My favourite new breakfast place

By devilfishsd |

I love this place. Can’t say enough great things about it and I’m so glad the wonderful owners decided on that location (steps from me 😉). Everything I’ve tried so far has been fantastic. Nothing is overly fancy or too understated. And the service, the vibe, the smiles.... it’s the local breakfast/lunch equivalent of a hug from a good friend. What I love in particular is that the menu is varied, kind of eclectic, and decidedly healthy. They have elements of Mediterranean with hints of elevated Latin flavours. You could eat here five times a week and be pleasantly surprised each time. Of note, the toasts are particularly good - I really like the avocado with a poached egg. The scrambles are fluffy and flavourful, and the baked goods are downright divine. I’m not even a pastry fan and I love their stuff! And they have shakshuka! Long story short, these guys know what they’re doing and they’re doing it exceptionally well. This is exactly the kind of place Little Italy needed. Recommendation: Go on a Sunday morning, definitely get the coffee, try a pastry sample, and get a toast and something else to split. Speaking of, get a Prosecco split while you’re at it.

A Lively Mid-Afternoon Coffee Break

By Gary B |

Parakeet seems like a perfect spot to re-energize, after either a lengthy walk around Little Italy or along the harbor. There is a full menu for each of three meals. I needed just a good drip coffee and fresh-baked cookie, which were both in plentiful supply. Parakeet's coffee is as flavourful as any in San Diego.

Brunch and smoothies

The Parakeet is located in Little Italy. Hot breakfast/brunch. Closes mid afternoon. Food is very good. Wait sometimes is long due to poularity.

way way over prices for a egg burrito!

By Jonathan A |

ok. the place is nicely decored! but come to the Fnnn down this place is a ripoff, explain to me why a potato, egg, and flour tortilla is worth 15 dlls, please!I can get 4 times the burrito at Chipotle for half, and the rest of the food is just nicely presented that is! no more, the taste is vague at most, half the menu is Mexican food appropriation, and i mean not even the salsa verde was true salsa verde, how do you get to that, im mexican i can make you a pink pretty burrito for 15 dlls would you pay me! it would be 3 times as healthy and 4 times better tasting! i do have to admit do the Marssocco espresso machines were a great investment, since the coffee is worth it. but trust me this place is overpriced

Delicious and beautiful

Organic, non-GMO, humane certified eggs, and super tasty. Super tasty and beautifully served. Very creative. Every employee was super nice and funny. Their coffee is really good. A place not to be missed.

Perfect spot for healthy.

Perfect spot for the health conscious eater, especially for yummy food. The Avocado toast is on a HUGE piece of toast. Green Goddess smoothie was delicious.

Good waffles

I’m not much into this type of place but the breakfast waffle with chocolate and fruit was great. The coffee was good as well. A decent quick breakfast stop.

Great coffee and pastry’s!

By Joaquin R |

In Parakeet Café they have a large variety of coffee options to order. The ones that I thought were important to mention were: Honey Cinnamon Cappuccino, Lavender Cappuccino and the Cacao Blend Cappuccino. It’s worth to mention that all the syrups are made in-house which I thought was insane. Those three that I’ve tried, are amazing. This place is worth trying. If you have a chance and you are in Little Italy, go!

Good coffee and breakfast

By zakolkaFC |

The place is amazing, everything was fresh, healthy, super tasty and was super clean. We had cappuccino, shakshuka, freshly squeezed juice and sandwich. It's amazing place to have breakfast with family, kids, or a great place to work from.

Good food

By AbrahamLincolnCPA |

I guess the food is healthy eating. You know, brown rice and healthy vegetables and stuff. Not my usual cup of tea, but the food was nicely presented and tasty. I was put off by the payment system when you order. You pay at the counter when you order, pretty much like McDonald’s and such. Except It asks you if you want to include a tip and suggests 20% and higher. Really? For counter service? Uncomfortable, because the counter person is looking right at you, which is uncomfortable. I said no, but felt very uncomfortable after that. Wouldn’t go back for that reason only. Otherwise the food was good.

Tasty Delicious; & Incredibly Clean Establishment.

By Aaron Feld |

What a phenomenal spot. Crossing the border back to the US, I was very lucky to spend an hour with a childhood friend. A little breakfast & a coffee was just what I needed. She; being a resident of San Diego, recommended we go to parakeet cafe. I'm glad she did. We had an açaí bowl & the overnight oats, & coffee (a must!). From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a friendly smile (through the masks). It was a Sunday so the farmers market was going on (unfortunately didn't get to attend). It is an inviting & large cafe to be honest & everything on the menu looked exceptional! I B can't wait to come back. Thanks Parakeet Cafe. Your staff is warm & friendly, & the quality of your food is tasty delicious. To add something I don't normally touch base on; the cleanliness of your establishment was incredible. Thank you!

A little bird told me

By Khai L |

A little bird told me about this cafe after a stroll through the farmers market. What a cute little surprise. Grab the menu, order at the counter, take your number, find a table, and enjoy the food. My turmeric latte and green scrambled egg were interesting to look at and tasted good also. Now you can say you heard about this place from me, not a little bird anymore.

IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE!!!!

IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE!!!! We tried their Turmeric Latte, Avocado Toast and Cacao Waffle - All of them were delicious! And I fell in love with their avocado toast. It was phenomenal! Highly recommend!

Great Coffee!

Delicious and beautiful. Mayan coffee with coconut milk was so great. Had to come back again on day two. Why ever go to Starbucks when this is around the corner?

Such a nice place!!

By Bob E |

It’s too bad we didn’t find this place earlier in our stay in San Diego. We came here two days in a row for breakfast. Wonderful, healthy choices to choose from. Great location too. Right across the street from Little Italy center courtyard. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cheery. It’s not a big place and they don’t overpower you with music that isn’t friendly to your ears. Light colored interior makes for a wonderful experience when eating. Very clean place to eat. Next visit we will be back again. They definitely have repeat customers with us! Daniel is a super nice guy and very helpful. When he saw us on our second visit he welcomed us back and even remembered where we were from. Definitely an asset to the restaurant. Owner...if you are reading this, he probably isn’t paid enough. You want to retain his services. Great customer service Daniel!

Great breakfast

By Diane W |

Great breakfast. We had the eggs Bennie and the waffle. Both were delicious. Also had the breakfast burrito the other day and it was great. Just the right amount.

excellent smoked salmon with an aiolli dill sauce

By Bond R |

A review in the San diego union piqued my interest. Went there and had the smoked salmon with capers and aiolli dill. A good portion of salmon, well made and the place had a nice casual vibe and best of all was not eating with dogs. Will go back to the place for sure.

Great healthy option!!

Great location in Little Italy. The overnight are very good as is the blue corn waffle. Coffees are great and the vegan chocolate chip cookies are really good

I'm Going Back!

By Cappie G |

I had this restaurant on my list and took my sister there while she was visiting from Texas. Yum! We both had the Egg Benedict, but this was no ordinary dish, Pesto on the toast, roasted tomatos, and a Pabalno Sauce on top! We were greeted by Danielle at the resgister who was friendly and happy to be working here. Keep up the great food.

Cute place, healthy options!

By MonBV |

Loved this place! We found a healthy alternative for our stay in San Diego. My husband ordered the eggs and salmon and the salmon was fresh and delicious. We had the banana oats cupcake which was perfect. You can find vegan and gluten free options and portions are not huge, they're just the right size. We didn't try the coffee but the place smelled great, like fresh roasted coffee! You can find some options to go like fruit and yogurt. Definitely coming back!

Great food and coffee!

Great food with a lot of gluten free options. Also, good coffee and awesome staff. We had brunch and afternoon lattes, and we were always impressed.

Conscious Brunch

By purplekiwi |

The Perfect salad with salmon hit the spot. Very cute place to sit and meet with friends for brunch.

Beautifully decorated and tasty but very pricey for what it is

By concettah667 |

Popped in for breakfast. I wish we would have found it sooner. We loved all the freshly made items. I had the avocado toast and an 'Immortality' latte, which was ginger, cardamom, and other rich spices in a latte. It was nice and foamy. I wish they'd given me a spoon. My guest had the lavender latte, which was also very good. We added an egg to the avocado toast at extra cost. My only complaint is that it was really pricey for what it was - one slice of thick bread with a little bit of avocado spread on it, some greens, and beets. It was tasty but the price was a hard swallow. We literally spent the same money at the pub across the street for dinner and beers the night before. We felt this was way over priced - entre type price - for toast. The staff were cheerful and really nice, and worth every bit of 5 stars themselves.

Best brunch and breakfast spot in San Diego

By Réka K |

Parakeet Café in Little Italy is truly one of the best brunch and breakfast spots in San Diego! I recently had the chance to collaborate with them, and the experience exceeded every expectation. Connor and the entire team were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive—it felt like they genuinely cared about creating the best possible experience for every guest. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, and the drinks were some of the best I’ve ever had. From specialty lattes to refreshing juices, everything was crafted with so much detail and quality. The café itself has such a warm and vibrant ambiance, making it the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing meal or catch up with friends. What stood out most was the combination of amazing food, great service, and a positive atmosphere. Parakeet Café doesn’t just serve meals, it creates memorable experiences. I can confidently say this is by far my top recommendation in San Diego for anyone looking for excellent brunch or breakfast.

Birds, birds, birds!!!

By SesameOntario |

This place has the cutest decor...bird wallpaper & pillows. We needed to escape the trick or treating in Little Italy October 25th. The streets were overly crowded with families waiting in long lines to collect candy. We ducked in Parakeet Cafe for a cappuccino and espresso before dinner. Friendly staff, reasonable prices & tasty bevies. We sat on comfy seats watching all the costumes walk by. Great time!

Can't get enough!

By AlohaHB |

Upon recommendation we got the matcha pistachio scone as a pre-dinner snack and it was phenomenal! We stayed in San Diego 1 night, and I made sure to go back the next morning to get a couple more to go!

A delicious and healthy breakfast

By woolercoaster |

We went to the Parakeet Cafe for breakfast. I had the açai bowl and my husband had the overnight oats and both were delicious. We each ordered a cappuccino which was excellent. In this café you order when you arrive and sit at your table and wait to be served. The service was very quick. I will definitely go back during my stay in San Diego.

Health Conscious

By NotSamSpencer |

They’ve got a tasty menu with health conscious items that won’t kill your eating plan. But you could also grab a gigantic cookie because you only live once. Treat yourself.

Wonderfully organic

By jflowersco |

The food and drinks at this sweet little cafe are kind of expensive, but when you consider that all ingredients are organic, nonGMO, and mostly locally produced, it is well worth it. We shared the shakshuka eggs, the gluten-free cacao waffle, and a golden milk scone, and they all were perfectly prepared and delicious. The waitstaff are friendly, cheerful, and super helpful. Great cafe.

Cookie on the go

By Kira A |

I have been chasing a snickerdoodle cookie that I had in Vegas. This place is small, had a bit of a line. So we decided to try the snickerdoodle cookie. It was good, not as big, but not the one from Vegas. We also tried the pecan bar. It was burnt. Immediately through it away. $21 for two cookies and the bar. We did not sit down, just got them to go.
