My wife and I drop in at least twice annually to this restaurant, nicely located at Ocean Beach, and next to the GG Park. It is popular, and relaxing, with tables on the grass outside and most tables inside a bright, well-lit interior, with a number of large-screen TV's, tuned in for sport watchers. Service is friendly and efficient, and the food is good, with generous portions. Sandwiches and entres range in price from $9.50 to $19.00. We particularly like the Carolina Pulled Pork sandwich, $14, which comes with a salad and is big enough to split. One of the really big attractions is the large choice of beers on tap! Our favorite is the Presidio IPA-great!

Great to go for Taco Tuesday night when Diego's Umbrella is playing and the fish tacos are on special. After my night there, I bought Diego's Umbrella's latest CD and have been listening to it nonstop.

Location, location, location. That's what this restaurant has, with a direct view of the beach and Pacific Ocean. But, quite frankly, it was the worst experience we had at a restaurant in San Francisco. Our server was okay, but not very friendly. We ordered lobster rolls and they turned out to be the worst. Very little lobster and at a $27 price tag, the skimpiest lobster rolls in the city. Get a lobster roll pretty much anywhere else and they will be loaded with lobster at a cost of about $22. We might go back to the beach, but not here.

Food was OK, but service was terrible. Not that busy, the day after Christmas, but getting a drink (15 min wait) and getting food (45 min for happy hour apps) was like watching grass grow. When this was brought to the attention of the manager, a perfunctory apology. Better get your act together!

We stopped by Park Chalet today and had such a great experience I had to actually sit down and write this. Andrea took care of us, and she’s honestly one of the reasons we keep coming back. She’s warm, funny, on top of everything, and just makes the whole meal feel easy and relaxed. It’s rare to find someone who remembers you and treats you like you matter, but she always does. The weather was classic SF — a little sun, a little breeze — perfect for sitting outside with a cold glass of wine and just enjoying the day. Food came out hot, fresh, and exactly how it’s supposed to. No drama, no waiting forever, no “sorry we forgot your order.” Just smooth and delicious. It’s one of those places where the vibe and the service hit at the same time, and you walk away thinking, “Yep, I’ll be back again soon.” Huge shoutout to Andrea for being consistently amazing.

The garden tables welcome doggies and there were many of them on a sunny saturday afternoon. we had excellent beer and hamburgers and the puppy had a nice time socializing with the other doggies.

Sometimes I just don't get the negative comments about this place. We just returned from Ocean Beach and ate at Park Chalet. I had the Steak Frites and my wife had the Pork Schnitzel with red cabbage and apricot sauce. Maybe it was the weather today (75f), the subtle music, (Dexter Gordon) the staff, (Michael), the view of the Pacific, but it all fit nicely for a satisfying afternoon. Beer and wine was good too! It took my wife's mind off a health issue she hadjust two days ago. Next time any of you visit San Francisco, give this place a shot. Thank You from an old New Yorker who used to visit the Top Of The Gate in the village.

Just had lunch with a bunch of girlfriends here the other day right before checking out the Bulgari Exhibit at the De Young Museum located a couple of miles away. I hadn't been here since the mid-90s, when the entire place was literally in ruins. What a turnaround... this place is fabulous. Since I hadn't been there in a while, I was a little bit confused about how to find the restaurant. As soon as you walk in, there's a museum, above which is the Beach Chalet. The Park Chalet is towards the back of the building, right up against Golden Gate Park. There was ample parking when we arrived, although I can see how it can get super crowded on the weekends. It was fortunately a sunny day and we could enjoy the solarium thoroughly. We were surrounded by greenery and blue skies. They have a lovely backyard area with several lounge chairs, where four-legged friends are also welcome. I so enjoyed this restaurant that I am going back for lunch with my husband tomorrow. From there, either hit the beach or the park!

Well! this has to top it all - gorgeous day along Ocean Beach so we thought it would be just perfect to eat outside in the April sunshine. Unlike European cities San Francisco is not good at providing outside eating venues so the Park Chalet has something special to exploit. However having joined a line of about 6 people waiting to put their order in at the bar we stood for about 20 minutes and there was no progress. It seemed that the staff were too busy socialising with each other to pay any attention to the needs of mere customers so we had to give up and move to the restaurant at the front of the building the 'Beach House Chalet'. The setting is lovely and the restaurant is light and airy but not much good when you can't get served!!!

The food here is pretty good, the views are amazing. If its a nice day sit outside have a martini and relax.

First time at at the Park Chalet, after getting rudely rejected at the Beach Chalet. We arrived around 1 PM and there were open tables inside, so we took it. The hostess seemed too bothered to be courteous to us, so we just smiled and waited to be seated. Our server greeted us within five mins and that’s where the good service ended. She went off to do something, and when she returned, she took our orders. I was nervous about the accuracy, since she repeated back incorrectly to us on multiple occasions. Amazingly, the orders were correct, they just came out in awkward fashion. First to arrive was one beer. After that: three meals, then water, then two drinks, then three meals, then last drink, then last meal, then coffee. Those were all separate deliveries from various staff members. Our server brought two tiny servings of cream for the five cups of coffee. When we asked for more, it arrived 12 mins later. Our waters were never refilled, even though most of them ran dry. The total bill for seven came to $246.40 plus tip, about $35 per person. I was fine paying that for the good food but the snarky hostess and the inept server did not warrant the price. We will probably look elsewhere for brunch next time.

We were visiting Golden Gate Park and didn't know where else to go. Pizza was good, enough to share between two people. Neat location across from ocean and in park. Good place if near it and hungry.

Great location, beach on one side,Goldengate Park on the other.Nice that people with Kids and dogs can eat outside and enjoy the park.I had Fish and Chips, very good.My sister had a sausage pizza, our friend had a burger, all were happy.

My son and I had lunch there and brought our little dog, Jake. We initially sat in the grassy area, and after 10 minutes of waiting we moved to the patio. Another 10 minutes went by before we were approached by a server. He brought drinks promptly, even brought water for the pooch. When our entrees came out, my son's came out first then five minutes later, mine came out. The food was good and we ended up taking some home. I had the short rib appetizer and salad and he had the chicken mac/cheese and fries. I liked my dish and my son felt there was hardly any pasta and mostly chicken, which he didn't like. The flavor was good, though. Overall, we waited way too long for our server to come - the restaurant needs to coordinate things better. There is no reason anyone should wait more than a few minutes before being at least acknowledged by a staff member. I would go back b/c they are dog friendly, and it's a convenient place to go after a hike.

We drove out the Ocean Beach for a Saturday brunch and the menu at Park Chalet was pretty miserable. There were only about four breakfast items, two of them with seafood, which knocked them off my list. Nothing basic like scrambled eggs and bacon. I ended up with the corned beef hash with a poached egg. The meat was fatty and chewy. The egg was what it was - one poached egg. Service was lousy as there seemed to be only two wait staff dealing with the entire room. Should it really take 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee? The only thing worth recommending is the outdoor seating on a warm day, which is rare. And then, come for the burger and nothing else.

Wandered upon this cute bar, restaurant when walking Thru the park. Loved the views, locals, wine, service, salmon sliders....

Have had a couple meals here and of course it is wonderful if you hit a perfect day to enjoy the backyard. Indoors is a bit loud with too many hard surfaces echoing but the food is pretty good, salmon was great, Ruben and crab sandwiches were tasty, would suggest they offer a little fries or salad with the sandwich? Also the bun on burgers just fell apart so they need to get a different bun! The food came out sporadically for our large group meaning some of it was being served after others were almost done which was awkward, but the service was wonderful. Our waitress made sure our large group was able to get separate tickets and staff made sure the table was happy with refreshed drinks etc. We will be back

It's such a shame that this beautiful building in a world-class setting has such a terrible restaurant. We can take the slow service, but the actual food is not good. It's very very expensive and is bad. Go for drinks and the park views; if you must eat, try the fish and chips or the burger. Everything else is inedible. Be prepared to wait an hour for food - we did both times. Someone needs to manage this place correctly.

Park Chalet is perfect on the 10 hot days a year in SF. Bring your dog, kids, sit on the big yard out back. Full menu and BBQ, brew their own beers, solid wine selection, good mixed drinks. Crowded, busy, dynamic, good food, lively atmosphere.

Yesterday was my birthday and we had one of the worst experience we’ve ever had dining out. I chose the restaurant Park Chalet Garden because they are allowing Dogs. I called the place to confirm the reservation I made thru Yelp the day before and to make sure we will get seated outside and even requested a table far away from the crowd because we brought our dog with us, who’s a year old aussiedoodle. There were 5 of us including our kids 11 and 15years old . When we got to the place , I again asked the hostess to seat us at a table far away from the crowd because we have our dog with us. We know our dog is very active and can get naughty coz she would always want to play with other dogs and human. She gets overly excited and loves to be petted and she has never been aggressive to any human beings at all. We got to the place around 415pm. The servers and waiters were so nice and friendly. They were apologetic when the wait to get our orders took longer and when the meal took a little longer to come out as well. We didn’t mind. My husband and I and our friend who was with us are all in the medical field . We know how it is when short staffed, we know the value of patience and understanding. My kids said their Thank Yous repeatedly to the waiters and servers . We all did. We made sure we were watching our manners. In other words, we chowed down on our food very quickly because we know we have a dog who anytime will get restless and excited with everyone she’d see around us. Even my kids didn’t take time to finish their meals. We have everything with us to pre occupy our puppy -water, food, treats, toys .we even asked for a water bowl since I read the place will also provide that for dogs. There were other dogs there and in different sizes as well . A couple even approached us to ask what breed our dog is. They were not annoyed, they were seated outside. Another even brought his bernedoodle close to our dog so the two dogs played a little. Our puppy did bark from time to time at other dogs especially the little ones . But she didn’t bark consistently because we took turns to pacify and distract her with treats and food, even her toys and even some petting. We tied her to a pole a few steps away from us. She didn’t get near anyone nor any other dogs . Less than an hour we finished, we hurried since our puppy was starting to get restless and excited. However Getting the tab took awhile. We were all standing a long time so very ready to leave but waiting for our credit card to come back from the inside took longer as well. Our puppy started barking more at another dog. The other dogs barked as well. Like what we’ve done while eating, we took turns to get her distracted. And then the worst scenario happened. There was this couple, an older man and his company (wife maybe) were seated inside. I believe they were initially seated outside and moved to be seated inside. Because the sliding door was wide open you can see and hear the outside nosies from where they were located plus there was an ongoing music and all. The old man suddenly stood up took a few steps near the door way and yelled at us. He screamed and cussed at our group. Pretty much he CUSSED at my CHILDREN who were still with us just waiting and ready to leave. This ill mannered individual with his arms wide open to the side screamed “What the F@&$”!! Go leave now. Go now!” While he was doing this horrible action, the old lady with him remained seated , giggling and even laughed. She seemed amused by her company’s actions. My kids were in shock with what they’ve experienced. To say the least they were traumatized . What hurts and what was really disappointing was NO ONE intervened from the staffs of Park Chalet Garden. A couple of waiters whispered to us “So sorry.” But no one from the staff reminded this ill mannered person that the place allows dogs. Our group followed their rules posted on the outside-that is “keeping the dog on leash at all times. “ Being a dog friendly restaurant , I was expecting someone would have intervened and advocated for us dog owners who actually followed their rules . It’s such a disappointment such horrible actions of this particular individual was tolerated at a place like this.

A great place to visit with your pooch. Good food, great service at your blanket on the lawn.

I love this place. Really great service, lovely views and great service. We had the Margarita Pizza, definitely a California experience that you won't find in the mid=west. Will have to try to make this at home now.

Went for Saturday brunch to this chalet in Golden Gate Park. It is located at the West end, just before the beach. They sat us on the patio - not in the open but under a translucent roof. I had their house brand IPA beer $8. My wife had the Mavericks Margarita $13 We shared the fried calamari $15 and Lemon Ricotta Beignets $12. Both perfectly cooked and flavourful. Sandra gave us efficient service. Enjoyable. Dog friendly, but none close enough to affect allergies. Followed by a walk along the beach walkway.

If you want to go outdoors and have a few beers and pub food then this is the place to go. The food is definitely average, the ambiance is average and the service is average and the price is average/expensive given the quality of the food...

My husband and I chose Park Chalet because the location is perfect to explore the park and enjoy the beach. The calamari was average but the fish and chips (I substituted sweet potato fries) were delicious. The portions were large and we could have probably shared the fish and chips. Great place to grab a drink and a bite, but don't expect a life changing meal. If we are ever back that way, we would probably check out the back patio instead.

The Park Chalet has a beautiful view of Golden Gate Park. However, given the price of the brunch buffet, $27.00 per person, I was disappointed. They had very little in the cheese and fruit selections. There were three salads that had only one set of tongs between them. The eggs benedict were totally flavorless and under cooked. I didn't try the scrambled eggs, so I can't comment on them. They had biscuits and gravy, but they had poured the gravy over the biscuits that looked stuck together and barely any gravy. Their breakfast potatoes were very good. They had flat bread pizza that was tasty. There was an omelet station which the men in our group tried and said it was ok. Their "carving" station consisted of a pork loin, that's all. There were no desserts other than some fruit and a chocolate fountain. The breads consisted of blueberry muffins and scones. Nothing else. We asked a man who was bringing out food what one dish was, he looked at it like he had never seen anything like it, and finally guessed..."cornbread?" We said no. He asked someone and it ended up being bread pudding. Also, along with the never ending champagne, we had to purchase a caraf of orange juice to make mimosas. All in all, I was disappointed with the entire buffet. Will I go back? Probably not.

This restaurant is right across the street from Ocean Beach, where we spent the day with our dogs. We were so thrilled to find a place to eat at, that was so close to where we were, and where we could sit outside and have a really tasty lunch, with our 2 dogs. We couldn't decide on what to order so we went for a variety of items.... garlic fries, sweet potato fries, chicken wings, BBQ sliders and peperoni pizza. All of the food tasted great! We will definitely be going back here the next time we are at this beach, and highly recommend it to others as well.

The food was good but overpriced for the amount you receive. The service wasn't that great. The plus side is it was nice to eat somewhere close to the beach.

We were a large group, and they were able to seat us without reservations on a crowded day, which was a plus. The room is inviting and comfortable, especially on a nice day post beach. The specialty drinks and the beers brewed on site are great. Where it fell down for me was in the food. Appetizers were decent, but nothing to write home about. The truffled mac and cheese tasted so strongly of blue cheese that no truffle could be tasted - waste. The fried calamari was good. Our table ordered a couple of the Fisherman's Catch platters to share, as our server told us they were new to the menu and the description sounded good. They were atrocious. The clams and mussels (main parts of the dish) were bad. A large percentage of them weren't open, which usually signifies they were dead before cooking and thus not safe to eat. The ones which were open just tasted like something long dead! We ate very little of these lovely to look at platters. As seafood is the majority of the menu, the restaurant should put a little more effort into it. I would however, recommend the Park Chalet for drinks on the lawn after a trip to Ocean Beach. It will be crowded on a sunny day, but you can sit on the lawn under a tree which is lovely.

First, the good: great lobster roll, nice space, fun historic building. I've been to the Beach Chalet upstairs a few times, and was looking forward to checking out the Park Chalet downstairs. So we went there last Saturday night. But the service: bad. Our waitress couldn't have cared less about us. We waited 35 minutes for our food to arrive, despite the fact that the restaurant wasn't full. After 20 minutes into the wait we caught the waitress's eye and she came over and apologized, saying the kitchen was backed up and the food would be right there. Another 15 minutes later -- with no explanations in between -- our food arrived. I asked the waitress if the restaurant shared its kitchen with the Beach Chalet, but she said no ... that's when we got the new excuse that they had "made a mistake" with our order. Hmmm, having spent the prior 20 minutes watching our waitress schmoozing with the bar staff and other employees while we waited for our food makes me think the "mistake" was that she forgot about our order and our food got too cold to serve, so they needed to re-do our order. Who knows. I'm usually not so negative in my reviews, especially because I know being a server is hard work, but there's no excuse for such careless service in such a nice venue.

Food's so so, but on a warm sunny day, it just can't be beat. It hiding around the corner of the Beach Chalet out at Ocean Beach.

Liked it better when it was not a buffet. Very good spicy bloody mary's though.

Easygoing restaurant with fairly large menu, good service, and good views of the ocean. I've had burgers and other quick eats, and enjoyed them all.

Four of us had lunch at the Park Chalet. There are two restaurants with two menus. We ate at the upstairs restaurant with the view of the ocean. It was expensive, Lunch for four with no dessert and one alcoholic drink, including tip was $96. A hamburger was $14. Everyone liked their food. The sandwiches were extremely generous and good. They had a lamb and feta sandwich that I wanted, but were out. The service was friendly, but could have been a bit more attentive. The view was the atmosphere. Parking was difficult, the lot was full.

Instead of cooking we decided to have Thanksgiving at the Park Chalet. The menu posted on the internet did not match the offerings available. The food was served buffet style which is no problem except there were no label stating what was being served. We had to guess what we were eating and felt as if we wasted food because we put things on our plates we would usually not select if we knew what it was. Not only did we guess at what was being offered, the food was cold and multiple options were left empty. We tried to go back multiple times and even after notifying the wait staff, food was not being replenished. The food was so so and some I did not even attempt to eat after tasting such as the mushy stuffing with heavy sage flavor and a dish that was possibly thin sliced potatoes with cinnamon (none of us could figure it out). The "short rib" (we assumed that is what it was) was the only option I actually enjoyed. Problem was that I tried a small piece to begin with and then it was never replenished again at the buffet. Dessert was again a guessing game. The small tarts has soggy crust and there was a pumpkin mousse with raisins that I found inedible. I understand the dining room has open doors but the hovering flies are a little off putting. The gentleman in our group did appreciate being able to watch the games on the two tvs though. Not somewhere I would return to in the future.

Park Chalet has great potential but the member of wait staff that we were served by let it down terribly. What started as friendly if lacklustre soon became terrible as he delivered the wrong order of tacos (that you would eat with your hands) to our table and left them unattended with us for over five minutes before coming with our correct order and taking the incorrect one to another table - obviously very unhygienic. A real shame as this place has so much potential. Hopefully you will get another server and have a far better experience.

My husband and I, tired from a day at the nearby DeYoung Museum, collapsed here and drank a beer while waiting for a friend to join us for dinner upstairs at the Beach Chalet restaurant. It must have been fraternity night! Convivial is an understatement, more like loud and raucous. Perhaps it was the acoustics. But everyone seemed to be having fun and enjoying the end of the day, and we were just happy to sit down and relax for a bit in our own little corner and watch. The wait staff made us feel welcome. Be warned: This area does not overlook the ocean; rather, it backs onto a patio and lawn area. At the front of the building, which dates to 1925 and was originally a changing place for ocean “bathers,” is a foyer of murals by Lucien Labaudt highlighting 1930s San Francisco. Do take your time on these…they are remarkable and intriguing. So is the small gift shop, with unusual souvenirs.

So their bartender can mix a decent cocktail. But the service was non-existent and, when we did get service, it was downright rude. I've never actually encountered a restaurant where every server cared less about their guests...first time for everything. Took more than 30 minutes to get a cocktail. We never stayed long enough to order food.

A little pricey. Good breakfast spot. Great view

If you want to add $500 to fix your car window to your pricey, mediocre meal, then this is the place for you!! Our car was broken in to at 11am directly in front of the restaurant (along with two other cars) and we were made to feel like it was our fault! "I'm sorry this happened to you" was constantly replaced with "we have signs warning about theft". The manager walked over with cardboard to tape up the window and didn't say a word to us, just taped the window and walked away. The security officer (who doesn't arrive until 1 pm) was so rude to us, I asked him multiple times to leave us be and he just stood there staring at us. We were told that security cameras were removed to cut costs, even though they have break ins daily. This establishment does not care about their patrons at all. They are aware of the daily break ins and do NOTHING about it. So even if you are responsible and remove valuables from your car, you will still have to pay to have your broken car window repaired. My Strawberry Rose Mimosas was tasty and the food was nothing special. Most of our food came out cold and lacked flavor.

After hiking through Lands End and visiting the Wilhemina Tulip Garden and Windmill, we stopped at Park Chalet for a bite to eat. The atmosphere is relaxing, we sat outside enjoying the cool weather and soft music in a park like setting. Food and beverage just as enjoyable as the surroundings and the prices are reasonable.

The service was the worst we have ever had. Our waitress would come back with a big smile and ask if she could get us anything. We would tell her and then wouldn't see her for 15 minutes. Food was prepared wrong, bill was wrong and it took us forever to get anything. We ate outside because we had our dog with us. That was the only positive about this place, is that it was pet Friedly.

My family and I went to Park Chalet for Happy Hour. We reserved for 5:30. From reception to servers, we got nothing but obvious disinterest by the staff. No one seated us for 30 minutes in spite of our reservation and many available tables. No acknowledgment, no eye contact...we felt as though we were intruding on something. Several of the items were not available, but we were not informed of that until a couple of items arrived after an inexcusably long wait.Other items simply never arrived. We used to enjoy going there for the lovely location and ambience, but no more!

Expect to wait during the weekend, is right by the beach, has dog friendly outdoor seating so it's a popular place. But it's worth the wait! We got the ribs appetizer. The meat was tender and easily came off the bone dripped with the right amount of the sweet tangy sauce and goes perfectly with a beer. Almost every table ordered a burger so we did too. It was cook to medium with a big chunk of avocado, it was so yummy. We also saw a few tables got the lobster roll which looked amazing too, but we were full so we will give that a try next time!

Look at my review of Beach Chatet, this one's sister next door. We've always liked the atmosphere of park and ocean and nearby windmill, this time we were disappointed by the excessive loudness, and overall lack of charm we've experienced here in the past.

We stopped here for lunch while exploring GGP. Had a pulled pork sandwich and hog burger. Both were very good! Would definitely come back again.

My husband and I were out and about on a recent Sunday and had some free beer tokens from a co-worker for the Park Chalet so we decided to try it out. We were able to find parking across the street in the beach area so we sat at the beach for a little while first which was beautiful. The Beach Chalet is upstairs and overlooks the beach, we did go up here first to get a drink and it seemed like a nice place to dine. We went downstairs and in the back is where the Park Chalet is (it backs up to Golden Gate Park). They have an inside seating area where you can be seated or an outside patio or the grass area. It was about 2pm when we arrived and while crowded we were able to find a seat outside on the lawn. They have adirondack chairs and some round picnic style tables as well. People also had blankets they were strechted out on. After a bit we were able to find two Adirondack chairs that were open so we grabbed those, just in time for the band that started at 3pm. The day was beautiful and the beer is great (they make their own and only sell here). We did decide to grab lunch after a little while and our server Hillary was so friendly and awesome. I had the Dungeness Crab Melt and my hubby had the Carolina Pulled Pork. We also had a side order of French Fries. Food came pretty quickly and we dug in. The crab melt was the tastiest most amazing crab sandwich I have ever had, two sourdough slices and in between lots of fresh crab, melted gruyere and tomato. Instead of chips I had a side salad which was very tasty too. The sandwich was big enough to split also. My hubby really liked his sandwich as well. The french fries were also amazing, fresh cut and not too salty or greasy. Overall this place is awesome for people with children, families, couples, friends, dogs etc. Really enjoyed our day here and we will be back with friends. Highly Recommend Saturday or Sunday as they have live music.

I visited the restaurant on Thursday evening about 6:45. I ordered the fish and chips, the fish was not fully cooked, and the fries were over-fried, the coleslaw was dry. The relative with me ordered a pasta/spinach dish, and it was lukewarm, plus the corn was not cooked and hard. The meals were overpriced for the amount of food you get. Once we finished, our meal, it took 20 minutes before we could get the waiter to bring the check. The worse of the evening was when we saw a "large" rat running near the kitchen area. We told the manager on duty and he saw it too, but was nonchalant about it which told me he was aware of that. There was another one we saw which was running outside the front entrance. The evening ended badly when we went out to our car and saw that it had been broken into, and there were items stolen. We went back into the restaurant and told the manager, and asked him if they had surveillance, and he said no, and wasn't concerned about what happened to us, and made no effort to help call the authorities. We were basically on our own. From what I had observed, the janitor downstairs, kept looking out in the parking lot too many times as if he knew what was going on there. I will never visit that establishment again..............

This is downstairs and in back of the more popular Beach Chalet restaurant. The restaurant is very attractive with glass walls looking out on Golden Gate Park and a nice fireplace in the center of the room. There is a good-sized full bar that seemed to be a regular hang out for the locals. The service was slow but passable. The menu looked promising with mostly small plates and some sandwiches. They weren't kidding about the "small" part though. Even though each plate cost north of $12 - $15 it really would take 2 plates to make a meal. Having said that, the food was quite tasty. I think if I were to go again I would stick to the sandwiches.

It was an overcast day as I found a spot on my third loop through the two parking lots. We got a table outside close to the band(Beach Cowboys) and the excellent waitress(Kallie) came and took our drink order. We enjoyed the music and food, as we shared the clam chowder bread bowl and the delicious chicken macaroni and cheese. Finished off with the very tasty key lime pie jar. Couldn't think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

No matter what time I arrived with my two well-behaved doggies, the Park Chalet staff was always courteous and welcoming. I have been a big fan of the Beach Chalet for years, but lately have traveled with canine companions, so the Park Chalet has become my headquarters for meeting up with my extensive list of San Francisco valued friends and family...could not have had a better time...fantastic menu and bar...most importantly, GREAT staff all around. Please last at least as long as I do...countless thanks. Jeff Stewart

We were lucky to get a lovely table in front of the fireplace, and to be there on a Sunday afternoon when there was a live band outside. The waiter was more than efficient - we had ordered the Beer Flight (very fun!) and while we waited for some to become available, he brought substitutes to try. We ordered the Crab Melt, the Chicken Wings, the Popcorn Shrimp, and the Truffled Mac & Cheese; all were delicious. THe non-alcoholic Blueberry Pomegranate Lemonade was appreciated by our driver!

I have been to the Beach Chalet in the past and been quite satisfied with the food, the service and the view. When we visited today, we tried the rear downstairs area for the first time due to longer waits upstairs. We were bringing relatives with us who were first time visitors. The restaurant was busy on a Saturday afternoon so there was a reasonable wait which was understandable. The trouble started once we were seated. The wait for our first visit from our waiter was longer than it should have been. There was no initial visit to take drink orders. 10-minutes after sitting down we ordered our food that drinks. Again, it took quite some time to get our drinks. When our appetized showed up, it looked great and we asked for plates so we could share. Seven minutes later, still no plate and one of us went to the desk to obtain our own plates! The chicken wings would have been better when they arrived hot... When our entrees arrived, only three of four were delivered and our guests were nearly halfway through their meals when my wife's meal finally arrived. I also had to ask to have my crispy fries replaced because they were barely warm when they arrived with my steak. The food itself was quite good. The delivery was far less so. I made it clear to one of our servers that we were having a very frustrating experience and we also informed our primary server that the staff had really fallen short. Frankly, I was expecting the appropriate gesture of a reduction of our bill; perhaps a complimentary drink at the least. No, no adjustment whatsoever. What we experienced on this visit was nowhere near the value of the $137 bill that was delivered to us. The bill was the sole item (except for the replacement fries) that showed-up to our table. Not a day for the Chalet to be proud of and somewhat of an embarrassment for us having recommended the restaurant to our guests.

I had a confirmed reservation at the Park Chalet in San Francisco today Jan. 1, 2012 at 1:00 pm. I arrived and checked in at 12:55 pm. I was told there will be a 10 minute wait. After waiting 20 minutes and seeing that at least 4 tables had remained open since I arrived, I asked to speak with the manager. The restaurant failed to talk with me, explain anything to me, send the manager to me, or honor my reservation. I left after waiting 50 minutes. This establishment has serious problems. It is so poorly run that I warn anyone who wishes to dine here to be prepared for extremely poor treatment. They obviously over-booked their afternoon and instead of trying to make a customer with a confirmed reservation comfortable, they had a "customer be damned" attitude. The young man who served as the "host" was rude and incompetent. I have been to restaurants before where an unanticipated delay occurs; I understand that these things happen sometimes, particularly on holidays. But when this happens, I have been given an explanation, an apology, and sometimes a complimentary drink. And I have never had to wait 50 minutes before on a confirmed reservation. Basic customer relations are non-existent at the Park Chalet. The staff at the Park Chalet even phoned me at 9:00 am to confirm I was coming. Such arrogance should not be rewarded. BUYER BEWARE.

The food was ok, the atmosphere great. The restaurant is somewhat upscale and not so conducive to small children. The wait staff seemed somewhat distracted and was sometimes difficult to locate. I didn't feel the cost was justified in light of the mediocre food and poor service.

The Park Chalet is a nice happy hour hang out after a day at Ocean Beach, Golden Gate Park or in the city. Especially when you don’t want to share the space with many people their slow happy hour is the best to enjoy their brews in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. (Not to confused with the beach chalet restaurant that overlooks Ocean Beach!) The food is ok but nothing to rave about. An exception might be the fresh oysters ($1 each during happy hour). Beer: from $6.50 (Happy Hour $4-5) Entrée: $15-30 Credit cards accepted.

The location was relaxing. The service was very good. The food was good. The Ahi Tuna Poke was quite tasty. The Fish and Chips were average. Nice place to stop after walking the beach.

On the West end of the Golden Gate Park, across the street from the beach. They have real nice "backyard" area with cushioned chaise lounge chairs. The restaurant blocks the cold Pacific breeze. Real good place to chill out, soak up the sun, snack and not least, drink up! We had a pizza, garlic fries, the Sticky ribs and tuna rolls. The Sticky rib sauce was primo and the garlic fries were drowning in fresh minced garlic. Everything was great!

Today a friend and I met here for the Sunday "recovery brunch" and found the place perfect for chillin'. The waitstaff promptly checked and refilled our champagne glasses, so they accurately bill the brunch as coming with a "bottomless" champagne glass. We tried almost all the items on the buffet -- Caesar salad, regular tossed salad, bacon, scrambled eggs, made-to-order omlette, broccolini, fresh fruit (without chocolate dip), smoked salmon on flatbread, peel-and-eat shrimp, muffins, eggs Benedict. My favorite was the smoked salmon, but the scrambled eggs and bacon were surprisingly not overdone and sufficiently warm. Best of all was that we weren't rushed even as we sat for over two hours, leisurely eating while chatting about the latest books we've read. The waitstaff just kept refilling our water and champagne glasses, and one even gave us a heads-up on "last call"on the buffet. Sated, we strolled onto the lawn to enjoy the Sunday music in the warm sun for another hour before calling it a day -- a most chill day.

We had a pleasant afternoon at the Park Chalet. It was clean and we were seated right away. There were a lot of friendly people inside and outside of the restaurant. The crew was very helpful and attentive and our food was served on time. Food was okay and it is really a great stop after taking out of town guests sight seeing. There was music in the back lawn which added to the relaxing atmosphere .

I suspect many would rate this only GOOD, and that was my previous rating for the Beach Chalet, which has the same kitchen as the Park Chalet. But I'm wondering if the kitchen has a new chef. Ate here twice recently, yesterday for Thanksgiving day. Had a lovely three-course dinner: the salad had extremely fresh ingredients (lettuce with persimmons, pears, and pomegranate seeds and and excellent light dressing); the main turkey course had all the normal trimmings, but everything on the plate was a step above my expectations; and the apple cobbler at the end was satisfying and up to the standards of the rest of the meal. Which means I may need to shift my evaluation of Beach Chalet as well (once it reopens after the pandemic) ....

worse food than beach chalet- service even worse- couldn't tell me what a flat iron steak was- but GREAT BEER- and great amiance

great place to hang out, food and drinks (irish coffee for example) is below average tho.

Personally, I like the food and atmosphere here at Park Chalet better than at Beach Chalet. Laid-back, friendly, and easy access to the back lawn area if you have little kids and pets. Yes, the Beach Chalet has the views, and can be nice when the sun is setting. But I can also just buy a burrito and a soda from Gordo's on Clement St and eat it directly on the beach. But I digress... The brunch buffet at Park Chalet is decent, though I can understand how others may complain about the lack of variety. For us, it is enough. Happy hour is also decent. The portions and food is filling and satisfying enough, and is a good place to get together. I typically order the ribs and a guiness. The parking is good, if the weather is not sunny and hot (otherwise the beach-goers will fill up the lot). You can burn off your meal by crossing the Great Highway and meander in the beach, or you can take a leisurely stroll in Golden Gate Park. My daughter likes to walk to the windmill (you can't miss it). Highly recommended.

We waited 20 minutes for a table and more than 30 for the food. The food was O.K. but the staff were running around like headless chickens and there seemed to be no one in charge.

After previously waiting for tables upstairs at the Beach Chalet we discovered the downstairs brew pub and restaurant. What a fun spot!! Visited there twice this last weekend. Enjoyed sitting on the lawn with beers and food in comfy adironback chairs. Saturday there was a fun band playing and it was a bit more crowded on the lawn than Friday - but still good service. Our teenaged daughter loved the location - its Pokemon Go crazy good there because the land and the sea meet AND there are 4 poke stops close together with the added bonus of a gym. As parents it was great to sit out side, enjoy and beer and music with good eats. Dog and kid friendly for sure. Going back for sure.

On a Sunday afternoon, go check out the live music and lounge in the sun. Just be ready for your burger to take an HOUR to arrive. (Luckily, after an hour, it tastes like heaven.)

Because of emails I had received from Park Chalet about their February Beer Event, I decided to stop in after work on Thursday February 1 when they said would debut their Sea Serpent IPA and be giving away the pint glass and a t-shirt. I arrived around 4 pm, taking a seat at one of the bar tables and ordering the Sea Serpent beer. Many people were there with at least one friend, so I could people watch while sipping an IPA that was not bitter but light, rather refreshing in contrast to the dark beers I typically drink. I also asked for an order of their chicken wings, described as having shishito peppers, ginger vinaigrette, scallions, and garlic. These unsticky and tangy wings were a nice counterpoint to the beer, and I found the fried peppers and softly cooked carrot sticks to add a bit of variation to the perfectly cooked wings. The six wings comprised a satisfying appetizer to satisfy the hunger I had from not having eaten since 10 am, so I could go home to dinner without being ravenous. And being able to come home with an attractive new pint glass and a great looking new t-shirt for the happy-hour price for the beer and the wings was definitely worth the extra drive past home from the train station. I found the wait staff to be personable, and the view of the park from the room was quite lovely on a sunny February afternoon. I will likely be back for at least another of this month’s Thursday all-day happy hour menus and debuts of new beers along with their glasses and t-shirts (although shirts are limited in number) if work permits. I like the casual vibe and people watching there, the food is decent, and the workers are always friendly.

This past weekend my boyfriend and I were staying with friends in SF. Sunday morning we went to brunch at Park Chalet before heading to the airport. The ocean on one side, the park on the other, it was a great way to say goodbye to the city.

We were intending to have dinner at the Beach Chalet, which was closed for a special event, so instead went to the downstairs Park Chalet for the first time. It did not disappoint. We ate there on a gorgeous February late afternoon, so we could eat outside on the lawn and amidst the trees. There were kids and dogs playing, as well as folks sipping beer from having completed a good run. While some of the reviews have criticized the service or food, for us both were perfect. We don't like being fawned over or intimidated by the settings. To be able to eat outdoors and being food perfectly wonderful food by staff we found attentive is our definition of a perfect meal out. Highly recommended, especially if you enjoy more casual dining experiences or have kids who need to burn off some steam.

Enjoyed a group brunch for four before heading to the Klimt/Rodin exhibit at the Palace of Legion of Honor. All was going really well until a guest arrived with her large dog. No identifying collar or jacket, this dog was probably just following its master after its daily walk in the park. I wouldn’t complain except that this is an eating establishment and that large of a dog was clearly out of place. The group of two was seated near the patio so in addition to being a health violation, its tail really got in the way of guests coming and going and servers trying to deliver. Was witness to at least a couple near mishaps with other diners food. I know San Francisco is the home of permissive politics, but this was a little ridiculous. If you’re going to bring your (large) dog make sure it’s wearing its service dog tags, collar or jacket. Otherwise leave him at home!! On another note, the food and service was lovely. Would definitely return.

So... I had a great day. I parked at Ocean Beach, checked out the beach for a while, then walked across the street to the Park Chalet to have lunch, then walked around Golden Gate Park for a couple of hours. It was a great afternoon. Honestly, restaurant itself had kind of a funny smell so we sat in the bar, which was quite loud. The service was very friendly, but the food was pretty bland, and the beer was decent at best. But, this lunch was the anchor that made the rest of the afternoon possible. Keeping it all in perpective, I give Park Chalet a very good rating, but it is despite the restaurant itself, not because of it.

We were here on a very busy Sunday. The hostess was very attentive and accommodating. Our waitress was so busy yet she took very good care of us. We had the fish tacos and they were top notch! They have a brewery too and a great list of beers. We really enjoyed our lunch.

The service was excellent. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere was great, in a park setting with a view of beautiful flowers and bushes. The restaurant was clean and located within a greenhouse enclosure that allowed a full view of the outdoors. We ordered the Dungeness Crab sandwich. Don't. The crab was diluted with chopped celery and a very spicy sauce that obliterated the taste of the crab. The french fries were thick cut and average in taste. We also had a Caesar salad which had too much dressing. There is a nice selection of drinks, so this is a great place to come for a beer. Most of the other patrons ordered pizza and appeared to be happy. We have only eaten here once. Perhaps we would enjoy the other menu items. The location on the beach is what induced our visit.

Pet friendly place good food not to bad on $$.. Clean and friendly people out side and in side eating area. Just walk across the street to the beach for a nice walk

Fun atmosphere, but the food is just not that great.

We always go there for the appetizers and the beer. The Entrees are touristy prices. Yesterday we had the popcorn shrimp and couple of pints.

Yep, nice atmosphere and decent food though it is not "cheap". Looks like a place where yuppies and oh-so-cool people hang for brunch.

Just across the street from the beach. Thus is close to where the bay to breaker race ends. Has a big wind mill around the corner. And next to Golden Gate Park. Service was ok. Food was good a portion size was good. Had two shoe rate dining area in the restrauant and an outside area. The liar level restrauant had life music when we were there.

After a walk in Golden Gate Park or exploring Land’s End, I love having an al fresco lunch at the historic Park Café on its back lawn. (The upstairs Beach Chalet ocean-view restaurant up top was closed due to COVID but planning to reopen soon; you can still view the upstairs WPA murals on your way to the restrooms. ) My lobster roll was just delicious, as was my husband’s fish and chips. With the particularly warm fall weather, we felt like we were having a catered picnic in the park. The giant picnic brownie desserts topped with strawberries being delivered at the next table looked incredible; too bad we were too full to order one for ourselves. Next time, we’ll be sure to leave room for dessert!

We've all heard of the soup nazi, then meet a very bitter simple minded guy who happens to be the restaurant manager (Dave). Myself and my family ate here and are still shocked with our awful experience. This guy is so crazy it's an actual joke and is as rude to staff and customers to suit. He has single handedly ruined what was suppose to be a nice family birthday get together. We should have used our better judgement and walked out when we could not get anyone's attention after sitting for over 30 minutes inside. Clearly this is one of the worst managed restaurants in the country. Service is a joke as staff are not trained and are miserable. Food was bad and nothing arrived as it should, appetizers arriving after main course, fish served raw, etc. But God forbid you complain to the Manager. Then you have to deal with crazy Dave. The fact that he is still working here after so many terrible reviews shows that management DO NOT CARE. All I can say is if you haven't gone yet, consider yourself fortunate.

Given its location, this place is going to be hopping on most weekends. We stopped in without reservations on a Saturday afternoon. It was breezy and cool, so sitting outside wasn't really an option. The host said there was a wait, but then offered to give me the table from a reservation that no-showed if I was willing to give the missing party 10 more minutes to arrive. They flaked and we scored their seats. I really appreciated the host's willingness to work us in, especially since we had three kids in our party. The food was good. My husband described the fish and chips as the best he's ever had. Our server was attentive. We will definitely go back.

This place does not look very charming from the seaside, but the backyard patio is really nice. There's also a restaurant one floor up that we didn't try. They have a nice selection of beers, and their fish and chips was excellent (in the category pub grub).

Their beer rocks but their new menu lacks their great ahi tuna tartare!

Delicious food, great service, the weather could be better but that’s San Francisco for you. They just got a new chef and the menu is wonderful. I had the part chalet eggs Benedict add avocado with a side of bacon and a peach Mamosa. Heaven!

The place was not overly crowded but still we never got our ordered appetizers. After a 45 minutes wait the server apologized but could not give an explanation of what had happened. So we left more hungry than how we arrived.

Located at the beach-end of GG Park, The Park Chalet is the garden-café type restaurant located downstairs with both indoor and outdoor seating. The Beach Chalet is located upstairs, inside, with views of brewing kettles and the roaring Pacific. As a tourist from New England we loved the Park Chalet with the ability to eat outdoors with a shade covering, sip craft beers and watch all the goings on. We were told the wait was 30 minutes, but were seated in only a few minutes. The food is not cheap, but expected for its location. The menu is not big, but has the standard burger. There was a great beer selection brewed on premises and I wish we could have stayed and tried them all. A nice spot to dine and drink with a beachy atmosphere.

I had the Dungeness crab sandwich and my companion had the Fungi Pizza. Both were great. Reasonably priced for SF. Great atmosphere. Very good beers. Do the 8 beer sampler and choose the one you like best.

This place is located on Ocean Beach, so parking can be difficult on the weekend when everyone is trying to go to the beach or Golden Gate Park. Food is mediocre, with the selections designed more for tourists than locals. I liked the clam chowder in the sourdough bowl and the lobster roll.

Park Chalet is located at the western end of the Golden Gate Park. It is a companion establishment with the Beach Chalet which faces on the ocean from the second floor. The Park Chalet is on the ground floor facing the park. There is outdoor dining available as well as tables under cover. The food is of mid-level quality with prices moderately high. Service can be slow. Eating outside is not overly pleasant as the view is not what one would expect from a restaurant in a park. On the whole, a disappointment and not worth seeking out.

Much more accommodating for our big group of 7 than I'd have thought, and a sunny evening while it lasted, but that's the best I can say for this park side experience. The food is phoned-in, average at best, and overpriced, then subjected to a surcharge they make sound like a city mandate, but has not appeared on our check anywhere else. Service was lackadaisical, but I'd probably feel the same way if I waited on tourists all day.

Been here several times when we bring the dogs down for a beach day. Food, drinks and service are always spot on and cannot recommend this restaurant more. Can't wait for the next trip ;-)

To be honest, I've been a creature of habit, during my three visits to Park Chalet. A friend and I always come on "Taco Tuesday" when you can feast on an assortment of $2.50 tacos from 3PM to closing. There is live music and beverages such a pines to $3.50 and two-for-one margarits. Once we splurged and ordered tiny onion ring strings...which were yummy. There are five delicious taco selections - fish, pork, veggie, chicken and carne asada. I can never resist their fabulous hot fudge brownie sundae with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, two brownies, peanuts, whipped cream & a cherry on top - large enough for two but I can finish one alone. They also have a nice caramel bread pudding and cheesecake. My favorite drink on the menu is the BEACH BASIL GINGER -St. Germain, vodka, basil leaves, ginger, lime Juice for $11....yummy. I like that the setting is casual - the kiddies and household pets can play outside in the garden setting, parking is usually easy and, afterwards, you can walk off those calories with a stroll on the beach.

David, the bartender, took great care of us one night when we "bellied up". It was fairly late, and yet he was still enthusiastic and quite the mixologist. They have several specialty drinks, so we tried a few and also ordered a couple apps which were fine. The mac and cheese was very tasty and decadent. David gave us several tips about the city of San Fran..where to eat/see, etc. which we highly appreciated. We came back a few days later with our teenage boys and sat down for a late lunch. The menu is was very likable to them, burgers, fries..typical pub type fare, but nothing super special.. and service was quick and efficient. Nice atmosphere

The park seating is like no other place in San Francisco. They have many beers, and the menu is good. The building is beautiful and right across from the ocean. Take a short walk to the windmills in Golden Gate Park, especially in spring when the tulips are blooming.

We had a late lunch here and the food was good. It's a bit pricy for what you get but that's true about everywhere in SF these days. $23 for a sandwich, $13 forabowl of soup, crazy. Anyhow I had the fried chicken sandwich and my husband had the burger. My SIL had the minestrone soup and my BIL had fish and chips. My fried chicken had a nice crunchy coating and the chicken was moist. There was a lot of bun and a bit of a spead that was good but there wasn't much of it. Most of the flavor was from the pickled jalapeños. My husband said his burger was average. The best part was the pickled onions. My SIL said that the minestrone that she makes at home was better than what she had. My BIL really likes their fish and chips. He was happy with his dish.

I decided to try the Park Chalet because I've already been to the Beach Chalet restaurant before. We came at night but I know this place would really rock on a warm sunny day when the retractable glass doors are opened and the sun shines through the glass ceiling. My wife and I were disappointed that we were seated in a section with large families with small children present. I would have thought the host would have chosen to seat us in the quieter section where there were other couples present. During our time there, the kids were running around our table and grabbing silver ware from an adjacent empty table and dueling with each other. Parents were talking with each other and only occasionally got up to round up the kids. I know that the waitress was put in a difficult situation and I guess that's why I would have preferred to be seated elsewhere. It was pretty loud with the glass acoustics as well as the kids, so at least for that evening, it was hard to have a quiet conversation there with your spouse. The meal service was slow and we were not served until 45 minutes later. I ordered Texas baby back ribs and my wife had fish and chips. Both were moist and tender and I would recommend both dishes.

I am writing this review from my toilet. The Cajon Cod sliders were cold, tasteless, and gave me the runs. The setting and view are tempting but stay away.

Great location, and fantastic place to hang out with friends over a pitcher of beer. (Lots of young adult groups doing that....) However, the food is not all that exciting and service can be sloooooowww

The food is basically similar to the Beach Chalet, the Park Chalet being the lower level and garden of the building. The food is outstanding - better than any other restaurant within 2 miles. the steaks are exquisite - the seafood is excellent. Service is very good. Though they take reservations for indoor dining, the outdoor tables are first-come, first served, which is disappointing.

Had a surprisingly good cheeseburger and fries. All of my guests had great meals too especially the fish and chips. Dang, even the cola tasted great. Nice service too, not the best but attentive enough.

Excellent food! We had the short ribs and Brussels sprouts. The interior is sunny and the service was fantastic. I would definitely return!

The Park Chalet located in Golden Gate Park is one of the city's most iconic restaurants. It is my favorite place to relax on a rare sunny afternoon in the park. The Park Chalet is an expansion of the world famous Beach Chalet. The two restaurants share a building but each face different directions, the Park Chalet faces East to GGP and the Beach Chalet faces West overlooking beautiful Ocean Beach. The architecture and grounds of the Park Chalet really sets the restaurant apart from any other in the city. The interior of the restaurant plays on the natural park surroundings with all glass walls and ceiling, so even if you are inside you still feel as if you are literally in the park. The lawn outside the restaurant is a great place to eat al fresco or catch a few rays on a weekend while enjoying one of the Park Chalet's specialty brews. One time, I was entertained for a good half-hour watching some young guy try and impress the ladies with his yoga skills (sadly it worked). Everyday of the week features a different special in addition to their special summer activities. This summer they are featuring a "family staycation" give-away for five as well as the Summer JAMband Family Festival. Monday is $2 pint, followed by Taco Tuesdays with $2.50 tacos, half-price margaritas and $3 pints. Wednesday to Friday feature the 3-6-9 Happy Hour with menus and food specials for $3, $6, and $9 as well as a free Friday Movie Night. Sunday is the popular Recovery Brunch Buffet, an all you can eat and drink mimosas special for $25. The Park Chalet is a great place to bring a date, meet friends or entertain out of town guests on a budget. The location is beautiful and on a sunny day in the city, no other restaurant compares to the bustle of patrons on the lush lawn enjoying a delicious cheap beer.

This is a bar and bar grub type of place, food id judt OK,very busy with the service being mediocre. The good part of the chalet was the outdoor atmosphere and all of the trails you could use to explore the area on.

We stopped here for lunch and sat outside. Great environment and dog friendly! Delicious food and yummy drinks! Swing by and check it out.

When we travel we always try to find some dining options where our little bulldog can join us. The Park Chalet at Ocean Beach was perfect for that. They have a lively indoor area and the outdoor patio had lots of people and doggies enjoying a sunny day. Our lunch was great, about 3.5 stars. The patio is behind the building and shrubs, so fairly protected from the winds coming off the ocean.

I came here on a recommendation from the person that I was staying with and the food was decent. I had a burger with bacon and cheese. The restaurant was fairly sparcely populated when I got there (fairly late only about 15 min before last call), I also had one of their house-brewed beers, which was also pretty good. I think that this would be a really cool place by day as it is right across the street from the beach and right on the border of Golden Gate Park. Therefore the ambiance was pretty cool and the food was ok for the price. I would come back.

The Beach and Park Chalets are a must for anyone visiting San Francisco. Great views of Ocean Beach (not to mention it's directly across the street). Good food and friendly servers.

A very lovely spot on the rugged coast along San Francisco. You can choose from the beach chalet on the 2nd floor or the park chalet on the ground floor facing the park. Either way, the views are lovely. The menu is great selection of comfort foods (burger, steak frites, etc) as well as reliable Ca favorites like poke. It’s nice to take a walk on the beach afterwards. There is a charming small museum on the ground floor with historical information and photos of the building and area. There is also a snack/gift shop.

The location is fabulous and the dining experience is satisfying. We took visiting relatives from Europe, who were on their honeymoon, to the Park Chalet for brunch; they were very impressed and happy with the meal. the location/atmosphere and the entire experience.

So, lived here forever and on occasion will stop here for lunch, but today, I'm really disappointed with the service and the error on my order that shocked me when the bill came. I ordered the green goddess cobb, no chicken. Chicken was never mentioned other than my friend who ordered the Thai Chicken Salad. They brought my salad with chicken and I told the staff person (who wasn't our server) that I didn't order chicken, but at that point I said to leave as is and ate most of it. Little did I know that the chicken was $10 extra...yes $10! So a $21 dollar salad became $31. That's insane. I should've told them to remove it, I should've asked how much more it would be to leave it, but in the end, that price is ridiculous. It would've been nice if the person who dropped off the meal communicated back to the server that there was a mistake and the server come over to the table to apologize and inform me of the extra charge. But nothing. I had to go to the counter, flag the hostess to ask if the $10 was for real. I told them what happened, but paid because I ate it. Our server wasn't even all that attentive. We had to flag her down to take our order then flag her down for the check. Needless to say, won't be returning anytime soon and it's too bad because I live 5 blocks away.

Great atmosphere, especially when it's sunny outside :-)

The location of the Park Chalet could be summed up as perfect. Tucked in a hamlet surrounded by trees and vegetation, the Park Chalet is 100 yards from Ocean Beach, and yet somehow a world away. In one of the most unique and serene settings in all of San Francisco, diners can choose to eat in Adirondack chairs on a grassy lawn while their dogs play and their children frolic. Happy Hour is gracious, with excellent prices on large pizzas, tacos, salads and more; not to mention highly drinkable house brewed ales. Live music is playing many nights, and the eclectic crowd always seems happy to be exactly where they are. Somehow this tucked away outdoor gem is at least 10 degrees warmer than the beach a mere street away, and thus makes for a magical al fresco dining experience for San Franciscans from all walks of life.

My sister and I went for Thanksgiving Dinner. It was a buffet, and for $85 a person, it was definitely not worth it. There wasn't enough variety of items, and what was there was not replenished in a timely manner. We had to ask over and over again for refills on our iced tea, and never did get the extra glass of ice requested. The service was not very attentive, and we could hardly wait to finish and get out of there.

huge brunch buffet with bottomless mimosas right in golden gate park - the location right across from the beach is great, and the food was delicious. I would definitely go back.

On my list of top 3 places to have lunch during the weekend. Outdoor seating, Dogs welcome, perfect spot especially if its a warm day. I always order the delicious $15 Burger along with a good cold Beer :) They have weekly events as well, check thier website for more info.

We went for Thanksgiving Dinner & it was a buffet. Nice vibe! We did have reservations but seating was fast. Not over crowded. Nice selection of starters, salads, proteins, sides & desserts. The staff was genuinely concerned about getting us anything we needed.

I may be repeating other reviews, but maybe I can add something... Nice setting! Indoor/Outdoor feel with glass walls and ceiling. relaxed setting with views of GG Park. Not the most interesting part of the park, but still Golden Gate Park. Staff was very accommodating and pleasant. You can be served indoors or outdoors.... The bar and drinks were great.. a little overpriced but remember where you are! The in-house beer is rather simple and safe. You're not going to be bowled over with anything experimental or cutting edge. Flavors are bland. Cocktails are better. Food.... uh... yea..... It's just OK. Like everyone else states, the food is just OK, but overpriced. My advise.... Keep this place as a Bar/lounge and just serve appetizers and small plates. Maybe some Tapas!? The food bring the review down, the rest is great.

The restaurant is a lovely relaxing room to be in, just off the beach but looking onto the park. The food was very good, as was the choice of beers. The staff were also good. What stopped this being a 5 star review is the state of the toilets. Admittedly they share these with the Beach Chalet Restaurant above and with people walking I. Off the beach, so the toilets are busy. But it is an industry standard indicator of the attitude of the management, and these toilets on a not-very-busy mid-week lunchtime, were pretty awful. Sorry Park Chalet, but this needs addressing.

The location is fun - parking can be easy - staff is helpful - however sitting in a glass room with the sun glaring/blaring upon you can be very unflattering. The lady next me was wearing a sun hat ( great idea) to save her skin. I know this is an unusual comment, however, twice was enough...Next door has better seating- indoor.

I came to Park Chalet for the first time and was delighted to see they offered Fisherman's Catch, a type of bouillabaisse wtih clams, mussels, crab, shrimp, potatoes, Italian sausage and French bread. However, when it came to my table it had chili powder sprinkled all over it and the sauce was very flavorful but too hot for me! I was so sad because my body won't handle the heat. When I talked with the waiter he was very concerned and we came up with a plan. He invited Jason, the manager and a former chef, to come up with an alternative sauce. It was delicious! A wine and butter sauce. My only day at the California seaside before I flew out of state featured a wonderful dish, created just for me! What a great restaurant!

We had an early dinner here after a long hike in Golden Gate Park. Located at the west end of the park at Ocean Beach below Beach Chalet. This is where the locals go and you can tell by the relaxed and casual conversation around you. Families and friends gather around talking about life in the City. We had the Chalet Tacos and Truffle fries and they were delicious! Our server was attentive and the price was reasonable. I have a lived here for a two years and it was our first time here but it will not be my last!

The Park Chalet is a glass-enclosed dining room downstairs and behind the Beach Chalet which views the ocean. Pick the Beach Chalet if you have a choice. The food and service were fine at the Park Chalet, but it was a warm day and the glass enclosure had the effect of a hot house with no ceiling fans or circulating air.

If you are hanging out at Ocean Beach or Golden Gate Park and want a nice lunch where you can be super casual try the Park Chalet. They have a nice indoor area and patio where you can reserve a table or opt for the first-come first served lawn seating. Bring your own blanket if there are no tables. The food is good, the service is friendly and they are the most accommodating people! DOG FRIENDLY!! the lawn area is typically a bunch of dogs with their humans. They will bring out a nice big box of water for the pups and you can have cocktails, wine and beer while soaking up the sun. We have been here twice this month, one by ourselves and then with the California Airedale Terrier club where they graciously handled 26 dogs and their humans - the dogs were easy, the humans were OK! Our server Ryan was awesome.

This is our 3rd or 4th time for brunch and also the worst and last time we come back. Not enough serving utensils for all the food items, not enough staff service behind the omelet station, soggy, undercooked bacon, over greased potatoes, and yes, this really happened: a stack of not properly washed, quite dirty dishes were brought out for the guests to use. The smoked salmon was excellent, as was the fruit salad and bread pudding. Also, our server was superb.. She was extremely attentive without being intrusive. She is the reason I give two stars instead of one. However, the quality of most of the food items has plunged. The brunch food presentation was so shabby and reflected an overall lack of care from the staff. What happened? It was not always like this and we remember the days when the quality and presentation was exceptionally wonderful. Management should scrap this brunch program and start over with making their staff accountable for proper food preparation training and execution, demanding more rigid quality control, and ensuring that the brunch table returns to its once stellar days of excellent food presentation.

Didn't plan on eating here, but after a walk in the park, I found this place! Once in a while, you get lucky... I LOVED the fish tacos!! The butterscotch pudding was the wrong consistency; sorry I can't recommend that one.

Party of six family members gathered early last evening. Lots of other families also enjoying this restaurant's wonderful garden setting on a damp but "balmy" seaside summer night. To begin: Parking is a nightmare SF style. Also, the only indoor seating being used was in the bar area, though another area exits but wasn't open. Noise level was nearly unbearable due to blaring music reverberating off glass walls PLUS two TVs going. To continue: Sadly, previous reviews regarding abysmal service are accurate, and then some. In fact it was the WORST SERVICE EVER. To start, bar service was deplorable. How can it take 1/2 hour to make THE WRONG DRINK? And another 1/2 hour to fix it? Then we were CHARGED TWICE for that same wrong cocktail. The kitchen and wait staff are a double joke. Doesn't anyone check orders before they're delivered? Food was actually decent once screwed up orders and overlooked items (four out of six of us) were corrected, which took TWO HOURS and SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. Manager's attitude was ok once he finally showed up at our table - 20 minutes after our SECOND REQUEST to speak to him. One meal comp'd, but THIS WAS GROSSLY INADEQUATE COMPENSATION FOR A MISERABLE EXPERIENCE. In spite of the horrible noise level and even worse service, our group might overlook our disappointing evening as an anomaly, and consider returning for the wonderful setting and tasty food. But not after reading that OUR FIASCO is consistently reaffirmed by others' similar comments.

The service was slow and waiter not attentive despite of not a busy night. The braised "short ribs" in my opinion were actually chuck roast cuts. A common practice in many restaurants. The crab cakes are served as ONE crab cake over shredded lettuce. 30 dollars for chuck roast over mashed potatoes and 30 dollars for a crabby patty over lettuce. For dessert we waited 20 min for a slice of terimisu. They include a 10% "tax" which helps pay tge employees health care btw.
Best eating on the Great Highway
Inside / outside, across from Ocean Beach, below the Cliff House, near where the amusement park once was; next to the windmill; next to the soccer fields, behind and below, Beach Chalet, which you go to for the view... Park Chalet you go to for the park. Great service. Appealing menu. Can be crowded on weekends... Lawn chairs have been replaced by rod iron picnic tables... sometimes live music...
