We happened upon this great little place while in the University Heights area and were happy that we stopped in. We had delicious brunch dishes: Eggs benedict, and scrambled eggs with spinach, artichokes and feta cheese. The lumpy mashed potatoes were outstanding. Our waitress was helpful, friendly and efficient, told us the restaurant had been an old home conversion. We happened to eat in the old living room area with the original fireplace. Decor was charming, inviting. We went on a weekday and had no problem getting seated indoors; outdoor seating also available. The waitress said the lines can get long on weekends. I would have given five stars but it was a bit pricey, a great treat though. Street parking could be a challenge but we lucked out. Great area to go for for a walk in the neighborhood.

We chose this restaurant as it is close to home and I have had nice lunches there several times. But dinner was very disappointing. The decor is quite nice, and on a warmer night we would have eaten on their patio. The entree arrived in a timely manner, but the waiter had totally forgotten our first course. So rather than have the entree get cold, we skipped the clam chowder. The 3 lam burgers were pretty good but the lamb was fatty. One of us ate half her dinner. The salmon was good, but no good cook could screw up salmon. I'll go there for lunch again, but not dinner.

First time here and will be back. I had the house eggs Benedict and the wife had chiliqueles. I add the pork to my order and was great! The service was was also very good đ Can't access photos sorry?!?!

Wonderful, friendly service and a very creative and delicious breakfas was savored while sitting outside on this peaceful main Street of urban Village. I enjoy tea with honey, followed by some eggs with their excellent mashed potatoes fried in the skillet and homemade chicken sausage. My wife loves the lemon, ricotta pancakes. My son ordered the polenta wrapped Carnitas which he loved and let me taste and now thatâs what I have to have for lunch! This is the place to go if you have some time to just sit and outside relax with friends and find food.

I took the very friendly waiter's recommendation to try the lobster ravioli, and I'm very glad I did. It's one of the most delicious lobster pastas I've ever had (and I try it most places as it's a real favorite). It's very rich, though, so I couldn't eat it all, even though I hadn't had an appetizer! The wine recommendation from the waiter was also spot on. My husband loved his pork chop -- perfectly cooked with just the right amount of seasoning and not too heavy on the crusting. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is the chairs -- a bit uncomfortable. Also, there was a party at the bar and it was quite noisy. But it's definitely worth a visit for the food!

We have had the absolute pleasure of having Kia as our server most of our visits to Parkhouse Eatery . She is outstanding! We like everything weâve tried but particularly like the lobster ravioli, roller base, fire shrimp, clam linguine, and, of course, the bread! We are also very pleased that they now have a full bar. Of notable mention is also is the chocolate cake dessert. We have only been able to go to brunch once, but also found it quite delightful. The French toast is worth the wait in line for brunch, but we would love it if they would start taking reservations for brunch instead.

When you are in the mood for a long conversation while having a great breakfast, this is the right place, cozy, familiar, delicious.

Absolutely the best restaurant ANYWHERE. HANDS DOWN! Breakfast lunch and dinner. BLT Bloody Mary with 2 pieces of applewood smoked bacon is awesome! The PH Benedict on focaccia bread with avocado hollandaise is unbelievable. Cream cheese stuffed French Toast??? Are you kidding me??? YOU MUST GO!!!! Truly wish this restaurant was EVERYWHERE!

That says it all. Fun cuisine, great service, romantic French-inspired interior with a cozy fireplace. It must have been someone's house at some point, it's got that feel to it. The Large Pork chop is divine. Moist, which isn't easy in today's very lean pork world. The Iceberg lettuce salad is huge.....it definitely serves two. I'm allergic to gorgonzola so I switched to the honey-mustard dressing and it was delish! I also had the fried pork dumplings; they were very good. I have never been here for breakfast. They host a Yappy Hour the first Monday of every month. Bring your pooch and sit on the patio and enjoy 1/2 price appetizers and bottles of wine. It's right across the street from Diversionary Theatre, so it's a great place to stop at first for a dinner and a show kind of night. You could round out the evening by walking down the street to LeStat's café for some after-show coffee and discussion.

Food was great. Pleasant inside and outside, friendly staff, good service. I really liked the atmosphere. Will definitely go back.

We were in search of the perfect brunch on Sunday & decided to give this place a try after reading reviews of so many places in San Diego. We were able to call ahead to put our name on the wait list, which was a huge advantage since it was a gorgeous day & the place already had people waiting on the sidewalk for a table to open up. They had so many different choices on their menu that our party of 4 adults, 1 toddler & a dog (yes they are dog friendly on the patio) just couldn't make a decision. We decided to start out with the Lemon Ricotta Pancake & Berry Pancake as a starter so everyone could have a taste. I had the PH Benedict that had the avocado hollandaise whiich I've never seen anywhere & it was amazing, I'm wishing I had some right now. Someone else in the party had the Crabcake Benedict which was also amazing with just the right amount of spice to give it a kick. The other two had egg dishes that they said were excellent as well. The servings are large & there's no way anyone could leave there hungry, in fact we had to take some food home, due to the pancake starters. I was also very impressed by the coffee, very smooth & hot. We didn't get to try them, but the Bloody Mary's looked wonderful. The staff really went out of their way to accomodate our party & we will definitely return.

Very tasty local spot in San Diego's University Heights. Eclectic decor, inside and outside dining. I tried the PH Benedict, which was prepared on a toasted focaccia bread, and served with an avocado Hollandaise sauce that was light and flavorful. My wife had the Texas French Toast combo, and the French toast was right on the mark, soaked in a traditional egg custard. Great food, and the Bloody Mary was pretty tasty as well!

Get there before 9:00. Small place- a lot of noice if you sit inside. Steak and eggs meat fatty . Lots of charm just okay

Food was fine. I was hoping for something a bit more delicious. My family and I had breakfast on a Saturday. Service was efficient and friendly. Items ordered: Eggscetera with crispy bacon and a side of squaw bread, kids breakfast (pancake, bacon, and eggs), chilaquiles with chorizo, the meat scramble, apple juice, 2 regular coffees, and a cappuccino. Total price was 81.58. As previously mentioned the service was good. Our server whose name starts with an F was awesome. But for the price of the breakfast..I wished it was better. My family were satisfied with their meals. Not sure if I would return...we shall see. I might give them a second try based on their hospitality.

Found it on yelp last year and was very pleased. Went back last week for breakfast and it didn't disappoint. Had the chilaquiles, pulled pork but with egg white and just as tasty. Definetly recommend if in the area.

This is my go to spot, especially for lunch. Love sitting inside by the fireplace on a rainy day, or outside on the patio on a warm day. Great variety of food for everyone. Lemon ricotta pancakes or eggs Benedict are really good. Chicken sandwich is also really good. Service was excellent!! This is actually a place where you can have a conversation!! Parking is just on the street so can sometimes be a challenge, but it's worth it.

First time visit, Oct. 2018. Located in University Heights , the restaurant only has street parking, so a visit on the weekend or during high (demand) could necessitate a block or two walk. Our visit was a weekday late morning, so we had our choice of tables (inside/out) and thus more personalized service. The dinning atmosphere is comfortable enough, (see pic). Bathroom is undergoing upgrade construction which is a good investment, as this is a older property. Service as mentioned, was very good as we almost had the entire staff at our service. Wait staff was friendly. Food, which has the greatest weight, was fresh and presented very well ( see pics.). I had the ricotta/lemon pancakes with the berry puree. Enjoyed it very much, good quantity as well all around. The other plates were one of their benedicts' and the BLT. Overall, the rating range falls between 4.2-4.5 range. Enjoy! P.s. coffee is solid, cafe Moto which is served at other breakfast eateries I frequent (Hash House, Mission)

I used to love this place, but the last few times I've been I have been disappointed. This last time we were brought the wrong orders and there were a ton of flies that we had to keep swatting away from our plates.

We were looking for a nice sit down dinner that was formal but still casual (make sense?). A place where 4 of us could have a nice meal on the last night of our vacation, have some drinks and have it not be a bright, loud, touristy place. This fit the bill perfectly. Parking was tight in the area, but that is the only downside. Nice atmosphere, good service and above average food. If you are looking to get away from 5th ave / Gas Lamp quarter, check this place out. Menu on line to see if they have something you like, as it is not the largest menu. FYI beer and wine only.

The food is very imaginative with good variety and moderate pricing. The crab cakes were excellent as was the mixed seafood grill, which changes daily. The service was magical, very attentive and charming. We also met the owner who was very cordial. We highly recommend this restaurant, and we would return at the blink of an eye.

This is my favorite place to have brunch on the weekends. The dishes are wonderful and I always leave stuffed. The only problem is the long wait to be seated.

This is a quaint little place. The outside seating is great for sitting with a group of friends, anytime of the day. I ordered 3 sides, Mac & Cheese, Green Beans & Sautéed Mushrooms. YUMMY!! And I took half of it home. My Table friend had Mashed Potatoes, Salmon, Scallops and one other fish with a Citrus sauce. It was very enjoyable. The Coffee was good, the Waitress Kayla was sweet and very helpful when making order changes. She was one busy young lady for a Saturday evening...

This converted house still has the feel that you're dining with friends and not in an actual restaurant. Very unassuming and charming atmosphere - eat in or dine out on the patio. We chose inside by the windows. Started with the tomato basil soup, which was served with toast and the most delicious wafer thin strips of crispy fried onion and green pepper. Entrees were exceptional - meatloaf with marscapone mashed red potatoes and sauteed spinach for my husband and I had the pork ribs that literally fell off the bone. Sides of marscapone mashed red potatoes and sauteed green beans completed my entree perfectly. Portions are large, and everything is made to order, so no rushing. Service was excellent (Ethelyn knows her way around the menu - trust her!) and prices are very reasonable. Looking forward to going back for brunch next time.

I've often dined at this venue for breakfast /brunch and this was a first for Happy Hour. I was delighted to make a meal out of the Beef filet tips although the bourbon maple dipping sauce as a bit too sweet for my taste, TH BBQ lamb riblets with ginger BBQ and Asian slaw were on point, just the right bite and tang and not too fatty thanks to the waitress checking in with the chef. Small eats are 30% off from 5-7 on weekdays. Portions are generous too. I had the Kale Salad with pickled onion , toasted almond, cucumber, goat cheese and mango vinaigrette that was refreshing. My guest had the retro iceberg wedge wan all that gorgonzola dressing and apple smoked bacon was delicious. We both had mimosas instead of their red/ white and beer offering at $5 a glass. Mimosas came in a mason jar. We were both satiated. Service was good and I will go back for another Happy Hour nosh in the UH neighborhood.

We splurged and ended up with lots of leftovers. The crab cakes started us off, the meatloaf and farfarelle with smoked chicken kept us going, and the snickers bread pudding ended it all. It was exquisite from start to finish, and our waitress was delightful. The food was hot, the timing of deliveries was perfect, and the ambience was great.

This is my wife's favorite place to eat in San Diego. The food and serivce are great. My favorites are the eggs benedict or breakfast pizza, but everything my family has eaten there has been fantastic. The resturant gets very busy on the weekend so either get there early or make reservations. We always make reservations and skip the one hour wait.

This is a great place to come for breakfast or brunch, as well as dinner. I've done numerous breakfasts here and only one dinner, so I'll focus on the breakfast experience. The atmosphere is what brings me back again and again. It's a restored house, with a wonderful cozy feeling inside. It definitely is a nicer experience than being in a more traditional restaurant. It can be a bit loud, perhaps because of the lower house-like ceilings, but it's not unbearable. Just a bit more noise in the air than you might expect. Also, some of the tables by the front door are not great, because people waiting to get a table are sort of hovering over them, but you can certainly ask for a table more inside. If the weather is nice (which it usually is in San Diego!), the outside patio is very nice as well. It's clean and relaxing, and a great way to spend the morning eating breakfast. The food is very good as well, and definitely not your standard diner breakfast stuff. It's more creative, but still familiar so it's not the pretentious type of breakfast. You can still get eggs and bacon, but the bacon is the apple-smoked type (delicious!), and the bread is also a bit more rustic and unique (and delicious!). All-in-all, it's the sort of place that you feel comfortable and relaxed, and want to bring out of town guests to show off the best that San Diego has to offer.

Expect a wait, but it's worth a visit. The polenta and eggs was outstanding, as was the Texas toast (which is really outstanding French toast) with eggs. Treat yourself, give Parkhouse a try.

Brunch at the Parkhouse Eatery is a real treat. Not only is the food great, but the service is friendly and efficient, and the architecture is charming. Our group of four (one in a wheelchair) was quickly seated on the patio on a perfect Friday morning. I had the yummy eggs Benedict. My friends all enjoyed their meals as much as me. The price seemed more than fair for a fun brunch. If you eat on the patio take a few minutes to wonder around the interior of the home turned restaurant. I canât wait to return to San Diego and visit this amazing restaurant again.

This is an awesome local place to get an amazing breakfast. It's seems to always be busy but it's definitely worth the wait. My brother-in-law and his wife recommended this place to us the last time we were in town and it's our new favorite place near his home. The portions are ample and the Huevos Rancheros are to die for as well as their Vegetarian options and you will definitely not walk away hungry. Even the coffee is excellent and I am an avid Starbucks drinker. Check it out, you will not be disappointed.

Very nice place. Great food at a reasonable price. Great service. Call and make a reservation. Show up Hungry, large portions!

I ordered the risotto with pork sausage, shrimp, gorgonzola cheese, slices of brie cheese and asked if they'd change the vegetable from red peppers to spinach. They accommodated me graciously. This risotto was absolutely delicious! The sauce was amazing! I wish there had been a little more protein and spinach but it was absolutely yummy!! I hadn't been to Parkhouse Eatery in years but after this experience, I will certainly go back.

Very generous portions of breakfast and lunch options. Very good food in a casual setting, friendly staff. Sometime a wait.

I have passed by this place many times and it seemed so inviting. Great courtyard and the restaurant is a remodeled old home. Each chair at a table is different. It has great service and we were very impressed with our lunch. The waiter told us that they gave large servings and they do. My husband and I got the caesar salad and I got the Parkhouse Club which came with a small salad. We split the whole thing. The sandwich was fantastic and it is big. The sandwich came with turkey, smoked bacon, aged cheddar, tomato and greens on focaccia bread. It was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It isn't the typical sandwich that is loaded with "rabbit food" (alfalfa sprouts, lettuce of all kinds, and every vegetable imagined) The bread made the sandwich and the ingredients were extra touches. I can't wait to go back. http://www.parkhouseeatery.signonsandiego.com/ They do have wine, but I'm not sure about other drinks. If you are a traveler in the area, this restaurant is on Park Blvd. which leads to Balboa Park and the Zoo which is located on Park Blvd. It's about 10 minutes away. Although they don't have a parking lot, there should be plenty of street parking near by.

Ecclectic Menu. Delicious fare--artfully presented. Friendly Service. Generous Portions. Happy Hour Specials! Yay!

I've lived in San Diego for a while and eaten at a lot of places, but Park house Eatery is by far my favorite! Their three egg scrambles are to die for! I'd recommend going early on weekends because the wait can be up to almost two hours if you show up for brunch.

Went here with friends for Sunday Breakfast/ brunch. We had to wait a long time for a table because a bunch of GUYS took their sweet time eating and paying their bill. Final after much stink eyeing them, they got up to leave. The waiter set us down and brought us a muffin ON THE HOUSE because we had to wait so long. I would have to say that the food was really good and good size portions but a little costly. The waiter brought the check and a quick look over to make sure it was ours, I paid the check. I gave a little extra on check because the waiter seemed to make sure that we got what we needed on refills and other stuff. It was not until I got back to hotel that I found buried in the middle of the check was a 5 dollar charge for the muffin. Where does on the house cost you 5 bucks? Watch this place! They are nothing but a bunch off lying cons. I and my friends will never eat here again.

A neighborhood restaurant service breakfast, indoor and outdoor seating, family oriented place, perfect spot. Tasty breakfast, we have ordered scramble eggs, spring potatoes, avocado also fried! eggs, spring rosemary potatoes and pancakes (huge portion). Fair price. Highly recommended

I was in town with family and my sister told us about this place. The lady at our Air BnB also told us that this was her favorite spot so of course we had to give it a try. It is situated in an old house and has indoor and outside seating. It seemed small when you first walked in but there is really plenty of space. It even has a small bar area. This place really has great food. We all split the kit-kat muffin (so rich and tasty!) and then each had separate breakfast orders. I wish I could have tried everyone's, but I could not even finish my own. I ordered the breakfast sandwich special which was not even on the menu. It was HUGE. The only thing I wish had been different was I wish the price for the special would have been provided. Of course, I also should have asked first. The $20 was a bit of a shock, but if we had not been leaving to drive back to Vegas, the rest of the sandwich would have made a great second meal.

Parkhouse Eastery food was great, ambience needed a major clean up from the curbs inward to the restrooms. Disappointed in cleanliness of restaurant or would have given this restaurant a higher rating.

We heard we could get a wonderful breakfast here. That was an understatement! We LOVED dining here on a lazy late morning in San Diego. Charming place, super nice and friendly staff and the most wonderful menu and delicious breakfast we have had. My churro pancakes were worth the trip from Connecticut!! Thank you for a great start to our day. If you are reading this, go!!!

They have large portions but the food was good and it has a nice terrace. Great for sitting outside.

Every time I go I wonder why I'm not here more often! I always have a great time. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere very relaxing (especially if you're eating outside, as I did last night,) and the service is very attentive. I started with a very nice Fume Blanc and the Lobster Ravioli (which are amazing - thankfully there is a lot of extra sauce to sop up with the bread.) Continued with a wonderful New England Clam Chowder and finished with the Blackened sea bass. Just terrific!

Wonderful place for brunch. Pretty patio with umbrellas. Excellent, efficient and friendly service. Food was delicious. I had their 3 egg broccoli scramble with zucchini, green beans and green pepper. It was accompanied by a slice of watermelon, toasted French bread from Bread and Cie (great with a side of peanut butter) and the best mashed potatoes which are finished on the pan forming a crispy crust. So good. My americano arrived in an extra large cup, perfect to last through the meal. Not sure where they source their coffee but it was excellent. Definitely returning here when Iâm back in SD.

Sunday brunch is something we look fwd to every week. I know how hard it is to run a restaurant and I don't like to give bad reviews, however, in my opinion, PE does not deserve the four starts it has on yelp. The Chilaquiles were bland - go to Red Door or Prep Kitchen instead. The coffee was subpar as well and thankfully they didn't charge us for it. After having lived in SF and drinking Blue Bottle & Philz, we've become coffee snobs (thank goodness for Bird Rock CR and Calabria). Our server was friendly and the place was full of energy, but we won't be back for breakfast. We'll stick to Farmhouse Cafe in that area instead.

I believe the five-star reviews are based more on quantity than quality. If you are looking for generous portions of average food served in a homey atmosphere with good service then this is the place. I need to reserve a star or two for better food quality. Our server, Top Gun, had a nice suggestion, to try one "pumpkin 'n' spice 'n' everything nice pancakes served w/butter & maple syrup" ($5.25) a bit on the costly side, tasty and should have left my order there, the pancake was as big as a dinner plate, once you eat one pancake, do you really need more? Also tried one slice ($4.95) of the raisin bread french toast stuffed w/cream cheese served w/PH preserves & butter. A bit sweet for me, after two bites gave to my husband to finish. My friend got the traditional breakfast of two eggs any style with homemade chicken sausage ($11.95). My husband the spinach scramble ($12.25). Both commented that the portions were enough to share and should have only ordered one egg dish. The Irish breakfast tea at ($4.95) per tea bag, with lukewarm water, drives me a bit mad! It costs around .75 for high tea at best, I understand labor, energy, water, milk, sugar etc.. But when they brought out new water and it was still like baby's bath water, ugh! All right, I'm done, have one pancake, a few eggs, a black coffee and go home! You and your wallet will be lighter. Go by 9:30 and you won't have a wait! Enjoy!

We were trying to find a place more local than touristic and this was the place recommended by several local people during our stay in San Diego. I had crab benedictine eggs and my best travel partner had lemon-ricotta pancakes. I fully advise it, I am sure you won't regret!

So yummy! Would go there regularly if I lived in SD!! Ask for Jason!

I canât believe I havenât reviewed PHE?!? I have enjoyed brunches for well over 10 years! The food here is well seasoned, comforting and always delicious! My husband and I went here for dinner for the fiat time in Feb. We wanted a nice meal in a relaxing environment & thatâs exactly what we enjoyed! The food: We shared the yummy house salad which was well dressed in a savory lemon vinaigrette & had goat cheese and pecans. Ugh!! The best! My entree was the flat steak with buttery mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. Everything was spot on and enhanced by my glass on Pinot Noir. My hubby got the lamb burger with house cut fries. I managed to get a bite & wow! So good! Perfectly cooked, juicy & savory...the fries were generous and golden..so YUM! The young lady attending to us (her name escapes me) was friendly, gave great recommendations and was attentive as was the other staff that assisted. The restaurant itself is unique and lovely. I love that you can see parts of the original home in the layout of the space and the environment is warm, inviting and relaxing. Thank you PKE for a lovely meal. Ill be back for both brunch & dinner in the future! *Beer, wine & mimosas only

This restaurant has a lovely venue. It's in a converted house, with lovely patio seating out front that is dog friendly. The service was attentive and thoughtful. We arrived mid-morning and ordered Bloody Mary's to start (delicious!). I ordered the Spicy Chorizo Egg Scramble but asked that they leave the Serrano Chiles off in order to keep it from being too hot. The result was fantastic! Spicy enough to enjoy, with fresh tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. The roasted potatoes it came with were excellent, as was the french bread toast. My daughter ordered the Spinach scramble with a side of grilled salmon, and her boyfriend ordered the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. I tried a bite of each, and they were all delicious. We ordered Lattes afterward, and enjoyed the late morning sunshine while we planned our day. Highly recommended for fresh, high quality food, pleasant environment and good service.

I visited again on 9/30/07 and chose an outside table only to be attacked by numerous houseflies. My fellow diners joined me in a swatting contest until we all gave up and left our seats containing half-eaten entrees. The food was good and the service slow but honestly it's time to call an exterminator. Really, this a good place as I have been here before but this time around the food was okay but the service, wait time and their "little winged friends" convinced me that I will go somewhere else.

Stopped here on a glorious sunny winter day for an outdoor brunch. We had a very nice table for two outside with their BLT Bloody Mary, bacon makes everything taste better. My vegetarian guest had the regular Bloody Mary. For my meal I had the PH Benedict with avocado hollandaise sauce, bacon, tomato on ciabatta bread what a delightful treat. I was trying to decide between two items on the menu, so I asked the server her opinion. She gave a frank and honest answer about the PH Benedict. I was not disappointed. This is a place to visit again, and again, and again...

Service and menu are very good by any standard. I'd have given a 5 star review if the food were a bit more seasoned. . .but such is personal taste. Meals are cooked to order, portions ample, wait staff is exceptionally good.

The BBQ pizza was delicious - a nice mix of flavors a delicious crust. Must say that the carrot ginger soup was a tad too gingery for my taste, but the service was great and they took the constructive feedback very well.

OK, when you have to wait for an hour on Sunday afternoon, that's both a good and bad thing. It's good because that means people really want to go there. It's bad, because you have to wait an hour :) It's a small and quaint place with good food. It's just too small for all the people that want in.

Okay, so I know everyone is RAVING about the Crabcake Benedict BUT I did not think it was that great! The sauce was overwhelming and it tastes too fishy for my liking. Yea i know...crab cakes is seafood, but i've had it elsewhere and it wasn't so overwhelming. I did however love all of the other plates we ordered. (It was a group of 8 of us) I loved the chilaquiles and the egg scrambles! Both plates had a Mex/American fusion taste to them. They give you a lot of food for a great price !:) Oh one other thing, our waitress seemed like she was in a crappy mood..but at the end she was a lot nicer.

Fantastic Sunday brunch! Great service and atmosphere. Ordered the eggs Benedict, the fried chicken Benedict special and the flights of mimosas. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. Warning - large portions....youâll need a box!

This converted house-into-restaurant has a small outdoor patio for seating which was perfect for this April morning. The menu listed your

Always on point, never disappoints. The waiters and overall staff is great. In loved with the French Toast and lemon ricotta pancakes.

Ate brunch here last sunday- wonderful and different menu. Had the eggs benedict with crabcake- amazing combo of seafood and breakfast food. the breakfast potatoes were done just right. The menu includes lunch sandwiches too

I went here for lunch today with my friend. I came here on the recommendation of another friend who has been spot on target with other restaurant suggestions for San Diego. Unfortunately this place missed the mark. Maybe it was just an off day today. I'm not sure but I wouldn't come back based on my experience today. We sat outside. It wasn't busy at all. Today was a beautiful day. For some reason it took forever to get our food. Probably around 35 minutes or so even though it wasn't busy. Before coming I looked on their website to look at their menu but was surprised to learn they only have a limited brunch menu on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Seemed strange. Lots of breakfast stuff but we weren't hungry for breakfast. They should probably update their website to this fact. They only had a few sandwiches besides the breakfast stuff and it wasn't anything special. The waiter was friendly but it just took forever getting the food. I can't imagine how long it would have taken if it were busy.

A group of friends meet about every month to six weeks to catch up and enjoy dinner. This is our go-to spot! After a few other restaurants, we say, "We haven't been to Parkhouse Eatery in a while." The food is always great! The service is fun and sincere. We always enjoy our time at Parkhouse Eatery.

To all those blueberry, chocolate chip and even banana nut pancake fans, you need to try the pumpkin pancakes...LITERALLY TO DIE FOR!!! I came here on a Sunday afternoon for brunch. Waited about 30 minutes for a table for 4 and was seated promptly when it was my turn. Best thing about having a bf is the fact that I get to split food in half and I get 2 meals instead of one. I wanted best of both worlds (as all chicks do) and convinced him to order the pumpkin pancakes while I ordered some omlette that I can't even re-call. All I can remember from this meal are the pumpkin pancakes, which came at a decent priced, fluffy, moist and so unforgetable. Coffee was good here too. Service is friendly and prompt. Parking isn't too bad to find. Will be coming here again!

Parkhouse is so delicious. Everything on the menu is meticulously handcrafted. Their presentation is superb. For dinner service they offer large plates/portions and switch the tables to white paper on top. So this restaurant can be as casual or as nice as you are feeling, really. For brunch, they have an AMAZING menu and you HAVE to get a mimosa flight. However, get ready for really long wait times as they are quite popular during brunch hours. So far, everytime that I have gone for dinner, the place was so damn quiet. But it's a small restaurant, so it didn't have that spooky empty feeling of being alone in a huge restaurant lol. I tend to see the same servers and they are very knowledgeable and attentive.

This restaurant was recommended by someone we played golf with. Wow, what a great find. This Park Street area is so quaint and we would not have found it otherwise. The crab cakes appetizer was a full meal - 2 large crab cakes on top of a yummy corn salsa. And the special - a penne pasta with shrimp was fantastic. The have a nice wine list and good selection of draft beers. This will definitely be on our list of favorites when we visit San Diego again.

This adorable spot doesn't need my help but it is a not to be missed culinary experience. Everything we ordered was so delicious that I was disappointed there wasn't more room in my stomach to finish. Try the traditional eggs with the best mashed potatoes I've had in forever. The lemon ricotta and berry pancakes were yummified. The fruit garnishes were sweet and the white toast was perfect. I didn't care for the tea I ordered so they happily swapped it for decaf...and I was surprised to see they had hazelnut creamer. Service was friendly and efficient. I'll definitely be back on my next San Diego visit.

Right on Park Blvd. is a local eatery that serves up some great breakfast and lunch. The calamari wraps are delicious as are the lamb burgers. Even the wine list for a small eatery is satisfactory. The place can be raucous, because the main dining room is small. The service yesterday was ridiculous. The young man waiting on us pestered us as soon as we got there, but then forgot all about us when we were ready to order. His head was not in the game. The other kid was just as bad. We weren't amused with how little training they seem to have had, given the popularity of the place.

I had an egg breakfast with eggs, bacon and mashed potatoes. That was very good and the price very affordable. The coffee was not strong enough in my opinion but that may be a cultural bias.

Best crab cake ever! Seasoned with sun dried tomato sauce and cilantro. Great option for our late lunch! Sitting outside gave a cozy environment!

Ethelyn is the Best server I have ever had and I have eaten internationally. The food is fresh and prepared to order so you can customize it just the way you like. They serve generous portions. Great wine list and local beers on tap. Excellent happy hour. Dog friendly and has great Decor. Recommend eating outside on the street so you can people watch.

Tasty and reliable breakfast. Good choice of classics and more innovative dishes. Friendly staff. What's not to like?

Our group went here for dinner and for breakfast and it didnât disappoint. The dinner was excellent steaks perfect and the fish was good and prepared in unique ways making it an even better meal. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout both of our meals. At breakfast we had an upset baby and the staff were helpful with all of our groupâs needs. I enjoyed the BH benedict at breakfast, the kids enjoyed the pancakes, the only item we wouldnât get again would be the crab benedict was a little too fishy to start the day but other than that we would defiantly go back for either dinner or breakfast. Itâs fun with mix matched chairs and a really relaxed atmosphere.

We came across this sweet place on a rainy night. It was a very pleasant spot to have a very generous, tasty meal. The service that evening was warm and prompt. Their bread pudding, which changes daily at the whim of the chef, was surprising and delectable. Presentation was beautiful, music was nostalgic and not overwhelming. I would have given this place an even higher rating except my husband came back with a friend a few days later for a breakfast and found the service to be lacking. Breakfasts need more attention, with lots of coffee refills and that just didn't happen for him. Parking could be a problem. Although street parking is free, it is limited.

Great local restaurant with freshly prepared to order food. Love the sidewalk dining. Dog friendly too. Highly recommend the Mac and cheese. Rotating local brews on tap. Great wine list and the absolute best wait staff.

The hot caramel milk was wonderful (think hot chocolate). Breakfast was very good...lots of choices.

My kids and I were on vacation visiting my sister, who told us about this place. We went the first and last day of our visit and will definitely be back again. The brunch offers a wide variety of selection and the food is ahhh-mazing! My son has food allergies and both times that we went the wait staff was extremely attentive to his allergies and the cook did a fabulous job of being careful. Every single person that we encountered there was super friendly. Kayla (or Kaylee...?), Mikey, Ronnie, and Andrew were all awesome and went above and beyond. Since this was the first place we tried while in San Diego, it set the bar very high for every other place we ate at while we were there and there was only one other place even came close to the same quality as here. We will definitely be back here when we visit again.

Came here on a Monday at five pm. It was happy hour and ordered some items on the happy hour, the beef tips were overcooked and the meatballs were edible. The best thing about it is the outside area where we hung out with our dog but even that can't make up for the food. Minus two stars for the appetizers and the wine being uncomfortably warm.

My wife and i ate breakfast at the Parkhouse Eatery. It is in a place away from tourists. It is a very small but quaint place to eat breakfast lunch or dinner. We enjoyed our meal very much.

It was New Year's Eve and we found ourselves with no reservations. Parkhouse Eatery was so accommodating. They sat all 8 of us. And the food was fabulous. The portions were so large that most of us ended up sharing. We had the roasted chicken, seafood platter, boullibaise. Caesar with crab cake. Bread pudding. Chocolate cake. Delicious. All of it! And Reasonably priced. And Great service. Nice wine list. What more could you ask for.

Making a last minute decision to head down to San Diego (from Orange County) to have dinner with our son I did a search on an app to find some restaurants that would have a 7:30 PM reservation available (got to get lucky) and came across Parkhouse with multiple open spots around 7:30. Examined some reviews from different sites and as most were good we gave it a shot. Upon arriving we had the luck to find a parking spot in front of the restaurant. It did look like parking would be a challenge without that lucky spot. Walking into the restaurant we noticed the patio are were we requested to sit was mostly empty, walking into the restaurant to tell the hostess we were here I also noticed only about half the tables were seated. Staying would be against my rules (do not eat in an empty restaurant or one that someone is on the sidewalk hawking you to try it) but we did and boy are we happy that we did. We were promptly seated on the patio and complimentary bread and an olive tapenada that was so good. From the first bite of the appetizer I wondered why this place was not packed and why there was not a line waiting to get in. Our server Ethellene (sp) approached us and warmly greeted us. She had a terrific personality and her knowledge of the menu was spot on. I asked her as this was our first time (but not going to be our last) at Parkhouse which items are a must on the menu, and she pointed out a few and then gave detailed descriptions as to the preparation of the dish and the ingredients. My son and I spit the Polenta Cake (mushroom medley + marsala wine + leeks) exactly as described as she told us if you love mushrooms this is an item to get, the Thai wings as our appetizers while my wife got a small caesar salad. That Polenta Cake was amazing and from that bite I knew this was going to be a special dinner. Our Entrees consisted of the Bone in Pork Chop for me, the Flat Iron steak for my son and the Meatballs and Polenta for my wife. The Pork Chop was recommended by Ethelline (sp) as one of the top items on the menu and it was superb! It had just the right amount of spice and sweetness. It comes with a spicy type spread but I enjoyed it without it as I was able to taste all the flavors of this excellent Pork Chop on itâs own. My son loved his flat iron steak, cooked at the temp he requested. Another hit was the meatballs and polenta. My wife is not a big meat eater and she was kind enough to leave me some to have the next day. Of my was it good, great flavor in the meatballs and the polenta had the sweetness to perfectly match the meatballs. I just wish I had more of it to enjoy. The patio where we sat was so nice. There is a added structure for additional outside seating that blocks the view of the street and it makes the patio that much more inviting. With the combination of such good service, amazing food and such a nice atmosphere Parkhouse Eatery deserves and should be packed every night. We all canât wait to go again on our next trip down to San Diego to visit our son.

We are locals and have frequented Parkhouse Eatery for years. The food is remarkable and abundant. I can personally recommend the wedge salad, meatloaf, lobster ravioli, and any of their desserts. The restaurant is a converted Victorian style home, so reservations are highly recommended, as the indoor seating is limited. There is patio seating, as well, which is often a popular choice on beautiful San Diego days.

Best breakfast place in SD!

This location can get very busy on the weekends for breakfast, and it is no surprise. They have many items to choose from. Traditional fare and eclectic choices as well. Since we wanted to try so many things we decided on a breakfast dish and a Single pancake to share. There breakfasts are served with mashed potatoes, which I thought would be off but I was wrong! Cowboy steak Benedict with avocado hollandaise was wonderful. Standard scrambled eggs with sausage were well done and sausage was a nice juicy party. Lemon ricotta pancake with blueberry syrup.... sooo good!! Love the bits of ricotta and poppy seeds. I may ask for the blueberry syrup on the side. Goes well with pancake syrup as well. SERVICE: attentive and friendly, ensured we were happy with food and drinks Ambiance: lovely home feeling. I was surprised to find that it was NOT a home before this restaurant... it was a thrift store. Hmm?

This has been one of our favorite places for breakfast for the past 2 years. Food is great, service is great and the outdoor seating is usually the preferred option. During a recent visit, however, we were advised by the wait staff that they no longer do the no-charge menu substitutions that have distinguished Parkhouse from many other restaurants. It was a bit embarrassing to have bragged about the place to my family that was visiting only find that they've changed their policy - they now charge to make substitutions. That's why the value rating is only average. Thatâs not to say that we wonât continue to go, but we will be on the lookout for new places to check out. Suggestion to the owner â if it ainât broke, donât fix it.

I'm not a big fan of seafood, in fact I had recently started to eat it. At this place I've had THE BEST fried calamari wrap!!! I crave it! its delicious and light, healthy but so tasty!!! I also love their muffins and pancakes! My mouth is watering as I write about this place! Absolutely recommend!

The staff is friendly and happy. Must be a good place to work. The meal is decent. Bacon is very good. Good quality food. Price is slightly high but probably comparable to other places in San Diego.

Definitely enjoyed dinner at the Parkhouse as part of a work outing, and the food and service did not disappoint. The appetizers were quickly prepared and served, and for a main course entree I chose the 'plank' salmon. The fish was well-prepared with an excellent glaze, the vegetables well cooked, and the potatoes fresh. Will definitely dine here again - service was prompt and we were allowed to eat uninterrupted.

Found on Yelp, quaint little restaurant in a charming neighborhood. Outdoor seating, service was great and food was yummy, they had a homemade salsa which was delicious!!!! the BLT bloody Mary and the Flight of Bubbles was great

I've been coming to Parkhouse Eatery for a number of years, and it remains one of my faves in San Diego. It looks like a remodeled old house, with a few wonderfully decorated interior rooms, and an even better outdoor patio with umbrella-protected tables. The menu is California eclectic, and the food is deliciously prepared and served, with unbelievably generous portions. They make frequent changes to their menu, experimenting with new recipes; but it's all good! I'm a particular fan of their unique breakfast menu, and sitting outdoors on a balmy San diego morning is a major treat. It's all very charming and casual, with impeccable service. When I visit the city to see the Zoo and go to the Globe Theatre, this is a must-go-to-spot.

I love this place for breakfast and dinner! Vast menu with lots of great options and the best mimosas! and the portions are very generous. Service is amazing, everyone is super friendly and the owner is always there making sure we are being taking care of. My favorites are their pancakes for breakfast and their salmon dish for dinner.

Great brunch spot! Lots of food and great service. We sat outside with our dog and had mimosas and eggs benedict. Everyone enjoyed their meal!

This cute little "house" has a lot of charm. The waitress was incredibly attentive and kind. I was in a business meeting with 6 people and every dish was beautifully presented. I was amazed that everyone had leftovers. The food was quite yummy. I tried the crab cakes and farfalle. Everyone else had everything from salmon to pizza! What a wide variety of delicious options.

The BEST $19.00 steak dinner in San Diego! Flat Iron Steak: This thick juicy steak is around 8-10oz by my guestimatess, and is enlightened with a unique and wondeful tomato, basil, buffalo mozzarella, pomegranate balsamic glaze over it...perfection! Its also served with a generous serving of creamy gorgonzola mashed potatoes and veggies of the day, which my case was heirloom broccoli. What's extra crazy is that I wrote a review about this same savory succulent steak 5 years ago, and it was priced at $22! I have an Economics degree, have been working in financial services for 17 years, and this makes no sense...but I like it! Parkhouse Eatery is a beloved and venerable San Diego restaurant that has withstood all the food fads over the past 2 decades. Great dishes at great prices...I must try the brunch someday!

I'm not entirely sure where to start - highs or lows? How about the lows. Our server was rude, inattentive and generally snotty. Her tone was appalling from the first 10 minutes in our visit, and had I not been there with friends that raved about their food, I would have left. You can say the same exact thing in two different tones and be perceived completely differently - note to our server - an attitude adjustment would go a long way. Our friends that we met at the restaurant had called the evening before and asked how late they serve breakfast and when they start serving lunch, as people in the group had different preferences. The response they were given was "It's on our website." Really? What kind of answer is that??! This is your job...if you can't take it seriously or if you hate it, MOVE ON. We tried to time our arrival so that the group could enjoy breakfast and lunch, and when we asked to see a lunch menu before ordering, our server looked at us like we let our dog pee on her family member's grave. Instead of saying, "Sure, let me get that for you," she indignantly replied that it isn't lunch time yet and we'd have to wait 10 or 15 minutes. We are well aware, thanks (and side note, they start serving lunch at 11:30 am, it was 11:22 am when we asked for the menu). Once we ordered, we really never saw her again. She checked on us once. We did, however, get stellar customer service from Gerardo, who I think was a busser, but should really be a server. He asked more than once how we liked the food, and we enjoyed a lovely candid conversation with him about other menu items. He was very knowledgeable, and friendly, and he attended to us very well. The best part - he seemed to be passionate about their menu! Our waters, teas and coffees were kept full by him and he was efficient. He really made our morning okay after such a poor experience with our server. After our meal, we couldn't even get our server to come back so that we could pay the bill. Not only were we waiting (and ultimately took our check inside the restaurant to find someone to handle it), but there was a gal that came in alone, sat down, was given a water and then never checked on by the server again for at least 15 minutes. My suggestion would be to either employ better-experienced and pleasant servers, or have additional servers on shift if these issues stem from being understaffed. Unfortunately, the delicious food was overshadowed for me by the poor server. I am so glad that Gerardo turned things around, and I really did enjoy the food. It is very reasonably priced, the portions are large, and the execution was fantastic. Every item I tasted was delicious. Their menu was varied and I really had a hard time deciding as so much of it sounded tasty! We had three breakfasts and one lunch order - the lunch was the most expensive, and it was a Lamb Burger that was around $13.00 (and a huge portion). I would like to explore their menu more, however I would avoid our previous server.

I had the chilaquiles for brunch and they were out of this world AMAZING! Our server, Javier, recommended them when I was unsure about what to order, suggesting that I add chicken instead of chorizo... and he was totally right! I like when servers are knowledgeable and are confident in their suggestions. He also helped my friend to decide on the buttermilk pancakes (perfection) with raspberry sauce instead of the berry pancakes and was dead right on that suggestion, too. Thank you! Lastly, Tony, the owner stopped by our table to talk about local foodie favorites places to eat and brag about his great team, and he even gave my friend a jar of that raspberry sauce to take home. That personal touch made the experience even more special and I can't wait to go back for dinner and make this place my neighborhood favorite.

This is one of our favorite places for breakfast - the food and the sunrise mimosas are well worth the possible wait. Also very good for lunch and dinner.

We have eaten in this restaurant several times in the past. We had not been here for a while and, because we were going to a play across the street, chose this restaurant to have dinner. The service was friendly and prompt, the food was well prepared. Musssels for hors dâoeuvres were a joy, carrot ginger soup was delicious, the seafood combination was quite good. The big problem we had was a 3% surcharge. We did not see a warning about this charge online but it may have been there. We make a habit of not patronizing establishments that have this 3% surcharge. Some in San Diego even have a 4% surcharge, a punishment for the citizenry of San Diego insisting on minimum-wage. They could raise prices to accommodate increased overhead but choose this devious method to enable advertising lower prices. We routinely reduce our tip by 3% if they do have this surcharge. The restaurant itself is very pleasant but we will not return because of this unfortunate policy. Fortunately there are many restaurants in San Diego whhich do not have this surcharge, good restaurants with Fine food so take heart

Great place for breakfast... yummy egg dishes, potatoes, and pancakes

Cozy surroundings, and delicious food. Have eaten here several times and plan to go back soon. Get the pork chops!

We were looking for a comfortable place for breakfast on a Saturday, and many of the North Park/Hillcrest spots were crowded with a 30 plus minute wait time. Oops! Should have planned and made reservations. Then we thought about University Heights... We'd been to the Parkhouse Eatery for lunch and dinner, and enjoyed it, but what about breakfast. Great idea! The lemon ricotta pancakes were light, lemony and delicious. The Southwest crab benedict was rich, and a bit heavy on the California Chili Hollandaise sauce, but still very good. I would ask to have the sauce on the side. The raw tomatoes added a great texture and contrast to the crabcakes and focaccia. I love the old house made into a restaurant venue and there is great outside seating with umbrellaed tables. The wait staff was upbeat and friendly, which always makes for a great meal. Go and enjoy!

All-American good food served by very friendly staff. Cute restaurant with both inside and outside patio seating. Go early on Sundays and brunch can be quite busy here. We ate here 2 times in 2 days; that's how good it is. Very enjoyable!

We returned to San Diego recently after being away for several years and had a fantastic Sunday brunch. This is a great little locally owned neighborhood restaurant. The Portuguese sausage was incredible as was the French toast. They also offer numerous versions of eggs Benedict that all looked and sounded good.

This is a great place! Went there with my family and everybody loved the dinner including kids. Bouillabaisse was awesome (quite a big bowl), Mixed Seafood Grill (several fish served) was also great. Kids meal portions were quite big. Service was great.

Had dinner last Friday around 5'ish outside and the best thing was the service - excellent. I had the veggie pizza and while I don't care for thick crust as much as thin, the pizza - grilled using their bread dough was very good. It was too much for me to eat, so it was great the next morning with scrambled eggs - two meals for the price of one. My partner had the fish special, with three different types of fresh fish, mashed potatoes and green beans - it was also very good. The presentation of the food is certainly noteworthy. The portions are large and I like that b/c I like leftovers the next day.

Went to the Parkhouse Eatery with my daughter and son and respective spouses and grandson. My daughter lives nearby and this is their favorite neightbourhood restaurant. The food was excellent as was the service. They also have a nice wine list. This is the place to go if you are near University Heights.

I used to be, if not a regular, still a loyal customer of the Parkhouse Eatery in San Diego, and then I moved away and I hadn't been back in at least eight years. So it was with a little sense of trepidation that I found myself sitting on their patio waiting for my beer and the food that would follow. I shouldn't have worried. Not only have the kept their standards up, they've improved on what was already a great place. The food is a little more creative, slightly more offbeat. Delicious. So it's small, and intimate, and the waiters are knowledgeable, friendly, and unstuffy. All in all, a delightful place. So step a little ways off the beaten track and enjoy something truly wonderful.

I was in the neighborhood with friends and recommended Cafe on Park. I have always had great experiences here... and once again was not disappointed. The crab cakes were superb! If you are in University Heights area (near Balboa Park for reference) this is always a great option for a Snack or meal. It is in an old house and has outside dining as well. Love the neighborhood and the restaurant.

Delicious post-dinner spot. Sit outside on a nice evening and people watch. Great warm bread served before dinner. Quaint old mansion transformed. Excellent food.

Enjoyed a great dinner with family. Dover Sole was excellent...with a side dish of macaroni and cheese, it was even better. Waiter was friendly and very helpful. We ate outside. Nice neighborhood.

Memorial Day morning, we arrived about 9 am expecting a crowd and having to wait. Pleasantly surprised we walked right in to begin our breakfast experience. WOW! What great food, service and great ambiance. It was a cool San Diego morning so we chose to eat inside, the outside patio area is lovely. Our breakfast's were delicious, plentiful & presentation was beautiful. Coffee is deliciously strong yet not bitter or over powering, in other words, a perfect brew! My girlfriend & I shared the linguini with scramble eggs, spinach, tomatoes & salmon. So flavorful & not heavy. Along with this shared the lemon ricotta pancakes! OMG! A MUST TRY. Left overs were great the next day. Another friend had what he called the basics which he also enjoyed. I had been to this place once before for dinner and really enjoyed it and recall the positive experience. Located in an older part of San Diego, nice walking area. A local place to enjoy and very safe.

One of my favorite places since it opened

Located in a renovated house, this quaint location has great food, unusual combinations offered whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Even the appetizers surprise your palette. Meatballs on Polenta, Crabcakes on roasted com relish + sun-dried tomato mayo- I could go on, but you just have to try this place to believe it. Recommend seating inside if the weather is warm. The patio is great but not enclosed. The minute your food is served, flies are a problem. Just the way it is~

Always finding new places to go and eat bfast. This place was great! The eggs were cooked well, all the scramble options were great as well. The French toast options were awesome. We had the raisin, cinnamon French toast and it was so good! Needs more shade in the outside seating area.

DISCLOSURE: I'm a cheap and almost always have a coupon or groupon for "schmancy" sit down restaurants like this one. And I did indeed have a $20 for $40 groupon for this dining experience... However, I honestly think I would pay FULL price to eat here again...a rare admission. This elegant, rustic, but chic restaurant is pretty romantic and our server, whose name I wish I could remember, was great. Grilled Pizzeta, $8: I got a big appetite, and I'll vouch that its definitely enough for 2 people to share... a great tasty flatbread of gorgonzola, tomatoes, and olive tapenade. 8oz Flat Iron Steak, $22: Cooked perfectly(I like medium), juicy, and wrapped in a large slice of meaty procuitto, with a generous side of marscapone mash potatoes and veggies. Mac N Cheese Side, $6: Have you read a Mac N Cheese recipe? Its generally a huge mess to make yourself. I swear there was at least $3 worth of gorgonzola and marscopone in this fatty, delightful side dish. Considering that, labor, and cleanup...its A MUST EAT FOR $6! :D MINUS(Almost) 1 STAR: Wine glass pours seem much smaller here. I didn't have a pyrex beaker with me, so I have no proof, but I think they lean towards 4oz pours rather than 5-6oz. But maybe its just a really large glass. At $7+/glass, we probably should've just ordered a bottle.

As you might expect, The Parkhouse Eatery is on Park Blvd., in a house. Limited seating inside, but a very nice patio in front. We have had dinner there on a rainy night at a table in front of the fire place. Quite romantic. We arrived at 8:30 on a Saturday morning and got the last available table inside. A party of ten arrived shortly before us. Waiter was quite friendly, explained about the large party and we knew it would be a bit of a wait. If you have a specific appointment afterward, this might not be the place for you. Wide selection of menu items making a decision difficult. My wife had lemon something pancakes and I had French toast. Both were excellent. Breakfast for two was approximately $35. This is our go to place when in the neighborhood.

This restaurant is situated in an old home, and it really adds to the character of the place. We came for brunch on a Sunday morning, and were pleasantly surprised that we didn't have too long of a wait (the benefit of getting there before 10:00 a.m. I guess). The place was still packed inside and out though. If the weather cooperates, the outside seating looked pleasant. Inside was a bit stuffy and loud. This was minor compared to how much we enjoyed our meals. The lemon ricotta pancakes were light, crispy, and delicious, and my husband loved his scramble. Be forewarned â the portion sizes are very large. For how busy it was, we were pleasantly surprised at how great the service was. Our server was very attentive and our food came quickly. I will definitely be back.

In town for a trade show and needed a place to park myself and have breakfast while I worked. Google Maps said this was one of SD's best breakfast places and I had the Breakfast Pizza which was amazing! Wish I had room to eat it all!

The food is well thought out. I go mostly for brunch, and it's not your normal eggs and bacon. Their food is imaginative, large portions (we usually split a breakfast!) and well presented. Service is usually good to excellent. Their bus-people make up for any service shortcomings.

Had not been here in a year with different phases of Covid levels surging & waning, etc. Just love the Spicy Serrano Peppers (with soy chorizo) âTres Egg Scrambleâ. We were a party of four. We each had splits, too. Delicious! Good food & service & vibe. JaVie was our server and a familiar face at that! He is always friendly & efficient! đA good waiter really adds to the dining experience!

We stayed in the neighbourhood close to Parkhouse Eatery. It was the first restaurant recommended to us by our host, so as it was late we headed straight there. It was quite but it was very late when we arrived, we got to sit outside and enjoyed a great meal full of flavour. The service was exceptional and overall this is great place to go eat. If your in the neighbourhood go check it out.

We'd heard good things about Parkhouse and joined the crowd waiting outside for tables for Sunday brunch. The welcome desk predicted a 15 minute wait for a table. We waited 45 minutes. Once finally seated, we had to flag down a busboy to ask for a server. When she arrived we placed our order right away and then waited and waited for it to arrive. Sadly, once it appeared, though the portions were generous, the food was bland and tasteless. The surroundings are charming and the place is obviously popular from the size of the crowds waiting to get in, but we were disappointed and will not return.

Our family recently enjoyed a beautiful and delicious brunch at Parkhouse. The service is excellent, and the atmosphere is very cozy and relaxing. Beware that the queue starts early- so best to arrive early in the morning ( for breakfast). Parkhouse has a very diverse menu, there is something for everyone! The servers keep the coffee plentiful, and it is an outstanding venue for any event.. or just to enjoy a wonderful dining experience. We are looking forward to returning for dinner!

If you'd like a change from the boring breakfast - try this place. Menu has a wide variety. Breakfast was perfectly prepared and very fresh. I had the Portuguese Sausage which was great. Not to miss is their homemade jam and especially their mashed potatoes. Trust me, they're yummy and a nice change from home fries or hash browns. This place has great outside dinning too. This place is known for their holiday Brunch's, but I wouldn't holdout for that. Great, friendly service.

My wife and I just moved to the neighborhood and have been here 3 times in 3 months and have it down on the list to visit when my family is here. Great for brunch, plenty of vegetarian options including tofu and soy-rizo. Bonus: amazing brown sugar apple mimosa

When you first walk into Parkhouse Eatery, it feels as though you are walking into your own home...the atmosphere is that inviting. Then, you're greeted warmly and escorted to your table (ask for the table by the fireplace). When you're handed the menu, you'll notice many delectable sounding food items and your selection can be very easy...they are all wonderful. It's a restaurant to which you will return frequently.

My family and I had dinner at the Parkhouse one night during our vacation to San Diego. Our server was very sweet and friendly. We really enjoyed talking to her! I had the tomato basil pomodoro soup which was excellent and definitely more filling than I expected. The menu had a lot of variety. We sat outside; it was serene and a fresh change of atmosphere to view a quieter area of San Diego (University Heights) that was not as touristy or as crowded as other sections of San Diego.

Great Breakfast, pumpkin pancakes, chiliquiles, allm good stuff

You might say that I am a benny fan! I love Eggs Benedict- it will probably be the thing that clogs my arteries and causes me to die. BUT, at least I will die happy. I love the twist on the traditional Eggs Benedict at the Parkhouse Eatery....bacon instead of ham and an avocado hollandaise sauce. YUMM!! I have eaten it there several times. The Bloody Mary's on a Sunday morning are wonderful!! The service has always been good. The place is always packed, so expect a wait when you get there.

My hubby really enjoyed this place for breakfast. We ate there 3 mornings in one week. They serve mashed potatoes with skins on instead of hash browns. The toast was unique and they make a different jelly every day. A piece of fresh fruit on your breakfast plate also. One day I ordered a muffin and I got a HUGE banana nut muffin that was the size of a small pie. I could only eat 1/4 of it. You can eat inside or out. Inside was unique as they had very cute "assorted wooden chairs" that didn't match throughout the restaurant. We both loved the chairs with the arms. Very comfy.......Service was fantastic!!!

If you're in San Diego I highly recommend visiting here! Great food, friendly people, worth the wait if there is a line! :)

I had a very standard scrambled eggs, bacon, and fruit pancake. What kept me from saying it was very good is that I found the eggs to be a little dry and the syrup was not real maple syrup. My cappuccino, however, is possibly the best one I have ever had. The atmosphere is also charming. I enjoyed sitting at a small table tucked away in the back of the patio (I was dining alone). The only real problem was that my table was literally the only one on the patio that most closely resembled a dirty mini picnic table. There was no way it could actually be cleaned and on the left side the wood was sticky. I surveyed every other table on the patio and every other was a clean, modern plastic type. How/why the one I had remained is a mystery.

This place in INCREDIBLE from the food to the service! The outdoor area is also dog-friendly which is a treat. If you haven't tried this place, GO! If I loved near, I'd go every day!

Tucked away in a neighborhood you will find this hidden gem not too far from the zoo. There is typically a wait for breakfast but it's so worth your time. It's small and quaint but they serve the most delicious breakfast. The Chorizo hash is phenomenal. Large servings as well so they are easily shared.

My San Diego-dwelling host offered me a choice of restaurants for breakfast - Parkhouse Eatery's website, especially their menu, blew the rest out of the water! The prices are appealing even before you realize how generous the portions are...and the service is friendly and accommodating. My friend can't have dairy, so the cream-cheese stuffed French toast was out, until the server said it would be no problem to prepare it plain. I had the scramble with PH chicken sausage (homemade sausage is irresistible), spinach, mushrooms and parmesan - was really looking forward to the homemade PH jam but couldn't indulge since it was strawberry. This was the only disappointing part of the meal, and it was due to my allergy, not the fault of the restaurant. I was glad that we'd looked at the menu online before coming in or I'd still be there trying to decide what to have. Every single item sounds delicious. Breakfast is my favorite meal to have out in a restaurant, and this one really hit the spot. I'd definitely try Parkhouse Eatery for lunch or dinner - but whenever I'm in San Diego, I'll have to have breakfast there.

This place does a great breakfast! Do yourself a favor & try the raspberry puree with your pancakes. The scrambles are fantastic!

Cute restaurant with stained glass windows, great patio out front. Fantastic service and great food. We ordered the Nutella Challah Bread French toast. I think I died and went to heaven. So yummy. Husband ordered one of the scrambles. Also excellent.

We really enjoy Parkhouse Eatery for breakfast with the kids. But sometimes they move a bit slow, especially for parents with a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old. I even took a girlfriend and her two little ones there with rave reviews of the place and then they were out of crayons and took 45 minutes to get our food to us! If it weren't for Restaraunts.com gift certificates, I probably wouldn't go back after that nightmare.

We picked this restaurant because we were traveling with several friends that had a number of food preferences, one of us is lactose-intolerant and can't eat fruit of any kind; another is a vegetarian; still, a third is a fine-dining aficionado. We looked at the restaurant's menu and we convinced that every one in our group would be content. We weren't wrong. We made a reservation for 7 and mistakenly arrived 30 minutes late but the restaurant was more than gracious about it. The service was prompt and attentive. I had the field greens which was excellent and the special Ono which, while fresh and tasty, was a little more peppery that I expected based upon the server's description of it.. Desserts were great and most of use were satisfied with their meals. We lingered over coffee and were not rushed (in spire of our late arrival).

Park house is the perfect spot to enjoy a wonderful dinner with that special someone. Located in an old home that was once the St Vincent's thrift store in University Heights. Ethelyn the manager will make you feel like you are family. The food is excellent and reasonably priced for the quality. Service is great. Brunch can be busy but evenings are relaxed with a great atmosphere. The cedar plank salmon, flat steak and mixed grill seafood plate are favorites. There are always good pasta specials. We look forward to our next visit with Ethelyn and our next meal at this wonderful restaurant.

Lunch on a Tuesday; the servers were attentive and friendly but slower paced than I expected. My green chili chicken burger may have been the culprit as all breakfast items were served within minutes of ordering. The chicken breast was perfectly done but the green chili was bland. I was looking for a New Mexico kind of hot that didn't make it to this sandwich. The outdoor seating area is comfortable and airy. Dogs are welcome. There was now hurry to vacate my seat. Fresh iced tea and a good home made hot sauce helped round out my meal.

Saturday morning we met our best friends for breakfast at Parkhouse Eatery. Street parking can be tough but we found a metered space not far away. Our friends were already seated on the patio. I had a good cappuccino and my wife the Mexican Mocha. The breakfast portions are huge. Splitting breakfast is probably the wise thing to do. Of course we did not do that so we boxed up for breakfast at home the next day. I had the very tasty turkey Chorizo & egg plate with potatoes. The food was good and the service was fine.

Open every day of the week, breakfast/brunch and lunch until 2:30 and dinner in the evening. We went for brunch and enjoyed a table next to the sidewalk. My Tres Egg Scramble with spinach, artichokes and feta was very good. Accompanied by well-browned roasted potatoes and toast, it was a good meal and more than half the potatoes came home with me. My husband had one of the "Benedicts" -- with an avocado hollandaise we were both curious about. It was delicious. He had the mashed potatoes and they were yummy. We're looking forward to going back on a Tuesday evening for their Two for $42 special.

A soul-satisfying lunch midweek was just what we needed! Our server was very helpful in making suggestions; his lambburger w/gorgonzola (cooked to a perfect med rare) and my chicken burger w/asiago were DELISH; very filling! Other diners were enjoying their meals at a leisurely pace as well. Spotless tables, linen napkins - they have their priorities right! Atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable; we ate outside. All the tables were shaded w/sturdy umbrellas.

The restaurant is in a residential neighborhood in a former house. Wood floors, warm lighting, a place to have amazing comfort food. We came here the day after Christmas and the place was packed! You can dine inside or outside on a wonderful patio. The service was top notch...warm and attentive. The food was even better. We had scrambled eggs, pancakes (lemon/ricotta and berry) French toast and a breakfast linguini with eggs, tomatoes, basil and feta. All were outstanding. Even the mashed potatoes, fruit, and toast were delicious.

OK - parking can be a little difficult, but it is worth a visit here for breakfast, lunch or Happy Hour. There is a patio for nice days, but there is plenty of room inside, too. The interior is showing a little wear, but that has no real impact on your experience.

A genuine neighborhood gem, but I think the come back again factor is the friendly staff. The menu is more promising than the food, or maybe the enthusiasm with which itâs described leads to unrealistic expectations. In any case youâll have to resist inviting your waitress to sit with you. Portions are ample so donât go crazy with the appetizers.

We were renting a house in the University Heights area and when checking out the neighborhood we noticed the ParkHouse and decided to try it for Breakfast. It was a nice morning so we sat outside on the patio. The food was excellent and the service was great. I am on a special diet and have to restrict a lot of things (e.g. Dairy, Gluten) and they had many options on the menu and were very accommodating to my requests for substitutions. I had a great vegie scramble. My husband had no issues with food and had a spaghetti, eggs and bacon dish that he loved, my niece had special coconut pancakes that she said were heavenly. We were all thrilled with the food and commented that we would have to try it again during our stay. Then later that day when talking with some friends of family that live in the area they mentioned that the ParkHouse is their favorite dinner place. So, a few of us went back another day during our stay to have dinner and it was fabulous. Not fancy, but just delicious! And the service was wonderful. It was a quiet night when we were there (a Tuesday), and maybe on a busy night we would not have had such a great attention, but I got the sense that we experienced the norm. Our waitress was very accommodating, suggesting options for each of us that were perfect. I highly recommend this place and will definitely go back next time I am in San Diego.

We arrived two and a half hours before curtain time and told them we had a play to get to. It took forever to place our order. People who came in way after us got served and were through before we got our food. Each of the four of us was served in succession so no one was eating at the same time. My food came last...and she spilled it on my sleeve. We ordered dessert (what were we thinking?), which took nearly half an hour. We finally said don't bother and she got snarky saying It's almost up. It had ice cream that was melted. Sad event

The menu includes comfort food with a modern twist. On a warm day, sitting on the patio is wonderful. This is a great place to bring out of town guests.

Sometimes we go to this restaurant when attending a play at the theatre across the street. We like the soups and appetizers, but have been disappointed by the salads, You might want to get the dressing on the side. The pork chop and half=chicken entrees are good and the bbq lamb ribs are wonderful. Itâs in a charming old house that also has patio seating.

We got a recommendation to get our breakfast at this place. Well why not. It is located at above mentioned address. Parking is not a problem. One can eat inside or outside. Given the beautiful wheather we decided to sit outside. Normally when it is at a street address bypassing cars interfere your event with noise or freshly created carbondioxide but this time it didn't bother us. Food was great. Fresh, well cooked and with great flavors. Service was pretty good. We would like to come back but unfortunately we had a very short stay at San Diego and had to go. But we will make a note in our system to come again if we are around.

My daughter and I stopped in for breakfast. The menu was impressive! The portions were huge. The muffin of the day must be tried. The service was a little overzealous is that can be such a thing. Seemed in between each bite someone was stopping to see how things were or if we needed more of anything. Not truly complaining about that because it's nice to see people who care about their customers but it did make it a little hard to peacefully finish our mean. We will go back!

The only thing going for this restaurant is the outside seating and a few things on the menu. Their lemon ricotta pancakes are great but the Clubhouse sandwich was strange on texas toast, turkey thick sliced, unwielding to hold and very unusual. Prices were too high for the pancakes and sandwich. Also no salad selection except caesar and green - also I heard them tell someone no soup today. The wait staff was apathetic and slow - never refilled drinks - could have had a smaller portion of food but never was offered until I asked after the fact. It's too bad we were looking forward to our meal there -

Last night we decided to treat ourselves to a local favorite, the Parkhouse Eatery. We hadn't been in a while and wanted a special dinner. We weren't disappointed. The staff is professional, friendly and attentive. We had a window seat for great people watching and the outside area is delightful too. Our main courses were steaming hot, perfectly presented and prepared. I love lamb and the hot sauce with the sweet sauce - delicious. They serve fresh bread with homemade pesto! My salad was crisp, fresh and seasonally appropriate! YUM< YUM !!! You can easily split a dish and have their fresh desserts! New to the area, visitor or local - this is an outstandingly consistent and well loved spot. Time to go again!!

California style cuisine dishes with a mix of southwest and healthy twists on standard fare. Most everything is good with a large outside dining area in front.

This is one of those rare finds in a city where everything is great and I can bring visitors without the need to recommend a specific entree. Go for breakfast...go for lunch...go for dinner. Maybe all 3? Enjoy!

Everyone is friendly and welcoming at this charming indoor/outdoor restaurant int he middle of University Heights! Servers help one another serve your drinks and dishes, food is delicious, hot (or cold) as required for the order and timing is a priority on presentation with everything from the first water to the bill at the end...sit and enjoy your coffee in the surroundings after you've finished. The chef prepares really tasty food, all the wait staff is helpful and friendly and the atmosphere is beyond expectations...fits right into UH..comfortable...you'll come back again and again!!!

Celebrated a birthday there last month and the entire evening was perfect. We brought a birthday cake and for a small fee they cut and plated it along with a birthday song. We will return!

Stopped here on the recommendation of our concierge. Awesome atmosphere. Sat outside. The Latte was perfect, as well as the food.

The energy of this restaurant is small - town & very cozy. The tables & chairs are all a mesh of random pieces of furniture.. kinda like you are having supper in an antique store. Our server was a young woman named Abbie who was very delightful. She was knowledgeable and to the point. She also had great salesmanship skills. My date ordered the bolognese while I tried the scallop special of the evening. Both dishes were very tasty and well presented. The wine selection was nice without being overwhelming. They have four rotating draft beers that are all local. As tempting as the dessert menu was, we chose to pass. But we are planning to come back in the future, with a game plan to save room for the cobbler! This restaurant is a must :)

The Parkhouse Eatery opens at 5 pm. Located on Park Blvd with no parking lot, only street parking. We went early on Sunday so parking was not a problem. Nice selection of entrees. The Seafood Grill was excellent along with the Pork Chop. They also have small plated dinners for the light eaters. Great service, cozy atmosphere, happy hour drinks. Highly recommended.

Went out with friends for dinner. The Parkhouse Eatery is a quaint neighborhood. Home like feeling. The staff is friendly and great. Our food was great. Started with the Crab Cake and Tri Tip. Then the Kale Salad and Wedge. To Mac & Cheese, Meatloaf and Chicken Adobo. We all shared and loved it all. Had a wonderful dinner and nite out. Will be back..

Our concierge Gordon Barry of the Hilton Resort & Spa recommend we have breakfast here. We weren't disappointed, it was like a classic homemade breakfast. Flavourful food. Portions were big. We were full for the day.
Really great breakfast enjoyed by all
a friend who is a local to the area recommended we visit for breakfast. It was definitely a great choice. The blue cornmeal pancakes were huge and great tasting. The panfried linguini was delicious. The Tres Eggs selection were hearty servings and delicious. Wish I would have ordered the mash potatoes though as my side, they were way better than the roasted potatoes. My friends raved about the Bloody Mary with Bacon and drank every last sip. Will definitely be visiting when in the area again.
