Great Food—less than great service

By SpaScooby |

Was told the food here was good and it truly was. We were seated quickly, however, it seemed that our server was not informed he had a new table. We had to get up and ask someone to send him over. Things went pretty smooth after that. I had the catfish with cornbread dressing and greens...delicious. My friend had the 1947 Chicken with candied yams and greens...also delicious.

Fried chicken was the highlight of our tailgate party!

By rwethereyet850 |

Ordered a pan of the fried chicken for a football tailgate party and it was simply delicious! Easily fed ~15 of us with chicken to spare. Saw some additional offerings I'd like to try when I was picking up the food - everything looked yummy. Within walking distance of the Benz - highly recommend.

Poor Service and very bland food

By Whitney S |

Was told that this restaurant was a must, while staying in Atlanta. Rich history and tradition every where but in the food and service. Famous fried chicken was dry and flavorless, greens were not on point as server suggested. $90 for lunch is pricey when you wait 35 minutes for your order. My 80 yr old mother said its obvious that they're living on the name and reputation from the 50s and 60s and dont care about this generation. Take care of your guest or they'll go somewhere else.

Not bad but appetizers are small

By TerrapinPaul |

I took a client here last night with his wife. The restaurant was rather empty to be honest. No trouble getting a seat. Service was fine for the most part. Our server was new and had a little bit of polishing to do. Appetizers were tasty. Disappointed that the crabcakes were really nothing more than the size of a walnut. Prices were reasonable. Portions were large. I would probably go here again.

Fails expectations & Rude Manager

By H911UProbertp |

Ten of us sent Father’s Day. We’re told “NO” reservations, arrived at 1pm, not very busy, seated at 125. FINALLY received our food over an hour later at 240pm. The food was average at best. Have heard raves about the chicken and meatloaf, both at best average. Best thing was only the cornbread. Again, received put food over an hour later at 240. At 335, manager came to our table and told us we had to leave immediately because they had a ‘reservation’ for the table NOW! A reservation we were told did not exist Ob Father’s Day. An expensive, rude failure. We did notice that when Andrew Young came in he immediately got a table with his entourage and received their food in minutes. Should have been an ambassador! Don’t waste your time and money as they are living in the past. It’s horrible.

Average Food

By ImaginaryFigment |

We attended a birthday dinner here, the interior & exterior of the building were nice. The staff were friendly, however we were not informed until after we were seated that groups of 6 or more could not be split on different checks & had to be paid as one check & with credit card only. It would have been great to have this information while the reservation was being made, so everyone could've been prepared when they arrived. Service was fast, however the food was average at best. The rice & gravy was bland, the chicken tenders were dry and the mac &cheese and cornbread were decent.

Horrible Experience

By Janeen M |

My daughter's prom was last night downtown Atlanta. While my daughter was at her prom, my husband and I ate at Paschal's. of course, we had reservations. I decided to choose this restaurant to break our Ramadan fast for the evening. I ordered fried green tomatoes, and they were great. For my entree I ordered the oven baked chicken, mac and cheese and rice with grave. My husband ordered salmon, mac and cheeses and french- fries. Ok. So, my sweet tea was so sweet I could not drink it. The peach lemonade was the same. Unfortunately, they did not have bottled water. Our waitress was a really nice young lady with very little experience. But she was really nice. The restaurant was not crowded but the service was so slow. It took us over an hour to receive our meals. When my husband received his, they had the wrong kind of fish. They gave him blackened catfish and not salmon. Another waitress apologized and said our waitress got it wrong and they were going to bring the salmon. In the meantime, my husband ate a spoonful of the mac and cheese and his french fries. The previous waitress came back 20 minutes later stating that the kitchen is closed, and we will not be getting the salmon. There was a party of 9 next to us and they have not received their entrees, so I did not understand why the kitchen was closed. I could not believe it. We waited over an hour for our food and it was wrong then they had the audacity to say the kitchen was closed and started putting the chairs on the tables. SMH. To compensate us, they took off the $12 which was the price for a piece of salmon. I ended up giving my cat the catfish and my dry chicken, and my dry muffin. I wasn't upset just disappointed. We had a banana in the car and my husband ate that.

great homestyle cooking

By Larry M |

If in Atlanta International and want some food that is not your usual try Paschals. Great southern homestyle cooking, fried chicken, fish, greens, mash potatoes, cornbread etc.

Great Food, Poor Service and Management

By Vanessa G |

in the last week I feel horrible about giving this Atlanta staple a bad review. But, unfortunately my most recent visit to Paschal's may have been a deal breaker. This restaurant is notes for excellent soul food. But the service lately has been horrible which makes for a terrible eating experience. I went to Spelman and have been coming here for 15 years. I live out of town, so whenever I am in Atlanta I make a point to stop at Paschal's. During my most recent visit, I along with college BFF's family decided to make a quick run to Paschal's. We waited 45 minutes and encountered horrible service only to find out the kitchen had run out of food; at least 50 people were turned away that night, hungry. I really hate to stop coming here because of the history and great food. But unless Paschal's undergoes a service and management revamp I will not be back. Paschal' s do better, please! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!

Wonderful service and food!

By Nicole K |

I surprised my husband and took him here for Father’s Day 2017. We had not been for many years only because we live about two hours away. The food was so delicious and the service was excellent. There buffet was so massive and the quality of the food was superb. I made reservations through Open Table and I am so glad I did. We will be visiting this wonderful restaurant more often.

amazing all-around

By Marlaya Ross |

although the service was a bit lacking, the warehouse walls filled with historical images of black civil rights figures (as well as the story of the restaurant), and the food itself were very satisfying. we definitely enjoyed our time in Atlanta exploring the area and Paschal's was the perfect way to top off the trip, especially since we were looking for something cultural and tasty.

Real Soul Food

By Phavored1 |

I ate my vegetables. I can't eat just anyone's veggies. This was well seasoned food and the atmosphere is really nice. The portions are plenty, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I'm looking forward to going back.

The yams was the best part of the entire meal.

By KaramelKissess |

First time visit to Paschal's. Ordered the their signature dish - fried chicken, mac and cheese, and yams. Service was slow but server was very nice. The yams were great. It was the best thing about the entire meal. Mac and cheese was very cheesey and somewhat flavorful. Fried chicken was very very disappointing. It was dry. Cornbread was just ok. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the entire experience a 5. It was just ok. Wouldn't return a second time.

Good food but slow service

By BarbT_Phila_PA |

Our group stayed at the Clarion hotel next door and arrived about 8:50pm but was too late for dinner as they closed at 9:00. We were very disappointed as there weren’t any other restaurants locally open. We had to drive and find some place open until 10:00. Paschal’s should consider staying open to 10:00 during the week to accommodate hotel guests arriving hungry. We did try again on Friday night as they were open until 11:00. The food was good but service was very slow. There were a lot of people waiting at least an hour while numerous tables were empty. My guess was not enough servers available. The other problem was parking. Due to limited parking spaces there is valet parking which takes away from spaces for hotel guests.

Date Night - Good

By Bonitaruss |

We made 7pm reservations and got seated around 7:30pm. Not to bad for a Friday night. Dorian was our waiter. We were seated all the way in the back by the kitchen. The tables are lowwww and far away from the chair. But that was okay too. We both ordered the Paschal's Fried Chicken. Told my husband that if the chicken came to the table warm or worst cold...I was going to have a problem since we had to wait so long to get it. To my surprise it was hot and fresh (right out of the oil) delicious. The favor reminded me of my grandmothers chicken. It was GREAT! The green beans were sauteed to a perfect crunch. The blackeye peas could have used just a touch more favor, but that is just how I like my beans. The mac and cheese was flavorful. The frosting on the cake was the CORNBREAD. It was so good we ordered another basket. Keep in mind the first basket (about 4 mini squares per person) was free with the meal. The extra cost $$. But that was okay too. Dorian, our server, was professional and courteous. He keep us informed about our meal and checked on us from time to time. The thing I liked about Dorian was that my husband asked him a question about the owner (Mr Russell). Dorian gave us an answer that we Googled after he left the table. Not even 5 minutes later, Dorian came back to the table to correct the answer he gave us because he discovered he had misinformed us. We will go again. The 4 rating is for the extended wait for our food.

Started off slow… but ended GREAT

By gogogoin2010 |

When we first arrived at Paschal’s the restaurant was not full, and there was no one in line before us BUT the hostess was on the phone. She didn’t acknowledges us not did she stop her conversation. She then continued to talk, not acknowledging us for about the next 5 min. When she was done, helped us. (not a great start) Once we were seated the night starting looking up. We had the best waiter: Masai was a wonderful young man! He was professional, knowledgeable, attentive and pleasant. He gave great recommendations for food. We started with the Southern Fried Appetizer Platter- OMG!! FRIED green tomatoes, pickles, and catfish!! Then Paschal’s Shrimp and Grits and Fire Grilled Salmon with Greens, Yams Southern Mac and Chees and potato salad for sides. For dessert, Paschal’s Award Winning Peach Cobbler! The entire meal was great. Just enough seasoning and Southern YUM! Once done, I was glad to give wonderful words about our young waiter to the hostess from earlier. She was pleasant and really nice to talk to. I was glad we had more time to talk! All in all, Paschal’s was a great place to eat. If you like “soul” food or have never really had it. Paschal’s is a great place to dine while in Atlanta.

Best Dinner at Paschal’s

By luvalab |

We were told this place had the best fried chicken and sides and it lived up to that expectation. We were greeted warmly, seated promptly and the waiter was very pleasant and efficient. Our orders came quickly. We started off with the green fried tomato which was great. Our fried chicken was crispy yet moist and I don’t think you could go wrong with any of the sides. My husband raved about the collard greens. We topped it off with a peach cobbler. Great dining experience!

Delicious 🤤 Soul Food

By awookk |

I went here today with my mom and her friend I was treated to lunch. We tried a catfish plate together with tartar sauce until our food came. They got water to drink I got the strawberry 🍓 lemonade it was good. My mom friend got a salad with salmon and broccoli. My mom got a veggie plate with Mac and cheese, broccoli and yams. I got the signature plate 1947 I got Mac and cheese with collard greens and fried chicken. The flavor is delicious and tasty for the Mac and cheese and greens. I ate the chicken last it was crispy, crunchy and juicy. It also comes with cornbread. I didn’t take any pics. The atmosphere is great so much history about the civil rights movement. Portraits all on the walls. I was asked about my poetry book 📖 that I wrote by my mom friend.

Trying to support the legacy

By Kitty Carter-Wicker |

I have been a patron of Paschal's for several years and I have hosted a few events at Paschal's including a class reunion. Lately, the service has been horrible. The website says catering but they don't deliver; they don't supply paper ware and plastic ware and they don't open until noon. What??? I ordered food via Uber Eats earlier in the year, no problem. I ordered via Uber Eats last week and the order was cancelled with no explanation. Who is managing Paschal's? This is not how you keep the legacy going. This is not how you grow your business. Someone who cares about the legacy needs to buy and operate Paschal's. I am very disappointed with the service.

Great food and service

By Victoria Mac |

We had dinner there because traffic was so bad we were trying to find a restaurant we could walk to from our hotel. We called in advance to see if we needed reservations and they gave us the all clear since they weren't too busy yet. There were three in our party and we enjoyed catfish and fried chicken. Our sides were grits, collards, candied yams and mac and cheese. Plus, we enjoyed the cornbread bites while we were sipping on our wine. Desserts were good, too--we had peach cobbler, sweet potato pie, and bread pudding. Very sweet and attentive waitstaff. Lots to like about this place.Glad we got to enjoy their very Southern menu!

Loved the Mac & Cheese, but chicken was burnt

By orlandofoodlover18 |

I heard a lot about this place, so I was excited to try it. Overall it was just ok. My fried chicken burnt. I had to take the skin off it was so bad. But my Mac & cheese and mashed potatoes were really good. Overall, it was not worth the hype, unfortunately.

Watch your Bill, False extra charges

By R J J |

Ate here when in town for convention. Initial staff were very friendly and courteous. Meal was slow coming but had a good flavor. When bill came i was billed for extra side which according to menu were included. When I pointed this out, the manager started to disagree with me but i showed him the menu, whereupon he said it is a misprint. Either fix your menu or fix your billing software.

Bad experience and overpriced

By Tini |

The worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. We ate Thursday August 23rd 2018 at 6pm. The waitress named Wynnita, is the most rude waitress I ever saw, a lack of service and attention, not nice, she did not look at the clients, she just slide the plates for us without any care and one time her long braids were touchin one of the dishes!, it is not about not just us, a table of 3, I notice she did the same attitude at all clients/tables assigned to her. I complained to the manager, he did not care about her attitude at all, she kept doing her nasty performance. About food: nothing to be impressed, fried chicken is just a regular one, I think you can get a better dish at KFC lol. I ordered fried sweet potatoes with rum sauce, they say it is a house dish: let me tell you, first arrived the sweet potatoes, 15 minutes later arrived the sauce because I claimed it!. The sauce: where is the rum???? just a simple sweet sauce. At the end I was so frustated I wanted to sweet my dinner with desert: I ordered bread pudding with rum sauce. Horrible! the rum sauce was the same in the sweet potatoes, in the same serving paper bowl, nothing different. My husband had to get up in go to the bar to ask for a beer becasue never arrived at out table; my uncle did not received his 2 sides of vegetables This place is a joke, period. Why people give such many stars??? becasue maybe they never went to a good place....I just wanted to eat traditional Atlanta local food, so disappointed!!! and overpriced for what they do; never more will go here when I visit Atlanta (I travel here every two years).

Fried chicken!

By AnonymousVBG |

So glad our food tour did a stop here. It might be a good thing that we just had a small taste here or I might have eaten a whole fried chicken if left to my own devices! The drumstick I had was so juicy and tender, the batter tasty and not greasy--yum! We also had their candied yams which were so, so good. I didn't enjoy the cheesy grits, but maybe that's an acquired taste. I only gave it four stars since we didn't try enough or have a full experience for me to say if it's worth five stars but if we're ever in Atlanta again we'll be back!

Very poor service, great shame

By daniel f |

Great looking restaurant with good food, but poor service to say the least. Shame because they let themselves down.

Great Food

By molliefish |

My husband promised me that Paschals had the best fried chicken and one day he will take me. Time did not permit for us to dine together but he will honor his dinner experience at Paschals another day. My girlfriend came to town and by default we ended eating at Paschals. I ordered the classic chicken, Mac n cheese, string beans. Next time I will ask if I can have wings instead of the chicken breast. Nothing we ate at Paschals was disappointing. Food was delicious. Server was polite and could come back at least to check in but she gets a break because I believe she was managing 10 tables from what I could tell. Overall experience was delightful. We live in cobb county and can’t wait to go back with my hubby next time.

To Go plates are HORRIBLE!!!!

By Luv2Teach |

I would not know how the food tastes…because the paper to go plate literally collapsed after the food soaked through it and ruined my entire meal!

Go for the atmosphere, stay for the food!

By BillSx2 |

Wonderful experience, the food was great, service exceeds expectations and a fun atmosphere. Enjoy lunch or dinner.

Tired Food Go Elsewhere

By Kmtsg |

Thought there were so few diners because it was a bit late for dinner, but after eating here I’m guessing it’s a sign of the uninspired food. Average fried chicken. Mac and cheese was like something you get in a school cafeteria. Collards were mushy and boring. Peach bubble drink my friend ordered was vile.. IDK what kind of alcohol they used but it tasted like lighter fluid. Worst dining experience I had in Atlanta. One positive is that the waitress was very friendly.

Disappointed

By Deborah T |

My daughter and her friends were visiting from Memphis and wanted to go to the historic Pascuals in downtown Atlanta. Upon arrival, we were seated at a table that no one seemed to know who was the wait person. Finally after waiting 20 minutes, a young lady came up to advise it was not her table, but she would take out drink order (we were about to leave). We got out drinks and she also took orders for our appetizer and entrees. We waited an hour to get the food and was told that the kitchen was backed up even though the restaurant was not crowded. When we finally got our food after being there for 1.5 hours the food was ok, but not great. Beautiful venue, but the food was not good and the service poor. Use it as a photo op and a place to get a cocktail. Don't bother with dinner in the dining room....who knows how long you might have to wait and the entrees were not good, yet over-priced. It appears they are leveraging the fact that Dr. King and other people in the Civil Rights movement used the location for meetings etc. The restaurant needs to get back to the basics of providing excellent customer service and food to attract and retain customers.

Very good food - Inconsistent service and presentation

By Andrea C |

This might not be the place to go if you're in a hurry. I dined here two nights in a row since I was staying at the hotel 50' away. I was served relatively quickly both nights, but I also witnessed (both nights) people who ordered before me not getting served until I was almost done with my food. Also, the person next to me ordered the exact same meal but it came out in very different serving vessels, I had little ramekins, he had bowls. Not sure if it's because they ran out of dishes (at 5:30 pm on a Tuesday) or if its because I'm a woman, thus I got a more petite serving. The food is very good. I live in the South and they serve Soul Food. Their Collard Greens were the most tender I have ever had, with just a hint of sweetness, very subtle, very nice. The fired okra was great too. The 2nd night they were out of greens and okra so I did the mac & cheese and the steamed broccoli (at the bartender's suggestion). I was expecting the broccoli to just be a pile of steamed stalks, but - no, they were seasoned to perfection and in a buttery sauce - phenomenal! The first night I had the NY Strip, it was cooked perfectly and was very tasty. The 2nd night I did the half roasted chicken. The flavor was great, but it was a little on the dry-side, luckily I had the buttery sauce from the broccoli to rejuvenate it. All in all, I would definitely return, I'd just make sure I didn't have anything pressing on my schedule. To be fair, it may make a difference if you let the staff know ahead of time if you're in a time-crunch.

Great Eats

By Mich328 |

Wonderful food, great waitstaff, ambiance great. This place is a history lesson. You can watch television, sit in comfortable booths or sit at tables. Free valet service is available. What a treat given the location. This is a hidden gem for tourists. The locals know how fabulous it is!! Got to eat the desserts. Hot peach cobbler with ice cream! Yummmo!

Awsome Atmosphere & Great Food !!

By Renee O |

My adult daughter and I were staying at the hotel on site, and decided to try out this curious little eatery. The outside may look like all other patio dining locations but the inside was beautiful. So much character in both the architecture and the story line of this location. Upon entering we were met by a very professional hostess and was seated promptly. Our waitress Karia, who attended to us, was amazing. She was very knowledgeable about the food and gave a great recommendation for the Southern Sea Pasta. This place is not the typical "hotel restaurant", it's a great place to eat even if your not staying overnight. I would definitely recommend this little gem to anyone who is looking for great food and great service.

Decent food, better decor

By SSBurto |

I enjoyed the atmosphere. We sat right under a photo of MLK at the Montgomery boycott back in the day. As far as the food, the fried chicken and cornbread dressing was good. The collards left much to be desired. I even got a small serving of peach cobbler for my birthday; it was tasty.

The Shrimp and Grits were everything!

By Alaya R |

Had a sampler of the food here while my friend and I were on a food tour. Simply amazing if you like soul food! We ended up going back for dinner. I would highly recommend!

Dynamite Shrimp is Dynamite!

By Blu Horizon Travel |

Wonderful atmosphere. Customer service was phenomenal. The fried green tomatoes are delicious and the dynamite shrimp is to die for!

Excellent for historical value.

By Patricia S |

Prompt and pleasant service. Beautiful, calming atmosphere. Fried chicken delicious, greens so sweet diabetics beware, chipped dinnerware. Unfortunately, revised menu combines lunch and dinner. Banquet facilities on previous visits warm and inviting.

Very Disappointed

By Reece1125 |

We went to Paschal's to celebrate my daughter's graduation from Clayton State due to womderful visits in the past. Well let me tell you, things have changed! After being seated we waited nobody came to out table. After about 20 minutes we were told "she is on the way". 10 more minutes passed and still no server. A young man finally appeared stating he knew we were probably upset due to the lack of sercive and although we were not in his section he would take care of us. He did the best he could but sercive was slow. We had a mixture of dishes--fried chicken, shrimp and grits, burgers and black bean burgers. All were disappointing! The menu touts "Paschal's black bean burger" when it's just a processed patty, the chicken was fried so hard it was tough to bite and the sides were heavily salted. The burgers and shrimp and grits were ok but nothing special. This is a stark contrast to the excellent service and dishes this restaurant used to provide. Needless to say, this was our last visit to Paschal's.

This is the place to go if you want Southern cooking

By Timothy F |

Casual atmosphere. Excellent and friendly service. Reasonable prices. Get the platter appetizers for a taste of southern specialties. Then go for the fried chicken with grits and fried okra. Finish it off with vanilla ice cream and peach cobbler for dessert. Delicious!

Soul Food

By Arsonsmom |

The whole experience was great. I enjoyed walking down memory lane with the photos on the wall. The server was as attentive as she could be the place was full. Now the food!! The food was so delicious! The Mac and cheese was cheesy and homemade. The cornbread rivaled my granny’s! And Lord bless the child with that fried chicken! Please go it was amazing!

HORRIBLE SERVICE

By Natalie W |

We called at 745 to make sure they can accommodate TWO people. We walked in and no one working was in sight. We sat ourselves at the bar because there was NO hostess to seat us. We waited nearly 15 minutes before we were greeted and asked what we would like to drink. My mother ordered a glass of Merlot and the bartender poured her a HALF glass of wine and said “I need to grab another bottle”. She never got her other half of her glass of wine and I sat there with a empty coke for another 20 minutes. THIS IS A SHAME CONSIDERING THE ATMOSPHERE IS AWESOME AND THE FOOD LOOKS GOOD. I suggest you staff your restaurant with employees who CARE about your business. I will never return.

An Amazing Experience!

By Ricky O |

My wife Pamela and I are from NJ, and we were in ATL visiting our dear friends Jesse and Belinda Alexander. We wanted to treat them to dinner at the best Soul Food Restaurant in ATL, and they selected Paschals. This was our 1st time eating at this restaurant, and I must say, we had an Amazing Experience! Kelly (our hostess) greeted us at the door with a welcoming smile. Kaelon (our waiter) treated us like Kings & Queens, and Kenny (the manager) took the time to greet our table and share the restaurant's rich history with us. Most importantly, the food was delicious, so we left with our bellies full and smiles on our faces! My wife and I are looking forward to our next trip to ATL so that we can return to Paschals! God Bless You, Ricky & Pamela Osborne

Nice surprise

By ylecoyoteesq |

The food and the decor was very good. It was a nice surprise for a restaurant that is located in a Castleberry.

Good, kind of.

By Orange Bug |

Service was EXCELLENT. Valet and waiter could not have done a better job. Salmon, is ljumbo, collards and Fried Green Tomatoes good. Catfish and crab appetizers ok. Fried chicken not good. Really, really salty.

Super Organized & Tasty Too!

By Raphael A |

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we ordered take out (it’s all they were doing anyway). Placed the order (fried catfish) which was delish & the website said 25-30 minutes... ...15 minutes later a text comes in & my food is ready. It was lightning fast & very good.

Disappointed

By Angelairene22 |

Really thought I was about to get it in.. chicken wings were okay, greens were tangy, Mac and cheese was Mac and sweet tea was tea. Grade C

Unbelievably Terrible Experience at Pascahal's Restaurant!

By Bkendall |

My wife and I saw the piece on Fox 5 news this morning about this soul food restaurant and decided to drive 35 miles to give it a try. You only get one opportunity to make a first impression...and this was beyond terrible. We tried to call in our order but no one answered the phone. Upon arrival, my wife ordered me the 2 piece chicken dinner (white meat) and she ordered the catfish dinner. She was told it we be ready in about 25 minutes. I checked 30 minutes later and was informed they were out of catfish (I'm not a mind reader so glad I checked)! Changed her order to chicken dinner (dark meat) and finally after a total of an hour and 10 minutes the order was ready but unfortunately, the both orders were wrong! At this point I requested a refund and the cashier refused to give me refunds on our 2 drinks unless I returned them (what a joke)! I will never go back and would never recommended this place to anyone I know!

Best fried catfish

By jrgnor |

The spicy catfish is the best..service is courteous and friendly...will definitely go back again soon..

Sister Birthday dinner

By M LM B |

I would love for this to have been a great experience being that it was my 1st visit. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Our server was overwhelmed with a party of 10. The food (I ordered the pasta, husband ordered baked chicken) was mediocre. The mac and cheese was overcooked. My husband had complaints with the bar. The manager after hearing our complaint, deducted $5. Bottom line---Not willing to give them a 2nd try!!!

Found great service and even better meal

By Bryan W |

After being in Atlanta for a few days, the one thing a lot of the locals expressed if you must eat out that Paschal's was one place that is a must. After taking this advice on board this was tried. Found the character of the restaurant was interesting and was able to relive the history of how it started to what it is now. It was everything that the locals had suggested with the history and this was matched with great service and food, the menu option are quite varied for ones taste.

Disappointed

By FrequentFlier779747 |

Had a graduation celebration there. We had to request the bathroom to be cleaned, our beautiful cake was butchered, the table set up was not what we asked for. Manager called and apologized for table set up only. He was fine with the butchered cake and bathroom. He tried to deflect with random information. I had not planned to review but his response was not satisfactory. I’m rating satisfactory because the one man who served us was so nice and the food was satisfactory.

The Best Time and food

By William S |

Dawn my server was awesome. Her service was amazing and she made us feel like we were only customer in the restaurant. The food was great too

Paschal’s

By Monica W |

Had to wait for @15 minutes. Server was awesome. Food was served by electronic server. Fried Chicken Sandwich, Catfish salad was very good. As was the peach cobbler &german chocolate cake. A large location with an upstairs private part room as well as another private room on lower floor. There is also an outside patio. Really enjoyed the vibe.

Weekend getaway

By chelledja |

Great experience. We were able to be seated right away. Really good service and the cajun seafood platter was the best I have had. Will definitely visit again on our next trip to Altanta.

Great wait staff.

By Chicago_IlWoo_woo60 |

My family dined there twice this week. The first day we walked in about 2:00 p.m. it wasn't crowded, but the hostess ask us if we had a reservation, being from out of town we didn't think we needed one. She then went on to tell us that we were lucky because she had a cancellation it was only 6 of us, because she was the first person we saw she kind of turned me off. However, we had a very nice waiter who was very knowledgeable when it came to the menu items, so he made our visit very pleasant. The food was good and will probably go back again when I visit Atlanta.

I was hoping for GOOD soul food.... Very disappointed though.

By MrsHubbyD |

There was a wait, which we understood, as there was a big graduation that weekend. No problem. The food was very disappointing though. I got the fried chicken (their specialty) with sides of mac & cheese, greens, yams, and cheese grits (I wanted to try them). The chicken was not so bad. It had good crunch, but the breast was a little dry. The greens were sweet, and I've never had them "sweet" before. Maybe some people like them that way, but they were not to my liking, at all. The grits were decent, but could have been a little softer. The mac & cheese was the worst though. There was almost NO cheese, and it was so DRY, that NONE OF IT even STUCK TOGETHER!! They were just all separate pieces of elbow macaroni, with not a BIT OF TASTE--absolutely AWFUL. They also seemed to only have 3 servers, (who were doing the best they could, considering they had a full house, with SEVERAL large parties. Kudos to them for handling that) but it seemed to take quite a while to get our food. I guess maybe because it was so busy, that's why it took a while for the food to come. Perhaps on another night, it might be better. I won't write them off just yet, but they need to staff better--especially for a Saturday! And PLEASE work on that dry, tough, mac & cheese!! On a more positive note...my husband has the seafood pasta dish, and really liked it!

Fried chicken still king

By Princeton101st |

I stopped in after picking up a friend at the airport. It was a 14 minute drive. We decided to sit at the bar for quick service. Our server/bartender was Whitney. She was fantastic. We ordered the fried chicken, candied yams, collard greens and green beans. The kitchen was slow so this isn't the place for work lunch if you don't have 90 minutes to spare. Perhaps you can order by phone for take away. If you do that you will miss the family friendly atmosphere and Whitney. The food exceeds expectations.

southern gem

this place is very good southern food, excellent fried chicken, very good sides , I really enjoyed the food. good service has well. attractive restaurant, with good parking.

Sunday Brunch!

By Jenni G |

I went to Sunday Brunch here with a friend. We ordered the buffet and I was not impressed! There was not that many choices for the price ($30 each). The desserts were store bought. The collard greens had large stems that were not very tasty. The chicken was okay...just okay. This was the first time here for Brunch. They had breakfast items available but I didn't get any breakfast. Needless to say, I probably won't go again.

"No Charge"

By Reginald C |

We had to wait for our daughter to get off work, so she took us to a restaurant near her work. As we got out of the car she handed us her credit card, and said 'eat slowly'. My wife and I walked into this restaurant, and right away one could tell that it was a historical building. On the walls were many pictures of famous people and their bios... Martin Luther King, his wife, and mother, Andrew Young, along with others, all around the walls, very captivating. The food was as interesting, and tasteful as the environment. We ate much, and we ate slowly; the check was paid for!

Good food!

By TravelingWithSeven |

Grew up in Atlanta and ate at the original Pascal’s. We did have a 30 minute wait but it was worth it. We shared an appetizer of fried green tomatoes. My mom had the salmon with collards & broccoli. I only tasted her collards and they were seasoned perfectly. I had fried chicken, grits & mac & cheese. All very good! The waitress wasn’t the friendliest but I can’t say the service was bad. Just not exceptional. We went on a Sunday evening around 7pm.

Excellent Fried Chicken

By Therese Prentice |

The history made us stop here but the whole experience brought us back twice in 2 days while visiting Atlanta Georgia. The fried chicken was juicy well seasoned and extra crispy. The portions of chicken were 3 pieces: a Breast, Wing and a Leg. Oh the Peach Cobbler was just like my grandmother made it.

Soul food flavor

By RMM |

If you’re looking for delicious soul food, you’ll find it at Paschal’s. There were 7 in our party and everyone’s meal was cooked to perfection. The fried chicken was very big. The catfish, Mac and cheese and potato were flavorful. Definitely would return for more.

great restaurant

By Rick B |

We were going to another restaurant with family... I think it was called busy bee's or something to that effect, but they were not taking indoor dining, so the curbside attendant recommended Paschal's. It was a great recommendation. They food was very good and the portion's reasonable for the price. We got the fried chicken which is some of the best I have tasted. Paschal's also has a selection of soul food.

Decent Enough Soul Food

By Nikzleez |

We had the buffet as pre-ordered for our group event. The food wasn't as hot as it should have been, but everything was tasty. The mac n cheese was good, but would have been better hot. Great green beans. Fried Chicken was just okay (nothing spectacular, but it was room temperature). Salmon was fine. Sweet tea was excellent. I would be curious to order off of the regular menu.

Bradley Family Reunion

By P_GA |

During our Black History Tour, our family stopped here for a catered family lunch buffet. The room was beautifully decorated and the food was delicious. My family couldn't stop raving about the fried chicken and the peach cobbler. Special shout out to Charmine. She answered a million questions without hesitation and made sure all the details down to our raffle table was available, as requested. Thank you Paschal's for a memorable lunch during our family reunion.

Dinner between flights

Got me the BBQ pork for dinner, with yams and green beans!! Absolutely loved it! I will eat hear every time I hit the ATL!!

Not up to par

By Michael_Kevin28 |

I have eaten at Paschal's several times: for business meetings, board meetings, and with family. The sentiment is always the same upon my departure, the food is just not up to par. The atmosphere is nice and the decor fairly modern. The type of service you receive really depends on the person; I have received both bad and good service during my experiences. However, let's discuss my main concern with Paschal's, the food. They typically serve you some sort of bread prior to your meal (biscuits and cornbread). Neither of the two starches tastes fresh. The bread is quite dry and overbaked. I initially thought the bread was frozen, and still do. During my last dining experience there, I ordered the fried chicken. After my family ordered our meal, the dishes came out nearly 20 minutes later. The portion of my fried chicken was huge, and I wondered how they were able to cook it in such little time. The chicken, unfortunately, was dry and flavorless. It was cold on the outside and hot on the inside, which leaves me to believe it was heated in the microwave. My family was not particularly interested in their dishes either, as we sort of exchanged views at each other to gather a sentiment. Soul food is to be prepared with love, compassion, and soul. Unfortunately, I just did not feel it here.

Go-To French bistro in PTC

By SilverbackMunkie |

Pascal's is a classic French style bistro - great, tasty entrees, great wine list and super coffee and desserts!! Their Beef Bourgogne is excellent, as is our service, and Chef Louie cruises the restaurant and clears tables. Overall, the Go-To French restauarnt in PTC!!!

Solid Soul Food with deep history

By betsnow |

On a recent trip to ATL, with my Canadian colleague, I insisted she try some good southern cooking and soul food. After perusing a variety of restaurants we landed here on a Tuesday late afternoon. It was not that busy, lots of staff standing around. Not sure if this is a newer restaurant in terms of location (I know the backstory and it has been around for decades) and that is why things felt disjointed. Our server took about 10 minutes to even come to our table. We ordered some basic (non bar) drinks. Water and a ginger ale. I was disappointed that the entire time we were there the staff never came to refill the waters as I chug through at least 2-3 glasses when dining. The food was GOOD. I ordered the fried chicken platter, my sides being brussels and mashed potatoes. I will say that the brussels were DELISH, and the Fried Chicken was excellent. Moist and juicy with just the right amount of 'fry' to it. Seemed to be the same coating/batter they use for the fried green tomatoes. Saved some room for the famous peach cobbler which was good, but did not knock my socks off or anything. I loved watching the robots deliver the food to the tables. Very cool, and nice that servers are not having to run back and forth however it seemed like they did not utilize that time to ensure their tables had refilled water or my colleague wanted another ginger ale but never got the opportunity to order one. Food was good - service was good balanced between things that went well and opportunities.

Good Food

By Sherpa23616967865 |

As usual the food was DELICIOUS! Jamie(server)was attentive, polite and kind. I enjoy the clean , calm atmosphere . The walls are filled with photos that provide you with a quick history lesson. The restaurant is a must when you visit Atlanta.

Great food, wonderful history

By Cheré Dastugue Coen |

Fried chicken, greens, mac and cheese and biscuits — couldn't have been happier and all done to perfection. The history, however, really adds to the experience. Paschal's was the place where Civil Rights leaders met and enjoyed food. It once included a hotel so many of the leaders — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. included — stayed there. Even after the Movement, Paschal's was the place to be and you will see that in the photos lining the wall, everything from Mayor Maynard Jackson (he also has a banquet room dedicated to him) to Pres. Obama.

Lunch with Family

PO Boy at Paschal’s is like New Orleans taste in Atlanta, well cooked ribs and good, friendly service: thumbs up 👍🏾 for this restaurant!

Fan of food

Food is good and enough of it. Staff is nice. Handicapped accessible. The first time I came during the week. On Sunday it is buffet style. Either way make a reservation it will go smoother.

LUNCH AFTER CHURCH

By Prettysmooth1 |

This was my second visit to Paschals. My last visit was over 18 months ago, and I could barely remember my visit. My family and I stopped at this restaurant because the restaurant we planned to visit had very long wait. To our surprise, the food was delicious. The service was decent and the decor was historic. I will visit again.

Great Food!

Loved the gumbo, This restaurant is awesome with great servers. I would highly recommend this restaurant

First time impression

By Jemeka |

Went here on a Sunday; wait time wasn't too bad, though could have been better. There were empty tables and I was wondering why couldn't we sit in them. They were empty even after we left. I had the seafood pasta and a lemonade. The pasta was good BUT portion size too small. I barely had any pasta. I had to full up on rolls really. The lemonade was good. I didn't like the cornbread. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the place is real clean and tidy. I like the historical touches and the open seating. I'd visit here again.

Not what it used to be !!

By Traveling Coach |

I recently met a colleague at Paschal's for lunch as it was halfway between his home and mine. We were both disappointed. For starters, this new version of Paschal's is not even close to the original restaurant where so many iconic civil rights leaders dined and met and plotted a course for civil rights. The new restaurant opened in 2002 so it is not really NEW, however, it bears no resemblance to the original restaurant which included a hotel and jazz lounge. Now on to the review...................for starters, even though the Covid mask mandate has been lifted statewide, the hostess insisted that my colleague and I return to our cars and retrieve our masks. Never mind that all the seated patrons had their masks off as they dined. It was off putting and inconvenient as we both had to park quite a distance away (parking is a problem here). Nonetheless, we donned our masks and returned to be seated. In spite of the sparse lunch crowd service was amazingly slow. Yes, there is still a shortage of restaurant personnel but the inattentive service was annoying. Finally a server came over after we sat there for a while. She told us there were no menus and we have to use the QR code. Since I had not brought my reading glasses with me, this was yet another annoyance .However, we both knew what we wanted................Paschal's famous fried chicken, the signature dish of the Paschal brothers for over 70 years. The only real decision was which veggies to chose for sides. Decision made and order placed. Yet we had to wait an inordinate amount of time to receive our meal. The server was also completely unaware of our empty water and tea glasses and we had to ask for refills. The only saving grace was the large chicken breast and wing. Absolutely, as always, delicious. The sides were good but the portions were not as large as I remembered. I ordered fried green tomatoes to take home to my wife and they were brought out before we departed. We had to wait to pay our server who was frankly not very professional or attentive. Of course we never put our masks back on and walked out smiling at the hostess who was still wearing her double mask behind the desk. The final unpleasant surprise was when I got home my wife opened the fried green tomato box and found 3 slices of soggy and not very tasty tomatoes with a predictable and bland dipping sauce. The worst news???? I was charged $10 for three tomato slices. Totally ridiculous. Both my colleague and I agreed, next time we meet it will not be at Paschal's. That is a shame but perhaps it is better to remember the original restaurant and all the good meals I had there and leave the new restaurant behind. Sad and sorry to report. This was not one my best meals in Atlanta and a major disappointment.......................except for the fried chicken. That is the only reason for a 3 star rating, which should have been much lower.

What a wonderful experience listening to an ancestor

By Yuxi |

Enjoyed eating Southern Fried Chicken and collard greens. The highlight of our meal was when an older gentleman sat down and started speaking with us. I think he is the owner or one of the owners. Anyway, he told us about how the original restaurant was an important location during the Civil Rights Movement. Unfortunately, our Uber ride arrived and we had to leave. I could have sat with him for hours listening to his memories of that period of his life. I feel blessed that I was able to hear him for the short time that I did.

Great fried chicken on 7/19/17

By Teach40 |

During my first time visit with my daughter, we were very pleased with the food and service. We arrived ahead of the reservation time of 5:30 on Wednesday, and were seated right away. The staff displayed true southern hospitality. Steve, our waiter, was pleasant and efficient. He recommended the fried chicken or catfish. We shared a fried green tomato appetizer and had delicious margaritas- one strawberry and one peach. Sides of macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and candied yams were delicious. We got the recommendation for the best fried chicken from our Lyft driver. We will return on our next trip to Atlanta.

Very good soul food in a beautiful almost reverential setting

By PeachtreeCorners2013 |

Paschal's, only 3 minutes drive from Mercedes Benz stadium, is easy to find. Parking was easy (we used valet) but there is apparently self park around the corner. This is a beautiful, airy, very open, brick-walled restaurant with black and white photos of prominent figures of Atlanta...you can almost feel the history of this city in this restaurant. The food was excellent. Many of us would recommend the fried chicken which was just as good as the last time I visited. Our server was very friendly but hard to find even to ask for the check (but service was good on other visits). Overall, I like this restaurant and it's no mystery why some food tours start here.

Good Service

The good was great and i informed my family and friends to visit whenever in Atlanta. This is a must visit restaurant. Plenty of food left for leftovers. Thank you so much

Great Southern Food

By frugalarnie |

Pascals is a large modern restaurant lnown for its southern cuisine with an epic history. Rebuilt after burning down, and now modern, it doesn't miss on its food. The southern fried chicken was crispy and flavorful. Sweet potato and corn bread dressing excellent. Has anything you eant from fish to chicken to meats. Worth visiting.

The WORST experience ever!!

By Truyblessed A |

This place has really gone down! I wish there was a negative button so I could give the proper review! Horrible interaction from the hostess to the waitress to the manager on duty (on 07/17/2019). Food that we wanted was not available. And, now they charge for the extra bread! That would be okay if the pieces weren't cut so small. Time to go back to Mary Mac's!!

Great food and service!

By Doss S |

My sister treated be for a birthday dinner during our visit to Atlanta. Catfish dinner was delicious! Service and atmosphere was outstanding too! I’d recommended eating here, especially if you’re staying at The Clarion. It’s a short walk from the main entrance and virtually in the same parking lot.

Girlfriend night

By Deberah W |

Food and drinks were delicious , it is very convenient and parking was easy. My girlfriend was here with her family on a basketball tournament. It was at the perfect location from their hotel.

Food was amazing

By ByCyren |

We got into town Saturday and stoped at another restaurant and it was closed. We had the test for soul food and decided to try this place and we are so glad we did. As soon as we pulled up the valet was nice and as soon as we walked in the staff was nice and professional. I recommend ordering the shrimp and grits it’s so good honestly the best I ever had.

I'm fulllll.

By Betty W |

The salmon and shrimpwere cooked to perfection. I ate everything excellent! The Brussel Sprouts were delicious. Service was great. I will come and enjoy the atmosphere again.

Horrible customer service and the food is NOT the best!

By yessie3000 |

While in the Atlanta area for my nieces graduation I heard about this restaurant and decided to give it a try. Initially I made reservations online but later realized that I needed to modify the time. I called several times and was directed to voicemail each time. This alone should've discouraged me from ever visiting this restaurant. But instead I thought that I'd stop in for takeout before heading back home. When I stopped in for take out I avoided valet and park in a spot out front designated for take out ordering. Once I entered the restaurant I approached the front counter and was made to wait for a few minutes while a male and female carried on a conversation as if a customer wasn't in front them. SMH. Once I was able to ask about placing an order I was directed to the bar where I placed my order. I decided to try their fried chicken because in the reviews that I had read no one had anything negative to say. I specifically asked not be given any chickens legs in my order and was told that I would be charged an additional fee for the modification. I agreed to the fee and continued with my order. I wish I had checked my order when it arrived because l definitely did NOT get what I paid extra for. I paid extra to not get a chicken leg in my order but I did. Also the sides that I ordered with my meal where not the best tasting. I ordered macaroni with cheese and collard greens as my sides but greens where bland. The mac & cheese barely had any cheese. It was the worst mac & cheese that I had ever paid for. Thankfully the chicken was as good as the reviews said it would be. The service I received from this restaurant was poor and the sides I ordered were also. I emailed the restaurant about not receiving the modification that I paid for to my order but the only response I got was that I had reached the wrong department. I would not make the mistake of visiting this restaurant again.

So good

By Kevin Price |

Heard about the history and the good reviews. It did not disappoint. Went for supper. Got the fried chicken, mac and cheese and blackeyed peas along with the peach cobbler. All of it was just like mom and granny made.

Overall nice dining experience

By Nikki D |

Overall very nice experience. Food was brought out within minutes of ordering and the waitress was fantastic! She made the dining experience pleasant and made sure we received the order as requested.

Unfortunately, a very disappointing meal with slow service and below average food.

By David S |

Unfortunately, Paschal's proved to be a very disappointing experience. Service is extremely slow, as others have commented. But even worse, the food is not great. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich only to discover it is not a sandwich at all. Although they do provide two slices of bread, the chicken is an entire thigh, bones and all. It cannot be eaten as a sandwich. And the chicken itself was overcooked and dry. Also, I asked for mayo for but the mayo was either Miracle Whip, some other poor substitute for mayo or perhaps it was real mayo that had gone bad. It was inedible. I would not choose to eat here again. There are so many better alternatives in Atlanta.

Good food, bad service

By Ontariogirl12 |

Had to try this place upon recommendation from locals. The fried chicken was excellent, liked all the sides. The service however left much to desire and it took forever for us to get our food even though it was completely dead on a Tuesday night. Also they had “just” ran out of gravy which seems strange as it was 6pm dinner time. If you’re patient give it a try, otherwise pass.

Terrible service and mediocre food

By Greg F |

This has the reputation for great southern food. We had a group,ofm15, and were assigned a single waitstaff. It took 40 minutes to get our drinks, and by the time the last three in our group were served, they had to ask for to go plates. The food was mediocre at best. Everything that was fried tasted like it had been fried in stale oil. Nothing, including the okra, was hand battered. It was frozen, delivered in a semi food. Will not waste my time here again.

Great Fried Chicken!

By ranunculas |

Went to dinner with a group of friends as I visited Atlanta and was told this was a must visit. The restaurant itself is nice, with a lot of history, but let me tell you, the fried chicken was to die for! I had all dark meat, 2 wings, 2 drumsticks, and it was hot, crispy, juicy, tender and flavorful. Just the right balance of seasoning, in just the right amount of breading to meat ratio! It comes with two sides, so I had the mac and cheese and collard greens. The greens were good, but could have been warmer, the mac and cheese was very good! A nice blend of cheese without being over powering. Just like Mama used to make :-). We shared some catfish bites as an appetizer, which was also perfectly fried. My Lemondrop martini was ok, but overall, yes, I will definitely go back on my next trip into Atlanta!

It was an excellent experience, excellent service, and excellent food. We will be back.

By Barbara B |

I enjoyed sitting in Dawn’s section. She was very attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. I will definitely request Dawn service again.

Tasty food and friendly service.

Our waitress was great. She said they are famous for their chicken and catfish - and that is exactly what we ordered. Both were very good.

Great fried chicken!

By Nina044 |

Traffic here on a Saturday was bad and we parked in the hotel park without realising the restaurant offered free valet parking. This place is a wee surprise as there's a huge dining area. We were seated away from all the other locals in a large, comfortable booth. Our fried chicken was delish but our sweet kumera fries were cold. I asked our waitress to let the kitchen know but we were ok with it really. I then was torn between the peach cobbler and key lime pie and asked could I have a half portion of each. They were unable to do this so we just got a small portion of the peach cobbler and this was provided gratis which was not expected and was a lovely finish to our meal (due to the cold fries). This is great home-cooked Southern soul food. The building is lovely with amazing art and it had a nice vibe. Would recommend and we made a reservation in advance.

Downgraded

By TravelBoss76 |

So, we went to Paschal's for a birthday dinner (3 people) and we liked what we saw on the menu. We thought we would try it as we knew it had been a landmark in Atlanta. I used Opentable to make reservations since we were going on Friday night and it's graduation season. Our reservation was for 8:30pm. We got there a few minutes early and alerted the hostess who asked that we take a seat for a few minutes. We noticed that the place was basically empty save for a few people at the bar and a large group sitting at 6 tables pushed together. Our reservation time came and went.........we were still waiting at 8:50pm when I went back to the hostess to ask what was taking so long as the place wasn't busy and a family of five (who had also been waiting were just seated). She immediately sat us only to have us wait again for a server. We believe the manager came over to our table (I admit that I have resting b*^%h face) because he noticed that we were looking all around for our server. He offered to get us started with drinks. They arrived a few minutes later but we had yet to see our server. She finally came out about five minutes later. We were discussing leaving but knew that they other places we wanted to try would have actual lines and be very busy. She apologized to us for the wait and quickly took our orders. She checked on us as she dropped off a beverage from the bar and told us that she was trying to handle a situation she had (later found out that someone walked out on their check). It really looked as if there were only three servers for the restaurant which may have attributed to the overall slow service. There were maybe 30 other people in the place as we ate dinner. We ordered the crab balls, sweet potato fries and had entrees of fried chicken, steak and catfish. We liked the cornbread dressing and the mac n' cheese. Everything else we felt could have been better. I cook a lot so for me, it wasn't worth the price we paid because I can do better. It definitely appears that they are going through changes but the staff do not appear to communicate well with one another. It's a beautiful place with valet parking or the lot across the street (no one around to truly direct you too it so you just have to know). I really wanted to give this place a chance since I know the history and that it use to produce good food and atmosphere......but I can't. We won't be back unless a person I trust tells me things have improved dramatically.

Food and service an embarrassment to Paschal's name, Southern hospitality

By scribe602015 |

My party of three ate lunch at Paschal's on July 13, 2022. We ordered a baked chicken dinner, fried chicken dinner and blackened catfish dinner, along with two iced teas and a Coke. The blackened catfish was Blackened! The macaroni and cheese and collard greens were horrible. The greens had no flavor and the macaroni and cheese was dry. The baked chicken and fried chicken were also very dry. Our waitress apologized and brought out gravy to "help" the chicken and hot sauce to "help" the greens, instead of offering other options or getting a manager. They had the nerve to automatically add an 18% percent tip, bringing the total to $87.56! Another thing: Don't be fooled by beautiful pictures. We had to move from a worn booth where the seat cushions were sagging and peeling and reseated at a table. The cushions need to be replaced or the whole booth!

Great Southern Food!

By Voyage364056 |

When you are in Atlanta, do yourself a favor and stop by Paschal's to experience some real southern cooking. You will not go wrong with the fried green tomatoes, their famous baked mac and cheese and the cajun fried catfish fingers. Can you say yum yum!!!

Satisfied customers

By Annemarie C |

We went on a Sunday night with no reservation. We were told there would be a wait which was fine except there really isn't a waiting area. There were a few chairs and a bench but not enough for the people waiting. Eventually some seats opened us as others waiting were shown their table. Our server was helpful and pleasant. We had two children in our group and they enjoyed the kids coloring page and the items on the kids menu. The fried chicken really is good but we were all pleased with our choices.

Rude Manager

By Raashad F |

PLEASE make sure you have a mask on before even walking through the door. the fact the MANAGER (KENNY) was so rude and not polite at all when instructing me to put a mask on is crazy to me. Nevertheless.. i put my mask on then walked to pick up my food and he was rude about that as well... they close at 8 pm this was at 7:30 pm so he was clearly ready to go. Love the food but customer service needs to be reevaluated.

Southern food and top-notch cocktails

By carissa-bert |

Best fried green tomatoes in town. You won't be disappointed simply sitting at their bar taking advantage of the open layout to people watch and enjoy excellently crafted cocktails. We enjoyed several appetizers to take a light "tapas style" dinner.

Very good meal

By Jurnee |

Had a very good lunch at this legendary dining spot. The fried chicken was excellent, juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I had the candied yams and corn as sides - both of which are hard to mess up. The yams were fine, nothing special - basically yams with some sweet sauce on them and the corn was corn. The best part was the peach cobbler which was fabulous. The right amount of dough to fruit and so moist. The only criticism I'd have is that the lemonade is very sweet. I'd actually like to taste the lemon a little. Service was friendly and prompt.

Poor service, good food

By Mischievoustrip |

I would have to think probably three times if I wanted to go back. We had to wait probably one hour to be served and 20min to get the check The food was good but we were so upset and disappointed for the waiting time that it ruined the dinner, No, I don’t think I would go back

Change in the Entrée Sides ( small portions)

By Kim P |

We travel to Georgia often from West Palm Beach FL and Paschal’ s is a place we stop in often for dinner during our stay in Atlanta. The food did taste good as usual, however we were very disappointed by the noticeable small portions for our entrees sides considering the cost is still the same; a warning or notice of these changes would have been nice for your loyal customers.

Ok

By Daphne P |

A friend of a friend picked this venue for her birthday lunch. It's kind of difficult to find if you're not from Atlanta but it's not far from Mercedes Benz Stadium, the Georgia Aquarium, and the AU Center. The historical aspects were cool, and the building was fairly nice (a little loud even though the building wasn't super packed). We all had the fried chicken (which the restaurant is known for), and it was okay but I was expecting better. The sides were unexciting (black eyed peas were too sweet and underdone and the cornbread reminded me of Jiffy; macaroni and cheese was okay). The staff was very nice and patient so that was definitely helpful. I would advise going there more for the history and people watching than the food itself..

Ms.

By Ddmitchell13 |

Paschals is AMAZING! Homemade mac&cheese, unbelievable blackened catfish, authentic New Orleans etouffee, and Sweet Potato Pie that make you scream Mama!!! The ambiance is lovely with exposed brick and life size bay windows. Kari, our server was the bomb who delivered class A service to a party of 9 with grace, patience and style. We were thoroughly impressed and have added Paschals as a requirement to frequent everytime we are in the ATL!

Food was good, but it was a wait...

By Richard R |

When we entered the restaurant, there was a sign which said "We are short staffed, please be kind to the staff", so we knew it was going to be a wait, but didn't expect 45-60 minutes. Fried chicken was good, the green beans were mushy, the famous peach cobbler was just okay. Overall we would go back, just when they are more fully staffed !! By Alicia D |

This place has good food, but horrible service from the servers to the managers. There was an incident of false advertisement when we received our check. When we spoke with the server, who was slow and very forgetful by the way, he rudely dismissed us. We then requested a manager. It took 10 minutes for him to even walk to the back. We then stopped another server who went and got a manager. The manager came and walked up to the table with an attitude basically saying they do what they want there. After stating that phone calls and complaints will be made, he chose to correct our checks. I will never suggest this place to anyone! There needs to be a more precise hiring process and training because this is unacceptable. I can speak for days about things they can do to improve to make the employees customer service match the exterior and interior of the restaurant.

Great Greens!

By Rosemary D |

We had a family dinner, Tori is an excellent server. Our food was amazing. I had the baked chicken with greens and black-eyed peas. My husband had the meat loaf, one son had catfish, one shrimp and grits, and the other fried chicken. Everyone loved their meal. The greens were outstanding, so tender.

Sunday Brunch at Paschal’s

By Barbara C |

The service was excellent and the food was amazing! If you have never dined here before, you’re truly missing a soul food experience.

Better than average Food -Poor Service

By Jamesr2000 |

My family of 4 ate at this “must eat” restaurant. The service was very poor. The staff is not rude, but nobody in the place really is taking care of the guests. We had the fried chicken and it was really good—not Willie Mae’s, New Orleans good—but good none the less.

Brunch with the Girls

By Tamara B |

I visited with my group of girlfriends during Spring Break on a Sunday. They have a great Brunch!! We got mimosas and the brunch buffet. They had a cooked to order omelette and waffle station. The attendants were friendly and entertaining!! The buffet had fresh fruit, potatoes, fried chicken, yams, greens and more. A really good selection for vegetarians in my option (as I am one). The waiter (Zak I believe) was very friendly as well. It was a great experience for our group!!

Group pleasures

By Richard T |

We were there this weekend with a group of 25 and were supremely taken care of. Had the Shrimp and Grits which was fantastic. Friends had Fried Chicken that thought was perfect. Staff was pleasant and attentive.

With the 4th Quarter WIN

By Pollyseed00 |

I arrived at the restaurant on Sunday evening a little before 8pm and it was busy. They quoted a wait time of 30 minutes. The hostess then offered me the opportunity to sit in the bar area for faster service. The bartender was attentive and fast with getting my order placed prior to this big party putting in a order. I had the Fried Chicken, Mac n’ Cheese, and Collard Greens all of much was delicious. I loved the greens and actually had two orders of them. The restaurant service was great even though they seemed busy for a Sunday. Paschal’s had a great atmosphere, clean restrooms, and staff that worked hard to keep customers happy. Yes, I will definitely be back to have more collard greens and Mac n’ Cheese.

Relaxing Atmosphere

By marlon629 |

The atmosphere was so peaceful, the staff was pleasant. We went for a birthday dinner, it was 16 of us, the food came pretty quick. A little pricey for the selection, but it was tasty. They offer complimentary Valet parking which was good because you would have to park on the street.

Delicious fried chicken and friendly service!

By Stephanie D |

My friends and I ate here recently and it was excellent. The service was fast and friendly and the restaurant is very pleasing to the eye. The walls are adorned with photos, etc. from the Civil Rights Movement. The food was simply delicious and you just have to order the fried chicken -- it is just cooked to perfection. The candied yams were superb and I will definitely be back here again!

This place never disappoints

Whenever I am in the A I always have to grab Paschal's. The food is always amazing and the service was great. Can't wait to be back!

Worth going

Best fried chicken breast I have ever had! Flavorful and tender. We enjoyed our collard greens and Mac and cheese too! Waitress was attentive. Place was clean. Loved seeing the MLK pictures and history.

TERRIBLE FOR GROUPS--STAY AWAY!!!!

By r0bynp88 |

I wish I could give this restaurant zero stars. Here is what I sent to Paschal's today after dining there with my family: I had a horrifying dining experience during lunch at your restaurant today. I had never been to your restaurant, but knew of your history, and was excited to try it. A group of us from our church came together after seeing a play at Spelman. There were perhaps 30 in our group, and I was with my husband and our three children--a 7 year old girl and 3 year old twins. We arrived at your restaurant at 12:30 and my understanding was that we had reservations, being such a large party. Nonetheless, it took about 30 minutes to seat us. Finally, we were shown to a dingy back room, with insufficient chairs for the number of people in our party. Once we obtained extra chairs and were seated, it took a considerable amount of time before servers arrived to take our order and then, once we had placed our orders, about 20 minutes more to receive our drinks (water for my husband and I, a lemonade and two milks). When drinks arrived, my daughter's lemonade was served to her in an adult glass that she could not handle and I had to go to the service station and ask for a paper cup with a lid. My three year old twins, who by this time were quite hungry and fidgety, were served last of all. No one in our family ever did receive utensils and I had to go scavenge for them in the restaurant myself. Once we received drinks, it took a VERY long time for our food to be served. By this time (at 2:00p.m, now), my young son had begun crying and dry heaving because he was so hungry. My food had not yet appeared, but my son was in such distress that I had to leave the restaurant before being served. On my way out, I gave a server my credit card, explained to her what was happening, and asked her to quickly run my card and get it back to my husband and to bring some boxes for our not-yet-arrived food because my little boy needed to leave ASAP. I then exited the restaurant and got my little one to the car, where he promptly collapsed into his car seat, in tears. I drove around the block waiting for my husband to arrive. At 2:20, I called your phone to see what was going on and the hostess reported to me that she was just observing a server giving my husband back my card. I do not understand why it took 20 minutes to run the card! My husband emerged with our little girls in tow and some food boxes, reporting that we had just been charged full price for this horrendous experience. Before I got off the phone with your hostess, I had given her my phone number and asked that she please have the manager call me back. He or she still has not called. Upon returning home, I actually sat down to eat the food that had been boxed for me. It was disgusting. The gumbo was so oversalted that it was inedible. My daughters reported that their green beans and mac 'n cheese tasted "funny," and my husband reported that his veggie burger was a frozen patty from the grocery store that had been reheated. I say all of this noting that I worked in food service for years, in the kitchen, washing dishes, and as a server, and cashier. I have worked virtually all positions in a restaurant and tend to be extremely understanding because I know how hard it can be when it's busy, or when serving large groups. But, this was beyond the pale. I have never been so upset by a restaurant's treatment of my family--especially my children.

Relaxing late lunch with visitors

By Dines_out_regularly |

We took a couple of friends visiting from the west coast after the lunch hour, as we wanted to be able to chat without being rushed. As one of my friends had grandparents from the south, she wanted to have some of the dishes her grandmother made for Sunday dinner, and Paschal's brought us back to talking about times of our youth. If you want to experience southern cooking in a very nice relaxed atmosphere to rekindle your memories, Paschal's is the place. We ordered a couple of appetizers and extra sides so that the various tastes of the south were brought to our table. The steak salads were super and the fried chicken sandwich was delightfully seasoned. Our only complaint was no decaf coffee or herb tea.

Nothing special

By NICOLAS_OSORIO |

I went for a late lunch to Paschal's. I ordered a burger. Standard service, standard burger, standard fries. The barbeque sauce arrived when I was finishing my burger.

Food was good. Service subpar

By AppleyPeach |

I'm disturbed to later learn that cornbread and rolls are served with dinner. I realized after the fact that the table right next to me got them and I did not. The server had as much personality as a paper bag. I'm grateful to the hostess who cleared my table and offered to refill my drink, which is the only reason why this is not rated lower. Food was good though.

Poor Service.

By TheTruthAtOnce |

We waited 30 minutes before receiving our cocktails. Our Entrees came out before appetizers and before bread service was rendered. If you know how to cook the food will be average to you...if not you may think it’s great. The side items were rather small for $4 per side. Overall, I would have given a higher score for the food alone but the service was HORRIBLE. No sense of urgency. A bunch of young kids working and playing with no supervision.

Great southern food!

By Chrisrowe1 |

Fried chicken the best! Great place while in Atlanta! Lots of history screaming from the walls. Very interesting success story!

Best food in Atlanta airport

By Tique S |

I literally hate going through Atlanta airport. However, being able to stop at Pascal's makes this horrid experience so much better. Food makes me feel soo much better. Tasty, cooked to perfection, seasoned, and affordable. I look for Pascals everytime I have to wait in that airport. I'm so glad that they're not in San Antonio bc I would be over weight.

The food, the legacy and the love: Dantzler Family Reunion at Paschal's!!

By Debra D |

We had the Dantzler Family Reunion this past weekend; hands down, the highlight was our experience at Paschal's!! The food was delicious. Especially the 1947 Fried Chicken and the sweet corn was to die for. The customer service was spectacular. The Events and Catering Sales Manager, Chiquita Gaye went above and beyond for my family, making them feel special. Our server was attentive and so kind. The best part of the experience was the history lesson from Mr. Slack.

Good food with a meaningful history

By Wyldecamp |

While visiting the Atlanta area with a church youth group while on a civil rights road trip we decided to have dinner at Paschal’s because of the history and role it played in the civil rights movement. I was a bit disappointed to find that the current building is not the historic site and the restaurant has not been at this location for very long. The food was fantastic but It seemed a bit of a let down and felt like a more watered down, modernized version of what the food was like when Paschal’s was in it’s heyday when MLK used the establishment as a hub for his meetings. When I think of soul food, the atmosphere, the presentation and the meals this would not be it. We loved the food and the service was top notch and friendly. It just seems like they are pulling people in on the original name with losing the real experience.

Exceptional service and super delicious food

By Reggie CSM |

Wowww- our first visit with my Veteran Brother Eric Williams and what a great experience. It started with the courtesy of Waitress Tina and continued with our servers and cooks. I highly recommend this location and the Paschal Restaurant Business. As a 32 year Army Veteran this made my day. Thanks for making my family happy and satisfied as we traveled from Elpaso Texas.

Good but slow.

By Randell C |

We had the culinary pleasure of visiting Paschal’s recently as we were getting our daughter settled for college. We had been before and so we knew we were in for some good soul food. On that account, we were not disappointed. The fried chicken, macaroni & cheese, sweet potatoes, fried okra and collard greens washed down with sweet tea were calorie intensive, blood pressure raising, and nostalgically transporting back to great grandma’s house at dinner time. At the end of the meal, we all left satisfied with our dose of comfort food. But...it just took so long. Paschal’s is chronically slow in seating and serving. That is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5. Maybe someone should go down to Georgia Tech and get some of the engineering students to help with their workflow. Now, with that written, I must admit. It is still worth waiting for and I will be back. Guess that is why Paschal’s continues to be slow...because the food is still so good.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED - DISAPPOINTED 😥

By Gfrostross |

I have been in Atlanta since 1989, and always wanted to try Paschal's, but just never got around to it. My girlfriend went to Spelman and her Dad went to Morehouse, so they spoke highly of it. I finally decided to try it, and I was soooooo DISAPPOINTED. I ordered to-go, so I could get back home to watch football. Ordered at 5:06PM and it took almost an hour to get my food (to-go). Everyone always talked about how great the fried chicken was, so I decided to try it. I also ordered Mac and cheese and collard greens. The chicken was pretty good, but they messed up my entire order. I ordered a breast and two wings. They bought me out a breast, a wing and a leg. They also gave me sweet potatoes instead of Mac and cheese. I then had to get back in line to get the second breast that I ordered. The collard greens were not very good. No meat flavor, and they tasted like they had a lot of sugar in them. The atmosphere is great, and had I dined in, it might have been a more pleasurable experience. But for my first time going, nothing went right, and it will be hard for anyone to get me to go back again. The food value definitely did not match the price I paid. Very disappointed.

Yummy

By Cozy2323 |

Paschal's is an Atlanta landmark and is full of history. This is a restaurant that you must visit if you are traveling to the ATL...you will not be disappointed. Oh and the food; it is delicious...nicely seasoned, cooked just right and a plate of yummy goodness. Just go...you can thank me later.

Fried Chicken almost Like Mama Made

By RetiredCokeTraveler |

We went for our daughter's birthday and each of us had the fried chicken, yams and macaroni and cheese. Service was great and food was delicious. I felt the prices were very fair.

Worth a Visit

By Jason G |

Everything we ate was very tasty and it was cool to learn about the history. Staff were also very accommodating as we were dealing with our screaming child. They also have these cool little robot like machines that bring out some of your food, so that’s entertaining to watch those things moving about. Came here mid week and had gotten a reservation to be on the safe side, but we definitely didn’t need one as it turned out. For parking, there isn’t much free street parking (we lucked out and got a spot) but the valet rate at $5 at least isn’t terrible. Definitely a place worth checking out at least once.

REALLY worth the visit!!

By JMAC2239 |

PASCHAL'S has been with us for a very very long time. Once upon a time it was a true landmark with Dr. King ... now it is a comfortable location with consistently good food. The service is ALWAYS with a smile and the focus is on serving good food with a smile. The "fried green tomatoes" are worth the visit ... the chicken is always better that expected and the pricing with be worth the meal.

Some of the best fried chicken

By l0v3_2_travel |

The historical significance of the restaurant is reason enough to visit and give it a try. The fried chicken is some of the best I have had whether it is dark or white meat both were flavorful and juicy. If you want some good soul food this is the place. We were in Atlanta for 4 days and we had pascals twice. The issue we had were the sides were not seasoned as well as we would have liked. Between the two of us we tried the following sides: black-eyed peas, greens, yams, green beans, fried okra, mac and cheese, and the creamy cheddar grits. They weren't bad but the sides just did not live up to the hype we anticipated. The meats were amazing though. We would still visit again but we now know what to expect. Service was exceptional.

Consistently terrible

By kanikab |

Consistently...consistently the worst restaurant and service in Atlanta. I am an AUC alum now AUC professor and to see the legacy of this historical place run into the ground like this is a shame. I have had NOTHING but horrendous experiences. Today I wasn’t served at all. Sat for 30 minutes with my daughter in maybe a 40% full restaurant. Not even any water. And when we left no one even spoke a word to us. Just eye rolled like “whatever.” I was already taking a chance since the last 3 times I ordered the chicken it was raw on the inside. I told a friend last time not to order it because it would be raw...he ordered it anyway...and it was pink and bloody inside. This is an important piece of history in Atlanta but dear Lord the service is the worst anywhere. One time the waitress coughed all over the food and let us know she “wasn’t really feeling it anyway” when we told her how many mistakes she was making and suggested she shouldn’t cough on the plates. From the hostess to the waitstaff to obviously the kitchen that is microwaving frozen food poorly. It. Is. Terrible. I’ve even asked to speak with managers because I care about the business and have always tipped because I am trying to support. But honestly, it never fails to disappoint. I figured maybe leaving public reviews will create change.

Food for the Soul!

By tix2travel |

I can't say enough about this place. If you love soul food, then this is your place! Be prepared to wait if you don't have reservations, but we went to brunch on Sunday to beat the crowds and no reservation was needed. I walked around and didn't know where to begin! There is breakfast food in the front, and soul food in the back. Everything you can think of is available. Everything from omelettes to fried chicken to peach cobbler to waffles. You could sit here and eat for hours!! THE BEST food I have had in a very long time. And the service was great and the staff is friendly. There's a lot of photos of historical moments along with photos of where it all began with the restaurant. I love it here. There was a young man in the back that added to the enjoyment of sampling all of that great food because he made sure you tried everything!! Complimentary valet parking.

History...history...history

By SunilnRiss |

So much history runnung through this restaurant and we loved how they showcased it throughtout. Providing timelines, pictures, etc. We had to take a moment to really think about the brothers who opened this and their part in our rich history and culture, not to mention all of the important work they did in our community and the city of Atlanta. Oh yea, then there's the food. Catfish - A+ as I didnt even have to add tartar or hot sauce Dressing - delish, just wish they served more Yams- I thought could be a tad bit sweeter, but my wife. I was just right Mac N cheese - wife loved it Uptown (tea & lemonade mix) - "homer simpson yum" I think its a must go to if your visiting the ATL and yes its not in the best of areas, but nothing different then when you're dining in other metro cities as well.

Some of the best soul food I ever had

By CLTDUO |

Lived in Atlanta years ago but it took a visit for me to stop by this Atlanta institution. Brunch is scheduled to start at 11 am but they had a sign on the door, when I arrived, that said they open at 11:30. Not sure if that is typical. Brunch was $29 but worth it as the array of choices was on point. Could not decide what to eat. Did not make the waffle or omelet station as I was too consumed with the other soul food staples like fried chicken, Mac and cheese, greens and yams. Everything was delicious but please save room for dessert. Cakes were to die for. Cobbler was also good. Server was personable and attentive. Nice atmosphere with great music but again, get there early. Valet parking is available.

Worst Visit Ever

By Cal S |

For the past three visits, I have been terribly disappointed not only with the food, but the service was terrible as well!!! Our waitress had one of the worst attitudes I have ever seen. I will have to rethink future visits. For a historical place, I cannot recommend this restaurant to visiting except to take pictures @

Graduation lunch

By Jamie G |

We went there after my nephew graduated from Clayton State because someone recommended it. The building was beautifully decorated for the holidays. The waiter, Kardan M, was the best. The food however, was not. I've tasted better fast food, and much cheaper. The heavy set light skinned manager lady was so rude upon us arriving. I'll pass on this one.

Incredible Food!!

By LloydDob89 |

This restaurant started off our souther food tour right. The fried chicken and yams were simply the best I’ve ever had. The history of this place is phenomenal and was an incredible experience.

Lunch

By PamelaBC1230 |

I was a bit disappointed in this restaurant. I went there as a child growing up and it is not the same. The food was just “ok.” The service was good. However, they did not have any French fries and almost didn’t have any rolls (they found one for us at the last minute) We were there pretty much when it opened and they didn’t have what we wanted. We also had to wait a long time for our food due to a large to go order before us. Sadly, we will not return to this restaurant.

Soul food, great

By KP R |

Cool restaurant with an interesting history. Certainly caters to the southern locals which is a compliment. Reminds me of the food I ate growing up. Hearty and very good. Fried chicken was awesome as were the sides, southern comfort food and a few cajun options too. They close early so get there before 9. They have a bar but more setup for families.

Great Service

By Jackie D |

The service and food was really great! I had a vegetable plate with double portion of collards. My server, Naomi, was attentive and provided excellent service.

Amazing staff, good food, definitely a VIBE.

By Brail F |

My wife showed me a facebook post so we had to stop by since we were in the city..... Good food, good vibe, clean, great staff.. Would definitely come again.

Terrible

By Janis F |

I usually like this restaurant but this time it was awful. It was like they gave me food from the day before. Cornbread was hard as a break. I got there when they first opened. The seats in the booths are all worn and needs replacement. Waitress was awesome, just cannot remember her name

Really 4.5 - little glitchy

By Lisa G |

We were very pleased with complimentary valet parking, but less with waiting to be seated when there were plenty of open tables (assuming it was a staffing issue). We didn't make a reservation, as there were plenty of open times on Open Table - hoping if we had one we would have been seated right away. The atmosphere is cavernous rather than intimate or charming. No drink menu came with the menus (we were offered one, a little half-heartedly), so guessing it's not a heavy drinking crowd. We went with cokes. We all ordered fried chicken (w/various sides) and catfish fingers to start. Sweet cornbread bites were served to start (with butter below so it softens - smart). The catfish fingers didn't arrive though until after the chicken, and a reminder. Seemed a kitchen issue as our waiter was attentive enough. Chicken was great - super extra crispy, not too (but a little) oily, tender and seasoned well through and through. Yams were sweet (they were candied), green beans surprisingly fresh (not canned or stewed) and cooked well (which I like). Mac n cheese and mashed w/gravy looked good too. The catfish fingers were the prize - even better than the chicken - once they arrived. We were too full for dessert. Our waiter overheard us talking about knitting and was a knitter too - and taking up sewing too. Nice friendly guy and place, great food.

Great for it's history; food is OK.

By David L |

If you arr interested in history of the civil rights struggle in the south, you owe yourself a trip. Great staff but food ho-hum. Hot and decengt sized portions for the most part but their famous peach cobbler is too small and too gloopy. Fried green tomatoes and fried chicken were excellent. Did not enjoy the collards at all. Staff was fantastic, fast service. Glad we went but probably won't return.

Good Food, Great Staff!!!

By Default181031 |

The food was good, the staff was amazing! The host and hostesses along with the waitresses were all amazing and exceptionally kind! The only bad thing I can say about this place is that it isn't the "real" (ie Original) Pachal's and I think the idea of a fine dining fried chicken place is a little weird, but the brunch buffet is awesome!!!

Great customer service & parking yet Too salty

By Lalucci2021 |

Customer service was great last night! 1947 3 thighs fried just right but was overly SALTY. Both sides were heavily seasoned as well with the same flavor. Not much variation in the season of each item. I could only drink several glasses of water to clear the salt from my palate. Please taste for salt & sugar it’ll help with community health and your seasoning expense. I love this place but I love my health more!
