Great pasta!

By pandpd |

If you enjoy a good pasta do not walk past this amazing pasta bar. The food is just fabulous and the wine equally so.

Great Food. Great Service

By Tony Ericson |

One of our favorites. If you love authentic Italian food than this is the right place. The whole family loves it. The service is always great and we have never been disappointed with any of the items on the menu.

What a Meal

By Larry M |

Excellent!! Every dish is freshly made and you can taste that in your dish. It’s a small restaurant but the food is worth it if you have to wait a bit. With lots of food options in the market, this was the right pick for our group. Would definitely eat there again.

Touch of Italy

Quaint little restaurant with delicious pasta dishes in the market. The flavors remind me of the meals I had in Italy. If you're in the market, stop in for a bite

Pasta as in Italy

I’m Italian. You will not find many places where to eat a pasta as good as this one. Good and fast service. Even the dishes are cool.

The new standard for authentic Italian dishes

By LucisInFundus |

Folks, do yourselves a favor and put this place on your map. I took a break from my Yelp hiatus because this place deserves all the stars it can get. Finally a place that can really call itself Italian. I tried almost every dish combination they have, the menu rotates regularly which keeps things interesting and they have delicious dishes like lamb ragut with juniper berries, pasta with squid ink and there's always a vegetarian option. They make fresh pasta from scratch every day, with that machine tucked in the back, and they also suggest really good wine pairings (I don't usually drink wine for lunch). Also, I find the prices to be very reasonable considering that at most food trucks around Seattle you can't even get a sandwich for their price. The place is fairly small but you can always find seating in the common area downstairs. Most importantly, they cook everything in front of you. I love it when restaurants do that because it shows they have nothing to hide and that they can truly make a scrumptious meal in a short time, while you watch. Can't wait to try something new from the next menu.

Our favorite meal!

By cosmotron |

Wow. This is one of the few places whose food reminded us of our time in Italy – no kidding. We ordered from the ocean and farm categories: Tagliolini with Pacific Northwest cod, green beans, and Bottarga; and tortiglioni with wild boar ragout, juniper berries and bay leaf. Food came out quickly and we were able to find a spot along the counter overlooking the floor below. Sooo good. We were on a 3-week vacation and this place was actually our favorite meal (and we experienced many good dishes during our trip). Tip: When facing the big Public Market Center sign, the best entrance to find Pasta Casalinga is to the left of that sign; that is, walk a few doors south on the street, just past the information booth.

Excellent authentic Italian

By glfseattle |

This is an Italian family business, it’s near where they through the fish (head sound when facing the flying fish). The pasta and sauces are just like stopping in a small town family restaurant in Italy. The best!

Was recommended by a friend...

...and I wasn’t disappointed. Stopped in for their “farm” fish which was with pork belly and chard. The pasta was slightly over cooked for my preference, but the flavours of the olive oil and the pork fat can through nicely. Meal was $14 so pretty average for a lunch. Very informal setting which is trendy, but there was a shortage of chairs on their level so we went down two small flights of stairs to more seating below.

Mediocre At Best

By michaelv62b |

After reading about the Italian owner (Michaela, from Torino) of this restaurant and her approach to authentic Italian dishes and fresh ingredients from Pike Market, I was excited to try their offerings for the first time. I am a first generation Italian and compare all Italian food to the authentic cooking of my Mama and Zias. Unfortunately, although well intended, the dishes that we had at Pasta Casalinga weren't really bad, but they weren't really good either....only average and dare I say mediocre. My friend's pasta was overcooked and the sauce was not memorable. My pasta, although a bit under al dente, was under sauced and under seasoned. And, although there was enough pasta, both dishes were skimpy in their signature ingredient offerings (I would have needed a magnifying glass to find and identify them). Authentic Italian dishes are famous for their abundance in both ingredients and flavor....unfortunately, these were not. Especially when the prices are not that different from many well known, good Italian restaurants in Seattle. I guess this restaurant is ok if you're a tourist at the Pike Place Market and think you're having the real deal, but unfortunately, I would not recommend going there if you're searching for savory authentic Italiano tastes. I love the idea of this tiny (counter seating and a few two-top tables) eatery in the middle of a bustling market, and it is my true hope that the owner will take this review to heart and crack the whip on her cooks.....I'm sure if she were actually making the dishes herself (and/or tasting and checking the dishes occasionally before they are served), they would meet the mark and I would be able to shout "Viva Italia, Mangiamo".

Excellent Pasta!

Two words handmade pasta! This place was awesome. These girls know what they are doing! We found this place on a list of up and coming places and instantly feel in love. Be sure to stop in and enjoy!

Amazing food! Reasonable prices!

Had the “From the Ocean” ingredients so fresh and the pasta was cooked perfectly. Every dish we saw come out looked amazing and we wished we could have ordered it all. Service was great and owner was very friendly.

A little slice of Italy

By HIDogLover |

I love, love pasta. Seattle has its share of good Italian restaurants. However, if you want a simple bowl of good pasta and not have to wade through a laundry list of various dishes to pick out your meal, then Pasta Casalinga is your place. They know pasta and how to make it work. There were around 4 pasta dishes to choose from, clearly gleaning from the best and freshest elements of the day at Pike Place Market. It is centrally located behind DeLaurentis Specialty Market near the flying fish counter. Seats are limited, but they do take out. I ordered pasta w/ zucchini, walnuts, and ricotta w/ a side of burrata. All of the flavors worked together. I have been to Rome and Venice. Simplicity is key to a great Italian experience. As long as the ingredients are fresh, there is no need to over garnish and over accentuate. Let the ingredients speak for itself. And they do at Pasta Casalinga while letting you keep a little extra spare change in your wallet.

Great authentic handmade pasta and sauce

By cheftwig |

Walking around the Pike Place Market one morning and spotted this new restaurant in the Market Atrium space, next to herb shop Tenzing Momo. Closed then, so I came back at lunch. Wonderful handmade pasta, sauced with a combination of Torinese and Napoleana sauces, with great ingredients from the PNW. Looking forward to eating there again.

Excellent Pasta

By Wildwoodatheart |

I'd been wanting to try this place for quite awhile. We stopped in for lunch, finally, and had a wonderful meal. There's not much seating available, but we found a couple of spots at the counter. You go up to the cashier to order and find your own seat. They cook the pasta up fresh. Prices are reasonable. I had some lovely gnocchi. Yum! I highly recommend this place.

Outstanding

Little place on the corner of the Pike Market. Great pasta, our lasagna was exquisite. Great service and recommendations.

Amazing owner and food

STOP and EAT at this place, you will never forget how kind, smiley and fun are Italian people and how amazing is fresh homemade pasta from the expert hands of Michela. Well done Michela, I have to come back and try the new menu.

A Delicious Gem in PIke Market

By chiqa1023 |

An impromptu visit that was mouth watering! A small romantic, gem (mind you I went with my mom!) that leaves your heart happy and belly full. We ordered From The Ocean (spaghetti alla chitarra with pnw geoduck putanesca) and From The Garden (radiatori with spinach, pesto, stracciatella cheese, harissa). I"m only sad they were out of another dish, but in all fairness, we arrived 20 minutes before they were closing. They did NOT rush us, they were super friendly and cooked everything on the spot.

Pasta The Right Way

By Philip G |

Pasta, the way it's meant to be cooked, is difficult to find. Hand made pasta should be cooked Al dente, with a light touch, almost emerging firm. Sauce should never be poured over the pasta. The noodles should be dipped in the sauce then served. Pasta Casalinga does their craft beautifully, reminding me of the now passed Il Corvo, a nationally famous pasta emporium. If I wasn't so vain, I would eat at Pasta Casalinga several times a week, but my current metabolism is moving at a snail's pace. Go to this culinary treasure hidden away at the market. If you don’t like your pasta, you don’t know Italian cooking.

Best pasta in Seattle

By sam horine |

Making some of the best pasta in Seattle, Pasta Casalinga is tucked away in a corner of the atrium at Pike Place Market. It features an ever changing menu featuring an “ocean” pasta, a “farm” pasta and a “garden” pasta as well as the always available tomato sauce (get the buratta add on) and a homemade lasagna and you really can’t go wrong with any of the refectory al dente selections.

OMG!

By Reasonable50 |

Amazing pasta. This small kitchen only has a few choices. This simple concept produces incredible farm to table pasta. Highly recommend. Nothing fancy. Bar stool seats. Counter service.

No nonsense pasta

By Zigett |

Good value fresh pasta served up in the market. The lamb ragú tasted good but was actually minced lamb rather than slowly braised lamb shoulder (there’s a big difference in taste). Seating is limited and it's essentially self service. But still a good spot for a quick pasta fix.

Good value pasta

By bucketlisttravellers |

Tucked away from the chaos of the main Pike street markets section is this little eatery. They serve between 3 to 5 pastas for around $11-13 and vary this menu each day. We had the cod pasta and enjoyed it. There aren't too many seats, so best to come before 12pm.

Pasta the way it should be!

By D. Brian Mann |

Meaning fresh. Sauce can wait for the pasta, but the pasta never waits for the sauce. And ideally, both are created at the same time. That is the approach here We loved our quick meal here, and if I worked in the area, I would eat here every day. Just a few items, but all are good. We went for the beet pasta, as it was very unique and we'd never had it before. Loved it. Killer. Longing for it back here in Atlanta. Then, go around back and shop at the Italian market. Ridiculous fantastic.

Great Pasta with a lovely ambiance in Pike Market

By Rebecca |

2 weeks ago exactly, after walking in Pike Place Market, had a plate-full of Spaghettoni with Kale. Delicious dish, served by lovely and great hosteses. Set by the big open window looking at the people strolling on both floors. Great place, gives you the ambiance of the Market, for a very reasonable price. Don't miss, if you are there.

Amazing homemade Italian food

By PAllavurS |

If you love good homemade Italian food, this is the place to go for lunch if you are in downtown Seattle. Started by Michela who is from Italy (and sometimes you will see her Mom from Italy cooking as well!), this is an authentic restaurant with handmade pasta with some excellent food, including one option always available for a non-meat/seafood eater. Menu has 4 options and what comes out is excellent. The people are very friendly and feels like "home".

Definitely a hidden gem in the market

By Helmut |

I had eaten their pasta (take home) before, but I never sat down for a plate. Wow. Delicious! The location is quaint and sitting at the bar allows you to watch people move through the market while enjoining a nice pasta dish. Go early and on a Sunday for the best experience.

Pasta on par with Rome

By Benjamin Hyra |

This place really surprised me, tucked away in the atrium near pike place I though it would be a tasty carb-load to get me through the day, but i've been back a handful of times since and don't plan on stopping. They make their pasta by hand, and it barely has time to harden before they cook it and serve it to you. It ruined my mothers pasta dishes for me forever, and ive had a couple local chefs tell me that they don't even bother trying to make their own pasta anymore, they just buy from Casalinga. But what is Pasta without sauce? These guys kill it there too, there is something for every pallet, even kids. While not an average restaurant environment, being able to watch them at their craft as you eat just adds to the fun and authenticity. Definitely an underrated pike place gem

WOW!

By Larry S |

As many times as I have visited the Pike Place Market in the 48 years I have lived here, sadly I never spotted this tiny pasta bar tucked away in a corner just past and to the left of DeLaurentis. Yesterday I went shopping at DeLaurentis for my weekly fix of fresh mozzarella and ricotta and happened upon Pasta Casalinga. wow, what a delight! The pasta was cooked to perfection. And although the sauce I Love was not listed as a choice on the board, Nathan said h would prepare my pasta Aglio Olio. Surprisingly, he said he had never prepared it before. However, after a brief description his preparation was excellent. Accompanied by a couple of glasses of a lovely Barbers wine I was in heaven! Sitting on a stool at the window facing DeLaurentis I met a delightful young man from Italy, Gabriel, who had me sample some peppers he had ordered that I never tasted before. All in all a great dining experience albeit quite simple. Don’t miss this place if you want some wonderful pasta and a glass of wine at a very reasonable price. I am planning to return soon. Larry

Pasta heaven in the buzz of Pikes

Fab eats from a very limited menu in a casual environment within the market. Fresh made pasta and tasty sauces prepared with obvious love by a crew that know what they are doing

Small, friendly and true to the source

By Ronen C |

We spotted this gem in he middle of the market, hidden in a small alley. Do make the effort to find it. Small, friendly and truly Italian ...almost feels as if you are cooking at home. Only 5 dishes , but you don’t need more. This the perfect spot to have an Italian “snack” of pasta. Come and eat , to make sure they keep going .
