A Favorite neighborhood restaurant

By SANDRA S |

We go here regularly and I’ve never been disappointed. I take friends and family who also enjoyed greatly. The service is very congenial, the menu very interesting and well prepared.

Italian charm, Outstanding, authentic food and hospitality!

By sattelite10 |

My Italian son in law said this was the place to celebrate and to even bring his mother...a great cook herself and a "particular" eater. Our waiter was attentive, and made us feel as though he had been waiting for us just to be able to give us special service and great food. We started off with crusty multigrain bread as well as typical Italian bread to dip in olive oil and nice grated Parmesan cheese. Starters of friedcalamari and grilled octopus, and bruschetta were wonderful. Two of our group chose the Braciole beef rolls and we're pleased to take the extra home for another nice meal. The risotto dish simmered with squid, shrimp, clams, and mussels was as attractive as it was delicious. I had the chefs special fillet of walleye served in a lemon butter sauce with capers over linguini and grilled vegetables! It was light and tasty! The Gnocchi in pink sauce ( a creamy light tomato sauce mixed with ricotta cheese) was very special indeed as was the pumpkin ravioli served in a creamy balsamic sage and Parmesan sauce. We were a party of 12, and each thought the dish they ordered was the best..even the 11 year old who ordered the Margherita pizza. We also agreed that the service and the visit both by the cook and the owner, made this a memorable occasion and exceeded our expectations!

OMG! First time for delivery and food was friggin' amazing.

By Gwen Criscione |

We have been in Pasta D'Arte several times, Bid parties and quaint dinners. i wanted to get something delivered that wasn't greasy and tasted like home cooking. After spending an hour researching restaurants in the area for delivery, I came across Pasta D'Arte. I ordered the Bucatini alla Osso di Manzo. Hollowed pasta with braised short ribs. First off, delivery service exceeded my expectations. A half hour earlier than originally stated. my husband absolutely loved this dish. Ribs were tender, sauce was not to acidic and the pasta was done to perfection al dente. My husband and i are very, very good cooks. It is not often that we order out. Our jobs have the best of us ( I guess that's a good thing). I was so incentivised by the food that i called pasta D'Arte and asked for Manger or Owner. I spoke with Chef Mark who was so grateful to hear my accolades of his food. Great food for those that know their food.

Yummy Italian

A hidden gem in Chicago. Consistently great food. I highly recommend. Go there hungry and leave wanting more.

Always consistent

By readytoeat |

While the place doesn't look very big from the outside the facade was newly remodeled and the inside is cozy with 3 different rooms. None of the rooms are really big but each have a different feel to it. The outdoor area that is covered is really cool and opens up in the summer. They always have creative specials and wines on special too. I always try the fish on special its always fresh. I had the Chilean sea bass last and it melted in my mouth. The wait staff is very knowledgeable and can make special requests if they are not too busy. Aside from the wines on special they have a large wine list to choose from with mostly Italian wines. I have never been disappointed there and don't think I ever will be. From comfort food to fresh fish I know where to go for some good eats.

Great food & ambiance

By Sam2cats |

Had not been to this restaurant for 2 years and the food is still tasty & wonderful ! Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. The wine list was extensive. We went on a Monday night when you can bring your own wine with no uncorking fee. Check their website as they have Tuesday half price specials on certain wines ! We will be back and often ! Great tasting Italian food !

Could have been better.

By Dennis R |

There were four of us. 2 had Walleye which was the daily special. The walleye was bad. It was hard. Fish is not usually hard. The other 2 had salmon and a sea food pasta. Those dishes were pretty good and the only reason I moved this up to three stars. Pretty costly for an Italian restaurant with only fair food.

Not worth it for gluten-free!!!!

By madameadele |

I was thoroughly disappointed in the fact that they only had one type of gf pasta to offer. I feel like my meal was sloppily put together because they used a pasta different than they normally would with that sauce. I did not appreciate the fact that they didn't have any gluten-free bread or anything to go with my pasta, however had I been a gluten eating customer I would've had bread. I don't feel what I was served matched the price. I will say though, their sauces were delicious.

Great little place, close to home!

By Cindy M |

We came here recently with another couple for a dinner out. We didn't want to travel downtown, just tired of dealing with the crowds and parking. I'd heard people talk about this place before, so we gave it a try. We will definitely be back! The four of us arrived and were seated immediately at the time of our reservations. However, the other husband had to leave right away due to some transportation confusion with one of their kids. They waiter was great about getting us our drinks and not rushing us after we told him of the delay. Once we were all there, we ordered our meals. And even then, nothing was rushed, but we weren't waiting forever either. We had the following meals and almost everyone finished everything, except myself, I could never eat my entire bowl of past. We had the ravioli di zucca, ravioli di arragosta, veal marsala, and spaghetti carbonara. Other than the spaghetti (which was a very large serving), everyone was able to finish the rest of their meals. Everyone said it was delicious and hot! We also tried some desserts, the New York cheesecake, which was polished off, and a 3-layer chocolate cake. The cake was the only thing that was OK. It was a little dry, not the kind of cake I care for personally. Overall the atmosphere is great, nice ambience, good to sit around and talk, and not have to shout or whisper. The service was great. We will definitely come back!

Surprise in a city of great Italian food

By MMGTexas |

There are plenty of great Italian restaurants in Chicago so it can be hard to pick one. Pasta D'Arte has great reviews and lives up to them in so many ways. Quiet, cozy atmosphere with personal and attentive service. Prepared an excellent dish to meet specific dietary needs. Fresh and homemade. Worth a visit.

Dinner

By Mags boy S |

Great tasting food in the northwest side of the city. Service was great. Prices a bit high for the portions you get but worth a try once. God bless this location.

Dissapointing

By Mari M |

Based on other reviews my husband and I went to celebrate a birthday but left disappointed. We just couldn't figure out what other folks found to rave about. The restaurant was small with little in the way of imaginative decor. That would be okay if the the food was great, but it wasn't. My risotto was a sloppy, tasteless concoction. Where was the lemongrass and cilantro flavors the menu promised? My husband didn't like his beef and pasta either, but I won't get into that. The restaurnat is semi-expensive, and because of that I'm not sure if I want to give them a second chance. I did like the bread though and our server was pleasant.

Memories of Rome!

By parisparis5 |

This is a jewel of a restaurant that you would not expect to find in this part of town. One might think you would find this in Little Italy. Interesting store front. I did not care for the two female manicans on the balcony above the restaurant....seemed kind of tacky. The music before you entered the front door was too loud and made you think you were entering a bar. However, once inside, it was lovely. The kitchen is immediately to your right and is open to the public. We were seated in a lovely little room at a nice table. There is the main dining area and what appears to be a patio dining area right next to it (outdoors but with an canopy roof, also an outdoor fireplace). The main dining room was very small as well as the outdoor patio....but a cozy feeling. There was a small adorable bar at the back. The restaurant has one restroom that is used by both men and women. The dining room was clean, well decorated (lovely pictures of Italy everywhere). The waitstaff was incredible....very attentive. We were served a basket of warm bread. It was crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside....delicious. Olive oil and parma cheese on the table. They also brought jardiniera (sp?) that looked homemade. We ordered Insalta Caprese and their house salad.....both incredibly fresh and delicious. I felt like I was in Rome it was done with the same love and appreciation for food. One of my companions had spaghetti carbonara for their main course and the other had the tuna....I had a margharita pizza. All of us were completely satisfied. Everything was so hot, so fresh and clearly made with care. We then had coffee and dessert. Tiramisu that was outstanding. And tartufo just like you would have in Piazza Navona at Tre Scalinis......yummy. This clearly is a restaurant that is getting it right. Very reminiscent of meals in Rome. Everything fresh and great service. We parked on the street (free parking), but I believe they have free valet parking on weekends. Could not really see where there was a parking lot, but easily found parking on the street. We will go back for sure. By the time we left, the restaurant was full. Being that it is so tiny, it might be worth it to make a reservation. Wine list very good as well.

Positive surprise

By Annaline |

I live in the neighborhood for more than 20 years and I was driving by this restaurant many many times never suspecting that it could be a decent place. And when finally I end up here because another of my favorite restaurants nearby was closed I was nicely surprised. Be worn however, if you are not a meat eater ( as I am) there is not that much on the menu for you. I ordered salmon and it was delicious. And know that not only food is great here but the space is well design. Very simple but modern, clean and updated. The best part was service. Very attentive and helpful. I would definitely comeback here with my family and friends. They have 3 different rooms good for small parties. But the back two rooms have no windows. Note: they have a free valet.

My favorite Italian restaurant

By Cliff N |

Because I travel regularly for business, I've had the opportunity to experience many cuisines in many cities. When it comes to Italian dishes, Pasta D'Arte compares favorably with the best of Boston and San Francisco. I've dined there several times a year for the past ten years and have never had anything short of delicious. The staff is knowledgeable, engaging and treats you like family (at least the family you get along well with). Two recommendations. The periodic wine dinners are not to be missed. Their "specials" are just that - things that are special and out of the ordinary. When in doubt, ask for a recommendation. You will be happy you did.

Call first to be sure they are open

By Allen21096 |

We came to Pasta d'Arte for an Italian lunch, as they typically have had very reasonably priced lunch buffets or lunch specials. We found that they were not open, but from the permits on the window, it looks as though they are undergoing some remodeling and expansion to include a shaded outdoor patio along a new side entrance. We'll be back, as the Italian food has always been superb.

Little neighborhood gem

By SarahJSweetpea |

My husband and I have been here several times now. The food is very authentic Italian. The courtyard is the best, romantic seating in the restaurant. We love this place and try to get here as often as possible. All the servers are very good and very knowledgeable about the dishes. The chef is very friendly and comes out often to see how everyone is doing.

Northwest Side Hidden Gem

By Teelk3007 |

Fresh food, good service, nice menu selection. When it gets busy it can be kinda loud in the main room. Not much to do with such a small area and nothing to buffer everyone's conversation. Floor plan is a bit odd with having people in a few different areas. Portions are large. The chicken parmesan is huge, super cheesy and can easily feed 2-3 people. Will enjoy trying new things on next visit. Cappuccino's are great!! Gelato not so much here, too basic and nothing exciting.

Outstanding Italian Food!

By Pharmaretiree |

While visiting our children in Chicago, our son's future bride took us to this small, neighborhood Italian restaurant. Wow, we were blown away by the authentic dishes that were served. Our waiter, Chris, was very helpful in making entree recommendations and made our dining experience fun. Avoid the restaurant chains and support locally owned restaurants!

Fantastic Neighborhood Italian Restaurant

By A17503 |

Warm, welcoming service, nice wine list and the most extensive menu. I have such a hard time making a decision because every dish is great. Last night we chose two appetizers offered as specials, the lobster stuffed mushrooms and the arrancini. They have such an array of sauces for the different pastas and that's not taking into consideration all of the meat & seafood selections. We ordered three different pastas and each was better than the next. This neighborhood place gets a crowd almost every night of the week for good reason. They do Italian food right.

Great Italian food

By Allen21096 |

We went for lunch with my youngest grandson. Eric was our waiter and he proved to be very efficient and attentive. All three of us enjoyed the warm and tasty bread that is brought to the table. I ordered the spaghetti con polpetti and it was very tasty and it was a very nice portion. We also had the rigatoni del giardiniero - except we asked that they leave out the giardiniero part. It was also very tasty and my grandson loved putting the rigatoni back in the sauce. I think he may be on his way to being very appreciative of great Italian food. Certainly what they lack in overall space and parking, is made up by the quality of the food.

You can taste the freshness

By jock b |

It's so hard to stand out among all the "Italian" restaurants available, especially now with Francesca's and other notable franchises expanding. This family run small restaurant offers simple, tasteful, traditional meals with excellent quality and very friendly service. My family has eaten here twice in the last few months, and had a delightful meal each time. I heartily recommend.

Authentic Italian cuisine,Everything was fresh and delicious!

By DennisCarolStream_IL |

Authentic Italian cuisine They bring to the table Fresh bread, crusty crust, served with olive oil, grated cheese . Our serve was very helpful explaining the menu, as my wife has an allergy to onions. Our friends had Bucatini all"Osso di Manzo $17.95 Thick hollow spaghetti served with braised short rib meat in a spicy tomato sauce with shaved Parmesan cheese. His wife had the Lasagna Bolognese $14.95 Green pasta sheets layered with meat Bolognese, topped with melted mozzarella and grated Parmesan on a bed of tomato sauce. My wife had the evening special , Baked Cod in a lemon, white wine, capers and fresh tomato sauce, served over linguini, with mixed roasted vegetables $21.95 She said it was one of the best tasting cod she has ever tasted. I had the Braciole di Carne $18.95 Sirloin beef rolls stuffed with garlic, Parmesan and parsley simmered in tomato sauce and served over ear shaped pasta. I also order the Fresh Mesculine salad, tomato, carrots, cucumber & radish served with homemade Italian vinaigrette . Extra cost $3.95 with dinner. It wasn't a cheap outing, but we felt we got what we paid for. We expected upscale food, and they did not disappoint. The decor was very nice. It's sort of an oddball location, and being less than a block from Superdawg, it's totally unexpected. Our friends have lived in the area for many of years before someone recommended it to them. We will definitely be back. . Probably not so child-friendly. Also, it would be a very good idea to make reservations on a weekend. Open for dinner 3-10 They are also open for lunch, Tuesday-Fridays.

Authentic Italian!

We found this gem outside of downtown and it’s amazing! True authentic Italian food with lots of options on the menu that you don’t usually see elsewhere. Service was great, food arrived quickly and we had a great experience. We will definitely be back!

Great Time Will be back

By Jimmydgreek |

On a suggestion, my wife and I met 3 friends from high school here. It was a small quaint loud happy place. We started in the small bar where the bar tender was great. She had a great energy and nice smile. Once we were seated, our waiter Chris ran down the options with a sense of fun. We got three appetizers, all good. One was beef carpaccio, some mozzarella ball with a soft core, and I can't remember but it wad good. I had duck canneloni and it was good. This a preference if mine but a little less meat and one more tube and cheese. That's me. My wife enjoyed her pumpkin ravioli in a balsamic glaze. We shared deserts and they were great. We wound up closing it down. It was a great time. I wish I could do half stars because it wad near perfect. The only two complaints were the AC dripped on table and heads and it was a touch slow serve.

Small But Charming

By RetiredComputerGuy |

Had a Friday night reservation and was anticipating a problem finding a parking space. Didn't have to worry as there was plenty of parking on the street and the restaurant offers free valet parking. Since I got there early I ended up in the bar area for a relaxing drink. The bar is fairly small and is at the rear of the establishment. While at the bar I did notice that the bartender was not familiar with the liquor stock. Once my party arrived we were seated in a corner behind the bar. After a round of drinks and a lot of conversation, we ordered, All except one selected from the day's specials while one ordered the sea bass from the menu. There were nothing but compliments for all of the entrees. No appetizers were ordered and there was no room for desert. The prices are reasonable and our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and specials. Would definitely return when in the area.

Fat Tuesday wine dinner

By Cliff N |

The wine dinner last night was excellent. Mark Gianni perfectly paired wines from Umbria and other parts of Italy to the appetizers, pastas, entrees, and dessert cannolis and cookies. Each pairing was better than the last one. And all for $60. We enjoyed the wines so much that we brought two cases home. We'll probably drink some at a Monday night BYO. The staff - as always - was on top of their game. Pasta D' Arte is a true gem on the northwest side of Chicago - and one not to be missed.

Dinner with friends who moved away

By Karen Bellini |

Had a great time! Dinner with friends who moved away from Chicago and were visiting. Always love this place! Dinner was awesome and so was the wine. Nevena was our great server. She was so nice and understood we were busy talking and had to come back multiple times before we were ready to order. A great place and all the staff are very friendly.

Family-run Italian Restaurant

By Hans |

The food is outstanding. Everything is made fresh. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. We went for a birthday celebration and were treated like royalty. Tuesday's are half-price wine days which we don't pass up. Try it, you'll love it.

Awesome Italian on the North Side!

Great pasta, gnocchi, and carbonara - everyone loved it! We were here for a birthday celebration and the food and ambiance were great. I highly recommend!

Excellent food

Excellent food and courteous staff. From appetizers to entre the food was delicious. Decent selection of wines. Did not order dessert, ate to much during dinner.

Like home made

Special dinner

We met with local friends during a Midwest trip at this local gem. Great experience and delicious food! It was topped off with an excellent home made pumpkin pie made by the owner's mother. The place is small (50 seats) but a must at your next Chicago trip.

They are rude here. It's a shame as they have a great menu!

Delicious food in a neighborhood in dire need of good restaurants

By bonnie_voyagie |

Restaurant selection in the part of town is seriously lacking, but Pasta D'Arte (and nearby Polish restaurant Smak Tak!) are worth the trip. The food was very good and clearly well prepared with original ingredients and combinations. The prices are resonable and the service was pleasant. Also, they often have coupons available.

Good reliable interesting cozy restaurant

By SANDRA S |

This is a good choice for a neighborhood (in a nice way) place for an interesting well prepared dinner. Rather small but I understand they are expanding. Parking usually easy to find. We've been there several times and always found high standard of food and service. The "patio" room quieter. Wine quite nice. My favorites are seared tuna and acorn squash ravioli. Fairly casual but still dressy.

Truly a gem!

By GotTicketWillTravel |

Excellent Italian fare with seasonal specials and good service. Food is often uniquesly plated. The quality rivals that found at places which chare double if not triple. The restaurant is located in the middle of a strip of small business and could be easily passed if you're not looking careful enough. Definitely worth a visit!

Excellent and enjoyable

By Pianopilot |

The food is a notch above a neighborhood restaurant. Example Chicken Parmigiana usually served with a side of pasta....not here...the pasta is Cheese Raviolie on top of the chicken ( a more then generous portion of chicken breast) then covered with the parmigiana then baked. You can tell that this chef loves to cook and be the best. The service is great. On Monday evening the wine is half price. Very large wine list...a good time to try a wine that you might not want to order before because of price. Dessert..Cannolli had to be filled the minute we ordered...so fresh. Good coffee and very pleasant staff...try this place and look at items prepared not like an ordinary neighborhood Italian restaurant.

Northwest Side Treasure

By Frank W |

Pasta D'Arte is a gem of an Italian restaurant tucked away in a corner of the Northwest side of the city. The restaurant is owned and operated by Mark Giannini, who is both a classically trained chef and a descendant of a restaurateur family. Often, he can be seen walking among the tables, engaging patrons in conversation and always ensuring that each individual's meal is above standard. Meals include Italian standards, but also feature many of Mr. Giannini's creations as specials. Fresh ingredients are always used in each dish, and the quality shows. A more than adequate selection of wines includes the obligatory house wines. Mr. Giannini recently added to the restaurant with a courtyard that features a retractable roof for alfresco dining. In short, Pasta D'Arte is a fabulous restaurant for most any occasion, especially one involving the family.

Hidden gem. Authentic.

By ChicagoGirlReviews |

It all started with a phone call to make a reservation. They were so overly nice that it didn't even matter that they didn't have a reservation available. We went anyways and waited 10 minutes to be seated. Super friendly staff. The food was unbelievable. Authentic Italian dishes. The Seabass and Rolo - delicious! I felt like I was eating in Italy. The cook/owner even came out to greet us after a meal. We cannot wait to go back. We are bringing more family and friends ...to spread the word.

Have you ever been tossed out of a restaurant?

By Athena2 |

A group of three of us recently went to Pasta D’arte to celebrate 2 birthdays. We had made a reservation for 5 p.m. Although the small restaurant was so noisy that we could not hear each other, we were enjoying our food until at 6:30, a mere 11/2 hours after we were seated for a 4-course dinner, the waiter dropped off the check and told us that we needed to leave our table by 6:45 because another reservation was arriving at 7 p.m. We were very annoyed, but presented our credit card when the waiter again demanded we leave our table and told us to settle our check in the bar area. All of us have traveled extensively and eaten at every type of restaurant from take-out to 5-star Michelin restaurants. Never have we been treated so rudely. We asked to speak to the manager, who told us it’s not the restaurant’s policy to throw guests out, but offered no explanation for the waiter’s actions. The bartender offered us a drink, but we told him our evening was already ruined. I told both the waiter and the manager that this restaurant is by no means “Italian” because in Italy it is the height of rudeness to present the check before the guests request it, let alone demand they leave. We arrived wit high expectations for a wonderful evening, but ended up being tossed out, Neverr again, Pasta D’arte.

Best Osso Bucco ever!

Enjoyed a wonderful Mother,s Day dinner. Shared some dishes, with everyone having their own main dish. Great ambiance, service etc. Finish with pistachio gelato and capuchino. Highly recommend.

A true gem on Chicago's far nothwest side

By Laura W |

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from Pasta D'Arte since I have been disappointed so many times by restaurants that others reviewed favorably. I have to say that this place not only met, but exceeded my expectations. It has a small, neighborhood ambiance that is quite charming. There is a nice patio out back, but we dined indoors since it was hot outside. The food was excellent, artfully prepared and thoughtfully presented. The service could not have been better. It was easy to see that they had plenty of help, which was needed on a busy Friday night, and the servers were all attentive, extremely cordial and knowledgeable. Even my elderly father who usually is not a fan of Italian restaurants that serve anything more exotic than spaghetti and meatballs was impressed. I will definitely return to Pasta D' Arte to sample more of their wonderful cuisine!

Warm, family type atmosphere, yet sophisticated

By sattelite10 |

We had not been here in over a year, and were surprised by the new entrance and renovations. Actually they needed the room, and although the more modern look may not be as charming, the owner and wait staff continue to provide a personalized welcome and service. Our waiter Chris, had suggestions for us with regard to drinks and appetizers that were wonderful. He was entertaining and personable, and helped make our dinner very enjoyable. We were delighted to see zucchini flowers on the menu which were filled with cheese and lightly fried, accompanied by a creamy tomato sauce. The grilled octopus was excellent, as was the calamari. Two of us shared the premier fruit di mare pasta dish which included salmon and lobster tails and still took home a doggi bag. .The ravioli filled with mushrooms, cheese and spinach were swimming in the creamy tomato sauce , a perfect combination... We had an authentic Italian dinner, served by knowledgeable, entertaining staff who were attentive andvefficient!! Can't wait to return!

Delicious and friendly!

By Scott M |

Well, it had been a while since my last time here, so I took another look. Could not have been better! They had a special guanciale appetizer that was pork belly squares with figs in a honey/molasses sauce - wow! Used the table bread to get every drop of the sauce. My dinnermate had "beef stew" which was added that evening, which he enjoyed. I had the bucatini, thick hollow spaghetti served with braised short rib meat in a spicy tomato sauce with shaved Parmesan cheese - fantastico! I can't imagine ordering anything here that doesn't make you happy. Staff was attentive, helpful and very nice.

North Side Gem

By jlcardella |

We have been regulars at this little Northwest Side gem for 10 years. They are working on an expansion now that will dramatically improve the space. The owner/chef Mark is always present and personal, with special touches to many orders. Eric, a personal friend of the owner, does it all, including serving, wine selection and managing. He is outstanding at all roles. The food is the best part however; creative, plentiful, and just delicious. I have had many of the dishes and appetizers over the years. A family favorite is the pumpkin ravioli and seafood apps. Love seeing the growth and can't wait to celebrate the new additions.

Awesome Italian fare with excellent chef willing to cutomize orders

By Ken F |

My wife can be difficult to dine out with as she is a strict Vegan. The chef here was marvelously flexible and willing to make a special order that was not on the menu. We have eaten here twice both times with another couple and everyone has enjoyed every dish ordered. All the food served seems very fresh and is beautifully prepared and presented. The service both times was also excellent, attentive and helpful but never over bearing or in the way. As another reviewer said this is a true gem on Chicago's Northwest side and as good or better than any of the options in Edison Park.

Initmate, Attentive, Friendly, Low-Key, Conversation-friendly

By walnutridgechef |

Very intimate spot. Attentive staff. Warm, friendly atmosphere. Low-key ambiance. Reminds one of a nice family trattoria in Lazio, Umbria or Tuscany. Some very good wines on the list, sometimes there are 'specials', which can be a bargain. Overall, the food is above average, sometimes well above average for Chicago Italian eateries. A little less tomato sauce to step back from 'soupy' would bring the presentations into line with Italy, rather than Chicago, where folks do like their 'sugo abbondanza'. This is definitely a place to dine when in Chicago, in love, or in need of a real touch of Italia. Its NOT a place for people who "want to be seen", like many 'name' restaurants. The front dining area is the basically traditional long tables elbow-to-elbow format. I prefer to take my guests to the small and conversation-friendly bar room in the back where the host will seat 2 to 6 guests at separate tables. Pasta D'Arte also has a very cool private room for a party of a dozen. Make reservations. A Chicago treasure.

Birthday dinner

By Norm L |

Delicious food. Hasty meal. Must have been Xmas eve panic or something. Felt rushed. No soup, no salad with our meal. Unusual for an Italian restaurant. No offer of dessert or coffee after our meal. No small cupcake or cookie with candle to celebrate out son's Bday. Things that I expected, things you get at other Italian restaurants, were not offered. Will we go back, yes. Food was that good. Just could have been a bad night.

I want to try everything on the menu

By Ingrid W |

Celebrated a family birthday at Pasta D'Arte recently. It was my first visit to this hidden gem. There was nothing on the menu that didn't sound delicious. I had the Rigatoni Alla Vodka which was very tasty. Everyone in our party had nothing but good things to say about their meal. There are plenty of pasta dishes to choose from and assorted chicken and beef dishes. I will definitely visit again.

Excellent food, great service

By Allen21096 |

We actually had considered either Polish cuisine or Italian cuisine for dinner, but when we went to a nearby Polish restaurant, we found that they were closed for remodeling and then decided on Pasta D'Arte, for a good Italian meal. We were seated immediately, as it was after the big dinner rush. Warm, fresh bread was brought to the table, along with parmesan cheese to go with the olive oil on the table, plus a small relish cup. Our server, Alex, took our drink order and when he brought the drinks back. We decided to share a caprese salad and for our entree we also decided to share the risotto porcini e asparagi which was topped with perfectly done, medium rare sliced filet. Everything was tasty and even though there were two of us, there was food left over, as the risotto was a large portion. Alex and the staff were friendly and efficient. The price was reasonable for the quality of the meal.

Ho mangiato bene....

By Glenn R G |

Went with friends on a busy Monday (!). A bit hard to find parking spaces in neighborhood streets. Everyone happy with pasta dishes. Mine were the tortellina al forno. Fine filling and sauce, almost home cooking. Service was slow, probably too many people at once. Noise level/echo was disheartening...had to lean over just to hear seat-mates, forget about those across the table! Will go back again....at off hours.

From the moment you walk in, you are family.

By ChgoLvr2 |

From the moment you walk in you are treated like family. It is a credit to the attentive wait staff and the delicious concoctions the kitchen staff presents. Whether you are there for a week night dinner or a weekend celebration, you cannot go wrong. We started our meal with my favorite the Crostii di Polenta, which is a wonderful taste sensation with gorgonzola cheese atop polenta squares, followed by the Calamari Fritti, which is so light and crisp. The D'Arte salad is big enough to share and again offers unique flavor combinations. The chef was able to accommodate my special request for gluten free pasta Carbonara, which was outstanding, even better than the Carbonara we had in Italy, with a side of the bolognese meat sauce. We ended our special birthday celebration dinner with a sampling of gelato. I am sure you will enjoy Pasta D'Arte as much as my family does.

A Delicious Experience!

By Christine V |

We had a wonderful family celebration in the cozy charming atmosphere of the courtyard room! The food was amazing! Everyone in our party enjoyed their dish! They ranged from several different pastas ( Spaghetti Chitarra, Parpadelle in wild boar Ragu, Pesto Gemeli, Spaghetti Bolognese) to Veal Marsala, Bucatini with Short rib, Salmon, Lamb Chops in a Mushroom Shallot sauce. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was organized and professional. He had a great sense of humor which was absolutely necessary for our family crowd! Thank you Pasta D'Arte for making this an evening to remember! Everyone from the hostess to the valet and in between was warm and friendly! Desserts were awesome from the Lemon Marscapone cake with raspberry gelato, the chocolate pyramid, cannoli, to several amazing gelato flavors!

Just Passing through

So the wife and daughter are gluten free and we were traveling with my mother in law and my daughters guy , from Kalamazoo Michigan back to the Milwaukee area . We figured Chicago, so let's do Italian. We were about 30-45 mins away and placed a reservation , good thing cause the place was hopping when we arrived. The service was a little slow at first due to some new staff members getting there feet wet . But it improved once the waiter ( Chris) came an took our drink and appetizer order. He was very friendly and personable. My wife and daughter both ordered two different gluten free dishes ( both pasta dishes) 1 w/ clams & 1 w/ shrimp. Both very good . As for the rest of us we had a mushroom ravioli which was very tasty, chicken parm w/ cheese ravioli ( awesome) / & double wide spaghetti w/ short ribs also very tasty. All n all a great find if you are in or around the very north west side of Chicago. Thanks for a very good meal!

Great Italian food, nice new interior space

By Scott M |

Had a group here recently for dinner and the transformation is impressive. Staff is great, all the dishes are fabulous, particularly the bucatini with short rib in spicy sauce - chocolate lava cake and pizzas also great. A pleasure to dine here! Street parking only.

Perfect place

By Maggie B |

Everything from cocktails, appetizers, main courses and desserts were perfect! On street parking was easy - we only come here once a year to celebrate a passing of a beloved mom; we are remembered and greeted as family!

Pleasant Surprise will go often

By bbarr_11 |

I have my favorite Italian Restaurants but with 5 friends we thought lets try somewhere new. A pleasant surprise, small intimate restaurant, great food excellent service. The Bruscetti was simply the best I've ever had and the veal was so very tender. Ok wine selection but this place is about the food. Everyone in the group was impressed nary a complaint. The service was attentive but not overly so. I will be back and will recommend it.

Nice job with renovations, still great food & service

By Allen21096 |

We came to Pasta D'Arte for dinner. Pasta D'Arte is located just south of Devon Ave. on the east side of Milwaukee Ave. They recently completed a really nice renovation and expansion. The interior is contemporary, yet a bit rustic. There is an outdoor courtyard, an outdoor patio at the side main entrance, and about five different dining areas on the inside. We decided to sit in the one interior dining area that is immediately adjacent to the courtyard. The windows give that area a very open feeling. We were seated immediately and warm bread and grated parmesan cheese to go with the olive oil was brought immediately and our drink order was taken. We decided to go with a tapas-style ordering, as neither of us were real hungry. We chose three different menu items. The first item was polpetti or three homemade meatballs in tomato sauce. The second item was rapini e salsiccia Italiana or broccoli rabe & Italian sausage in olive oil & garlic. The third item was the fiore di zucchini which was three lightly battered & fried zucchini flowers filled with mozzarella over a bed of creamy tomato sauce. The three items tasted really, really good, but we thought that there was a bit of room left to share a dessert. We chose the chocolate mousse pyramid. It was good and it was very rich. The service was great. The prices were very reasonable, though we had nothing left over, like we often do. Congratulations and good luck with the new look!

Great Pasta and Italian Food

By JohnTheBear |

Crowded but intimate setting in a longish storefront with attached patio. Wonderful Italian dishes, very authentic and perfectly seasoned. This place is in a location which is otherwise rather bereft of many restaurants. Very helpful and solicitous service.

Almost 5 stars

By jackwidely |

worth the drive or Uber to this neighborhood gem. smallish and personal makes for a great place and Pasta D'Arte benefits from it. we had a very large group and they put us at a great table and were attentive from the get go. Wine and cocktails quickly delivered. Beet Salad, Octopus, Squid were ordered and brought hot and and satisfied all. Oh yeah, also got the artichokes. Hug artichokes at that. Octopus also excelled in white beans. (and the table upon arrival had baskets with two wonderful breads which were refilled as needed. parm cheese and their house relishes (spicy and pickled and heavenly) forced us to consume much bread and relishes (giardiniera i believe).) Main dishes were all brought together in spite of our large group. all were huge as they say. chicken, steaks, risotto, raviolis, at least 1 pasta and another salad were all tasted by the group and totally enjoyed. there were no mistakes, failures or disappointments. only have more wine and birthday cake with candle for the main man. no other desserts. i bet they are good... Manager took our order, owner and chef stopped by to wish dad a happy birthday and make sure everything was ok. it was. return often. go for the first time. reasonable prices for fine chicago dining, large portions (lunch for tomorrow for sure). free valet and street parking. make a reservation now.

Authentic Cuisine, Amazing Service

By Leo E |

Chef Mark does an outstanding job with Authentic Italian Cuisine... Mostly all old family recipes; beautiful combination of flavors, with great service, this is definitely the best neighborhood Italian. Ask for Chris at the bar or Eric the manager; they will both escalate your dining experience. Octopus appetizer is a must.

Excellent place for great Italian food

By Cecilia C |

This place has it all...great food, great service, good atmosphere. The only drawback is the parking (which is why it didn't get an "excellent" rating). They have an extensive wine and drinks list and the menu was varied and all appealing. The prices are a little high for that part of Chicago, but I believe the food and the service makes all of that worth it. I will head back here soon!

Hard-to-Beat Neighborhood Italian

By BadAngus |

My wife and I try to come here about once a month because the food is consistently great and the service is warm and friendly. As a result, we've tried almost everything on the menu. Meals are served with a loaf of fresh, warm bread and the city's best giardiniera. For appetizers, the calamari is awesome, as are the pizzas. The hardest decision of the night is whether to order one of their signature fresh pasta dishes, a seasonal special, or an entree from the "secondi" list on the menu. You can't go wrong with the pastas -- all are excellent and they tend to be less expensive than the other entrees. My personal favorite is Bucatini all'Osso di Manzo -- big, hollow spaghetti with braised short ribs and a spicy tomato sauce. If you're not in the mood for one of their pasta suggestions, just tell the server what you want. Chances are they can accommodate your request and whip up any sauce to go with pretty much any shape/kind of pasta. The entrees are great, too -- just let your taste buds be your guide and don't hesitate to get advice from one of the friendly servers if you're not sure.

Excellent Italian food

Had a baby shower there, they were so friendly. Helped us hook up our laptop to the TV so very one could see the new baby. We decorated, good size room over 50 people. Food was family style, pasta, lemon chicken, vegetables, and salad. Pizza and rice balls. Excellent . Great food. We had a wonderful time.

We will return

Came here with my husband and brother on a weeknight. Enjoyed a delicious meal, starting with crispy bread with olive oil and parmesan cheese (I asked for balsamic vinegar on the side to add). I had pasta with a curry sauce, which I thoroughly enjoyed. My husband liked his braciole which was tender with a tasty tomato sauce. My brother almost finished his sacchettini bolognese as it was delicious. Their creamy creme de Brule was a great finish. Service was friendly and very attentive. Highly recommend.

My 47th birthday

My kids brought me here for my birthday. Our first time here. And wow we where blown away. Service was great on point. The food was delicious and amazing some of the best gnocchi I had ever. The staff are all professional and personal and attentive. Even the owner came over to see if we need anything or if everything is ok. Top notch food and service. Where lucky to have this gem in our neighborhood. Awsome birthday

Pure enjoyment

By Mark E |

Started with the octopus appetizer and asparagus salad. No one does octopus better. The grilled asparagus was pretty phenomenal too. Main dishes were linguini del mare, sacchettini bolognese and ravioli with mixed seafood. All were terrific. Had the chocolate lava cake with mint chocolate chip ice cream for dessert. This place is a hidden gem.

Consistently Fantastic Every Time!

By parisparis5 |

How does this guy do it? He has such wonderful food from start to finish. Everytime we go, never are we let down. The food is fresh and delicious. The service is impeccable and sincere. When you walk in, there he is, Mark Giannini, the chef and owner...in this tiny little workspace but it is the first thing you see....him, working hard, in his open aired kitchen. When you go to eat here, you will understand why I am so amazed. The amount of work that he puts into every dish no matter how small or how big. They bring you warm bread with his homemade giardinierra (sp?) mix. I could just eat that and be happy the bread is so good and so is his giardinierra. Lovely wine list. They have many salads all which we have tried. But this time we just ordered a house salad each. My goodness....it was so big and soooo fresh. Not a brown piece of lettuce like most other restaurants. Cucumbers, sweet tomatoes, carrots...just lovely. By now, I was full already...just kidding. Then the main courses, what can I say. I have had most of the pastas and they are mouth watering. I also love the chicken made with a balsamic/garlic sauce. Just delicious. Then, dessert....so many choices and each...so well plated with every attention to detail and of course, delicious. My hat is off to you chef. We have told many people about your restaurant and what a treasure it is. Thank you for all of your hard work!

Pleasant Outdoor Eating

By JustARider2 |

The salads and entrees were tasty and presented well. The selections are varied from the traditional Italian fare to the more contemporary dishes. We asked for a variation of one of the offered entrees and we were accommodated with a smile. The server was courteous but appeared to be new to this establishment. We did not have cocktails, so I cannot comment on those. The outdoor eating area is of the smaller variety and located on the quiet side street. The back room can be noisy if there is a large group being served.

Unassuming excellence

By Yiayia Cathy |

When we walked in we realized it was closing in 10 minutes. As we turned to leave one of the cooks called out to the waitress to call us back in. They told us we still had time to order before the kitchen closed and we were welcome to stay as long as we wanted! I cannot pronounce the actual names of our orders but I had ossobuco stuffed tortellini and my companion had stuffed beef rolls. Both entrees were delicious. There was fresh warn crusty bread and antipasto as well! We will definitely be back for more!

Best ever grilled calamari. The food is delicious and portions are ample. Attentive service in intimate upbeat atmosphere.

Great food and Friendly staff

By John |

We went ti Pasta D'Arte for our group Christmas dinner (had to find a new place after Sabatino's closed). The friendly staff ushered us to an open room which we had to ourselves. We started out with Bruschetta which got the thumbs up from my wife. Next came grilled and flash fried calamari which was delicious. My wife had the Linguini Del Mare. She said it was close to Sabatino's Del Mare which is quite a compliment because that was her favorite Italian meal. It was a healthy portion and she brought home almost half of it. I had the Bucatini All'Osso Di Manzo and it was fantastic. The sauce was just the right amount of spicy. A Tartufo (for her) and a cannoli (for myself) ended a perfect meal. The staff kept the drinks coming and kept the water glasses full. We had twenty in our group and everybody was pleased. This will be our new Christmas Dinner place and I'll be back throughout the year.

Great food

By vroom2 |

Really enjoyed the food here and so did everyone else that was with me. All the dishes that were served were really good and were nice big portions, everyone took some back home. I had some gnocchi that was filled with cheese and jalapenos which i thought was delicious. It was not as spicy as the waitress said it would be but still enjoyed it. We also had Tortellini al Forno which my fiance enjoyed very much and loved how everything was well balanced and how the mozzarella was perfectly baked on the tortellini. The only thing i did not like was their tiramisu. We are big fans of tiramisu and like to try it whenever we go to an Italian restaurant but this one was disappointing. Did not have good taste and was a bit on the dry side.

Our new Italian favorite

By DKP8888 |

What a great surprise! The atmosphere was very pleasant, the wine was 1/2 price (on Tuesday), the server was very helpful and the food was amazing. The only complaint was that the kitchen was a little slow but well worth the weight for the excellent food. I had a Risotto with mushrooms and asparagus in a white truffle demi-glaze topped with slices of filet mignon. It was even more delicious than it sounds. The risotto was done perfectly. My partner had a pasta dish that was also excellent. The pasta was clearly made fresh in the restaurant and was as perfect a pasta as we've ever had.

probably the best Italian food I’ve ever had

By Jessica R |

Pasta D’Arte Trattoria Italiana. I don’t give out 5* often. To me, most restaurants are 4 stars meaning I got what I ordered and it was good, but no “WOW” factor. One word...unbelievable. Ok another word...unmatchable. THE best Italian we’ve had in a long long time...maybe ever (in the Midwest). Called in at 7:30p on a Saturday. Wasn’t expecting much but asked if I could put our name in for 3 people at 8p. Ended up, we took longer than expected so called again to apologize and to let them know that we’d be there by 8:20. Then I forgot the address and suddenly couldn’t remember the name of this place, so I had to call back for an address. All 3 of my calls were warmly greeted and very helpful. Thumbs up #1. Upon arrival to the building, we saw a free valet parking sign but found easy street parking close by. Thumbs up #2. We were greeted at the front by a few young hosts and were sat right away in the far back room. Ambience was typical Italian restaurant, dim lights, wine bottles for decor, pictures of Italy and jazzy music playing. We were greeted (after waiting for a bit) by our server...I think. Or maybe he was the bartender? And he was also running up front the span of the restaurant so maybe he was the whole package! Anyhow, he recommended an appetizer combo special they had for lent: fried calamari, coconut shrimp and fried cod. We agreed to order that barely before he finished, we were very hungry. That was served promptly. Thumbs up #3. Now we’re rollin’! Appetizer: Combo “Lent” Platter: the fried calamari we all agreed was the best we’ve ever had. Batter was so light but crispy, not at all soggy and not overcooked. Calamari was not chewy and just melted after two chews. Coconut shrimp was very coconut-y but good, a little “too coconut-y” but no complaints at all. Because oh the fried cod...was just wow. So light on the batter, and all 3 were piping hot; a sign it was made and served promptly in clean, hot oil. Salads: 2 lovely house salads (mixed greens, shredded carrots, cherry tomato, cucumber and a pickled beet). Excellent and fresh. But the asparagus salad was off the charts. Think: bruschetta but topped with Gorgonzola and grilled asparagus. It. Was. Magical. We could’ve ordered another two or three if just this, if not for our 3 pasta entrees en route. Pastas: Rigatoni ala Vodka was a lovely medley of prosciutto, rigatoni, vodka cream sauce and finely diced onions. All the flavors blended nicely and it was probably the best vodka sauce I’ve ever had. Bucatini all Osso de Manzo was an excellent spicy (arrabbiata) sauce with braised short rib beef meat and bucatini noodles (spaghetti like but thicker and hollow). The sauce was phenomenal and I like that it said spicy and actually was. Meat was very tender, clearly braised and roasted for a long period of time. Linguini del Mare is always my pasta go to. However, as you all know, I’m a chewy pasta gal and love me some gnocchi or cavatelli. I saw an 8-finger cavatelli, a favorite of mine, and asked our server if I could swap the linguini for the cavatelli. Not an issue. WOW, no shortage on the seafood! Tons of calamari, clams, mussels, shrimp and bay scallops in a spicy tomato sauce. Unbelievably delicious. All the pastas are no small feat; more than enough food for a small army. Regrettably, because we were in a hotel we couldn’t take anything home. It was a sad moment in time. I shed a silent tear in agony, looking at my cavatelli being taken away. Drinks: Our server was a little busy and refills were not prompt. Iced tea was interesting in flavor. No Dr. Pepper available. And my wine was rather strong but delicious (yes, I had to water it down with ice cubes!). Hey, if drinks were the worst thing, who cares. Food was knockout good. Sadly, no dessert in the cards as we had bubble tea on the brain as an after meal refresher. But we longingly stared at the tiramisu being enjoyed adjacent to us. Close to the end of our meal, we met a couple that had been going since before it was even this restaurant and was a fish fry place. Lovely couple. At the end, owner Mark came out to greet us and we learned just a bit about where in Italy his parents are from (dad North, mom South). Restrooms were occupied both attempts, not a huge deal. I will say, it can get loud in there if you’re within ear shot of some loud talkers, loud laughers and with lots of bottles of wine but hey, it was all a part of the experience. As avid “foodies” we all agreed...this was the best Italian food we’ve had in a long long time; maybe ever. And that’s no easy feat with our crowd; we wine and dine all over the country (and sometimes the world). But for the Midwest where we live, hands down the best. Mark-you’ve done good, sir! You’re parents must be very proud, as if you were my son with this restaurant, I would be!

Simply Great !!!

Wish I was better at writing reviews because my words don't do it justice, Just 2 blks from my house is one of the "best places" to eat in the city. A must is the "Polpo Meditterraneo" and the "Cozze Scoppiate". Specials are always a treat. Nice wine list. Great staff. Well worth the $$.

Spicy Pasta

We have been here so many times because of a recommendation from an Uber driver, so so good, their spicy pasta arrabiatta is so yum. Mira took care of us, she is such a beautiful person and really served us with joy. Loved every bit, waiting for the crème brûlée bye bye

Excellent Italian

Food was very good, we started with squid which was light and fried to perfection. I had a red sauce pasta made fresh and it was a delight. Lots of food, great service. Go!

When it comes to Italian restaurants, this is as good as it gets

By Taylor B |

After discovering Pasta D'Arte while driving to SuperDawg Drive-In, we persuaded friends to join us for our first-ever visit to owner/chef Mark Giannini's pride and joy. Located at 6311 North Milwaukee Avenue, south of Devon, in the Norwood Park East neighborhood, it is a charming family-owned Italian bistro with an open kitchen, three separate dining rooms and outdoor seating in an enclosed courtyard with a retractable roof. A granite-top bar with cocktail lounge showcases a custom built wine rack that holds 300 bottles, mostly from Italy and California but also from Australia, Argentina and New Zealand. Open from 11:30 to 9 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 11:30 to 10 on Friday and Saturday and 3 to 9 on Sunday and Monday, Pasta D'Arte wows guests with an array of antipasti, pasta, Abruzzese inspired meat dishes, Barese influenced fish entrees and veal specials. Emphasis on veal, our favorite. Our foursome started with home-made cream of zucchini soup, prosciutto e burrata with a four-ounce ball of creamy artisan mozzarella served with thinly sliced prosciutto de parma and tomatoes, bruschetta con parmigiano with Italian crostini topped with fresh marinated tomatoes and shaved parmesan and Caesar salad with mixed greens, crispy bacon and house-made croutons mixed with authentic Caesar dressing. For entrees, we chose scaloppine alla valdastana with tender veal medallions in a mixed mushroom and house-made demiglase, seafood cannelloni with baked lobster, shrimp and sea scallops filled in pasta tubes and served in a creamy tarragon sauce, branzino alla griglia with fresh wild Chilean sea bass fillet, grilled and served over a fresh sautee of spinach with white wine, tomatoes, beans and spinach and ossobuccodi marsala with a herb marinated and slow roasted 20-ounce pork shank served in a spicy tomato sauce over pasta. How's that for pure Italian? For dessert, we shared carrot lava cake with maple bourbon gelato, lemon mascarpone cake with lemon mascarpone cheese filling, Champagne sherbet with mixed berries and home-made New York cheesecake with strawberry sauce. And we had to skip the walleye and veal scaloppine marsala served over spaghetti and the spaghetti pasta tossed with butter, crispy prosciutto, dried fig, diced tomato, arugula and parmesan. Why did it take so long for us to discover this wonderful restaurant? Even in Chicago?

Great Restaurant!!

By Interspace |

Went here with some friends on a Friday night. We had reservations but had a quick drink at their bar beforehand.... cute spot and great bartender. To eat we had calamari, Caesar salad, a flatbread pizza, veal, and a pasta dish. The food was excellent, service and server were excellent, and the drinks and wine were great as well. Really enjoyed the atmosphere too. Not too bright, not too dark, and a cozy feel. Loads of food and drink options. There is also free valet parking! Highly recommend

Treasure in the Neighborhood

By Jane M |

Loved Pasts D'Arte. The wait staff moved very quickly and were extremely pleasant and helpful. We asked for something off the menu (since this was our first visit, we were a bit hesitant to ask..) Our server didn't blink and eye, said she'd be happy to accommodate us. She checked back often without hovering. And it was all so easy. Exceptional food. Intimate street level-space. It kind of meanders around which offers a good collection of "rooms" for diners. Had a lovely time. The bar looked very fun-- although we didn't stop there. Got seated right away.

Birthday treat!

Had another reason to celebrate with a top notch meal and Pasta D'Arte delivered once again. My wife had the Tuna special and I went with the Lamb sirloin special. Both maiin dishes were excellent as well as the scallops rockefeller appetizer and ceaser salad. Kalena our server was fantastic as always and steered us to a great bottle of wine! The friendly and attentive service makes Pasta D'Arte a great dinning experience.

Amazing!!!

Last night, I ate at Pasta D'arte for the first time, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. The meal was delicious. Service is excellent. I had the lentil soup to start followed by a wonderful artichoke antipasta dish, and the Braciole for a main. Great , authentic , flavor. Be sure to try the frutta D'Bosco for dessert. I'll be back soon.

Very good pasta

By John M |

This was a very small place, but has been enlarged a bit. Notably it now has a long table for a large party. My main dish was spaghetti and clams with an olive oil and garlic sauce. It was loaded with fresh and large clams in the shell and lots of sliced garlic. I accompanied that with a dish of roasted veggies with a mild balsamic reduction. Both were very good. Service was good but not special.

crazy quilt layout, great Italian

By rellots |

So, we met a group of friends for dinner here. Walk in to this cramped entry just to the left of the kitchen and were directed down a rolling walkway thru the main dining room into to the bar. We cozied up into a small space amidst a crowd of patrons, wine bottles, waiters, bus staff every which way you look. There is definitely a lively vibe in this"old school" neighborhood spot. After a round of drinks we meander to our table onto an added dining room via a doorway. Being winter in Chicago, there were extra heaters set up because we were probably sitting in a converted alley way. Not at all an issue for us but illustrates that this is a neighborhood place and alll about the food. They have a great menu with plenty of options. We had a bruschetta appetizer which was delicious. I decided to take a chance with Lasagna. I never ever order lasagna out- even though I actually love lasagna. I make what I think is the only one I've ever enjoyed...until now. It was abundantly flavorful and filling. The meat sauce was definitely slow cooked, thick and savory. Yum. My husband had salmon which he enjoyed and our friends loved the fruite de mar. The side salad was fine and we liked how they had all the dressing options including garlic and thousand island. Nobody seems to offer that anymore. That's the nice part of this place, no sheeshee stuff here, just good hearty food and nice portion size.

Well worth the trip

By Daniel K |

Good service, many, many great pasta dishes as well as other dishes. Our Ollie party of four walked out completely satisfied with the service, food, atmosphere and all at reasonable Chicago area prices

Good food, okay service

Saturday night dinner with friends. My wife could not say enough nice things about her waiter recommended Calamari. I had the gnocchi with white walnut sauce. The gnocchi itself was good. Did not care for the walnut sauce but cannot say someone else might not love it. I had misunderstood what it was going to be. Our friends had pasta which they enjoyed. Over all a nice Saturday night.

A most wonderful wine dinner

By Cliff N |

Pasta D'Arte is my favorite Italian restaurants. I've written about them in the past, but Tuesday evening they simply outdid themselves at one of their periodic wine dinners. First course was baked lobster tail with a crab meat and brandy remoulade dressing, followed by excellent shrimp bisque. The third course was smoked pulled turkey (capellacci de Tacchino) in a port wine and cranberry sauce. Then time out for strawberry sorbet (Sorbetto all Fragola); then on to pan seared filet nignon demiglace with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus wrapped in prosciutto. Each of the courese was paired with a very good wine from the Maso vineyards. Then to top things off there was warm panettone bread pudding served with vanilla gelato - and Noval Black Port. What a fine holiday dinner, plus I'm learning a little Italian as well. Who could ask for more. Merry Christmas!

Food is Amazing

By Barann36937 |

The food choices and wine selections are second to none. Service not always as great and prices are not cheap But it's worth it!

Excellent service. Good food made with fresh ingredients.

By chitownontheroad |

Really cute and quaint restaurant. Food is very good. Ingredients are very fresh. Tomato, barley, chicken soup was a bit bland (needed more salt and pepper). Mussels and octopus were cooked perfectly. Gnocchi and veal picante were also very well prepared. Veggies and pasta were al dente. Dishes had too much sauce for my taste, but that is my preference. Tartufo for dessert was excellent. Service was attentive but not pushy. At first, I thought the menu, given the neighborhood, was a bit pricey, but after eating and realizing the quality of the ingredients, prices are on par.

Great food in home atmosphere

By DrCUR |

This was our first time at this restaurant and we were surprised at how nice the people were from the front to the back of the house. It has a cozy, homey feel. Not like some national chain restaurant. The waiter was helpful with the menu and his suggestions. The portion sizes were huge. The dishes came out very delicious and hot (temperature) and that was good. There was so much food we had to take leftovers home. We will definitely go back there for another meal

Charming Character, Delightful Dishes, and Superb Staff

By Ryan R |

So glad we found this place, which was unknown to us until we visited - you'd easily miss it walking or driving down the street. Bartender there told is it had been around since 2002 and they rely on word of mouth. Upon arriving, we were seated next to a large group that was a little loud, so the hostess came back a minute later and offered us the back room bar area where no one else was seated. Perfect! Very nice, cozy atmosphere with dark tones of red wood panels and elegant seating. They also have a narrow outdoor seating area between the two buildings which looked very cool as well (although it was occupied by a private party when we went). Food was very well prepared - the grilled octopus app was delicious, gnocchi was savory and tender, and my wife's pasta was wonderful as well. Decent selection of wine of which our server was helpful in guiding through. Total bill was around $75. Overall, the staff was very accommodating, food was great, and atmosphere pleasing. Will keep this place in mind for future dining out.

Absolutely delightful dishes shared between 8 of us. The waiter was attentive with a wonderful sense of humor. Cozy, unpretentious atmosphere makes you feel like you're dining at home but no cooking involved! Specials are not to be missed as well as gelato.

Decent Italian

First time here. There is parking on the street or valet. The restaurant is bigger than it looks. It has four different rooms and a full bar. The menu is pretty extensive. We enjoyed our meals and desserts. The prices were average. I probably won’t be back. I like Regalia in Edgewater better.

What can one say but just " OUTSTANDING" !!!!!!!! A bit hard to find but a Great place to for a DATE NIGHT. Food was as great if not a bit better than's Moms,(SORRY MOM). Our waitress took the time to explain and offer her take on foods, and wine. The food was heavenly one can not find the words on just how great it was. You have to try it your self, you won't be disappointed. We will be going back soon.
