Outstanding, Upscale Kosher Dining Experience

By rafiSoCal |

Food, ambience and table service are quite good. This was our second visit to this fine dining experience. We'd like to see an expanded menu, however, that includes more entree choices that include Kosher vegetarian and fresh vegetable selections. If you're into well-prepared, upscale and tasteful kosher food, this is one of the few locations in the Greater L.A. area where you'll find it.

Never had a bad meal here.

By garyschoenberg |

Okay, full disclosure. For thirty years, I hadn't had a steak. Mostly vegetarian. Looked at my son, one day, and said, "You've never had a steak. Let's go get one." We went to Pat's because we needed it to be kosher. We shared a charbroiled prime rib. Inhaled it really. It was juicy, succulent, delicious! I knew one thing for sure: it wouldn't be thirty years before I had another. Wasn't. Every time we are in LA, I'm going to Pat's. Need I say more?

Consistency excellent

By doctorlen |

For years we have neen pleased to celebrate a special occasion at Pat's. The food, service, and ambiance is always predictable and rxcellent!

Kinda disappointing

By BobField |

We had heard from a lot of friends that this place was really great. But we found on our recent visit that the food was very meh. Nothing special, very pricey. Has pretensions of a steak house, but the should visit Le Marais to see how to step up their game!

Elegant kosher restaurant with excellent food and service - great for business lunch as well

This kosher restaurant has excellent food and service - great for business lunch as well. Nice atmosphere and the place to run into who's who!

All a restaurant should be

The selection is rich and varied. The food is fresh, innovative and delicious. Should you be craving something off menu, they will prepare it for you!!!

Wonderful birthday celebration!

By Traveller90212 |

Pat's is the #1 kosher restaurant in Los Angeles. All menu items are creative, fresh & served beautifully. We had a limited menu, passed appetizers, a steak or fresh tuna nicoise for a birthday luncheon celebration for 50 guests. The service & ambiance were exceptional. Definitely a go to restaurant for a small party.

Consistent Quality

By Cena A |

I have been dining at Pat's restaurant for several years. I have never had a meal there that wasn't done to perfection! The wait staff are friendly and informed. The food is consistenly high quality and served beautifully. Whenever we have out of town guests…we take them to Pat's. Whenever we are celebrating a special occasion…we go to Pat's! Recently I took my friend there for lunch…she was celebrating her 103rd Birthday! She ordered the largest rib eye that they make, and ate the WHOLE THING! She even made room for a little desert…everyone sang to her and made her feel very special indeed….just leave room for desert…or you'll have to come back again just for that!

Not as good this time

By Trup |

Well, contrary to our visit to Pat's the last time we were in LA, this time my rib-eye steak was quite good but not at the level of the past experiences and not what you should expect at the very high prices charged in this kosher restaurant. Sigh.... Also I did not think that the sides, other than the very small portion of scalloped potatoes, were very good at all. Too bad. All this being said, my wife found her steak to be closer to her expectations. Maybe it's just "the luck of the draw!"

great food! fast service

By sam m |

Great service. Delicious food. solid outdoor dining. The atmosphere was so calm. Try the stuffed mushrooms its heaven

Beautiful experience, excellent service, great food

By ushiobst |

I took my granddaughter to this restaurant for an upscale dinner. Tablecloths and intimate lighting. Great service. Great food (sizable portions). Great experience. I had the seared tuna, which was very good. And she had the Pasta Arabiata which she loved. Wine was also good and reasonably price. All in all an excellent kosher restaurant. OU heksher.

Nice experience

By Joseph |

Loved the food. loved the vibe! I will definitely be back. Pat's has a nice selection of food as well as drinks.

Inconsistent but quite good this time

By Trup |

I have written multiple reviews of Pat's -- sometimes when we have gone for lunch but mostly for dinners during our frequent visits to Los Angeles. This time my wife and I went for lunch and ordered their classic hamburgers -- a very large and tasty patty with really good French fries. Expensive at $20 but it's a kosher restaurant which by definition means higher prices. The service was prompt and pleasant; easy to converse with one's companion(s).

Mediocre Food, Horrible Service.

By NomadicNina |

The last time I was at Pat’s, the food was fabulous, the setting wonderful, and was so excited to return. But I was so disappointed at last night’s visit, and thought it was mediocre at best. First of all the inside restaurant is closed, I asked many people but no one had an explanation. The acoustics outside are so poor that it is impossible to hear, even with just five people around the round table. Secondly, the service is abysmal. Five people or more have an automatic 21% gratuity. So, I suspect the servers ignore those tables because they have their money earned before we even order. Food is brought without silverware turns cold. Water is poured into wine glasses. Food is not brought out at the same time. It is sloppy and uneven. Thirdly, the food itself is uneven: the steaks and hamburger were delicious, the chicken and lamb riblets inedible. Sides tasteless. For prices like this, the food should be excellent and for prices like this valet parking should be included. I will not return. And cannot recommend.

The Dilemma

By PlatinumHoney |

Is Pat's average because, compared to restaurants in its class, it really isn't anything special, or is Pat's average for its cuisine, kosher, that's a dilemma that impedes the review here. Not a lot of kosher restaurants, and always glad to frequent one and support having this cuisine. That being said, while my lunch was pretty good, it really was average; had the chicken Milanese (a dish I have had many other places with better success) with tomato and arugula (had to ask for more arugula, which arrived without any question), and it came with a plop of mashed potatoes, which totally could have done without and never tasted, and, in fact, just removed it from my plate to the side. Warm rolls served with two rather bland spreads, and the rolls, while warm, not so great. The Milanese was cooked well and the chicken was good, the dish prepared properly, but nothing special, just average. The arugula had a garlic overload, but was fine. Also had the rigatoni which was too spicy, a rare statement from me who enjoys spice and a surprise at this establishment, an overly sauced. Service was attentive and good, with lots of unrequested ice tea refills. White tablecloths and white cloth napkins. Pleasant enough surroundings and a full bar. But the food, average. But, if you want a kosher meal, this is a classic go-to spot in LA.

Wonderful food

By dee l |

Faultless, always consistently good. Service with a smile. Had the special, a cut of beef called Boca Grande. Shared one between 3 people, beyond delicious. Highly recommend when you're in LA.

If I want an excellent choice of menu and the most brilliant food, it has to be PATS's.

By Shoshana H |

For the individual, a few friends, family get-togethers, a work meeting or any kind of special celebration - day or night - this is a lively place with the most delicious delights. A meaty restaurant, also serving fish and vegetarian for non-meat eaters. Have a nice choice of wines. If you like a quiet restaurant, not sure when that will be here but it has a touch of elegance and feels a romantic place to me despite that. It is often crowded and usually best to book. Restaurant does offer parking right outside.

Culinary Experience

I organized a small group of people to commemorate an occasion and the service and cuisine were outstanding. The variety of food and quality was sumptuous and it is a Kosher culiary delight - try it out for yourselves

One of the Best Kosher Dinner Houses in Town

By ALAN F |

There's a reason Pat's is so busy. Delicious food, upscale service and atmosphere make this meat restaurant perfect for special occasions or important business dinners.

Excellent kosher food

By Tripsfor100 |

Prepared well, served timely, professional waitstaff. The food is tasty, fresh. A must stop if you are Kosher.

Great food and big hearts!

By Tammy M |

I was staying at a nearby hotel, and just happened upon this place. The brisket sandwich was amazing, but it was what happened while I was there that was the most compelling. An elderly man was struggling to get on a bus in front of the restaurant, and the bus driver just drove away while the man tapped on the windows and teetered in the street. Several of the restaurant staff expressed their concern and started trying to figure out what to do. One of the other diners who apparently owns/runs Label's Tables Deli across the street went out and helped the man onto a bench outside and found out he only needed to go a few blocks to the grocery store. The manager/owner at Pats was making arrangements for one of his staff to take the man to the store when the deli owner said he would have one of his drivers take the man to the store and back, and he did. These are the kind of businesses that I want to support, so if you go, tell them where you heard about them.

One of the worst experience

By Daniele C |

I order a steak that was very very small that i paid 45 usd. the dessert was terrible. the chicken of my wife was disgusting. I waste 200 usd for one of the worst dinner i never had.

Best kosher place in LA

By SJL1605 |

Ate there twice. Both times a pleasure. Great food and great service. If they have the bread pudding on as a special for desert make sure you order it - AMAZING!

Excellent Food and Excellent Service

By yoinish l |

We were told that when visiting Los Angeles we MUST go to Pats. We were not disappointed. The food was really delicious and the service incredible. We will definitely go back again if the opportunity presents itself. Highly Recommended.

Great Kosher Cuisine!

By Eli S |

A staple in LA for Fine Kosher Dining. The food and service is always good and consistent. The only drawback is the place needs a makeover as the atmosphere could be much better than what it is. You must order the Bread Pudding for dessert!

Elegant dining!

By Ramiyonat |

Kosher food at it's best! I enjoy dining at Pat's with my husband it is our favorite place for celebrating an event. The food is amazingly delicious, the service is great and I love the atmosphere. It is clean and quiet and you must make reservations to get in any time almost.

Elegant & Great Food

By SampyPandit |

I have been going to Pats for the last three four years and I believe it is a value for money place, probably my most favorite Kosher place. Simple yet elegant, cheap yet delicious is what I would say of this great place

Pat's downslide continues (sigh)

By Trup |

We visit L.A. often (3-4 times annually at least) and Pat's has been my wife's favorite steakhouse in LA for many years. I think we have eaten there at least 12-15 times -- and until the last two visits, we were very pleasantly satisfied. A few months ago we ate there and thought the quality of the beef simply was not as good as we had experienced it before -- and we hoped it was simply an off-night. We went again last night with another couple and each of us ordered a rib steak. These were not recognizable as rib steaks; worse, the quality and the taste were sub-par. We shared the chicken skewers as an appetizer -- not bad but nothing special. The waiter was reasonably efficient but rather indifferent. When one pays a premium for kosher meat, one expects a decent experience --- sadly those expectations were not met on either of our last two visits. They have to regain their mojo but until we have heard that they have, we will take our LA meals elsewhere.

Terrible

By jersey080 |

We arrived in LA and checked into our hotel about 5pm, decided to walk pico blvd, came across this restaurant, looked very breath taking. We order prime rib for two, was horrible, so bad I wouldn't feed it to my dog. My husband was using a knife like a saw, prime rib is suppose to melt in your mouth, it looked like he put a slab of a dead cow on my plate. I couldn't even cut it, there was a big vane in the center, very poor cut. We told the manager we were jet lag and would come back. Never would go back, service was to slow, seating is too close to each other, I don't enjoy having my conversations shared with strangers. Horrible will never go back when in LA again.

Decent.

By badbaruch57 |

I expected more from this kosher resturant. Service was good. But food ok. Had the young hen. Too spiced up. Snitzel fair. All all just ok.

Much better this time

By Trup |

My wife and I visit LA at least six times a year --- and for quite a while each visit would include a meal at Pat's. After a couple of disappointing experiences (see my prior reviews), we stopped going but decided to give them another try on this visit. We had a late lunch a few days ago each of us ordering a hamburger -- the burger was truly delicious so maybe we will return for dinner one of these days. The service was prompt, it was relatively quiet but, most of all, the meal was really very good.

Nice lunch

By jaydeemom770 |

A fine place for a business lunch. Great service, delicious homemade iced tea. My Chinese chicken salad was very good, if a little unimaginative. Biscotti at the end was a nice touch.

Great place to eat

The best kosher restaurand in Los Angeles

By Bob J |

This is by far the best kosher restaurant in Los Angeles. Food is great service top notch. Their veal chops a must have. Highly recommended.

Love Pat for Pat's

By FootPrince |

Had celebrated our son's graduation from Grad School 9 years ago & now 14 of us returned for our brother's birthday celebration. We were not disappointed! A terrific meal where everyone ordered off of the menu and no one was dissatisfied. And the chocolate Bread Pudding for dessert surpassed any typical birthday cake. Great service. Bustling atmosphere on a Tuesday night. Certainly, a popular spot on the kosher strip of Los Angeles.

Nice place to eat

By Venice N |

Staff are friendly and meals are substantial. They also have themed nights, the night we went it was sushi night however we ordered from the menu.

Always a Superb Experience

By Joseph F |

I have never had a bad meal here, nor a bad server, in many years as a customer. The food it top-notch, and the service is excellent. Whether you are eating alone, with friends and family, or conducting a working meal, Pat's never fails. The menu shifts around slightly, but my favorites are the skirt steak, the crispy avocado appetizer, the sea bass and the bread pudding. Pro tip: the bread pudding is excellent, but takes a while to prepare, so order it the minute your server checks on you to ensure it will be ready. Pat's also features a full service bar that makes superb cocktails. Highly recommended.

A good restaurant goes far beyond the food

By benjudah |

Ok, so... A few young Jewish lads are traveling the US on a budget and are recommended to go to Pat's. They are told it will cost around $30 a head (Hmmmmm...). They book. They turn up. They are stunned - there is no way this is costing 30 Bucks. When we tried to leave politely and apologise for taking up a booking we were ushered back in by someone we thought was a waiter. Scared and confused (we are British after all!) we sit down and think how we can order as little as possible without offending. This waiter is taking none of it, brings starters, soft drinks, wine, steaks and then desert! We had no idea how we would pay, but thought we could survive on bread and jam for the rest of the trip, the food was absolutely jaw droppingly good after all. The bill arrives and the waiter says he hopes we enjoyed the meal - we had been charged a fraction of what was ordered (not what was actually given to us which was much, much more). It was only later we found out that this 'waiter' was in fact the general manager. Such a super nice guy who didn't want a handful of traveling young Jewish boys to be at a loose end. Top guy, Top restaurant.

Excellent pricey whittle table cloth kosher

By kitty k |

So good you'd never know it was kosher, according to my friend's mother-in-law. Great food, great service, valet parking.Good for ladies who lunch pr families who celebrate! Great for everything as long as you are willing to pay the price.

Unexpected Deliciousness!

By Miriyam |

We celebrated our anniversary at Pat's and everything we ate was so delicious, beginning with my cocktail. We eat meat about once a year -- the so-called "spare ribs" here -- and they are just so flavorsome! Pat's is expensive, but really worth the money -- surprisingly (to me) it was packed with young people. Even if you are not a kosher adherent, it is a fine restaurant in the Pico-Robertson area for a special and delicious dinner.

Pat's has regained its mojo!

By Trup |

My wife and I had excellent steak dinners on this visit to LA -- I have written several reviews of Pat's over the years -- some reflecting disappointment, others reflecting pleasure. This visit was excellent -- good service and excellent food (expensive but worth it). Also we each had a glass of wine served in a generous portion.

Kosher dining at it's best

By William H |

Went here with my Jewish friend and was rewarded with a delicious meal. A bit expensive but that is expected at a Kosher restaurant. Would visit again

Great dinner & dessert

By Steph003 |

We visited this restaurant in July 2016. I made sure to make a reservation because we knew how crowded it gets. We had a party of 5, me & my husband and our 3 teenage kids. We orders steaks and grilled chicken and the meat lasagna and for dessert we got the bread pudding which was amazing. Our entrees were tasty. The service was a little slow the night we went, which was a weeknight, probably because it was so crowded. It is an upscale kosher meat restaurant and we will return on our next visit to LA.

They Never Fail

By cathy l |

I have never had a bad meal at Pats. The servers are real pros who take pride in their profession. While it is an upscale restaurant it never feels pretentious. And they are consistent! I have been eating hear for over 10 years and am so happy that they never fail me!

Excellent Kosher Meat Restaurant

By Jennifer S |

This is the premier kosher restaurant in Los Angeles. You must make a reservation or expect to be turned away. The food is always fantastic and the service is excellent. Beautiful atmosphere. A great place to take business lunches and dinners.

Excellent Food and it's Kosher!

By Leah B |

Pat's is an excellent kosher restaurant. You'll find the steaks cooked to your specifications, a good variety of food choices on the menu and a full service bar. Large private parties may be held in a separate room with private entrance.

This goes beyond kosher

An excellent meal that just happens to be kosher. Not the cheapest but well worth it. Service is solid.

Top Notch

Top notch restaurant. Delicate food, outstanding service and fantastic ambience. Definitely recommendable!

Very decent

Food was good, service was decent. Decor/atmosphere is very average. Price is fair for kosher sit down restaurant

Dry steak, and a burning plate

By Jack G |

Ribeye steak was $40, and I expected something juicy. I ordered it done medium. The steak instead came very dry and not tasty at all, giving the impression that either it wasn't very fresh to begin with, and that it had been way overcooked. Worse, the plate itself was burning hot, and I literally burned my finger by touching it. The waiter had said something quickly about something being very hot, but it never occurred to me that touching the plate would literally burn my finger. I wonder if they have a contraption in which the entire dish is kept burning hot, maybe waiting for the waiter to pick it up, and maybe that's why the food was also overcooked. Not a very nice experience overall.

ups and downs at Pat's

By jeffrey k |

this was a meal with family, unfortunately, people tended to order the same, so not a lot of items to comment on. spaghetti with meat sauce was OK. chicken tagine was also OK, but I would have preferred it a bit spicier. for what you get, this is not an inexpensive restaurant. key attractors are that it is kosher and convenient for many people. and they have valet parking in an area with poor parking access (OK if you can walk, not OK if you are with family who can't walk a distance). also, attractive among the number of kosher restaurants in this stretch of Pico Blvd where you can get a "regular" meal, generally European inspired overall, with table service. I downgraded it on the basis of some service issues and value. key: reservations are advised. i noted that wheelchairs and walkers can be accommodated, but it is not easy in this location for handicapped people overall.

Excellent Evening Out

By wolsy1 |

First time in Los Angeles, and Pat's was high on everyone's recommendation. We phoned ahead to book a table as the December period is always busy where ever you are. Looking through the menu there was an abundance of choice. There were 4 of us (all adults - not really a kid place) and we had a starter, main course and shared a desert between us. The food was fabulous, the ambience was great, the waiting staff were excellent and always on the ball topping up water and fountain drinks. They were very knowledgable about the menu and what was actually in the food (we had some allergies between us). Also a big thing for me is how clean the cutlery and glassware look, how clean the table cloth is, how clean the floor is, and how clean the restrooms are. Pat's passed on all these accounts! My recommendations would be the stuffed mushrooms (DEVINE!) and the beer battered onion rings (scrumtious - and I'm an onion rings fiend!), and for the main course the steak was excellent cooked perfectly, I'm not a steak fan and even I enjoyed it. Their Thai Chicken was also excellent, very fragrant and the blend of flavours was excellent. We also opted to have their chocolate bread and butter pudding between us. You need to give them 30 mins notice as it takes that long to make it... we decided "what the heck" and went for it. We couldn't have had one each but between 4 there was more than enough... one word.. "wow!" All in all it came to (including drinks, tax and tip) about $100 per couple, which I feel is excellent value! The portions are excellent and service is great. It was highly recommended to me, and now I am highly recommending it to you.

Excellent

Pat's moved -- and it was a smart move

By JmidAtlantic |

We try to go to Pat's Restaurant every time we're in LA, which is usually 2-3 times a year. But with Covid, we haven't traveled much. However, we felt safer coming back this month, and of course we immediately made a reservation for Pat's. When we got to the restaurant, we saw that it was dark and closed. Fortunately a passer-by was able to point us across Pico and a block further west to Pat's "new" site, which it's been at for the past two years. They've converted a parking lot adjacent to what might have been a restaurant into a lovely outdoor spot, with tables well spaced and plantings and romantic lights. However, the food hasn't changed: it was as good as ever from the new kitchen, wth a few new dishes and all the old favorites. The night we were there the special was lamb chops. I ordered them medium rare, and they arrived medium, but I wouldn't let Ciro, our charming and excellent waiter return them, because they were as tender and delicious as any I've ever had. Wow! My husband had the BBQ-beef sliders as an appetizer, and he loved them. His chicken tagine with couscous was a treat. We didn't order dessert, because we were too full, but the chcolate bread pudding looked delicious. Pat's was smart to move to an all-weather (tent, plus heaters for cooler evenings) location where those of us who love Pat's can feel as well cared for as always. And if you go, ask for Ciro. He made our evening even more special.

FANTASTIC KOSHER RESTAURANT

By Usprecher |

The food and the service was incredible. We loved the Mixed Grill which is an Entree that has smaller versions of three separate main courses (Grilled chicken, Rib-eye, and a spare rib on one plate). This place is a must if you are looking for a great kosher dinner in LA

Consistently excellent

By Shlomo B |

Pat's continues to deliver great food, fairly priced and with a terrific atmosphere. The servers are all long-time employees - they know the guests and the menus well - and it always feels like going to your favorite Aunt's home for a meal. Unbeatable.

Excellent

By Michael L |

This restaurant is great! The staff really nice. The food fantastic. I’m very picky when it comes to steaks and they recommended the right one and made it exactly to my specifications. I came a little early but they let me in. I’m from New York that has excellent restaurants but I must say this is high competition. Can’t wait to go again.

Would Be Great Even if It Weren't Kosher

By Leslie B |

We had a wonderful dinner at Pat's last night with friends who keep kosher. We had salad, steak, chicken tajine, and Cornish hen. For dessert we shared a bread pudding. It was delicious and one was big enough for the four of us. Every thing we ordered was wonderful and we didn't feel that we sacrificed anything to eat kosher. It was expensive but worth it. Service was also very attentive but not overbearing. We've eaten here several times and it has always been very good, maybe the best kosher restaurant in LA.

Great

By Peter H |

Kosher and very good, I recommend the salmon, the glacé was outstanding. Way too much food here. Eat until you drop.

FANTASTIC RESTAURANT

By R B |

Great food, friendly and courteous service and good décor. This may be one if not my very best experience at a Kosher restaurant. Servers and staff were friendly and accommodating (there were 8 of us). And food was AMAZING. Prices were very reasonable for what they serve. Food was well presented, decent portions and a wide menu but without getting lost. International Cuisine, so yes Kosher, but not the usual Falafel or Schnitzel stand. Think Chilean sea bass, rib eye, onion soup, duck etc...

Great kosher restaurant

By Deborah M |

I was visiting a friend in LA and we went to Pat's - my LA friends all mentioned that it is one of the best Kosher restaurants in the area. The service was excellent as was the food, and the portions are very generous. We started with the avocado/mango salad which they split on two plates for us and it was a perfect start. For dinner we had the braised lamb shanks and the chicken Milanese and finished off with a chocolate cake. Overall a very nice dinner.

Treating our very Kosher Son and Daughter-in-law

By BeanTownPete |

Pat's is probably one of the top restaurants on the kosher strip of Pico. While one might think to dress business casual given the menu prices, clearly anything goes once you are in there. Restaurant was crowded however we were able to make a reservation that very same day for 7:15 and we were seated at a choice of tables. Menu is varied in terms of Meat and Fish dishes but pricey. They are clearly pitching their prices to match Shiloh's, however, having eaten at both, I'd say Pat's has the edge. Our table went for the BBQ ribs (delicious), The Tuscan Steak (nicely cooked to order sliced steak) and the ceder plank salmon. All dishes were served to order and came with accompanying sides of the day. We finished the meal with their warm Bread pudding which was unique and very enjoyable. We had ordered 2 but we realized one would be enough and the restaurant was OK about our changing that order. One was clearly enough for 4 to share. The only let down at Pat's is their wine list. Nothing,of note so we opted for a just under $30 Weinstock red and it was a pleasant accompaniment to the meal.
