Excellent Diner with Great Food

By Norway_in_Stamford |

January was still a bit chilly so we waited to be seated inside, but that gives you time to watch a nice staff working well together. Eggs and homemade hash for some while i had a great bowl of oatmeal. My son (who is local) says this is a busy place so figure on a long wait on week-ends, but as the saying goes "If the parking lot is full, the food must be good". Their fresh squeezed orange juice is not to be missed; am sure it makes a nice Mimosa of Screwdriver should you be so inclined. They offer gluten free bread choices which is really nice for those who need it and a nice accommodation for those who just want it.

Had a pleasant breakfast at their comfortable outdoor seating

By ForAdventure |

We stopped in for an early midweek breakfast at Paty’s. It wasn’t too busy so we were able to have a leisurely breakfast. The restaurant doesn’t have a lot of parking, but it does have some. Fortunately, we were able to take advantage of that. We had an outside table, which was perfect even on a warm August morning. One of us had a California omelette and the other had a basic bacon and egg breakfast. The server seemed short on personality, but she was efficient. The other wait staff were quite helpful and friendly. The food was good and the prices were in line with a sitdown restaurant. There was also a neat indoor seating area that had a lot of character that perhaps we will try on a future visit. It’s a nice venue for what we needed and would recommend it to others looking for something similar.

Nice breakfast

By jamesmomanddad |

Went here on the morning of our visit to WB studios for breakfast. It was very nice, the place was full and the service was great.

traditional american diner

By Yvonne M |

this is a good go-to place for lunch/brunch - also open for dinner , although I've never been....you can sit in or out on the patio that borders the sidewalk....good basic dependable food, nothing to be sad or excited about - you can't go wrong with American breakfast food - A Toluca Lake staple....for bigger portions/faster service, head down the road to Bob's Big Boy - for more relaxed, leisurely experience, come here....

Great diner

By ExperiencedTravelers |

This is a fairly small place with a very complete menu. We were there for dinner and the food was good. The prices are fair. Service was just O.K. Definitely would go back.

Delicious food

By fluffer73 |

We found many great choices on their menu. I need to eat gluten free and found breakfast options. The gluten free pancakes were delicious. I also had a burger with a gluten free bun. The bun was very tasty and held together unlike most gluten free buns. My husband had their clam chowder and he said it was excellent. We ate 3 meals at this place in a 24 hour period. We will visit again next time we are in the area.

Great Diner for Dinner

By Steveflhtc07 |

While visiting our son in North Hollywood, we tried Paty's in Toluca Lake for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our server Amanda took great care of us and we all enjoyed our food. Our party of 8 enjoyed items ranging from burger and fries, to the chicken parmesan and chicken monterey. In addition, one of our party spotted one of her favorite soap stars, Stefano, who was gracious enough to allow a photo. The atmosphere was great and quite a good value.

Diner California Style

By froggy500 |

Food was mediocre at best. Lots of hollywood types inside talking business. Has parking. Diner style restaurant.

Diner style in Toluca Lake

By David O |

This place is the real deal. The food is fresh, fast and reasonably priced. The salads are massive, the burgers are juicy and their broasted chicken is some of the best fried chicken, ever. Nice outdoor dining options or eat at the counter and talk to Sharon for the most authentic experience.

Can't wait to have breakfast here soon!

By Kubrick's Ghost |

Best breakfast in L.A. and wonderful staff and environment. Don't miss it! Great coffee too and an old school orange juicing machine.

Used to Love Going to this Restaurant no more!

By Sherri B |

I used to go to this restaurant every Sunday (for 20 years) and would make sure I got there before the crowds and ordered breakfast, tipped at least 20 to 25 percent. Then I was so snubbed by the young chick waitress who had to hang out at the counter flirting with all the old men who were old enough to be her grandfathers so she had no time to re-fill coffee or check on any of my needs that I just said screw this. And have been going else where for at least 10 years. Too bad loved to have breakfast outside at 8:30 to 9:00 every Sunday, but will not be made to feel like a burden instead of a customer. Oh well, I sure management didn't care or they would have solved the problem when it took place.

Breakfast

By Steven N |

Patys is one of my favorite breakfast places ever. They keep the small diner charm while keeping their breakfast menu consistently solid. Whenever we have out of town guests...we always take them to Patys at least once.

Great food

By Lori W |

We loved the food. Hubby loved the broasted chicken. Said it was the best he ever had. And we went on Wednesday so it was on special. Atmosphere is nice too. Give it s try.

Good selection, good service

By skiNebraska |

Neighborhood place with seating in and outdoors. California omelet is made everywhere, but they do a good job of it. The Nutella pancakes looked done on the outside, but weren't in the middle. Second ones were great. Reasonable prices.

Much better dives around...

"My" diner

By JanneKH |

You know that place where everything you order arrives like you'd imagine from your own kitchen (if you had the time to actually cook)? Well, that is Paty's. You recognize all the dishes on the menu, you've got great choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is counter top, table top, booth and patio seating. You know its a good place when the fire engine is parked outside and the firemen/women are all seated on the patio.

Just so-so

By Norjeff2 |

Let me start out by saying the staff is super friendly and very attentive. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I had a turkey sandwich with cole slaw and Russian dressing on rye. Pretty hard for that to be dry. It was very dry. Barely any slaw or dressing. Turkey was just okay. For $14 you expect a thicker sandwich. The sandwich had toothpicks in it and I was wondering why because it was not like a club and certainly not thick. The side of fries were undercooked, not crispy and slightly cold. I did not feel like sending them back so that it on me. My son had a chicken sandwich with jalapeños and he though it was pretty good but did not stand out. Perhaps we ordered the wrong things or we just came on the wrong night. Tip: free parking

Toluca Lake Breakfast

By BNW-SoCal |

Patys is an excellent place for breakfast meetings. The food is always good, the service is usually excellent. (Last weekend was only time I've had to ask for coffee refills, they are usually there with the coffee pot before your cup is empty)

Great family diner experience

By nudelmeister |

We went here for a quick dinner after driving from Monterey and were not disappointed. Filling, tasty food for a good price and the manager was very helpful about the ingredients in the dishes. The service was really great, lots of water refills and food came quickly. BLT was humongous.

Retro fun looking at the photos

By TravelingFan22 |

Classic American diner that's been there for years. Take the time to walk along the walls which are lined with signed photos of TV favorites - Laugh-In, High School Musical, and many more. Booths and tables inside, as well as outside seating. Food is classic - steaks, sandwiches (I had a great BLT) and milkshakes. Friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. Worth it to stop in for a meal--breakfast, lunch or dinner!

Consistent

By dougontheroad |

I have had lunch occasionally here that's always been great. Staff are very friendly, service is prompt, food always good. You can be guaranteed whatever you order will be good.

Nice diner with great food

By AlexanderNor |

The food was great, friendly service, good quiet area. We had breakfast and the food arrived quickly and tasted great. Good fresh orange juice. Refills in the coffee.

Eh. Denny's is better.

Love going here

By ruhs1969 |

On average I go here 3 to 4 times a month and many time with friends . I love the staff there very uplifting and professional. The menu is very diverace and many different levels .

Average Breakfast

By Homewardbound12 |

Charming restaurant located near the WB studios. We ate breakfast which was very average; the pancakes were undercooked, bacon was pretty tasty, coffee so so. Our waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed and almost annoyed when we would ask for something. If we go back to the area we would probably check out another place to eat instead.

Very good pancakes

By Hannah K |

The multigrain pancake is nutty and hearty. I paired it with their California omelet, which was undercooked and not very good. Plus they charged me to sub out the bacon because I don't eat meat. Then they charged me for a side of peanut butter for my pancake. I probably wouldn't go back.

Still the Same After Many Years

By Robert L |

If you like to people watch, Patys is a good spot. Inside is just as good as outside. The service is good and the food is good (though a bit over priced). You can depend on a decent meal with goodly portions, no matter what time of day it is.

Definitely give it a try!

By RADARSHE |

Brunch time on a Saturday. Eggs Benedict was very good. Lox & creme cheese on a bagel very good. Tuna salad with avocado great. Pancakes good. Service was very good. Outside seating with water misters were nice. We had a dog as did several others outside. Our server on her own brought a bowl of water for the dog. We'll be back.

Great for lunch

By Shawn4Ever |

With far too many places attempting to be upmarket in Los Angles there is a disappointing lack of diners. Thankfully, Paty's makes up for it if Burbank is your neighborhood (otherwise you might have to keep looking). Located on a corner on Riverside Drive this place looks like it has been there since the 50s (I never actually checked). The waitress did get the order partially wrong, which is why I am not giving 5/5, but the food was good and fairly priced. They offered the usual diner menu though I fancied a sandwich breakfast that day. There are plenty of tables inside and out and the food was served quickly. I'd certainly go back.

Great brunch with outside seating

By Jeannie D |

My friend took me here for the first time for brunch. The omelette was excellent and the gluten free pancake was delicious. The service was good and the outside patio was a nice way to eat our brunch.

Always busy bit I am not sure why.

By kmorris283 |

Service is OK but food is average at best and sometimes not even that good.

Love their breakfasts!

By MontrealCanadian |

Any time I visit Burbank, I love to have breakfast at Paty's in Toluca Lake. I'm keen on old school diners, and this one is loaded with that charm. The Greek Omelette is always tasty and their bread full and wholesome. I noticed on my last trip a fitness menu for those working out, which is a definite plus when trying to eat more healthfully with an added protein boost. Great outdoor seating but I prefer to sit in the booths inside. I love this place!

A long time Favorite

By Lynn D |

OK, Paty's has been around forever. I great place to sit outside and watch the world go by. The food is good. Service is good. Makes you feel like you are on vacation when you go there. Serves breakfast all day, any time....yummy. Close to Studios. Lots of desserts. Tomato soup is so tasty. Fruit offered as a side for those of us who don't want fries.

Great comfort food at reasonable prices

By L P |

We stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around the area. The patio is very comfortable. The menu offers typical "comfort" foods. I had the turkey plate. So good! I'd love to eat there next time we are in Burbank.

good brunch

By Mazaheri L |

good brunch

It had been awhile, and it will be awhile!

By Brian R |

Went yesterday for lunch with some friends. The help was friendly when one could find it. The food wasn't great and the kitchen definitely has some issues with doing things properly. This could be a great place with the proper management and leadership! Yes, you can kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. Like my title says, it had been awhile since I was there prior to yesterday and it will definitely be a long while before I go back. Perhaps, go a block or two east and eat at the Original Bob's Big Boy.

Happy to find a Gluten free diner to enjoy

By Jackie M |

what a great spot.. cute and clean diner, with quite a few tables and areas to sit and eat. being celiac, i find it quite daunting to try and navigate new locations for a safe and good spot to eat.. Patys did not dissapoint. service was good, quick and friendly. I enjoyed a most delicious bacon cheeseburger on a Gluten free bun with a side of cottage cheese as well as a tasty cappuccino I was hoping to go back for breakfast and try out the Gluten free pancakes or waffles, but did not have the chance.. i would fully recommend this location if you are in the area and looking for a nice family spot to eat and are in need of Gluten free.

Can't beat it!

By 413lynd |

As our daughter says, it's the closest thing to a NY Diner in Burbank. Fast, friendly service with Great Food! We had both breakfast (served all day!) and dinner while visiting.

Great diner

By wvvolleymom |

Great service! I asked if the iced tea was sweetened (no) and the waitress came back later to ask how that is made and makes it different. She could not have been nicer and helpful. Food was so good, sometimes on vacation you just want good food and not fancy food. We drove from Santa Ana through evening I-5 traffic to meet a friend from home and it was well worth it!

Old school since 1960

By Creeping_Death_LA |

I took a seat at the counter and asked the waitress what dish was popular, she pointed out the Pan Fry and ordered it with chicken. It looked like a fajita plate which comes with tortillas. I added salsa to give it more flavor and it was very good and fresh tasting. It still needed more flavor or seasoning for my taste but still overall a very good meal. So if you want some good food pass on the nasty corporate ihop and stop by here instead you will be greeted with a smile.

Go there all the time when in LA

By Jane W |

Between their multigrain pancakes and the CA or Greek omelets I really have a hard time venturing out of the breakfast mode no matter what time of the day I go there. But I have gone to eat with others who have let me try their choices and I have to say they have been great as well, salads to sandwiches. You can eat outside and even though some of the seating is right on Riverside drive, it is still very lovely.

Breakfast

By bobjoin13 |

Amazing service and food cute place definitely recommend it. Pictures signed on the wall from all the celebrities that have been there

Great Service - the people make the place

By idrawart |

Don't get me wrong the food is great as well. I love the multi-grain pancakes. Their bacon is delish and they have fresh OJ. They have inside booths and outside table where you can rub elbows with celebs like Eric Mcormick from Will and Grace fame on a beautiful Sunday morning. I've encountered a few hung over party people who had not been home yet as well on a Sunday morning. The cops love it as well. Dog friendly on the patios,(edge). They have stuff for everyone including those watching their waist line. Good for couples or big groups. Check out the pies and GIANT cakes inside and leave room.

A great breakfast to start the day!

By Al-Shumba |

This was a great breakfast with attentive staff who served you politely and efficiently. The menu choices were plentiful and they catered for people with food allergies providing a range of gluten free options. The food was well cooked and presented and reasonably priced.

Badda Bing pancakes!

By HBwavehunter |

Tried this place before going to universal on an early Sunday am before park opened. My son ordered the badda bing pancakes and AWESOME! Great service, yummy breakfast fair. Really enjoyed.

Best Broasted Chicken in L.A.

By Wizard Toby |

I love this place. Their Broasted Chicken special runs about three days out of the week and is one of the best dinner deals I've found in Los Angeles. They also have incredible cakes and pies. The service is excellent. After about the 3rd visit here they recognized me right off and addressed me like an old friend. They have free Wifi and have never rushed me out when I have gone at night to work on my computer or scripts. I have been multiple times and go back often.

Never know who you will see

By ruhs1969 |

The staff and food are great here . close to home and just like at home only they serve you . many other places to see around here but I love this one the most . You never know who you will see here its a place like home and the person around here are famous in many fields but we treat each other like family so we dine peacefully and many time talk to each other as family.

Ihop like environment

By Aleksandar M |

The place was like any dinner of the highway. Food was barely ok and pretty expensive. Would not recommend.

Breakfast Burrito

By Brian_Nelligan |

My wife and I had the breakfast burrito. It was well done. The server, Haley K, was pleasant. The patio was amazing with a bit of street noise but that is why I go out to the patio.

Best place for Breakfast

By Debby F |

I moved away from the area and when my husband and I came back for a visit, we had to go to Paty's for breakfast. Sitting outside in December is a real treat when you are coming from the East Coast. The service is always friendly and you have to try the crispy cornflake French toast. It is out of this world.

Just right ...

By AmeliaAnne1024 |

I like Paty's. It's an LA breakfast hangout near the studios in Burbank. It's filled with characters, you never know who might be there, and the food is good. Enjoy the outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Portions are generous. And you can have a good breakfast for under $15.00. Don't forget to wear your biggest shades, and bring a script.

Reliable breakfast from a neighborhood diner

By DeniseWakeman |

Located in the charming Toluca Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles (near Burbank), Paty's is the go-to place for typical diner fare, done L.A. style. Large portions, friendly service, and indoor/outdoor seating. There's plenty of choice on the menu and you won't be disappointed by whatever you have. Breakfast and lunch are my prime reasons for dining at Paty's when I want comfort food. The California omelet is my fave.. you can't go wrong with bacon and avocado! The coffee is OK, not outstanding, but you get endless refills.

Friendly breakfast spot.

By Shane K |

The food is your average diner fair. The service is friendly. The prices are reasonable. Great low key alternative to the other diner in the area.

Patys Is Perfect For Breakfasts

By Adryan2013 |

Patys has been in Toluca Lake, Burbank, for many years and enjoys loyal patronage for those who live in the area and people who travel many miles to enjoy what the restaurant has to offer. I had a scrumptious omelette made with smoked salmon and scallions, and a side dish of fresh strawberries and blueberries. My partner had eggs benedict with a side of crispy potatoes. Best breakfast we've had in a long time.

Old school american style diner

By Wilis W |

This place has unique ambience, it is an old school american style diner..the food is good..ordered the hot chicken wings and california burger..the burger's patty is really good..tender and juicy..with avocado on top just made it perfect

Incredible Service! Thank You!

By Madge464 |

Lunch on Sunday was wonderful! This place reminds me of an old dinner. It was very clean and neat. Six of us had lunch on Sunday. Huge menu made it hard to decide. I ended up with a great cheeseburger and fries. It was perfect. Our service was great. The burgers come out without sauce. I asked for mayo and relish. She delivered. Everything was fresh and tasty.

LOVE THIS PLACE!!

By LP A |

Been here literally hundreds of times over the past 11 years & I still LOVE this place! The food is all made FRESH and DELICIOUS! Their Ruben is one of the very best ever. The BROASTED chicken is outstanding & is a healthy alternative to fried chicken! Everything g here is truly delicious!!

Good food & service

By Cindy V |

I've eaten at this restaurant on several of my visits to Toluca Lake. Their menu has lots of good, healthy choices and I really enjoy their outdoor seating.

Patty's Cafe Toluca Lake CA

By leebee1002014 |

Service was very slow, got the orders messed up. Chicken dinner was extremely dry and bland. Management started piling up outside seating chairs an hour before closing so that customers had to squeeze between chairs and counter space to get out of the restaurant. For a handicap person it was nearly impossible.

Superb Breakfast

By 123 |

Came here as a family group of 7 from England. Great table. Superb breakfast - the best during our two week stay. The quality of the food was outstanding at a very fair price. Service from Maria the manager and our server Gabe was excellent. Thank you - we will be back when we return.

I Really Like This Place!

By feiden |

Very convenient to the studios (and they offer a discount to employees) and always just right. A very neighborhood feel - and they serve breakfast all day! You can't beat the coffee shop menu, the friendliness of the staff, and the very reasonable prices. If you're around Toluca Lake, I highly recommend Paty's.

Great place for breakfast

Great place for breakfast corn beef hash was great and the know how to cook pouched eggs the omelettes are great as well

Beyond expectations

By Fernando K |

This is a typical dinner with a typical diner menu, but it's more charming than most with a great atmosphere and warm service!

Delicious!!!

By micheleemtp |

Our party had a mixture of breakfast and lunch items. Everything was so good. The oatmeal and toast, the omelets, the sandwiches, all were excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and quick.

A Great Diner for Cali Chicken

By Indi237 |

I really enjoy this place. I've gone on two of three trips to the area. It was convenient to where I was I going and I expected it to feel somewhat nostalgic, which it did. It totally feels like a diner that is older than I am. Both times, I was greeted and seated instantly. I order a domestic beer, which came in a bottle with a chilled mug (for a good price). I ordered the California Chicken sandwich both times because I liked it so much. My buddy had a burger and said it was the best he had had in some time. We had shoestring and steak fries. The waitresses were friendly and constantly hovering. I will be back for sure!

Return customers

By BibbsAndConnie |

Get there before 8:30 or 9:00 to get a good seat on Saturdays. The French toast is always a safe bet with a side of perfect bacon. I ordered the simple breakfast - slightly dry buttermilk pancakes and scrambled eggs. Coffee at Patys is always good. Service was efficient, but not friendly. Good breakfast menu and fast service.

Loved it 30 years ago; still do!!

By 2bears93442 |

I fell in love with Paty's Restaurant in Toluca Lake in the 70's & 80's when I frequented it for great breakfasts. Last night we returned and had a delicious, reasonably priced, American dinner. The freshly ground beef in the grinder was the best I've had in a long time, accompanied by wonderful, large crispy onion rings and great, plentiful sweet potato fries. The salad was equally tasty. And the decor, inside and out, is unchanged--clean, comfortable, mid-20th century San Fernando Valley. It ain't broke--I hope they never fix it.

great lunch

By Thyme8 |

Stumbled upon this place after a Warner Brothers tour. Easy parking. Great food and service. Outside dining. Couldn't ask for anything more!

Good breakfast food

By Traveller1615 |

We stumbled upon Paty's when we were coming out of the UPS store. Their outdoor and indoor seats were almost filled, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. We had a very nice table, the servers were attentive and the coffee, pancakes and bacon were yummy. In speaking with a local resident, she did not have a good opinion of Paty's, but we had a good experience and would go back again if we were in the area.

Great Experience

By Becky L |

We were starving - borderline hangry. After a fun-filled day that ended with a tour of Warner Bros. Studio, we were ready to eat but had not made any plans. We found a couple of places nearby the studio but could not find anywhere to park. Nothing. We circled, We circle again. This area seems to have no parking spots for handicapped people. Suddenly we saw the Patys sign...and a parking lot...with a handicapped spot. We committed and are happy we did. We were very warmly greeted and picked an outside table. The service was excellent and quick - which we needed since we were now ravenous. Our onion rings were some of the best I've had, and the fries on the half and half appetizer plate were also good. I don't remember what my friends had because my Chicken Marsala was the best I have ever had. Our wonderful waitress brought me some extra Marsala "gravy" for my mashed potatoes, and my plate was cleaned of everything but the green beans. I was too full to even touch them. As we left, I saw the desserts. Oh, how I wish I had gotten something to go. I bet their desserts are good. Later i learned one of my friends loves this place. I can see why! Kudos to them...and thanks for having accessible parking!

EAT WELL - AND KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED FOR ACTORS

By Kris W |

A typical coffee shop/diner, wth lots of patio seating (where dogs are welcome!), the food is good, with large portions. No cheap, but they aren't gouging us, either. Right in the heart of Toluca Lake, which teams with actors, thanks to the various studios in the area.

Been going to Patys since the '60s

By Laurie F |

Great, vintage restaurant. My parents started going there when I was about 5 years old (and I'm 64 now-yikes!). Just quality cookin'. Lots of outdoor seating. My and my husbands favorite is the "broasted chicken". Takes about 20 minutes to make so factor that in ;} Yum!!

Great find

By Lee_Can08 |

Found this place by chance, great vibe, easy parking and great food. Worth a visit for anyone in this next of the woods. The local fire station eat here so if you're lucky you'll get to see the fire truck pull up outside.

Decent breakfast scrambles

By Alex J |

It was a mellow morning at Patys, and breakfast was really decent. As far as diner food goes, it's much better than normal, and the restaurant is a charming throwback.

Great restaurant in Toluca Lake

By Rich W |

This place is great! We discovered it two years ago on a trip to Californina and couldn't wait to go there again when we returned to burbank area this year. The service is fast and friendly and the prices are reasonable for the area. Best of all the food is fantastic. We like it best for breakfast, especially the cinnamon french toast. But all the other meals we had were ecellent as well. The salads were so fresh it was as if they had just harvested the ingredients minutes before. The last time we ate there on this trip we drove an hour through traffic from El Segundo just to eat there one more time.

POPULAR BUSY PLACE

By Linda-wanderer |

This restaurant is actually in nearby Toluca Lake - not LA. Very popular; you order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. Has indoor and outdoor covered seating. Great bagel with lox and cream cheese (and the works). Good service, reasonable prices for the LA area.

Not a great experience

By JillyDundee |

Went here for breakfast with friends as they live close by. From the outside it looks retro and cool. We sat outside which was a big mistake, being so close to the main street proved a problem as it was so noisy with traffic. Menu was the usual breakfast items you'd expect but the food was nothing to write home about. Service poor and slow. There are lots of other nicer places to eat in the area so I wouldn't bother going back.

Simple, tasty food

By Jedimindtricks |

I came here for a late dinner with friends in September and I loved it! I had a tuna salad sandwich, my friend had a chicken and something sandwich (can't remember exactly) and my other friend had a chicken and bacon salad. All very simple food, yet really delicious - the quality of the ingredients used was spot on - the meat, tuna, salad etc was really fresh - and huge portions too. It was exactly what I expected from an American diner and I will be visiting again next year when I come back to Cali :-)

good as anywhere else

By Chuck S |

ate here twice in 2 days. The food was good but not a large menu. Ate outside on a beautiful day. The staff was nice and have no complaints. If you are in the area and are hungry stop in for a bite.

Good for a Diner

By GigemAggie |

Stopped in here for breakfast this morning per a recommendation from a friend. Normally, I tend to stay away from diners as I generally don't find the food to be all that good. Patys had a larger menu selection for breakfast than I was expecting and I decided to go with the cinnamon swirl french toast with eggs and bacon and a cup of coffee. Food came out quickly and I enjoyed my breakfast. At first, I was a little disappointed that it was basically one piece of bread (albeit thick) for the french toast, but I didn't walk away hungry. The place offers both indoor and outdoor seating and has free WiFi, although it's secured so you have to ask your waiter/waitress for the password. Would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area.

Kosher food

By Bhelaky |

This place is the famous Hollywood eatery. We enjoyed it as a family. Clean and the staff were super glad you were there. My husband rates the food higher then me. Maybe cuz it's kosher. But I'd say it's pretty good. My tilapia was real good.

A bit of a wait and typical diner food

By Deana M |

A bit of a wait but they have an extensive menu so there's something for everyone, whether you're gluten-free or not, etc. Typical diner food that you can expect but portions are generous.

Fun Find !!

By George1142 |

relaxing environment with friendly wait staff.. Enjoy the broad menu... Try the meatloaf sandwich !!!!

Good cakes and pies

By Koda |

Sat outside on a nice day for lunch. Food is okay though the desserts are very good. Service is fine too. I just wish the menu had more options.

Great Bkfst!

Met friends who live in the area while visiting our daughter in Glendale. Nice vibe, and great food.

Most popular place in town.

By Richard S |

This place packs them in for lunch during the week and you may have to wait to be seated and it's the same for breakfast on weekends. The place is that popular.

Paty O Paty

By Malcolm B |

Always a pleasure to visit Paty's. Food is good, service is good, prices are good. I know I said good, but realyy is great place.

The cakes !!!

By PaulBelyndaJosh |

Paty's restaurant is a fantastic place to eat in Burbank, the food and service is fantastic , it's also licensed which is great. But if you have room you must try their cakes ! We actually didn't have room and took a slice of the carrot cake and an enormous hunk of coconut cream pie ( just like Gilligan's) back to our hotel, they were amazing. If your in Burbank do yourself a favour and check this place out !!

-Gone to their head and your wallet

By OutyAbouty |

Addendum to my previous review in June 2018: -Prices here have almost doubled, so no longer any type of value. Favs were removed from menu including amazing Monte Christo :( There are many other choices at this selection and price point! Meh, keep on truckin'...

Breakfast

By Juliet L |

We found Patys on the web and were impressed enough by the menu to try it for breakfast. Great food and good service. Very busy with seating inside and out.

Delicious breakfast!

By Hippely |

Typical American diner menu, but everything is very good, reasonably priced and portions are generous. Service was courteous and prompt. The patio is pleasant. Great place to go for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Very extensive menu with breakfast (served all day), burgers, sandwiches, pasta & main meals. Two of us are gluten free & there was almost too much choice. Sandwiches were big with plenty of fries & a good sized portion of pasta. Service was quick & really friendly, we sat inside but there were lots of tables outside. Small car park behind which was much easier than trying to park on the street,

I don't know why this place is so popular

By Maggie B |

The service is only so-so, the food is OK but nothing special. But this place is always busy, so it may just not be a good fit for me...

This visit was awful.

By Daniel H |

While Paty's is typically pretty good, this visit was pretty bad. My food was cold. We received the wrong orders and items were missing. Seems like a bad day as the busboy dropped a bunch of glasses out on the patio then one of the umbrellas took off next to us almost spearing a neighboring table. Oh the best part is the back part of my buddies chair broke and he almost fell over. I don't think I will go back.

enjoy sitting outside on the patio. Casual comfort food. Good place to people watch and catch up with friends.

OKAY

By Marla U |

This place is OK, reminds me of Diner food. I didn't know what to expect, it had been recommended as a landmark in the area. I had a Tuna Melt, and I have had better. I also splurged with a Black and White Milkshake and Again I have had better. I should of gotten my Milk Shake at Bob's Big Boy. There was a wait, not bad. The service was just ok. I probably would not go back.

Good diner!

By DeborahandAndy |

Great service for an early dinner before going to the Falcon Theatre. Old fashion comfort food- salads, clam chowder, turkey and mashed potatoes etc. Excellent variety of pies and enjoyed by all 8 of us.

Is a pretty standard diner. Still, I go there kind of often. It's quick and easy. Plus there's patio seating.

Perfect Breakfast.....

By ChikaLadybug |

Nice place to eat (breakfast, that is). They have outdoor, indoor or bar seating. Service is good and I ordered from the FIT menu - created my own omlet and it was yummy but not filling. You gotta get the OJ because it squeezed fresh! You may catch a movie director or and author there....keep a look ou!

Great food, terrible service

By TownDestroyer |

I've gone here from time to time since I was a kid and I can definitely say that the service sure has gone down hill over the years. I ordered a meal that came with soup, but the waiter didn't have a soup spoon to give me because all of the soup spoons were in the dishwasher. There were only a few people in the restaurant so if there was no clean silverware, then management was definitely out to lunch. The waiter told me that he would bring me a soup spoon as soon as the dishes were washed. After waiting about ten minutes, I realized that my soup was going to be cold if I didn't start eating. I gave up waiting and grabbed the regular spoon next to the fork and knife and starting eating the soup. At the same time I started eating the soup, my meal arrived. The soup spoon never arrived. If a waiter tells a customer that he is going to do something, then he needs to honor his statement. Hopefully Paty's gets some new management. Paty's is one of the iconic original mom and pop restaurants in Los Angeles and I would like it restored to its glory.

Paty's gives local flavor

By WorldTravelerSoCal |

Went to Paty's in Burbank for breakfast on Sunday morning. Got there early and not really crowded. Had the pancakes and eggs and was fine. Fresh and well cooked. Friendly service although at that time, nobody was in a rush including the waitress. That was ok because we met other family members there and they came a little late. Overall may deserve another visit if I am in the area.

Nice lunch

Stopped in here to try Paty’s for lunch. We got the BLTA and the Protein Platter. Both were really good and our server Samuel was super!!! Will go again. Great outdoor seating and parking lot.

What a fun place!

Excellent food in an unpretentious diner atmosphere. We were with friends who knew the area, and this is their favorite breakfast place there. Loved it!

Bad Service, Cold Food

By TeemareeDotCom |

I really wanted to like this place. There are always a lot of people there and it is near my home. Unfortunately, the only good thing about this place is the atmosphere. I told our waitress it was our first time there and no suggestions were offered. Instead we needed to trackk her down to take our order (she wanted to give us time.) After ordering, we were asked to move to another table so that a larger group could sit where we were. We did move although I feel that being asked to do so was in poor taste and planing on the staff's side. Lastly, my order of 2 eggs, english muffin, with bacon and hash browns well done came out cold as did mu husband's food. When we got the food back, it was still not hot. After all of this, we still ended up paying the full price of over 30 dollars for two diner style breakfasts which could have been executed better at a true diner. Since I've only been there once I am not sure if this was a fluke although I must say that I won't be going back to find out.

You must go

Delicious I loved it. Affordable prices, ocean view, comfortable, parking, fresh. Seafood and food, Mexican, pasta, all very delicious.

Good food and great service

By PalmDeano |

Friends took us here for breakfast. It was our first visit as we do not live in the LA area. The food was great, the service also great, and the atmosphere fine. It obviously is a very popular restaurant. The breakfast was more than filling and the food very fresh. Couldn't ask for more.

Had lunch today at Patys with friends. Really good food friendly service and great outdoor seating area. Compliments to management on how clean and organised the restaurant is.

Average Food Wonderful Service

By Ninachka1 |

My son and I were driving through Burbank last night and were thinking of getting something to eat. Having trouble deciding until we drove by Paty's. My son stated that it was Friday and every place had clam chowder and that is what he wanted. So, he made a U-turn and we went to Paty's. First of all, the service was great. We were seated right away and were offered beverages immediatley. When we tried to order clam chowder, we were told they were out. On a Friday? So, we had chicken noodle, which was pretty good. My son ordered the chicken fried steak (think that's what it was) with mashed potatoes and gravey. He loved it. I ordered the meatloaf with a baked potato. The food came out quickly. What I don't understand is why we weren't offered bread or rolls. So, I asked for some. I was quickly brought a warm roll with butter. It had been nuked and the bottom was so hard I couldn't bite through it. The meatloaf was sort of mushy. No substance to it, sliced pretty thin. The gravy was okay because it wasn't overly salted. My son also liked his gravy. Overall, it was a good experience because of the wonderful service. I don't think I would go back for dinner, though I might try it for breakfast. It is an interesting place, with movie pictures all over the place. I was sitting next to a photo of Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh taking a break from filming Gone With The Wind, one of my favorite movies....

Crowded but Worth The Wait

By TRTW |

Whenever we want to eat breakfast, Paty's is usually our first choice because of its location. It's just close to the hotel we're staying and my brother's place. Everytime I go here I order an omellete made to my request. It's delicious and hearty. I also like the fresh orange juice (a must). I don't know the exact time to go to the restaurant to avoid the wait. But everytime I go I have to wait. The longest was the last one. We had six in our party and had to wait a good 20 minutes. It was worth it still. The service was friendly. They did not bring all the food at the same time. Two people from my party had to wait five minutes longer. Again, they were busy. Note: sometimes you'll see a familiar face or two. Thought that was nice. Makes me think this place is enjoyed/trusted by those working in the studios.

Great service, nice to come back.

By tmgreen777 |

We lived in the area about 25 years ago, and Paty's was one of the places we always looked forward to eating when we visited. This was a great place to have Saturday morning breakfast outside. Yes, it was cool and crisp thanks to the recent rain, but the food and service by Ashley made the time enjoyable. It was after 9 am when we got there, and there was a fair amount of room inside or out. Another 10 minutes, and we would have been waiting a half hour or so. My eggs, sausage and buttermilk pancakes were the best too. Finishing all but one pancake, I did not need another meal until 4 in the afternoon. My wife had bacon and whole grain pancakes with her eggs. While everything was delicious, the whole grain pancakes were a little "heavier" than she expected and she was jealous of my buttermilk pancakes. Ashley kept our coffee filled whenever we wanted more, and made sure we were enjoying our meal. Looking forward to returning.

An Old Friend

By Jason P |

Back in LA on biz.. I used to live in the valley and Paty's is a local favorite. The food hasn't changed and it's as tasty as I remembered. Breakfast is my personal favorite here, even though there lunch and dinner options rock too! Enjoy!!

Great Food, Great location, what’s not to love?

By The Phil Factor |

We had a group of five and we were seated quickly during the lunch rush on a Friday. Both breakfast and lunch/dinner food was available. Great sandwiches and more importantly great wings, and that’s saying something coming from a guy from Buffalo. We had sandwiches and salads and all were excellent. Healthy portions and moderate prices combined with excellent service. If it’s a hot sunny day, don’t fear sitting outside. There are plenty of tables with large umbrella coverage as well as the cooling mist sprayed from the eaves of the roof. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would return again.

Patys is the place!

By hipbrands |

great place to meet friends for a quality breakfast, lunch or dinner.dont be surprised if you see a movie or TV star or tow while visiting Paty's

Great breakfast all day long!

By Bob J |

Greeted warmly. Fine service. Exceptionally clean diner-type restaurant with lots of choices. I chose the California omelet which was wonderful -- perfectly cooked and very tasty. Side of dark wheat toast was not your typical restaurant toast, but hearty. Hash browns crispy on the outside and not greasy. Reasonable price for LA-area.

A nice place to eat with zero pretension.

I'd certainly go back

Classic Diner - the real deal

Had breakfast here twice in a row - it was that good and simple. Hotel didn't serve breakfast and recommended this place. It was ideal. Humble. Simple. Classic California architecture. Excellent experience.

Lunch Is Served

By Daniel F |

Okay, Patys has been around a very long time here in this corner of the Valley in the heart of Toluca Lake. It is what a diner is all about. It has everything you want from sandwiches to their own fried chicken and breakfast all day long. The bonus, the secret, if you like cake, is their cakes and specifically the coconut cake. Incredible. Prices are average to slightly below average for Los Angeles. A meal, a beverage will average $15. Parking is behind the building and again for LA it is a large lot plenty of parking but be aware that it shares the lot with Trader Joe overflow parking which can be a problem depending upon the time of day. This is a celeb hang out for Toluca Lake for those that star watch. Incredible, good food, great service, a treasure for all of LA.

SLOW SERVICE

By Dawn H |

Ya know, with all the great places to eat in the Burbank/Toluca lake area, you shouldn't have to eat at a place that has poor customer service and the owner/managers don't even care that they hired bad staff. :( What a disappointment this place was. :( Oh..... and don't bother asking for any mayo for your burger because you won't get it no matter how many times you ask. AVOID THIS PLACE. I can go on and give you all the details but I am still upset at how we were ignored that I just don't want to write any more than I have to about the place.

Nothing special

By Elle_Glamour |

My fiancee and I were searching for a new diner to enjoy on our Sunday. He found the website for a place called Paty's, so we gave it a shot this afternoon. The fiancee was not too impressed with his chicken meal, as he wasn't expecting fried chicken, but something akin to Boston Market chicken. The fries served with his dish had been sitting for a while, and the coleslaw lacked vinegar. I, on the other hand, ordered breakfast and went with the California omelet. This came with potatoes and a pancake. The pancake was normal, nothing special. The home fries were good, and the omelet was nothing to write home about. I didn't feel my meal was worth $10, and his, definitely not worth $11. Pretty standard place, probably will not visit again. To the next diner we'll go.

Solid meal, but somehow they removed the fun

By bppiatek |

We stopped for a quick bite at dinner time at this Valley diner but probably won't be back. The food was ok, but a little low on flavor. It's like they tried to make it good with solid ingredients but then removed the joy from the food. All the food was well prepared and plated attractively. Perhaps it was the rather austere decoration. Johnny, our waiter, was really quite good, attentive, knew the menu well and was kind enough to check on a food allergy. Our visit was simply not outstanding or even memorable.

Great Breakfast all day!

We walked from our hotel 3 times for breakfast with our group. The OJ is freshly squeezed. There is so much to choose from on the gigantic menu! Go for it! We loved it!

Good quality diner food, the way it should be

By Simon C |

Ate here twice to be sure it was good quality 'diner food', prepared and priced the way it should be. I imagine it takes quite a lot of skill to run a ' high customer turnover' place like this, and from my two experiences, they know what they are doing.

Good Place for Lunch

By Richard M |

This place has a nice menu selection and the prices are reasonable for the LA area. Portions are generous so you might even consider sharing with your lunch partner. I think the outside dining is the preferred location. Try the Chili Size meal... it's really good.

Great Breakfast

By francesvk |

We stay in Burbank whenever we come to visit family and friends and Paty's is our favorite for breakfast. The menu has good choices. The service is very good and the waitstaff really hustle. On weekends and after certain hours, it becomes very busy and there usually is a wait time so we try to avoid that hectic period. Dogs are allowed on the outside patio. The breakfast food is very good.

A simple place and simply delicious

By Kyle V |

I love eating here every time I'm In LA. A great menu and love the eggs benedict, Sandwiches are good and service is outstanding. Sometimes it is tough to park, however once inside you forget about it.

Great brunch options

By Patty D |

Initially came here as it looked homely and loved the name. What a great relaxed venue, We ordered pancakes, ranchos huervos breakfast eggs, Reuben sandwich. Big portions, great service and delicious food. Was too full to eat some of their famous cakes and pies, definitely worth a trip back to try more of the menu.

Top marks, excellent classic American diner

By Paulaustin |

Americans know how to do breakfast and Patsy's is one of the best diners I've visited. First class choice, quality and service, plus fantastic value. If you are in Burbank make sure you visit at least once.

Best local restaurant

We love this place! Great food, friendly service, good family meals! They have TVs if you want to catch a game/news. Their coffee is my favorite!

Old school diner

By kp1128 |

I had a couple of hours to kill before watching a show taping at Warner Brothers so I stopped in this place. It's right up the road from Warner Brothers. This was an old school diner. Dirty but good, reasonably priced food. I will go back.

Always Return When in the Area

By RuNanS |

We like this café for its unpretentious comfort food, nicely prepared and served with kind attention. And you do see actors now and then, so that's a bit of a bonus. Keep your cool, though, and let them enjoy their own meal.

Pleasant surroundings, good food

By SFO45 |

We ate lunch outside on the terrace at Paty's in Toluca Lake. The restaurant is a fixture here. I actually found the food (a Greek salad) to be okay, but actually nothing special. Other people at our table had BLTs, and they looked good. I had an iced coffee, but again, nothing to distinguish it.

Bland Bland Bland

By OberurselFoodie |

We were really excited to eat at Paty's. Any place in LA that has been open for nearly 55 years must be doing something right. But that's the thing, on this visit they didn't get a whole lot right. My omelet with turkey sausage and jack cheese was so flavorless. The hash browns were mushy and lacked crisp. There was no flavor whatsoever to my meal. My wife had the breakfast sandwich. It was a soggy, bland mess. It was a rather u eventful meal and for the prices they charge, it should be eventful.

Quick service, good food and reasonable prices

By sflaherty |

My friend and I, along with our rowdy toddlers, enjoyed a mid-morning breakfast here. We sat out on the patio so our children wouldn't disrupt too many other diners. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure our kids had crayons and children's menus to keep them occupied before the food arrived. The food was good but not much different than standard diner fare - just a bit pricier. The restaurant has a great vibe and is family friendly.

Fun diner. And, you can...

By Dru M |

Fun diner. And, you can sit on the patio and watch the scene outside.

Downgraded to just average

By JanneKH |

It is with reluctance that i am downgrading Paty's to just average. For years this was favorite local haunt for brunch after a workout. It is hard too put a finger on what has slipped but it is no longer that great neighborhood hangout you look for recommendations about on Trip Advisor. The menu is extensive, the service still good, but some part of the "magic" about the food is missing.
