My husband and I were looking for some Italian food the night we arrived in SFO. We decided to try Piazza since it was close and the reviews were good. We didn't have a reservation but we were seated right away. That was nice. The food however was not as good as the reviews led us to believe. My husband ordered a Cesar salad, which was a plate of silty lettuce and dressing that had no taste. I ordered a Caprese salad, which was OK. For entree, Hubby ordered the lasagna, the was so hot he couldn't eat for another 10 minutes. I had the spinach ravioli which was good. Hubby, said the lasagna was OK. The restaurant was pretty busy and the location is good, but for the money (it's pricey) it was not worth it. We should have taken the 10 extra minutes and headed over to North Beach.

Had dinner here with a group of 7. We allowed the restaurant to order for us and the food was solid but not spectacular. Service was friendly and very good!

Okay, so I've never been to Florence, but I can only imagine that the food could not be better than Pazzia. This is not a place to hop in, get your food and get out. Everything is made fresh to order with the highest quality. Even though they will soon be expanding, reservations are an absolute must. The red sauce was bright like fresh tomatoes, and tasted that way. Paired with HUGE Gnocchi, it was heaven. Entirely different was a Funghi cream sauce, rich with flavor, that was excellent with little pasta packets of yummy goodness called tortOloni. We didn't have room for the secondi, but wish we did after seeing a perfectly done lamb chop that would make Fred Flintstone proud. Great food prepared to order takes time and doesn't come out of a pot on the stove. Pazzia serves great food! They have a wonderful and friendly service staff that is always moving, and the ever present owner is gracious and warm. An extensive selection of wines too, mostly Italian. Finish with a tiramisu that you most definitely SHOULD NOT PASS UP. If you can't make it to Florence for dinner, make a reservation at Pazzia. Incredible!

Italy in the middle of San Francisco! That is what Reataurant Pazzia is. Our family ate here at august 16th, as a final dinner on our three weeks trip to westcoast USA. We have been in Italy so often, and Pazzia is all that Italy can offer: good food, good wine, good athmosphere and good service! We loved eating here, after having eaten burgers etc. Perfect spot, place to be! Maybe bit high price, but in relation to other restaurants we have visited in States, We thi k it is worth every single dime!

The service and team were professional/friendly and the food was yummy! We all tried different things and it was all tasty. The coolest part is one person in our party was working on learning Italian and the staff encouraged it. Thanks for making this a memorable experience

Early dinner for three was a delight! The service was outstanding as was the food. Pasta, carpaccio, veal, Caesar salad and Pinot Grigio all delicious. Highly recommend and hope to visit again soon along with the new wines sampled tonight.

Pazzia exudes the sort of energy and effort to please that makes you instantly want the place to succeed. It all seems to be working, because the place was packed during our visit. Service is friendly, informal and efficient. As to food, however, most things fell a little short of excellent. Salads were generous but perfunctory and not too interesting. Pasta dishes were good, but far from great. Only the gorgonzola pizza received rave reviews. On the plus side, the wine list is interesting and varied for a place this size and the server clearly knew the list well enough to help with your choices. This is a fun place for a meal, with reasonable prices, a good wine list and a nice staff. Give it a try.

This place has amazing food at a very reasonable rate. I highly recommend the lasagna and tiramisu for dessert.

Had our first opportunity to try Pazzia last night with friends, after finding the place online searching for "pizza near Moscone Center". It looked interesting, so we decided to give the place a try, and we were very glad we did. It is a small place, just a couple of blocks from Moscone. We were greeted at the door, welcomed and immediately shown to our window table. The menu offers about a dozen special pizzas, a number of pasta dishes, salads -- traditional Italian fare. Our friends split a Caesar Salad (with strips of anchovies draped across the top) and said it was delicious, with special praise for the housemade croutons. My son and I shared a cold beet salad, with goat cheese, arugula and candied walnuts, and it was really good. Not a huge portion, perfect to split to start the meal. We ordered and shared two identical pizzas, which are thin crust, with the right amount of char to add that delightful flavor I love. Our pizza (can't recall the name) was lightly sauced (with a real sauce -- made from whole tomatoes, not tomato sauce ...one could see the seeds and taste the difference -- and cheesed, with mushrooms, sausage, prosciutto and whole olives. It was VERY good. My wife ordered gnocchi, and loved it. The sauce, again, was made using whole Italian tomatoes, with fresh basil, and it had a superb balance of acid and sweet. The pasta itself was large, but definitely not the dense, chewing blobs of dough found at many places. They were perfect...delicious, full of flavor and perfectly cooked. We didn't have dessert. The service was prompt, efficient and pleasant, the atmosphere intimate and casual and the staff hustling, willing to make recommendations and eager to please. The beer selection is limited -- just three Italian beers -- as is the wine list, but the food is so good, who cares? The only negative we found, was that to get to the restroom, you have to walk through the kitchen. This is actually fun, but the restroom itself needs some TLC. A very noisy fan, broken tile and general ugly decor seemed at odds with the general vibe of the place. And with only one restroom, I got to watch old food being scrapped of plates, as I had to stand next to the garbage can while I waited my turn. They can do better, I am sure. But the long and short of it is that Pazzia puts out some seriously yummy food, and is well worth the visit if you're in the area.

The family-run style and friendly service made me feel like I was back visiting Italy - very authentic, the fritto misto is to die for, and had great pizzas and wine as well.

We came here with 6 others family members for a celebration. It's a small space but they accommodate us. This is your basic no frill but great Italian restaurant. The service is also good. We would return and recommend this place to others.

We went here on a recommendation and weren’t disappointed. Good choices for vegetarians as well as carnivores. I had the Margarita pizza - not very adventurous but I’d just landed after an 11 hour flight and wanted something simple. It was like all good Italian food: simple, fresh ingredients, freshly prepared and cooked properly.

Was recommended this place by a friend recently. Good authentic Italian food for a very reasonable price. As mentioned by other reviewers, the restaurant is rather small so either come early or make a reservation to avoid being disappointed. Would definitely be back here again soon.

Really enjoyed a visit here with our niece, who comes often. The small space is sharp, sort of a modern style. But the food is the reason to go. Special pasta was a Pappardelle with stewed lamb. Very good. Lasagna was also great -- a little different from traditional red sauce, with a little cream sauce mixed in. Strong wine list, and short Italian beer list. The staff is all Italian, and very friendly. Looked like a lot of regulars on the Friday night we were there, and everyone was happy.

We met my sister-in-law in SF and had dinner here. The service was good but each of us had the same comment; the pasta was flavorless. We each had different pastas. Perhaps it was a bad night. Don’t know but don’t need to return.

We saw that Pazzia caffe was one of the highest rated restaurants in San Francisco, so we went to enjoy a dinner From the warm greeting when we entered, to the cheerful and very efficient waitress, to the excellent food and desert, the experience was among the best we have encountered. My dining partner opted for the veal in a lemon cream sauce, which he declared to be done perfectly. I opted for chicken Marsala, equally well done! The molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream desert special capped off a wonderful dining experience

We had an OK dinner here on a Friday night. I had fresh pasta with a lamb sugo. Pasta was slightly overcooked and sugo had no taste of lamb. My wife's lasagna was better. While the dinner was OK the ambience was awful. There was a table right in the middle of the restaurant with about 10 young folks who thought they were the only people there; the noise was deafening and killed any possibility of conversation. After they left the owner apologized and gave us a wonderful large serving of tiramisu to share. It may have the best I have had. I would go back, but only after checking out whether there is an irresponsible large group who may have had a tad too much vino.

Delicious meal, attentive service. The restaurant does get loud when it fills up. We ordered the pizza, and two pasta dishes. Everything was excellent.

Been here several times. This time I took my 2 boys, 11 & 9. We had the calamari, gniochhi & Margarita pizza. It’s all 100% legit and honestly, the best. The owner Massimo is super cool & friendly. Chill vibe and not fancy. Highly recommended!

Good food, friendly service and festive atmosphere, we are coming back with 7 people next week to try out more of the dishes that looked enticing

Friendly and accommodating, the place is fresh and clean. The food good and the portions large. Small - make reservations.

Went for dinner on Apri 13 2016 but the building was closed up and front window was covered in paper so it looks like its permanent or under renovation.

My wife and I dined here and we both felt that the food and service was great. The servers and manager were friendly and professional. I have been in the restaurant business for over 30 years and our server was one of the best I've ever had. We had a drink and then split four courses. All were exceptional, but the homemade pasta and tiramisu were outstanding. The pizza and caprese salad were also very good. All this for 75$ including tax in San Francisco! Forget about it! One warning the restaurant is very plain with an open kitchen.

i love the food in this restaurant! the service was fast it's clean There is a lot of choice everything is homemade nothing To add, just go there!

I ate here with a friend last night. The line of patrons waiting was long, but we got seated quickly. The venue is small and intimate; perhaps accommodating only about 20 tables. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Upon exiting the restaurant, the owner came over and extended his hand as a sign of gratitude for us visiting his establishment. That gesture was very memorable and will guarantee that I recommend his restaurant to others.

We went there to have pizza and beer. We ordered 1 pizza and 6 beers. The service was horrible, very rude server . Not even said hi, suggest, and after one hour the approach ya and said that we had to order more food or other wise leave ....

Very friendly owners serving good food in a very casual setting... Kids friendly, location is downtown, so if you are in the area I recommend this place.

And I need this place where I live. And every other place I visit. Truly a gem among gems. Small, intimate storefront with both indoor and a few outdoor tables. Serving real homemade Italian food. Two for dinner. Carpaccio to start - perfectly sliced meat, a little cheese and capers for flavor. Pizza Margherita for my guest, Gnocchi for me (full disclosure - I am a sucker for anything gnocchi). Served fresh, hot and just the right serving size. No dessert, just a couple of iced cappucinnos. Yum! And this is one place where you walk in and you are instant family. Everyone is talking with everyone else, celebrated a few birthdays, and made an instant friend with the owner. Outside of a few family cafes on my last trip to Italy, Pazzia is the real deal. Make sure you find this place. And welcome to the family.

This was excellent. Great atmosphere. The food was so good. Daughter had spaghetti and it was good. Husband and I split mussel appetizer and a pizza. It was excellent!!!! Highly recommend reservations for the weekend. Will definitely go back.

We entertained a customer at this small Italian restaurant near the Moscone Center. Housemaid pastas, fresh bread and authentic sauces. The owner and servers were excellent, however it was a bit of a slow start as I think they were overwhelmed with the Oracle Open World crowd. They did a nice job and the food was very good. We enjoyed the ravioli and lasagna. Definitely worth a visit.

Excellent food and service. Recommended by hotel we stayed at, the Marriott. Si glad we went with friends

What a fantastic dinner to start our week-long vacation in SF. This restaurant was recommended by the concierge at the Ritz Carlton Club and Residences where we are staying. Everything about this place is first rate. To start with we received a proper greeting and our table was ready for us. It appears to be a popular place (not too big) so reservations are advised (not really sure of the policy on this). We chatted with the owner and manager throughout the meal. They are both from Italy. We started with a special appetizer that was delicious. It was a pizza with a base of piordilatte mozzarella, thinly roasted potatoes, italian pancetta and homemade sauce. My wife then had ravioli suffed with spinich and ricotta cheese and I had pappardelle which was past with the best homemade bolognese sauce ragu. We had no room for dessert. The price is very fair and moderate. Dress is casual. This restaurant is so good that we will probably go again before our departure in a few days. We are from the DC area and we cannot find quality, nicely-priced and true Italian food like this anywhere near us. The highest recommendation!!

Pazzia Caffe and Trattoria is a little Florence Italy gem in the heart of San Francisco. The food and everything about this place is real authentic Italian. I felt like I was sitting in Florence eating a nice meal. The wait staff were very friendly are actual Italians and so is the owner. Definitely a must visit place if you are in the area and the price is very reasonable I will definitely return the next time I am in the area. Kudos to the staff and owner and thank you for bringing a little piece of Italy to the US.

Creative, fresh Italian food in Soma with great service. Jacopo and girlfriend Julia we're so friendly, welcoming and fun. Our kids tried their best Italian phrases with Jacopo. He talked and joked with us, and hugged the kids on the way out. It was an amazing experience on top of incredibly prepared food. A night we'll remember in SF....

On a fairly busy block of Third Street lives Pazzia Restaurant & Pizzeria, a casual, yet charming, Italian restaurant. The decor of the dining room is nothing to write home about, but one does not go to Pazzia to be in awe of the art on the walls; one goes to experience some artful Italian home cooking. The rich, fresh burrata and proscuitto appetizer was worth the extra calories and, cooked perfectly al dente, the clam pasta was delicious. With just the right amount of char on the crust, the huge thin crust fungi and sausage pizza was topped generously, but was quite soggy in the center, making it difficult to eat. The rigatoni with meat balls was rich, tender, and zesty--definitely a dish to take the chill off a summer night in The City. Desserts include an uber-creamy tiramisu (yum), and a carmel flan (meh). The small, but adequate, wine list is fairly priced for San Francisco. Do not expect trophy bottles, but rather some rather pedestrian suggestions that nonetheless complement the food. The owner, Massimo, and the wait staff were friendly and attentive. A downside was that the restroom is located in the kitchen area. Hopefully with the planned remodel and expansion this ill will be cured. If you need a fix of Italian food and can't get to North Beach, Pazzia Restaurant & Pizzeria has you covered.

Love this restaurant. Was working in San Francisco last year and the hotel recommended it. We couldn’t wait to return when our convention was here again. The owners and the entire staff couldn’t be nicer or more accommodating. And the food is so delicious and very authentic. Everything we’ve tried has been superb. We went for dinner and lunch this trip!

Pasta was excellent but all food looked delicious. Our waiter Rocko had great recommendations. All the staff were great. Had a very enjoyable meal. Did not have to wait for reservations but that will change when others find this hidden gem.

The noise was deafening to begin with but we were happy with the food. The shrimp and calamari appetizer was delicious but the veggie plate was nothing special and they forgot the bruschetta we ordered. The pastas were al dente and sauces were fresh and simple. After dinner the noise level sky rocketed. We asked the owner nicely if it could be ratcheted down a little but he basically said no and told us to go elsewhere if we didn't like it. We will never go back.

After searching high and low for some good eats, we stumbled across this quaint Italian restaurant. We ordered freshly made pasta with meat sauce, margarita pizza, and capri salad. The food was wonderfully cooked and the wait staff, whom were all from Italy, were an absolute trip to converse with- even the owner ( true Italian) made conversation with us and made us feel welcome. We paid under $50-We will be back!

The food and the team were amazing! Worth finding the place and going. Don t miss the lasagna and Italian pizza!

This is a small family run restaurant. The atmosphere is simple and the menu is not huge, but the food and service are very good! Everything is freshly made. The homemade pastas are outstanding. The owner came over to chat with us and, even, served us a tiaramisu as a 'thank you' for coming. If you are into simple, good and friendly this is the place for you.

Really, really good pizza. I had the diavola but others looked equally good. And the benchmark tiramisu was excellent too.

We wanted somewhere causal but good, and within walking distance of our hotel at 4th and Market. This was a wonderful find. I would highly recommend reservations as the seating is limited and there was a line there when we went. The ambience is Spartan but the food and service were excellent. We kept it simple with Caesar salad, spicy Italian sausage pizza and a very good bottle of Chianti. Their pizza was the best! This is not a restaurant that will "impress" your new friend or Match.com date, but with great food, wine and service you really can't ask for more. I would highly recommend giving this one a try.

What a wonderful place to visit while in San Francisco. The location was small but I felt as though I was in someone's Italian with energy and people moving around. The restaurant allows you to either sit inside or outside of which I chose to sit inside another to look at the paintings on the walls. I enjoyed being served by Nadine who happens to be from Northern Italy so it allowed me to practice my limited Italian. Adriano and Nene were also working the room so it was poetry in motion watching them work the room. It was a short walk from the Westin on Third Street from Market and I am so glad I went. Travel Advisor listed it correctly as a top 10 restaurant. Bueno jornata to all of my friends! BTW, I had the Lasagna for lunch and it came out steaming and was excellent! Loved the bread!

Friendly, efficient service. Decent breadth to the menu, from salads, to pasta, to secondi, to pizzas. Started with the fried pizza dough with mozzarella and prosciutto for the table(coccoli). On order of gnocchi al pesto, one of taglierini Verdi alla Pazzia, and one paprdelle bolognese (me). I was gonna get the lasagna, but the waiter suggested the bolognese. It was good...but, i gotta be honest, I think my wife's is much better...shoulda had something else. Everyone else loved theirs. A nice spot to which I would definitely return.

This restaurant has perhaps the best Italian food I've had outside of Italy. We started wth the beet and arugula salad and it tasted like the arugula was just picked. The highlight, however, was the ravioli from the special sheet. It was a homemade pasta filled with spinach and ricotta in a pink sauce along with baby artichokes. We shared the pasta and, in the end, wished we had just each ordered our own. We had a glass of a Chianti recommended by the staff and it was a perfect pairing. For dessert we had some of the lightest, most delicious Tiramisu. At the end of the meal we felt like we had a mini trip to Italy. We will be sure to visit Pazzia every time we come to San Francisco. Our only regret is that we didn't find this restaurant sooner.

For some weird reason, I had forgotten how much I love Pazzia! Great pizza and pasta--I always feel like I am in a trattoria in Florence. Perfect place after going to the SFMOMA, or for dinner in SOMA.

Delicious Italian food, home made pasta and great friendly service. Very busy the night we went but the service was excellent. Recommend reserving but I noticed the owner did his best to try to accommodate. Reasonably priced Italian wines. The food was tremendous.

Risotto with seafood was over cooked. It was very far from aldente... Mussels were also too soft, but shrimps - hard, this means the quality of seafood is lacking. Bread was not Italian. Prosecco was not tasty. I am disappointed

Had to wait over an hour for my food ..linguini with clams which was fresh but nothing special. A question over the bill was handled extremely badly by the waitress & the owner .

We ate here on a Thursday night, our last night before we flew back to the UK. This is a lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere and friendly attentive staff. The food was delicious, we both had pizza.

My friend and I were in town for a conference. Having seen the excellent reviews for Pazzia, we chose to dine here. With a little help from the staff, I chose the salmon with the crudaiola sauce. The fish was cooked exactly to my liking and the sauce was fresh and light. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her hearty portion of lasagna. We enviously eyed someone else's tiramasu. We would absolutely come here again!! Thank you Pazzia!!

I enjoy eating at Italian restaurants. On a recent trip to San Francisco, I ate at one excellent Italian restaurant and told the waiter that I wished to try two different Italian restaurants on this trip and could he recommend a second. I mentioned that some really good authentic lasagne would be great. The waiter came back and told me that the owner recommended Pazzia. So, I ate at Pazzia a couple of nights later. This is a small restaurant near the civic center. Of course, I had the lasagne, which lived up to its recommendation. My salad was very good, and the restaurant offers a nice wine list, including a nice selection of wines by the glass. The waitress was especially helpful and attentive, as was the rest of the staff. Definitely recommend!

Great place. Massimo is very friendly and you feel like you jumped to Italy for the meal. Everything we ordered was great. Meat, fish, salads, dessert. Not one complaint. This is a place to take your time and enjoy your time out and the meal.

Hello beautiful restaurant. We strolled up to Pazzia without a reservation while on a family vacation in San Francisco. It appeared all the tables were occupied, but they quickly and enthusiastically made us a table for 4 out on the sidewalk. It is clear they have a local following. Despite being a clear tourist family, they really made us feel very welcome and special. After the meal the ? owner/ manager made a special effort to thank us. Most importantly the food was outstanding. Great authentic cuisine!!! Delizioso Grazie Pazzia

The staff at Pazzia Caffe and Trattoria are very friendly and helpful. The pasta and pizza are fresh and very tasty. I had the margherita pizza which was very good. If you like Italian food, I'd highly recommend that you try Pazzia. It's the best restaurant within a few blocks of the convention center.

A great place to dine near Mascone Center. Food is excellently prepared and sent to the table with great service. All their food is seasoned well and fresh. My only complaint would be the high noise level.

I was shopping at a cloths store in the area and asked one of the employees if they had a favorite restaurant in the area. She told us about this place . We had soup, salad and a sandwich for lunch. It was a great lunch, everything fresh and tasty . I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good Italian restaurant for lunch. One note this restaurant is not in Little Italy, more south near the bridge.

Went here with a group of friends during a recent week-long visit to San Francisco. Liked it so much we went there twice...some in our group even went a third time! The food was outstanding, as was the service. Very welcoming and accommodating. Located near the convention center.

On a weekend getaway to San Francisco, we happened across Pazzia on a walk around our hotel. The owner greeted as soon as we arrived and made us feel as though we had been loyal customers for years. All of the employees were friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious!

Great Italian restaurant within walking distance from Westin on Market Street. After a long day of sightseeing, we stopped in our first night there. Although our concierge told us we didn't need reservations, i highly recommend them. We were lucky to get a table and the restaurant was packed when we left. Although service was a bit slow at first, the food was delicious and we were not hurried despite the line of people waiting to be seated. In fact, it was so good, we came back for pizza two nights later.

Stopped in for a late lunch on a break from the convention centre. Small place, but it was quiet at that time. Cheerful hostess invited us to sit, and we enjoyed some nice bread and oil. Then came a gnocchi in pesto sauce (hostesses recommendation) that may very well be the lightest, most delicious, most perfect gnocchi dish that I have ever eaten in my life! Did I expect this to happen during a quick work lunch and not at an opulent fine establishment? No...but it did just the same. Go and enjoy!

... But very noisy. The burrata was very good. Pizza Margarita very thin = very good too. I enjoyed the linguine alla vongole and my daughter the lasagna. The nebiolo wine of Piemont was perfect. Our waiter was really nice and spoke a bit of French. Only negative point is the noise and particularly as there was a large table with people enjoying loudly! 😉 However, it would need a bit of noise insulation (on the walls?) Thanks for the evening!

I’ve been to Italy many many times and travel across the US. One word describes Massimo’s restaurant- outstanding.

We ordered the diavola pizza for takeout & it was pretty good. Nothing standout amazing but it was pretty good value for the $15 price. Sizewise it was smaller than expected but inline for the price.

Nice clean hole in the wall restaurant. Doesn't seat many people, so go early. Food was delicious and authentic tasting Italian; including the fresh bread and olive oil starter. Highly recommend any of their pasta dishes and their awesome Tiramisu. Bring your wallet, price adds up quickly if you have multiple courses/drinks.

Such a fun and welcoming family restaurant. We loved it, the food was amazing, so much so that my two girls wanted to eat there again the following night. Aussie Family Abroad :)

We had dinner here with a group of friends and can highly recommend Pazzia. The food, service and atmosphere was fantastic. We had a mix of delicious starters and I had the lamb chops which were so tasty. We will definitely be back on our next trip to San Francisco. Thank you Pazzia !!

What a treat! After checking the Italian restaurants via TripAdvisor, we choose this restaurant to have diner. A cosy Italian style restaurant. Menu is not too big (which I like). We chose lasagne, pappardelle and the Salmon. One word to capture everything: WOW. What a treat. And not too expensive. I would recommend this restaurant to all who fancy an Italian diner. Be advised: make reservations or you might have to wait before a table is available.

Consistently wonderful! Massimo runs a wonderful place. Wouldn't be a trip to San Francisco without coming here.

Owner is extremely friendly- selection of authentic northern Italian is truly wonderful. In a city so full of rest.aurants this is a terrific option.the pasta was verydangerous good as was the veal dishes we shared. Good wine list and nice attentive service

We came here because of the reviews and it was close to our hotel. It seats about 36 people and yet it was really loud. Not intimate at all. Food was ok. Linguine and clams had no garlic to speak of. That was an essential ingredient I would think. Husband not happy with pizza. Soggy. He ate two pieces and that was it.

This restaurant was just like eating at my husbands family home!!!! Amazing!!!! The staff were so so friendly, quick service, the food was to die for! It's a cosy little restaurant. Everyone that works here is really lovely. If you're looking for yummy italian food this is the place ???

We loved our dinner here. It was not at all touristy and the ingredients fresh (pasta was delicious) and the staff was super friendly. I recommend this place for dinner!

I thought this would be amazing, as seemed authentic, and was highly ranked. I was disappointed. Caprese salad was served without Balsamic vinegar. The tomatoes were flavorless. The pizza was soggy and sauce was mediocre. The worst part, it is overpriced.

I ate here twice on a recent business trip to SF. I was staying nearby and had read the reviews. Came back a second night after having a busy day doing some touristy things. The waiters remembered me & my order from the precious evening! I had the caprese salad and linguine with clams one night and the papparadelle with bolognese sauce and a beet salad the other night. Delicious Pinot Noir both nights. Love this place! Will absolutely return on future business trips! A bit noisy but worth it!

We had an excellent experience. All of the food was delicious, the service was great. Started with appetizers (bruschetta, Burrata and a couple of salads). The pasta and pizza were both outstanding and the tiramisu tasted just as good as any we ate in Italy.

Little gem of a restaurant. Recommended by our hotel (SF Marriot Marquis) a few bocks away. Its what you imagine a family run restaurant in Italy should be like. Fantastic friendly accommodating staff running around making sure everyone is enjoying the food and having a good night. Freshly prepared pasta, meat dishes and fish dishes all at decent value. Tends to have a queue outside but no one seems to leave as it is worth the wait. This was one of the highlights of our holiday in the city. Pazzia? You have got to be mad not to visit here on a trip to San Francisco!

Found this place during a one night stopover in San Francisco. In short, it is superb! The place was packed, with barely any space between tables, but you never felt cramped... It just gave a good (busy) home feeling. Food was top notch and a good selection of wines offered. Service was personal and friendly even when so busy. This place is always busy for a reason. Perhaps not somewhere to go for a quiet, intimate dinner but well worth a visit for any other reason.

This place surprised us as we were a bit underwhelmed with the decor but the owner does seem quite attentive and although we had a good server there was another girl there I wish I knew her name and she came over twice to see if we needed anything this attention to detail is really nice I saw the owner helping an older lady into a cab that seemed pretty cool too my only problem would b the absence of Napa wines like a good cab from Sonoma something from Rutherford and the corkage fee is astronomical

Heard great things about this spot. All true as far as food and super-friendly servers. What nobody told us was the bare walls and lively crowd produced so much constant noise we could barely converse and almost got laryngitis making ourselves heard at all. So, go to enjoy food, but not to negotiate a business deal or propose marriage.

We went here after looking for places to eat that were hard to find for my friend because she’s a vegetarian. It was really cold outside, so the hostess asked if we wanted to sit outside and I did not have my jacket so we said no. We had to wait about five minutes for an inside table, but that was totally fine! I did not mind waiting. As soon as we sat down the waiter asked if we wanted any drinks or anything to get started. We ordered two dirty martinis and the Burratta as an appetizer. The Burrata was just OK by the way. Like 2 to 5 minutes later, he comes back and asked if we’re ready to order the main meals. We say we need just a couple more minutes. When he comes back again it seems like they are in a rush. Basically the waiter said yes it’s a busy night so if you guys can go ahead and order. I have never been rushed like that before at the beginning of dinner. I thought that was a really strange and rude. I ordered the Ragu pasta, which was really good and my friend ordered some spinach cheese ball things which was called a pasta, but she basically said it was just cheese balls with spinach. The martinis came with olives that were not seedless. Normally in a martini they are. Anyway, we wanted another cocktail before we left, but we decided to leave and go to spend our money at a different bar next-door that did not rush us one bit. Even when they brought the food I wanted a before and after picture of before Parmesan versus after Parmesan on my pasta, and the guy with the Parmesan looked at me like he was annoyed. Rude. You would think he would know what I was doing and what I would do with the pictures, reviews, hello !The inside of this restaurant is just OK looking as well. I rated this restaurant so low basically because of the customer service… while the hostess was really nice to get us a table, The rest of the dinner, customer service was just really bad. They kept hovering every 10 minutes to see how quickly we were eating. Never in my life.

This is a small but delicious restaurant that is about to expand. Reservations are a must due to its popularity. The staff was extremely friendly and seemed to really enjoy themselves. The bresaola starter was wonderful (just like I had in Florence only a few weeks ago), as were the minestone, sausage pizza, and salmon with kalamata and pancetta on homemade spinach taglierini! The grilled veggies were just OK, and maybe there could have been a bit more gorgonzola in our Medici salad. We loved it though, and look forward to going back!! Prices fair.

Loved this restaurant beacuse is so authentic italian. The atmosphere, the staff, THE FOOOD, the tables, everything. You feel like in Italy 😍

We enjoyed a great dinner here. Fast and friendly service. The pizza was good, if you like a thin base and a more authentic Italian style of pizza. Price was good for what you get.

This a happy kind of place. Go for the food and a good time - but not romance or serious conversation. Our group of 6 squeezed into a corner table that might be more comfy for 4, but we managed. We ordered bruschetta and burrata appetizers - both a success! But especially the bruschetta which is simple and fresh - and main dishes of pasta and lamb. All excellent. There is a modest Italian wine and beer selection. The owner is a big presence, greeting customers exuberantly. Our waitress Giovanna was heavily accented but charming and competent. Prices very reasonable for SF.

My wife and I found this little gem in Nov 2016 when we lasted visited SF. It was so good that we went back again during our stay. We will do the same thing this time during our visit. It is such a friendly place. The owner and servers are such swell people. Tonight my wife had chicken breast, mushrooms and Marsala sauce with broccoli and potatoes on the side. She also ordered a side of sautéed spinach. She said it was delicious. I started with a salad of greens, tomatoes, pine nuts, and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It was really great. For my main meal I had Pappardelle Bolognese = long wide pasta with beef ragu and fresh parmesan on top. It was excellent and very tasty. No dessert tonight as we were full. Very nice portions and the prices are very reasonable. If you have not been to this restaurant you are missing out on a superb Italian meal!

This little place is a gem! The people are amazing...I was in town for business & I swear when I booked online that it was for the right date, but apparently it wasn't and they said that happens a lot & told me to just wait a few minutes and they would get me in anyway. Incredibly generous as I would have totally understood if they couldn't. And WOW am I glad they fit me in, as it was delicious! I had the Gnudi & it was so good! Highly recommend if you're in the area & love Italian food (and wine) as much as I do.

I read several good reviews about this restaurant and since it was near our hotel and close to SFMOMA I thought my husband and I would give it a try. We were warmly greeted by the owner and were immediately served delicious fresh warm bread with tasty olive oil. Everything served to surrounding tables looked scrumptious so it was difficult making a choice. My husband ordered a very flavorful lentil soup and I ordered a perfect warm beet salad to start. My husband ordered a lasagna that could not have been tastier and I ordered rosemary garlic chicken that came with the best roasted potatoes ever! The chicken could not have been more tender or more flavorful. Although we were full we couldn't resist sharing a slice of cheesecake with raspberry sauce. What a perfect treat to top off an amazing meal! The owner of this restaurant could not have made us feel more welcome and the service was great! We will definitely dine here on our next visit to San Francisco!

This place is a little gem in sf. We got here and got seated right away (we had a reservation) and greeted by such friendly people! We had the raviolli and burrata which were both amazing! The tiramisu is also a must... The whole time you're here, you feel as if you're in Italy having dinner with a big welcoming family! Amazing food and service!

lots of fine italian offerings here in a casual setting south of market. but the restaurant is popular and reservations certainly recommended. service is friendly and attentive and the food was delightful and delicious. any home made pasta and there are some great pizzas too. nice wine list.

We were at pazzia 2 nights in a row, at the end of a roadtrip of 3 weeks across the westcoast. We were a group of 9, 2 families with kids. The hospitality, italian style welcome and fixing the seating issues, the delicous italian food and the charmes of the two owners was so welcome and felt like a homecoming after all these weeks. also with the children, they were very very nice (love the ‘no smartphone addictions at the table’ policy). Pazzia is really a great restaurant, true italian chaos and food. It is unusual for us to go back two times in a row, but we had just such a good meal that it was the right thing to do. More grappa and averna, great pastas and wine. Pazzia is small and that makes it beautifull. They are expanding next door soon! Dont spoil it guys, dont makenit the usual US style factory, keep the chaos and touch. Top experience.

The lasagna, the pizza, the complimentary bread was all amazing! However, what sets this place apart from the rest is the owners involvement with the customers, and how he works with his staff! He's attentive to everyone and does everything he can to speed up service from cleaning tables bringing food and asking if you need anything else!

You would never guess this unassuming, off the street restaurant would serve such scrumptious, genuine Italian food. All the pasta and most of the desserts are made on site. I ordered a pasta dish with mushrooms, peas and prosciutto in a cream sauce, then added some Italian sausage. It was out of this world. The dressing in the Caesar salad was delicious as was the house made Tiramisu. The servers were very attentive and helpful. I will definitely be back on my next visit.

The ambiance, tastes, and service at Pazzia Caffe and Trattoria was everything we hoped for and more. Saw the "Tripadvisor" Sticker on the door and decided to drop in an evening without dinner reservation. What a fantastic find! Every course was a delight, truly authentic Italian. LOVED the Beef Carpaccio, the salads were crisp, and the veal chop was incredible. And of course, the tiramisu - amazing!

We visited on a Saturday night after a March Madness Elite Eight basketball game. We did a last minute (5:30 pm) reservation for 6:00 pm and the restaurant was not crowded. However, by 7:00, the restaurant is tables were full and staff was hopping. The menu is curated with taste and texture options in traditional Italian courses. My husband had the calzone and I had the rigatoni with sausage ragu. It was delicious! Small restaurant gives it a European feel and the owner works the room chatting with customers. We would definitely recommend.

If you want a traditional Italian meal, look no further! It is best to book but you may get lucky early-mid week. Try the lasagna, OMG!

This restaurant wasn't far from our hotel so because of its high rating on TA we went there this evening. On arrival we found it very busy and noisy. We were seated and handed menus. I fancied a pizza and salad but side salads weren't offered, just salads as main meals. We looked at the pizza menu and many of them were $16. How can you justify charging that much? Because the noise level was uncomfortably high and the cost of a pizza we made our excuses and left, getting a much better value meal at The Grove instead. Much nicer and better value.

Really nice meal with authentic italian flavours served by a friendly helpful staff in a casual no frill setting. The proschuto and ruccolo pizza had a crisp base and the pasta dishes were great. Th

Food and service are excellent, staff is friendly. We tried lasagna, spaghetti pomodoro and margarita pizza and all dishes were delicious. If you plan to go you better do a reservation, even though we arrived without one and were able to seat.

We were recommended this restaurant during a visit to San Francisco, and were really pleased we manged to get a table. The restuarant is small so booking is probably advisable. Staff were friendly and the food was amazing. Rich and delicious sauces and fresh pasta. It was busy when went and so was noisy but it didn't spoil our evening. Strongly recommend.

High school cafeteria ambiance is a high point. Extremely rude and unprofessional owner was confrontational. Didn’t stay to try food. Our group walked out in disgust. Went to Wayfare tavern instead. Great time; excellent staff and food.

Small restaurant that as the evening continued, hustled with energy. The owners and staff bounced all over serving customers. My pasta dinner which was on the specials was quite tasty. It was a dish of homemade spinach pasta with Salmon...and heck, I can't remember. The Medici salad was lovely. My friend's pizza was good but we both agreed my pasta was better. We each had a glass of wine ($12/glass) and shared a dessert. With tip, our meals were $48/each. Helpful hint: call a few days ahead to make your reservations. We left a message early in the day on their service for a reservation on the same day.) It said leave a message and we will call you back.) They did not call back. We figured since we were eating early at 6:15, they could seat us. When we arrived, they said their machine doesn't always work and they couldn't sets us. The restaurant was half empty. After a bit of coaxing (ok, a lot of coaxing) they sat us. After salad and before entree they moved us so that we wouldn't have to leave so they could accomodate the reservations they successfully made. Before dessert there were still lots of empty tables including the one they moved us from. During dessert there still were two empty tables. It seems this place lost opportunity for not seating others that arrived without reservations at the same time as us. Synopsis: Good convenient food near the convention center. Working all day and want some good food close by? Definitely eat here. But, absolutely make you reservation well in advance.

The food was fresh, the ambiance was perfect and the service was wonderful. Couldn't have asked for a better dining experience.

Me and my family had no reservation on a busy night while visiting San Francisco, yet the Pazzia team bent over backwards to accommodate us and make us welcome. Fresh, authentic Italian meat, salads, fish, pasta and pizza. Wonderful vibrant but chilled atmosphere and great service. Heartily recommended!

I’ve been to Italy several times, and while I’m not typically a “foodie”, a simple, yet flavorful pasta dish is so comforting and fulfilling. Pazzia took me back to Florence with all things Italian, from the decor, wait staff and wine, to the menu and meals. We thoroughly enjoyed the homemade noodles in meat bolegnese sauce and veal Parmesan. I will be back to try other dishes!!

Our group of eight friends decided to try Pazzia after reading that on Trip Advisor this cozy gem ranked 10th (out of 4,900) restaurants in San Francisco. While I have only dined at a fraction of SF eating establishments, we had an amazing meal of great food and attentive and friendly service which became a 2 1/2 hour festival! We had reservations (I recommend) so we were seated immediately. Wine (all are Italian) and salads started off the evening. Our main courses were terrific... my red gravy with spicy Italian sausage and mushrooms was as good a pasta dish that I have ever had. Others raved about their dishes as well. Most of us ordered tiramasu for dessert. It was light, fluffy and covered with a chocolate sauce. It was a perfect end to the meal... Until the Limoncillo arrived. We were served by Forentine native Jacopo who was top notch and seemed to enjoy our company. And, yes, as we departed, we received hugs from the owner and Jacopo. Special Note to baseball fans: This great Soma restaurant is a straight shot (1/2 mile or so) on 3rd St. to AT&T Park. We can't wait for our return.

Old world Italian in a very modern city. Pasta was fresh and outstanding. Wine selection was limited but very good values and lots of Brunellos if your a fan. Service was five star and very family oriented. Only complaint I had was the heat, restaurant was extremely warm even with the doors open.

Go here you will have a true Italian experience I promise. I studied abroad in Florence and Massi is the best possible host you can have. He takes passion in his restaurant and runs it with such care and heart. If you like thin crust pizza go here and the pasta is absolutely amazing as well. Massimo treats all of his guests like family and I know this because he is my cousins husband. We love him!

The pizza was great and wait staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the LOUD techno music. Not a good fit and detracted from the ambiance.

My sister introduced me to this restaurant last night and it was a winner! Packed at 9 pm on a Monday night, there are clearly a lot of satisfied diners who come back again and again. I had the lamb chops (Agnello) medium rare with spinach and broccoli. Beautiful flavor on the lamb. Garlic, but not too much - it doesn't overwhelm the lamb. Finished with a glass of Limoncello- I felt like I was back in Italy! Try it, you'll like it. Chef/owner Massimo is from Florence and he brought a part of Italy with him.

Delighted to find this gem, Had a delicious meal here with my fiancé , clearly great attention to detail by the chefs who take great pride in the menu. Every element on the plate perfectly balanced, waiting staff/ manager all very friendly and professional, restaurant was very busy so service a little bit slow but the quality was well worth the wait.

Visit this restaurant! Great, fresh food combined with fast, friendly service made for a wonderful meal. The prices are very reasonable for SF. We had a very nice time and will be back!

Loves Italian food and enjoyed so much! Visited with the family , a group of 7. First of all, they did their best to accommodate us on Thursday, in no time. Hospitality was so friendly and warm. And the food... We ordered a caperza that had a great mozzarella and some vegetarian antipasti that was simply perfect. Main courses included a perfect lasagna (!) and various pasta dishes that had two things in common: brilliant sauce with great pasta that was a little bit over cooked, therefore a bit too soft. House wine was good. Atmosphere is noisy, as I would have expected from a trattoria. Overall experience: will definitely come again!

Our family stopped here for dinner on our first night in San Francisco and we were so happy we did! Service was wonderful. We arrived early and despite not having a reservation they were able to seat us. I noticed the restaurant got busy quickly and there were people waiting when we left but the staff worked quickly and efficiently and were not pushy at all. We enjoyed each of our meals and dessert. Probably the best tiramisu I have had outside of the North End in Boston. The homemade pastas were delicious. The staff is from Italy (Firenze/Florence) and therefore this is a truly authentic Italian restaurant. We would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area and will stop back...maybe before our trip is done!

If you are looking for great Italian food, Pazzia is your place. I've been there twice during the week I was visiting San Francisco. It really feels like you're dining in Florence! I've tried the pizza too, it's delicious.

Our party of arrived right when they opened. Our first impulse was to sit inside so we wouldn't have to talk over the street noise, and because it might get a bit too cool. However, it was hot and stuffy inside so out we went. Good choice - the street noise was just fine, and we seemed to be protected from the breeze. Great service, which is understandable given so few patrons so early, but the high service level was maintained throughout our meal as the place loaded up. Very friendly staff. The extensive menu made for a lot of indecision, but we were all very pleased with our meals. We got Clam pasta, chicken Marsala, an enormous calzone, and a special with salmon and prosciutto. It was all really, really good. We were starving when we showed up and ordered the loaded bruschetta appetizer, which wasn't necessary, since they also brought fresh bread - should've seen that coming. Unfortunately, the only beer available were those light Italian pilseners. The cheapest red wine was quite tasty. Relative to good dining in a big city, their prices are quite reasonable. I'd enthusiastically recommend this place.

Nicely laid out restaurant. The service was fine and whilst the food was generally very good, some of the dishes didn't quite hit all the high spots for us. In particular, the Linguine alle Vongole included juicy clams but there was a slight metallic taste evident. Also, the Tiramisu was good but we prefer ours with alcohol in the recipe.

I decided on this resaurant since my of my friends from the Netherlands is actually from Italy and I thought we should try some Italian food and see how a restaurant in SF compared to what she gets at home. Well, we sit down and our waiter starts to joke with us in Italian and it comes to find out that he and his family are from the same town in Italy as my friend and then the fun begins. I even learned some Italian that night. Okay, yes, the food was amazing from the mussels and bruscetta to the many different types of pasta our group had to the excellent wine selection. An excellent meal all around and to top it off as we are leaving our waiter gave each of us a hug and said grazie many times. It was quite the experience for all my Dutch friends and one that my friend told me that she will remember for years to come! ....my friend talked Italian all night to our waiter and it was just a total blast! The food was superb as we ate

Wow, every dish was excellent spaghetti, ravioli, fettuccine, pizza, lasagna. Excellent service and a delicious meal.

There was a portion of bread (still warm) with a marvelous olive oil as appetizer. I ate the gnocchi and it was soft as a cloud. The Prosecco was brand new even though I just ordered a glass. The dessert was a tiramisu also very soft and perfect. I totally recommend it

Premise:I'm an italian expat relocated in SF and this is the only place I had something tasting like in Italy. Location: not bad, the venue is small but the waiters and the owner have solutions for every kinda group. Not suggested for romantic meeting...the venue is small and make result some noisy Food: there is only one word to describe it: ITALIAN. I can suggest you to try calzone or lasagna but even the "secondi" are well cooked and tasty. Drink: good selection of wines, nothing fancy but the good ones. Service: fantastic! Waiters (and owner) know their stuff and they can suggest you something special for your taste. Most of the waiters are Italians, so if you want to be suggested, they can give you the right advice! Prices: in a town like SF, this restaurant is cheap! With 30-40 bucks you can have a very safisfying dinner! Final thought: You can argue it is good or not...but it is a true, original Italian. And, compared to some places in Italy, it is even better!

The owner, Massimo, and servers were attentive and delightful. The food was superb. I mentioned one of my favourite pastas (spaghettini al'alio, olio, pepperoncini ... excuse my misspellings) and Massimo said, with gusto, "of course we can make that for you!!!" An absolute delight and right up there with the best Italian food I've eaten.

On a recent vacation to San Francisco, our tour guide recommended we eat at Pazzia Caffe & Trattoria, conveniently located just a few blocks from our downtown hotel. We got their early, so didn't need a recommendation, but it is a small restaurant, so if you plan to go later, a reservation is a good idea! And because it is small, the seating can get a little cozy when it gets busy, but that just adds to the ambiance. We've been to Italy, and thought the food at Pazzia's was every bit as good as any we had there, and the service was better! I had the best filet mignon I've ever eaten! We highly recommend it.

We went here for supper on our first night in San Francisco, because it had good reviews and was close to our hotel; we were not disappointed! We each had a salad and a pizza and shared delicious chocolate cake for dessert. They also served bread before the meal which was warm and soft, with a side of olive oil. We arrived at 5, as they were opening and it didn’t take long for them to fill up. The service was fast, the staff were friendly and the food was fresh and delicious. I’d definitely eat here again.

I ate here about a year ago by accident, and the food was awesome. It's hard to live up to a memory but when I found myself back in SF and hungry I searched it out again. I am happy that I did. Don't be put off by the small number of tables or the apparently cramped quarters. Take a whiff of the aroma coming from the kitchen and prepared to be pleasantly full, because odds are you won't stop ordering until you are. I had pasta Bolognese and it was delicious, as good as the memory I had carried for the year. I won't wait that long before I return. Go soon and eat!

The service was fantastic and the food tasted fresh and authentic. Would definitely recommend. Heard about restaurant on trip advisor, was about 25 mins away from our hotel but we made the effort. Gosh weren't we glad we did! When we arrived to the restaurant we were told there would be an hr wait, after I explained that we had just arrived in San Fran they moved a few tables around and were able to fit us in within 20 mins. Gorgeous meal! They even offered to hail us a cab to get back to hotel.

We went here on our first night in San Francisco. And will go back. The service was outstanding. The food even better. We both chose from the Specials board Fresh pasta with generous portions of seafood was my choice. Beautifully cooked and bursting with flavour. The mushroom pasta was, I am assured, also delicious We had a bottle of Chianti and shared a pudding All excellent

Have reservations, its a small restaurant. (Expansion coming next door in future) I called ahead for reservations and left a message. They open at 6 and didn't call back. When I called around 5:30, they were already booked, but they told me they'd squeeze us in. I ordered pizza and bruschetta, fantastic! Husband had raviolis. Excellent dinner. The family/owners knew everyone coming in and hugged them. I imagine they were regulars. Service was fast. Food was piping hot.

The best I've ever eaten, tasty with balanced seasonings. Awesome!!! Service is perfect, very attentive staff. I highly recommend this Italian restaurant in San Francisco.

I have eaten in many places and many countries and never had this bad experience. It just ruined our whole dinner. We got our food and spices normally, but then realised we didn't have any cutler. So we had to especially ask waitress to bring them. We neither had napkins and had to ask for those too. Waitress seemed very angry and it felt to us like we were bothering her. After eating we asked for check and wanted to pay with credit card but waiter didn't come back to get our payment though we waited for a long time. It felt really stupid to wave and ask them to take our payment. We didn't get any apologies. Food was okay but a bit overpriced. Portions were small. I got nothing good to say about this place since this was the worst restaurant experience in my whole life. I give this 2/5 only because of the 2/5 food.

I was staying nearby and looking for a good Italian restaurant. This one showed up as #60 on TripAdvisor. So i headed over. It’s a small restaurant that was jam packed. As a single i was able to get a small table outside. I got the house white wine, burrata and margarita pizza. Amazing. Wine was good, simple. Burrata Fresh made with a little prosciutto and arugula. And the pizza was crispy thin thoughout with great sauce . Love it! Highly recommend. They are expanding soon which will be great. Located in soma area.

I lived in San Francisco and since have traveled there often. I confess I have spent most of my time near the Bay or more traditional tourist areas. This place is a great find south of Market. It's near SFMOMA and the convention center. It's a friendly and bustling place with a lot of well produced traditional Italian dishes and pizza.

Wow I can’t say enough about this place. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. I had a fennel salad and a pasta puttanesca, which wasn’t on the menu but they prepared it for me anyway.

This was a fabulous dinner recommended by Debbie at the Palace Hotel. The atmosphere was beautiful. Small, intimite dining atmosphere. Staff greeted us and promptly seated us. We had the lasagne and the pepperdelle. Both were very, very good. Mossimo delivered a surprise dessert to our table for my birthhday. Lovely jesture by my husband and Pazzia. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and would highly recommend for anyone in the San Fran area.

Bar none, one of the best Italian meals I’ve had in my life. Massimo is the best as is the wait staff. Gratzie!

Found another restaurant same name but run by Chinese. I didn't go in. Devastating impact, dark dirt. Stay away

Menu prices listed here are not correct. The menu provided to us once we arrived was much more expensive.

This restaurant was recommended to me by an Italian client of mine. Loved our first experience, and since then (for the past few years), we make it a point to eat there every chance we get! A small restaurant (an expansion is in the works), it has an incredible warmth about it. This is partly due to the owner Massimo who is ever present and takes care of his guests personally. His wait staff are attentive and knowledgeable. While the menu is not extensive, there is something in it for everybody. Good selection of wine & beer and a full bar. Their homemade fresh pastas are delectable, so is the chicken Medici. Pizzas are authentic. Whatever you eat, do NOT miss the Tiramisu with a Cappucino - truly to die for. So, while in San Francisco, if you want a taste of Italy at very reasonable prices, go to PAZZIA!

Great, small, authentic Italian restaurant. Excellent food quality, quick and friendly service. Highly recommended!

This was a TA top rated spot near our hotel so gave it a try. We were not disappointed. The bread is worth the carbs. The pasta is perfectly al dente. I had the fusili with eggplant and fresh mozzarella. It was like heaven - light and tangy. My friend had the seafood risotto and loved it. You will leave satisfied for sure. Prices are reasonable and service is great. It is a little loud but all restaurants in SF seem to be.

Great food very fresh Italian pasta. Showed up with family without reservation. Hostess and manager helped to get us table. Service was fast and efficient. Gnocchi and lasagna were fresh made that day. Great.

Great pizza with an awesome waitress Carrie! Not only was she friendly and funny but also efficient. We tried the thin crust instead of the deep dish. The pIzza was really good. I will definitely come back when in town.

We are staying in San Fran for a few nights and fancied an Italian so used Trip Advisor to find one with good reviews. We were able to walk in and get a table and the staff were very friendly. The decor in the restaurant is lovely. A woman came over and asked if we had any questions about the menu and as we had decided, she took our order. We were then brought two warm loaves of bread with olive oil - we asked for some balsamic vinegar too. This was a lovely touch as it was complimentary and we were also given a bottle of water to share too. We were offered more bread but we wanted to keep some space for our food. The service was great and the food was amazing. I had a Margherita pizza and my mum had the Taglierini Verdi alla Pazzia pasta. Both meals were delicious and a very good price for a city which is expensive. The pizza was very tasty and lovely and crispy. Thank you for a lovely meal. We will come back if we are ever visiting San Francisco again :)

This genuinely authentic Italian restaurant is amazing. Reminds me of places we frequented in Florence, Venice and Tuscany area. Great service! The owner worked as hard as the staff. Loved the freshest mussels, burrata, lamb, and pastas. Wish I had had room for the pizza too. Very local clientele and small intimate surroundings. The restaurant owner and staff were so nice to my 5 yo who loved the broccoli and pastas. Great Italian wines. Best tiramisu we’ve ever had. This is a hidden treasure.

Ate here with a bunch of friends to celebrate a special occasion. Food was fabulous, staff were great, and the owner even came out and hung with us for a bit. My favorite restaurant for Italian in SF!! --Bobby G.

When traveling from the UK, we had a meal here and everything was out of this world!! I was amazed with the food being cooked perfectly, staff was friendly and helpful. The whole experience was fantastic!

Loved it! Lively atmosphere, buzzy, noisy and clearly great place to be. Great pizza. Everyone seems to know Massimo (owner) who he gave me a superb welcome.and showed me the new bar next door Will be back, hopefully less than the 28 yrs it took me to come back from last time!

What a fabulous little gem we found in San Francisco!! So friendly and inviting. Food was delicious! My husband loved the pasta with homemade meat sauce! My pizza was delicious!

Stopped in for dinner after the convention and the place was packed. But they were wonderful, offering to bring an additional table outside or finding a space inside. Got seated and had some wonderful pasta and wine with attentive service, even with them being so busy. Well worth a stop.

Moms lasagna is amazing .... I used to live in the apartments above so would frequent Pazzia often. All the staff are very friendly and attentive. Don't over fill on the bread and oil and balsamic. All the menu and the specials are cooked to perfection but I cannot get past the lasagna. Italian beer and wine to finish off a wonderful experience again and again.

Just around the corner from the Moscone Center, there is this nice place where people can sit down to enjoy authentic Italian food. The restaurant offers seats inside and outside. We have been there with a small group after an exhibition and felt heartly welcome. The food is of great variety (pasta, fish, lamb, etc.) and quality and the noise level fell once people received their food. A great service who offered also different options for gluten and other allergies. After dinner I had a short chat with the owner and his sister and felt their passion which was also put in food we had. Overall a great evening. We will come back again.

This was Italy in the heart of San Francisco! I've traveled a few times around northern Italy... and Pazzia took me back! The thin, uncut, delicious pizza! The birra, the wine, the bread and oil, the friendly staff, etc.. Highly recommended!

We visited Pazzia tonight after a late arrival in San Francisco. The staff were incredibly accommodating and warmly welcomed us. My husband and son enjoyed Margherita pizza and prosciutto pizza with rocket which were among the best Pizzas we have tasted. I had the pappardelle with beef ragu and my other son had gnocchi with pesto-delicious! The pasta was fresh and full of flavour. The servings were just right and good value. All the staff were lovely especially Julia who was so welcoming and friendly. She even gave me some advice for our coffee tomorrow. I highly recommend this delightful restaurant and hope we can make it back there soon.

We had a great dinner (Italian cuisine) and incredible service at Pazzia. We highly recommend this restaurant. We didn't have a reservation but were there early enough in the evening to be seated immediately. The staff was very friendly, answered our questions about the menu selections, and was very attentive throughout the entire time we were there. Our meals arrived quickly and were perfectly done.

I came to this wonderful place in 2013 during a VMWorld conference. I loved it so much when I came back this year I had to go back. The food is out of this world. If you want Italian, in San Francisco this is the real deal. Best Italian I have had in my life. The owner Massimo is a warm wonderful host, and he makes a point to ensure that your happy. The place is quaint and inviting. Go here and you will definitely leave well fed, and happy you did.

We visited with 4 tired kids and were wary of upsetting the atmosphere. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating, super friendly and made us feel right at home. Food fantastics - pizza and meatballs for the kids, pasta and a fun wine list for the adults. Food superb. Highly highly recommend.

Exceptional, simple, traditional Tuscan, with superb service. Both nights we visited — at 9 and at 6 — every seat was taken, and yet the service was attentive without being overbearing. All the wait staff seemed to be Italian, gracious, well informed. We expected prices to be much higher given the quality. Highlights: mussels in simple white wine sauce was the best I’ve had; Rigatoni con sasiccia was astonishing; Taglerini w/spinach pasta, salmon, olives, pancetta was new to us and wonderful; the pared-down bolognese seemed to be made with high quality beef or veal. Simple quality comfort food that didn’t strike me as exceptional. Very nice fennel salad. This is one of those rare restaurants not in he TripAdvisor top ten in the city, but to which the word “sublime” applies.

Choose the place for their high ranking. However, their pizza alla diavola was somewhat disappointing. The bottom was really spongy. I had the 'problem' that at the same time there was a large group of people celibrating something. The attention of the staff was totally focussed on this group.

What a GREAT little place. I had the Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza. Just like you get in Italy 👌. We also had the homemade pistachio ice cream; to die for.

Food (from Appetizers to Dessert) was absolutely delicious! Staff was extremely friendly and they were all doing an excellent job. Great atmosphere. Real Italian experience! Didn't have to wait very long (10 min) which is excellent given their ranking on trip advisor etc.

Pazzia is a cozy restaurant with great food and service. I dined there for lunch and was quite pleased with their pizzas.

First time and it was fun and tasty. We enjoyed the spare rib, pizza (lots of choices--thin crust) and beet and burrata salads. Brought our own wine, wine list was reasonable and fair selection. The veal was a hit along with salmon. Small facility, so make reservations and limited outside seating. Great service with lots of smiles. The hit was the tiramisu dessert--the best!! Cappuccino was hot and good.

Great little stop near SFMOMA. Very fresh pasta and good wine choices. Service was wonderful and location lends itself to outdoor seating. Delucious tiramisu a further treat!!
Poor service
Poor service staff not nice at all , when we ask for Wi-Fi they said it is private dont believe that it happen in 2024 not offerinf Wi-Fi ?? The lady who was managing our payement at the end was nervous not able to give correct bile and food not exceptional I do not recommand at all
