Excellent Italian Food

By Odyssey60997029779 |

Sean Carter Archer and his wife, Virginia are cranking out some of the best Italian food at we have had in San Antonio at Pazzo Pastaria. Blink and you will miss this place, located just south of the big HEB on Nacogdoches. We saw them on the San Antonio Restaurants Facebook page and decided to give them a try. They are also a San Antonio Restaurants Gold Club restaurant and offer perks to their members. Sean is definitely refined local chef, with experience at Chez Ardid and other locales. His food reminds me of the North End in Boston. His wife runs the front of the house and makes a point to check in with all her guests. It’s not a big place so reservations are suggested. The bread is served with an olive oil/balsamic her dipping sauce. So many places order their pasta, but Chef Sean is creating fresh pasta each day. You can tell by the perfect al dente bite. If your idea of pasta is Kraft shells and cheese this will be a different experience. I also like that the salads and many entrees come in a small and large size. But even the small Caesar salads are larger than most other restaurant’s side salad. The dressing has a good garlic bite. So many great choices on the menu. My wife ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara. The sauce was excellent. I ordered the Bucatini Florentine with chicken, mushrooms, and fresh spinach. The white wine butter garlic sauce was flavorful without being too much. We used the San Antonio Restaurants Gold Club app to get a free panna cotta with blueberry sauce. It was very creamy and a nice finish to dinner. Thank you for being upfront about credit card fees on the menu. They offer a 3% discount when you purchase with cash.

Great Italian in San Antonio.

Excellent San Antonio spot for a casual dinner out with the family. By far, the best Italian lunch and dinner spot in town. Food and service are amazing. Try the Bolognese and the Chicken Piccatta which far exceeded expectations.

Shockingly Great

This restaurant is clearly a passion project of chef and owner Sean Archer because everything was several notches above any place else I have eaten Italian in San Antono. The food was astonishingly good, the drinks (I had a sugar free hazelnut drink) and the dessert were wonderful, the espresso after desert was perfect. I can't say enough. I was literally shocked by the quaiity of the food. Do yourself a favor and go. The outside doesn't look like much (it's in a strip center) and the inside is simple, but the food will leave you speachless. My only regret is that I anticipate that the restaurant won't be in my neighborhood for long - it's destined for bigger and better things. Get it while you can.

This is Italian!

This place from start to finish was so delicious. The place is small and in an obscure shopping strip. However, you walk in and the glorious smells hit you. The calamari was perfect, the hand made pasta and sauces where phenomenal, and the dessert....ooo the dessert. My only critique is that all of the pasta dishes should be served in the short round bowl instead of the small taller bowl so you have more room to shimmy your pasta around.
