The food was incredible, but the bar was even better! Killer cocktail menu clearly emphasized their commitment to true cocktail mixology. Our group had a great time and would absolutely go back!

They have great drinks!! Try a few different cocktails. Most of the time the food is great! One time our food was OK not great and not bad but just OK.

We enjoyed sitting at the beautiful bar and interacting with the friendly bartenders. Many drinks were $5 at happy hour and salads and some appetizers were half price. All of the drinks we tried were excellently prepared. The french onion soup was delicious.

If going for drinks, sit at the bar. The bartenders were all great and made all of the drinks enjoyable. I recommend getting drinks that are not on the menu- tell them what kind of things you like and let them make you something special. The food was good as well. Not a ton of food, but high quality.

We had cocktails here before and wanted to go for happy hour and try the croque Madame. It was terrible. Ham wasn't edible and sauce was disgusting. We've had this dish at other places and in France. Peche version wasn't even close. And the ham- disgusting fat pieces. Won't go back a third time.

A server at another restaurant recommended this place for its incredible Monday happy hour and it was a thing of beauty. We tried all new things and they are all really cool and delicious. I can highly recommend this cool place with a bit of an off the wall menu.

The cocktails at this place are delicious and so many to choose from! The ravioli was good but not very memorable, especially compared to the drinks. The mushroom fritter appetizer was really good, though. Highly recommend. The ambiance is really cool and cozy, too. I'd definitely go back.

My husband and I first went to this little place 4 years ago when we went to Austin for a weekend trip and had a great drink with exceptional service. When we returned this year we had to stop by again. This time I would say the drinks were as exceptional as the service. We were treated like VIP from the moment we walked in. I asked for an off the menu drink and was accommodated without question. So many "mixologists" act like they are above a simple drink. Thank you guys (and gals) for enjoying making a good drink! We will be back.

Warm welcome at the door, followed by congenial service; attentive, though not overly so. Regular menu supplemented by daily specials offered quite the choices for food and drink. Cocktail menu heavily New Orleans oriented as in this is your chance to try absinthe. Happy hour has good prices ($5 cocktails, but limited selection of what's eligible for the special price. Split an order of the bone marrow with frites and an egg as an appetizer and that worked well. We both had the redfish for a main, with a South African Chenin Blanc, and that worked well together. Lots of room for groups to push tables together. No rush to leave the table.

All the cocktails are handcrafted and superb...the mixologists absolute masterminds! The food is amazing, Chef John Lichtenberger is an artist with his flavors and plate presentations. Perfect for an evening out on the town, girls night or date night!

What a cool place! I had never been to an absinthe bar, and I'm so glad we ended up here. I hear they have a great happy hour, but we barely missed that. My husband had a couple of their absinthe cocktails and I just sampled straight absinthe. Bartenders gave great suggestions. We didn't have any food while we were there. Check them out while you're in town

The ambiance is great - sort of 1920's in France- as befits a place which serves absinthe and absinthe cocktails. This is only one part of the imaginative cocktail list, which also has outstanding offerings based on bourbon, gin, or other liquors. Read the descriptions then let your server help with nuances of sweet and bitter, etc. I am a personal fan of the Corpse Reviver #2, and this was the best I've had. With cocktails, we enjoyed mushroom fritters that were crisp and tasty, and outstanding deviled eggs. A variety of entrees were all very good, including several pork options. The warm pecan pie is an excellent finish and very good to split. Overall, an outstanding dining and drinking experience.

Delightful. Quail had a delicious twist of honey and stood out to me the most but everything was wonderful. The manager was charismatic and helped me pick the perfect drink and he continued to check on us. High dollar menu so would make a great date night or special occasion.

I’d like to share my recent experience at Péché, which was disappointing and raised serious concerns about our health. Last night, a group of six of us was excited for a dinner we had been looking forward to. We ordered drinks, two salads to start, and each picked a main dish. At first, everything seemed fine, but not long after finishing the salads, I began to feel very nauseous. I had to excuse myself to the restroom, where I ended up vomiting. When I came back, I noticed one of my male friends had also been in the bathroom for quite a while. Shortly after that, two more friends from our group started feeling ill and had to step out as well. By the end of the evening, four out of six of us were unwell, and we decided to cancel our main courses due to health concerns. When we approached the manager to discuss the situation, we were met with defensiveness and a lack of respect. Instead of showing concern about our well-being or looking into what might have caused our illness, they refused to comp our drinks and salads, which felt incredibly dismissive. It was shocking to see such a lack of accountability, especially given that multiple guests became sick in such a short time. In the aftermath, two of my friends who were still feeling ill even took photos to document our condition, as we felt it was necessary to report this to the health department the next day. My family has owned a restaurant in California for over 35 years, and my mother was appalled when she heard about our experience. She pointed out that during her time in the industry, they had never encountered a situation where several guests fell ill at once, emphasizing the need for prompt and compassionate responses to such issues. Overall, I would strongly recommend that anyone considering dining at Péché think twice. The indifference to customer health, combined with the rude treatment from management, left us feeling not only unwell but also disheartened by the entire experience. It’s clear that there are serious problems at this establishment, and it’s disappointing to see such negligence in a business that should prioritize the safety and satisfaction of its customers.

Amazing selection of cocktails, probably the best collection of scotch in Texas. Had a few drinks and apps, great service, the bartenders are magical. Will be back soon

Okay, so Mondays are happy hour all day. Food items marked with an asterisk are 1/2 price. We ordered American fries (and these were the best fries any of us have ever had anywhere ever), escargot (not our favorite, even though we enjoy escargot in general), mac n cheese (wow- just do it), and mushroom fritters (um, YES!! I would go back just for this). This was an abundance of food that the four of us could not finish. There were so many giant baskets of fries going out to tables that this place alone is prob responsible for a hefty proportion of potato sales in Texas. Tiger’s Tail was our favorite of the drinks. I don’t think I would go here and pay full price, but this was a really fun Monday night stop. We were seated with no reservation and no problem, but within five minutes of our seating, the place filled up and was packed. The AC dripped continuously from the ceiling onto one of us. We were at the back table. The bathroom smelled slightly of damp/mold. Not entirely surprising in a building in such an old area of Austin. Still, we really enjoyed our stop here.

and great french fries (really great!) but the house-made tonic water messed up my wife's gin and tonic.

I saw the rave reviews online...I had to visit! I dine late so it was great the something well-rated was still open. The cocktails were inventive and delicious. The food was tasty and creative. Service was spot on. I suppose me coming here twice is testament to my satisfaction!

The hubby chose this restaurant for Valentine's Day; it was very busy but the lighting and table arrangements make for intimate dining. Every bar stool was full! We were seated earlier than our reservation which was nice because we were hungry. The history and premise of the place is cool; we wanted to try the absinthe but after being told it tastes like black licorice (yuck!) we declined. Maybe next time we will try something just to say we did. Appetizer was the bone marrow plate with fries and a fried egg. Very decadent and delicious (hubby wasn't a fan only because of truffle oil somewhere in the dish.) I could feel my arteries harden as it went down but I didn't care! The only thing that would have made the dish a little better is some bread to smear the marrow on. Main courses: I ordered the rabbit fricassee and he ordered the lamb chops. After tasting both our dishes we decided to switch and were perfectly happy! The rabbit was delicious but I preferred the lamb and the sides that went with it. Hubby thought the lamb was too "gamy" but I grew up eating lamb so I thought it was great. No dessert; too full! All in all a good meal but pricy for regular visits so we will be back for a special occasion or happy hour.

We loved this place. I loved the duck mac and cheese. My husband loved the charcuterie board. The dessert was also amazing. Chocolate torte and pecan pie

This bar was highly recommended to us but I don't know why. It seems like the majority of servers who we interacted with in Austin were friendly, not so much here. The absinthe that we ordered wasn't the kind that got the fountain brought to the table. So we missed the fountain fun flourish.

This restaurant does not meet the standard of fine dining! Bouillabaisse was too salty. The prawns have black veins. Rabbit ravioli were garnish with sliced carrots. This place has an impressive bar but not a place for food.

This little place has just become one of my favorites. The cocktails are heavenly. The bar food isn't really bar food at all - It is painstakingly prepared and absolutely delicious. Wonderful place to visit with a friend. Bar seats or tables - Same awesome service, drinks, food, and atmosphere. Peche rocks!

Went in for dinner last night and was pleasantly surprised. Right off the bat, great cocktails - we did the French 75 which was light and refreshing. They have a good wine list as well, we opted for a bottle of sauvignon blanc. For starters we shared the Pommes Frites (VERY generous portion, can't go wrong with fries), Steak Tartare (my favorite dish of the night, excellent flavor), Tuna Tartine (good flavor, great portion size) and Oysters Half Shell. For the main course, we shared the Housemade Wild Mushroom Pappardelle, it was a little bland on flavor (needed salt) but the pasta and mushroom were cooked well. Friendly service, loved the ambiance, and they're doing a great job of keeping tables spaced out during COVID.

Stopped here when held up in traffic. The room is nice, staff is great. We ordered Bones and Frites, and Tuna. The bones were not conducive to housing much marrow and a very big disappointment, much like the bones. The Tuna was acceptable. The room was good, wooden floors and high ceilings made it exceptionally loud. Don't spend too much time looking around in the restrooms...

We came here on New Year's Eve after all the other bars in the area were insanely packed (as you would imagine). I called peche from another bar at around 10pm and they said they would be able to get us a table even though we were only drinking (we ate elsewhere). Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated at a table (we had 9 in our party). The drinks were all outstanding. I had the old fashioned and it was on of the better ones I have had. The drinks do take a while here but that is because they are all craft cocktails which take time to prepare. It was nice that they were serving with the same passion on NYE even though the place was packed. Our waiter was friendly and provided recommendations. The few reasons I had to dock a star: - no prices on the cocktail menu! Our waiter said the prices ranged and would quote us per drink. ?!?! - a beer order took 15 minutes! From a bottle! - prices are a little steep for Austin

Came upon this bar/restaurant by accident on a Sunday late afternoon. We wanted to find a place with great bartenders that could make an exceptional French Coffee. Well, this place did a great job of that, though a little pricey. But the 1/2 price food on Sunday made up for it on cost. Some great food too. Would recommend this place!

We went to Peche on a Thursday night and absolutely loved it! The charcuterie plate was like nothing I've ever had before. The liver mousse and beef tongue and patte were executed perfectly and so was the escargot! Last but not least the bartenders were fun and made the best drinks! We will defiantly be back soon.

Enjoyed dinner with my son. His onion soup was very good. I had an Octopus salad which was outstanding, as well as a lamb stew that was super tender, hearty, and worthy of cantankerous French chefs everywhere! Wine selection (by the glass) was interesting and tasty. Service was excellent. Prices reasonable. My only complaint would be the noise. The restaurant seems to attract lots of boisterous Hipster drunks who derive pleasure in shouting down their tables...backdropped by a rhythmic pounding bass from the bar next door. Certainly not conducive to a romantic meal nor everyday conversation with one’s tablemate(s).

Awesome French food in the heart of downtown and great ambiance and service to go with it. I was visiting Austin for just two days and stayed in downtown to be close to everything and from all the places I tried, Peche was the best by far.

Basically stumbled upon Peche after walking around downtown late afternoon, finding ourselves tired and hungry and knowing we didn't want Mexican food. The menu and atmosphere caught my eye, so glad we had dinner here. Didn't venture to try an absinthe drink however the daiquiri and peche paloma were both lovely cocktails. Salads were fresh and delicious and the braised short ribs with duck fat mashed potatoes and wild mushrooms was tender and full of flavors - wonderful meal and service. If ever in Austin again, I will definitely return - highly recommend.

Well the onion soup was okay it’s a French restaurant they should be able to get that right. Then I ordered the duck confeiet- terrible got good poisoning.

We went to happy hour Monday night. The drinks were yummy, but the pomme frites and mac and cheese with duck confit were RIGHTEOUS !! Great staff made everything wonderful. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We have been to Peche several times and have been very impressed. Beautiful decor, excellent food, good service, chef comes out of the kitchen to say hello. Wonderful drinks and a gorgeous bar. One of the best in Austin. I hope they bring their Waldorf salad back on the menu. It was so good! There is also valet parking right outside.

I wanted to go to Peche because of a referral I received from someone at Whiskey Cakes in San Antonio. We had been talking about Absinthe and I was told there was a drip there I had to see. We stopped in and found just what we were looking for and a little more. I ordered the Deviled Eggs for my wife because she likes them and they were amazing, not just in taste but in presentation, I will post a picture so you can see them. Everything was what I had hoped.

The place is beautiful. And the service was good. But the food not so much. I ordered a gin & tonic that tasted like cinnamon : ( This plus the fact that was expensive, makes me give it 2 stars.

This is a super cool place, personable wait staff, yummy food, and great drinks. If you haven't already been here, I highly recommend.

Wwe were in Austin for the marathon and wanted to go to restaurant that was a little more than the local barbeque or steak house and Peche was it. The food was outstanding and delicious. Our wait person was great, friendly and knew the food. The owner and executive chef came over and greeted us. It was a great experience except for the loud band and drumming coming from next door. There was nothing that could be done about the noise. It was an open music area. The building the restaurant is in is an older brick but wonderful building but at the back part of the restaurant there were several windows (not open but from a previous time) and they didn't do much to block the pounding noise made by the electric drum technology. The owner John talked to us about the situation and he has tried to get the City of Austin to do something. He was very apologetic but even with that we come back for the food and the staff. This was Valentine's Day weekend plus the marathon so perhaps the band thing was not the norm but the City should do something. Perhaps sound boards on the windows could help.

Great place in downtown Austin for some drinks and interesting food. A fully stocked bar makes it a happening watering hole. The food options are really interesting. Appetizers: Fries, Escargots, Charcuterie (beef tongue, liver mousse, pork cheeks, sausage) The charcuterie is pretty good if you want to be adventurous. Their shrimp salad was excellent.

The bartenders at this restaurant are all top notch and the cocktail menu is extensive. Try the fig Manhattan, it is absolutely delicious. The food is also high quality with many of the dishes locally sourced. I'll definitely be back.

We headed here for my husband’s birthday and he enjoyed quite a few of the happy hour cocktails while we shared some of their happy hour food. I was pregnant and yet they accommodated me by creating some interesting and delicious mocktails for me to enjoy too! Really quirky and the staff were attentive. The owner also dropped by our table to check on us which was nice.

Lots of great drinks and great food. I highly recommend going here and ordering EVERYTHING off the menu. Delish!

Took some out of town visitors for happy hour and they want to go back again. Fries are wonderful, drinks are unusual and very good. Happy hour menu is very reasonable.

This is a great spot for a simple date night, we love the happy hour drinks and all the food is awesome! The escargot is always a treat and the mussels en coconut brodo is to die for!

Our dinner here was like an adventure. Our server was so helpful and enthusiastic, it made for an entirely different meal experience. We tried several of their creative cocktails, and had lots of different dishes from the menu, many of which were pleasant surprises! The entire front of house and back of house team did a fantastic job and I would highly encourage anyone to enjoy a meal here.

There are so many great spots for food, drinks and culture in Austin. This beautiful little spot is clearly in the top 5. The amazing experience deserves a BIG headline. The duck confit mac and cheese is ridiculous!! As was the bone marrow and twice-fried frites. Truly felt like I was in France. The cocktails were spectacular crafted with perfection, excellence, and craftsmanship. Even ordered a Ramos Gin Fizz at the busy time of the night (sorry team) and it was perfect - right out of the book perfect. Please stop in and see this amazing spot and share one of Austin's finest.

We went to Péché on our first night in Austin. The place has a feel of a French bistro, matched by the menu with many French and French-inspired dishes. It reminded me of growing up in France, and I couldn't resist the "bones and frites" (bone marrow and fries). Delicious and authentic. So were the mushroom fritters, french onion soup, haricot vert salad and oysters Rockefeller. The waiter was attentive and fun, so was the owner and the chef when they visited the table. The owner got us a taste of mashed potatoes--something we didn't order, yet he said we had to try--and they were really good. Of course, I had to try one of their absynthe drink (I went for the Pernod, another French staple). We had such a good time and such a great meal. We strongly recommend!

This review is really just about the bar area, as we didn't order any food. We were in town on a no-kids getaway, and one night at dinner, my husband and I asked our young, hip waitress about good night spots. She immediately suggested Peche for cocktails, so we checked it out. We walked in and immediately found open seats at the bar on a Saturday night. We were greeted almost immediately by one of the several bartenders. The cocktail menu is extensive (I think he told us they have 75 different cocktails on the menu, some of which rotate out seasonally). I am not much of a drinker but picked the cocktail that sounded most like a margarita - it had tequila, cassis, jalapeno, ginger beer, and a few other things. It was made exceptionally well. There are many neat drinks here that are fun to watch the bartenders prepare - the most popular that night seemed to be something that involved setting a sprig of rosemary on fire and then pouring the drink over it. We probably saw him make that one 15 times. If you really want unique, well-made cocktails in a cool atmosphere, definitely give Peche a try!

My husband and I went to Peche for a nice night out and it was just what we were looking for. The food and drinks were excellent. We both loved the Fig Manhattan, and the Norwegian Cod was perfect. If we hadn't been only there on a brief visit from the Midwest, we'd certainly be back.

My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around downtown. We have now visited three times. The staff is great and very friendly. The booths are comfortable and cozy. Fantastic cocktails and a great wine list that is very affordable. Two stand out dishes are the onion soup and short ribs with duck fat mashed potatoes! I dream of both of those dishes. The onion soup is probably the best I have ever had and I have had many. We have eaten the lamb and steak here as well and they were both lovely. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Do yourself a favor and plan a visit!

Recommend by a local, we sat at the bar which was a full library of spirits. The bartenders really knew their products and science to a great cocktail. The fig Manhattan was Devine. In addition an amazing menu. A scratch kitchen and the owner came to check the quality of the food and him employees. Can’t wait to go back.

What a great find downtown Austin. The cocktails were excellent, the staff are very friendly and helpful in choosing your drinks for you. The bar is very well stocked see my video. The appetizers were super and the bread to die for. They make their own fresh bread. 6 of us ate and ordered various dishes. I had the veal it was divine. Everyone was happy with their food. It’s a speakeasy place the atmosphere was so much fun on a Friday night. Plenty of tables. The bar looked like fun we may sit there next time! All kinds of nice people in this place. If you’re a large party I would make a reservation. Definitely give this place a visit you will not be disappointed. You’ll be going back for moe. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

The food is exceptional, the bar and wine selection is outstanding, all served in a French atmosphere. My husband and I dine at Peche's every time we're in Austin.

I went to this restaurant, which is really a huge bar during one of my opera trips to Austin. The food was amazing and I shied away from the very potent drinks, but the bar is also a must see. I highly recommend the restaurant.

The location and interior is very cozy whether for drinks or dinner. We went for an early dinner with a 2 year old - staff were accommodating but would probably say that it's not a typical place for small kids. The food was delicious and great size portions. Small wine list but what we got was lovely. I will definitely be returning, maybe for date night next time :)

This is my second visit to Austin and my second visit to Peche. I discovered it during my first visit because I was looking for a bar that centered around quality spirits and I was not disappointed. Excellent selection of scotch and gin. The food here is simply excellent. Interesting menu, nice portion sizes, and high quality ingredients. Bartenders are awesome.

We dined here during a business trip and I was blown away by the food and drinks. The cocktail menu is a little overwhelming with choices, but once I made my selection I was really impressed with the taste and unique ingredients. The food was also equally impressive - the mussel appetizer was phenomenal (that sauce!) and the braised short ribs I ordered were practically melting in my mouth. The atmosphere was also great, very speakeasy-feeling, but above ground. Lots of groups of people enjoying the place when we were there.

I've been fortunate to eat at Peche many times now, and they never disappoint. The food is delicious, and while they offer a number of fish dishes, their meat and protein options are very good (especially their ribeye and burger). They also make an awesome Old Fashioned; on this note, I recommend going with either their High West Rye Old Fashioned, or their same drink with Mezcal. Both are tasty, and you'll be hard-pressed to have just one. The servers and bar staff are really great. They're always smiling and eager to please, and they definitely enhance your overall experience. In addition, the owner, Rob, makes many trips around the restaurant to check in on the guests... I always thought this was pretty cool. The decor is also modern and fresh, and it's well-located in downtown Austin (nearby many bars and other fun spots). Big fan of Peche.

Nice staff, cool vibe, and heaven if you want 1000's of drinks to choose from. I had the steak on the menu and I feel I might have ordered wrong. It was not bad, but for $42, I thought it would be really, really great. I will give the place another try and get something different.....

Ever been to a bar or restaurant and ordered a relatively complicated drink only to have a bartender roll their eyes? Well these folks relish complicated and the more the better! I didn’t have food but everything I saw looked dang good. But what makes this place shine is the amazing variety and complexity of cocktails they serve. Put it on your list, and go by and challenge them!!!

I dropped in during happy hour one Monday. it has a quaint Irish pub feel with a smattering of tables and chairs and booths along the wall. The bar is the focal point. I sat on the right side which had to 11ft long. There I viewed the most exquisite collection of Scotch I have ever seen in Austin. The best collection of distilled spirits in the city I believe. From tequilas, to japanese, whiskeys, to ryes. I settled on a dark and stormy, a concoction of aged rum and ginger beer. I paired it with their mushroom fritters which were very nice. Vegetarians beware as they are all about the meat but the dishes I saw look delectable.

Everything was great! Andy (bartender) was amazing! We will definitely return to Peche and recommend it to friends!

Had dinner there last night. The lamb chops were on the specials menu at $35. The meat was tough and contained too much gristle. The flavor was nothing I couldn't prepare under my own broiler at home for a fraction of the price. I was there with my wife and another couple. No one was knocked out by either the food nor the service. Our waitress was strangely absent until we were almost finished and then suddenly kept coming back to close us out. We ordered a cheese board to start and had to send the bread back as it was dried out. The manager asked us how we liked it and when we told him he seemed surprised but then brought us some fresh bread. The only bright spot was my interesting fig-infused manhattan cocktail which was very good. But overall, none of us said we would want to return.

The rib eye is to die for and so are the drinks made with absinthe, yes this is what the famous painter Toulouse Lautrec used to drink. And they even have a drink called The Moulin Rouge. Small and intimate, with that Austin flair.... check this out for yourself.

Came here for a business dinner. Atmosphere is wonderful. Nice decor & quiet enough to talk with good music playing. Seems like an older, more distinguished crowd dines here. No college students in sight. Food has a French flair. Not a large selection of entrees and can be on the expensive side. Our party had the roasted chicken, Mussels, and duck entrees. Everyone loved the food. The entrees were not huge but no one left hungry. We had the Mac & Cheese app & it was a huge hit; really fabulous. I’m not a duck fan but the Mac N Cheese with it makes it super special. The wine & drink menu is extensive & reasonable. We had signature drinks & a bottle of French red wine that was recommended by the restaurant. Everyone loved their drinks. The food & service was outstanding. I would eat here again. It was pricey but worth it. Location is good. Walking distance to 6th street bars.

Do not be tricked into thinking that this is mainly a bar that also serves food, as they really have an impressively long bar. This is a place where you can get some dishes that will make you want to come back to order again. The Pan Roasted Stuffed Quail and the Pecan Pie were both memorable dishes that were just better than what you find at most other establishments. Our server was very personable and also helpful with the menu selections. They also have some nice wine choices that you will not find elsewhere. Check out my photos for more details.

When we are a party of 5 and they can only allow us 2 menus, with a reservation knowing we are coming???? I mentioned to our vey rude waiter that "menus aren't that expensive to print" after he took away 3 of ours, his response was, "well, they have to be laminated". GOOD LORD! Service was slow, food was great, but food is great all over Austin. Will not be back. Did love the fact that the chef came to check on our table, but the service was ridiculously lacking. And the tables are WAY TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. Restaurant was not full, but staff did nothing to move us apart. As mentioned, the food is GREAT, but the chef can't get his due when the front staff aren't up to par. MAJOR MAGINAL FOR AUSTIN. Also, valet parking took over 30 minutes. NOT COOL.

We decided to catch the movie version of Macbeth and walk to a place for dinner. We had not been to Peche in a while so we walked over. Started with some nice drinks and ordered our dinner. The broccoli cream soup was very light with greatmouth texture including olive oil and some crisp fresh broccoli. Next my date enjoyed the kale salad adding scallops while I had the special tenderloin with truffle mashed potatoes and crisp green beans. We took our chocolate dessert with us for a late night treat. All good to great dinner and drinks that evening.

Not really sure if its hidden or not, but I had never heard of it before. Fantastic drinks, crazy whiskey selection, and atmosphere was top notch. Only knock was the drinks were a little steep, but I'd pay it all day to hang out here.

Superb restaurant and experience. The restaurant is high end quality without pretentiousness. The maitre’d was able to accommodate our barely arrival and sat us in a booth. The service was professional and friendly. And the food, outstanding! A very kind gentleman employee often stopped by to chat and made meal recommendations. We later in the evening discovered he was the owner. He celebrated our 10th anniversary with some amazing grappa. Do not visit Austin without eating at Péché.

Great restaurant, excellent food - especially the lamb Bourguignon and very good service. Showed up without a reservation on a busy Friday and the squeezed us in. Fairly loud so more of a group place perhaps than a romantic dinner but I will certainly be back.

A great option for a more upscale happy hour. Cocktails are delicious as are their appetizers. It is also great that they keep HH going until 7 pm. Service is friendly and good and the ambiance is warm and conducive to conversation. We enjoyed it.

Interesting environment great bartenders with good drinks. Especially good for late night situations.

Ok..this place is located in the heart of the new cultural district. As a matter of fact, if you are a people watcher; you will not be disappointed. Great selection of French dishes, French cocktails, French hors d'oeuvre. Eat there, walk next door for a cup of coffee at the corner coffee shop and you will have a memory to talk about among your friends and family. Very nice place to relax, have a absinthe, or their specialty cocktails. Dress code is mixed, but I would at least be dressed in causal attire.

This is a hidden gem but yet always busy. It has a great menu and one of the only places I know that specializes in absinthe drinks (even for the faint of heart). Their mixologist is always wandering around and will find the perfect taste for you if you don't know what to drink. Its a fun adventure in dining!

The chef brings to the table what I think is the best of French cuisine. The honest kind, not the pretentious kind. The menu brought back my best food memories from my home country, with some exciting twists. I had a hard time choosing, but ended up ordering the rabbit dish in cherry sauce innovatively delivered in a crêpe. I imagined for a fleeting second asking it in the chasseur sauce, having hesitated with the Veal chasseur, but of course the chef knew what he was doing. The cherry sauce rabbit was amazing. My wife had the Veal milanese, which was also perfect, just like the crème brûlée we had for dessert. Péché is also an incredible cocktail place; we were on happy hour and the cocktails were super cheap. This is the place to be for absinthe, even though I stuck to my favorite Dark and Stormy. I loved it. The whole place---food, drinks and premisses---has a great retro vibe. They found a table for us immediately on a busy weekend night, and the staff worked their socks off throughout the evening. I don't know what more to say. Congrats to the whole team at Péché!

Wonderful restaurant in downtown Austin. Mixologist are great....tell them what you like and dislike, and they make the drink for you. Food interesting and good.....ribeye a bit over down ....boar great....cassoulet needed a bit more salt and too dry...pork chop great, best of all our meals. A uneven dining experience. I say go and enjoy.....fun place....

Let me start off by saying this is the most expert bartending I have seen in a long time. Our Bartender Chris (Japanese/Scottish Chris) was very informative as to what whyskey had no corn in it. And gave me an excellent cocktail with the utmost patience and professionalism. The French Onion soup was perfect! Savory and a nicely rendered stock. I had the smoked Turkey openfaced sandwich with the fried egg on top. Very different, turkey was nicely smoked, in whole this was a satisfying dish.

Great place to try a wide variety of French grape and Swiss grain absinthe. All of our plates and drinks were perfect thanks to our knowledgable server. All in all a wonderful evening and a perfect atmosphere to take friends to.

Exceptional dishes and pre proabition drinks. This intimate gem is located on 4th in the heart of the entertainment district. Great place for delicious eats and uniqely crafted cocktails.

Peche has a Texas-size bar that blurs the senses - so many bottles that you'll never get a "sorry, we're out of that" from your server. An outstanding variety of cocktails, most of which you never heard of. But what about the menu? It more than matches the drinks in variety and class. The server comes around and asks "everything taste o.k.?" "Super" would be a better way to describe the Peche experience. A Texas-size bistro, elegant without being fussy. Casual.

Atmosphere- trendy, dark modern Drinks: so much variety, bartenders really take pride in their work, amazing cocktails Food: tasty, full of flavor, 4th time going and always get something different- popular choices: mac and cheese, escargot, salmon, and the hamburger you really can't go wrong! Awesome happy hour mon-fri 4-7 and all night sunday and monday. with a small group of people, pretty easy to get a table during happy hour. 5$ drinks and half off of food with asterisks.

I know it's a bold claim, but this place is in the same category as some of my other A town favorites. The bone marrow is the best I have ever had and the muscles...omg. Cocktails are a work of art, service impeccable and the restaurant itself is romantically rustic. We will come back again and again..with friends.

I was hoping it was just the poor service from our ineffective server, but the food couldn't even carry the night. Unfortunately all three burgers were severely overcooked, the duck confit was very dry and the only decent entree was the short ribs. Couldn't rate the pasta dish as they served the wrong one and it wasn't to the diners liking, despite true hunger. (rightfully, this charge was taken off the menu) Had the waitress presented herself more often to get drink orders and reassure us that the food was on its way it might have helped. 7 VERY hungry people, no bread, no hey sorry for the wait. And then to add insult to injury, my husband paid the bill and didn't see that the Happy Hour Pricing wasn't reflected on the bill for all the appetizers that should have been half price. I seriously suggest not wasting your time or money here as it is highly overrated. With 3034 restaurants in Austin go enjoy truly good food and service elsewhere.

The food and atmosphere were very nice. We had really good service and really convenient location. I would definitely go there for the drinks. So if you are looking for something unique then this is your place.

The young bartenders were very knowledgeable about their craft cocktails and spirits in general. Happy hour offers about a dozen cocktails for $5 and some of the appetizers at half price. We spent a few hours there on two afternoons/evenings of our trip and ate at the bar on one of the two visits. Food was good; but the bar was set awfully high by the bartenders and their drinks.

We were looking for some "good" food late at night. So we choose Peche. My husband had the ribeye (with pommel frites, that is french fries). Should have asked for a better side. The steak was excellent- well seasoned. I had a tenderloin. It was huge!! Coveted with a semi-glacé that was awesome. The sides were appropriate for the fish - creamy mashed potatoes and green beans. Staff was attentive. Only local brew served. Would definitely return.

I went to Peche with friends. When I received my credit card statement I was charged $100 more than the cost of our meal. I called twice and sent two emails without any response from management. I expect a top notch restaurants to be ethical and responsible. Keep your receipt, which I did not, and be careful of this organization.

Came here on a whim with my husband, grabbed a couple drinks on happy hour at the bar. They were wonderful! Caer (I think this was her name, it was unique), was SO helpful about the surrounding location, answered our drink questions, and was so friendly. They have a huge selection of cocktails, so if you like cocktails definitely a must! They only have 1 beer so don't visit if you're only a beer drinker. Also, next door is a little venue so you can hear really good music at a quieter level (since it's through the wall). Definitely recommend this place!!

One of my favorite restaurants in Austin! Excellent cocktails, delicious and great service! Love the atmosphere and the bar is one of a kind!

We stopped in here for a night cap - really neat place. A superb collection of whiskies and we had a very knowledgeable server. I had the Vieux Carre - and it was prepared perfectly. Others had the Adult Milkshakes - quite tasty - but you only need one.

A very good place for dinner or have a drink. Very well decorated and original dishes. The waitress's attention was very solid. The only observation is that we went without a reservation and the person at the reception treated us in a distant way and placed us at the last table, with little view of the place and the people. We imagined that all the tables would be reserved, but that was not the case since very few tables were occupied throughout the night. Although they could have placed us better, they did not do so, which reduces my evaluation by one point.

About a dozen or so of us went for dinner and drinks on Saturday night. We were happy with the expansive bar selections. Although we were gravely disappointed with our food. The angus tendorloin was tough, the ribeye was extremely fatty and had no flavor, the wild boar was way overcooked, but the steak tartar was delicious. The atmosphere was fantastic and our server, Shelley, was great. When we come back to Austin we will likely come back...but, only for cocktails.

Attentive service, excellent cocktail and wine selection, only 1 beer choice. Adult clientele, not full of 20-somethings. Didn't dine but the food looked well prepared, will eat here when we return to Austin.

The service at this restaurant was amazing. We were not familiar with many french dishes and the server helped us navigate a drink to match our taste as well as a fantastic meal. Loved the decor inside with beautiful chandeliers and a huge bar. Our cheese board was spectacular and the Short ribs with mashed potatoes was perfecto! We also had the Bouillabaisse which offered so much flavor and seafood that I could not even finish. We will be back so we can leave room for dessert!

You know when you walk in and everything seems off? It starts with the lackadaisical hostess. Then you wonder why you're being led all the way to the very back when there are plenty of open tables. And actually, come to think of it, why ARE there so many open tables at 8:00 on a Saturday? And then you sit down at a cheap, non-descript granite table and the hostess puts down a laminated menu and a piece of cheap printer paper with the specials. Someone comes to take your drink order and when your drinks come (you order two classic cocktails that your'e excited about), they're just sort of perfunctory. Isn't this a cocktail joint you wonder. That's when you really start focusing on the music. It's disco. Why is it disco? And you look around and the disco music makes you feel like people should be having a good time, but really, everyone looks sort of miserable. Particularly the staff. Someone new comes to take your order and you order a kale salad (which ends up being pretty tasty) and braised shortribs. Your mother orders steak. When the entrees come, a third waiter drops down two cheap white diner-style plates with little fanfare. Remember, your entree was something like $30 and your mother's over $40. Your mother enjoys her steak. But she also agrees the whole thing is off. And your short rib? Eh, serviceable bordering on pretty good? Mom tastes it. Nope, not pretty good she declares. Grab the check and get out of there.

Dinner was awesome. Started with escargot with I think a pesto sauce. Then had the duck breast with polenta and braised rabbit. All the cocktails were amazing.

Not sure what all the fuss was about. Our experience was low to average "French" food. The food did not seem very "French" to us. We ordered the recommended dishes from the waitress, the Lamb Stew was average that was the best we can say, the salad was basically lettuce,...a hint of dressing...that's it. Yes, that was it....nothing else. A mistake? Perhaps,...but someone plated it, and served it knowing it was pathetic. If you into a cramped dining experience with your elbows touching the other patrons, and the waitress tripping over the feet of your chair every-time she tries to make her way through the restaurant this place is for you. The waitress was stern, cold and overworked. All business, no hospitality. She was doing the best she could to survive the crowd and the hardest working person in the establishment...She can do better somewhere else. They are lucky to have her. Its colorful, busy, noisy, and jammed in. The food however, is average, and if anyone from a French area dined here it's my opinion that French cuisine is not how it would described. Go if you want to people watch, order a drink and maybe fries,...be prepared to talk to the people you are with by yelling in their ear.

Good restaurant! Great meal, pleasant environment, good service and fair price. Very well located. Worth visiting!

Five of us had dinner here and the food was very good. The waiter was fun to talk to and helped us out with some of the menu choices. Extremely busy and crowded - make sure you have a reservation!

Best Wine List in Austin. Loved the Baker & Brain Pinot Noir, fantastic little spot. The Mac N Cheese was exceptional, my date got a seafood dish of clams and other shellfish which smelled phenomenal. Definite must if you're a foodie.

Loved the food! Creative, cutting edge and delicious. Enjoyed the fried pigs ears, home-cured and made charcuterie plate, and the Duck Cassoulet in a cast iron serving dish...Great service and a place you want to return to to try everything else on the menu!

Great restaurant for dinner, well-crafted cocktails, and/or appetizers. Our group tried the lamb loin, the halibut, and the wild mushroom and rabbit crepes - nobody was disappointed! Our server treated us warmly and efficiently. Nice wine list, with many French selections. Cocktails were delicious, and the restaurant features many varieties of absinthe. Tables were comfortable. Also, many people sat at the bar to enjoy a cocktail and their meal.

I was staying in downtown Austin for a conference and decided to try out this place for dinner one night. The main draw at Peche are the cocktails. I'm not a mixed drink person really, but I ended up having a drink made with ginger beer, lime and rum and it was very tasty. I watched the bartenders make other drinks, including one involving a Chartreuse-soaked twig of rosemary set aflame in the glass, with the liquid ingredients then poured over the flaming rosemary -- they are doing some next-level stuff here. They bartenders were super-friendly and conversational and you could tell they were truly having fun. I had dinner also, starting with grilled octopus for my app and short ribs over mash (one of the more popular dishes) with roasted mushrooms for my main; everything was delicious. It was a Thursday night and the place had a pretty relaxed vibe and was not packed. A fellow from Philadelphia who was also there on business struck up a conversation and we ended up chatting for an hour or so. A really great experience all in all.

Stumbled into this excellent restaurant and immediately noticed an expansive bar with several pro bartenders. Had several well constructed drinks. They have a specialty with Absinthe. The food was awesome with several braised pork and beef cheek dishes. The chop with fig was top notch. Will definitely return.

If you are looking for great food with experts trained to offer a large diversity of creative cocktails in the heart of Austin, Peche is your place.

Interesting food and venue. Very lively. It's in an old building in downtown Austin. Comfortable for all sorts and conditions of customers.

French restaurant without the stuffiness of a French restaurant! It had a more of an upscale pub feel! Had the best mussels of my life! Even though they were a little small… the sauce made up for it! Coconut habanero!! So so good!!! I also had the oysters on a half shell and a variety of cocktails! My friend had the quail which was stuffed with peaches and goat cheese! It was to die for! Service was great and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and what cocktails paired nicely with each. He was busy with a large table and not once did we rushed when asking him questions or when trying to decide what to get! If I’m ever in Austin again I would definitely go!

After a light dinner in a nearby restaurant place we went to Peche for cocktails since it was happy hour all day Sunday. A significant number of cocktails are $5 and there are also some dishes at 50% off. Good deal. We had a number of cocktails in the party. I had a Saturn that has gin and passion fruit. You cold certainly taste the passion fruit. However I found that the drink had too much ice and somehow felt "small" My companions had gin mule and whisky sour. They liked tem For finger food we had pommes frites that sounds better than french fries and mac cheese noodles. Both snacks were generous and well done. Specially the mac cheese that seemed prepared from scratch. Service was a bit confused as our order got "somehow" lost in the bar.

Peche has a great atmosphere and their bar area is quite nice. I got a cocktail which I was very happy about. For food, I got the tuna carpaccio and the escargot, and found them both to be salty beyond my tolerance. I don't like it when restaurants add excess salt to make food more flavorful. The flavor should come from a variety of spices and be balanced.

We were bar hopping and this was recommended by a waitress at our previous place. The bartender was very welcoming and created drinks based upon our taste and they were perfect spicy margaritas. The bar has a very cool vibe. The pommes fries with the homemade ketchup was so good, had to get 2 of them and the Mac and cheese completed the late night snack.

We have tried something new every time, and kudos to the brilliant chef! Now the bad news, the bartenders range from fabulous to "you are lucky that I am paying attention to you". Not impressed with the service as a whole, servers are loud when they are not attending people. A real turn off to what could be a very classy place.

This establishment is a rarity and well worth a Visit. Absinthe Paradise. If you have never had it This is THE place. We began with two different absinthe cocktails. " Ernest Hemmingway's Death in the Afternoon" and Absinthe prepared the " Traditional way ". Larry comes over to explain the history of absinthe and to answer any questions. Nice touch. Amanda our server was delightful, attractive, professional and proficient. Appetizers: Escargot with garlic butter was delicious. Charcuterie board with assortment of tasso ham, rabbit liver mousse, duck prosciutto etc. were both amazing. Glass of Red wine from Tuscany with Entrees. Entrees: Bones & Frites , Roasted Marrow Bones with Pom Frites cooked to perfection with an egg sitting on top, with a special utensil to dig out the soft marrow . And Texas Wild Boar Ragout with creamy Polenta. A hearty portion of tender, large chunks of succulent boar in tasty memorable ragout and large dollop of polenta on top. I mean Wonderful ! Total : A very reasonable $117.00 for two. With tip $35.00 , $152.00 and worth it !

We were a group of 4 adults in Austin for a long weekend. We are lovers of well crafted, unique cocktails. Peche was perfect for us. A huge list of absinthe is available along with a long list of pre-prohibition cocktails. A cocktail lovers delight. We also had dinner here. Quail with polenta was delicious and the owner was very helpful selecting a wine that paired perfectly. Great, intimate setting in an old warehouse - made me feel I was back in New Orleans. Valet parking $10 made it all the easier to enjoy this evening.

Dinner date with my husband last night. We enjoyed the ambiance of Peche, the efficiency of the server/cooks, and the taste of the cocktails (Vodka Martini and the Dark & Stormy). However, the food was nothing to write home about. With names like "Chicken Fried Lockhart Quail" and "Vital Farms Deviled Eggs" we were expecting food to be very sumptuous, but it fell short. We also had the Escargot, and the Croque Madam; the food was not bad, but was just rather plain - we added salt to everything (and we are not huge salt eaters). Even the pommes frites were a tad overdone. This place has huge potential to succeed, but someone needs to give the flavors a boost. They had good happy hour pricing on selected foods and drinks.

Long bar, old converted building with high ceilings, like Old Austin, but a packed long bar and excellent food. We enjoyed the spicy devilled eggs, a nice cheese platter, and a terrific sauteed foie gras with grits with a tasty sauce including blackberries....perfect complement to the sauteed foie gras. Small but very reasonable wine list. Absinthe jars and ads. Totally casual. In the heart of downtown, so close to all the convention hotels.

With all my trips to Austin how in the heck have I missed this place? If you are a fan of craft cocktails, go nowhere else. Seriously. I ordered the Manhattan Club. Best ever Manhattan and this is from a serious Manhattan drinker. Given I was alone a seated in the rear on the restaurant in full view of one mixologist I got to see him in action. A serious professional. Three best ever drinks. Good thing I was walking... Now for my dinner. Perfectly seasoned and medium rare cooked Angus 10 oz tenderloin. I mean perfect. I don't say that often. Exceptional grilled carrots. Beyond those two were the star of the show: truffle mashed potatoes. If I had to choose my manner of death it would be by over eating these with a shovel. Beyond description. I could care less now about all the other places to eat in downtown Austin. I've found my favorite!

They are amazing with mixing drinks! I don't drink mixed drinks often so the owner took me through a series of questions to determine which drink might be a good one for me and it worked! Then we had a hamburger which was excellent! It's an awesome place that I'm sure you would enjoy.

Came here for for drink and appetizer before heading out to dinner. Hard to fine places that serve Absinthe so we gave it a whirl. HOUSE ABSINTHE ROUGE was excellent and hit the spot. Interesting layout with 8 foot solid liquere bottles that needed a later to reach them all. (see pic) We split Steak Frites Au Poivre with Filet Mignon and Pommes Frites was very good however food was luke warm when it was served. Barkeep wanted to send it back for us after a few bites we could not let it go. Place is dimly lit good for late night rondevu. I will be back for a night cap next trip to ATX.

This is the single best bar on the planet. And I can prove it. I counted nearly 300 kinds of liquor on the massive wall of booze behind the bar. The bartenders are masters and can mix anything you've ever heard of. My personal choice? go during happy hour (4 to 7) and ask for a Trifecta. If you do, they'll know you know me. I invented it. I won't even tell you what it is, but go doing happy hour and there are a couple dozen cocktails for five bucks each. Get three of them (get it yet?). Then order the burger or the greatest mac an cheese on the planet for half price and stumble home with a big smile on your face. Love this joint. OK, my name is actually on the back of one of the bar stools. I've been there a couple times.

We sampled at least five different cocktails at the bar: French 75, Nonino Cup (very heavy on the muddled ginger), Willet Old Fashion, Cucumber Gimlet, and Texas Mule. Willet Old Fashion and Cucumber Gimlet were our two clear faves. Awesome ambience. Everyone went onto dinner after our cocktails. We will have to try the mussels next time.

Never disappoints- freshest food anywhere. I wanted Avery item on the menu ended up with food grad and a glass of sauterne then the sweetbreads on fresh ribbon pasta. Delicious!

We had eaten our share of Tex-Mex on this trip and were looking for something completely different. Settled on Peche because of the rave reviews and weren't disappointed. Every dish was exceptional. And our server was outstanding wish both service but also recommendations. Unfortunately we don't remember his name.

Stumbled upon this gem just walking around and SO GLAD we did. It was the Culinary highlight of our weekend trip. The Duck a l'orange was PERFECT and the flaming Rosemary Gimlet was a work of art. The staff absolutely top notch. I literally can't wait to come back and try a new dish.

I thoroughly enjoy the food at Peche. We like to go before concerts at the Moody or Paramount theaters. I love escargot and think it the best I have ever had. It is half price (as are a number of other items) during happy hour. The mussels and short ribs are favorites as well.

Went here with two colleagues based on a recommendation from Alyssa at the Westin bar (thanks!) and it didn't disappoint. Started with the Mac and Cheese. A delight. Classic Caesar salad for me and kale salad for companions - solid and hearty portions. I went with the braised short ribs and duck fat mashed potatoes (these are truly decadent and amazing). One friend had the lamb shank. The other the chicken. Both given thumbs up. Service was excellent. Only complaint would be the size of the four top tables- they are tight for three people. The set-up of the restaurant mirrors a New Orleans shotgun style bar/restaurant (likely leading to the tight seating arrangements)

We went here for some cocktails and this was definitely a great place to go. The place is small (narrow) and has a bit of an old charm to it. When you walk in you see a long bar that is stocked with shelves upon shelves of different liquors. The drink menu is fantastic especially if you like whiskey/bourbons, gin, and absinthe. The bar staff was very knowledgable. I do not like gin but was eying a drink that contained it. He told me I would love it because it was not a strong gin flavor. He was right, it was fantastic. Others in our group had some very hard to find whiskeys, and texas mules containing jalapeno.

I've been to Peche several times for drinks or dinner with friends. First things first: they make the best French 75 cocktail I've even had. Definitely have one when you go. As you can tell by the name (which translates to "Sin", by the way, not "Peach" :) , they specialize in french food. I can certain recommend the pommes frites and the escargot. Also, one of the few places in Austin to serve absinthe - although I haven't tried it since anise is the devil's seed. It's right in the middle of downtown Austin so plan ahead since you have to find parking. Good thing, there is a paid lot nearby. Or you can taxi over. It is one of the older converted buildings on 4th Street - all brick, velvet curtains, and no sound insulation inside. It's a little on the pricey side but try their happy hour if you just want to sample some dishes. Their service is excellent!

We went to dinner : Steak tartare Classic Caesar Niman Ranch Ribeye and this is a summary of our review. Quality of Products: Cons: The salad lettuce gave the appearance that it was not fresh Pros: Meat Mastery of flavor and cooking techniques Pros: Preparing the meat for the Stake Tartare The fries were just right The preparation of the steak is very good Cons: The cheese crust in the cesar salad although interesting, detracted a lot from the flavor Harmony of flavors Pros: The balance of ingredients in the Stake Tartare is excellent Cons: The cesar salad left a too strong lemon aftertaste that prevented you from enjoying the other dishes. The personality of the chef represented in the dining experience - We asked for sparkling water and it never came - I finished my glass of wine and they never asked me if I wanted more. - I pointed out to the waiter my problem with the Cesar salad and nothing happened. -- Very good cocktails

While the overall experience was certainly lacking, there were a few standout items that I will highlight in order to give the most balanced review possible. When we arrived we were greeted promptly by the greeter who was spraying windex on the plastic menus and cleaning them. First of all, maybe a better time and place to do this that 7pm on a Friday evening at the front door. Secondly, I was a bit taken aback that a place with entrees in the $30 to $45 range was using large plastic menus. Felt rather like a mid-scale chain restaurant. The server was polite and quickly brought large glasses of tap water. I usually go for sparkling, but there was no offer and she zipped away quickly after dropping them. We then ordered cocktails which, admittedly, were quite nicely prepared and presented. I ordered the curried cauliflower soup and the vegetable lasagne. My companion started with the steak tartare and then the mussels. He definitely came out ahead on both counts. The soup was perfectly....average. The spice was fine. It was served in a plain white bowl and was just over lukewarm. It would have been nice (1) hot and (2) with some texture. Some toasted croutons in the soup or crunchy bread on the side would be a nice addition. The steak tartare received rave reviews - he says it is the best in Austin and he would come back just for that and a martini. So, props to the garde manger chef for this dish. The mussels came in a coconut broth with a distinct Thai flavoring and were also enjoyed. Both the steak and the mussels came with 2 slices of crispy bread for dipping, etc. The vegetable lasagne is great in concept, yet came out too salty to enjoy. Both the cheese and the tomato broth were salty and played off of each other exponentially. I was able to eat less than half of it. I would have traded it out, but we were unable to capture the server's attention as she had several tables arrive close together. She did check with us right after the food was dropped, but I had not yet even take a bite, so could not comment. The service overall was an issue. She was very pleasant, just was dealing with perhaps a slow bar and several tables at once, including a 6 top. We had to ask for the soup bowl to be cleared. His empty tartare plate was taken relatively soon after he finished but nobody ever reached for my bowl. In fact, when the food runner came with the main courses, the empty bowl was sitting in front of me. She used the lasagne plate to push it to the side so she could set down the entree. We had to ask her to take it. The entire meal our empty cocktail glasses were there, even after the glass of wine arrived. By the end of the meal we decided to head out. We were able to flag her down for the check relatively quickly, which was nice as she was so busy. She took his empty mussels along with the payment. When she came back with the charge slip she asked if I was finished with my lasagne, as it was still a half-full plate. Should I have said something then? Yes. However I was really not upset with her, and did not want to wait for the kitchen manager to come out and discuss it. Would I return? If invited for a cocktail at the bar, sure. My colleague would for the tartare. Otherwise, there are better options for the $165 we spent for the 2 of us. (2 drinks, 2 wine, 3 starter courses and 1 main).

A great place with attentive staff, interesting and unusual cocktails - absinthe is a specialty - and scrumptious food. My shortrib with goose fat mashed potatoes and mushroom jus was just perfect. A very minor criticism would be the lack of vegetables on the side but this didn't detract from what was a memorable dining experience. Well worth checking out!

We arrived early for our dinner reservation and the the owner welcomed us. Since it was Happy Hour, we decided to sample some of the delicious cocktails. The bartenders were great, as was our server. The food was wonderful. The owner continued to talk with us throughout our visit to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. A great dining experience in a delightful atmosphere!

My husband and I love going to Peche and I recently figured out they make pisco sour. I didn't know they made it before because I had never asked and it wasn't on their drink menu, but it was amazing. Lesson learned: just ask. Excellent drinks made by excellent bar tenders. I can't comment on their food because I've never eaten here but from what I've seen, it's quite tasty.

I've been all over France, and the dishes we had were outstanding. Everything was executed perfectly. My boyfriend had escargot and the pot-au-feu. They were memorable. The Chateau de Brézé côtes Du Rhone was perfect for the meal. Rob the manager was very friendly and knowledgeable. He picked out our wine with dinner. We had an outstanding experience. I highly recommend it.

My wife and I wanted to avoid the frat row atmosphere of 6th Street and were looking for a quiet, upscale place. We stopped in Peche based upon a quick glance in the window. The inside has the vibe of a European wine bar and the bartenders were terrific. We enjoyed it very much and would recommend it to anyone. The only reason I did not give it a 5th star is we had reservations to eat somewhere else, but the food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled wonderful.

We dined here for the second time in a year for drinks and small plates. We loved it both times. For this occasion, we went here late after a concert at Moody Theater. We ordered the pomme frites and deviled eggs along with a Sazerac drink. The pomme frites portion was huge and could've fed four people. The eggs were delicious with capers and bacon. The is a great spot for unique drinks. The Sazerac was one of the best we've had along the Interstate 10 corridor from New Orleans to Austin!

In a city full of outstanding dining, this place is worth a visit on a short trip. The atmosphere is a combination of an upscale old west and chic drinks bar. But the food, the food. It's not everywhere that you can get veal sweet breads, which were firm-but-delicate, lovingly sauced, and delicious. My companion had one of the specials, a simple chicken dish that transported him back to France. We paired both with a Chinon recommended by the server and that Cabernet Franc made us glad that we avoided the temptation of the crazy wild cocktails list.

Downtown Austin is a mess. But, it's worth making the trek to visit Péché. If you are used to fancy decor, violins and snooty staff in your French restaurants - pull up your big-person pants and get ready for a surprise. Make reservations. This place is pretty easy to find, but parking will be a bit on the pricey side - it is downtown Austin. The public parking will cost you $7 or you can get valet service for $10. Spend the extra $3 ya cheapskate. You'll save yourself some worry. Make reservations. Once inside, the front staff are friendly and accommodating. But, spend a moment taking in the place. It is a relatively narrow, but deep, interior with all dark woods. Along the entire right (as you walk in) wall is the bar. Yes, that means the bar extends from the front desk to the kitchen - almost 100 feet - and the whole wall is filled with liquor bottles 5 shelves high with a dozen or more taps. The rest of the restaurant is intimate seating with relatively dim lighting - but not so dim you can't read the menu. There are oil candles on every table. The wait staff are also friendly and accommodating. The girl we had was also a bit flirty and funny - differing from the normal French style. We had a large party and she handled everyone with a smile, returned quick wit with quick wit and seemed genuinely happy we were there. Péché is an absinthe bar. Their variety of cocktails is unique from my experience. They can make the old standards, but this is time to live a little. Try one of the two dozen absinthe-based libations. You won't regret it...unless you want to try them all. Then, I might suggest a taxi or uber and take the next week off work. We had a variety of appetizers. The deviled eggs were beautiful to look at, but pretty average tasting. The escargot was pretty good - tasty and not rubbery. We even converted a couple of our party to them. But, the star appetizer was the Mac & Cheese. OMG - it was SOOO tasty. Could have been a meal and no one would have complained. In addition to the regular menu, there are daily special dishes. Try them. We had a couple that were not into being adventurous so they ordered burgers. They said they were very good. One ordered the Braised Rabbit and reported that they had expected it to be "gamey" but was mouth-wateringly good. I had the Duck Breast from the special menu. It was fabulous. Perfectly cooked just barely past a medium-rare with a golden brown skin and cut into bite-sized bits. Melted in my mouth and all the juices flowed with an entirely non-oily/fatty texture and the flavor of everything duck-ness. No one had room for dessert, so can't report on those. I highly recommend this place. It can get a bit pricey for those on a budget. Go on a Monday and they have happy hour all night long. Take your friends. Tip well - it is worth it.

If you enjoy moules frites, this is your place. The mussel sauce was habanero coconut. Divine. The frites could readily serve 6 people and were perfectly crispy and golden brown. Not those insipid shoe string type fries. Mushroom fritters with dill sauce were minced vs. whole fried but still crunchy tasty. $12 wines and champagnes by the glass. My husband enjoyed a couple $5 happy hour cocktails. Hostess and server were upbeat and welcoming. Great booth seating available. $100 for two including tip but well worth it. We will go again. And you should too!

Amazing food! Great Service! Excellent Cocktails! Absinthe is a must to try here! Even the owner checked in on me Nice touch. Will come back!!

Came here for dinner while we were in town for President's Day weekend and we were not disappointed at all. The staff was very attentive and kind despite it being quite busy for a Thursday night. We did make reservations beforehand to ensure a table. Even the bar was crowded! Good vibe and ambiance. The beer, wine and cocktail list was very good with some unique options. We got the scallops and stuffed quail as our main course. Incredible preparation and presentation and amazing flavors. Would gladly return!

We are from Northern California where there is no shortage of great restaurants and Peche matches any of them. The food was delicious and the restaurant is in a hopping and fun neighborhood. The owner visits every table, is accommodating and really cares about people having a good time. e has a kale salad that was big enough for three. The entrees were perfectly cooked and desert was scrumptious.

A must for cocktail lovers that want to experience something different from real mixologists. Great ambiance. Enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching all the different drinks being made.

After finishing dinner nearby, my group did a quick Google search to find the best cocktail bars in the city - Peche was top of the list, and just around the corner. I'd never been to Peche before, but during the course of SXSW, one gets a little tired of the beers on offer at events, and was particularly looking forward to sitting down and tasting something different - something a bit more refined and relaxing. I frequent a lot of cocktail bars (I don't know what that says about me), both in London and on my travels, and have close friends in the industry, and think I can discern a drink that has been made with an educated palate, and mixed with passion. Peche stands up there with some of the best I've been to. I'm a rum kinda guy, and although a Dark & Stormy is my favoured tipple, I first went for a Queen's Navy Grog (rum, rhubarb liqueur, lemon juice, lavender honey), which hit the spot. Light, but not too sweet. Then I went for the D&S, made with Peche's homemade ginger beer - and man, was that fiery! Caught my throat at first, but then, ZING! I was impressed by the menu, but too full to even consider trying anything, which only means a return visit is in order.

Have actually been here twice and the first time seemed better. Entrees are overpriced and very rich and heavy on the sauce. Bar has beautiful ambiance and bartenders are pros!

Peche not only has great food, it serves some of the best craft cocktails in Austin. Try the Fig Manhatten for a special treat. The mussels are always very good.

We dined at Peche on Friday evening. I had heard so many positive comments about this place so I was really looking forward to the experience with much anticipation. As a group of four we were somewhat disappointed. The drinks were fabulous so we assumed the food would be also. For appetizers we had mushrooms and bone morrow with fries so-so but nothing special. The entrees continued the so-so experience. I had the filet it was tender and cooked to ordered temp, but had little flavor and the potatoes were underwhelming. My wife has the scallops and said they were good. Friends also had the grouper and braised short ribs. The service was fair but we ordered Caesar salads and they were brought with the entrees with no apology. One of my pet peeves. Overall, not a great experience. Possibly a good place to be seen and go at happy hour. Austin has so many outstanding restaurants but in our opinion this is not one of them

From the gorgeous decor, to the friendly staff, to the great food... this place is simply amazing. Too top it all off, they’re also an absinthe bar and play a very cool playlist with very unexpected bands like Khruangbin & Pigeons. Peche is definitely my new favorite spot in town!

I was excited about going to Peche, I had heard a lot about it. I took a group out for dinner. I had the Bouillabaisse, which was I thought was modest for the price and pretty average. A friend had the rabbit which they said was dry. The charcuterie board was tiny. Of the deserts, only the creme broulee was notable. The bread pudding was very dry, and although a large portion, we left most of it over as it was inedible. I will note that the bar is exceptional, except the drinks are rather small and overpriced, however with an exceptional selection.

The atmosphere was great. The food was very delicious as too were the cocktails. My wife had the duck, which was cooked perfectly. I tried the rabbit crepes which blew me away. I hope to recreate that dish at home, but I am sure will not compare. The Fig Manhattan was awesome. My wife had the Tiki Beats, which she really liked. Not too sweet and the beat flavor was not overpowering.

I am still dreaming about the carrots and the duck was amazing! The service was great and they made every effort to accommodate my GF sensitivity. We will be back! Soon!

My wife and I chose Peche for dinner based on the reviews here. We were not at all disappointed. First, this is a true cocktail bar. We tried several different drinks, both classic cocktails and the Peche specialties. Each one was amazing. What I think sets Peche apart, is that they take as much pride in their food as they do their bar. I had the braised short ribs and my wife had the pork chop. Both plates were outstanding. The portions are reasonable without being overwhelming. Our server was more than capable, giving insight on the food and drink menu when asked. We took several of her recommendations. In short, in an area of town with no shortage of bars and restaurants, Peche is cut above the rest. We will be back.

What I found out was Péché is distinctly Austin's first absinthe bar, a cocktail program headed by bar manager Shaun Meglen, showcasing a selection of pre-Prohibition style cocktails and a curated wine list. The bartenders there are very knowledgeable & helpful as to what you may like to drink. Happy hour is all night on Sunday and Monday and 4-7pm Tuesday through Friday! My hubby tried the Red Fish & I had the Veg Special with Escargot & Smoked Salmon Tartare for our appetizers. We also sat at the bar & just had a great evening! Definitely going again!!

We ate supper here and I had the brandy braised rabbit. it was excellent. My husband had the pork chop which was also really good . For dessert we had a lavender vanilla creme brule which was divine. They specialize in cocktails as well and the maitre de was useful in finding out what would be preferable for each of us . All in all a wonderful experience.

A friend’s daughter recommended Peche and my husband and I loved it so much; we went twice in a single trip! We sat at the bar and didn’t have a wait on a Wednesday night for our large group who wanted to try a smorgasbord of cocktails or Friday night, when it was only my husband and me and we wanted a little food along with our drinks. The drinks were delicious and it was fun and educational to watch the bartenders do their thing. I had the grapefruit and crab salad. It was nice but not very filling as a main course. My husband adored his muscles. If we ever make it down to Austin again, we will absolutely go back! Meanwhile, I highly and enthusiastically recommend Peche for cocktails or dinner away from the kids. Fabulous on all counts!

We visited Austin for one night to attend a concert and were looking for an unique dining experience. Péché was ideal. We nabbed their final reservation time at 9:00. The layout reminded us a French urban restaurant with a friendly Texas vibe. Everyone treated us so kindly. The drinks were special, and the food was just outstanding. Starting with scrumptious esgargot, I had a pork chop with couscous, and my wife had scallops. Yum. The tarte au pomme was to die for. We loved the atmosphere .

This is my third review for Peche and this time they got it right! In our prior visits we felt we were at a bar that served food. This time we were having dinner and there was a bar in the space. We ordered a pinot grigio with our meal as we had a toscana with our popcorn at the Violet Crown. My date ordered the shrimp salad for her dinner while I had their caesar salad and the ribeye with frittes. My super fresh and crisp caesar salad came first while we enjoyed our wine and people watching. Then the shrimp salad for my date and my steak with frittes came together. Both salads were super fresh and not drowned in dressing which we find many places. The grilled shrimp was large, well seasoned and fresh. The ribeye was a classic cut, well prepared and garnished with a well seasoned butter sauce. The frittes were crisp and well seasoned. Dessert was a mini personal size coffee cake that was perfectly balanced with its butter and cinnamon and was topped with a scoop of coffee ice cream. The Americana coffee was the hot when received and rich in taste requiring no cream or sugar to enjoy. Wow, this was really a fun dinner choice for us and in walking distance to the Violet Crown!

Peche is a terrific place to go for first- rate cocktails and drinks in general. Just try to ask for something they don 't have - you'll never do it: they have or will make any drink you can conceive of! An atmospheric, fun and fascinating place to spend time with friends .

Friendly place, but a bit weird. We dropped in for a drink, and of course, they are out of their own Peche Pick bourbon. No problem, we asked to see a list of bourbons. It turns out that they do not have a list. The only way to see what they have is to go to the bar and squint in the dim light to try to read the bottles! They just do not seem that interested in selling drinks.

We went to Peche on our first evening in Austin and it did not disappoint. The ambiance is very lively. The restaurant itself is narrow and tight quarters. There were 4 of us so we decided to share the Mac and cheese and steak tartare, which were both great. We all ordered different entrees and everyone seemed happy with their choice. Our waitress was a little absent minded and forgot our drink orders a few times, but other than that, it was a great experience!

We had a great dinner here. I started with the poached pear salad and then had the foie gras with grits and the bananas foster for dessert. My husband started with the oysters Rockefeller and then had the quail. The food was excellent and it is a pleasant place with an interesting mix of crystal chandeliers and loft decor. The menu had so many wonderful options it was hard to make a choice.

I went out of my way to make another visit to my favorite restaurant in Austin. I stopped by for an early dinner and enjoyed the happy hour discounts on their yummy cheeseburger. The cheese soup wasn't as good as I hoped it would be, but the creme brulee was as good as the last time I was year years ago. Great bartenders too!

We enjoyed Monday happy hour with $5 select cocktails and half off select menu items. The mushroom fritters were delicious - creamy inside and crispy outside. We also shared the Duck Mac n Cheese - another hit. The ambiance is European french cafe with a huge selection of liquor and specialty drinks. Next time I want to try share the 1/2 burger also half off during happy hour with the duck con fit fries. We will be back,
I’ll dream about the steak tartare forever.
Best steak tartare I’ve had in my life. Solid drinks, attentive service, great recommendations. Entrees amazing. Wish I lived in Austin so I could eat here everyday.
