Very busy Mexican restaurant in DUMBO area

By PaulyJ201 |

The food was good, the service was not great. It's a DUMBO neighborhood restaurant. The decor is Greenwich Village from the 60's. The draft beer we wanted they were out of. It took forever to get a basket of chips. The service was going a little crazy waiting on the outside patrons as well as the inside. The food was good, but of course DUMBO is under the train tracks... it was our first visit to DUMBO, so felt we had to go. Oh, the restaurant.... well... if you are patient... and the tables inside were one on top of the other... probably outside would be better, but you will be seated close to under the bridge and across from a parking lot. Would not consider this a destination restaurant.

Fantastic

We visited on a Sunday for lunch and drinks. Good selection of cocktails reasonably priced. Excellent service and delicious food. Great atmosphere and themed decor.

Crazy little Dumbo joint for quick mexican

By MusicalTraveler |

Recently dropping into Pedro's for the 1st time. Can't miss it - it's right on a main corner and chock full of graffiti all over the exterior walls, plus there's a bunch of picnic tables for outdoor seating. It's very basic in terms of the menu and drinks, but it's just the great location if you happen to be in that area, plus the totally unique and groovy atmosphere and decor. It was a great night so we decided to sit outside, which wasn't too bad in terms of sketchy people and the stink of garbage that you might normally experience sitting outdoors in New York. There are occasional loud train sounds from the Manhattan Bridge which is just over your head. The service on the night I went was sub par, but it's not like I was looking for five-star dining. The guacamole was very fresh although very light in terms of flavor, and the pico de gallo was pretty good. I recommend the fresh squeezed margarita over their pre-mixed varieties. Prices were reasonable and overall It's a cool place to hang. Let me know if you found this review to be helpful. Enjoy!

Delicious watermelon margaritas!

By Bombomcitto |

This is a cozy place for a get together with friends or family. It is very small and usually very crowded but the food and the service are great. The location is pretty convenient near the F train York Street station and the entrance of the Brooklyn bridge.

Fun atmosphere and great food!

By Britt S |

The place is small and has lots of charm. Margaritas were EXCELLENT. Chips are well done, which I prefer, and the salsa is uniquely flavorful and a little spicy. The black beans are delicious, and my grilled jalapeños were perfect. My husband’s carne Asada tacos were excellent. Only one complaint: the salsa bowl they give you is tiny and we had to wait for several refills. Overall, very glad we found this place!

Great food, great atmosphere, great price.

By vixsta73 |

We loved Brooklyn, so finding this little gem topped the experience off. The food was great and so were the tequilas and the mohitjos

Dinner

By James C |

Great Mexican food. Try the tamales and the Pedro's appetizer it has a great selection of anything you might want to try.

Quirky, no frills, eclectic, authentic, but don't miss it.

By LeeLaura65 |

We had just walked the Brooklyn Bridge, starting at the Manhattan end and were dying for a beer so wandered around until we stumbled across Pedro's. You can't miss it as it hits your visual senses like a brick due to the bright colours and quirky ornaments outside. There are only about a dozen or so tables inside, and it's quite small so it has a very cosy atmosphere. The staff make you feel at home very quickly and the service is excellent. We ordered nachos as a snack with our beers and it arrived quickly, tasted great and there was plenty for both of us. If you want great Mexican food in an authentic bar, or just a beer to quench your thirst then this is a great place to do either. There is a subway station just up the road too so it's easy to get back into the city from there.

Dad and Son at the Ballgame

By CPad615 |

Dad and I went to the stadium today to watch the Yankees take on the World Champ Houston Astros. Great seats down the left field line. Houston prevailed behind the pitching of Verlander but still a great atmosphere in and around the stadium due to the winning tradition and the young crowd. The food is expensive and so-so, it's better at Citifield, but there is nothing like rooting for a winning team.

UK visitors have a week in New York

By Acer-1-8 |

This was a last minute find - a suggestion by our Brooklyn based host. we were a group of 7 and were accommodated really quickly after we checked by phone. The outside looked fantastic and lots of fun then the inside keeps up that Mexican party feel. Great music, decor and lovely food options. Our waitress was a joy. She showed interest in us and joined some banter - took a group photo for us. We'll do our best to come back but at over 3000 miles from home, it may not be regular

Margaritas!

By Melanie C |

Fantastic burritos and margaritas - basic place but the food and drink are outstanding! We were lucky to be there at the time Corona we’re doing a promo too - free beer tastes awesome!! If you are ever in Brooklyn, this is a go to place!

Good, cheap food

By Marilyn A |

Simple food but authentic in the middle of dumbo, a wasteland for food. The weather was nice so they put tables outside. It is noisy inside.

Good value meal

By Guy M |

A good value meal and a fun night out, specially enjoyed the Margaritas! Our server was very busy, but we had no difficulty getting our order and drinks. Lots of people in the restaurant and bar unwinding, its that sort of place.

Lunch in a little gem.

By MILLYDM |

Normally would walk past but so glad we did not. Very old and quaint but the food and service were superb. Definitely should go in. Give minute walk from end of the Brooklyn Bridge walk and a great spot to relax and recharge.

Bad and expensive

By Yoav S |

This is the worst restaurant I ever ate in in NY. food was bad and they charge for every little thing, we ended up paying over a hundred $ for a very disappointing meal. It's especially frustrating as there are so many good places around.

Quirky and Awesome!

By ST23 |

Stumbled upon Pedro’s while exploring DUMBO. Pint sized, and partly under the ground, but they make every inch count. Lots of locals, very authentic Mexican food, margaritas made with fresh lime juice, ‘real’ salsa. TVs in Spanish. Friendly wait staff who do not rush you.

Was there no dishwasher?

By Jim B |

Nice little spot in an area that could use a few more restaurants. We sat at the bar and got margaritas and they were served in plastic cups. They tasted fine and the guacamole was good, but again, served on paper. I will go there again, however, because the place is cozy and the bartender seemed like a nice guy.

Guaranteed satisfaction of all of your Mexican food cravings

By Jessica Tiburcio |

I visited Pedro's after having fun with friends at Beat the Bomb. We worked up an appetite and Pedro's was the perfect place! I visited Pedro's after having fun with friends at Beat the Bomb. We worked up an appetite and Pedro's was the perfect place! We did not make reservations, but the staff is very friendly and understanding. We were able to get a table for a group of 7 in under 30 minutes. I ordered the birria tacos. Other's around my table ordered the tilapia tacos, the steak with beans and rice, and the empanadas. We also shared calamari and nachos. For dessert, we had churros with ice cream and sweet plantains with ice cream. I would recommend EVERYTHING but the sweet plantains with ice cream. The ice cream was a hit, the sweet plantain not so much. The restaurant also accommodated two of my vegan friends. So vegan lovers are also welcome! Not only is the food great but the setting is awesome. There's music playing in the background while you eat/ The music is soft enough for you to speak with everyone at your table and loud enough for you to break into karaoke and sing along with everyone at the restaurant (which actually happened with us). At the end of our stay, we were able to write messages on currency and staple it to a wall display of messages written on the currency. I say this to say that I did more than just eat, I had an experience! It was a great night and I would recommend anyone who loves authentic Mexican food to visit when they're in the area.

Great mexican food

By Simon Keldermans |

The pitcher of margarita was big and good, and the food was delicious. We got a bit of everything to nibble on, and everything was great. The service was quick and friendly.

Great place to Stop in Brooklyn, NY.

By Lorelei P |

After walking across the Brooklyn bridge we found this little place in a comer with a few tables... we had the best Margaritas in town.. the lunch was very good.. we had the "Yuca Frita & "Chicharron de Pollo".. Your 1st impression when you see it looks like the place needs some outside repair, but the food and service is excellent... Don't miss it if you go to Brooklyn...

Cool place

By LAFAMILLEG11231 |

Cheap quick outside seating small inside but nice vibe and friendly service. Close to Bklyn bridge pk.

Córner neighborhood restaurant that serves good food at reasonable prices

By CPad615 |

Stop by this hole in the wall restaurant for some good food and drinks - were not disappointed. The burritos and burrito bowls were just right with the modelo beers. Rosa was on hand to welcome us and converse in small chat. She definitely knows Brooklyn. Would Come again.

Phone stolen from server

By George K |

My friend left without his phone from the restaurant. They went back 10 minutes after, only to find that the phone was missing and the server was flustered when he was asked if he saw anyone take it. After instructions from one of the employees, we left and we came back the next day to look at the security cameras only to get rudely rejected because the owner was not present. The owner was not present even after a few hours of waiting. I have no choice but to think that they did not want us to look at the cameras. VERY rude personnel, bad service and most probably some thieves work there as well

Hole in the wall Mexican spot with delicious and cheap food!

By Sara S |

Great hole in the wall Mexican spot while wandering around DUMBO. Delicious tacos and food that is also inexpensive. Fun interior with Christmas lights and colorful walls (+ low ceilings!) Def recommend for lunch or dinner. Highly recommend roasted plantains with beef/cheese...delicioso.

Not good

By ITravelAlot8 |

You can get better chips and queso at a football concession stand. Cramped dank lousy atmosphere, burrito wasn’t worth eating

Just OK.

By sbenhill |

True...it's a hole in the wall. And if you are in Dumbo and looking for a cheap place to eat, this might be for you. Drinks are reasonably priced. We ordered Queso Fundido--while the chorizo was good, it was smothered w cheese sauce vs real cheese. Taco combo was ok and the chicharones de pollo needed seasoning--so did the plantains. Go for the vibe, grab some cheap drinks and a snack--but there are many better places for a meal.

Lovely food, great Margaritas

By CarlGalvin |

We stumbled upon Pedro's after walking Brooklyn bridge (Manhattan to Brooklyn). This is a lovely, quality restaurant. we got a great table and the service, food and drinks were excellent (as were the decorations). The place was full and we got talking to a number of people and got some great tips for our New York holiday, this really does sum up how much of friendly place Pedro's is.

Great Mexican food in Dumbo, great prices.

By davidcapstick40 |

We visited Pedro’s on our last evening in DUMBO, as it is a few 100 metres from the apartment we were staying in. We love Mexican food and this did not disappoint. Mofongo with shrimp was superb, and so was the shrimp enchilada. The Margaritas went down well too. It was extremely busy, so took a while to get our food, but that did not matter. Highly recommend Pedro’s - great food and very reasonably priced.

Eh...its okay.

By DenaNechama |

Very very loud so sit outside if possible. Not a good place for strollers or wheelchairs if you need to go inside Prices are good ; food is so-so. We didnt order drinks.

On a Budget? Give it a try

By Abraham V |

I visited twice and I've been satisfied both times. Also both times its been packed. Drinks... Excellent spot for strong and well priced drinks during happy hour. Pedro Sangria is great. Food.... i would say the flavors are more Puerto Rican then Mexican but rice is rice and a Burrito is a Burrito. They aren't reinventing it just offering a well prepared good tasting dish. This place is homey and the staff and owner are amicable... Great spot if your on a budget.... like to drink and are in the DUMBO area... They offer outside sitting in the summer and a short walk from the ferry.

Not That Good

By Heather Rosetta |

I went with a group of people, and we chose to sit outside. The resteraunt wasn’t to clean, but it wasn’t too bad. The bathroom was not clean at all, it was very dirty, small and run down. The food was alright. One of the people in our group is vegetarian and had asked for his food to be without any meat. When he got his food, he found chicken in it, so he sent it back and asked for another one. He got a new one, and it also had meat in it. I would not recommend eating at this resteraunt.

poor food, poor drinks, so and so service

By valeriacarteri |

We were in a group so we ordered different food and drinks: nobody liked the drinks, just one of us said his sandwich was ok. A friend of mine ordered a cuban sandwich and the waiter brought him corn (after a long time); my friend asked for the sandwich he ordered and the waiter told him, extremely annoyed "oh, you still want your sandwich ah?". Half of the things listed were "not available". It took forever to receive anything, even if the place wasn't totally crowded. My rum and coke was flat and super sugary; my friends' cocktails were not any better. Oh and btw, my friend had to pay for his unwanted corn...

Great spot!

By Raul P |

The staff is welcoming and very friendly. The food is so tasty and fresh. This is great Mexican in a "real" spot. Nothing fancy, just a clean, lively, and fun place to have traditional Mexican.

Craving Salsa

By Michele C |

We were looking for salsa/snack in the late afternoon. Stopped in here, a very small restaurant on the corner-it did have outdoor seating but we sat inside. The AC did not work well and they had fans to try and cool diners down. Ordered the guac and salsa, was disappointed, the guac wasn’t freshly made and the salsa was a thin red liquid- no chunks of tomatoes or onions or cilantro. We were hungry so we ordered the chicken salad to share-which was better than expected because of the appetizer. Service was very slow for such a small space that was not full. I would not return or recommend.

Not as authentic

By Jordan M |

Was recommended to go here by a Puerto Rican friend who swore the authenticity. When we went the food portions were smaller than she experienced previously, drinks were overly sweetened, and the prices were typical NY prices.

Take Out

By David B |

Good margaritas but the bartender didn’t hear clearly enough of what I ordered. Had to return a “bag of chips” as I ordered the Super Nachos. As I returned, a group of 6 walked out as they weren’t even approached for any order. They gave me salsa free. Service needs improvement.

Great Mexican food and a loud restaurant

By עידו ס |

The place was really crowded and loud but the food was great, the service was fast and staff were very friendly. Once you get used to the noise it actually adds to the atmosphere. The Mexican decor and Mexican music also adds to the experience. I would definitely go there again when I revisit dumbo. Try out the margaritas!

OMG....YUM!

By Officially_LynetteLashawn |

My wife and I was in the DUMBO area for Essence Style Block Party, as she covered the event for work. After the party we decided to hightail it on over to Pedro's and boy are we happy we did. The drinks and food were delicious and the prices were not bad. My only challenge was sitting arrangements, but we made out just fine. We will definitely return and bring friends.

Close to Brooklyn Bridge

By LJZWI |

Close to Brooklyn Bridge. Walking distance to parks, coffee shops. No free chips & salsa free at this location. Food was okay.

Mexico to-go

By David B |

Took food to go, but 2 margies at the bar. Outside dining was packed and loud inside. Being 6 ft 3 in., I practically bumped my head on their ceiling. Took awhile to get my food, the bartender didn't offer a shot since the wait was long. My burrito was shaped more like a cone then a tight pillar. A lot more emphasis could've gone into in. Gracias

Out Of The Way Awesome Find

By Steve T |

We spent the day helping in bottling at Kings County Distillery; we were hungry. A few blocks away we came across a visual storefront and building mural and said..why not? So glad we did. The place is small and tight but don't be dissuaded... its is inviting, friendly and comfortable. The menu is authentic, the food is cooked in view and served in an appetizing way, the service is non-stop and the cost easily within the range of a moderate restaurant. My wife had the Fish Taco Combo with an amazing house made chipolte/mayo sauce; I went with the Carnita Taco's Dorado , which I highly recommend. The bar is eclectic in appearance and manned with an able mixologist. As that we go to Kings County often... we most definitely will be back.

Stale chips, watery salsa, plastic cup margaritas?

By wisconsinlady |

I'm not a picky person by any means. We stopped at this place for a snack. The location and the outward appearance lured us in as we enjoy fun, out of the ordinary places. It was very busy. We ordered margaritas, chips and salsa and would have ordered an appetizer but last minute decided against it. It took forever to receive our standard margaritas. I was surprised that they arrived in a plastic disposable cup given the fact that this was decorated as a fun authentic restaurant. The taste was standard margarita. Our chips were stale and the salsa was watery. I can handle all of this given the fact that I'm on vacation and living with experience. I do have to say that I was quite shocked to receive a bill for nearly $60 for four drinks and the one basket of stale chips. While on vacation, this was my least favorite eats. :-(

Hole in the wall delicious Mexican in Dumbo

By SFDutchman |

Pass this place every time I walk from the York Street F subway station down the street to the Brooklyn Roasting Company and nearby entrance to waterfront park under the Manhattan Bridge. Decided to opt in for a quick Mexican lunch awn wasn't disappointed. Special $6 pork lunch plate came with rice and black beans. It was the best pork plate I've ever had for $6 !! Also gad the chips, salsa, and Guac ($9). The salsa was excellent (not watery) and with a kick! Service was good and friendly by Fabiola.

Great place for cocktails

By Matt N |

We only had cocktails here and they were good although 10 dollars each. We got smashed. The staff were good fun and friendly. And we sat outside on the benches and watched the world go by. Good atmosphere here. We chatted to lots of other people and had drinks with some. Didn't really go inside so only 3 stars as can't really rate the food etc but good fun and great atmosphere. If you want to find a place that looks like a shack but serves a great cocktail, go for it here

Welcome respite in Dumbo

By Andrew K |

Vinegar Hill House was across the street from where we were, but it was 20 minutes to opening, so, rather than ask us to sit and wait -- with a drink? -- we were directed to Pedro's, three blocks away. Too successful, I guess. We went to Pedro's, and decided we could skip Vinegar Hill in the future. At Pedro's, my wife and I enjoyed Shrimp Tacos, the Spinach Burrito, and two Mojitos -- everything was fine, and service was fast, with the tab, including tip, under $60.

Neighborhood Gem!

By Melissa G |

I moved to the neighborhood a few months ago and I keep coming back to Pedro's! Despite the rough exterior riddled with graffiti, Pedro's is a gem. The food is excellent, the drinks are strong and the staff is always attentive. Whenever we have visitors this is our first, and usually last stop. Gran Electrica is nearby, serving up slightly fancier fare. But why pay West Village prices, when the food is just as good at Pedro's! Don't sleep on the carnitas tacos, that's all I'm saying.

Best Mexican Food in Brooklyn

By Claire M. M. |

Absolutely delicious! Wish the side Guacamole was bigger portion. Otherwise great staff! Good prices! Flan was Delicious!

Spanish and Mexican ñam ñam

By KiwiGen |

After strolling around Dumbo by the Brooklyn bridge we can across this bar. We had a couple drinks at the bar which were fantastic but didn’t try the food. No air con at this place but we were quite happy just to get out of the sun. I got probably the biggest jug of sangria I have seen on my life which I was able to share with two others, the boys each got a beer/margarita which they were all very pleased with also. Fast friendly service and good music can’t ask for much more.

Ok Mexican Food

By JBrackett-Nashville |

I ate here with friends this past Saturday night. It's a quaint neighborhood Mexican place. They had some unusual stuff on the menu including mofungo, which I thought was cool. I got nachos with carnitas which were ok/pretty good. Service was nice, and I liked the whole-in-the-wall aspect, but it was just so-so.

Small, eclectic, and cozy space FABULOUS MARGARITAS!

By Skych8ser |

This "hole in the wall" joint was a great find for a thirsty couple. We had already ate dinner so this was just a margarita stop and I must say well worth it! The bartender who I believe was John Jay, is not only friendly, but knows his tequila and how to mix up a proper authentic margarita. I look forward to sampling the food, which looked great, on my next visit.

A fun place for some Tex-Mex food

By alanbently64 |

This is a great little bar that does decent Tex-Mex food, and has a great atmosphere. Two of us ate the burritos and chimichangas and they were great, one had a veggie burrito which was a bit small and less tasty than the meat dishes. A reasonable selection of beers too, though I'd avoid the white wine. A young people's bar which had a great atmosphere even on a Tuesday evening!

Delicious

By Helen D |

Quirky restaurant. Cheap food but tasty. Good service, staff were attentive but not too overbearing. Lots of selection on the menu

Local cafe

By turbokat |

Nice atmosphere, food was fine. Nothing special, but value for money. It is more like a bar with eatery. For example there is an atm in the restaurant area as well as 2 tv’s. But we liked the local touch and enjoyed our food and especially the cocktails

Good place to get Latin food near Brooklyn Bridge

By cberru |

We found this nice, small, but homey family owned restaurant as we walked towards around the Brooklyn Bridge area. The chicharron de pollo was good and the mofongo. I did not really like the quesadilla that much, but their latin food is good, they have several menu choices to satisfy everyone's taste. Fast and friendly service.

Great Bar!

By offyoupoptravel |

Stumbled across this place whilst in Dumbo and found a little gem of a bar. Great drinks and a cool atmosphere!

Big crowd bad food

By beeakid |

We arrived on a Saturday night. The place was hopping so we thought it has to be good. Total hole in the wall look. Unfortunately so was the food. The meat was dry and the beans tasteless. The hot sauce was the only saving grace. I put it on everything to help with the taste. They have no waiting seat list. It's a total free for all. Too bad the 30 minutes we waited to sit (we had to guard or spot) and the 30 minutes to get our food was not worth it.

Too bad

By Relax598937 |

Food overpriced and tasteless , not fresh. service bad and agressive for tips. Open bottles with chlorine tapwater on the table with plastic cups and staff is not interested

Sometimes you're desperate and you find a winner but sometimes you don't

By StVital |

Got lost coming off the Brooklyn Bridge and took awhile finding our way in this area of Brooklyn. Pedro's was the first place that we came to. It was too hot to sit inside so we decided to sit outside. Beer was cold but the food was bland and served on paper plates. We thought it was a a real dive when the busboy cleared everything off the tables into a garbage can, empty beer bottles included. Table behind us had been there before so they weren't there by accident. They seemed to be ordering a bunch of favourites to share and were really looking forward to their meal as opposed to us.

Quick, casual, fun and delicious

By Zerosixzero |

It looks on the inside just what it looks like on the outside - slightly lopsided and creaky, but with that unmistakeable smell of fried meats and a greasy-table, low-celinged atmosphere which just can't help but appeal to the hunter of a quick and casual hearty lunch in a friendly-grungy atmosphere. It is highly recommended.

Great place. Amazing food

By Laurakatie |

Great place. Amazing food and the drinks are a little sip of heaven. Stumbled across the restaurant as we were sightseeing, and pooped in as we didn’t want a “branded” meal- and we were not disappointed. Thank you so much

Bloody expensive and not fair.

By Laurent V |

When ordering classic margarita the waitress convince us to choose diplomático rhum then we moved to mojito. First mojito was very good then second one was different and not good at all, différent color too, dark. At the end à crazy Bill : 220 dollars without service for 10 mojitos and two small bowl of guacamole with tacos.

Great mexican

One of my favourite restaurants in new york. Just by brooklyn bridge with amazing food . Afterwards take a walk down to the river for spectacular views of manhatten and the brooklyn bridge.

Incredible Atmosphere and Great Food

By Diving9773 |

What an atmosphere this place had and we went on a Monday night! We were only meant to have drinks but then got tempted by the food. And we were glad we had the food which was really good, so slightly surprised at other negative reviews - we must have got a good night! :-)

Quick Cocktail Midday, But No Stars-------

By bbbob84 |

Stopped in for a cocktail. Place was rather empty being midday and midweek. Bartender was rather disinterested that I was there. Staff for tables were full of smiles and accommodating, but I wasn't there to dine on this particular day. Got my Tito's Vodka Tonic and consumed it rather fast as I wasn't feeling the customer service here. Maybe if I am back in the area I may consider dining here since I appreciate good Mexican food. Not a great first experience.
