I was searching for 'crispy peking duck' like I would get in the UK and this is apparently number one in Houston. After reading lots of reviews I called ahead and reserved a table and a duck (apparently they run out often). Yes, the place could be doing with a revamp and it's in a crappy little strip mall but the food was great. A huge serving of peking duck with pancakes, hoi sin sauce and scallions which was delicious, we also ordered the salt baked shrimp (shell off for the boys who don't like peeling), stir fried green beans and stuffed buns from the appetizer menu. The only thing we didn't like was the duck soup that accompanies the duck but the three of us were so stuffed we didn't care. You have to wave down the staff - don't expect 'how is everything' and free refills but who cares when the food was so good.

Order in advance for the duck and come prepared for a treat. If you are really adventurous the "chinese only" menu is worth checking out. Everything is great, come with as large a group as you can so you can try EVERYTHING!

The Peking duck here is not very flavorful but you mask the taste once you add the hoisin sauce and the scallions n cucumbers. The rest of the dishes on the menu - you get better tasty food from other restaurants in Chinatown. And the cold dishes (appetizers) are better than the entrees. Order from the family menu where you get to pick a # of cold dishes w the hot and that is very reasonable. However that menu is all in Chinese but the staff is quite accommodating and will assist you. Not too memorable of a meal. But you get your Peking duck fix.

We came in for a late dinner (about 8:30ish) and the place was getting SLAMMED. Good thing we'd reserved a peking duck ahead of time. Service was naturally a little slow given that there were about thirty other diners (in a bit of a cramped space). But only slow by Chinese restaurant standards - we couldn't have waited more than 15 minutes for our food to arrive. Food was good; the duck was convincing - not as good as the best I've had in Beijing, but still authentic-tasting. The highlight for me was the duck soup, which is honestly one of the better one's I've tasted. I think they start a big pot of duck soup at the beginning of the evening, so by the time we arrived it was extremely flavorful. I think the soup is definitely an afterthought at most Peking Duck places - they just toss the duck bones in some broth and boil for five minutes. I approve of this restaurant's approach. I can't speak to the value for the money because another member of our group paid. But it seemed like an excellent, affordable peking duck restaurant overall.

In terms of quality, authenticity, and price, Peking Cuisine is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Houston. I am a regular here for lunch or dinner at least once a week. I always call ahead to reserve a Peking Duck. Many of the other items on the menu are well prepared too. There are too many to name, you just got to try them! Like a previous writer said, come to this place with as many people as possible so you can order and try as many different dishes as possible! This is one of few Asian places in Houston that DOES NOT price-gouge their customers to death. You actually get good quality food for a very acceptable price! The decor is bland and the service is on par with any decently run Asian place. But that is fine as long as the place is decently clean, the food is awesome and the bill will not burn a hole in your wallet. In fact, I usually take home enough food for my next meal.

We were here twice, both official government gatherings, so the food was especially delightful and pre-selected. You should order the Peking duck the day before, as it is a whole meal! Duck Soup, Crispy Duck, Duck rolls, truly authentic Chinese and amazing. A small, very Chinese restaurant in a small strip center, off the SW 59 Freeway at Gessner so it is quite convenient. They do have two private rooms that must be reserved in advance, they can seat 12-20 in those rooms each. They do have a good wine list and a varied Chinese menu. Only about 18-20 tables in the main dining room. Spec's is in the same shopping center if you want a special wine, they will serve it for you, with a small corkage fee. Truly a trip to Beijing, and you will possibly be the only 'round eyes' in the restaurant (if you are western), so it is a real treat!

Lived in Beijing 5 years and ate Sichuan food often - this is every bit as good as over there. Sichuan food is typically spicy - not like the sweet Americanized food you get elsewhere. Absolutely great food - especially like the boiled spicy beef with lettuce, sichuan chicken with red peppers, fried rice and hot and sour soup. Tremendous value too.

I have been here numerous times. Everytime it is excellent food. The duck is the best in town. I love the duck soup too. But we also love the fatty pork meat and the small appetizers to start the meal. I haven't had a disappointing dish yet.

Excellent authentic chinese cuisine--you definitely have to try the duck!

This is by far the best Peking Duck we have ever had. Plentiful and delicious and served hot with a big bowl of soup.

Don't come here for the atmosphere come here for the food! I have been eating here for over a year and it is always very good. We arrive in large groups (6-15) and they accomodate us each time. We order unique dishes chef specialties and excellent everytime.

12 courses from soup to sweet bean buns were excellent! There were 12 of us of all ages. The huge fried shrimp were the favorite, but the steamed fish, the beef, and the peking duck ran a close second! Service was fast and efficient and we are looking forward to a return visit!

I've been here twice. The first time the food was simply outstanding. We had shrimp fried rice, sesame chicken, and some chicken with veggies. All were great. The second time was okay - the fried rice was very good, the sesame chicken wasn't very crispy - not sure it was done as well as I'd like, and we had this beef dish that was so-so. We did have steamed dumplings that were very good. But since the first trip was so great, we'll be back!

We have had family events here in there big room the food here is excellent. Be sure to call in your order for Peking Duck in asdvance since they can sell out.

We tried to count the number of times we have been here for Christmas lunch, but could not agree whether it was 6,7 or 8. Our dozen friends have been with us during various years and a few new ones this year. Of course it is the Peking Duck and this year we had THREE of them for the hungry people and 8 additional dishes including the not to be missed "Special Fish", which is a whole fish in a wonderful, just spicy enough, sauce. We had a great time and everyone was happy with the great dishes. Some of our friends like relatively plain food, some like it a bit spicy, some more spicy. There were no complaints from anyone and many were surprised how much they liked things they ordinarily would not have ordered. You can go here in small groups too, but the more people you bring, the more things you can try, so round 'em up and bring 'em in.

We went for lunch on the first day of Chinese New Years. The restaurant is in a nondescript strip center, but inside it was clean and updated. It was also packed and energizing with the mix of Asian and non Asians enjoying the holiday. We ordered the duck dinner. It was $36 and could easily have served four people with a side order of spring rolls and a vegetable. It only came with the rice paper, shredded green onions, hoisin sauce and cabbage soup. The duck was quite moist and tasty. It was served sliced and boneless. The rice papers for wrapping, though, were not the best I have had. They were a little gummy. But still, I highly recommend it. But call ahead to reserve a duck!

Always very good food and super fast service. I try to come here at least once a month with friends and family. Today happened to be a meeting. They offer about 15 specials on the lunch menu. Today I had the sesame chicken, hot and sour soup and an egg roll. Very filling, excellent flavor, highly recommend.

Most authentic Sichuan style Chinese food I’ve found in the U.S. Had the ma Po tofu, spicy chicken and boiled spicy beef, absolutely tremendous.

This time we had some friends in from Europe that had no idea what Peking Duck was and were very unfamiliar with Chinese food in general. We knew we should take them here. We reserved the duck and reserved our table in advance which is always recommended. We were pleased to see the new the results of the new remodeling. Nice and fresh and very attractive without going over the top. We had the duck, some lamb, a whole fish, spinach, and of course the green onion pancakes. Our friends needed some instructions in what was going on with the duck, and some forks, but once they settled in they loved it. So did we. The service was fast and friendly as always. The prices, as always, are extremely reasonable. In the past our friends loved to go for barbecue and other Texas dishes but I think Peking Cuisine will be on their list for their next visit.

We arrived close to closing time. Staff served us well. There were 2 vegan friends and good options to choose from. Good ambiance and interiors. No fortune cookie 🥠☹️

The Beijing roast duck is exceptional. You have to order ahead or else they might be out. Also the fatty pork meat is delicious. The food is very authentic and tasty. Highly recommend as a Chinese person.

I went to Peking Cuisine with some Chinese friends of mine. We were celebrating his birthday. We were in a private room off to the side. We had about 15 different dishes that were served family style. It was VERY tasty. What I liked about going with my Chinese friends is that they ordered things that I would never have though about having. So, I tried lots of dishes that were new to me.

My last review of Peking Cuisine was ten years ago! I stopped in over the holidays to pick up a large order of take out. The quality of most of the food has improved. I ordered the Three Cup Chicken Wings, Eggplant with Garlic Sauce, Yang Zhou Fried Rice, Jellyfish with Garlic and The Peking Duck dinner with soup. My favorite was the eggplant. Then the Chicken. The fried Rice was very well made with plenty of ingredients. Surprisingly, the Peking Duck was a bit on the dry side. The soup that was included was good but a bit on the peppery side. But still delicious. I am very impressed that after so many years, the quality of the food is still so high. The portion sizes were very generous and the prices are all reasonable.

Came here twice for lunch while on business in the area. Once I had a lunch special which was good. By the way, "spicy" means VERY spicy, so don't order something spicy unless you mean business. The second time I visited with a friend and we ordered the Peking duck. It also was good. I wished that it had the tiny thin pancakes instead of the flour tortillas. But the duck was very tender, and it was a lot of food for the two of us.

Try to come here for lunch every month since it is close to work. Greatly enjoy the lunch specials. Cup of soup (4 types), choice of rice, and a large filled plate of an entree. This time I went with the moo goo gai pan chicken entree, brown rice and hot and sour soup. Two can dine for lunch for $15 + tip.

Located near HWY 59 and China town, it's a really good Chinese restaurant. Food is authentic. Peking Duck is highly recommended. The place is always crowded. Tip is included in your bill.

The service was very and the servers were very attentive and helpful. But the food was greasy throughout. I had a lamb dish, my husband had the chicken. It was okay. However, my son loved their shrimp fried rice.

Have always gone for dinner. The lunch was excellent. Hot fresh food. Portion are huge. Will be coming when in area. Veggies and food made to order

We went with our Christmas group and enjoyed ourselves again. We had the Peking Duck, of course, and some wonderful lamb, beef, rib, and chicken dishes.

Amazing Chinese food. The Peking duck was incredible and it comes with a soup. It was soooooo good that we almost finish the whole thing (there were just the two of us). The Dan Dan noodle was good and the spicy pickled vegetables was just ok. I would definitely want to come back just for the Peking duck!!!

We went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. I would judge it as "Village Style" - Large portions, reasonable price, so-so quality. The fried dumplings were thick-skinned and soggy. They ran out of Peking Duck, so we could not try it.
Great food
We were in SW Houston for a soccer game at Houston Baptist University and looking for a quick place to eat. We picked Peking Cuisine because 1) it's a mile from HBU; 2) great TA reviews; and 3) when in (or near?) Chinatown, eat Chinese food! Located in a nondescript strip mall on the SW Freeway feeder road and from the outside would barely catch your attention amidst the glitzier signage of the competing Indian and Vietnamese restaurants next door. But at Peking Cuisine, it's what's on the inside that counts. First the food was excellent. Our Szechuan chicken had a nice crunch on the outside and hint of ginger served with a mountain of chopped red pepper. The neighbors duck looked beautiful so we'll get that next time. The service was also excellent and the server helped us with smart recommendations, attentive service and expert packaging of our to go box. Best of all he got us out quickly for the soccer game. If your on this side of Houston for a soccer game or just for some terrific Chinese food Peking Cuisine will exceed your expectations.
