We try to hit a triple d restaurant every time we travel and we were in the mood for mex-tex ... Overall it was a nice local restaurant very good food and reasonably priced .. If I were in the area, which we were, I would definitely go to it again..

This place appears to be a family restaurant so it doesn't have the modern touches but that your franchise Mexican places typically have. But there food was delicious. I came with friends and order the pollo al mojo de ajo and it was amazing. It wasn't your typical Mexican dish. It reminded me more of Puerto Rican food. I was still happy when I left. I'd definitely come back here.

Amazing food, atmosphere, drinks and staff. Sandy and Pedro, the chef, are the owners. Both of their kids, Alex and Lauren, work there as well. They just celebrated their 30th year in Deep Ellum, quite an accomplishment! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The Botanas platter is a great way to start, an assortment of their signature appetizers. The margaritas are a must, the best in Dallas. My favorite Mexican restaurant ever!

Highly recommend the fried taquitos & tacos nortenos!! So delicious! Good service, plenty of seating & great chips/salsa.

If the hot sauce and chips suck I typically do not want to eat at the place. I was with my boyfriend who loves to eat here and it was my first visit. The hot sauce was pureed except for the onions. There was a strong flavor to the hot sauce, some sort of jarred spice I could not place (tasted that the rest of the day). Chips were thin and good. My boyfriend ordered a steak taco and he said it was perfectly cooked and moist. My order came out quite different then the menu description, which is so annoying when they change up the ingredients, even the prep of the food like you wont notice. I sent my food back and it came back with raw vegetables instead of grilled, same plate and now everything was cold. Sent back again. It was somewhat fixed, still not to match the menu and the lady said they would have to change the menu. Strawberry margarita tasted like Robitussin. Mango margarita a little better. We had at least 3 servers helping us, always confusing. Place was not very busy at 11:30am on a gorgeous Friday afternoon. Parking in lot next door is $3 and they want your license plate written down or they tow since they don't have legible numbers on the spaces, we left and found street parking, which is very sparse in the area.

Decided to try this Tex Mex spot in Deep Elam. We were not disappointed! The food was wonderful, we especially enjoyed the flautas and quesadillas! The fresh squeezed lime margarita was the bomb! Ice cold beer, great service and phenomenal food. We will come back!

Haven’t been to a deep Ellen in forever but had some time and decided to go. Saw some great reviews here on it and came down. Started off with a margarita, small but strong!! And some beef quest. Not much beef but was tasty. Not very spicy for my taste but I just added in some jalepanos. Set on the patio and even though it is still early, 8 pm, it is alive and kicking here. I would come back here no problem.

The food here is very good and it is to some degree a change of pace in flavors from other typical tex MDX places. We paid a few bucks to a machine to park in the lot next door. Had a nice table looking out at the street. It is a roomy place divided into several rooms. All of the people that work there were very kind and attentive. I had the Tacos Nortena with the chipotle wine sauce. Chips and salsa and guacamole all good. We came here after going to the Dallas Farmers Market to try new places. It's a long drive from our neck of the woods. They do have beer and the food is flavorful for sure. It's worth a try if you're nearby.

Got here at 5:30 pm on Thursday. Seated immediately. Great chips and salsa! Wonderful! Our waiter was great. Our food came lighting fast. We had chicken fajita nachos and Pollo Chipotle. The nachos came with tons of cheese and chicken on them, guacamole sour cream and pico. Delicious! Huge plate. The Pollo Chipotle came with a tasty salad, rice, refried beans, grilled vegetables and a large chicken breast covered in a smoked spicy fantastic sauce with a touch of heat. Everything on he plate was delicious! The atmosphere was great! The only problem was $10.00 parking. Definitely worth the trip. It exceeded my expectations and I love Tex Mex! The margaritas were also very tasty!

Wanting to experience a Diner, drive-ins and dives restaurant and found this a great example of a good place. Great homemade flour tortillas, guacamole and enchiladas. Chips great and good salsa. All around fun place to eat!

At this restaurant they definitely put the Mex before the Tex. Located in Deep Ellum this place serves some of my favorite Mexican food. The salsa was some of the best I ever had and the homemade chips were warm and not over salted like many places tend to do. The service was also friendly and very attentive. I started with the albondigas soup which was basically a Mexican version of matzo ball soup. Beef and vegetable patties served in a beef broth with potato carrot and onions. The soup was well seasoned and full of flavor. For my main meal I had the chimichangas with queso sauce instead of ranchero sauce based on the waiter's recommendation and it was definitely a good choice. The shell was nice and crunchy and the meat was delicious. Definitely check this place out!

Food is awesome!! Great flavors, tacos are out of this world. Drinks are excellent. Love the place food and cocktails

The enchiladas are the bomb! My hubby always gets the beef ones and I always get the cheese ones. Perfect TexMex! Everything else is good too, but you just cannot go wrong with the enchiladas. Great premium tequila margaritas with fresh squeezed lime juice too!

Best Mexican I have eaten flavorful and outstanding from appetizers to dessert also full selection bar to enjoy and enlighten your taste buds very reasonably priced and Service was right on can't wait to go back

No wait, EXCELLENT service, and the B E S T Tex-Mex food I have had. EVER! Everything homemade/handmade (incl. the tortillas!) and delicious!!!!!! Pepe&Mito's is definitely one of my new fav.s.

We had dinner here while on a business trip. There was a wait; so we decided to just eat at the bar. Everything was really tasty. I often judge how good a meal at a Mexican place by the chips and salsa - they were great so I knew I was in luck. Everything very fresh and service with a smile. Plus not very expensive. What's not to love?

The menu items were expansive and the food very good coupled by attentive servers. The menu offers a broad taste of Mexico, but the most appealing are the not as common dishes such as Migas, Chilaquiles and Guiso. The flavors and spices were spot on and the well balanced with a healthy level of spiciness. The chips and salsa were fresh and the staff was continually checking in on the table. Planning on returning.

We had a group of 5 and had great meals ranging from the shrimp to the steak. Recommend. Won’t break the bank and a bit of a hole in a wall.

If you want the real stuff it's here. We all loved it. Great taste and not too spicey. Will definitely go back when we get a chance.

I had seen great reviews on this restaurant so decided to try it for an after appetizer/HH at another restaurant. I order the Albondiga Soup (omelet like patties filled with a delicious mix of carrots, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, mild peppers and ground beef in a seasoned broth) which I had never had before. Actually never seen before. It was good, interesting, very different from a chicken tortilla soup but it was good. The chips didn't seem authentic - had a store bought taste and the salsa was too spicy for the average person. Service was great and they have Negro Madelo on draught. Love that. Good place. Not sure why I had to pay $5 to park next door when only about 10 cars were in the lot...but what do I know. I'm not from Dallas.

best tex-mex in dallas. service are very good. i ordered a huge fajitas and it was one of the best i ever had

Great staff and I will return with the family soon. I had to test it out first! ! I approve. I drive for uber ams have picked up for customers.

I've been in Dallas a long time and have a few favorites for Tex-Mex. Just went to Pepe's & Mito's for the first time...it's now in the rotation. Shrimp enchiladas, tacos al carbon and beef tips were great. Look forward to my next visit.

My daughter wanted Mexican food since she has been eating hospital food! I found this little restaurant and it was great great food!!! The mole enchiladas were outstanding along with the taquitos and we finished with the sopapias that were amazing!! Looking for Mexican in downtown Dallas this is the place to go!!!!

Pepe & Mitos is a little loud, but the food is terrific, bar is great and the staff is friendly. Its a super Mexican menu and the Albondigo soup is to die for. I will go for that alone...but the rest of the menu is really tasty and Pepe's serves great, COLD beer! Try it!

We randomly walked into Pepe & Mitos while on a walk around lunch time. The staff was friendly and helpful. I like anytime I’m treated with home made chips and salsa right off the bat. The guacamole was good as well as our tacos and enchiladas! Drop in when you can.

Chips and salsa were great. I think they have one of my favorite salsa’s I’ve ever had. Drinks were great. The service was fast. The taco meat and enchilada meat sauce was a little odd tasting to both me and my boyfriend. We continued eating. We got back to our place a few hours later and we both got immediately sick at the same time. We have never had upset stomachs from Mexican cuisine even when we were IN Mexico! We must have had a bad batch of something as we were up all night doing the worst you can imagine. We were sick all of the next day as well. Everything went down well but it did not come back up and out well... I don’t know if we can blame the restaurant or not but we wouldn’t want to risk it again. At least not for a while.

First of all, the place was packed so we knew it would be good. Although they were busy and packed, the service was outstanding! Any time our chips or salsa would start to get low, they would be topped off with more fresh hot chips and more salsa. Same with drinks, they never went empty. We had chimichangas which were awesome. My wife had tamale combination platter and she loved it! Cannot wait to go back to Dallas so we can eat here again!

this is a great place to eat and have margaritas, the wait staff is fantastic, all of their food is wonderful

Family friendly menu, everything was fabulous, guacamole was fresh and fabulous.. Don't let the outside scare you away, nice Tex-Mex style restaurant when you pass thru the front door.

The food, the salsa, the service...really good. But the sopapillas are where it's AT! We weren't planning on getting any dessert but then our server recommended them, and oh man! So good! Growing up in South Texas, I know my way around some Tex-Mex. Definitely give this place a stop.

If you are looking for delicious Mexican food, this is the only place that you need to know about in Dallas. I have been dining here for more than 20 years and have never had a bad meal here. Food is always delicious. I recommend the Tacos Nortenos or the shrimp enchiladas - but honestly, it doesn't matter what you order, it will be delicious. P&M's is casual dining and easy to dine here with my family. Love it!

Went here after leaving the piano bar. My wife and I ordered the sampler platter. Everything on the platter was good. The chips brought to your table initially were warm and not salty. The salsa was good although it was somewhat spicy. Reasonably priced. Will patronize again.

We chose this restaurant based on the trip advisor reviews and we were not disappointed! Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere!

Our family of 5 arrived on Christmas Eve, 45 minutes before their closing. We were welcomed in and immediately given waters and 3 baskets of chips. I Loved that all 5 of us were given our own salsa. Our waiter was extremely attentive. Food arrived in less than 15 minutes and was incredible. If we lived in Dallas we would make this our #1 Mexican Restaurant.

Went there for lunch with friends while running errands after seeing the place on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" TV show. Certainly a fantastic find, and one I plan to revisit soon, as the food was terrific and service matched. We had the Steak fajita tacos and pork enchiladas with a green tomatillo sauce; both were especially good and the tomatillo sauce was the best I've ever had. Warm chips with a great salsa with a cold tap of Modelo started us well, and a GENEROUS side of fresh guacamole complemented the meal. As Arnold Schwarzenegger-Terminator says: "I'll Be Back!"

If you're visiting Dallas this is one of the known favorites. Good food, margaritas, close to night life with live music within walking distance. It can get very busy on the weekends but usually not a very long wait.

Overall we enjoyed our night at Pepe's and Mito's Mexican Cafe. The restaurant is definitely no frills and nothing special in terms of decor. But the food and drinks are good and cheaper than you can find at most other similar restaurants. I would skip the queso if I came back, but my fajitas were great and very filling. And the drinks were very good and we were (nicely) surprised that they were only $6 on a Saturday night. It's in a fun area of Deep Ellum too, so it's fun to walk around the area after dinner.

Hands down the best Tex-Mex/Mex-Tex I've ever had! The food tasted so fresh!! I'm sad that I won't be able to find food like this at home.

The salsa and chips were outstanding and are served as you sit down. Service was fast and good. Lunch special(carnitas)) was big enough for two lunch portion of fajitas was large, served hot and prepRed well

All five of us enjoyed our entrees and each had something different. Green tamelas (pork with green sauce) was a big hit.

Enjoyed a nice dinner here while visiting family in Dallas. We started with lots of chips, salsa, and guacamole. The guacamole is amazing and they give you quite a large serving! We had a large party and everyone ordered something different. Everyone enjoyed their food, and thought the margaritas were very good as well!!!

We came here for lunch with some business associates. This place is located in Deep Ellum, and is surrounded by historical buildings. The restaurant itself features several tables and at least a couple of rooms. There is definitely a feel of a cafe. We were seated quickly. The menu provided many choices. I went with the special, which was a brisket taco. The meat was excellent and the sides were also very good. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and mine is attached. While the view was great, the smell really gave it away and had the mouth watering before you even dove in to this delectable treat. The portions were very fair. I am not sure, with the chips and salsa that were excellent, how anyone ever does dessert. The service was excellent and we wanted for nothing. The place does a pretty good lunch business, which says something give the store's competition. Highly recommend!

Have been eating here for years, and have yet to have a disappointing experience. The Chipotle Enchiladas are so good, with just the right amount of heat and flavor. Plus, I’ve never met a bowl of chips and salsa I don’t love! Highly recommend!

The service was great, the sweet tea slaps! The food comes out quick and hot! It very affordable and my kid loves it. They also have the absolute best sopaphillas, I have ever had, you didn’t even need the honey. I will be back a lot, the owner came to the table and she was even more amazing! Thanks for the awesome experience!

Our business is here for the State Fair of Texas and didn’t know there was such good food & service close to Fair Park. We will be back for more!

This was my first time to try this restaurant and our experience doesn't make me want to rush back. It took a long time for our waiter to take our order and then our food took even longer to arrive at our table. There were 3 of us and we all ordered normal items with no crazy special requests or anything. The food was good, but nothing special and was a little overpriced in my book. We finally asked another waiter about the status of our order about the time our waiter finally came out with it. He never apologized or even acknowledged our long wait. He did bring out sopapillas with our food - I suppose as an apology for the slow service. I had asked for grilled veggies instead of beans and I was told it would be an extra charge which I wrongly assumed would be minimal. It was a ridiculous amount charged for a small amount of food, but I didn't complain.

I tried this place after seeing it on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. It is definitely worth a visit. I got the Tacos Nortenos and they were superb! Everything is so fresh and full of flavor.

Pepe's is located in a quaint area of Dallas with multiple restaurants and bars. There is limited street parking and paid parking lots next door and across the street. Pepe's has a great comfortable feeling when you enter the restaurant. There is seating in a covered patio area, at the bar, and plenty of dining room area. The service is friendly and fast. The menu has many of the traditional items and some items that have been developed by the Chef. My spouse enjoyed sizzling chicken fajitas, a house specialty, cooked to perfection, served piping hot. I enjoyed another house specialty, pollo al mojo de ajo. the wine sauce over the chicken was fantastic! There many more specialty items on the menu. The quality of the food the portion sizes served are we worth the cost. Enjoy!!!

Great food with a good typical Mexican atmosphere and service. Food came fast and servers were very nice. Satisfied with the experience!

Located in a very artsy, cool area of Dallas, this Mexican food restaurant is heaven! The food is delicious, authentic, very affordable and serves nice portions. The decor is funky cool and very comfortable. The staff is super nice. Go, eat, enjoy!

My hubby and I cannot get enough of this place and use it as our “celebration” place. Today marked his halfway journey through radiation and he still feels like eating his favorites…beef enchiladas, rice and beans. Probably every waiter in the place knows what he routinely orders. Ha! Ha! They know mine too…cheese enchilada, crispy beef taco, charro beans and the “garnish” which is a very tasty little salad with delicious dressing and crispy tortilla strips. Of course, the highlight of each celebration is Alex’s Patron margaritas. I wish that we could take him and his margaritas with us on our next beach vacation!

Had lunch there one day very good food. The prices are good they had specials also. Fast service food came out hot and very tasty.

We were seated quickly, a waiter took our beverage order soon after we were seated and brought chips and salsa. The chips were fresh and crispy and salsa was average. My skinny margarita was very refreshing and not too sweet, just enough lime juice.. I ordered spinach enchilades and they were very good. The price was reasonable. The decor was clean but very basic. I would go again.

Had a late lunch. great food and service. Fluffy rice! Great quality! The salsa and chips were so good! We will plan to make this a regular dining spot when in town. Lots of meter parking in the area. No coin needed weekdays before 6.

Maybe I'm biased--I've been a semi-regular diner for almost 20 years. But I'm just going to put it out there. This is the best cheese enchilada in the Western Hemisphere. And since they don't actually have cheese enchiladas in the Eastern Hemisphere (I've never had one in Poland, anyway...), that would make it the best cheese enchilada anywhere. This place is not a fine-dining establishment. It's kinda divey, but it's clean and comfortable. Good bar, so you don't end up waiting too long for anything you might need. The service is usually pretty quick and good--and the owners remember their regulars. These guys do it right, and that's why they've been around so long...

We went for dinner and had the best food. All 5 plates we ordered were cooked to perfection. Fermin, our waiter was quick and accommodating. He was super helpful when needing to decide what to order. We will be back when we visit again. Only downfall is being downtown and having to pay $14 to park.

We saw this place on Triple D and decided to try it. I had the Tacos Nortenos and my husband had the Pollo Al Chipotle. They were both great! The chips, salsa and queso are great as well.

My wife, son and mother-in-law ate here recently. We don't live in Deep Ellum and always get concerned about trying to find parking. This was no problem! A parking lot right next door made it simple to drop in. We passed a number of restaurants we consider really good on the way here. This was not our first time here, but it was the first time for Brunch. It did not disappoint. We started with the Albondigas - which is a really flavorful meatball soup from Mexico. My mother-in-law and wife all had excellent meals too, but for my picky 13 year old, he said he found the best crunchy tacos and has been asking to go back! I had an awesome egg and machaca dish, which is a dried beef. I loved it too. They don't have the best tortillas in Dallas, but they are ok. At least they don't taste store bought. We will return for brunch again! Enjoy!

Trying this place out good vibe small but not as small as most say in the other reviews. The parking is not the best but it's Deep Elum, all parking there is tuff to find.Food is good and service is great, not all in your face for sure. Loud but in a good way feels like an open street resturant because it is. Check it out if you are in the area

The food was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed the tacos carne asada and have never had it so good. All our sides, cheese dip, guac, etc. etc. was fresh and made to order. The chips were thick and good quality, the salsa has just the right amount of kick to it. The server we had was quiet, but very attentive. I would give this restaurant 6 stars if I could!

Restaurant was very good and service was excellent. If I ever get back to Dallas I will definitely eat at the restaurant again

Saw this place on DDD and had to stop in during Dallas visit. Service was fast and friendly. Beef fajitas and chicken taquitos were very good.

I went there for lunch on Friday 02/08/2019. It's a good spot to go eat some lunch with co-workers. The only thing that sucks is having to pay for parking. Other than that the food here is good and it has a good environment. Great servers that are very attentive and speedy service. I would come here again for lunch on any regular day.

Family run restaurant that uses on family recipes that call for only fresh ingredients. This place gets plenty of repeat business.

Without a doubt. Bar none, the best casual Mexican food in Dallas. If you like to travel and ask "where do the locals eat?"... This is your place. We have been coming here for years. We used to live down the street and would go multiple times a month. We still make the trip, just not as often. They are famous for their shrimp enchiladas. If that's your thing, get it, but IMO, it's not the best food on the menu. You can't go wrong with beef fajitas and charro beans. Enjoy.

Kudos! To the owners, managers and staff at this great Mex/Tex & Tex/Mex Deep Ellum establishment! My hubby and I are regulars, however we live in Rockwall so during the last few “shelter in place” weeks it was not very practical for us to order take out like many Dallasites could and did. We went into the restaurant to dine on the patio this past Wednesday. I LOVED the idea that they were NOT handing out hard copy menus and had a sign posted to view the online menu. GREAT idea! The tables were spaced very safely and met all guidelines imaginable. Everyone was wearing a mask (except the customers eating and drinking, of course). Everyone working here was constantly cleaning and did a great job in between customers. I felt very safe. The food and drinks and service were as fantastic as ever! See ya next week!

Good fresh food. Street taco and chimichanga. Guac was fresh and sides were just as good as main dishes

This was a good local place in a really cool neighborhood. It's in Deep Elum which is full of cool restaurants and bars. We enjoyed walking around after we ate our really good food in a relaxing restaurant.

The restaurant was featured on DDD which drew us in. It was a good meal and worth the stop. I would recommend stopping by.

Food was delicious; however service was too slow, that is why there was a line at the entrance. We waited a lot to be taken our orders, waited a lot to have our meals, and waited a lot for payment. We had our dinner outside, but still our clothing smell food when we left.

We come to Pepe's once/week for lunch. I love their food. The lunch menu has something for everybody. Also check the daily specials on the chalk board when you walk in. Thursday Top Shelf Fajitas, so good! The servers are super nice and attentive. The chips and salsa are fresh and tasty. I've had their enchiladas w/regular sauce and with chipotle wine sauce, both are amazing. The chipotle wine sauce is different, but quickly became a favorite over the sour cream sauce. Their fajitas are really good, the tortillas are some of the best I've had. Leave room for their homemade sopapillas!

Always a great place to meet friends or family! Great lunch specials! Easy parking and friendly service! Close to downtown and easy access to highways!

Been many times, always reliably good fajitas and enchiladas. Very laid back. They make you feel like family. Good service.

If you need a really cold beer, some great mexican food and a little Deep Ellum atmosphere, Pepe & Mito's is totally the place to be. Food...always GREAT. Service..always great. Beer...always COLD!! Try it!

We all enjoyed our meal. Everything was good. Everyone was happy with their meal. It's fun building too.

In town for the Zac Brown concerts at Dos Equis Pavilion and was walking around the area and found P&M's. We were seated in their outdoor are quickly, water served quickly, chips & salsa followed, salsa bit spicier than my Midwest taste buds have adapted to but very flavorful. We ordered cheese dip and it was a bit runny but good. I had the shrimp quesadilla and my wife had the combo platter number 1. Both very tasty and makes us miss Texas. service was quick and minimal attention during meal. No drinks other than water, two entrees, cheese dip came to $33 before tip. I'd recommend a meal for sure.

Nice waitstaff and decent Tex-Mex fairly close to downtown makes for a good venture out for lunch. Chili Relleno is good for the slightly adventurous diner.

I went here with high hopes....my expectations were met with a sampler appetizer, but quickly crushed with the chimichangas. This was not the best Mexican food I have tasted, but not the worst.

I don't normally spend time to review a restaurant but this place is just too much fun to resist. This is a bit of a dive local cafe...exterior is old building in a bar/restaurant hot zone in Dallas and but interior is all decorated in whimsical Mexican style. Top-shelf margaritas are great...but go slow...otherwise you may be needing a driver! Menu and food terrific medium cost fare. Everything is very tasty and ultimately makes it worth the trip. In fact, our first visit was a few years ago and we did not hesitate coming back on this recent trip to Dallas. Don't think you will go wrong with anything you try here.

Really good food! My husband had a breakfast quesadilla and I had a combo. Good service and nice atmosphere

Friendly service and great food are what you can count on every time you visit Pepe's & Mito's. I particularly enjoy their basics of enchiladas and tacos, and their mixed fajita platter is fantastic. Plus, they have just about the best flour tortillas you'll ever have. There are a couple paid lots (usually $3) close by with one right next to the building.

The steak fajitas were so flavorful and tender. True steak fajitas! Both the corn and the flour tortillas were fresh and delicious. The tamales and street tacos were amazing!

Wedding rehearsal dinner for party of 10, with appetizers dinners and drinks (soft & beers) and tip for under $200.00

I saw this restaurant on Diners and Drives and had to check it out while I was here in dallas. Great food!!!!! Ordered the recommended soup and tacos. Definitely a spot to stop and eat for sure.

In our last night in Dallas, we found this restaurant because it had been on the Food Network show, 'Diner's, Drive-In's and Dives'. It is located in an older area of town where many of the building's have been repurposed for restaurants and bars. We did have to wait for a table for seven, but not for long. We all tried different entrees and everyone loved their food. Great service and atmosphere as well.

My hubby & I cannot get enough of this place! The owners and staff are very friendly. The service is prompt and professional. The food is outstanding. And, Guy Fieri from Diners, Drive In’s and Dives has aired two shows from here. The margaritas are the best outside of Mexico. The cheese and beef enchiladas are our favorites. Please visit soon if you lie a TexMex or MexTex.

Great fajitas, enchiladas, hot sauce and margaritas. Also try the tacos al pastor. Super friendly good service too

My friend and I ate here while we were attending a horse show at the Fair Grounds. Good food, fun atmosphere.

We went on a Sunday afternoon and were seated immediately. Our waiter was very patient with us, as we took a while to decide what we wanted to order. There are so many great things on the menu! There is also a brunch menu on Sundays which added even better variety! They gave us enough bowls of salsa for each person. The food came out quickly. Would go back.

We were not disappointed in our lunch. Everything was beyond our expectations. We ordered the street tacos, carnitas, it was awesome.

We heard about this restaraunt thru Triple D, they did not dissapoint, Great food ,Great Service Great Value Cold Beer and Great Marg's perhapsd the best Mexican food we have had in a Restaurant!

The food was great. I had the grilled chicken breast in garlic and cilantro sauce which was excellent. And I never order chicken breast. The interior was a little dull though. Service was very good. I would eat there again many times.

When my wife worked at Big Baylor , I would pick her up at lunchtime and hit this friendly spot in Deep Ellum. Prices range from $9-20. (Check the online menu) I like everything. Tacos Nortenos, lunch specials #6 & 7 are my go to. I don’t even have to ask my wife. She is #4 with large unsweetened tea. Chips with hot sauce are complimentary (as they should be at all Mexican restaurants)

Went to this Deep Ellum establishment in search of good Tex-Mex based on several reviews and blogs. We wanted to love it but the service was just plain terrible. We had a lengthy wait and then were seated in a dimly lit outdoor space. Chips and salsa were only refilled after asking. Drink orders took a long time and weren't refilled. The food was delicious. Although a table runner left it beside our table for five minutes before our server returned to give it to us. During this time other patrons were seated all walking right by our food. Yuck! Took over ten minutes to get the check. With better service this would have been rated a four or five.

The service is prompt and gracious. The chips and salsa are exceptional. The Chipotle Enchiladas are the best I have ever had ... I recommend stuffing them with cheese for the most flavor. Of course, if you have to have meat, chicken and beef are available. I think they have the best flour tortillas in Dallas, maybe anywhere. They are thin and deliciously greasy; nevertheless, butter makes them even better!

Absolutely delicious and fresh Mexican food that offers more authenticity and real flavor than the tex-mex offered at most restaurants. Make sure to order the Tacos Nortrenos which is too good to skip and so flavorful. Great service and really a fun atmosphere.

Great food. Had the beef fajitas and rhey were very good. Maybe a little smaller than i would have liked. Chips and salsa were excellent.

In my honest opinion it’s the most genuine and best Mexican food and Dallas! Wow what a place! With so many options and delicious quesadillas and tacos! Go here!

I just went to a party there on Friday. They had promised the host that they would have two buffet lines so that lines didn't get backed up and that the buffet would stay 'stocked" However, they only had one buffet and they ran out of food in the first fifteen minutes and took forever to bring out more because they still needed to cook it!!! This was the case again in another five minutes!! People were standing around waiting for food! They stopped serving after the first half hour or so and those of us that had tried to help the host out by not rushing the buffet line so that other guests could get some food were just out of luck! They were so unprepared!! And to think that several of the guests did not even show up so they were actually supposed to be prepared for even MORE guests!! They promised more wait staff would be there to help out and I couldn't find anyone and had to go back to the kitchen when my kids and nephews and nieces wanted a nonalcoholic drink. But let me tell you, they were sure quick to serve as many alcohol drinks to run the tab up for the host! It disgusted me the way they ran this place and I feel so sorry for the poor host who spent way too much for a sorry experience! IT IS A RESTAURANT AND SHOULD BE KNOWN FOR THE GREAT FOOD WHEN IT COMES TO A WEDDING DRESS REHERSAL PARTY! Itotally understand if you are just going there for a night of drinking...it will probably be fine, but I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE THINKING OF CATERING OR BOOKING A PARTY THERE. Save your money and get somewhere better equipped to handle what they promise.

Went here with friends that know the owner... food is good and probably a good happy hour hang out ....

Pepe does a fantastic job of creating a Mexican feel to the restaurant. The exterior is white-wash brick with a wrought iron fence instead of a window for the patio seating. The interior is a series of three different rooms with different color schemes. The first room you enter is rough finished cement and orange/salmon colored bricks. It's very basic. The room to the left has the bar and brightly painted walls in red and yellow with murals. The last room is past the bar. It's a party room that can be closed off for large groups. Everything about this place is great. It looks run down, but it's not. The service is fun. They are attentive, but not over the top. The wait time to get seated can be really long, so plan accordingly. The food is the best part. I love the options available. I tried the Homemade Pork Tamales with the salsa verde. It's very good. The taco plate was good. The chipotle wine sauce on it was crazy good. The spinach enchilada was as good as everything else. They make their own flour tortillas. You can tell when you pick up one and taste it. There were so many things on the menu that I wanted to try. This is a place to visit multiple times.

It is always easy to just to go to the "chain restaurant", but we really like to try the local diners and restaurants and Pepe's & Mito's didn't disappoint. It looks like an old gas/mechanic's station that has been remodeled and we loved it. The hostess was polite and quick to find us a great table, the waiter was engaging and most of all the food was delicious! We had the fajitas and they were some of the best we have had. I can't wait to bring the rest of the family back here.

My hubby ordered his beef enchiladas/beans & rice without looking at the menu. He was very pleased (as usual) with his choice. We each drank ice tea (served with limes as a nice touch) and water. The glasses are huge and we did not need refills. We ordered a side of tomatillo sauce to go along with the tomatoey salsa and warm tortilla chips. We could not resist the steamy Queso and ordered warm soft corn tortillas (served with butter) to munch on as we waited for our entrees. I had the number one combo with a crispy beef taco and a cheese enchilada with diced onions on top. I asked for no rice and they served me a double side of beans. The meal comes with a side salad also. Needless to say, we left the restaurant very satisfied.

First time visit. Not impressed with mole, but will try something different next time. Good food. Good prices. Friendly staff.

Looking for something different on a day off, we stopped in for lunch on the way to the Arboretum. Sat on the patio since the weather was nice. The queso with taco meat was a great starter. Had the chicken chipotle wine sauce enchiladas and would return for those. Hubs had a regular combo plate and made quick work of it. Friendly, fast service.

A little wait but well worth it... some of the servers are a bit brisk but with the chaos of the people flowing through I can see they are rushed. That being said the food was great drinks never empty great salsa. Issue with order was resolved quickly and couldn’t ask for more.. this is a bit loud so not great for heavy conversations...

My hubby and I had a lovely late lunch here yesterday and it made us SO happy! We LOVE the food and the staff and the owners! My hubby has been going through chemotherapy treatments and all that he has been wanting to eat is Pepe & Mito’s food. It was a favorite of his before and stood the ravages of chemo when all of his other favorites fell by the way side. AND, we celebrated his end of chemo and this clear chest scans today with delicious Patron margaritas, queso, soft corn tortillas, chips, beef enchiladas, cheese enchiladas, crispy beef taco, refried beans and rice and charro beans. ❤️❤️❤️

Don't be put off by the simple exterior and basic interior, this is a great restaurant serving authentic Mexican (and not Tex Mex!) food. The service from front of house to table is very good and the value excellent, but the fantastic food is the real highlight. Highly recommended.

Our food as always was great. Jaime S did a good job. I had the grilled chicken and added a cheese enchilada with that crazy out of this world smokey sauce on top. The best. Absolutely the best freakin cheese enchilada. The mango margarita with the chili is the best. Thanks.

Saturday night in Deep Ellum, Dallas means long waits. Pepe’s and Mito’s is good Tex Mex, but there is no waiting area except the bar which is packed with standing room only among tables of people eating. But...I guess all restaurants then have the same problem. So, with that said, it’s a good place to get typical margaritas and good cheese enchiladas.

We had queso along with their appetizer platter. Everything looked pretty standard, but it was very, very good. The taquitos - dynamite. The queso was outstanding - much more than cheese and certainly wasn't just sloppy spices thrown together - no - the queso was designed. Unfortunately we are old folks and it was the evening meal so we didn't get to try entrees. But we'll definitely be back. Super close to downtown and easy to get to.

My hubby and I got our first dose of the Covid Moderna vaccine yesterday! YAY! We were on 14-15 waitlists and the Fair Park site accepted us! CELEBRATION in order with Patron margaritas by Alex and beef enchiladas and crispy beef tacos and the amazing chips/salsa/queso! Thanks, Sandy for your great hospitality! See y’all soon!

Very good mexican food and cocktails . They have 2 kind of local beer and many delicious plates . Open 11am till night

atmosphere is not great but food is. skip the happy hour $3 Margarita since they contain a very little booze and are extremely sweet.

The atmosphere is consistent with Deep Ellum, but that's about where the positives end. The food was nothing above what one can find at chain restaurants such as el Chico, although the tortillas were obviously fresh. Aside from that, just plain average food. Won't go back. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't memorable.

We were in the downtown area of Dallas and looking for lunch spots. Being a fan of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” hosted by Guy Fieri we looked up some area spots the show had been to as we do when traveling and this spot came up nearby. We hopped an Uber ride and stopped here for lunch. What a treat. Great service, excellent lunch menu and delicious food. The pecan crusted catfish was excellent. The whole Deep Ellum area is filled with places we will return to visit when in town.

Excellent salsa, hot chips, cheap delicious margarita's, authentic mexican food! We tried several of the entree's and they are all equally good! Get the fajitas!

I've been looking for a place like Pepe's and Mito's since I moved here from Austin. It is my new favorite Mexican food restaurant in Dallas, and I've tried plenty. This place is authentic. It reminds of the restaurants I would visit in Austin and San Antonio. I got the cheese enchilada and taco plate, and it was amazing. I highly recommend this place, and I will be back again and again.

I heard about this place from some locals as a must visit, so I did. Trouble for me was every thing on the menu looked awesome. I ended up getting a sampler plate. Awesome. Staff was friendly and it had a comfy atmosphere. Only downfall was the only parking I could find was paid parking

This is a horrible place! Terrible location with no parking except for a $3.00 self pay lot that you have to endure a stupid parking machine that wants your license tags before issuing a parking receipt. Inside the place is run-down and dirty. The 'patio' is a joke – a fenced in, walled off filth-pen where the waitress walks up and immediately asks "are you ready to order". Don't bother asking for a wine, beer, or drink list. They don't have one. Aside from the worn-out, food-stained, crumpled-up paper menu, your wine choices are an airline-size "Sutter Home" mini-bottle or nothing at all. Chips were thick and hard. Salsa was sweet and not very spicy. That's as far as we went. We left a two dollar tip and walked out. I don't know why anyone would eat here with this wait staff, this food quality, these drink options, and this inconvenient parking situation.

You drive up to a genuine hole in the wall building you first think, I don't want to go in there. Then you find the parking is all pay lots. BUT, you enter into a clean quaint restaurant with the nicest employees, guest who look like the who's who of Dallas and fantastic food. It was their 30th Anniversary when we were there. I would recommend this restaurant 101%. The margaritas were good as well as the food. The fajitas cut with a fork and were tender. Four of us had totally different food and all of us were very happy with our choices. Everyone said they would go back.

Have you ever run into an old friend you haven’t seen in a long time? That is what happened today at Pepe’s and Mito’s! I used to work in downtown Dallas over 25 years ago and didn’t know that Pepe’s and Mito’s was a restaurant I used to eat at way back then. The food was amazing then and STILL is amazing. Now that I found this place again it going to be a “go to” for my husband and me!! Come one, come all to an outstandingly tasty TexMex experience!!

I came here to try the tacos norteños and the tamales and left a very satisfied customer. The tacos are the best beef fajita tacos I have had; they pack tons of flavor. The tamales were also good (the green sauce made them tastier than they would have been without it). The service was extremely good and the workers very friendly.

Let me start by saying I live in an area that is blessed with various authentic Mexican restaurants, and while I love many versions of Tex-Mex, not all are created equal. This food was delicious, the bartender was kind and attentive, and even though it was located in Deep Ellum, it seemed like a hidden gem.

We found Pepe & Mito’s since it was one of the few restaurants open on New Year’s Day in the Deep Ellum area. With so many hungry hockey fans wandering the neighborhood after the Winter Classic game at the Cottonbowl, the line was out the door. The staff responded promptly to the influx. We had a wait for a table but it was worth it. The carnitas taco dinner was excellent. I highly recommend them and will definitely go there again when I’m in the area.

My husband and I were on an unexpected quick trip to Dallas a few days ago and stayed nearby this place in Deep Ellum. Such a cool neighborhood! We hoped to grab some good Tex-Mex food while in town and Pepe's & Mito's had pretty good reviews so we headed there. We had no trouble getting a table and the staff was friendly and attentive. Lucky us, we happened to be there during happy hour! I had the house margarita on the rocks while hubby had a frozen strawberry margarita. At $5 each, they were a good deal while also being strong and tasty! They brought out warm chips with good salsa while we looked over the menu. I ended up getting a "House Speciality" item - Shrimp Enchiladas, which are served with rice, beans, and salad. At $18.95, I felt they were a tad pricey. But my husband had some of mine because he only ordered a Tortilla Soup. We would come back here again, especially during Happy Hour!

We went to Pepe's and Mito's because my brother said they had terrific albondigas soup (I guess so did Guy Fieri). I don't always see eye-to-eye with Guy (Diners-Drive-ins, and Dives), but this time the recommendation was spot-on!! Probably the best albondigas soup I've ever had!! Really, really good! Service was wonderful, quick, and the salsa/chips were fresh and tasty!!! As we were moving from place to place (ended up at Brick and Bones for some truly unique fried chicken) we didn't get to try the tacos, which are also supposed to be terrific, but we'll certainly be back!!

Great service and delicious food. We enjoyed the atmosphere as well. We recommend the queso, flautas, and steak tacos. Sangria margarita was tasty but a little strong for our liking.

Who cares?! If you are a lover of this type of food, you WILL find a dish that meets your every expectation. I eat TexMex all over this part of the country and have not found a restaurant any better than Pepe & Mito’s. The food is great as is the service. We had Victor as our server and he was a jewel with a great fun sense of humor. The bartender knows how to mix Patron Añejo margaritas perfectly, the chips are NOT greasy, the homemade corn tortillas are thick and a great way to eat the queso with ground beef and jalapeños. All four of us loved our beef entrees from the beef enchiladas to the taco nortenos! We will return as often as our waistlines allow!

We were looking for a quick dinner. Picked it because of good rating on Yelp. The rating is well-deserved. Clean and spacious. Service was good. Food very reasonably priced and portions generous. No dishes had the "old oil" taste that some Mexican food joints have. Good margaritas, too.

This is a good place to grab mexican food if you are around the Deep Ellum area. Highly recommend but with reservations. I was there last weekend and it was a very warm summer day in Dallas and it was very hot inside. I would recommend going in the fall/winter/springtime or get it to go in the summer. The food is good and the service was very polite.

Had a great experience hosting our son's wedding rehearsal dinner here. This is one of his favorite restaurants. The back room holds 54 people max which worked perfectly for us because we wanted both families to mingle and get to know one another. Sandy was very accommodating with all my questions prior to the event. We brought in table decorations and the room looked great! The food was excellent! Only issue was the bride didn't have a chance to eat and I wish I had planned ahead and placed their order earlier because she was literally the last person served. Highly recommend!

great local place with great people. Very low turnover for a restaurant, and the owners are usually there. Classic, unchanging, and doesn't need to.

The food is very good. It has a very good menu with many options. Great service and very good ambiance!

A little hole-in-the-wall place in Dallas' Deep Ellum that doesn't look like much, but serves up some of the best Tex-Mex in town! The chips and salsa are made in-house & are perfect. Had to make ourselves stop eating them so we would have room for the food. Great margaritas as well. Reasonable prices and the staff are friendly and attentive. The only negative is the parking situation. About the only available parking is in private lots which charge $10. They really need their own parking lot.

food was excellent, service was great Highly recommend. Parking is limited but pay lot is next door.

We chose to eat at this restaurant to celebrate our friend's high school graduation. We called and talked to someone before we arrived. They assured us they would make our meal an event for our special guest. They did not let us down. They placed us on the wait list before we got there. They had the table ready. They put us in a central location with an amazing waiter. Our guest was a young person with special needs and our waiter was very attentive and patient. The food was fabulous. Every waiter in the restaurant was helpful. The patrons were all coming to the table to congratulate our graduate! The meal truly made our day extra special. Thank you TripAdvisor and Pepe's and Mito's for your help! What a great day. After graduation which was at the Music Hall at Fair Park, we headed back to the Cafe for Happy Hour! It lasts until 7pm, ya'll - $3 margaritas! Yum!! We were waiting for that traffic to die down to drive back to the burbs. (Now, now.....the poor driver drank water ...and ate some good nachos....and those flour tortillas! Good stuff!)

My wife, daughter and I are from Houston and decided to go on a Diners Drive-In’s and Dives journey on our recent trip to Dallas. Guy F. From DDD visited this place in the past so being lovers of Mexican food we decided to put this one on our list. First of all, parking is horrible. You have to pay to park (only $2.00 luckily) and their lot by the restaurant was full. So we parked across the street and walked over. Upon entering the establishment, they were a little busy but no where near full. We decided to set outside on the patio which was pretty nice and quiet. We got our chips and salsa, which were FANTASTIC. Salsa 10/10. From there it went down hill. We had a male waiter (forget his name) who was super nice and professional. However, we didn’t see him very much as he seemed to forget about us, being MIA for what seemed like eternity and leaving our chips and salsa bowls empty. Not good when we get left with no service and our chips, salsa and beverages empty. We ordered the chicken and beef fajitas and they were tasty. The chicken was super dry however but the flavor was on point. I had a dish called Tacos Nortenos, which is what Guy tried and liked on the show. It was very very good, I would rate it 8/10. Fajitas 7/10. Rice and charro beans were ok, 7/10. Overall we enjoyed the food but were very disappointed by the subpar service. Our waiter, while super nice and professional, rarely checked on us and left us hanging several times. One more DDD place to check off the list and one of the few we will probably not be returning.

This place makes me so happy. I was in Deep Ellum for some reason and got a recommendation for a Tex Mex place nearby, and this is where they sent me. Absolutely no regrets! The place itself is nothing fancy - don't go here expecting some fancy beer list or beautiful booths. But if you're ok with low-key casual, you won't be disappointed by the food. I ordered their daily special which was some sort of pulled pork tacos, and it was amazing. But my husband's dish was the winner: He did shrimp enchiladas, which had the most delicious white creamy sauce on top. I found myself dipping chips into HIS leftover sauce, it was so good. Only annoying thing here is the location - it's not easy to find parking in Deep Ellum. But at lunch time on a weekday, it was no big deal.

Superb place for date night. When we visited Dallas for volleyball we were able to get away from the kids and have a great dinner.

We’re in town to participate (as vendors) in the Deep Ellum Art Festival....first timers there. After setting up we noticed this restaurant and I can’t pass up Mexican food. We were seated right away and were given chips and salsa. This salsa....is the Best I’ve ever had! I can’t figure out the secret ingredient, but it’s addictive and tastes like none I’ve ever had. Our waiter took our drink order then came back later for our food order. I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Enchiladas & hubby ordered 2 chicken enchiladas and a pork tamale. My enchiladas were oh so good! I don’t know how they make their chipotle sauce but I was hoping they sold it by the bottle! It has a Smokey and a tad sweet flavor. I wish this place was closer to my home in Ft Worth. If you’re in the area, it’s a must try!

Went here with a group of girlfriends while touring downtown Dallas. The chips and salsa were fresh and homemade. I ordered the fajita taco which comes with a homemade flour tortilla and grilled chicken. Scrumptious. One of my friends ordered the spinach enchilada which comes filled with spinach, mushrooms, and cheese with a creamy white sauce on top. It was amazing. I would definitely go back here if I was in town.

We browsed the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives website for a place we hadn't visited before and landed down on Elm. It was a cool night and they seemed to be a bit understaffed but arriving just before 6 PM got us a table right in the middle of the front entry with no wait. There was a semi-enclosed area in the front area as well, but it did not appear to have heat. Very few patrons were sitting there. The frozen margarita was tasty and chips and salsa were quickly replenished. Our waiter was helpful, organised and friendly, but definitely spread thin as the crowd gathered. By 6:15 there were 20 people waiting to be seated with nowhere to really stand or sit out of the cold just inside the door. The staff worked quickly to accommodate them. I chose the mini brisket tacos that came with 4 small corn tortillas with jack cheese. The accompanying black beans and Spanish rice were better than expected. We appreciated the choices for the munchkins with us as well that included applesauce.

My Husband and I decided to try Pepe's and Mito's while searching for Tex Mex. They did not dissapoint. Top notch service, delicious food and great margaritas. We will definitely be back next time we are in town!

We just selected this place because we wanted try something from tex mex. And I could say: this was really good choice. I was totally satisfied.

Our family of 6 often eats in the Deep Ellum neighborhood on Sundays. This was our first time at Pepe's and Mito's. As we looked at the menu, most of us were set on ordering tamales or combinations including tamales. We were disappointed when our server told us that there were no tamales at 1pm. The food was good, as were the chips and salsa. The service was good too.

Best Mexican food in Deep Ellum! I used to live in Dallas and this was one of my favorite restaurants. I make it a point to visit whenever I'm in town!

Pepe & Mito's Mexican Cafe has been consistent over the years. Always a good meal at very reasonable prices. I typically go for lunch and they have great lunch deals!

I am the first to admit that I am not always comfortable going to Deep Ellum. We were here recently with another couple for a class and stopped at Pepe's & Mito's for an early dinner. The food and drinks were most enjoyable. The vibe is pretty normal for a Tex Mex place in Deep Ellum - bright colors, murals on the wall, and "grungy" chic decor. The menu was quite varied and our group had nachos, a combo plate and a chicken specialty. All were very good. The salsa that was served with the tortilla chips were a highlight - very tasty! Our margaritas and Mexican martini also were standouts. Service was friendly and not overly aggressive. Prices were as to be expected. Will definitely return when in this area again.

We had an assortment of dishes all of which were tasty. The only real problems were minor in that they delivered the tortilla soup with cheese, when asked for it without, and the lack of actual 'hot sauce'. Worth the trip!

Well priced. Great and friendly service. Good Mexican food. Authentic, with all the trimmings. Colourful and simple surrounding. This is a lively, down home restaurant. Not an intimate environment. Great place to go for late night or for serious Mexican food junkies.

I saw three $ on this and think that might be a mistake. I ate lunch here and it was very inexpensive. Serving sizes are just right! I had the chicken enchilada and fajita taco. Oh my was it good! Add some chile con queso. So good. It's definitely a hidden gem. I will be back for sure next time I'm in town.

We stopped in with friends for a late afternoon lunch and had a great meal. The food was very good served in a relaxing atmosphere. Chips and salsa while not as good as the plates were still very good. We will stop in again.

The chips were tasty, not salty and served warm. The salsa was fresh and had the right amount of kick. The tacos and sides were all yummy and fresh. Can't go wrong here. Enjoy!

The food tasted really good. I loved the soup. It was spicy but I couldn't stop eating it. My husband enjoyed his dinner also. It was nice casual atmosphere and they had excellent customer service.

Try the soup, not the chicken tortilla the other one on the menu, like a great family recipe soup, really good and different! Had fantastic chipotle shrimp dish, with awesome beans (and i never eat the beans) and great sautéed veggies, carrots and green beans And squash and onions.... Husband had the top shelf beef fajitas, really tasty with mushrooms etc. They have an open air seating section also. Great decor, parking on the street. At 6pm no problem. Go for great mexican if you're in Deep Ellum.

Waiter: entertaining, Friendly and fast Food: excellent Drinks: perfect Recommend: Yes Will visit again: Yes

We had sizzling fajitas and a combo dish. Both meals for delicious and the quality of the rice and beans was top-notch. We both loved our Margaritas which were made perfectly. All the reviews on Trip advisor about this restaurant are spot on. I'm from New York but if I lived in the area I'd go frequently!

Great atmosphere and lunch specails; the food was very good. The guacamole was average, but very fresh.

We ate here last time we were in Dallas and it was great. The food and the service exceeded our expectations. Two thumbs up!

Wow! My hubby and I had not been here in a few months and I had forgotten how much I love it. Best TexMex in Dallas! I had my usual crispy beef taco and cheese enchiladas with beans and no rice. My hubby had his standard beef enchiladas with beans and rice. The corn tortilla chips are perfect...no grease! And, the queso is supreme when you add Beef taco meat and jalapeños. The salsa has just the right amount of spice. Our Patron Anejo fresh lime margaritas were delicious!

Cool venue Feels like a hip restaurant bar in Mexico or Cuba Great drinks Good food Deep Ellum! Parking can be hard. But worth the effort! Because it's memorable!

I hadn't been here in a while..Food is still awesome and great happy hour Margaritas! Even though you have to pay for parking $5, it is still so worth it. We had the Pollo al Chipotle and Shrimp Enchiladas , which both were delicious. I won't wait so long to come back!
Good food, fun location
Just ate there this evening. I really do like this place. Of course the Deep Ellum location is great, but the food was very good as well. Had the Tacos Nortena, they were great! Good service, reasonably priced. Very casual
