My husband has been coming here since the restaurant first opened. He brought me here 20 years ago and it's still one of my top five favorite restaurants. The food and service are always excellent. Great place to bring a date because unlike some of the trend of your spots, you can actually carry on a conversation and not have to yell about the noise of the kitchen. They now also have an excellent brunch menu for Sunday's. They also have a separate dining area if you want to throw a private party.if you're looking for trendy this may not be the place for you. But if you're looking for great food and a lovely atmosphere, a place for a date or a family gathering, give petite Auberge a try.

Consistently good service and food. The luncheon specials are a favorite. On our last visit, it was nice to see a mixed-age crowd. For success as a going-concern, they need to continue to appeal to younger folks, too!

Attended a event at Petite Auberge for about 40 people. The dinner event went very well and the food was great. Service from start to finish was fantastic. Great professional staff who made sure that the timing of the food service was on time. We had a very good evening and will come back.

Despite its name, this is a German Restaurant in French Disguise (there is a good story that the owner will tell you if you go as to why). My wife and I go there regularly for good leisurely dinner. The food is good, the bar is great and the staff has been there forever, which makes it one of ther very few restaurants to have staff that truly cares for you and for the restaurat. They never hurry you and you can stay there all night if you want eating and drinking at your own pace. Try a Keoke Coffee and the Baked Alaska for dessert! You won't be dissapointed

The food here is still very good and the wait staff is attentive, but the restaurant itself needs a facelift!

This has been our family special occasion restaurant since before I was born! My parents starting going 40 years ago to celebrate special occasions and it continues to be a family tradition. The food is always amazing, and the atmosphere and the people that make it even more special. I would recommend it for any occasion! Our favorites are the medallions of beef and the lobster tails, but they have many other excellent choices. The desserts are wonderful, too. Congrats to Petite Auberge on 41 years! We look forward to the next 41! Oh, and I forgot to mention that my dad is French, so he knows a good a French restaurant when he finds one! đ

This predominantly French cuisine restaurant has been a mainstay in ATL for at least 30 years. It is in an unlikely location in a shopping center close to Emory U. Food is great and well as service. Not too pricey.

We wanted to take a foodie friend from Dallas, TX to a classic Atlanta restaurant during her visit this weekend. Based on many reviews, we were looking for a superior culinary experience. Here are our reflections: Several guests were greeted by name and it appeared that many have dined here for decades. The traditional decor is in need of a 'refresh'; it feels more dated than classic. We made our reservation through OpenTable. The host brought us to a booth before the staff had the table set for us. It was a bit awkward for all of us, as we walked between tables of seated guests. A minute later, someone else silently filled our water glasses and placed butter on the table (no greeting or welcome). Several minutes went by before another person came for a drink order. We requested a wine list and off he went. When our server came to our table, she was friendly and knowledgeable yet seemed distracted. She did provide sample pours of their house/private label French cabernet and another that she recommended when we didn't care for the house cab (it had a fruitier finish than we prefer). Their wine list is fairly broad and reasonably priced. Hubby ordered shrimp cocktail; he requested a second ramekin of cocktail sauce 3 times before it was delivered. Our caesar salads were good but not outstanding; the dressing was more drizzled than tossed. We had to ask for cracked black pepper. Our main courses included the Bouillabasse, Beef Wellington, and Coquilles St. Jacques (Diver Scallops). The beef and scallop entrees were accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. Each of us found the broth or accompanying sauces to be absolutely wonderful! The fish, mussels, and shrimp in the bouillabasse were perfect but the lobster tails were too chewy. The beef wellington was presented medium (pink) instead of medium rare. The beef had little flavor, so the accompanying sauces were important. The scallops were well prepared but didn't impress my hubby. For dessert, we had the chocolate mousse and the layered sherbet meringue. Both were delicious. Our server helped us with our selections and she advised us well. While we were satisfied with the value, we were disappointed with the overall experience. We were hoping for a spectacular culinary experience. This family-owned restaurant is located in commercial strip center next to Maggie's, a local bar frequented by Emory University students.

This is a classic restaurant in the middle of a shopping center. The restaurant is not impressive from the outside but once you get inside the impression begins to change. from the friendly greeting as you get inside to the tables with linen tablecloths, the waiters with black vests, real silver, fast water service, etc. everything is first class. The food is all first class - cooked by a real chef - and their economic recovery special is a real special. (11.95) for a lunch including soup, meat, 2 vegetables, and a delicious desert beats most anything else I've seen. If you have a girl you want to impress but you are on a limited budget, this is a good choice. If you just like a good meal in classy surroundings, this is still a good choice. If you just want to eat and run - there is a burger king just across the parking lot.

We had our rehearsal dinner here 28 years ago and I've been back one other time. Decided to take the 2 mom's out for a nice B-day and Mothers day dinner. Awesome choice! The place has not changed and the service and food was perfect. We had Soups, Escargot, Salads, Pate, Scallops, Prime Rib and Beef Wellington. The meals were cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. Everyone when home happy and full. I will be back. Also found out they do Lunches

Met with my niece on Tuesday around 4:00. The service and wait staff were fabulous. We had the three course lunch meal and it was outstanding. A bottle of Bordeaux, great conversation, beautiful setting and peaceful afternoon in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Atlanta traffic. If you enjoy French cuisine you will have to make Petite Auberge in Toco Hills a bucket list destination.

Went here for my birthday, for dessert only! Was definitely worth it. I mean french & dessert go hand in hand. Petite Auberge is elegant and grand. The decor felt a little old, esp the exterior of the restaurant (in a shopping plaza) but the food made up for it. We sat underneath a chandelier!

Petite Auberge has been one of our favorites for nearly 40 years. It has a varied menu of fine food that is well prepared and efficiently served in an elegant setting. It is a dining treat for any occasion.

Another fabulous meal...double lobster tails....and wonderful service by Mark. This restaurant has been here for a long time and they never fail us! A warm atmosphere, perfect service and delicious food make for a perfect evening.

My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time yesterday - for a nice, romantic dinner. We were pleasantly surprised to find a charming, unpretentious restaurant where most of the patrons seemed to be regulars. We started with a salad course - Four Seasons for me, and a classic Caesar for my husband. Both were delicious and were scarfed down quickly! My husband also started with a beer and was impressed that this restaurant paired his Pilsner with the correct glass, something that most establishments overlook. On to the main course - Veal Marsala for me, and Chicken Cordon Bleu for my husband. The food was delicious, especially the CCB. My dish was a touch too heavy on the marsala wine, but it was still delightful and yummy. The asparagus was cooked perfectly, and the parmesan pasta was rich and creamy. Although we didn't think we'd have room for dessert, we managed to squeeze in a chocolate crepe praline for my husband and a delightful chocolate mousse for me. The presentation and plating of both was exquisite...it was truly a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. Lastly, a note about the service...our waiter was attentive, and we were visited by not one, but two floor managers asking how our meal was. We were offered a second basket of bread, which took a few minutes to receive...although when it arrived, we knew why. The dinner rolls were fresh and crispy, and warm from the oven...definitely worth the wait! Overall, a great experience. We already plan to return.

Nice menu, very good (though not superb) food; excellent service. Lots of people who live in the area of Toco Hills seem to come back over and over. There are certainly more glitzy restaurants and plenty with more complex offerings, but this place is pretty darn good and reasonably priced. It's neither informal nor stuffy; good choice for a pleasant, relaxed meal.

We've been to Petite Auberge many times and we have always enjoyed our meals. After returning from a recent trip to France, we were still craving French food . . . so, we made a reservation. The service at Petite Auberge is always warm and welcoming. But, best of all is the delicious, beautifully presented food they serve. Fresh from the tables of France, we were able to relive our gastronomic experiences. What a treat to have a place that seems like a special neighborhood bistro. And . . . they allow you to relax and enjoy dinning, which you can do without the noise experienced at so many other restaurants. In my opinion, you will be doing yourself a favor by trying Petite Auberge.

My wife and I and our guests have never been disappointed in the excellent entrees served at Petite Auberge. The menu includes traditional American dishes and a few French entrees. The filet mignon with lobster tail is the best deal in Atlanta and much less expensive than Chequers, another of our favorite venues. My wife's lamb chops were sumptuous and truly delicious. The bouillabaise was "fantastic" said one of our friends. Another loved the beef wellington. And the Baked Alaska was enough for 4 persons tho only my wife and I indulged. We love this restaurant and visit there 4-5 times a year.

Petite Auberge is one of my favorite restaurants. The service is always top-notch and the staff is constant, many having been there for years. They have a great wine selection and the staff is very knowledgeable. There are many exquisite salads, appetizers, entrees, and desserts that should appeal to a wide clientele. One can have chateaubriand, steaks, fish, pork, poultry, and a selection of Bavarian dishes. The prices are very reasonable. Frankly it is difficult to understand why someone would want to spend their money at a chain restaurant when, for the same price, you can dine in style with high-quality, expertly prepared dishes.

We had not visited a French restaurant for some time but had heard about this place and decided to make the drive there. It is located about two miles from I 85 and is in a busy shopping center. We decided on the chicken cordon blue which was very, very good. It came with a cup of soup of the day. The service was prompt and attentive. I would go here again if we were in the area.

A French/German restaurant with a scrumptious selection of salads, appetizers, entrees, and desserts that bound to please. Start with something like a house-made mushroom salad, french onion soup, or iced vicchyssoise, proceed to escargot, our house-made pate with a Waldorf salad and Cumberland sauce. Try their perfectly served filet mignon with bordelaise and bearnaise sauces, chateaubriand for two, veal, fish, or bavarian selections. There dessert menu is loaded with traditional creme brulee, cheesecakes, etc. The service is personal and impeccable.

This lovely french restaurant has captioned the romance in our souls. Beautiful fun setting sets the scene for an enchanting evening. Our comes the entertainment and the die is cast. (Available Weds, Thurs, Fri.) First time we tried everything we could and it was excellent. There was absolutely no room for dessert and speciality coffee afterward but we did it. Yum. We came back two weeks later for lunch and weren't disapointed. And because of the Friday music (not Sat) we battled the Atlanta Friday traffic to do so....it was worth it!

We've been here about a dozen times - usually for special dinner events such as the monthly "Dinner and a Diva" (opera evenings) and other themed occasions. (Wild game, Valentines Day, Thanksgiving, etc.) Occasionally for lunch. Consistent, superb French cuisine, wonderful service, Old World atmosphere. It's a brief trip to France for a meal. Never had an entrée we didn't like...Soups are divine. We rarely have dessert...A lovely treat when we go here.

I went with a few friends to enjoy an Oktoberfest dinner with beer and live music. One of my friends was from Berlin and she was comforted by the German food that she had known and loved. As it was Oktoberfest, I did not experience the restaurant at its French finest, but truly enjoyed the night, the food, the beer, the music, and the friendly atmosphere. We drank, we sang, we danced, and took photos with people from other tables. It was a festive night and one I won't soon forget.

Nine years ago when I moved to Atlanta, I went to an insurance agent based in the same strip shopping center as Petite Auberge. I had wandered over, checked out the menu they had posted, and thought "I'd like to come here some time". Shame on me for it taking nine years before I came back! A friend and I ate here this past Saturday. He is a local and has been there many times. Unfortunately, the restaurant was rather empty - I would have liked to see more people enjoying the place. The atmosphere is refined, but not stuffy ... elegant, but they don't take themselves too seriously. We had a very nice table, and an excellent waiter who was both unobtrusive, but there every time we needed him. We began with the country pate maison, which was exquisite. Silky smooth pate served with wonderfully crunchy toast points, and sweet/sharp cornichons (pickles). I could have made a meal of that. We had two bottles of wine during the course of the evening - the wine list was adequate, and reasonable. For an entree I had the Bavarian platter, which consisted of knockwurst, bratwurst, and two slices of pork loin over whipped potatoes and a brown gravy. There was also a generous portion of sauerkraut on the plate. I ate maybe two bites of the pork and potato - it was fine...but the bratwurst and knockwurst, and especially the sauerkraut were so good, that's what I wanted to focus on. I was unable to finish my dinner. They had a number of dessert selections, including Strawberries Romanoff, which sounded wonderful, but we were too full to even contemplate eating another bite. It's a bit out of my way, being on the opposite side of Atlanta from where I live, but I would certainly like to return.

My gathering was with 4 other lady friends and we all raved on how well the food was presented & prepared. The atmosphere, most relaxing though elegantly designed. The service was very good & being that it was all of our first visit, the maitre'd was very patient with us. Great for romance or silent solitude. We all plan to dine there again soon.

We very much enjoy the great French and German dishes at Petite Auberge. What makes it special is the entertainment they offer on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:30-8:30. Berne is a solo artist that plays a guitar and sings background music. We used to listen to Berne at the old South of France restaurant before they closed about 6 years ago and now she is back at Petite Auberge - a real delight to listen to while you dine. The Mushroom Salad is a great way to start your meal - very light creamy dressing. Last night I had the Red Snapper and my wife had Veal Marsala - both excellent dishes. A nice wine and beer selection and we always have the New Orleans Bread Pudding for dessert - so buttery and rich and so delicious! Try this restaurant - you will be glad you did!

Just enjoyed my second experience with Petite Auberge. I can't wait to plan a party here. The service is pleasantly tremendous. The menu is diverse and reasonably priced. I enjoyed the most delicious Rack of Lamb this time. Great setting for a romantic dinner, or a quaint meal with a friend. The dinning room has linen covered tables with comfortable seating; clean, elegant but yet cozy. My only disappointment is the outside or curb side appearance. Remodeling should be considered. Call Candace from HGTV, she's the bomb.

The New Year's Eve Gala Dinner is a special event at Petite Auberge. It was really a fabulous mean served in six courses. I had a Lobster Louis appetizer, Lobster Bisque soup, a Lettuce Wedge Salad with a Creamy Gorgonzola dressing, an intermezzo of Raspberry Sorbet, a pair of certified Black Angus Filet Mignon, a CrÚme Brûlée for dessert, and of course a flute of Champagne. The live entertainment was especially nice on this evening.

Consistent food quality, great value, great service. You can't go wrong with the Filet Mignon, Chateaubriand for Two, Beef Wellington, German classics, etc. There is great selection of specialty salads and appetizers such as escargot, pate, french onion soup, etc. They prepare some items table-side, including decadent desserts. There is a good selection of wines, and a variety of olive oils available by the bottle to take home. They have good entertainment as well.

There is a reason this restaurant has been around for 30+ years. Great food and good service. Always get the hot buttered rum bread pudding!!!

My wife and I had a weeknight dinner here. Restaurant has been in business for years, with an excellent reputation. Atmosphere: Cloth table cloths and napkins; elegant, simple decorations; small, simple menus. Service: Excellent, discreet, unhurried. Food: Spinach salad was very good and the mushroom salad (not seen too often in restaurants) was excellent. Scallops and lamb were presented beautifully and were excellent. Bottle of house wine was okay for the price, but not outstanding by any stretch of the imagination. Conclusion: There is a reason this restaurant has been in business since the 70's. Nice atmosphere, excellent service, good food, and very reasonable prices, makes for a successful evening.

Easy to see why they have been in business so long. The food is very imaginative yet very affordable. A super lunch menu. We are glad we made our second trip back. Evening menu even has Beef Wellington. As you enter, there is a spacious Olive Oil tasting room. Sample or buy. Their own products. We wish we lived closer to this gem. Can't wait to return. Never gets old. Professional wait staff.

My wife and I love this restaurant. Beef wellington is our favorite evening meal. We have recently started eating lunch here and really enjoy the specials. (Very reasonable $ at lunch)

This restaurant has been around for 30 plus years and is one of the last old Atlanta restaurants left. Does anybody remember when there was a Rich's Bakery across the parking lot? The place exudes old world elegance, although, not stuffy and the mature waiters dressed in black and white complete the picture. Mostly excellent european and french cuisine. I love the "hamburger" at lunch with the burgundy/mushroom sauce. Great wine list. This is a must try when in the Atlanta area.

The food is very good even in a banquet setting. You must try the warm mushroom salad - it's delicious. The staff is very accommodating and pleasant. The only downside is the noise level in the banquet rooms. There was a wedding party next door and of course they were hanging a great time but it made it difficult to hear our meeting. Highly recommended.

This was an excellent dining experience, beginning with house made Pate Maison, Mushroom Salad, Hearts of Palm Salad, and perfectly prepared cocktails. It was finished with an exquisite Chateaubriand for two prepared table-side. It's difficult to see why someone would pay the same price to get a mediocre meal in a chain steakhouse when one can have a dining experience at Petite Auberge.

We have been dining at Petite Auberge for decades. This restaurant is well run and offers a varied menu of well-prepared food served by top-notch friendly and attentive professionals.

Lovely place, my husband and I have celebrated our anniversary and Valentines Day here many times. We have always received excellent food and service. I have ordered everything from steak to lobster to the pork roast, and all have been top notch. Chocolate mousse for dessert is a must.

This is a grand lady that continues to please. Our most recent visit was their wild game dinner. The venison was very tender, and my husband enjoyed the wild boar. But what you should not miss is the beef wellington. The chef has it down to a science - it is wonderful. It's a delicacy that so few restaurants dare to serve, and it is a perfect medium-rare pastry-enrobed treat. Now there are some ways in which Petite Auberge is charmingly retro, and some ways in which it is outdated. A few tweeks and I believe this restaurant could re-capture some of its luster. Dinner rolls are cottony and flavorless - unworthy of the table. Side dishes are overcooked afterthoughts. Chipped tabletops show underneath table cloths. Service can be awkward. A few strategic updates to the dining room decor would be welcome - not to mention repairs to the restaurant's red neon sign, which is missing a letter or two. But, there is a comfortable feeling about the place, a good meal can be had for a reasonable price, and you will likely leave with a smile on your face.

I'm very ambivalent as I write this review. We had a good visit at Petite Auberge and really enjoyed ourselves there but the food was just "Okay". Here's my review: So last night, we dressed up and went out to Petite Auberge, thanks to a gift certificate from a friend who wanted to send us to a nice French restaurant in Atlanta. Many of the Google reviews say "Excellent!" and the dress code was business casual or better. So, buying the gift certificate from out of state, he thought Petite Auberge sounded like a pretty nice place. What we found was a dated restaurant located in a strip mall (laundry mat, nail salon, tanning, groceries, pub, liquor store, etc.) with a dated interior and a much older clientele. The menu was decidedly not French. In fact, we thought it might even have been British. Maybe simply European. We felt overdressed but, since it was a long-awaited date night for us, we didn't mind. The staff was friendly, eager, older, and easy to talk to. We were relaxed by this atmosphere but disappointed that it wasn't what we expected. My husband had some sort of steak dish and I had the lobster. I started off with the crab/shrimp cake appetizer which was good enough but really nothing to write home about. It was well cooked but the flavors were quite bland. The lobster was just a tad undercooked and felt rubbery. Again, the flavors of the lobster were just not there. The vegetable was a strange steamed squash that was cooked fine but, once again, had no real flavor profile. I didn't eat much of that. The bed of rice was simply yellow rice, well-cooked. My husband had Steak Frites, which is just French for steak and fries. We don't even know what type of steak it was but my husband said it was "Okay". He opted for desert and got the crepe with ice cream. Again, no special flavor profile to make him say "Wow!". I had a glass of the Petite Auberge Cabernet which was okay, too, but I switched to the Kendall-Jackson. Much better choice. They do have a large selection of wine, so you can't really go wrong there. Overall, we were relaxed, the staff was great, and the food was "Okay". So...it wasn't terrible.

Food was delicious, portions generous, service excellent and very friendly, easy to hear each other talk, prices more than fair. Four of us dined, each had a different choice, and we each liked everything we were served. Everything we had was perfect. The plates were hot, the food was hot, the bread was both hot and fresh. The veggies were cooked just right, and the flavors were wonderful. Definitely worth the trip and the experience. They had french as well as german food, and a variety of options. The price options below aren't a good reflection. It's a white tablecloth restaurant but they don't have a dress code. We were casual and so were several other couples, but there were people more formally dressed as well. The prices were from $15 - $23 on average. It would be a good place for a large family gathering as well.

In Atlanta for a girls' weekend, we wanted a steakhouse with atmosphere, but we didn't want a place where you pay ridiculous prices for side dishes on top of the steak. Petite Auberge had good steaks with nice sides, and the French onion soup was authentically fantastic. Service and the musician that night were also good. They have a kid's menu, too. Love the round booths.

I have eaten at Petite Auberge many times over the years and never been disappointed. The food is excellent and the service is great. The owner is always there and personally greets you, making sure that everything is first rate. Tablecloths and fine dining at a reasonable price. I will definitely go there again.

This is a French restaurant that has stood the test of time. It has been good for a long time.

It is our go-to place when we come to Atlanta. You can have a conversation without being overheard - or hearing someone else. The service is prompt, friendly and professional. The food is delicious.

Family owned for many, many years - service is wonderful - food is exceptionally good & it is a place to go for quiet & it's like being in old French setting.

This is a moderately priced neighborhood restaurant popular with an older crowd used to good food. The same family has operated the restaurant for 40 years. Food: French and German dishes 5/5. Atmosphere: a bit dated but clean, quietly conducive to conversation. 4.5/5. Service: Friendly, prompt and helpful. 5/5. Price: 6 people for $200 + Wines: $60 + Tax & Tip = $331.20. Would I return? Absolutely and I have!

Three friends and I dined at this gem of a restaurant. Two of us shared the best Chateaubriand that I have ever tasted- succulent, tender beef, done medium to perfection. The vegetables were so tasty; a medly of wild grilled mushrooms, garlic baked potatoes, etc. The portions were considerable but good to the last bite! My friends had the most delicate sole almondine and they both raved about it as well. For dessert we shared a mouth watering crĂȘme brulĂ©. It had a delicate but tasty crust covering the most delightful of custards. I will definitely return, and unreservedly recommend Petite Auberge for it's remarkable French Cuisine.

I have eaten at Petite Auberge many times over the years--lunches, large groups, dinners for two and four, family parties--and can honestly say I have never had a bad meal or poor service there. I believe this restaurant is overlooked because it is not in a 'hot' area of Atlanta, but is inside the perimeter in an older largely residential area. What a pity, for it offers some of the best food in town. How I wish I didn't live 25 miles away. My husband and I went there expecting to order from the special Octoberfest menu, but we found the regular menu was also in effect. We simply couldn't pass up the Beef Wellington which you almost never see on a menu anymore. Far too difficult to prepare successfully. The filet was perfect medium and the surrounding pastry was flaky and just right. The best thing was the two sauces, a generous amount of bernaise and an authentic bordelaise no doubt made from scratch using charred veal bones. With several veal dishes on the menu, I'm sure they have plenty, and the kichen knows how to use them. The garlic mashed potatoes were buttery and just lumpy enough to let you know you were eating the real thing. The combination of fresh, not frozen, vegetables on the side was lightly sauteed and not overcooked. I used some of the excess bernaise on mine. On this night we opted to have no salad or appetizer because we wanted to indulge in dessert. And indulge we did! I had creme brulee with the sugar topping melted but not burned as is often the case. Again, no question that it was made from scratch with the richest cream possible. My husband had a strawberry confection which was so good he refused to share except for one lone berry. Don't know where they got such tasty berries this time of year. Petite Auberge has a large menu with about ten appetizers, half a dozen salads, many seafood entrees, a variety of meat and chicken, ten or so desserts, and a large but modestly priced wine list. There is a full bar. Overall, it's sort of an old-fashioned menu lacking the faddish dishes of the major chain restaurants. Lest I sound like I was hired by the owners, I was disappointed by certain things but NEVER the food. The large dining room is only loosely divided so it is not an intimate dining space, and the lights were far too bright. My husband suspects this is because many of the patrons are elderly. With lots of red and with paintings and huge mirrors in ornate gold frames, the space has a formal quality. Yet the host was poorly groomed and wore a green shirt with no tie, and the waiters were casually dressed under their aprons. The black booths along one wall are aging and I sank into my seat over broken springs. Although there was a candle on our table, nobody came around to light it. The lamps on the window ledge likewise remined unlit. In all, the dining room is tired-looking and in need of attention from someone mindful of details. I can remember a time when the waiters were all middle-aged men in starched white shirts and black vests, some European, all with years of experience at tables. Our young lady was knowledgable about the food and did an adequate job of tending our table, but the service was far more casual than in years past. In spite of the aging and out-dated decor, I have always felt there were REAL cooks in the kitchen at Petite Auberge and a chef with old-fashioned ideas about quality and care in preparation. Everything about our food was outstanding. The owner may not have been happy that the dining room was only half-full on a Saturday night, but I imagine the chef was glad for the chance to make every dish perfect. If one is staying in the Lenox area, the short drive over to Toco Hills may earn you some of the best food Atlanta has to offer.

We were surprised that this long running restaurant (30 + years) was located in a shopping plaza, but the dining room was simple but elegant. The four of us enjoyed sitting one of the circular tables. My husband and I split the Four Seasons Salad comprising of mixed greens in a crisp basket, sliced tomato, heart of palm and Mushroom avocado. This portion was perfect to sample each of the four. We also shared the Oysters 3-way and our hosts also shared this tasty appetizer. As for the entrees, my husband was not happy with the veal marsala but I enjoyed my shrimp with grits. The four of us shared the baked Alaska which was flambéed tableside. The pieces of fruit around the plate were a refreshing addition as well. While the not all of our selections were great, the service was definitely top notch.

We have been dining at La Petite Auberge in Atlanta since 1974, when it was first opened by Wolfgang Gropp and Helmut Bittl. The restaurant is now owned and operated by Wolfgangâs two sons, Michael and Anthony, who have both learned from the expert hand of their father. The menu is nearly the same, with a range of good solid French food, and a great selection of Bavarian dishes. The rack of lamb is superb, the schnitzel excellent, and the service is beyond compare. Sammy has been at Petite Auberge since the day it opened and the wait staff is full of familiar faces, which is nice in this age of wandering staff. Best vichyssoise, best patĂ© and best lamb ever. Strawberries Romanoff is the perfect end to a perfect meal there.

First visit here and found it to be very nice. I would call it fine dining in an unusual location. They have gourmet olive oil here which is very good. The meals are all excellent.

If you want authentic old style European (French and German) cuisine, this is the best in Atlanta. Have you forgotten some of their menu? Start with the Wiener Schnitzel. Where else can you get it?Every thing is "old fashioned" excellent. Recipes good for 40 years!

I've been there several times, with friends and family, this time was terrible. Maybe they dumbed it down for thanksgiving, or who knows... The whole meal reminded me of what a diner might serve. For salad, I got the iceberg wedge, came with diced this and that. Turkey gumbo was on the prix fixe, not too French. Two in our party got the "leg of lamb", three very thin slices with some gravy (not sauce) on top of plain mashed potatoes. I got beef Wellington, a very nice hunk of meat. Steamed carrots and broccoli and the aforementioned bland mashed came with every plate. Desert; pecan pie HAD to be store bought. Chocolate-vanilla mousse was tasteless.

Only three family members were in town and available for Thanksgiving lunch, so European elegance became our choice. We know this neighborhood restaurant well, since it has been around for 40 years and consistently maintained an excellent reputation. None of us ordered the traditional roast turkey, even though it was a holiday menu option. Instead we chose macadamia encrusted trout, veal parmesan, and red snapper. The fish dishes were exceptional. The plentiful dessert offerings included New Orleans chocolate bread pudding and a chocolate and vanilla mousse swirl. Yum! Anyone looking for something other than the latest chic, modern, trendy restaurant in Atlanta will take comfort in the warmth and quiet essence of Petite Auberge with its excellent food and service. I highly recommend it to couples of all ages looking for a romantic dinner which includes the art of conversation.

This place was opened 30 years ago and my parents apparently ate here for their wedding rehearsal dinner the month it opened. It's been in the same place since then and we've had several family dinners here for various occasions. Dishes are very good continental European and French specialties combined with some good examples of "meat and potatoes" dishes you would find in any typical German or Austrian Gasthaus. While the food may leave some unimpressed, the service staff are always extremely professional and are some of the best, most attentive staff I've ever seen in Atlanta. Trés Bien, Petite Auberge!

We reserved the private dining room for a 60th Wedding Anniversary party with about 30 family members of all ages. Co-owners Anthony and Michael who took over the place from their father were very accommodating and helpful as we made all the arrangements. Although the restaurant is located in a non-descript strip plaza on a busy road outside the downtown core you forget about that the minute you walk in the door into a small slice of France. My wife and I arrived early to set up a few extras we wanted and were immediately greeted by Michael and introduced to our servers for the evening, offered drinks and hors d'oeuvres while we did our set up. The table settings were perfect, flowers everywhere, appropriate music at the right volume piped in and as the guests arrived the room proved just the right size for the group we had. We had pre-selected a menu that included choices of beef, trout, chicken and vegetarian pasta complemented with red and white wine selections and champagne. Everyone raved about their meal and also the efficiency of the service as the staff worked unobtrusively throughout the speeches and toasts. Had a chance to speak with Michael for several minutes about the history of the restaurant and the keys to their longevity. They have made several improvements and changes over the years but the overriding success factor is that the brothers, like their father before them, simply love being in the hospitality business and that passion shows. My only suggestion for improvement of the ambience would be window dressings for the wall of windows that faces the unattractive walkway and side of a building. We did appreciate the covered walkway from the parking lot to the front door as it was a rainy night.

We have taken guests many times to this restaurant and not one time has any guest from youngster to oldster been disappointed. A big-time family favorite.

It's a near must-do, The Petite Augerge, every time I'm in Atlanta. The hospitality for solo diners is gratifying - no looks askance from the host, no sighs from the servers (the very fine servers). The food is reliably delightful with the occasional unexpected special feature. The Strawberries Romanoff dessert is my favorite in Atlanta. The Opera Evenings sound tempting....will report.

Everything tastes homemade and very delicious each time Ive been here. The service is outstanding . Its a small menu which is nice. Whatever they do they do it well! We had the special which was the beef burgundy roast with the broccoli soup. Very good. The desserts are to die for. Theyre not huge but they are excellent. Cant say enuf about this place.

Petite Auberge has been around for 35+ years and we had not been in at least ten years, and we had a hankering for French food, so there we were, ushered inside by several friendly folks into ... a time warp. The attractive room did not appear to have changed -- black leather booths, large and small tables, carpeting, window treatments, a bar. And unlike virtually every other restaurant these days -- quiet enough to carry on a conversation without shouting. There was also a singer/guitarist (Berne) who had a pleasant voice that didn't overpower the room. She sang a variety of standards and country/folk songs. But I digress. What about the food? Rolls and olive oil with herbs arrived. They were just OK. We ordered two classics as entrees -- Beef Wellington and Chicken Cordon Bleu. Why not go all the way when you're going old school? The dishes were classically prepared and were very large portions. I've had better but they were good. The accompanying garlic mashed potatoes were not as successful; there were some lumps and it was slightly gelatinous. I would go back, but there are better alternatives.

We usually visit this restaurant for October fest. Unassuming outside warm friendly inside. Excellent food and German Beer. So when I happened to see they had a special for Valentines I didn't hesitate. It was a 5 course meal. My wife had the mixed crab appetizer, mixed greens salad, lobster bisque, Lobster tails over risotto, and Creme Brulee for desert. I had the Braised short rib appetizer, Caesar salad, lobster bisque, Prime Rib, and Bread Pudding for Desert. EXQUISITE meal! We had arrived early for our reservations so we took advantage of their olive oil tasting and their balsamic vinegar tastings, 27 in all and all were excellent. We will definitely purchase our olive oils and Balsamic from here!!

This was our first time here and we will definitely will return. Petite Auberge was everything it was advertised to be, and much more. The Chateaubriand for two was cooked to perfection and the Bearnaise sauce was the best we have eaten in years, including numerous visits to France.

Recently had dinner at an historic Atlanta restaurant. I remember dining at Petite Auberge many years ago when the establishment was being run by the founder and father of his two sons who manage it today. The dining room is large and gracious and a bit of a throwback with white table cloths and candles on the tables. The menu is distinctly French but the German roots of the founder provides for a number of German dishes including my favorite, bratwurst. On this evening my fiance had mushroom salad which featured a mustard-based dressing. It was quite good and the portion was generous. I had a spinach salad which was also quite tasty. She had a lovely gumbo as a main course and it featured shrimp, chicken and chunks of Andouille sausage. Of course I had to try it and I liked the flavor, although it could have used a bit more "zest" for my taste. I selected the chicken cordon bleu which was served over a bed of mashed potatoes, carrots and broccoli. It was tasty and, once again the portion was generous. We were too full to eat dessert. It was a bit weird eating in a restaurant that was quite empty. For some reason on this Tuesday evening there was virtually no patrons but that did not stop the wait staff from being courteous and attentive. Knowing the brothers who own this establishment makes it even more interesting and I noted that they now sell flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegar. There is also a large room in back for private parties, weddings, tastings, etc. If you are in the Toco Hills area, stop by and have lunch of dinner here. Lovely family-owned restaurant with a delightful atmosphere.

Was taken to lunch by locals to this great Resturant. Food and service was top tier. Must try this local treasure.

Very good French and Continental cuisine; extensive wine list; attentive service, even for solo diner. So nice to dine in a non-chain restaurant and long-time favorite spot in Atlanta.

We made a trip to Atlanta on 3/7/2015. It has been a while since we had gone there but to our pleasure, nothing had changed. The Lamb Chops were excellent as per my husband and my Beef Wellington was perfection. To top it off, a rare treat for me is Baked Alaska because it is hard to find a restaurant that makes it. They did not let me down, it was as good as ever. Wished I could make that 2 hour trip more often to eat there. It is a special place with fantastic servers.

I found Petite Auberge while looking for Beef Wellington in Atlanta. Not only did I find the beef wellington I was looking for, I found my new favorite romantic dinner spot. As soon as you walk in, it's like you've been have been transported to a nice quiet French restaurant with a reserved, elegant atmosphere. The wait staff seems to be very knowledgeable and are quick to offer menu and drink suggestions. I'm not a big fan of pate while my wife loves it. I actually find their version to be quite good. The Beef Wellington surpassed my expectations and their lamb is exceptional! The menu items are served with complementary sides items and sauces that seem to go perfectly with the entree. The desserts are very good and the drink selection is very nice. I would to see draft beer, but they have a good selection of imports available by the bottle. This is definitely a great place for a nice romantic dinner.

We were in the mood for a traditional French meal and this place did not disappoint. The variety, the courses and the service were all very good. If you are in the Druid Hills area of Atlanta you should Petite Auberge a try. I understand that it has been around for years and it is clear why.

I have dined at the Petite Auberge for 35 years. The decor has been updated and the menu offerings have expanded a bit, but for a wonderful, old-school dining experience, you must visit the Petite. The wait staff are knowledgeable and friendly and will take very good care of you. Start with the Mushroom Ritz salad with its avocado dressing, or go for the Four Seasons salad where you will get a taste of the Ritz along with the other salads on the plate. For an entree you cannot go wrong with the Beef Wellington, the scallops or the trout almondine. The sea bass on my last visit was fabulous. Order what looks good to you with confidence, because I guarantee it will be delicious! For dessert, order the chocolate mousse, the crepes or the strawberries Romanoff. If you call in advance, they will prepare Baked Alaska for you, tableside. Do not be put off that this restaurant is in the middle of Toco Hills Shopping Center. Once you step inside, you leave the busyness of Atlanta behind. Enjoy!!

I have eaten at this restaurant more that 50 time through the years and I have never been disappointed! The food is delicious and the service is excellent! I like so much the food at this restaurant that I have celebrated some of my birthdays with my friends here as well as some of my anniversaries with my husband. This is one of the few restaurants that I have ever given a great review and will keep going back!

Petite Auberge has been a favorite restaurant of ours for years. It is a place where we know we can go to be able to relax, enjoy a good wine, and a good meal, and never is the noisy boisterous place that we sometimes find when we go to other similar restaurants. A couple of other more expensive french restaurants we have gone to (and regretted) in the Atlanta area have the seating arranged such that you are almost elbow to elbow with the party seated next to you, and you will clearly hear each other's conversations, intentional or not. Not so at Petite Auberge. Their seating is arranged such that you can have a conversation with the person(s) you went with, and not feel that your privacy is being invaded upon. The wait staff is always courteous and professional and happy to answer a question for you or find an answer for you when necessary. They are attentive without being overly so, and not pushy about getting you in and out in a hurry. Regarding the food, I have ordered the filet mignon, and although I like mine at least medium-well, was able to cut it with a fork due to its tenderness. They once had Coq au Vin on the menu, but changed the menu and took it off, but anytime I go there and request it , they always make it for me, with boneless breast, which I like better, some of the other restaurants have served it to me with bone-in and the chicken was raw near the bone, nothing to ruin the appetite more than the thought of good ole salmonella poisoning. Yea, yea, I know it is traditionally made with bone-in chicken, but since I don't eat the bones, I don't care about that. All in all, really good food for a very reasonably priced menu offering.

Reserved online, through Open Table. Nice restaurant by the looks, good atmosphere, even though for the restaurant like this you should have an appropriate staff. 2 waiters: 1 too loud, the other is inexperienced and shy-had to ask for the wine menu!? I liked live music and my family enjoyed it too. I like appetizers-pate and shrimp cocktail, and the bread. My wife ordered lamb chops and trust me that was not the best like others are saying. Sea bass was good but spinach was so salty even my wife could not eat it. For French restaurant you should expect more and get more!

This visit was met with a new entree--the herb rubbed roasted prime rib. It was absolutely exquisite and served with a mild creamy horseradish sauce and au jus. The house-made Pate Maison was also excellent. This month Petite Auberge has added some 30+ olive oils and vinegars in a boutique for sampling and purchase. This is always is top-notch and classy spot in Atlanta.

Excellent French/Continental dining. Perfect dinner for two or party of ten. Food great, service is even better. If not on your first visit, then certainly on your next, try any steak dish. Truly a hidden gem. Maybe the best steak in Atlanta - that includes Bones, Peter Luger's, etc.. Any visit is incomplete without the baked alaska. Uniquely covered with fresh fruit, it's a whole different - and better- desert. Make sure to call ahead and order, since it's not on the menu. No kids' menu, so leave the chicken finger crowd at home. Older kids should find plenty to enjoy. Can't wait to go back.

Great food and great service. Not too pricey and more laid back than you might expect.

Enjoyed nice dinner with an even older couple from out of town. They and we really liked. Service was prompt and friendly. Food portions were generous. Could have split most entrees. French onion soup was really good. Prices reasonable. Had a very good singer to entertain without overpowering us. Will go back.

We went with a group of friends after our bookclub meeting. There were 10 of us. The service was excellent. They have a nice menu selection & a reasonsble & varied price range. I had the Coquille St. Jacques. It was one of the more expensive items on the menu at $26.95. it was worth every penny. It was served with whipped potatoes & a garlic sauteed spinach. There were 4 large scallops. The sauce & seasoning were divine. The presentation was also very nice. My wife shared the trout with someone. It was large portion & delicious. We shared a few desserts. The baked Alaska is a not to miss item. It was prepared tableside. It was delicious. Petite Auberge is closing January 1st & moving to another location. They acquired Violette & will be moving there. The space at Violette is smaller & very noisy. The food at Violette, the last time I was there was not very good. I hope that changes.

Service was great and my salmon was cooked perfectly and served piping hot. I wish more people would dine here! It was not full for a Friday night.

We went for an early dinner on a Saturday afternoon. There were not many people at the restaurant. The service was great, attentive, and at a good speed. We had rack of lamb and Wiener Schnitzel. Both of the items were very good. I also had red cabbage which was excellent. All in all a very good dinner at a very reasonable price. we will definitely go back

We had never been to this restaurant but based on the reviews, we were looking forward to a great experience. As others have commented, the exterior is unprepossessing, but the interior was warm and welcoming. Service was great and our meals were very good, with the exception that all the steaks came out medium rare. That worked for me, but my husband had ordered well done so he was quite disappointed. The real kicker, though, came with the beautifully served baked Alaska, which had not one or two but FOUR hairs in it. Sadly, we won't be back because we simply don't trust their kitchen cleanliness, even though the manager did comp that dessert.

Came off the road and went straight to dinner here, incredible menu, service was top-notch. Everything we had was wonderful. Have been here many times through the years and they are consistently good. Great atmosphere, not loud and raucous. Beautiful experience.

This is one of my favorite restaurants and meeting spots. Both lunch & dinner are fantastic. The elegant interior makes for a great place to meet for just drinks or that important business lunch/dinner. The prices are reasonable and the wine selection carefully chosen. The staff is attentive and you feel like family from the first moment you enter until the next. The décor is fabulous French antiques with romantic banquettes. The seasonal menu items are always a pleasant surprise. Located in a strip mall and hidden away, you enter through beautiful awnings and outside café area. You too will become a regular and will have to make the choice, which special person you decide to tell.

Stopped here for dinner before a show. The wait staff took care to ensure timely service. Good food in a pleasant atmosphere. In summary, nice people, good food, good wine and all that. Would recommend.

This restaurant is a gem in the neighborhood. Quiet, fine dining - linen table cloths - well dressed waitstaff - a well varied menu and wine list. Service is excellent as is the food. I would recommend this restaurant for couples and foursomes.

Petite Auberge has been an 'old school' neighborhood icon for years. The menu has barely changed over the years; however, the food keeps getting better and better! I have been coming here for years and have never had a disappointing meal. However, at my visit this time, the food preparation, presentation, and amazing flavor was 'kicked up a notch'. I dined here with 3 friends who all have dined here over the years, and they all agreed that their meal this time was incredible. I had the Sea Bass Florentine with mashed potatoes...I thought I had died and gone to heaven...it was incredibly good! Two others had the Coquille St. Jacques...it was so good it brought tears of joy (it was amazing!). The other entree was the tenderloin...perfectly cooked and wonderful as well. We had the added pleasure of being serenaded by a singer with acoustic guitar singing softly...it was delightful!

The service was excellent and friendly. We had sauerbraten for lunch and the best I've had in the States-sure beats making it yourself. Since it was a cold rainy day, we had the 3 course lunch-starting with chili(delicious, but not West Texas), The sauerbraten, followed by the best chocolate mousse I've eaten in a long time. Presentation was outstanding. All for $14 each. Outstandin value!

Enjoyed a great dinner with 2 other couples. We split the steak medallion entree and a Caesar salad. Both were excellent. Portions we large enough to split. We also split a chocolate mousse dessert that was excellent and so large we did not finish. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food. Service seemed slow especially since they were not very crowded but the quality of food made the wait well worth it. Staff also very polite and helpful. A real treat and we will be back!!!

I have eaten there in years past and completely forgot about the place. The table side preparation was so nice to see. The menu takes me back to a happy place and included all the classics. I will be a frequent guest. Also love the infused olive oils and balsamic vinegars. There was a little lady singing and playing the guitar to make the atmosphere charming. It looks like the same crowd from the Colonade if you know what I mean. So those people know good food and service! See you soon Petite Auberge!!!

Admittedly we had very high expectations following all the glowing reviews. Service was excellent and their prix fixe lunch is a great deal Onion soup is the real thing and not to be missed. Also the dessert was excellent. But the entres selected were disapointing. My chicken was dry and powdery and the schnitzel was ok, bit dry. Considering the price for the meal, proper white table cloth service, its a good deal

What a wonderful meal. Beef Wellington done to perfection, carrots so tender you can cut with a fork. My wine tasted old and corked. Kudos to the manager who came over to our table immediately and suggested I try another wine, if that was not satisfactory he would open a new bottle. The musician played Edith Piaf {could it get any better?]. Server was very pleasant and accommodating. The manager treated us to strawberries Romanoff for desert. I will be returning to this restaurant.

We have enjoyed this delightful restaurant several times in the past years when we visit my dad's first cousin. Sunday we were delighted to enjoy their Sunday Brunch. We are NEVER disappointed and have come for lunch and dinner as well. Wish we could come back to enjoy their Thanksgiving menu...it looks amazing! We will be back!

Petite Auberge features French cuisine and excellent, professional service. It's a "white tablecloth" restaurant, and I don't think you can find an unsatisfactory item on the menu. Plenty of easy parking since it is in a shopping mall. In summer 2013 they added a tasting bar featuring flavored vinegars and oils.

This restaurant has been our favorite for over 25 years. From the outside it doesn't stand out in its location in Toco Hills Shopping Center, but the inside is upscale, very nicely furnished, and very comfortable. The food is predominately French and German. Our favorite is the Rack of Lamb and we have never been disappointed. Most of the clientele are locals, who like us, return time and time again. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice relaxing evening in a nice restaurant with very good food and a nice wine list.

Wonderful food, elegant surroundings, white linen tablecloths and napkins, crystal chandeliers... What more could you ask for? Good question. How about incredible food because that's what they have. I've been going to this restaurant for almost 40 years and it's still very very excellent I just love their Oktoberfest German menu for dinner. lunch prices are some of the best in Atlanta for the quality of food
Great Food
My first trip to Petite Auberge was a wonderful eating experience. The decor is very nice inside. They had live entertainment, a singer. It was not very noisy like most restaurants are today. The menu has a very nice variety and the prices are very reasonable. The service was excellent. I had the bouillabaisse which was fantastic. It was served in a clear broth with a good size lobster tail, sea bass, salmon & shrimp & served with garlic bread for dipping. It was very tasty. My wife had the Coquille St. Jacques. Served with mashed potatoes & asparagas it was excellent. We were too full for dessert but the dessert menu looked very nice. Prices are very reasonable. This place has been here for 40 years. They must be doing something right.
