Having lived 7 years in Philadelphia, and hold Jim's Cheesesteaks on South Street as the benchmark by which all cheese steaks are judged, I occasionally find myself really wanting a good "Phili" cheese steak. I stumble on this place last fall, after playing golf at the East Moreland golf course. I have been back 3 time since. To have a good cheese steak, the roll has to be right, the meat the right thickness, cooked & seasoned just right with grilled onions and mushrooms. They have got it RIGHT every time. Yes the sandwich price is $10.75, but they do not skimp on the meat and two adults could split one sandwich. There is usually only 1 cook, so service can be slow if you arrive at a busy time. It took about 20 minutes from order to table today. It's worth the drive! They do have 1/2 priced sandwiches every Monday from 5:30-9:00 PM, eat in only.

Nice beer selection, do a tasting menu or simply take a pine of your favorite. A special mix for the ladies who's not terribly into beers, ask for a cherry wit and cider mix. You will not be disappointed. Perfect summer drink! Food is freshly prepared and generous in portion. While waiting for food, sit outside and enjoy a brew. It's especially a nice and convenient place to hang out and refuel in the gorgeous summer of Oregon. I love the simplicity and no-frillness of this place. There is happy hour and special food discount on Mondays. Always come hungry/thirsty and leave completely satisfied.

Been coming here for 15+ years. Service has always been slow but the food WAS good. These days, the food is average on a good day, prices are ridiculous and the place is dirty.

We were in search of new to us Breweries and chose to drink at eat first at 13 Virtues. I first heard of them at our Winter Beer Festival and liked their beer. The place has a deli feel. with a slicer and some east coast style Hoagies and such for food. They have 10 plus beers on tap. We chose the turkey hoagie and Chicken Parmesan hoagie and a beer taster. The sandwiches were fresh sliced meats and fresh toppings. The beers were good, the food was good. Not fancy dining, but good even if a bit pricey. a great beer addition to Sellwood

I came here cause I wanted a sub. Arrived on Saturday morning and they don't have bread. No bread! Your a freaking sandwich shop!! Mind blowing. Time to find another sandwich shop. Ridiculous!!!

We had a short 2 beers long stop here. It was lunch time so there was a lot people eating or buying food to go. The beer list was impressive. 23 beers on taps. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to stay longer. Their Barrel Aged Stout was excellent and habanero ale drinkable. Very affordable prices.

As a semi-serious, self proclaimed Craft Beer and Cheesesteak aficionado, I would give this place a solid 4 stars for their somewhat limited selection of brews (10-15 total options; the Habanero Rye was my favorite, deliciously/subtly spiced to near perfection) and their VERY TASTY, albeit kind of lightweight Cheesesteaks. I went with the classic, my buddy wisely ordered the Pizzasteak sandwich with EXTRA MEAT ($2-3 more) which about doubled the amount of ingredients within the savory, soft rolls they use from Portland Bakery. Both sandwiches were extremely satisfying, except I could have easily eaten two, whereas my buddy only finished half of his. Get extra meat! It is seasoned well and pretty much exactly what I imagine when dreaming of Cheesesteaks, just needs more meat n cheese! There is a small amount of bar seating, upper and lower level tables for dining, and a pretty low-key, neighborhoody/local spot vibe to the tasting room decor and customer service. Worth the visit for the beer or Cheesesteak, together or alone. Thanks! Best, ~S

Have been to this place for takeout for years yet with the rising prices unlikely to return. Almost 10 bucks for some sandwiches, really? Good micro brew and they look to be adding more outdoor seating deck space which will be nice for those dry P-land days to chill & sip a brew!

Every time I eat at Philly, it seems to be better. Quality meat and always cooked just right. If you like Philly's, you need to try this place.

Overpriced and mediocre food. The place is dirty, the beer is warm, and the service is bad. I have tried it twice, both for lunch and dinner, and have left unsatisfied.

My wife and I grew up on Philadelphia cheese steaks living in the Philadelphia area. As we moved around the country the hunt was on for an authentic cheese steak wherever we lived. We have tried every restaurant we could find in the Portland area that features cheese steaks. None have been better than Philadelphias in Milwaukee, OR. They fly the hoagie rolls in from Amarosa's In Philadelphia. They make their own sweet peppers. Then they grill the thinly sliced beef with onions and top with provolone cheese, Yum!

This is a great place to stop off and grab a sub for lunch or head to after work for a couple of beers. It's got my vote for best cheesesteak in town. They are always working on something new in the back (the brewery) to add to their impressive list. The staff is great and the restaurant is clean. I make sure I make a stop here every time I come to town.

Tried this place today for the first time. I have been trying (without success) to find a legit cheesesteak / hoagie place in Portland. Awesome. 10 out of 10. Yay. Meat was great. Bread was great. Beer was good while I waited.

Have been there many times The beer is enjoyable and I like the fact that they have Tasteycakes a Phila staple..The steaks and hoagies however are pale imitation of the real thing

Hard to describe, but this is the worst Philly I have ever had. I think I had been to this place years ago, before it was 13 virtues Brewing Co. I did not eat much of this,

The brewery in partnership with this sandwich shop. I had never had a steak sandwich so I tried it 2 stars so salty. The Turkey sandwich was better and you put toppings on yourself like mustard and dressings. The bread is good. They offer salads which are the strongest representation of vegetarian food here. We tasted 7 beers and I would drink any of them right now........

I love this place...you can get a great sanwich with really exceptional microbrew beer. I tried the porter and the IPA, both were excellent. Also, when I ordered beer they told me that it was happy hour and pints were less less than $3 each. You can not do beeter than that in Portland.
Get your growler filled here...
A good selection of beers to fill your growler. Not too many to be overwhelming. Friendly and helpful staff. The sandwiches are 7/10 in being close to a true Philly sandwich in comparison to street carts in the city of Philadelphia.
