You gotta try the fish amok.

By Rowenn |

I found out this place thru Couchsurfing Seattle and did not know we have a Cambodian place here! So I invited my gfriends and an Irish friend who is leaving for Dublin in a few hours. We were just there tonight. I was in Cambodia in 2011 and haven't had Khmer food since. So I thought I'd give it a try. Oh boy, their fish amok is so spot on!! Just like what I had in Siem Reap! To die for! My friends also ordered Me Tang dishes and they were good they said! We had 6 dishes for 6 of us to share. We also had some chicken grill and fried crab rice which were tasty. Service is good, our attendant was Cambodian :) The portions are aplenty! And we even had some take home for lunch! For $56 for 6 dishes, 6 people and 2 drinks, not bad at all! Will come back here again. They have a $6.50 seafood soup? You kidding? This got to be one of the cheapest place in town! 4 stars!!! How could I not know about this place a year ago?? Recommendation: So if you haven't tried the amok, I believe it's Cambodia's national food, dude, you gotta try it! It's basically a fish or chicken/beef dish in coconut milk, with a bit chillies, and some herbs that makes it different from the curry dishes from Thailand or India. I heart Cambodia and would love to go back there just for their food! The people are also nice there. Now I get it why Angeline Jolie loved it there.

No. 9 rocks!

Been coming here for years! Always order their No. 9 noodle soup, one of the best anywhere! Always tasty and consistently great :).

Pretty Good Spiced Beef Stew with Noodles

By Phanny S |

On a cold, wet January Sunday, decided to try Foursome Beef Noodles -- the Cambodian spiced beef stew came with meat balls, sliced beef, and honeycomb tripe served with wide rice noodles. It wasn't the best noodle soup I've had, but it appeared to be busy at lunch time. My advice is to offer friendlier service!

Good food

By Chanthon K |

This is our first time there and I would recommend the fried prawns in the appetizer section and the crab fried rice in the entree section. They're amazing. The coffee is delicious. The duck is a bit salty and the pumpkin custard is kind of bland. We would go back and try other things on the menu.

Love the service and the food, but not the location

By Travel2Food |

Phnom Penh Noodle House/Seattle, WA: Only one thing we want to request: they need to expand to North Seattle. We would come there every week. China town is too crowded and no parking.... Love the service and the food, but not the location.....

Apprehensive initially but overcometh !

By Highadventurer |

Having been to Angkor wat and seen the abject poverty in Siem Reap and stayed away from local exotic dishes, I was pleasantly surprised with the recomendations by the helpful family owned proprietors ! Every one knows what to expect from thai, vietnamese and malaysian food which has made their mark in global cities and entered in mainstream dining fare. Cambodian food has some distance to travel unless you have been to that country We had the square box noodles, seafood soup rice noodles and they turn out good ! To each his/ her own, cambodian as with myammese food have not caught on 也太and needs more ”word to mouth” referrals. Big competitor from Harbour City up the street which offers more familiar food And i don't mean chow mein, egg fuyong, chop suey, sweet and sour pork !

Only game in town for Cambodian

By Andrew H |

This is a family restaurant that's apparently been in Seattle for quite some time. It's right in the International District and has a healthy variety of dishes.

Best Cambodian Beef Noodles in the World!

By WorldTraveller |

This place has the best Cambodian Beef Noodles in the world! We both ordered the Goo Nam noodles and each bowl was like a piece of heaven. So delicious! We also had the chicken wings as well as the pork bone soup that both tasted so good and so yummy as well. The restaurant is tucked in a relatively obscure part of town, but it was definitely worth a short drive here to savour the amazing food and hospitality.

Excellent Vegetarian Dishes

By Edelweisbewunderer |

Enjoyed vegetarian noodle soup and sauteed veggies. Good fruit drink and young coconut juice. Nice staff.

Classic Seattle Cambodian

By loveDCA |

This is a classic Cambodian restaurant that's been around since the 80's and started by a survivor of the killing fields (you can buy his biography at the front desk). The food is delicious - we had the Battambang noodles (veggie), the red curry fish, and of course, the famous chicken wings. Everything was delicious and service was great (and quick).

AMAZING!

A must eat. I also bought a great book from there and had it autographed as well. The food and service were top notch and I will come back if I can.

AMAZING!

Wonderful Cambodian and Indochinese food. Quite reasonably priced. If you like really authentic taste, REJOICE!!! Every item on this menu is a mouthgasm and when the menu says "spicy" it really IS spicy. This is a rarity in Seattle. RUN DON"T WALK TO THIS PLACE

Great place Great Food

I eat here 4 times a month. I come for the wings! Get the wings! The best ever!

More than just Cambodian cuisine

By myinhilo |

Different Southeast Asian dishes are prepared at this long established family-owned restaurant in Chinatown International District. A recent visit with a first-timer resulted in rave review from him for the chicken wings and grilled meats. Fish amok and Cambodian soup noodle are some of my other favorites. Service is excellent and decor is pleasant. One of the best places to get a different meal in Seattle.

Delicious Dinner

By Vala R |

Loved this restaurant! We went with a large group. They accommodated us, even though we were there late. They were so kind and gave us great service - chicken noodle soup, Loc Lak and everything else was delicious!

Was unsure but now we are sold on the Noodle House

By Jacob r |

Was unsure about eating here at first never having been that fond of Asian foods in general but we decided to give it a try and we were pleasantly surprised If the noodle house sets the bar for Cambodian food then I believe we shall certainly be opening up our minds and stomachs to much more in the future

Cook must have no taste buds

By Shade Kat |

I have eaten here so many times with no issues until these past few months. The good yard to be so good but more it's so salty! A month ago I ordered a noodle soup dish and was brought something that tasted like ramen noodle soup from the the bag, the one you buy for $0.50 or less at the store. It was so salty and the sauce wasn't even mixed well. Thinking it might be me I didn't eat it and left it at that. Yesterday I took my mom to eat and we ordered congee and their noodle special. My mom said it was salty so I tasted both and sure enough it was. The congee was not as bad as the noodle soup. The waiter heard us taking about it being salty but didn't do anything. I finally sent it back and was told by the waiter that he knew it was salty. The replacement soup was a joke as they brought us the same bowl which they had added water to the broth to lessen the saltiness. It was like eating watered down soup. WTF? The quality of food has gone down lately. More than one person needs to taste what the cook is cooking before they send it out. Will not be eating here again.

The number 1 is my favourite. All the other is good except the last one ( the noodle for vegetarian). Doughnut is tasty...

The number 1 is my favourite. All the other is good except the last one ( the noodle for vegetarian). Doughnut is tasty and not oily at all.

Great Asian food in Seattle!

By rzsandoval |

Went here on a Sunday night and there was ample room. All of the food was really good (and I'm from the SF Bay Area so I know asian food)! I especially liked the Samlaw Machou Kroeung Samot Soup, salty fish with vegetables, and the Mee Katang Phnom Penh with crispy egg noodles. Service was excellent, and they were very helpful for taking care of kids (they even gave us a pair of scissors to cut up the food for the kids). Very friendly and helpful wait staff. Only drawback is that this is in a not so safe part of town (although we were fine walking at night there).

Great noodle options

By vamsally |

After coming back from Cambodia, this place didn't have the flavors I sought, but it does offer good array of noodle dishes. If non-vegetarian, I'd try their crispy noodle dish at least once with meat (or vegetables). It's interresting dish worth a try.

Legit and delicious

By Jon1796 |

A sweet find in a city full of Asian gastronomic delights... Legit Khmer cuisine - total bonus that they actually serve egg soda (delicious!). I came for the amok and was not disappointed - looks like they bake it in a casserole dish instead of steaming in a banana leaf... But tasty nonetheless so j don't subtract too many points. One of the best $15 lunches I have had in recent memory.

Wonderful Cambodian food, lovely setting, great service.

By VJ R |

This lovely place, tucked in an unassuming building in Seattle's International District, is a delightful discovery. Very good food, at reasonable prices. I had the Mee Katang with crispy noodles) served quickly by friendly staff. The restaurant was founded by Sam Ung, a refugee from Cambodia's infamous Killing Fields. His autobiography is quietly displayed at the counter - a heart-wrenching story. I look forward to returning to this restaurant, run by Sam Ung & his family, to explore more of the extensive menu.

Mounds of deliciousness

By Barbie |

Went here on the recommendation of my son. There are a variety of different meat, seafood and vegetarian options at this unassuming but clean restaurant in the International area. The size of the portions are enormous. Meat is wonderfully spiced and there are extra condiments on the table.

Delicious food, friendly staff

This was my first time trying Cambodian food. We went around noon on a Sunday and while the restaurant was busy there was no waiting for a table or for service. I ordered the Sachko Ji Kra Hom. The beef dish was amazing. I would order it again. Everything about our experience was terrific.

I usually order #10, or...

By Safari56184 |

I usually order #10, or if I don't want soup, #17. But pretty much anything here is good. Most of the people I go with order #1 (Seafood noodle).

Great food,great price.

Peaceful place with really yummy food served by a sweet young woman.

Remodelled Restaurant

By V H |

Best spot in Seattle for Cambodian foods (some Vietnamese and Chinesse dishes are available). The restaurant went through a quick remodel recently (nothing major, just new paint, some fixture, removed some of the junks/decoration. Cleaner/Brighter space. Wide selection of noodle dishes (soup, fried, crunchy) with different combination of protein (beef, chicken, pork and seafoods). I go here once a week from Downtown Seattle for lunch (quick walk from the ID light-rail station).

Following a write up in Seattle Magazine (Jan 2013)

By hjr57 |

Recent Seattle Magazine did an in-depth review of noodle restaurants (January 2013 cover story). The full page picture of the Mee Katang definitely caught our eye. We stopped in for lunch yesterday while shopping in Seattle. The Mee Katang with rice egg noodles and beef looked exactly as pictured. It was excellent. A large portion that was very reasonably priced. Our other meals and take our orders also got high marks. Don’t be dissuaded by the seemingly store front as you drive by. When you enter it opens into a large restaurant with comfortable seating and very efficient and friendly staff. Definitely will go again next time in Seattle.

Nice lunch

By Ruth M |

I had Chicken with Broccoli. It was very tasty and a large portion. It was served with noodles. Since it was Cambodian, I thought it would taste a bit different than other from a Chinese restaurant but it was pretty much the same. I enjoyed the meal and service. I would go back.

this is a real gem

By NWroamer11 |

we ate here with another couple before going to a nearby play. What a surprise, tucked away in the ID. VERY clean, attentive service, excellent bountiful food. We share a big bowl of duck soup and had lots left over. My red fish curry dish was spicy and fresh, husband loved his noodle dish. plentiful and a bargain. No complaints. Small crowd. Go here.

1st time Cambodian - delicious!

By Nomad0921 |

We were in Seattle's Chinatown and went to Phnom Penh on a local recommendation for lunch. What a lucky break! We were seated quickly as the restaurant filled up. Dawn took our order as quickly and we were soon dining on huge portions of luc loc and duck noodles. I had the duck, a good portion of sliced duck in a savory, not too salty chicken broth with thin rice noodles and cut scallions, it was delicious! The luc loc was cut beef with rice and salad, equally delicious. Both dishes were at a modest price point and filling without being overly so. We'd return to Phnom Penh next time we're in the area.

Excellent, authentic, well-priced Cambodian food

By cool_jonez |

We are heading to Cambodia soon, and wanted to pre-sample some authentic cuisine. Phnom Penh Noodle House came highly recommended. The service is excellent; the restaurant is owned by a Cambodian family that fled the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s, and have since passed the restaurant on to their adult daughters. We had the pleasure of speaking with the young owner during dinner, and she is both welcoming and knowledgeable. My husband is a chef, and we have been all over SE Asia. This food is fantastic. We had the Battambang Noodles, the Chicken Wings, curries, and the Phnom Penh regional dish amok (fish curry in a banana leaf). This dish in particular is highly recommended. If you are looking for authentic SE Asian/Cambodian cuisine, this is the place to hit in Seattle. My only suggestion: It's only open until 8:30pm on a Saturday night!!!

Just WOW!!

By STPGO |

We went here beyond excited because we don't have Cambodian restaurants in our area (DC). We were completely wowed! The food was incredible!!! It's as authentic as you can get, and unbelievable delicious!! We went back at the end of our week touring the PNW, it was that good! Between our two visits we ordered 12 dishes and all of them were incredible! Our fav was the prahok ktiss and the amok, so soooo good! My husband also really loved their wings and the battered fried shrimp dish. They sell the hot sauce (with the sesame seeds and peanuts) that they serve at the table and we brought three bottles home. We didn't get to try any of the noodles, we didn't want to get stuffed on one dish, LOL!! I'm so sad that we are at the other end of the country and can not have this every day! Also, the service was great!!! Everyone was so nice!! One guy came and sat with us for a little bit to chat. Just loved everything about this place!!

Good Noodles

This was my first time having Cambodian noodles and the soup I ordered was tasty. Very similar to Vietnamese pho. The restaurant is located in Chinatown just a few blocks east of the International District Metro stop.

Cambodian and more

By SunnyBainbridge |

I have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Try the Nohm salad, any of the soups, and Mee Katang. The English speaking staff will help you navigate through the menu.

Perfectly delicious

By BobB3 |

Had a few hours afternoon the cruise and before the flight and was hungry for dome good southeast Asian cuisine. So i strolled through Pioneer Square over to China and casually stumbled intorno this noodle shop. Didn't take long to catch on that I had chosen well. Friendly service amd absolutely delicious food. I highly recommend this place and can't with to make it back to Seattle for another taste!

Stunning Cambodian

By user1089r |

Yesterday for lunch we happened onto Phnom Penh Noodle House on King Street in Seattle, in the "international district". Of the several excellent dishes we had, the most astoundingly good was the A-Mok Trei, a kind of casserole with red curry, "white fish", lemon grass, kaffir lime, and maybe zodoary served on a mild-tasting leafy Asian vegetable. This is a dish that I know I will never forget for my whole life. It is that tasty. Luckily the owner/chef's daughter happened to wait on us and provided detailed and educational info about the various choices. Afterward we asked if we could speak with Sam the owner/chef and had a long, amiable conversation about his various cuisinary exploits over the last three decades in America. He turned out to be extremely open about his recipes. We viewed his extensive scrapbook with photos of him with Gore and Clinton and innumerable photos of food art that Sam has produced for large functions during his years in Seattle. I was so taken with the a-mok trei that I got a to-go order and had it AGAIN today for lunch, reheated at home. I was afraid that it would suffer in the process, but it proved to travel quite well. Every bite I took I kept thinking "This cannot be this good, this cannot be this good." I hope you agree with my opinion -- I heartily recommend you give it and the other dishes a try. Besides Cambodian, there are also Thai and Chinese appetizers, entrees, soups, noodle soups. By the way, contrary to the info in the entry, this restaurant is open from 11a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, not for breakfast. It is a pretty place, not terribly large, but a good deal larger than it appears from the outside. I felt at ease as soon as we walked in. Enjoy!

Worst over cooked chicken!! No one cared

By TripleM_99 |

Although the interior of this place is quite relaxing, the food was very disappointing for me and my Asian partner. We eat out at many Asian restaurants in our city. The chicken with ginger we ordered tasted like dried out Turkey meat and looked over cooked as soon as it was placed on the table. I couldn't cut through some leather like pieces. Must have left it on the stove forever. The restaurant should have known it was not something to serve. They were busy at lunch so maybe they did t care. Never asked us how anything tasted. No tip. Definitely would avoid this place.

Delicious and refreshing noodle soups

By Tracy H |

Noodle soups is my all time favorite food category. There are dozens of them to choose from so I can never get sick of it. I've been frequenting PPNH for decades! I was heartbroken when they closed for a while but was elated for their reopening at this new location. The #1 noodle soup has been my favorite. It's very similar to the Vietnamese version called Hu Tieu Nam Vang. Their other dishes are good too but this is my go-to. To me, this noodle soup, especially the one from PPNH, is by far superior to pho. So why dock 1 star? I noticed that ever since the reopening, the flavor changed slightly. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the parents not being in the picture therefore their recipe has changed or if my taste preference has changed. Either way, the broth is quite on the salty side. Most of the time I'll water it down by adding some of my drinking water to the broth. Another thing I noticed is that their hours can be sporadic. I've went there on a random Saturday one day to find it was closed. Despite those 2 minor complaints, I will be back time and time again for that delicious bowl of soup.

Best Lok Lak anywhere

By tetsuo-san |

I highly recommend this popular Cambodian restaurant in the heart of Seattle's International District. My preferred dish is Lok Lak which is some of the most tender beef tips you'll ever have. There are many other wonderful rice, noodle, soup dishes and the Cambodian tea is a must as well.

Good food & cosy environment

By Ewe Lee Ong |

Food was good. Selection is quite wide. Staff was very friendly. Overall was quite pleasantly surprised on the quality of food as the restaurant doesn't look that good from the outside.... check it out & happy eating
