Located on the edge of Chinatown, this place has been around for a long time and is consistent. I've been coming here for decades and have always enjoyed the dishes here- everything from appetizers, soups to rice plates. They also have a nice selection of drinks too- from traditional french pressed Vietnamese iced coffee to popular boba flavors. Its a mom and pops so service is standard for your pho restaurant and the service/food is quick. There's not usually a long wait if any but this place does get busy. Its a popular lunch spot for downtown workers, locals and the cops. There's plenty of metered street parking in the area.

the goi cuon and the peanut sauce here is the best i've had.

Just great Vietnamese food! Ate here years ago -- was super then & is super now. In 2 1/2 days in LA, we ate here twice, its that good.

Title says it all. Best. Pho. Hands down! Service is good and food other than pho is also very delicious!

This place is amazing. If you like pho, this is the place to go. The #2 is my go to and the egg rolls are pretty awesome too.

Went there because my friend wants to challenge the phozilla. Food is about average but pricey. The phozilla is enormous.

Tucked on a quiet street corner this little gem delivers authentic food at a good price. We have the #70 combination platter, Pho and vegetarian noodles. The food was delicious and the portions were large. We all left full with food to take home. The staff was great in answering questions.

This place is a bit of a hole in the wall but the beef broth is to die for, as is the Vietnamese iced coffee. Service is attentive.

Old place, but Good food, good ambient. Family restaurant. I had to park on street parking on Sunday lunch because the place was packed.

The place was full of people when we walked in. My husband and I are pho fanatics. Wanted to try some in China town on vacation. To much surprise not the greatest. The wait staff spoke little English so it was really hard to ask questions. Manager was rude when we wanted to send the summer rolls back. They lacked tasted. However pho broth was horrid and left a bad after taste. Spring rolls were not the greatest.

The food is the same Vietnamese you will find in most Pho restaurants, portions are huge if you order the large size. The seafood noodle soup was mostly imitation seafood meat. The best thing is that it has free parking in the middle of Chinatown.

try pho nr 20. it’s so good. this place looks like a hole in a wall but it’s always packed and serves the best pho and fresh spring rolls.

I have enjoyed Vietnamese noodles, or Pho, for more than 20 years. I have never found a better place than Pho '87. The broth is perfect. Never greasy, and tasty as hell! You get served nice hot soup right away. The service is friendly and, once you become a regular, you don't even look at the menu. Right now, they have an amazing special, oxtail! Eggrolls are also good. We love Tim! Best hostess😍

If you're looking at ambience and all that jazz then skip this. But if you are looking for a good bowl of noodle soup then give this a chance. It does look a lil dodgy on the outside but once inside its almost always full. Unpretentious, just all abt the food and quick service. I love pho but not many choices for me as I don't take beef. So this is abt the only few in LA that serves chicken pho in chicken broth (or pork broth if u choose the pork version). Most places only Hv the beef broth as base for all their pho whether chicken, pork, with exception for vegetarian. Great pick me up on a cold day. Free parking right behind the restaurant. And another highlight of this place is they serve the most awesome garlic and chili oil paste!

Not far away from Dodger Stadium we drove to Pho 87 for dinner. We all had Pho in its various form and it did not disappoint. The clincher was the Thai Iced Tea - the best I had tasted thus far.

i consider myself a pho snob. i do have high standards for pho. while the broth here was tasty, i've had better. nyc has set the bar high for vietnamese cuisine since there are so many around. pho 87 seemed the best and most "authentic" in LA so i decided to give it a try after an attempt at pho cafe, we realized it was a bunch of hippies there so we bailed before stepping foot in the restaurant. at pho 87, i shouldnt have gotten the L but this always happens. i get greedy and i was probably starving when i ordered. i got tricked! the only complaint i have is the noodles were a bit on the mushy/sticky, almost soggy side. i dont know if that is an LA thing for pho but form my experience, that happens to the consistency of the noodles if they aren't as fresh as they should be or if they have been boiled for too long. the beef was good but for a size L wasn't as plentiful as i'd imagined. we also tried their boba tea which was good and fulfilling. i came here on a weekday during lunch and it was packed. comfortably packed though, and a nice flow. there wasnt a wait at all, and be sure it is CASH ONLY! we ended up parking across the street $2 per hour at the meters.. but on their menu it says free parking... not sure where though????

Don’t seek for a excitement. This is the right address for eating/trying the Pho. 100% Vietnamese place in LA.

Once you order, your Pho will be out within 5 minutes. It will be hot and delicious. The aroma of the soup is amazing. The beef is tender and the portion is great. You can choose small, medium, or large. Definitely go there if you work in or near Downtown LA.

Services are very good and friendly. Foods are very authentic Vitenememses Pho. Love the soup and beef.

My server was very informative on how they prepared the Pho. Just the description alone assured me I was at the right place and I sure was. The Pho was exquisite! bursting with flavor, very reasonable considering the time it takes to make a batch. Overall the food is great and priced just right. It's frequented by cops which in my opinion know a thing or two about good food, (since it's free for them sometimes) so if I see lot's of cops, I'm trying it too

I been wanting to try pho for a while, my co-worker is a regular here and she took a group of 4 of us. We got there around 11:35 a.m. on a Wednesday and the place was already busy but luckily we didn't have to wait. When noon rolled around, there was a bit of a line. This was my first time trying pho and it was really, really good. I added the garlic chili in a jar on the table and that made all the difference. We also had some egg rolls (they were okay) and tofu spring rolls (those were the best with the peanut sauce) Really delicious, I was NOT disappointed. Service was good too, the guy who took our order was funny and attentive. Will definitely be back for some more yummy pho! :)

great fresh food and good value for money. Looks like nothing from the outside but inside was busy and with premiership football on TV, Really enjoyed it.

I had their crispy noodle dish with shrimp, chicken and beef. It was excellent! the serving was huge and i had to take home half of it! the noodles were very crispy and the shrimp, and chicken and beef was great. a very good deal! we found parking on the street. There is free parking behind the restaurant but because it is shared with other businesses, it was full when we got there.

The food is delicious and the stuff are friendly! Make me feel homesick after months of staying in states. Thanks TripAdvisor lead us to here!:)

The place has no decor to speak of. Sort of 'Hole in the Wall'. Don't expect any warm greeting from the servers either, you are lucky if they even utter a smile. The quality of food is average and ingredients are also just industry standard, nothing outstanding. Taste can best be described as 'You'll forget it by tomorrow'. So if you are looking for a quick bite in a hurry, this is your place.

While waiting during a train layover I went wandering the Chinatown area searching for a nice restaurant. What I found was a lot of small shops and street side vendors. Finally, I stumbled upon PHO 87. From the outside it does not look like much. I approached the door somewhat hesitantly. What encouraged me to go in and eat were many customers inside seeming to enjoy their food. So, I gave it a try. I ordered the vegetarian noodle soup and it was warm and filling. For the very low prices you receive a lot of food. The service was quick and friendly. Not much in the way of ambiance or décor, but, for a hot bowl of soup it was good.

This is the place you have to go if you love Pho! Very tasty, big and and.. just try it

Don't come here for fancy interior and heart-filled welcome, come here if you really like Vietnamese food! Good spring roll Great prok chop rice Fabulous Pho and their soup Enough reasons for me to go back regularly for some authentic Vietnamese food

Normally, I'd give this place 3 stars as I thought the broth for the beef pho was very mediocre. What I didn't expect was the roasted garlic & chili sauce they had on the tables. That stuff was awesome when added to my pho. It also made for a great dipping sauce (mixed with hoisin) for the meat.

Great service, excellent food on unexpected calm environment, over classic music. Would recommend if you want a quick but excellent meal at a affordable price in the heart of Chinatown Los Angeles.

The indoor coy pool was a bit strange, but was an interesting touch in the no frills space, which looked a bit tired. The food was good, the service was very fast and the menu is extensive. This is a good lunch spot - about $10 per person for lunch.
Pho K
Upon approaching this restaurant I was a bit nervous. There is no curbside appeal whatsoever. When we stepped into the restaurant you are hit with this overwhelming smell that I couldn't seem to shake off. I've eaten Pho before and it didn't smell the way this place smelt. It seemed a bit dirty to me and the decor was having an identity crisis to say the least. However, I was there for the food. The one thing that was actually good was the egg rolls we ordered. Those were delicious and when wrapped in lettuce (didn't know you were supposed to do this until I saw someone doing it) were even more tasty. I ordered the rare and well done brisket version of their Pho. The broth was rather flavorless, the meat fatty and unenjoyable. Overall I didn't really care for my meal and struggled through it.
