Good spot while staying near airport

By Jill T |

We didn't want to try to park downtown so decided to have lunch near our hotel. Good food and good value. Not fancy but very authentic. Much easier than hunting for parking downtown!

Between poor and average

By Sam C |

Poor for the vibe - doesn't seem like it's in a good area, parking lot is very bumpy and place looks super old and rundown. Customers inside don't look like they'd know good pho from bad, clearly come to sit awhile and service is slow. Pho was average, not terrible but definitely average.

Must try

By Varina Karen C |

Staff was friendly. We were greeted at the door.. A quaint place. Above average portion sizes and all made to order..

Yum!

By Diane C |

Pho Dalat is great! I had pork ribs, shrimp & omelet on rice. Delicious, rice was perfect, all meat well seasoned & flavorful. Small fresh salad. I also had egg rolls, rich & fried perfectly. Good value. I’ll be back.😎

Great Pho!

By ConcreteEric |

A recent trip to Portland and the desire for a nice hot and flavorful bowl of Pho meet with a wonderful dinner. The service was fast and friendly, parking and access in and out was easy and the price was nice.

Good Chicken Pho

By jo w |

A little dive/hole in the wall not too far from the airport. We had their chicken pho and it was good and tasty. We also tried their fresh shrimp and pork rolls, it was good but not over the top. The place was nothing fancy, but the soup was flavorful and tad bit on the oily side.

Great Pho and Salad rolls

By Otazman-Ron |

This is my go to place if I want good Pho and I am near downtown PDX. Never tried anything else on the menu but the Pho Special and salad rolls are excellent.

Excellent On A Cold Day, And A Great Value!

By challenger27J |

Pho Dalat is almost a mandatory stop when I'm in the area especially on a cold rainy day. I have no clue how authentic their offerings are since Pho is the only Vietnamese dish I ever have had anywhere anytime. But I do know its good and I like it. A large bowl will set you back $7.50 and you get a big bowl of very tasty broth full of noodles, meat, veggies and comes with a side plate of chilies, sprouts and basil. When all mixed together it becomes quite a meal. The service has always been quick and courteous with lots of smiles and the facilities have always been neat and clean. Definitely will continue going back. 27J

Dank lil Pho spot

By Louie W |

MMMMMMMM, noodles were so good. So fairly priced too! Giant bowl, good service. What more do you want? :)

FANTASTIC Asian food!

By Adam K |

I was iin Portland for work and wanted a place to go eat after work and I love Asian food. I found this place and it had good reviews, so I checked it out. I was very happy with all of the food that I ate there. The Pho was so good that I ventured off and tried different dishes that they served. All were fresh and very good! If I lived in the Portland area, I would visit this place as much as I can. The food was spectacular and the staff was awesome. Give it a shot if you like Asian food! It's fresh and cheap!

Love the Banh Mi

By EnvelopeDude |

If you're looking for a terrific Banh Mi sandwich in Portland this is worth the trip. A bit out of the way unless you're near the airport but you won't regret it. Friendly staff, fast service and well prepared food.

Good pho and stir fry dishes

By LilyCatsMom |

Have been to many Vietnamese restaurants in the SF Bay Area and was happy to find that the food quality here is comparably good. Hubby enjoyed the pho and the kids and I enjoyed the salad rolls and a couple of tasty stir fry dishes (one was sauteed egg noodles with vegetables and the other was broccoli and shrimp stir fry - one of my kids is pescetarian and was happy to see a lot of seafood and tofu options)

vietnamese food near pdx

By worldlyfoodie |

in a neighborhood near pdx sits this tiny neon signed restaurant. the bright orange plastic booths with their paper napkin wrapped grasshopper green chinese chopsticks and soft vietnamese musaak kind of throws you off balance until you receive the good food they serve. the service is pleasant, food quick to be delivered. we ordered 2 small house special pho and a squid dish with rice. they were really good and we were stuffed. bill was $23.00. so nice not to have to eat hotel food and not drive far to get a good bite to eat. it's on 102nd and sandy blvd.

Loved the Beef Noodle soup

By marygdds1 |

Delicious beef noodle soup, was given the traditional platter of bean sprouts and basil to go along with it! Huge portion! We could walk here ( in the daytime) from our hotel. Many Vietnamese people eating here. Floors could use a good scrub and the front landscape needs attention.

Lunch

By Abe S |

Friendly staff. Egg noodles with seafood was disappointing. Some seafood was cold. Noises were tasty but some on edge were clumped and cold.

Excellent dinner!

By MomfromAZ |

We went tonight and absolutely loved it! We had beef noodle soup (the large one was plenty for an adult!) and fried rice. We couldn't finish it all, we were so full and satisfied! Everything was delicious! The staff is wonderful and prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is very clean. Definitely 5 stars!

#8 Pho in the city? Get real, folks. Very run of the mill.

By tdubya_12 |

Average at best, Want good Viet Noodle soup in the city? Ha and VL, Rose VL, Pho Oregon, Mehka, PHo An Sandy and Jade Teahouse. Most of the upper rated listings for Pho on TripAdvisor are complete uninformed rubbish.

Authentic Vietnamese Deliciousness

By DebbieonDawson |

We have passed this place but never stopped. So glad we finally did! We knew we were in for a treat when a diner at the next table asked if it was our first visit. He assured us we wouldn't be disappointed and spent the next ten minutes raving about the food. He had been eating there frequently for several years and worked his way systematically through the menu until he had tried everything. It sounds like you can't go wrong no matter what you order. Certainly our bun bowl (rice noodles with warm meat and cold vegetables drenched in a salty sweet and vinegar sauce and small spring rolls. ) The generous rolls were the most flavorful we have had and their crust light and flaky without being oily. The grilled shrimp on a skewer was very good but not marinated, which I prefer. But the best flavor was the marinated pork slices. It was absolutely perfect. I am already planning a return because I know this craving is not going to disappear and I know other bun and pho enthusiasts who haven't been here I will need to invite. Our new acquaintance said the pork ribs, the chicken pho and the beef pho were his favorites but will I be able to swerve from bun noodle perfection to order something different? We'll see. Most dishes were $7-9. The decor was utilitarian and the temperature inside the cafe on a cold evening was chilly but that did not cool our enthusiasm for this yummy place. If you need a more attractive setting, we hear they prepare an excellent take-out as well.

Bad meat

By _tomnguyen001 |

I ordered the XL bow of pho. The first taste of the broth was off... Kind of old. Then I tasted the meat balls... they were COLD! The meat also tasted old - like it was in the fridge too long. Not sure that they kept the meat too long due to the recent snow and storm. No excuse, though to feed paying customer bad products like this.... I am awaiting to see if I will get sick this afternoon :( Won't come back

Simple and fast

By Tiffany T |

I have eaten here twice. Restaurant is in what seems to be a converted fast food place. Not updated in any way, but perfectly functional. Food they serve is good. It is cheap. There are no frills. If you want flag standard Pho you can hit the spot. I personally like things like tendon and crispy pork and enjoy more fixings on the table like fried garlic and garlic chili paste.... but sometimes simple and sweet is the way to go. Table service was quick and efficient. Pay at the counter when you are done.

Convenient place for Vietnamese food

By terry k |

In close proximity to a variety of hotels and inns sits Pho Dalat. They are best for their pho and spring rolls. It appears to be family run with brother and sister up front. They are very friendly and accommodate take out orders as well

Little Jewel off the beaten track

By cawiz88 |

Discovered this place by accident, and only because I was staying at the Comfort Inn across the street. The decor is dated, and appearances can be a bit deceiving at first. However the staff were friendly, and the food my family had was very tasty and reminded us what we could get in Vancouver at better Pho restaurants. The spicy Pho noodle bowl i had definitely had some "kick" to it, and had me perspiring a bit. The other noodle bowls the rest of the family had were tasty as well. 2 dishes of bean sprouts came with our meal which was nice. At home, we would typically only get one. Beef was tender and not chewy. Soup bases were tasty and tough to avoid drinking all of it. Ordered a couple of shrimp salad rolls as appetizer. Again, these were good as well, and tasted "fresh". If you're in the area around lunch or dinner time, definitely worth stopping in for a meal. You won't be disappointed.

Great Pho and salad rolls

By shewholovestoeat |

I always get the same thing here. Their Pho is outstanding, as are the salad rolls. Love the peanut sauce. They make a good Vietnamese iced coffee too. Broth is good, lots of meat and noodles in the soup. Really good Pho. Good prices too. A HUGE bowl of Pho is $10.95. Wow

Really Good Pho on a Chilly Day... or Any Day...

By Mike L |

Had lunch hear with the wife. We both got the Pho #9 (I think it was #9) but it was the flank steak and beef round, small. It was $7.50 and came with a HUGE amount of bean sprouts, basil, jalapenos and lemons. The broth was quite nice and tasty. Compares with our favorite we use to get in the Bay Area

Very tasty, filling meal

By Tnjersey |

Before heading up to Seattle, we left our hotel across the street and found this little family owned gem. Being on the rode and eating nothing but fast food, it was a relief to find some great homemade food. The portion sizes were huge and fairly inexpensive. I got the house made noodles in a broth with shrimp, squid and crab and it was excellent. This is at the top of the my list of eats for the next trip to Portland.

Good, well-priced food

By LoveToTravelBoston |

Walked over from our airport hotel and had a surprisingly good meal: - rice noodles with chicken & veggies for my wife: savory thin noodles, plenty of chicken, some good veggies and she was very happy - seafood pho for me: I got the extra large & it was huge and very tasty A good option on Sandy Blvd

Healthy, filling, tasty meal; pleasant atmosphere and service

By Charles B |

Great choice if you find yourself around PDX airport at dinner time and don't want to fight rush hour traffic. We'd go back !

Good Pho and reasonable price.

By travelbuddyfun |

The server was very friendly and polite. We ordered 2 bowl of Vietnamese pho and they are delicious. The portion is good, too for the price they charged.

Great Food

By PAHWestfield |

Very good food. Place is not fancy, but the service was just fine and the food was very very good. If I lived in the area, I would frequent this place. They seemed to be doing a robust take out business too.

Great Pho and friendly service

By Jeff H |

The soup was a great value and very tasty. Not unlike most noodle houses, the broth was good and everything else was fresh and tasty. It was convenient to the hotel. I would visit again if in the area.

Good price, good food

By Alan D |

We went to the restaurant after reading good reviews here in trip advisor. All the good points were true. We had the Pho and the salad rolls. It was the first time my kids had vietnamese food. In 7 days we returned twice. The Large portion was enough for the three of us and great value. Go there!

It was ok....just ok

By UncleRMC |

Staying at a motel about a mile away. Looking for someplace for dinner and pho sounded good. They sat me quickly and hot tea followed shortly after ordering. Then the wait started. After 15-20 minutes they could sense my impatience. I really don't know how long it took but I guess about 30 minutes. If I'd been in a hurry this could have been a big problem. I wasn't so I dealt with it. I ordered the extra large since it wasn't much more than the large. Basically you'll get more noodles and broth but I didn't feel I got more chicken. I could be wrong. I've had better pho, but what I had was good and satisfied my pho craving. And I would return to have pho again if it were convenient. I would not go out of my way.

Great food

By TravelingAldy |

We enjoyed the food and fast service. We did take out and it was great. Good menu. And all the dishes we had were good.

Helpful and friendly

By johnmilsom |

Our first venture into Vietnamese cuisine . Restaurants were thin on the ground so gave this a try. A helpful lady suggested dishes we may like and we did. Portions were big and the bill was very small. Great experience for us.

Yum

By Frankn0405 |

Great little pho place. Food was great and the price was even better. They also offer 3 different sizes for the pho and have at least 8 different choices.

Tried something else this time

By challenger27J |

Have eaten here many times and only have had the Pho. This time I tried the salt and pepper squid. This is a dish I have eaten at many other places and know what I like, and this was good. Not the best, but good for the price and as a quick lunch. The squid was tender and spicy. The breading was thin and for the most part adhered to the squid. The sliced onions and jalapeño peppers were cooked but still had a snap. The accompanying broth was flavorful too. Oh, and there was a serving of steamed rice too. If you are looking for "trophy squid" there are better places in Portland, want a quick squid lunch, this place can do it. Will order again. 27J

What the Pho!

By dan4235 |

Just moved to the Portland area, and have never had pho before... Boy, have I been mising out! Happy I came across this restaurant. I walked in, and was seated promptly with a menu to browse. The server then brought me some hot green tea to sip on. I ended up going with the combination beef pho (tendons, tripe, and all!). I didn't have to wait too long for my order to be made, and when she brought it out, you could just smell the goodness! The broth was absolutely amazing, and had a good amount of all the beef ingredients, as well. An absolute steal for $8.50!....I will ABSOLUTELY be back!

Foods better at the airport!

By George |

Stopped by for a quick bite to eat before dropping off my rental car at the airport. After a week of excellent Vietnamese and asian food in the Portland area, this was quite disappointing. Place wasn't clean and the food quite sub par. I guess I should have realized this I advance, as the place looks run down from the outside and is in a seedy part of town. Moral of the story, "if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, its a duck!"

Good Pho

By ArizonaReadytogo |

We came from a nearby hotel. Pretty typical Vietnamese restaurant. The other patrons seem to be locals. Nothing fancy but not a dump. Wife had a seafood Pho she was happy with. Reasonable prices. Good service. What we expected. I rate it "average" because it is average Vietnamese. I have not found much variation in Vietnamese restaurants. If it were a bit fancier it would be a very good.

Don’t let the looks fool you

By OregonBliss |

It looks pretty rough but the food is really good and the staff quite pleasant and helpful. Really good Pho. Huge portions so my friend and I shared easily. Around $10.00 an item so economical too.

Authentic Vietnamese noodles and soups

By David K |

We ate lunch here during a visit to Portland. The service was good and the food was terrific. While the decor is plain, we went there to eat because we were hungry and were very satisfied with the experience. The menus are easy to read and every item has a letter/number designation to assist in overcoming a language barrier. I would definitely visit again.

Tasty, inexpensive Pho

By Maimeo |

We stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites near the Portland Airport. Pho Dalat is a short walk away from the hotel. Service is quick, there is ample seating, and the Pho was satisfying.

Good Enough

By diyosa3 |

Was in Portland on 2/23/14, got a craving for Vietnamese food...pho specifically. Searched in the GPS for nearby places--1st stop took us to one on Hawthorne that had shut down (already a bad sign). Decided to park the car as we saw another place that was open, looked at the menu posted outside & upon seeing the $15 average-price-per-plate price tag, made a quick U-turn back to the car (I'm always on a budget, I don't need to be spending that much for a bowl of pho). It was 6pm & I was getting hungrier. We drove around some more & found the neon sign of "Pho Da Lat: House of Beef Noodles" beckoning us. Altho I chose a different place on the GPS, my hunger pangs needed to be satisfied quickly. We made a quick turn onto the parking lot of Pho Da Lat. Lots of cars in the parking lot. Saw thru the window--mostly college-type patrons (a good sign for inexpensive restaurant finds). Restaurant was 3/4 full of customers and we got seated immediately. Ordered B1 combo plate and the C1 large deluxe pho. The soup came with a full plate stacked high with pho accoutrements (bean sprouts, lime slice, basil, cilantro, jalapeno)--it was satisfying...not the best pho I've had, but great value for $8.50. The B1 combo plate was an interesting combination of old meat, unrecognizable and inedible "omelette" and the shredded pork horror with a huge mound of rice underneath. I will never order this nightmare again. For $9.95, it's a lesson learned. I will come back for the pho though.

Delicious!

We went there @ 0930 pm and still we got very tasty soup noodle to feed ourselves. Also very good fried rice noodle available. Waitor is nice and we really enjoyed our late dinner.

Inexpensive, good food and nice staff

By pating |

I have been going to Pho Dalat for many years and I have seen the ownership change at least twice. They have good pho and other Vietnamese dishes. On my latest visit a week ago, the service was fast and the young lady who served us was courteous with lots of smiles. This place is not fancy at all but I always go back because the food is good but inexpensive and the staff are friendly.

Indifferent Service, So-so Food

By bb_organic |

I got there after 8:30 and after waiting a few minutes I was told that they had only to-go. I ordered rice noodles with tofu and veggies. It was the end of the day and the noodles were overcooked and gummy. The tofu and veggies were OK, but not anything special. Price was reasonable, but I was rushed out the door.

Good soup, service

By Edward S |

The food and service are good. The soups are very good. The atmosphere is plain and sometimes tables and batroom are untidy.

Flavorful vietnamese food

By Felicia W |

We had a large soup, shrimp roll and a main dish and 4 of us eat everything we ordered. Portion were large and pricewise it was very affordable. Food was delicous!

good but not great

By Foodies2010 |

A good place to pick up a fast meal. Very friendly nice place; very good happy hour prices on food and drinks. Not up to the standard of my favorite area Vietnamese restaurant (Tan Tan Cafe on Mill Plain in Vancouver} but good food at a good price.

Nice Vietnamese food

By Yongki |

Small Vietnamese restaurants, with relax environment. Good food with right price.
