Outstanding Pho

By pcintx_8 |

Business trip for three weeks, Pho Dan was near where we were working, which was about 6 miles from downtown.. I can't count how many times we went to lunch there. Pho is outstanding, love #3 which is beef brisket. Not many veggies on menu, but #45a, which is shrimp, vermicelli noodles, broccoli and carrots was also excellent. But you can't beat the pho. Best restaurant experience I had while in Austin. And there are many vietnamese restaurants in the area.

Dan good Pho

By John B |

While visiting Austin need to get our Vietnamese food fix. Since were are a Vietnamese/American family we tend to be a bit picky about our Vietnamese food. We found Dan Pho to be excellent and will be sure to stop there again when in Austin. The pho was great as were the spring rolls The rest of the party had other offerings but everyone was very satisfied with the food and service.

Not impressed

By sicboy |

Had high hopes based on reviews. Ordered chicken and egg rolls on vermicelli and the chicken was OK, but the egg roll was super dry. Overall was a decent lunch for the price (around $10) but will probably not return.

Honestly!

We went to Pho Danh in Round Rock, in La Frontera. We ordered an extra large, a small pho and an order of spring rolls with shrimp only. Dinner was good as usual. I went to pay for our meal and walked up to the register. The gal at the register asked me what we ordered as so I told her. She said it showed 2 extra large pho so I told her we didn't and repeated the order. I told her where we sat and she still wouldn't believe me so I told her to go to our table and look at the size of the bowls. She went to our table and then came back as if she still didn't believe me, but just charged us for what I told her our order was. Honestly, I've never felt as I did when we left. The gall!!! I left no tip and walked out.

Craving for excellent pho and we got it here

By Michelle L |

We were suddenly craving for pho after a lot of burgers, pizzas etc over the last few days and after googling a bit, came to know of this place. drove out for a bit from the Omni Austin hotel and had lunch here. very authentic pho - very flavorful, clean and great service. We ordered the beef pho and chicken pho and spring rolls. all were delicious and portions were big. if not for the long drive away from downtown, we would return. great pho here.

Always good but many times crowded on colder days

By Michael R |

Good selection, clean, predictable with fair portions. A second location has opened in Round Rock. The parking lot can be difficult.

Awesome!

Best Vietnamese food in Austin! I absolutely love their food - it's fresh, well prepared and delicious! We will be back.

Love the bbq rib with rice

By cici |

My favorite one is rib with rice and fish sauce. Clean restaurant. Just happened the restaurant is located in the off side of the street, not on the side of My Thanh. That's why not much customers. Asain we like convinent places. We like restaurant next to market. But I'll stop by one in a while for my rib.

Still good, fast service, constantly changing staff

Good selection, clean, predictable with fair portions. A second location has opened in Round Rock. The parking lot can be difficult. Staff changes often.

Wide selection great food

By Michael R |

A wide selection of great food served quickly. Lots of space for groups or individuals, parking can be an issue, so go a bit early or later at lunch.

Predictably good

By Michael R |

Wide menu, quick service, but sometimes difficult parking. Staff seems to turn over very quickly, especially recently, but the back of the house is still putting out fast and good food.

Yummy Bun Thit Nuong

By KaiserKrieg |

The vermicelli bowl with grilled pork (bun thit nuong) was delicious as well as the pork/shrimp rolls. Almost slipped into a food coma afterwards....4 star rating because the service is good but needs improvement.

Pho Dan = Pho Good!

By medbl |

I love Vietnamese food! I have tried lots of Pho places and this one is really good. Servers are quick, food is hot, your tea or water glass never gets empty. Their spring rolls are excellent, very full and the peanut sauce is flavorful and thick. Prices are very competitive. I'm hungry thinking about it!

good vietnamese cuisine

By zzchipster |

just stopped in for a quick afternoon lunch. we basically had the same. bbq pork in a vermicelli bowl and the bbq pork over rice and fresh salad. everything was very fresh and very good. neat establishment. good design and new. very clean and fresh. will go back.

Delicious

By TexasSAgirl |

I read their review online in the Austin Chronicle and drive out to Pho Dan. It was the trip! Very authentic, flavorful, clean and friendly. I definitely will go back. Order #27, Vietnamese eggrolls and any of the spring rolls were excellent! Careful with that hot chili paste; it isn't joking.

Darn good Pho

By Jeffrey B |

The Pho do bien (fish balls, shrimp, squid, fake crab) is very good. They give you a Basil bush, bean sprout, jalapeno slices and lime with lots of noodles. I also had the shrimp and pork soft spring rolls which were some of the best I have had anywhere. The peanut dipping sauce was better than most places I have eaten at and I have eaten them from Vietnam to Hooterville USA. The menu is limited to Soups, rice and vermicelli main dishes. They have Vietnamese egg rolls and about eight types of soft spring rolls. Would I drive 5 miles to eat here? Yes. Would I drive 20 miles to eat here? No. There are too many other just as good Vietnamese restaurants in Austin.

Very lousy

By S M |

The restaurant has been exceptional in the past but my last 2 visits have been disappointing. With the service in particular. Today the pho ingredients were cold and our waiter was just occupied with his phone. There were 3-4 guys "working" the floor and since there were only 3 tables occupied, they sat around playing on there phones. Our waiter was the worst. He never came back to check on our drinks and he was eating behind the counter and had crumbs on the side of his face and was still chewing when he approached our table as I called him over for the check. Mgmt needs to clean house of this worthless crew .

Good taste, cool price

By JasonLLL |

This is the best pho restaurant among all that I've ever been to in Austin area. Just go for the pho, and some appetizers are good too.

Best Pho in Austin!

By Carmen G |

My family love this restaurant. We drive more than 15 miles to go this restaurant. It has the best Pho of the city. The restaurant is very clean. The food always taste the same. I get the Vermicelli, my spouse get the pho and my kids get the rice with pork. We always get two side of fried rolls.

Always consistent good food served quickly

By Michael R |

Always good with a wide selection. The best Pho in Austin that I have had. Accommodates individuals through groups but Call ahead for more than 8. Parking can be an issue though, go a little earlier or later for lunch.

Reliably good pho & vermicelli

By jy8s |

I've eaten lunch here more times that I can remember and the quality of the food has remained consistently good. I usually go with an XL bowl of Pho with the steak on the side or the chicken vermicelli bowl. Pho Dan is my go-to Vietnamese restaurant in North Austin whenever I'm in town.

Work Lunch

By Kyllito |

Pho Dan was great on this cool day. They have a huge menu, but I always enjoy the Pho with chicken breast. They have two unique ingredients that I haven't seen at other places that serve Pho. One is red cabbage which makes for a colorful soup. Portions are really big so a small serving was adequate for me. I'll definitely go back here again.

Very blah

By dieswaytoofast |

The good - friendly staff, big clean and efficient environs, and easy parking The bad - the food is very blah. It isn’t bad mind you, just no there there, kothing that makes you want to go back Which is sad, cos this used to be some of the best pho in town…

Very ordinary pho, terrible delivery service ...

By CharlieinTexas |

Ordered take out and delivery through Yelp, with delivery by Grubhub. Bad idea! Took 1 1/4 hours to get the food and when I called to check on my order, the fellow on the phone at the restaurant was clueless in regard to what I was asking. Excellent (cold) chicken rice egg roll. Excellent side of steak/beef. Otherwise, very ordinary pho. Nothing special about the broth or add ins. Disappointing take out/delivery experience.

Lots of changes

By Michael R |

New more limited menu and limited staff. The shine seems to have diminished on the place on the past 6 months.

Great bowl of Pho!

By Rocky E |

If I am feeling Pho this is where I go. The flank steak is the best but they make a mean chicken Pho too. I am usually satisfied with a medium but since being pregnant I go for the large. What more can I say its simple, no frills, fresh Pho!

You might be not broken but your rice will be

By Khai L |

I go to different Vietnamese restaurants for their particular dish that I like; and this one I think has the best grilled pork chop rice plate. What sets this restaurant apart is that they use broken rice ( as the name indicates, the grain is broken before cooking so it gives off a different texture in your mouth) just how I would have it in Vietnam. The pork chop is marinated with just right amount of lemongrass and other ingredients I do not know and don't want to know . Their fish sauce is not too salty, enough to pour over rice generously to make it tasty. Now if only their hostess as well as their servers carried a smile, It would put some sweetness to my meal.

Great vietnamese food. My favorite in Austin!

By betty b |

I have been to Pho Dan in Round Rock many times but went to the Austin location recently. It might be even better! Definitely the best Vietnamese food in Austin. My favorite is the number 40 (seared beef) with rice. Ample portion of beef and it was cooked perfectly. I also ordered spring rolls with shrimp to go. I was very impressed at how they were packaged go go. It even included fresh sauces in small to go packages vs packages of pre made sauces. Then all items were set on a Styrofoam tray and cling wrapped to all but guarantee no leaking in the car and freshness.

Good Pho and extended menu

By Michael R |

Consistent, good and fresh at a reasonable price. The best in austin that I have tried. Parking can be difficult, on colder days and lunch time.

Good Pho and Spring Rolls

By Michael R |

Good varied selection of Pho and other dishes. Normally crowded even after lunch and dinner hours. Clean and simple floor plan with a TV if dining alone.

Best I have found in Austin

By Michael R |

Best pho I have found in Austin, large menu, consistent meals. Every changing servers is a bit odd, but may be wiring multiple sites.

Good Bowl of Pho

By docwhiteaustin |

Very good beef pho (had mine w/eye round and brisket). Ordered the large bowl - lots of tasty broth, rice noodles, generous amounts of meats, sprouts, jalapeños, Thai basil and lime. Am not a big fan of onion and cilantro, so appreciated that they ask whether you want it or not. Spring Rolls with pork and shrimp were some of the best we have had in a while and the peanut sauce was thick and tasty as well. Good service was a big plus. Reasonably priced and generous portions. Seafood soup was also good, but the pho is the bomb!

Yummy!

By Katie J |

Had the Pho with brisket and the spring rolls with shrimp and pork. Super yummy! Fun atmosphere complete with chopsticks. 😊

Think Saigon when you eat at Pho Dan

By OberstA |

Here is the best Pho in town, whether with chicken or beef (the traditional). Excellent spring rolls too and the outstanding Vietnamese coffee. The cost is low, the service competent and fast, the cost low. A good indicator of an Asian restaurant is how many Asians attend. Here it's always at least 50% This is a solid bet.

They have maintained their quality and cleanliness

By Michael R |

Always good food and clean restaurant. Staff constantly changes, but training must be excellent. Extensive menu, quick service, only drawback is the parking lot.

Very disappointed and sad that a favorite restaurant' s service has gone down hill

By mnhwang |

This is a favorite restaurant with great food and service. We went in there today and my kids were very hungry. One of the best things about Vietnamese noodles is that is quick and good. We ordered and waited to be served with our food when we (and my kids) noticed that everyone around us was eating their food...even the people who came in and ordered after we did....so I walked up to the counter to let them and know...shortly afterwards our food came. Since we ordered a large bowl for my kids to share, I asked them for a bowl as they brought our food and it took another 10 minutes so I walked up to the front counter and she gave it to me on a few seconds. Next I saw that I needed a fork for my 7 year old and this time I just went to the front counter to save time. The gal at the counter asked me to sit down as she would bring it to me so I said if they could hurry because every time I asked for something, we had to wait a long time. All in all, the food was great as always but the service was very disappointing which makes me sad as Pho Dahn is my favorite pho restaurant.

tasty tofu spring rolls

By saigon75 |

i went here with 2 girlfriends who had pho. they said this is the best place in town for it. it was crowded. the young waitress was very nice but there was a mistake with our order and she seemed mildly miffed and befuddled. but it was straightened out and we enjoyed our lunch and we tipped her extra for the confusion.

Authentic Vietnamese Food

By DallasBigD |

Restaurant has a good selection of Vietnamese soup, rice and vermicelli dishes. The shrimp spring roll that I had as an appetizer was fresh tasting and flavorful. The vermicelli with sliced chicken that I had as an entree was nicely prepared and a generous portion. Will visit this restaurant again on a future trip to the north Austin area.

Great pho place

By YLangenbach |

The pho is tasty, service is great. We usually get unfriendly service staff in other Vietnamese restaurants, this is different. The place is clean, which is a pleasant surprise.
