Worth the trip!

By mindy g |

We love eating here, we've tried about 10 items with many more to go. Always good, fresh & fast. A super value and really kind staff to answer all your questions.

Fresh delicious food

By Barbara N |

My husband and I stopped by for lunch and were very pleased. The service was good and the facilities were clean and attractively decorated. The food was delicious nicely presented. We shared the salad roll appetizer which was very fresh. He had a generous bowl of pho and I had the marinated grilled pork with rice noodles and salad, which was very tasty. I look forward to going back again.

Refreshing!

The food was amazing. We shared steamed pot stickers. I enjoyed the Yaki Soba with tofu (veggies cooked but still crisp, noodles were divine) and green bubble tea with tapioca pearls. Hubby enjoyed his yellow curry chicken. Our leftovers became our dinners the next day. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and CLEAN! Very attentive wait staff. We will be back!

Seems to be losing sizzle

This Pho Gia was our go-to, close-to-home pho place, but there have been ongoing changes in their menu (not a problem) and how they make their food. Went back last night after a couple months and, again, ordered small pho #10 with flank, brisket, tripe, tendon but without meatballs. The spring rolls were fresh and good as always except the pork had a slightly stronger flavor than in the past, maybe old. The pho came quickly and hot, but, while the flavor of the meat was excellent, there was precious little of it. More noodles than we've ever seen here, and the broth was okay -- not particularly piquant. Are they losing their mojo? Still, a more than decent pho choice on McLoughlin.

Eating for a decent and delicious price

This is one of my favorite restaurants in milwaukie. I love the food the service is great and it is clean. I recommend Pho Gia for Vietnamese Noodle Soup all the time. There is plenty of seating soup is steaming hot and always delicious.

Pho Gia is “Super”!

By BigBill65 |

If you know Pho like I do, you know the beef noodle soup at most pho restaurants is pretty good. Here at Pho Gia, it is VERY GOOD! A “Super” bowl of soup is only $11.95 (small is $7.95) and they pack it with plenty of noodles and beef. Not to mention bean sprouts, basil, jalapeño, lime and cilantro, they also offer several sauces including Sriracha and my favorite, Chili Oil! Very low key atmosphere, very clean and the staff is friendly and outgoing. Ask for Tony. Come check it out!

Great Pho!

By Elly D |

Pho Gia is my go-to restaurant for pho. I usually order the combination one, which is impeccably seasoned and generously portioned. I love the fact that so many fresh ingredients are incorporated into each dish! I also order the salad rolls with their savory peanut sauce, which are super refreshing. Their Thai ice tea is to die for! The atmosphere is very relaxing with lovely decor and soothing music. The staff is very nice but service can be so-so sometimes; the food makes up for it, though.

Starting to question Trip Advisor's reviews... Pho Gia is the weakest Pho in the city.

By tdubya_12 |

Don't get me wrong. Nice folks run the the place, but the pho broth is unlike anything ever tasted--and not in a good way. It doesn't even resemble traditional pho broth, which is a mystery, only surpassed by the mystery of so many good reviews from people who apparently wouldn't know good pho if it bit them on the behind. Sorry folks. If you want to sample the best of Portland's Viet noodle soups, start with Ha and VL and Rose Vl, which are inexplicably listed at #24 and #36, Seriously folks? National critics rave about both and if you go in, you will find many of Portland's best chefs having breakfast soup. But insist on the dumps, if you desire. Jade Teahouse (#3) is good, Pho Oregon #5, Pho Hung #13, Mekha #15 should also be at the top of your list. Pho Gia's Pho is next to inedible on every attempt. I have given up and it wouldn't hurt folks to do a little research on the actual great Pho places in Portland and give up on the utterly setting-the-low-bar reviews for Pho on TripAdvisor. What a mystery.

variety of SE Asian specialites

Many choices of Asian cusine; I choose Korean and loved it. Nice and spicy. Very good service. Great price for what you get. Liked the decor. Oh yes, we would go back!

Very Good Value, Thai and Vietnamese Offerings

By clpb |

My book club met here for lunch in May and I kept remembering how good the food was and what a good value that I took myself out to dinner in June. Wait staff is not over-communicative but efficient. Large portions of well seasoned food quickly served. Most patrons were taking home enough for a future meal!

Great food, neighborhood gem

Happened across this place off McLoughlin in Milwaukie. Being fans of Vietnamese food, and Pho places in Portland in general, we decided to give this place ago. First of all, this restaurant is exceptionally clean, quiet, and well spaced. The prices are also incredibly reasonable. Two people can enjoy full meals with appetizers for around $25. For example, we've been twice and have ordered Gyoza, Pad Thai, and two large bowls of Pho, which comes to about $20. The Pad Thai is quite good, and their Pho has many options, though they seem to focus primarily on beef. The staff are very friendly and unintrusive, and the quality and pride are very apparent. If you're heading through Milwaukie/ Oak Grove for any reason and need a warm bowl of Pho, please check this place out!

Best Pho off 99E

By Mraschio |

Fairly expansive menu with many choices. We've had Pho here several times and have yet to be disappointed. Spring rolls are always fresh and the sauce is a thick peanut sauce with peanut chunks for a nice change in texture. Service is always fast and friendly. The restaurant is clean and stylish. Much better on the inside than the outside. One of the better restaurants in the Jennings lodge area, check it out!

A regular stop for us

By Frank B |

Clean, friendly, convenient, and food that we have enjoyed each time. The Pho broth is excellent. Other dishes have been very good. Note, for us, the restaurant is in Milwaukie, not Portland, at the corner of McLoughlin and Boardman.

This restaurant never disappoints. Good food, quick service. Shrimp spring rolls are favorites. Soup comes with fresh veggies.

Tried out this restaurant today and the food was good but lacking in service. The waiter ignored us after bringing our food not bothering to refill our water or check how our food was.

Amazing

By Patty H |

Quality of the food was very high! We ordered salad rolls (peanut sauce had perfect texture), beef and chicken pho, bubble tea and Thai iced tea. All were excellent! I especially liked the courteous waiters and prompt service. I'll surely be back!

Unassuming exterior / Great food inside

By STEVEGD118595 |

This is our "goto" place on a night when we would like great food for very little money. I usually order #37, (a Pho meat mixture). My wife orders #12 or the teriyaki plate. Pho comes in 3 sizes= regular (very large), large and super. Every dish I have had there has been tasty and well composed. The spring rolls with peanut sauce are delicious. Don't ask for tea, however, as you will probably receive hot water and a LIPTON tea bag. Love the food, servers and prices.

Seems to have swung back to "really good"

By DeHypnotist |

Our previous visit was a major disappointment but this time we were pleased. The menu was once again rejiggered. Back to small pho options, slightly higher price for some salad rolls but, as always, their salad roll was excellent, the pho was good (although the broth could have had stronger sweet spice -- keeps changing from visit to visit), and the new young servers were great.

Worth the trip

By J C |

This place has fair portions and fair prices. My spicy vegetables and tofu was delicious and only $9! Next time I will add spring rolls and try the lemongrass tofu. The interior is very pleasant. Not much decor but the fixtures and lighting are fantastic. The service was nice and efficient, but--disclaimer--it wasn't all that busy when I came here on a Monday.

More than just Pho.

A nice restaurant with a menu that will satisfy a crowd. We have been there several times and recently have been ordering several appetizers for the group to share. The chicken wings are a must have!

Great food, nice people!

By STEVEGD118595 |

Had a small group of five of us there last night. Wait staff attentive and got our food "spot on", even without writing down our orders. Had #11, as did one of our guests, spicy chicken and noodle dish. My wife had teriyaki chicken, Ron had Pad Thai and Karen had Pho. The meal was served quickly and it was really good. I recently dined at a Vietnamese restaurant in Beaverton, and this is much better food, and better service. This is a family business and the owner/manager is a nice guy to talk with. They have such a varied menu I could eat here every day for a couple of months and not have the same thing. A lot of Vietnamese, a little Thai. a little Japanese and some Chinese thrown in for good measure. I have never regretted anything I have purchased here. A favorite go-to spot!

First time here as I am slowly trying every pho place near by! This was good and great portion sizes. Service could be better.

Stick with the Pho!

By Oceantoes |

Pho Gia is our go to for Pho and Vietnamese food. Comes with lots of Thai basil and of course other greens, bean sprouts, lime and jalapeno. I love the broth! They are more generous with the meat here than another local place and their prices beat them all out at $6.50. Pho is their specialty and although the salad rolls are delicious, avoid the Pad Thai. Seriously. Instead of that sweet/sour flavor you crave the noodles have been mixed with lots of peanut sauce, It was all one big sticky lump on the plate. :-( They replaced the sad dish and brought me out a big bowl of beef pho right away, no charge, happy again! :-) The atmosphere here is very nice with lots of tables, pretty chandeliers and a big bar. Service is really friendly.

I really appreciate and enjoy eating here.

The food here is good, the staff friendly and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant is nice and comfortable. I am thankful to have this restaurant pretty close to us.

Decent Pho

By BrioPA |

The noodles were tasty, the atmosphere and service a little sparse. It's a big space, and I was there after peak hours, so didn't benefit from the bustling warmth of a busy restaurant.

Thankful for this restaurant

We enjoy this restaurant. We like the food. The staff is friendly. A very nice atmosphere. And a very convienent location! A good value for the food.

Friendly staff

By Amy Y |

The quality of my second visit to Pho Gia exceeded the first, which was a couple of months back. The wait staff appeared more seasoned and attentive. The food has been consistent and what we expect from a Vietnamese restaurant. We appreciated the strong lighting (pretty stained glass) that allowed our aging eyes to see the menus. We'll return!

Not for me, broth is important

By Sharon D |

This Pho was meh. I can't understand the rave reviews. PROS fast service friendly clean plenty of basil, they don't skimp quality of meat was good CONS broth didn't taste like any broth I have had before and i have eaten at upwards of 60 different Pho places. Had a strange aftertaste. Noodles were tough and chewy. Not soft. I don't know if the broth was not hot enough to soften the noodles or if the noodles were not real pho noodles but it was off putting Quantity was OK - not as generous as places I usually go This location is less than 5 min from my house so I wanted to like it but the broth being non standard doesn't do it for me.
