I've been eating at Pho Hung for about 20 years, not just because I love the food, but also because I've gotten to know the people who work there and always get super service. My favorite dish is the #34, the pork & vermicelli bowl, but I've never had anything bad. I've spent time In Vietnam and find the food at Pho Hung to be quite authentic. Go there!

I visited a friend in Portland this is his perennial favorite and I can see why! Excellent Pho of all varieties from beginner to more seasoned palletes!

I eat in this restaurant whenever I am in the neighborhood. Both the beef and the chicken pho are delicious. If you order the chicken one ask for the one with the chip. It's not just sliced chicken wing it's a real whole chicken leg served on a separate dish.

Great Vietnamese food, lots of interesting dishes

excellent value. soup was delicious

The egg rolls were nothing to write home about. They tasted a little like they were fried in old oil. They have a pretty good selection of pho. We're in NW so the drive out here just isn't worth it.

This place has been here forever, gone here for years. I love it! They are always good, usually go for the pho and love the spring rolls, but have gotten their bowls before and a few other dishes and never been disappointed. They are a decent size place so good for groups too. Definitely try it!

Pho is a simple, utilitarian dish, cheap and appealing, served promptly and, despite the standard garnishes, really without any flair. This is why it's so perfect for a work lunch, for a cold day, or to kill some time over a meal that won't leave you bloated and siesta-prone. A pho eatery, like the food it serves, should be practical and with minimal fanfare. Pho Hung on Powell gives an excellent bowl of noodle soup. They do it quickly, after ushering you in quickly but politely. One never feels rushed, from entering to leaving, despite the efficiency with which the Pho Hung establishment greets, seats, serves, and bills. It's a work of technical exceptionalism, this place. One never feels crowded, despite the minimalist furniture and the large lunch crowds in the big dining room area. Don't be scared of the free standing tables in the big area. Look around at the varied crowd of hungry Portlanders. All this muted ambiance should not imply that the food itself is bland. In fact, based on the broth alone, Pho Hung is among the best. You may not realize it until you've eaten bad broth at a trendy restaurant that offers Pho for the wrong reasons. Having had bland pho broth at other restaurants, you realize what a specialized blend of animal and vegetable and time and umame that broth really is. Savor it before you add the sambal and the hoisin. Feel the little oily droplets of savory soup disperse on your tongue, flooding your palate with an understated meat aroma and a thick aroma. Work at the ball of perfectly cooked noodles until you've unraveled it enough to make a mess with your soup splatter. This lunch has got it all. I can't speak to the rest of the menu, because that's all ancilliary to the Pho. Eat at Pho Hung for quick soup, for good soup, for the right noodles, for gluten-free (the noodles are rice), for spiciness, and mostly just for good pho.

very good pho and bun.... the egg rolls are addictive.

Pho Hung is good, and one of the originals in the city. I would recommend it along with Ha and VL, Rose VL, Pho Oregon, Mehka, PHo An Sandy and Jade Teahouse. Most of the upper rated listings for Pho on TripAdvisor are utter rubbish.

I always get the Vermicelli bowls and love them. Place is always busy but the food always comes quickly and is always yummy.

Great pho

I like Oregon Pho better but Pho Hung is closer to where I live so I usually go here. The food is good overall but not very consistent. The service is poor however. The staffs always talk about their customers because of tipping which is very unprofessional. I am the type of person that tip based on the service provided and their unprofessional service bothers me.

Lots of families and locals. I had the spicy pho and really enjoyed it. Service is minimal - but it really doesn't need to be much more. They sit you down, take your order and bring you food. When you are done you take you table number card to the front and pay. I found it simply refreshing, tasty and fun.

We took some visiting students from Vietnam here for Pho and it made them feel like they were home again. They are a bit stingy with the Thai red basil and the bean sprouts but if you ask nicely enough they'll bring you some more. Good duck salad too.

They'd been closed a few months for remodeling, and the place looks nicer and cleaner, fresh paint and all. And just as important, the menu hasn't changed. Tony was feeling a cold coming on he went for the Pho, and said it may be better than his favorite. I had a lighter soup broth, with a fine amount of noodles, plenty of meat, including a fried chicken legs. If you have the lid of your tea pot open doesn't that mean "Please refill me?"

It's very decent bowl of pho here in Portland. The broth is good and they give you a large amount of meat. Services is so so. Location and parking is good.

It's been years since I came here. It's pretty clean, everything looks renovated and newer. Service is fast, servers were polite. I got a small and I felt like there was a lot of tripe and less of the other toppings in my bowl. The soup was good and the spring rolls were good too.

We went here on the recommendation of one of our daughter's college friends. And it reminded me of all the cheap eats places we ate at in the 1970s, when we were in college. We went with our daughter and the friend. The food was okay. I can't recommend the pork; it was cut very thin and overcooked, and gave me quite a bellyache that night. Everybody else was fine. It's a big room that's partially divided, plastic topped tables, linoleum floors (iirc--might have been carpet), wait staff that almost speak English; but we got our point across by pointing and using the menu numbers. It wasn't too busy when we were there, but I expect when it's full it's really noisy. There is off-street parking. Our total bill for 4 people came to $39 including tax but not tip.

We have been customers of Pho Hung for many years and have always enjoyed the food, the service and the prices. It has been almost a year since we dined here but this last week, while my Wife was sick, I called ahead and ordered some take out. I arrived 20 minutes after ordering and the food wasn't ready, I went ahead and paid, and was a little taken aback by the prices $27.50 for two orders of soup , 2 egg rolls and some steamed rice, but I went ahead and paid. Within a few minutes, they brought my order out, I thanked them and left...when I got home and opened the bag, I had been shorted my egg rolls and rice and when I compared the tab to the price list on-line, I still had been overcharged. I called them and they couldn't recollect my order but was told to come back next week and they would compensate me in some manner. With the wealth of restaurants in Portland, I am crossing Pho Hung off my list. We won't be back.

This is the first place I ever had Pho, and after experimenting it is the very best. Best broth by far. Salad rolls or Spring rolls are also a great appetizer. Cost is around $10 for complete meal. If you like Pho this is you spot!

very quick service and the pho there is great. have eaten at others in portland and this is my favorite. they can be curt, but they are fast and the food is good. a couple locations in portland as well.

You are not going here for the appearance. They have one of the best Pho's in Portland. Always a great beef broth and fresh basil.

Good times with the family great food with good servers. It can be busy but the pho comes out fast and the other side dishes to.

4 stars for the pho, not the atmosphere or ambience.

Pho Hung's chicken soup and any other of their soups are to die for! Their lemongrass chix is also superb!

Nothing like a bowl of really hot soup on a cold day. I understand they warm the bowls with hot water before the soup is added. It works. The soup stays hot for a long time. And very tasty to boot.

I had been going to Pho Hung since my 20's and it was awesome then and now. I moved out of state and came back for a visit and brought some friends who all agreed it was awesome. Prices and portions are different but the neighborhood has gone from "hood" to high rent too. The pho is an obvious choice and I could eat it everyday, especially on cold, windy or rainy days. The lemongrass chicken is out of this world and I have looked for the same recipe across the US and beyond and nothing compares to Pho hung. Oh yeah, same guy greeting and seating customer's too all these years, he doesn;t age so why do I?

I used to go there for their best beef soup i think for about 4 years i was there at least once a month. Couple of month ago i went there again for a bowl of soup and I was pretty disappointed: about 30% of the meat i had in my bowl it was just skin, impossible to chew, but i said I would give them another chance. About 3 weeks ago i went there again; this time the only meat i was able to eat from my soup it was the meatballs, the rest of the meat it was just skin impossible to chew and this just made me sick. Even now just thinking about that bowl of soup i get nauseated. Either they improve their quality or they might loose a lot of clients. Another thing: the restaurant was almost totally empty; only two other tables... we still had to wait for about 15 minutes for someone to help

Always a good spot to stop for a bowl of Pho. Cleanliness has improved over the years and the staff always recalls us even if it has been years.

My friend treated me to lunch after he picked me up from the airport. We both ordered the vermicelli noodles with pork and egg roll (#37). Nicely prepared and tasty flavors. Dining room staff are characters.

I ordered pho noodles, rice combinations and some spring rolls when I was dinning in. The service was extremely bad, the server didn't come back to check on us at all. The food was average, but I liked it. I wouldn't recommend anyone to try this place due to poor service .

If you are looking for a good Pho ... this is the place, If you are looking for fusion Pho, this place ain’t it. The food was great, the pricing as well as the portion. The server was very funny and friendly.. even with his broken English.. lol The food didn’t disappoint for sure! I gave 4 starts because the place really need “some” renovation

My brother and I stopped in for a quick bite to eat on a Wednesday evening. Seating is always quick, and for a restaurant near 82nd & Powell, I like the atmosphere. Light wood, well-lit with bamboo and other greenery. They have a pretty extensive menu. I decided to try the Chicken Pho for the first time. It was delicious! The prices are very reasonable, you can eat either the small bowl or large bowl of Pho. I also ordered a hot espresso with condensed milk. They bring out your cup on a plate, with a thick line of condensed milk on the bottom. A tiny percolator sits atop the cup, and the espresso slowly drips into the cup. What this restaurant did was bring out a small kettle full of hot water also, to cut the coffee. If you have ever had Thai/Vietnamese coffee, you know it is rich and strong. This was a nice touch. My brother ordered the avocado shake. Sounds weird? It kind of is, but still delicious. This is one of my favorite places to order Pho in the city. They are solid and consistent, and I always know what I'm getting.

This is my first visit to Pho Hung. I was invited by a couple of friends and thought I would make the trip out from Tigard. Upon arrival the parking lot was packed but I was able to find a spot at the last minute. I found my friend's and the waitress (who could be the owner) came over and was quite shocked with her attitude. Very short and spicy. If I wasn't a smart alec myself I would have found this rude and insulting, but not one to judge too quickly she turned out to be quite funny and hilarious. The food was absolutely fantastic at a great price. And I will definitely go back again when I'm on that side of town.

I eat at Pho Hung several times a week. It is great. My only complaint is that the walls sometimes have ears-meaning that top executives from the electronics industry eat here often so you have to watch what you say. The guy sitting next to you very well may be a director from Intel...

I eat here every Tuesday. I ate here the last week in September but tonight, a week later there is a sign in the window closed for renovations for 5 weeks. So don’t go during October 2018.

close to my house, i eat here once per week at least. love the service. kind of a ghetto atmosphere but i love it. food is excellent and fresh.

the pho is good here

I can't say for certain, but I think this pho is MSG-free. I have a sensitivity to lots of it (headache, rash) which means I generally can't eat pho. I read somewhere that Pho Hung used little (or no) MSG in their broth. We ate here a week ago, and I had no negative reactions to it. The broth was only slightly sweeter than my wife likes it (she's a regular pho-eater) but I thought it was right-on. I would definitely go back here.

Pho makes me happy on cold days, particularly when it's from pho hung!

Menu is simple, food is hot and delicious, and portions are great. They were generous with the meat and other toppings and it was very flavorful and delicious! If you're looking for North American-style service, you obviously won't find it here - it's a casual Asian-run Vietnamese pho place - it's clean, simple and cheap. The server gives you a menu, takes your order, and brings you the food, and that's all there is to it. I can't wait to come back!

Well I was little apprehensive one we decided to go to this Pho house but to my great surprise it was very nice. The restaurant was very clean a lot of attendance and service to keep your tea and water going and I have to say my salad was way better than restaurants with gone to further up the street. The peanuts also is a little different bet most of us really liked it and salad rolls were good lemon chicken was enjoyed by a couple of people and then they did this egg dish that was like a big egg shell full of vegetables and meat and that was really something all in all I think everybody in our family enjoyed their food some had take home with some made it all but I do know I'm going to try it again to see if it was just a one time deal or if it really is as good as seemed this trip

Love the food! The service is super I recommend Pho Hung to anyone and everyone who wants to eat great Pho! We go every Thursday for lunch!!

The Pho is good. The service is fast. The atmosphere is, well, get in and out Viet. Liked it. would go again. No complaints about the Pho Good broth, meat was fine and the side spices were pretty good. 8 bucks for a big bowl of Pho and spoke tea can't botch about price either

Recommended this place by a Vietnamese friend, and try to go each time I'm in town. The dream meal - the (fried) spring rolls, Vietnamese ice coffee, and pho of any type. I typically go for the more gringo pho iterations but my friends have had all the variations and can vouch for them. Also several times I have gotten the vermicelli bowls - also awesome. Fun staff who barely speak english but smile a lot and will recognize me even if I've been gone a year. Good stuff.

Recently renovated. Great food and service. They do takeout during the coronavirus shutdown. The food is fresh. We are lucky to have it within walking distance.

Beef noodle soup. You can choose your level of adventurousness. I went full in with tripe and tendons - which tasted so good. Pho is filling and soothing and makes me happy.

Came here on Sunday at noon, and the place was mobbed! Sat down is about 10 minutes. Went with experienced Pho people so we knew what to order. First experience and didn't know what to expect! Service was fair, but the pho more than made up for that. Huge portions loaded with meat, but you had me at the broth. Yikes the most flavorful beef broth I've ever had. Had pho 3 times now is 3 weeks, and in 3 states! So far this one has my vote for the best!!

On a cold, dreary day in Oregon -- of which there are many -- this is a great spot for a warm bowl of noodle soup. The prices are very reasonable, the service is fast and friendly, and the food always hits the spot.

That title says it all. The food is good, cheap, fast, and I suspect it is MSG free. I've been three times, once last year, twice this week. There are a zillion choices of pho but today I had duck soup and my husband had chicken noodle. Neither were as good as the pho but I liked that the waitress asked if I wanted the duck with or without skin. The broth was not as tasty and frankly I was a little confused how to eat it. The duck and veggies seems to have a dressing like a mild vinagrette and there was a dish of another dressing served with it. Guess I'll stick with pho in the future.

Forget the Portland locations, the Beaverton restaurant has much easier access and parking being that it's in a mini mall. Service is really quick (within 3 minutes) if you're just ordering pho. A small bowl will do the trick . but do try the rice dish or the rice noodle dish or the pancake on these really hot days. finish it off with iced coffee with condensed milk to cleanse the palate. All this will set you back about $10

i noticed a difference on its portion on both of the bowl and side vegie dish. Bean sprout didn't taste fresh. Overall you get what you pay for. i might still come back because this is my wife's favorite place.

Great Sunday morning hangover cure!

Opens early, quick service, food is great, smiles, what else an I ask for? I can drive there, eat and go back to work within 1 hour! LOL. Their vegetarian option is great too!

Pho Hung is one of the place I recommend for Pho. Pho Hung has several locations such as the one on 82nd, Powell, and in Beaverton (Canyon RD). I prefer Beaverton location because it's the cleanest of the three locations and easier parking. The Pho Hung location on Powell is on a very busy street so it's hard to get in and out of the parking lot. The parking lot is also small. As for the inside of the restaurant, it isn't clean. omg, the restroom is dirty. Sometimes when I'm in this restaurant, there's a dirty rag smell. The only time I stop by this location is to pick up my to-go order.

Good portion of Pho. Affordable, quick, good.

Craving Pho on a cloudy, cold day. Pho Hung on Powell is convenient and has fast service, but the pho broth is just so-so. I liken it to McDonald's for Viet cuisine. It fills the craving, but doesn't 'wow'. I went to thier location in Saigon and it was basically the same experience. There's ample parking and the table turnover is quick, so you'll rarely have to wait.

Apparently this place has changed hands. We saw no one familiar today and the service has really gone downhill. Wait people had to be asked several times for routine items, such as water, additional items that were to be brought to the table, etc..It was noisy and the workers seemed to dash here and there, but were not being productive. One man came around a corner quickly carrying a bowl of soup/noodles, bumped into my wife's mother and spilled hot liquid all over her pants. Can that happen, yes, of course, but he was looking and talking to one of his fellow workers and walking in a different direction without watching. The noodle with beef dish I had was one large clump of noodles, mostly stuck together and cold. Not what I expect from this place. The other dishes at our table were average, at best, due to being cold/warm, meat too tough, one noodle dish was watery. Our last time here, they were not that busy and simply do not produce the quality of product that they have in the past.

loves.

friendly place to grab a quick lunch or dinner. Service is good. Food is hit or miss depending on what dishes. Their pho is better than many places in Portland but not the best.

Had the vegetarian option. Seemed like there was only one. They barely speak English in the restaurant. The soup was extremely hot. The bowl was even hot. I added ice to get it so that I could begin to eat it. It was very tasty. I ordered the mango shake with tapioca. Not a fan of tapioca but the mango part of the shake was excellent.

We were in the neighborhood and looked up the reviews. It was rated 4.6! so we decided to give this a try. The special pho is average at best. Supposedly a large bowl but little noodles and meats. We also ordered the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef soup). That day - no pork hock and tiny amount of overcooked noodles. There are many other places in Portland that you can try both and they will be better.
Best pho in town
In my opinion i think this is the best pho around me. The customer service could improve but other than that its good. Pretty clean as well
