Great hole in wall

By Thomas L |

Had some great duck and fried rice. It’s a small hole in the wall with great food and service I’ll be back.

Excellent Chinese restaurant

By George-T-Hull |

An amazing Chinese restaurant. We went for lunch and it was very busy. Full of all types of people. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a cheery waitress who shouted out a welcome I did not understand. A bit like a Japanese sushi bar. (or Cheers if you remember it) The menu was very extensive and all the food was very fresh. It has an "A" rating for hygiene and it is well deserved. The atmosphere is hard to describe. It is bright and almost cafe like. Not table cloths and carpet. The table next to us lived in the area and said it was the best Chinese in china town. A large table of Chinese behind us were also in good spirit and I must say really did know how to order!!!! We ordered a total of only 4 dishes and there was a lot of food there and they did not skimp on the meat. The pak coy and baby broccoli was especially good. The toilets were also very clean A very enjoyable experience and very very reasonably priced for what it was

Old school since 1965

By Creeping_Death_LA |

Since 1965 this place has been feeding the masses. I've seen this place located at this corner for decades but never ate here. The different dishes we ordered were right on target we enjoyed it all. We especially liked the Tangerine (not orange) Chicken dish. I would give the place 4 stars but since they are open late until 100am, they deserve 5 stars. There's plenty of metered parking available or you can park at a lot.

Delicious Chinese Food at Student Prices

By SirConnery |

This restaurant is not licensed but it is open late. It has unpretentious decor and most patrons are casually dressed. The service was fast and attentive. There is lots of street parking close to the restaurant. Prices are really good: the bill for two with tip was $20 for two delicious dishes.

Lunch based on Trip Advisor reviews

By ZumaDawg |

We stopped at the Phoenix for lunch after checking Trip Advisor for restaurants in Chinatown. We ordered Mongolian beef and clams with green onions and ginger with white rice. The food was good, the service satisfactory and the dining area clean. Not a big place, but maybe 15 or so tables. Just south of Broadway on Ord. We enjoyed our meal.

Open late

Came after Dodger Game and the Chinese food is authentic and delishious. Not a fancy place but always full of patrons. 4 people ate for less than 30 bucks.

Not a good experience

By zbestbiker |

Really wanted some good Chinese food. Made our order and got something different. Had some really good shrimp rolls, and. Had some really good shrimp rolls, and don't want to say anything good about the rest. Food or service.

family dinner

By Jenny LC Ng |

Good old fashioned chinese food with no frills. Stick to normal family favourites like Clams in ginger sauce, any green vegetabke dish in garlic, pork stewed, the steamed sea bass, (really good), and rice and chinese chicken, off the bone. Good selection of desserts and usual chinese tea nakes a great meal. Don't forget to ask for the fresh chilli sauce! Dinner for 6 was around $110, not bad eh?

Best family style Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles

By David L |

This is how I remembered mom's home cooking. Order off the menu. The whole steamed fish with green onions is fabulous. Bitter melon with beef is great. The pickled vegetables with squid is outstanding. This is the original Phoenix Inn (The kids have opened the other units and their menus are much more contemporary). If you want

GREAT FOR LATE NIGHT SNACKING.....

By LELAND S |

Most of the time when we return from Honolulu on Hawaiian Airlines' 1PM or 2PM flight which arrives LAX about 10PM..... we stop at PHOENIX INN to have a complete dinner. The airlines don't offer meals any more. The quaklity of dishes are just like Cantonese down-home cooking and at reasonable prices!

Great lunch

By Marco D |

Impressed by the good reviews, we decided to eat to the restaurant. With so many good offers, we ended up ordering a lot ! Service was king and fast, food was good, quantities were okay and price was right. My kids, my thai wife and I were fully delighted. The restaurant deserves indeed its reputation.

Only one place open near Olivera Street on a holiday evening.

My Chinese friends liked the food, so it must be authentic. Open until 1 AM. Bummer that they don't serve beer or wine, but a good food menu.

Bonus point for being open late

By Ydnar |

I was starving and nothing was open in the area so I decided to just walk in, order and wait for takeout. The security guy at the door was friendly and it's a nice touch, maybe actually 'needed' late night in this area. At any rate, I ordered (what I hoped would be spicy) Szechuan beef with rice. It was maybe a ten minute wait, very fast, not a bad portion size but had I not known what I ordered, I would have just thought it was teriyaki beef; absolutely no heat whatsoever, no 'pepper' taste, just slightly sweet sauced beef with onions. So...a LOT of choices in the area, just not later at night. I'd probably try elsewhere before returning.

Love this hole in the wall

Great food and friendly service. Huge portions. Nothing fancy in decor just plain old authentic chinese food. Quick to take order and even with restaurant full got served rapidly. Very nice indeed. Will go back

Good late dinner...

By Erik_Swy |

I know this place since 1997 at downtown LA and last time i went was 2003 in vally blvd, alhambra just came back here again after 15 years ago. I love the pig porridge and the taste of the porridge itself really delicious and very recommended and u should try it with chinesse donuts. Other than that the pig Intestines is 1 of my favorite too. Basically i love to eat here for late dinner because this is good for porridge but they have more food besides porridge which is good too. This place suit for family restaurant. I was surprise afrer 15 years the taste has no different.

Very good Chinese restaurant.

The place is small with a no frills character and local customers. Good in case you find yourself in the area for dinner as there were only a few places open. Menu is authentic and food is prepared fresh. Try the signature dish pork and 1000 years eggs porridge.

Authentic Chinese

By ErikaDuenas |

We chose this place because it was given an A rating by telephone LA department of health (or whatever name it goes by) and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made in a vacation! Watch out for ordering too much food though! Because it is authentic - it is family style so the dishes are pretty large! We ended up having a lot of leftovers! The food is definitely incredible for the price and the waiters and waitresses are great!

Gladly again

By Dani R |

Quite inconspicuous Chinese restaurant, a bit dingy from the outside. Very friendly staff. The food (broccoli chicken) was very good. Rice, water and a teapot were free. I only paid $15.

Delicious authentic Chinese

We were delighted that this place opened late we arrived around 11pm the food was really tasty, the service was ok too and prices were incredibly reasonable

Nice staff Good food

By tanyaoq2012 |

My coworkers and I brought our students to the Phoenix Inn after visiting the Chinese American Museum. We were wonderfully surprised by >How tasty the food was. >How fresh the food tasted. >And how fast our food was brought to us. The dress attire is casual which vibes well with the energy of the restaurant. I would highly recommend the Phoenix Inn.

Phoenix is Fine

By ProfDallas |

This is the place to go for authentic Chinese cuisine in Chinatown in Los Angeles. I tried Hong Kong style for the first time. There are lots of other menu choices. Takeout is also popular. The service was excellent.

One Of Chinatowns Best

By RangerNate |

This is a small restaurant, very inconspicuous and close to Union Station. A wonderful hole in the wall corner restaurant. The service was quick and attentive and they start you off with wonderful green tea. I had the braised pork belly and Chinese broccoli, with a mountain of rice of course. The food came quick and it was a treat for my tastebuds.

Really good Chinese food

A really nice restaurant, good service and really good food. The food was reasonably priced.

DELICIOUS!!

By Stephanie L |

I use to go to another place in china town to eat Chinese food but the place closed down. My husband and I wanted to try something different. This place got 5 stars under yelp. Boy were they right! The food is GREAT!! So much flavor and a variety. We have the sweet and sour pork, that was good but not great. The beef Chow fun was super delish. The pork belly, which we have never tried, was pretty tasty. Shrimp fried rice was amazing. Kung Pao Chicken was very flavorful and delicious. This place was so good that we went back for more and we ordered to go. Vegas doesn't have the best Chinese food.

cozy but very good

By Sungr8t |

My family dined here after 8 pm on a Wed night. The place was busy and with good reason. The food is great! We ordered a variety of selctions from their menu. I ordered brocoli beef and it was some of the best I have every had. This place is also had a security guard as did many other businesses. I felt very safe walking around China town after dark.

Good Food

Our family wanted to try somewhere new, this place did not disappoint, we were all pleased with the service and food. Very fresh and savory.

Great late night food

By Marie M |

Great, great Chinese food to enjoy after a late movie, party, or just when you are in the mood for greasy, and delicious food. The service is not great, but don't take it personally. There is a security guard at the door to keep it "safe". Closes at 1:00 a.m.

Real Chinatown

By CalifDude |

Pronounced "fong sing" in Cantonese, this place is real Hong Kong style chinese food. The location in Alhambra is the one for authentic decour as the downtown one had a facelift about 2 years ago. of the MANY places i frequent, this is my favorite. Open until 1am!
