We enjoyed our lunch last Saturday afternoon. We sat outside, very pleasant. The food selection was good, service was fine, food was great. Worth the visit.

Sometimes you have an experience that will stay in your memory! The food, the service, the ambiance and the environment. All were dialed in! I recommend dining on the patio. The high wall and trees provided a true silvan setting in a busy commercial district. I hope you have the opportunity to experience Caitlyn and Amanda. They say they are not sisters but could easily pass for twins. Their enthusiasm and joy was a true uplifting experience. Their are many great places to dine in the area and Piatti Ristorante is a great start,

This place is fantastic! excellent food, service, wine, and atmosphere. This is our date night spot when in La Jolla. I always go home with a smile, a full stomach and an empty wallet. Definitely get a table under the big tree on the back patio.

Our family sat on the patio and had a great dinner. Enjoyed the risotto special every much. We had great service. Recommend reservations during peak travel times

Piatti is the best Italian restaurant in La Jolla. The food is always good, especially the pasta dishes. They have a great bar and an even better outdoor patio. Reservations are a must, as it gets crowded almost every night.

Very pleasant atmosphere in the courtyard. Reasonably priced but as they say- you get what you play for. Unfortunately the food is no better than so so. We each had a salad and they were both quite poor- all lettuce and nothing else. Had one of the pasta dishes and the red sauce was so bland. Nice place to eat but don’t go for the food.

We had such a fabulous meal last year and we were so excited to come back. Our meals weren't nearly as good. My husband's lasagna was not hot and was sent back and returned and still not hot. My rotolo did not have enough cream sauce on it so it was dry. Pasta was tough. Our waiter did not refill our empty water glasses. Empty water bottle on table. So disappointed

We have dined at Piati for 20 years or more! Last year things seemed different and this year it was definately off!! We seemed rushed by waiter..large event on patio so we were seated indoors by door to patio which was fine. We ordered Brusciatta it was average at best..kind I make on Tue eve with current inventory..lol, Ceasars salad was good. My .chicken was below average!! My friends pasta was average at best..other friend mushroom Rotola was excellent by her report. So Very Mixed Review!! Very Fond Memories of this place..Sad to think...perhaps we move on to new experiences Fond Memories under the Ficus Tree!!!

Service was very good. Food was just ok.we have eaten here for about 8 years. Service is very good and atmosphere is the same. Our dinner just wasn’t very good. Probably won’t come back.

Tried several other Italian restaurants in Carlsbad and non could compare to Piatti. Everything was terrific and great people watching while sitting at the tables in the area carved out on the street. Highly recommend this place.

Oh we had lunch here and had a delightful porcini mushroom rotolo lunch. Great Wine, lunch, service and Tiramisu!

Good service, ambiance, and food. This is a lively restaurant that always delivers good food. The menu is interesting and the wine list is ample.

As a person who avoids flour or sugar, I still enjoyed a stellar dining experience at Patti's. No matter your culinary taste, you can find an excellent balance here. This is a very popular local dining spot so make reservations or be prepared to wait. There is a bar, two dining rooms and an outdoor terrace that's good year-round with heaters. In the summer, it's nearly always pleasant due to the marine layer that rolls in later in the evening. No ocean view, just a cozy Italian dining experience. You'll love the food and the atmosphere

This review is really hard to write. We LOVE Piatti. Everything was just AWEFUL. Our waiter Ceasar was clueless. Salad was drenched with dressing. We had to ask for bread. It was stale. Waiter never came back to ask if we were ok. I wouldn't be writing this if anyone from management had come by to see if we were enjoying our meal. I did go inside to voice my displeasure but I couldn't find a hostess.

Very good food and great to dine outside during warm evenings. Consider their Rotisserie Chicken (hardly Italian but absolutely fantastic!). Great fun, great food and very nice ambiance, including their bar. Located right in La Jolla Shores commercial area. Can be tough to find parking but try not to miss!

When to this restaurant based on Trip Advisor rating. It is a good as all the reveiws. Nice location in center of La Jolla, really good choices on menu. We had a Spinach ravioli with lemon flavored sauce and Linguine with seafood. Both were outstanding, and quite reasonably priced. The starters are good but someone pricy. Service was great all in all a great spot for Italian in La Jolla

It is very busy and crowded, but in a fun way - not romantic but popular. Both the food and the service were excellent. We had an excellent arancini as a starter. Near the beach

A La Jolla Local Favorite! Italian dinning, love the calamari appetizers and linguine seafood pasta.

We frequently have dinner and take guests to Piattis. We have noticed over time changes in quality but last night the food quality was so poor I decided to do a review. While I have never eaten at Olive Garden it is hard to imagine the pasta could have been worse. The ravioli were stodgy and pasty . The other pasta dishes were overcooked . It was a major disappointment. I hope it was an off night but honestly there needs to be a greater focus on quality and Piattis needs to get back to its standards that made its success instead of relying on its reputation.

I had the Cavatappi with homemade sausage. Food was perfect and delicious. I give this restaurant my highest rating. Price was mid to high.

Have been here on many occasions and always great food, service and atmosphere! Bread great! Is a go to for business or friends gathering!

Piatti has been in the same location in La Jolla for many years and has maintained its high quality and consistent service. We were here during Restaurant Week and had the benefit of an $18 menu of delicious dishes. There is a delightful outdoor garden area with heat lamps for year round dining. On street parking is a bonus.

Probably the best spaghetti and meatballs I have ever had and I order spaghetti and meatballs a lot! Bur, our waitress had a lot to do with it, she tweaked it so it wasn't the same as on the menu. Its a little loud and is small so make reservations!

we have been eating at Piatti since 1991, At least twice a month. It never dissapoints! Simple food, extra friendly service! Excellent attention.

Great bar scene, great food, service, especially love the Veal Picatta. Reasonable corkage. indoor and outdoor seating, Always packed!

The service was great, the appetizer (Calamari) was probably the best I've had. The linguini alla pescatora (seafood linguini) was just OK. overall a good place good ambiance with good food. I'd have to try more dishes to see if I change my opinion on the just OK.

The food is so-so, at best. Service is OK, but not especially warm. Definitely, NOT good value for your money. The fact that we were asked to free our table before we had finished our meal is outrageous. The above evidences two facts: 1. Poor table management; and 2. Dollars and cents are more important than satisfied customers. Piatti doesn't realize they are in the "hospitality" business.

Instead of having a greasy pizza lunch go to this lovely hidden gem. Italian with a great menu that doesn’t disappoint. Would go again.

We were referred to this restaurant by the La Jolla Shores Hotel, it’s just down the street. We sat on the back patio (it’s quieter than out on the street seating) and had a nice, relaxing dinner. My wife had the Pappardelle with shrimp, which she loved and I had the Gluten Free Penne with Bolognese Sauce, which was also delicious. We shared an Arugula and Beet salad to start, nice and fresh, and finished with their Tiramisu, light and really delicious. My wife had their Cetriolo Spritz drink (Tito’s, St. Germain, Cucumber, Lime and Prosecco) which she said was really good. I had my usual bourbon, neat (Maker’s Mark tonight).

Yum, Yum, Yum! From the hand rolled pasta dishes to the thin, delicate crust of the pizzas you can't go wrong with anything on the menu! The staff is awesome and the atmosphere wonderful! Love this place

My wife and I had dinner at P's on July 8, 2020. Due to the Coronavirus, we ate outside on the patio, which was very inviting with a huge tree in the middle of the patio. Service was efficient and friendly. I had the clam linguine (made with angelhair) in a white wine sauce and it was very good. My wife had the artichoke pizza, which she said was excellent. The complimentary bread and dip sauce was excellent. I had a glass of the Honig sauvignon blanc to accompany dinner--nice and subtle. Overall, a very good experience; we would return.

We visited the San Diego area and planned ahead by making dinner reservations for every night of the week we were there. We booked a reservation at Piatti for 18 June at 7pm. We arrived a bit early (6:20) and we sat on a bench outside for a few minutes, because the reservation system said they were fully booked and I was was the one who was early. While waiting, two women walked up and said they did not have a reservation and were hoping to get a table for 2. They were seated immediately in the dining room. After hearing/seeing this, I walked up to the desk and let them know that I had a reservation, but was about 30 minutes early. I was told that they could seat us in the bar at a high top... we took it. I had the Cannelloni and my spouse had the Pappardelle. The pasta in the Pappardelle was a bit thick, which made me question if it was made fresh. The Cannelloni was average at best. The service was slow, but I think this was because we were seated in the bar side. There are better places to eat in the area, but the price was reasonable for what we were served. I'm not sure I'd go back though.

Our always first night dinner reservation at La Jolla Shores. Combo of great patio, friendly staff, and tasty Italian cuisine can't be beat. Popular, so make reservations.

Great atmosphere while dining outside for dinner in beautiful La Jolla. Food was fresh and prepared with care . We had the herbed polenta and calamari for appetizers . For dinner we had cannelloni with short ribs, veal and pork meatballs , hot salami pizza , wild mushroom rotolo, and the orecchiette - all dishes were amazing . Authentic and tasty . Service was attentive while keeping up with COVID safety precautions . Definitely recommend

This was my grandmother's most frequented restaurant (she retired in La Jolla). I remember coming here a ton as a kid and loving it, and I recently had the opportunity to revisit it after fifteen years. I must say that I was not disappointed. The ambiance was great, exuding a very chill "classy-casual" vibe. The service was impeccable, and the food was amazing. I had several drinks, ranging from the house cab to specialty cocktails, all of which were great. It's nice to see such a staple of the community not only persist throughout the years, but continue to maintain its standard of excellence across the board. Deliciously, Clayton Cohn

Sat outdoors to enjoy people watching on this pedestrian-only section of La Jolla Village. We got excellent recommendations from our waiter and enjoyed our dishes which were served hot and delicious. Choose their private outdoor garden for a more intimate dining experience.

We live in AZ and visited this for lunch during our girls trip in August. We sat outside in the garden area and it was beautiful. I ordered the margarita pizza and my vegan niece ordered the vegan pizza. Both were super good and the first time I finished a whole one! I believe it was a 10 inch pizza but still, a lot for me. My sister had the angel hair and loved it too. Now fast forward to Sept. We went to San Diego and picked this place for my birthday dinner. Night and Day. First Italian restaurant I have been to that charges you for bread. Then the waiter asked if we wanted apps when we said no, he chirped great! We had to wait 45 minutes for a table so it was getting late and I am sure he wanted to go home but we had been traveling all day and caught a sunset cruise so by 8:30 we were tired and hungry too! I ordered the pizza again to be easy and it was terrible. It was so over floured and not cooked all the way. I ate like one slice and took the rest home, which I did not finish. We didn't feel very welcomed to begin with so I wasn't about to ask them to cook it more. My hubby ordered the ravioli. It was good but extremely small portion. I don't think I will be back after that last visit.

We were in the La Jolla area for a family party and holiday and wanted to find a special place to take my grandmother for her 87th birthday lunch. We just searched for restaurants in the area and landed on Piatti because of the glowing reviews and `menu which was diverse enough for our party of 14 with varied dietary needs, from full on vegan to full on carnivore and everything in between, with ages equally varied. We sat on the lovely patio, with a fantastically attentive waitress.. Every single one of us was beyond satisfied with our meal, which was a pretty wide selection off the menu. I think you cant go wrong with this place.. The wines were great, the atmosphere was perfect and the the service was excellent, even for a large, demanding party.. we were treated so well. Cant wait to return!

It’s a beautiful place I sat outside. There were a few people waiting when I got here but they sat me fast. My server was Monica, she was nice but it took over 20 mins to get the lines for my water and my salad. She never came back to the table once after bringing my water and after I sat it took about 10 mins for her to come. The plates on the table were dirty….the service just wasn’t there. She was nice but the service honestly was terrible I sat with dirty dishes at the table for over 20 mins waiting for her to come back I couldn’t order drinks bc she never came back. (Her service did get better towards the end! She provided a great desert recommendation ) I ordered the: mesclun salad- it was amazing! Very flavorful. Lemon herb half jidori chicken- it was good, the chicken tasted amazing with the sauce that was on it. The mashed potatoes definitely needed salt and pepper. Tiramisu-AMAZING (I am biased bc I love tiramisu but it was honestly really good) Budino di mela- looks and is very similar to bread pudding. Think apple bread pudding. It came out cold as well. Espresso- came out cold the first go round

My wife and I like laid back local restaurants. This place offers very good Italian food in a relaxed atmosphere. Good service.

We recently went on a vacation to La Jolla. Booked a table for dinner 2 months in advance after reading amazing reviews. On the day of the dinner, I got a call from them to confirm the reservation. They also confirmed my request for patio seating. When we went, this place was packed. We arrived 15 min early but our table was ready despite people waiting in line to get a table. 5 stars for that alone ! We ordered about 6 different dishes - pasta, pizza, starters etc. Everything was amazingly delicisous, tasted fresh. The vegan pasta was awesome. We saw at least three tables with people celebrating b'days, saw several couples who seemed like were on a date.. so in general people go to this place for special occasions. Definitely one of the best Italian food we have had. Though expensive, worth every single penny and more. Just book in advance to get a table and also to find parking (we got lucky), and ask for patio seating.

Great restaurant - always busy and shout out for Patrick. Very attentive and friendly. We’ll be back and can’t recommend this place highly enough

We had the veal and linguine -it was superb - just like in Italy - the vine was good and the service excellent.

This restaurant is heaven for those who must avoid gluten. We’ve never seen so many gluten free pasta offerings on a menu before. That aside, the entire meal was flawless starting with the warm olives appetizer and ending with the dark chocolate dessert. We were seated outside away from the hustle and bustle indoors. The street is closed to traffic, so the table was perfect. All of the servers were wonderful. We can’t wait to return.

The past two years my friend and I have chosen Piatti to celebrate our birthdays. We love to dine in the private courtyard; it’s a very relaxing environment to share a meal. The menu offers many options, and can say everything we have had was beautifully prepared and presented. There are so many good pasta dishes it can be difficult to choose.

This is one of our favorite places in San Diego and whenever we can we come back!!! They have the best Italian food and their staff is so nice and helpful always!!! Love their location!!! They make the best Negronis!!!!

Stopped by on a friend's recommendation was had great meal. There is seating at the bar, on patio, or in restaurant dining rooms. It can be noisy when packed but outside a little calmer. Brought bottle of wine and paid $25 corkage fees but wine & beer list nice. Server was very nice and friendly, explained specials, and answered questions. Appetizers were wonderful especially fried cauliflower. Great pizzas and pasta dishes. Loves the chicken, sundries tomatoes and gorgonzola sauce. Nice selection of desserts too. Definitely deserves a return visit. Reservations a good idea and if driving, leave time to find a parking place. Take a stroll after dinner to beach. $$-$$$.

I haven't been back here since 2018, though my friend who visits his 89 yr. old mother with a walker frequents this place because the mom loves the food. I had made 5:00 p.m. reservations way in advance to dine here 2 times requesting the mothers favorite spot: outside by the big tree. First visit, we arrived at 4:55. We were told that the table was just clearing out. 5:10, we were told the people still have not left. 5:20, again we were told that they are slowly getting up and that we could sit inside or on the street patio, and the 89 year old mom wanted her table. 5:30, finally we were seated, no management apologies, no complimentary round of drinks for the inconvenience of an 89 year old women waiting with a walker. Business management should either post a time frame limit (which I've seen) to your customers or don't take overlapping reservations. Second visit, again we arrived at 4:55 and yes, this time our table was ready. Both visits, the cocktails, food and service from both Laura and Alex was excellent. FYI they make excellent Cosmos. Food ordered: Beef Carpaccio, Burrata Salad, Veal Picatta, Mushroom Rotolo, Spaghetti & Meatballs, Lasagna and Pei mussels. All the dishes came out hot, fresh and tasting great! Atmosphere: Indoor and outdoor seating. Service: excellent. Food: very good. Just don't make your customers wait 1/2 hour for their reservation.

We visited here after reading some great reviews and boy we weren’t disappointed. The service was great and the food absolutely outstanding! I’m vegetarian and had a gorgeous pasta dish and the others with me had pizza and lasagne. All of us can’t stop talking about how much we loved this place. We were unfortunate enough to find this little gem on our last evening there if not we would have visited again for sure!

This was not our first time here and it is still the best Italian food in the area. Our waiter was awesome (been there 27 years!) and our food perfectly prepared. We usually sit outside but a bit too cold so enjoyed a cozy table inside. Extensive wine list (a bit pricey) but another enjoyable meal!

Everything in this restruant is outstanding. I personally love the pation in early evening and the wait staff is teriffic.

Piatti has a lovely outdoor patio, has delicious food, and is favored by the locals. Dress is casual dressy. We got great service.

One of our favorite restaurants in San Diego. The food is great. We have never ordered anything we didn't like and we have been coming here a couple times a year for awhile. The pasta dishes are great. We like their selection and their seasonal specials. Sitting out in the patio is less noisy than inside and very pleasant. Service has been consistently well done. If you have a celebration here such as a birthday, they will print the person's name on a video menu for the table for a special keepsake. Afterwards we usually take a walk down to La Jolla Shores which is just a couple blocks away. Great ending to a great meal. Parking may be a challenge in the summer.

Italian restaurant in the heart of La Jolla with a nice atmosphere. The food was very good food and the service was fine. Both indoor and patio seating are available but reservations are generally required.

Well above average Italian fare, but the service was very inattentive, and the restaurant itself is in need of a facelift.

Requested a private room for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Sat and fed 28 people with one waitress. She was great as was the food. Unfortunately the room wasn’t really private. We had open wall to the patio and the kitchen the other side. The idea of having some space and privacy to have speeches was shelved as it was so noisy.

We stopped here for lunch as a family on my sister’s birthday. We did make a reservation since we were in a party of 6 and wanted to make sure we could dine in. The food was AMAZING and delicious. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and even ordered a second portion of the Polenta appetizer since it was so good. Every single plate of food we received was delicious and the service was delightful as well!

Late lunch with family Parking is very limited, cute place with outside seating, amazing bread with dipping sauce, vegetarian lentil soup, eggplant ravioli & seafood pasta is awesome ! Wow must food and staff are super friendly definitely coming back in a few days😁

Lovely location. Justin, my server, was great. Try the wonderful bruschetta and Lincoln Station wine. My husband and I will return for dinner soon.

Been to this place several times and all the dishes I've ordered are always delicioso (Saffron Pappardelle and calamari). Although the best dish to try is their rib-eye. I know.....why go to an Italian restaurant and order steak? Trust me.....just try it and you'll agree with me. Enough said. :-)

My friend and I are both locals and love Piatti and so when we found an easy parking spot, we knew this was our lunch place for my birthday!! We shared an order of cauliflower cakes for an appetizer and they were great! This item will definitely be my “go-to” for first course choice going forward. My friend chose her favorite chopped salad and I chose what sounded rather intriguing and light/summery: watermelon with prosciutto and mozzarella, drizzled with balsamic vinegar and sprinkled with cracked pepper. My dish was both artistically beautiful and exquisitely delicious! My friend said her salad was good, but she was going to try my selection next time, it was so beautiful, simple and delicious. I am definitely going to make this for a light dinner at home this week! Dining is available inside or outside. Outside, there are cafe tables along the sidewalk and there are also patio tables under their beautiful aged huge tree in the back patio. This is a very special place, if you can get a table there. Parking is on the street and can be difficult at meal times so be persistent and explore residential streets.

My wife and I went to Piatti on our first night in La Jolla based on strong online reviews. We arrived about ten minutes before our reservation time and were seated immediately. We both ordered wine, which was delivered quite promotly despite the place being pretty full. We shared an appetizer, the risotto balls, which were delicious. They were fried just right, had a nice balance of heavy, creamy risotto, tangy goat cheese, and acidic yet sweet tomato sauce. My wife ordered spaghetti with veal and pork meatballs. She thought it was really good. I tried the meatballs and they were quite delicious. They were tender, flavorful, and not overly seasoned like meatballs often are. She was very pleased with her meal. I ordered linguine with seafood. It was linguine in tomato sauce with mussels, calamari, shrimp, and fish. The linguine was prepared perfectly, and the tomato sauce was pretty good. The fish and mussels were nicely done, but the shrimp and calamari were both incredibly over cooked. They were just all kinds of bad. I can’t imagine a professional chef letting them leave the kitchen the way they were...it was like chewing on rubber bands. Even with the shrimp and calamari being over cooked I was pleased with my dinner. The texture was bad, but the flavor was good. All of the seafood Gabe the tomato sauce a nice brine-like taste that really added to the dish. It could have stood for a bit more seasoning, but that’s really personal preference. The service was excellent at Piatti. Everyone was attentive yet unintrusive. Our orders arrived exactly as we asked for them, and I have nothing but praise for the staff we encountered. All in all I’d recommend giving Piatti a try, and I would eat there again. I’d just avoid the more delicate seafood.

This was recommended by our hotel. We wanted something where we could dress casual and wasn’t too, too pricey. This placed was packed with people and understandably so. The hostess was charming, the waitress engaging, the bartenders friendly and knew what they were doing........the pasta and Italian sausage, homemade and incredibly good. The portions were generous and priced just right. A place you’ll crave again and again.

With the heat and humidity lasting so long in La Jolla, we chose to sit inside, but the outdoor patio seating around the big lighted tree is stunning, day or night so you have good choices inside or out. There is also seating for dinner in the bar area (tables) and at the bar as well. With the heat, we chose a light summer appetizer of watermelon drizzled with balsamic glaze and basil served with mini mozzarella balls and thin slices of prosciutto. Delicious, simple, and fresh. For sinner I enjoyed the veal scaloppini which was amazing, absolutely delicious! I substituted mashed potatoes for the mushroom/rice cake and haricots vert for the sautéed spinach. Just my preferences. My friend ordered the pasta special: spaghetti with four types of mushrooms. She said it was flavorful but a bit too heavy on the olive oil. Overall a wonderful evening though the noise level really got loud as the evening progressed. Reservations are a must. Parking is difficult so be patient and drive on the side streets looking for a spot. Arrive early for your reservation to allow time to find a parking spot. Enjoy!

Piatti in La Jolla is lovely - nice ambiance, white table cloths, above average wait staff/bartenders and the food is consistently good. The patio on a warm evening is romantic and so pretty. Tables in doors are pleasant as well. Nice for a special occasion, a business appointment or couples dinner.

We started to go to Piatti about two years ago, after reading the outstanding reviews. It started out great, but has clearly decided to rest on it's past laurels. The final straw was when we took out-of-town friends there for dinner on a Friday night (on the late side). The place was extremely noisy, and the service was terrible. We were basically ignored for 45 minutes (yes, they did give us bread), including that we had to chase down the server to order our food and drinks. She did so in an almost hostile way, and got part of the order wrong. After an hour, after asking one of the other staff what was up, the food arrived lukewarm (it must have been sitting). The quality was blah, and certainly not worth the wait. That will be our final visit.

We have been going about once a week since they initiated outside on the street dining This was always one of our favorite restaurants but their covid protocol is fantastic and they follow CDC guidelines -so besides the wonderful food and incredible service you feel "safe " and confortable

The food was mediocre, but the service was outstanding. I had to ask for a steak knife to cut my chicken, it was so tough I didn't eat it.

A Birthday celebration at Piatti was 4 stars! The missing star is because the patio heaters were not working effectively and it was a very chilly evening. Our party of 9 wore jackets during the entire meal. The 4 stars are based on the delicious food served at the right temperature and the great service. As another reviewer mentioned, the city of LaJolla made a wise decision by blocking off the street so the restaurants could expand their outdoor dining. Parking was easy to find on a Monday night.

Lively place is a good date night choice in La Jolla Shores. I had the cannelloni filled with braised short rib and the grilled hearts of romaine. The Romaine was unbelievably tasty mostly because it was wrapped in prosciutto and roasted, but the dressing was also tasty. I moderately enjoyed the braised short rib cannelloni. My main complaint was that I was left wanting more rib than the cheese filling. Wife had the Saffron pappardelle and the baby field greens salad. The salad included roasted cauliflower, which, if you’re going to eat cauliflower, is the way to do it! Her main dish was to die for: the shrimp was cooked perfectly and the balance of the saffron with the arugula and tomatoes in the white wine broth was perfect. As mentioned above, it can be a lively / loud place, so we sat on the patio and enjoyed the cool night and a bit less noise. Prices seemed fair — a good value for the food, great service and fun atmosphere.

outstanding service and food. OK limited menu but should meet everyones needs. prime steak for my wife and liver for me were excellent good wine selection if pricey. great location

Outstanding Italian restaurant. I had the meatball spaghetti, and my wife had the ravioli and both were outstanding. My wife had the warm olive appetizer (she's an olive nut) and I had the calamari. Both were delicious.

Had the best Italian meal here. Food was delicious and interesting and staff were very friendly We will return

We come to Piatti's often. The place has a lovely ambience and they have a nice patio. Most of the time the food is very good, sometimes it's average. It was my daughter's birthday and 12 of us went to celebrate. The menu always seems to be the same and they do not change it very often. They often have specials that is not on the regular menu, but this time they did not have it. We got a selection of pastas, pizzas and salads. All was very good. Service was good, as usual. My only disappointment was that they didn't have any fish on the menu, other than farm raised salmon. I do not like to eat farm raised fish. Would have preferred a wild caught fish.

Even though the server made a mistake when taking the notes of what we were going to order, she was the nicest person ever. The wait was worth the plate. I had a pasta with porcini sauce and it was extraordinary. I really recommend this place.

Outstanding service, great ambiance, and DELICIOUS food!! A must try! Everyone working at restaurant is so kind and friendly. Our server Noah was so great i asked his name to make sure I included in the review and feedback to restaurant! We sat outside and patio is very inviting. The food was outstanding! The risotto is a must try! Pizza looked great with its think crispy crust and I plan to try next time (there will definitely be a next time). Salads are fresh and tasty too! A gem!

Our research on TA paid dividends when we booked lunch at this amazing seaside restaurant in La Jolla. We sat outside as the weather was so warm and thoroughly enjoyed the comfortable setting, serving ladies, delicious food and fair price - what was not to like!! This was such a superb find that we ate dinner there the following evening which was equally as good. That is a brilliant sign of a professional and caring restaurant if ever I saw one. From the most delicious warm bread and chilli oil to a decadent chocolate dessert, everything presented to us was amazing. Don't take our words for it - check it our yourselves!! You will not be disappointed. A huge thank you to all the staff, front and back- you made our holiday!

The food was very good, the waitstaff were excellent. The hostess was disorganized and not very responsive.

The Piatti is a very good Italian Resturant , and for CA very reasonably prices. We were a party of 5 and everybody was happy with the food. Salad , Fish , Pasta and Pizza (best in town or even in all CA !!) all very nicely done. We had an table out side which I recommend as the restaurant is pretty busy and the noise level in side migth be a bit elevated. Wine list is excellent, many of my favorites are on , but go for the Piatti House wine bottle , it is a nice wine . In a nutsheel , excellent food , drinks , very good service ,reasonably priced, so I highly recommend

Many years ago, I found this beautiful restaurant on my way to kayak the cove, now it’s my FAVORITE place on earth to eat pasta! The service is always lovely, the cocktails are delicious and, consistently, the food here is stellar. I like it best pre-dinner crowd @ the bar for drinks then moving to table for main meal. You can’t help but relax, this is what vacation meals should be! See you soon...

The food and service were excellent at Piatti. Our server made excellent recommendations and despite a significant allocation of tables, provided perfect service. The only negative is parking. There is very little--and we were then on a week night. It took several passes to find a parking spot--and it was barely a spot in a section of the street that was under construction.

It's not easy to get a reservation at this amazing restaurant but it is worth the wait. Especially if you can sit out on the amazing patio under the lovely tree. (Heat lamps keep you plenty warm even on cold nights.) The staff if very good and no one rushes you. And the food.... It starts with the amazing bread and garlic olive oil dip and continues from there. Everything is impeccable. We had a birthday girl with us and they gave her a lovely tiramisu slice with a candle to celebrate. It was a perfect experience.

I am just returning from a 5 night trip to San Diego with my husband and daughter. We stayed at La Jolla Shores Hotel right down the street and ended up getting dinner there two nights. First night was take out - a salad and order of their cannelloni. Unfortunately they packed up the wrong salad to go but what we were given was still tasty (the one with oranges and almonds!). Another night we all went there and sat outside. The kids menu was lovely and my daughter enjoyed the chicken, Mashed potatoes and broccoli. My husband and I split the salad with cauliflower and feta (what we originally wanted for take out!). For entrees I got their shrimp and pappaderelle and my husband got their veal scallopini. Both were delicious and I’d highly recommendation this restaurant.

Piatti is a nice Italian restaurant right by la Jolla shores beach. It is one of the nicer restaurant there. I really like their bread and dip and also their appetizers. Do I recommend eating those and ship the main course.

I followed the recommendations from TripAdvisor and could not have made a better choice. I was hungry and had a short time for my next event. There I was and everything went smoothly and perfect. No rush, all in time with a smile and a friendly advice or suggestion to add to my choices and preferences. I had a panini and it was delicious. I recommend the beer Ballast Point.

This restaurant is extraordinary for being able to provide excellent food, terrific service and a lovely (but sometimes too noisy) atmosphere for decades! We 4 friends had a perfect meal on the patio there after a La Jolla Symphony and Chorus concert, and found it wonderful in every respect. I particularly value the unpretentious, friendly wait staff who treat everyone with the same degree of warm attention and respect even when it's busy, and the kitchen staff who can do the same even as the orders keep pouring in. Thanks to all for being there!

We have been coming to this restaurant for many years when we are in La Jolla. It was disappointing that they have changed to how they serve their bread and dip but all else was delicious. Excellent mussels. Very fresh. Calamari with asparagus was a crispy treat. Ravioli stuffed with eggplant was a tasty surprise. Best dessert was the ciocalata cake. Reasonable prices for today’s high prices in restaurants. Good service. I just wish they had not changed their bread service . We will be back!

We’ve been here several times but maybe because it’s always busy, a neighbourhood fav, the standards have dropped. We start with grilled calamari and shrimp. It’s light and fine and actually no big standout complaint. But the mains aren’t great. I have shrimp with tomatoes in pasta and it’s just so-so. My husband has scallopini and it’s O.K. Lots of spinach and a pie made from risotto- interesting I suppose. It’s just that I’ve had such good pasta here- food that used to sing with the freshness of ingredients and great combo that we think they are resting on their laurels. Likely we won’t return. Sorry. Also it’s really noisy here. The evening isn’t a total waste as we do a beach walk and it’s beautiful.

Sat outside in a lovely patio area. Service was excellent and and the food was wonderful. Highly recommend the restaurant.

We had a fabulous dinner at Piatti's on Tuesday night. The restaurant's local cabernet was quite tasty. Our appetizer was calamari, shrimp and asparagus, and was very tasty. My friend and I shared the pappardelle with shrimp. The sauce was amazing and so delicious. All in all, we would return to this restaurant every time we go to La Jolla.

My husband and I walked to Piatti to enjoy a dinner on a slightly overcast La Jolla evening. The bread with oil and herb dipping sauce was delicious. We first split the grilled hearts of romaine salad and found it to be a tasty and great start for dinner. We then followed with the vegetarian mushroom and eggplant pizza and cannelloni stuffed with braised short ribs. The vegan pizza was good, but it would've been helpful to have been reminded the 'cheese' was a non-dairy homemade topping. It was fine, but we wished we had some cheese (though we understand there is a demand for non-dairy). The cannelloni was very good. We found the service to be friendly and attentive. At the time we ate our dinner, the restaurant was quite full and a little bit loud, but not unpleasantly so.

Been going to Piatti since 1995 when my boys went to UCSD in the late 1990's and early 2000. We were disappointed when we went right after covid but it has improved since then. Still the most popular restaurant in La Jolla Shores. My grandson loved the half chicken and the granddaughter almost licked her plate of pasta. The mushroom risotto was good but the Pappardelle Shrimp had more lemon then we liked but it was still good and the portions haven't shrunk like many other places. The disappointment was that the warm Ciabatta bread and dipping oil is no longer free but a loaf now costs $5. Food and service was good, up to the Piatti standards we've known for years.

We visited Piatti on a busy Friday evening. Service was good, by the food was excellent. I ordered Fettuccine Alfredo (which wasn't even on the menu) and it was the best Fettuccine Alfredo I have had in years. My wife had a Butternut Squash Ravioli which she really enjoyed and my friend had a good Lasagna. Everyone's plate was clean at the end. I finished the meal with a very good Tiramisu.

We had a lovely evening at Piatti while visiting La Jolla. Service was welcoming, friendly and efficient. We sat outside, undercover without having made a booking (we were lucky to get a table). The food was good but by no means the best Italian we've ever had, my pasta was stuck together in sections and the shrimp was a little chewy. With that being said the food presentation was lovely, and we still enjoyed our evening at Piatti, the setting is very nice and the Aperol Spritz we ordered were very good.

La Jolla has many charms, but through them all Piatti has remained one of my favorites. The location is great because it is right down the street from the beach. Their bread is the best, and every dish I have tried has impressed me. Now every time I go to La Jolla it has become a tradition to go and eat dinner.

My wife and I had the opportunity to dine at Piatti Restaurant for first time during a recent stay at Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines. Piatti was highly recommended by a local seasoned bartender who dines there often. We also noticed they were top rated on Trip Advisor. Being from Northeast we are always a little skeptical if the quality of Italian food can live up to our expectations. Piatti prepared high quality flavorful dishes with great service. Our server Tim was excellent. He was very knowledgeable of the ingredients of each dish and how it was prepared. He even allowed us to alter our dish a bit to make it how we wanted. Tim was also was very helpful recommending a great wine. Thanks Tim for making our visit to Piatti great. The restaurant GM Tom was also very attentive to every guest. He would check in occasionally to make sure everything was going well. Piatti is obviously Tom’s Baby and it shows by the way he treats its customers. Piatti is well run and delivered an outstanding dining experience in a relaxed setting. We recommend a table outside in the back garden. Compliments to Chef and the culinary team. Our Cesar salad was great as well as the veal piccata over linguine and seafood pasta dishes. The olive bread dip was super delicious. Hope to be back soon!

We enjoyed a tremendous dinner at Piatti. The home made ravioli (vegetarian) with lemon sauce was to die for. Best pasta ever! Looking forward to returning with friends.

Amazing atmosphere, super chilled. The servers are so welcoming and helpful. Their wine and pasta are perfection. Make sure you have the creamy mozzarella starter - it’s to die for!

The food is consistently good and the servers are friendly. I would have given it 5 stars but for the fact they use canola oil. The dip for the bread for instance should be olive oil but is canola. The ambiance is especially nice if you can eat outside in the back area or the street side outside as it is very noisy inside especially during the dinner hour. Unfortunately this seems to be the way people enjoy their meals having to speak loudly to be heard. We are happy to have this eatery in the neighborhood.

consistently great food and service (but make reservations)...on monday evening a line out the door, why? the bread and dip are outrageous. menu is varied... a great lemon chicken dinner with all the trimmings and under $20...are you kidding?

We were hungry for some Italian food, and so glad we came here after reading the reviews. The food was excellent: carpaccio, calamari, seafood pasta... everything we tried was delicious! The service was attentive but a little slow, it was all right with us. Will go back in a heartbeat!

Great place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary as they put your name on your menu. Food was outstanding, service was fine but we sat too near an open door and across from a loud table. I would recommend sitting outside on a warm night or bundle up under the heaters.

How wonderful for folks from drizzly, cold Seattle to dine (under heat lamps) on a charming patio in the middle of winter! We both had chicken dishes, two different ones, which were delicious and generous portions. They run a professional and personable operation, and we will definitely return.

Great food and quick service. Nice to stop in for a bite after a day of snorkeling! Delicious food that fills you up!

Piatti has been here for many years now and is consistently good. Not cheap but not super expensive and parking can be a bit of a problem during the holiday season.

Ate dinner here with friends recently, but have been many times over many years. Piatti is always good, and is my choice in this area which has three Italian restaurants within a block. The atmosphere is lively, and the patio seating area is very lovely and romantic. Piatti offers a wide array of dishes - salads, pastas, appetizers, pizzas, and fish/seafood/chicken etc but I was disappointed that I was unable to have the vegetable toppings offered on a pizza on pasta instead. As a vegetarian, I would love to have more options at Piatti. The pasta dish I ordered was fine, but more vegetable offerings would be great. One particularly excellent thing at Piatti is the garlic/oil/herb dip served with bread at the outset - hard to stop but you need to leave room for the rest of the meal.

This restaurant was recommended by the owner of The Cottage for an excellent dinner during our stay in La Jolla. He was right. The four of us enjoyed our meal immensely! The butternut squash ravioli with a delicious cream sage sauce was outstanding. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Food was just "fine" to us--not bad at all but nothing amazing. I ordered the seafood pasta (seafood was very good but I felt like the pasta itself was just okay) and my husband had the cavatappi with sausage. Ambience was nice outside, if a little loud.

What a great restaurant! Everything we ordered was really delicious. From the Grilled Romain Salad to Vasuvio Pasta and Tiramisu… every bite was better than the last. Our waiter was excellent! We will surely return!

During my business trip needed up (again) at Piatti in La Jolla. Sitting in the garden is a very nice experience. It’s upscale but not fancy so you feel comfortable. Food wise no issues. Quality of pasta was excellent. When back to San Diego and La Jolla will come again.

Really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service here. Started with the calamari and shrimp which was delicious, followed by the beef short rib cannelloni which was even better. The bread basket with the chilli oil was great too. This is a definitely a special occasion restaurant as we saw at least 3 tables celebrating birthdays. We ate on the patio so this meant these larger groups weren't too noisy which can be the case inside - good planning by the restaurant! I definitely wish this was my local Italian!

We made reservations for dinner in La Jolla and we were glad we did! The bread with dipping sauce was the star of the night honestly. I would have been perfectly happy with that and the salad. The main course was ok and dessert was delightful. The service was top notch!!

Excellent food. The sauce was wonderful Good service. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We walked from our hotel, La Jolla Shores. We tried the roasted olives for an appetizer. had never seen that before. Very good and large variety of olives and big portion, took some home. Great bread. Lasagna was excellent and the gelato for dessert hit the spot.

I really can't see how Piatti gets to be in the top three restaurants in La Jolla. The place is bright and noisy and clearly popular with the botox set. The wine list is reasonable, and not overpriced, and service was brisk but unfriendly. The problem is the food. Everyone around me had ordered pasta and seemed to be loving it, but we went for the entrees section of the menu. As for the starters, the calamari was OK (nothing better) but the lettuce in my salad didn't look or taste fresh. Main courses: my wife's veal piccata was good but the meatloaf (recommended both in these reviews and by the server) was not. It was bland and over-salted, served with undercooked beans and overcooked mash, with huge portions not compensating for the quality. Desserts: affogato was OK (hard to screw up) and I must admit the tiramisu was good. The food, ambiance and service was far better at the Osteria Romantica across the road. Maybe I was unlucky (a sample of two meals isn't really representative) but I won't go back

Everything was delicious and the service was great! We had the cauliflower to start and butternut squash ravioli and cannelloni for mains. The dessert wasn't fantastic, but I think I ordered poorly on that. We had the budino di mela and it had a weird grainy topping that I couldn't get past. Budinos I've had in the past were more of a custard, but this was a bread pudding.

The food is excellent here, the place is lovely, and the staff were uniformly terrific. Get dessert.

Our pumpkin cheesecake was amazing - so flavorful and fluffy! The portion size of dinner (Ravioli) was on the smaller side but flavor was still good - the tomato sauce was strong and great flavor! The cannelloni was very good as well! Our service was excellent, the ambiance was nice too. Lots of room to eat outside with heaters if desired.

Piatti has been at this location for over 20 years and is consistently excellent. From the bread that provides an excuse for the fantastic dipping sauce (heavy on garlic) to the salads, pastas, mains...it’s always wonderful! In a neighborhood with two other Italian restaurants across the street, Piatti rules. The outdoor patio is a lovely spot when the weather is good and the inside dining areas are lively and have a nice ambiance. Service is always good. You just can’t go wrong here, but do make advance reservations or you’ll be disappointed.

I booked our group of 18 here for dinner. Service absolutely phenomenal as we were all separate checks. Drinks, dinner, desert were all delicious. Service and food were all exceptional.

Unassuming on the outside, once inside you are transported to a sleek Italian, beautiful restaurant -- but even better is the courtyard, cleverly designed around a tree, the patio is such a wonderful spot to savor a meal. The pesto/basil ravioli in lemon cream sauce was SO good!! The highlight was the crunchy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside bread that came with some sort of voodoo magic olive oil dipping sauce that is honestly the one food I'd choose to accompany me if I was stranded on a deserted island.

Do not even bother to try to visit this Restaurant. The crowd and street parking was so bad that it would have taken us over an hour to walk from the car to this restaurant. Recommend avoiding this wholde mess on the weekend.

My daughter and I went here to celebrate her 16th birthday. The service was amazing...so friendly! We sat outside on the patio, which was beautiful. The food was great too.

Piatti's is a hidden gem of a restaurant found in La Jolla Shores, two miles from the touristy traffic of downtown La Jolla. On the way to La Jolla Shores beach, you drive down a three block strip colored with specialty shops and sprinkled with one-of-a-kind restaurants. Piatti's is one of those treasures, serving excellent Italian food, and known mostly to locals. There are two outdoor patios, and next year, Piatti's celebrates its thirtieth anniversary. As a local La Jollan, this is one of the places I take my visitors.

Piatti was a wonderful experience! The decor was lovely; we ate in the courtyard which was relaxing and very pretty All the meals were excellent! I had a Rotola with a mushroom cream sauce, one of the best meals I ever had. Service was attentive, friendly and informative. If you are in the area, you should definitely try it! It's also worth the drive.

Excellent menu selection and customer service. Food is delicious! Nice bar and hand crafted cocktails. Saffron Pappardelle and Cavatappi pasta dishes were outstanding. Also had the Caesar Salad and Tiramisu with a dip of salted caramel ice cream. Everything was delicious. Service is the best too!

Had a good time at Piatti's. The food was very good, good selection. Lots of wine. The outside patio was comfortable, the heaters kept the area warm even though the weather was cool. Good service. Nice atmosphere. A little noisy since they had a full house.

Food and service were excellent. The waitress, Kate, was very personable and her food recommendations were spot on. Their bread is delicious and it is served with the best dipping oil aid have ever tasted.

We sat outside and needed time to catch up. Our waiter was extremely patient, checking on us but never rushing us. He let us linger over our drinks, talking and catching up before we were ready to order lunch. Food was terrific. Everything you want in a restaurant, ambiance, service and food! All five stars.

The food is excellent. The environment is too noisy for my taste. I like to have a table outside for that reason.

Went here while in LaJolla on a business trip. The ambiance was lovely and the food was excellent. Adjustments to recipes where diners had special needs were quickly accommodated. The cauliflower cakes are a must try! Lasagna was excellent. Can't say much more. If you're looking for Italian in LaJolla, this is the place to go.

Great location, wonderful service and delicious food. We were not adequately dressed for dinner so we asked to be seated on the back patio - we couldn’t have been happier with the heaters and ambience. The food was delicious - I generally do not order chicken for fear of it being dry, but is was very tasty and juicy. My son’s ordered the cannelloni with short rib and the cavatappi with housemade sausage -neither disappointed. I would, however, pass on the Caesar salad. It was bland and could tell it was premade and had been in the fridge. Overall would come back. Tiramisu was also a winner.

Even in a pandemic this was a great dinner experience. Everyone working there had great customer service. Food was delicious!!! We sat out in their cute outdoor area. Perfect night!!

The bread is amazing! Just a 3 min walk from the beach. The pastas are good but expensive. The kids pizza is the same size than the once in the menu so if you want pizza go for the kids. The service is warm and kind. I will recommend the place for a couples dinner.

Lovely little neighborhood type of place that we went by the first time as no sign was visible. Luncheon special was tasty and filling. Would be lovely to dine in outdoor patio area under large tree if weather cooperated. Tables close together and I could hear all of my neighbors news.

Piatti was everything the reviews say and more. Our server was Jason and he did a great job taking care of our table. I started out with the Grilled Hearts of Romaine that consisted of grilled prosciutto along with a hazelnut vinaigrette. It had to be one of the best tasting salads I have ever had. I asked Jason how they make it because I would like to try to make it at home. Next up was the Orecchiette pasta with grilled chicken, sun dried tomatoes and asparagus. The gorgonzola cream sauce really made the dish perfect. I finished the evening with the Torta Di Limone, which was a smooth tasting lemon cheesecake. i would definitely recommend going to Piatti if your visiting La Jolla. Go a little early because finding a parking space takes a couple minutes.

They have a wonderful set up in the street for outdoor dining. Even though outdoors the service was spectacular, the food was hot and spot on! We all enjoyed different dinners and everyone raved about each meal. Don't miss the mushroom crustini appetizer! MMMMMM We had a variety of desserts too and they were great if you have room

I've arranged our New Years Eve dinner for 9:15 at Piatti through Open Table. We had high expectations and although I'd prefer an earlier slot we decided to go for the available one even though it was late. When we arrived there at 9:00 pm restaurant was at dark completely with a note that it was closed because of Covid. I totally understand that under the circumstances but what I don't understand why we were not informed in advance. I've received a message only a day before that we would be charged if we don't show up on time. In conclusion, our New Years Eve was ruined. We could not find anywhere else to eat that night since it was already too late and most of the restaurants kitchens were closed. The ones we could find were not the good ones at all. Very disappointed, very frustrated.

Recommended by a friend. Italian food served was above average. Sat at a great garden table with nice ambience. Handmade pasta featured was great. Polenta appetizer with blue cheese and tomato sauce was great. We had a pizza and a pasta dish. Ice cream desert was good. Service was below average. We were still eating our appetizer when the bread was served with the dinner plates. We were rushed through the meal. Server knew the dishes well. We were told that the service and table was limited to 90 minutes, but the Drinks and appetizer were not served until 30 minutes. Meal was offered at 40 minutes. I couldn’t enjoy the great food with the proper time to taste the food and talk at dinner. This was our first time here. I would return for the food but not with a service time limit.

Piatti is a lovely establishment located in La Jolla village and very popular. Why? The food is exceptional, reasonably priced, well presented with ample portions and some unusual dishes. For our first course we had saffron risotto balls, which were delightful. My main course was a wild mushroom rotolo, that is similar to a lasagna roll-up, and was so rich and yummy I couldn't finish it. We also ordered the cannelloni dish that was made with braised short ribs, also really tasty. The service was spot on and our dining neighbors were friendly, chatting us up. I notice that when the patrons are enjoying the food and ambiance everyone becomes more engaging. Great food equals happy people. Reservations strongly recommended.

We dined here for the first time and upon entering the restaurant to give them our name for our reservation, I was very surprised at how loud and noisy it was. Immediately, my thought was that I do not want to eat here. There was nothing great about the atmosphere. Our reservation was for outside seating on the patio and I was so glad that it was! It was entirely a different vibe outside which may have earned this restaurant it’s name. There is this beautiful old tree right in the middle of all of the tables. The lighting is perfect and they have outside heaters that will keep you nice and cozy. They will first bring you out some fresh bakery bread with the olive oil/balsamic dip with herbs that was delicious! The food was very good and their Caesar Salad was perfectly dressed. My review may not have been so generous if I had to dine inside.

If you are looking for a small pizza for $26, or one scoop of ice cream for $10, this is your restaurant. Salmon is $46, compared with $47 at Eddy V, a more upmarket restaurant. This used to be a very good value restaurant but it has lost its way. 4

We made last-minute reservations at Piatti and even though the restaurant was seemingly always full, we were seated rapidly and taken care of nicely. The menu has a full variety of Italian dishes and each member of our party of 8 was very satisfied with the entrée that s/he chose. All of the sauces (alfredo, marinara, meat, etc.) were well-received and the pastas themselves were prepared to everyone's liking. One minor nit: our server was aggressively trying to push us into ordering the higher-priced wine selections, but we were very pleased with the mid-range offerings. Definitely worth a return visit in the future.

Have had great Italian food in multiple cities and this one just didn’t cut it to want to put it on my todo list when I go back.

Yummy pizza, even better short- rib cannelloni, eggplant homemade ravioli. We are in heaven! The garlic is a must on any pizza!

We had dinner there and the truth is good, not spectacular but good. What is very worth it are the pizzas, those if they were wonderful, the rest very rich but not spectacular. the good service

Reserved on Open Table we were greeted and promptly seated. Place was already full at 6:15. This is a very noisy restaurant. Hearing impaired probably won’t care for. Wonderful service by our waiter. I had the Ravioli and they offer 2 sauces including a cream and red. Raviolis are quite large and I had 3 with one sauce and the other 3 with other sauce. I am still thinking of this meal one day later. It was fantastic. My husband ordered a special comprised of spaghetti with salmon, spinach, olives and capers. The salmon pieces were somewhat dry however. I had to agree. Prosecco brand they offer is quite good. Split a nice gelato for dessert. We would go back but 4 rating due to salmon and NOISE,

Ate here last night with another couple. The food was amazing! My husband had a shrimp pasta dish, I had a margarita pizza and the other couple had a specialty pizza. My husband had an old-fashioned and said it was the best he’s had in a long time. We had the best male waiter. I can’t remember his name. Hispanic guy. Esse or something. He was great! 100% recommend eating here.

I recently attended a business dinner for about 20 people at Piatti. The waitress who served us was excellent and had no difficulty with keeping that many people satisfied. I had the Saffron Pappardelle - a pasta dish with shrimp. The food was excellent. Everyone sitting near me was impressed. I would gladly return.

A very good Italian in La Jolla. Great staff and very good food. We celebrated our sons graduation here last night and the whole arrangement from the restaurant was great. We sat outside under the big tree and it was indeed an evening to remember. Needs booking well in advance. Hard to park outside or nearby so take an Uber and leave the car home

Had a quick bite to eat here before our kayak tour. The portions were large so I appreciated that they let us do a split plate between my daughter and I. The bread is absolutely delicious! Wait staff were kind and attentive. Would definitely return!

We can highly recommend the Caesar salad, warm olives, grilled eggplant with goat cheese. The Margherita pizza, the Orecchiette with Chicken dinner, the Lasagna and the grilled Salmon with lemon aïoli did not disappoint. The place was very busy, but the waitstaff kept up with everyone's wishes. The heat lamps were a much appreciated source of warmth.

In town visiting family and went here based on their recommendation. We arrived early so sat in the bar and the service was excellent. They managed to take great care of us despite the large number of to go orders that were waiting and being picked up (to go orders are picked up at the bar). Clearly many regulars that order food to be picked up based on the interaction of the bartenders and customers picking up orders. When we were seated, we didn't order an appetizer, instead we enjoyed the bread with the excellent olive oil on our table. The best olive oil and spice combination we have ever had - EXCELLENT! For dinner, one person ordered the margarita pizza which was a fairly large size and very flavorful. Two ordered the Lemon Herb half Jidori chicken and said it was well seasoned and the mashed potatoes and spinach topped it off! Another had the meatloaf which was a large portion and very filling. My husband had the veal special of the day and was very happy with it. Large portion and excelelnt flavors. I had the house made spinach-ricotta ravioli and the waitress suggested half with the lemon sauce and half with the tomato sauce and I'm so glad I did! Both were excellent and the spinach ricotta was SO smooth! Despite the filling meal, some of the deserts were way too tempting to pass up so we had the vanilla gelato and Budino Di Mela. No matter how full you are, you HAVE to get the Budino Di Mela!! I can completely understand why the locals have this as their "go to" for take out. Anything elsse would be a disappointment! Can't wait to go back! My only comment would be that our waitress seemed a little put out that we weren't ready to order our meals right away when we sat down, but we were visiting and enjoying our time together. When we asked for a few more minutes she simply turned and walked away rather than saying "I'll check back in a few minutes" or something along those lines. The service in the bar was 5 stars but because of this, we only gave the dining service 4.

We ate there 3x during the 5 days we were in La Jolla - that should say it all. Service was good. Atmosphere lovely.

Great restaurant. Order the meat loaf. It was simply delicious. Would recommend and we will go back for sure. December 2019

Celebrating with family, we had dinner here as it was convenient. The lasagna was ok but sweet. My wife had pasta & again, her sauce a bit sweet. Good service. If we lived here, we wouldn't be regulars.

The service was very slow, took 20 minutes after we were seated before our waiter came to our table. One of the salads we ordered was with chicken which was burned and over cooked. The cannelloni (which was recommended) by the waiter was tasteless. On top of all this they add a 4% surcharge onto the bill, and charge $5.00 if you want bread! I would not recommend this place unless you just want to eat second rate dog food.

Piatti never disappoints and the price is fair.it's noisy and fast-paced so if you have young kids or want it quiet this is not the place for you on a Saturday night. The shrimp pappardelle and the ravioli are excellent. The bread and the oil no words. They are heaven.they have a standard menu that has stood the test of time. They have a great wine selection. All around this is a fantastic place to eat.

This is one of those places where you want to stay longer... have a wonderful meal, good wine or drinks, good company and great conversation.

at this restaurant from a friend of mine who used to go there a lot and really liked it, I finally had my chance to have dinner there. There were two pasta dishes that interested me, the cavatappi (sp?) And orecchiette (sp?). I went with the former. I was not able to eat it because it was too spicy. I was told it was because of the Chili Peppers. That was disappointing. My friend was willing to exchange dishes with me and he had ordered the cavatappi. It was mediocre at best. Even my friend admitted that since he used to go to this restaurant in the 90s, Italian food has improved in San Diego.

We made this our first dinner in San Diego. Great choice. Lovely sitting outdoors. A great menu that pleased everyone. Wine list was impressive. All of our dinners were delicious. I can recommend the lasagna. The only downside was the roasted Brussels sprouts which we couldn’t eat. Otherwise, everyone really enjoyed their entrees, from a very diverse menu.

By far one of my favorite restaurants anywhere!!! The lamb enter is to die for. I have it every time I go!

I’ve been here a couple times and I’ve loved every single experience that I’ve had at this lovely, elegant restaurant. My last outing though which was this Friday night had to be one of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time. I just would like to say shoutout to Amanda and I believe he was a busser Juan. They made my experience just so much more welcoming from the time I sat into the table. Amanda was so knowledgeable of the menu and what would be perfect to go with the entrees I was eating. For example I had the pizza that had goat cheese pesto and tomatoes and added avocado and grilled chicken. She recommended having a side of Cesar dressing For it would go together well and by far it was amazing. Not only was the food spectacular, the lovely hospitality just made it so much more amazing. Juan just knew exactly what we needed at the right time such as refilling our waters, giving us more bread and dressing and it just made me and my dates night. Being in the hospitality industry these are two people who are gems and will make you feel amazing. I bet the whole staff feels the same. I will be returning and I can not wait. Thank you again Amanda and Juan for going above and beyond for me. - Benjamin Garcia

We turned up after a 6mile beach walk to get here. Excellent service. Good wine list by bottle and glass. Good muscles & we all went the seafood linguine which was excellent. Deserts also very good so leave space.

A small restaurant in La Jolla. A total delight. The atmosphere was pleasant, we had lobster ravioli and lasagna. We were not disappointed.
Yummy
A great spot for brunch that’s a short walk from the beach. Patio dining is lovely. Service is great.
