DELIGHTFUL

By GFFoodWineLover |

We had dinner twice in one week during a visit to Seattle. The food was delicious both times. The cocktails and wine were very good too. They had a gluten free menu which is always very helpful. I had the special risotto with crab which was excellent. My HH had the Butcher’s Meatballs which he enjoyed. On our 2nd visit we shared their Gem Lettuce salad with Caesar dressing. We both had the Duck Bolognese as our entrée which was wonderful, especially since I could get Gluten Free pasta. The Chocolate Mousse Pie and Ricotta Doughnut Holes were yummy endings. Our server Gavin (on our 2nd visit) was generous with his time and make our night so enjoyable. What a relaxing and fabulous dinner.

Favoloso!

By David B |

First rate excellence all around at Piatti. During our recent visit our server was better than terrific. Very nice wine selections by the glass or bottle. You may have guessed this is an Italian restaurant. Wonderful daily specials and lots of vegetarian and gluten free menu offerings. We were 4 guests on our visit. Appetizer was Bruschetta: roasted butternut squash, goat cheese, walnuts with sage and the combination was delicious. My friends ordered several seafood dishes and they raved about every wonderful bite. The muscles were exceptionally fresh and tender. I had the meatballs with strozzapreti noodles, tomato sugo, garlic confit, basil. They were especially tender and flavorful. This is a very popular and busy restaurant so book a table by phone or web if you're going here at peak or holiday times. First, pay no attention to reviews written before May 2015 as Piatti underwent renovations at that time.

Nice alternative to Din Tai Fung - I know, it’s Italian

By gosaka |

My daughter, her boyfriend and I hoped to score a table at DTF but learned that we had a 90 minute wait. Piatti was nearby with no wait so we opted for it. Piatti has a very nice space, reasonable menu and great servers. We had overall a solid experience. The server who poured my wine spilled a bit and quickly cleaned up and offered more. Our waitress was very helpful, friendly without being overwhelming. I had the squid ink pasta which was delicious. Pizza was great.

Great meal on half priced wine night

Good meal, great service and affordable wine. Great end to two weeks in PNW. Raviolis cooked perfectly. Nice dessert menu. Not fussy, not over the top but good meal for reasonable price.

Average food...high prices!

We went here for a nice dinner out for Mother's day. They put us back next to several large tables which wasn't a good choice for a table of 5. Our wait person provided very poor service. He seemed overwhelmed and so the service was spotty. The food is very expensive for what you get. Then you need to also pay $3 just for bread so it adds up quickly. We didn't even get dessert and I think that we had only two alcoholic drinks total, no appetizers and we walked out with a $200 bill for 5 people. One of our party ordered the porkchop with the rhubarb compote but the compote wasn't really integrated with the porkchop, it must have been just placed on at the end so the flavors didn't really meld but each part on its own was good. One of our party ordered the puttanesca but said she had a seafood allergy but anchovies were fine. You could not taste anchovies or the olives in the sauce. In fact, it appeared to be only tomatoes? It was an expensive dish for some noodles and tomato sauce. Perhaps the waiter didn't relay that there was a base of shellfish in the sauce so many items had to be left out...? Really not sure but he had described it as having a salty taste and it didn't. We also ordered the pasta with the duck Bolognese but it was an oily sauce. In general, we use to like this restaurant but hadn't been in a long time. It's too expensive for mediocre food and service. We'll cross if off our list.

Celebrating NCAA record

Had a reservation for 9 people after the UW Women's basketball game where Kelsey Plum made history. Our group came in at various times after 4:30 reservation. Server was Jeffrey and he did a superb job by splitting the checks up for our group and by making us not feel rushed to leave as the restaurant completely filled up later. We have all eaten here before and I believe all enjoyed their meals. It has a nice atmosphere and I am bothering to review it mainly because I was impressed by service.

Wonderful Italian in University Village

By MacAtlantaGa_ |

Located in the beautiful University Village Mall, Piatti features rustic Italian food in welcoming comfortable atmosphere. I was in town on business, and my colleague, a local, suggested we meet there. It was delightful in every way. The menu is rustic, but upscale with some very inventive offerings. The Pear Crostini appetizer was done perfectly. Being in Seattle, I had to have the King Salmon, and it was as good as I any I have in Seattle. There are five different Pizza offerings, and almost all of the pasta dishes can be ordered in full or smaller portions. The wine list has a wide range for all tastes and prices. And after dinner, take a walk around the mall and see the Apple Store facing off with the Microsoft store!

Fabulous Restraunt

By cannonbeach3137 |

My Mom and I decided to go to the University Village to do some shopping. We decided to stop in to this place for lunch. It was full so we decided to sit in the bar. The Waiter was so friendly and nice and was very attentive to us . I had there special of the day which was a treso Spanish and carmilised onion risotto which was fabulous I really enjoyed it. My mom had there squash ravioli with brown butter , she shared some with me and it was also fabulous best meal I have had at a restraunt in a long time. I am also going to add that if you get a chance please try there taramsu coffee SO GOOD! Loved it, it is well worth the price. Next time I come to the University village I am going to go back to this place to have lunch. Fantastic Restraunt.

Wonderful Italian food

By MikeC |

Last time before this date was about 6 years ago, and the first time here maybe 15 years ago. Have to say this latest foray was, at least in memory, a delicious treat. We split the best manicotti since eating a lot of it in NYC in the 60s and 70s. Followed by a delicious spaghetti with a half dozen wonderful meatballs. Covered with freshly ground pamesan, this meal of what I wanted - basic and very good Italian food - was perfect. The food was flat out good. A nice Orvieto Soave Clasico was perfect, and we were so sated we almost did't have the gelato of caramel salted outrageously good desert. This creamy delight was just like we used to eat in Venice. Waitstaff better than average decor very nice, in a great spot near UW. Highly reccomended.

Nice atmosphere

By JohnBon0713 |

Italian food with a slight northwest flare. Very good food and competitively priced. The inside of the restaurant was unique and made you feel like you're in a different area. The outdoor seating was very nice.

Yum! Great Italian in U-Village.

By MT_Melody |

The atmosphere is great - especially outside with the blankets on a chilly evening. The bread basket comes with oil and vinegar for dipping and has great flavor. I ate at Piatti twice over a two week period. The first time I had the English Pea Ravioli which was so enjoyable. The second time, I had the penne with chicken, which the server said was the most popular on the menu. Love the atmosphere. Love the food.

Great Lunch | Outstanding Staff

By Dan C |

We had a business meeting in the U District, and stopped for lunch at Piatti’s. First off, the staff, from hostess to wait staff, to table bussers were outstanding. Lunch was delicious. We will definitely be back!

Makes you feel like home

By Pam B |

They recently have a new head chef so the menu has been revamped and updated. I liked most of it and I'm told it will change seasonally. Goat cheese ravoilli is to die for. Love sitting at the bar where the bartenders Erin or Spencer will remember not only your drink order from the last visit, but will remember what kind of food you like and make recommendations. Friends have remarked they are surprised when they are greeted by their first name after only one visit. Happy hour 1/2 price bottles of wine are a good value. They've also added some new wines. In short, I love this place

A pleasant surprise and new favorite

By gyw |

Completing a long, long day of travel and shopping, ending up in the University Village mall. Getting dark and looking for a good place to eat. See a crowded for Monday nite place compared to all the other eateries so we take a chance on the Italian menu. Surprise 1) they area participating in the Seattle food week. Surprise 2) the also offer small portions. The penne chicken was spiced just right and the pasta had a good texture. The homemade linguine was unbelievable but the fennel sausage kind of drowned out other flavor (like the clams and butter sauce). This small portion order was really quite filling! Last is the food week special. Each dish we ordered was very very good. Appetizer choice was mozarella and zuchini sliced thin with fresh tomato and capers. Then the salmon grilled to moist perfection with a backdrop of grapes and small potatores. Dessert lemon cake with peaches and whipped cream put us over the edge. This place is definitely on my list of places to revisit since getting good pasta is getting harder and harder find. Tone back the fennel sausage some and this dish would be a winner too. Service was friendly, helpful (Italian dish names and ingredients), and spot on to refill water, clear away dishes and then let us linger to enjoy the after meal coffee and conversation!

Be careful if planning to arrange a dinner for a large group. Know exactly how many people

By overthehill79 |

My wife and I dined there after the remodeling and found tables closer together making conversation as though one was sharing same with diners at the next table. The food was good, my wife’s a small Gnocchi ($13.95) and mine Manila Clams ($17.95). Our server was Jeronimo who did a OK job. A month later I joined a group for dinner in one of their two dining rooms. When arrangements were made, we had to guarantee a head count. A guarantee is not unusual and a common requirement by many restaurants in Seattle. For a variety of reasons we had 12 people not show up for dinner. At $58 a plate (meals off the menu, no special orders) our organization took the hit. Add to that an 18% gratuity charged even though 12 people weren’t served. My point is anyone making arrangements for a group dinner MUST have an accurate head count or pay the guarantee. That said, the service was excellent as was the meal. Plan with care. Rating buttons aren’t working so I rate Service 5, food 4, value 3

Great place for friends to meet for lunch

Wonderful gourmet pizzas. Great service. I eat there often. Lovely outdoor dining in the summer. Great mussels on the menu as well.

That's Amore!

By larrchar |

There is everything to like about this wonderful restaurant in the University Village. The atmosphere is charming and includes white tablecloths. Who does white table linens at lunch? This place is Italian/American with good food, good service and great value. Most entrees are offered in two sizes so patrons with smaller appetites are not overwhelmed with a huge dish of pasta. Our waiter filled our ice tea and water glasses numerous times and then even arrived with a glass full of ice cubes. Wonderful!

Meh

By Sam C |

We came here and were seated quickly but then sat for a long time without being given any water. We waited to order and realized during this time that the food would likely take a while. We still decided to order but ask for it to go since we had somewhere else to be. We waited, in the end, for 45 minutes for our take out order. The waitress said they were busy, but if you seated us, you should be able to handle a take out order as easily as a dine in order. When we finally were given our food, we saw the waitress coming, and she was about to give our to go order to another table before she realized. We got home and ate our food, and it was not good. Would not recommend.

Nice Date Night

By JBATrojan |

My wife and I dined at Piatti for our anniversary and it was just what we wanted. The service and decor were refined but comfortable, with engaging service that also let us focus on each other appropriately. I ordered the roasted chicken breast and my wife chose a seasonal risotto - both of us choosing glasses of red Italian wine and an appetizer, and were very pleased with the quality and quantity of our food. My wine was a bit closed throughout the duration of the meal, so if I had to be picky I'd ask for it to be decanted earlier next time, but that's a small point for me. We especially appreciated the gluten-free menu. My wife does not eat wheat or tomatoes and we were thrilled to find a restaurant that offered a variety of options that she could eat, without sacrificing quality in the process. We'll be back!

Well executed food and ambience

By BZHogan |

The food here is very, very tasty and will only be better if you pair with a nice glass of wine. The ambience was dim and had a comfortable low-level of noise. My wife and I were both very impressed by the quality of the dishes.

Amazing Appetizer

By WonderingNut |

Service was quick and the servers were friendly. I started my meal with an appetizer the eggplant parmesan fries, which was amazing. I’d gladly would’ve ordered double had they known they were that good. My entrée was the lemon ricotta ravioli, it was pretty good.

Missed our expectations

By Novaart |

We had been to the old Piatti's in U Village more than a couple dozen times and had never been disappointed. We were anticipating the opening of the newly remodeled Piattis and were waiting for the perfect opportunity to try it. We were really looking forward to celebrating two birthdays there today, however, we were all disappointed. Our reservations were at 11:45, early enough to beat the mainstream lunch traffic on a typical Saturday afternoon. We were seated promptly, our drinks arrived (coffee and iced tea)...and then we waited. The complimentary bread and dipping sauce arrived about 20 minutes later, when we put in our orders. The service was painfully slow, and dishes were never removed from our table. We began stacking them on the windowsill to provide room for our entrees, and dessert. I had ordered the penne pasta, which was so spicy it had to be sent back. My mother's fennel pizza was delivered and was cold, certainly not the expectations we were accustomed to with the old Piatti's. The service was painfully slow-just our table, we noticed, as others around us were dining and leaving. Our bill, which was to be split between two parties, was not accurate and the manager soon appeared. He was gracious and wanted to comp our meals, but half of our party, wanted to pay their share. It was one of the slowest meals we have had in a very long time,as we began our lunch at 11:45 and finally departed at 2:15.

Bring your own soup spoon.

By Terry H |

Three of us ate at Piatti for lunch. Among the orders were soup and pasta. After serving our food, the waiter had to be tracked down to be asked for a soup spoon (to twirl the pasta and sip the soup) - he gave us two teaspoons. Now I ask you - have you ever tried to either twirl or sip from a teaspoon while tackling slippery pasta and very hot soup? When we finally tracked him down again, he said there were no soup spoons in the restaurant. Now I ask you - have you ever heard of this? While we laughed at the time, we won't be returning in the future.

Good Italian!

By TaraFenwick |

Warm atmosphere for a special lunch! Enjoy this sweet spot for a great ceasar salad and steaming bowl of pasta and then spend time browsing the many unique U village shops!

Great place to meet friends

By fussyyetcheap |

We had a reunion of sorts here last week and it was a great place to do something like that. Service was helpful and prompt, and they tried really hard to accommodate dietary concerns like dairy and gluten. Salads and gnocchi we're both quite good. Lower end but serviceable wine list.

Nice Birthday Experience

By KLK264 |

The menu given us said Happy Birthday on it and the free dessert was a very interesting tomato sorbet with balsamic vinegar topped with a sparkler. Amazing good. Italian food and salads are good. The environment is relaxed and pleasant. I love sitting in the fireplace room. We had a great waiter who made the experience special.

Nice spot for a stop at University Village

By AnutterTraveler |

This restaurant seemed to be better. Not sure what happened, but it advertises itself as an italian restaurant and seems to be distancing itself more and more from true Italian. The pasta dishes are still very good and the reason I would go again. However there are some free interpretations of italian cooking that do not work so well. Take for example the "Basket of warm house made Foccacia bread". Italian Foccacia is not thick or doughy. It is crunchy, the dough is pretty dry, has resistance and when dipped in Balsamic acetto does not melt. The Foccacia offered here feels like a savory corn bread. It has no texture and tastes like pie. When you put it in the balsamic vinegar oil mix they bring you it just melts. So, bottom line: Good food, not italian, a bit pricey but then again it is University Village.

Relatively expensive but light on quality and quantity.

By John E |

Our granddaughter decided to have her birthday celebration here because it was close to where she lives in the University District. We got there a little early and decided to have a drink. I got a glass of Manny's Ale and she got a glass of wine. The beer was only about 8 ounces and the wine was 6+ ounces. The price for the beer was $5.50 and the wine was $6.50, not bad prices but the quantity was way short of other places we go. Normally and beer for that price is about 16 ounces and the wine is usually 8 ounces. We split a small pepperoni Pizza for dinner which was very light on the Cheese and Tomatoes , not bad on the Pepperoni but the crust was very thin and a little soggy. They did come around with a Parmesan grinder but it may as well have been a pepper shaker. Of course we generally get our Pizza from Papa Murphy's where the quality, quantity, and price can't be beat.

Unfortunately not quite the same since the remodel!

By Krisinseattle |

We have eaten at Piatti many times over the years and I eagerly awaited their reopening after the remodel. Unfortunately not only has the interior of the restaurant changed, so too has the menu and the caliber of the food prepared. To begin the oil & vinegar is still presented with the bread, but lacks the peppers and spices it once had. The chop chop salad has changed, the lettuce tasted old and the addition of currents was a strange mix to the salad. Adding sausage to clams was interesting but made it so the sausage was all that could be tasted. The service, however, was very good. The new atmosphere is not as "cozy" as it used to be but appears to use the existing space a little better. Will try again but hopeful for better food!

First Class Italian Cuisine

By MGB999 |

Piatti in University Village is wonderful. A great setting and absolutely some of the best italian food. The tomatoes on the Caprese salad were fresh heirloom and melted in your mouth. The lamb ragu was outstanding as well as the gnocchi. (I helped my wife finish hers - big portions).

New decor, very uptown

By Sandy N |

The restaurant was closed for a few months while they totally refurbished the inside. Now it has a very contemporary and modern look. It's light and open. Not what you would expect in a shopping mall, which actually, doesn't accurately describe University Village anyway. The food and service are still great and I don't think you can go wrong there.

Understand why it was not busy on a Saturday night

By travelador |

We were a group of 6 and found this University Village restaurant on a Saturday evening. We were very happy to be seated quickly and liked the look and feel of the place. Unfortunately, service was very slow - we didn't see the waiter for 20 minutes after sitting down, food took forever - and the food was average, my gnocchi were good individually but were bathing in an oily sauce which meant I had to soak them before eating. My friend's pasta had a similar sauce problem and others shared a so-so pizza without much tomato sauce. Not finding a reason to return.

TASTY ITALIAN FARE

By adeledupre |

The menu does have different pasta dishes such as spicy lamb ragu with parpadelle.Complimentary bread and balsamic olive oil are served with your meals.

Very good!

By leawatkins |

This is fresh, authentic Italian food. The U Village has lots of dining options but Piatti is a favorite. My diet is currently very limited but the chef was willing to cater to my restrictions. Service is excellent, food great, location great. . . it was a wonderful dining experience.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

By Kimmie M |

Holy cow !!!!! I’ve been here before and after the remodel , 1st now Seattle charges for bread 🥖 like a lot pass, their bread in not worth the $3 for the little amount they charge you for , 2nd risotto $27 for a lunch item are you out of your mind, I guess when I saw MP (market price) I should have asked . There are to many better restaurants in the area . Skip this joint and go to Elements . Pizza , pasta , salad and cold beer for way less than this place.

An Ideal Place for Late Lunch

By Mary B |

Sometimes, one can really tell a LOT about a restaurant by what happens during it's slow times. I have been to Piatti at least a handful of times over the years, but I'm pretty sure this is the first time I checked it out at 3:00 on a Thursday! I went in with a dream that this upscale bistro located in U-Village had added a gluten-free gnocchi to their menu. Alas, such was NOT the case, but my best guy and I enjoyed exceptional service and delicious food nonetheless. He passed on the simply delicious Parsnip Soup ("not a big fan of parsnips"), then after tasting MINE made it a point to swing by the kitchen to compliment the chef on his "Incredible" soup! The calamari done up gluten-free (sauteed) was delicious; my guy enjoyed the pork sampler and marveled at the pate, in particular. Having a gluten-free menu is terrific; unfortunately the gf sandwich roll was a dry disappointment, comprimising the perfectly cooked salmon (which was then sauced with something a bit TOO citrus-y) That was the one dish that bumped this rating down a star, but overall it was delicious fare, lingered over on a cold and cloudy afternoon. We'll be back!

More like 3.5 stars

By vonburkleo |

If I could give 3.5 stars I would. I've been here twice and had pretty similar experiences both times. On the plus side: The mixed drinks are KILLER...$8 full price, so happy hour may be something to try. Also, they have 1/2 price wine by the bottle on Mondays with a good selection. The service is very friendly and attentive. The bread with oil and vinegar and roasted garlic is probably one of the most dangerously delicious indulgences possible. Deserts are good - try the Tartufo, a Chocolate-Brandy Truffle Cake with Espresso Crema & Whipped Cream, Served Warm. Yum! On the "needs improvement" side: The butternut squash soup needed some more seasoning (adding some ground pepper and salt helped, but it should have come out that way. The spinach salad needed more flavor "punch" (there was no taste of vinaigrette in the dressing....and/or adding gorgonzola would have made it much better). The entree, chicken marsala was very tasty (sauce was great, mashed potatos were delicious)....but what's up with the stingy portions? The smallest chicken breast ever and exactly "8" baby green beans. C'mon guys....$20? Really? The atmosphere is a bit noisy and active....not in an unpleaseant way....but if you want an intimate dinner try elsewhere. I will go back, but I can't justify 4 stars when the food is what's lacking.

Good place to meet friends in University Village

By seattlefoodlover2016 |

Good food; especially the fig pizza - one of the best I have ever had; also, gazpacho soup was delicious. Loved the anchovy on the caesar salad.

Not worth the price

By cwvw79 |

The menu was varied with some unusual selections, such as the octopus. We ordered it and it was succulent, very tender and well prepared. The linguine with shrimp had a wonderful olive oil and garlic sauce that was delicious. The mushroom pizza was a disappointment. It was supposed to some with 4 different types of mushrooms but they all looked and tasted the same. I'm giving this an average rating because the server was terrible, she didn't introduce herself and she acted like she was bothered to serve us. We spent nearly $100 without any drinks. I think they are trying to be something special, but they missed the mark for me.

More a cafeteria than an inviting place to dine

By Francophile4330 |

Whoever decided to remodel Piatti in the University Village should be looking for another job. The "new" restaurant is uninviting, sterile, more like a cafeteria and, if one is looking for a pleasant dining experience, should be avoided at all costs. Piatti of old was comfortable, somewhat intimate, a pleasant place to have lunch, dinner or a drink at the bar. The new space is a disaster. Prices have gone up, portions have gone down and the menu is as uninspired as the sterile, overcrowded with too many tables dining room. Waitstaff is good - no complaints - but McDonald's has a more inviting atmosphere than this place. Having frequented Patti many times prior to this remodel, I always looked forward to the experience. No more.

FEELS EUROPEAN

By John G |

We had an early dinner because the night before it was to busy to get in. Good wine selections and of course good Italian food including pasta dishes. The majority of people in the evening are couples and 2 couples.

Worth the free parking to eat well.

By geraldhover |

Being located in the University Village is good and bad until you get your bearings. However it is worth the small effort to dine at Piatti. The high ceiling is reminiscent of Florentine decor. It has a great visual appeal and sets you in the mood for a very good Italian meal. It doesn't fail to deliver. Soups, salads, entrees . Reasonably affordable, good value and attentive service. We will be returning

Good, solid option for family and large groups

By Mitch_K2012 |

We have dined in this location several times and always enjoyed the meal. Nice atmosphere, coupled with a straight forward Italian menu gives everyone an option. Last night we started with the "Butcher Block" appetizer of charcuterie. Intended to share with the table, the portions were a bit small for four adults. For our main course, we enjoyed Bucatini (pasta with poached egg, pancetta) and Semolina dumplings. Each was well presented and tasty, but not "out of this world". Four adults, two bottles of wine, four entrees and one appetizer = $200. So a bit pricey but still feels like a good value.

Very good entres

By K5181EObills |

We had two pasta dishes and two pizzas. Our food was all excellent. Our wine, a Syrah was also very good. Some dishes descriptions did not sound traditional Italian. The Pistachio gellato was good, but the Tiramassou was just OK. I can't recommend the Tiramassou.

Great lunch with the family

By melliz818 |

Delicious food and warm atmosphere. We didn't feel rushed and enjoyed a lovely lunch after shopping nearby. Would definitely eat here again.

Great food and Great Atmosphere.

By TeriKwi |

We took our daughter and her roommates to Piatti’s during a recent visit to Seattle. I loved the round table for our party of 7, it allowed for great conversation. The food menu offered great options and the food was delicious. The service was a little slow, but it was prime time on a Friday night during a worker shortage. We will definitely return!!!!!

Nice restaurant located in a popular oopen air mall

Piatti is a long time favorite in University Village. They serve very good local meals. It is usually quiet, making it a place to meet friends who want to visit together easily.

A Very Nice Italian Lunch

By TheExplorerFamily |

We stopped here for lunch while on a tour of the city. We noticed this place as we were walking by, (mainly because of the Red Fiat parked outside), and decided to try it out, since we love Italian fare. The outdoor patio looked inviting, but we chose the air-conditioned indoors. The dining room was huge, but surprisingly empty save for two other tables occupied by a family. We were seated quickly and given a Menu that had quite an extensive selection. We were looking for a light meal, so we settled on the Sicilian Fried Chicken Panino with Mixed Greens to share between the two of us. Each of us had our own Arancia Ginger Soda to drink. The food was delicious, and the portions were just perfect for the two of us – since we did not want to be too stuffed in the middle of the day. Our server Anthony M. was very friendly, pleasant, polite and efficient. We have no hesitation in recommending this place to future diners.

Great Food perfect for lunch

By Ghostrider5408 |

I usually dine here for lunch mainly business related and have never been let down on quality and dish offerings which is only matched by the great wait staff here Highly recommend for lunch

Another fabulous meal

By cannonbeach3137 |

My mom and I love this restaurant, this is second time we have been here for lunch. We sat in the bar again and once again had another fabulous meal. The taramsu coffee was once again outstanding , it is my favorite drink here. I loved your grilled vegetable sandwich it was excellent with there ceaser salad also very good. My mom really loved your chopped salad she thought it was exallent. The olive oil cake was also excellent. Our waiter Bruce was wonderful my mom and I really enjoyed talking to him he was very helpful with helping my mom choose the perfect wine to go with her salad and even suggested the olive oil cake for dessert which we had and it was fabulous. My mom and I will continue to home back to your restaurant as it has now become one of our favorite places to eat, and are looking forward to coming here again the next time we are in town.

Bright and Cheery

By Mahoo95 |

Party of 12 gathered for dinner on a Friday evening. The restaurant was busy as you might expect. Our service was generally prompt. There seemed to be a bit of a delay the time we received menus until our orders were taken. The recommendation for wine was well received...tasty wine. Wait staff was friendly and very good to give us 4 checks for our large party. The menu is 'Italian inspired' as clearly stated on their web page. Being a traditionalist, I was a bit hesitant, but this was a group dinner so 'go with the flow'. My pasta meal (bucatini) was tasty...robust and flavorful sauce which is my preference. I generally favor the more classical recipes, but my meal was good. Others in the party had other pasta dishes and pizzas as well as soups and salads. All members seemed to enjoy their meals.

Good Dinner

By jcwillis1 |

We had a Friday night dinner. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. The service was very good. The wine list was good with nice selections of Washington wine. We shared the Arancini, which was an excellent appetizer. I had the baked Manicoti, which was very tasty, My wife had a Ravioli dish off of the specials. She was disappointed as the oils it was cooked in overpowered the dish, Overall, A nice meal in a pleasant atmosphere with good friendly service. We would eat here again.

So delightful

By Sandy N |

We had a late lunch here and our food was superb. I had the spinach and cheese ravioli. Delicious. We were seated right next to the fireplace and it was so cozy on a rainy Seattle day. Our waitress was exceptional. It's always such a pleasure to eat here. A great find and not at all what you might expect in a mall type setting.

Great food and drink

By Babalish |

Menu provides a good value in a very pleasant atmosphere! Happy hour offerings are worth exploring, but make sure you're seated in the "bar" or happy hour is not available.

Delicious Food! Trendy Place

By Lynn Williams P |

Although it was a bit noisy at lunch, clearly this venue is very popular. And i can see why! The food was delicious. Especially, I would recommend the pasta dishes. I would also recommend sitting away from the front door as it was quite cool. Service was excellent and attentive. They were very conscientious about my food allergy. The bar area seemed to be quite popular.

Food decent - Service not decent

By TerrieF98199 |

It took FORever to get waited on. We arrived for brunch just before 11 am. Only 5 tables had people at them. There was a flurry of staff activity and not one of them was attending to the waiting patrons. All 5 tables sat with menus in front of them for not less than 10-15 minutes before someone stopped by to ask if you wanted a beverage, then another 10 minutes before they took the food order. It's unlikely I'll eat here again even though the food was decent.

Great food and excellent service for a group lunch

By DankPDX |

We hosted a lunch for 20 family members, following a memorial service in Seattle. In advance of the event, I worked with the event coordinator, Teresa, who did an outstanding job of providing information, responding to questions, and guiding us in setting up the lunch. During our lunch, the servers were attentive, polite and friendly - and also gave us enough space to have our own discussions and privacy. The private room was spacious but not cavernous. Overall the food was quite good - standard Italian fare, tasty and well-plated and presented. Would recommend them for a large business of personal lunch, for sure.

Very good food in the University Village

By larrchar |

Our family enjoyed a nice dinner before a graduation ceremony at Piatti. Friendly service and a good selection of Italian menu items pleased everyone. My risotto with prawns and asparagus was wonderful. Several ordered pizza and others had the spaghetti and meatballs. A fresh salmon entree over polenta was quite small but looked good. The atmosphere is warm and pleasing. A very good choice for our family celebration!

Not great

By Mcott |

Best thing was the fritto misto, although the portion was quite small. The cioppino was a big disappointment. Instead of a liquid soup, which it is supposed to be, the seafood was in a thick tomato sauce, as though someone opened a can of tomato paste and added way too little water. Also, the calamari tubes were not fully cooked and were unchewable. Perhaps there was something better on the menu, but someone there has no idea what cioppino is supposed to be.

Local surprise.

By Cirenrets |

Not being from this part of town, I went on a business dinner with low expectations...an admittedly unfair downtown bias. What a nice surprise to find an excellent quality Italian restaurant at a local, albeit upscale, outdoor mall. Full bar, fun specialty cocktails, timely and attentive service, well prepared food, white table cloth, etc. Not a pretender. Minimal downside; acoustics not optimal, faux rustic. Probably best not to sit in high traffic areas or too near the kitchen. Outdoor patio could be nice on a warm sunny day.

Excellent Italian food

By hernse1 |

The server was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. I had the gluten free pasta and it was really good. My husband raved about the lasagna, while my daughter really enjoyed the gnocchi. There were some very nice cocktails and great wine selection. The restaurant had a nice vibe and great decor. I will definitely go there again.

Average chain level food

By Glenn O |

Nothing horrible but not anything exceptional. It does have a variety of salads where you can add a protein. Pasta is okay with an unremarkably flavored sauce.

Piatti is remodeling!

By larrchar |

The fabulous Piatti in the University Village closed for remodeling on April 3 and Will reopen this Summer. Meanwhile, we can await the delicious Italian food and pleasant atmosphere that brings back the faithful clientele over and over. The pasta is perfect at Piatti! I enjoyed several dinners here and found the service To be friendly and prompt. At lunch, they do nice salads! I look forward to a late summer lunch on their patio.

Spendy! But good

By grizgirl89 |

Marshall was a fabulous waiter! Appetizer was caprese which was tasty with heirloom tomatoes but spendy. You have to pay extra for balsamic. can't remember the name of my main course which was pasta and the special of the day. had pancetta, tomatoes and a spicy kick. the flourless chocolate cake was fantastic and beautifully presented. house cab was delish with a full berry finish. nice outdoor patio to enjoy. Overall nice place to eat but you can't be on a budget to enjoy their meals. I think it is a bit overpriced for certain.

Classy spot for an important lunch

By cacadian |

My first visit to Piatti. I was taken with the stylish setting - high ceilings, handsome fixtures and flattering color scheme. I was equally pleased with our lunch. A nicely presented pate to begin followed by an enjoyable serving of goat cheese ravioli. The deserts were nice but a little more ordinary than the main courses. The service from our waitress was attentive.

Nice happy hour

This is a very nice Italian styled restaurant with an interesting menu, nice decor and very good service. The happy hour is definitely worth trying.

Modern Italian style restaurant in the village. Great light menu and sandwiches as well as good service.

One of our favorites and reliable

By Caron M |

We go here regularly for family celebrations. It is family friendly, good service, and good menu. We've ordered many different food items and always been happy. They are so nice to our grandson which is a big draw.

Nice Atmosphere, better food

By William Bim L |

Although this place may not look like a lot from the outside, the inside is well worth it. Very good specials with quite a variety of beverages. Servers are very knowledgeable and polite. The regular menu is varied for several tastes and pricing is what you would expect for the area. I suggest you give it a try.

Good, steady and efficient!

By Betsy S |

We had lunch there yesterday and the food was good and waiter was great. They did have trouble with the air conditioning being on and it was cold next to the fireplace. We had to snuggle up in our down coats. But, I always like going there. Food is consistent. We can also get separate checks when six women go out to dinner. It makes life easy.

A Great Place for Lunch

By Joe F |

We had lunch at Piatti on a Friday afternoon when the rest of University Village was beyond busy. We sat in the bar, a very relaxing place to enjoy lunch. Contrary to a posting I saw on TA, the service was excellent as was the food and libations we enjoyed. All in all, we would return to Piatti for lunch once again given the occasion for doing so.

Nice Italian standby

By Steve M |

The food (and pizza) are very tasty here, not the best Ive had, but good enough to come back for when I am in the University Village area. I have never had a poor meal here and it's been consistent for many years,

Great Food and Wine

By Poonam S |

We love this place and make it a point to visit it at least once a month. Being a vegetarian, this is a perfect place for us as they serve great pasta, ravioli and pizza. The vine selection is wonderful to compliment the food. They have great selection from Washington which is rare to find in a large restaurant. The menu keeps changing owing to the seasonality of the ingredients and this is a welcome change whenever we visit. The only con side is - the selection of cocktails and mocktails is not that great. The staff also changes regularly so sometimes they do not know the right ingredients in food or recommend the wine.

no service no food no water

By jpr21 |

All I can tell you is that we were seated quickly. Then we sat. And sat. And sat no more. We sat for >10 min without anyone recognizing our existence. Perhaps we discovered the cloak of invisibility. Finally, after never even getting a glass of water, we walked out.

They Served Our Grandchildren First

By SSMatriarch |

Which gave the adults at the table a chance to eat their meals hot because they got the kids all settled down and happily eating before being served. The gnocchi was wonderful. So was the wine.

Yummy!!!!

By Kristina E |

Really yummy Italian for a decent price. This place has THE BEST bread+olive oil mix thing that they serve in the beginning. Nice location, lots of parking.

My lovely server, Ariel, a sophisticated ambiance, and wonderful homemade pasta made for a delightful dining experience.

By LadykatherineSeattle |

I happened upon Piatti quite by accident when doing errands at University Village. But I was so impressed by their staff, in-house-made Italian food, and gorgeous decor, all white linens and nice wood-fired oven for pizzas etc, that I will be back on a regular basis. It is often awkward dining alone and my sweet server, Ariel, made fine suggestions and made me very comfortable. I'm happy to find a nice new Italian spot! Lady katherine.

A Revitalized Piatti

By Michael V |

Seattle's Piatti just reopened after a many month remodel. The old yellow tile is gone and in its place are sleek grays, blacks and dark wood tones. The menu and wine list are still in transition but have many holdovers from this neighborhood go-to. Another nice holdover is the Monday night half price bottle of wine special, which applies to all the selections on the list. Once seated you are soon brought water, focaccia and balsamic and olive oil. We each had a pasta; the butcher's meatballs and strozzopreti, and the penne with pancetta, spinach, garlic and red pepper. Both were very nice, and cooked to al dente as requested. The accompanying Barbera d' Asti nicely complimented both dishes. It is nice to have Piatti back in play and we look forward to seeing how the menu and wine list evolve.

Expensive and not worth it

By Wave R |

Mediocre food with high prices. Loud. Poor wine selection at high prices, too. Preparations are overly complicated and include so many ingredients, invariably including something distasteful for every palette. My friend likes going there for salads, but honestly, a visit to a Whole Foods salad bar gets you better offerings, making only the surly staff at Piatti.

nice lunch with a business colleague

By Tim B |

Ate today with an associate. He chose the place. The service was responsive but not intrusive and the waitress listened to our requests to go slowly and not rush the meal. The main was a nice spicy clam and pasta dish. Sam selected a local red which was enjoyable. I would return.

Great restaurant in U Village

By elliedrum |

We went here on a Monday for dinner. The food was excellent and on Monday's they have half off on bottles of wine up to $50. This is my favorite place to eat in U Village.

great lunch spot in U Village

By Pippiduck |

I have been dining at Piatti in the U Village for years -- it's one of my typical business lunch venues. It's an attractive restaurant, with indoor and outdoor seating. It's comfortable, relatively quiet, and serves reliable fresh food although not particularly adventurous. What's nice is that Piatti doesn't feel like a mall restaurant. The food is prepared from scratch and one can dine leisurely. The white bean kale soup is excellent; salads are not unusual but satisfying. The pasta dishes have always looked good; the panini are excellent. I have not dined at the restaurant for dinner recently and would have different expectations if I did. But for lunch, this certainly hits the spot.

Maybe it was because it...

By Chris L |

Maybe it was because it was an interview dinner, but their food was less than average considering their nice environment.

Remodeled and reopened

By Tom G |

We had been looking forward to the opening as we have had many fine meals at Piatti. The interior has been redone and lost all of its charm! The graceful arches , the bar filling the wall, the tile work, and even the linen table cloths were all gone. It has been replaced with a big flat space (we assume they can squeeze in more customers). The tables are now bare Formica It is a bit early to comment on the food and service I had a pasta dish with short ribs that was fine, my wife had a pasta dish that was OK. It is an all new menu. From what we could see, the prices overall seemed higher We will probably not go back. Mamma Melina's is very close with lots of ambience and great Italian food. We will miss the Piatti restaurant we had enjoyed for many years!

Good Atmosphere - Average Food

By NATHAN R |

This restaurant definitely looks and feels high end in nature, but the food falls far short of high end. I ordered the boar pasta dish and it was average at best. The noodles had the texture and taste of Top Ramen. The dish was lumpy and the pig was flavorless. I only ate half of the serving and could not force myself to eat another bite.

University Village Italian

By Michael |

Flavorful menu with a good range of small plates to large. Very good staff service and the bar has a good selection of drinks to compliment the meals. It was quieter for a bustling establishment, and we could conduct a healthy conversation.

Consistently good !

By Sandy N |

Piatti is a neighborhood restaurant located in the University Village. The food is consistently good as is the service. The bread is delicious, so be careful not to fill up on it ! I have been there many times over the years and always had a good experience. This time I had the Pancetta Panini and my sister had the Cobb salad. Considering they are a chain restaurant that locates in malls, they do a darn good job. It's lively and pleasant. The only downside might be that it's pretty noisy.

Good food but at a price

By kellyklk |

Good option for gluten-free waters who still want a decent Italian meal. Menu was limited but the options were varied and unique. The food was very good and the service was polite, willing to deviate from the menu without complaint. The atmosphere was trendy/modern with a hint of rustic European. A dinner for 4 with only 2 glasses of house wine was $187 with tip - pretty steep for a casual dining restaurant.

Good food but not brilliant

By Martha J |

This was one of my favorite restaurants to go to when I traveled for work. Warm and cozy, well lit. After a remodel the menu is a third of what it was and ambience chic yet cold. The corn ravioli was very good. But the waiter knew nothing about a house wine and seemed overly wired. My only food complaint, they had one dessert offering and no house salad. I don't think I will make an effort to return.

Great Lunch with Friends

By Sandro |

My wife and I had lunch at Piatti with some friends during Seattle Restaurant Week and really enjoyed our meal. It was a three-course meal with choices for each course. I had the soup, clams, and gelato. Very good. We compared dishes and were suitably impressed with the food, atmosphere and the service. University Village has undergone a serious facelift since the days of old. It's a hopping place these days. Parking can be an issue so you might want to allocate a little extra time to find a spot. There are plenty of shops in the area so a quick walk to work off your meal (and spend a little extra time with your dining party) is an option.

A good reliable spot

By hineconsult |

On a cold and rainy day it was a welcome and snug lunch at Piatti that warmed up our days. I really enjoyed the Chicken Pizza. The service was efficient and friendly. We appreciated the large windows which let in lots of natural light on that cold and dark day.

Surcharge now added to the bill.

By Sandy N |

Came here with 5 work colleagues for lunch. I had the mushroom campanelle, which was very good and came as a generous portion. I also had a glass of the house Chardonnay which was $16.00. Our waitress was very welcoming and professional. At the end I was surprised to see that Piatti is now following the add-on practices I have been reading about, adding a 5% "surcharge" to my tab. I can't say I was pleased to see that.

Good Food, Nice Ambiance, great service

By Francophile4330 |

Located in University Village near the University of Washington, Piatti's has a constantly changing and consistently delicious menu. Great Happy Hour, nicely decorated Italian themed decor, and good service. Excellent for lunch.

good Italian Food

This place was close to our hotel and if you like Italian, its a definite winner. We had a great meal and the price was very reasonable.

Neighborhood gem - great food

By SeattletoLondon |

Nice bistro feel at this Italian eatery located in the University Village Mall. Can be a little noisy early in the evening when families are there, but quiets down later in the evening with mostly couples. Very good interesting italian food with a good wine list.

Very good Italian menu....

Stopped before gymnastics meet at UWash. Party of eight served quickly and efficiently. Very well lit and not too noisy. Food was very good. Definitely recommend if visiting the University Village area. Can handle larger parties.

Great Food & Nice Atmosphere

By Tall66 |

We had eaten here before their remodel and thought it was very nice then but after the remodel the interior is really nice and open but amazingly quite and bright. The food was even better then our last visit. We had the crushed tomato Margherita Pizza which had a wonderful thin crust with fresh mozzarella, basil, evoo, sea salt. We also order the Pappardelle braised short ribs with gorgonzola which was truly amazing. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

Wonderful service, great food, very disorganized

By carlv888 |

My mistake? Coming back here for their wonderful food after an initial visit that blew my wife and I away. The basics: Food - 5 stars, Service - 5 stars, beverages - 4 stars, except... (more below), ambiance - 5 stars. For a chain restaurant, Piatti University Village really aims to impress with great, locally/wild sourced (according to what we heard the staff claim, not the menu) food and ambiance. This location was recently completely renovated and expanded and now includes private dining areas and three patios. On all our visits, the food was absolutely top notch (ok, the gnocchi was a bit too heavy for our liking), except for our most recent dining experience when the pizza my wife ordered came out burned - the prosciutto and most of the crust. Unfortunately for Piatti, they appeared to have recently hired an apparently Italian manager who didn't seem quite familiar with American customer service standards. He started a tirade with my wife about how she dared to challenge his kitchen's pizza preparation skills. We politely tried to explain that a burned crust is carcinogenic and distasteful, and that prosciutto should not come out with burned edges, but he wouldn't have any of it. He then insisted that on our five previous visits we had returned food also because it wasn't to our liking. Needless to say, he couldn't back that up because it isn't true. What is true, is that on all of our six visits, the bar never got our drinks right. I ordered their only draft pilsner three times and got it just once. The manager tried to work his way out of it by suggesting I had ordered a Mac & Jack (yes, they have it, it's one of my favorites, but they were out of it I heard him say so he substituted with an IPA "hoping I wouldn't notice" (my interpretation). Alas, I hadn't ordered a Mac & Jack this time, and I know the difference between a pilsner and an IPA.) My wife loves Piatti's peach tea. The menu says it comes with peaches and cranberry juice in addition to black iced tea. The first two times it had no cranberry juice. It had no peaches any time we ordered it, but it did have a wonderful tasting peach nectar. The problem is that the bar used so little of it we couldn't tell if it had any. It just tasted like regular iced tea. So the waiters each time offered to do it half and half. Except that the bar refused to comply. So we ended up bargaining for more peach juice each time - willing to pay extra mind you, but they insisted that it wasn't necessary. Long story short, the bar and a seemingly rude, incompetent manager appear to ruin what could be a great dining experience. Not recommended for more than one visit.

Perfect

We were in a hurry with only 45 minutes before the basketball game began. They brought our food out very quickly and made sure to get the check to us right away. Made it with lots of time to spare. Better yet the food was magnificent

Great atmosphere, delicious food!

By fpfarric |

I went to this place for lunch and it was really terrific. We sat outside on the patio and each chair had a blanket on it in case you got cold (such a nice touch)! Everything we ordered (salad, soup, fish, pasta) was delicious. I would go back to this place in an instant!

Reliably good food priced moderately

By Anthony K |

After business in Seattle at the University, rather than fight the freeway traffic north I decided on a meal in the nearby University Village. I found my way to Piatti, where I'd eaten a couple of times several years ago. I was pleased to find that the food was as good as ever, a real plus when a restaurant can maintain a good level of quality over the years. The menu is interesting and varied, the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, with linen on the table and linen napkins. Although there is an area with a full bar and a TV, I hardly noticed it in any way while dining, so it isn't a distraction. The place appeals to all ages, for diners ranged from 5 to 85. Despite some other plugs for the bread, it's okay but nothing special. Oil and vinegar, fine, but not of outstanding quality as a really good Italian restaurant will serve. The Caesar was ample and served shaved parmesan and optional white anchovies--a plus. I was pleased to see that very many plates have optional smaller sizes at a savings. Not having eaten much all day, I thought the large portion would be my ticket but still had leftovers to take home. My selection of rigatoni with lamb sausage, chick peas, spinach, goat cheese, and chilies was something different and quite tasty. Again, not top-of-the-line Italian but certainly serviceable. If you're in the area or shopping at the Village, give the place a try. You'll like it.

CNY dinner

By OpheliaWM |

We just been this restaurant in last weekend and enjoyed the place very much even need wait for one hour, it worth to ! The restaurant full of customer and we're very lucky day by the fireplace and it's so cozy ! We order roast duck breast from the daily special and two others, one pizza! Although it's full house and they're very busy, but the services are very good ! And later when we think why our foods still not coming, the Manager stepped by and sent his apology said the duck breast was over cook and need do it once again ! And then after he left, our waiter COLE came back and send his apologize again and offer us the free drink or glass of wine ( we did ordered before) and we said its alright ! And when we still waiting for our foods .. They keep on dropped by and say sorry till our foods are ready ! The foods are amazing and perfect, we love them so much ... And later they offer us free dessert again and we only take one and insist we pay another one, and when it came out, they put a sparkle candles there and it shine our days... Everyone ate very happy and appreciated, definitely we will come back again with excellent services and good foods here !

Great food and ambiance!

By Quicktrip_10 |

This is the third Piatti restaurant that I've been to (La Jolla, San Antonio, Seattle). The menus are each unique with similarities, but I love the fresh bread with the dipping sauce. The atmosphere was fantastic- we came for lunch on a Saturday and were able to sit in the shade outside. The servers are friendly and attentive. Service is quick. The food is very fresh and you don't get that heavy feeling after eating a lot of yummy pasta. A fun place to check out for a day shopping or a romantic place to go for a date!

Not bad for a chain restaurant at the mall...

By lindsaylittlejohn |

It's a chain restaurant, located in an outdoor mall. Normally, that alone would give a restaurant a 2 star rating, even if the food was good. However, the atmosphere while sitting outside was enjoyable and the sunshine hitting my face while drinking a bottle of rose wine didn't hurt either. The highlight of the meal for me was the fresh bread with olive/vinegar/herbs that they brought out at the beginning of the meal.

We had to wait a little while

By Denver7889 |

We had to wait a little while for a table, but it was worth the wait. Cocktails were wonderful especially the Italian Old Fashion. We started with the Fritto Misto which we both enjoyed. The best was yet to come. Fettuccine Vangale ( fettuccine with clams) was spicy and full of flavor. Carabonara Bucatini was even better. Great meal with good service.

Very disappointing

By Colleen C |

A "starter" salad was $14! Waiter indicated it had "really good ingredients"? Atmosphere was uncomfortable at best. Tables are totally scrunched together. The pasta menu looked good. AT least you can order a "small or medium" size serving. A

Surprisingly good spot in U Village

By Susan R |

Didn’t expect that much from a restaurant in a shopping center, but it was excellent! Our table was right next to the open kitchen which initially seemed a bit strange, but it was sort of fun to watch the action. Lots of background noise made it a bit difficult to hear across the 6 person round table, but that also worked out ok. Our group had a selection of different pizzas and pastas, and all were quite good, with unusual and delicious flavor combinations. We shared several desserts, and the tiramisu was the favorite. Server was also excellent, friendly, not hurried, and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend!

Tasty Italian in a Stylish Setting, But Pricey

By Frank K |

Piatti serves tasty Italian dishes in a stylish setting with friendly service. Our family had the romaine salad, short rib sugo, lasagna, bolognese, cioppino, and lemon ricotta ravioli. Everyone enjoyed their food, but portions felt small for the price. I had the cioppino—nice, hearty broth but light on seafood and not as fresh as what you'd get at Duke’s. Overall, a pleasant meal, just on the expensive side.

Very refined but expensive

By Fredlong22 |

Definitely good food prepared with fresh products but expensive compared to some other places nearby.

Lunch at University Village Disappointing

By love my cat |

My friend and I had lunch at Piatti in the University Village. It is a very pleasant restaurant and if you can get a table by the fireplace especially inviting. I had the chicken sandwich on a ciabatti bread and it was delicious. However, the accompanying salad was a disappointment as it had so many leaves of lettuce that were way overdue to be put in the garbage. Some were actually black. Dressing for salad was just ok. My friend had the vegetarian sandwich which she could not eat because of the balsamic vinegar dressing on the bun was way too sour. She proclaimed the accompanying soup very good. The soup was bean and kale. I would probably go back again but will let the waitress know right away if there is a problem with the order.

A good place to go for a business dinner. The food was very good and we were able to sit outside where it was very pleasant. Clean place with nice open setup and friendly staff.

Great Service and Good Reasonably Priced Food

By Paul N |

I have been here with a business associate for lunch and dinner. Great selection of salads at lunch time with outdoor patio seating in the summer which is really nice. For dinner, I suggest the half chicken which is prepared in a way that brings out the flavor - one of the best chicken dinners I have had. A great selection of wines and also imaginative non-alcoholoc drinks like a cucumber drink - who knew? The prices are quite reasonable for the quality and the service is excellent.

Dependable Italian, a bit upscale, good for work

By Jack B |

I was with colleagues from UW, and this is apparently a standard for them. It is a nice place for a group of 3-4. It is probably a bit noisy for larger groups, partly because it seemed to have a lot of larger groups. Food was great and refreshingly non-familiar. I had a great lentil soup that was the special, and it was perfect on a cold, rainy night. I had the sausages and grilled vegetables as a second course, and it was a surprise in the best sense. The fennel sausages were very fresh tasting, not at all greasy and, dare I say it, light. The grilled vegetables reminded me a lot of the antipasti in Italy: simply done with a bit of olive oil, and right out of the garden fresh. The lentil soup was much more substantial than I expected, so I felt I had the perfect main dish. My dining companions went for pasta dishes, which looked pretty standard and not surprising, but it was exactly what they wanted. Wines were on the expensive side per glass, but I liked having the "big glass" 1.5 pour, which was the perfect option for two courses when one glass was not enough and 2 glasses were more than I wanted for a business dinner.

Delicious pasta

By treinke |

Went with a couple of colleagues. Had The Fever which was delicious. I ordered the oriechette with cauliflower and it was outstanding. We ordered the cheese plate for three and it was pretty skimpy. I slice of three different types of cheese. I would hate to see what the course looked like for one.

Always been a reliable place

By LuvTravel |

Always been a reliable place to meet friends for lunch or happy hour, for as long as it’s been open in UVillage. Until today, good service. Today, dirty table and server told us it wasn’t when we asked him to wipe it down! But he did it anyway. No biggie except we are in a Pandemic and if they resist this basic cleanliness activity, what else is not being cleaned? Since there are now plenty of better restaurants in the village with covered outdoor seating and heat lamps, I won’t be going to Piatti’s again.

Civilized dining in a shopping ,mall

By Pepper |

I have gone to Piatti to meet friends and have a lunch or dinner with a table cloth- and I have always liked it. Its quite different in feel since its remodel- the bar figures more prominently now and the room is a bit more casual- but the food is always well put together. I don't ask them to do anything complicated though. My friend had a beet salad which she liked ( but it was small) and I had the Cobb which I thought was nicely done. Their squash soup is good too. This isnt' fine dining but its very good dining in a nice atmosphere. One sour note: our waiter- though quite nice- was seriously inept. He left us while we were deciding - and then it seemed, had left us for good. I finally got up and nabbed him, and he seemed pleased to be " found"- but instead of watching us and asking us what we wanted, he just invited us to flag him down again. We had to find a bus boy to keep us in hot water for our tea. The poor guy actually told the manager that he hadn't done well by us- which was kind of endearing- and she apologized- but they really need to train their waiters!

A good place for Italian food

By Mayatravels |

This is a great restaurant in a large shopping center. We ordered all the daily specials and were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good, the service was friendly and attentive and the prices are on the slightly higher side.

Why did it have to change?

By Marta V |

Piatti has always been one of our go-to places. We have been eating there for years. Even have had a couple of corporate Christmas lunches there. We have loved the food and the atmosphere. Now it has all changed. My husband and I did some Christmas shopping at U Village and went for dinner. First of all, the atmosphere is very different after the remodel. The bar is now much bigger and dominates the space, all the intimate booths that they used to have are gone. There is no longer a clear separation between the bar area and the dining room. We did not like it at all. They also have a new chef. We were hopeful. Sadly, we were disappointed. We had drinks, appetizers, bread, salad, and entrees. Things sounded so good on paper, but everything was bland, under- seasoned and forgettable. We are so sad. We will not be returning. Another great restaurant bites the dust.

Very Friendly Staff

By ham382 |

Ate here with work colleagues. Nice place, lots of outside seating as well as inside. I had pasta while colleagues had pizza. Everyone was really happy with choices, mine tasted great. Desert menu is yummy - recommend the chocolate cake. Very impressed and would recommend if you're nearby!

Consistent Freshness and High Quality

By Texas1traveller |

Some other reviewers have "dinged" this restaurant because it is part of a chain and located in a shopping mall. That's a snooty attitude in our opinion. This restaurant has a modern, laid back ambiance, with a friendly vibe. Outdoor seating is available and also attractive. Good wine list, but not very big. The highlight is the freshness and consistency of the food. We have eaten here often and they have never failed us. Bolognese sauce is the best in Seattle. Seafood dishes and risotto are always perfectly cooked. Service is friendly, but not intrusive. All in all, we leave here every time with a warm and contented feeling.

THIS is an awesome place to eat !

After having eaten at Piatti - in Montecito (near Santa Barbara, CA) for many years & having had a fantastic lunch - or - dinner experience every tyme... we decided to give this Piatti a shot. What we found is... the same excellent Italian food (fresh & deelish !) - a friendly & professional staff - and a very nice environment. We highly recommend it & we WILL return !

Lovely Dinner

By paris4awhile |

We went to dinner assuming Piatti would be a chain restaurant sort of meal that would be a step above Olive Garden. It was stratospherically better than the Olive Garden. We enjoyed everything we tried. The service was great. Surprisingly lovely for a restaurant in the middle of a shopping mall. It was a real treat. Wood oven pizzas are great. The steak was perfect. Salads were fresh and tasty. We sat outside and enjoyed the fact that the waiter didn't rush us but wasn't too slow either. Just right.

In U. Village- HUGE portions- nicely priced and excellent quality for the price.

Beautiful Oasis Admist the Bustling Crowds!

Working at the nearby hospital a co-worker and I were looking for a restaurant that was a cut above the average and found it in Piatti. The atmosphere is open, yet warm catering to all kinds of gatherings. The menu was refreshingly eclectic, which I love, and everything was delicious! To start I got the octopus appetizer (phenomenal!), and for my main I got the Manila Clams (so good). Since that day I've been back the last two times I was in the area and definitely plan on going again! It has yet to disappoint:-)

Comfortable relaxed Italian with patio seating

By Dan M |

We dined at Piatti for a family gathering the weekend of July 4th 2022. The staff were very welcoming, and our waitress was accommodating with our large group and slow decision making. They had numerous white and red wine options, both domestic and italian. The lemon ravioli pasta was bursting with citrus flavor, an unusual but tasty combination. The pizza was good but not exceptional or overly unique. The outdoor patio seating was really pleasant. In an era of Covid when many like to be in less crowded dining situations, their patio option was a great option, particularly for a large group. It was an overall excellent dinner and I would go again for recommend to friends.

Like eating in a factory

This is a very large restaurant that seems very corporate - in the worst definition of the word. Impersonal. Formulaic. Rushed. Bland. The food was not bad but it certainly was not good. I can recommend this restaurant on a rainy night when your car just broke down in the nearby parking lot and you have to wait an hour before AAA comes.

Solid choice, always good

Recently remodeled, good ambiance. Quality food, good service. A favorite entree is the Zuppa di Pesce or Fish Soup. But more like an Italian bouillabaisse than a soup. Also excellent pasta entrees. Wonderful, favorable bread. Recommended!

A Pleasant Birthday Lunch with the Grandson

By Dwnptrl |

The wife and I took our grandson who is a freshman at the U for lunch here. He had the smoked meat pizza while we split a roasted vegie sandwich and a cup of their soup. Food and service was excellent and the prize within reason.

An average Italian restaurant.

By Travel 1 |

Limited selection and the food was fair. Atmosphere is nice and located in the University Village which makes parking easy.

Pretty good Italian

By TXMARTINS |

Located in the heart of U Village this place has a great location and patio with good pastas and pizzas. The service was a little slow, but they have a good brunch and happy hour depending on when you go. Everything was really fresh and warm when it came out.

Very yummy

I had the carpaccio and risotto. Both were good. And the service was polite and quick.

FALL in Love

By GDG |

It was a typical Seattle Fall day - cool - blustery and wet ! for a Southern Californian who loves Fall and the shift to Fall foods but has a hard time enjoying hearty soups and comfort food in shorts and a t shirt - so for me it was a perfect day and Piatti was the perfect stop , warm and welcoming inside , the smell of the wood burning pizza oven was heaven . Not starving and wanting more flavor than to get full we started with the roasted brussel sprouts on a bed of creamy butternut squash - toasty , rich and flavorful - yum , the lentil soup bowl was more than enough to share and filled with a variety of tasty ingredients combined with kale to easily make it a meal - the friendly staff brought us warm bread to dip and had several great recommendations from the well balanced wine by the glass list . next time i return i promise to be hungry so as to try several of their tempting dinner selections - but for that rainy day what we had was enough to Fall in love with Piatti

A Nicely Priced Fancy Restaurant with Great Italian Food

By Tony G |

Piatti has been down in University Village for more than two decades now and for good reason. It is a nicely priced Italian restaurant that has some very authentic food. You can build your own meal by choosing antipasti, salad, entrée, and then finish it off with a nice dessert. I love the potato gnocci. Service is wonderful. Very attentive, friendly, but they don't rush you out the door. We were there with a moderately large group and they did a nice job fitting us in.

Won't be returning

By summerfunteacher |

Fail one: restroom smelled strongly of pee, not very tidy. Pee atti? Fail two: slow to serve despite seeing at least 5 servers and only 5 other tables Fail three: server walked away from us in mid order for starters without explanation Fail four: 'clean' fork was caked with egg? Replaced it but felt at least my coffee should have been comped. Food was only OK.

great food and service

By DaveCalgary |

we stopped in for a drink and appetizers. we found the misc plate of cheese/jam/pate/etc was very good and the service was excellent

Good Lunch

By Royce F |

We were hungry for a tasty lunch after attending a couple of lectures at nearby U of W, and this place worked. Good sandwiches (Butchers Meatballs) and fries. No wait this Saturday afternoon. Not hurried. Above average food. Classier than a purely burger, pasta place.

Pizza

Easily the worst margarita pizza ever. Service was good and the wine satisfactory Certainly not worth another visit

Complex tastes, high prices

By Wave R |

Just to warn our readers, I prefer perfectly prepared, traditional cuisines. When looking for Italian restaurants, I expect sauces to be aromatic, not sweet, and please hold off using sun-dried tomatoes. I found this restaurant to be pretentious and overpriced for a mall restaurant. The two wines I ordered were harsh, rather than the dry, fruity flavors I'd been they were. I was hoping that after the long-waited for renovations would result in a menu worth coming back for, but having just back from the East Coast where Italian food is plentiful and inexpensive, this please just wasn't to my taste.

Formula Italian at the UN is OK

By Downpat |

Have eaten at Piatti at University Village several times. It is the best restaurant in the Village but by far only a fair Italian ristorante. It has the same tried pasta dishes that so many corporate restauants have. Gnocchi with Pesto Cream, Marinara, Parm and Pine nuts. Not very original. A good yuppie bar and OK food but nothing extraordinary.

very good

My husband and I shared a pizza and it was delicious and plenty for lunch. the bread and oil dip is also very good

Pleasant surprise!

By m H |

It's not often you can find quality dining in a shopping mall. This place was such a surprise. We were greeted with a smile and were seated for lunch immediately. Our server was pleasant without being intrusive. The place was clean and well lit. The menu had quite a few options for lunch. I had a bowl of the kale bean soup with a side of arancini. It was so good. The soup was flavorful and nicely balanced. The arancini were delightful and not greasy. They had a lovely selection of wines to pair as well. We will definitely be going back.

Delightful lunch

By nanajean61 |

Piatti is a delightful place to lunch. The service is first class, from the charming and helpful hostess and the knowledgeable and attentive servers. The food was excellent. We started with a charcuterie and cheese platter. We were given a choice of cheeses and meats. It was plenty for two people. For a main my guest had the risotto of the day, and loved it, and I indulged in a plate of creamy, delicious gnocchi. I'll go back there for dinner.

Great Place

This was our first visit to Piatti Ristorante & Bar. Having not made a reservation we were soon shown to a table and introduced to our waiter who was outstanding. The restaurant was clearly very popular for groups ranging from couples to larger party’s. We went as a family group of five and had a great time. Fantastic food & service.

Great Italian restaurant

By love2dine50 |

We love eating @ Piatti in the University Village. Great food and unusual choices of Italian food. We ate here in New Year's Eve and I had a "wild boar" fettucini which was delicious. They have great Happy Hour as well. Be sure to order the artichoke appetizer. I had a "hot apple pie" cocktail and my wife had a "mint" cocktail. Both delicious. The hot apple pie drink was perfect for a cold evening outside. They also have "half-order" portions available on some of their entrees which was still enough food.

Great service and delicious food!

Our family of seven had a wonderful dinner experience on Wednesday, October17. Lucas our waiter was perfect! Very helpfull and patient! The lamb shank,Monkfish and chicken were all prepared perfectly. The deserts delicious! We will be back!

The bread basket alone is worth going for!

By Caligal |

Great option in the U Village for a nice evening. Very crowded on a Friday night. The bread basket is served with oil and vinegar. Italian style menu with a first, second, and main. Bar serves full menu if dining alone. More eclectic than family style. Enjoy!

Great service, mediocre starters.

By LisaPageDesign |

The atmosphere here is so fresh & airy in the summer! Sitting on the shady patio on a warm evening was lovely. Staff here were so attentive and delightful, first rate service. Arancini were crisp & creamy but lacked pizazz. Rather disappointed in the Pizza. They display pizza ovens so I expected better than was delivered. Except for the edge, the whole center crust was a doughy sludge of oil & goopy cheese. :-p Perhaps entrées are prepared with more care, but if an Italian place with high-end pizza ovens can't produce a decent pie I'm not sure I want to try more.

Nice stop in the U district

By MinxInWA |

As others said, this is a nice stop for Italian in the U. Parking is easy in the shopping center, and if you are as tired of parking garages on your holiday as we were, you'll know why that mattered! The restaurant was clean and fresh looking, wait staff attentive and polite, and the menu varied. The prices are in line with other eateries in the area. We loved the entrees in two sizes. I can never finish mine and on a trip it would be wasted. We had the chicken cutlet on spaghetti and the rigatoni. Both were al dente, meaning a bit undercooked. (I don't personally care for that, but it's the "way" in restaurants, it seems) This would be where I'd choose to bring an important client or special dinner companion if visiting the area.

Best Italian restaurant

By Sheifaly W |

It's in university village. The staff is amazing and very friendly. We ended up buying the dip sauce that was served with bread. The hot Apple Cider was the show stopper. Food was delicious and we loved the place.

Friends

By Barbie4est |

We came here upon recommendation of some friends. We came for lunch and we weren't disappointed! We ordered the fritter appetizer. 😋 I ordered the sweet corn ravioli... I do love corn and Italian food so it was a shoe in! My husband ordered the salmon of course and it was beautifully cooked and seemed to be fresh. Our friend ordered the pizza arugula and enjoyed it thoroughly! The presentation was beautiful and the portions generous!

A local favorite of ours

By Squirtnagle |

Piatti is one of our perennial favorites. We love the fresh-baked bread, usually an assortment of focaccia and sourdough, and always have friendly services. We also appreciate their willingness to accommodate the dietary needs of our young daughter, who has Celiac disease. We come here once a month, typically, and bring our relatives when they visit. It’s a nice variety of Tuscan style pizza, pasta and fish and meat dishes, with nice salads thrown in. Highly recommended.

A great little Italian place in Univ Village

By TallSuzy |

I took my godson, who is a sophomore at the Univ of Wash, out for dinner here. It was delicious. The service was excellent, the waiter was well informed and took very good care of us. The food was well executed, flavorful and came in nice, smallish portion sizes so I didn't feel stuffed at the end of my meal. I will definitely go again if I'm in Seattle.

Sweet and smooth

Took the family to late lunch. All the food was great but we especially loved he grape / goat cheese pizza. The bread starter was perfectly matched with the olive oil and the beer was cold

Closed

Right now this restaurant is closed for a major remodeling job. I'm not sure if the same restaurant will be in that space or not. Hope it does come back as we always enjoyed it.

Very Popular

By Lartemis |

We had a 6:30 reservation and were seated right away, but our table location was less than desirable: right next to the open kitchen and in the path of the wait-staff and bathrooms. I had trouble hearing my companions. The service was good, the bread was excellent. They came with a olive oil and balsamic dipping plate. I had the small size spinach and goat cheese ravioli. It had 5 large raviolis which were good, but the whole dish seemed a bit heavy on the olive oil and the goat cheese flavor did not stand out. My companion had the gem Caesar salad. It looked beautiful with three large anchovies, but I tasted it and did not care for it.

very nice!

Very nice atmosphere! Very clean, and very friendly, professional waiters. The food was really good too. I think it was on the higher side, but still worth it. :-)

best pizza in the United States!

By TravelingwithFam |

This is a must visit place. The service was great, the pizza was out of this world and the bolognese was fabulous. Piatti was very Italian feeling. I highly recommend this place!

Friendly people, reasonable pricing and tasty food

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon during happy hour. Nice menu and pricing at happy hour, opted to sit in dining area and had a very well prepared ravioli. Friendly wait staff and great experience. Will be back again.
