On a warm day in April we stopped to have a bite of lunch and were able to sit outside.... We chose a Pizza and a chicken with pesto panini. An arugula, fennel and thinly sliced Apple salad on the side. Who knew?! The pizza was the BEST ever! The sandwich and salad were outstanding. It was a special treat on a beautiful afternoon. I would suggest everyone stop and have a bite... Just save a table for us! Kudos to the owner and yummy food. A surprise in the Pearl!

Unique Italian dishes that were absolutely outstanding. Fantastic service and great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Stopped in here for lunch a few times over the years and I have to say it's one of Portland, OR best kept secrets. The food is fresh and delicious. the owner is one of the wait staffs and enjoys finding out what you like and don't like. For lunch I had a meat and cheese platter that was very filling and still less expensive then a fine dinning restaurant, this place has amazing fire bread pizzas as well.

We've gone to Piattino several times and were always happy with the experience. The place itself is beautiful, all exposed wood, and has a very cozy feel to it. This time we had the pizza, again, and the lamb chops with saffron sauce. Both were perfect. The restaurant serves both wine and cocktails also. Why Piattino is never on the list of Portland's best pizza places is a mystery to me. It can easily compete with Lovely's Fifty Fifty, Nostrana and especially next door's Oven and Shaker. Probably because it isn't run by hipster hippies which is a good thing, because the diner knows the quality will be consistent and the service won't be spotty and clueless. Very much recommended.

In addition to the friendly and knowledgeable staff, the food at Piattinos was excellent. More importantly, the quality of the food didn't affect the quantity! Our party of four split three dishes and had plenty to eat. It was clear from the quality that the food was prepared in house. We enjoyed pizza and pasta dishes, both prepared with the perfect amount of toppings and sauce. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, great for long dinners with friends and family or intimate drinks at the bar before a night out. Finally, the attention and care that the owner gave us throughout the night was truly refreshing! It is apparent that he and his staff take great pride in their work. We would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

The owner behaved in the worse possible way I have ever seen and the food was terrible. We went there for dinner on a Friday night around peak time. From the outside the place looks warm and inviting. We walked in and the waitresses were warm in their greetings and quick to take our order even though it was apparent they were short staff. Then we received our food and it was overpriced for what we received (around $20 a plate). The top of my manicotti was burned. My partner had the lamb ragu. It tasted like it came from a jar and we couldn't find any lamb. We didn't complain as we were hungry and it was a Friday. However, as we were finishing up the owner came out and stood behind the bar. The waitress serving us was standing behind us. The owner reprimands the waitress OVER OUR HEAD. The poor thing took the reprimand with grace even though she was doing the work of four people. As we left my partner told the owner she felt his behavior was inappropriate in front of customers. He then gives us a three minute speech on how hard he has to work because he was short staff due to staff not making it in from the ice (he implied some bad things about them as well). Unbelievable. I can never go back to a place that treats their employees so poorly. Plus the food was bad. Stay away - you may get yelled at too.

The restaurant was nice inside and had a good size fire roasting oven. The service was very good. We ordered the truffle oil pizza and mussels to share. Don't waste your time with the mussels. They looked great but were lacking any flavor. But the pizza made up for the mussels. It was delicious and worth every calorie I ate. I suggest sticking with the pizza and you will extremely happy. I have to mention the table water served. It has fresh mint in the bottle and was refreshing.

It was an amazingly frustrating experience, that involve my being lectured on the impossibility of picking out pizza toppings without reading the menu and other amazingly nonsensical observations – – rarely have I felt so patronised in my many mini years of attempting and succeeding to order pizza ! I failed. I can only hope that the very unsatisfying conversation with a rude and passive aggressive staff member is not representative of the quality of their pizza

Found this place by accident. We weren't looking for it, but it found us and we not disappointed. Intimate setting. loved the tree cut tables. We had the cheese and salami board and kale lasagna. Yummy!! Loved the cheese selections. Small portions that were just right for lunch. I can't wait to come for dinner.

I had the spaghetti and meatballs it was sensational The owner assisted us in making selections I can't say enough good things about the restaurant

We were walking around the Pearl District running errands and meeting clients while visiting PDX when we decided to go into Piattino for a quick bite during lunch. We were very pleasantly surprised. The place is up to speed with the pleasant set up you'd expect in this part of town, the choices for food and drink were way better than we expected, the owner was incredibly nice and friendly and the pizza was simply perfect. Thin, tasty and baked to a complete crispy perfection. We would absolutely go back and we wholeheartedly recommend it!

Yep, your not seeing things, It's rare that I award 5 stars to anything but, this place definitely deserved it. I was a little sceptical at 1st Will see arancini with Chipotle sauce appetiser.Don't ask me, I'm was totally baffled also. Overall come a will executed But mysterious. Welcome I'm in Portland. I've seen stranger things. The real hero here was the tagliatelle with crab . Hands down the best pasta I've had anywhere on the planet . And that includes the weeks I spent in Italy Light and delicate, NOT chewy or "al dente", it was truly sublime. I think I have finally completed my quest for truly terrific pasta. I can't wait to go back

Food was terrific, sauces were rich and tasty, good cheeses used, friendly, relaxed. Zachary handled our group with along. We will go back

The black ink pasta was execellent, nice mouth feel, spicy, and not overwhelmed with sauce. My spouse had the kale salad and that was good as well. We went before a play and enjoyed sitting outside. The portions and prices were just the right size, not too huge and not the mini-one bite trendy plates. I would recommend getting an appetizer if you are hungry.

We have eaten at Piatino four times in the past year and ordered different menu items on each visit. We have never been disappointed. Owner/chef is always there and he loves what he does. He adds to your experience. Service is sometimes spotty but food variety and quality makes this a worthwhile stop.

We stopped in for something light prior to a play at Portland Center Stage. We arrived about 5:15 and it was about 35% full and as the evening progressed it filled to capacity. The happy hour menu provided several options. The drink special selection was some what more limited. Service was good; not exceptional. Prices were a little higher than other happy hour options but the mussels we ordered and shared were very good and a good sized portion. We had eaten a large lunch so the mussels with a couple beers were adequate for us. We did look at the dinner menu and there was a fairly large range of moderately priced items that we may return to sample. It is a nice setting and we will return to sample other items on the menu. It is in an area that provides several options so the competition is keen. It is worthy of a try especially if other options are busy.

It was crowded so we decided to eat. Tables outside were perfect. Everyone loved their food. I had the black kale salad and it was fantastic. Cooked kale, bacon, walnuts, raisins. Yum!

With only one night in Portland, our dinner choice had to be special. As it happens, we truly lucked out. Piattino is most amazing— a gem of an Italian restaurant making great use of the seasonal local ingredients! Cozy, wood burning fireplace on the inside and Covid-safe, covered space on the outside. The service was outstanding. We couldn’t decide on the wine, so the server brought us several tastings of the wines we were interested in. Lovely. For the food, we decided to graze. The apps, salads, soups were outstanding! The Asparagi Grigliati and black kale salad tasted as if it was picked from the garden that very day. As we don’t eat meat, the restaurant was happy to substitute the Cana de Oveja cheese ( a wonderful find) for the prosciutto di Parma. So very accommodating! Another spectacular dish was the polenta w wild mushrooms. This dish was accented by a tomato purée and pistachio pesto. The sweet nutty flavor of pistachio enhanced the green beauty of the pesto. Scrumptious! The food is fantastic- check. The customer service— stellar! I left my iPhone at the restaurant. The owners found it and contacted my husband to let us know we could pick it up when the restaurant opens at 5pm. One problem, I was on a plane bound for NYC. When we landed, we called the restaurant to tell them that we wouldn’t be able to pick up the phone. The owner was nonplussed! The next day he sent me my iPhone by 2-day Priority Mail. My iPhone and I were happily reunited. And don’t you know the owner called to make sure I received my phone! Amazing! Piattino is a restaurant that delivers farm fresh food with outstanding customer service. We love this place and you will too.

The food is excellent, though slightly expensive. They place is not too big and would be nice to book in advance on the weekends.

A lovely Italian restaurant with excellent food and excellent service. We started with a wonderful choose-your-own charcuterie platter, and had pasta entrees that were really good. Three very inebriated women sitting at the bar caused a bit of a ruckus and were handled professionally and discreetly by the staff. Will definitely go back here.

I definitely will be back! I was with a party of 3 and we came in around 8:00 on a Friday night. We were told that it would be about 30 minutes until a table opened up (very small space), but we decided to sit at the bar to grab drinks and would just eat there instead. The owner started chatting with us and he ended up giving us the yelp discount of a $15 bottle of wine even though it wasn't a promoted night. It was a delicious bottle too! They staff took excellent care of our party, including myself who has food allergies to milk and nuts. I was able to choose a pizza and get it without cheese, no problem, and it tasted AMAZING. I highly recommend giving this place a shot. I know I will be back very soon!

No kids friendly. Poor hostess, greet and meet service. This feedback reflects the lack of basic understanding of CUSTOMER SERVICE by the owner and all staff in this business. Based on decent rating in social channels and close location to the hotel where my family were staying for the weekend in Down Town of Portland we selected to try this restaurant. There were not option available on ‘Open Table’ to make a reservation. So I called directly to restaurant and ask table for four in flexible time window of 1 hour+/-. The owner replied right away they don’t accept any reservation but we can come and ‘try’ to be seated. I wondered if they were too busy at the moment. He said ‘not really’ but he is not ready to commit and guarantee available table within an hour. As I mentioned, the location was not too far away so we decided to give it a shot. Not later than 20 min after the call , 4 of us walked in to restaurant-which was half full ( on the pic). Asked for a table, the hostess told us it will take 30 min to be seated. Literally, a few min later, the owner came itself and declared the waiting time for us probably at least 1 hour. I wondered why, if they don’t accept a reservation but obviously they have more then one table available at the moment. They said the available tables are minimum for 6 and we are ONLY 4. SERIOUSLY?! Are you business is too good to compromise on party of 4 for Saturday evening? Of course, we left this place and easily found another restaurant where we were welcomed and with had a good time, delicious food, drinks and light heartedly spent a few hundred bucks for the pleasure. In attempt to maximize your profit, you ready lose a business of potential customers? Customer experience started with first impression and in this place it was poor skills in taking an incoming calls and greet and meet of walk ins.

My wife and I came in for lunch, we had been walking around Portland with our baby boy in the stroller, when we got there he was sleeping, stayed asleep the entire time. Owner of Restaurant was bummed he didn't get to meet the little guy. The staff, and owner were extremely nice, and took great care of us. The food was better than a 5 star, we started with the tomato soup, this was so full of flavor it was unbelievable. For the entree I had the black pasta, and my wife had the fettuccine, both meals were beyond belief great tasting. The black pasta had so much flavor, a little spice, and lots of depth along with mussels and shrimp, perfect for myself, I'm 6 foot, 190lbs and eat like a horse, this was more than enough food. My wife loved her fettuccine, it too was filled with flavor. Everything is made in house. The dessert was perfect also. Everything was so good we came back for dinner and picked up some pizzas to go. Highly recommend this place.

I guess I was wrong to expect a delicious, amazing meal. The gentleman behind the bar was quite nice, and the Apple and fennel salad was delicious. Nothing else was good, especially not the unsmiling server who plunked my three plates down unceremoniously, "thunk", and who never asked once how was any of my three dishes. I ordered a lovely pane with sun-dried tomato and basil, which was okay, nothing special, and not prepared up to the standards this restaurant should maintain. And then was given my salad almost immediately after. I was going to have some time in between courses, but no, I was given my main course before I was even half done either my salad or pane. I wanted to enjoy my salad and beer and then before dinner I would prefer a lovely glass of wine to accompany my main course. I was not given this opportunity. Dinner was dumped in front of me. Soggy noodles, meat that smelled and tasted of dog food (the manicotti). And still no quality check on any area of my food or drink. This waitress should not be in the business. I thought I was in for a lovely evening of dining at one of the best restaurants in a city that I was visiting, and here I am, not offered a dessert of any kind and headed in my way with only disappointment to walk me home. Alas...

After checking out several places for dinner, we decided to come here. Happy we did. The hardest part was choosing what to order Food was amazing and the service was attentive, but not overbearing

Went here twice in our 4 night trip. The food was so fresh and well thought out, the fettuccine with pistachios was especially delicious. The leg of lamb was unbelievable! Their pizzas looked good but we did not have one. They have an excellent wine list. The staff was great as well. Typically when we travel we will find a good place and then go back for a second meal to be disappointed. This was not the case. Totally worth a visit.

We enjoyed dinner here for sure. The service is good, the drink selection is good and the food is lovely. They are conveniently located in an area that has a lot of nice shopping- Anthropologie, Free People, Powell's books, etc. So go shop and then go to dinner there!

I recently visited the city of Portland for the first time, and when looking for Italian restaurants, and even trying few others, I discovered the one with the most authentic Italian menu and deliciously flavorful cuisine. Having been to Italy several times before, you know what to expect. When you uncover such a great place to eat, you don't mind going back a few more times, like I did. Piattino was an absolutely fantastic experience for me, and I now have a favorite location to eat the next time I visit Portland.

Lovely Italian, excellant pizza made in the wood oven, staff very friendly and made you feel welcome. Did lack atmosphere however we did go on a week night.

They make all their sauces in house. Nice starters. Lots of homemade pizzas & pastas; no real fish or meat entrees if you don’t like pasta. Desserts are unusual like goat cheese cheesecake.

This restaurant served delicious food! Many people sat outside but I sat inside. The decor was beautiful. There were wood tables and decorations making the restaurant feel cozy. I had ordered the potato gnocchi and it was amazing! The meat sauce was so delicious! One of my fellow guests ordered a pizza and describes it as the best pizza she has ever had. The desserts looked delicious but I was too full to get one because the dinner was so good! This is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Portland.

I had a very bad day. I went to order a burrito in a food cart. It turned out to be not only the worst burrito I had but probably the worst meal I had ever. So I went to Piattino. I ordered some garlic bread. I figured I can't abide another bad culinary experience that day, and garlic brad is gracefully simple and it is extremely hard to ruin it. Especially when you had an right oven. Lady who took my order eyed me up end down making sure I am "ONLY ordering garlic bred". Her face expressed disdain. I could understand it to some level. But why she had to express it so vividly? I wouldn't mind as much if garlic bread would be good, but it wasn't. Why include sesame seed and black seeds and tons of garlic? So much it has an metallic taste? Blame it on my bad mood but I am not incline to eat again in the place where simples dish was so contrived....

Great service and absolutely delicious food. We had the gnocchi with pork rags, chicken sandwich with fries and a pistachio cannoli! The best cannoli ever!

Nestled in the heart of NW Portland, Piattino is a must-visit for those seeking an intimate dining experience with top-tier service and a thoughtfully curated menu. From the moment we stepped inside, the inviting scent of firewood set the stage for a warm and memorable evening. With its soft lighting and cozy ambiance, Piattino proved to be the perfect date night spot. From the start, the service at Piattino was impeccable. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to provide recommendations, which elevated the entire dining experience. I kicked off my meal with a Bloodshot, one of Piattino’s signature cocktails. A balanced mix of tequila, triple sec, pomegranate juice, and lime juice, finished with a salted rim and a lime wheel, this drink was the perfect way to start the evening—refreshing, slightly tart, and beautifully presented. For an appetizer, I chose the Arancini—deep-fried rice balls stuffed with meat and cheese, served with a smoky chipotle aioli. The crisp exterior gave way to a creamy, flavor-packed center, making this dish a standout starter that I’d happily order again. The menu, impressively extensive for such a small space, offers a variety of enticing options. I opted for the Lamb Pappardelle, which featured hand-cut pimentón pappardelle pasta tossed in a rich lamb ragu, topped with parmesan and fresh arugula. Every bite was a perfect.

Soup thick and tasty Salad fresh and interesting Pane Bianca better than any pizza, which they also have, lamb on pasta really everything excellent will certainly go back

My husband and I have been to Portland many times, but this was our first visit to Piattino. What a find! We shared the ribollita, roasted beet salad, mushroom pizza, and the potato gnocchi with ragu. Every dish was so delicious! The service was excellent and the location in the Pearl was convenient to our hotel, and perfect for a post-dinner stroll. We will definitely be back.

Great location in the Pearl district, and decent pizzas and wine, but damn, the service was appalling. We sat at the bar for 10 minutes (no one else was there) before we finally had to ask for drinks. Once we sat down it was a little better, but clearly the server was new. The pizza was fine, not spectacular for the price, but overcooked crusts (as was the manicotti my friend had). Odd little place.

This is a small space in which to offer so many absolutely delicious options. Meaning, people are likely to sit for a while and you may have to wait in the barely there entrance area. But it's worth it! The food is spot on, flavorful and fresh. Portions are generous, salads are definitely for sharing unless it's your meal. Service is warm, I believe the owner (slightly older gentleman) was serving in fact. We did a serendipitous moving feast and this was our last stop so we really did not need to eat a full meal. However we blatantly ogled other people's plates, overheard conversations raving about the pasta Etc, and loved our Apple/fennel/arugula salad and two types of Pizza.

came across this eatery while making a pit stop in Portland. We were not disappointed. Food, service and ambiance were perfect. The wood fired Margarita pizza was memorable. We will def return next time in the city.

Love this place. Every time we're in Portland, we stop by. The owner is service oriented and food is great. Kale salad and tomato soup rock.

Amazing food, experience and service. The restaurant offers authentic Italian food in a unique restaurant setting with great vibes. We had the meatballs, pizza and bolognese. All were excellent. A great find in the Pearl District. I would recommend making a reservation as the restaurant is small.

I stumbled upon Piattino on my walk back to my hotel from one of the First Thursday arts celebrations. I sat at the bar as the restaurant was very busy and mostly full the entire time I was there. The staff were very friendly, albeit very busy, and the food was very good. I had wine and the pollo margherita entree. This is a pretty laid back place as you might expect in Portland. I would suggest that you try Piattino, and I'm glad that I chose this place to stop.

Let me start by saying that I've worked in the service induatry for numerous years, and am a huge foodie. My Girlfriend and I (who is 8 months pregnant) were looking for a few good resturants to have Tapas before seeing a Broadway production in Portland. This place was advertised all over the web at being a great place for just that. We decided that a cheese tray would be perfect to finish off the evening before we stopped for dessert. We arrived and waited patiently to be seated. The woman working asked why we were there and we told her we were going to have some appetizers. She scoffed and said they are only doing dinner and told us we could not eat there (when there was plenty of open seating). She then proceeded to ignore us until we left. It was very clear that they are only interested in taking your money instead of providing a service. I'll never return or ever recommend a place that treats theor patrons in thst manner.

We had dinner here last night and have a mixed impression of the place. We ordered a variety of dishes and tried many things. The pasta was generally okay but some of the sauces were lacking. The meatballs were good but the bruschetta was very bad. We had a nice wine but the cocktails were not up to par. We were seated quickly but service was slow. To be fair it was a busy Friday night but, the staff was either inexperienced or they were just overwhelmed. But, if you cannot manage to adequately serve the customers you have seated then you are doing something wrong. We may try them again in the future to see if they have it sorted out but never again when they are busy. If you want to try eating here then just walk, don't run!

Ok, if you are looking for quality over quantity this is the place. The food is amazing and wood fired . Pizza and pasta were to die for . Owner is there and a great guy. You may have to wait but it's worth it! Beautiful setting , great outdoor seating and good bar.

We discovered this gem while walking through the Pearl district on a Friday night, sat outside and had 2 delicious salads, pasta and a glass of the house red, everything expertly prepared and served. We noticed the wood fired oven inside and wanted to sample their pizza but were too stuffed to eat another bite, so we went back the next night for that. The owner recognized us immediately and welcomed us back with open arms. After more salad, stuffed mushrooms, and red wine, we had a delicious pizza well prepared in front of our eyes, thin, crispy crust with just the right amount of meat, cheese and sauce. We couldn't leave without having a delicious dessert, tiramisu, cream, chocolate and just a hint of orange, out of this world with an espresso ! You owe it to yourselves to go there if you are ever in the Pearl district of Portland.

My husband and I stopped in for dinner at Piattino without knowing anything about it. We were in for a wonderful surprise. We were greeted by the owner, Kooroush, and shown to a table. We learned from the owner's twin nephews (our waiters) that Koyoroushhad built all the tables and created the decor by himself. I tried the manicotti and my husband had the Fra Diavlo (shellfish and pasta). Both were delicious. The wine list is limited and a bit high priced, but we eat had a nice glass of red. This was a very enjoyable dinner. Great food, service and ambiance.

Dropped in here for lunch since we could not get into Deschutes. Happy that happened! I had the house made spaghetti and meatballs - which you would think would be boring but way anything but. Very good meatballs and fantastic house made pasta. The sauce was fantastic. My son had the mussels on black pasta - the shellfish was very fresh and the ink pasta excellent. The sausage pizza had a very nice thin crust and sausage with a kick. Two at the table had a fantastic dish of roasted green beans, tomatoes, red onion with some mozzarrela and balsamic - what a creative, simple, delicious dish. Served by a man who i think was the owner - he could not have been more gracious.

This is a very small place but we got seated at the counter right away and that worked fine. The food came out quickly - hot and delicious. I started with the minestrone while my wife had the beet salad. As we were finishing the starters, my black pasta and my wifes ravioli arrived. Mine was very good but my wifes was exceptional. Ravioli filled with mushroom with an amazing sausage on top. Delish. The owner was very warm and personable. Highly recommended.

Idyllic eatery with an excellent menu. The setting is intimate compared to the barns of some downtown restaurants. My potato gnocchi was outstanding. Definitely will return next time ism in Portland.

Delicious! The manicotti and kale lasagne were exceptional! Also ordered the kale salad which was really good too. The owner was very helpful helping us choose a wine and our entrees. Would go back in a heart beat!

We were in Italy a while ago, but this was nicer than the Italian food we had there. The waitress recommended the Smoked Salmon Ravioli so we took it, with some lamb shank. We enjoyed every bite :)

We thought the black kale salad & the pistachio pesto pizza, along with the Nero d'avola wine was probably the best meal we enjoyed in Portland . Plus the space is cozy & inviting. Just sorry we don't live in Portland & can come back soon....

We had such a wonderful dinner here. The atmosphere is fun and all their food is made in-house and from scratch. We all got different pastas and they were delicious. The staff was also very attentive.

Absolutely excellent. I don’t remember our waitresses’ name but she had pink hair and she was amazing. The atmosphere and service were immaculate. Definitely recommend the calamari and the carbonara. Cannot say enough about this place. 10/10

Ok - So I recently moved here and have been dying for some great Pizza. Actually just for a nice simple local Italian place. I tried all the known "Cool" "Best" places - blah blah blah.... Eh.......... So I was walking buy and saw a real stone wood burning oven through the window and thought I would try. I ordered a Vodka and tonic with lime - Perfectly made! and a simple classic Basil and cheese and sauce thin crust (its all they do I think) Pizza. Ok - so I used to work in a Pizza place so I know great and good Pizza. This place is the Best in Portland! Hands down. Period. Great................ The servers as well as the owner are totally cool and genuine as well. I am making this my new place to go for small plates as well as just to have a drink - but the Pizza is truly the best I have had here as well as anywhere in the past 5 years. I brought the other half home and my girlfriend who is a total foodie and is from the east coast and she was blown away! I sat there while I ate and watched them make a number of other pizzas and they are classic! Thin and crispy and cook like in a few minutes in the wood burning oven. Seriously - This place is the nicest coolest Italian place in the Pearl! Thanks guys.

We have been there with another couple and got great service from the team and the owner. We ordered garlic stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer - delicious!!! We shared the "Angelina" pizza, and it was perfect ... We definitely coming back and recommending it.

We came across this gem of a restaurant while out walking one evening. It looked warm and cozy, and although the place was busy we were seated very quickly. The food was great - lamb shank and the tomato soup highly recommended. Mariano was our server, and despite being busy he found time to chat with us and make us feel really welcome. He recommended the Eola Hills pinot noir with the lamb, and the combination was great. We highly recommend this restaurant - great service, good atmosphere, and delicious food!

Travelling solo and were here last night and had a great pizza and the goats cheesecake was lovely. Good friendly service and had a good chat with the owner

Heading back to our hotel we happened upon this little spot on the corner. The place next door was packed so we decided to try Piattino and boy did we score! We shared the wonderful Organic Arugula & Apple salad then my friends ordered pizzas and I enjoyed the roasted cauliflower. We loved every bite! We also loved their mojito-like vodka beverage. It was a quiet weeknight and the owner came over to greet us and asked how we found his restaurant; a lovely gentleman who thanked us for stopping in.

On foot in Portland Pearl district, stumbled on Piattini (for "small plates"). Looked attractive and we weren't disappointed. Designed for small plate sharing, food recommendations were on target and tasty. We split two plates for a light dinner with a glass of wine. We sprang for dessert based on quality of core food dishes but were disappointed in dessert. Service was friendly, good. We'd go back. About $40.

The waiter was very friendly and very attentive. For this reason I considered giving it two stars - but the whole experience puts it at one. The waiter messed up our order but politely and quickly fixed it. The owner then came out to point out what the waiter had done and embarrassed him further. The owner is the small guy strutting around, interfering and unsuccessfully trying to befriend customers (creepy with awkward silence). We got the Potato gnocchi which was a very small dish and average in taste. The mushrooms were literally chewy and inedible. Pizza was lacking in topping and tasteless. Even my 6 year old left some - which is previously unheard of. Too many other choices to choose this one!

I have visited the Pearl for the last 3 years. I can’t believe I haven’t been here. 1st class food, 1st service extremely affordable. The mushroom ravioli is to die for.

My family goes here at least once a month. It's in downtown pearl district, and room is limited. Staff seems to be in continuous transition because we always see new waiter or waitress every time. Service can be slow, drinks are not cheap, and dinner is expensive for the portion. Seafood is generally good. We have ordered numerous entrees, but the one I usually go back to is the Black pastas, the best dish here in my opinion. For appetizers, we usually go for the crostini, and the meat/cheese plate. For two adults and 1-child, the dinner bill is around $90 without tips or drinks. Add parking and tips, your out $120. Service is slow, and seatings is limited. Decor is very nice, but too bulky. They could serve more people if they change the furniture.

Just wanted a quick pizza to share and have always enjoyed pear and prosciutto pizza. This was without a doubt the best we have ever eaten. Beautiful crust, great cheese and generous prosciutto. Well done to pizza chef.

Piattino is a nice little Italian restaurant in downtown Portland. The menu is not very extensive, but does provide a good little variety of Italian dishes. When we arrived, we were promptly seated, and we had our orders taken relatively fast. There was then somewhat of a wait for our drinks and our food. After finishing our meal we were not checked on by our waitress, and were not presented with our check for over 15 minutes. We were not even asked if we wanted dessert, the bill was just dropped off by someone who was not our waitress, and we paid and left. Overall, the food was ok (nothing spectacular), and the service was very poor. Not necessarily a place that I can recommend. They do not even provide the traditional bread/starter courses I am accustomed to from Italian restaurants.

Hand made noodles, wood fired pizza and a most excellent lamb shank. Delightfully fresh and tasty. nice wood interior, small and intimate. Yummy desserts too.

Good menu selection. Many vegetarian selections. Good sized portions. Staff courteous and attentive. Great choice for lunch.

Our lunch was delicious, fresh, and beautiful. We were delighted with the black kale and arugula apple salads. Both were fresh, beautifully presented and delicately dressed in excellent house-made dressings. Everything on the menu is made from scratch and the atmosphere is very European. Sidewalk atmosphere is currently hampered by road construction, but that should improve in a few days. We'll definitely be back.

Ate here recently with my wife for dinner. They have a pretty good menu and particularly the meat and cheese plates are excellent apps - the cocktails are also pretty good. Nice selection of traditional Italian pasta, pizza and entrees. Definitely worth a return trip

I went here on a Friday night. It was crowded and the waitress was very busy. She did her best to take care of me. I ordered a cheese plate, the ravioli and a mojito. Everything I ordered was very good. I would eat here again. Located in a fun neighborhood- the Pearl District.

Does not honor entertainment-free pizza from T mobile. Enjoys the free advertising and unsuspecting customers asked him to conspicuously post his nonaffiliation He. Said that's Great idea but has failed to perform simply slimy

Great wines, awesome stuffed mushrooms, amazing truffle and potato ravioli, tasty salmon and crab ravioli. Will definitely come back.

Amazing food. Fresh with a wonderful ambiance. The Black pasta with seafood was to die for. The sauce was with s hint of pepper the seafood fresh. We also had the Tuscan salad and the dressing was one of the best we've ever had.

This is my first time visiting Portland Oregon. We were static to find this little gem. Food and service were great!! We had the Tuscan salad, lentil soup and linguini ( homemade pasta) and meatballs. Everything was prepared just perfectly. Customer service was very pleasant. Next time I am in Portland I will make sure to pay this place a visit!

I've been there with my friends and I must admit I was suppriesed by the quality of food. I took starter, soup, ravioli and tiramisu and everything was perfect. Waiter even timed everything right, so we always got our food together. Prices are very affordable, even going all crazy won't leave you with empty pocket. I highly recomended this place.

Enjoyed a very pleasant evening with friends. The food was excellent, the service was impeccable, thank you Zachary! We will be back!

Had dinner with my family last night. Met the owner and dedicated to please. Food was excellent and fresh ingrediaents. Not your typical italian fare. The Roasted cauliflower was very good and so was the trufle ravioli. Would highly recommend this place. Owner was very active and pleasant. He took good care of us

This little restaurant is greatly underrated. Everything from the service to the food is top notch. We had a couple appetizers and entrees. Everything was delicious. The staff and owner were extremely friendly. If I lived in Portland this would be a regular stop for me.

Pit stopped here for a beer and a snack. What a gem! Very small place but worth it! Everything from the coasters to the plates to the atmosphere was great! Very attentive staff and excellent customer service.

The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable with natural wood walls and warm lighting. The food was amazing. Hot and fresh and amazing flavors. The staff was professional and helpful. The cocktails were delicious as well. We had a great experience here from start to finish. Had we been in town longer, we would have gone a second time.

Just walking by on a Saturday night. It's a VERY small place. It seemed a little disorganized as we waited, and we couldn't seem to get a drink. (Next time, we'll take more initiative now that we are friends!) They apologized several times for the wait, and we were glad we stayed. Food was excellent, and reasonably priced. Wood-fired pizzas were interesting, and very Italian. Person who ordered the lamb shank was very pleased. The beer and wine menu is not extensive, but good quality, variety and price. It appears to be a family operation, and owner made a point to visit each table. We will do again, for sure.

Interior was done by the owner and his son using reclaimed materials. Very warm feel to the place. Very attentive owner comes around and greets everyone. You can tell he has a love and passion for his place. The food is excellent...Italian, Sicilian, with Northwest flavors and style.

Visiting Portland and checking out some of the local restaurants/bars while waiting for a friend. Was really enjoying the atmosphere. The bartender, Felicia, was adorable and super attentive as was the one other server, whose name I didn't catch but she appeared to be fairly new. There wasn't an official host and some customers walked in and seated themselves. This was not at all cool with the owner. I knew this because I witnessed him chastise the sweet little server. Apparently she's supposed to wait tables and seat guests simultaneously. I highly respect people in the service industry and what happened really bothered me so I started to write a TA review. I don't really enjoy writing bad reviews so I stopped and decided to just tell him how I felt instead of blasting him here. I thought it would be more fair to give him a chance to defend his actions. Well, that went over like a lead balloon. He not only denied what I (and a few other guests) saw, but went on a rant about how the customers "disrespected" him by seating themselves. (Here's a tip ... don't be such a tight wad and hire a hostess if it's that big of a deal!) He didn't want to hear a word I was saying and was completely rude and angry. He was obviously offended that a woman would dare stand up to him. I would never patronize this place again and I really hope those girls realize they don't have to work for a chauvinist like that. Girls ... if you need a recommendation for a new job, I'm here for you. RUN NOW!!

A very nice Italian restaurant in Portland. Limited seating makes it all the more enjoyable. Excellent breads and cocktails..highly recommend Bloodshot, Sidecar, Sweet and Spicy Tini and Coastal Storm . The vegetarian scampi and gnocchi were very good and the risotto fairly good. Intend to go back often to taste all their offerings. There are several vegetarian options that looked very tempting. Service was prompt and A+.

We really enjoyed the food here. It was fresh and perfectly cooked. There's nothing like a hand made fresh pasta!!! yum! We had the meat and cheese board, which was great, you actually pick your own from a huge list of options. Then shared some pastas and meat dishes. They were all hot and perfectly cooked. The service, however, was a bit off. They forgot to bring us our appy (we reminded them after about 30 minutes), we specifically wanted it before dinner, but it ended up coming with dinner... which was a bummer, but not the end of the world. Then they forgot one of the main course dishes, which arrived later after we pointed it out. Nothing was done really to compensate... a weak, 'oh sorry'. We didn't expect anything 'free' because of their mistakes, but the apologies seemed insincere. We were there later in the evening, so it was slower, which is weird that so much got forgotten, but nevertheless, we had a great meal! This would hands down be a 5 star meal, but the service seemed a bit lacking in the end. Owner was very friendly though, chatty. He came and sat down next to us for a bit, which was cool, very personal.

Big selection of Italian favorites with a few great twists! We are visiting from San Francisco and found this great spot.

Delicious food! Great wine! This is a hole in the place, very small, but is excellent! We got a cheese board, the gnocchi and pasta combo and everything was wonderful! The owner was there and was very helpful and had excellent recommendations.

First visit was spontaneous on a busy Friday night. But it was worth the wait. Everything on the menu is homemade. The owner is present & seats you, mixes drinks, keeps the staff on their toes & checks in with patrons for their opinions. The environment is chic, cozy, contemporary. Food is outstanding. We had hors d'oeuvres & multiple entrees. Each was perfection & hot! Savored every bite. Mixed drinks well done too. I live in Charleston which is a Foodie Town as well but we don't have anything like Piattino's in Portland!!

Every place can have an off night but when the owner/head chef (not sure which, he was a man walking around with a white apron on) started in on how we didnt understand how hard it was to run a restaurant, (he should come do my job for a day, I work with special need students he has know idea what hard is) that pretty much sealed the deal as the worst restaurant in PDX in our opinion. The only reason I gave them a poor and not a terrible was because the cheese and salami board was so good. It was the service that was horrid. First the server came by 7 times while we told her we were waiting for our last party member. But once they arrived it took her 25 minutes to come back to us. She forgot the rest of our cocktails, and one of our dishes didnt come out until the rest of us had finished eating. I believe service is half of running a restaurant. And that half failed at this place.

Came to this place in May with a couple friends after a visit to a local bar. After spending the day in Portland, we wanted some pizza around the downtown Portland area. We decided to try this place since they were able to seat us on a Memorial Weekend Saturday night. With ordering two pizzas and an appetizer, the food was delicious and the staff was friendly. Definitely the pizzas are worth sharing if you have a big party. I wouldn't mind dining at this place again.

Great place to dine. The outdoor seating was nice and plenty of room to spread out. Waitress was very attentive and when I couldn't decide on a cocktail, she said she'd surprise me. And she did! WIth a great drink - Fresh lemonade, grapes and Absolute Vodka. I let her "surprise" me a second time! My dining partner and I both had appetizers. She had the beet and turnip salad and savored every bite. I had the crostini plate with 4 different toppings on the bread. Every one was amazing with differing flavors. Wouldn't have changed a thing with my drink, appetizer or entree.

The good food was complimented by the great service. A great spot to sit outside and people watch, as it is a central location walkable to much of the downtown Portland area. The owner made it a point to visit each table to ensure the food and service met expectations. The outdoor area is pet-friendly.

My wife and I had a fabulous lunch at Piattino today. The fettuccine with pesto and poached egg was superb. My wife had the cauliflower appetizer served in a spiced yogurt and loved it. I hate cauliflower, but found this presentation delightful! She also had a wonderful arugula salad. We plan to return in the near future for dinner, as the menu looks terrific. We love Italian food, and found that Piattino stands apart the typical Italian restaurant.

This is a tiny place on a busy corner. Predominately pasta, pizza and small plates. I would rate it higher but the pizza I had was very salty and for thin, fire oven-baked crust was a bit bready. Service was excellent, owner stopped by to see how we were doing. I would recommend for casual, non-pretentious atmosphere in the Pearl District at a good $$.

Very quaint restaurant. Stopped in for a quick bite before walking back to home base. We ordered a cheese and meat tray plus marinated olives. It was very good. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. Go. You won't be disappointed.

I was wandering around this neighborhood looking for something good to eat when I noticed this restaurant and checked out the menu. I found some interesting items and liked the small bistro vibe. I wasn't disappointed. My pasta dish had the exact Italian flavors I was craving with a touch of innovative flavors as well and the excellent Piedmont red complemented it wonderfully. During my vacation I returned two more times to have the same pasta dish and wine, it was that good. My server was fine, though a bit stretched thin on busy nights. What others say about the owner is somewhat true -- I saw him trying to be helpful at times and other times being overbearing. But I mostly just ignored him. I was there for the excellent food and wine. Would definitely return and recommend to others.

I rarely give a restaurant five stars, but Piattino deserves it. Food, service, and ambiance all combined. Note: this is a small restaurant;table seating is limited. First is the food. My wife had the crab/smoked salmon ravioli, and I had the lamb ragu pappardelle. The ravioli was well filled with crab, and the smoked salmon tasty. My pappardelle had properly made and cooked house made noodles. The ragu was very flavorful, although, i wished the lamb had been cut into slightly smaller chunks. The tiramisu was ample for two. Entre prices are about par with current good Portland restaurants. I did think, comparatively, that my pint of beer was a bit pricey. As the man next to our table (who had a family living in Italy) that this was as good as he and his wife has found outside central Italy

New place for us but a repeat for our friends. Everything was carefully prepared and excellent. Soup was superb as were salads and entrees. Should have asked for another piece of bread to get the last bit of tomato sauce from the black pasta. Will go back for lunch and dinner. The owner obviously cares a lot about what he does.

Went here for dinner. We were seated immediately, rather than waiting 45 minutes to eat at deschutes brewery around the corner. The weather was nice, so we took advantage of the outdoor seating. I can't speak highly enough of the service. Courteous and just the right amount of presence without being overbearing. Also, who I presume to be the owner was present and engaged with the diners. He was a true Italian, which added to the experience. I got a seafood stew (can't remember the Italian name, for shame), and my date got the gnocchi. The food was beautiful, and the sauces were deciduous. I don't think they tasted quite as good as they looked! The gnocchi were a little bland. The shrimp in my stew was tough. And for. $20 dish, I didn't feel like I got much in the way of a protein. Like I said, very rich, flavorful sauces though. We ended with a tiramisu. I'm not a dessert combo sure, but my date said it was top notch. I liked this restaurant more for experience/ambience than to-die-for food. But it is all around very satisfying!

I stopped by for drinks and was welcomed by the owner and hostess! It was close to closing time, so was they were able to welcome me to Portland and lead me to a couple places to tour! We all had a great conversation and I would definitely come back in the future!

My husband and I wanted to try a restaurant that we have not been to before and wanted pizza. We were seated quickly, unfortunately we watched waitstaff go by our table dozens of times. After 15 minutes of waiting I made eye contact with a waiter that may have been the owner. He was apologetic and took our order. We waited and waited again. A very unprofessional waiter laughingly joked that our pizza went to someone at their outside seating and it would be a few more minutes. We finally were able to eat. It was a good pizza. The same older waiter, maybe owner was again very apologetic for the long wait. In the meantime, the unprofessional waiter used the back of his hand to smack my husband's arm and said, "are you done with that", meaning the plate our pizza came on. The bus boy started removing my husbands napkin and glass from the table while he was in restroom, without asking if we were finished. He then took my napkin and glass while I was still drinking and using my napkin. I told him I was still drinking and he was about to put it back on the table, I said, "please don't", his finger was inside my glass! He said he was sorry and asked me if I wanted another. I said, "no". We left but did not leave a tip. We had planned on ordering a bottle of wine but lost interest after waiting to be acknowledged. 15 minutes is a long time after being seated to be acknowledged by a waiter. Not sure if we will go back even though the food was good. We go out for the full experience of going out to dinner, which is a decent waiter and good food.

There were 10 of us and on a Friday night in Portland - that's not a good number, especially at 7:45. But the super nice owner of Piattino promised us - at 4 that afternoon - that he could work something out. Now my friend and I had already been turned down at four other restaurants in the Pearl District, and we entered Piattino with little hope because it's small. But it was charming inside and the owner assured us he could handle it. And he did - somehow the three people at the table for four next to the table of six had three courses in record time without it seeming rushed. Several of our party waited a bit in the bar area, bonding over booze - how pleasant! and then with the tables pulled together, we had our ten with only a fifteen minute wait for those who came last to the party. Perfectly civilized. And the food was delicious. I had the pizza I had been craving all day. Plus a wonderful beet salad. Shared desserts included a goat cheese cheese cake and a tiramisu which one at the table said was better than his mother's. Heresy. Our waiter was cute, friendly and efficient. From Bolzano and so Italian. Kudos to the owner for making a difficult situation work quite seamlessly. Warm and inviting with excellent food - what more could you want - well less rain, but it's Portland.

Very good. Not very busy overall. Great and flavorful food. Got a tomato soup, potato gnocchi with pork ragu and an affogato. Very tasty

We stopped at Piattino for lunch. It was a gorgeous day, so almost all customers, including us, chose to eat at the sidewalk tables. My wife and I really don't eat very large portions, and we were quite happy with the portion size here. The menu items are creative. We each had a selection from the salad section of the menu, and shared them with each other. Absolutely delicious, and amazingly fresh! We are planning a trip back at dinner time to try the pizza from the wood-fired oven.

Piattino is what makes the Pearl District something special. It has a comfortable, rustic atmosphere and did a great job following the Pandemic rules. Excellent service. We really liked our mushroom/fennel sausage and smoked salmon/lobster raviolis. We started with the warm olive appetizer which included really good bread, roasted tomatoes and a tapenade. We had a great time!

I met with several friends to have a small meal before a theater showing and was very pleased with the meal and service. I had the Tuscan salad which was excellent. We shared a Smoked Sausage pizza that was also very good, thin crust baked to perfection. I will definitely go back and enjoy a more leisurely meal!

We had meatballs, soup and pizza along with watermelon martini. Great fresh food. Would definitely come back and/or recommend this place.

We'd booked a table at the nearby Jake's but the check in for the table was chaotic and we were rather put off by the tired looking dessert tray and so left to find somewhere else to eat - we'd see Piattino's when out walking round the Pearl District a couple of days earlier and so thought we'd give it a try. What a great decision! For starters we chose from the selection of cheese and salumi (4 selections for USD 21 served with toasted bread, pickles, 7 year old garlic with balsamic and tomato salad), for mains we both chose the potato gnocchi served with a delicious pork ragu and for dessert we both had the home made tiramisu. Everything was absolutely scrumptious - we're only sorry that we're leaving Portland tomorrow and so won't get a chance to sample more of the menu as so much sounded wonderful. Service was prompt and sweet. Surroundings are casual and relaxed. This is a lovely place. If you're in this super city do search it out. Our bill for the shared starter, 2 entrées, 2 desserts and 2 glasses of champagne came to USD 93 before service - incredibly reasonable for food of this quality.

We came across Piattino through Yelp when our first choice had a 30 minute wait at 8PM on a Saturday. The restaurant was small but packed, so we were seated at a tall table and ordered our drinks and appetizer. Shortly after, 3 regular tables cleared, and the wait staff was happy to oblige our request to move. The wine was delicious, my husband had the lamb (fabulous!), and my friend & I both got the Fra Diavolo (a little spicy, but fantastic!). We all shared a bread pudding, which was a perfect ending to our meal! The owner came to our table shortly after our entrees arrived and again before dessert. He was a delightful man, and no one seemed upset that we didn't leave until shortly after closing time.

My husband and I were looking for somewhere to eat one evening, and everywhere we walked past either was crowded or just didn't appeal. Then, we turned the corner and discovered Piattino, and it looked so warm and inviting that we knew we had to try it. This restaurant is a small gem. Beautiful plates, perfect portions, and amazing flavors. My husband had an Angelina pizza, and it was as good as we've had in Italy, with fresh ingredients and a perfect crust. I had a divine fettucini dish, where the pasta was tender and perfectly cooked, and the taste was amazing. For dessert, we tried the pear and goat cheese cheesecake --- and if you see this on the menu, make room for a piece. The flavor and texture are unusual and subtle, and we finished every bite. To sum up, a small place, warm and welcoming, with perfectly portioned, freshly made, authentic dishes. A real treat!

Pretty good Italian restaurant in the Pearl. Cozy atmosphere and decent service. The black pasta was delicious. Only negative is the parking which is always a challenge in this area.
Homemade fresh superb
We shared many dishes between us. Everything was delicious and fresh, homemade and really really tasty The server was great The wine selection is great The owner was there cooking and making pizzas in his wood fired oven We really appreciate the hard work put into this really good menu and the quality instilled
