The outdoor patio is very quaint and nice and I was hoping for a really great dining experience when we sat down. And thank goodness they had an outdoor area because inside was colder than an icebox. I would never go eat there inside in the summer. The air conditioner had to be set to about 50 degrees. It was THAT bad. But again...the outside patio is very charming and you'll want to sit out there. The food was very good, every one at my table seemed to enjoy what they ordered. BUT, from the time we sat down till the time someone took our meal order, it was over an hour! They took our drink order in a timely manner...but then left us there...for an hour. No one even came by to ask if we wanted to order appetizers for table after we got our drinks. Just nothing...no one came back. So an hour later, we finally had our food order taken. Then it took a really long time to get it. I can let that go since we had a group of 10, but on top of the already slow service, it didn't help. Then in order to get our check, yep...we had to flag someone down and ask. Yes the atmosphere outside is really, really nice and the food was good...but there's good food all over Chicago and for the amount of time we had to sit around and wait for service, I doubt I'd go back. Or if I did, I'd be flagging down the waiter when I was ready and not count on them to come to my table.

Wonderful restaurant with a beautiful patio. The straw and hay pasta with veal sauce was superb. Portions are hearty. Service was fabulous.

Piccolo Sogno...aka "Little Dream" is a true gem in the city of Chicago. The patio area is romantic and is surrounded by lush trees and beautiful lighting. A great place for impressing that special someone and the food and service was excellent! So many wonderful choices on the menu. Personal recommendation is the Branzino fish and/or the Pappardelle Cinghiale which was amazing. The roasted pineapple with coconut and caramel dessert was memorable. Corkage fee is $20/btl so bring a favorite and enjoy a special evening with that special someone. You may be in the heart of Chicago but Piccolo Sogno feels like a vacation. Enjoy the food, service and atmosphere. You won't regret it! Enjoy.

Beautiful food in very generous portions! Good variety of preparations - along with some unique twists made for a lovely dinner with friends. Had terrific pasta, excellent lamb chops, fresh salad, calamari on the tasteless side. Flatbread underdone. Delicious dessert. Great selection of wine. Service was OK - had to keep asking for white wine to be poured.

Truly a culinary and dining experience. Weather permitting, sitting outside in the courtyard is on of the most delightful dining experiences I have had in the United States. Reminds me of sitting in a courtyard in New Orleans. The food was outstanding, the service was TOP NOTCH and the Wine Selection was TOTALLY ITALIAN.

We have enjoyed PS many times in the past. Since we hadn’t visited in a while, we dined there last night. This restaurant can no longer be labeled as fine dining. The nice high back chairs have been removed in favor of something more like patio furniture. I’m sure this was so that they could cram more diners into their space. The noise level feels more like a beer hall than a nice dining experience. We practically had to be cheek to cheek with our waiter to communicate. The food is okay but not special in light of the football game atmosphere. We never mind paying for extraordinary food, service, or experience, but the $7 charge to share a salad was the ultimate turnoff. We won’t be back.

Tony Priolo is one heck of a great chef. His Italian menu is filled with the classics but also wonderful creative additions. His style is clean, fresh and seasonal. When you go there, you must have the Buffalo Mozzarella. It is the best this side of the ocean. Today he served it with Heirloom tomatoes and basil. On the tables sit the most delicious Balsamic Vinegar. Just a little drizzle over the tomatoes and mozzarella and our table almost fought each other for the last serving. Then Chef brought out a mushroom and cheese pizza with the crispy thin dough perfectly warmed. My guests ordered the breaded chicken sandwich (it was lunchtime), red snapper (daily special), ravioli and seafood "Griglia". Everything was cooked to perfection. At lunch there is complimentary valet parking that made it even better. The patio at Piccolo Sogno is one of the best in Chicago. On a nice 80 degree day, there is no place better to be. You can tell when a Chef respects his servers, because they work hard to showcase their Chef. I love Piccola Sogno. It is not a new place, but is one of the best. It is not a crazy influx of people but a calm wonderful environment to enjoy delicious food and a glass of wine. I wish I had ordered a glass of Montpulcino, but it was lunch time and I did have to go back to work. So tempting to sit outside and sip a glass of wine for the rest of the afternoon. I will be back time and time again. Love this place too much.

The best food, best service, best environment and patio. What more can I say. Have been there many times. This time had the octopus…phenomenal. Something for everyone and everyone and everybody is top notch

My husband and I went to Piccolo Sogno for dinner, to celebrate our 49th anniversary. We made reservations and in doing so, attempted to reserve our table on the outside patio. This was a bit confusing, we were told we HAD the reservation but the patio was a maybe. So I'm not sure how exactly that is handled. (And other reviewers have mentioned a similar problem; if they don't allow you to reserve specifically on the patio, they should tell you that plainly.) As it turned out we were seated outside and from then on the evening was lovely. It's a beautiful setting, the weather was perfect and the food was amazing. Vodka maritinis were generous, and our carpaccio apptetizer was very good. We ordered the branzino and the beef short rib for our main courses, both were fabulous. The branzino in particular was a standout. For dessert we ordered the panna cotta which was also delicious. The plate was decorated with an anniversary greeting in chocolate. I might suspect that it was "on the house," but I can't say for sure as - a complete surprise to us - our check was covered in advance by our son and daughter-in-law, so I don't know if we were given the dessert or charged for it. Either way it was a really enjoyable evening and we hope to return to Piccolo Sogno often!

Went on a Saturday night. Arrived on time and were seated promptly. This was our first visit and when we went to our table outside it was as advertised. Very cute setup outside on the patio. A lot of greenery, good lighting, like eating in a garden. They do get slot of tables/people there was it almost has a indoor atmosphere/energy while being outside. For food, we started with the burrata which was very good. I’ll admit there isn’t much burrata I don’t like. I was between the 2 Ragus and I went with the the veal Ragu. It was very good as well. My personal preference would be for there to be some tomato in the ragu this was meat and veg. It was very good though. We finished with the tiramisu and lemon cello. The real highlight is the outdoor dining and not feeling at all that your in the city.

Amazing amazing amazing! First time here in 2 years and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend the veal pasta dish - light but filling. Paired with a glass of Nero D’Avola and it was the perfect meal. Excellent service as well .

If the weather is nice, the best seating is on the patio. Very comfortable outside in the evening in the summer. Great Italian cuisine. We had beef carpaccio, stuffed squash blossoms, risotto with mushrooms, shell fish and fish stew, and shared two desserts, one chocolate and one the Italian version of "mille feuille". All within walkable distance of our downtown (River North) hotel.

Before we talk about the food, the restaurant had a lot of problems up front. -- The seating arrangement was horrible; tables too close together so you sat back-to-back with strangers in very uncomfortable proximity -- The table wobbled so that neither of us could cut anything without spilling wine -- There was an assortment of unpleasant breads: one like cornbread made with wheat flour, and one under-salted and over-baked Italian loaf, like chewing through armor -- Coffee with dessert was served lukewarm These problems would have spoiled our experience even if the food had been outstanding. It was not, though not terrible. -- Beet salad was very good, would have been even better without orange slices -- "Fiori di Zucca" was great, an unexpected treat -- Ravioli "Piccolo Sogno" was tremendously butter-forward, like eating a stick thereof. Once the butter was scraped away the raviolis were underfilled. This had none of the delicacy we would expect from fine homemade pasta. -- Pappardelle with wild boar was decent peasant food, dominated by a heavy pasta with not much sauce. -- Chocolate hazelnut cake was delicious. All in all, the food was decent but couldn't begin to make up for the other problems with the experience. We advise you to refuse seating if assigned a table for two along the wall.

Had a wonderful meal here on a warm and pleasant September evening. Ordered a couple of small plate pasta dishes and a bottle of wine, plus dessert. Since then, I have wanted no other pasta from a box. Only homemade will do. The dishes were expertly prepared and stayed hot. The service was friendly and not too intrusive. You could tell everyone on the large patio was having a great time.

I was very disappointed. My friend and I went for restaurant week. We were seated in a tent, and we had to shout to hear each other. The service was uneven. They were friendly but forgot to bring my friend part of her order. The minestrone was okay, but the Cornish chicken was too dry and basically inedible. It was supposed to come with a wine sauce. That didn’t happen. The pannecota was okay as well. I wouldn’t return. Chicago has many quieter, high quality Italian restaurants. I don’t understand the hype about this place. It appeals to a crowd that thinks if you pay a lot you get better quality. Money can’t buy you class or a good dinner.

I had high expectations from this place and spent a ton on Uber to get here and I couldn't have been more disappointed. The food was okay at best: "meh" sums it up. I've traveled extensively throughout Italy and dined at great Italian restaurants around the world. Based on what I expected this to be one of the best; as our anniversary dinner place, it was a huge letdown. It was also the only restaurant that didn't acknowledge why we were there in the first place!

First wine we requested, a $160.00 2016 Brunello di Montalcino was oxidized. The somelier didn't want to acknowledge it at the beginning. The second wine, a $185.00 2018 Barollo was better, but it should have been "wow" not just better. The octopus was soft and mushy and tasted everything but fresh. We didn't eat but it was charged none the less. The pasta was not "al dente" The veal milanese was fried in a slightly rancid oil. We can not reccomend this restaurant.

We had this evening what might be the best service we have had in 5 years. But wait, that is not all. The entrees were great, especially the cod, and the desserts too., especially the lava cake. Only ok items were the fried calimari, and the ravioli. Both needed something. 4.5 stars.

Brought my Italian mother here when she was visiting for Thanksgiving. We’ve been meaning to try for a while and overall we were impressed. It was a Saturday night and super busy. As a previous reviewer noted, tables are a bit close but that is what you have to do to make it in a restaurant today - especially in Chicgao. We were initially seated in the patio area which we didn’t love and asked to be moved into the dining room and the staff was super accommodating. We were a bit taken aback by the people and noise at first but i noticed online that they tend to only have reservations on the half hour and it seems like there is an influx of guests getting seated (and others exiting) but after that things settle down a bit. They have a large staff and while the service may seem chaotic at times, it’s organized chaos and they pull it off. It definitely helps that there is a maitre d floating around to ensure everything is taken care of - that old school approach works! The food was excellent and exceeded our expectations. The wood fired mushroom appetizer is unique and had great flavor. We all ordered specials for entrees and were not disappointed. I had the whole Branzio and it was perfectly cooked, super moist and the flavor of the kosher salt on the skin seasoned it perfectly, it didn’t even need the sauce they served on the side. My recommendation is to ask for the whole fish and filet yourself so the moisture stays in. The Ossobucco was nicely done and my mother approved although she thought the sauce was not as good as her own (i thought it was pretty close but wasn’t going to say). The only thing i didn’t like about it was that it was on top of mashed potatoes instead of polenta or saffron risotto but that could just be playing to local tastes. My wife had the white truffle pasta with egg that was good and reasonably priced (by white truffle standards) although my preference would have been for dried pasta over their homemade - which may seem counterintuitive but i think the dried stands up better. We ended with the ricotta cheesecake which is the highest bar for my mother and she was impressed especially since it had orange essence like her own rather than lemon which is more typical. Overall, a very good dinner. Busy? Yes, but for good reason and the team there manages to pull it off.

Off the beaten restaurant path, tucked away on Halstead St. Valet parking at front door for $10. Made reservations for Tuesday 6:30, the dining room filled in quickly. Excellent service and delicious food. We ordered the salmon entree & risotto with lamb stew. For dessert we enjoyed Limoncello & a trio assortment of chocolate/strawberry/pistachio gelato.

I’m telling you this restaurant hit every note perfectly. Wonderful service, wines to accompany your selections and a romantic atmosphere to enjoy your dinner. We loved the creative dishes the chef prepared from common ingredients to produce a variety of uncommon combination of flavors. One of our favorites was the crab ravioli and the calamari served in an artichoke to mention a few. If you enjoy Italian food with a creative twist this is the place you want to be.

We were visiting the city and invited to dine with friends on the patio. The patio was lovely on a pleasant July evening. The salad of arugula, pears and chevre was lovely. The friends raved about the branzino. It was delightful, perfectly cooked to a delicate texture, seasoned by a mix of sweet citrus, tangy capers and artichoke hearts. The wine, from Montepulciano was delightful, as was the berry sorbet. Kudos.

The food doesn't have much taste - it is pretty bland. The only good thing about this place is the atmosphere outside but it isn't worth the money. There are many great Italian restaurants in Chicago but this isn't one of them.

A wonderful experience and outstanding food and service! Highly recommended!! A must go to restaurant experience in Chicago for business and pleasure. Relaxing and truly wonderful!

What a find...our second day in Chicago and this place made us feel more than welcome. My sister and I were seated in the large garden patio amid gorgeous flowers and foliage on a warm spring afternoon. We shared delicious antipasto including yummy burrata, then followed with two classics perfectly executed: veal piccata al limone and squid ink linguine tutto mare. Nearby other tables were hosting grad and other celebrations. But this isn’t a fussy place for “special occasions” only. More like an old-school charmer still keeping its palate up to date with unbeatable servings of deserved classics. Sparkling rosé and dessert rounded out a memorable experience. Bellisimo!

When wanting some delicious Italian pasta dishes, this is the place! Fantastic food with a calm vibe. The black pasta seafood dish is not only quality but the quantity is also plenty. I've heard complaints that the dishes are small. I do agree that some of the dishes should have more food on them but this was not the case with the seafood pasta. Here are the reasons why I would not give this place 5 stars. 1. Small portions of ravioli as well as a few of the appetizers. 2. No olive oil or parmesan cheese served with the bread at the table. 3. They present you with choices of water. We know the water in the city is terrible so the obvious choice would be a Sparkling. It would be helpful for them to mention that sparkling is an extra charge before receiving the shocking price of sparkling water on the bill Will go back for seafood pasta.

Great, energetic atmosphere; great service; great food; nice Italian wine list. What's not to love? Make a reservation. Relax outdoors and enjoy your meal.

Our first visit to Piccolo Sogno was a great disappointment. Given the excellent reviews, we had high expectations for an exceptional dinner. The restaurant features a gorgeous outdoor patio, a creative menu, and a really well thought out wine list. We both ordered salads, which were very good. Then we waited…..and waited…..and waited. After about 45 minutes (during which other diners who arrived later than we did had already finished their meals), I went to speak to the manager to ask him to please check on our meals. A few minutes later our food arrived which, unfortunately, was room temperature. We informed our waiter who took them away reluctantly and brought them back shortly thereafter much warmer. Reheated pasta tends not be nearly as good as freshly prepared. It goes without saying that the meal was not nearly what we anticipated. The most disturbing part of the experience however, was the complete lack of caring by management. No one checked to see if we were satisfied, nor was the any adjustment to the bill (which I did request). I guess when you have a full room and difficult to get reservations, customer service and patron satisfaction are unimportant. One dining out truism……… Restaurants, which don’t care about their guests’ experience, tend to have more readily available reservations over time. I fear that may happen here.

The food is amazing here... best calamari we've had. Loved our main dishes... rigatoni, short ribs, pizza. All very tasty. There are multiple servers and they all did a great job. But... we had a bday celebration which I told the restaurant in advance. Now, usually restaurant sends a small plate of dessert w candle on it. What they did was put candle on a dessert that someone else in our party ordered and gave it to the bday person (not free). So we had to order a new dessert plate and was charged for both. This is not how you do business...

Went to this place on a recommendation and boy am I glad we did. First the greeting at the stand was so friendly. The patio is just one of the best. The service & server were well informed understanding and just willing to please. Now the food, exquisite everything was terrific great tasting and cooked as it should be. There was no rushing between courses and everything was great.

Checking our restaurants we have always wanted to visit and taking advantage of Restaurant Week in Chicago, we dined at Piccolo Sogno. Starting with delicious cocktails, with wine for lunch, and dessert with espresso, it was an all-around wonderful meal. The cozze, mille foglie, and ravioli were all well presented and tasted perfect. Thank you, Ciro and Tony for a great time with friends.

This is another restaurant that served pretty good food. Due to the spectacular garden area the premises always seem to be filed. The last couple of visits with groups of friends have featured so so service and ordinary food.

One of the best Italian resultants I have been to in the US or Italy. Tony and Ciro have a winner here in one of the great food cities of America. Top notch staff, both knowledgeable and attentive. Food just simply excellent and pricing very reasonable. The pasta is beyond perfect and seafood fresh. Very nice Italian wine list and a stunningly decorated restaurant with the most comfortable and lovely outdoor dining here in Chicago as well as a classic interior space.

This is not the Piccolo Sogno of old. Tables are 6 inches apart, the noise level is deafening, the servers are pushed so hard to handle too many tables that they can’t possibly keep up. The food was great. But some things we ordered never got delivered, we had to ask for Parmesan and pepper (at an Italian restaurant?!!) and bread never got refilled. Trying to flag someone (anyone!) down for anything was impossible! Thymus may be my last time at a place that was always a Chicago favorite….

One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago! Definitely plan on going in the summer when the patio is open. Lights in the trees create a perfect ambiance for a romantic dinner! Service has always been wonderful every time I've been there, whether it's busy or not. Highly recommend the Branzino for dinner, I've ordered it at least 3 times and it has always been spectacular. Also the squid ink pasta seems a bit strange but it's delicious. Can't go wrong with the cantaloupe/prosciutto appetizer if in season. Great wine selection as well! Overall I would HIGHLY recommend!!

My wife and I had dinner here on our last night in Chicago and are glad we’d saved the best for last. The outdoor seating was beautiful as you eat in a garden. The food was really good, especially the fresh pasta.

We ended up coming after being treated rudely at a nearby Italian restaurant. So we really had no idea what to expect. This ended up being my favorite meal while visiting Chicago. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent!

My husband and I ordered from the Chicago Restaurant Week prix fixe menu. He chose bean pasta fagioli soup and the Wild Boar Ragu over fresh pappardelle pasta. He said both were very good. I ordered the winter salad and the salmon over root veggies. The salmon was perfectly prepared, tender and moist. We both had a chocolate mousse dessert. Everything was delicious, including our wine. If you’re looking for authentic Italian, this is it.

Good Italian food in a nice setting. The patio is huge and great for people watching. Service was a little slow but it was 4th of July weekend.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, so when a friend suggested dinner here, I hopped at the chance. For the most part, I really enjoyed it, and look forward to going again in warmer weather, when we can enjoy the patio. I started with a pre-dinner drink at the bar, while I waited for my friend to arrive. The bartender wasn’t particularly friendly, but I got my drink after not too long of a wait, so I’ll count that as a win. For our meal, my friend and I split a few things. I started with the Barbabietole salad, which was absolutely delicious, and quite large. If you like beets I highly recommend it. For our mains, we split the risotto and the braised short ribs. The risotto itself (made with squid ink) was fabulous….rich and decadent. The grilled calamari on top of the risotto…not quite so fabulous. It didn’t seem particularly fresh, and the cooking was irregular…charred bits and not charred bits. I just ate the risotto and left the calamari, but because the risotto was so good, I was actually quite happy with that. Service was pretty good (friendly and attentive) until the end of the meal. One of my pet peeves is having to hunt down a waiter for the check at the end of the meal, and we waited long after we finished our dessert and after-dinner drinks before the check arrived. So, really 3.5 stars in my book, but I’m rounding up, and I look forward to trying them again this summer!!

We have been told, not by anyone associated with the restaurant, that Piccolo Sogno was the favorite dining destination for Rich Daley during his 20-year mayoral tenure. We have sampled the rustic Italian fare on three occasions and we concur with Daley's culinary critique. Especially if you cater to a more fish/less meat philosophy as we do. Located at 464 North Halsted Street, at the busy intersection of Halsted, Grand and Milwaukee, Piccolo Sogno is just as busy. Reservations are a must. Arrive early. Dinner at 5 o'clock, anyone? Any annoyance or inconvenience is worth it. From steak to pasta to seafood to veal to pizza from the wood-burning oven, you won't be disappointed. We don't drink but those who do will appreciate the wine selection of 400 bottles. For starters, my wife and I decided to share Caprese salad with mozzarella, tomatoes, basil and olive oil, Ribollitta soup with twice cooked Tuscan bread and vegetables and Fritto Misto, fried calamari, shrimp, bay scallops sea bass, vegetables, parsley and lemon. For the main course, my wife opted for grilled Loch Duart salmon with vegetables, lemon and garlic and anchovy sauce. I chose the pancetta wrapped, wood-roasted Atlantic cod with garlic, lemon, clams and beans. On a previous visit, we loved the veal scaloppine with mushroom sauce, sauteed spinach and mashed potatoes. For dessert, we shared tiramisu and spumoni. You don't get more Italian than that. FYI, Rich Daley didn't put in an appearance.

We came here on a couple of recommendations and had a very good time. The service and atmosphere were great, but I wasn't overly impressed with the food. We had some burrata, calamari and a butternut squash soup to start. The soup was very good, burrata was fine, but the calamari were not good at all. We also shared among us PAPPARDELLE CON CINGHIALE, SPAGHETTI NERI, MAIALE ALLA MILANESE, and the special pasta of the day which I only recall had sausage. Nothing was bad, but nothing was really that great either.

We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant's outside eating area. Food was delicious. Only negative was that our waiter was a little pushy with high-end wine. He made a very expensive recommendation and while we were making our decision, brought the actual bottle out rather than waiting until we had made our decision. We opted for a less-expensive bottle. Other than that, a great restaurant!

Dinner for 4—$485 with cocktails and a decent bottle of wine We ate dinner in the large backyard patio. The food and service were excellent. Even though there were a couple of large groups the tables were far enough apart so that we had privacy and the sound level allowed for conversations.

Traveling to a conference with two colleagues and we happened upon this restaurant. The food was delicious the halibut was very good. The wine list was extensive and the service was spot on. The best thing about the experience was dining outside under a big tree in the city! After a long day of airport travel - sipping wine, eating and relaxing outside was a great way to finish off the evening.

Celebrated our 34 th anniversary With a epic meal . Breaded veal, halibut , Octopus grilled , peach and arugula salad Start to finish was great . Weather was in upper 70s . Had table outside, it was great Service also top notch #porkmafia

I have been going to Piccolo Sogno, (small dream) since it opened. During the summer months eating outside is a real treat. It is like being on vacation! Right in the middle of Chicago! Honest. The service and food are excellent. The owners and managers are all exceptional. The Sea bass is a key specialty. The pizza as an a nice touch too before dinner. Everything is just excellent. The whole experience is worth it!

True Italian food. Served by staff that know their restaurant. Truly a must try of Chicago. We started with the Proscuitto and melon starter. It was a large serving and delicious! I had the beet salad that was perfectly done and plated. Highly recommend the Ravioli with the perfect sauce.

Located in the broad downtown Chicago area, Piccolo Signo is a very pleasant Italian restaurant. It was quite full (both inside, and outside patio with heating lamps) on a recent October Friday night. The ambiance is nice, and the service good. We enjoyed: Cocktails and wine-by-the-glass (Margarita, and Sauvignon blanc both good) Salads (Autunno, Cavolo kale) good Margarita Pizza - very good (crispy thin crust) Gnocchi - very good Pasta special (tomato sauce, eggplant, chili) - very tasty (and spicy hot) Desserts (panna cotta; warm chocolate cake) - both excellent All-in-all, Piccolo Signo is a delightful Italian restaurant with very good food (at very reasonable prices) located in Chicago (comfortably outside the main heart of downtown hustle bustle) - I’d highly recommend!

This was an extremely terrible all around experience at this restaurant. When our party arrived it was raining and instead of being seated on the covered area on the patio (as we had requested to be seated out there a month ago) we were literally given the absolutely WORST seats in the restaurant. A table for 14 placed smashed along the wall with the head of the table being at the entry to the bathroom on one side and literally placed in the traffic pathway of every patron walking from the bar into the restaurant. Every person that walked past us bumped into our chairs and there was no room to move. This was a surprise engagement party that had been reserved at least a month ago and should have been given priority seating. My future daughter-in-law had no where to place her box of roses and gifts. The manager rudely told her she could not place them in the decorative wall nook and told them to move them. We literally did not even have elbow room or a place to set down the items with that horrible table placement. I was embarrassed by his tone of voice and comments. He then took her items and stored them in the coat closet. They even gave me a chair to sit on that had obviously been on the patio and it soaked my pants and back with water. Why had we not been placed on the covered portion of the patio? Or moved out there once it was again completely opened up? We also specifically notified you in advance that we must be seated by 6:45 pm to maintain the surprise and even though the table was ready, I had to ask and explain the situation to the hostess 3 separate times in order to be seated. Then even the food service was beyond poor. I had called ahead and spoken to the wine steward and we chose the wine that I wanted to be served for a toast upon our arrival. I had to ask a few times to have the wine brought out and it took so long that many of our guests already had ordered other cocktails. One salad and one dessert that were ordered never came out with the other orders and we had to track our waiter down and ask twice to get them. We literally waited well OVER an hour before our dinner was served. I asked the waiter twice to bring out a congratulatory dessert plate for the engaged couple and it was given to the wrong couple! My lamb chops were cold when they arrived and our guests felt the food was mediocre at best. We had such high expectations for your restaurant after reading your reviews and it was such an all around negative experience on a night that should have been such a joyous and special occasion.

Outstanding food. service was just a tad slow, but a great place never the less. Recommendation by son and his wife were spot on. We miss great Chicago Italian food being from central Florida and we were not disappointed. I would recommend this Italian eatery to anyone that enjoys well prepared Italian cuisine. Order the Fried Calamari tender, hot and delicious.

The food was exceptionally delicious in our party of five. The gnocchi was particularly well prepared but all dishes were lovely. Tables are reasonably spaced out, so conversation was easy, and there were a variety of types of clientele there-couples, friends, business colleagues. Valet parking was convenient in this hard-to-park neighborhood. The decor was soft and elegant. I know a lot of people who have recommended this restaurant, and I would as well.

Excellent food and service, neat ambience. Small place with a big time feeling. Loved the food, authentic atmosphere.

We were a group of 24 who dined at Piccolo Sogno for my birthday. What was unique about this restaurant is that there was no minimum spend for a large group and we could all select from the menu vs a pre-set or limited menu. When we arrived, we had to wait a bit for our table but there was a bar people could grab drinks at and plenty of room in the entry way to hang out and chat. We were seated outside which is a beautiful and charming area. It's like sitting in a large garden with lots of string lights that made it a great ambiance. The restaurant was packed even though we arrived at 9:30 and were seated a bit before 10. All the food we had here was amazing and very reasonable priced. The main dishes were mostly under $30 but had very generous portions and were delicious. For appetizers, I tasted the carpaccio, burrata and prosciutto and they were all delicious. For my main course, I had risotto with bolognese and also tasted some of the pastas. Everything was spot on. Others had various pastas, pizzas and meat dishes and were very happy with their selections. What was impressive was that our food came out around the same time even though we were such a large group. I would definitely dine at Piccolo Sogno again. The servers were attentive but the food and outdoor garden ambiance were what made the experience exceptional.

This delightful restaurant has not sought to Americanize their approach to Italian cuisine. Each dish was meticulously prepared with its true root approach. Appetizers to desserts were excellent. The staff was courteous, efficient and professional.

Attentive and active serving staff. Meals prepared and served with precision: I find that the flavor of my meals are unwaveringly as I remembered them from prior visits. Although meals are paired with wine, as is the European custom, one can still walk away with palate primed w/o the enhancing qualities of wine paring.

We ordered pizza and faro salad - a 1st for me. The food was very good and the atmosphere superb thanks to the lovely outdoor setting and cooperative weather. Our server was attentive while not being part of our 'party' - just right.

Another delicious meal here. Especially nice because it was a beautiful evening to eat in their outdoor garden space, which is such a surprisingly nice retreat so close to a very busy intersection in the city. This is the only place I trust to order octopus, because it is tender (not chewy!) and so flavorful from the grill. We were also very happy with our very well prepared branzino. And the very large fritto misto appetizer. Of yes, and the chocolate hazelnut dessert was amazing too. One was enough for a table of three. So very intense!

My friend and I told our taxi driver that we were in the mood for Italian. He suggested Picollo Sogno for authentic Italian food. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a very nice gentleman. The atmosphere was very cozy and welcoming. Our server, Drake, was very nice and efficient. I ordered the kale salad which was very good. I also ordered the gnocchi dish and it was good, but not the best I've ever eaten. My friend ordered the ravioli and stated that it was good, but not her favorite. I guess we aren't used to authentic Italian food. We enjoyed our meal, but will probably try elsewhere next time we are in Chicago. I would like to reiterate that the atmosphere was excellent.

We had an 8pm reservation for a party of 11 on a snowy Saturday night. We managed to get our large party there on time and checked in at 7:55 and were told, and I quote, “We will be with you in a minute”. After a bit of time standing and waiting, we asked the hostess when we would be seated. We were told that they were just seating the 7:30 reservations and it was now 8:15. They said we could be seated in 15 minutes, we could be seated in 1/2 hour. They didn’t know. Management came to the hostess station numerous times, never once making eye contact with us, nor offering an explanation, nor offering us a drink while we waited for our inconvenience. It was like we weren’t there and they thought “If we ignore them, perhaps this mess will all go away”. And trust me, there were 11 of us, standing there in the tiny entrance area for over an hour, how could you ignore that elephant in the room? We continued to ask what the issue was and kept getting excuses. One hostess said they just “implemented a new system”. I finally went in search of a manager. At first he said he was busy but promptly changed his tune and asked how he could help me. His explanation was the weather made earlier reservations arrive late and therefore pushed back the following reservations. This was now 9:10. I don’t know of any restaurants in the busy city of Chicago, that will hold a reservation for that length of time and still honor it. Another person in our party was told that a reservation is not a guarantee. ?!?! We would’ve loved to have had a drink at the bar while waiting however it was so jam packed with patrons waiting for their delayed reservations that you couldn’t even see the bar, let alone walk up to it to order a drink. This situation was handled so poorly, not only for us, but for several other patrons who walked out, never having been seated. We had planned this dinner out for so long and our evening was ruined. Our group ended up leaving at 9:15, frustrated and hungry. We couldn’t find another restaurant in the immediate area to seat 11 of us so we ended up calling it a night and we all went our separate ways...each of us driving back to our respective home towns in the suburbs which were all 1 hour away. This situation could have turned out differently had management come to us from the beginning and explained the situation, apologized for the inconvenience, and made us feel like valued customers. ANYTHING but how we were treated would’ve been a redeeming factor in this situation. As we left, they asked for my phone number and mentioned “we will do something for you”. That was Sat 1/26/2019. Today is Tuesday 1/29/2019 and I still have yet to get a phone call, text or message. However, not so sure I ever want to go back there after how we were treated. There are FAR too many other amazing restaurants in the city of Chicago with outstanding food which also serve large side helpings of outstanding customer service and appreciation for our business. Piccolo Sogno means Small Dream in Italian. This was a Grande Incubo which means Large Nightmare.

Great all around experience! Great service with great food and ambiance. Very good bar selections and well served drinks.

The food and service was excellent. The best tasting Italian food ever. The service was outstanding. The staff keep an eye on our needs all the time. Also, the chef came out to greet us and say hello and we gave him compliments on his food.

This is what a city life could offer. The place is in a modest neighborhood, just cross the street from the blue line station. They just deliver the food. The service is great, adequate, but not pretentious. A very good Italian wine list, as expected. The food is just wonderful. Those meat dishes are spectacular, the slow cooked short rib, osso bucco, and the branzino, the whole fish. When it was time for the desserts, there is just no space left in the stomachs. A great place, back for sure.

I've been here many times, from dinner with friends to anniversary dates to my graduation dinner. The food is always amazing, the service is consistently excellent, and Chef Tony is about as humble and great of a person as I've met in the industry. The apps are always great, including recent favorites Fritto Misto and Fiori di Zucca. The pizzas are all great and can be good to share as an app or have as a personal entree. Every pasta has been delicious, with the Spaghetti Neri a consistent favorite. I could go on and on...just order the whole menu!

Amazing patio!!!! Service was superb great to see Alberto Alfredo Miguel Tony Ciro...and the whole staff. The Maiale is a must...super well done! Back soon.

The ambiance is amazing, especially if you can sit outside. The service is impeccable and will cater to your every wish. They will plate your food family style if you have a group sharing plates. Huge Italian wine list with very affordable, great wine. The piccolo raviolis are a must. The pizza is not a must but still really good if you are in the mood for European style za. My favorite dishes are the branzino and osso bucco!

My friend and I were looking to have an excellent meal, and a long talk. We found the perfect place in Picollo Sogno. She loved her dish of mussels. I was delighted by the light and tasty gnocchi, which were served with an assortment of tasty mushrooms and squash. The salad was generous and perfectly balanced. The atmosphere (we sat indoors) on a weeknight was busy, but there's enough sound absorbing decor to make sure we could hear each other without screaming across our table. The service was attentive, and requests for information about ingredients were cheerfully answered. The only room for improvement was at dessert. We found ours uninteresting and flavorless. It was so boring I can't even remember what we had, which was surprising, given how memorable our meal had been. The wine list is just right for the food offerings. I'm putting it on my list of places to take out-of-town guests for a special meal. They'll think well of my city afterwards. PS On a weeknight, street parking was no problem, but they do have valet parking if you need it.

We had a table of 4 seated outside on the patio. Wonderful evening in Chicago. We were seated immediately, and received our cocktails promptly. The wire was attentive and prompt. We each ordered something different, but all pasta based. Each was excellent. I had the fettuccine with lamb meatballs. The lamb meatballs were unique and bursting with flavor. The area where Piccolo is located is exploding with fine restaurants. Piccolo is one of them, and is filled to capacity as a testament

Five of us went for a girls night birthday celebration! The patio was beautiful just like the photos. The service was excellent. The waiter was knowledgeable, attentive and helpful with menu choices. We shared the antipasto place along with the octopus. Both were very good. In addition the panzanella salad was delicious. We also enjoyed the whole branzino and several pasta dishes. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

This restaurant was very good. The staff was very attentive and the food was very, very good. The wine list was all Italian but since my favorite are Italian wines I dod not mind at all, so I chose a very interesting Terre Nere, Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2013, after my usual pre-dinner Vermouth on the rocks. I began with the Burrata con Pepperoni which was pugliese hand-stuffed mozzarella with roasted bell peppers and white anchovies. Every taste was beautifully balanced and the anchovies were fresh (a nice surprise). Nice start. Next was the Fritto MIsto which was fried calamari, shrimp, bay scallops , vegetables parsley and lemon. It was nice breaded and fried and the lemon is always a nice added flavor. However, the calamari, compared to the other seafood, was abundant. It was good but unbalanced in such aspect. I followed with a pasta, Mezzalune di Zucca: which consisted of local squash with amaretto cookies stuffed pasta, brown butter, sage and walnut. Now , this was a great surprise. Delicious in its simplicity and all the flavor matched perfectly, Great combination of textures. Finally, I had the fish special of a whole Mediterranean Branzino (Sea Bass) with completely cleaned (no 'bones' and filleted') with roasted Fennel. A beautiful culmination for a wondeful meal. My only issue, but not a complaint, is that the quantities were huge. I understand that the Branzino should be for one person en entire fish, since you cannot serve half a fish, but the other dishes were designed for two or three diners. Other than that, the food was very good and you can go i groups of two or more.

Was seated at a 4 person table in a very busy area between the bar and main dining area. Overcrowding at bar placed patrons almost on top of us. They need to remove these two four person tables or at least make them 2 person tables. Duck on menu was not "rested" before being served. Suggest removing from menu if not a popular item. Other members at our table had meals they were satisfied with.

This rivals any Italian restaurant in the Country. The Branzino melted in my mouth. The pastas, fish, and wine were all memorable. It is pricey but packed every night. There are always families including kids. Less romantic than comfortable. Service on point without being intrusive. This is well worth visiting. The waiter can more than help with the large wine list.

You would never know you are in the city when you are out back in their garden patio that is lit up and splendid at night. The service is impeccable, the food is always outstanding and you will be so happy here!

As a New Jersey native, I am spoiled when it comes to real Italian, and frankly have a hard time finding quality Italian food in West Michigan. This - THIS - is the real thing. It looks like nothing from the outside, as it is located on the first floor of an older building whose windows make it look unoccupied. But you walk into chandeliers and fresh flowers and beautiful classic American music, and you can lose yourself even before you look at the comprehensive, authentic menu. Highly recommend the bronzini and the haystack pasta with veal. And on your way to the beautifully appointed rest room take note of the table full of beautiful vegetables and antipasti. This place appeals to all the senses. Mangia!

We visited Piccolo on a busy Saturday night for my birthday dinner. I will start by saying the food quality and portion sizing was really nice and high quality. Unfortunately, great pasta and a good wine selection just isn't enough to set you apart any longer in Chicago. The service was not outstanding. It felt very authentic Italian, so if they're going for classic European style curt service, then they nailed it! My partner and i checked in and waited no longer than 5 minutes to be seated, however when walking to our table the hostess brought us to a four top in the back corner, then awkwardly looked at us saying this wasn't the correct table, but seated us anyway. I had the feeling from there on out that the servers weren't please with the two of us being sat at a four top. I said we'd be happy to move but they insisted we stay. Since current trend in high end dining is shared plates and chefs tasting style menus, our first question to the waiter was how our server recommend we order at Piccolo. All he said was "like normal" and kind of looked at us like we were crazy for asking the question. He then highlighted the fish special, and walked away. The rest of the dinner service was slow and impersonal. Not rude, but not what I would expect from such a well established place. I had the truffle pasta special, my partner had the gnocchi, and we split the calamari and the artichoke. Everything was truly exceptional in taste and quality. My partner had called ahead to ask for a birthday note on the dessert, but when we ordered there was no note or candle. I obviously didn't have any expectation, but she was pretty disappointed. I'd be happy to give it a another go and chalk up the mediocre service to a particularly busy weekend, but I wont go out of my way to come back. Not with all of the other great places to get to in the city these days!

Having been raised in an Italian household my expectations were a bit higher than those of my guests, something was always on the stove filling our home with incredible aroma. Piccolo Sogno dishes had flavor but looked rush in being plated, sloppy is the only word that comes to mind. Seemed a bit expensive for what was on the plates. My biggest issue was the service or the lack of. Our waiter had attitude and let it hang on him like cheap suit. A bus boy accidently spilled a glass a water on the table, these things happen, it's just water... I thought the waiter was going to shoot the poor kid right there, an unnecessary display of anger...embarrassing for everyone. Finding our waiter was another issue. There is better Italian food in Chicago, I felt the food was average, just my opinion. All this said it's a great patio atmosphere, the wine was good and spending time with old friends is good anywhere regardless of the service. I left a minimal tip for the waiter...I put a $20 bill in the bus boy's hand.

We ate on the patio which was a great atmosphere — lights lined the patio and plenty of energy as nearly every table from taken. I ordered the prosciutto pizza and it was very good and my friend ordered the seafood pasta, also solid. The food wasn’t out of this world but the main draw I thought was the outdoor area.

Piccolo Sogno is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago--and it has the best garden/patio dining bar none. -You feel like you're in a swanky Italian hotspot the whole time--the interior is sleek and modern, the garden is lush and elegant--especially when the lights come on at night. -Extensive wine list with many unusual Italian varietals. -Bread with good olive oil and thick balsamic vinegar is always served. -Homemade pastas are delicious--and they often have great specials--my favorite is when they have one with freshly shaved black truffles. -In my opinion, the best thing on the menu is roasted whole branzino--that is first brought out to display to the table, then deboned--served with roasted fennel, capers and grapefruit--simple, clean, healthy and perfect!

A top choice recommendation of our son's friend, a transplant to Chicago. Chose inside dining but suggest the patio for summer dining. Started with stuffed zucchini blossoms(of my gosh), then arugula, feta, and peaches salad (generous, two can share). I selected ink pasta with clams, shrimp, and calamari, my husband a lobster risotto (a 35 minute wait, but who cares when it appears). I am sure the desserts are delicious, but we had to pass. You can hold a conversation in this restaurant. Grand metro station on the Blue lie is literally outside the door. Valet parking at $10.00. Servers are active and professional.

Wow! What a dinner! My husband and I met a friend here for dinner. Their patio is BEAUTIFUL and their food is exquisite. I had the best cocktail OF MY LIFE here (the Amarena), and the wine list is unbeatable. For dinner I had the Linguini Con Gamberi, and it was delicious. The flavors were simply amazing! We had excellent waiters who made sure we had everything we wanted. I will not go back to Chicago without going back to Piccolo Sogno. This is one place NOT TO MISS!

An outstanding Italian restaurant. Despite its location in a "busy" area of Chicago's north side, it is quiet and a beautiful venue. The food is excellent and the wine list broad and deep.

Together with a large group of friends, after a recommendation well placed, we went for dinner. Place is fantastic ! Atmosphere is great, either inside or outside (preferred on summer time). Let me start with service: we were well treated, although some confusion on the language happened during some questions on menu and drink options. Wine and beer were Italian, but later on we found that Heineken was available. On the wine selection, we could have more options. Appetizers were great ! Well served and delicious. Main course same. We ended up asking for a wide variety of different dishes, and everything was great. Price was reasonable, making this a very nice option while in Chicago.

From the street you would never know what is inside the wooden fence. The restaurant interior is nice but when you walk out to the patio area you feel like entering a different world than downtown Chicago. There is an extensive wine list of mostly Italian varietals. The appetizers are good for sharing. Pasta dishes were certainly authentic Italian. My entree with beef short ribs was a different style, but excellent. A chocolate lava cake with hazelnut is a great dessert to split. Glad they have valet parking right at the front door.

Recently in December, once again I enjoyed a wonderful night out at Picollo Sogno. They have a great menue, the food is excellent, and the waitstaff is most attentive.

We have been going to this place for a few years now. It had become one of our favorites. Excellent food and friendly staff. Try the “Straw and Hay” pasta with the veal ragu or the beef short rib - both are excellent! Also, we love the appetizers that the Chef prepares and shares with his patrons!

It doesn't look like much from the exterior, but the open, simple main dining room with dark wood floors and white walls matching the white tablecloths presents a pleasant ambiance. The light from the covered "porch" diffuses the adjacent room with soft lighting, making it a perfect lunch environment...and not so crowded as dinner time. The menu offers an impressive selection from pasta to duck (!), prepared with a creative flair of unexpected ingredients. Salads are fresh and generous enough to share, as well as the appetizers along with the basket of unique breads. The three of us gave the mista salad and burrata con peperoni rave reviews. The entrees were unique. Anatra e spinaci or shaved duck over mushrooms and radicchio dressed with aged balsamic was especially tasty. The maiale alla milanese or breaded pork and the special of orecchi pasa with sausage and rapini were both rich and satisfying with portions destined for a take home box. Desserts looked tempting, but we took a pass, enjoying the dark, rich, smooth coffee as the final chapter of a totally enjoyable lunch experience. Service was attentive, not necessarily friendly. HINT: When we called for reservations, we asked about parking and were told valet parking was $13 or street parking available on Hubbard Street. Hubbard street is only one block south and had plenty of "plate parking" spaces available at $4/hour. However, as we approached the entrance, we noted a sign that valet parking was free at lunch time. It was disappointing that this information was not forthcoming on the phone.

Very crowded place generating a lot of noise that somehow damage a cosy atmosphere. Service is great but the food is way under the expected level for such place. Vine was good but super expensive.

Great food. Great Wine. Waiters were helpful and knowledgeable. There is a fantastic deck with great atmosphere.

Location, service, food....homemade pasta, enough said! We have visited 3 times since summer, always trying something new. We have never been disappointed and have recommended to everyone looking for a new place in the city. Great place for special occasions or a pre-theatre dinner. We were also fortunate enough to visit once in the summer and were surprised at what a beautiful, large back terrace they have.

It's a busy, bustling place. That's because it's so good. Simple dishes, like the risotto with prosciutto and peas I ordered, test the quality of the ingredients and the ability of the chef. For me the dish earned an A+++.

In a city known for pizza, steaks, hot dogs, Italian beef and pasta, my wife and I usually prefer to eat healthy when dining out. That means adhering to a more fish/less meat diet. So adjacent diners may have scratched their heads when we ordered at Piccolo Sogno. Located at 464 North Halsted Street, at the busy intersection of Halsted, Grand and Milwaukee, in the River West neighborhood, it is a popular Italian restaurant that emphasizes pizza from a wood-burning oven, freshly made pastas and a vast wine list of over 400 labels. Open from 11 to 2:30 and 4 to 10 Monday through Thursday, 11 to 2:30 and 4 to 11 on Friday, 4 to 11 on Saturday and 4 to 9 on Sunday, it also offers a tantalizing dessert menu that doesn't cut calories. We started with a Caprese salad with imported Buffalo mozzarella, oven-dried tomatoes, basil and extra virgin olive oil and fried calamari and shrimp with lemon. We couldn't resist grilled Loch Duart salmon with garlic sauteed greens, grapes and red wine with grilled asparagus and roasted Alaskan halibut with polenta, greens, capers, olives and San Marzano tomato sauce with rosemary potatoes. For dessert, we shared panna cotta with egg-less vanilla and lemon custard with blueberry sauce and mixed berries and house-made almond and golden raisin biscotti and chocolate hazelnut biscotti. No doubt about it. Partners Tony Priolo and Ciro Longabardo, chef Michael Burke and sous chefs Gerardo Cruz and Nick Tolitano put on a great show at :Piccolo Sogno.

We have gone here for dinners many times and loved each experience HOWEVER When we got our reservation, we asked in advance for a table of 7 outside. They assured us that they would accommodate us. When we arrived they once again assured us that the would seat us in a few minutes. It seems that their definition of a "few minutes" was 45 of them. Just being honest would have made the wait more bearable. Once we got to our table our waiter apparently had somewhere to go after work because he was in a terrible rush. He tried to push us along in ordering both wine and food. While we were probably with the last table turns of the night, it would have been nice to take their time in serving us, particularly after the very long wait for a table The low light of the night was when my brother quietly informed me that a rat had just scampered across the floor. We did not want to upset our group so we did not say anything. Inevitably the rat was not shy and made an encore appearance as he scampered across the foot one of our of our guests. THAT cleared the table as our wives could not get out of there fast enough. Our hope of having a special evening out was pretty much a disaster. While the food was delicious, the lack of honesty in wait time, the bum's rush of the waiter, and the appearance of Mr.. Rat pretty much destroyed the evening

Went over to Picollo Sogno for a the first time, we originally wanted to enjoy the outdoor patio however rain spoiled that plan. However the inside of the restaurant was wonderful and I had the Spaghetti Neri which was very good. My dinner companion had the Salmon and that was delicious too. The wait staff was friendly and efficient and this will definitely be on my list to return to.

I've been to Piccolo Sogno before and had overwhelming positive experiences, while my most recent visit delivered more excellent highlights, there were some unfortunate experiences that really detracted from our visit and have me thinking twice about coming back any time soon. First, my party arrived on time for our 8pm seating and were asked to wait for 5 minutes. This would be normal and acceptable but we ended up having to wait 45 minutes. This should not be the case at such a fine establishment when we have a standing reservation. Moreover, we sat at the bar in front while we waited, and while the drinks we got while waiting were good, the bartender got one of our drinks completely wrong, serving a Negroni when we had asked for something entirely different, an Averna on the Rocks. Once we were seated, things improved a fair bit, the salad course was excellent and the appetizers were to die for. However, our waiter was either overwhelmed or not particularly attentive because we never received the bread and crostini that was served to other tables. Moreover, I felt disappointed and a bit cheated when I ordered a bottle of wine labeled as being from 2016 on the menu, and received the 2019 vintage instead; the wine was still quite good, but this constituted another area where customer expectations were plainly not met. The pasta course was a disappointing low in our evening. My party ordered the pasta special with fennel sausage and the veal ragu. Both sauces were surprisingly thin, almost to the point of being soupy. The veal ragu was so thin and wet that eating normally proportioned bites left a sopping puddle of wet beef at the bottom of the bowl. The pastas were also served without spoons, though our waiter was quick to provide them when asked. The short rib plate, and pizza special we ordered as entrees were phenomenal. But the pork ribs, though deserving of an honorable mention, were frankly ruined by the thin tomato-based sauce accompanying them, it tasted of watered down gazpacho and did not add much to what was an otherwise fantastic dish. Desert and Coffee were splendid, as was the selection of drinks, but we reached the conclusion of our meal feeling quite dissatisfied over all. The lowlights of our visit could be attributed to front of house, wait-staff, and choices/execution in the kitchen, but given these various disappointments across the board, I have to lay the blame with management. I understand that restaurants are frequently understaffed these days and that the best service isn't always available towards the end of the evening, but the cost of the meal makes such failures entirely unacceptable for a restaurant like Piccolo Sogno. If you're visiting Chicago, I would recommend trying out a more affordable or, at least, more consistent Italian restaurant. For locals, Piccolo Sogno is an institution, but it sadly seems to be falling into a state of neglect (or at least was on the evening of our visit). It's worth a try considering the stellar dishes we enjoyed from the salad, entrée, and desert menus, but order carefully and keep your expectations in check, there's a good chance the restaurant will not meet the expectations it seemingly sets for itself.

"*Starting 1/1/24 there’s a 3% surcharge for credit card payments." Piccolo Sogno tonight's meal & drinks is going to be $100+ per person, so I most would have to use credit rather than cash. what a awful policy. plus no mineral water for some reason.

What an amazing meal! From beginning to end. Minor issue we were only allowed 2 bottles of wine for six people? If we had 3 couples at individual tables we could each have had 2 bottles? Fine with the corkage fee, nothing that we brought was on their wine list anyway. Wonderful seafood appetizers, great focaccia and bread sticks. Osso bucco was great ( a special), short ribs were really tender, butternut squash ravioli to die for! Waiter was a lot of fun and knowledgeable.

I was looking forward to a nice Italian meal at Picolo Sogno after being told be friends that it's very good. The setting is nice, and the patio looked inviting (sat inside because it gets chilly at night these days). Restaurant is huge and service was decent. Except after we're done eating the main course, our waiter seemed a little too eager to get us out when there were still many empty tables (and it wasn't late in the evening either). Now the food. The green salad was good, so was the balsamic vinegar reduction. However, this is the only Italian restaurant where I had totally uninspiring and tasteless proscuitto! I ordered the signature dish, Mediterranean sea bass (it was not on the menu, but I thought the order was for a whole fish (and judging from the bill, we paid for a while fish too)). The wait staff made a big deal of showing the table the whole baked fish before returning it to the kitchen to fillet it. When it came back, I swear there was only the fillet from one side of the fish. I was treated to dinner by a friend and there were other guests too. I didn't want to embarrass the host, so I didn't ask the wait staff about the rest of the fish. I won't go back and won't recommend this restaurant to anyone I know.

Piccolo Sogno is the best garden style outdoor restaurant in Chicago. Because of that it is constantly crowded and gets a beautiful clientele, which makes it one of the sexiest restaurants in Chicago. The Italian food is excellent, the location is lovely and the management and wait staff are charming and very professional. It also has a very pleasant indoor area when the weather is cool. I highly recommend it.

This is a great restaurant for most occasions. The indoor restaurant is elegant with seating far apart, which is good for couples, friend groups, or business. The garden is very large and has a resort feel to it. Casual dressy. Service is excellent, with attentive staff. The food is a fusion of Italian and modern American and everything is well-prepared and creative. Reservations are important.

I love the outdoor seating area, it is a relaxing atmosphere for kicking back with some good wine. However, the menu is limited and kind of pricey and the quality is just okay. Nobody was wowed by their dinner and we all ordered different things. I ordered the boar ragu and I’ve had better for cheaper. I do like that they offer half portions of pasta dishes though, more than enough!

great service.we all tried something different then shared.gives you a chance to taste everything.we would eat here again for sure.

They have a beautiful outdoor space for dining, very quant and peaceful even in a busy area. We did go early, 4 pm to avoid any crowds. There were five in our party and we enjoyed a variety of salads, entrees and drinks. The service was great. Sadly the parking is expensive $15 + tip and I was told there was no place to park on my own nearby. That would be difficult for a quick bite to eat.

The entire dining was friendly and lovely - with tasty calamari to start with, delicious pasta, and moving onto salt baked fish, paired with a nice Umbria’s Sangratino wine. The experience was enhanced by Italian warmth from the waiters. Good experience and great food wine - all friends including locals that they will dine again.

With Coco Pazzo, one of our two favorite Italian places to dine in Chicago. Very nice alfresco dining in the good weather; excellent service; reasonable choices on the nice wine list; and solid Italian cuisine. Delicious fior di zucca (fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with cheese); nice selection of pastas. Nice upscale bar.

Very good food. Absolutely no ambiance. Indifferent/inattentive service. I felt like I was in a cattle chute. As soon as I sat down, all I could think about was leaving.

Sat in the outdoor patio, slightly chilly outside but their heater kept it nice and cozy. Extensive wine list almost ten pages all prices and types. Server Jose was outstanding, food delicious. I had spaghetti Neri, a black spaghetti with clams, mussels and shrimp in a light red wine sauce

We met some friends for a delightful Dinner in the Patio. Great service from Esteban who guided Us well through the wine and menu offerings. Chianti he suggested was superb as well as the salads, salmon halibut, crab meat, and ravioli . Great place for a great dinner outside with Italian food to match.

This is my 2nd time at Piccolo Sogno. The patio outside is awesome you would never know you are downtown in the heart of the city. I ordered the Lobster risotto and it was was really good. Only negative about it was there was a large wedding party/dinner on the patio that moved inside last night and I think it threw off our server. They weren't very attentive and timing was off. But still a great night under the lights with a great bottle of Chianti!

Had dinner with good friends. I actually arrived before opening and the staff could not have been more gracious. There are a number of rooms so the noise level on a crowded night was minimal. We shared the anti pasta plate they had a wide selection of veggies, meat and cheese. I had the burrata with prosciutto- absolutely authentic and tasty. For the main I had the tortelli which melted in my mouth with a melange of flavors. Did I mention the bread? I ate it all sopping up the sauce. Very good wine selection along with impeccable service. We were the first to get there and the last to leave.

We came here for a business birthday celebration. The food was very good and the wait staff was nice. No problem carrying on a conversation without yelling as in some places. I would go back.

My nieces and I really loved this experience. From the wonderful Barbera while we waited for our table, to the waitstaff to the dessert. Wonderful.

Quaint restaurant with an unexpected out door. Brings me back to my days in Italy. The service was great and the food was tantalizing. Just a wonderful evening. Great place to take family and friends. If you haven’t been try it I promise you won’t be disappointed. Will be back soon to bring some friends.

The Barzino was as good as the prior reviews, which is to say it is wood roasted, meaty, moist, and served ina citrus sauce that all works and is beautiful. The Italian cheesecake for dessert was excellent with the proper ricotta crumble and citrus flavoring. The pasta Neri was only fair.

You can always count on Piccolo Sogno for a delicious meal with excellent service. The antipasto and branzino can’t be beat, but the pastas and pizzas are also yummy. Great wine list and beautiful outdoor space once warmer temperatures return. In the winter, they make a great ribollita that is worth being stuck indoors.

We ate here for our anniversary because we were looking for a place with rabbit and duck or lamb chops on the menu. We had the rabbit hunter stew ($25) and the lamb chops ($26) along with both the kale and spinach salads. This restaurant is less than a block from the grand stop on the blue line (also a plus cause it was FREEZING outside). Restaurant was beautifully decorated for xmas. We had a glass of wine each at $12 a glass. They serve the wine in carafes and it actually seems like a little more than a glass in each carafe. Service and ambiance are wonderful. The bar area has TVs so you can check game stores if this is your thing. The view of the patio covered in snow is gorgeous.

Going to dinner with our old friends whom we haven't seen in awhile, we told them to pick the place and Piccolo Sogno was their choice. As a rule we always preview the menu's both dinner and wine to see what we are in for. After looking over the menu we found a few odd things, No chicken, veal or sausage on the menu, for an Italian restaurant those are always offered. Then I started to read the reviews, for the most part they were good, but I really didn't know what to order, nothing appealed to me except the pizza. When we arrived @ 5pm not many were seated yet. First we noticed it didn't even smell Italian and even when the restaurant filled up I never smelt anything cooking. The seating was just as all the reviewers said, tables too tight and cramped, if you weren't slim and trim you were going to be very uncomfortable all night. The first server who just asked if we wanted water , bottled (to pay for) or tap, could barely speak English we had to ask 3 times what he was saying, maybe they wanted to give that authentic feel with heavy accents on all the servers but when it is so loud in the restaurant it doesn't help. We ordered the Risotto special, 2 had the braised short ribs, Italian?? and the Margarheta pizza for dinner, portions are very small and the lighting is so bad we could not see what we were eating. For dessert the lemon panna cotta and the ricotta something or other, I didn't care for either. This restaurant caters to the new age Millennium crowd not real Italians, we will never be back. Also there is no parking but the Restaurant charges you $10 to park in their lot.

Solid! Beautiful outdoor patio. Have the branzino special. On point wait staff and amazing fresh pasta dishes

Tony Priolo, the Executive Chef and Owner, opened Piccolo Sogno after a successful run at Coco Pazzo. While we expected the food to be spectacular (and it is), the restaurant has one of the best garden outdoor dining spaces in Chicago. You could easily imagine yourself in a garden behind an Italian Villa. The service is attentive, the wine list expansive and reasonable (for a fine dining establishment) with some great finds. The menu is simple, with about five farm sourced salads (we had the peach and greens with goat cheese tonight with the sweet house made balsamic vinegar dressing) and five appetizers including the excellent antipasto plate and fried calamari. And of course delicious thin crust pizza - my favorite is basil and cheese. There are about seven pasta plates on the menu and the remainder of the main courses are evenly divided between fowl, fish, shellfish, lamb and veal. That said, we always migrate to Tony's whole roasted, salt encrusted Branzino, It's not on the menu but is always available. The finished fish is brought out for your inspection and then taken back to the kitchen, filleted and sauced with capers, lemon sauce and baked orange slices. We've had Branzino (Mediterranean Sea bass) all over the Mediterranean region and the US and nothing compares to this preparation. It's a true winner. Desserts are a fine way to finish off the meal. Gelato and sorbets are house made as are the rich biscotti. The is usually a chocolate delight and cheese cake on the menu but the real winner is the cheese plate. All in all, a great Italian culinary delight in a beautiful outdoor setting.

We were so looking forward to this dinner, but were very disappointed. The service was sub par and the food was either just not good or very bland. I think the atmosphere drives the business for this restaurant. We sat on the garden patio which was very nice and even ordered several different dishes to try. There are so many great places to eat in Chicago - skip this one.

Piccolo provides wonderful cuisine. They offer specials and you should pay attention. I was fortunate they were offering a roasted duck which was phenomenal. The ambiance is better outside, but intimacy is not possible here. Tables are closely stacked and it gets loud.

What a special place. The staff is so friendly and helpful. We were amazed at how efficient everyone was considering they were packed, we were made to feel like it was all about us! The food is exceptional! The octopus, the salmon, the gnocchi, the ravioli all will not disappoint you in any way. The wine list is extensive and well priced at all levels. Then there's the patio! What a great dining experience, it's a magical place! We can't wait to return!

We made reservations six weeks in advance for seven people. We were given a table that spanned the doorway between the inside dining room and the outside terrace. We thought it was an effort to stuff more tables in an already very crowded restaurant. The food was consistently mediocre. All of the pastas were bland, including seafood pasta, mushroom pasta and boar ragu pasta . The panzanella tasted like it had been prepared the day before or, possibly, the tomatoes were bad. The octopus was tender, but bland. The prosciutto and figs were good but I can buy those. There were very few figs on the plate. The brussell sprout salad was dry. It was improved by adding some balsamic which was on the table. All in all, the consensus was that the experience was that of cafeteria style food.

Someone recommended this to us and told us to sit in the patio as it was magical...yes, it was beautiful with lights and trees and shrubbery. The food was amazing and the waitstaff was very attentive. As we left, we noticed the ritzy cars in the parking lot but quite honestly, the prices were not that high. Great value and great place.

Top class meal for our group of nine, including a vegetarian. Wide range of food ordered and not a scrap left behind. Extensive list of Italian wines and ones we chose were lovely. But the real plus was the professionalism of the staff - truly Italian in their discreet attention without being intrusive. It was our final meal in Chicago and gives us a perfect reason to plan a return.

This place is the place for Italian food Great patio I had the chance to visit the kitchen and tAlk with the chef Everything on the menu is outstanding The pizzas are so tasty The pasta the salads everything is perfect You feel like you are in Italy You have to reserve specially for a large group We were 12 we had to wait a little bit but we got a great table Great amazing tasty unbelievable just great words for this great place Will be back again

Five of us went to celebrate an anniversary and it couldn't have been better! We had reservations on the patio and the setting and evening was extremely satisfying! The Italian cuisine was very well prepared and delicious! The service was attentive and helpful! We loved the evening because of this restaurant!

The place is beautiful specially the garden. The food is really good and the service as well. You must order the panacota!

Our friends recommended this restaurant and since we eat and cook a lot of Italian food we didn’t know what to expect. It was great. The sapore de mare was magnificent, Similar to a Choppino but a thicker sauce it was very tasty. The halibut was quite good but a little dry, we doctored it with the sauce of the sapore and it jumped. All the bread is homemade and the olive oil and balsamic were top shelf

Went with another couple for lunch. We ate inside as it was a warm day. Very good calamari. Maiale Alla Milanese,Scaloppine Di Vitelo and house ravioli were excellent. Portions were large, we did not have room for dessert.

As soon as we saw that that the tables were less than 3 feet apart we walked out the door. Totally irresponsible.

I went with a large group for a family reunion. The food was outstanding as was the service. The only negative was the noise level in the restaurant; everyone had to shout to be heard.

My family took me here for a retirement dinner - and we had the most incredible time! All of the food was fabulous and our server was probably one of the best ever making my night so special! The manager also came and checked on us since it was a celebration. We tried multiple entrees amongst the 6 of us. Our favorites were the halibut, the cheese ravioli and osso buco but all were good. The deserts were all to die for. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for dining or celebrations. There is a wide range of prices so everyone can find something.

We had a wonderful lunch here. The service was great, always there to help but not intrusive. The menu was not extensive but plenty of options and everything we had was delicious. We would love to go back for dinner!

We had a reservation Thursday. Upon arrival we were asked if we wanted to eat inside or outside. Had it not been heat index of 102 we would’ve gone outside. Ambiance was upbeat and inviting. The various servers that came to table explained the specials and drinks were on the way quickly. Voluminous wine list. We were pleasantly surprised when we got our bill. With appetizers, entrees, and drinks, the bill broke out at $75/person including tip. I chose this restaurant in part because it was on Eater Chicago Hot 38 April 2018 and Italian food is a great base for a night of drinking (we hit The Aviary first).

Unbearably loud. The white truffle risotto was nowhere near worth the $60 price tag; very bland. The boar pappardelle was a touch too salty, the meat not tender enough. Valet parking is $16, cash only.

This is an amazing setting with a very nice indoor space and an even more impressive outdoor dining space. The food had some unique twists and some I liked and some I was not too keen on. The calamari was ample and delicious but the caprese salad came with sun dried tomatoes vs regular ones. The Pappardelle w/boar Ragu was amazing but I was a bit disappointed with the Paglia w/veal Ragu. The wine list is impressive but the beer was only in bottles with no draft beer options. Our server, Alejandro, was great! So I arguably could say this was a 4 star vs a 5 star, but the ambiance put me at a five! VictorB

The food was out of this world and the wait staff were excellent- they always came around to see if we needed anything and gave us suggestions on some of the dinners that was very helpful in making a decision on ordering

Beautiful outdoor patio seating w large overhanging trees ( in summer). Authentic Italian, top-notch homemade pasta, lovely veal. Antonio our waiter enhanced everything. Great bar/drinks, appetizers and dessert did not disappoint! Heartily recommended, would return in a heart beat

This outdoor patio at this restaurant cannot be beat! It is stunning and relaxed. Our server was extremely slow and kept disappearing for long periods of time. The food was good but nothing extraordinary or special. Some of the diners outside were rather loud and obnoxious which really detracted from the overall experience.

Took my lovely wife of 25 plus years to dinner for our anniversary. From the start of sitting down at our table to having an after- dinner drink at bar, could not have had a better experience. The food was excellent,

You know it's a good Italian restaurant when the staff speaks Italian! The service was great- very attentive. The food was great, as expected. We were too full for dessert, but it looked too good to resist.

I had dinner with local friends in this Italian Restaurant. Food and wine were very good and we found a table outside for ourselves. Very nice environment and great service.

This restaurant gives you a very nice and friendly ambience with delicious food and marvelous wine. Since the weather was so nice that evening, we decided to seat at a table in its courtyard. And we really did make a good decision. The service is fast and professional.

Great atmosphere and attentive service. We made reservations and our table was not the best but we asked to be moved and were accomodated. Our waiter was no nonsense - not very friendly but the rest of the staff bringing the food and clearing plates were all attentive and timely. Our burrata appetizer was delicious as was the balsamic and olive oil with the bread. The pasta dishes tasted a little bland which was disappointing - we have had better. However, we would go probably back again and try other items on the menu; perhaps in the summer as we heard the outdoor seating is lovely.

It’s always been known for it’s beautiful outdoor seating and good Italian food but I think it’s gotten a bit more commercialized and lost that neighborhood family charm. The outdoor patio is still the place to sit when the weather is good but what used to be roomy and airy with an acceptable noise level is now crammed with tables right next to each other and a very loud noise level albeit a Saturday night. The appetizer of a fried seafood assortment was pretty plain on flavor and presentation and the pappardelle with spicy wild bore ragu came out just warm in temperature and not spicy or very flavorful at all. It’s too bad PS has lost its edge but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed. Just get back to being quaint and charming and pleasing the locals rather than the masses.

My friend and I were seated out on the patio for dinner. The patio is huge and very pretty, with trees and flowers (part of it is covered by umbrellas, but not all of it). The tables are very close together, so you can't help but overhear the conversations of the people at the neighboring tables. We started with the panzanella salad, which was pretty good...tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, bread served in the skin of a red onion. Next, I had the halibut, which was good...cooked perfectly and served over diced carrots, spring onions, peas, and fava beans. My friend had the branzino special. The server brought it out when it was finished cooking (the whole fish), then took it back to the kitchen to debone it. She loved it. She had the cheesecake for dessert, which was served with blueberries, blackberries, and a few raspberries and strawberries. Overall, very good, but extremely hot on the patio and the server could have been more attentive with the wine (we had empty glasses for awhile, as the wine was in an ice bucket a couple of tables away from us). Good food, nice atmosphere, just noisy.

We went here on a busy Saturday night. Wanted to eat outside but was at the borderline of warmth and they were nice enough to give us a choice and we opted for inside. Had a wonderful lemon drop martini that was large and delicious and our table shared a reasonably priced bottle of Pinot Grigio. I loved my cheese ravioli and my table mates loved their entries- one had salmon and the other had gnocchi. We shared a great dessert that had chocolate and ice cream. Bread tray with olive oil and vinegar was good. Pricey but worth it.

I've been visiting this spot since it opened. The restaurant is perfect for celebrating a special occasion (I visited to celebrate my marriage and then every anniversary since). Over the years the garden has grown smaller and the space devoted to outdoor dining larger, but the garden patio is still enchanting--if sometimes packed with people. I've never had a bad meal here and most meals have been excellent. Try the truffle pizza. And the fish roasted in salt is sublime.

Our business partner is a big fan of Italian cuisine and so what better place to bring them to than the location of our boss’s wife’s fav Italian in the city Spacious seating indoors and simple decor But it’s the outdoor seating that does it With the big ol tree in middle - it feels like you’re sat in an Italian piazza The service was efficient and the food was fantastic The quality of the pasta was sublime I went for the polpo (octopus) starter and the Pappardelle pasta with tender cooked veal It’s clear to see why it’s a popular place

My husband and I and two other couples ate here last Friday evening. We had been to Piccolo a few years ago but once it appeared on Check Please we had been unable to get a reservation. We got lucky last week. This restaurant has a beautiful and sophisticated interior. Out group of 6 had a nice round table which made conversation so much nicer than a rectangular table. Service was quick, attentive and knowledgeable. We started with several appetizers including the check pea fries, calamari and beet salad. All were excellent. For main courses several ordered fish - salmon, cod and the bronzino. The rest of us had pasta. A special shout out to the Ravioli Piccolo Sogno. Just wonderful. All main courses were excellent. And then the desserts. Chocolate hazelnut cake. Mmm. We'll be back.

The word was, from several trusted associates, that Piccolo Sagno was a hidden gem in Chicago's West Loop -- that their dishes were out of this world, and their outdoor patio especially beautiful. And so, it was quite fortuitous that I had chosen Friday to have lunch with a dear friend there; I had missed breakfast that morning and my stomach was literally growling as I drove to our lunch "date." I couldn't wait to order off the menu. The restaurant was everything and more that I had been told or read online. The attendants and waitstaff were genuine and warm, and we were escorted to our table on the patio. The interior decor and ambience were dreamlike. Soft earth colors, beautifully matched furniture, hardwood floors -- and when we stepped out into the patio, a canopy of leaves from a giant American Beech tree (?) shaded us from the Chicago mid-day sun. Other giant umbrella tops secured throughout the area ensured near total coverage. I sat before our one-page menus and I scanned it to assess the "style" of this particular Italian restaurant. The menu was focused and comprised of solid if not somewhat inventive Italian fare. I struggled to find a dish that was low-carb (I know, what Adkins dieter eats at an Italian restaurant, right?) and settled on a Caesar-type salad and the fish special of the day -- a whitefish scooped from the waters off Australia with a side of broccoli florets and spinach. My friend ordered a prosciutto pizza and salad made up of Tuscan kale, roasted squash and pomegranate topped with a lemon parmesan dressing. The waitstaff was extremely helpful and kind, but our orders took quite a while to arrive. The salads came first. Both were beautifully presented -- the kind of appearance that you see in cookbooks. "Spectacular" is the only way to describe it. Especially mesmerizing were the small blots of colorful squash puree that adorned the perimeter of my friend's salad. Both were delicious, but my serving was quite small for the price (or it could have just been that I was starving). Our entrees arrived a little while later. My friend's prosciutto pizza made me mourn my low-carb diet... it looked absolutely delicious. My fish arrived less than perfect, but still perfectly cooked and delicious. The filet appeared to have been hastily re-assembled into form after breaking apart, with a portion of it overturned and out of place from the rest. My first thought was, "did they drop this on the floor and just throw it back on my plate?" The broccoli florets and spinach were perfect and tasted even better. The fish was accompanied by a small dish of vinaigrette which they normally applied, but which I had ordered separately. I ladled a few spoonfuls upon the filet and tasted. Nice. The whitefish was dense and meaty, but not like salmon; with a very mild texture and taste. Very good. But again, the portion was quite small. All in all, we spent about 90 minutes there -- a little longer than I wanted, but we left smiling and $108 lighter (including tip). Piccolo Sagno is an impressive place to take a friend, spouse or business associate. It's menu is lean and focused but contains enough variety to please just about the most discerning eater. Prices are reasonable, too, but they come at the expense of portion size (so maybe you ought to order 2 of whatever you want). ; ) I'll have to come back and give this restaurant another try. If the portions had been a little larger and the service a little faster, I think it would've earned a 5-star rating from me. Word on the street is, that's exactly the kind of restaurant it is.

Nice place, good food Sophisticated, with delicious pasta I've tried a four cheese ravioli, very tasteful Not cheap, but not so expensive Michelin indication (but no star)

False advertising on open table. Your seats can be outside. The tent is not warm at all. You are cold. But they are making $$$$ w/ out telling you it’s outside in advance. The food is not like years prior.

We made a reservation here because I had been told of the patio. Unfortunately the night of our reservation was a bit chilly so we sat indoors (though the patio did look gorgeous!). We had the burrata appetizer, a risotto special, the short ribs, and a bottle of wine. We capped off the evening with a chocolate hazelnut cake. Everything was delicious and service was attentive. The restaurant itself was pleasantly quiet and simple but stylish. It was perfect for a special evening out!

This place was a hidden jewel. When I arrived I didn’t know what I was walking into but wow, great place excellent ambience. Excellent and attentive servers. The fried calamari was perfect.

This place is absolutely cute, adorable and romantic if the occasion is for that purpose. The food is good, the dessert was amazing. The service was great, they were very attentive and kind of knew what you needed before you even ordered. I plan on going back to this restaurant when in Chicago. I love the outdoor seating that they had available.

Food and service very good. We asked for a table against the wall. They refused stating due to rainy weather they needed to accommodate to people wanting Four tops. There were multiple empty tables in multiple dining rooms. 30 minutes later a couple management clearly knew gave them the table we requested. Empty tables remained during the evening. We requested to discuss the matter with management the manager again was steadfast the weather was due to not accommodating our request even though other tables we requested remained empty. Do not expect management will accommodate any specific needs. If you are willing to accept sitting where they tell you to sit the food and service by wait staff will be quite satisfying. Avoid management!!

Went on a busy Sunday early evening. The good: the menu had ample choice of offerings of Italian-type dishes to please all tastes; the pappardelle al sugo di cinghiale were particularly delicious. Good offerings of wines (though only a handful by the glass). But the service..... It took us 20 minutes to be asked what we wanted, and another 30 to be finally served our choices. Parking in the area is difficult, so be prepared to leave $ 16 to the valet.

We always enjoy this restaurant and we’re glad to have celebrated our anniversary here recently. The garden seating complied with distancing and seating guidelines. The service and dishes we ordered were well executed. The only problem I have are issues of cleanliness. Women’s restroom lacked adequate hand sanitizer. Tables were wiped with a rags that did not seem to include disinfectant. While masking rules are strictly enforced here to everyone’s credit, it would help to go the extra mile with wiping down tables and seats after each seating to placate customers who are hesitant about dining at restaurants while more cases of CoVid19 continue to mount.

We sat outside on the patio underneath umbrellas and patio lights, simply gorgeous and created a great ambiance as it was full but plenty of space between tables. We ordered pizza for an appetizer that was off the charts and four entrees. The pasta dishes were amazing; homemade pasta, flavorful but not overpowering sauces and the best wine list for Italians in the city. They ran out of the wine we wanted a second bottle of and bought a better one for the same cost. Desserts were simply decadent. Service was fantastic.

The restaurant space is cozy in the winter, and there is a lovely outdoor space in the summer. The food is very tasty and a decent wine list. We visited on a Friday night around the holidays and the service was good but because there were a number of large parties, it felt a bit frenetic and the waiters kept bumping into my chair. Still - not a reason not to go back.

Its not often I get really enthused about a restaurant...well I did about this one. The food, service and ambiance was just excellent. You can eat quite cheaply if you choose carefully. Wine is expensive however our waiters recommendation was outstanding. Every once in a while the stars align and all seems perfect. Its unlikey I'll go again...its 4K miles away !

This restaurant is a surprise behind the curtain. The patio feels like Italy, and the service staff are very helpful and friendly. The wine list is superb. We had a large party, and the service was still excellent. Recommend for guests who would like to "get away" from the city and feel like you are in Italy.

I was joined by two friends for dinner. We chose Piccolo Sogno based on a co-workers suggestion. This is a great choice for Italian- excellent food, excellent service and great ambiance. If the weather cooperates as it did the night we dined there, you will love eating outside. We started with salad- carciofini salad ($12), mista salad ($9) and cavoletti salad ($11), all very good. For mains we ate margherita pizza ($14), tortelli ($19) and gnocchi ($18), all excellent. As you can see, prices are reasonable. Service was highly attentive but not overdone. At least outside, tables are spread so that you are not hearing conversations at nearby tables. There is on-site parking (paid). If coming from the Loop, you are looking at a 10 to 15 minute drive. All-in-all a great choice for Italian.
Work lunch
Went here for a work lunch! Great atmosphere - loved their outdoor patio and their pizza was some of the best I’ve had in the city!
