Perils of overhype

By LausMac13 |

This place really isn't bad, but it does suffer from real overhype. Pizza is tasty but not mind-blowing, same goes for beer. Very noisy and service somewhat cold

No frills pizza

By Mzungubabe |

This is a casual restaurant with a sports bar type set up with high tables. Friendly waiting staff, but the pizza was only average.

Thin Crust Heaven

By Bruce W |

Piece had the best thin crust pizza we've had in our many visits to Chicago and one of the 3 best we have ever had - anywhere. We will be returning on our next visit to Chicago.

Good pizza and craft beer

By spdunk |

Noticed the craft beer tanks while walking around Bucktown and decide to stop in. Karina took care of us as we ordered a glass of their kolsch beer and a porter. Both were very tasty and fresh. We ordered a small pizza to split and it was plenty with some left over. The restaurant is fun and classy as it retained the structure of original building. I would recommend this place for a casual beer and pizza.

Excellent pizza and beer

By Rad_Danny |

Family of four enjoyed dinner here 3/10/16. Food and beer were great. Service excellent. Not far from the Damen station on blue line. Thin crust pizza is our favorite and it was fantastic.

Anew pizza place for us!!

By Matt S |

Great atmosphere, great pizza! Simple as that. The flavors of our traditional pizza were very good. Crust done perfectly (not crispy). Sauce complemented the ingredients nicely. Did not try any of the homebrews (as were driving). Goat cheese app with garlic bread was good, too.

Overated pizza

By lilrox724 |

We came here with some friends for dinner. it was our first time here. I heard good things about the pizza but we left underwhelmed. Pizza was thin crust, which wasnt too big of a deal but for what we paid for just a 3 topping pizza, I was expecting better. We ordered a medium (it was huge) but it was so thin that everything fell off the slice. Even though the pizza was mediocre, I would have to say that service was excellent.

Best Pizza in Chicago

By Denise Z |

We live in north suburbs but whenever we're in Chicago we always make a point to get a pizza (sometimes to go) at Piece. Love, love, love their pizza. It is considered "New Haven" style. It is to die for. My favorite is the white pizza with spinach and garlic (strong garlic flavor, but so, so good) and my husband favors the red sauce with sausage (I love this too) so we usually get one of each. Leftover pizza isn't an issue in our house. They have a great selection of craft beers and live music on Saturday nights. It's generally very crowded but if you go at an off-time you'll have better luck finding a table or seat at the bar.

Best thin crust ever

By Sammi1064 |

Awesome beer and pizza. Crowded and loud but worth it Had the cheese sausage and roasted red pepper. It never disappoints.

Thin crust pizza and microbrews. What's not to like?

By Psi1497 |

We visited Piece as part of our Bucktown and Wicker Park Food Tour. This was our 7yo's favorite spot. The pizza and the beer offered to us (he had root beer) were all very good. I especially liked the fresh ingredients on the pizza as well as the thinness of the crust and the large size of the pieces. The dining area we were in was perfect for our group but the restaurant offered high top tables and a full bar. The brew-masters had also won many awards with their beer which was brewed in-house.

Cheap pizza with a dose of free rudeness thrown in for free

By Mary Jo K |

Soggy cheap pizza with rude hostess and staff (waiters were nice though). I thought it was just me but then I did a search for the word rude under the yelp reviews and RUDE came up 51 times. So I guess they are rude to everyone. We went there at a non busy time with over half the restaurant empty - it still took 30 minutes to be seated and they yelled at us when we tried to help set up our table. For heavens sake - this is basically a bar not fine dining - lighten up! Chicago has a zillion pizza joints - go somewhere that has better pizza and nicer staff. You would think the manager would read these reviews and weed out the rude people but nope - he was the one that was rude so he is modeling this wonderful behavior for his staff. Food is cheap - rudeness is free

Good as New Haven

By Ek88 |

Being from CT, I am a bit of a pizza snob. Just as good as Wooster Street. A good alternative to “Chicago style”

YUM! Loved this place

By caroleeene |

This place is right in the heart of Wicker Park which was a blast. The seating along the wall was totally odd though - we were essentially sitting on top of the people on either side of us and it was kind of crowded. However, the beer selection was awesome and the pizza was delicious. We thought the pizza was slightly on the expensive side, but you're in a city so it seemed average for the area. It did take a while to get a couple rounds of drinks- we asked but they seemed to keep forgetting about us. Sadface. I'd go back and would highly recommend!

Really good pizza, a bit noisy

By TrueBlueAl |

We went on a Saturday about 5:30 pm and were seated right away (parties of four had too wait; we were two). It took a while for our waiter to come by. The noise level was pretty high in the main room with the vaulted ceiling. I probably would not go here with an other couple. A guy came in, I think he might have been an employee, who was wearing an infowars.com shirt and that really turned me off. In any case, bottom line, the pizza was excellent. Thin crust, really cheesy. Delightful.

Great beer, great pizza, Sport restaurant!

By Il60076 |

We watched the Chicago Cubs win! Along with a number of foot ball enthusiasts from all over! It is a fun sports bar ( brewing there own in house seasonal beer). The pizza was awesome this crisp crust one of the best pizzas I have had ! Great salads also! We will return to this fun establishment! Great service along with the friendly atmosphere!

Piece Out....Pizza Pizza...

By Christine |

Wow! As a native New Yorker and Pizza snob.... I did not think I would ever have anything to compare....well, Piece is outstanding!! Simply the best pizza. Went on a Saturday night (Karaoke w/a live band - amazing!! ) The staff, atmosphere and pizza were all amazing - I had such a great time.!! I had to go back again before I left to go home. 2nd time 2 days later with my son and his friends. Again, great pizza!! I am definitely going back again on my next trip. Piece Out!!! :)

Awesome Pizza in a Pizza-obsessed City!

By savvy525 |

I am a Chicagoan. Thus, I am a pizza snob, plain and simple. Many pizza places just don't cut it, and might as well be frozen pizza to me. I visited Piece Brewery and Pizzeria this past week. Everything was delicious. I started out with the caprese salad, and this was a great start. Unlike most caprese salads, this one came topped with baby greens and roasted bell peppers. Those made a huge difference. Then came the pizza. Being a Chicagoan, I have a high standard. Piece exceeded my expectations. My party started out with a white pizza topped with bacon and tomato pizza. This was the first time I had ever tried the combination of bacon and tomatoes, and it won't be my last because I found out they go together very well. We then tried the Hot Doug's specialty pizza, which was absolutely out of this world. This was my personal favorite, as I love a good spicy sausage. In terms of beer, I went with the Golden Arm, which I thought complimented the meal nicely, especially the spicy sausage. In terms of service, Diego took excellent care of my party. I could not have been happier. Overall an excellent restaurant, with a great selection of beers, absolutely amazing pizza, and fantastic service. Highly recommend!

Best Pizza in Chicago and a Great Selection Premium Beer

By Travel574 |

We wanted to go into the City to eat Pizza but did not want the typical Chicago Deep Dish. Landed on Piece Pizza based on reviews and were not disappointed. Heard that this place can get crowded so we went between lunch and dinner. Just a few tables open and were seated without a wait. We had the Grand-kid's with us and were surprised there was no kids menu. They did have individual size pizzas which worked well for the kids. The adults ordered the Honey Butter Fried Chicken Pizza and completely devoured it - It's was really good. For dessert we got the Cheesecake and this was equally as good. Service was Ok - a bit slow and they screwed up and forgot one of the cheese pizzas but quickly corrected our bill. Just a few observation's - Pizza is really good here. If you want Chicago Deep Dish - go elsewhere. We don't care for the deep-dish and was the main reason we went here. I would have to say this is the second best Pizza I have ever had, second only to Lombardi's in Little Italy (NYC). Next observation is that this is a Pizza joint with really good beer. I mean the good stuff - Chimay, Duvel, and there own brews on tap. Do yourself a favor and sample the brew. Only gripe I have and it was partially our fault is that there is next to no parking here. We drove around for 30 minutes looking for a parking spot. Permit only parking in the adjacent residential areas and they will tow you off. Take the Metro, Cab, Uber or walk - don't drive. Nothing but frustration. This is now our "go to" spot for Pizza and Brew in Chicago.

Good pizza

By denniss529 |

I have a friend who loves this place, now I see why. Piece is in Wicker Park on North Ave. It looked like there was a wait at the door, but we were seated withas soon as we walked in. It was crowded, but this a large venue and they are used to a packed house. We had the Atomic Doug and Fried Chicken pizza. Both were good, I could not decide which I wanted, so I ordered two small pies. My son and I can eat pizza, we still had 2 pieces left. Crust is good, they make a solid pie. They also have a brewery with a range of styles. Service was good, but a little slow, probably due to the crowds. I will return soon to try more pies.

Decent piece of pizza

By JXXXR |

Piece is a decent enough Pizza restaurant with large thin Pizzas and a good range of beers. Prices are probably fair but it's not exceptional value for money. The beer is nice and those with a big budget can enjoy some of their more exciting beers. The atmosphere is also nice but I would advise booking as it can get very busy. There is a lot of screens for watching sport and there is free wifi.

A Pizza Place to Visit

By Krista H |

I found this restaurant as an avid fan of the band Cheap Trick and ending up enjoying the pizza and the atmosphere tremendously. Not knowing what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised. Very good beer, very good pizza, and very cool memorabilia. I will be back.

My favorite pizza in Chicago.

By Stephen S |

It's not deep dish. Just good beer and even better thin crust pizza. Atmosphere is good. It's busy but I haven't had to wait long for a table very often. It's in a busy area so don't count on parking though.

Best Chicago Pizza.....awesome craft beer selection!

By sheric827 |

Oh my what a pleasant surprise....loved the thin crust pizza, fresh ingredients with the perfect crisp crust. The craft beer selection was great & we had excellent service! The goat cheese/marinara app with toasted Italian bread was excellent too! Can't wait to go back!!

Terrific beer brewed on premises, and great thin crust pizza.

By Erikkkkkkkkkk |

What more can I say than I have said in the title. Just go there and see for yourself. They have won awards for their beer and the staff is super friendly.

Great!

By Byron C |

Great Pizza Hot out of the oven, seasoned just right, not too much topping. Really good. Great service. Menu is fairly extensive, waitress was lots of help in figuring out what we wanted. Great beer. I am not a craft beer lover but I really liked the Golden Arm ale. Not bitter. I have never been in a better pizza place.

Good atmosphere, decent pizza

By kayymagg |

This is fun place with a huge bar, seating for large groups, and plenty of big screens. The pizza was decent, all thin crust. They did have an extensive menu with a wide variety of toppings and pizza styles to choose from, which was great. Good place to hang out with friends!!

Great Pizza

By Paul B |

Enjoyed the Hot Doug's Atomic pizza and award winning beer. Golden arm is not as hoppy as The Ploy. There is a wait but you can eat at bar and Nick will take good care of you! Enjoy some good thin pizza after eating all those deep dish.

Live band karaoke!

By WanderingSoul |

We had a great time here watching the live band karaoke. The place does get packed so be ready for a crowd. The pizza was decent and there was a good beer selection to choose from.

Best Thin Crust!

By Missy S |

This pizza was delicious. I would definitely return on a future visit. Locals recommended Piece to us otherwise we wouldn't have known to go there. I'm so glad we did! It's a simple menu but the food will amaze you. I'm not a beer drinker but the group enjoyed the different brews offered. The only reason I didn't give them 5/5 is the bartenders didn't seem to care about the customer experience. We were served but not with a smile...I will say our server for lunch was excellent! Highly recommend!!!

Good food - rushed waitress

By Martutd |

The food here is good but the service not so. There doesn’t appear to be enough staff to cope with the amount of customers, one of our meals was plonked on the table without anything being said and left for us to work out whose it was, that said all the food was good. Beer is good to and worth trying More staff reqd methinks

A deliciously delightful surprise

By OHsoccermom5 |

Mashed potatoes. Ever consider that as a pizza topping? I never had, and I wasn't brave enough to try it. What we did get was two huge pizzas that were delicious. We were a party of 8, and still had leftovers with the 2 large pizzas. They come out on a jelly roll pan. My hubs tried a flight of the signature beers, and declared them tasty. If you go, know that it is a loud place and was really warm on an August evening. If you go with a large party, you will not be seated unless you have more than half of your group with you.

Crowded

By VictoriaK2 |

In the summer this place can get too crowded and hot. The bathroom felt like a sauna. New Haven Style Pizza was okay. Serves hot and quick. Nice to wash down with a beer.

Very good beer and pizza

By Eatingallover |

Very good beer and pizza in a small brewery which is a short ride from downtown. Good beer choices started with a flight then decided on the octoberfist the pizza was very good thin crust. They also have a dessert pizza with Nutella and mascarpone cheese

Very good pizza!

By goodlife72 |

The pizza was very good and a great value! Pizza's are huge!!!! Add garlic for an even better tasting pizza. Try the spinach dip, it was amazing!!! Nice atmosphere and good service.

Pizza and Beer

By C Rob |

Excellent pizza and beer. This restaurant was very busy but worth the wait (it was Friday night). Our waitress was the best!

Great pizza!

By Hunter V |

I came here last night with a group of friends for some last minute dinner. There was a wait so we put our name in and found some seats at the bar. I tried their Golden Arm beer, which was great! A light beer very similar to a cream ale but lighter than a wheat. The wait was much shorter than we though, probably only about 15 to 20 minutes. When we sat down, we got the goat cheese appetizer with extra bread and another round of beers. The appetizer came promptly then we ordered pizza. Our server was nice and attentive but nothing out of the ordinary. We got two pizza, both medium. Honestly, for five people it is way too much food. We could all barely finish half of one! Nonetheless, they were really great! Id recommend this brewery and pizza place for a late night dinner with good beer, I enjoyed the atmosphere of it as well because it wasn't too light or crowded in there. The music and voices were pretty loud however and you could t have a normal conversation, but that's okay. Overall, I would definitely go back for the pizza!

Create your own pizza, enjoy a micro brewed beer

By GinaBRU |

A hopping, casual restaurant, specializing in create your pizza. Great bar scene, as it is a microbrewery. Packed on a Sunday afternoon. Lots of tv screens to catch a sports game. Since you pay per topping, it can add up in price.

A delightfully different kind of Chicago pizzeria

By burbphotos |

Forget everything you think you know about Chicago pizza. While deep-dish may be the Windy City's claim to pizza fame, the folks at Piece are all about making amazing pies -- minus the jumbo-thick crusts most associated with Chicago. They call it "New Haven" style, based on an east-coast recipe that I would describe as somewhere between thin crust and New York style. Whatever it is, it's darn heavenly. Add to that their award-winning craft beers --brewed in-house-- and you have a recipe for a great evening out in Wicker Park. One caveat if you're thinking of maybe a quiet pizzeria, Italian music with a glass of Chianti: this ain't it. On most nights, Piece is a crowded, raucous, delightfully loud, delightfully happening scene. My new favorite pizza destination in Chicago.

Beer

By natalie g |

We just had drinks in the early afternoon. The beer wins awards and was drinkable. Get a flight to sample a couple of different beers, if you’ve never had any from here. Pizza looked pretty good. Bar tender was not very attentive though, but maybe was just an off day. Rafters needed a good dusting...

Mediocre

By Megan L |

I read the reviews before we decided to try. First off, we knew we weren't getting Chicago style pizza which was fine. True to most of the reviews I read, the staff was very warm and friendly and seated us immediately. Unfortunately, the pizza was disappointing. We had 6 people and ordered based on the number of servings recommended. We had enough pizza to feed 30 people. The sauce was minimal and the "Grandma's meatballs" were flat and unrecognizable. They forgot the jalapenos but did bring later. All in all a disappointing food experience but nice venue and lovely staff.

Pretty decent pizza & nice beers

By oldtraveller131 |

Good thin crust pizza - more American style than Italian. Unfortunately no wood fired oven. You can pick your own toppings from an extensive list. Service is friendly and efficient. A great beer list on tap. A good place to go with friends and have fun

Classic Chicago pizza

By Christ T |

This place has classic Chicago pizza that is outstanding. Thin and tasty. To add to the awesomeness they are also a great brewery.

Skip the deep dish, grab a Piece!

By BMelanie |

After visiting friends in CT a couple months ago and eating Pepe’s pizza, I knew Piece was gonna be a must-try in Chicago. It definitely didn’t disappoint: thin, crispy crust with golden brown edges, generous distribution of toppings and so many options to make the pizza your own. I’m not even on the plane home and I already miss this pizza!

Great neighborhood pizza!

By Joseph S |

Go here to escape the downtown pizza tourist traps. Be prepared to wait as this place is swamped many nights. I was lucky and got a seat at the bar after about only ten minutes. The bartenders aren't over friendly but they do their job and make sure you are taken care of. In fact despite being so swamped I was pretty impressed how fast I was waited on. Lots of good beers to pick from. I had never had New Haven style pizza before, and actually ordered one by mistake as I forgot to specify sauce. Then when I got the pizza, I forgot all about that. It was so good and boiling hot out of the oven. It tasted every bit as good as anywhere I had been in the past. Tip: never ask for garlic butter as that is frowned on.

Really good thin crust pizza in chicago?

By kapreece |

This place is a jewel. Not only do they make a tasty thin crust pizza with an amazingly crispy crust; they also brew some yummy beer! Definitely adding this place to my list of favorite pizza places. I'm usually a deep dish lover but the crust is so chewy and delicious!

Great Pizza and Great

By Windy City Wendy |

There are so many varieties of pizza and they are large. We had the mashed potato pizza - don't go by the name. It was definitely worth trying.

Super place

By KatMIA |

We were walking the streets and looking for a pub. We came across Piece Brewery, wondered into the place and sat at the bar. Nice women working the bar let us sample a couple of their beers. I picked the Golden Arm ( ok) then had The weight which I really liked. My partner had 2 of the Roadhouse (double IPA) and absolutely loved it. Great bar had TVs with baseball games going on. Nice place, we caught it after the lunch crowd so it was not noisy. Good price for beer.

Popular place but not my favorite Chicago pizza.

By Kathy & Bill T |

Raving awards on walls & stacked throughout. Very crowded for mid afternoon. We sat at the bar & had quick service. The $20. flat crust pizza we ordered was not so special for us. Not that we were not hungry, it was not as others have proclaimed for us.

Great Pizza and Beer

By mjmoly |

This has to be a classic Chicago spot. We discovered it by asking a couple of folks on the street where was a good place to get something to eat. Both independently said "Piece". They also have an award winning microbrewery on the premises. Fabulous pizza at reasonable prices. Very generously sized--4 of us were hard pressed to eat a medium. Nice selection of beers. We tried three different ones of theirs. All were winners. Warm, friendly place. Not too crowded in the afternoon. We were warned that it really fills up later.

Going Away Party

By Steven A |

We once again had great pizza and beer pairing while having some lively conversations. Our favorite is the Clam/Red Onion/Bacon/Garlic/Lemon/White Sauce Pizza

Best pizza ive ever had

THIS BUSINESS DOES NOT CARE IF YOU HAVE A FOOD ALLERGY!

By Melissa D |

THIS BUSINESS DOES NOT CARE IF YOU HAVE A FOOD ALLERGY! I strongly feel that posting a negative review for Piece is warranted. As you will see if you go to the Yelp reviews for this business, the owner of Piece, Bill J., felt the need to be combative and confrontational to my partner, Donnie R., who has a food allergy. I could have gone without reviewing here on trip advisor if Piece simply did what it had done every other time that they had messed up our pizza, which is to apologize and not try to misplace the blame on DoorDash. However, that was not the case last night. My partner, Donnie R., reviewed this business because the "mistake" (or incompetence) of putting an item on our pizza that was specifically noted in the order as a "please do not put on allergy!!!" has happened numerous times now. Almost immediately afterward, my partner's review was responded to by the owner, Bill J., which makes me question if he had even checked in with his employees to find out what happened. Unfortunately, you will not see how immediately he responded because Yelp does not provide for a time of response. The owner's response was insulting and implied that my partner was lying about the experience with his restaurant. If you are still reading, you are probably saying, well this is her partner and she has a motive to back him up. Yes, one might think that I have a motive to back my partner up on this matter, but the restaurant owner has just as much of a motive to paint this in positive light for his restaurant in a positive way. Now that the possible motives are out of the way, let's look at the facts. You can see by the photo posted with this post that the owner is BLANTANTLY lying about my partner not indicating it. On top of seeing the order itself, I know he puts this down as an allergy (which he is allergic to and funny enough did have an allergy test just this week) because I told him a long time ago that he needs to make people aware of his garlic allergy because it is in a lot of items at restaurants. I know this from my lengthy time of working at restaurants prior to going to law school. Additionally, I overheard the conversation between my partner and the store manager who admitted that the notes from DoorDash came through their computer system but were not properly relayed to the kitchen. Lastly, if you have ever ordered from DoorDash you know that the order you place is sent right to the restaurant the way that you place it. Don't let this owner convince you that DoorDash is to blame for this issue. I will never order food from this establishment again. And I really hope you think twice about ordering food from here if you have a food allergy. You may end up sick or even worse. I know I will be telling all my friends and clients not to order from this establishment in the future. I also intend on researching whether Mr. Billy J. owns any other establishment so that I do not ever spend a dime at those businesses too.

Part of the Pizza Tour

By Tom H |

Came to this place as part of the Chicago Pizza Tours. While there had the Golden Arm beer which was very good, I recommend. For pizza we had the Honey Chicken. While not something I would order on my own, it wasn't bad. The chicken with the honey on it was very, very good. The crust was also very good. It is crunchy, yet chewy at the same time. Nice texture and a bready taste. The other pizza we tried was a white pizza with garlic and basil with olive oil drizzled over the top. Again, the crust is very good. The restaurant was clean and nice size.

Thin crust pizza

By Nick D |

Last stop on our Chicago Tour of Pizza. This thin crust was my wife's favorite on the tour. Crunchy but chewy. New Haven style pizza, so the cheese and topping go all the way to the edge. Great brewery too to wash down this delicious stop. We had the Golden which was really good! Again this is north of downtown, but worth a stop if you are in the area.

Yummy pizza

By BML111 |

Go early as Piece does not take reservations and you could easily be in for a 2 hour wait on the weekends. Piece is a pizza place and also a brewery. We had a party of 6 on a Sunday eve so we checked in then walked around Wicker park to kill time. Our wait was only about an hour. The vibe is very fun and loud. We ordered our beers (the light and curvy was delicious) then figured out our pizzas. We ordered 2 larges. OMG-they are huge. They fill an entire industrial size sheet pan each. They were so good though that we had no problem putting a dent in them both. We had a white pizza with chicken and peppers and a red pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms and red onions. I would definitely order them again.

Great pizza- award winning beer

By cutsman |

I'm a fan of both beer and pizza, so I thought this just might be a good place to go. It was so much better than good- from the people to the pizza to the beer- it was outstanding. I can understand why people rave about the pizza and the walls are covered with medals from prestigious beer awards proving the beer is as good as you'll find.

Did not disappoint

By MaddieH7 |

Has been on our list of places to eat, since we love pizza and Chicago is a pizza town. Stopped this Saturday for a late lunch after walking the 606 trail. Pizza crust is fabulous. You have three styles to choose from, red, white and New Haven. We had the white (no tomato sauce) and added sausage, red onion, fresh basil and tomatoes. So good. A medium was really like a large in other places so was more than enough and we took half home. Surprised for a "brewery" that there were only five beers on tap, but the ones we chose were good. Definitely will go back.

Great food service and beer

By Mike W |

Left feeling full and content! The individual pizza was the perfect size and delicious. Tons of great beers to choose from and service was great.

Pizza and beer

By Jan OR |

Tasty pizza, great beers and friendly service. I could visit again. 8 of their own brews on tap plus 10 guest taps. Big pizza pies, American style pizza.

Pizza and Beer. Must be heaven

By Andrew_Swiss |

Oh the Piece brewery! It's been a few weeks ago but it feels like it was yesterday! I remember the smell when we entered the bar. The friendly staff which recommended some freshly brewed craft beer and the delicious pizza! If you're looking for a Chicago deep dish pizza, you're not in the right place.. but if you're looking for a normal thin crusted pizza, you're in heaven. There are a lot of TV screens as well. Sports, freshly baked pizza, fantastic home made beer.... what else do you want?! I loved this place!

Born and raised in the New Haven area

By TravelingKathey |

I never thought living in the midwest, I'd find decent pizza again, not only is it decent it's GREAT! It is as good as any New Haven or New York pizza. definitely worth the visit!

STOP: This is NOT deep dish! Its so much better.

By natalie n |

Piece came into my life almost 10 years ago when I first moved to Chicago and I've been obsessed since. This pizza is in the Connecticut New Haven style which is a chewy and thin crust that never disappoints. You can order your pizza Red (normal pizza), White (plain crust brushed with olive oil, diced garlic and mozzarella cheese) or New Haven (plain crust brushed with olive oil, diced garlic and mozzarella cheese). You can either go for their pizza of the month, the Hot Doug's Atomic (get this) or you can build your own. If you like your pizza with a lot of veggies like I do ask for it well done! The staff is great and they brew all their own beers on premises. Jonathan Cutler is amazing at what he does brewing wise and it can be shown in his World beer fest and Great american beer fest awards. If its on tap get the Camel Toe if you like double IPA's and the Dark and Curvy if you like Dunkels. Over all piece is not to be missed and its the only place I take my out of town friends when they visit! Leave Deep dish to the tourists and come experience amazing food and drinks!

Best thin crust

By ideanna |

The sweetheart and I truly enjoy our visits to piece. Whether we are having a beer at the bar or waiting for a table, we look forward to the consistently friendly staff, and overall atmosphere from this spot. Their award winning brews on tap are where it’s at. I’m a huge fan of the double IPAs’ and can never go wrong with their recommendations. Ryan was our server and his professionalism and easy going personality was second to none. We had a red pizza with sausage n’ roasted red bell peppers and it was Excellent. Afterwards we purchased a growler to go (of the weight) from the lovely bartender Liz. I recommend this spot to any family, friend, and newcomer. Looking forward to our next visit.

Best time for tourists is mid-day

By Kwesi M |

Best time to visit this place is mid-afternoon. Came a couple of other times at night and it was a madhouse. Available parking, no crowds or lines, natural light from glass ceiling, great pizza and always good brews for every taste.

Must Eat Here for Pizza and Beer

By 4gradys |

My husband and I walked the 606 and came here to eat. The service was amazing. Lots of unique beer and pizza options. I had the white pizza (no red sauce) with garlic and mozzarella and parmigiano cheeses. My husband had the brunch pizza with scrambled eggs, bacon, and jalapeño. It was sooo good! I highly recommend this restaurant!!!!

Pile On the Pepperoni

By Jon from Dallas |

Piece delivers a helluva pepperoni pizza for the price! We made the mistake of ordering a medium and paid the price of leaving stuffed. There was so much pepperoni on that thing I had to pop two Tums to sleep it off! It's a knife-'n-fork attack strategy given the cracker thin crust and overburden of meat and cheese. I tried the New York hand-held-fold-and-chomp method and failed miserably. After a trip to the restroom to wash-up, I was ready to proceed with the knife-'n-fork process. The Piece Pilsner was served less than cold, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it. The fun wait staff set the tone for a casual and filling meal for little money. The neighborhood clientele is friendly and family-oriented. We took a quick peek at the brewery next door. Piece be unto you, my child.

Love it!

By Jennifer H |

We went on a Friday night there was a line to get in but it moved very quickly. Once in they said it would be 45 mins for the four of us to get seated. We had just gotten our beers from the bar and were seated, so much quicker than we thought. It was very busy with a youngish 20s crowd. The pizza was amazing, loved the thin crust! The beer was really good too. Two thumbs up!!

Great Thin Crust Pizza and Beer!

By Nick K |

We went on a Sunday around 12:30. There were six of us and we had no problem getting a table. We ordered a couple of pizzas. I tried the Atomic Sausage by Hot Doug's, which also has caramelized onion and pepper jack cheese on it. It was delicious. The key was the crust: it had a great taste and texture to it. It was crisp but had a little bit of a chew. The beer selection is also great and they provide detailed descriptions so you can choose one that fits your taste. I can honestly say this is now my favorite pizza place in Chicago for thin-crust pizza!

Awesome pizza and beer

By SilverCupDrinker |

Was in Chicago for a wedding and had a free afternoon so I made sure I went to Piece since friends had raved about it. I had high expectations and was not disappointed- the pizza (the Red Butter Fried Chicken Pizza) was super - I would go back for that alone. But the beers were just as good - the Weight pale ale was the best beer I had in Chicago that weekend. Service was terrific as well - a must stop now anytime I go to Chicago!

Fabulous!

By Gerry N |

Four of us shared their white pizza, olive oil, parmesan and mozzarella cheeses with fresh basil. Super delicious. We also shared one with pepperoni, mushrooms and onions and it too was fabulous. The music was really fun and their craft beers were the perfect accompaniment to the pizzas. We will definitely visit them again.

Pizza and Beer!

By Lee H |

Piece has a very good thin crust pizza with a lot of options for sauce and toppings. The beers were delicious as well. Plenty of TV's for sports watching and a great atmosphere. Valet parking is available for $10 if you don't want to mess with finding a spot on the street.

Great take out pizza

By Philip C |

Excellent, New Haven style pizza. For me, the perfect sauce ratio. The grownups liked olive, mushrooms and sausage. The kids, half cheese and half pepperoni. Not cheap. We spent over $50 on two very large pies, but they were very good, in a city known for its pizza.

Worth the wait!!!

By hmachi95 |

At 8pm we were quoted an hour wait time. The waiting area in the restaurant is very small, but they text you when the table is ready and give you a 5 or 10 min (I forget how long) window to come back and claim your table. It was enough time for us to close a check at a nearby bar and walk back to the place. Pizza is AMAZING. Seriously, we just got a cheese pizza and it was fantastic. Also — don’t pass on their home-brewed beer.

New Haven pizza

By Scott M |

You can have your choice of red, white or New Haven-style pizza, the latter having no mozzarella cheese, only red sauce, garlic and a sprinkling of parmesan. We got the small, and added ricotta cheese and mushrooms for a perfectly acceptable pizza. Small is definitely enough for two people. They have a selection of their own brews on tap, or a number of bottles. If you're in the mood for pizza and beer, this does not disappoint.

New favorite!

By JSSAmber |

It's mildly blasphemous to prefer the New Haven-style crust to a deep dish in Chicago, but wow, this was really good. I took our teenage kids here to sample top-notch Chicago pizza, and we all agreed this was our favorite. It's located in a very hip part of town, and they make a point of leveraging their location and popularity to do some social good, from the flags hanging on the walls to the small extra surchage on each meal to make sure they can give health insurance to their staff, even part-timers. The staff were fab, too: fully of personality, comfortable at work, and eager to make us want to come back. We will!

Great Pizza Place

By Juni L |

This is probably one of the best pizzas we have had. The thin crust style was very tasty. The home made brews were also very good. Service was quick and friendly. Excellent atmosphere, family friendly. This is a local joint, however, I think people from all over Chicago goes here, it is popular

Great place for pizza

By banj2015 |

We tried thin crust pizza. Very good and good service. Although the plac3 was full of people the orders came without a long wait. We were surprised. Somewhat noisy. Of course it’s a brewery. If you’re a football fan you can watch your favorite team playing if they have an ongo8ng game - Big TV screen all around.

Consistently good

By MelindaIllinois |

We love to go here. Had both red and white pizza. Great homemade sausage. Wish they carried domestic beer on draft.

Mmmmmmmm

By Bilal Motley |

The pizza is bangin’. My wife had a red pizza with basil, mushroom, and goat cheese. You can customize what you want. I had the honey butter fried chicken pizza. It was a masterpiece. Oh try the warm spinach and tomato dip appetizer. It’s really good.

Pizza yummy

By Travel Booze Food Happinesses |

Amazing pizzas. I means really good toppings and crispy base. Beer local were also good Come hungry but you can take homw

Awesome Lunch!

By sharrongeg |

Great lunch! Juan was our server and he was on top of his game. Love quick, friendly and knowledgeable servers. Started with their 23rd Anniversary Ale ($8) and a glass of Pinot Grigio ($11). Both excellent. For lunch we ordered a small “red” pizza with Italian sausage, ricotta and onions ($28). Pizza could have easily fed 3 adults. Loved the crispy crust. Best pizza we have had in a long time.

Better service

By nafsdrac |

Great big pizza joint in Chicagos eclectic area. Finally a thinner crust pizza!!!!! Food was very good , not great but good. The sausage was very bland. No side salads available just bigger sizes that can feed two. The place was packed on a Sunday night. Amazing. Not bad but not great. I would give it a 3.5 on a 1 to 5.

Atmosphere/Pizza/Beer

By ChicagoJ19 |

Great place to go with a group of friends. Pizzas and tables are big. Beer is great. They don't take reservations so grab a pitcher of beer while you wait for your table. Plenty of TVs too!

Great pizza and quick service

By Claire B |

The pizzas are huge and delicious! The environment is relaxed with outdoor seating. The pizza came out surprisingly fast and we couldn't even begin to finish it all.

Nothing special. At all.

By Stephen S |

We chose Piece because of the location. It was close to Double Door and we were going to a concert later that night. We could smell it before we saw it! We thought that would be a good sign. I'm not sure if everyone was in after-shock of the world-series craziness, but no one that helped us, host, server, food runner seemed to be in a good mood. They either seemed bored or just disinterested in knowing how we were doing. Our server, Dakota, seemed to be having the worst night of them all. He just seemed to be on a one way track He just walked around in circles, stopping at the wait-station to check his phone. (which everyone seemed to be doing.) The food was passable. But not memorable. It was just a blah night all around. No one thanked us. No one came to get payment on the check. We could have just walked out on a $40.00 + tab and they would not have even figured it out for at least fifteen minutes. It would probably help to have management (which didn't seem to be present) do some training on some basic service skills. Like "hi, how are you?" "How's your food?" Remove dirty plates. Remove menus once one has ordered. There's a lot for the staff to learn.

Pizza and craft beer - the perfect combo

By Darren M |

First night back in Chicago and our friends took us to their local pizzeria and Brewery. I'm normally a deep pan fan but these thin crusts were excellent and tasty. For Europeans it's good to remember an American small pizza is our large pizza. Great choice of craft beer and had a lovely IPA to wash it all down- if u in the area it's worth a visit

Excellent pizza and craft beer!

By needmorevacatime |

My husband and I were in the Wicker Park neighborhood yesterday, and had lunch here. We sat at the bar and started with one of their beers made in house, the Golden Arm, which was delicious. We then ordered guacamole and chips, which was good, and our pizza. The pizza was great, service was awesome and the atmosphere is fun. Definitely will go back!

Amazing pizza

By Sarah C |

My husband, son and I came to this restaurant on the recommendation of a native Chicagoan. It did not disappoint. We ordered appetizers because we were very hungry but didn’t need to given the generous pizza size. However, the goat cheese and sauce appetizer was delicious. The pizza was definitely the yummy main event. The crust was crispy perfection and the sauce was superb. Highly recommend.

Great thin crust pizza

By Scott |

After a long trip to get to Chicago we just wanted to relax but were starving for some good pizza. Large means large here and just about any toppings you could think of. It was chicken, jalapeños, meatballs, black olives mushrooms and pepperoni for our family. The crust was just right. Order early as the place gets busy fast. Salads and drinks were a great match too. Hopefully we’ll be back.

Go to pizza and brewery

By AndiM |

Pizza and Beer are great here! This is our favorite Wicker Park pizza place. If you are going during peak dinning hours be prepared to wait. If you are lucky enough you might be able to find a place at their bar and order some of their award winning brews. The serve white and red sauce pizza. I just am not a white sauce person so I have no idea how it is...but their red sauced pizza are great. When we first started going here we just built our own. Then we learned about the Hot Doug's Atomic Pizza. OMG, jackpot!!! My tastebuds couldn't be more satisfied. I can't order any other pizza since our discovery. It's a red sauce pizza with spicy sausage from Doug Sohn and cartelized onions covered with pepper jack cheese. SO GOOD!! They have a full bar but when you are in a brewery, you should get beer. Which is what I did. My staple is the top heavy hefeweizen or Golden Arm but I was feeling adventurous so I ordered the Dark n Curvy. It didn't disappoint. PRO-TIP: They have a Sunday take out special. You can get a growler of beer and a pizza for $25!

Excellent

By Traveler2012a |

Went here twice during a trip to Chicago . Ordered a pepperoni , Italian sausage and jalapeño pizza. The pizza was absolutely incredible . As an added plus , they have an on site brewery where they make their own beer . The selection was good , and I would go here again. On a side note , we went here a second time during the same trip , and ordered the same pizza . It was incredibly salty . I would recommend when you order to ask them not to add so much salt just to be safe

Great Pizza, Great Beer!

By Adrian F |

Pizza and craft beer -- doesn't really sound like a can't miss, but Piece is definitely worth a visit. I visited Piece went with a large group of friends (including a couple of locals). The restaurant was slammed (not unusual apparently), but that didn't stop wait staff from getting our food and drinks out in short order. I can honestly say, one of the best pizza joints I have ever visited. Piece definitely lived up to the hype, and I will most definitely be going back on my next trip to Chicago.

Very Good but very pricey

By porterjames2 |

If you are just looking for a good thin crust plain cheese pizza, this is an expensive choice. There are several places that have equally good pizza at a lower price. If you like unusual toppings or just multiple toppings this is probably well suited for your taste. However, again, this is some fairly expensive pizza. We ordered three large pizzas for pick up/carry out and the total came to almost $100. If you don't think that is expensive then this is your place.

Hidden Gem

By Robin A |

This place has great food and great beer. Was thrilled to simply stumble upon it on a Sunday afternoon while visiting Chicago. We like to hit breweries and have gone to several suggested places in Chicago, but this is hands down one of the best. Plus great pizza. Cant go wrong!

Super Good Pizza

By Glenn D |

This is a hopping little place. Great appetizers and wonderful pizza. You better be hungry as there was plenty to eat.

Wicker Park pizza and beer

By looper63 |

Great place for a slice with friends. Excellent craft beer selection. Wicker Park is becoming a fav stop for us and Piece is a solid meeting spot.

Thin Crust Heaven

By Bruce W |

I like deep dish pizza. My wife does not. I also adore good thin crust and prefer it over deep dish. When we visited our daughters recently in Chicago, we had a traditional thin crust and a white thin crust pizza from Piece...absolutely heavenly. Thin and crispy, well baked, no soggy toppings or crust. Fabulous.

Never disappoints!

By h g |

Chicago pizza never disappoints!! I ate here for the first time and will definitely be back. Plenty of veggie friendly options.

Loved it

By JEB |

Stopped in here with my family. First off it’s very kid friendly. All 3 of kids enjoyed it. The pizza was delicious and huge. Our group of 5 struggled to finish the large pepperoni we ordered. Lastly my wife and I both loved our beers. We have very different tastes in beer so finding a place we both like is not common

Decent Beer

By Todd C |

We stopped in only to grab a beer. The selection was decent and the few we had were good. We didn't get food but it looked good and the place was packed. There was a wait to get in. We would come back to try the pizza.

Good Beer / Pie Shines!

By IslandTime78 |

Piece was the dining highlight of our most recent Chicago visit! Located in Wicker Park just a short walk from the Damen "L" stop, Piece is equal parts brewery and restaurant. The beer was quality and deserves recognition, but in a town over-saturated in deep dish, Piece's New Haven-style pie shines! For the sheer fact that I will likely never be able to request this topping combo again, I ordered a goat cheese and clam pizza AND IT WAS DELICIOUS!!! I know. I was as surprised as you are. In a concrete city, Piece's organic space with greenhouse-esque skylight and natural beams is a welcome environment. Our only complaint is that our server was somewhat inattentive. Make sure to include Piece on your next Chicago visit and don't hesitate to be adventurous!

BEST PIZZA ON THE PLANET

By Aaron P |

BY FAR, my favorite pizza place in the world! Been coming here for years for both the pizza AND the amazing home-brewed beer. Can't recommend this place enough.

Not Deep Dish!

By Ken B |

Used Trip Advisor to find a pizza place near my daughters apartment and chose Piece. The beer, service and pizza were all great. Pizza is thin, served in a rectangular pan and sliced like a round. Very flavorful. And a lot of t.v.'s so I could watch the hockey game!

GO to Place

By last henry |

This is our go to place for a slice of thin crust heaven. Plenty of beer and a busy place but fast paced service heading here for Superbowl!

Great Pizza & Beer

By Philip F |

Say what you want about "deep dish Chicago pizza" this place makes the best thin crust oval pizza in the city! The beer brewed on site is fabulous! Great variety, they even have other micro brews.

Best. Pizza. Ever.

By Kimberly L |

I've been around a minute. I've eaten a lot of pizza in a lot of different cities. But, this pizza right here? This is it. This pizza may bring me back to Chicago, even if there weren't 1000 other reasons to return. This crust I will dream about. It's that right. It's a New Haven style, thin, but chewy, just perfect. I had my personal (still huge) pizza topped with mushrooms and bacon. My husband had sausage, olives, and ricotta. Both pizzas were topped perfectly- just the right amount of sauce, cheese, and toppings, and although we were full half way through, we didn't leave a bite behind. I can't comment on beer- that's my husband's thing, but I did like the little flight glasses! Our server was so great. She had so much energy and was just down to earth and fun to converse with. If I lived in Chicago, I'd be a regular.

Excellent Pizza and craft beer

By M N |

Lots of great craft beer created by them. I tried 4 different beer of their and loved them all. The pizza had lots of choices to pick from and was delicious. The atmosphere and ambiance was great. A must eat for visting Chicago.

Rude Service made it intolerable to stay

By Lilaross21 |

We took a 25 minute über here, hearing the pizza was so great. Sadly the hostess was so rude, we left before sitting. With 10+ empty tables in the place, we asked if we could sit near a window. She said no bc we only had 4 not 6. It wasn't just the reply, which is nonsensical given the restaurant was partially empty, it was her careless and blatantly rude demeanor or willingness to create a friendly solution. For a place called "piece", it may be wise to hire people with an wee air of peace and kindness. Or at least the skill set of general common courtesy.

Party of Six

By 808linlin |

Arrived at Piece and we were seated promptly. They are known for their thin crust pizza and their red sauce pizza is New Haven style meaning it does not have mozzarella on it, but don’t let this fool you. They use Parmesan, and olive oil to produce a very cheesy and flavorful pizza. They have lots of options and some do have mozzarella. The pizzas are Larger Than Normal. If you stick with 2-3 toppings it’s not too pricey. Service could have been a bit better, but this is a large brewery & pizzeria. There are appetizers and desserts. What they do is kept simple and they do a good job. It is noisy. Some reviews have mentioned it as a good place to take a date...not if you want to be able to talk.

Great Pizza, Beer, Service and atmosphere

By Timothy L |

Recently went back to Piece for the first time in 2019 and the place is still great. The Pizza is New Haven Style and the Beer is totally awesome and has been for years. John is the Brewmaster he is a nice guy and a great Brewer! The place does get busy but the wait is worth it. Check out the Beer and Pizza this place is a great spot in Wicker Park!

Piece of... don't mind if I have another piece

By gsxrtrxstr |

Stopped in for a late lunch with friends. Was greeted promptly and sat at a community table. I'm not from the area, so I don't see many community tables, but I like the idea. Piece has a good size selection of their own beers on hand that they brew and from what I tried, they are very solid beers. Touting several award winning beers on the boards overhead. I ordered the personal sized Honey Butter Fried Chicken Pizza. The pizza itself was a delight, Nice sweetness added to the sauce from the honey I suppose, but the combination of all the toppings all worked well with each other. Thanks to the community tables I could see other larger pizzas coming out and you want to talk about good sized pizzas, some of these were quite large indeed. I think this is a good stop for pizza anyday in the City of Chicago. With so many choices in such a big city, it's hard to stand out, but I think Piece has done a nice job of it.

Great Pizza for a Group

By Mindi K |

We met here before an afternoon event - never disappoints. It was great food, great service and a great beer selection. The food is always good and you never leave hungry.

Great pizza

By Michaelshawkfan |

Nothing bad to say about this place then crust pizza it is very very good it looks like a great place to go have beers at I'm not a drinker but it looks like a fun atmosphere

Awesome pizza!

By Kat |

Fantastic pizza! The crust is amazing! Had a sausage and spinach pizza with red sauce and it was incredible. The service wasn't the best, maybe because it was so busy. Long wait, even at 9pm! Highly recommend this restaurant though!

Interesting local pizza and beer joint.

By sayjay22 |

The pizza was OK, We had a regular pie, sausage, onions and cheese, nice thin crust but not much cheese. Sauce is one of those things you like either tart or sweet but whatever you like, it needs to standout on a red pie. Perhaps we would have had better luck with one of the whites or specials pie. The house brews were well matched to the pies, clean, well brewed but not distinctive in any way. Service was very good and we were there early so not too noisy.

Piece is a great pizzeria/microbrewery in a fun neighborhood

By Andrew B |

Great pizza, better when you eat it there than takeout though. But you might as well eat it there, because they're also a microbrewery and you should be drinking while you eat. The pizzas are very thin-crust, red and white pizza options available, and its fun to throw some crazy toppings on there (in addition to the regulars, they have things like mashed potatoes). The reservation system is little more than a notebook so sometimes they have some issues with it, be forewarned.

Can't Stop Eating this Delicious Pizza

By Nimai Hari |

We were looking for a place to grab some food and watch the games. We were more concerned about food then drinking - we figured this place would be fantastic. This wasn't my first trip here - this certainly will not be my last. I really enjoy the fact that the pizza is extremely thin and feel like I can eat an incredible amount and not feel gross unlike deep dish. This is probably one of my favorite pizza locations in the city. The size of the pizzas are pretty big and they come on these large pans. I would recommend that you try one white pizza and one red pizza - they both are fantastic and provide great flavors.

Highly recommended

By Ni5Kl |

A beautiful location with friendly Service. We had 2 different pizzas to share - both were very delicious. Also the beer was very good - everything was great!

Yum!!

By Paige S |

Met up with some friends who frequent Piece. The pizza was fabulous! You will not leave hungry!! I also ordered a small salad which was plenty to share. Sampled the brew with a flight and truly enjoyed the variety. The service was friendly and efficient, the Brewery has a lively vibe. I would definitely visit again when in Chicago.

Delicious Pizza

By sling43 |

We have been twice to this pizza place in Wicker park. The atmosphere is fun and energetic. The beer and wine selection is local and excellent. The pizza is to die for. My kids are so picky and they loved this place. Both times my husband has ordered the special and said its wonderful. My daughter wants to bring her friends here for her 16th birthday. We don't even live near the city but we will make the trip. Well worth it. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was the service was lacking.

Pizza & Craft Beer!

By Bob6207 |

This is not your normal pizza place. It is wide open eating area with multiple tv's on the walls. The pizzas come out on sheet trays and they are hot. Be aware, there are two small pizzas: one, the 8" for lunch; and, the regular small which feeds one really hungry person or two regular people. You pick the size, then you pick the toppings: The pizza is thin crust, YUM. Oh wait, this is a craft brewery :) I don't normally drink beer, but there were two that were worthy of my thirst: the Prescription Pils, and the Golden Arm. Highly recommended if your in the area.

Awesome Pizza!

By MariaE2468 |

great beers and one of the best pizzas i've eaten! i would definitely come back when i visit Chicago next time :)

Inventive pizza in a fun atmosphere

By dreytuch |

This place has all your favorites and even clam pizza with white sauce. Come with friends and share, as the pizzas and desserts are huge. Great, Piece-brewed awarding winning beers to match up perfectly.

You're either thin or thick crust

By AAGuide |

Chicago is famous for two culinary disasters -thick crust pizza and a zero ketchup in hot dog tolerance.. I'm kidding obviously- thick pizza pie is great, about once a year. Piece on the other hand serves it how I like it - thin crust, big on cheese and high in taste. The bar restaurant vibe is classic Bucktown - friendly, relaxed with sports and people enjoying craft beers. Great bar to enjoy beer, pizza and baseball.

Great for group

By LadyLux86 |

Classic pizza pub. Shabby well loved furnishings and interesting raftered ceiling. As a solo diner who doesn't drink beer, it was good, but not great. Pizza is thin crust, served piping hot with quality ingredients. Sauce choices include red, white, "pink", and Bbq. There's also brunch pizza at certain times. I ordered the individual sized red. Tasty, but pretty skimpy on the sauce. Service was fine. Known for beer flights, I found the wine was merely adequate. Clearly a local favorite. I'd dine here again, but only with a group.

Great, but crowded!

By K C |

The pizza is excellent. Lots of different choices, fresh selections, and a good mix of different and staple pizzas. Love the football style pizzas. Good selection of micro-brews too. The owner worked with me on reserving a table for a very large party for my sister's birthday, and he was extremely accommodating and patient with us bc we were a group of almost 20. Kudos to them for being so customer friendly. Will definitely be back!!

Great pizza, great atmosphere

By Kelly C |

I love stopping at Piece. I'm over the whole deep dish scene. Chicago pizza is more than that. This place has great pizza, beer, great atmosphere. The waitress was quick with our food. I'll go back next time I'm around.

New York Pizza and Great Beer!

By Robin M |

I'm not a fan of deep dish and searched Trip advisor for a good "flat" pizza place. I'm so glad we discovered this gem! Some of the best micro-beer I've had (and I've had my share in Colorado!) and GREAT pizza. The service was excellent and we'll definitely be returning; maybe even tonight!

Not all Chicago pizza is deep dish

By BernardPFife |

This is some of my favorite pizza in Chicago. They also have a good selection of beers on tap, including a rotating selection of in-house brews. The dining room is one, large open space (sort of a warehouse feel), so if the place is crowded, it can get very loud. I've had good service here, and I've gotten pretty poor service here. It tends to draw a 20-30 something crowd, but--even though I'm pushing 50--I've never felt out of place. Rick Nielsen, guitarist and chief songwriter for Cheap Trick is co-owner. I'm guessing the multi-necked guitar on the wall is his.

Best Pizza in Town

Always enjoy and fun place with children if you arrive early Great pizza and draft beer Service could be a little better

Piece Brewery & Eatery

By Sarnia_TravellerCL |

We only experienced Piece as a part of a food tour but would definately schedule it into our next visit. The slice of thin crust we tasted and the sample of beer from the onsite brewery were fabulous!! Make time for this one on one of your nights out as apparently there will be live music to go along with the great food and drinks!

Awesome Pizza

By Jiggy Canfield |

My friend brought me here while on business. Place is hip, cool, beer was very good. They have alcohol too. We started w tortilla chips and this great dip with tomatoes in it. The pies are huge so we got a smaller one with pepperoni which allowed us each to get 3 pieces. Excellent. Would definitely go back.

Fun atmosphere with great beer and pizza.

By dreytuch |

This place has a great atmosphere, super salads and a wonderful, award winning locally brewed beer list. The pizza are big and are not skimpy about the toppings. My favorite salad has fresh pears and lots of blue cheese. Fun place to come with friends. Opens to the outdoors and just feels festive.

Good unique pizza and beer

By Neal E |

Unique pizza to Chicago. Thin and square I believe cooked over coal. In house brewing, too. Kind of a sports bar because they have a lot of TVs but mainly just good food and noisy good fun

Great Pizza

By Joe S |

We drove up to Chicago for a Yankees versus Sox game and I've always wanted to try this place after I heard about it on line. It was everything and more than I expected. The service was great. The staff was eager to serve you. It's very good pizza. Now I know why I've kept hearing great reviews of the place. Plus being a Cheap Trick fan for over 35 years and knowing Rick Nelson is part owner of the place made it a must stop for me.

Authentic New Haven Pizza

By Ek88 |

I am a huge fan of New Haven style pizza. This was right on the mark. Could use a little more blackening to be totally authentic. I would give 5 stars but there were flies EVERYWHERE. Kinda gross...

great place If you are in the neighborhood

By john b |

I would not recommend coming here from afar. Parking in the area is always a problem especially at night. But if are there and want good pizza and great beer, GO. Pizza comes in big rectangular pans. Many toppings, good dough. Huge beer selection. Nice decor, friendly fast service. The more people you come with the better. Long tables. I was never here to watch a sporting event but TVs everywhere. If you can walk there you'll have a fun time with good pizza.

That pizza though..

By Hannah L |

My friends and I ducked in here for a late night dinner and we did not even understand what we were getting ourselves into. The host quoted us roughly 45 minutes for a table so we sat at the bar and grabbed a beer. We were only there for maybe 20 minutes when the host found us to inform us that our table was ready. The server greeted us instantly and we put in an order for some goat cheese dip. The appetizer arrived at the table not even ten minutes later and it was simply amazing. She brought us more bread without even asking and we put in an order for two medium pizzas. We created our own toppings but used her helpful recommendations when choosing sauces. Okay, so two medium pizzas at this place are equivalent to an extra large. I ate two slices and couldn't go on any further. Dare I say it was the best thin crust pizza I've ever had, but I honestly cannot recall anything better. Oh, and the beer is great as well!

My best pizza spot in Chicago

By Malstyles |

Chicago is known for its deep dish Pizza. So I will fill you in on a secret, most Chicagoans don't really order or eat deep dish Pizza. In saying that, this is a thin crust pizza spot that is also a Brewery, i love this place and it is very kid friendly. Great place for groups, the pizzas are very large and the beer selection is very selective but right on. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Really good!

By Ghostrider73 |

Came here for lunch and a beer! Wound up have a few beers and a pizza! Pizza was amazing and the beer was top notch! Great place and will return!

Pizza decent location fun

Best pizza around. Fun place with there own beer. Hard to beat combo Kids friendly as well Always go when I am in Chicago

Not the usual Chicago pizza

By Elizabeth H |

This place has a New England style pizza, not a deep dish. We tried it on a food tour. And a beer too. Both were a big hit. Would go back for the entertainment too.

Good Pizza & Beer Combo Joint

By Mark S |

Is this place in Wicker Park or East Humboldt Park? I don't know. The neighborhoods bleed together to me, the dumb suburbanite. Anyway, whatever neighborhood this is in it's a pretty solid pizza and craft beer place. We ventured in to watch a World Cup game and were pleasantly surprised to see that they turned on the game audio when it started. There are lots of screens in here for sports. The place is pretty big. There were only about five beers on tap that they made on site when we were there and we had a flight and all were rather tasty. We got a red pizza and it was delicious. The service was just fine. Good place. Hope to be back sometime.

Thin Crust Deliciousness!

My absolute favorite place for thin crust pizza (which is New England style). I'm there at least once a month for a meeting or drinks with friends. Favorite pizza: banana peppers, sausage and pepperoni. I prefer wine, but the beers on-tap are award winners. Eager staff. Solid food. This place is HUGE and always crowded. For good reason - the pizza is that good!

Excellent pizza!

This was our first visit to the Wicker Park area of Chicago. We were looking for a place for dinner and found Piece. It was great! We ordered the small white pizza. It was delicious and plenty for two people without having a lot left over. The server was nice and prompt. If you're heading to Wicker Park, I recommend a stop at Piece.

Good pizza, OK beer

The pizza was pretty good but the beer was super average. atmosphere was good though and would be great to go to in the summer when they can open the room.

Good thin pizza

Met friends for here while we were visiting from out of town. We had a good vegetarian pizza and an outstanding salad. Great wine list. You can get a good vegetarian pizza. Good sauce and interesting toppings. You can order your own creation from their large toppings list or get one of their options. Check it out if yo are in the neighborhood.

Best pizza I've ever had!

This place does some seriously good pizza. We visited on our first day and choose the Atomic Doug pizza for 2-3 people. It was huge and we had enough for a doggy box to take home. The taste of the pizza was fantastic - nice and spicy, full of toppings. And the beer which they make themselves is great too. On our final day we visited for drinks and sat at the bar...we started talking to the brewer who came to chat - a free planned drinks turned into many. Recommend for food, drinks and great service in the fun Wicker Park area.

Good food, REALLY close neighbors

Took the Blue line up to Wicker Park to poke around the unique shops and try some New Haven style pizza. No wait on a Monday night around 6:00 (in January). The low-top tables are SO close together...less than a foot apart; the people next to use had to scoot their table over so one of us could get to the shared booth against the wall. The pizza was good - try their signature style; we had ours with only spinach as an extra topping. Beers have won several awards, and the Porter was great. My sister really liked her Kolsch as well. Easy to get to and one of the few restaurants open on a Monday night in Wicker Park.

Great pizza and beer options

By CityHiker73 |

The restaurant was jumping with activity and sports on television early on a Friday evening. We quickly made choices on beer brewed there. It was difficult to decide on our pizza because the menu lists so many options. Our mushroom, basil, feta with red sauce was delicious. The crust was especially pleasing, just the right amount of crispiness.

Yummy pizza, tasty beer

Had their while pizza, award winning Hefeviesen, and Kolsh. All were excellent, as was the atmosphere with many tvs for cubs game and large windows open in the front for fresh air. Would love to go back. Enjoyed ourselves so much we bought a couple of Piece cozies.

Great classic thin pizza and beer, too!

Enjoyed this classic thin pizza! The crafted beers were unusual and several folks in our group tried different ones. All agreed each were very good. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed and service was great.

A Piece of Heaven!

The smell as we entered was so mouthwatering! There were a lot of people and it was packed but we didn't care. It was worth the wait. Considering the lateness of the evening, I was surprised to see a few kids with their parents in some of the tables. It was a great place to bring a whole bunch of friends. If you don't like a noisy atmosphere though I suggest going somewhere else.

A novel name for a pizza joint

It was a dark and stormy night We had take out. It came promptly and hot. This review is boring. The pizza was not. Delicate crust, just the right amount of cheese, fresh toppings. This is the stuff people talk about. Enjoy!!!

Great Local Environment

This is a must do for people that like to experience local color. Great craft beer selection, excellent pizza, nice staff. I would make this part of my regular rotation of eateries if I lived in Chicago.

Amazing Pizza

Couple of English blokes on holiday were brought here by our Chicago Native friends after tickets to go watch the Bears proved too expensive. They were not wrong!! Good atmosphere to watch the Bears lose again!! We shared a pizza between the 4 of us. Quite simply the best pizza i have ever had. Outstanding!

A must try in a world of "Overhyped" Chicago Deep Dish Pizza that Chicago is known for

By Art J |

It's NOT Deep Dish like Lou Malnatis but it is Unique, delicious in it's own right in which this Pizza deserves for the better! The white sauce or "New Haven" style is out of this world!. For Native Chicagoan and tourist this is the spot to try to get away from overhyped deep dish pizza Chicago is popular for. I recommend ordering it with Mash potatoes as a topping and the once now closed "Hot Doug"s brand atomic sausage if you like to try spicy. You can also do classic Anchovies which is a rarity for pizza places that are franchised. I also recommend to try their beer brewery which it is also known for. If you are with a big group the large pizza will be more than enough. If you do carryout I do suggest you make sure your friend's and family will be coming over since this pizza is served best hot and fresh from the oven. I did carry out which is why I say this and which is why I cannot give it a perfect 5 stars because of the quality when NOT eaten right away. It is still great pizza for 4 stars! Also try their Chocolate Pizza as well as the Barbecue Pizza if you are adventurous or a risk taker! I have tried the Chocolate Pizza and was amazed at the dessert pizza. Very tasty!
