Disappointed meat lover

By Richard B |

Appetizer: empanadas were good, not great, pastry shell was over done, very hard and crunchy Beef filet (lomo): ordered medium, served medium well +, tasteless, tough, chewy, almost as if prepared in a microwave Sausage: edible but lacking flavors or heat, very bland Spare rib: this was cooked nicely and tasted good although it still needed sauce to add something to the meat Mac n cheese: bland, flavorless, not heated well with part of the dish still cold and unheated Service: server was very good and attentive

Fantastic new Argentinian restaurant

By PtLomafoodie |

Less than 1 year old, Piedra Santa (Saint Peter) is the “Gate to Heavenly” restaurants in San Diego. Gorgeous DECOR, beautiful floor tiles, bar, murals, floral ceiling with umbrellas….invokes a lively restaurant /bar in Argentina. The Tomahawk STEAKS on display behind glass are show-stopping. The restaurant is a steak house, but also includes seafood, lamb, chicken. Steaks are Prime cut and cooked to perfection. Argentinian WINES are included on the menu as well as wines from Spain & California. The cocktails are tasty and have cute regional names like “Rosario Rosario” martini. Secret: Come for the HAPPY HOUR. Seating for Happy Hour is to the left of the door, with a gas fireplace, booth seating and table seating, with a view of the gorgeous bar and wall murals. The PRICES at Happy Hour are ridiculously good. $1.50 per oyster. $24 New York Strip Steak (10 Oz) with mashed potatoes. Appetizers like 3 empanadas for $15. Our server Eric was knowledgeable, competent, friendly, and he even let my husband switch his drink order. I suggest you give the server your drink and appetizer order first. And later place your dinner entree order. Otherwise, if you order all at once, the appetizers may arrive after your entrees! Great restaurant, and I will return!

Fantastic fine dining Argentinian Steakhouse in downtown San Diego!

This was our first time visiting Pietro Santa. The restaurant just opened early May 2025. I had been walking by here several times as it was putting on the finishing touches before opening. It is a fabulous place! The ambience is just beautiful and immediately rises to the top of the finer dining venues in San Diego. Not only is the decor and ambience stunning but the food and service were equally amazing. We were very warmly greeted by Marina when we entered the restaurant and she took us to our table. The menu offers a wide range of selections that are sure to please everyone’s palette. My wife and I ended up ordering a beet carpaccio and a tuna tartare for our appetizers knowing that meat was going to be what we order for our entrées. The beef checks or the steak tartare looked so appealing but we stayed on the lighter side. They were both excellent! For entrees we ordered an Argentinian Rib Eye and a Veal Milanese. Nobody offers a good Veal Milanese in San Diego and finally I have found a place that does it not only well but amazingly well. It was delicious and done the traditional way. As we learned the ownership ties are to both Argentina and Italy so I see how the Veal Milanese became part of the menu! The rib eye was also delicious. It was well marbled, super tender and served at exactly the right temperature. We shared a potato gratin with mushrooms which was also delicious. Our server, Rivai, was outstanding. She offered helpful insight into the menu, was super friendly and attentive. All in all it was a tremendous experience that already makes into the Top 3 in downtown restaurants in our opinion! Bravo! We can’t wait to return!
