The cafe is located on the water so there are some great outside views on a nice day. There is a heated outdoor area with clear plastic tenting. The food is primarily seafood and reasonable in cost. The atmosphere is very casual, nothing fancy at all.

Superb location, however half the tables are in an outside awning thing and the rest outside. No matter. The place is right Next to the water. Looks a bit scruffy it has to be said but the service is jolly. The food is outstanding. I had a special, shrimps and grits. Not sure what the grits is, but the flavours were sublime, probably the most flavoursome food I’ve had in 16 days of California eating. Should you go? 100% yes.

Located between the Alcatraz terminal and the exploratorium it was a quick spot to stop. I've had very touristy and not so good meals on the waterfront in San Francisco. While not cheap, the meal was surprisingly good. I ate a cheeseburger because I was seafooded out. I did sample my wife's clam chowder. I'd definitely eat that again. The garlic fries were good, although some might like a tad bit more garlic. My son chowed down on two huge pieces of fish. I thought the fish and chips (his order) was large enough to share. The service was friendly and that's always a big issue with me.

We visit the Pier 23 Cafe Restaurant everytime we are in SF. It is an old, classical down-to-earth restaurant, almost rarety these days in the town, with the possibility to be seated by the Ocean with the view. The food is OK, but the Clam-chowder never disappoints! They also know how to make an excellent mojito. Live jazz bands often play acoustically. We don't usually specifically go out our way to go there, but each time we are strolling the area- we love to stop by.

HORRIBLE service! Seriously not worth the hassle- we had a waitress that was snide and super unhelpful. The food really wasn’t anything to write about - I feel like we missed trying a really cool place when we ate here 😟

Delicious crab dip, friendly and professional staff. We were there on a Sunday night when they had a great band.

Fisherman’s Wharf sometimes can be very crowded and touristy. We opted to take a vintage streetcar from near Fisherman’s Wharf (Jones St. and Beach St.) just a few stops East to Pier 23. This also gives you the wonderful experience of riding back in time on this mint condition trolly. The stop is directly across the street from the café and crossing here is no problem. This is a small restaurant with an outdoor area on the pier. Some of it is shaded and some not. We decided to sit out in the Sun, which brought us closer to the water. The menu is what you’d expect for a restaurant on a pier, and they also had decent selection of local brews. The fish & chips consisted of 2 large pieces of fish in a light batter with fries. Crab cakes were also good. Service was efficient and very pleasant. I recommend you download the Muni Mobile app. For just $13 for one day, it allows you ride on any of San Francisco’s cable cars, street cars, and buses (not the BART). It really frees you up from looking for parking and is cheaper than alternatives.

The restaurant/bar sits waterfront and offers a good amount of tables. It sits in a very good spot to take a break, From the Embarcadero walk. Both the bloody Marie and virgin Marie tasted watered down. Flavor was ok/average. A beer might be the way to go. We tried the fish and chips. It was below average. The batter was very oily. The batter flavor and texture did not work for me either. The fish itself tasted fresh. The garlic fries was strange with the fish - just my opinion - they did taste ok. Tourist spot! Best part was sitting and enjoying the view.

Whenever I am in SF I make sure to eat at least ones at this wonderful place directly at the pier. Whereas most places in that area are pretty touristy, this restaurant seems to be still family owned and managed. But modt important thing: the food is just awesome!! If you haven‘t tried it yet, do it!!

If my group of friends and I had experienced such service in the UK, I would have spoken to the manager. In this establishment, and I say establishment lightly, I didn't see any point. Rude and quite frankly intimidating staff, who made comments to one of our group, also who violently slammed his hand on the bar, made our whole evening deflate. Not a place I would visit again and clearly many feel the same, Friday evening and only the staff to fill the place. Lose the persons with poor attitude and low service skills and your bar might just survive.

Restuarant is right on the water "hence" pier. It was a little cramp in my opinion. There were pigeons flying and walking around inside believe it or not. We live in Louisiana so I might be a little bias but we wasnt a fan of the shrimp at all. The drinks were strong but they were able to add juice on request. I have never had garlic fries until I tried then here and they were great. Everything in the pictures was good except the shrimp. Bathrooms were clean, staff semi friendly, I say semi because when we asked if we can get juice added to the drinks or switch them out our server seemed annoyed. He was talking to another employee when we told him we were ready to order and again he seemed annoyed, other than that it was a calm and cool atmosphere.

Had the clam and fish chowder, was just so so and my girlfriends had a hair in it. We shared the ceasar salad which wasn't the greatest. Best thing about the meal was the garlic French fries. Wouldn't recommend.

Early dinner with team from work, the food was very nice though not a lot of choice. The server was unfortunately rude from the beginning and jusr kept getting worse, I have rarely experienced such unprofessional and obnoxious attitude anywhere, and I eat out most days. Not to mention that we had some of the most expensive items on the menu..We left a tip out of respect for the rest of the staff but it was really not worth it..pity

Pier 23 is a popular restaurant in between fisherman wharf and the Ferry Building. The food is good, although, reading the reviews and the recommendation for a reservation, and how hard it is to get a table – I would have expected it to be stellar, which It’s not, but it is good. My dining companion and I wanted to try many things, so we over ordered. Highlights: the crab cakes were good, the fish rillette is actually quite tasty, and the chowder was also very good. The calamari was OK, but nothing to write home about. Service was prompt and decent, and the atmosphere is about what one would expect for an establishment in this part of SF, with a rather out of place Chinese god of good fortune statue on the patio. Overall, definitely worth a try if you’re in the area, although I do not know that I would go out of my way to go again. My assumption as to why its reviews are so high are probably its proximity to the cruise ship docking area – and I will say it is better than the average tourist trap restaurant that is found in Fisherman’s Wharf. Definitely worth a try.

This is my first time at this restaurant -and my traveling companion's favorite restaurant. The chowder was amazing. My shrimp and crab salad was delicious. The crab was fresh and portion was huge. and that sour dough bread- yummy! We enjoyed sitting outside, and had great service.

Was walking past and decided to stop for a beer and loved sitting outside in the sun. The food we ordered was ok but the chowder was very bland so avoid that. The lamb tacos were tasty however. This place is all about the views of the weather is nice though.

We had a wonderful lunch at Pier 23. The Clam Showder was to die for! The staff were nice, professional and happy. Don't miss ut.

was in town for a conference and one of my colleagues loves this place. we all ordered seafood and it was all good. I had mussels which were awesome. none were closed so they all were fresh and alive when cooked. it was a good meal and good service. band playing up in front was good too. nothing special but good food and good service.

Typical place for simple things.... Cold beer, IPA’s, and we ordered the bacon and crab dip. Again, nothing fantastic here.

Even on a rainy day, this unassuming restaurant is great! From the Embarcaderro sidewalk, Pier 23 looks like a typical old dive bar, but tucked in back is a patio on the water! Definately casual, definately great fish & chips, definately a great place to hang out, eat sip your favorite beverage, rain or sunshine!

Looked for a nice restaurant. First impression on the outside was misleading. Had very friendly waiter. Mac and cheese with crab meat appetizer was a full meal. Prices were reasonable for San Francisco

My daughter and I enjoyed a nice dinner overlooking the water. We even saw a seal swim by. Prices were reasonable, service was ok but the food was great. I had halibut and my daughter had sea bass. Both were cooked perfectly, served with great sides and were delicious. Ambience is very casual.

We stopped for a refreshing beverage and shared a crab Louie salad with a side of bread.... turned out to be a perfect lunch with great service and a lovely ambience.

This restaurant maybe right in the tourist area but it still delivers. It has a 'period' look to it, like something out of the 50s that gives it some character (opposed to most places on the wharf). We sat on the deck in the sunshine with a great view over the bay. The staff were very friendly and the lunch menu extensive, mainly sea food. Our party of 4 all had a different dish and the were all really tasty and not too expensive for this area.

Visited with two friends for dinner and drinks which we thought was a beautiful pier restaurant but to are surprise the customer service we received from Dean are waiter was appalling. As we began to enjoy are meal about 5 minutes in Dean are waiter asked us would we like deserts a bizarre question to ask half way through eating the main course when we hadn’t even thought about deserts yet we kindly said no for now and he said we will need to wrap things up and drop down the cheque which is not how restraunts work. We hadn't even finished are meal yet. He continued to hassle us and watch us till we produced a card and sent down numerous staff members to see if we produced are card and tips. When kindly asked for WiFi we were told it was not working today. Which is silly in this day in age for a restaurant to not have working WiFi. I was still picking at my chips when Dean came over for a 3rd time and tried to get payment off us and tips as he was finishing his shift. Finally we were made feel so uncomfortable we gave over a card for payment and we didn’t even finish are drinks yet. We would finish are drinks and then hand over tips but because dean sent down another member of staff to look to see if we left a tip on the table we felt uncomfortable so tipped and left. Unfortunately for Pier 23 myself and my friends would have stayed for deserts and more drinks the view and food was lovely but as Dean was so rude we were left angered and refused to be treated that way any further. I would like to thank the chiefs of Pier 23 for the delightful food but as for Dean if he is your server kindly ask for a different one!

We were walking along the Embarcadero when it began to pour. Across the street we spotted a haven from the onslaught. Pier 23 wasn't much to look at from the outside but, once we had opened the door and stepped inside, it was so much larger, brighter and livelier than we had imagined. The place was packed, however we were able to grab two chairs at the bar. The bartender and the folk sitting near us at the bar were all quite friendly. We only had drinks but did have a chance to glance at the menu. This was definitely a fish place. Most of the diners appeared to be regulars and most had some sort of seafood in front of them. It was our loss for not getting the opportunity to return to Pier 23 to try the food.

This restaurant was featured on the TV show “Triple D”. I had the shrimp and crab salad sandwich which was incredibly good. Would have loved to try the crab but at a market price of $60 that seemed a little too steep.

The food was absolutely terrible. My 22.00 plate of clams, actually it was 24.00 because I didn't want the mussels were so overcooked that I could not eat them. Of the 15 people in our party several people left their plates full of food. The lady next to me ordered a burger and after taking two bites she put it down saying how awful it was. Service was not the greatest either.

We stopped off for dinner after cycling across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito and back! We were seated in the garden area - great view! Didn’t have to wait for a table. We ordered 3 small plates between us - maybe we misunderstood thinking they would be starter size - they were huge. We recommend the crab mac and cheese, jumbo prawns and quesadilla - all was super tasty and full of flavour, some of the best food we’ve had in San Fran! Had a great atmosphere with live music, great way to end the day!

the Fall salad special was a big hit for me - squash, persimmons, dates, arugula, roasted nuts. the home made Baked Hawaiian with 3 types of ice cream richly coated in a burnt marshmallow with a small drizzle of 3 different sauces was BEST DESERT I have ever had Throw a fun, no cover Boogie Woogie 3 piece band - I'll be back

IF I COULD GIVE THIS 0 STARS I WOULD!! Worst service I have ever ever experienced, from a very stocky gentleman with black hair that worked behind the bar. The bar man’s attituded was absolutly disgusting! Screaming in my fiancée’s face trying to intimidate her is totally unacceptable, he is a discussing human being who seems to think this is acceptable. I would never ever recommend this cafe/bar to anyone, no lady should ever be spoken to in such a manner. The reason being was because another customer hadn’t given him a tip, with his service I’m not surprised!! I would never put my partner in that situation ever ever again, worst place I have ever been to. Do not put your partners in that situation either, avoid the place!!

Golden Rule: Treat your bartender right and they will treat you right. Had a blast while visiting family in San Francisco and this stop was one of the reasons why. enjoyed some delicious chicken and waffles and cheesy sourdough toast while catching up with old friends and soaking up some sunshine. The outdoor patio was beautiful but filled up quick.

This place is right on the water with plenty of space on there patio or indoors with a cozy feeling ether way you will enjoy some of the best food you can think of service was great!!! And they had a live band playing music!!

Went before a giants game. Great food and location. Right on The Embarcadero. Long walk to att park. Take an uber. But food was great. I had the fried fish sandwich. Every crispy piece of fish. Crispy fries. Nice views of the bay. Friendly staff.

What a treat! My husband and I were walking around Fisherman's Wharf and stopped in here unsure where to go. Figured we would grab a beer & determine where to go next. It just looks like a hole in the wall. The bar is small, but the bartender was so friendly. We ended up having a couple beers here as well as fish tacos which were yummy. There is a pianist there which doesn't really match the atmosphere but somehow it made it that much more special. Fun visit!

Lunch with son, was very good, I had a cup of chowder (wish I ordered a bowl), was top notch & Aldo had a crab cocktail, was good also. Don had pulled pork sando, said was very good. Will go back.

Pier 23 is our favorite place for casual drinks and food along the Embarcadero. The food is reliably great, with a sizeable menu, fresh ingredients, and generous portions. The drink selection includes several local craft beers and wines, along with tasty cocktails. Very friendly bartenders and wait staff, too. Lots of outdoor seating with table service on their patio, plus self-serve seating in a beer garden. Definitely worth a stop if you're near the Embarcadero on a nice day!

The place is located in the pier and has a nice bar and bay view garden It is cool to seat in the garden and have a drink or a small bite for lunch I ordered the crab and shrimp sandwich which was very good although a little expensive. Overall I paid 32$ for the sandwich and a lemonade Overall a nice experience

We spotted this place walking from the Alcatraz ferry to the Ferry Building. So glad we stopped here for lunch as the Ferry Building proved to be most underwhelming and there were only a few restaurants there. Great food. Lovely seating outside or in the shade. Would happily eat here again.

What a nice place to go for some great seafood dishes. You can sit inside or outside. The place is welcoming and fun. The food is quite good!

Visited for lunch with 2 friends on a Wednesday afternoon. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our experience was ruined by our rude and intrusive server, Dean. At first, our waiter was pleasant and friendly. This all changed when it was nearly the end of Dean’s shift. The check was presented to us within the first 5 mins of is receiving our food. It was clear we were no where near ready to receive this as our table was full of food and untouched beverages. We decided ignore the check until we had finished our food, much to Dean’s disgust. We paid via credit card, which was strange considering that we were advised that the WiFi was “not working”. Made me wonder how a credit card machine was supported without an internet connection. More issues arose when it came to tipping.. We had still not finished our drinks, so we decided to postpone tipping up until we had finished our drinks. During this time Dean watched over us from the bar counter and sent 2 other servers to walk past our table to glance at our tip. We could feel stares coming from the staff and were able to hear whispering and sniggering towards us from the waiting staff. This was truly unacceptable. Once our drinks were finished, we tipped what we thought was a fair and acceptable amount considering the level of service we received. Our tip was met by sarcastic “appreciate it” by the infamous Dean. Compliments to the chef, the food was divine, however I could not give this restaurant a higher rating because of the deplorable level of service received.

Spent a few hours here and loved the vibe. We grabbed a few beers and a snack. Enjoyed the outdoors beer hall as we got lucky with the sunny weather yesterday in SFO. The draught costs about 8 dollars and the bottles 6. Try catch the happy hours at around 1500 for nice deals. Have a fun day or evening enjoy your time.

Had the fish and chips. The fish was excessively greasy and tasteless. The fries were cold. The cold slaw was the only edible part of my dinner vi told my waiter. I told the hostess. No one cared. I shall not return!

We ordered the fish and chips and the fish tacos. Both dishes were very good. The portions are small though. The server was friendly and the food came out fast.

First off the waitress was rude and unattentive. When I asked some questions about the menu (I have a gluten allergy) and asked what the dish entailed, she answered smartly and rolled her eyes. Never once during our meal did our server refill our drinks or ask if we needed anything. I did notice her eating and socializing with her coworkers so obviously she was too busy for her paying customers. My dish was subpar and my friend's fish was greasy. I recommend people keep looking for a better seafood restaurant and skip this place.

I think their burger was one of the best I’ve ever had! Simply delicious, with incredibly tasty garlic fries! Wow I was impressed. The service was ok, not the friendliest but efficient with an attitude. The view is fantastic. If you are looking for a date night as for a table away from the band, it gets loud.

We visited during the week for lunch. The lunch was amazing....but the fish burger was pretty tasteless. The bee and wine were great tasting and fresh. The Clam Chowder is a must try if you are dining in. They have a good range of local beers from around the area. The place appears to be very busy at lunch time, which is always a good sign. I would certainly visit here again.

The restaurant looks very small from the street. But inside the atmosphere makes up for any crowding! The night we visited, a jazz band was playing with "guest" singers. It felt like being part of the neighborhood. We were fortunate to get a table outside overlooking the water. The food was wonderful and the service great. It was a high point of our trip to San Fran.

I am in town for the San Francisco RocknRoll Half marathon and looked this place up. The food was delicious. The atmosphere is awesome and there is outdoor water view seating. The fried fish tacos and quesadilla was incredible. So much flavor and cooked perfectly.

One of the few places with a beer garden where you can just drink Bayside. Very friendly, good drinks and always made to feel welcome. Can get busy with millennials that have no volume control or manners. But that is a San Fran disease

Stopped off here while walking along the Piers - didn’t expect much from the bar entrance and slightly frosty welcome but once seated we had great service and decent food at sensible prices. Great views too.

Went here on a sunny October lunch. The service was friendly and the Fish Tacos were tasty, although on the expensive side for the portion.

Great Location, but very unfriendly service. Didn't feel welcome at all. We spent a few 100 bucks and weren't able to seat ourselves out in the sun. We had to leave.

Great fish tacos and chowder. Went for dinner prior to band arriving. The restaurant had bar inside and indoor seating. Arrived just before dinner rush. Had to order from the bar but the food arrived quickly and was very good. Drinks were perfect as well.

Stopped into the pier 23 cafe for lunch with our three little ones. Seated decently quickly. We sat outside which was okay, but probably should have sat inside or under the awning, but that was our choice. The service was okay, the food was okay, the atmosphere was okay. This restaurant was okay, but has a lot of potential. The price was a little high for the quality, but I guess it is San Francisco.

Typical overpriced mediocre tourist food, with the added "bonus" of charging a "City Surcharge" instead of just adding it to the price of the food. So not worth it.

The food was ok but our waitress was everything but good to be honest she was disaster!! We told her that it would maby be a good idea if she found something else to do for a living as her bad attitude would scare people away. She ended of with drawing $200 from one of our cards instead of $20.

we stopped here on a whim and I fell with the place the food was great and service was above par. I will eat here again....

We took the family to the Exploratorium and took a break for lunch. Daughter who works in City suggested Pier 23, I have never heard of. So glad she did, nice menu, specials and kids menu. Prices are fair, good beer list and probably the best chowder in the City.

My wife and I had a wonderful lunch here today. We tried the chowder, Steamed clams, fish and chips and the seafood platter. Everything was hot and very tasty. The service was great also with our waitress being available to us and checking to make sure everything was great and it was. Try this place if you are on the pier.

All I could think about while eating hear with my wife on Valentines was what Robert Irvine from Restaraunt Impossible would say. I had the clam chowder, it had no flavor...no seasoning, and I got one potato in the chowder. There was no salt and pepper on the table. My wife and I both had the fish and chips. The garlic fries were okay but needed more seasoning, the fish was blah...not cooked in the middle, not crispy on the outside and had no flavor. Try a little salt people. My wife did enjoy the dessert...that was about all. We wanted to like this place...the service was great and the staff was nice. Disappointing food. And it was very hot on the "patio".

The treatment they gave to us was terrible. Their excuse... we are too busy.. The first time in United States that the personal of a restaurant has been that rude with us. Don't go!

The hostess was not very present, we almost left but decided the pier side view was worth taking a chance. The service was alright, friendly but everyone seemed in a hurry. The food was, you guessed it, alright. Three stars for our servers 1 star for the hostess

Great food and very friendly. We had a relaxing lunch with a friend, everything was delicious and the seafood is very fresh. It's bright in the outside eating area, but but they have hats you can borrow! :-)

We ate at Pier 23 after a tour of Alcatraz. Service was excellent, fish and chips very good, as was the chowder and the chicken sandwich. Lots of choices on the menu made it hard to choose! A little pricey, but it is San Francisco.

Came here for lunch after Exploratorium visit. Good food and friendly, fast service. Family of four had shrimp and crab sandwich, fish and chips, mussels and crabs, and pasta with butter. We all enjoyed it and the view. Don’t listen to the haters - it’s a good place for lunch.

First, the view from outside is great. Overlooking the bay, the tables outside are nice. The food is good but I think overpriced. $15 for two fish tacos. The sauce is good but it was loaded with greens and a small slice of cod. The chowder was better. Go and enjoy the view but prepare to pay a little but most places in San Francisco are charging this rate anyways.

This was a delicious seafood restaurant that we have visited a couple times when we were in town. The fish and chips and chowder are amazing. We recently had a group of 15 with us and everyone raved about how good the food was and how wonderful the experience. Definitely a stop worth making if you are craving delicious seafood and a great view.

The grilled oysters were amazing. Excellent service too. We enjoyed a couple of cocktails and had the chowder. Very nice meal.

Buried in the tourist hell that the San Francisco pier area has become is this gem. We knew we were onto something when we were sitting at the bar waiting on our table and those waiting with us were local folks. I try to find good places that locals go to when I travel to touristy places. The bar staff was great the atmosphere was as expected and fun. We enjoyed some local seafood at our table outside with a wonderful pier view. Our wait staff was very helpful, courteous, prompt and engaging. For us this was the highlight of our dining experience for the long holiday weekend that included San Francisco, Santa Cruz and Monterey. Keep up the great work and on my return to the city I will definitely return!

Three of us dropped in as we were too tired to keep walking the waterfront. Went here last time we were in San Fran and knew it would be good. Table by the water, all ordered the clam chowder and sour dough bread. Good service, chowder was excellent. All very happy. It has a good bar and beer garden too.

Sitting on the marina was fun for both the adults and teens. It is fun spot to people watch as well, The food was marginal...but not bad. Favorite was the garlic bread appetizer. They also have a fantastic Brunch Bloody Mary.

We headed to this restaurant for the sunshine by the water. The locals were fun, they enjoyed the banter with us Aussies. Joey's food is outstanding, the service is great. Pity it was on our last day in San Francisco otherwise we would have been back the next day. Joeys Scallops with mushrooms, asparagus were Moorish and the deserts were out of this world, the lime pie and the strawberry shortcake YUMACIOUS. (no other words for it....) except, "was it amazing..... Sure John!"

This is the perfect place to come if you want to eat down at the piers without too many other tourists and crowds. The restaurant is a really cute diner and make sure you get a seat outside on the deck as the view is great. We had good food too; wings, prawns and prosecco :)

We went last night for dinner and we were well happy . Most of us had tuna steak and it was very tasty. Lovely and friendly staff , it was bit colder evening but we wanted sit outside so they switched heating for us . Very nice view and food 😊

Stopped here for a drink with friends. We thoroughly enjoyed the friendliness of the locals and staff. Great place to rest from 'touristing'.

The worst service I have ever received, the barman was rude, totally unprofessional, and tried to intimate the women. I would never ever recommend this bar to anyone, it definitely isn't tourist friendly! Avoid it, there are far far better bar/restaurants around.

So I was walking along the pier from 39 to 1 and stumbled upon this place. Thought we would stop for a drink and found some amazing service and bourbon . Amil is an excellent bar tender. He has an excellent knowledge of the bourbons and showed some superb examples for tasting You have to try the warm hospitality and bourbons This place comes highly recommended

Me and my group of friends were left disgusted by the attitude of one of the bar staff. He was a bully, shouted at us aggressively to give him more money for tips, if not he told us to get the f*** out of the bar, we were all left shocked and it spoiled what was a fantastic night in San Francisco. Please avoid if you are a tourist visiting the area, they don't seem to like outsiders in the bar.

Family riding by on bikes so stopped in for Sunday lunch. We had the fish and chips and the shrimp, kids had hot dogs. You are by the water it is not a great view but less crazy than Pier 39. So for something casual and good seafood give it a try.

This place has top-notch seafood dishes, some of the best we’ve ever had! You can’t beat the views of the water and the outdoor seating area. They also had great beer specials while we were in town. This place is a must if you’re in the SF area and want an impressive meal.

Didn’t eat but stopped for a couple of sunny happy hour beers in an authentic-feeling pierside bar. No pretensions, grab a beer at the bar and take it outside.

We had dinner in several places whilst in san fzracisco but this was one of our favourites. its on the water but set away from the very busy fishermans wharf. The food and service was excellent and overall the place had a great and very relaxed vibe......well worth a visit

I liked the location and view as we had a great seat. But the service was terrible and I couldn't eat most of my fish (and chips). Overpriced and nothing great. My wife didn't care for the clam chowder at all. If you go, just drink.

The gluten free soup was outstanding , as well as the entree. We had the special of the day seafood and enjoyed every bite. When you enter, it is a bit loud but has the feel of a bar so great for those looking for that . There is also a seating area in the middle of the building with a bar and it is considerably more quiet in that area. We were seated inside the tent by the bay and it was ideal.

We had lunch on a terrific sunny day overlooking the bay! Service was great too. I had crab cakes and he had the biggest french toast breakfast I've ever seen. Delish! Had bloody mary's and they were good too! Highly recommend and we will return on our next trip to San Francisco. Worth the experience.

I have dropped in for lunch here on a number of occasions, both during the week and on weekends. It is located in between Fisherman's Wharf and The San Francisco Ferry Building on the water front. You can watch the big cruise ships leave the dock right up close. It seems like a local place to eat, and it is....non-pretentious atmosphere, caters to the employees of the wharf and the office buildings across the street, especially during the week. The food, however, is first-rate! I had fish and chips, crunchy batter on the fish, great fries and coleslaw. Also, had oysters on the half shell. Fresh and delicious, also. I have had the crab and shrimp sandwich, and, again....fresh, fresh, fresh!!! They have a great beer menu and a fabulous wine list, both foreign and domestic. This is a fantastic place to go for a great lunch!! Haven't been there for dinner, yet!!! Again, totally non-pretentious, fun and great eats!!

Years and years ago I would go to PIer 23 for beers and loud music. Now that I have children, who were too tired to walk from the Exploratorium to Pier 39 for dinner - I have rediscovered Pier 23 as a great place for a reasonably priced family dinner on a lovely deck overlooking the San Francisco Bay. From the fish tacos to the sauteed clams, we were all thrilled with our food choices - even the non-seafood burger crowd was happy. There was live music inside and it looked like people were having a great time.

The food was excellent and very well presented. Service nice and polite. Had baked oysters and fish tacos. Recommended

We've been visiting this restaurant for years and were delighted to return post pandemic. The menu changed and we were disappointed that all the Sunday brunch dishes we enjoyed (crab benedict) were gone, but the revised menu is delicious and the location and setting and atmosphere are still great.

Our waiter was particularly friendly and efficient, with knowledge of the menu. We had clam chowder, halibut and a salad and were not disappointed. It was very relaxing to have lunch in the sun next to the water in an otherwise busy, touristy section of town.

Waterfront location, but not a brilliant one. Better view out front watching the comings and goings along The Embarcadero. Very busy when we were there, service pretty slow as a consequence. It was fairly hot weather so the cold beer went down a treat. We'd eaten earlier but seeing someone else eating the Chowder persuaded us to give it a try - hot & tasty. It isn't cheap and for the price paid you really want better service. Might drop in again, but won't be rushing back

Just called in here for a couple of drinks in the beer garden. Lovely atmosphere and vibe. Thoroughly enjoying a couple of pints in the sunshine and watched a cruiser set off. I’m thirsty thinking about it

We tried Pier 23 Cafe our last night in the city. We wanted a relaxed casual place with a view of the water. There is outdoor seating that can get a little chilly in the evening. They do have heaters on the outdoor terrace to make the seating more comfortable. We sampled a little of everything fish and chips, lobster mac and cheese, pizza, and garlic sautéed shrimp. It was all good what I would call pub food. There was a piano player inside playing tunes. Great place to relax and have fun.

We ate outside, since there was an incredibly loud band (and later TV sports) inside. Décor is plastic tables & chairs. The view would be the best thing about this...except that we got there a bit late, as the sun was going down. Even in June, that's no joke; it's cold, and we could have used coats. Food was average and a bit pricey, but that's because of the location.

A basic restaurant with outdoor seating on the bay. Service is always good and food is tasty but nothing special. Seating on the patio along the bay is nice. Sunglasses are a must for a sunny day.

Pier 23 was recommended to us for a place to have a drink on the water! Pier 23 is a bar/restaurant with outdoor seating. The inside bar is very small. I asked if there was an area outside for drinks and I was directed to a specific area on the side of the bar. No one mentioned that there are no servers there, but I figured it out. I went to the bar and was waited on promptly. There is also a restaurant area in back outside with servers. It was really windy, but we enjoyed a drink outside overlooking the bay. Drink prices were reasonable!

We were sailing out on the Grand Princess, but unable to board until 1pm. We stopped in at Pier 23 Cafe in hopes of breakfast and coffee. They advised they weren't serving food until 11:30, but we could order drinks. My husband ordered an Irish coffee and I ordered a Long Island iced tea. We sat there leisurely drinking our drinks, all the while watching numerous people pop their head in asking if breakfast was being served (no) or they would peer in the windows and then keep walking. We should have lugged our luggage down to Pier 39 (or taken a street car) down to where the restaurants were at and had ourselves a nice meal at that point (we did this later). We figured we'd wait until 11:30. The bar tender was sour and rude. I don't think he cracked a smile the entire time. Didn't ask how our drinks were or offer additional drinks or even water. Once we received the menus we decided the food wasn't for us (we totally should have done this first) and we asked for our bill. My husband went up to the bar and paid it and then tried to scurry past me to the exit. I asked to see the bill. He said "no". I asked again, knowing I was going to be furious. He hands it to me and I literally say, out loud in a loud voice, "ARE YOU blanking ME"? An older woman who had been working in the corner of the bar looks up and stares at me. I asked again, "Is this bill for real?!" Her response, I kid you not..."Well, it IS San Francisco." Ohhhhh. I see. Because you're in a city famous for high prices you justify gouging your customers? The Irish coffee was $10, the Long Island Promo (that's what they printed on the receipt) was $16, Tax was $2.21 for a balance due of $28.21. FOR TWO DRINKS! $16 for a lousy Long Island iced tea? My husband said the Irish coffee was very good, but how do you screw that up? Coffee, a shot of whiskey and some whipped cream. The Long Island iced tea was definitely nothing to write home about and it was served with a side of attitude. Oh and lest we forget this tid bit...the cafe was swarming with flies. I realize we're on the water and there are a lot of doors and windows open, but blech. Flies? In a restaurant. You've been informed about the ridiculous drink prices. We will not be back.

Really unimpressed with this place. $16 for two mini fish taco's is expensive even by San Fran standards. There is better value with better views all over the city, give this place a wide berth.

After an extended SF city guides tour we needed a late lunch/early dinner and this place was recommended. There was a line, but hostess was friendly and we eventually ordered fish and chips and a burger at the bar. We were directed to the waterfront back patio and expected a long wait -- but the food came quickly and was tasty --just what we needed.

It has the ambience of a tacky cafeteria. Great location and the food is good but the service is completely lacking. Self-seating. Ordering and payment by mobile phone. Food gets dropped off in a rather impersonal manner. The restaurant has the gall to automatically add 20% gratuity despite the fact that service is minimal. Once a go to restaurant in our neighborhood is now a don't go restaurant. Hopefully the owner will sell the restaurant and new management will make it better.

Mid Saturday brunch for 5. We were seated quickly. Service was excellent and many food items to choose from for the seafood and land lover. We had seafood chowder, crispy wings, shrimp salads and corned beef hash. Great food taste, portion and presentation. Dessert we had root beer float and Captain Crunch Pot de creme (outstanding). Enjoy!

Great view on the water. Excellent fish sandwich and seafood sandwich. Great service. Nice atmosphere and delicious food.

Came upon this cafe and decided to go in. Menu slanted luckily towards seafood. Had a great crap and shrimp sandwich. Very tasty, but grilling it would’ve put it over the top. Crab cakes were good but I’ve actually had better. Garlic fries smelled better than they tasted. Had a good kids menu, but thought $8 for a bowl of pasta and butter.....literally, pasta and butter, was ridiculous. Saw lots of great looking dishes passing by me. I think this place serves great food generally speaking. I would try it again.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and had a delightful summer salad with cantaloupe and a tasty chili dressing along with a more traditional dressing. So good I asked for bread to clean the plate

A few years ago, I visited Pier 23 and had the most amazing crab legs. I've thought about those crab legs, roasted in white wine sauce, many times since then. So, when I was planning a recent trip to San Francisco, I definitely wanted to have this meal again. I checked out the menu online and didn't see the crab legs. I sent an email to the restsurant and Mac replied within minutes. He agreed to have the crab legs for me if I gave him 24 hours notice. I did and he came through. I had the crab legs and they were uh-Mazing! I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. During dinner, my sister said, "You're humming. Why are you humming?" I told her because I was having one of the best meals ever. Pier 23 is locatef on the Wharf, but is far enough away from all the touristy stuff. I highly recommend this place for the crab legs, but even if you don't like them, I'm sure you'll find other things on the menu. My sisters enjoyed their fish and chips and wings. Oh yeah, the cocktails and wine are generous and the staff is friendly.

The food and the service were fast and efficient and eating seafood on a dock in San Francisco is always appropriate. We both had the fish and chips and it was very tasty. It came with a jalapeno tarter sauce that was amazing and the cole slaw was very unique. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We stopped here for a late lunch after Alcatraz. It looks like nothing from the outside but once inside it’s much larger with a nice outdoor seating area. The clam chowder was very good. Portions were also decent. It’s a good choice for a meal along the pier and reasonably priced

Went to Pier 23 today with two friends. We were greeted by our waiter Dean. From beginning to end the service was intolerable. Half way through us eating our mains Dean arrived to our table to hand up the bill and quote "wrap this up" . There was absolutely nothing to be wrapped up we hadn't even finished eating. I ask another member of staff for wifi to be told it was broken which he then continued to clear my barely finished plate and my friends. One friend was still picking on fries and he physically went to take her plate while she was eating. I have never seen the likes . I understand people work for tips but in my opinion you only deserve one for quality service. Dean then continued to send other colleagues down passed our table to see had we placed our cards down for payment when we still have food and alcohol to consume. He sent three other staff members in total and checked himself three times at a minimum. It was like having a shadow follow you around. We paid by card and we had two almost full alcoholic beverages to consume . Dean continued to stalk us for a tip and send colleagues down to the table looking for his tip which he did not deserve. He then strutted down to our table and snatched the payment clip board from under my friend are and nastily said " appreciate it" when we handed him a cash tip he didn't see as we hadn't placed it on the board. The staff are outrageously rude will not be recommending to family and friends to go here . The only person who deserves a tip was the chef who did make delicious food. Would absolutely avoid at all costs! Management need to send staff on training

Worst cheese burger ever, the wifi is so bad you can't place your order qr code, seems they want tips without supplying a service. Only good thing was the cider was cold. Our whole order never got delivered, they asked for payment before you receive anything,

As you might have guessed, the meal I ordered from this restaurant was the Huevos Rancheros without carnitas (pork). My friend got the same thing but with the pork. I have no words to describe but just know it was intensely satisfying! I have ate huevos rancheros in many other places but never like at Pier 23! The crunchiness of the toast, texture of the fried egg, the moistness of the refried beans, the kick of the spicy sauce and the saltiness of the queso fresco all come together in perfect harmony, making this one of the best dishes I’ve ever had! As far as service, our hostess was extremely pleasant and friendly. She made us feel welcomed and her energy level was contagious. As far as our server, he was ok. Nothing too memorable. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the Bay Area. The location of the restaurant is perfect, right on Pier 23, overlooking the San Francisco Bay.

It was a nice place on a sunny Sunday in San Francisco just once I got out of the plane! I enjoyed the view from the garden and the cheese quesadilla.

We had a 3pm lunch of Quesadilla and chicken sandwiches at the water's edge. The raspberry iced tea was very much appreciated. The service was prompt and we stayed out of the sun, enjoying the nice temperatures outside.

Decent greasy fish and chips Fries were the best part Staff was extremely friendly We sat on the patio in the back and looked out at a massive cruise ship Little bit pricier for what we are also paying the same for 5 star restaurants in the mission

Firstly I’ll say that the food we had was good: clam chowder and fish tacos, with two good draft beers. But...what we went in for were oysters, as mentioned prominently on the sidewalk sign. We were seated promptly (we were there at 1.45pm) and the server came over, and my husband asked what the oysters were, and the waitress said “They’re Western and small.” So we said, “uh there are a lot of Western oysters, do you know where they’re from?” and she repeats, slowly as if we’re idiots, “They’re Western.” And then obviously reluctantly she says she’ll find out for us - but at that point we were in no mood to pay $3/oyster so we had our chowder and tacos. So - we won’t go back, and really just because of poorly-trained staff.

I was referred to this place by a local and the double burger and garlic fries he recommended WERE OUT OF THIS WORLD but I was a bit surprised with the $16 price tag!!! Food in CA is so expensive! But I just chalked it up to paying for the beautiful view of the harbor and the entertaining sea lion in the harbor watching us eat. Though pricey, I highly recommend it!

We enjoyed this place as it was between the ferry building and Pier 39 yet it does have the tourist feel most of the others have on this stretch. They have an outside beer garden and deck to enjoy an ice cold beer.

We had lunch here and tried the fish and chips. Portion sizes were good, the kids meal selection was good and they enjoyed their fish and chips also. The views were nice, service was fine, nice atmosphere. A great place to stop. The beer garden for a drink looked great too.

From the outside, it looks like a bar and it is. If you just peak your head inside the door you'd be missing out. Come here on a hot day and sit outside in the back over the water. What a great little spot. Breakfast is the best for me. They do open a little late so I don't come often. This is a great value with the freshest seafood!

I stopped here to watch a game on a Sunday afternoon and get a cold one, to my surprise the food was no bar food. Great menu options, fresh ingredients and really awesome vibe. The staff were super friendly and attentive and the live music was the icing on the cake. Will definitely come back when visiting San Francisco.

The location is simply perfect: ocean facing, with a great terrace. It's not overcrowded even in a weekend, service is nice and welcoming. Food is... ok.... I got a chowder which was good, and an octopus ceviche that was not so great. But overall, recommended for a stop in the area

My husband and I dropped in for lunch before our scheduled time to leave for Alcatraz. The atmosphere was wonderful, being right on the water, and it was a beautiful day to sit outside and eat. We would highly recommend the chowder, for sure. Great flavor! Our shrimp ceviche was tasty as well. I also loved the fact that they offered straw hats to their customers.

I stopped for a quick bite and the bowl of clam and fish chowder was a good option. I had that and some bread with sangria to drink. The service was wonderful and I had a relaxing lunch. The view was nice as well.

Oysters spectacular taste. Shrimp ceviche with chips so much flavor and fresh. We just stop for a drink but stay for lunch and loved everything we tried

The views are amazing from this place. Overlooking the water and the bay. The food was just ok, the garlic fries were amazing but the fish with he fish and chips wasn’t great. Also, you pay a price for the location. Lunch for 4 was $150.

Friendly wait staff and live music. Food lacking flavor. Fish dishes do not taste fresh yet they are located right on the water. Avoid the fish tacos at all costs. Two Gortons fish sticks, very lemony guacamole, pile of frisée lettuce, served with cucumbers and jalapeños on the side. So strange! Chowder was a joke! Not at all creamy! Oysters Rockefeller also a joke. 3 of the tinest oysters you have ever seen with plenty of cheese on top 12$! Mussels in an odd type of broth. Don’t fool yourself this is not an authentic seafood restaurant.

Saw video on diners drive-in and dives, good food, service, and view. Had the seafood chowder it was great.

The crab/shrimp sandwich was excellent here. Perfect. This was a great place to spend the afternoon with friends dining and drinking and looking over the bay. No stuffiness, just a nice place to chill and eat and menu prices won't break the bank.

We found this little gem in the first few days of being in San Francisco and it very quickly became our go to place for an afternoon drink or 3 on the way back from Fishermans Warf. The team are brilliant from the hostess with the mostess, to the best bar tenders we found, they made our trip a little extra special. We fell in love with the cheese bread as well as the cocktails.

Dropped into Pier 23 late afternoon after my visit to Alcatraz. Found the service to be prompted and professional with a smile. Had a Salad, Bacon Cheeseburger with French Fries which was lovely, washed down with a pint of lager. Cost around $28 which was pretty reasonable. What’s not to like....!

This used to be one of our “go-to” spots for years. Great views, fun atmosphere, good service and delicious food. When they got rid of traditional servers and decided to go the self-serve QR code route, we gave it a couple tries, but it’s just not the same. So sad!

Stumbled across this place and glad I did. Perfect setting with perfect view of the bay on a sunny day. What could be better? The food! I ordered San Francisco eggs Benedict and they were delicious. The service is prompt and friendly. Great find and certainly I’ll return.

Wife and I stopped here mid-Sunday afternoon on Easter. Got seated quickly but took 15 minutes to get a server. The servers were not over busy at the time and were more interested in dancing and singing. We got the Fish and Chips. It was GREAT. 2 big pieces of fried cod. The cole slaw was good. First time I ever had it with pineapple in it. The beers were good and cold. Well worth the wait.

Although the dishes have changed from the day it was on Diners Drive Ins and Dives, the food was still very good. The fish and chips were probably the highlight. The fish tacos were fresh and light. The sourdough that accompanied San Francisco Benedict and clam with fish chowder was great! Sitting over the water accompanied with an ideal location. Right on the Embarcadero. Adjacent to parking. On the trolley line. About a half mile from Pier 39. Under the Coit Tower. It was a very nice experience.

Following a wander around Fisherman’s Wharf Pier 23 was perfect to relax and have drinks and snacks. Sat outside on the deck - weather was perfect - great service. Staff very attentive. Cocktails were delicious and food hit the mark. Will definitely return when we visit again.

Lunch time for us and we gave it a try. Short wait for our table which we managed with a beer in hand, good selection of craft draft beers. Swift service for a busy place. Nice view of the bay and excellent food. We had oysters and some more beers. Worth going.

Four of us stopped by for lunch - it was a little walk from Pier 39 but well worth it! I had the mussels and clams in a white wine sauce - so good. Others had the Longshoreman Chowder and loved it - especially with the sourdough (of course!) bread dipped in it. Another had the Crab and Shrimp Salad Sandwich on toasted bread - they loved it and it looked wonderful! Stiff gin and tonics put a finishing touch on it, along with super nice service. We will be back!

We had walked our feet off and need a place to each and use the restrooms. This place was small, but had indoor and outdoor seating. We chose indoor, but had a great view of the water. I ordered salad and husband had grilled asparagus. We shared and both enjoyed both. The asparagus was much larger than any I have ever had, yet tender and nicely seasoned. We watched as others were served. It looks like the burger and fries are a big seller. There is a full bar also.

Sat outside. Fish tacos we're not great value., Fish and chips were ok.. didn't love it here. Much better places to eat for sure. I would skip this place and look around

I heard this was my brother's favorite place to eat Fish and Chips in the Embarcadero and Fisherman's Wharf area. So, my nephew and his wife took me to Pier 23 for breakfast. I was torn as to what to order as everything on the menu looked soooo good. Since I came for the Fish and Chips, I ordered that. OMG! Delicious!! The fish was a nice sized piece of fresh Cod lighted breaded. The chips were to die for.. I will come back here next time I come to San Francisco. The service was excellent and the location is right on the Embarcadero overlooking the pier and the Bay.

Great place that’s always buzzy. We had a booking outdoors given how great the weather was. Shared a couple of oysters and had tuna as a main. Service was very slow but food was tasty. #Sahtein

I had a good time at their silent disco event but the bartender wouldn’t let me use the men’s bathrooms because I “looked like a girl”. Made me wait in the atrociously long women’s bathroom line. Not cool.

The food came out so quickly and the staff were so friendly. I wish the lunch menu had more options but I still really enjoyed their fish n chips (it doesn't look like it'd be that special but it was delicious). A nice little place right on the water, truly a hidden gem!

We dropped into this bar after returning from a wet cold and windy trip to Alcatraz, when what we wanted was something hot to eat, but not too heavy, and a warm welcoming establishment. Pier 23 certainly fulfilled these requirements, with hot and tasty crab cakes and buffalo wings on a bed of salad. The beer was good, the service friendly and prompt, although we had to fight our way through the regulars propping up the bar. All in all a good experience.

We are here after seeing it was on the website for diners, Drive-Ins and dives. The only plus, was the deck overlooking the bay. The menu was very limited and overpriced. I got the hamburger and it was way undercooked and had a funky taste. We went to Alcatraz immediately after, and I ended up getting sick on the island.

Hard to beat the food and the view. Pier 23 is a bustling spot. Large menu. Modest prices. Large portions. Fresh seafood. Try the fish and chips with jalapeño tarter sauce. Good service. Great spot for lunch in Coit Tower area.

Stopped here for late night dinner. Very popular pub-style restaurant right on the pier beside where our cruise ship docked. There is a live band up front but we sat in a separate section in the rear near the outdoor dining area. Our server Lala recommended the fish and chips so we had that along with the crab cakes, fish tacos and quesadilla. All were excellent; but the fish and chips were exceptionally good. Highly recommended.

We were waiting like 1:30 hours for our food... it never happened. Awful service. We had to been looking for service all time and finally we had to leave the place without food, hungry and angry as well. Never recommend it.

We had lunch with friends. It seemed to be a popular spot. Close to the cruise ship terminal. Excellent food and service. Interesting history. Live bands sometimes.

We went to Pier 23 Cafe based on Diner's, Drive-ins, and Dives. Our server informed us that the episode was several years old and they no longer had the same chef. She did say that the crab legs were still made similar and that is what we wanted. The food was good. But if you are going based on DDD just know that the episode is outdated.

I was expecting great food, great service, and a really good dining experience. It was our first time in San Francisco. Honestly, the fish and chips was mediocre. The garlic fries were really really great. My son ordered the butter noodles and I don’t even think there was butter. I was expecting like a sauce or something and we just got a bowl of luke warm, sticky, pasta noodles. The service was worse. We saw our waitress one time the whole time we were there. No refills, I had to flag her down to get some ketchup for the bland fish I had. A $170 bill and I feel like we got jipped. Finally I had to take the check up to the host stand myself because we had waited long enough and didn’t want to wait another 45 minutes for the waitress to come by and grab it. She walked by our table at least 3 times, never stopped, never asked how we were doing or needed anything. Definitely won’t recommend and definitely won’t be heading back.

This place is right next to the Princess terminal. Best fish and Chips I have ever had. Good wings and the chowder was good as well. On the water. Not fancy. Also has a casual bar.

If you’re lucky, you will see a huge cruiser leave to continue its voyage. Our table for the five of us, was situated overlooking the mooring of a huge boat. Yes, we did have to wait a few minutes before the table came free, but this time was spent enjoyably enough supping wonderfully tangy IPAs of which my son and I we’re given samples before purchasing. The two grandchildren enjoyed their ice-filled glasses of grenadine each topped with cherries. The serving staff were delightfully polite and helpful; menus comprised the simple to the more sophisticated. I’d been yearning for a restaurant which served octopus - here I found it, served with lashings of garlic (see photo). Both granddaughters enjoyed their cheese-filled pancakes. The whole experience left us feeling totally relaxed (perhaps even one beer at lunchtime isn’t a good idea).

Popped in here for lunch while out for a walk along the pier. Crab cakes were fabulous, as were the fresh oysters. Clam and fish chowder was average. I’ve read a lot of bad reviews on Tripadvisor about this place but clearly it isn’t affecting their business, the place was packed mid-afternoon. The joys of being in a high-traffic tourist area no doubt. Still a really cute little patio and our service was lovely. Give it a try.

Been here a few times: 1st With my large family for dinner service was great food was delicious, Good calamari, great crab if it's available, nice relaxing diiner witht he family. 2nd with my son while exploring the city, Bloody Mary was really good. Fish tacos were ok a bit to much seaweed for my taste. Hostess was very rude when at first we said we just wanted a appetizer so we decided to share a entree so we could sit outside and enjoy the view.

We stumbled into this place for lunch - we were tired and hungry. What a treat. We wanted to sit at the first empty table we saw. The gracious hostess suggested we go to the terrace in the back and enjoy the view of the water. So glad we did. The food was absolutely great! Excellent clam chowder, out of this world crab cakes (thick and tasty); the side salad alone is a reason I will return to this place. The dressing was awesome. Friendly, efficient service. We could not ask for more. This will definitely be a place we will return to.

Our hotel staff recommended this restaurant because we were looking for a restaurant that served good seafood. We were somewhat disappointed in the variety of seafood offered, but we were all pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. There is not a large amount of seating, so I recommend calling ahead for reservations.

My friend started with the fish and clam chowder soup which was so bland that she had to add tapatio to it. She asked if I wanted to try it, but it didnt have the creamy consistency my palate appreciates (plus the look on her face said "I'm only eating this because I'm cheap and dont like to waste money), so I let her indulge on her own. For her meal she ordered the grits with shrimp and chorizo. Let me start by saying I am a huge fan of grits, but these grits were drowning in a chorizo saucy soup texture that would have sent me running to the bathroom. You should pass in half too if you ever come here. I was smart and asked the server what she would recommend. Apparently their fish and chips were featured on an episode of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, so I went with that. The fries are garlic fries that could have used a lot more garlic and seasoning, but the fish was excellent! Tender, flaky, and the batter was great. My friend paid $16 bucks for a long island ice tea, then made me take her to taco bell to get some real food.

The waiter was very nice and the service was fast. However, the food and alcoholic drinks were more expensive than other places in the area that we had dined at, and neither the food nor our mixed drink were very tasty. Also, the waiter said that none of the fish was fresh! It seemed strange that even the catch of the day was not fresh, but he said, "No". I had the $25 scallop special, and there were only 3 large scallops, a tiny bit of fennel mashed potato which were the best thing, and a pile of greasy bacon compote. The old fashioned drink was harsh. Both my son and I didn't feel well the next day probably due to the grease. The seafood salad and mac and cheese were ok, but not worth the cost.

Not Impressed. Went there with my wife and another couple for dinner. Our friends' brother had suggested it. My wife and I each ordered the shrimp and crab salad sandwich on sourdough bread. The crab was nowhere to be found in our sandwich and the shrimps were tasteless. The bread was even mediocre which amazes me in San Francisco where you can get excellent fresh sourdough bread on just about any street. I was tempted to send it back but it was late and we were starving. Even with that level of hunger it still was mediocre. I had a local draft beer with it which was fine but didn't save my dinner.

Being local, I wanted to love this place. Our visit was not what we expected. The place itself is very cool, however, the bar was horrible! 2 of us ordered the orange crush bucket...at $18 each! Worst crush ever! It literally tasted like water. Not only did it not have much alcohol, you couldn't even taste the oranges. They need to keep in mind that Harborside is next door. Our second drink order was 4 beers....15 minutes later we got them! This was 530 on a Thursday, not crowded at all. The food and atmosphere is very enjoyable. Just don't waste your $$ on drinks at the bar.

Enjoyed the lunch overlooking the bay. Stumbled upon this and glad we did. Hushpuppies appetizer was delicious. Also, we had the clam chowder and loved it. Members of our group ordered fish and chips, spicy chicken, and cheeseburger. All came with garlic fries. No one was disappointed and no one left hungry. Well worth the stop.

Stopped to have dinner on our way back to our hotel and we were a large group of 8. They seated us fairly quick (15 minutes) which was good but our service was not very impressive. The waitress forgot to bring my cup of clam chowder, never came back to check if we were ok or needed anything, and we never got any refills on our water, tea, and lemonade. While I understand we were a large group the place was not overly busy or crowded. In fact we could see our waitress at the cashier register laughing, eating some fries, and it appeared she was ignoring her tables. I had to stop another waiter to tell her to cancel my chowder and ask them for our check. When she did finally come it was with to bring us the check and we noticed that an automatic 20% gratuity was added , we asked her about it and she said that it was automatically add for parties of 6 or more. Wow, I understand that gratuity should be given but she really wasn’t giving service at the cost of paying her $44 dollars tip!

Chowder was very good. Crab cakes were average; paired with a nice spring mix and avacado. Mussels and clams with pasta were a hit. Service was efficient and not overbearing. Best sangria ever. Small plate entrees start at $14 and up.
Great place to eat after the Alcatraz Tour
indoor and bayfront tables. Salads and bloody mary's were very good. Casual atmosphere and reasonably priced.
