Delicious Breakfast

By Mamatenz |

The food at this casual little French Bistro was simple but so delicious! I had frittata. The portion size was generous and the service was excellent. The pastry case was very tempting. My husband had eggs, potatoes and toast, Nothing fancy but perfectly cooked. The quiche and several other dishes looked amazing. Something to try on another visit. Such a gem. The prices were quite reasonable. I would love to go again.

Would be back for the deserts

By Michal F |

If I hadn't just walked off the street in Chicago i would have said i was in a charming french cafe in Marseille. Stepping in, there is a bright atmosphere with people eating together on pinewood tables. The food is complex and uses uncommon ingredients/ recipes. The deserts were second to none. Two downsides: It's very busy it took us 40 minutes to get seated for a group of 4 at 11am. It's expensive relative to other cafes. Complimentary Bread - 4/5 Great bread. Strong crust whith a heary whole wheat inside. If it was warm would have been 5/5 but still exceptional. Cheese Fondue - 5/5 Using emmentaler brings more flavor than usual fondue cheeses. The dipping bread is made in house and had a hearty whole grain quality. Crab Cake - 4/5 Not fried but baked with low amount of battering, really letting the crab meat stand alone. The meat was moist and tender. For $13 though i would have thought it would be much bigger. Although delicious your really not getting good value. Whole Wheat Crepe 3/5 In concept it sounded amazing. Whole wheat crape with seasonal vegetables and goat cheese. Unfortunately i thought the kale was bitter and detracted from the overall flavor and there was a ton of kale. If they'd ditch the kale and added some honey this would be a 4/5. It's not that i don't like Kale either, i eat it but it just didint work in this crepe. Raspberry Chocolate Tart - Unratably good From the look of things you can't go wrong with any desert here although this one is especially good. Taking a bite sends me to chocolaty heaven. The bottom is a sort of dark chocolate graham cracker, inside a dense mouse, outside is a thickened shell of raspberry sauce. It's big enough for two although due to my wifes kindness i ate about 3/4's. I'll have to come back for the deserts.

Great place for a brunch

By Andres A |

Delightful

Our family really enjoyed the breakfast we had the other day, my daughter and I had the breakfast croissant and my husband had biscuits and gravy with eggs. Everything looked and tasted great. We sat outside and enjoyed people watching while waiting for breakfast. Highly recommend

Lunch outside

By Nuha K 56 |

It was a bit cool but the heater above made it plrasunt seating outside. Lunch was delicious and made to personal liking. My friend doesn't eat shrimp in her salad so they brought it on the side. I ordered the chicken salad. It has very delicious things in it. Like hazelnut, pistachio, and walnuts. We enjoyed our time!

This place is perfect!

By Sunny58900 |

We came in late afternoon. Found flatbreads, french onion soup and a fantastic salad, all to share. I had the hot chocolate and daughters ordered wine. The server was fantastic. Atmosphere was friendly and comfortable. Did not want to leave! The bakery looked great but we were too full from the meal. Will definitely make plans to return!

For breakfast.... it’s a “must”

Perfect

By Blue_Paradise_83 |

This place is pretty amazing. Whatever the type of food, from the apetizer to the dessert, the taste is fabulous. I recommend the tarte flambee or the lemon tarte. Difficult to find a weakness in this restaurant. Outdoor seating is a must.

GREAT FIND

By JP2431 |

It definitely is pricey, but it's the Peninsula of course. They have great seats outside so we were able to view the city while enjoying breakfast. My wife is gluten free and they do offer gluten free toast and other options so that was awesome. I had the Peninsula breakfast. It was scrambled eggs, bacon, chicken sausage, toast, little salad and coffee for $20. They were the best scrambled eggs I've ever had, no joke. My wife had the bacon frittata which was good too. They also make a homemade GF bloody mary mix so my wife could have one and it was delicious. All in all a very nice place. You definitely pay for it though.

Very good food and service

By Steigenberger592 |

We tried Pierrot Gourmet for lunch during Restaurant Week and enjoyed it a lot. We started with the French Onion soup, which was hot and tasty. The Croque Monsieur was also quite good. The duck cassoulet was great, with a nice blend of beans, duck confit and bacon, topped with pickled shallots and Parmesan breadcrumbs. Dessert was included in the Restaurant Week special and we had our choice of dessert from their pastry display. The Chocolate Obsession was good, and the Vanilla Mille Feuille was even better. Our server was very attentive and our food was served quickly and hot. One disappointment was the price of the soft drinks. $4.25 for an 8.5 ounce bottle of Coke is ridiculous, even for a restaurant in the Peninsula Hotel. I understand the need to make a profit, but gouging customers on soft drinks is no way to get repeat customers.

Great breakfast adjoining the Peninsula

By MINDLE22 |

We ate breakfast here every morning during our 6 night stay at the adjoining Peninsula hotel. Great food and professional staff. Highly recommended

A taste of Europe in Chicago

By Taylor B |

Pierrot Gourmet could be the best restaurant you haven't heard about. Located at street level at 108 East Superior Street, in the luxurious Peninsula Hotel, it is a European-style cafe and bistro that is all about people watching and basking in the sun where tables are surrounded by colorful flowers on a bustling Rush Street. Patrons are transported to the streets of Paris with an array of French-style flatbreads and hearty home-made soups and a French bistro cuisine paired with a crisp glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Pierrot Gourmet offers breakfast and an all-day dining menu that is second to none. My wife and I love to stop by to take a lunch break while shopping or browsing or just strolling along the Magnificent Mile. How about a bowl of French onion soup and a shrimp salad, a plate of Quiche or Maine lobster roll or tuna melt or French ham with melted Gruyere and toasted baguette or Rotissiere chicken, Pasta Primavera, Basque BBQ salmon, Boeuf Bourguignon or my favorite, truffled chicken pot pie with chunks of chicken, peas, carrots and mushrooms? Or you might just drop by for dessert. The dessert menu is long and distinguished, including tart chocolate caramel, coconut sorbet, cheesecake, eclairs, raspberry tart, creme brulee, fresh fruit tart and Chocolate Obsession, which features Devil's Food cake, chocolate mousse and chocolate ruffles. Paris, anyone?

Delicious

By Akop2 |

This place rocks. I’d go here every weekend for brunch if I lived in Chicago. There’s a great selection to choose from with scenic outdoors seating complete with overhead heaters for when the lake breeze sets in. Great for a couples date, friends, a solo dining experience or really anything if you like good food. Only downfall is there isn’t much seating inside.

Love to start the day with breakfast at Pierrot Gourmet

By travchef |

First, the Christmas decorations are gorgeous, second the servers are welcoming and efficient. The oatmeal is really good - stick-to-your-ribs kind of oatmeal. It is served with brown sugar and fresh berries. The espresso is thick and dark. We always visit when we're in the area.

Best breakfast north end of Michigan Ave

By Wrx8 |

Premises are small so it gets busy fast if you're not early and if you have a big party . The croissants are about the best in Chicago. Airy light and huge. The vegan hash is very good and the chicken popover is a huge serving of poached eggs and chicken and vegetables in an incredibly light brioche bun. Coffee is excellent. Service is great as it is the Peninsula. Not cheap but not overpriced for what you get either. Definitely better value than Beatrix or some chain breakfast places. This will be our go too on the north side of Michigan Ave for breakfast.

Excellent experience !

By Allie |

Excellent service, shrimp salad and tuna melt were both to notch. We didn’t have a dessert, but they looked amazing!

A gem!

By Alyssa B |

One of my favorite places! Breakfast, lunch, a cozy quaint dinner. The ginger peach iced tea is so addicting. Too many favorites to list. If dining for lunch the Pen Chicken salad made with spinach is incredibly balanced to the last bite. The patisserie is 5 star.

Coming back soon

By Kristan M |

What a lovely place, wish I'd found it sooner. Bonus, they were celebrating Oktoberfest. Description as European country notary bistro is accurate. Sat outside, which was a bit noisy but still fun. I loved the chopped shrimp salad, another guest whose mother was a great French cook said the chicken pot pie was the best ever. Beers are a good deal.

Favorite Laid Back Restaurant in Chicago.

By Audra S |

This is a wonderful french farmhouse style cafe. I love it for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert! Open kitchen area, some large tables for communal eating as well as some outdoor dining. The popover is magnificent, my kids go crazy for the macarons and my husband loves the flatbreads!

An example of as good as the last meal

By Joseph A |

Always loved to stop here each time we came to Chicago, and I gave it great reviews in the past. SO, what happened? Firstly, the menu changed completely. Should have seen the clue when we arrived on a Friday evening to find it virtually empty. The onion soup, which I previously loved, was good, but this time way too salty. The accompanying bread was not quite fresh, too.The flat bread choices were very limited, and I chose the chase and bacon; mistake! the flat bread seemed flat in taste, the bacon was far too fatty, and it chased me with repeats for several hours. overnight The wine list was OK, but not stunning, and the Malbec was just OK. The good: the waiter was very nice, and as helpful as he could be in the circumstances. Well, so this bistro now dropped off my visit list for each time I come to Chicago; too bad. Can't quite understand why the change: New chef? Whatever, it underlines the old saying about eateries: You're only as good as your last meal.

Terrific lunch and pastries

By schaefer51 |

My wife and I stopped here for a lunch date with an old friend--lobster rolls, various salads, desserts, all of which were wonderful. Because we had a lot to catching up to do with our friend, we lingered for three hours and never felt the least pressure to move along--our server was gracious and most helpful. We will definitely return!

Wonderful Breakfast

By kasukusays |

The food is amazing , I kept ordering more and more and they kept asking me ‘you still hungry ?’ . I really enjoyed the sweet potato pull overs , berry parfait with granola and a macaroon . Coffee was delicious and the service is really good ! Will visit again for sure !

Lunch with sistera

By Nuha K 56 |

Very nice cafe. Very elegant and food is good but very expensive. We ordered the shrimp salad and the chicken pot pie, very yummy. We had a seating outside which ads up to a European style cafe. Must go to when visiting Chicago

Adorable street level cafe - Peninsula Chicago

By Mia Voss |

What a fun afternoon at the bustling & upbeat Pierrot Gourmet. Located on the busy corner of Superior & Rush, this charming little restaurant has the feel of a bistro with cozy interior seating as well as a nice sidewalk-side patio. The restaurant celebrates international holidays. I happened to visit on the first day of autumn and the place was sprinkled with lovely fall decorations and was set up for the start of Oktoberfest (which runs until Oct. 9) The menu was also based around Oktoberfest which was delightful! I'm more of a wine girl (ok, I'm TOTALLY a wine girl and rarely drink beer) But, when in Germany (rather, when at a restaurant with a temporary German theme)..you drink German beer! I had the Radler bier with grapefruit juice (suggested by our lovely server) and it was fantastic - refreshing and I drank the whole beer. If you know me, you'll know that is unusual so that means it was good!) Next time I'll try the Edel Kirsch which is a cherry liqueur that's 28% proof (yes please) SO many great items but here's what we decided on: Obatzda & Brezel (aka: Huge Pretzel and cheese dip!) brie cheese and beer dip, warm pretzel- the pretzel was tasty, soft & warm and the cheese dip was fantastic - nice smoky flavor Leberkäs Wecke german meatloaf sandwich, pretzel bread, mustard, house pickles, small salad - OMG! The pretzel bread was divine- super soft, not at all chewy and super fluffy. The meatloaf was super tasty - an interesting texture - more like a hot dog so it wasn't crumbly like some meatloaf can be. The taste was out of this world! Wiesnhendl half rotisserie chicken, potato salad The chicken was incredibly tender! Loved the flavor and the crispy chicken skin. I'm a midwestern girl so the potatoes made me very happy - nicely cooked with a light salty flavor Wiener Schnitzel veal schnitzel, potato salad, lingonberries, mustard with mushroom sauce The schnitzel was nice & crispy but the meat was not dry - a great balance. The lingonberry sauce was SO good and the mustard was a great contrast as well. Executive Chef Jose Fernandez and F&B Director Christopher and their staff are amazing! Make sure to check them out at other times too - the menu various of course and if the other menu items are as good as the Oktoberfest specialty menu, you are in for a treat!

Great food & Great service

By ZYT |

This is the kind of place where you can really enjoy the meal. Not only is the food delicious but the service is absolutely superb. We will definitely come back next time we are in the neighborhood.

Excellent dinner at bistro close to Magnificent Mile

By EpeeDogu |

We took a Saturday afternoon visit to the Magnificent Mile and stopped for an early dinner at Pierrot Gourmet next to the Peninsula Hotel. Probably since it was early, there wasn't a problem being seated (also we requested inside - outside on the street looked more full). Service was prompt and friendly. Everything was delicious - in particular, we really liked the House-made Ricotta (with honeycomb) to start. We highly recommend this bistro.

Romantic and friendly

By Michael C |

Great place for a traditional french cafe soujourne. Cafe au lait, brioche and croissants are a perfect match to the street side seating.

Great salads!

By Niamb |

This is one of the restaurants that are part of the Peninsula Hotel in Chicago. We both had awesome salads. There are a lot of tables squeezed in there so it was a bit tight, but the service was excellent. There is al fresco dining, but it was too hot and humid for us so we chose to eat our lunch in air conditioned comfort.

Excellent food, best place for people watching.

By jdfloresjr.com |

This is my favorite hangout in the Magnificent Mile. The menu is well rounded, wine choices adequate, awesome servers and fantastic pastries!

Great Food, wonderful service. Small bistro restaurant.

By TwoTravelersOklahoma |

We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner in this small restaurant attached to THE PENINSULA HOTEL. All the food is fresh and imaginatively prepared. The pastries and desserts are wonderful. Try this restaurant!!!

Amazing service and excellent Food!

By AROUNDTHEWORLD! |

We absolutely love this place for the service and the delicious Food. The service by Ronaldo was professional and so friendly The breakfast was perfect We love the fresh and tasty salmon with everything bagel and the delicious pastries. The coffee is always so good here But they changed the decor now it’s white and green and very modern! We missed the classic decor who was more warm and cozy! But we will definitely come back for the pastries .. a must!

Great place for people watching--breakfast or all-day

By Taylor B |

You can't ask for a better location to enjoy the friendly art of people watching or basking in the sun than by having breakfast or sampling the all-day menu at the Pierre Gourmet Cafe at 108 East Superior, at the corner of Superior and Rush, only a block west of the Magnificent Mile, on the first floor of the posh Peninsula Hotel. It is a European-style cafe and bistro that serves delicious breakfasts from 7 to 11 and then offers a tasty all-day menu designed to refuel shoppers and tourist and businessmen and women. If you're in a hurry, the Peninsula breakfast is sure to please--scrambled eggs, bacon, chicken sausage, toast, salad, fresh juice and premium blend coffee or tea. Take a sack of fresh goodies from the bakery--croissants, chocolate croissants, almond croissants, cinnamon rolls, pecan rolls, muffins. If you have more time, order a variety of eggs, quiche, Banana Foster waffle, Brioche French Toast, shrimp and grits, Scottish smoked salmon, breakfast croissant sandwich or buttermilk biscuits and gravy. The all-day menu features rotisserie chicken, pan seared halibut, crab pasta, truffled chicken pot pie (my personal favorite) and roasted bone-in center-cut pork chop. You may just show up for dessert only. Why not? Choose from a host of macarons, eclairs, cobbler, creme brulee, raspberry rose macaron, tart chocolate caramel or banana brownie. All the time, you have a front row view of the hustle and bustle at the intersection of Rush and Superior.

Again a great breakfast

By NYC_wanderer |

I've been here before. Among other things, the outdoor seating is a delight. The food...for me perfectly prepared eggs. Today the leek and mushroom frittata. Side of sweet potato hash. Both wonderful, tasty and perfectly prepared. The the coffee. Rich, flavorful and not bitter. What more could one want. In previous visits I've had a lunch salad and different eggs for breakfast. Always good and enjoyable time. Whether alone or with friends.

C'est Bon

By Jimgo |

Open air sidewalk small hideaway. And chi's one blemish. Sirens a great deal on wine flights with small snacks ( rare cheese bits). All went for lobster rolls which get just a three small cheery lobster bits in big bun just ok with mixed greens. And then desert picks with lots of cocoa, coffee & tea picks. We took a raspberry tart (4.5) and Carmel tart (better than Simone Biles quadruple back flip with a triple twist!)

Pleasant breakfast

By daniele c |

Very cozy and nice place to have breakfast or stop for a tasty break. The breakfast we had was pleasant. We took a savory dish each with ingredients such as potatoes, eggs and vegetables, a green tea each and a pastry for 2. Cost including tip: 80 dollars, which for Italian standards is crazy, for medium-high Chicago ones. Very precise and extremely courteous service.

Simply delicious!

By kozyzoo |

My adult daughter and I noticed this adorable French Bistro on our way to and from Michigan Ave shopping. Tucked on the corner of the Peninsula Hotel, the restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating. They offer salads, flat bread pizza and several entrees. We enjoyed a bistro pretzel to start and followed our appetizer with lovely salads. The meal would not have been complete without sampling the desserts. We opted for the fruit tart and creme brûlée both of which tasted as delicious as they looked. Don’t miss this hidden gem!

Really good food!

By purselady1 |

We are never disappointed at Pierro Gourmet. Their food is interesting, fresh and delicious. Had an egg, bacon plate and a scrumptious blueberry muffin. This place is very popular.

Coffee Break Worth It, Prices a Bit High

By F4Q |

We visited this place around lunchtime. Most people seemed to be ordering from the sandwiches and salad menu, but our visit was for coffee. We tried the baked salad, which was delicious. The service was good, and the location is great. Prices are a bit above average, but overall it’s a nice spot for a coffee break.

Great Meal as Always

By nlman1985 |

We walked in Pierrot Gourmet at the Peninsula on a Saturday early evening for dinner. There were plenty of seats available inside (some small tables, other cafeteria or European large table size), but it was so beautiful outside that we wait 20 minutes for a sidewalk table; it was worth it. The other guests started with a Strawberry Bellini, a glass of CBL Protea, and a glass of Bill-Haut (both rose' whites); I had coffee. The drinks were served promptly and were as expected ($13-14 per wn glass). Two guests shared a Nicoise Salad ($19) and a Seared Halibut ($23), which they both said were excellent. A third guest had the pork chop ($21), which he said was very good. I had the rotisserie chicken ($19); it was an ample portion. We passed on desserts. Service was excellent. The server made a point to clarify with one guest whether they wanted one entree served with or without a particular reduction (instead of surprising her). Overall, a very good meal - we've been there before and will go back. The people watching from the outdoor tables is also fun.

Do yourself a favor

Eat here! I had a chicken pot pir that was to die for (black truffles in the voulet). Really great food/service at a reasonable price. No complaints!

A Charming European Restarant with Excellent Food and Service

By A T |

While walking in Chicago, we happened to find this charming little restaurant. Once I stepped inside, I felt that I was in a European cafe. The case filled with fabulous French pastries was located to the right as we walked inside and tempted us. Our waitress was lovely, very personable, and efficient. I noticed others working there were also equally engaging. We had a flatbread and the pea, radish, and risotto for lunch. They were beautifully plated and excellent. I would highly recommend this cafe. I understand that is also open for breakfast.

Good food at reasonable prices - handy for Peninsula guests.

By Peg G |

We ate here twice, the first time because the Peninsula's lobby restaurant would not seat us without reservations, although we were hotel guests who had just arrived to stay for 4 days. I can't recall exactly what we ate - I just remember the friendly server, the cozy ambiance and the pleasure of being able to relax and eat a decent meal with my 17 year old daughter after traveling for hours.

Excellent Brunch Option

By P A |

We were visiting Chicago for a family get away and our hotel concierge recommended this restaurant for Saturday brunch. It is a small casual bistro style French cafe where you can sit at separate or community tables. The breakfast choices were numerous and included fresh wholesome options. The coffee was rich and creamy. We ordered omelets, fresh fruit and assorted home made muffins. Everything was delicious! Not cheap but worth every penny!

Great little Bistro

By TravelinJabbo |

We had breakfast here while staying at the Peninsula. Great food and service. I'd definitely come back!

Good food, Great pastry

By Amy R |

This mid day lunch and wine and pastry break was so good. Ill be honest the service was a little slow .. especially for a meal that was already made waiting in the cooler but The food was so good and the wine arrived on time so me and my kindle were good :) Great for a light lunch or indulgent solo afternoon break.

Casual yet special for great dining

By Haamid J |

It was our first night in Chicago and while walking Michigan Ave we came around and spotted the gem. The food was delicious - salads and good recommendations from our server. We enjoyed the evening.

Gem of a place for breakfast or whenever!

By Basia-7 |

Ordered a wine flight of Light Old World Collection and enjoyed our selection, especially the Sancerre. Quiche Lorraine was amazing and I had never had a quiche before so was somewhat apprehensive. So tasty with bits of bacon and leeks. Was concerned the cheese would be overwhelming but it wasn't at all. This meal was amazing. My boyfriend had the chicken pot pie and I don't know which dish I enjoyed more. Just superb. We will definitely be back!

With poularity comes queue

By Phayao13 |

Certainly you get a feeling of a European cafe, and that's exactly what the hotel was looking for.Overall the food was awesome and the service was on point. Regardless of the time of day, the pride of Pierrot is the pastry.

Little bit of Paris

By Lori P |

I always try to have lunch at this cafe associated with the Peninsula Hotel. It serves breakfast lunch and dinner in addition to a lovely French pastry selection. I recently had French onion soup and half a baguette with ham and gruyere, followed by a white chocolate cheesecake covered in glazed berries. I sat outside and enjoyed a nice day and felt like I was in Paris.

Nothing Fancy But Very Good.

By mookie61 |

We stopped on for lunch. Very much the type of corner bistro you would find in France ( or Quebec). Food is fresh, without pretense, and prices are fair. The space is pretty basic- so I would suggest sitting outside if weather permits. Good options include anything with the rotisserie chicken.

Yummy!

By DivineDiner77 |

We have been to Pierrot Gourmet several times now and we love it. The place is small and quaint. We usually go at off hours so we don’t have to wait. All the dishes we’ve tried are delicious and you can tell that they have a chef cooking there! My favorite dish is the be Make room for dessert!

Excellent

By Sadafkarim2013 |

Ok, so I went to Pierrot Gourmet last year when visiting Chicago. This year, I went back with my daughter. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. The food is tasty and the service is excellent. I strongly recommend that people try this restaurant if visiting Chicago. I will be back here next year.

A European style cafe

By Gabriel H |

Located at the ground level of the Peninsula hotel, this upscale cafe offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks and coffee in between. One could state that the focus is French food, but it is really Continental or International flavors that are apparent. Service is excellent, and prices, what you would expect from the Peninsula.

A French Bistro In Downtown Chicago

By Waldo Intl |

We ate breakfast every morning at Pierrot, one dinner and one afternoon coffee/dessert break. Every meal was amazing! The macarons are the best I've had outside of Paris.

Great Breakfast. Very Tasty

By LAJ7 |

Really nice warm friendly atmosphere and an outstanding French Bistro. Home made breads and overall delicious food. Really good breakfast spot. Nice patio and good wine list

Excellent relaxed place for informal dinner

By Verna Y |

We had just arrived in Chicago, staying at the Peninsula and wanted to stay close to the hotel for dinner. And we were not disappointed. My husband had the rotisserie chicken which essentially was so tasty that he is still trying to figure out how they cooked it. I had the shrimp salad which was excellent. The atmosphere was very casual. Prices were very reasonable. Overall, an excellent relaxed meal for some tired travelers. Would definitely go again.

Perfect service

By Arwa Almusaytir |

The service here is perfect and the stuff so friendly. Food was great and the beverages as well. I’ll comeback for sure!

Poor fare

By Peter T |

We waned to eat something light and this looked promising but it failed to deliver. We ordered a shrimp salad and a spinach and mushroom quiche with salad. The quiche was tasteless. The shrimp salad had some taste but was generally uninteresting. Not for us.

Decent, especially deserts

By Professor57 |

We visited this restaurant just to check it out. It is next to the Peninsula hotel. The food is well prepared, but costs about twice as much as we expected for a Chicago meal. The place is not very busy, perhaps because it costs so much. The desserts are good. The service people are very nice, but don't seem all that organized. Perhaps they need a manager.

A little bit of A French cafe in Chicago

By Diana R |

This is quite a gem! Great food and the pastry selection is awesome! Only downfall was the fogged over case due to the heat outside! Hard to see all the delicacies! Definitely need to try this one!

French cuisine

By Jacqui M |

Earlier in the day, this elegant restaurant caught our eye as we strolled past so we returned for dinner. We were met with a display of desserts and friendly staff. As we did not have a reservation, we chose to sit inside, because there was no wait. Between us, we shared the Alsatian flatbread to start with, followed by the shrimps with grits and strip steak. All were cooked to perfection and tasted good. Their dark chocolate peony tart accompanied by vanilla ice cream was a real treat. A perfect meal which was not too pricey. Would happily return when next in Chicago.

Ahhh..Pierrot Gourmet!

By Debi T |

Skip the pricey & gut busting brunch in The Lobby of the Peninsula and step inside the street level cafe! Went on a Sunday morning and the outside patio was full despite the slight chill, although outdoor heaters were on and everyone seemed comfortable. I ordered coffee (good) and oatmeal which I enjoyed. Couldn't pass up the gorgeous croissants served with small jars of jam which didn't disappoint! Our waitress was busy but took the time to keep our waters & coffee filled while replenishing our jams. (Ok, so I had 2 croissants and took another home). Great place to people watch. Quaint atmosphere and want to go back for lunch!

Nothing special

By GiaTruPyt |

Prices are steep. Coffee was bitter. Meals were ok, nothing special about breakfast meals. Service was average also. $50 for 2 breakfast meals, juice & coffee. They do have gluten free options & gluten free bread.

Great breakfast spot

By rbesho |

Located next to Peninsula hotel, had breakfast there twice. Excellent food, nice people, good service. FYI, for singles they offer seating at a small table or at communal tables of ~ 6 seats & have newspapers available, which is a nice touch. I sat at a communal table with another middle aged couple. The woman talked non stop about such inane subjects that I thought my head was going to explode. No reflection on the restaurant though. Baked goods & pastries looked delicious. Would definitely recommend.

I love this place

By jch159 |

Everytime we make it to the city we stop here the service is great and very accomodating The food is great ranging from hearty to light and the desserts,,which I never have during the week ...I make the exception while at PG

Simplement délicieux

By Jane B |

Better than Paris: Scottish salmon and a house - baked bagel for breakfast with fresh, tasty tomato, cucumber, ... sitting on the patio in the shade, enjoying the breeze and the French chansons in the background ...

Superb

By Sadafkarim2013 |

Excellent restaurant. The food and the service is really wonderful. We went there in the evening. The waiters were friendly and helpful. The chicken rotisserie and the beet salad are to die for. The chicken pot pie is divinely delicious. Their desserts...... they are so so good. This is a must try when in Chicago.

Amazing lunch!

By NCRedhead105 |

This was our first stop after checking into our hotel. We had a wonderful lunch. The nachos were the most beautiful I have ever seen. My croque madam was yummy. My only wish would be that the food was not so filling so I would have room for the beautiful pastries. I will be back the next time I’m in Chicago and I may start with dessert!

You can't go wrong

By Nasser M |

At the ground floor level of the peninsula .I sat outside, ordered a cappuccino and banana brownie and chilled.. Honestly it is a very pleasant experience and the coffee and dessert both taste great.. I really can't ask for more.. It seems like most of the desserts either look great or taste great.. I haven't had a proper meal there so I cannot rank that! Recommended

French Bistro

By Stephanie C |

Pierrot Gourmet at the Peninsula Hotel is perfect if you’re looking for a French casual fare. The decor is bistro inspired but with a vibrant green. The european type baked goods are beautifully decorated and delicious.

The Ladies Who Lunch

By shallow_shoals |

Lovely salads, delicious Lobster Roll with a light mayo, tarragon and paprika dressing; an avocado and too much chopped lettuce Pita with a minimum of tahini dressing, a lovely looking (didn't try it) thick quiche. Mediocre wine selection. Lovely bright silk flowers atmosphere and cute dolls, an enticing French dessert case, but, few men. 95% ladies who lunch.

Wonderful location! We enjoyed breakfast on the patio twice during our stay. Great location and excellent food!

Upmarket French Pastry and Cafe Fare

By Poleinahole |

This restaurant tucked behind the Peninsula Hotel was humming on Sunday at 2 pm. It’s a small place and has limited seating in winter when the sidewalk terrace is closed. The pastry counter is large and many nearby well heeled and expensive dressed Gold Coast Residents pop in to pick up their regular pastry orders so it can feel busy if you are seated near the door. That is also where a large communal table allows you to be seated more quickly if you don’t mind sharing. The service is attentive and friendly. The food and coffee are good. They have newspapers you can read. Cost for an Americano, a tiny pastry dessert, a bowl of lentil soup and a veg. Quiche was about $35 including tip. I would return again but if you are looking for a quiet place to have a private chat this might not fit the bill.

This charming little cafe is a cozy, comfortable spot to warm up in after sightseeing in the cold! Lunch was soup, salad and half sandwich- each item super tasty. Finish with some beautiful yummy macaroons and hot tea. Made for a perfect stop in our day.

Calm beside the storm that is Giodano's

We found PG as a refuge from a Friday night gongshow at the Giorgano's bar area across the street before our reservation. the second night we returned because we loved the wine and the food so much. Get the wine flights (they come with a free cheese plate) and enjoy the quiet before you hit up Giordano's or just skip it all together

Once is Enough

By John |

I took two friends here for lunch. I can only speak for my own food. I had the Southwest salad, which costs $28. It was awful, not even what one could assemble in a salad bar. The desserts are quite good but extremely expensive. I had a hazelnut eclair. It was very small and $14. There is, however, a charming outdoor area that might be worth the cost.

Breakfast

By Mary F |

Had breakfast here one morning, service was good, restaurant was bright and clean and breakfast was good although a little pricey.

Outstanding

By mariampardais |

What a cute little spot ! My first visit to Chicago and decided to try out this out this restaurant what a delight. My husband had the Rueben sandwich and I had the Greek salad . Both was absolutely delicious. A five star ! Service was also outstanding.

Best Breakfast in Chicago

By ryleus |

Most delicious breakfast in Chicago! My family dined at Pierrot from a trip advisor review, we were not disappointed! The food was delicious, well prepared and taste great! We had Scottish Smoked salmon, French toast bites (best French toast ever!) and pastry’s all of our selections did not disappoint felt great after breakfast not too full we went on to have a great day!

Always Great

By Amanda I |

I’ve eaten at Pierrot Gourmet multiple times now and the food has already been great. My favorite dish is the truffled chicken pot. The light, flaky crust that tops the dish creates the perfect balance with the heavier truffled chicken filling. The almond croissants here are also a MUST. They run out of these fast, so I would recommend grabbing these earlier in the morning.

Excellent french style restaurant

By swedensm |

This is located under The Peninsula hotel - in fact it's part of the hotel I think as you can charge to the room. And it's excellent. We had both breakfast and lunch here. Both really good. Nice fresh food and great coffee. Attentive service.

Lovely lunch

By jgood06 |

A colleague and I had lunch here. We both had salads which were full of baby greens, grilled chicken, dried cranberries, nuts etc.

An excelent discovery to visit Chicago

By Jose M |

I really enjoyed my choice of visiting Pierrot on my last visit of Chicago. I was tired of the regular breakfast at Corner Bakery so I decided for something more fancy. Well I'm not dissapointed at all, the place is by itself fancy, cozy and with an excelent kitchen. I wish they could have had a little bit more of variety of choices but the food is delicious.

You just can't go wrong...

By BigTraveler002 |

Excellent service, great menu, wonderful desserts. Nice outdoor patio. Not much more I can say, it just never disappoints. I recommend trying the rotisserie chicken or the salmon (lighter portion), the Chicago steak salad or the shrimp one. Deviled eggs are great, too. Oatmeal for breakfast is great.

Fantastic food

By PCapa |

A great spot to pop in for Breakfast, lunch or dinner. Food was excellent and setting was great. A very nice spot.

Charming and Delicious

By Michael M |

I ate breakfast here on a recent visit to Chicago. I walked past the place and was immediately drawn in its beautiful and rustic charm. It's like walking into a little French farm house that offers a great menu and classic pastries. The quiche lorraine was quite good but the showstopper of the morning was the almond croissant. When my server placed this in front on me, it could tell it was made by someone who knows how to handle their dough. It looked perfect. Crisp and flaky all around with the browned almond pastry cream on top and sliced almonds. Then one taste confirmed an obsessive pastry chef is working in the kitchen. The pastry cream was not too sweet and heavy, like so many you find in flavored croissants. No, this one was light and had just the right almond flavor. It's like angels made it. If you are eating this for breakfast, you could easily think you are still dreaming. It's just that good. If you go for breakfast, go early and skip the rest of the menu. Start with one end of the pastry case and work your way through to the other end. You're not going to want to miss a single thing. You will need to spend the rest of the day walking it all off, but it's well worth it.

Really lovely spot

By Erik Haslun |

Such a pleasant space and just what we needed for our last dinner before leaving - light airy space, excellent simple (in a good way) food and a waiter (Andres) who was really pleasant and offered great suggestions.

Excellent service for a very good breakfast

By gio1508 |

Pierrot Gourmet, which is a name of an old French bonbon, is a nice small spot attached to the Peninsula Hotel in Chicago. Quite with French deco the restaurant has excellent service with very fresh ingredients particularly over breakfast. There are a few tables outside on the street. It is not expensive for the quality of service and food.

Classy and Cute Cafe that is in Need of Classical Music!

By Arctic Lights |

Pierrot Gourmet has perhaps, one of the best desserts in the neighborhood - their white-chocolate-blueberry and raspberry cheesecake has crème fraiche and graham crust and is my personal favorite. Although, the "Chocolate Obsession" is to die for too (Devil's Food Cake, Valrhona Satilia Chocolate). But there is no dessert there that won't highly satisfy you. The French Onion soup is lovely, however, their older menu before Peninsula gave their outside cafe (Pierrot Gourmet) an up-do was much better. All in all, a classy place with an ok wine selection, great service and attention to detail.

AMAZING SERVICE BY BEN, ERIK and LUIS.

By AROUNDTHEWORLD! |

Amazing service by Ben, Erik and Luis this morning The place outside is charming. I enjoyed so much my breakfast with my Avocado toast .. so fresh and very tasty My expresso was excellent and the yuzu tart outstanding. Definitely my best breakfast in Chicago A GEM ❤️

Delectable breakfast croissants, pastries and main menu items

By wenfamily |

Came for a weekend breakfast quite early well before 8am, yet by 8:30am the cafe restaurant was almost fully seated. The puff pastries were phenomenal - being spectacularly light and deliciously buttery. The breakfast items were all deliciously imagined; I had the vegetable hash which was really good - purple cabbage, maitake mushroom, roasted peppers, onions all lightly stir fried and served warm. Service was impeccable. Cannot get any better than this!

Wonderful dessert

By #the_vacationist |

Stopped in after dinner for coffee and dessert. The options are awesome. Wonderful coffees, cakes and macaroons. Great coffee. And best of all is the staff. Check out Pierrot for dessert, or maybe a meal. Nice little place. Enjoy.

Delicious with enjoyable ambience.

By Andrew D |

We loved the delicious twist on their dishes, the wine flight and the overseas feel the the restaurant. I thought the wines were fantastic.

Delicious Breakfast

By Patricia S |

We had an early breakfast here which was delicious. They have their own bakery and the food was moderately priced.

Adorable cafe

By jeanna85 |

Had a delicious chai latte to go. Wish I came hungry because the pastry looked outrageously good. Nice vibe.

Perennial Favorite

By Arctic Lights |

Love the delicious quality of food at Pierrot - without fail it always impresses with high quality ingredients, good portions and flawless service. It’s a cozy and comfortable spot in downtown Chicago, just one block off Michigan Avenue on Superior. With the quality of Four Seasons, but priced more reasonable, it also has a good selection of wine and cocktails. I love the rose macaroon dessert too with rose water and four raspberries sandwiches inside, it is a treat to salivate over!

Fantastic breakfast

By GR260 |

If you are looking for a breakfast that is a cut above, don't miss the Pierrot Gourmet. We had the Shrimp and Grits, as well as an order of their Bananas Foster Waffles. Both were off-the-chart delicious. And the service was impeccable, as well as the delightful setting. This is not a "cheap" breakfast by any measure, but worth every penny.

fantastic

By Tia |

beautiful restaurant in the castle, delicious food and the best waiters try the gere solus wine impressive garden

Dessert review - sooo disappointing!

By bhappy50 |

I finally got around to having dessert here (after looking in the display case as I was passing by on previous visits). The desserts look wonderful, but the flavor is mediocre. We split the banana brownie and chocolate cake and a hot chocolate. Sadly, nothing was better than average, especially at these prices. I am a dessert foodie, and had an amazing experience recently at the jean philippe patisserie in Vegas, so my expectations may be higher than the average person. But even my two companions were underwhelmed.

Best Chicken Truffell Pot Pie Ever

By BucketListTraveler16 |

If you are within the city of Chicago, do not miss this place. I've been to Chicago three times this year and Pierrot Gourmet was the first and last stop each visit. The food is fabulous, the service is great and the pot pie will make you want to lick the bowl. They were kind enough to package one perfectly for the road so I could take one home. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all good. I took half a dozen croissants home as a gift for the person who recommended this great restaurant. Thank goodness for foodie friends.

Spot On

By IBBETSY_11 |

Went for breakfast which now know they serve all day Not your ordinary breakfast place but i highy recommend it the flavors were amazing in every bite ( Popover With Chicken & Sweet Potato Hash tomato, asparagus, mushrooms, poached eggs, mustard mousseline) is what i had quaint little place i believe a favorite for locals

Warm, cordial and friendly

By Dz1113 |

I ate here a few times for breakfasts, dinners and tea. The menu is simple yet adequate. I wanted some pasta which had no meat and they prepared for me with some shrimps added. At times I had to choose where to have breakfast, The Lobby or here, tough choices indeed!

Cozy and perfect lunch spot on a cold, windy day

By travchef |

The soups are very good, and the onion and cheese tarte was divine. you can peruse the desserts as you walk to your table. Very good, attentive service.

Breakfast gourmet

By Maria Raquel L |

Although its open from breakfast until dinner we only tried the first. The french toast, breads and pastries were all good and the restaurant was carefull enough to make sure that they came warm and crunchy to the table. We had coffee and hot chocolate and it was delicious. Seating on the table outside is very pleasant. Staff was very nice and eager to please. One has to pay attention not to go during the busy hours. They say it's hectic. Nice sunday brunch à la carte. As it is a part of the Peninsula hotel two things may be of interest : the price may be a little high.

Paris on Superior

By Sadie |

Breakfast was great. The menu has all different unique offerings that are delicious. Pastries are exceptional. You can order at the bakerie counter coffee and pastry to go in cute plastic bags. No reservations so you will wait a bit.

Plus + Pierrot

By Robert S |

This is a favorite dining experience in Chicago and indeed anywhere in this country! It is the most reminiscent of French breakfast that we can fathom. Despite the sprinkle of rain, they accommodated our request to be outdoors on their patio and tucked us nicely just outside a door recess with just enough cover. The Quiche was stellar, the fruit fresh, coffee/cream delicious and paced nicely with no hint of rush. The service was top notch and attentive without being obsequious. We shall return!

Very nice for breakfast

By Niv T |

We had breakfast here on a Sunday morning. It was very nice: the egg dishes are all signature dishes and the coffee was fine. They having amazing looking pastry cakes etc and they also taste vey nice. The place has a nice feel. The service could be a little more efficient if they had more people on the floor and behind the till too where they sell the pastry.

Great service and nice atmosphere

By Alison C |

We came for lunch, had the lentil soup and beet salad. Service was outstanding and welcoming. The food was fresh. Dessert was even better with their tiramisu and cakes. Well worth the visit.

Lovely evening on a sidewalk Cafe

By RamSRam |

Dropped by this great place, for a meal and wine. It is the perfect setting for a leisurely dinner or a fats lunch, which ever you choose. Ambience, just a block away from Michigan, and in the busy crossroads, is still elegant. We had the chicken pot pie, steak salad, wine and cocktail.Service is excellent and food perfect. A keeper.

Exceptional venue

Exceptional view, with great offerings including seasonal specials. Great service. Highly recommended.

Mushroom Flatbread

By Rolf A |

This is the perfect place for a fine meal just off North Michigan Avenue at Chicago. The service staff is always friendly and the food is consistently excellent. I especially like their French Onion Bowl and their mushroom flatbread is better than most thin crust pizzas served in the area.

Best Rotisserie chicken EVER!

By Nannie M |

If you're a protein lover, I highly recommend this amazing little restaurant. I ordered my lunch to go as they were slammed. It was the perfect afternoon meal before a big event.

Tasty Saturday Breakfast

By windycityfamily |

We stayed the Peninsula and chose to eat this restaurant instead of the the lobby restaurant for breakfast buffet option. This provided a good selection in a smaller space with outside dining options. Everything came hot, fresh and delicious. Instead of getting the biscuits and gravy entree, I opted for the side order and a side of bacon. I thought the bacon would be one or 2 strips but it came as an order of 5 for only $5 which was great for the thick cut bacon. Other items that we enjoyed were the flatbread (like a cheese pizza for a 7 y/o), the biscuits and gravy entree, peninsula breakfast and a few pastry items. For the 4 of us, it was $100 with tax/tip. It was nice they had an assortment of newspapers available on the table.

You feel like in Europe

By Toret8 |

I moved from Europe a couple of months ago and I discovered the terrace just by passing by. The service was excellent (a German lady was the waitress at my table and she was terrific). The food brought be back to Europe. Nice quiches (a bit colder that what I like, yet delicious). I go very often now to have a nice lunch and/or one of their delicious pastries. The portions are very reasonable. No need to waste half a plate nor to eat twice the amount you need. They also have good coffee...not a given in downtown. I keep on going back and although it's part of the Peninsula, it's totally affordable for the high quality they deliver.

Wonderful quiet breakfast

By Maxcie S |

I was in Chicago for a girls trip. I’m an early bird so I was up and wanted to find a place to have breakfast, read the paper and relax. This was the place. I sat outside at a bistro table. Even though it was cool out, their outdoor heaters worked well. The service was fantastic and attentive. I was asked as soon as I was seated if I would like a paper or a magazine. I read the paper, ate a fantastic frittata and was given a coffee to go to sip as I wandered around Michigan Avenue window shopping while waiting for my girlfriends to awaken. Perfect.

Lovely Lunch With Friends

By SJ2065 |

Our lunch last Thursday at Pierrot Gourmet was just fantastic. From the moment you walk into this lovely café, and greeted by the warm host, you know you're in the right place. I am so glad I picked it. I had the Baguette Jambon-Fromage with salad and white asparagus soup...that soup is outstanding. Others had the Whole Wheat Pita, and Rotisserie Chicken...and cleaned our plates. We also had the cheesecake and lemon tart. Delicious. I like my lemon tarts on the tart-side and this one did not disappoint. Our server was attentive and gracious. Your café delighted our group, grammar/high school friends, from New Jersey. Thank you for kicking off our 1st, but not last, stay in Chicago. Our complements to the kitchen, staff and management. This place is, as my Dad would say...aces.

Excellent breakfast

By travelwithpam |

My first trip to Chicago and this restaurant was suggested right outside of the Peninsula Hotel. Great food & cute atmosphere. I had the blueberry waffles. Excellent coffee

Delightful!

By mbdavis2018 |

This spot in the lobby off the Peninsula Hotel is the perfect place for an afternoon respite. The pastries are so good! In nice weather make sure to sit outside and people watch.

Hidden spot behind Michigan Avenue

Very nice space for enjoying a late breakfast or picking up something delicious to go. Outdoor seating is quiet and service is great.

dessert, sigh

By Coby S |

We happened upon this wonderful place while walking back to our hotel and oh my. What a sweet place. We had coffee, and shared a few macarons, and a Raspberry Rose Macaron and some kind of tart--everything was delectable. The atmosphere is lovely. Nice place for a date.

Amazing hidden gem!

By Chuck R |

We can't believe we've only just discovered this! I'm our twelve years visiting Chicago this is our top breakfast/ lunch place! Easily the best coffee and pastries! The staff, every single person, is beyond friendly and accommodating. A huge shout out to Ben! Awesome experience, whether it's a sit down meal or carrying out some coffee and pastries.

Nice Breakfast Place

By Jean C. Taveras |

Visited Pierrot Gourmet on a weekday morning and had a great breakfast. They serve fresh orange juice and fruit and have delicious waffles, french toast, omelettes etc. My whole family enjoyed this restaurant and we even walked out with a few treats! The macarons and cakes are also amazing.

Could Have Been in Paris!

By Jeanne T |

My husband and I stumbled upon this charming spot while in search of Sunday breakfast. Our hotel concierge had sent us to another restaurant up the street, but we passed by Pierrot on the way and it was so inviting, we just had to stay! The outdoor seating was a scene right out of Paris with bistro style cafe tables and flower boxes partitioning the seating area from the sidewalk. It was a little chilly, but a beautiful day, and we couldn't resist sitting outside. Heaters above the tables made it very comfortable. The team service was friendly and efficient, and both the coffee (I had a latte adorned with artful flowers in the foam!) and food were excellent! My Alsatian breakfast scramble featured eggs, potatoes, asparagus and brie with a delightful salad of shaved fennel, fresh arugula and citrus vinaigrette alongside (yes, salad with breakfast!), and it was nothing short of divine! My husband had an egg white scramble with smoked salmon and chive, also accompanied by the lovely salad. He ordered a side of bacon, which was ample and delicious! We would happily have breakfast here every Sunday if we could!

Very nice menu, excellent location

By travchef |

We've done both breakfast and supper here, and can highly recommend either. The service is friendly and efficient. For breakfast, try the yogurt parfait or sticky cinnamon rolls. At supper we tried and loved the French Onion Soup and the Alsatian flatbread with bacon, onion and Gruyere. Located right off the Magnificent Mile makes it a convenient and delicious option for all day dining in a lovely ambiance.

French Cafe

By JParlante |

Breakfast in a French Cafe setting. Great pastries and croissants. Quiche for breakfast along with a cappuccino. Good food and friendly service.

Hands down, the best!!

By Al |

This is our favorite place for breakfast in Chicago. The food is fresh and delicious, atmosphere is that of quiet elegance, and the service is amazing. Ben is a true asset to your organization. He remembers us every time we come in, has THE best smile, and kindest heart. We’re obviously not the only ones who think so highly of him, based on the hugs that other guests have for him. If we lived in Chicago, we would eat breakfast here daily!

Great food and service

By SigalH |

Visited with family a couple times during our short visit. This place is great, food and service. The staff was very accommodating, even with a large group including children. The food is delicious, specifically the popover breakfast dish. We had a great time and will visit again. Great coffee too!

Mother daughter trip

By Yash C |

Walked in for some dessert but the aroma got us hungry. The place has a rustic French look . The sliders were some of the best we have ever tried Chicken BLT flatbread was a little under seasoned but oh so flavorful. Chocolate eclair was delicious and the chocolate cake oh so decadent. Great to stop in for a quick meal or some really delicious dessert and coffee.

A touch of French near the Magnificent Mile

By PierreB |

Quel surprise. Just happened on this bistro. From the outside eating patio area to the Provencal decor, you feel you have never left Paris We tried the Organic Kale salad and the Ahi Salade Nicoise. We also observed several guests trying the quiche and the soup a l'onion gratinee. Finished the light lunch with the best cappuccino and macarons that we ever ate. A delightful environment, cordial service and excellent food

Convenient Restaurant Choice Adjacent to Peninsula

By T H |

I was staying at the Peninsula and stopped in one evening on the way back from shopping for a quick bite to take back to my room. After much contemplation, I decided on the quiche. (There were also tempting pastries; however, I was able to resist). The wait was about 10-15 minutes. The quiche was tasty and the portion was sufficient to get full. I particularly appreciated the fact that it was warm throughout, given its thickness.

Looking for a French lunch - disappointing

By pecosbill12 |

We went to have a sip of rose wine and a French lunch at this restaurant attached to the Peninsula hotel. Service and server was very good. The sale ordered was delivered with the beef being undercooked or raw. The server agreed and took it back only to redeliver the salad with the meat overlooked- tons of it- and very little of the salad. They took it back and I was not charged. Well handled but disappointing

Good for casual lunch or . .

By Jonathan L |

Fun venue - good food - good service - great location. Highly recommended for a light meal, coffee or just a rest stop

Great all day

By Jeff K |

Excellent all around restaurant. Great menu, love breakfast on the patio, happy hour, lunch and dinner. The location is fabulous.

Lovely brunch experience

By XinnieY |

Came here on a Saturday around 11am. We didn't have to wait too long to be seated, about 10 minutes. They have a bench/wait area that's inside the first door so you can stay warm in the winter. Small and cozy place. Lots of colorful dessert on display. I had the alsatian scrambled eggs, it was fantastic. Bf had the vegan hash, he also liked it. We ended our brunch with green tea yuzu and chocolate eclairs. Since we were stuffed, I didn't get to try other dessert. Would love to come back and try other eye-catching dessert. Lovely service as well!

Very good for breakfast

By Edith D |

Very good option to have breakfast while other options in the area don’t open in the morning on weekdays just on weekends. We went on Sunday and it had a long waiting list to seat outside so we returned on Monday and it was less crowded. The dishes were very good, but in some we asked for some changes like the omelettes to be made only with whites and they brought them normal, nevertheless it was a good place and the service was excellent.

Great find for Sunday lunch

By Susan H |

Really enjoyed the service and food. Patio is perfect for people watching. Zero rushing which was fab.

Great pastry, hot chocolate

By randan22 |

Chocolate cake with ganache was very good. The chocolate eclair was amazing. Try the hot chocolate with pistachios. It has a unique flavor I've never tasted before - delicious!

TOP NOTCH SERVICE BY MERRILIE..!!!

We love definitely this charming place The breakfast is outstanding gorgeous french pastries and also the lunch is a must here. Do not hesitate to try the pastries and especially the macaroons .. a must ..!! It’s a very cozy place where it’s possible to seat inside or outside. But the reason we are coming here 3 or 4 times per week It’s for Merrilie, she always go above and beyond to please you. She is definitely a great asset for the Peninsula. We tried so many place in Chicago but definitely this one is our favorite for the service. Thank you Merrilie for your smile, your excellent service We can’t wait to come back very soon to see you ...!!!

Beautiful ambiance delicious pastries

By Tantra Butterfly |

just now This evening after passing by this bistro multiple times on my daily walks; I finally stopped in to have dessert. The staff here are all extremely sweet and eager to help. Tonight I was just craving a late night dessert so I glanced at the pastry options and picked a dark chocolate eclair and iced chai. The eclair was light, flavorful and made with high quality chocolate . My iced chai was sweet and generous in size. I chose well and the weather outside was perfect for relaxing and people watching. I'm definitely going to come back here to try a light lunch because I noticed they have French onion soup here amongst other temptations. I'm so glad I gave this bistro a try. It's part of the Hotel Peninsula and it has a cozy vibe and beautiful ambiance. I'll definitely plan on returning soon to try a light lunch or dinner because their menu items are tantalizing!

So delicious!

By ccrosthwaite |

Such a gem! This little bistro was cute, very charming French decor. Great looking menu. The food was delicious! Enjoyed every bite. Had a great menu as well. The server was super! They also sold French patisserie, everything looked so good in the display. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

It was the last morning I had in Chicago and I came upon this restaurant and I was not disappointed at all. The food was amazing, the coffee was great and the desserts let’s just say yummy! When I go back to Chicago in July I will be sure to stop by here again for breakfast.

Best Breakfast in Chicago downtown

By ek1974 |

I had breakfast at Pierrot Gourmet because I stayed at the Peninsula Chicago, and they gave me the breakfast credit. It was excellent choice. "Shrimp and Grit" was the best breakfast I've ever taken. Next time I will definitely go to Pierrot Gourmet again.

Feast for the early bird

By ZsMcQueen |

This place opens early in the morning, makes it easy for the ones who have very limited time in the city. Early yet warm hosting, the moment you step in a bold smile welcomes you and directs you to your table. Quality ingredients, care in services, tasteful, this is a must-try place.

Pierre Gourmet FABULOUS

By Dawn W |

We popped into the Pierre gourmet for late lunch early dinner on the first day of our trip. We had our six year old with us. They promptly brought her a brand new 8 pack crayons sweet little coloring book with stickers and an adorable stuffed bear. She was thrilled and we were delighted for her to be so entertained while we lingered over the menu and a glass of wine. We wanted to try everything. Eventually we decided to come back and settled on the minestrone soup and tuna tartine, small French salad, lobster Mac and cheese and the children's Mac and cheese and a side of berries. WOW!! First it was a lovely presentation and the lobster Mac and cheese had large chunks of fresh lobster all through the dish. The salad was a Bibb lettuce with a very light yummy dressing. The soup and tartine were equally delicious. Kudos to our server for selecting a great wine too. Our daughter who is very picky ate every bite of her Mac and cheese and the side of fresh strawberry, black berries and blue berries were polished off too. Everyone was so pleasant. The bistro is decorated so nice. We enjoyed it so much we plan to have breakfast and another dinner so we can try the roasted chicken pot pie, truffle burger and the beautiful desserts we saw when we came in the door. Can't say how nice it was to bring a child to a restaurant and have them taken care of so well. Besides the food was just wonderful! Going back again and probably again!

What a treat!

By Steve & Amy G |

This was highly recommended by friends and so we tried it for an early dinner. It was very good. The portions were just right for non-big eaters. Of course, we had to try the sweet treats and those were good as well.

Delicious breakfast spot near many hotels

By Tricia M |

The Food and atmosphere is perfection! Delicious coffees and pastries-so goo we went back the next day. We had their croissants, Quiche Lorraine, Croissont and egg sandwich and egg frittata…so good but what is an absolute MUST is the Lavender Cappuccino! Excellent service as well-I would give it 10 stars if possible

C'est Magnifique!

By Robert S |

Paris in Chicago is not hyperbole. All one would really need is a lap dog, closer tables and perhaps a whiff of cigarette smoke wafting in the breeze to transport this lovely corner bistro into a Parisian cafe. Really; it is that good. Breakfast items are pretty basic and tasty. Of course you need to enjoy the croissants! Of course you deserve a breakfast dessert! Go for at least one! Service is attentive without being obsequious or fawning (after all, it is Peninsula Hotel). A trip to Chicago without dining here is unthinkable...

Superb

By Peter M |

Hotel recommended and delighted they did ! What a fantastic brunch we had , food was too notch and the service was superb. Big thanks to Rebecca who took out details and made sure we got a table. Definitely worth a visit

Perfect day for breakfast outside!

By Empty Nesters GA-AL |

Everything about our breakfast at Pierrot Gourmet was a five-star experience! From the helpful and friendly staff, to the delicious food, and especially the setting of their outdoor seating area. The Quiche Lorraine was delicious, a large portion perfectly cooked. Will be back!

Perfection at Pierrot Gourmet

By sweetmnmama |

We had to return to the Pierrot Gourmet as it is one of the best breakfast spots in Chicago. We ordered the Quiche Lorraine which was very flavorful, cooked to perfection, and the crust was magnificent. We also ordered the Bananas Foster Waffle which was the best. The waffle consistency was spot on and the bananas were nice and fresh. The syrup which was a carmalized banana was addicting and this dish is amazing as breakfast or dessert! While waiting for our meal, we ordered a hot chocolate which was divine. All in all this is an excellent choice while in Chicago.

AMAZING SERVICE BY ALI - DOROTA and GABRIEL ..!!!!

By AROUNDTHEWORLD! |

The service here is always Amazing ..!! Ali, Dorota and Gabriel are very professional and so friendly A real pleasure to stop here. My lunch was delicious ..!! Nice little breakfast!

By Adamsfamily520 |

My mother and I shared a piece of quiche, chicken sausage and breakfast potatoes and all were delicious. Unfortunately we didn't partake in the pastries but they looked amazing and I did see several people carrying boxes from the restaurant, so they must be pretty popular.

Superb!

By RAVLOTS |

Across the street from Giordano's pizza, it's hard to choose, but if you chose Pierrot's, you didn't make a mistake. We sat at a community table and we still had privacy. The food was delicious, fresh, bright, and plentiful. I had the whole wheat pita with chicken. It was full of delicious veggies and a light yogurt sauce. A side salad came with it and it was just enough. My friends had quiche and they thought it was terrific, too. Service was excellent and the ambiance was very pleasant. Just off Michigan Ave and the crowd, this one is a nice retreat before you head back to the streets.

Fantastic Brunch

By Reece |

A truly lovely experience enjoying brunch at their outdoor dining section! Fresh squeezed OJ, fabulous quiche and Adolfo, my server, was spectacular!

Excellence in a small package

We originally went across the street to Giordano's, as one of the "places you have to eat at" in Chicago. The wait there was over an hour, so we decided to forgo pizza. Walking back across the street, we noticed this quaint little European-style place, and decided to take a chance. We were seated immediately by a very courteous hostess. She asked us if we minded being at a community table, we had no problem with that. We ended up never having any company at the table, which was a shame, because Pierrot Gourmet should be be on that "must eat at" list. We started off with their spinach and artichoke dip, which had fried spinach leaves as a topping. AMAZING, that delicate crunch made that appetizer, very pleasing. The Guhlwine was fabulous, perfect temperature and smooth flavor blend. Between the three in our party, we had an outstanding Pen Chicken salad, a Truffle pot pie, and a Quiche Lorraine. All our selections were wonderful, and the accompanying salads to the entrées were the perfect size and balance to heavier foods. The dessert selection was extremely varied, with many different tastes to choose from. We selected the crème brulé and the caramel tart. Both were superb and gone rather quickly. Our servers were prompt, courteous, and helpful with making our selections. We hope more people will discover this little Chicago gem and enjoy the European atmosphere, excellent food and service, and spread the word. Well done, Pierrot Gourmet.

We celebrated a great occasion with an amazing evening. The staff made sure everything was flawless and was incredibly kind and attentive. Each dish was obviously lovingly prepared and bursting with flavor. Unquestionably one of Bristol's greatest Italian eateries. The evening was made even more delightful by the place's charming atmosphere. I'm eager to return soon!
