Top tasty fried chicken

By Irena K |

Amazing chicken fried with a bit of sweet sauce and placed in a biscuit bun. For foreigners definitely non-standard food but absolutely tasty and delicious. I have enjoyed the dinner, the place is really cozy and staff is friendly. I recommend trying Chicken Biscuit and spicy black eyed pea salad.

Mediocre at best

By sokuti |

My husband ordered the catfish box and I ordered the pulled pork box. My husband got the collard greens and I got the mac & cheese side. Both orders came with coleslaw and pickles . The catfish crust was unbearably salty. Had I ordered it I would have sent it back but he toughed it out. My pulled pork ( which I ordered unadorned with spicy vinegar because I wanted to get the unadulterated pulled pork flavor) was dry as a bone and not very flavorful. I could understand why someone would want it doused with spicy vinegar. The coleslaw consisted of cabbage and dressing practically puréed to a pulp and the mac n cheese was not better than a box of Kraft. The only decent item was the collards which were seasoned and cooked just right. I would not recommend this place.

I eat here every Sunday

By isabella m |

This place is the best. The wait can be up to an hour on busy mornings and afternoons. But honestly, who cares? Stop complaining. The restaurant is a small restaurant and it's damn good. I saw some reviews saying the staff isn't friendly? That's a lie. Think about what they do. They are on their feet for hours serving you and other tables, making sure that you're having a good time. Does that mean they are unhappy? No. They could be just a little hungover, or tired from working, or a little stressed out about LIFE. Again, who cares? Enjoy your company. The food... The best. I think for twelve weeks straight I came here on a Sunday for brunch. You cannot go wrong with anything you order on this menu. My boyfriend and I will order three or four things to split because we can't make up our minds mostly because we want everything! Prices? Not pricey at all. If you're from the south or not in the tri-state area then yeah sure it may be pricey but in comparison to a lot of places in NY, it's not at all. If you're going to complain about the food prices, cook some eggs at home. This place is so good that one time my boyfriend and I sat next to a couple from England that were visiting New York for the first time. After some complimentary drinks, we invited them to brunch. Obviously we picked Pies n' Thighs. When we met them at the subway to walk over, they said they had this restaurant on their bucket list! Anyway, will be back.

Massive let-down !

By Andrew H |

On a recent visit, we opted to order a "take-away" chicken box, which included three pieces of what some consider to be some of the finest fried chicken in NYC, along with corn bread and a biscuit. We were massively disappointed. The chicken tasted like KFC, i.e. dry and lacking any meaningful flavour or character. The corn bread and biscuit were also dry and tough, which suggested that they had either been cooked early in the day and reheated or were just poorly put together. In any event, whilst the concept of pies n thighs seemed appealing at first sight, the execution was sadly lacking.

Delicious

By Barbara W |

This is a very small “Goldmine”. You should either go on yelp to make a reservation because it’s always busy. The food is amazing!! I got the fried chicken with a side of bacon. My daughter got fried chicken and waffles a biscuit is included. We had to wait a bit for our meal but our waitress gave us a freshly made donut to share. It was amazing. We also got a few slices of pie to go. Apple, Peach and Bourbon Pecan. Excellent!!!! Give it a try. You will go back !!

Don’t hold a clever name against this place

By Piero C |

The southern inflected cuisine on tap at this small restaurant in the one time hipster capital of the universe is excellent and served quickly by a very attentive wait staff. The side dishes are tasty and authentic, and the banana cream pie avoids being cloyingly sweet with a beautiful stiff crust on hand to reinforce its billows. The taste is not NYC but the price and portions are.

First Stop - Chicken n Waffles for Breakfast

By BecNPep |

We arrived before they opened - so a little rushed getting things going - took a while for the chicken but it was HOT and pretty good. Waffles left a little to be desired but not bad. Service was great, even threw in some biscuits for the wait. We should have left room for the donuts, they looked fantastic. Was a good kick off for our day.

MMMM Good

By Susan M |

Had a bit of a wait to get seated but it was worth it. Luckily there are more tables in the back. Took quite a while to be served but the fried chicken was worth it. Had no room for pie though , darn

Excellent fried chicken & biscuits

By SF_A-bell |

Relaxed no-frills, wonderful fried chicken and catfish, and biscuits. Oh, the biscuits! They're to die for. Not a place for those on a diet. Small place so it gets crowded, but it's worth the wait. Friendly staff will fit you in as soon as there is a table.

Good Food

I have gone to this place with different friends and we all enjoy the food. The biscuits are amazing and we always had great service.

Birthday dinner with family

By La_Chef_NYC |

This year we celebrated my birthday at this quaint little eatery. It's literally a hole in the wall. Pies + Thighs got great reviews on tv and my niece always raved about it so we went. Food was on point! I ordered the 3pc fried chicken w/macaroni + cheeses and a biscuit w/sweet butter. It was fingerlicking good. Word to the wise, do not go on the weekend, it's packed.

A one time only visit...

By Kimleah |

This isn't somewhere you'd go more than once - southern style cuisine that gives you a taste of what you don't want to be eating too much of! A mixture of deep fried chicken and waffles isn't for everyone. The decor is a little run down but part of the charm. The service was anything but friendly. I wouldn't go back but am glad I tried it.

Chicken and Waffles

By Elizabeth D |

Service great - atmosphere funky and fine. Chicken and Waffles did not meet my expectations. Perhaps I'm rooted way to deep in my southern ways to think that this could pass for southern fried chicken. I expected chicken dredged in buttermilk and pepper fried up w/ a good scald in the skin to compliment buttermilk waffles. Nope - the fried chicken was average but my waffles good - in a hearty buckwheat kind of way. I tasted the mac-n-cheese and did enjoy that. I will return to try something else on the menu.

Perfect!

By Jen H |

We came to New York for five days and took the trip across the bridge just to come here. We arrived during the hour closing between 4 and 5, which was a shame, but came back at 5 and got a little table in the cosy cafe. Service was relaxed, attentive, the decor was welcoming, and the food... we both agreed this was the food highlight of the trip. I had the fried catfish and my girlfriend had chicken, and we shared sides, and everything was incredible. The only downsize is that we didn’t have room for desert! Thank you, pies n thighs!

Yum!

By Twolittlelores |

I've wanted to try Pies-N-Thighs since I saw them on DDD eons ago so I was super excited to eat lunch there recently. My sister and I waited about 5 minutes to be seated (lunchtime on a weekday). Everything on the menu sounded delicious, but I settled on the fish and grits and my sister got grilled cheese w/ fries and a side of mac and cheese (We shared it.) We also split an order of fried pickles. Our food came out quickly and everything tasted great, especially the mac and cheese and fried pickles. Our waiter was attentive and was on top of drinks and clearing dishes as needed.

Yummy fried chicken

By Splendid C |

Quaint little restaurant in Brooklyn that is so great for brunch on a weekend! The fried chicken is perfectly cooked - crispy and not too salty which is a rare find. The biscuit was nice as well. Friendly service and great prices.

Just Bad

By Saba |

Try the pie. Skip everything else. I felt like I was part of an off-Broadway production of The Emperors Clothes. Don't go unless you have a sweet tooth.

Awesome little Brooklyn Jewel

By 802gingers |

Great little place! Wonderful service and even better food. Walked in with a large group Saturday morning brunch rush, they were able to make seating arrangements for us! Grits, blackeyed pea salad and fried catfish were all amazing, but the pork was probably the best. Highly recommend you visiting!

Good, service to be improved

By NM F |

This was recommended by a friend that live nearby. It was good, food well prepared. The space is ok. We had the impression that the service could be slightly better. Hey America! If you have that customer/service/tips system try not to make us feel that it's an obligation. Fake it. I would return and I would highly recommend this place!

Snow storm Brunch

By Cat R |

I was visiting NYC and stayed a few blocks away from this place. During a snow storm, I ventured out and found this place. The staff is friendly and down to earth. The food is delicious. I had the fried chicken box with cole slaw and loved it. I will be back next time I’m in the area.

Getting my munch ON!

By Adam B |

Really enjoyed our tour through Brooklyn with my friend and loved our mid afternoon stop off! I had waffles and chicken I was great! Really enjoyed the crisp juicy chicken and blueberry butter and waffles to go with it.i tried the biscuits and gravy and that was great also. Will visit again, the service we got was good and polite. Food came quickly and was what we were hankering for. Worth a visit! Some of the best I've had.

Opposites attract

By EnesTgc |

I was in Ny about 50 days in this Summer, and i stayed in Williamsburg. My friend has a shop around this Restaurant. When i want to visit my friend, i had to walk through the restaurant, i've mentioned there is always people on the line. Then we decided to have lunch there. After couple of tries, at last we find a table, without wait on line in a rainy July day. I had Chicken and Waffles, and he had Big Salad as you see in pic. I thought its not enough for me, at first sight. Also i don't like to eat sweet with main course. Fried chicken was really delicious, crispy and juicy. Waffles served cinnamon butter and peach jam. I ate one of them without jam and butter, like bread. I kept the other one at the end for instead of order dessert. :))

Who says no to fried chicken?!

By Cee-Seee |

We went to an escape the room near Pies-N-Thighs and since it was national fried chicken day!, we had to go! We were a table if 8, so pretty big group for a small restaurant. Told we needed to wait 45mins, but then they opened the back room? So we were in sitting within 10mins. We got the 3pc box with Mac cheese ($15), chicken and waffles, and the catfish box($15). It only came with two thin pieces, and for me it was a bit salty. The coleslaw was a sweet slaw, really chopped like almost minced. We then had the bourbon pecan pie and peach cobbler. Both delicious. This was in July, and with the sun on us, it was pretty hot in there as the doors were opened,

Simply the best!

By brooklyntravelchic |

This is one of our favorite spots to eat in all of NYC, just good food good.... taste, always hot and fresh and friendly servers who are considerate even when very busy and this place gets packed regularly! cant wait to return.

There is a reason Pies and Thighs is popular!

By Teresa P |

Met for a family breakfast. Fast service. Delicious food. Nice atmosphere for all ages 2 to 82! No room to try pie but the apple pear sounded yummy.

OK

By pedidoctx |

It was fun to taste the chicken and waffles but I was waiting for the bang in taste. Living in TX, fried Chicken is a thing. It was juicy and crisp, just lacked in the flavor department. The buck wheat waffles I found dry with a small portion of cinnamon butter and a good serving of strawberries but no syrup to be added anywhere. The biscuits with cream cheese were great. The coffee was very acidic and warm. It was a fun experience but not on the top of my list to return.

Best Chicken Biscuit ever

By ellentwins |

On our last day in NYC we took a cab out to Brooklyn to have breakfast at Pies-N-Thighs. Best meal of our trip, and we had great meals every day. My only regret is that after sharing a donut and then having the chicken biscuit, we had no room to try the pie. We will just have to go back! Highly recommend this place!

Worth traveling to Brooklyn for.

By El-Cholestero |

We were staying in Upper Manhattan and decided to explore Brooklyn. We went to Williamsburg and saw this place. With a name like this, how could we pass it up? I'm a fried chicken fiend, and so I got the three piece chicken box. My wife got the chicken and buckwheat waffles. We were both very happy; my wife said those were the best waffles she'd had in a really long time. It's a little down home place that seems more akin to a Portland restaurant than a New York restaurant, but the food is the real deal.

FANTASTIC Pies and Thighs

By Colin and Kaylee |

The best fried chicken and soul sides in NYC! Their specials are definitely worth checking out - the creamed corn and broccoli to be specific. On top of all that - the service was fantastic!

MMmmm Good

By margonyc2017 |

Comfort food at its finest. Small place serving big flavor. Also used the catering for a party. Service with a smile.

THE BEST banana cream pie!

By Joy C |

I've had my fair share of banana cream pies and I must say, Pies-N-Thighs has the best I've ever tasted. I wish the serving would be a little bigger though!

dont let the look chase u away....

By Stephan G |

I almost missed it, when friends told me to go there. You probably already know that this plain storefront in Williamsburg serves fried chicken and pie, but it’s a mistake to overlook the shop during morning hours, when you can find hearty Southern breakfast fare. Specialties like fish and grits, chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, doughnuts, and an egg breakfast round out a menu that’s also stacked in midday fare. Best of all, you can get this menu until 4 p.m. i could have eaten the whole menue up and down.....

Amazing!!

By bkfitz10 |

Pies N Thighs has great, southern, home cooking in the middle of Brooklyn. Everything kind of tastes like it has a little extra butter (ha!) but it is, hands down, one of my favorite restaurants I've ever eaten at. I'm scared to eat banana cream pie again - Pies-N-Thighs ruined it for me because it was so good. Fried chicken, rich food, and the best dessert you could ask for. Definitely reasonably priced for NYC! Can't wait to go back!

Fourth time not a charm...

By Alexandra_ELNEW |

I read a lot about this place, being a concierge i send a lot of tourists out to Williamsburg and of course had to try it out ourselves. The first three times we went we noticed the service wasn't the greatest but being from New York i mean you kinda forfeit that sometimes for great food. I would give it at least 3 stars but i have to factor their service in and that should even push them to a one star, but the food is good....until you have an issue with the rude staff, and you know your food was sabotaged because you've eaten it before at least to know how consistent they are. Lets start with the location. Easy to get to, you can even walk across the Williamsburg bridge right after to burn all the extra calories off. The wait is usually 15 mins but could be about 30mins. The diversity of the people who come here is great. You go in and give your name, i suggest you sit in the back (in the converted garage) because the kitchen isn't there and the AC works better. Front dining area isn't so cool because of the kitchen. This time we sat in the back, Waited about 15 minutes for the waitress to come over... actually we called her over because we knew what we wanted even before we got there.... there was no greeting... ( this is normal, and it happened all four times). After about 10 minutes our drinks (peach sangria which is really good) finally arrived and my husband said to the guy (which we think is the manager).... i hope these drinks were worth the wait. He looked at him and said you bet they are. My husband was just being funny.... I don't think this manager liked his response. After 8 more minutes are food arrived. We hit that chicken at full stride my husband had three pieces and he said i cant eat this anymore...its too salty i see the salt grains. He shared his piece and i was shocked...it was as if someone had put salt all over this chicken... you could see the grains , my chicken had no salt, and no grains of salt. We stopped eatting and had to get up to get the girl to get our check. We did not complain, when she brought over the check she just put it down, without even asking how everything was. We paid and left. As we stood outside my mouth and stomach hurt from the one bite of his chicken i tasted. We concluded he add salt to his food on purpose. It was impossible for that to have happened otherwise. We are disappointed especially because we were willing to go here after the fact of the bad service but this was just abusive. Sorry but ill think it over even to come back.

Fulfills comfort-food craving

By carpediem2019 |

Very good offering of comfort food. Cole-slaw salad could be more fresh and thighs crispier. Enjoyed a cocktail and pie for dessert. Service was extra-friendly and attentive. Thank you.

yummy fried chicken

By scorpiofoodie1974 |

worth the trip and the wait for the fried chicken. although the crowd, depending on the time of day and which day can be arrogant, the quality of the food negates anything negative.

Absolutely delicious

By Laura M |

We hadn't reserved a table but they managed to fit us in, even though they were very busy. So glad they did - the food is fantastic. The biscuits were light and fluffy, the sausage gravy was worth every calorie, and the chicken was perfectly cooked. Our only regret - we didn't have any room left for pie afterwards.

Very average

By kasia s |

I ordered fried chicken box. The chicken was very dry, had small bones inside, I didn’t feel good afterwards. The pie was ok. Nothing special in general. I wouldn’t have chosen it again.

Great Southern Food

By Baffo1 |

Tried their sister restaurant on Canal Street last year that has since closed. My son who is attending design school in Brooklyn has made this location one of his go to spots. They have amazing southern food in a funky atmosphere. Highly recommended. Get here early because there can be a wait.

Chicken & Waffles for Easter Brunch

By John B |

While visiting Brooklyn over the Easter holiday weekend, we decided to have a Chicken and Waffles brunch at Pies and Thighs in Williamsburg because...why not? The food was the best. The service was friendly. The ambiance was perfect. The waffles were delicious with just the right combination of flavor and crunch. The fried chicken tasted like someone in the kitchen had a magic tube that transports it directly from Mothers in New Orleans!

A great experience

By Sue T |

Buzzing atmosphere, delicious food and a menu full of choices you just don't get in the UK. Staying in Brooklyn gives a welcome break from the manic madness of Manhattan with a choice of independent eateries too. Will definitely be back here to eat again before the end of our trip.

Don't eat too much!

By salEdawgz |

Save room for dessert. I went there with my 11 year old kid and we ate some pretty good fried chicken dishes (Chicken & Waffles w/ Mac n Cheese and a Chicken Sandwich with Hush Puppies). I must say that the only problem was my dark meat thigh was a little bit undercooked close to the bone. I saw the same for my table "neighbor" who had the same thing, so maybe another minute cooking for the dark meat, but otherwise Delicious and moist chicken. Great mac and cheese with the touch of hot sauce incorporated and hush puppies with tartar sauce. BUT we didn't have room except to share a warm plate of Apple Pie a la mode. Dumb move because it was REALLY good. So good that we wanted to take a slice home for the next day. Don't make my mistake. Take a doggie bag of chicken and get dessert. Next time I'll be trying the banana cream pie! Very affordable prices too! Service was a bit slow/relaxed; reminded me of Europe.

Good Food But...

By 4CAMS2 |

The reason for my low rating is because I was told they do not do partial seating and as a result I had to sit outside in the cold to wait on my friends 👎🏾. I had the chicken and biscuit with fries and it was GOOD, the apple pie and burbon pecan pie 👍🏽. I tasted the fried catfish and that was good as well. Thinking of taking my boys there to try it out. I would recommend and return but I will definitely make sure everyone ARRIVES together.

YUM!

By Megan W |

Unique restaurant with delicious food. I got an egg sandwich with avocado and sprouts. My husband got the special - fried oyster sandwich. We got a donut for dessert. We were happy to have found this place and enjoyed walking around the Williamsburg area.

No other place for fried chicken

By richardallan2016 |

We hadn't been back to this meca of fried chicken in a while. Have never been disappointed. We took another order home with the immense biscut for the following nights dinner. Should have taken two order there would have been no need to share with my wife.

Yummy

By Kristina B |

Great food. We sat in between the two room and it was so hot! It was cooler outside. Biscuits were delicious!

Awesome fried chicken

By jcharisman |

Wife an I sought this place out after seeing it on TV. We had some of the best fried chicken either one of us can remember. A local joint with a lot of local flavor, this should be on everyone's list.

Hidden gem

By Rhiannon |

Stumbled across this diner when walking around Brooklyn looking for lunch. Very southern vibe, food was great! The fried chicken was very crispy and tasty.

Get takeaway and don't forget the doughnuts

By galaxy1 |

I've visited this place several times of the years and their fried chicken is consistently among the best I've had. The pies are excellent, but be sure to get doughnuts as well. The doughnuts are larger than usual with a dense but yielding crumb. The toppings and fillings are distinctly flavourful and not too sweet. This place is always crowded and my advice is to order takeaway to enjoy on a shaded bench or in the comfort of your air-conditioned home (especially on hot days) where you can hose off the glorious mess of your hands-on meal.

Great, friendly place

By Persephone_Sussex |

This place stands out for its friendly service - really exceptional. It seems popular with a mixture of residents and tourists which is always a good sign. Just ordered the Mac n cheese, which was velvety and delicious, and a watermelon, cucumber and mint salad which was perfect for a warm Brooklyn evening and had a lovely balance of flavours. Generous serving of good Prosecco too. Well worth a visit.

Who needs to go south for good fried chicken?

By NLKDE |

"Best fried chicken I ever had," was the quote from everyone at our table. And the pie was the perfect ending.

Awesome food

By Lina629 |

I've been wanting to try this place for some time now and I'm pleased that my friends and I were able to dine here at Pies-n-Thighs. The restaurant isn't a big restaurant but they do have two dining options for customers, the front or the back sections of the restaurant. We were seated in the back section which was pretty cool. The wait time was long but after tasting the food, it was truly worth the wait. However, we all enjoyed our food especially me. I ordered pancakes that had blueberries in them and the chicken biscuit. The pancakes, oh my oh my were simply amazing and the best pancakes that I've ever eaten. I was completely stuffed after eating the pancakes but I wanted to try a bit of the chicken biscuit. It was pretty good, the hot sauce and honey butter meshed pretty well together. The biscuit was so good as well. One of my friends ordered the peach cobbler and shared it with us. It was the perfect balance of spices and was simply scrumptious. Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience here. The staff was very pleasant and helpful and made the experience good. I know that I will visit Pies-n-Thighs again real soon.

Unbelievable

By icj00624 |

The chicken biscuit is absolutely sensational. Breaded chicken in two warm biscuits covered in hot sauce and butter. Side of salted onion rings with horseradish dip. For dessert we had the smores pie which tasted incredible. Great value for money and a must if your hungry around Brooklyn!

Perfect.. simply perfect

By dnpsn |

If you want to eat Southern comfort food in NYC, this is definetely the place. It is a casual, friendly place with glorious food and beer. Was heading to Sweet Chicks in East Village to do this but this place was recommended to us. I am so glad it was. Delicious chicken and waffles, and chicken biscuits from humanely raised chicken. Heard that the pecan pie is also delicious but couldn't try it. Just go and eat..

Relaxed fried chicken joint

By Kel_London1 |

A must try in the area - a no thrills relaxed cafe style restaurant with a great menu. Everything that came out looked great - we opted for the famous fried chicken. Succulent and cooked in crispy chicken fat! The mac and cheese is a winner side - great value for a box and side, $14. Comes with a 'biscuit' which the Brits would term a scone - seemed a little random but tasted great. The fries are a little soggy and need some improvements but overall everything was tasty. Opt for a famous slice of pie and you will leave pretty content with this place.

So good!!

By Theetiquettorialist |

That fried chicken is a must when in Brooklyn! So good!! Very good apple pie as well. I definitely recommend you try this place - lunch is a good time! A great slice of Southern comfort food & a great atmosphere. If the 1st room seems packed and they ask you to wait outside, ask if the 2 back rooms have available tables! We waited 10mn for no reason whatsoever because we didn’t know there was tons of seating in the back so, good to know! Go, you won’t regret it!

The box is cooked.

By K C |

What a very nice find. Popped in for a light luncheon and were pleasantly surprised. Buzzy place. We were lucky to get a seat. Attentive service. Had a chicken box with scone ( just like my mother makes at home ) 2 X corn 🌽 cobs and a dish of fresh coleslaw. The taste was superb. Wow. Give it a try when you are in the area. Well done to all involved.

Great

By JimmyHNH |

What can I say that hasn’t been said? The chicken & waffles are terrific. Bone-in fried chicken is hard to find anymore and this is some of the best, great spices, juicy and a perfect crisp. They also have a nice selection of local beers.

Lot's of fuss for the buck

By GG718 |

Came over to try Pies n Thighs for the first time with my wife and mom. Although we're all native New Yorker's we no longer live in the city I was anxious to try this place out after hearing reviews from those outside of NYC who had eaten here. We came on a Sunday about 5:45 and did have to wait about 45 - 50 minutes to be seated at a small table intended for two. As mentioned in other reviews there is no indoor waiting area so be prepared to stand outdoors unless you're lucky enough to grab a seat on one of the few benches they have. The wait staff was friendly enough so no complaints there. I was looking forward to trying the chicken and waffles and was disappointed. While the chicken was fried well enough (could have been seasoned some more), the waffles were a complete let down. They were warm, but hard as a rock which took away from the entire experience. My wife had the chicken basket with fries. The fries were good, but the chicken lacked flavor. My mom had the catfish sandwich, which was a small piece of fish on a bun covered with coleslaw (again disappointing for her). Overall, if you want to try it out for the experience and to say you've gone, please do check it out; however I wouldn't say you needed to add it to your bucket list. Oh yeah, skip the cold apple pie; apples were under-cooked.

Hot Chicken & Donut Love

By AznWrldTrvlr |

While walking around Williamsburg, we stumbled upon this place, and I am glad we did! We checked out their Breakfast and Lunch menu and had plenty of mouthwatering things to eat. I know I should have tried their Fried Chicken Box or their Chicken & Waffles, I discovered the best fried chicken sandwich in all of NYC, their Chicken Biscuit. They do not flatten it to schnitzel thinness, they keep the chicken breasts nice and meaty in the Southern tradition. The biscuit was also a flaky, buttery one that went well with the Nashvillesque hot chicken. Also true to the Southern tradition were their Smoked Pork Collards. I could eat buckets of this stuff, so delicious! Prior to my Chicken Biscuit, I ordered their sugar yeast donut that was big and delicious. I sat next to the pastry case and it had been screaming at me since I walked into the cute eatery. I walked in thinking I wanted a light breakfast to start my day, by the end I was stuffed with Southern goodness that made me miss some down home cooking! I will be searching for this place again upon my next visit to Brooklyn.

Best breakfast I've eaten in a while

By ReutZ11 |

Pies N Thighs have become one of my fav spots in BK!! So damn tasty!!! The biscuits are mouth drooling delicious, the service is great and the music is soo cool! Highly recommended.

Amazing Chicken!!!

By Joey P |

When you go during peak hours be prepared to wait. But trust me it is worth it. The last 2 times I was in Brooklyn, I made it a point to stop in. The food is so good and worth the wait. I like the fact that it has a smaller diner feel to it. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. I also enjoy the music that they play in the background. But the star of the show is clearly the chicken. You really can't go wrong with any of the chicken dishes offered!

Sunday Brunch

By John L |

My children took me out for brunch. The food was good. Waffles and biscuits were the good. Be prepared to wait for your food. The sweets are high in sugar and tasty. The decor was rustic and nice. The wait for seating can be long on weekends. I won't give it higher marks due to the service and overall taste of the food didn't give me a wow.

Whoa! Hold onto your arteries!

By gtrain_11 |

For me this was simply too much, but my boyfriend enjoyed his fried chicken with waffles (!!). I had a "big salad" which was pretty disappointing, but I suppose it's not really the place to be eating salad, is it? If you're up for a week's calories in one hit, go for it!

Must try if you want a good brunch

By Sabrina |

I liked the southern comfort dishes they had with a twist. For example, the waffles were buckwheat with the peach glaze and cinnamon butter. Unfortunately, we didnt get to have pies but we did get the donuts and they were amazing! I highly recommend going to this place I don't think you can go wrong with ordering anything on the menu.

Must Try - Worth the drive

By ashley s |

Food: During my recent trip to NYC, I ate fried chicken every day at a different restaurant. Pies-N-Thighs had the best fried chicken. Their chicken is perfectly breaded, tender and very juicy. I had the fried chicken box with Mac and cheese as a side and a biscuit. I enjoyed everything. My only (minor) complaint was the lack of jelly options for the biscuit. My mom had the super bowl (sides plate) with collard greens, Mac and cheese, and burnt end baked beans. She enjoyed all of it. Location: They’re located on the corner of 4th street in Brooklyn. The spot is pretty small with what appeared to be less than 10 tables. There was a wait when we arrived and a constant flow of customers entering the restaurant. Due to the size of the restaurant, we waited outside on one of the two benches that were available. Service: Everyone was friendly. Our waiter was attentive. And, I liked that he mentioned their goal of refraining from using plastic. Despite the number of customers waiting, we never felt rushed. Conclusion: if you want amazing chicken, try this place. You won’t be let down. Do not let the location or wait turn you away.

So So Good!

By Joe W |

You just know it's probably so so bad for you, but with Pies-N-Thighs you just don't care. The food is really really tasty and the service is nice and relaxed, perfect for the setting in Williamsburg.

Reminded me of being in Nashville

What an amazing place! Loooved the chicken! Very fresh and crispy and all the right things! Great fast service! If you love fried chicken, this is the place for you! Also loved the Mac and cheese!!!

Damn this was good. I had the eggs, sausage and grits with the biscuit. Everything was delicious. I have been here before and it was good that time as well when i had the Chicken and Waffles. Chicken was moist and the waffles tasted cakey. They also have a bakery were they sell, you'll never guess. PIES!!!! But they also sell donuts as well. Also very good and a nice to go snack for later.

Nice place for a quick dinner after work

By Matthew H |

We went for a quick dinner on a weekday and it was fairly quiet. The server was friendly and we were served quickly. We got two mains and one side to share which was enough food for two people. The desserts are amazing and the drinks were reasonably priced. I would come back again.

Great lunch

By Michael C |

Two colleagues and had an enjoyable lunch here. Two of us had the pulled pork "box" that was excellent, as were the baked beans that our server recommend as a side. The Arnold Palmer was perfect. The fried chicken box was good and the biscuit with honey butter was the best ever. We will return - soon!

Fantastic place for breakfast

By Heong W |

Very nice personnel, vibe and food. I was happy to start my days here. Haven't tried dining here, but certainly something i will do in the future.

Best biscuit of life

By Kate H |

Really, enough said but I had the best biscuit of my life here. Tall, crispy on the outside, tender in the middle-amazing. Also, the hippie banjo sandwich was to die for.

Birthday Brunch Success!

By Candice D |

My friends took me to Pies-n-Thighs for an amazing birthday brunch. You have to try the chicken biscuit. It was delicious!

Good and greasy!

By Michelle Juul |

Had breakfast here the American way. We came early and lucky for that because the place filled up quickly! Solid all-American breakfast!

Chicken Biscuit

By TheSkyburner |

Great pies. Expensive beers, and one of the best chicken biscuits in NYC. Touch of hot sauce with the chicken fried in your an old friend, lard, and a buttery biscuit is a bit of heaven in Brooklyn.

Incredible Food!

By Katie U |

I went here a few months ago and had an amazing plate of fried chicken, biscuits, and black-eyed peas. Also really enjoyed their table-top jars of honey and hot sauce, which also tasted great together.

Great food, staff could be better

By Jezzman30 |

Went with a group of friends after 4th July fireworks for a late night meal. Meals were all great and the girl who waited on us was great. The Brisket was fantastic and my burger was delicious. The two guys who were working as maitre' d/manager however were probably the most arrogant and rude service staff I've ever had in many months of travel in America.

Great Southern Cooking

By Lorri R |

My daughter and I went for dinner before a movie. We got there just before 6:00 on a Saturday night, which was just in time because there was a wait almost as soon as we were seated. I started with an Arnold Palmer, which was the best I've had - tart and sweet at the same time. Next came the watermelon salad, with cucumber, mint and jalapeño...so good I'm still thinking about it four hours later. I had the Carolina Pulled Pork Box...lots of pork on a soft bun, with a chopped slaw and crunchy pickles. I topped mine with a bit of barbecue sauce, which was vinegar-based and medium hot. This was a great sandwich, although a bit messy to hold. I didn't care at all because it was great! I chose baked beans for my side, and they were excellent. My daughter had the Fried Chicken Box with a biscuit and mac and cheese, and those were excellent, too. We ordered the Peach Cobbler for dessert, which we absolutely did not have room for, and we couldn't finish it. The peaches were sweet and juicy and the biscuit topping was just right. Service was cordial and timely and the prices were completely reasonable for the amount of food. This will be high on my list for a long time.

Here’s your Brooklyn Breakfast spot.

By ItchingToG0 |

OMG. I may need to come back to NYC just to eat their breakfast again. Sooo good! Awesome biscuits, well cooked eggs and fried chicken. All around great and at a great price.

Great comfort food but indifferent service

By Donna D |

After Guy Fieri visited here a few years back, we have always had this on our list. We started with the fried green tomatoes -- delish. Then had the chicken on a biscuit smothered with honey and hot sauce. Oh my! So good! The biscuit is huge with a nice slab of chicken - best bargain on the menu, even though the chicken was a tad overcooked. My husband enjoyed the chicken and waffles, complete with cinnamon butter and blueberry compote. We also likes the side of crispy fries and mac and cheese (comes with hot sauce in it -- so if that isn't your thing, be sure to ask for it without). Very good sides but expensive at $5 each for the portion you get. We got one of their famous toffee donuts to go -- and were very glad we did -- delicious! Sadly, the service is just ok -- the staff is pretty indifferent and not very on the ball. With the comfort food they serve -- and the smiles that puts on their customers' faces, they should be much happier!

Amazing Donuts, Decent Food

By chrisball05 |

We ate breakfast here while staying just a couple doors down in Williamsburg. Being from the south, we thought a soul food lunch before heading into Manhattan for the day would be the perfect spot. We started off with a donut while waiting for our food and we were going crazy about it. The butter pecan crunch donut was ridiculously good! However, that's about where the raving ended. Most of us got chicken honey butter and hot sauce biscuits. While the overall flavor was good, it was about 85% biscuit and about room temp. We also had some sausage gravy which had separated into watery flour and oil with a chicken bone in it. Service was eh and was a little expensive for what it was. I don't want to knock the restaurant completely as there were some good aspects and apparently is a neighborhood favorite because it seemed to stay busy every time we walked by. Definitely stop by if you're in the mood for donuts!

Labor Day Lunch

By LisaD |

Went here for lunch. Not a fancy place but three out of four adults ordered the fried chicken box. My husband had the pulled pork. The fried chicken was delicious and crunchy. I ordered the grits as my side. The grits were creamy and topped with melted cheddar. Maybe not the healthiest meal but comfort food for sure. There are tables outside and a great location for dog spotting.

Yum

By 326ETa |

Had brunch here; catfish and grits with a biscuit. Food was pretty good. However, the real excitement came with the butter pecan donut and ginger molasses cookie I later ate. Absolutely delish. Will definitely be back for the desserts if nothing else.

Hush puppies in Brooklyn.

By jgbtravels |

We were on a food tour of Williamsburg and this was our first stop. Granted we didn't get to go in but were able to sample hush puppies outside. Some of the 18 people on the tour never heard of hush puppies(a number of Europeans on our tour). Most of us in the U.S. know it's essentially deep fried bread/cornmeal with onions, seasoning, etc. There are various ways to make them. These hush puppies were smaller and crispier than many I have had in the south. They were actually very good. I will have to make a point of coming back here on my own at some point. The restaurant was filled with customers which is a very good sign. There is a world outside of Manhattan-go see it.

RUDE!! Do not recommend

By Antoni Ferguson |

We walked here for 15 mins as we heard it was the place to eat. As soon as we walked in we where asked to go outside and wait. We were not greeted or told how long the wait would be. Don’t go here with children as you just get dirty looks from people on there. P.S guys you need to clean your tables

Oink! I think it should be called Pigs and Thighs!

By dre51 |

We wanted it all, the menu looked so great! We ordered the Rob Evans, which is basically sausage gravy and biscuit, the chicken cutlet on a biscuit, side of hush puppies and side of mac and cheese. Fabulous food, tiny place with limited seating and super friendly, efficient servers. The donuts that we saw were a thing of beauty. Loved it.

First time to Pies-N-Thighs!

By sandylovesCT |

Great small restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Great Chicken biscuit! Pecan pie is great too. Very enjoyable and memorable!! Good service from Chris!!!

OK - nothing special

By TravellingScot31 |

Bit disappointing after reading such positive reviews. Had to wait 40 minutes outside for takeaway as it's too small to stand inside. Food was all right but on the expensive side. Just back from a week in New York where portion sizes were huge compared with the UK but not here ... loads of chips but hardly any chicken with the scone. Nothing special and didn't return.

Awesome chicken and waffles

By Laurie E |

I’ve had chicken and waffles a few other places and was going to have something different on my first visit here but I heard that their chicken was extra special so I decided to try it. I have to say everyone was right and it happened to the best chicken and waffles that I ever had. I highly recommend this dish but actually the other two things that my brunch mates ordered looked great as well. My only regret was that I didn’t leave room for pie but there is always next time...

Crowded

By patrick g |

I was here for dinner and it was crowded. The food was good, especially the fried chicken, the kids loved the burgers.

Don’t speak Spanish

By ANTONIO L |

Wow your food is great excellent love it but on my last visit every time I was speaking Spanish your manager seemed offended!!! His behavior towards us was like they are going to eat and run! While paying your manager stood by the door expecting us not to pay

Fried Chicken Thighs and Donuts

By Therese Prentice |

I love love love the fried chicken thighs. They are extra crispy and they serve biscuit with a honey butter you don't want to miss. Yes, you have to make sure you try the hot sauce on your chicken. It is a small quaint restaurant. Save room for their Cake Donuts with a Toffee Glaze. It is sure to melt in your mouth.

Cool Place

By Paul Mckay |

This place is really nice, our only regret is that we arrived too early to be hungry enough to have lunch. We settled on a pie and coffee each, which were fantastic. The waitress who served us was really nice and friendly and the location was excellent.

The Best Big Biscuits Ever!

By jazzymendoza23 |

This is a wonderful little restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We went for Sunday breakfast, and when we arrived it was approximately 15 minutes before opening. The gates were down and there was already a line waiting to get in!. We got in, and once reading the menu, I wanted to try everything. So we ordered fried catfish and grits, and the fried chicken and grits. Awesome!! We each ordered a biscuit, with the honey butter. Fantastic!

Not impressed at all

By Menugirl12 |

After reading the reviews, we decided to give this place a try. Wish we would have gone somewhere else. We ordered the fried chicken with biscuits, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and banana cream pie for dessert. The chicken, collard greens and potatoes were okay. The macaroni and cheese was very grainy and bland and we could only eat one bite each. The banana cream pie was average . Nothing was overly amazing that it would warrant a return visit. The part that really turned me off was the lack of cleanliness. I saw one worker take out a huge black bag of garbage from the cellar and drag it to the street wearing one disposable glove. She then took off the glove and proceeded to wait tables. Not once did I see any hand washing. I also saw a person put on one glove to remove dirty dishes and discard food from tables, then peel off the glove and go back to waiting on tables. Again no hand washing. The place seemed very unkempt. We were disappointed in the place and will not be returning.

Wow, Wow, biscuits and gravy , fried chicken, mimosas

By Faye K |

I can't say enough about this place, don't miss it on your next visit to Williamsburg. Try all the favorites and stuff yourself.

Just Incredible

By 7880Higgy |

Where do I start? We turned up to this place after walking from Manhattan and including it in our walk around Brooklyn. We walked through the middle of nowhere to get here, and when we did we met civilisation in the form of a queue right out the door. It's worth maybe going in and making a reservation an hour before you want to eat, or ringing up, or just going for a brew at the little bike shop across the road whilst you wait. We waited for around 40 minutes and then went back in to check our reservation due to my UK phone not accepting texts in the US. We were seated around the back in a lovely little area out the way of queues. The menu is fairly simple but well thought out. We got a 3 piece chicken box to share, with a side of fries and gravy. The gravy is thoroughly recommended (it's more of a sausage/pork gravy). The fries were more of a bistro style wedge, with rosemary and other lovely herbs. The chicken itself doesn't rely on heavy seasoning, and is just a good quality chicken with a crunchy coating, complemented by its accompaniments. I would probably say one of the best meals we had in NYC (and we went there as more of a 'food trip'). The place closes at 4pm for an hour but if you are approaching that time and haven't finished (like us), you aren't rushed out and they will likely let you stay in. Do not leave here without first getting a lemon and poppyseed doughnut. It was incredible - homemade and delicious. I only took a bite when we were back on the subway and if I had known it was going to be so good then I would have got more than one. Just go here... nothing more to say

Low-key place serving great food

By Kate O |

Small resturant in Willimasnburg serving unfussy, tasty food. Setting is very simple, but you visit for the food. Had great fried chicken served with a biscuit and baked beans. Being English, wasn't sure what a biscuit was, and during my trip to the States I tried various versions and this was the best - so delicious. We went for a late lunch during the week so it was quite quiet, they close up at 4pm for a couple of hours. Would defintly go back for a quick, cheap bite to eat.

Huuuuge portions, nice fried chicken, winner

By endofavera |

We went to Pies & Thighs fairly late one Thursday evening and it was really busy. Luckily, we left it to European-late eating time and managed to get a small table by the window for the two of us. There was a really nice, busy atmosphere and people were chatting and eating platefuls of delicious looking fried goods. Get in my face. It seemed like a pretty casual affair and most people seemed to be couples or small groups of friends. We ordered the fried chicken box and the catfish box - definitely recommend both. The portions are huge and everything is really tasty. For the $14.50 each per meal, it comes with a fair amount of friend chicken/fish, a hefty portion of carbs in the form of biscuit (a scone) or cornbread, plus a side (we ordered side salads to balance out the very yellow/beige plate of food) Really loved it. No complaints. Definitely give it a visit if you're in New York. Williamsburg is a great neighbourhood.

Decent soul food

By Lenny G |

I'm from the south so I judge "southern soul food" pretty harshly. It was pretty good. Probably not good enough to bring me back. Mimosas are good, service was great, and it's a very cute atmosphere.

New York Getaway!

By DORIAN H |

This place was so cozy and cute!Great customer service? The food was awesome.Very flavorful.I had fish and grits and collards on the side.It was really good!Biscuits are to die for.Would definitely recommend and visit again!

Best chicken in NYC

By 4alexnyc |

Oh wow, maybe the best fried chicken in NYC! The chicken is perfectly brined and the skin is both crispy, light and flaky. I definitely recommend adding the buttermilk mashed potatoes which are made from real potatoes. Another must order side is the honey butter for the biscuits which are the perfect complement. Overall it probably doesn't get better than this!

Great food.

By jonah j |

Fried chicken all the way. Hush puppies were excellent. Donuts for dessert were awesome. Little noisy, lots of young kids. Seating in the back perhaps seemed somewhat quieter.

Good Lunch

By SteffiCam83 |

My friend and I meet here for lunch to catch up. Place is a hole in the wall but the food is very good. The staff are really nice. Also they take the Covid standards at the fullest. Prices are decent.

Yum yum

By Steph K |

We ate here during our stay in Williamsburg. It was absolutely delicious. I had the chicken sandwich with a salad and my boyfriend had the insane burger. We both throughly end our meals. Both burgers were cooked to perfection. The strawberry lemonade is extremely refreshing, perfect pair with your meal. We also got an oatmeal cookie to go that was delicious. Highly recommend if you’re in the area. We did have to wait 10mins outside before getting seated as the place is only tiny, however it’s worth the wait!

yummy and fun

By Ann S |

busy place for a reason....interesting food. can call for take out when busy and sit outside and watch the neighborhood

Southern Styled comfort food!

By Per N |

We ordered food from Pies-N-Thighs to our hotel. Everyone was super happy with their food. The Cat fish is REALLY peppery... Black pepper crust for the batter. So, beware you're ok with that before ordering. If so - it's amazing. The egg breakfast is simple but really tasty. Great biscuits. A good choice for comfort food in Brooklyn.

Baffled by the top ratings...

By LJ W |

I’m truly baffled by the top ratings this place has received! Through recommendations, me and a friend took a walk over. We were there quite early so managed to get a table with ease. The waitress was very welcoming and friendly (the only positive). The place felt very unclean, dated and not that appealing. The food is very bland and I didn’t find the menu attractive. The food is sloppy looking and flavourless. Overpriced too. There are so many other nicer places to eat at in the area or close by that I would advise to skip it.

Southern comfort food!

By Marty E |

We went for brunch this past Saturday, there is no sign outside but you don't really need it, just look for the people hanging out waiting for a table. We waited about 50 min for a table for 4 and it was worth it. The biscuits, sausage gravy, chicken and waffles, fish & grits, sunshine sandwich, and omg the donut..... All were perfect. It's a small place so be patient. Hostess was friendly, table staff efficient but less interactive... But I can't complain too much Worth finding this place, was featured on Triple D

Hit and miss!

By Oslo Adventures |

They serve food that will stick to your bones ;-) The food was good, soul food like mamma used to make. I enjoyed the whole experience. The only bad points was the cold coffee they served me. It was ice cold. But i got a new one. Don't try the salsa beer. It's terrible. God knows why I tried it. Otherwise if was good food. A cheap eat.

Must stop for donuts when in Brooklyn!

By Jennifer L |

We really enjoyed our breakfast meal here. The service was super friendly (Grace) and we loved the food. We had eggs and grits and the biscuits were really good. Went back the next day for a donut run and the pecan donuts were our favorite. So good!! GO!

OMG so GOOD!

By LoveTravelM |

They have big servings. So if you can't eat too much, share. The chicken box is good for sharing though my bf finished it all by himself bec he was hungry. Order the sausage gravy with it. It's not your ordinary gravy! Yum! I ordered fhe Chicken Biscuit. It was the perfect size for me! Just the right amount of spice and honey butter sauce too. The biscuits and chicken were all awesome. And of course, you must order deseert! Always go for the pies! 😋 The one I'm posting here is yummy. It's like a reese's peanut butter cup with a crunchy flakey cookie crust 🤤 Service was fast and nice as well. Make sure to come a little early as the place gets packed. I went at around 11am and I was seated immediately. Enjoy!

OMG di good!!!!

By Daniel B |

If you’re in New York this is a must go to place! The meal is awesome, huge portions and the taste is the best! A southern restaurant in the heart of Williamsburg was a great surprise of our trip!!!

great chicken and waffles

By Sydney R |

Cute little spot in Williamsburg. It was my first time having chicken and waffles and it did not disappoint! The chicken and the waffles were both very moist. Didn't love the bourbon pecan pie. The biscuits were sooo good too!

Fun time

By GeoEats |

Although the wait was long could use a larger space. The neighborhood kept us busy chatting out side. Food was good , very casual place. Maybe a plain waffle as an option. Although i liked the multigrain. The younger kids did not care for it. Ill be back (:-))

Greatest Breakfast Ever!

By Laker |

Greatest Breakfast Ever! beastie Boys approved! Lol don’t forget a shirt. Fried chicken was the greatest.

Top tasty dishes

By Chris812283 |

We had a catfish sandwich and a fried chicken with I think they were called back end beans. Both were really tasty, picture does not do justice, you just have to believe me but I recommend you visit this rough and ready little diner. The staff give you a warm welcome, they serve good beer and a passable red wine. Don't miss out on the sweet pies, pecan was great, wished I had had enough room to try the others on offer.

Had to come back

By Tinwii |

I visited this place two times, and they were both very successful. The first time I had the grilled cheese, so simple and tasty, very good fries. My next visit I chose the hippie banjo for breakfast, and it's one of the best breakfasts of my life. Well worth a couple of visits!

i love it here!

By ilokanawalay |

Came across this restaurant after reading about it in an NYC paper (can't remember which one). Been here twice with family and the fried chicken is SUPERB. It is the only thing I get, I don't care for anything else really.

Birthday Brunch

By Dadof3girls |

A great find for a brunch in Brooklyn. I had the chicken and waffles and they were fantastic. It was a short walk away from where we were staying and well worth it.

Comfort Soul Food that works any season

By Dany L |

We got a bucket of fried chicken to go and it was delicious. Not too greasy and the skin was nice and crispy. I'll get the biscuits next time. The restaurant was packed but the take out was really quick. Check out the donuts at the cash register. They are enourmous.

Long lines and average food

By jlbmpms |

I came here for dinner at 5pm thinking I would have beat the rush. There was still a 30-40 minute wait at this stage. I haven't eaten much Southern food in my life, but the chicken was dry and I didn't finish my side either as there wasn't anything particularly great about the taste (Mac/cheese). Even the biscuit was a bit average. The apple pie was nice although it tasted bizarre served cold. Overall, service was ok, but there were long waits for a table to wait for quite average food that I didn't really eat, and left feeling quite heavy and bloated anyway

Fantastic food & staff

By Staggered G |

If you are nearby - go!! Had a wonderful brunch here, it's easy going with attentive staff serving truly hearty food. The Mac and cheese with chicken won my heart and my friends enjoyed the chicken biscuit and a salad!! Try a massive donut too. Thank you.

chicken biscuit

By missjfoxx |

This place is a cute little hidden gem! I ordered the chicken biscuit which was simply amazing. Chicken + a huge biscuit with honey butter. It is a meal by itself. This is also cheap eats compared to other NYC restaurants.

Still great after all these years!

By AJP57 |

I've been going here since 2015 normally, after attending Easter church service in Brooklyn. This time, as usual, I stayed in midtown Manhattan and caught the M train on a Saturday to have lunch there and got off at the Marcy Ave. station and it's a short walk from there on the corner of S. 4th St. & Driggs Ave. The J train also services this station. Natalia was my server and she's great. I had the following sides, mac & cheese and the collard greens, that weren't like mom's but were okay. The fried chicken is as great as ever!!! I didn't have the honey butter this time so don't know if they took it off the menu or just forgot but, if my recollection is correct, it comes with your order for your biscuit. The sour cherry pie is great as usual too. Looking forward to returning especially, now that I know that it's a short ride on public transportation from midtown Manhattan. Keep up the great food and great work, Pies-N-Thighs!

Awesome food

By Tom P |

Really nice food, good atmosphere and friendly staff. Restaurant is a bit small however it is cosy and comfortable. Definitely recommend a visit.

Perfect Southern Food

By DaisyDot24 |

I'm from the south and I often do not like southern food, this restaurant was fabulous. It doesnt seem like much from the outside but the food is fabulous. The fried chicken was amazing and the mac and cheese was some of the best I have had, I loved the hot sauce on top. We split some key lime pie and it was fresh and tasty. My only complaint was that our table was next to where the collected the dirty dishes and they had a bucket for left over drinks. It kind of smelled, but if you looked the other way it was alright.

The must do

By Célia F |

We live in France, we went twice and each time we went in that restaurant ! We live the food, the atmosphere and waiters !

Those pancakes though!!

By SweetHeat |

I admit I was turned off by the extremely long wait mid morning... that was immediately turned around after we received our food, everything was delicious! Now that we know we must put ourselves on the waitlist early! Definitely a must go to spot...

So disappointed

By Jeminese B |

Upon entering we were seated right away. I ordered the chicken and waffles with a cup of coffee and some cornbread. When the coffee came, it was super bitter and the waiter changed it but it was the same...Next my chicken and waffles were just so so. Maybe it was the buckwheat batter, but my waffles were not fluffy at all and I left them on the plate. The chicken though was nice and crispy. Lastly I thought the cornbread would have least been warm. It was cold and they didn't even give or offer any butter. Maybe I came on an off day or my palate just didn't agree, but I doubt that I'll be back.

Best fried chicken in Brooklyn and yes the pies/donuts are awesome as well!

By Lejaceman |

Came here because they were featured on the show "Unique Eats"! Saw the yummy delish fried chicken and the yummy pecan bourbon pie...had to come to try it for myself. And of course shared it with my loved one as well. Remember sharing is caring especially on yummy food...actually means you care a lot! The fried chicken box is served with 3 pieces of fried chicken and a side of your choosing. I picked mac-n-cheese. Also comes with a biscuit too. AWESOME! The other entree we had was the catfish box which came with 2 fried pieces of catfish, coleslaw and cornbread. You also get to pick a side- collard greens was the choice. A WINNER...not as awesome as fried chicken but still pretty good. Both were $14.50 each and served on a place not in a box:-)haha For dessert we had the famous bourbon pecan pie $5.50 and also the pecan donut $3 which I liked more due to the size and taste. Pretty darn yummy good eats in this part of town. Happy Eating and I'll see ya with finger licking chicken on any table!

EAT YOUR FACE OFF

By adventurebugs |

Holy mother of Southern comfort food....this is it! Searching for DELICIOUS pork sausages? Perfectly prepared cheesy grits? Gigantic fluffy biscuits?? Look no further. These guys and gals certainly know what they're doing in that kitchen, I kid you not. I heard about this place on a cooking or travel chanel. I can't remember, but I threw it on the list and when I found myself in Brooklyn last weekend I made a point to go there. Took an Uber and the driver had never heard of it. The store front wasn't anything to write home about and the sign is barely visible but, I didn't let that phase me THANK GOODNESS. Low-key is the theme here but if you're interested in fantastic food at a very affordable price, just go along. I had two perfectly scrambled eggs (looked like 4 eggs, not 2) which were served with cheesy grits (fab!) a buscuit and 2 pork sausages. First, I will say the sausages here were the best I've ever, ever eaten. I was (still am) in total shock. Absolutely delicious, ginormous biscuit and grits as well. The biscuit came with a grape jelly-ish sort of stuff almost of syrup texture which was fantastic!!! My husband had catfish and fried organic eggs, which I tried (stole). They definitely know how to fry fish. Very light cornmeal coating and the fish was soft and fresh...not fried rocks which you can get with over-fried or ill-prepared fish. My husband said the eggs were fantastic and he loved the grits as well. The coffee is served in a small-ish mug but they refill often and it's decent so don't judge by the mug. This place isn't into chemicals or anything artificial and that's carried through with the coffee service as there is no Splenda, Sweet n Low or anything other than good old white sugar. Kind of a retro situation. I saw amazing looking donuts (which I think the place is known for) And speaking of retro we sat in chairs I swear came from my elementary school teacher's desk. They rock you with nice variety of tunes while you dine and the wait staff is doing just that...waiting on you hand and foot. Really reasonable bill. We ate like queen and king and even ordered pie slice to go for a total of about $32 and we tipped a full $10 on top. Just couldn't resist. On my way out, when I passed the kitchen (which you do because the place is a windy set up of little rooms) I told them they knocked it out of the park :) which they really appreciated. I mentioned the pie - I hate to say it but we dropped the box and the pie sort of turned to mush. Our fault. However, since the box was closed and the pie unsoiled, my 16 year old decided to go ahead and try it.....he said it was really sweet and coconutty and wanted to lick the box! Too bad we screwed that up. On our way out we noticed there was a long line outside so we must have hit the timing just right. This was Saturday brunch and we arrived around 11:45 so I'm guessing 12:15ish is not a great time to arrive. EXCELLENT FOOD, GREAT PORTIONS AND SUPER FAB SERVICE HERE!!

Yummy food

By N L |

I had the fish and grits. Loved it except for the fact that it came doused in hot sauce. I really wish I had the option of adding hot sauce myself. I ended up just eating around it but it would have been nice to enjoy the meal without the added condiment on top. Otherwise the food is amazing. I had a biscuit with this super yummy honey butter (on the side)....delish. My server was also attentive..it was a weekday so they weren't super busy.

Never go to the pie, but the biscuits are insane!

By theaztecprincess |

Everything we had was well-seasoned, everything that should be crunchy was and we loved the big squeeze bottles with hot sauce. My catfish was perfection, but those biscuits, I will be dreaming about then till I get back. Well worth the wait!

Simply the best !!!!!

By Tracey E |

We always stop to Pies& Thighs for their donuts. Excellent worth the trip considering there are donuts shops everywhere you turn in Manhattan. This place is small unassuming. A true gem among the big restaurants. A must.!!!!

Solid but nothing spectacular

By AndrewEldritch |

Not sure why this establishment has such a high ranking.. Had the chicken sandwich and the chicken and waffles, both were good but not great. The waffles were a bit dry and the chicken was fried well but bland, the food lacked flavor in general. Beer selection was decent, including a cigar city option which was nice to see. Brunch for two came to $50 before tip. All in all not nearly as good as similar establishments (especially in the south). Probably won’t return, but maybe worth a try if you’re in the neighborhood.

So good I went there twice in a week

By Eva L |

Easily the best chicken, mac n cheese and biscuits I had in the city, I regularly recommend this place to people when I hear they're visiting NYC. I wasn't overly keen on the pie I had but I think that might be because I ate too much because I ordered too much because the menu is too exciting and the chicken was too good.

A must do

By wanderlustatlgirl |

In Brooklyn and was it was recommended that we visit Pies and Thighs. Love the name. Had there infamous chicken sandwich oozing with honey, butter, and hot sauce. I also had the cheese grits. What hit home with me was the XL butter toffee nut donut. OMG it was too die for. Everytime I am in New York I will have to make me way here. It doesn't have a lot of seating so if you go on a busy day be prepared to wait but it is worth it.

The best comfort food brunch in NYC

By Jason24hr |

We came for the chicken and waffles but found so much more. First off the chicken and waffles were fantastic, the breading on the chicken was the best I've ever had. Their buttermilk biscuits with cream cheese and sour cherry jam changed my world. I've been trying to recreate it ever since we got back. And finally the pecan butter crunch donut was simply the best donut I've ever had. This place was easily one of my favorites during our trip to NYC. You have to go hear if you visit, you will not be disappointed.

These Pies n' thighs don't lie

By Sheynelle S |

I had the pies, the chicken thighs and now I cries because this was such a fantastic meal. The chicken is crispy, it's sweet and melts in your mouth. Not only is the chicken fantastic but the pies are scrumptious. I had the pecan pie but next time I want to try the banana cream. The pecan pie was perfect. If you go on the weekend, be prepared to get there very early or wait for a while. This place is popular! Go here. That's all.

One of my regular spots in BK

Perhaps one of the best diners I had the pleasure of visiting when I stayed in NY. Their menu offers delicious courses and the biscuits are just crusty and divine. I ate there with family and the entire experience was awesome. Great music, great vibe!

Great place for an American food fest

By Rosie W |

I would class this as a "nice dive" - in a good way. Venue is small, tables are small and packed in, staff are friendly. We were out in the back part, and it was pretty cold. Toilets are not great, but not awful. The menu offers a selection of traditional American foods, we had the fried chicken box (mash side), chicken sandwich, and mac n cheese. The friend chicken was perfect, the mash was tasty but really salty, the mac n cheese wasn't that good to be honest. Chicken sandwich was really good. We also had the key lime pie and the banana cream pie. Key lime pie was delicious, really limey and punchy but well balanced. Banana cream pie was not great, the bananas were brown, the custard was a bit bland and not very smooth. It was nice, but I had expected better from the "world famous" advertising. Coffee is refillable too, which is a nice diner touch. I would go back :)

Lick the plate clean

By Icequeen54 |

The food is soooo good. From the biscuits to their donut and apple pie...my favorite plates are the chicken in a biscuit with the wonderful honey and hot sauce. To their chicken I'm a basket. I can eat here everyday. Great for families, friends and couples

Disappointed

By jonik811 |

Food was cold. Over seasoned. Rushed. Get in eat and get out. Never again. Dirty and in great need of refreshing. All eateries have off days but this was more than that, it seems to have gotten a bit over confident.

Southern food in Brooklyn NY

By Dabb2 |

Who knew? I simply could not believe it. Good southern food in Brooklyn New York? But, it's true. Great food. Good service.

Best southern cooking in Brooklyn!

By Kimberly W |

From the chicken biscuits ( best buttery biscuits ever!), Mac and cheese, collard greens to homemade Apple pies ,and more pies, it was a savory delight! They have won awards for pies and doughnuts and I found out why! Great small community feel with friendly prompt service. It will be a must stop for every Brooklyn NY visit! Picture of homemade Apple pie with cheese.. yummy

Amazing chicken

By kpclarkey |

I used to be a vegetarian. This place made me so happy that I am no longer a vegetarian! It was -18 degrees Celsius and luckily no waiting line. We were out the back but there were plenty of heaters keeping us warm. We were seated and served quickly and the food was incredible! Juicy, spicy chicken, good textured biscuits and amazing deep fried pickles! I recommend this place to every friend coming to New York and they all tell me it’s the best chicken they’ve ever eaten. Unfortunately was too full to try a pie or a doughnut!

Not A Good Showing

By Jill C |

After seeing Pies-N-Thighs on Triple D, we knew we had to give it a try when we came to NY! Thankfully the food made up for the overall underwhelming visit. After being made to wait outside in 35 degree weather for over 20 minutes, we watched 2 local girls stroll in and wait right inside the door and be seated almost immediately. Once we finally got our table it was pretty obvious that the staff is not interested in tourists and caters, quite blatantly, to the locals. Luckily, my sausage gravy and biscuits were amazing and the biscuits are definitely worth the hype! The fried chicken, on the other hand, was about a step below KFC. While the meat was moist, there was no flavor and the skin pulled all the way off with the first bite. We also tried the pie and it was pretty much just ok. Considering all told we spent $75 on breakfast, even for NY prices, the staff would make a better effort at making everyone feel welcome. Perhaps this was just a bad showing because they were busy or maybe their other location is bigger and more customer friendly - here's to hoping.

Chicken fixing

This place has awesome fried chicken! The batter and whatever secret spice they put in it is delicious. The only problem with this place is that it's impossible to get a table. We always order take out. The sausage gravy is also fantastic.

Excellent pies!

Excellent pies! Best banana pie I’ve ever had. Friendly staff. The place is open for takeout during this covid lockdown.

This chicken though...

By GessL |

Oh dang. We went here today for lunch and it was amazing!! Our group had the fried chicken box, the pulled pork box, and the chicken biscuit. Everything was delicious! That fried chicken was crispy and juicy, the breading was flavorful but light and crispy. The biscuits were some how dense but light and flaky and not dry. I would love to go back again and would highly recommend it! Such friendly service as well and you can tell it's a big part of the community there. Everyone seemed to know each other and it felt like an awesome vibe.

Surprising mix of good and average in Williamsburg

By SeasonedTraveller516 |

Saw some posts saying Pies-N-Thighs was just okay & went to prove them wrong because the photos looked so delicious. And who could do this kind of food wrongly & live to see another year in NYC? But, alas, I was wrong. While this place has some great things (biscuits, donuts), it is sorely lacking the touch and expertise of a southern grandmother-type in the kitchen. My sampling was limited, but the fried chicken people rave about was lacking flavor. I mean, the amazing batter, deep fried to crunchy perfection, was bland, lacking even salt and pepper. Disappointing. The 3-piece white meat portion was actually 1.5 breasts (1/2 of a breast = one piece.) Not complaining, just noting. The collard greens had a dollop of hot sauce on top (why?) that teased initially, then left us to eat the remaining less flavorful portion with a sigh. The mac and cheese was creamy but, again, nothing special. But that huge, hot, fresh biscuit saved the day. The pecan pie was delish, but was so small (for the price) that I would have passed had I known in advance. (See pic) You definitely don't go to this small storefront on the corner for anything but the food. It is cramped, not very pleasant to the eye, and now I see why other reviewers questioned its popularity. If I were in the area I might go back, but having so many other options and knowing how good this simple comfort food could/should be makes that unlikely. Compliments go to the staff - service was above par.

Wonderful food and food service

If you like great chicken, fantastic pies. And crappy service come here. Prices are a bit high but the issue is Service that lags and lAgs. I am surprised that they do not fix it snd then it would be great.

Not worth the money nor the wait

By rappdrew1 |

Waited half an hour in the cold for take out. It was $15 for a steak and eggs that was not even that good. It seems like a popular place but I do not know why.

BEST FRIED CHICKEN

By Johnny D |

I must say that this is the BEST FRIED CHICKEN I've ever had. Didn't really like the buckwheat waffles. Biscuit was okay, but the honey butter that came with it was pretty good. Chocolate donut tasted just like cake and was good. Would definitely return for the chicken.

Best Fried Chicken in NY

What can I say? This must be the best fried chicken in NY! Loved the Pies and loved the thighs! A big 👍🏾!

Excellent food

Small but cozy place serving tasty Southern meals and decadent sweets. Had their classic chicken biscuit and a side of cheese grits. Prices are reasonable. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Great Food!

By drinkswithjames |

We visited here on a quiet midweek lunchtime, and the place is a great little spot in Williamsburg. The food is plentiful, and of great quality. Fantastic Southern-Style cooking in a relaxed but friendly atmosphere. We visited during a heatwave, so obviously it was a little hot. We sat in the back, where perhaps Air Conditioning could be considered in future to make it a little more comfortable on hot days. Other than that, it was great, and we left absolutely stuffed. The Hot Chicken Biscuit was brilliant, and if I'm ever in Williamsburg and in need of some no-nonsense, stick-to-your-ribs cooking that will leave me full for a month, I know where to go!

Best chicken Biscuit!

By janetvitolo |

Good service, delicious food! The chicken biscuit was perfectly spiced with the honey and the hot sauce .Definitely worth the trip and wait. The meal was excellent but I just wish that I had started with the pie and the doughnuts which were hot out of the oven. I definitely have to go back!

Amazing!

We were recommended this restaurant by a local. Absolutely amazing! Delicious! Staff were friendly and the food so tasty! Worth every penny!

Cool Spot with Great Food

By BlackDLDuo |

Great Food Great Menu I've only been during brunch. My friends and I love to visit here when in NYC on Sundays for the brunch menu. The food is always great, and so is the service. Quirky restaurant. The place is small and very popular for brunch. Be prepared to wait for a table for about 40mins-1 hour. There is no space to wait indoors. Definitely worth the wait.

Great pies, great thighs

By Lauren M |

I got what I think was called the fried chicken box, and my friend and I split three slices of pie. We ate everything. It was perfect. It's pretty crowded here on a Saturday night so definitely be prepared to wait for a bit before they seat you.

Excellent Fried Chicken

A great little restaurant specializing in fried chicken and desserts, the portions were generous and the chicken was fried to perfection!
