Having just got off a 10 hr flight and checked into our hotel we needed food. This restaurant is on the 5th floor of a mall. Very convenient. I had clam chowder which was great. Had the small cup and it was really filling. Husband has fried clams which he said were the best he'd ever had.

Creamy, chunky, fresh and savory! Eating the crab sandwich with butter was music to my palette. The hot clam chowder luscious and clams cooked perfect. I love the homemade potato chips with sea salt as well. The lines are not bad at this location vs the market. You can order “grab and go” as well. A definitely stop every time in Seattle.

This place located in a mall. When we came there was not so many people queuing. The order was quick. The food taste is good.

Ok, I have never been a fan of chowder but my wife loves it, so we just had to stop here. Let me tell you, I AM A FAN of Pike Place Chowder! My wife had a sampler of 4, and I found two that I just loved. The New England Clam and the Sauted Scallop Cjowders were both amazing! I would definitely go back, again and again. I had the Maine Lobstee Roll, and that was very good as well. Don't worry about a line they keep it moving. We were lined up outside this little gem, and it only took about 10 minutes to get served.

My husband and I had dinner here while in Seattle. He had the Seafood Bisque which was outstanding. I had Gulf Prawn Tacos which were filled with large shrimp, good but VERY messy to eat. Very good light dinner with seating in the mall "sidewalk" area. There is also a location near Pike Place Market.

It is in a mall and looks very unpretentious, but the food here was truly delicious. I had a crab roll that was very generous and expensive. It was worth it, though. Service was great.

We waited in the line for about 30 minutes and we thought it was worth it. We are no chowder experts but really liked it. I got the salmon and hubby got the traditional. We got mediums and that was plenty

This place is a true reason why we come to Seattle! Amazing selection of different flavors - salmon is my absolute favorite! The stuff is always nice and friendly.

There is a line when it opens, seating is limited but the chowder is great. Definitely worth the wait.

This has less wait time than the premier location in Pikes Market. I went here twice during my stay. The chowder is good. I did have the dungess crab roll for dinner one night but did not enjoy it.

Unbelievable taste in this chowder. I had the sampler and man, is it amazing. I cannot recommend the New England and Market Chowder, but the Bisque tops them all!

High quality, tasty, and served hot with bread and butter. Perfect lunch or snack here. The bowl is large, 12 ounces, so be ready for a full meal. Yummy.

My wife and I choose to eat here based on the online menu. The Captain's Platter looked good so thought we'd order that. We were told they were out of clams, we substituted extra shrimp. As we are eating, we notice the absence of oysters. I informed the server of this. Her response was, "Oh, we're out of oysters as well." To add to our disappointment the "Plate" was $4 more than what the online menu listed. Not a good experience. Guess we should have ordered chowder.

We avoided the huge queue at Pike Place and came to this location instead Helpful staff let us try a couple of chowders before ordering There was sitting room- and in a very upmarket mall (as we walked in past Tiffany's we thought we might have the wrong mall) And the chowders were really good and pretty good value

Got an order of sampler so could compare 4 different chowders. One of chowders was so salty, I did not enjoy it. 3 others were very tasty and flavorful. The line to get in was so long but moved quick enough the parking meter did not expire to my relief.

My wife and I stopped by the smaller store in the mall to avoid the long lines at the market place location. Although they didn't have as many of the choices as the larger location, the flight sampler was available and gave us 4 different chowders that we tried - and we enjoyed all of them. Our favorite was the seafood bisque and the smoked salmon chowder.

Stopped by for a quick bite during a conference. The seafood bisque was lacking in seafood - it was basically chopped tomatoes in a creamy broth. The salmon on the sandwich was dry and overcooked. Maybe other locations are better - I would not recommend this one at the mall.

A must stop/try when in Seattle Worth the wait. Value for money. Hearthy and filling food. Soo delicious!

I went back 3 times for lunch and had the chowder each time! It's a great downtown location near some wonderful shopping.

This branch is less crowded and the staff were super friendly. We got the New England clam chowder and maine lobster roll - both tasted awesome but a little pricey for the small portion. Still worth a try!

Has a long line up usually and does not go through as quickly as I would it like (so, make sure you are well hydrated and have a snack with you if you are hungry), but definitely worth the wait!!! BEST clam chowder! Also had other chowders and they were all great. Lovely service, very friendly people. Must visit if you are visiting Seattle/Pike Market.

We were recommended to come here by our hotel. After a long flight it was exactly what we needed. Excellent food quality, the clam strips were very good and my wife’s chowder was really good. Portions are a good size. We definitely want to go back.

I went to Pike Place Chowder inside Pacific Place mall for a quick bite. There was a long and poorly organised queue at the entrance. It took a while to figure out where the queue was starting. I ordered a Captain's Platter. Due to the high volume of customers I had to wait more than 10 minutes to get my food. The fried fish in the Captain's Platter was overcooked to a point where it was very tough to cut and eat. Even the fries were stiff. Personally I did not like the experience and I'd not visit this place again in the future.

I dreaded the queue, but it went really quick. I ordered the 4 sampler, and it was amazing, especially on a cold day.

My only regret is that we didn’t make it back before we left. PPC is perfect if you’re like me and want to try everything on the menu. They offer options to get sample size portions of any chowder you’d like to try and if memory serves me correctly you can also get half sized rolls (lobster, shrimp, etc.). My 2 favorite chowders of the day were easily the classic New England Clam Chowder & the Seafood Bisque... with the Smoked Salmon Chowder coming in with an honorable mention. If you’re thinking about visiting, STOP and just do it, I guarantee you won’t regret it. I know that next time I’min the same zip code as PPC I’ll be stopping by for a bowl and taking as much home with me as I can.

We tried the sampler and enjoyed every one! The line is extremely long though it moves fairly quickly. It is a must do while in Seattle. We decided to go back about 3 pm to eat a very early dinner so we shared the 6 samples which was plenty for 2 people.

The food is amazing! My husband arrived to the restaurant 30 minutes before they opened on accident. The line began to build up about 15 minutes before opening. We didn't realize how quickly the line would grow, but it does move fast. After getting our food, we understand why the line was so long. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices. We splurged since we knew this would be our only time visiting this restaurant. We tasted all of the chowders and the crab and lobster rolls. It was all sooooo good. I don't like clam chowder and I ate two bowls of it. Definitely must when visiting Pikes Market.

Small place running on hype value. I think some of the other local places are better. I would not queue up for it.

This place is in a shopping mall and is less crowded than the one in the Market. Recommended for those who don't want to spend a long time waiting in a line. There are more seatings here than the Market location as well. But they do not have Market Chowder at this place as well as the other "Market only" menus, so if you want those you should visit the Market location. The chowder I had was good but this male staff was very rude for no reason and obviously did not want to be there at all. It kinda ruined the whole experience. The place was almost empty so maybe he's the reason why?

We stopped for a quick dinner at the Pacific Place location. We ordered clam chowder, seafood bisque, and a fried oysters basket. The chowder was thick and creamy, with nice pieces of clam. The bisque was tasty as well. Both were well seasoned and served hot. The fried oysters were of average. Crispy and not oily. Written on the menu board is the claim that the chowders are the "best in the nation". I've had chowder at Mass, Rhode Island, and Connecticut to name a few places and I can't say for sure if Pike Place Chowder is the best. Definitely hit this location up if you don't feel like tackling the long lines at the Post Alley location. It's good, tasty chowder.

Visiting Seattle decided to eat at the famous local clam chowder joint. Unfortunately we were kinda late and place was already closing down but we were advised that there is an additional location at the mall nearby. Place is very crowded, but I can see why... food was delicious. Both New England clam chowder and seafood bisque were very tasty, so as wild salmon fish and chips. Staff is very friendly, food comes out quick.

The chowder here is rivaled at the best chowder I’ve ever had (the other is the market grill in Pike Place Market). It is very buttery (a positive) and is less chunky than the Market Grill. The line is longer, but it’s the fastest moving line ever. If you’re looking for more authentic or homemade chowder with less of a line the market grill is your place.

The fish pieces soaked up a ton of oil which kept dripping each time I picked up a piece. Both pieces were also under cooked leaving raw batter on the inside. Chips were too salty. Normally I would ask for a replacement plate but the taste was so substandard I just threw away 3/4 of the plate. If you want some great NW style fish & chips in downtown, you have to go to Ivars.

Hard to find in an alley just up from PIKE's place , but worth the effort. Be prepared to wait about 15 to 20 minutes in a line, and then struggle for a table

My wife and I shared the sampler. It was a great choice since it was more than enough food and we got to try all of the types. Everything was great!

We did happy hour here. Rainier beer was $2.50 a pint. We stayed and had chowder for supper. We have eaten chowder on both the east and west coast and this is the best of all!

I lived in New England for most of my life and had eaten clam chowder and fish and chips voten, in fact I still do when I go home to visit. So, I had to try the Seattle version of Manhattan chowder. It was definitely spicier than I was used yo, but lots of clams. I was early enough yo enjoy the smaller portion size of fish and chips. The fish was do good, I should have opted for the two piece, but wouldn't have Ben able to eat it all.. Seating ess a challenge.

As I walked by the Pike Place Chowder cafe/ restaurant my attention was attracted by their menu board, but more importantly the WONDERFULLY delicious smell of their chowder! I ordered a 16 oz. container of their New England Clam Chowder and sat down and enjoyed an amazingly fragrant, rich bowl of chowder that was FULL of clams. I immediately wished I had gotten a larger container! I would recommend this to all you chowder-lovers out there!!!!!

Hot chowders on cold days, who'da thunk that would be a hit? Right, it's just a swell place, both locations, where they've made the world champion New England Clam Chowder five years in a row. Yep. Just do it. But what is it with sourdough bread around here? I don't need that, just gimme the chowder, a half lobster roll or a plate of really plump oysters, thanks. It's great.

We stopped at Pike Place Market for Starbucks and while we were there we found this chowder place. Love chowder, had to stop. We had the gluten free chowders. Manhattan and Lime Coconut, they were both delicious.

As usual, I found a fabulous restaurant using TA. I also followed the advice to visit the 2nd of 2 Pike Place Chowder Restaurants at 600 Pine Street on the 4th Floor of the Pacific Place building. This Hall-of Fame Chowder will not disappoint your palate. I liked the local favorite "Bisque Chowder." Enjoy your meal!

I had the New England clam chowder and was pleased with it. Lots of clams included in the chowder. Friendly and efficient service.

On my last visit to Seattle, I ate at the Pike Place Market location and enjoyed the chowder so much I went back this time. Unfortunately, I got there shortly after it closed. The next night, we found this location closer to our hotel, and stopped in for some clam chowder, which was just as good as I had remembered. There are plenty of other options on the menu if you’re not into chowder. Good food, quick service, and reasonable prices.

This place is open 10a-5p. Seating is offered inside/outside. Person regulates the growing line that can stretch down Pine St. Had the NE clam chowda which was thick, flavorful, with chunks of clams, and a clam nectar taste. Small to large or quart size or served in a sourdough bowl are the offerings. The walls of the restaurant are dotted with the restaurant's numerous awards. As a native New Englander, they have truly earned those accolades! The Captain's roll, either half or whole roll, is a delectable seafood combo of Bay Shrimp and Dungeness crab served on a NE style hot dog bun(opened on the top) and toasted. Please, PLEASE don't miss eating here. The only thing better is eating this food on a New England day and watching America's Most Beloved Baseball team, the RED SOX.

This location is in the food court of Pacific Place. Lines are very short especially compared to the insane lines at the Pike Street Market location. Lobster roll was very good.

We stopped in for a quick bite to eat without the massive line that was at their original location in the market. It was a bit of a walk but well worth it. The chowder was fantastic! My daughter had the fish and chips which she really liked. All good!

After reading so many good reviews and hearing great comments from other people, we visited this place one evening. This location in the mall didn't have a queue and there was a small amount of seating available too! I got a combo, with the half lobster roll and New England clam chowder. I was warned that the roll would only be 3 inches, but I was fine with this. It also included a refillable soda. On reflection, I wouldn't have bothered with the lobster roll, not because it wasn't good, but it wasn't particularly cheap (although there was a very good amount of lobster in it), and also because the chowder was definitely the best option (as many other people have said). Full of clams and so tasty! My husband had the fish and chips and he enjoyed that too.

We went to the most famous clam chiowder soup in Pikes market . First we waited in line for 30 minutes and you cannot save a table you have to buy their soup before you can sit. My boyfriend ordered the clam chowder and lobster roll and I ordered the salmon chowder . We both were soo dissappointed both soup were watery and the sandwich was tasteless. We don’t understand how they got a great review we felt deceived, the day before we got a clam chowder across from them and it’s better than the pike chowder. Don’t waste your time falling in line it was not worth it and the worse part it was expensive for 2 soup and a lobster sandwich with 1 coke it cost both of us $66.00. We don’t mind paying if it’s good.

Have been told that in the pike place market there's a shop that sells really good chowder. The queue was pretty long, I went there and took me 20 mins until I get to the cashier to order. The three of us decided to share 3 different types of chowder: new England chowder, crab and oyster chowder and seared scallop chowder. Although each had its own charm I must say my favorite was the classic new England chowder. Each chowder is accompanied with a packet of oyster biscuits. The seared scallop chowder was least liked because it's not as fulfilling as the other two which had potatoes and chorizo in the soup. The new England chowder was very creamy and was very fulfilling in all aspects. I think I really enjoyed the place despite there wasn't enough seats and you kind of had to be in a rush to finish everything.

My son was acting up and did not want to eat out, so since we were away and wanted to taste some local food, I went to pick up food here. The NE clam chowder was definitely among the best I have had. Creamy, not too thick, tender clams seasoned well. We got the Captain's Platter as well. The oysters were so tender. The cod was delicious. We were happy with the platter overall. I also got the Mac and cheese which was prepared fresh as I watched. I will definitely get more food here. In the mall where it was located, it was the only crowded food establishment.

Visiting for the holiday. Heard it was good, took some to go. Seafood bisque and New England Clam chowder were delish! I want to take some home by the gallon(s)!

It's totally worth the decadence! We only had the New England Clam Chowder, so can't vouch for anything else. But why would you want anything else? The atmosphere is just (chic) shopping mall.

Located on the 4th floor of the Pacific Mall / Center near the Westlake light rail station, this location is cross free. Avoid the lines of Pike Place Market and eat here. The chowder is the same. We got the sampler to try the 4 they sell. It comes with sourdough and it was perfect.

Yes this chowder (and other menu offerings) completely live up to the hype and are worth every penny, every moment waiting. It is fantastic and far better than Ivar's, Anthony's, or any of the others. Save yourself the ridiculous wait in line at the Pike Place location, and stop by this location in Pacific Place mall which is the exact same food but none of the lines or crowds, and plenty of space to sit.

We were just looking for something to eat, nothing fancy, and were browsing in this mall when we saw this place. (BTW, the mall is pretty boring, IMO) So decided to give it a try. We had the regular (New England) chowder. It was a little on the spendy side, but pretty good.

So I'm not really a chowder fan...but Pike Place Chowder changed that.I had the lobster roll and the seafood bisque. Both were delicious and very filling.

Been to Pike Place chowder several times and it never ceases to amaze me how people will stand in line in the hot sun with limited seating in order to sample the wares. I wouldn't. That said, if you're in Seattle any time other than the crowded, touristy, cruise shippy horror show of the mid-summer, stop by Pike Place chowder for a great treat. Their specials, including scallop chowder, are amazing, as they always use the same base broths that made the place famous. Mid January is a perfect time to wander in, grab a bowl and sit outside in the relative quiet of off season Pike Place Market.

Pike Place Chowder may be the only reason to visit the mall If you’re in the area, a bowl of their chowder is a great small meal.

Oh yes, the chowder is as delicious as indicated by the HUGE number of awards it has won! New England Clam Chowder was the best!

This location of Pike Place Chowder is on the 4th floor of the Pacific Place Mall (just a few blocks up from the Pike Place Alley location) and there is NO line here!! But you still get the same good options. We chose the Chowder Sampler -- 4 different chowders (white clam, red clam, salmon chowder, and seafood chowder). Comes with oyster crackers and sourdough garlic bread. All 4 were well prepared and tasty, but our favorite was still the creamy white clam chowder. But fun to try all. The lobster rolls and crab rolls looked yummy, but they are quite pricey. Still, may have to give them a go before we leave town. There is a small area outside this restaurant to sit and eat, but no ambiance whatsoever. And the mall is pretty dead in most ways. Still, we much preferred to come here for our take out chowders vs standing in the block-long line at Pike Place Ally.

Our first stop in Seattle was Pike Chowder. They have a good selection of various types of chowders. We bought the sampler which gives you four different chowders from the menu along with the famous crusty sourdough. The Salmon Chowder was the best. We also got the Chowder bread bowel with the seafood Chowder it was so good. We waited in line no more then ten minutes.

We avoided the crowds of the Public Market and went to this location in the Pacific Place mall. No long queue and the same food. The New England chowder was very good though the Dungeness crab roll was a little lacking in taste. Not sure how it gets rated at number 6 in Seattle but as a fast food chowder, it's fine.

This location is in the mall. Not the same atmosphere as Pike Market Place but same chowder. They do sell beer at this location as well. It was not crowded and I was able to enjoy one last chowder fix before I left Seattle.

Walking around the Pike Place Market area, we came across a very long line. It turned out to be the line for Pike Place Chowder. Since we love chowder, and have eaten it all along the east coast, we decided to get in line and check it out. It was worth every minute of the wait! My husband and I had the seafood bisque and our daughter, a vegetarian, had the vegan lime and coconut chowder. Seating is very limited but we were able to grab a table outside and enjoy the beautiful weather while eating some of the best chowder we ever had.

The line makes it seem intimidating but it moves fast. Believe the hype. We opted fr lobster rolls instead of chowder since it was summer, and both the Maine style and Connecticut style were excellent. The staff was helpful and we chose to take our food close by to sit and east instead of wait for one of the tables to open.

Great service and menu. Food wasn’t bad for the west coast and making New England Chowder. The bisque was delicious and the lobster roll wasn’t too bad. Good enough to satisfy a craving. Not sure where the lobsters come from. Overall pretty good and I’ll be back.

Was stopping in Seattle for a couple days of rest prior to beginning our vacation. was looking for great place to take my wife for lunch. She loves chowder so I found Pikes place chowder during a search before we left. so we went downtown after our arrival and was looking for Pikes place chowder. kept getting off track not knowing therre were two locations. so finally we found the location at Pacific place ( good thing for google maps) located on the 5th floor. Lucky for us we got there just before the lunch crowd. this place was packed shortly after we arrived. Chowder, sandwiches all excellent. Staff very friendly and helpfull in ordering. , a little pricey for me but I would do it again. now I know why they have won awards listed on their website. If you can't find it ask for directions to this place and you will be glad you did.

Great chowder, fast service. The roll was oK but a little watery. Four different chowders in several serve sizes and meal combinations. Seats at counters turned over faster than the tables.

This place has good chowder and lots of varieties. I have a shellfish allergy so I got the salmon chowder. It was delicious. The rest of my group tried the others and liked everything. The lines are insanely long. We went into the market and ordered "to go" on the app. You pick it up at the window and go outside to eat! Our food was ready immediately with a few minutes wait! We ordered the lunch special which was a bowl of chowder, an apple, some bread, and a bottle of water. It was something like $8.00- and definitely worth it.

Good chowder (or bisque in my case) to warm up on a cold night. I thought the bread could have been better but still this hit the spot and was very satisfying.

The variety of chowder is great and the prices are reasonable. A medium for adults (12 oz) is just the right size. Expect long lines on weekends but they do move fast. Definitely a return visit for us.

on one of our days at market, we waited in line for 25 minutes to get Pike place Chowder. And it was well worth it, we had tried over the weekend and that was crazy so we are glad we went back during the week, it was awesome!!!!

A friend and I stopped here last week. I had the seafood bisque and the fish and chips. The bisque had very little seafood in it and everything I got was loaded in salt. The fries were not edible. My friend got the clam chowder and said it was really salty too. We had heard good things about this place, so we were really disappointed.

We tried going to Pike Place Chowder on Post Alley after shopping at Pike Place Market last fall. We wanted to try their chowder but the line to order was so long & we could see we'd have a difficult time finding seats. So we headed up Pine Street to the other Pike Place Chowder outlet located in Pacific Place. We found it on the fourth floor with just a short line & lots of open seats. They had a number of different chowders, sandwiches & rolls to choose from & their menu differed slightly from the market location, with some items added & some missing. We ordered a captain's half-roll, original Dungeness crab half-roll, New England clam chowders & fries. Our orders were prepared quickly so we sat to eat overlooking the center court. The chowder was great - creamy, not too thick but not too thin & seasoned just right. The seafood rolls were delicious. While we were tempted to try their chowder in their bread bowl, we ate light because we planned to walk back to our hotel downtown near the central library. Maybe we'll try one next time we visit Seattle.

Chowder was very good.Thick and full of clams and potatoes. Lines began around 11:00. Worth the wait. Not right on the Main Street of Pike Market so look for it.

In town for some meetings and needed a place to eat lunch quickly. I don't eat seafood, but my co workers wanted some fish tacos so we settled on Pike Place Chowder. I ordered the Chicken Corn Chowder and green salad. The Chowder was delicious, but the salad something to pass on. It's just lettuce with a little bit tomatoes and cucumbers. Not worth the money. While it was a good place for the Chowder, I'd most likely not go back due to the service.

The line starts to form before they open, but it moves decently quick. You can also place an order online and pick up at their "to go" window nearby, which seems like a great idea and what we would do next time. The chowder is fantastic and the sampler makes it easy to try a few different chowders. Lobster roll was also delicious. Great place to get some fresh Seattle chowder!

We love clam chowder and in our hotel every tour and guide brochure recommended this place. Not fancy. Chowder and lots of it. It was by far one of the best clam chowders I have eaten and I have had them everywhere from Boston to Seattle. They have several other chowders as well and there is a sampler offering on the menu that gives you a sample of each. The have some great rolls as well stuffed with seafood etc. Nothing fancy. Great for a bowl of super chowder on your walk through the Public Market.

You wouldn't expect to find this in a mall but it really is good chowder and a upgrade to the typical venues in shopping malls. They don't have a lot of seating but generally tables turned over quickly as most seemed to be in for a quick pit stop. They had a nice variety and even a four chowder sampler to share amongst two people, though didn't try on this trip.

Seldom do I give 5 stars, but this place is worth it. Worth the long wait, the crowds in Pike Place Market, the price, the lack of seating! Everything!!! I had the seafood chowder, and it was simply Devine. Seldom do I go back to a place when I am only here for a few days, but I will be back. Don’t past go, just go!

We tried going to the one by the market, but the line was ridiculously long. We saw this one was located only one block from our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. We tried the chowder sampler and clam strips. Both were ok, but I'm sure glad I didn't stand In line at the market location. The clam chowder tasted like any other chowder. I wouldn't go out of my way for it. This location will be much faster than the one by the market

Stopped into Pike Place Chowder for a quick dinner while on our way back to our hotel after a long days walking the tourist spots of Seattle... What a great decision too. The chowder and light meals were really good, so good in fact we decided to go back and do it all again a couple of days later. And it won't break the bank either... This is not a fancy place but the food is good.

As a native New Englander, I know chowder. Since Pike Place won first place at the Westport CT Chowdafest (right down the road from me), I had to try this. Not bad, but I have to say I've had tastier seafood chowder at little roadside diners in Midcoast Maine. Also, the mall ambiance and unprofessional behavior of the staff at this branch destroyed my appetite.

My husband & I were in Seattle for a 24 hour pass and were told that we had to go to Pike Place Chowder by a friend back home. We were definitely pointed in the right direction! There was a long line wrapped around the building and were told by a staff member that if we just want soup, we could order it off the app and pick it up at the window and skip the line. We did just that and ordered the New England Clam Chowder (yes we ordered NE clam chowder in Seattle) and it was the best NE Clam Chowder I have ever had in my life. It was flavorful but not rich like you'd get a stomach ache from too much better. It was more fresh than heavy. It also came with a delicious biscuit that I made myself savor rather than devour in 30 seconds. Also, they actually ship the chowder across the states so I'm going to look into this for a b-day present for my husband because I know he would like it and also get one for myself, because there is no way he is sharing!

This location inside is far less crowded than the location actually in Pike Place market, but has the exact same chowder. The chowder is good, although it is not my personal favorite, I can easily see why it is rated so highly. I love that the potatoes in the chowder are cut into small pieces and don't make up the majority of each spoonful like you find in inferior chowders. The clams have a great flavor as well. I also had a Connecticut style lobster roll, which was good, but lacked as much butter as I would have liked. Worth checking out and trying some chowder.

If you want the creamiest chowder, you can’t beat this place. Lacks atmosphere being in a food court, but the chowder is delicious Bit disappointed in the sourdough bread, maybe it was the end of the day and past it’s freshness

Some of the best chowder around in Downtown Seattle without going down to the pier. I got the bread bowl and it was excellent!

This is in such a great place for people staying downtown for conferences in Seattle! I actually went twice during the week I was there for a convention and was impressed both times. Food was cooked well and incredibly filling. The chowder over fries is a must-order. The staff was kind and provided quick service, especially at lunch when I and others were on a break.

They advertise as the best chowder in the country. It was good, but probably not that good. Their New England clam chowder had a rich clam flavor, but the potatoes were on the mushy side and it was a bit too salty for my taste. The lobster roll was better. Overall, the combo satisfied my craving, but I've had better (on the East Coast).

Visiting Seattle and apparently had to come here. Glad I did! This place is amazing! Market Clam Chowder: I don't eat bacon so I got lucky the special didn't have any. The flavor is amazing. It's rich and fresh - 9.8/10 Captain's Roll: Tasty roll with crab and shrimp - 9/10 Definitely recommend both. Overall: 9.5/10 Follow me on IG for all the food @ahmadeats

We kept watching the line grow each tome we walked by the restaurant. We decided to get there early 11:10 (the place opens at 11am) and there was already the line. After roughly 20 mins we had our chowder. It was the best chowder we have ever had, so yes the line is worth it. Or you can order ahead and skip the line (the pick up it’s just around the corner). But try it out! Also it’s on grub hub!

If you want to skip the crazy line at Pike Place Chowder at Pike Place, just come to this location. Sure, it's the in a mall, but you'll have much easier access to the delicious chowder that this company has to offer. The New England chowder is pretty rich, so a small is perfect unless you really want to go all out; and the Manhattan chowder is packed with savory flavor with an abundant amount of clams - the way clam chowder is supposed to be like!

You stand in line for a while to order but it was amazing and well worth the wait! We shared the sampler because we wanted to try it all. Obviously the clam chowder was the best one but the seafood bisque was a close second! So good and totally understand why they have so many awards

Whenever we visit Pike public market we tried to make an effort to have their chowder. I always pick the NE style which is creamy white but they also serve about another 4-5 different style including seafood, smoked salmon , Manhattan, Chicken & corn. The other new addition is make to order lobster roll and Dungeness crab roll ( all market price) Prepare to wait for 30-45 minutes on line during the summer months

We love this place in the mall. The price is high for mall food, really high. But the quality of the food is close to what you'd get a quality fine restaurant. We love the clam chowder, the seafood bisque, and the fish and fries. Costs around $30, so it's about $10 too high in my opinion. In saying that, we keep going back when we are visiting Seattle, as it tastes so good.

Heard about this place from reviews, and always saw the queues in Pike Place Market, and noticed this outlet at the top of Pacific Place mall, which looked reasonably busy, but with no queues, decided on a quick lunch. We decided to get a clam chowder, half a crab roll, half a lobster roll, and the fried clam strips to get a good selection of the food on offer. The chowder was indeed thick, creamy and tasty loaded with clams, and it did stand out from the 5 or 6 chowders we tasted in Seattle. The clam strips were fine, though maybe a touch over battered, which overwhelmed the taste of the clams. Both lobster and crab rolls were a disaster. There was no discernible taste of any shellfish, and all you got was a very watery wet mess, soaking a bun. Where was the sweet shellfish taste, with a fresh crispy texture? I know you get the different styles of lobster roll, but the shellfish itself was just poor, no matter whether you cover it it mayo, celery salt, butter, etc. Surely in a seafood town like Seattle they weren't going with badly thawed frozen shellfish, cos that's what it tasted like! We had previously come in from Vegas, where we were really happy with Luke's lobster roll, and even Lobster ME rolls were fine. Better seafood in a dessert over where they land Alaska's freshest catch? C'mon. Hopefully this was just at the outlet and not the main store, so go with the chowder, but stay away from the rolls.

Excellent new England clam chowder and seafood bisque. Very casual restaurant but excellent food! Staff was friendly and patient!

This place is my “must go”, every time when I visit Seattle. The chowder is great, and I really love the Seafood Bisque. It perfectly combines two of my favourite soup, Seafood Chowder and Creamy Tomato soup. Very yummy.

I came here the other day for lunch. I never knew they had another location, outside of Pike Place and while this one wasn't as touristy, it was still busy for a weekday. There were maybe 4 people in line when I got there and all the tables were full so I got my meal to-go. I got a small bowl of the pike place chowder and the two cod fish tacos. Those two items combined made a nice filling lunch without being stuffed at the end of it. I loved the flavor of the tacos and the chowder was, of course, spectacular. I will be going back for lunch, especially knowing that the chilly fall season is around the corner.

Not impressed and overpriced. The lobster roll was soooo small. The soup was okay. I was expecting more for spending over $20 for a 4-inch roll (I’m being generous).

My wife and I went to try out this famous chowder house and they've definitely earned their accolades. Just go and try the different chowders and enjoy!!!

Saw this in the mall and since you can't get near the one in Pike Market decided to give it a try. Mistake. Staff seemed as if they didn't want to be there in any way, shape or form. I felt as if I ws bothering them to actually do their job. You order at the counter and wait for your food. I had the mac and cheese which was okay but not worth the attitude to get it

I think the New England clam chowder was great. The prawn po boy was great. I will have to try something else next time.

I'm always skeptical of winners of contests but this one is the real deal. A great small company that hit the lottery and still keeps the quality high. If you like chowder go here

My wife and I stopped here for lunch and had a very pleasant experience. We both ordered the 12 oz chowder option. She had the seafood bisque and I had the regular clam chowder. Both were delicious! We were glad we stopped here because the service was very quick - much faster than a line we saw at the market place location another day. Just realize this is on the fourth floor of a shopping plaza. Ask directions because an app won't reveal this information. This is a great stop.

Despite this eatery looks very simple and resembles fast food restaurant, they serve excellent food. The classy chowder is the best I have ever eaten, the prices are friendly. As far as I understood, this place is definitely beloved by both locals and tourists. Do not miss it!

Clams were cooked perfectly and delicious. Service was excellent. Food was prepared fast but still fresh.

Best chowder I have ever had! Don’t miss out on this place if you are at Pike’s Place Market. We got the sampler - all were delicious, the bisque was my husband’s favorite and mine was the lime & coconut. We also got a lobster roll, but the chowder was definitely the highlight! I highly recommend a visit!

Some of the best restaurant New England clam chowder. They have a selection of four different chowders. Also, authentic lobster rolls which my son had. A NE clam chowder bowl was my choice. The atmosphere is that of a fast food restaurant though.

This place may serve good chowder. Their sandwiches are terrible, though. They are the tiniest sandwiches I have ever seen, and expensive ones at that. There was a little bit of seafood in mine, but mostly it was a mayonnaise based sauce. The plate was 2/3 full of stale potato chips. This was not a good experience. Eat at the Thai restaurant next door instead.

Went for lunch during the week. Fast service. I think I was expecting too much due to the hype. It was good chowder, but nothing amazing. I am a big fan of soup and chowder so I was looking forward to this. I would not go out of my way to get it again, but I also would be fine having it again. Glad I did not go to the one in Pike Place Market and wait in line. If you would like to try this place and you are near this mall location, opt for this location. I had no wait at all.

We stayed overnight in Seattle as we traveled to Alaska to board our cruise. We were looking for clam chowder bc we love it and the weather called for it even if it was June. So we pulled up TripAdvisor and found Pike Place Chowder was only a nice walk from our hotel with lots of positive reviews. Search mode ended and we took off for Pike Place. The only problem we encountered were the number of dishes we wanted in addition to clam chowder. So we overdid it and got way too much food for 2 people but we enjoyed it all. Lobster chowder, clam chowder, were our favorites but there wasn't a mistake on the whole menu. We would love to go back but get to Seattle rather seldom from Texas. That's our loss, this place would become a regular haunt if we were close.

We got there before 11 and got in line. Once it opened the line moved fast. I got the New England clam chowder and hubby got the Market chowder. It was good but to be totally honest, we have had better. nice and thick and creamy. Decent price and good serving. Just not the best I have ever had as someone who lives on the east coast.

My family decided to try Pike Place Chowder for the first time. We went to the mall to avoid the lineups at their main store. However, even late afternoon, there was a lineup. There is also limited seating, people are standing around waiting for others to leave. It's a bit crazy, every family has to fend for themselves. If you have been waiting for a while, but you are unlucky to be far from a table that is leaving - too bad. While lining up and observing the workers, it almost felt like we were paying for an assembly line type of situation. The New England chowder was good, it had a good amount of clams. The chowder was a bit on the heavy side, perhaps our soup was close to the bottom of the barrel so to speak. I was dreaming of recreating the Oyster PoBoy experience that I had in New Orleans many years ago. However, the fried oysters were OK; however, they could have used a nicer type of bread. The lettuce that came with the bun was just that - lettuce with no dressing. Our thought is that $19 for an 8oz soup and sandwich, eating out of paper cups and plates and having to fight for a table in a mall, it's sort of a "been there, done that" kind of experience.

Tried the mall location as it was close to our hotel. We managed to find a table and ordering chowder only means there is no wait. Enjoyed both the New England and seafood bisque as well as the bread that comes with. Unfortunately the setting with the mall under construction is not ideal.

This restaurant was recommended for there clam chowder and also I saw it on the travel channel. The original clam chowder was full of clam meat and full of flavor with bites of bacon along with some tasty herbs. Also came with warm piece of sourdough bread to sop up the chowder with so the bowl was totally empty. The cashier was very friendly and quick with getting our order together and ready. I’ll be back for this great Nee England Clam Chowder.

My adult daughter and I visited on a Saturday afternoon at about 3 PM. Service was very good and we were able to get our order pretty quickly. We ordered the chowder sampler and shared it. We both agreed on the order of our favorites here they are: seafood bisque soooo good, chicken corn chowder really good, New England clam chowder good but not the best we’ve ever had, Manhattan clam chowder also good but we liked the New England more. Next trip we will go straight for the seafood bisque. I think the price was reasonable and we had a great late lunch

We love Clam Chowder so this place is on top of our list when we visited Seattle. We got to Pike Place at 10:30am on Saturday and there was already a long, REALLY long line. The store is tiny and opens at 11am, we had to wait roughly an hour. There are variety (6-8) of chowder on the menu, there’s a sampler of 5 or 8 if you want to try everything. We ordered the classic New England Clam Chowder, Scallops Chowder, and lobster roll. The lobster roll did not impressed us, it was okay and there wasn’t a lot of lobster meat. However, the chowders tasted very delicious. I love the fresh chunky seafood and the taste is just right. The Scallop chowder is now my favorite! I will come again if there isn’t a line that long.

Pike Place Chowder is more than just chowder. At the Mall location, we had a Dungeness crab roll with our chowder. As others have said, best clam chowder anywhere. The crab roll was exceptional as well.

We found this a few years ago on our last visit. It is in the Pacific Place shopping center, now being remodeled. But this still survives on the top floor - still with great food. I just love their chowder, and still wish it was down the street from our house! I ate here three days on a five day visit. Mostly just cups of chowder with bread, but also a couple sandwiches. Absolutely the creamiest chowder I've ever had.

This is inside a mall away from all the crowds of the original but just with the same great chowder! A little on the pricey side but worth a try.

This place is inside a mall on the top floor food court. It doesn't look like much. But the food is absolutely delicious, served hot, fresh and quickly. I had fish and chips, my partner had Gulf prawns, and both dishes were scrumptious. Prices are perfectly reasonable. Definitely a great place to eat if you're in the Pike/Pine vicinity of Seattle.

$34 for a 6 inch sandwich with 1/4 lb. of crab meat. Seriously. Tastes good, but way overpriced. The chowder better priced. Overall it was OK, but the kind of place you probably only visit once.

I really enjoyed the seafood bisque at Pike Place Chowder. It was full of seafood. I highly recommend it!

Great Dungeness crab roll with chowder. Clean , simple, cafe style. Popular place. Short queue. Worth a visit

Traveling from New Jersey, we've had red and white clam chowders from both coasts - including Boudins in San Francisco and several New England eateries. Pike's chowder is creamy and loaded with clams and crisp (not soggy) potatoes and ingredients. I'd rank it a decent tie with the the others, as this is certainly an outstanding entry. My wife and I both had a serving of chowder and shared a great cod fish taco over two Dad's root beers. The mall location at the Pacific Place center is by far the easiest location to be served and of course is climate controlled; in the afternoon we wandered down to the Market Place only to see a long line of hot sweaty patrons extending down an alleyway to the 1530 Post Alley restaurant.

my clam chowder was among the best i have eaten. $8:95 for 12 oz is a great deal! the crab sandwich combo was good but i think overpriced.

A group of us went for dinner at Pacific Place Center location ordered and served quickly and found the right table for 6. Excellent food and plenty to eat at a reasonable price. The good news is that we did not have to wait in the endless line at Post Alley location. I'll be back and take others w/me.

We went to the downtown mall cafe which shares most of the menu from the original restaurant apparently. Our clam chowder was excellent, loved it. Good price, good staff.

We visited this location with my family. Very impressed that they had happy hours menu... a bit pricey but yummy chowder and one of the best . Worth to try this if you are in Seattle. I made my kids eat clam chowder for the first time despite they don't like to try new things.

Simply excellent. New England clam chowder bread bowl. Le Magnifiqué. Clean area, food service, family oriented. Will comeback any time

New England Clam Chowder Bread Bowl for the win!!! Also had the fried calamari which was excellent. I definitely want to come back and try their other chowders and meals. 10 out of 10.

Review is for the Pike Place Chowder at Pacific Place Decided to come to the branch at Pacific Place instead of the market outlet because - there isn’t a queue - happy hour special prices from 4-7pm (eg $5.95 for clam chowder instead of $8.95; $2 for a can of Rainier beer) The New England clam chowder didn’t disappoint! It was rich and very tasty. I’m also extremely glad I didnt have to queue. Also had 1 piece cod fish and chips @ $6.95 which was very decent! Friendly and warm service.

If it's chowder of fresh fish here is a good place to stop by and enjoy the locally sourced foods. There isn't a lot of seating, I saw a lot of people taking their food to go, perhaps back to their offices.

This location is inside a mall and few tables, but it could be a perfect take out for hotel room dining. The clam chowder is amazing and the fish and chips have a perfectly crispy batter and cooked to perfection. Great friendly staff!!!

Small restaurant in an ally across from Pike street. If you don't want to wait in a long line for soup, you can order online/phone and pick up at a space just behind the restaurant inside a mall like area, takes like 5 mins and can be very confusing. I picked mine up and went across the street to a little area on the water with benches and lots of people eating outside. Highly recommend

As this nite was a bit chilly we opted to have some chowder for dinner, we read this place won an award for the best chowder the other year. We had the chowder in the bread bowl, the chowder was very good but, the bread bowl was on the dry side, if you decide to go here just order the chowder in regular bowl.

This location at Pacific Place has a good selection of seafood items on the menu. The fried clams and seasoned fries were good, and the portion generous. It's also a great restaurant choice for battered fish and chips.

Had the clam chowder in a bread bowl. Delicious and very filling. Sourdough bread was a tiny bit stale, but still tasted good.

Just amazing. My favorite spot in Pike Place. Get the sampler for maximum tastiness. I’m never disappointed!

Excellent fish and chips. Pacific cod. Others in group had clam chowder and they reported it was very good. Service is stand up to order

Pike Place Chowder clearly has its mission, to serve the best possible chowder (and it is) to the largest number of people possible given a very limited spatial footprint. You stand in line to get it (it’s very organized), and while you stand in line you can review the menu. You order, and in under a minute you have your meal on a tray. The meal will usually be one of their chowders and may involve a sandwich. Then you take your tray and look for a seat. Finding that seat may be a challenge! In terms of the cuisine, it’s amazing chowder. The Dungeness crab sandwich was a bit disappointing - fairly bland, esp. compared to the chowder. I’ve been before, and I’ll be happy to go again. The chowder is that good.

Since visiting San Francisco, we have become chowder snobs, but Pike Place Chowder was fantatic. We actually ended up going there two days in a row for lunch , trying a few different kinds of chower (the basic clam chowder was our favorite). Want a tip? Order online, and skip the GIANT line that everyone else waits in. You're welcome!

If you’ve not tried their seafood bisque chowder yet, you have to! We’ve been to the location in Post Aly and was told there was also one in Pacific Plaza on Pine Street. Glad we went there! Fast service, no lines, same quality of food! I ordered the warmed lobster roll with the bisque chowder and it was the perfect pairing. If you can’t decide what to order, go for the chowder sampler - a little bit of every chowder to help you decide what to order next time!

Worth waiting in line for! This is a Seattle staple! We had the new england clam chowder and the market chowder which was lobster crab and corn chowder. Both amazing but the new england chowder is the best!

This venue is not an award winning chowder restaurant without reason. For $7.75 a New England chowder is served in a cardboard bowl with a slice or two of bread. It is extremely good and served hot. We had researched this venue beforehand and knew what to expect. Well worth a detour for!

We couldn’t decide on which chowder to try, so we decided on the sampler, what a GREAT idea!! The four we tried we beyond delicious.

The line was down the alley but don't be afraid of it, it moves fast and is worth the wait! The line was down the alley but don't be afraid of it, it moves fast and is worth the wait! We arrived early Sunday morning in Seattle and went straight to Pike’s Place Market and looked on Trip Advisor for the #1 place to eat and it was Pike Place Chowder. We got a bowl of chowder in a sourdough bowl and a lobster roll the Connecticut style. This food was so good, I could barely stand it. It was also nearly $50 with tip, so we split the roll and bowl of soup. It was enough for both of us with the bread bowl and there was bread left. This is not a cheap place to eat but it a place you must if you are ever in Seattle.

One of the best clam chowder I've ever had! The chowder was chuck full of tender, tasty clams with just the right combination of seasoning and creaminess. We almost didn't stay because of the line, but I'm so glad we did! The line actually moved fairly quickly and even with the minimal seating, they seemed to be able to accommodate people well. We were there mid day on a rainy Saturday, just for reference. We will definitely stop on our next trip to Seattle.

This place advertises the "best chowder in the US", but I disagree. I've had better chowders in places like Legal Seafood. The seafood bisque was quite hearty, chock full of fish unlike the clam chowder

The place is on a higher floor in the shopping area which threw us off at first. We got chowder to go along with the market salad. Both were very fresh. The chowder was nice and thick without being sticky. We felt it was a very good bargain.

Went here because everyone raves about their chowder. And let me tell you, there are so many better chowder places, with better prices that this place was a bit disappointing. I had the seafood bisque and was not even slightly impressed. The prices are kind of steep for what you get.

We went on a food tour and this was one of our stops. Their clam chowder definitely deserves all the praise it gets. Now if I could just find the recipe!

Been with the wife after a long day walking around downtown, waterfront and public market. We had the New England clam, a couple beers, and the fish and chips. Portions were generous and all very tasty. If you are looking for great, genuine and affordable food in Seattle, this may be your place.

I went to Pike Place Market a little after 5pm and was disappointed that the famous Pike Place Chowder that friends raved about was already closed. Later that evening, I randomly walked to a food court near my hotel and luckily saw an outpost of the famous restaurant right there... and without the huge line of the original. Score! The seafood bisque and lobster roll were pretty good. I'd go back.

Forever grateful Pike Place Chowder has a plant-based chowder. It was simply the most amazing chowder ever. It great when plant-based individuals can dine with their canivore friends. I went back on day two, but the line was wrapped around the market. Definitely a sign of great food!

Each Seattle visit we walk down to Pike's Market and see the lines waiting outside Pike Place Chowder to enjoy a bowl of their famous feast. I wonder if the tourists realize that the same chowder is at the Pine Street address down the street and an actually better location with no lines waiting and plenty of seats to enjoy this creamy delicacy. I frequent this Pine Street location whether for a cup or bowl of chowder. Their clam strip basket is delicious with plenty of handmade fries to accompany a larger appetite. This small place is located in a mall that houses a movie theater and Barnes and Noble bookstore along with several other great restaurants. A must do.

Samplers are the way to go! Delicious sampling of chowders. Super fast and friendly staff. Zero wait time unlike pike place location.

The clam chowder is okay. The portion is small. We ordered one 8 oz cup of New England clam chowder and their combo crab sandwich (full size) that came with an 8 oz clam chowder too. Total is $56. The sandwich came with a bread that is the same size as a hot dog bun. I've had their clam chowder every time I came to Seattle. I think this would be the last time. Ivar clam chowder (located on Alaskan way) actually tasted better in my opinion.

This place is legendary for their chowder. There is a tiny sitting area inside, and a few tables outside, so finding a table can be a challenge. Take out is common. There is usually a long line to place your order, which would be a problem in poor weather conditions. However, they have a variety of different chowders, but we always get their "original" which we find the best we've had anywhere. We go there every time we are fortunate enough to visit Seattle.

We firstly tried to go to the Pike Place Chowder near the market, but the queue was enormous so we went to this one in a shopping centre instead. There was no queue, we easily got seated and the clam chowder was absolutely delicious. We also had the lobster rolls, which were also lovely. Well worth a visit.

Everyone kept telling us to go to Ivar's for the clam chowder, but my friend and I definitely found Pike Place Chowder to be better. We enjoyed it so much that we had to make one last stop before leaving Seattle. Go to their location in downtown Seattle at the mall food court. No waiting in long lines and they serve the same food. I also tried their fish tacos. 2 was plenty filling and not greasy.

Long line and hard to find we finally had to ask others for direction. The long line went fairly quickly. But it’s really a To-Go type of place and not many table options. We ended up walking into the adjoining mall and standing at a counter space to eat our chowders. Chowders were okay, personally I thought a little salty. But it could be that my taste buds have been affected since I have tried to cut down on my salt in-take. I ordered a large crab and oyster chowder and I wasn’t able to find not even one oyster!

My wife and I ate here while visiting Pike Place Market. I had the Seafood Bisque and my wife had the Market Chowder. It was delicious. We were served quickly and were able to continue about our day. We highly recommend this place!
A must visit,
Awesome chowder and lobster rolls in a tourist setting. Lines start forming before 11am opening but it is well worth it. Expensive but so worth it.
