Came here for a gathering after a funeral to owner our mother. On a 102 year old sloop all equipped for parties. We rented the entire boat and had about 29 people who enjoyed champagne, -a variety of appetizers and some awesome main courses. Unique views of ny harbor and terrific service. We both love led three hours and added another one. They are a regular restaurant after 4 pm and dining is truly a great experience here

Such a nice place, with great food! We ordered oysters and lobster rolls : it was so delicious. Shoutout to the mousse for the dessert, and to the team for the great service. The view was breathtaking. 100% recommend.

We went for lunch Saturday. Service was good. Prices are high for the quantity. We had the scallops which were very good. Also shared the beet salad and watermelon/tomato dish. Fresh flavors, nicely done. Personally, I did not enjoy the rocking! I agree with another reviewer that you need to be careful with alcohol consumption onboard if you have a weak stomach. Water glasses almost slid off the table into the water...so stay alert!

A must if you are looking for the best sea food with the view of the city. Try different types of oysters. This place has a super cool vibe!

We had an amazing diner on that old magnificieny boat that offers a unique view on the Manhattan skyline. We were lucky enough to be seated on the front part of the boat, right on time for sunset. Come here for the show and the experience, as the coktails are just ok and the food is nice but nothing very creative - small portions, poor seasonings and a way too-cooked fish. The staff was friendly.

Pilot is a sailboat docked at Pier 6 in Brooklyn. It serves drinks and light fare. It was amazing to sit and have cocktails and watch the sun set over Manhattan. The view was stunning!!!

This restaurant, on a sailboat docked at Pier 6, was where we chose to stop for drinks and a quick appetizer one Sunday afternoon. The location is prime, and we were charmed by the clean, modern yet nautical theme of the restaurant. The tables were bolted to the deck, thank goodness, because when a large barge passes, the boat does rock. If you enjoy sailing, boating, or pretending to sail or yacht, this is your place. Drinks were good, with a variety to please just about anyone (but no dark beers for my husband). The appetizers were NYC priced, yet fresh and delicious. Service was slow, though, and luckily there's a lot to see in the harbor. We had a delightful chat with Julie, one of the owners, who made the experience sparkle! I give this a four rating, because it's on the water and because Julie made it fun.

Atmosphere lovely for Saturday afternoon drinks. Basic cocktails. Food is available but I'd make a booking. Avoid if you have sea sickness!

A boat docked off Brooklyn Bridge Park. Magical view of the harbour, city, bridges. Good fresh seafood. Wife had lobster roll, I had soft shell crab We shared oysters Aperol SPritz and rose. If this isnt the best date spot in NYC I dont know what is. Entirely weather dependant but if you get a nice ngiht or day Plus you can take a walk in one of NYC's most underrated parks after you eat. An A+ experience.

The menu is very small, which makes total sense considering this restaurant is a boat so no complaints there, but I feel like the portions were also really small and it was hard to fill up. The seafood was quality, I just think it was lacking other flavors to spice up the dishes. It's important to note that I was hungover, and as someone who also gets seasick, I was really worried about the motion of the boat. The boat definitely moves a lot due to all the tour boats and cargo barges that drive by, but I ended up being ok.

I had been looking to go since hearing of it last year. Yacht at end of Pier 6 does not disappoint on view of Manhattan and the busy New York Harbor. Oysters were excellent and the oyster bar seating was fun. Lobster Roll a bit small but delicious. Crab Poboy was a hit. Larger than the lobster roll an with a spicy kick. Oyster Bar staff knowledgeable and friendly Host very friendly Waitress might have just been new? Fun Get early for big table at bow of ship

The picture perfect skyline and gentle sway of the nearly 100 year old racing vessel further enhances straightforward seafood fare reinvented with subtle flair. Classy management (shout out to Eric & Kevin) and unobtrusive service allows you to enjoy your time onboard without feeling rushed, allowing us to comfortably enjoy our meal and cocktails. Try to snag a coveted seat at the bow of the ship at dusk this summer for a truly memorable night out.

This was a very memorable highlight of our day trip to Brooklyn. Actually, we walked there from the 9/11 memorial, across the Brooklyn bridge to "discover" the waterfront. It was a very pleasant walk but beware the many cyclists on the bridge - certainly a hazard if you are not alert. We had cocktails on the Pilot, a 1924 wooden schooner with a legacy of fine service and many miles travelled around the world, twice!. The cocktails were very good, an interesting selection that tempts you back for repeat visits. The views of Lower Manhattan are wonderful and the slight rocking of the boat adds to the atmosphere of the occasion. The staff are lovely, offering a small "sample" in case you have doubt on what to order, and it was very nice chatting with them about the boat, Brooklyn and all things NYC. We did pick up that the restaurant / drinks closes at 12am prompt and that the waterfront park also closes at 12am so you risk a talking to (and a fine, we guess) by the police if you outstay your welcome after midnight. A first visit and certainly a favourite of our trip to NYC. Will definitely visit again.

“Karen” experience…would never return or suggestion this place. The managers nor the staffs response to “Karen” was acceptable. “Karen” was not told told her behavior was not tolerated but patiently allowed to finish her just order drink.

We went on a very cold, windy, rainy evening and we were afraid they might not be open but we were so happy they were. It was our only night to try it out so we stuck it out through the weather and had a couple drinks despite getting soaked. The views alone are worth 5 stars but the staff and experience make it even better. This place will be on the top of our list next time we are in NYC and hopefully will luck out with some better weather. Yay Pilot!

I was looking for oysters in Brooklyn and found Pilot. I made a reservation online but I don’t think it was necessary. The restaurant followed CDC guidelines for COVID and made it a comfortable experience. There were around six options for oysters and a small brunch menu. The lobster roll was fresh and the avocado toast was a bit heavy. The service was great; everything came out quickly. It was a windy day so the boat was a bit rocky. Overall a nice experience. I rated it a four because of the limited menu and warm water served with out ice. The pier has a really nice view and it’s a good place to walk around.

Great view undeniable Best meal no, nice place to stop for a drink though Staff friendly and inviting

A 1924 schooner the longest serving pilot ship in American history. Serving the best lobster roll in the 5 boroughs of New York along with great cocktails and other great food including sea fresh oysters. Moored in a perfect spot with fantastic views of lower Manhattan.

Nicely renovated boat which explains the high prices. If you have good sea legs you should enjoy this otherwise the combination of swaying and drinking could end up disastrous but it is a great view.

The food is presented nicely to make it seem fancy but it's very mediocre. Of course the prices are insane because you're on a boat with a view. Apart from that the atmosphere on board is chaotic, the service is a total mess, and oh my god the crowd is a bunch of basic dullards pretending they're in the Hamptons.

Come for the views and the unique experience of the boat. The service was good but you can find better food and drinks at the other restaurants in NY.

My son and his wife had their wedding lunch on the boat. We had fantastic food, drinks and service. The view is incredible.

Wait service was attentive but cocktail prices were a complete ripoff. May be good to be on a boat with a view but cheaper options to enjoy New York City. Ditch the boat and just walk to the end of the pier and eat somewhere else. Save yourself the $2 water service fee too!

I loved this experience! The schooner is beautiful and makes a wonderful place for a restaurant. I had a delicious lobster roll and a permanent vacation cocktail. A very memorable lunch. The staff were fantastic.

I was part of a group that just had drinks and appetizers at Pilot. They were reasonably priced and good. Our waiter was competent, if slightly inattentive. The problem was the host, who does not seem to understand his job at all. We had been placed in four adjoining seats of an empty table for six. Because the angle of the sun was blinding one person in our party, we shifted seats. This prompted the host to come over and lecture us about how badly we were behaving, telling us that this was impermissible behavior -- no matter that there was no one waiting for a table anywhere in the restaurant, and we had still left him two empty seats which he could have seated another couple at. It was both annoying and insulting. Until this changes, I would suggest that folks stay away.

Not just a Restaurant & Bar on a Pier as it happens to be beautiful Schooner with the most spectacular views. Will definitely go back.

So promising with a great location, stunning boat and how good it could have been. Service was worst we’ve had in NY, had to follow up on drinks, mains brought out before entrees, tried to give us original stone cold mains that had been sitting, waiting for us to finish entrees. Oysters took 30 minutes to shuck, no wine glasses with bottle of wine. Hopefully this was just a bad day for them. Food not worth travelling for however would be great for a pit stop drink at the bar before moving on.
Great venue (retired sailing boat), amazing view, mediocre food and service
Pilot is a very special restaurant as it is located on a retired sailing boat tied to Brooklyn’s Pier 6. You dine on deck with wonderful views of Manhattan‘s southern tip, and the Pier 11/Wall St ferry port. We came by ferry, the ride itself being a nice experience. The restaurant is specialized in oysters - you can choose between a variety of different oysters, but also different starters, mains, and desserts. While the oysters were amazing, we found food to be rather bland and uninspired. Service was ok, but could have been more attentive and friendly. It seems that the restaurant mainly benefits from its unusual venue and location… In hindsight, we would only have come for a drink and some oysters before heading off to another place for dinner.
