If you want to listen to a nice jazz band and enjoy a nice meal out, then I would suggest Pips on La Brea. The atmosphere is nice and enjoyable. The food was okay. Service was good. There is a small fee charged to you bill for the music. If you are in the area and want to listen to jazz and have an enjoyable meal, then I would suggest a visit to Pips on La Brea. Valet parking only $10.00!

Great laid back vibe, smooth jazz, good food & drinks too! Tuesday night is our night! Lead guitar player’s daughter also performed, beautiful voice!!

Girls night out for drinks was quite fun because of the live band and good music after the band concluded. The cocktails were good and the bartenders were attentive and creative. However the wine was a low end "grocery store" selection . I suggest they get a sommelier wine student (or even an amateur like me) to give them some recommendations to compliment the very nice menu selections. The atmosphere was nice and the patio was airy and cool.

Hadn't been in a long time and I was pleasantly surprised to find it even better than the last time. I loved their eggplant parmesan but it is no longer on their menu. I had the salmon and grilled zucchini small plate and it was excellent. Others had rack of lamb and it too was excellent. Food is seasoned to perfection. Love that they have music 7 days a week and always very good talent. Would highly recommend this, expecially to take out of town guests

I had been bragging about the atmosphere and food for months because I had been there once before. The evening started when they had lost our reservation. It was corrected quickly. My party was set right under a speaker that was a little loud. Then we sat for almost 20 minutes waiting to order drinks. Then another 20 to order our food. When they finally brought our steaks, they were quite tough. There were 6 in my party.. 3 House steak, 1 salmon, 1 lasagna, and a chef salad. The 3 steaks were served first... Followed by the salmon 10 minutes later. Another 10 minutes later the lasagna was served and finally the salad... I was trained that in gourmet dining, the entire table is served at once. The final straw was when we asked to split the bill and were told that because we split the bill, they were adding an 18% gratuity to the bill. I read the menu and nowhere did it mention that. Only for parties over 8 people. I think Denny's would have been a better dinner. I WILL NOT GO BACK!!!

We had a fantastic night at Pips. Incredible band and vocals from ‘Madam Dee’. This was our first time and we were made to feel so welcome. Lovely Pizza too. Our favourite L.A venue

Tried Pip's on a whim for the first time to listen to some music on a Friday with dinner while visiting L.A. Wasn't sure what to expect but found the place to be a good for meeting with friends and opting for outdoor seating (we did not know). We ate inside and found inside to be somewhat dated but the food and bottle of wine was pleasing as we listened to the music. Would recommend you go around 9:00 p.m. but have a reservation since it is a small establishment.

nice place to be in like the food the chicken picata was great I really love it. in the down side live music is to much the space is to small for that but in the other hand the piano was great next time I will seat in the patio to enjoy more my evening.

Our group visited PIPs for some good food and live music and we weren't disappointed on either front. The restaurant has recently remodeled their outdoor deck and it was very nice. The entertainment was inside but with the openness to the patio, you could hear from anywhere you sat. We love the energy and vibe and fact that the owner, Derrick Pipkin, was mingling with the guests and took time to even kneel down and chat at the table. One of our favorites!

Nice ambiance and great live music. Unlimited mimosas brunch is a good gift for a special lady on her birthday, anniversary, or mothers day.

A great evening. Loved the band, good food (be sure to have the mushrooms stuffed with crab), good prices, great vibe, good service. We were there on a Tuesday night - band played a very fine mixture of smooth jazz, West Coast cool, a little blues - so much talent and experience.

Consistently A Favorite! It was a date night and it's our favorite place to reconnect with each other over great good and good live music in a low light cozy room environment. I am salt sensitive and their chefs consistently hit the mark in that important area for me.

I took my dad here to listen to live jazz. The musicians are great, the servers are friendly and the venue is chill but classy.

I have had the pleasure of dining on Wednesdays at pip's I must say that all the things I have herd were true Great service Great Food and Great drinks. and the live band was awesome. prices were very affordable and the guest were very embracing with each other. I will definitely be back and continue to visit pip's

Live music bomb good great drinks what can go wrong the salmon pizza is so damn good and the band was fantastic

Comfortable atmosphere. Kind of like Cheers: a place where everyone knows your name. Many regulars. This was our first time, but we still felt welcome. Pizza was good. Absolutely loved the tortilla soup. Yummy salad. Wouldn't order the cheesecake again. Family friendly - under 21 okay for dinner. Our teen had a good time (Good place to take a music student). Music was great. $10 valet parking was well worth the expense. Bring cash tips for the musicians - they earn them! A very enjoyable evening. We would go again & encourage others to try this blues restaurant.

We had a wonderful time. Loved the small bites and the live entertainment was incredible. It's always a good time at Pip's!

This is a delightful place for good food, good jazz, generous drinks, and friendly staff. Every request is seen to promptly and the atmosphere is cozy, where professional musician patrons are sometimes part of the entertainment on an impromptu basis. There is indoor and outdoor seating, where the patio and bar create a beautiful, leafy enclave. This is a place to go for celebrations but also to lift the spirits in difficult times.

We go for the wonderful music of the Dave Peterson group, who now perform on Tuesdays in place of the late, fabulous Barbara Morrison. The food is good, the service excellent, there's indoor and enclosed patio service, and a warm, intimate ambience so rare in LA's hyper-cool, hard-surface places.

Pips is a great place to have a quiet intimate dinner or lunch or a great place to enjoy a beautiful view on the patio with live music. The food is tasty and well prepared as are the signature drinks. The owner of the establishment was very nice and aims to please.

Really nice place!! Love the vibes! The band was amazing and so were the food and drinks!! And, great customer service too!! Can't wait to go back!! 🫶🏽💕🥳

I made a reservation weeks in advance and while they had my reservation, they did not have a table for me. Their excuse was that they had a birthday party of 50. They found a place to squeeze me in (next to another large party) but then I learned that Bob DeSena would not be performing that evening (he was the reason for my visit). I was going to leave but the waiter encouraged me to stay and said that the woman performing that evening was phenomenal. So.. I had a cocktail, ordered an appetizer and stayed. The vocalist was good but spent a lot of time begging for tips in between sets and the appetizer (stuffed mushrooms) were terrible. I was seated right next to the kitchen and the smells from it were nauseating. Additionally, one of the large parties included children and while it was a restaurant, it felt more like a small jazz club and didn't feel like a place for kids.

Every Wednesday from 7 to 10 Pm you will experience the soulful sounds of this powerful songstress . Dinner service begins at 6pm reservations are strongly suggested . The Dining experience includes everything from Pizza to gourmet meals and amazing deserts . There is ample Valet Parkimg . Come join the fun at Pips on La Brea . You will have a great dining experience . Victoria

On a trip with my wife, we googled this place to hear some jazz. And to our amazement Jeff Robinson was performing. (FRIDAY @7:00PM)All I can say is WOW! Also we had dinner. That too was phenomenal. Great price and great portions! Can't wait until the next trip back to LA.

Soul Down Sunday for my birthday night cap. Great vibes. The DJ’s spun a great mix of sounds. Drinks delicious. We tried empanadas, wings, pizzas… All great! Book ahead to guarantee seating. There’s a small charge but it’s so worth it. Fills up fast so be sure to arrive before 6!

Dine outside on the patio with live music and European ambiance. Terrific Italian food. Funny out of the way location but great value and food.

Stopped at Pips with friends around midnight. Nice crowd of mainly grown folks with an upbeat atmosphere. There was no band at that time but the DJ played R&B and people danced.

Great food, great music, great drinks and great atmosphere. The $20 bottomless mimosa's were a great perk also!

We got to Pips on Sunday morning at 11am and they were ready with a great spread of food and drinks. This is a must visit restaurant if you are anywhere in Los Angeles. For Sunday Brunch you pay a set charge and eat all you like, from starters, through mains to desserts along with sangrias and margaritas. AND you are entertained into the bargain with great live jazz. This was our first time. The proof that it was not a one-of was the number of locals and the number using it for Birthday and such celebrations. Book in advance to avoid disappointment as it is busy..

Awesome jazz dinner club. The food was great, ambience even better. Musicians made our night complete.

We were looking for a delicious place to eat with live jazz. We chose Pips on La Brea and the expectations were high. We were impressed by how delicious the food is. The energy and the atmosphere are perfect. We we visit this wonderful place when we come back to LA.

The ambience is very welcoming, the staff solicitous, helpful, and courteous, the food delicious, and the music a delightful mix of jazz and blues. The only downside is that the music is way too loud. We tried sitting outside, but my husband still found it to loud, even without his hearing aids!

This is a great jazz club. We saw David Leech quartet who plays straight ahead and traditional jazz. The staff is very friendly and bartender pours nice strong cocktails. We had the empanadas and shrimp pizza which were both really good. We sat inside to be close to the band but they have a nice patio outside where you watch on the screen. We came from New York, but a lot of the crowd seemed to be locals. They have valet parking but we came at 6:30 and found street parking pretty easily. The band played two sets and we stayed for both. There is no cover charge so make sure to tip the band.

Outstanding service and atmosphere. Made my sister's birthday a great experience. The Entertainment was awesome and our waiter was exceptional.

Very nice vibe for the grown and sexy. The drinks were excellent, and I definitely recommend the empanadas.

Pips has amazing food and service. If your lucky request Jay as your waiter!! He is an amazing server!! Great live music. My 5th time here and I'm stuck!!

This is such a great spot. The food is great, the live music is fun and the vibe is poppin. Be sure to make reservations, the place fills up fast

Dinner outdoors on a cool evening with the heater on was perfect. The music was initially too loud but Pancho graciously turned it down. The music was excellent a jazzy mix of familiar songs from the 50's to 90's. The musician had an extraordinary voice. The wines are mostly California and well priced. The food is Italian in what I think of as the East Coast style. There is also Pizza. Everyone was pleased with their pastas. We did the very unusual for L.A..... we walked there from Wilshire Vista. We Ubered back. This restaurant is not "retro" but is a tribute to the past. The area I believe is historically African American and the clients are an L.A. mix. In the show BOSCH the Captain says "L.A. is a three-piece suit: Black White and Brown" PIPs celebrates this mix. What a wonderful place!

This was a jazz listening visit. That said. This is a small establishment. Reservations are a must. Seating inside is limited and you can't hear the music if you sit outside. There are also only about 5 seats at the bar. I had the chicken Caesar salad and it was just ok. You will also be required to pay $8 for valet parking. The jazz group playing on Wed night was decent. Knowing all that this is a nice place to visit, dine and listen to live jazz.

The food is a joke, probably one of the worst tasting meals i've ever had.... The pizza tasted like a cheap frozen pizza. Do yourself a favor, don't waste your money on a meal here.

Absolutely love Pips. Dining while listening to great music. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding.

Excellent live music Superb food Wonderful atmosphere A great time was had by all!!! I go back again and again and it never disappoints……keep doin’ what your doin’ Pips!!! Thanks for another phun nite :)

Had lunch there with a cousin, both our first time there. There was a DJ blasting music in the courtyard. We were the only customers in a dank, dark, extremely hot restaurant. Ten minutes to get a glass of water and have our drink orders taken, an additional twenty minutes to get our appetizers and almost a half hour for our entree. The food was really good but extremely over priced. I order pasta with shrimp. I received a large bowl of pasta covered in spicy sauce with four medium sized shrimp for $25. Definitely not a place I'll be visiting again.

I had my Birthday day celebration here, the restaurant accommodated my large party and arranged the dinner in the patio section which was great as the inside of the restaurant was small and crowed. I'm rating the restaurant a bit high due to the entertainment value and not necessarily the food. The entertainment for the night was a Latin Jazz band that played all night..one of the band members interacted with the customers by coming by the tables playing his trumpet and he personally came to my table and played a jazzy Happy Birthday to me which was nice. The food in itself was not bad but lacked creativity and was nothing out of this world...price was average but drinks seemed a bit over priced . The server (Ashley) was very nice and made sure the drinks came on coming. The place is small and intimate, the patio is very cozy with a large tree that adds character to it all. If your looking to have some drinks and listen to nice jazz in the background than I highly recommend this place.

If you want to know about LA. Live music, Jazz, great food, nice people, relax atmosphere. This is the place to be!! Simple and fiqne! 5 stars to Derrick the owner.

We go on Tuesdays to hear Barbara Morrison, who is such an awesome, versatile singer. She's so good, other professionals come to hear her and she often invites them onstage to perform a few numbers. She greets everyone before the show and exudes such a warmth and hospitality, you feel she has welcomed you into her own home. The food is delicious and nicely served. Wait staff very friendly. Valet parking is $8, plus tip if you like (it's cold standing out there!). Whole evening costs about $30-$40 per person with a drink and dessert. With Barbara and her excellent trio, and no cover charge, it's a bargain. Show starts at 7:00 and you're out by 10:15.

Great environment with live music and tasty appetizers . A wonderful place for lounging with friends and conversations

Thanks for making my dads birthday so special ! It was an awesome blessing. The staff treated us like we were their number one priority , they went over and beyond! The food was great, atmosphere & music perfect . Great job!

Great food and great entertainment, atmosphere is excellent and the location is great. The band was outstanding.

Pips is always a blast - great food and amazing music and service! the back garden is also lovely! We love the bands - too jazz musicians every time!

Great live band played terrific jazz and blues. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere with good food and service. Can’t wait to go back again.

Blessef Great Place🥰..injoyed very nice..family fun..thanx u very much PIPES ON LABREA Beautifull place..lovely laid back great band great food

I was mildly surprised. I would pass by this place and judging from the outside it didn't look like somewhere I would go. But some friends had been to Pips and they recommended it. So this past Friday, we had a going away dinner and birthday celebration there and I was impressed. It is not a very big place but it is nice and quaint. They have entertainment and outside seating which is nice in the summer time. I highly recommend Pips for a fun night with friends. I am going to try their Sunday brunch next which I heard is very good.

I have only good things to report about mine and my family's recent experience at Pipps on LaBrea. Not many restaurants could do such a great job handling a party of 35 for Sunday brunch. That's exactly what happened at this restaurant. We had my daughter's birthday brunch there which included family members from young to the elderly. The food was delicious, the variety was extensive and there was so much good food I had to eat in stages. Still there were so many tasty offerings that I missed a few items because I was too stuffed to eat one more thing! The staff was very accommodating and attentive and the live saxophonist on the patio only added to the very pleasant atmosphere. Let me tell you we spent several hours there enjoying our party and never felt rushed or pressured. I definitely recommend this restaurant for brunch or for a wonderful celebration venue. We couldn't have been more pleased.

This was my second visit the PIPs. I went for my birthday this past Friday night with friends. First off, owner Derek, you should consider giving your waitress, Ariel, a raise! From the moment she introduced herself as our waitress she made sure to do everything she could to make my birthday celebration a memorable one even down to singing the Stevie Wonder version of Happy Birthday while carrying my bread pudding with a cute birthday candle. She practically suggested our entire meal and libations and was spot on ! She even gave props to you as a boss (say it with me Derek, r-a-i-s-e). On an aside, Ariel was waiting on a difficult table where they asked her, to change the silverware provide them with paper plates and replace some dinnerware. Through that she did it with a smile. Not even a hint of aggravation. I wanted to tell them, "kiss my grits" for her. Yes, I know this is her job but her handling of them was stellar. Now back to the meal. To start we had the Calamari (good but a little dry), Chicken Brochettes (juicy pieces of chicken with onions and peppers on a skewer atop a bed of white rice), and Pips Stuffed Mushrooms (I couldn't believe I was eating a mushroom, it was that good ! It was paired w/a flaky flat bread and spinach). For the main dishes we had the Lasagna (seasoned very well), Cannelloni (rich like Ariel said but worth ever bite), and Mediterranean Couscous (light, a bit of spice, and filling). All were delicious. For dessert Tiramisu and Bread Pudding. All I have to say about that is O..M...G!!! We dined to the jazz vocals of Jeff Robinson. He was unbelievable. And I'm not saying that just because he sang me a jazzy happy birthday song. He got the diners involved. There's valet and strees parking. Indoor and patio seating. Yes, I will definitely return especially for that bread pudding.

We had been wanting to go here. Live jazz! Friendly service, good food and the music was on point. Be sure to get there at 7 o’clock. Place gets crowded and it is small.

Hubby and I went to Pips for date night. We hd an awesome time. The food was good, music great and the staff was excellent. Looking forward to more date nights at Pips.

I'm in LOVE!!! What an amazing place; delicious food, great food, strong yummy drinks and great music. The vibe and atmosphere is great. Highly recommend this place. Caution- cigar smoke creeps inside If you are sensitive, not for you. Also, if you expect fast service = not for you.

Raves about the osso buco, the service was attentive and relaxesd, and the vibe of the place like a good party. Great experience!

Live jazzy/bleus music that compells you to sing along and have a wonderfull time. Lasagna and grilled veggies where awesome.

3.0 star rating 8/8/2022 3.5 stars. I think it's Just about does the job. Like, it's just right, u know. The ambiance is very nice. Everyone seems to just be destressing on a friday night. Everyone seems to just be unwinding and you don't see that often anymore at just any place. The vibe was nice. You got blues playing in the background and all on Friday nights. Food: The wings and pizza we had were very delicious. Not the absolute best I've had but not the worst either. Again, it was just right. Pizza and wings with water cups was about $41. I'll leave it to you to decide if that's good or not. Parking: There is street parking on the residential areas (about 5 min walk) or sometimes near target(about a 2 minute walk). Other than that, you have to pay $12 or $13(can't remember) for valet. I hate to be THAT guy. But, $13 for this nice place is a lil too much. $12 is what I pay at a vineyard or at Malibu fancy restaurants. Staff: Everyone is friendly, attemptive to what is going on around them. Anybody would be glad to help you out. Would I return? Yes I would but it's not like a place where I'm itching and so eager to return to tomorrow or something like that. Defintely, defintely give them a shot and tag/follow us on insta/tiktok @thehungrynomadz

Excellent service! The food is amazing 👏🏾 Music was an added treat. Highly recommend 👌🏾 The family and I had a wonderful birthday celebration. Brandon is a great host.

This spot is pure charm, down home elegance. Warm attentive staff, simple and delicious food, great clientele even, and FANTASTIC LIVE MUSIC.

I found this place recommended when googling for a restaurant near where we were staying. It looked pretty swanky from the outside but we decided t try it. There was "valet parking" which means 2 blokes put bollards out to stop you parking on the street and then take your car round the back. They charge you $10. Bit of a scam but hey ho they're people just trying to get by so we decided to regard it as a donation to keeping people in a job. Just park further away if you dont want to pay. The restaurant is smart and has live jazz every night. We had a great time. The clientele were mainly friends and supporters of the jazz band and included us in their banter - telling us all about the band and the main singer. It was great fun and the jazz wonderful.Oh yes and the food wasn't bad either.
Great food? Music and atmosphere
Booked a table for six which ended up being a table for nine. Staff were really accommodating. Music was great. Nice chilled atmosphere. Cocktails were fantastic and food was excellent. Friendly and fun service. Would certainly recommend
