Real Chicago Pizza

By Christie V |

Pizano's was a real win for classic Chicago-style pizza. The service was great, especially for casual dining, and the pizza was divine! Big ups on the minestrone soup and appetizers, too.

A great restaurant in Chicago.

By Leslie F |

We dropped in for an evening meal. And what a lovely restaurant. Italian with a sports feel. Friendly staff and and we got a great table. Waitress kept us in beers until the pizza arrived, which was really nice. We shared a thin base Small which was large enough for two people. A great restaurant with a reasonable price great pizza. I highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Chicago..

Open Late Night; Better Pizza Than Giordano's

By La Luna |

My husband and I stayed in Chicago at the Palmer House Hotel on Friday, August 6. We had been out all day and were looking for a place to have a late dinner. It was after 10pm and most places were closed. Thankfully, Pizano's was nearby and open. The traffic from Lollapalooza was horrendous so we needed a place we could easily walk to. We were seated immediately. We ordered a small veggie deep dish pan pizza. We waited quite some time for it to arrive. While the outer edge of the crust was a bit hard, the pizza overall was delicious. We ate at Giordano's in July and actually liked Pizano's pizza better.

Good service, good pizza, great dessert.

By daniarwen |

Recommended by our hotel concierge. The deep dish pizza was good as was our service, but the highlight of the meal was the dessert - warm cookie with ice cream - so good!

the worst cheese pizza I have ever had

By Sanjay T |

One of the worst pizza. Ordered thin crust pizza, the crust was not really thin but some of kind of frozen crust from super market. Pizza sauce was not up to the mark in pizza it is more like canned tomatoes. i would put the pizza in worst category and not react this place at all.

Definitely One of Chicago's Best

By EMM_Dallas |

I was born and raised in Chicago, and whenever I return for work or a family visit, I make a point of stopping at Pizano's. I love their thin crust sausage and cheese pizza, and definitely recommend ordering it with the cheese well done/browned. Otherwise, it can be a little soggy. For something a little lighter, the salads are all very well sized and shareable. You won't be disappointed!!

A must stop while in Chicago

By Bookclub8girls |

There really is an Uncle Chach - best waiter ever. When he found out that we were from Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, he shared many tales from his past when he stayed there in his family vacation home. Come not only to enjoy his service and stories, but the food was amazing. The alfredo was outstanding. And don't forget to get a photo with Chach.

Great lunch pizza experience

By David R |

Recommended by concierge. House salad with Italian dressing great. Small pizza nicely filled is both up. Server Glen had 2 good local pale ale recommendations and took good care of us. Oink but yum!

Generous servings of deep dish pizza

By Tim G |

This place is mainly for sharing a pizza with your partner or friends. The smallest is for two, but comes as a generously sized 8” or 9” deep pan pizza ready cut into four. Every one freshly cooked and so don’t expect lightning service; they warn you about 30-35 min waits. Ambience good but bustling and gloomy. Service was excellent, glasses of iced water brought without asking, and after ordering coffee our mugs were topped up every ten mins! It was worth the wait. Deep and satisfying! Crusts very hard so watch out you can’t suck them to death!

Deep dish Pizano’s pizza!

By conorsam133 |

For someone who’s tried a few pizza places around the world (to say the least) Pizano’s is way up there with the best, just the right amount of sauce to cheese and very generous with their toppings. Fantastic staff and service coupled a very relaxed atmosphere makes for a very pleasant experience (especially right after skating in millenium park for 2 hours too!)

Thin Crust Pizza

By Visitor 1 |

It's obvious that they do not know how to make a thin crust pizza. paid over 60 dollars to have a pepperoni mushroom delivered. Nowhere on thier website do they say how its cut or prepared. The pizza came cut into small squares, pepperoni under cheese. called and the manager was the second person I talked to. he (with anger in his voice) refused to make things right. He told me that I would need to order another pizza and could then customize it, which by now would put us back over $120.0. All he had to do was just make the customer happy but that is not the case there. now I understand why they get such a low rating. I give it terrible due to the customer service, and will not be back for any reason even if they gave free food.stay away and spend your money elsewhere

Great Food/Great Location

By Elfma |

Despite the labor shortages restaurants are facing everywhere, Pizano's brings their A game. Outdoor dining available. Beautiful old school bar. Deep dish to dream about. Yes, with sausage. This location seems to be a favourite with veterans, just sayin'. Can t wait to go back.

My daughter and I had a cozy

By chrissylantry |

My daughter and I had a cozy table by the bar. We started off with sharing ziti in vodka sauce - OMG. loaded with flavor. Then we chose the thin crust pan pizza traditional cheese. The mozzarella is fresh and from Wisconsin. The tomatoes are crushed in house and topped OVER the cheese. Then for dessert we had a deep dish cookie with ice cream. The service was spot on. A special shout out to our server Bobby who made us feel so at home. Not just a server - he went out of his way to make our dining experience special. Thank you!

Great thin crust pizza

By yellowbirdVermont |

This was a bit different from the Connecticut style pizza crust I am used to. We are partial to New Haven, Connecticut pizza but this Chicago pizza was good. The restaurant was like a pub atmosphere, very welcoming. We got our pizza to go and enjoy at our hotel.

Nice experience, good pizza

By Dave L |

Got a couple seats at the bar on a Saturday night. Place was busy, but service was quick and friendly. Ordered the chopped salad (so so) and a Rudy's Special deep dish, which was very good. Place is bustling and lively, and its a nice way to spend some time in the downtown area.

Walked out after 2 hours

By PsychMike71 |

Took 2 hours after a mistake on our order and the waiter ignoring us for us to walk out. Never again.

The best pizza!

By dedejm |

We love Pizano's. The best pizza in Chicago in our opinion. Thin crust and so flavorful. And the atmosphere of the restaurant is full of character and old Chicago

"deep dish dinner before a show"

By UberDad |

My girlfriend and I chose Pizano's due to it's location near our hotel and upon a recommendation from a friend. The deep dish pizza did not disappoint. Delicious with a flaky buttery crust! The deep dish take 30 minutes to cook so we ordered ahead and took our chances that we could get a table upon arrival. We were prepared to take our order to go but we lucked up and were seated right away despite the crowded dining room. We also had a house salad we shared. In hindsight, it was a very small salad and we should have ordered two or the large salad to split. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Prices were reasonable for downtown Chicago. All in all, a very good evening dinner before the theater!

Good food. Awful Staff.

By Michael F |

Visiting Chicago. Went two nights in a row, which was a mistake. The first night, a young patron got sick right near the front door, throwing up. It was unfortunate, but incredibly, the staff did not rush to clean it up. Did not rush to help the young man. Vomit just sat on the floor with several staff members ignoring it. The pizza was good, and it was close to my hotel, and the first incident was a bit weird, so I figured that I would go back. When I went in the second night, the host was incredibly rude. Because I was alone (in Chicago on business), he did not want to give me a table. He got annoyed and rudely waved me off when a waitress went to sit me. I commented about the rude wave, and then as I walked to my table, the host openly laughed at me. I realized suddenly how my two experiences in the restaurant were connected. Rude staff that simple does not care. Food is good, but expect to be treated poorly.

Good Food

By Neta_Avivi |

The food was very tasty and the deep dish pizza was much better than Uno’s. Service was good and the location was very convenient after a long visit to the Chicago Art Institute.

Chach is great.

By Carla P |

We went to Chicago and our friends took us to eat. Met Chach and the next time we went in he knew us and we had the best food and service. If you go there he will remember you for life and always serve yku with a smile. He is the best and so is the food. Indiana.

Malnati family’s best

By Julia O |

Similar to the offering at Lou Malnati’s, but not as crazy (no wait at dinner!) Tight quarters but affable staff. Pizza filling not as thick as Malnati’s, with thicker & far more garlicky crust. Seemed more tomatoes, too. Those who love Lou Malnati’s will continue to tough out the wait rather than come back here.

The Chach . . . Living Legend

By JLR |

The Chach is truly a legend and it was an honor to be seated at his table! Oh, and the food was superb! Hot Vitamin C thank you as well!

Worth the wait

By Herb I |

When you walk in to the restaurant, it feels like a neighborhood pizza place from a comfortable atmosphere perspective. When you get your Chicago deep dish pizza, you are elevated to a more beautiful experience of flavor and authenticity. Highly recommend! But allow 30-40 mins to have them bake your pizza. It’s worth the wait!

classic deep dish

By Andrea W |

tried typical deep dish pizza, was a bit heavy but delicious. Service was very nice, but place could be cleaner in general. Quality - Price - performance some overpriced.

Horrible wait times and super load with screaming kids but amazing pizza

By bgskyman |

Great location, but usually over an hour wait time, really crammed packed and ridiculously loud but amazing pizza. Appetizers are so so and the cola options are weird, no name brand drinks, but worth a visit if you've never had real Chicago pizza, save room for the desert cookie, the best you will have and eat it there, they forget ice cream and stuff if you get it to go.

Casual place for decent Italian and good service

By el13207 |

Three of us staying at a nearby hotel enjoyed dinner here, with great service from Esme. Tried the famous deep dish pizza, which, while good, did not turn me into a deep dish fan! They offer thin crust too, my preference, but not in an individual size. My companions enjoyed their pastas and we all were appreciative of the generous pours of wine by the glass.

Great Food and Great Service

By Ali |

My husband and I were just walking around the city, got hungry for some dinner and decided to eat at Pizano’s on a whim. So glad we did! The day was a Wednesday and the time was around 7:00pm. It was busy, but not busy enough that we had to wait for a table. They do have an outside area that I am sure is great for people watching, but we chose inside seating. Loved the decor on the inside. Dark, cozy, loud and woody, with lots of red. We were seated at a two person table which are very, very close to other two people tables...so be prepared to make some friends. There is also a really large welcoming bar in the restaurant. BJ was our server and I must say he is the man! He totally added to our dining experience. My husband and I decided we were getting deep dish pizza before we went inside, but once we opened the menus...it was a game changer! BJ helped us narrow down the large menu and answered all of our questions. My husband ordered the Italian Beef Sandwich with hot peppers (BJ recommended adding cheese - which my husband said was a thumbs up) and I ordered a side house salad and a pasta broccoli dish. Hubby said it was probably the best Italian Beef ever and my pasta was so amazing it made my eyes roll! The salad was mostly lettuce and really plain, but the homemade dressing they made was super delicious. Just run that lettuce through the garden a little more and it would be perfect. BJ was so fun through the whole dinner, making us laugh & carrying on with great conversation! He gave us a few Chicago tips for the evening (Cindy’s was awesome btw) and surprised us with a sinful dessert. When we left, we both gave him a huge hug and thanked him for such a super nice experience. You got one of the good ones Pizano’s! Prices are average for the city, restaurant is next to everything, staff is friendly and the food was served quickly. Truly a 5 out of 5 experience!

A genuine slice of pie in the Windy City

By Kristie N |

5 of 5. Always a treat when in the Windy City to get a slice or even a whole pie of Chicago style deep crust pizza. The debate of which is the best pie in town is a matter of personal taste. I find this place a great choice- close to so many attractions / magnificent mile and millennium park. They were playing a cubs game and many locals were there cheering the team on to the “w”. Very fun.

Authentic Chicago experience

By Chrys C |

Referred here by worker at Garrett’s gourmet popcorn shop. Excellent food. Our party of four had four different dishes- all awesome and very generous portions. Prompt service. Our server, Uncle Chach, was quite a character who had worked at the restaurant 50 years! Let’s feeling like family.

Pizza Perfection

By Carlos_Gonzalez2013 |

Great place in Chicago to have your Deep dish Chicago Pizza. I loved every piece of it with a nice, cold IPA. Food, beer and staff were great. Smashing!

Thin crust!

By AJ |

Love their thin crust pizza, and their deep dish is pretty great. Can't go wrong with a Rudy's Special or just a thin crust pepperoni. Quick service, even with staffing shortages. Can't wait to go back!

Craving Chicago-style deep dish?

By DMZ10239 |

This noisy and very crowded establishment was our last stop of the day. We were anxious to try our first ever Chicago-style deep dish pizza. We weren't impressed. The crust was crisp and it had a generous helping of toppings. The only thing it was lacking was flavor. No garlic, no seasonings, nothing. It was simply bland. We ordered a large pizza (8 slices) for four adults (34 dollars) and didn't finish it. Two of us didn't bother with a second piece. They do have a full menu besides pizza and the tables were always full so perhaps the rest of their food is great.

Quick bite

By Malibubebe |

This is just for the takeout side. It was ok. We got preboxed cheese and pepperoni personal pizza. The crust was burnt and dry. The pizza was okay. This was thin crust and not deep dish. A bit disappointing.

Quiet Bar

By Dee A |

Sat at the bar and had a deep dish pizza and a glass of wine. Nothing overly good or bad. Service was fine. Food was ok. I would try something else the next time.

Come for the pizza, stay to meet the Chach

By melanie g |

Amazing deep dish, delicious cocktails, and then meeting the inspirational, motivational, wise, and entertaining Chach! What an amazing and special person he is. Make sure to reserve in his section.

Let's try Chicago deep dish

By Stephanie J |

I'm here in Chicago and one of the must do items is eat a deep dish pizza. So our first stop Pizano's Pizza. The pizza had a great flavor. But the crust wasnt as deep as I was expecting. I love black olives and beef. The beef had a fresh taste. What I love about the pizza is that it was not heavy laden with tomato sauce. I think it was crushed tomatoes placed on top of the cheese. A cool concept compared to traditional chain restaurant pizzas. The atmosphere was cool, it's a large restaurant/bar. They welcome large parties. The wait staff were friendly. The bathrooms were a hot mess, they should consider doing routine checks to clean the bathroom. (It bothers me that adult women don't clean up behind themselves). We also shared a large house salad, there were no complaints with that, it had fresh ingredients which is always great. There was patio seating which is nice because you can see and hear the sounds of the city. I liked my experience, but I will try deep dish at a another place before I leave Chicago.

Classic deep dish under the L

By jdkrome |

Straight from seeing Hamilton, and still euphoric from the show, we hunger at 10pm. A short walk from CIBC, Pizano's was still full and getting fuller at that time (A game had also just let out). We split a Ceasar (yummy) and got a medium dd for two of us (mistake - should have gotten the small). BUt boy, was it yummy. JUst perfect - nice crust that really held up to the heavy sauce and cheese, not too much cheese, and a very flavorful sauce.

Great Pizza

By David M |

We sat at the bar. The service and food were excellent. We ate here a little later on a Saturday night and had to wait just a few minutes to get a seat.

Convenient deep dish pizza ready to go

By Ken F |

Walking between attractions and wanted a deep dish pizza for lunch before going to the Chicago institute of Arts. Did not wanted to wait 45 minutes for a pie, The server suggested going and getting a ready made pie to go and eat it in the park. That worked out great, they had a choice of cheese, sausage or pepperoni personal sizes to choose from. Pie was still warm and off to the park we went. If you are in the area around lunch time, Great place to stop for a bite.

Awesome local pizza experience

By Latvian_dude |

Very busy place Lively atmosphere Pretty nice interior Rather long waiting times Central location right by the Millenium Park Pizzas of various sizes

Amazing!!

By Christine F |

The Chach made my night! There is no one like him! So real, so honest, an entertainer! The food was great but the experience with Chach made the evening phenomenal!! Thank you Chach!!!

Atmosphere and Taste

By JustGo |

Super cute little bar/pizza place. The atmostpher feels exactly like what you'd expect from a mom and pop place in Chicago. We were there on a windy December night and the moment we walked in, it was warm and full of spirit. We were greeted immediately and noticed the place was FULL. Tables are packed in there and not a lot of room for staff to walk between - however everyone was having a great time. We decided to take our pizza to go - although would've loved to have had a table. Pizza was amazing! We ordered the classic Chicago style and ate every bite, mmmm-ing the whole time.

Delicious and very filling

By Pattie S |

My husband and I walked over from our hotel to try the deep dish pizza here, and we weren't disappointed. It was excellent! Very tasty. Service was good. The location is great, very convenient. The only thing we did wrong was to order a medium instead of the small. Our eyes were too big!

Always reliable.

By peter k |

This is my go to restaurant in Chicago. The food and the service is first class and the prices are very reasonable.More often than not there are long lines of customers waiting for a table , so it might pay to come relatively early or late.

Great pizza and atmosphere

By MichaelKohn1 |

Always great here. By myself so sat at the bar and watched football. Great beer selections, service, pizza. Allow a little longer for deep dish. This is my go-to in Chicago.

Tasty Chicago Pizza

By Kitty M |

We were recommended to eat real Chicago pizza by an engineer who works at the Palmer House and he was so right about this local joint. The interior is a charming casual setting and the staff were very friendly. There was no wait and the place smelled so good! I knew we were going to get a good meal due to the yummy aromas wafting through the restaurant. We understood that it takes a while to cook a deep dish pizza so we ordered an appetizer of cheesy garlic bread and enjoyed great conversation as we ignored the calorie count of the bread that was loaded with melted cheese. We ordered the sausage and mushroom pizza and it was delicious! I thought the crust would be soft but it was delightfully crisp and was so large that we could not finish it. It said it would feed two people but they must estimate it for extremely hungry people! Our waiter was efficient and refilled beverages before we needed to ask. I would definitely recommend this place!

Decent Deep dish

By Kristen S |

My son selected this place, a 15 minute walk from our hotel. The place was busy but not wall to wall packed so we were able to get a table right away. They still had Christmas decorations up including a Christmas tree. We ordered deep dish pizzas, one pepperoni and one w/ no cheese. The request for no cheese didn't phase them at all which was nice. They were also kind enough to let us know suggest an appropriately sized pizza for the number of people who would be sharing it. We had originally ordered a large which would have been WAY too much. The pizza was good with crisp crust and lots of cheese. They also did a good job on the cheese free pizza and added enough sauce so that it wasn't dry. The service was fine but once we ordered, they really didn't come back to check on us again. And, after bringing the food, the waiter took off before i could order a glass of wine. By the time he came back, we were pretty much done and I could see that my family wasn't willing to wait while I sipped wine. It would have been nice if he would have checked in to see if we wanted anything else. Lastly, the kids ordered a deep dish cookie for dessert and asked for the ice cream on the side (one kid doesn't eat dairy). The were happy to put the ice cream on the side but doused the cookie in whipped cream. I can't really fault them as I didn't ask for the whipped cream on the side. Oh well, live and learn. Overall, a decent place but definitely not the best I ever had.

MY FAV in Chicago! Strong Drinks!

By Karen M |

Always love the thin crust at Pizano's! My favorite in Chicago when I visit. Our server was wonderful and friendly, and the drinks are strong and tasty!

great pizza

This is top 5 pizzas in Chicago! you got to have the stuffed here it is amazing. walking distance from millennium park.

Chicago deep dish

By Jeff S |

In Chicago and you have to try a deep dish pizza. This place is great, good atmosphere, staff excellent and customers very friendly. You will wait 30mins for pizza but worth the wait, different from flat pizza it’s more like a pie but very tasty. Plenty of beer on tap and rest of menu v.g. Well worth a visit, we went twice in 3 days. Also good for sports.

Very, very good

By Tim H |

This is as advertised. Some of the best thin crust pizza we've ever had. Cristal our waitress was awesome. We will visit again.

Great decor and good food

By SS1971 |

This feels like a bar you could imagine seeing Sinatra at in the 50’s. Nice decor and quite busy - which says something I think. Pizza was solid - both the Chicago style and then thin one the kids wanted to try. We also had appetizers that were good. Service was okay but for the first 10+ minutes wait staff just walked by and didn’t even look at us. One guy walked about four times - never even took his hands out of his pockets. We couldn’t figure out what he did. Once our waiter did show up he did a fine job and kept us reasonably refilled on drinks. I’d suggest going early to beat the rush.

Loved the deep dish

By Jennifer H |

Came here at 7:30 pm on a Friday light and got seated right away. We ordered one deep dish and one thin. Both were amazing. The deep dish was my favorite. They told us it would be 45 mins to make but it was out in 25. Service was ok, limited wine selection but they had some good local beers on draft. We went with our two kids who are 10 and 13. The atmosphere was casual and laidback.

Yummy

By Yvette |

Really enjoyed our visit here and the original Chicago pizza was out of this world. Lovely atmosphere and service. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Excellent Pizza...great atmosphere

By jaes27 |

Love that atmosphere of this place!! I was in town with my family for vacation and met a realative who lives in Chicago here. It was his recocomendation!! We had 2 thin crust pizzas and the crust was amazing!!! Me and a couple others are allergic to dairy so we ordered the pizza without cheese and it was delish!!! We ate at another pizza place while in chicago and enjoyed this one much better!! Our server was fantastic as well!!!

Great Food and Service!

By TMD0307 |

A group of 11 of us had lunch and drinks at Pizano's in the Loop. Making the reservation was a breeze and all the staff were helpful and courteous. The food was amazing and let me just tell you if you like garlic, I highly recommend that you order a thin crust sausage and garlic pizza ~ it was AMAZING. The pizza crust is like no others! Our group had appetizers: Fried Calamari, Toasted Ravioli, Bruschetta and Buffalo Wings. All were great and then some ordered and shared pizza and others had sandwiches. All of the food was great and not one person complained. The drinks were great as well. We will definitely be going back!

Pizza to try but terrible Service

By Juni |

We went to this restaurant to taste the famous deep dish pizza. The pizza was ok although not amazing, however the Service was really unsympathetic and deplorable.

Chicago Deep Dish

By beachgirl32963 |

On the last night of our vacation, we had yet to have Chicago Deep Dish pizza and this was convenient on our way to the hotel after a walk from the Field museum. We started with soup which was tasty and fresh. When our pizza arrived, it did not disappoint! The crust was “crusty” and the toppings (mushroom and onions) fresh. We arrived just before the dinner rush and were seated right away, but the restaurant got busy. The tables were a little close and the restaurant a bit noisy so don’t expect fine dining. We thought this was a genuine experience and enjoyed our dinner so we would recommend and return for a Chicago Deep Dish!

Pizza

By SouthsideEddie |

Visited this restaurant on a couple of occasions and had both the deep dish and the thin crust pizza. The portions were too generous for me and I had to take the left overs back to my hotel. The bar seems to be well stocked catering for every taste in alcohol Recommended

Great neighborhood authentic pizza and pasta restaurant

By tmeredith_wv1 |

We were in town for the George Straight concert. Stopped in on a Friday night, very busy so we sat at the bar placed our oder for takeout. Jeff, our bartender was upfront about the wait time for our food due to staffing. We had a few drinks so that passed the time nicely. Ordered thin crust pepperoni, thin crust Mark' special and rigatoni with vodka sauce chicken. Walked a ock back to our condo. The food was delicious. Btw, Jeff was an excellent bartender.

Not recommendable at all

By Karin W |

The staff was very unfriendly. They placed us next to the very noisy kitchen, despite there were so many empty tables at the outside (and we explicitly asked for sitting outside). They weren't making any effort to meet any of our requests... seemed like a very spoiled restaurant because it's in the tourist area.

Good eats.

By Eric P |

It was a bit crowded inside, but hey, its Chicago. Food was excellent, service was solid. Price was on par with typical Chicago pricing.

Deep Dish Pizza!

By cazcindy |

Pizano's was the first stop on our food tour. We were treated to both a deep dish pizza and thin crust. I learned that deep dish isn't all dough but buttery, thin and crispy-more like pie crust. I love pizza and both samples were excellent. I only wish I wasn't leaving the next day so I could have enjoyed either lunch or dinner there after the food tour.

A great place to stop in for lunch.

By Gayle |

Great stop on my day of exploring the city. What a fun place to stop. Had an individual deep dish pizza and cocktail. The staff is friendly.

Pizano’s- Chicago style pizza done right!

By AliGndaHouse |

Smaller restaurant & great atmosphere with a Chicago sports theme. Great deep dish pizza & garlic bread. Family friendly as well.

Poor Pizza

By Max M |

Truly terrible pizza which arrived on a cardboard base. Was not freshly made and had a base like a stale biscuit.

Great place

By p0719h |

Great place to visit while in Chicago. The food was great. Lots of sports memorabilia to look at and the staff was friendly and fast.

The Chach

By WaiPRUSA |

Food: The best deep dish we've had. Tasty and cooked to perfection. We also ordered a thin crust pie, which was very good too. I also recommend ordering the Annette's Cookie desert. Delicious! Service: Little did we know, but we were served by a local celebrity. The one and only "The Chach" or "Uncle Chach". He has been working at this restaurant for over 50 years. Google him. We had a nice chat and even made us "family". Atmosphere: As soon as you walk in the look and feeling of that "good ol' pizza joint" comes at you. They have hundreds of pictures and memorabilia on their walls. Cost: $100+ with tip. Overall: This will be a place to return the next time we comeback to Chicago. Hopefully we can see "The Chach" again.

Late dinner

By C-lazy-S |

Dropped in after a river cruise. Had to try the deep dish pizza once while in Chicago. Had the pepperoni with mushroom, tasted good. Good service, bar was busy with a Monday night football crowd.

Uncle Chachi

By Darrin945 |

We loved everything about this place! The food, the decor, and the service. All top notch and glad we stumbled upon this place. When you go ask for Uncle Chachi, he will take great care of you.

Italian home style

By Tyrone H |

Great atmosphere and an excellent menu. Everything is made even better by the great service. A great place to try deep dish pizza.

The Chach

By Kentessa H |

From the moment we sat down, The Chach made sure that we were well taken care of. Superb, friendly service! The pizza is hard to beat as well!

It's a good time because of Chach!

By Sedena W |

Nice relaxing atmosphere. Delicious pizza and salad. We had a type of dessert that was delicious as well. It was our first time having authentic Chicago deep-dish.

Disappointed.

By NorthWoodsWanderer |

Had a small deep dish pizza to go. The crust was overdone, burnt on the edges and hard. Not even a little chewy. If they wanted to avoid a doughy crust they certainly succeeded. I love a good crust so this was very disappointing. Had I been eating in the restaurant I would have sent it back. The toppings and sauce were fine, but not exceptional. After reading other reviews I was expecting more.

Deep Dish Deeply Satisfying

By Julie K |

Traveling family of six looking for dining spot prior to Hamilton theater night out. Scouted neighborhood the day before and this place had nostalgia and a full house. We made reservations for next day and requested a corner window seat w large table. Staff was very accommodating. Pizza was fabulous. We had a couple kids in our group who’d never had deep dish but who gave it a big thumbs up. From adult perspective it earned its pizza raves and awards. Delicious. Chicken Marsala also got kudos. Would definitely return.

A Wonderful Meal and Experience

By dunadan |

We came here for the obligatory Chicago deep dish pizza experience--and loved it! Our family of three shared a salad, my wife had a good cocktail, and we split a pizza--which was fantastic (to this deep-dish neophyte, anyway). Nice tomatoey flavor, crunchy buttery crust, and great toppings. Delicious! What really made the evening, however, was our fantastic server, Bobby, who went out of his way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. He was friendly and helpful, and prompt with water fill-ups and checking in on us. Really exceptional service.

Great calamari!

By Khammel |

They found a way! With a busy volleyball tournament they were able to get a large group in and get us in and out. They also had great calamari!!!! Felt like it was a good Chicago vibe. Pizza was also great. Thanks again

First Time Deep Dish

By MrMCNY |

First time in Chicago, we had to try the deep dish pizza for 2. They said it would take about 25 minutes to cook so we started off with the cheesy garlic bread. Both were delicious. I went in hungry and now I feel like I’m going to bust. Also our server Jessica was right on everything and even talked us down from the 3 serving pizza, which was just the right call. Went on a Wednesday at 2, no wait.

Good neighborhood pizza

By PepePitMD |

Still has the feel of a neighborhood pizza parlor. Great pizza made from scratch. Service was very good. Will be back

Not bad for my first deep dish pizza in Chicago

By knittermom |

Ate here for the first time recently and sat outside during a lovely evening. Ordered a deep dish pizza to share and the small was just enough for the two of us. Good crunchy crust, well placed and portioned toppings, and super fresh tasting sauce. Only complaint is the wobbly table, uncomfortable chairs, and slightly over eager waitstaff who wanted our drinks order before we even opened a menu.

Pizza ok but just awful service ruined the experience

By Ang S |

Visiting Chicago we wanted to try the deep dish pizza. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated (the waitresses were sipping soda and chatting behind the bar), At this point I wanted to leave but my son was hungry so we stayed. We enjoyed the pizza, but after trying Giordanos pizza which was so much better, we realized that the pizza was actually subpar. When wanting to pay, I waved to the waitress who again was chatting behind the bar and asked for the check, to which she responded loud enough for us to hear “god I didn’t know that people shouted in this place” - I honestly did not shout, I called out to her in a really nice way. Anyway she slapped the bill on the table and walked off. I stood up to put my jacket on and the manager asked if I needed anything, I said no thanks we just needed to pay. The waitress stormed up and said “god I only just left the check on the table a minute ago!” I tried to explain that I was not complaining but she was just so rude. It really ruined the whole experience and I felt so awful after that. But fortunately all the restaurants that we have been to since then have been super friendly and nice ( Giordanos, The CheeseCake Factory, Portillo’s, The Pancake house and a few more).

Great Food, Open Late

By TheFridayFeature |

We have visited this location several times while traveling to Chicago. The location is open late and serves great food. The individual pizza is a deal for the price. The meat sauce for pasta is good as well.

Great pizza and cery convenient to many Loop hotels

By jcc98199 |

I ordered take out and it was great (there is delivery and in-facility dining available. The four block walk t=from my hotel got me ready to eat. The medium pizza will serve 3-4 and I did not see a smaller option. My surprise was the garlic spinach which was perfection (again the size was large). Good website which is easy to use.

Excellent Deep Dish

By DKPuck |

They were busy when we arrived but had us seated in 20 min. Allowed to put in order before seating so didn't wait all that long for the pizza. Very good deep dish pizza! Highly recommended!

Touristy location

By GKBrash |

Boss wanted to go to Pizano’s in the loop. Before we went down I called to see if they took reservations...they do. Took the EL in just because it was the Loop and parking would be crazy and expensive. We arrived a bit early so we had to wait at the bar for a few minutes, but the hostess got us to our table about 15 minutes early. We looked over the extensive menu, and they do have a ton of Italian dining options, but we were there for the pizza. We decided to get a medium “world famous gourmet deep dish pizza”, and a medium thin crust for comparison. Just for full disclosure I did live in Chicago for 32 years and I did have my fair share for deep dish pizzas during that time period. We had sausage, pepperoni, green peppers and Canadian bacon on both. It took about 35 minutes to get the pizzas to the table. The pizzas were served nice and hot with lots cheese and plenty of ingredients on top. The crust on both was a bit crunchier than I was used to for a pizza. I think that they use a cornmeal base which makes it crispier and at a time a little harder to cut through. The pizza was good, but based on past experience it was no better, and no worse, than other deep dish pizza offering from chains in Chicago. I preferred the thin crust to the deep dish. This location is about 1 block from Millennium Park so you get a goodly number of tourists eating here. They do have a full bar with many TV’s dispersed throughout the establishment. If you are a walk in during a busy time be prepared to wait.

Pizza and beer in a friendly atmosphere

By ChumpireFanzine |

It sounded like a good place to have a pizza dinner between Uniqlo and our hotel. We sat at the bar. They have enough beers on tap to keep a drinker happy. The service was fast and friendly. The bartender let us know we would have a 25-minute wait for a deep dish pizza. We had our beverages, watched Little League World Series on one of the TVs and chatted. The restaurant was well-staffed and busy. We had a basic pizza, but a house specialty. It was tasty. The bartender served us our first slices. The bill for a medium pizza, two beers and a soda was reasonable. I would go again.

Great place great pizza

By Robert W |

What can you say,Chicago deep pan pizza Excellent. What a great experience in Pizano’s for pizza and drinks before exploring the city, just round the corner from cloud gate. The pizza was epic deep crispy plenty of sauce service was great too nothing too much trouble. I’d have pizza from here every time, but not sure they deliver to the UK 😁 Definitely worth a visit

Great deep dish

By 03040810 |

I am not usually a huge fan of deep dish (often too heavy or greasy) but this was delicious. The crust was buttery, but light and crunchy. The tomato sauce was very fresh tasting (more like fresh tomatoes). The cheese was fairly thick, but the mozzarella also tasted very fresh, so I didn't feel completely laden down after eating. Fun place, great service, and delicious pizza!

OK deep dish pizza

By FranklinLaGax |

My friend raved about this pizza before and when the moment finally came and we went out to eat the deep dish I wasn't that fascinated tbh. I've eaten better Pizza before. A lot better. But I guess this is just a personal thing for everyone. Service was friendly and efficient.

Great deep dish pizza

By phvi2617 |

After trying many of the other deep dish chains, I thought I'd try Pizano's. I had a personal with pepperoni, green peppers, and olives, which was delicious. The crust reminded me a bit of Uno's deep dish. The location is great, right between the Washington & Wabash L Station and Millennium Park, and service was great. Although I took my pizza to go, the atmosphere in the dining room was warm and inviting.

Could Have Been Better

By nycgal529 |

We planned on trying a different pizza place every day while on our trip. Pizano's was "on the list," but not necessarily the top of the list. We had a City Tour at 10:30 am and we asked our tour guide his favorite - Pizano's. We decided to go there first. We ordered a small sausage deep dish to split and an order of mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were nothing special. To me, they were something that I could have made in my toaster oven. (We had some at another place that were outstanding.) We found the pizza to be very bland - especially the crust. It was almost "pasty" to me. I was a bit disappointed in my first Chicago Deep Dish.

Rude Service/Food Never Came

By Badgerman1998 |

Ordered for delivery at our hotel at the recommendation of our concierge. Food never showed up. Never received a call or email despite them having both. When I called I was told they could now bring our food but it would take another 45 minutes to receive our food, which would them have already been 2 hours old. Woman on the p hi one was extremely rude. If you're in Chicago pass on Pizano's.

Ok deep dish

By Alwxa |

I gave my Windy City deep dish experience to this place and ... it was ok. The dough was really tasty but needed salt, and the filling was ... ok. Not bad, just ok. The friendly bar service was good. I’d give it another try.....but I was honestly hoping for better.

Terrible, nonexistent service, rude staff

By Mcv |

I was in Chicago for the first time with two of my friends, so we wanted to try the deep dish pizza. After walking around the city in the heat, we were pretty hungry and thirsty and Pizano’s looked like a great place to eat. The problems started before we even got inside. As we approached the staff outside, they just stared at us. They didn’t greet us or give us instructions about who to talk to about being seated. After staring at us for a bit, one of them pointed inside. We went in and the hostess didn’t even acknowledge us. We went up and asked for a table and were immediately seated. This was the only positive part of the entire experience. We sat at our table and waited for our server....and waited...and waited. At this point, all I could think about was just getting a d*mn glass of water because I was so thirsty, but no one even came by to take our drink orders or to even tell us they’d be with us soon. I thought maybe they forgot about us, but once I made eye contact with the hostess several times, it became clear that they knew we were here. We stuck around for about 15 minutes and no one came to serve us, we left. As we left, one of the waitresses who was just standing around doing nothing by the door said “thank you!” to us, and I’m not sure if she meant it to be mocking, but it sure felt like it was. If I could give Pizano’s zero stars I would, because they gave zero sh*ts about us. Never go here. Go to Giordano’s instead. We had fantastic service there, a super friendly waitress, and amazing pizza.

Our Favorite Chicago Pizza

By JohnnyJayhawk |

A Chicago-native tipped us off to Pizano's. He said, "You'll think I'm crazy, but order their thin crust". Holy moly he was right. Can't tell you how good the deep dish is, because we've never ordered it after going thin crust from day one. The quality of the cheese and toppings is top notch. The buttery, crunchy crust...oh my. Might have to order a frozen one shipped to me now. We've tried a couple pasta dishes too. Never been disappointed.

Really good pizza!

By grants5503 |

Went here with family for lunch after checking out Millennium park. It was summertime so we chose to eat outside for the "Chicago Experience". We ordered different kinds of pizza, salad, appetizers, and it was all very yummy. Would not hesitate to go here again. All of the food we had was really good. Staff was warm, friendly, efficient, took good care of us without being intrusive. Just plan to wait at least 30 min for the pizza as each one is cooked fresh. The crust was amazing!

Rude waitress

By NONE N |

I sat down was unaware of rules for outside drinks the waitress yelled at me about the drink. Basically saying I had two choices drink it or throw it out. Everyone knew what was happening. I told her she can be discreet and she became combative and rude nasty waitress she knows who she is

Not what I expected

By Iain D |

First visit to Chicago and had to try a Deep Dish Pizza. Not meaning to offend but that is not a pizza, Might have been a bad representation of the cuisine but the pastry was thick and under cooked/soggy in parts, filling and cheese merged into a bland taste, overall was disappointed. Life is for experiencing new places, tastes etc but I will definitely stick to thin crust pizza in the future.

So much more than pizza!!!

By chrisadonald |

Went for pizza, but the menu had so much good sounding food we never had it. The environment is a little cheesy, but the food amazing and the staff were great. Went back on our last night in Chicago because it had been the best meal we had had all week.

Great location, good pizza

By cheeseheadfamilyof4 |

We didn't want to walk to Gino's, which is our favorite pizza when in Chicago. So, we thought we'd try this. The dough was good, but it needed more salt. Toppings were great. It was certainly good, but not what I expect Chicago pizza to be. Great location, however.

Top 2 pizza

By Y2CLL |

Ate here one evening and preferred the more crispy style base and less cheese to another chain in Chicago beginning with a G! As always it seems you need to wait for a table and pre-order your pizza as they take a while to cook. However very tasty and would return.

Dining experience with the Chach

By Julian140 |

Busy restaurant and visit made by our waiter who called himself the Chach. What a character.. great service great stories free dessert and great well deserved trip . Had house pizza which frankly was average(very crusty and overcooked) but didnt matter as overall experience was great

Expensive lunch

By Jennifer H |

We visited during lunch. While we were seated quickly, it took a long while for our waitress to come to the table. I had seen multiple servers standing at the back, some made eye contact but still nobody came for closer to 7 ish minutes. Did not see a lunch menu. We had fried ravioli and liked them. Also had a deep dish sausage pizza and felt it was just ok. The crust was very hard and difficult to cut. I also had the fettuccini Alfredo and was great. During the meal I had to request refills as the waitress would come to the table set something down next to an empty cup and then walk off. This is our first visit to Chicago and if returning, I’d consider eating here again but probably wouldn’t be at the top of my list.

Authentic Deep Dish Pizza

By lmclaughlin8 |

This place was a real find. We stayed in the Theater district in Chicago and walked 4 blocks to Pizano's. The atmosphere was great but the pizza was fabulous. We tried the calamari and split a small deep dish pizza. LOVED it!! Plenty for 2 people and was reasonably priced.

Uncle Chach brightened our stay!

By Ruth T |

Love Pizano’s in the loop! We try to eat there every time we visit Chicago. Enjoyed amazing chicken cacciatore this go ‘round. And blessed to have “Uncle Chach” as our server!

Nostalgic

By momoboys_12 |

The deep dish pizza is as good as it always has been. The thin Chicago pizza is also excellent. It made for a great experience to introduce my grandchildren to Chicago pizza.

Great service, average pizza

By Team_Maltese |

Our experience was on a late Saturday evening with a full restaurant. We were seated after a brief wait of twenty minutes, which was neither unusual nor unexpected. The wait staff promptly took our food and drink order, and our beverages arrived quickly. We had a staff visit to announce the halfway mark for our pizza, which was a nice touch since it typically takes at least thirty minutes to bake a deep dish Chicago style pizza. The pizza arrived and looked wonderful. However, the sauce was sparse and lacking flavor, and the crust was hard as a rock, flavorless, and resembled bisquick more than any type of a raised yeast dough crust. We ate most of it, but I think we will try the thin crust next time. The reviews for this place seem to indicate that the service and food quality aren't consistent and your experience may vary. It could also indicate that everyone has different tastes, expectations, and standards by which to compare flavors, texture and service. Whatever the case may be, we certainly hope you enjoy your visit here and find something positive in your experience :-)

Must have when in Chicago

By Bernie C |

Friday night visit and the restaurant was jumping! Very good service for such a busy night. The atmosphere was great and the food just what we were looking for.

Delicious Food

By Sara W |

The food was great and the service was excellent. It’s in a convenient location. Will definitely go back the time time I am in Chicago.

Must try

By Wendy M |

First restaurant we chose & so happy we did! Family had personal pan pizzas, chicken parmigiana sandwich & I had the Italian Sausage sandwich w/hot peppers! Our food was SO GOOD I would highly recommend

Horrible service, food is not much better

By Neil P |

Two people for dinner on a friday night. We asked the waiter for a starter recommendation, his response was "they are all listed on the menu". It went downhill from there. Food was not better than Olive Garden- pasta overcooked, under sauced, bland. We both had pasta, one red meat sauce, one white. We ordered the garlic bread- it was terrible. Some bread with a very little bit of cheese on it. Not one taste of garlic. Just lousy. And its not inexpensive. Maybe the pizza is good. Never again will I enter this place.

Stephanie was the best! Great

By Cristyn C |

Stephanie was the best! Great food and great service. We had the thing crust pizza, it was the best thing crust pizza we’ve ever had!

Great atmosphere

By radek_chodura |

Amazing staff, great atmosphere, really tasty food. Maybe just a wrong timing (Sunday, 1pm) but the place was extremely busy, so sitting close to the entrance was a bit difficult ... Anyway, the whole family (2 and 5 years old kids) really enjoyed it and that’s the most important 😀. Will definitely come back if will have the chance ...

Great option.

By RJVFM |

Great spot. Seems genuine in the food they deliver. Yummy options all through the menu. Felt the service could have been more personal but atmosphere made up for it. Definitely worth a visit if you’re staying nearby.

Giving Thanks

By rubyacres |

The highlight of every trip to Chicago is a visit with The Chach at Pizanos. This year we arrived on Thanksgiving day and were delighted to have dinner with the best waiter in town. We had tortellini soup, deep dish pizza and spumoni for dessert - all delicious. The Chach made us feel at home as always and introduced us to patrons at nearby tables. Already looking forward to next year.

Dinner visit.

By Russell W |

I visited during a snowy night and was greeted upon entering. I was sat at the bar and was presented with a menu. I ordered a beverage and reviewed the menu. I addressed the server with some menu questions which they quickly addressed. I ordered a pasta dish that was a large portion that included fresh bread. The staff were friendly and the food was freshly prepared. I would visit the location again.

OK pizza

By momoboys_12 |

We ordered a thin Chicago style pizza and several other dishes for our family group. The pizza was just OK, not great. The pasta was less than average. Service was spotty at best. We will not rush back.

The Chach!

By drafted002 |

An amazing experience like no other. Amazing pizza and breadsticks! Both of our favorite beers on tap (Peroni and Modelo). And we met the man, the myth, the legend, The Chach. Hands down the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had.

Good food and service

By Peter H |

Really good location in the Loop and a lovely setting with tons of sporting memorabilia on all the walls (could have spent the entire evening poking around them all). Very good service and good food, especially the deep dish pizza.

Good pizza

By Teresa M |

We had thin crust and deep dish pizza. They were both good but not great. The pasta was good as well. Bathrooms were clean. Service was good.

Good Pizza Bad Service

By Jennifer B |

Don’t go when crowded. This was a favorite place. We love the pizza. We knew it was busy but were told 40 minutes. We had 2.5 hours until a show. After 45 minutes I asked and was told we were next and our table was being cleared. After 55 minutes I asked again and was told we were next and they were clearing the table. I didn’t believe them at this point. The man offered us to sit outside. That would have been nice an hour before, but at this point we thought we’d be seated inside soon. He raised his voice at me like he was offering me something so what’s the problem? The problem is he kept lying about a table being almost ready. Then a tall man in a cubs hat took over. He told me reservations come first. No onevtoldvys this before. If we had known it could be over an hour, we would have gone somewhere else. He said that being next could mean 20 minutes. But we were told they were clearing the table twice. More lies. Then the manager Giovannia ? Came out and she was worse. She raised her voice at me so I raised mine at her. She told me to leave and that she was taking my name off the list . Then asked my name and I refused. Then she told me she was asking to help me. More lies. Another group had reservations and were waiting 30 minutes. We left. We really liked it there so it was disappointing to be treated that way.

Chicago Deep Dish Pizza

By J C |

Busy place, we just popped in from the street for a bite in the evening, waited in the bar for 25 minutes with a nice Old Fashioned, and then we got the table. We were told upfront that the pizza would take about 30 minutes, which was not a problem for us. Only had the Deep Dish Pizza, but that was very good. Overall I would recommend it, not fine dining of course but great pizza and great atmosphere.

Bad experience. Expected more

By Nathan D |

Ate there with my wife because we didnt want to wait 30 min at the more popular Giordano pizza. It said it has been there for 60 years so we thought it would be good. Sadly disappointed. Extremely cold in there where they sat us in the back room. We ordered a house salad, chicken wings and a deep dish Rudy's special. The salad was basically lettuce with dressing. Nothing fancy or tasty. Dont get it. It's just iceberg lettuce with a few thin strips of carrots and some croutons. Not tasty at all. The chicken wings we got were supposed to be medium hot. Not hot at all. Temp was barely warm and the sauce had almost no heat to it. The deep dish pizza seemed to be burnt all around the crust and u could not taste any cheese. It was like some just dumped a can of tomato paste with chunks of tomatoes on the top of the pizza. That's all u could taste. Not what I was hoping for. The last time I ate at Giordanos the pizza was delicious and the crust nice a flaky. That was a experience. This place not so much. Our waiter was not very attentive either but I'm mainly rating this place by food. If I included the service I might give it a lower rating. I know it sucks to wait 30 mins for a seat at giordanos and then another 30 to 45 mins for pizza bit its definitely worth the wait. I would not come back here again. I like pizza of all kinds thick crust, thin crust, hand tossed etc, but this place was just not good at all!! Go somewhere else. I'd rather order dominos or some other pizza chain way before coming here. Do yourself a favor. Go somewhere else.

Great taste, great at atmosphere

By Not_Amish |

Visited recently while on a business trip. Pizanos's provided me with my first taste of deep dish Chicago pizza. I was actually pleased with how fresh and light the pizza tasted, delicious. Good beer selection as well. The atmosphere was warm and not at all 'corporate' as I thought it might be. I do think the pizza and the beer were a bit overpriced, but I would still stop in for a bite.

Good stop little pricey

By Kevin E |

The do have a few- very well done gluten free options here, always make sure we stop here when in Chicago

Awesome pizza!

By Jodi B |

We ordered the thin crust pizza (apparently it’s Oprah’s favorite) and we can see why. It was delicious! My daughter ordered Alfredo pasta and that was very good as well. Our waiter was very pleasant and took good care of us. Pizzas take about 30-40 mins to bake, but well worth the wait!

Great time. Outstanding puzza

By AlfredoMartin |

We brought 16 of our business colleagues, and we had an outstanding dinner. We ordered several pizzas from deep-pan to vegetarian. Every pizza was served to perfection. Service was outstanding. We had theater tickets. Service was prompt, and we made it to the theater (walking distance) in plenty of time. The restaurant was full, which in my mind it's a good indication of good food. We really enjoyed our dinner.

Very good pizza and Italian Beef sandwich

By Clarkston_Rambler |

Thin crust pizza was very tasty, a little light on the pepperoni. The Italian Beef sandwich was outstanding, plenty of tender thin sliced beef with a tasty hot pepper mix that made me sneeze (the ultimate compliment in spice).

great deep dish pizza

By Jay S |

Wonderful service and food. Not cheap. I highly recommend the deep dish pizza. My daughter had a thin crust but I didn't care for it.

Italian Gem in the Loop

By dctravel |

Needed a good, quick meal before heading to the airport. Sat at the bar and the bartender was great. Since I was in a bit of a rush, she recommended the ravioli, as the pizza took on average 30 minutes to make. I got the spinach and cheese. They came out quickly and were very good. Glad to I decided to stop in!

Excellent food

By Kari L. |

I eat at Pizano’s once a year when I’m in town for Christmas. It’s my favorite pizza place in all of Chicago. Their pastas are very good as well. I think their garlic bread is to die for! I’ve never had a bad meal, which is why I keep going back. I’ve taken friends with me.

Dinner with family!

By dbcrim |

Great atmosphere. A place for the locals that is all about Chicago sports. Fantastic food! Cheesy and garlic cheese bread is great! Pizza , toasted ravioli, and lobster ravioli all magnificent. Best in Chicago!

Great food & The Chach

By Kevin E |

Had great gluten free cheese stuff raviolis, my husband has the regular ones and when he tried a piece of mine said he could barely taste a difference and they were both great. Then we got the bonus of getting waited on by the Chach- a Chicago loving legend of a waiter. So we got great food and entertainment at a good price. When in Chicago this is the place to stop and ask for The Chach and tell him K&J sent you .

Would not recommend for special diets.

By Kristie H |

Service was great. My daughter has a gluten allergy and although she ordered the gluten free pasta, she became sick within 10 minutes and 3 bites. We let the server know and she doubled check with the cook. We were not compensated and my daughter was miserably sick the rest of the night.

Best authentic Chicago deep dish pizza!

By Frank B |

Acccording to the menu, the founder, Rudy Malnatti Jr. is a direct descendant of the founder of the original Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. Well , Rudy Jr., your pizza beats the hell out of Al Malnatti! Best I have ever had.

Absolutely delicious - thin and deep dish!

By Allyyy8 |

We visited Pizano's on a pizza tour and loved it so much that we went back the following day to have it again. We tried both the deep dish and the thin tavern style crust and both are delicious. I'd recommend getting one of each! The sausage was an incredible topping and I can't stop thinking about it. Thankfully they ship!

Birthday Dinner Perfection

By Jodi C |

Probably have been here a dozen times and still love the pizza the best in all Chicago. Always a good experience and service fantastic (including our usual visit from Chauchie). Go for the pie, stay for the atmosphere and fun. Oh and free ice cream cookie cake on your birthday! <3

Really fun experience

By Maggi94 |

In town with my daughter for a college visit and thought we’d give this place a try for the deep dish pizza. I had a house salad which was quite nondescript except for the good Italian dressing on the side. We both really liked the deep dish cheese we shared (and my daughter is incredibly picky)- I liked the texture of the crust and it had just the right amount of cheese. Our waiter, The Chach, really made the evening. He is energetic, genuine and a ton of fun. It was a great dinner!

Pizza crust like no other and the cheese, just amazing.

By Val S |

Great service, wonderful pizza- the crust, oh my goodness. This was fabulous and the staff was so nice, perfect amount of attention. Provided a quaint homestyle filling. Definitely going back when I’m in down.

Great!

By golfgal32550 |

This restaurant was the first on our pizza tour. They have both thin and thick crust. It was my husbands favorite. We just had cheese and it was very flavorful !

Very happy with food and service

By Anthony R |

I’m giving this place 5 stars because they went above and beyond to make sure I had a good experience. I went in with just myself and my 8-month old son. They helped me get situated at the table and would pick up toys that my son kept dropping on the ground. The place was busy so my waiter gave me the heads up that pizza was going to take about 30 minutes, but I was determined and ordered it anyway. No regrets. Baby was well entertained and the waiter was looking out for us the entire time. Even other wait staff would help out if we dropped some toys or silverware on the ground. Oh, and the pizza was delicious! Deep dish but somehow with a nice crisp to the crust. I would definitely go back.

Favorite Chicago style thin pizza in the loop

By MiHoppingTheGlobe |

While everyone thinks of Chicago being known as a deep dish pizza city, we have amazing thin crust and Pizano's is my favorite buttery thin crust in the loop. I always like to pair it with a visit to Millennium Park or the Art Institute of Chicago.

Dinner in Chicago

Pizano’s was recommended by the doorman at a hotel we were walking by. It was a good tip. The pizza was delicious, the Caesar salad was delicious, and the bruschetta was delicious. Our waiter, Mike, was friendly and efficient.

Chicago Deep Dish stop

We walked over while in the Loop to try a deep dish pizza. We had seen good reviews and thought we’d give it a try - and we’re not disappointed. We had the Meat lovers and really enjoyed. Very friendly staff.

Good pizza

By Teresa M |

We had thin crust and deep dish pizza. They were both good but not great. The pasta was good as well.

Rude staff

By irishjohn79 |

This was our first time in Chicago and we had heard so many good things about the traditional Chicago Pizza Pie. As we were tired from the long flight from Europe and the restaurant was closing at 10pm, we popped in to buy a takeaway at 9.30pm. However the immediate greeting was rude and abrupt, “we are closed”. This was despite them doing takeaway until at least 4am. If we hadn’t a limited opportunity, we would have walked out. But we just politely responded and asked if they were still doing takeaway which of course they were. The pizza was fine although not sure we would go out of our way for another one and next back to this restaurant!

Fabulous cheesy deep dish pizza

By emilyinmichigan |

Service was excellent! My daughter (teen) and I were spending the weekend in Chicago and one thing on her list was a “Chicago-style” deep dish pizza. After a long day, we stopped in for dinner around 9:30. Our server was enthusiastic and helpful and the food was served fresh and delicious! My daughter described the atmosphere as being exactly the aesthetic she imagined :-) We shared a small pizza and some fries. The pizza was dripping with cheese - fantastic.

Average

By greeneyes630 |

Stopped in at the location across from Millennium Park for n a Saturday afternoon. Pizza is made fresh to order and you’re told it’s a 35 minute cook time. We got a medium thin crust with 2 topping and 2 iced teas, $41. Pizza was average compared to other places and cities.

So good

By Kari L. |

I like the deep dish pizza, but my absolute favorite thing is their spaghetti and garlic bread with cheese. I could make a meal out of their garlic bread and cheese.

Okay

By Srmccracken |

We ate a couple of pies and some drinks. Pizza is average , wait staff good, service getting food was slow, we ate outside because of a beautiful day. Was not cheap IMO Will not be back Probably won’t

Deep dish pizza is really tasty. Staff is friendly, location is great, right in the center of the city. The place is good for couples, friends and family.

My favorite thin crust pizza…bar none

By Wesley |

Used to live in Chicago for 18 years and took our friends here. Ordered a deep dish and thin crust and the entire group loved the pizza. They left fulfilled and happy. When going with a group, Highly recommend ordering a couple of pizzas, one deep dish and one thin crust. The thin crust is my favorite.

Absolutely dreadful food

By Pollilop |

Firstly, let me say that our server was lovely. We sat by the extremely noisy kitchen. The deep pan pizza was watery, flavourless (unless you count raw garlic). We asked for extra Basil, but it was shredded to within an inch of its life. The crust was inedible. The chicken Marsala was a little better but not much. The servers were sitting chatting (well, cursing actually), AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!

Quick Afternoon Pizza Break

By Donald M |

We had just gone through Soldier Field and wanted a quick, but authentic Chicago Pizza. This place serves the deep dish and the thin crust. We had the thin, but it was loaded with veggies and sausage. You need to wait 20-30 minutes for them to cook your pie. Each one is cooked fresh. The service was very good and the place made you feel like you were in downtown Chicago, so it was perfect.

Very tasty food

By Donovan O |

The deep dish pizzas are very good. Nice mix of textures in the crust and their sauce is amazing. The best dish is their fried ravioli was fantastic. Very lightly breaded and mixed with their sauce it delicious. Service was good, but the manager (hosting) can be quite direct.

Great Event Space for our Business Event

By TrainerMaven |

I hosted an event at Pizano's, on Madison recently. They have a really nice event space on the lower level of the restaurant. The event coordinator was very helpful and accommodating. She helped me select the menu and made sure we had gluten free options. We had quite a few attendees who had never tried deep dish pizza before. Everyone loved the pizza, including some thin crust options. In addition to food, we were provided drink options as well. The cost was very reasonable, the service was great, and the space was perfect for our needs. We will definitely consider hosting a future event in their event space. I highly recommend this option for your next large gathering. We had about 30 people with room to spare.

GREAT PIZZA IN THE LOOP

By TravelingChicks09 |

Love the pizza and the location of this restaurant. The atmosphere is old-world mafia, the service is friendly and the pizza is great. Visit here every time we're in Chicago. It has stiff competition, who's pizza is also very good, but this is not a chain and the pizza is worthy!

A pleasant surprise!

We were looking for a quick, late lunch while walking to the Art Institute and happened by Pizano's. We enjoyed our sidewalk table and Mike's excellent service. Loved our Rudy's thin-crust pizza! The medium was more than enough for two hearty eaters. The beer was cold, too. What's not to like?

Real Chicago Deep Dish

Wanted to try the thin pizza but it only comes in medium or large. Split a personal deep dish and salad and found it delicious. The revolving door in to the restaurant was rather noisy.

Great Chicago Thin Crust Pizza

After a long day of walking around downtown my son and I were looking for a pizza restaurant. We stumbled upon this location and decided to try it. We were seated promptly and our order was taken. We had the cheesy Italian bread and a medium thin crust sausage pizza. Both of these were great!! The pizza was so good! The staff was very prompt and attentive. The food was great. I would definitely return to Pizanos!

Delicious!

Went for a walk around our hotel looking for Dinner, and came across Pizano's. It was a Saturday night, but we were seated right away, and service was prompt. Ordered Bruschetta as our app, then stuck with pastas as our meal over pizza. Everything was delicious! Our table neighbors were locals and had ordered the deep dish, and they said it was one of the better places to get it in Chicago. We had gone to another place earlier in the trip for pizza (one that was supposedly the "original"), but we wished we had found Pizano's. So many other places are over crowded with too long lines, and they seem to be more of a tourist trap than actually having good food. We'd definitely come back to Pizano's on our next Chicago trip!

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

WORSE SERVICE IN CHICAGO. Went to 864 N State st. Went in to order breaded cheese sticks.carry out order. Paid 11 for 8 breaded cheese sticks. Didnt mind the price as much as the poor service. I sat down at one of the many open tables .. Was told I HAD to sit at the bar .. I do not drink . The place had plenty of open tables . So not sure why i HAD to sit at the bar ... If they were busy i would have understood why they insisted on this but they were not . With so many places to go in Chicago.. Do yourself a favor and spend ypur money elsewhere. Also the whole time a young 3 yr old child was running around screaming .. Not sure why this child was running loose at a bar ... WORSE PLACE IN CHICAGO. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE THEY WILL TREAT YOU GOOD . NOT SURE HOW THEY GOT THE REVIEWS THEY HAVE ..GUESSING RELATIVES MUST WRITE REVIEWS FOR THEM.

Nice surprise!

Amazing deep dish pizza

By Chris K |

We were recommended to come here for deep dish pizza and it really was amazing. We sat inside but there is also outside seating. The staff were very good and we found the food and drinks to be reasonably priced and the water topped up continually. We had the Bruschetta to start and that was tasty. Rudy's Special pizza was really amazing and tasted so good and we are glad we chose that one. We had one for two people and it was definitely enough for two. Wish I had of taken a picture of the pizza but couldn't wait to stat eating it! Really really recommend coming here for deep dish pizza.
