Pizaro's pizza is absolutely wonderful! If you're looking for the authentic Italian style pizza then this is the place to go. Not only do they take pride in their pizzas, sourcing many of the high quality ingredients from Italy, but they take pride in their customer service as well. Bill the owner, knows our family by name and often has helped to keep our little one occupied when she starts getting a little fussy. (We always try to go during off hours as to not annoy others) I'm sure he would know our 'regular' order if we had one, but we enjoy trying out all the different types of pizza including their wonderful dessert pizzas. (A must try is the pear and Gorgonzola) Just trying them for the first time? I recommend staying classic with the Margherita or the Fino. Like things spicy? Then you must ask for a side of the Calabrian Peppers.

We agree with the majority of diners this place has it as best a Texas restaurant will get for very close to authentic regional Italian pizza. If you have been to Italy, you will understand the simplicity of it. If not, you can enjoy something respectful of the tradition. The Napoletana is simple, crust is crispy and chewy at the same time and the toppings equally fresh and well portioned. if you are looking for a bloated, over crowded topping pizza go elsewhere. The Detroit style is more of a pizza bread, comes with dipping sauce and a different concept altogether. The New York style is more southern Italian, and the "Meat Market" all the best, with all the guilt. The miss here is the beer and wine. Dreadful. Houston has a complicated wine, beer and spirit distribution system unlike any other major city. Come on already, surely there is a Miller, Molson, or 10th and Blake rep out there that can get real Italian Peroni into this place along with local craft beer, and bright, fresh wines well suited for the menu. This well run and friendly place deserves good beer and wine even if they can't support traditional volume buys. Help this restaurant sell more beverages and they will reward you with more sales because customers deserve the full service even awful pizza places get. There has to be a smart supplier who can come up with great beverage parings. Please!!

This is one of my favorite pizza places in Houston for the pizza! It is great!! We had a small problem the last time we visited but manager took care of it right away!! They truly care about customers and their pizzas are excellent!!

One of the best white pizzas I have enjoyed anywhere including NYC or Italy. Dough was perfectly charred, the truffle oil drizzled around the top made this taste over the top. I have had white potato pizzas in Italy and NYC and I believe this one might be better. This is not a strong flavor but a buttery cheese flavor with light mushroom accents. It felt like eating a very light pizza with absolutely magical properties. For those of you who are not into subtleties , I would suggest having the Detroit style with pepperoni as it had a killer tomato sauce with heavy cheese flavor, and very mild pepperoni. Very crusty with good bite. But if you want something exquisite, go for the white potato one. Like any good Napolitano, this one will ship you off to Naples in your mind. The crust was ooie in the middle with elastic bite. Although very pricey pizzas for lunch, they do have lunch specials to hold the price down to $10.00 per head. But it will not be this white one. That day it was a NYC style with pepperoni. Three styles of pizza, Napoli, Detroit, and NYC. All are very very good.

I am not a fan of this style of pizza but my wife is. I like big ol' heavy on the toppings pizza - hence my love for Barry's. Having said that I liked it - I really liked it. And my wife LOVED it. I had the Campania - tomato sauce, roasted crimini mushrooms, artichokes, prosciutto cotto, black olives and mozzarella. The sauce was spicy and tomatoey and just the right amount. A lot of times these specialty pizza places use an eye dropper to put sauce on but not here! There wasn't a ton of toppings but you could find all of them and the prosciutto was delish! The wife had the Calabrese - tomato sauce, spicy sopressata, pepperoni, and mozzarella and basil. The meats were spicy good and plentiful. The basil really popped and made the pizza seem fresher in some way. Even though the toppings were fresh and local. The crust was thin but held up to the toppings. Beautiful char and crunch. The young man who took our order at the counter told us the 12' may seem like a lot for one person but the crust and toppings were so light we'd end up eating it all there. And he was right. We had none left to bring home. Which was our plan ordering two pizzas. I added a little salt to mine and the Italian seasoning in the little canister was also a nice flavor punch. Because of the cleanliness of the place (super clean!), the friendliness of the folks there and the fact that my wife is ready to go back today I'm going with 5 stars instead of 4. I'll be honest $16 for a 12" pizza kinda was a wallet shock but they do have a nice lunch special which we will try next. It's pizza and salad and breadsticks place. No pasta or fancy meat trays. Pizza from a brick oven direct from Naples, Italy and fast friendly service. No liquor or wine available but you can BYOB and there's no corkage fee. It can be hard to find. So turn north on Kirkwood and into the strip center when you see Los Tios on your left.

Genuine Neapolitan pizza in Houston. Lovely staff, quick service, outstanding pizza - all pizza should be this way. Minor complaint about Caprese salad, it should've had more basil, we got one leaf, but when we asked for more the provided.

Wonderful Neapolitan style pizza. This place is an absolute treasure for the west side I-10 corridor. Try the pie with spinach & ricotta rolled into the outer crust - the owner learned this trick in Italy. Decor is bare bones, but don't hold that against them - it's all about the food! BYOB for beer/wine - openers and glasses provided. If you've brung a fancy wine, you'll probably want your own stemware.

Extraordinarily tasty Neapolitan style pizza. Flavor of the crust is sublime. That's all that matters. Ceasar salad is garlicky wonderful. BYOB.

Great casual dining with great pizza. Owners are great and are always very accommodating and friendly. I can't wait to dine at their new location in Montrose.

The pizza napolitana was excellent and so was the salad. The server was extremely polite and nice, the kitchen was very slow. If the place had some entertainment maybe it wouldn’t be so noticeable (Decorations TVs etc) being more in the bare side waiting is not such an enjoyable experience. I recommend going when there isn’t as may people, because the pizza is definitely worth it.

Brick oven, OO flour, San Marzano tomatoes, fresh Basil and Fior di Latte Mozzarella cheese. I think I'm in Italy. This is an excellent Pizza place, not fancy but great pizza. I give it 5 yums.

Though located in a strip mall, this small restaurtant delivers big things ! It is a very simple experience - order at the counter, sit att he table, await your perfect pizza. No table service, but the focus here is the the pizza - simple, Neopolitan, perfect. No booze, but also no corkage - so that's fair. This is some of the best pizza i have ever had - including four trips to Italy (2 in Rome, Ischia, and Florence) - more Italian than Italy. Pizza comes fast - only after 90 sec in the 900 degree oven. Truly, this is all about the food, and not much more.

I eat here a couple of times a month for lunch, and it's always delicious. I usually get the Calabrese and "add sausage". As others have pointed out, the ingredients are authentic - real Italian. This place is "certified" Neapolitan, which means they must use top quality ingredients from Italy. That's why it's a little pricey, but it is oh so good. It is BYOB, but there's a Spec's right across the street. That's like getting the wine for half price! They also have one of the best Caesar salads I've ever had too!

This is one of the few places in town which serves genuine Neapolitan pizza. Even the oven was custom-made in Italy. It is quite expensive because it uses top quality, many imported, ingredients. The crust is very thin and crispy with just the right amount of sauce, cheese and fresh herbs. Does not taste soggy as in American pizza. Sauce is also less salty and the cheese is one of the best I ever tasted. It offers some unusual toppings like smoked mozzarella, truffle oil, Yukon gold potato, and yes the world renown Iberia ham. There are several house specials. Have tried most of them, all very good. Caesar salad is fresh and large enough to be shared. One suggestion: if you are creating your own pizza, do not overload with too many toppings. This place is not fancy and you order at the counter. Food will be brought to you. Friendly servers. I also like the BYOB with a small cork fee policy.

If you can't go to Italy, this is the next best thing. The crust is perfection! The ingredients are simple but very authentic. Delish!

The six of us devoured many pizzas and salads! We enjoyed the Fino and Margarita pizzas...plus a Nutella pizza for dessert! The pizzas are baked super fast!

Went for lunch with husband today. The house salad was above average. Good dressing and quality greens. We shared a pizza. It was delicious. You can really taste the brink oven. Definitely will go again.

With an owner so highly focused on the ingredients and the preparation of authentic Italian pizza, it's hard to believe this is Houston and not Naples. Everything...the 00 flour, the San Marzano tomatoes, the hand-pulled mozzarella made onsite, the Italian-made oven, the baking at 900 degrees for 90 seconds combines to delight the palate. There are maybe 10 places that do it so authentically in all of the US, and this is one of them. Hard to imagine going anywhere else in Houston for pizza.

Pizaro's isn't shy about forcing their attitude upon you. If you know what a true pizza made according to the standards of the Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN) is then you won't mind the attitude. If you are looking for the style of pizzas that exist outside of Napoli, Italy (e.g., New York, Chicago, St. Louis, etc., etc.) then you just might be disappointed. A few examples of the attitude: 1. Want to use their dough to make your own pie at home? Forget about it. I was turned away with a terse "NO." No explanation. No apology. 2. Want to have your pizza delivered? Nope. 3. Want to call in your order so it's ready when you arrive? No way buddy. By the way, this lack of cooperation is not mentioned at the bottom of the homepage or menu page where most users will look (and find) the phone number. They will explain to you that their pizzas cook in 90 seconds. Well, I can get their from my house in 90 seconds, so why make me wait? 4. Lastly, and I predict this will be the death knell of Pizaro's, you can not get a pizza your way, only theirs. Sure you can pick from a limited selection of additional items but they will be used in the sparse style dictated by the VPN. If you want a more American standard pie with lots of cheese...fuggedaboutit! Does the VPN require its disciples to produce only VPN pizzas? No, it doesn't. A review of the VPN's website shows there is no requirement that these are the only pizzas you have to make. Is their VPN-style pizza bad? No, as long as you know what to expect. And their website has a few images that will help set your expectations. They are roughly 11 inches in size (sorry folks, you can't get anything larger or smaller). The dough is hand stretched to an evenly narrow thickness and covered in a very simple tomato sauce. The sauce is closer to diced tomatoes with a touch of salt than your standard spiced sauce. The cheese is fresh mozzarella. No shredded stuff here. And the cheese will occupy less than 50% of the pie. I guarantee you will not get a bite of cheese in every bite you take. I honestly respect what the owner here is trying to do and I wish him well. But c'mon, show some flexibility. Lead your customers gently down the path to Napoli-style pizzas. Get them in the door. Give them what they want, not what you want them to have. Then suggest they try the 'real thing.' In the end, I will be watching his fate from the sidelines. The rigid nature of the place and the attitude I got is enough to turn me off. I don't plan on returning. Good luck Pizaro's, you're gonna need it.

The original strip mall location totally lacks atmosphere but is reasonably comfortable as a quick eat pizzeria. It is a BYOB restaurant but the lack of ambiance makes one wonder who would want to linger over a bottle of wine! Incidentally, a corkage fee of $3 has been introduced - must be to cover the cost of providing glasses and corkscrews, certainly not to cover the decor! But the pizza - ahh! Having recently visited one of the original pizzerias in Naples I can truthfully say this is a VERY close second. The margherita is superb. Haven't tried the new Montrose location yet but hope the pizza is the same and more effort has been made in the decor.

The main factor in getting my wife and I here (aside from the fact that we love pizza) was that it's BYOB. The thought of being able to bring our own wine while we enjoy excellent pizza was just too much to resist. We sure were glad we tried PIzaro's because this place is fantastic! The pizza is incredibly delicious and the options are extensive. This place is the perfect venue for a casual date night for those evenings when you don't feel like staying home.

I ordered a 12 inch with pepperoni and Italian sausage and was blown away by how amazing it tasted. I couldn't stop eating the pizza it was so good! The pizza itself made me feel like I was back in Italy. Can't say enough how good it was!

Love this place. But i love real Italian style pizza. Sure the Americanized version can be great too. But Pizaro's makes it old school. Note it is BYOB so if you want vino or beer bring your own. Nice selection of toppings. I found the pizza to come out quick and service to be good. Owner is friendly if you talk with him a bit. I'll be back every week.

We tried a couple of pizzas and a Caesar salad. The authentic oven and pizzas are worth the drive of you don't live close by. They are thin and delicious like in Italy! The Caesar salad dressing is made in house and is also wonderful!!!

I had the Calabrese pizza, which has Tomato sauce, spicy sopressatta, pepperoni, and mozzarella and basil. The pizzas are small, but so am I. About 5 slices will do it for me. The pizzas are very thin, the crust is chewy, and I can taste the burnt parts of the crust from the brick oven. The crust is chewy. The mozzarella is a giant blob of cheese in the center of the slice not a bad thing. The sauce is good. The basil adds for taste, and the meat is perfect. Not the best pizza I've had, but it was quite good. I'd definitely go back. My husband had the Salsiccia e Funghi pizza, which has roasted mushrooms, sausage, and mozzarella. He says it is delicious.

Located in a small shopping mall off of Memorial Drive this place was rated the #21 pizza place by Eater.com in their “The 38 Essential Pizzerias Across America, Monday, March 17, 2014” review. It is a BYOB place so be prepared before you get there. My party of three went with one large house salad ($7), a large Bufala Caprese ($11), a meatball pizza ($15), a Margherita pizza ($13) and a Pomodorini pizza ($15). A large Pellegrino was a great deal at $3 and the small soda was $2. The large house salad (mixed greens, cucumbers, tomatoes and red onions in a balsamic vinaigrette dressing) and the Bufalo Caprese salad (fresh heirloom tomatoes with mozzarella and a drizzling of balsamic vinegar, olive oil and fresh basil) were very good. Note that the reference to Bufalo means "buffalo" in Italian so it is not cows milk. The pizzas are 12” so the price is very expensive for the size. The Napoletana style pizza is done in a small wood fired brick oven so you will get a char on the crust. The crust was a little different than east coast pizza but was good. The meatball pizza had very tiny meatballs and was average at best. The Marghertita was good but would have been better if there was more basil and cheese. The winner for me was the Pomodorini (Tomato sauce, fresh grape tomatoes, garlic, basil and mozzarella) pizza which blew the other two away based on flavor and how the ingredients worked together. Total tab with 15% tip was $86.

When I'm going for pizza at 11 in the morning on a Saturday, I'm not looking for ambiance, but I can agree with the user who says there isn't much here. But that aside, the pizza is delicious. We ordered the potato and truffle oil and the polpette (tomatoes, meat, ricotta and mozzarella). Both were delicious, the crust thin, but still chewy. Just simple, great tasting pizza with friendly counter staff. Exactly what I wanted and I was not disappointed.

Pizaro's Pizza is a Taste of Italy in the heart of the Energy Corridor. You will find fresh ingredients and thin crust Neapolitan pizzas here. One of the secrets to the tasty pizzas is the authentic wood burning pizza oven that was imported from Italy. Be sure to safe room for the Nutella dessert pizza for the end.

We ordered lunch from this restaurant through door dash. It was absolutely fantastic. we had 1 make your own pie with various vegetables and then we tried 3 different types of pizza. The fungi pizza with truffle oil was mind blowing. The white pizza with sweet peppers was awesome as well - and the Detroit pizza ate like a garlic bread with sauce on the side. It was one of the best pizzas i have had in a long time. Highly recommended.

Pizaros does a great job of serving good quality, brick oven pizza. I liked the margherita and the cheese stuffed crust pizzas. There's a few more on the menu that I will go back and try. As for a dining experience, it's pretty basic; paper plates and plastic utensils, but you can bring your own wine or beer. They advertise 90 seconds at 900 degrees is the cooking time in the big brick oven, but for my taste they could have cooked it a bit longer- I like mine really crispy. Price wise it's a bit on the expensive side, but I want good pizza, not cheap pizza, so I'll be back.

There are times in life when you come across a meal that changes the way you see a certain food, and once you have it, EVERYTHING you eat is measured to that one meal. This happened to me yesterday here at Pizaro’s. You walk in and your are immediately welcomed by this huge brick oven at the back of the room that looks like a work of art, but this is just the brush used to create this art. The art came in the form of the Patata e Funghi. Delicate dough bathed in a Garlic type sauce drizzled with Truffle Oil and topped with Yukon Gold Potatoes, Rosemary and Mozzerella. This pizza is so rich it needs its own insurance! The salad is fresh and the Caesar dressing is light but satisfying, which you only get when you make it fresh every day. This is a great place to spend the evening and enjoy quality pizza, the only down side is that the room gets a little warm do to the oven, but they can turn down the ac to fix it. Some of the best pizza in Houston.

It took some tweaking, but outside of NY, this is probably the best thin crust pizza that I did not prepare myself. Order at least half the sauce (the tweaking), or it got soggy in the middle. The Mozzarella is excellent and makes the pie. Also, if you eat in with a group, it is best to order one at a time to eat it hot.

If you have been to Italy and enjoy authentic Italian pizza, then this a great place to go. If you like "chain" pizza, or Chicago-style, this probably is not for you. I am a pretty frequent traveller to Italy, and I can say that the pizza is as close to the authentic Italian pizza I enjoy when I am in Italy as I have had in the US. It is a bit pricey...so be prepared for a little bit of sticker shock...but the pizza is fantastic.

There's been a lot of hype over the past few years about Pizaro's Pizza and their being the only Houston Pizza Joint with a certification from the "Verace Pizza Napoletana" organization. I've wanted to give them a try for a few years and last night decide to order their curbside pickup and travel a little farther than I'd like to finally see what they were all about. I ordered my pizzas at 4:00 PM on their website for pickup at 6:30 PM, wanting to make sure I could get in before the Friday night rush. Order Details: Estimated Curbside Time Fri, Dec - 18, 2020 at 6:30 PM. Order Number: R9157 1 Cheese $13.00 Pepperoni $2.00 Black Olive $2.00 1 Salsiccia e Funghi $18.00 Subtotal $35.00 Tax $2.89 Total $37.89 Kinda pricey for 12" Pizzas, but I had to see what the charm and fascination was with this "Napoletana" hype. I arrived at 6:25 PM and sat in my car waiting for my "curbside" delivery, finally about 6:40 PM I got out of my car and went inside to see what was holding things up. At the counter they asked if they could help and I told them I had a CURBSIDE order to pickup at 6:30 PM and thought you might be running behind. The guy said, "Let me check in the back to see if your order is ready", and walked away. He came back a couple of minutes later with my pizzas, so I hurried home (less than 10 minutes) to savor my treasures. When I got home, the pizzas were both at room temperature!! Not hot, not even warm, but ROOM TEMPERATURE. We had to "reheat" the pizzas to make them eatable. Now for the pizza review... They had a nice crust, but by now the bottoms were soggy and "heels" were soft. Good flavor on both pizzas, but as you can see in the photos, the topping were SPARSE. Made for a fun game of "find the mushrooms". Best part of the pizzas was the cheese, very nice mozzarella. At $17 and $18 for a 12" pizza, I expected them to have ample toppings, which they didn't. But by now I had a bid of a tainted view based on being served cold pizza so it was hard to give them any better than two stars. Not sure I'll give Pizaros's a second chance based on this first experience. We usually go to Ciro's or George's Pastaria for "non-chain" fast food pizza; and both are a much better value with ample toppings.

This is a small strip center pizza place but it has a wood fired brick oven and they make real Neapolitan style pizza, as you find in Italy. Good pizza and friendly staff.

food was amazing , but abit expensive for the service; Self service restaurant with all the plastic serviette and no alcohol.

Great place for family or romantic late night pizza. Pizza is prepared in a huge Italian oven. You can bring your own wine. They do not servce alcohol. They do have some tables outside, but since it's in a strip mall, I wouldn't sit outside, unless I had my dog.

The pizza was reasonably good but a little salty. I have rated this restaurant a 3 based on the value received because the pizza with 2 toppings was $28, which seemed high and a fairly small caprese salad was $9. With tax, the pizza and salad was $39.51. I left a small tip, bringing the total to $45.44.

We happened upon this cute place last Friday night after checking into our hotel nearby. It was late and we were hungry, and I have to admit I was skeptical when we pulled up. But as it turns out, Pizaro's has a super cute modern/fresh atmosphere and delicious pizza! We all loved it and will be back when we visit Houston again!

I've been here a few times and love the pizza. It's the best that I've found since moving here from NY. Yes, you walk up and order and then sit down with a number. You grab some paper plates and plastic utensils and get your drink. There are some glasses in a corner for those who like to bring their own wine. The prices are high, but if the quality of the food is what your looking for, you will like this place. I especially like the specialty pizza with Yukon gold potatoes and mushrooms! YUM!

This is the best real Italian pizza place that we know West of Houston. They use excellent ingredients. You can bring your own beverage. Since it is the real deal, it is not cheap.

Pizaro's Pizza opened in the Energy Corridor of Houston a couple of years ago, one of only 3 or 4 places in Houston that serve "authentic" pizza, i.e., the kind of pizza you would find in Italy. In the early days there was no corkage fee, but that has gone up to $3 now. In the early days, when they were trying to establish themselves, the toppings were abundant. Not so much any more. In the early days, the owner was around all the time to make sure his vision was being well-executed. No so much any more. Prices were higher than Dominoes, etc., but very competitive with the other 3 or 4 authentic pizza places in the city. Aside from the decline that I just described, my biggest gripe is with the decor/ambience. There is zero atmosphere here. Could they possibly make this place any less attractive? It is simply a collection of tables and chairs at which to sit down and eat a pizza. I don't think it would take much to improve on this - maybe better attention to the lighting; maybe better music selection. Do something, anything. I visited there about a month ago after a hiatus of several months. The pizza crust was soggy. This is a big NO-NO. I urge the owners of Pizaro to get back to their original pizza vision, back before they opened their second location, and drained attention away from the original. Bring back the delicious, crispy thin-crust authentic pizza with loads of delicious toppings that you first lured us with. Do something, just small improvements, to your decor. I'll be back, but one more soggy pizza and I'll be done with you. Last chance tonight.

Great pizza (lots of variety) and drink selection. Great atmosphere and the staff is exceptional. Go out of their way to ensure you have a great experience

Good pizza and excellent Caesar salad. Been there a couple of times. The food is good. Service could be better. The owner is very nice but many of the staff need customer service guidance.

BYOB - bring your own booze to this place. Very casual. The best and quickest pizza in town - takes 90 seconds to cook. No call in orders because the pizza cooks so quickly in their special oven. They are opening a new location in 2015 closer into Houston. Fresh ingredients. Owned by a family that truly cares about your food. The owner will stop by the table to chat. They have some unusual pizzas that are surprisingly good -- just ask the person taking your order to guidance. Show up in shorts & flip-flops -- very casual.

This family run establishment is the REAL deal! I love this pizzeria - the ingredients are so fresh and authentic. This is not your typical Houston pizza - thank goodness - but more like what I have had in Italy. My absolute favorite pizza is the potato and mushroom with a bit of truffle oil - delish. The caprese salad is wonderful! Our typical dining group travels about 10-12 miles to dine at Pizaro's at least once a month. Perhaps an additional location inside the loop soon - fingers crossed!

We love the pizzas from Pizaros. The oven they use makes the pizza delicious and perfect. A great addition to our neighborhood!

We tried the location in Montrose two days after its opening and we had to give up because it was too crowded! Actually it doesn’t take long, as the cashier is also the place where you order your pizza, but that evening the waiting seemed too long, so we tried again yesterday. We found out once there that it was a BYOB place, so we went out again to buy beer. They charge you 1 dollar a bottle, so bring what you think you will really drink (we took the whole package, being too lazy to left some in the car!) As Italian, and as Italian coming from Naples, I found it good, above all the dough. But, what I found really surprising, was the owner, Bill: he welcomes every person who enters the pizzeria. He is kind and smiling and it really looks like a person who loves his job. Bill can make the difference and I will surely return to Bill’s place where I can find a smile and a warm hand shake.

I have been here several times for lunch with coworkers. We work in West Houston, so this place is convenient. Like many restaurants in Houston, this one is tucked away in a huge strip mall. Don't let that scare you -- this place is legit! The make the pizza right in front of you and cook it in 90 seconds in their wood fired oven. Very inexpensive and worth the drive from anywhere in Houston for an authentic taste of italy!

Tasty but overpriced leave-you-hungry pizza. Service almost absent, get your own plates, plasticware, napkins. $21 for a good but quite simple anorexic pizza with a small nondescript Ceaser salad. Zero atmosphere, some outdoor seating in the strip mall. I guess faddy Memorial people in Houston will pay anything for a new sensation. BYOB with no corkage fee is nice.

Great authentic pizza! It is not a fancy place just stuck in a strip center next to Los Tios, paper plates and plastic utensils. But it is BYOB (no corkage) which really saves us money!!! I have never been a huge fan of margherita pizza until I tried theirs! It must be something about the tomato sauce but I crave it now. The menu has several varieties including a great truffle and potato pizza and an arugula pizza (both are white pizzas, no sauce, and definitely worth having). As to the previous reviewer who said you cannot customize--we do it all the time! We get the margherita and add proscuitto and 2 eggs which makes a pizza which is out of this world! We used to go to one of those other "coal fired" pizza restaurants, but since eating here I wouldn't step a foot it those other places!!!

Totally a family run pizza place. The owners have been there every time that we have been there. It is not fancy and there is not a lot of atmosphere but the pizza rocks! The salads are incredible as well. Make sure to get a side of the hot peppers. They are unbelievable! It is nice to be able to bring your own wine and there is no cork fee. These pizzas are super thin and they should be eaten there. We have done take out and even though the pizza is still good when you get home, the crust isn't crispy like it is when it is fresh out of their imported oven. Be prepared - they use the finest ingredients which makes an expensive pizza! Especially if you go for one of the specialty pizzas (like the one with pork belly - worth the splurg!!!). Go for it! You only live once.

You know your food is fresh when it is made before your eyes. All the ingredients are from scratch and Margherita pizza is phenomenal! What's even better is the Italian brick oven where the pizza bakes in 90 seconds! The only con is that its really far away from the Downtown. Its also in a shopping strip on Memorial Dr. So don't allow the distance to intimidate you because this place is worth your drive.

I've had the chance to try three different pizzas at Pizaro's. Wow, they're good! As another reviewer said, "this is the next best thing" to going to Italy. We've had the Calibrese, Campania, and a plain Margherita. What a wonderful taste. I'll be back again on Saturday. I think I'll suggest the spinach and ricotta to my wife :)

This pizza place is located in a regular suburban mall, nothing fancy in the store front and plenty of parking. Once inside, you cannot miss their Italian built brick oven which is burning at 900 degrees and can bake a pie in 90 seconds. The seating is furnished with simple tables and we ordered our pies through a queue. The menu is not huge and we decided on 2 of their specialty pizzas ,a regular combo and a house salad to share. The salad was big, ingredients super fresh and was plenty between the 3 of us. Next came the potato and mushroom, how did they made Yukon potato a star ingredient of a pizza, you have to be there. Our second is the Campania, a tomato based pizza with all the usual suspects of black olive, cotto ham, artichokes and mozzarella. Sauce was just right , crust light and crispy throughout without begin soggy. The last but not the least, is a garlicky, cheesy pie with smoked prosciutto and olive oil. As with the other two, these combinations are heavenly. These pies are 12 inch a piece and we finished them without a blink.

Pizza was average; bland tasting and a bit pricey. Caesar salad was good but small and croutons were as hard as Legos. Considering the prices (not cheap), the plastic knives and forks and styrofoam salad bowls were a bit of a turnoff. We'll not be going back - much better pizzas around Houston. Main attraction for us was BYOB with a modest corkage charge.

I got hooked by a recommendation by houstonpress.com. According to their website "Houston's Top 10 Pizza Places" Pizza Pizaro is on the top. We had Pizza Arugula ($14) and Calabrese or Calzone ($17), and both were very mediocre in taste. They don't really know how to make an Italian style pizza, I would claim: The Arugula was just a basic dough with cheese and olive oil and some fresh Arugula thrown on top of it. It was not only very bland and barren but also came with plastic forks and knives, paper plates, no lemon for the water. Only good thing is that one can bring one's own beverage along. Extra charge applies. My verdict: Prices are way too high for quality.

Pros: ingredients are top notch, oven and style of pizza (thin and crusty even under the pizza!!!); selection; location; informality; pizza is REALLY out in 60-90seconds after ordering CONS: SUPER-PRICEY AND THEY CHARGED ME WHEN I ASKED FOR OLIVE OIL!, then served it in a disposable plastic container that really doesn't let you pour around the pizza; plastic utensils, paper plates/napkins, as an environmentalist I decided to eat w/ my hands, pizza was just as good, but it seems the owner (who was present and supervising everything) is being penny-smart/pound-fool. He doesn't want overhead (no servers, you order/pay at cashier and they deliver), but uses tons of disposable paper/plastic every day but not buying real plates/silverware, or leaving a few bottles of olive oil on the tables, which really is a must in any respectable pizza place in the world. BYOB = good. $0.30 sample glasses offered for wine, that only allow for one sip = terrible. I would go back to try the other pizzas, because I simply love to find real pizza like I tried in Brazil, Argentina and Europe, but will take home.

Its place might be deceiving as I was 'warned' by my spouse before we arrived, but NPR has put this restaurant as #1 Pizza place in Houston so we gave it a try. I'd never been a really pizza fan before; however as a world traveller I know what a yummy meal is. And I love the Pizza they served! I was quite surprised!! Its portion will not be like a huge American size (thanks lord!!) and its ingredients are very fresh. I can easily taste a delicious real buffalo mozzarella, a tasty tomato sauce, a very interesting feel of dough, and not to mention their awesome Caesar salad!!!! I heard most of their ingredients are imported from its native Italy. We also loved their chocolaty dessert pizza which was quite hard to resist. The service was prompt. The atmosphere might need more effort to make it more personal touch, I guess. The price of course is not cheap compared to any fatty greasy pizza around town but I completely understand because of the ingredients they use on their product. I think a good clientele would appreciate a nice meal which passed a well thought process by the Owner a.k.a the server a.k.a the Chef :)))) Go give it a try! Don't think too much about ambience/utensils/silverware/etc. Just the tastyness of the Real Pizza.... PS: we drove all the way to Pizaro from our house (13 miles) just because we really like it. So i am so happy they are going to open another one near Rice. Yay!!

All I can say is WOW. The pizza here is delicious and you can tell the ingredients are top notch. The pizza comes out as fast as they claim (under 2 minutes). The place was pretty full when when we got there and our pizza came out fast. I didn't know it was BYOB place or I would have brought a bottle of wine with me. I love the thin crust pizza that's not too thin and this was just right. I will be back here again!

All of the focus is on the pizza, not the plates and forks. So when you visit, know the pizza is the star. I have been here several times with friends and we usually get different pizzas and share. Your pizza is made to order, always freshly made with precise ingredients cooked in a special oven. With this type of pizza less is always more, the simpler the toppings the better the pie. Neapolitan pizza is very different from mainstream pizza so put away your Pizza Hut expectations. It is a casual atmosphere and as you can see in the other reviews pizza is eaten off of paper plates with plastic utensils. Lunch is a better value which includes a salad and drink. Dinner and weekends is a bit pricier but if you consider the level of pizza you are getting it is worth every penny! Go with friends, get a few different pies! Go back again!

Dinner for two under $25 including caprese salad, pizza - bring your own wine, no cover or cork fees - but save room for dessert! The pizza crust is slightly thicker and spread with Nutella; enough to share but why would you want to miss out.

The pizza was good. Super fast with the order to table time. Probably 5 minutes all together. No joke. Just like the other reviewers said, it's overpriced big time. A thin 12" pizza is $17 and a small drink is $2.25 for a taxed total of $20.84 for one person for pizza. Ouch! I personally don't think it's so good to warrant an expensive trip back.

I met some friends at Pizaro's for dinner. Nice casual place, I liked how chill it was even though many reviewers weren't impressed with the paper plates and plasticwear. I guess I was expecting it and wasn't phased. The pizza: top notch, authentic, cooked to perfection with fluffy crust and gooey middle. Sweet sauce, spicy meatballs. Dessert: Nutella on a pizza crust. Yes please. BYOB: they have bottle openers and funny little glasses. No corking fee. Not exactly a classy date night place, but a perfect casual hangout for some great food. A half a pizza and a few slices of dessert was plenty for me.

I love this place. I only get the simple and traditional margarita style Napoletana! If you are looking for the real deal this is the best place in Houston. I normally go for lunch , they have good lunch specials. It is also BYOB for when you want to go for dinner and have some wine! Love the char leopard spots, soooo good

We had walked by this pizzeria several times while going to Los Tios Mexican restaurant and finally decided to give it a try. To say the least, we were disappointed. We just did not like the pizza at all. I think the message from the owner was that we have not spent enough time in Italy to appreciate it. But, to their credit, they did refund our money, which we appreciated. P.S. I think our thoughts are probably somewhat similar to the other negative review on this site.

If you're looking for a great pizza meal that's ready quick near the hotels on the Energy Corridor, Pizaro's is it. Nice thin crust pizza done in a forno oven. Staff was very helpful in assisting with menu choices.

Hand tossed, thin crust and wood burning pizza oven. Great toppings along with nice people and good service Great for families, but BYOB makes it fun for all.

There are many styles of Pizza and in my opinion they all have their merits. But if you are looking for authentic Neapolitan style pizza without all the bother and expense of actually going to Naples this is your best bet. Bill Hutchinson, General Partner, received his certification as a Pizzaiuolo from the Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN) organization. The pizza is made in a wood oven using the proper flour and techniques. So what? Well this gives you a crust that has just the right texture, taste, chew and char. Another feature of the pizza is that they go light on the toppings so that you taste both the toppings and the wonderful crust. Probably the most authentic (to Naples) are the Cheese and Margarita toppings using proper Italian style Mozzarella di Bufala. However, even the less traditional toppings are great. The restaurant is located in a strip retail center at the corner of Memorial and Kirkwood. The restaurant itself is rather plain, but does have a couple of outside tables for these (all to few) Houston days that are pleasant enough to sit outside. Every time I have been there Bill has been there to great you and make sure that all is well. Don't be afraid to ask him about what it takes to make Pizza Napoletana. Another great feature is that Pizaro's is BYOB. Bring your favorite wine because there is no fee. Cork screws and glasses are by the front door. Just help yourself.

I was in Houston for a wedding and Pizaro's Pizza was close to my hotel. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The pizza is not cheap, around $16 for a 12" pie, but it is made with fresh, high quality ingredients cooked in the most beautiful pizza oven I have ever seen. It is well worth it. I had the Calabrese pizza with spicy sopressata(sort of spicy sausage) and pepperoni. Great!

I had done a search for best pizza in Houston and it didn’t deliver. The dough was different but tasty; however I would rank it between pizza restaurant quality and delivery pizza. It was their last day at that location, that may also explain the lack of pizzazz!

If you think pizza crust should be crispy, then do NOT eat here! I did not realize that Napolitano meant soft, wet crust. And, they are proud of it! No, I have not been to Italy so this may be great there but, I like my pizza dough cooked! IMHO, worst pizza ever. Sorry but I'm taking Naples (and Pizaro's) off my travel list if this is how they cook pizza. Also, thank goodness for the tables outside 'cause inside was like a nursery with all the kiddos. NOT a good date place! No wonder everyone was walking past us to go to Los Tios Mexican restaurant!

After reading Alison Cook's review of Pizaro's Pizza and finding out it was on the west side (yay) decided to check it out. I had recently been to Italy and wanted "that Naples-style pizza" againT! The restaurant is tucked into a strip center. Upon entering there are plenty of tables. Order at the counter (no call ins as the pizza cooks in 90 seconds). The menu features a selection of about four salads. The traditional pizzas are 12", as are the specialty pizzas, and the prices are anywhere from $12.00 to $17.00. For extra or add on toppings (be sure to try the bufula mozzarella $4.00) the price runs from $2.00 to $4.00 per item. Now this is not your typical "american pizza" with stuff piled high and covered in goo. This pizza is about the crust, fresh made and tossed when you order it. It's also about the toppings but applied with a light hand so you can taste every ingredient. This is how authentic pizza is made in Italy. On this visit we tried the Calabrese, which was spicy sopressata, pepperoni, mozzarella and basil which was really good, but I didn't get that spicy kick from the sopressata that I was expecting. We also ordered the Arugula pizza which was olive oil, garlic, arugula, shaved parmesan and proscuitto. This pizza was the star of the show for me! This is a very traditional italian combo offered at most pizzeria's in italy (remember to get the bufula mozzarella on this one). This pizza took me right back there. The crust had a nice char to it and the ingredients were fresh. The only thing really different was that they put the prosciutto on the pizza before it went in to the oven (which is not traditional), instead of putting it on after the pizza comes out of the oven. I really liked this place a lot. Got a chance to chat with the owner/pizzaiolo and am excited to taste the other offerings they have. This restaurant also features a lunch special and a kid's special.

I can appreciate a good quality pizza with ingredients from Naples, but it still doesn't warrant the price. Especially because the atmosphere of the place is like a cheap pizza joint in a class c shopping center. $7.50 for a tiny childs cheese pizza and $17.00 for a full size 12". I'd rather actually go to Naples to enjoy the real thing.

Great pizza baked in a brick oven! We were on a weekend visit to Houston and wanted Pizza other than the usual Pizza hut, Dominoes etc. We just stumbled upon this place while driving around and took a pizza to go. A little more expensive, but as with anything, you get what you pay for. It was really good, made with fresh mozzarella slices, not the usual shredded cheese, and just the right amount of sauce. I will definitely go back again when in Houston!

Love this place! We go to Pizaros a few times a month and usually meet up with friends. We each get a different pizza and share.

Great thin crust pizzas with perfect toppings. BYOB but it means you can bring the good stuff and enjoy wine and a pizza the way you like it. It is the best pizza in Houston.

If you like truly Napoli styled pizza there is no place like it. Not your run of the mill pizza delivery outfit. This place has an authentic Italian pizza oven and the chef is an artist. Once you eat his pizza all others will pale in comparison. Bring a nice bottel of wine and enjoy.

This is the real deal - they imported the oven from Naples and went there to train...thin crust at its best! Pizzas made to order and ready in 90 seconds, the fire burns that hot! Wonderful flavor in their tomato sauce. You can delight in the perfect simplicity of the Margherita, bask in the bold flavors of the Fino with smoked bufala mozzarella, and always, always save room for a Nutella dessert pizza!! You must, must have the Nutella pizza! This is not cheap pizza - quality ingredients (which costs more, and why it is so good!) The Caesar salad and House salad are both good - again, quality ingredients! The house salad has a nice tangy vinaigrette dressing. It is not a fancy place at all (but not a hole-in-the-wall.) Its all about the pizza. Family built, family owned, family run.

I have tried Pizaro's several times. The pizza is made in the traditional Italian methods and thin crust style. Closest thing I have had to pizza I tried in Italy. A bit pricey for what you get in my opinion and some inconsistency in the crust. I have had a couple burned bottom crusts but overall a good traditional pie.

Pizaro's is a small, very casual dining atmosphere located in a shopping strip on the West side of Houston. Prices are moderate. The pizza is ready within 2-3 minutes of sitting down. The pizza is delicious. It is a thin, crust. They use fresh ingredients; there are signs around the restaurant explaining their ingredients, their cooking process, and their oven.

I had heard so much about the oven, the training the owner did in Naples and the fact that the Houston food critics had been flocking to this place so I had to try it. My title of the review summed up my experience. I am never crazy about stand in line, self serve places for dinner. Handing over $40 for a pizza, a coke in a paper cup and a house salad seemed excessive. I asked the cashier for a pizza recommendation. Although I believe she was the owner, she sort of sighed and said everything is good. There were 3 customers in the restaurant on a slow Monday night and there were 6 kids working the line. Unfortunately, not one of them would make eye contact or speak to me. Even the girl who delivered my pizza was in the middle of a conversation with her coworker and dropped the pie unceremoniously on my table. Luckily I had already picked up my plastic silverware, paper plate and cheap Costco napkin myself so I did not need anything. The pizza was fine. Similar to Russos and dolce vita.......only smaller.....much, much smaller. Great sauce, interesting toppings and the famous brick oven crust. You will need one pizza per adult and by the way, your kids will not like the spices or toppings. So, how do they fix this place? Put some of the same tlc into everything else about the place that they put into the oven and the recipe. A good recipe will not make up for mediocre service, a sparse interior and self serve paper and plastic utensils. Get some real employees who care rather than the high school kids who are just hanging out. Bite the bullet and buy some plates, glasses and silverware.

I have been to their new location at 11177 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079 three times and the Neapolitan style Pizza is still the best in town.(Trip Advisor - if you are watching - they have moved from the Memorial Drive location that you still show. May want to fix that.) They have now branched out to making Detroit and New York style pies. I am sure they are great and will try them some day. It's just that I love the Neapolitan style soooo much that I always go with that.

Great place. Someone should tell TripAdvisonr that Pizaro's has move to 11177 Katy Freeway. I have been coming to Pizaro's since 2015. Don't get me wrong, I have been to other great pizza places in Houston. But I keep coming back here. In that time they moved from their original location on Memorial to the Katy Freeway. Both locations were rather nondescript retail centers. Yes there are cheaper pizza places than Pizaro's, but few places in Houston use the same quality of ingredients or pay as much attention to the craft. What first hooked me back in 2015 was the Neapolitan style of pizza. They have several red and white Neapolitan style pies and I don't think anyone in town does a more authentic Margarita than Pizaro's. They now also do great New York style and Detroit style pies. But for me, I always go back to the Neapolitan style. They allow BYOB (my personal preference), but they now also have a nice selection on reasonably priced wines for

Based on TA Reviews, I was expecting to pay a lot for a fancy meal. Pizaros is casual, family-friendly, clean, inexpensive, and fast. The pizza itself is excellent - fresh ingredients, made from scratch, not overwhelming amounts of cheese or sauce, a good thin crust. You can read the walls and menu for full explanations of how their pizza is better We will come back to Pizaro's next time we go to Houston.

The Chronicle's Alison Cook recently named Pizaro's as perhaps the best pizza currently being served in Houston and named it #34 on her Top 100 Restaurants list for 2013...Dolce Vita was also on her list (#24), but this Memorial/Kirkwood location was more convenient, so we tried it for lunch today. Went with the Lunch Special....$8.95 for an 8-inch cheese w/ Caesar salad....an additional $1 more for a Calabrese....my friend had the Margherita. The 8-inch was simply not enough food, so we then ordered a 12-inch Calabrese, which costs $16. The pizza was good...but didn't knock me off my feet....appreciate the fresh ingredients, the oven from Naples, the thin crust and Caesar salad.....a good, solid pizza, but.... ....I'm still looking for great....if anyone knows about a Houston pizza that can compare to Regina's Pizzeria in Boston's North End, please let me know.
Quality ingredients!
What a treat! We were driving through from louisiana and stopped at this pizza place. You're paying for quality and fresh ingredients. Delicious and authentic!
