We have been living in Tijuana. We were spending in Old Town but we didn't want Mexican. We went to the Pizza place there. Wow! We got the Kitchen Pizza. It was really, really good. I'm sure the other kind there was really good. Anyway, go one of the "kitchen Pizza". The workers were very friendly, too.

A great experience. The food was served quickly. The staff were pleasent and attentive. The pizza was to die for. Real Italian Pizza not your typical American type. Portions were large. Parking was a little hard to find but thats what should be expected in a popular tourist area. Seating was available both indoors and out side. Reservations were not required. Located very close to Old Town. Great Food. I recommend

The wait staff was very friendly and efficient. Ambiance was wonderful. Food was delicious. Salad was fresh and delicious! Great variety of offering on the menu.

After a long day, we were hungry and tired so we decided to eat in. After talking to the hotel staff, we decided to try Pizza Bella. The pizza was good but since we did not have a way to reheat it, it wasn't as good as we expected. The toppings were generous and had good flavor. The crust was hearty but did not arrive crisp. While it was not soggy, I was a little disappointed. I am giving them a 3 out of 5 but feel that I could have given them a solid 4 out of 5 if they could find a way to deliver the pizza while it was still hot.

The Pizza Is Excellent. Well Worth Ordering. The Prices Are Very Good. We Were Going To Order Personal Size Pizzas But The Waiter Recommend We Order A Large Pizza For The 3 Of Us And It Saved Us Some Money And Was More Than Enough For Us. The Menu Also Includes Other Italian Dishes.

The service was personal and warm. The place was nice and ambient. The pizzas were undoubtedly the best ever. I'll travel from Denmark to Bella Pizza on a Friday night if that was an option just to eat and go back. Really great and most recommendable to everyone in a mood for pizza and great service.

My family and I ate here our first night in San Diego on the recommendation of the folks at our hotel. We were not disappointed but were instead very impressed. We shared the large pesto pizza with sausage and we're delighted. The quality of the pizza was as good as back home in the New York suburbs and I think that says a lot. Also, we are outside in the wonderful, quiet courtyard where we got a taste of that perfect weather San Diego is renowned for. Thank you to everyone at Pizza Bella for making our first impression of San Diego so excellent.

The pizza was huge, and it was great they delivered to our hotel, but we were disappointed in the taste. It wasn't anything special. We really wanted to like this place, but I can't say I'd order again.

If you want a pizza that just explodes in your mouth, this is the place to go......we even took the leftovers on the plane with us the next day!!!!! All I can say is OMG

We wanted to try some Italian food! Pizza Bella was so good and authentic! You have to stop by! The food served was quality food! The waiter seemed to be in a hurry and we felt like were being rushed. Other than that seriously food was delicious! Save some room for their tiramisu

Loved the food and service. We sat out side. The staff were friendly and prompt with service. The chicken parmesan was perfect.

Informal Italian food with great pizza. We split a house salad - plenty for two - and a 12" pizza. It was all good. Service very attentive and helpful. Fairly busy for a Monday night in early June, so the locals must like it too.

Very good Italian food. The portions are enormous and the fettucine alfredo is very authentic. I actually got the kids portion, which ended up being three meals for me. The level of garlic in the alfredo sauce was expert! The wait staff is fantastic.

We found this place after an excruciatingly long day at the airport and missing a flight. The pizza was out of this world and the service was top notch. If we lived in the area, we would go out if our way to eat here again.

Hubby loves his Pizza & he wasn't disappointed. Really nice staff here - it took me a while to decide on what I was having but there was not pressure just reassurance to 'Take your time' I also settled on pizza (different topping) we were both happy with our choices. Good value too !

We have visited Pizza Bella each time staying in Old Town and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is cozy and the pizza is great!

I feel bad writing this review as the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was quaint and cozy. Sadly, the pizza was awful. Pizza is my favorite indulgence and I take eating it seriously. I ordered a Margarita pizza. The appearance was nice. It had fresh tomatoes and freshly chopped basil, but there was so much garlic added that I couldn’t finish it. The dough had a strange aftertaste and wasn’t crispy or thick. It was quite chewy. My husband had the meat pizza and also tasted a strange aftertaste in the dough. Overall, he gave his a 5 out of 10

We have been to San Diego to see Sea World. On our return journey we decided to have some authentic Italian food. By searching on internet we found this restaurant. It was a bit cold evening so decided to sit inside, though outside seating was also available. Ordered Pizza, pasta and breads. Followed by some good cake. Also had good beer. Food was authentic and we enjoyed a lot and had a great time. Worth visiting this restaurant.

We ate here after a long day of travel, we were tired and hungry and Pizza Bella really fit the bill. I had the lasagna and an Italian salad and my son had the Chicken Parmesan with pasta. I loved my salad, the lasagna was good but I wasn't crazy about the sauce, I ate all the bread that came with my meal so maybe that's why I couldn't finish the lasagna. My son really enjoyed his Chicken Parmesan but we both agreed that the service was great!

Wow! They really know how to make a great pizza. I drove all the way from LA to revisit it! I'll definitely go again...

I have been to this restaurant on 2 separate occasions and the food has always been delicious. The servers are friendly and attentive. Great place to eat!

We stopped in for a late dinner just before closing, We split the Eggplant Parmesean. This was a really large serving and filled us up. The Eggplant was excellently cooked and was wrapped around a good portion of fresh spinach. It came with a large salad. The place was very clean and the service provided by Lemay was outstanding. Fortunately we were on foot because parking in Old town can be hard to find.

Visiting San Diego recently, noticed online reviews about this restaurant. Looked promising and affordable. It was nearby and so went there for lunch. Small intimate setting and not very crowded. Friendly welcoming staff. The review I read showed two dollar signs so I was not expecting such high prices on the menu for lunch. I asked if they had a lunch menu and was told no. So I opted for the child spaghetti as I just could not eat a large plate of adult size spaghetti. My two companions ordered two of the sandwiches. Their sandwiches were large and apparently were enjoyed as my two companions devoured them. My child spaghetti was $12 and was regular spaghetti that is boiled and was covered with a sauce that was not very tasty or special. I live near an Italian settlement that has handmade pasta and homemade sauces and this was nothing better than I could do in my own kitchen with regular products from the grocery store. So I was disappointed and felt I wasted my money.

We visited San Diego old town and looked for a place with gluten free options - and this was one of the only places that actually had main dishes that are GF . The staff was great accommodating for all dietary needs and very attentive as well. We ordered vegetarian pizza whic I cannot recommend since it had only black olives and some onions , usually we get a colorful pizza with peppers, extra tomatoes and mushrooms but we asked the waiter and they added a side of these per our request . The pasta primavera was really good and so were the salads and ravioli .

We read great reviews about this place, and we totally agree! The pizza was to die for, but the fettuccine alfredo was the unexpected find. My daughter orders this wherever we go, and this was the best ever. My husband is a chef, and he was totally impressed. The server was friendly and helpful, and the outdoor seating was nicely spaced out so you didn’t feel like everyone could hear you talking. Love this place!!

Went with the delivery option- so excellent, I ordered delivery twice during my stay. Excellent pizza, chicken marsala, and eggplant parmesan. And did I mention thechocolate mousse?

Terrific food, and generous portions. Went at the end of a long day at SeaWorld, and it was such a great choice. Nice beer selections. Kids shared a pizza, which they really enjoyed. Wife had the chicken cacciatore - said it was delicious, and there was enough to last for another meal at the hotel. Same can be said for my calzone - it was huge! And oh so tasty. The restaurant itself is pretty small, and decorated in a way that you would expect for a Old Town location. We were inside, but the courtyard patio looked really nice, and I would like to go back to check that out. And it was all reasonably priced, as well.

I went there for lunch with a colleague. I am from Italy and appreciate good pizza. I order a custom 12’’ pizza and found it just average and much greasier than it should have been. Even if I was very hungry I did not manage to finish it. The location is nice but the food is nothing to write home about

Got the Kitchen Sink, a cheese pizza, and some Cannoli's. I wasn't a fan of the kitchen sink, but my wife loved it. I just didn't like the toppings myself. The cheese pizza was delicious! And the Cannoli's were the best. Definitely worth it!

We visited twice while staying in the Old Town. We had the pizza and pasta meals. All good. Salads fresh. Waiters are friendly and efficient.

Staff was very friendly and foot was hot and fresh tasting. One of the best pizzas I ever had. I would definitely recommend.

Pizza Belle is a great Italian restaurant. The service and pizza is excellant. Located on congress one block from San Diego Ave.

We found Pizza Bella on Trip Advisor and liked the reviews. Since we were staying at a hotel nearby, we decided to stop in. The pizza did not disappoint. One of the best pizzas we've eaten. Two evenings later, we went back for another dinner, this time ordering the garlic cheese bread and a calzone. Both were delicious. We enjoyed the warm welcome each of our visits and the excellent service.

Excellent pizza, great atmosphere, awesome service. We had the giant works pizza and was more than enough to feed our family of 4. The original crust was perfect with just the right amount of crisp.

I was expecting more from all the hype. There were 4 of us. We ordered various personal size pies including the famous Sigma Chi. I was not impressed by the Sigma Chi. I found it to be like an overstuffed, deep dish pizza that did not layer well. At the bottom of the toppings you had this oil layer. All in all, it is a dense pizza that rather than amaze, left me rather bloated. I would argue that all the personal size pizzas are in that in between size. Too much to be a reasonable amount, and too small to share. In addition to the pizza and craft beers, we also decided to try their chocolate and mozzarella dessert pizza. Surprisingly, it was quite good, but after stuffing the pizza down, there was no way the 4 of us could come close to finishing the dessert pizza. My favorite pizza remains the wood fired pizza shop just outside the University of Delaware where the pizza is a simple composition with exquisite ingredients. Although the Sigma Chi was very good, especially the crust, I felt overwhelmed rather than satisfied. One in our group totally disagreed with me and tried to devour every bit of the Sigma Chi. To each his own. We spent $100 for the 4 of us for dinner here. Not a cheap pizza experience. Our waiter was very good and service in general was great. We were able to walk to the restuarant from our nearby Best Western Hotel. We all would make a second trip here to give it another shot.

Ok, so as first time visitors to San Diego, we were looking for a non-franchised type of place for some pizza. Well, we found it right down the street from our hotel at Pizza Bella. We started off with some garlic cheese bread(I know, I know, but my 12 year old daughter loves it). It was not too garlicky, but had all the requisite cheese you would look for on a dish like this. Needless to say, there was none left. So I would qualify that as solid. Next up we ordered the Mediterranean Salad for the table. Covered in feta cheese and a dressing that was delicate and not overpowering, it was a (+) dish that the table shared and thoroughly enjoyed. We had ordered the "Mushroom & Co." pizza and I swear, it was one of the best pies I had ever eaten. Delicious. We also ordered a cheese pizza for the kids and they enjoyed it as well. The two ways I referenced in the title refers to the "Chocolate Pizza." When our server told us it typically takes 15 minutes, I was a bit nervous as the kids had drank soda for lunch and they usually have a sugar high after drinking it, and today was no different. However, upon arrival the dessert pie was COMPLETELY WORTH THE WAIT. Baked on a "doctored pizza crust" with chocolate and mozzarella cheese(?, what?) this dessert was a.m.a.z.i.n.g. Although we couldn't finish it, it was so worth: The time and; Our kids bouncing off the walls from their sugar high. Pizza Bella gets 5 stars from me, and I would give it 10 if I could!

Nice atmosphere and great food! Enjoyed the vegan friendly options. Pizza looked amazing as it traveled by with staff to other tables!

We ordered from here (they do takeaway/carry out aswell as sit in) and we were not dissappointed...we ordered the largest pizza they do as we were feeding 3 of us and we can eat...half a pizza down and we were stuffed (so we took the rest down to a couple of homeless guys we had seen on the way back to the hotel) and they got fed too...the topping is immense! so much of it a couple of slices is like a full on meal! tasty, cooked to order and with wonderful friendly service it is great value for money, highly recommend it (and the restaurant is lovely if you want to sit in!)

Unfortunately pizza was not very Italian but you could still eat it. Not very pleased by it though. It is average according to the American standard I guess but in Italy pizza would be just poor and not a place to give a second chance.

Quaint and Great Food! Pizza and wine a romantic little stop on a rainy night. Staff was polite. Prices were medium.

Very cute restaurant with nice outdoor patio. Greeted warmly and wait staff friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, don't know if it was an off night, but the food was very average at best. Spaghetti with meat sauce had very little flavor, meat balls were TOUGH (my husband never met a meatball he did not love, so this is going some), and the antipasto salad was an odd combination of items and not particularly tasty. We were disappointed.

Pizza Bella is a fine choice for your family since they have much more than just pizza on the menu. There is also a good kid's menu so if you have little ones you know you can get them a tasty dinner too. Offering both indoor and outdoor dining with attentive service we found this restaurant to be an excellent choice for enjoying a beautiful San Diego summer evening.

Only here a couple days for business...I love the Mexican Restaurants but can’t have that every meal. Last night here, was just walking around and found this. Great atmosphere, read some reviews waiting for my meal it’s busy during lunch. Luckily on a Monday it was fine. Quick and quality service, went for the Seafood Pizza. Enormous servings for a personal size meal. Next time I’ll try one of the pasta dinners.

We passed this place many times, thinking it was an average pizza place, and now wish we had discovered them sooner. Great pizza combination that make your mouth water. Cant try them all but wow we were pleasantly surprised. We could even bring out little dog on the patio.

Restaurant was recommended by the hotel that I was staying at (Old Town Inn), was not disappointed. Pretty nice menu and wine list, I was totally impressed with the thin crust pepperoni pizza and a nice selection of red and white wine. Reminded me of a comfy Italian pizza parlor. Be sure to ask for Lou a pretty good waiter from Chicago. I'll be back!

We were headed to Old Town San Diego, but my guests were not in the mood for Mexican food--the staple cuisine in Old Town eateries. So we tried Pizza Bella, although each of us opted for pasta rather than pizza. Best of the pastas was the Shrimp Diablo, of which a more than generous portion contained plump scampi in a mound of linguini. I enjoyed my plump, delicate cheese ravioli, although the pesto sauce proved bland. Pasta with chicken and broccoli proved tasty also. Toasted garlic bread proved pungent and crisp, but the green salad was only average--generous but unimaginative. The service was thoughtful and prompt. We will try this restaurant again for the pizza.

We went to Pizza Bella before doing a painting class in Old Town and didn't want Mexican food (a challenge). We sat outside and the food/service was excellent.

We wandered in on a Saturday night, and waited 15 minutes for a table, and then another 10 minutes for our order to be taken. Maybe the server could tell that we were getting impatient, because everything went well once we placed our order. Food came out quickly. The food was average to above-average, heavy on the garlic. There is patio seating, and the restroom can only take one person at a time. Looked to be popular with families with kids and locals.

Good pizza place with friendly staff and nice ambience. Recommended by staff at Holiday Inn Express Airport (who provided coupon). Crust was good, although pizza was a little bland. Beer menus would be helpful.

In a recent visit to Old Town we had dinner here. What looked at first like an ordinary restaurant turned into a pretty special place for a meal. The friendly, efficient staff made you feel welcome upon entry. The menu was great. Service was first class. The food was excellent , but, you had better be hungry. All of us were really surprised by the size of the servings. In summary , a place that I will surely visit again when back in San Diego.

Went there on a Wednesday night with my son. We were seated immediately and served shortly after. We shared the meat lovers pizza. The pizza had great flavor depth without being overly salty and not so rich I felt overly full. We had the tiramisu as well. So good! Highly recommend.

I’m not sure what the difference is, but there are a lot of positive comments on this place and both my wife and I were totally disappointed. So disappointed we threw over half of it away. My wife looked at me and said, “I would have rather had Little Caesar’s.”

Good pizza. I wouldn't say it's the best but above average pizza. Garlic cheese bread is very good. Overall we liked it but not loving it.

The pizza was fine. The crust was good. There were ample toppings. The sun dried tomatoes gave the pizza a really terrible taste. The ranch and blue cheese were not good, and they were not made in-house. There was cigarette smoking near the outdoor seating, and although the waiter asked the people to move out farther after I asked about it, it was bothersome. Same with the vaping that was happening on the actual patio on the other side of us. Honestly, I had really hoped for better as it just wasn't great.

Perfect pizza. Nice chewy crust with yummy sauce and nicely spiced sausage. Probably best pizza in San Diego and a great alternative to Old Town Mexican. And the hand made cannoli was the bomb!!

Stopped in for lunch during vacation. The pizza was great. Lots of toppings to choose from and the service was rather quick.

Came here on a recommendation from my buddy is the pickiest person ever when it comes to food ( 6 8" 350 lbs + ) yeah I know. However Mikes service was exceptional , the Pizza was really good ! we killed a large thick crust award Winning Pizza and a must have Chocolate Pizza and a this caprese stuff my wife ordered. Yum Yum Yum

I went there the other day with my wife and daughter. I had their specialty pizza. It was good, however the crust is what the pizza delicious. We also ordered the bruschetta. That was quite good as well. The server we had there was great. We went before they had their dinner rush. Their beers are local as well. I would recommend it. It's a good local place that is within walking distance to many of the hotels in the area.

All the reviews are right, a really fantastic italian restaurant. Real ingredients and the meatballs are to die for!

We were on our way to another restaurant when the aromas coming from Pizza Bella stopped us in our tracks. We quickly changed our plans and were rewarded with a delicious meal, lovely ambiance and friendly, attentive staff. We’re sad we didn’t find this gem sooner.

Caesar salad, pizza and chicken Parmesan every time. So good. Tasty beers and wine as well. Have always had great service.

Wanted some where other then Mexican so ended here as recommended by our hotel. Ordered a house salad with our pizza but found it a bit bland for an Italian restaurant. Would have liked olive oil rather then the ubiquitous American sauces offered. Pizza ok, not really the best we have had but it hit the spot as we were pretty hungry. Was pretty empty in there considering it was a Sunday and Old Town crowded.

Very good food. Sandwiches are large. I could only eat halve. Wish they had Italian dressing instead of mayo for sub. But was still good. Meatball was wonderful. Can't wait to try their pizza. We will be back.

An innocent tourist in this beautiful city of San Diego, I asked a local where would be a good place to get some italian food. That person casually said, “pizza Bella is the best” and sent me on my way. I gave it and shot and now, now I’m completely ruined for any other Italian restaurant. The food was UHMAZING. I even had left overs the next day, thinking there was no way it could be just as good as it was last night and I was so very, very wrong. I give this place the highest of recommendations!!! FANTASTIC.

Absolutely awesome food and super friendly service. Pizza was phenomenal and so was the chicken parmesan and the pasta dishes. The chocolate thin crust pizza is a must for dessert.

Italian in Old Town? Yes! We were a large group of 15 looking for dinner and walked into Pizza Bella on the recommendation of some friends. There was a wait, which is typical for the area. But we were seated before too long and quickly our drink orders were taken. We enjoyed an array of salads, pizzas, and pastas. It was all delicious. The service was great, and it was all very accommodating. We would definitely return.

This restaurant is italian in origin with variety of pizza and wines , domestic and international. The pizza is individualized to our choice with spicy condiments. The price is average for its taste and quality. The house wine(chianti ruffino) is also special to try with less strong alcohol , according to recommendations of my waiter. House salad is also tasty and good for health , all organic materials.

We ate there with my daughter and a nephew who is stationed out there in the Navy. We had their "world Famous/Best Of" pizza and it was excellent. Nice little place with some outdoor seating. Staff were good, friendly and on point without overdoing it. I would go back - they have a full Italian menu but we happened to opt for pizza (do they feed these guys in the Navy?).

We arrived close to closing but the staff was incredibly nice and offered to make a pizza to go. They gave us drinks while we waited.

Pizza was fantastic. Pasta was equally good. We had a carafe of Chianti wine which was great - the carafe was LARGE. We ate in the courtyard which was quite nice. There is extra paid parking in back that the restaurant offers 1 hour free for customers. There is an entrance to Old Town State Park across the street. Service was also great.

I stopped in for dinner Friday after a long week and found great pizza, a nice beer and wine selection and absolutely outstanding service. The staff anticipated my needs and took excellent care of me. I judge a pizza by the quality of the Italian sausage and theirs was just spicy enough to be flavorful without being overbearing. The courtyard seating was very relaxing.

We ate here twice during our stay in San Diego. We thought the pizzas and garlic cheese bread were great!

Nice outdoor courtyard and excellent pizza. They offer personal, medium and large size pizzas along with some other Italian dishes.

We Really enjoyed our meal and experience at this restaurant. The pizza was really good and the service was exceptional. Will be back next time we are in town.

If you're in the Old Town neighborhood, give this restaurant a try. You won't be disappointed. We were in San Diego for the day to visit the zoo and stopped in here on our way back to L.A. for a late lunch. Food was excellent as well as service. We had Chicken Marsala and Chicken Parm. (both were excellent with large portion size). Served with garlic bread which was also excellent. Will definitely go back when in San Diego.

We called ahead because we had a a large group for dinner, 22, and at the last minute about ten of the group wanted Mexican food, so at the door they split off from our group. This restaurant had already set up tables for our group, but took the change in stride and accommodated our needs with no problem. The food was good, and service was fast and great.

My wife enjoyed the caprese salad and pizza for her birthday meal while I chose the Chicken Marsala. Everything tasted great and the courtyard seating was enjoyable.

Bella Pizza is located in Old Town, San Diego. It is located one block from the main drag where it is packed with humanity at dinner time. Bella Pizza offers salads and fantastic pizza while most of the restaurants on the main drag (San Diego Ave) are Mexican food. Bella's offer inside and outside dining and many Italian dishes in addition to pizza. Located on Congress St.

So your in Old town and all you have eaten for the last few days is Mexican Food and you want a change this is the place. The crust is homemade the restaurant is off the beaten track so its a little more relaxed and quieter. We each got a different personal pizza and shared. It was more than enough for two people. A quaint little hidden gem. It is a little pricey but worth it.

Andrew was very accommodating. We brought our 1year 7 month old son and we’re well taking care off. Wife had Greek salad and I had an 8” personal pizza. Dough is very good! We sat out back in courtyard. Very clean Restaurant . Definitely worth a trip.

We have Pizza Bella pizza at east once a week. We are n3ever disappointed because their pizzas are consistently outstanding...fresh, tasty ingredients cooked to perfection!!! We do not hesitate to highly recommend Piza Bella!!

This is such a lovely small Italian Bistro in the old town area. The staff is welcoming and eager to share their favorites with you. Pizza was piping hot (an absolute must for me!) and the caprese salad was fresh and perfect. We decided to try the chocolate pizza for dessert and I will admit to being a bit skeptical. However, it was just the perfect blend of sweet and savory and there wasn't a piece left when we were done. I'll be back next time I visit San Diego.

Looking for a good dinner and this restaurant received several recommendations. You can order predefined pizzas or design your own. The wait staff was great with just the correct amount of attention.

I had read the reviews on tripadvisor so was excited about trying this place. The staff was very good in suggesting wines, sangria, etc. It was a lovely restaurant but I thought the pizza just average. The crust seemed tough and the pizza average in taste. We ordered the hamburger, mushroom, black olive pizza but was just missing something.

Ordered delivery. It only took about 20 minutes for our food to arrive. The prices were better than for the other delivery pizza places.

We ate here on our last visit to San Diego and had a great experience. Food was fabulous and the service was excellent. We looked forward to visiting here again - you need a change from Mexican food! Visited on Saturday evening expecting a wait for a table in the middle of August and were pleasantly surprised to see a few available tables. It was 8.40pm - we were turned away as the restaurant closed for diners at 8.30pm and only carry out was available. Yes - you read that correctly, on a Saturday evening, in the middle of August, when every restaurant in Old Town was heaving, this restaurant closes at 8.30pm!!! By all means eat here, I guess the food is still good, but arrive early. It may be a good idea if they mentioned the early closing on their webpage.

I got the 8 inch with anchovies and my 10 year old daughter got the 8 inch with garlic. She said the crust is « better than most ». It is! Really delicious crust - perfect combination of crunchy and chewy. Lots of cheese. Nice red sauce. Perfect amount of anchovies. Server was friendly and attentive. It’s hard to find a pizza this good outside NY, especially in California!

Came here with my husband, my salad was very good, ingredients were super fresh, he had a pizza and said it was delicious.

Traditional family italian restaurant in old town , we really liked our italian salad and pizza a great end to the day . service was excellent and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Great place for family

Have been here several times and the food is always great - something different when most of the restaurants in Old Town offer Mexican Food - I had the Garlic Pasta and it was way to much garlic for my taste, so I only ate 1/2 of it - they have an outdoor patio area if you like to sit outside - we were there on a Friday night so the place was pretty busy so get there early...

When you read it was voted best pizza in America you kind of go in with high expectations. There is inside seating and patio seating in the back. The short and sweet is that the service was slow and the pizza was okay. And we waited a long time for our food. And then it was just pizza. Okay. Not great. Not bad. We watched some football. I might eat there again if given the chance. I would try something different than the pizza I ordered. Just in case they had an off day.

The food was outstanding and the service was great! Like being in a little Italian bistro in New York.

Fantastic food that we chanced upon on our trip to the old town. We absolutely love the pizzas, pastas, lasagna and parmigiana.

TripAdivisor helped us find Pizza Bella on the way to our hotel after a day at the zoo. It was a great find. The pizza was excellent, and the staff was friendly and prompt. We dined outside in the courtyard; the inside dining area seemed a bit warm, uncomfortable for an August evening.

It was right up the road from my hotel so was convenient. Got a pizza which was decent. Nothing wrong with it but nothing that would make me go back.

Hyped to be the best pizza in the USA you must mean that sarcastically. Being from Chicago me and my son know what a pizza is. My son has also had pizza in New York and those are the two best pizza cities. This pizza was average at best. We had the all meat pizza which is ham, Italian sausage, pepperoni and Italian beef. We could tell the ham, pepperoni and sausage by their appearance. The beef we think was the large cubed material. Real Italian beef, and in Chicago there aren't a lot of pizza joints that put it on as its for sandwiches not pizza, use real Italian beef which is thinly sliced. This beef appears more like thick gyro slices or chunks. We went with this selection as my son is stationed in San Diego and I have been on the road working in California for several months so we were looking for a taste of home. So we were a little disappointed. The pizza did have good flavor I thought and I liked the crust. My son thought it was not so good. We also had the garlic bread which came with some marinara for dipping. Split decision again, I though both the bread and sauce were tasty, my son thought the garlic was metallic tasting. I'm going to go back for lunch and try one of their sandwiches, I can't write them off based on one visit. The service was friendly and attentive, five stars on the server. We sat inside and I thought it was pleasant and comfortable. Having Sinatra and Dino playing is a nice touch. It's good to have a choice other than between 30 Mexican restaurants which is the predominant type of food in Old Town.

After meandering about Old Town, hopped on TripAdvisor in search of nearby restaurants and selected Pizza Bella. Just a short walk off the Old Town square, Pizza Bella is well-worth crossing the street and getting away from the tourist crowd. We were greeted warmly by the staff and seated right away (we were on the early side of the dinner hour). Great service, not rushed, and water glasses topped off throughout the meal. Pizza was delicious -- they did not skimp on the toppings and the crust was yummy. We also polished off a Caesar salad -- fresh and satisfying. They have outdoor seating which looked really nice, but opted to seat inside, which was cozy. It was a generous meal at a great value. Will be back when visiting next time.

The pasta dish that I ate was chicken with broccoli in a Alfredo sauce over linguine. The portion was huge, the dish absolutely delicious. The service friendly and accommodating. We would come here again.

We ordered pizza to be delivered at our hotel. It did take over an hour to get there, but it was still hot. Tasted pretty good as well, though not a lot of sausage on the cheese and sausage pizza. Would use again.

Adjacent to the Old Town Historical Park; great reputation, but less busy than places on Old Town Avenue. Comfortable; we ate there twice.

My husband and I were away on a date night, overnight in Old Town and happen to find Pizza Bella through Google search. Well, we were not disappointed! The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was open and spacious (courtyard). We feasted on Shimp Diablo and the Seafood Pizza...very, very good, fresh, and hot. We recommend that everyone should stop by and try something on their menu, as I am pretty sure it is all equally as delicious. :)

Came here a couple of years ago when my son graduated from USMC Bootcamp and recently, my nephew graduated. We decided to come back since the last time worked out so well and my nephew who just graduated remembered how good the food was the last time. Since he was the honorary, we obliged happily and we were very pleased with the way things went. They accommodated our last minute party of 25 outside in the courtyard/patio and with the mild weather we had, it worked out beautifully. We had a similar sized party 2 years ago and had the same results. Everything from the pasta to the pizza was delicious and the portions were decent.

Pizza was good, perhaps a little greasy, but had good flavor and the crust was decent. Certainly NOT the "best pizza" in the USA as they promote. Price was OK, $25 for a large 3 topping.

Our hotel gave us a local map and Pizza Bella had an ad. That caught my eye, so I checked TripAdvisor to see the reviews. So glad we went there for dinner! We split a Regular size Caesar salad and a small 8” pizza. We were full and even left with a ¼ of the pizza. The Caesar salad had very fresh romaine lettuce and the dressing was perfect - flavorful and not strong like some Caesar dressings can be. The pizza had home made soft dough. The sauce was flavorful, cheese was yummy and the Italian sausage was really good. Our server, Andrew, was really nice and happy he was there and we were there having dinner. Staff is friendly, too. It was such a nice, relaxed dinner. Beer and cocktail was good. Prices are very reasonable. Great restaurant…if we are ever back in this area, we’d definitely have dinner at Pizza Bella again. :)

It took almost 15 minutes to get someone to take our order after being seated, even for drinks, and I had to ask someone at the counter. The food was okay, but nothing I would crave. It is in Old Town so at worst I got to walk around before and after.

The pizza was very good. Good service. It is suitable for children. You can eat inside or out. It was quite busy. I assume some were locals. It is in the edge of Old a Town so is convenient if you are in the area.

Did you know that when pepperoni is placed UNDER the cheese magic happens? And the magician's are found in the kitchen at Pizza Bella! The food was incredible and they even converted a non-vegetable eating person to someone who is now looking forward to broccoli as a pizza topping. For those not into pizza (you are still loved) try the pasta primavera - the pesto is amazing!

This is the first time I have ever eaten chicken parmigiana and the mozzerall was literally indiscernible, sigh....I could not find the cheese, really disappointed......

I got into San Diego on Saturday 9/8/18 and went to Pizza Bella to eat lunch. I have been here before and my server Andrew remembered that I like Stone beer and normally ate in the courtyard. I was very impressed that he remembered e visiting before. It had been several months since I had last traveled here and stopped by. But, on to the food. I ordered a calzone and a Stone IPA and was not disappointed with either. The calzone was very large and filled with my favorite meats. The beer was cold and the service was OUTSTANDING! If you are in Old Town San Diego and want a change of pace from Mexican food, Pizza Bella is a great choice.

We ordered a medium pizza and a small salad and it was way too much food for a couple in their 60s. They really use a lot of toppings on their pizza. You can tell they use very quality ingredients. Service was very good as was the pizza. We are anxious to return on our next trip to San Diego.

We liked the philly sandwich and ham and cheese sandwich which was delivered to our room. The cannelloni and lasagna we had later on when we visited old town wasn't great. Service was good though.

Was looking for something not Mexican in old town and was recommended this place. I have a simple dinner of minestrone soup with spaghetti and meat sauce. Service was outstanding food was wonderful and the table next to me had this incredible looking pizza. Relatively inexpensive for the portions. Two thumbs up!

Stopped in for a bite while we were exploring Old Town. The pizza was fantastic and the service friendly. Would highly recommend the Sigma Chi and the Sweet and Hot pizzas. My only complaint is that I’m a tourist and can’t eat here more often!

If you are looking for an old school Italian dinner look no further. Big portions, thick gravy, and good meat balls.

Loved the pizza. They are very generous on toppings. Had the Works and the Sigma Chi. Both were good. Was glad that the half pesto sauce on the pizza wasn't really strong. We liked The Works better. Simple but Nice atmosphere here too.

Pesto delight was really good and a change from tom sauce. Also try teh mushroom special with tons of things that didn't leave much mushroom flavor but we liked it. Good craft draft beer

Decided we did not want any Mexican food so this place was recommended to us by the front desk agent at our hotel. Portions are large and prices very reasonable. We enjoyed it so much we went back a second time. The first time we had to eat inside because the courtyard was having a private party the second time we ate in the courtyard and you would never know that you were in Old Town.

I love pizza and when I read the reviews for this place and I noticed it was close to where I was staying, I had to try. I was a bit disappointed. It is not a bad place and the pizza was not bad. But maybe my expectations were too high. The pizza is just average, like many others. Nothing special at all. The cheese and chocolate pizza was the best part of the meal because I am crazy about chocolate, but again not great. The place is really ok with an ok pizza.

Food was ok, large portions but pizza on metal plate with real tomatoes instead of salsa was very disappointing for my children.

We stopped here on a Saturday night and it wasn't overly crowded, so we were seated right away. All of us had pizza and it was amazing. A medium fed about 3 of us, giving us two large slices each. Just be aware that kids are charged the full price for beverages. Overall a great experience.

Great food! My wife had a GIANT salad and I had one of the best Philly Cheesesteaks I have ever had! Lou was very personable and helpful. Would def go back.

Obviously most restaurants in the Old Town are Mexican which is fine but we had a teenager who isn't keen on that cuisine so we looked for sonething else. Saw the great reviews for this place and went in about 8.30. We were seated in the courtyard which was a lovely place for dinner. Pretty standard Italian menu with a very reasonable wine list. We shared a medium pizza and our son had the Chicken Parmesan. The chicken was superb and the pizza was one of the best I have ever tasted. Portions were very large - it's rare to get quality and quantity together. It's slightly off the main square but well worth searching out. Just be aware it closes quite early - around 9.00pm I think. Enjoy.

We got in town late evening and we were very hungry. Ordered pizza for delivery. The food was very good and the orders arrived quickly to our hotel

While on a business trip to San Diego, we ordered lunch from here 2 days. They delivered the first day to our office nearby and it was so convenient. Ordered a personal Margherita pizza which was tasty, but WAY too much garlic under the cheese. The side salad was fresh, but a bit expensive for the size. Better value to buy a regular salad. For the second lunch, I ordered a sandwich. They are huge and I loved the bread! If you love bread, this will make you happy. If you are eating light, half is plenty. I saved half for the next day. (the pizza and salad was also enough for 2 meals!).

Went there for lunch after my son's Marine's graduation. Everyone enjoyed their food. Portions were good sizes. The Shrimp Diablo was fantastic! It seemed like meals were reasonably priced.

My husband and I had dinner twice here during our recent quick stop over in San Diego. We love eating here. Service is great as well as the food. Feels like a homey establishment. Will absolutely return

Nice Italian-flavored spot. Ordered pizza to pick up, which was tasty. Quaint spot with a nice patio area.

If you are visiting Old town then definitely eat at Pizza Bella. It's one of the best pizza places I have ever been. There's 2 hour limited spot street parking right in front of the restaurant and at the back side of the restaurant. Must go place!!!

Good food, good prices. Service excellent. Went 3 times for dinner in a four night stay. First night did not care for the entree. Was immediately offered another entree. Declined the offer and was surprised to have them take the item off the bill. Very classy and gracious. No complaints with anything else served...

Visited on a warm September evening and sat in the outdoor courtyard. Attentive & faultless service, delicious food. Would highly recommend

we were seated quickly with nice waiters ordered garlic cheese bread and mediterranean salad large feed four if us couldnt finish the pizza gonna have to feed the boys leftovers later

Whenever we visit the area, we make it a point to dine at Pizza Bella. Excellent food! I usually get the pizza or lasagna. My wife gets the calzone. We have been adding Pizza Bella to our list of 'must visit' restaurants for years. Never a disappointment. We decided to order on-line and take it back to our hotel room since Uber eats couldn't seem to get anything correct. Constantly rejected our credit card. There was nothing wrong with the card -- it was Uber eats. We just gave up and ordered directly through Pizza Bella.

A quaint spot, with a beautiful name “Bella”, extending into a 2-storied business structure’s courtyard. It is informal and nothing special. They advertise “Sigma Chi” as award winning, we had time to wait as our AMTRAK Surfliner was hours delayed, hence too was waiter service here - due Cell Phone breaks. We expected culinary creations and to be singing “When a moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie That's amore When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine That's amore…” the primavera vegetables atop the baked pizza - are uncooked, not fresh & hard to crack - like carrots, broccoli, zucchini. The only award this Sigma Chi pizza earned, in our opinion is heartburn and over $23 for a medium pie.

On holidays and find Pizza Bella in the tourist area of old town San Diego claiming to be the best pizza in America. I was a little sceptical. Had the Mediterranean Salad and two pizzas, the Sigma-Chi and The Works. Not just good, Great! Super service, great menu advice. Would definitely go back. All four of us loved the food and the atmosphere.

My wife and I used to rent a place close to this pizzeria and would go a few times a month. We love it. Since we bought a house last year we no longer are close by but I still try and pick up a pizza or calzones on my home from work. The owner usually is there working so everything is always fast and the food is always amazing. Highly recommend the calzones. They are simply amazing.

We were in San Diego for 5 days was at the restaurant 3 times. Staff and food excellent. Make your own pizza, huge calzones, etc. Would suggest, around the corner from Old Town San Diego

A medium pizza was enough for three people at lunch. Great crust with just the right sauce and cheese. Great service.

We went to Pizza Bella this year after enjoying ourselves there last year and they continue to provide excellent food in a delightful setting with efficient, friendly service. They serve much more than pizza and the three different pastas and the pizza we had were delicious. The setting works well for both families and couples and they do have some parking in the back.

We were looking for a good pizza restaurant and found a great one. The deep dish pizza we had was just terrific. It took a little time to make, but it was just great. The service was just excellent and very attentive. Just a great place.

This place is magnificent. Pizza was excellent. I eat a lot of pizza and this is basic but excellent. Lou was a great waiter! My bride had spaghetti with meat sauce. Great ambiance and even better prices. Great break from the Mexican food in Old Town.

We stopped here for a quick bite before a night tour of Old Town ordering a sausage pizza and meatball sub to share. Both were really tasty. The flavors of the meatballs, sauce, and probably one of the freshest rolls I’ve ever had were authentic Italian.(I felt like we were at Nana’s house.) The pizza has won awards as the best in America and it was very good. I’ll let you decide if it is your favorite of all time. The crust was perfect in thickness and cooking, having a crunch when taking a bite. The pie also had the same yummy sauce and generous cheese. Worth more than the quick stop we made. Say, “Hi” to Andrew - he’s a great server.

Located Mid Old Town. Very very busy place. Note, I'm from Detroit and know great pizza. This aint it. The crust was tough, could not cut it with a knife. Our pizza had the works and to keep from burning the crusts they undercook the top of the pizza. I would rate i average, had better had worst. I actually like california pizza from years ago being stationed there. This aint it. The people next to me had spag and meat sauce and it looked ok but for $15 thats kind of spendy.

We visited Old Town and were looking for something besides Mexican food since that's all we could find. We stumbled upon this restaurant. They were very accommodating for our large group. The pizza was fabulous. The choices were wonderful and unique. Even gluten-free crust, which was marvelous!

We had a meatball sub and a plain cheese pizza delivered. Both were very tasty. We ordered delivery which was prompt with the food nice and hot.

I had the home made minestrone soup, had their "side" salad that was pretty large with real greens and tomatoes, not iceberg lettuce. Then I had the lasagna which was meaty with a really nice thick sauce. Their wine list is pretty good and I had a Chianti that was excellent and not over priced. The service was at a very friendly from the moment I entered. My dinner was the best of everything.

Last day on our trip, and our grand daughter wanted to have pizza... we were in Old Town expecting to grab some Mexican food - the driver on the hop on - hop off bus, suggested Pizza Bella - Glad we asked, it was fantastic!!!

Just finished a wonderful lunch of manicotti with a mix of marinara and pesto sauce. Oh my gosh is all I can say. It was scrumptious. This place was recommended by our hotel and I am so glad I listened. Yummy.

We were tired after a day at Sea World. We decided to check out Pizza Bella. My hubby is from NY and I lived there too. I had the garlic pasta and it was amazing! My daughter had cheese raviolis and she said it was ok, we are sauce snobs (it was still tasty) My hubby had manicotti and added a meatball. He enjoyed it very much. We saw a huge pizza delivered to another table. It looked and smelled delicious! We will have to come back and visit again! We would definitely recommend eating here.

We decided to stay in and order pizza to our motel room and Pizza Bella was recommended by the desk clerk. The pizza was great and service was very fast for delivery. They do charge a small delivery charge. The only problem we encountered is that the prices on the in room menu were not the prices that we were charged. Most items had increased by a $1 or so and new menus had not been provided to the motel
Best in San Diego
Came recommended by hotel staff. They delivered to my room. I ordered the Sigma Chi. Excellent choice. Great customer service from the person who took my order by customizing a individual Mediterranean salad to the delivery guy that came to the door.
