Delicious- Highly recommend Family Owned Restaurant

By Amy S |

I was in San Diego looking for a place to get a bite to eat and to watch the World Cup matches. Pizza e Birra was recommended. Great little place with fab food & service. Plenty of flat screens to watch the match and the staff was very attentive. They use fresh ingredients and the wood fire PIZZA is delicious. There BRUSCHETTA is a great little starter too. If your in the area you should definitely check it out. Plenty of options on the menu. Looking forward to trying their CALZONES.

Pizza and beer

Pizza, sandwiches, pastas, salads and beer. Also a great selection of wine. Great happy hour and mug club specials.

A wonderful surprise!

By Eric D |

I was staying at a hotel in San Diego for 1 night and needed some dinner. I had no transportation and don't know the area at all. So I looked online for delivery recommendations. Pizza e Birra had great reviews and they all said how nice the staff are as well. From the time I called in my order I knew I made the right choice! The gentleman was so polite and helpful. He asked if I was local or just visiting. When I said just visiting, he said he would put a surprise in my order. The delivery was fast and very friendly. I ordered the penne pesto and the summer strawberry salad. Both were super delicious! And my surprise was a mini cannoli- so good! I would highly recommend this place and will definitely go back the next time I'm in town.

The family for 4 meal was absolutely delicious. Pizza the best we had in SD, spaghetti and lasagna was on point, salad, garlic bread and 4 sodas. We are full and happy. Very nice delivery driver as well.

Best lunch deal in town

Good pizza, great service, positive vibes from all = a return visit for sure. A group of us all enjoyed the mini pizzas. And we all agreed we'd come back.

Best Pizza in San Diego

By jonathan g |

This place is amazing. From the food, to the atmosphere, to the customer service. The food is deliscious. I have never been dissapointed with my order. The owner Sam is the most pleasant person that has ever served me. I recently hosted an event and ordered 10 pizzas, the guest loved it so much I had to order more. Sam quickly delivered it personally. This place will not dissapoint. Do yourself a favor and try it.

Not for Delivery

By Juan N |

Pizza was good, but at delivery pizza was cold and soggy. I would maybe give this place another try, just not delivery this time.

Excellent Pizza

Located just off the San Diego airport, Pizza E Birra is a nice spot for delicious pizza. Both the crust and the sauce are very flavorful. The service is very friendly and the price quite reasonable.

SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE

This was our 1st meal in San Diego and it was fantastic. The cheese garlic bread was the best I have ever eaten. I could make a meal out it. The pizza was fresh and delicious. So glad we found this restaurant.

Authentic Italian Pizza & More

By mr49phil |

We found this little hidden gem after finding a coupon online and then visiting their website. The pictures of the food and the variety of the beers looked very enticing. We order a flatbread with Ricotta & olives and the Buratta also with olives, both were excellent made with fresh ingredients. The pizza special was the Margherita, it reminded me of eating pizza in Rome, much different than what is served hewre in the USA. The pizza was very good but the sauce need a little more salt to bring out the marinera flavor. Nes time we are going to try some of the other unique pizza's on the menu. They have several beers on tap so we both ordered flights to taste the variety. My favorite was a barleywine. This place is a special treat, authentic food and very reasonable prices. The only negative is parking for all the restaurants in the area is limited. Treat yourself to something special.

MAKE THIS PLACE A STOP

By Kelly P |

😁We have been in San Diego for almost a month and we make this place a weekly stop! The atmosphere is relaxed with a menu that is varied enough to accommodate most everyone. The owner is a character and the staff is welcoming which all leads to a pleasant dining experience. The pizza is probably one of our favourites but any other items like chicken wings, salads and meatballs have all been tasty. We have been to Little Italy a few times but prefer this restaurant along with many of the other restaurants along International Restaurant Row in Mission Hill.

A Great Little Surprise

By JayInAZ |

Couldn't stand waiting in line at the seafood joint next door, so popped in to this place with no real expectations. We were very pleasantly surprised. The staff was really nice & helpful, the restaurant's outdoor seating area is really nice & cozy, and the food was very tasty. The fact that they make Arancini just blows me away - they could have used a little more filling in the center, but considering how rarely you encounter arancini at a restaurant, I still have to give them props. Besides, they tasted great, so I wasn't complaining... Pizzas were good, salads were excellent. Beer serving size was a mite small, but overall a really cute place with great food.

Great spot!

By orndorf32 |

This place is phenomenal! If I lived in San Diego, I'd be here all the time. I can't say enough good things about our experience here. From the food to the service (thank you Sam and team!), this spot is top notch. I got the genoveese pizza, my wife had the pizza of the month (spinach and artichoke) and my son was able to make his own pepperoni pizza. Plus Sam brought us over some red berry and marscapone desserts for the table, which were also incredible. Above and beyond, team. Well done and thank you!

Local joint great food

By Stacy |

This place is a little off the beaten path, but 100% worth it. The pizza is great, beer ice cold, cannolis fantastic and both the owner and server made sure to make personal connections to us. If you’re watching a game there are 5 large TV’s to ensure you don’t miss a thing- worth the mile out of downtown

Give it a try.

By PaganBabies |

Fast, friendly service. Their thin crust pizza is surprisingly filling, nice fresh green salad, and LOTS of different beers on tap. I usually can't find a red ale (even in bottles) and they had a nice one on tap! I wouldn't mind working my way thru their beer menu. Nice place to hang out for a bit before heading home.

Awesome service, good food.

Met another family for lunch. Lasagna and spaghetti were ok. Pizza was good. Fish special for New Years was incredible. Calzone was huge and great. Service was outstanding.

Great pizza, nice staff, cheap prices

By Cynthia M |

We discovered this restaurant during COVID-19 when only takeout was permitted. We’ve continued to do takeout (they have indoor seething and a nice patio that’s now open) because the pizza is DELICIOUS! The crust is thin and tasty, just the right amount of sauce, cheese and toppings. When we order takeout it’s is always ready in 30 minutes or less. And the staff is so friendly and welcoming you feel like you’re their long lost best friend when you walk in the door. And the prices are great too - cheap honestly for what you get. Give them a try - you’ll be happy you did!

Superb pizza! Very friendly and sincere owner!

By David C |

This place is superb! Sam was so inviting to me and my family. The pizza was definitely in the top 10 for me, and I’ve eaten a LOT of pizza all over the world. I loved that each pie was unique and handmade with care. The sauce was phenomenal, the ingredients first class, and the crust perfectly cooked. Thanks for such a wonderful lunch while we were visiting colleges in San Diego!

Great half-and-half pizza!

By Pathfinder141738 |

After a day at the San Diego Zoo we just needed something good to eat. Pizza e Birra filled the bill. We got a large half boscaiola - half pugliesi to go and took it to our hotel. Great flavors. Slices were irregularly cut, but fold them up and munch away. Added a local beer from the bar in the hotel and it was heavenly.

Great dining experience and amazing pizza

By Kelly R |

This place was delicious. Great food, service and atmosphere. Initially ate pizza from here at my work when it had been picked up to go and it was so so good even then. In restaurant even better and was a hit with my family. 100% recommend for take out or in restaurant dining.

12 inch or 20 inch?

By Johnny Trekkie |

MATHEMATICS 201P: GEOMETRIC CIRCLES & PIZZA Winter Quarter 2016, Professor Chun P We settled on the "Pep-Shroom"... but $11 for 12 inches or $19 for 20 inches? Area of a Circle = 3.14(Radius^2) Radius = half the diameter(length a circle) 12 inch pizza = 3.14(6^2) = 113.04 sq/inches of pizza 20 inch pizza = 3.14(10^2) = 314 sq/inches of pizza Conclusion #1: The 20 inch pizza is 2.77 times more pizza than 12 inch, almost 3 times! Conclusion #2: The 20 inch pizza only costs 72% than the the 12 inch. Conclusion #3: 20 inch pizza costs 6 cents per a sq/inch vs 10.3 cents for the 12 inch pizza. So hopefully you chose dining companions whom aren't picky about toppings or have some annoying made up food allergy so y'all can settle on a big 20 incher. The Pep-Shroom Pizza is a tasty New York style thing crust pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms, my two favorite toppings. Sauce was tasty. We all agreed this was good pizza, but prefer a crispier crust, so next time I'll ask they leave it in the oven for another 60-90 seconds. $3 Garlic Knots were fabulous. Craft beer prices were standard, but they should also post the serving size. Server was friendly and prompt. I'll be back!

Great great pizza

By Sa-i44 |

It was a Saturday night and we had no plans. Our married kids stopped by and we decided to have dinner. Not wanting to cook, we decided on pizza. Our son suggested Pizza e Birra, just down the street. How had I never heard of it? We drove over and had no problem with on street parking. Walked in and were surprised it wasn't packed. Clearly not enough people know about this one year old establishment. Good for us. Not so good for them. Although there are a lot of personal beer mugs on the wall, so there clearly is a following. We sat down and ordered wine (comes in 6- or 8-ounces), beer and an iced tea (comes in several flavors both sweetened and unsweetened). Lots of beers on tap, thus the name, "e birra." We shared a capresse salad which was great, although they are known for their mozzarella ball. And then pizza. It was a hard choice but we settled on one with tomato sauce, mozzarella, olives, artichoke hearts, and mushrooms. DELICIOUS! Our second was tomato sauce, mozzarella, basal and caramelized onions. Even more delicious. The pizzas are all 12 inches and 2 were plenty for the 4 of us. Great evening. Great pizza. We will be back.

Birthday Party

By Heather M |

5-STARS!!! We celebrated my son's birthday here...truly couldn't have been more perfect! Sam was amazing in helping our celebration to be the most perfect. Sadly, I do not recall our waiters name - but he was SOLID! Excellent on so many levels! According to "the birthday crew" the pizza and wings were PHENOMENAL!!! And as for me....I had a veggie pizza, no cheese (picture here) and it was heavenly! In summary, I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant! Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Environment: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cleanliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Would definitely recommend!

Great service & delicious pizza! Would definitely recommend for date night or a group outing. Plenty of tables, lots of menu options, & outdoor seating complete with cute light strings.

We Nearly Devoured the Whole Table! 5/5 Stars!

By Ash Eaton |

We came over to dine here as our first lunch in San Diego, and we were surprised to see we were the only ones seated. However, the appetizers and entrees were amazing! We ordered pizza, pasta, and other types of food and they were all wonderful. Our waiter Sam was very attentive, and he was very helpful in deciding what to order. He even recommended a few places to visit during our trip! At the end, he brought out a complimentary tray of desserts. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal here, and I couldn't recommend coming here more.

Knocks Your Socks Off!

Move over, pepperoni! I had the best cheese and soppressata pizza ever here recently. My dining companion suggested it as a compromise shared entree and I was bowled over by it. I’ve subsequently raved about it when others bring up pizza and felt compelled to share my feedback here.

Hidden Gem!

By jackiedee84 |

We happened to see this place posted on San Diego Magazine's Instagram and decided to try it out. We've already been back three times and we live in North County! The food is that good!! We've tried the pizza, wings, and salad and everything is excellent. The prices are very reasonable and they always seem to have some kind of special. Last time we were in the owner Sam was there - he's been working in the restaurant business since he was a teenager. He gave us a cannoli to try for free - amazing like everything else we have eaten here. The only bummer about this place is the parking is tricky. Try around the corner or go up another block on India just past Winder St. You can park there and walk back a block - It's definitely worth it!!

Best food around!

Thank you Sam! You asked us to write a review a few nights ago and here it is: Wow! The best brick oven pizza and calzone in a long time! It was so delicious. Staff is kind and friendly. We arrived late and were welcomed right in. Recommend this place to everyone! M&A
