Great little place for fantastic pizza

By Travellover6128 |

We were very fortunate to arrive for a late lunch and got a seat on the bar stools immediately. We have driven past and seen massive long lines in the evening! We had the arancini balls to start, which were cooked to order and extremely tasty. We then shared a four cheese pizza, which was a good size and had a decent amount of toppings. Service was good, quick and friendly but not too overbearing. Prices were reasonable considering the quality and location.

Pizza doesn't get better than this!

By bwdw |

Wow! What fantastic pizza with great cheese and sauce. The crust is light and is just right. It is worth a trip for a memorable treat. You can eat in or take out.

Nice experience!

By Artur B |

Well made pizza with fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is quite nice and friendly and the service is fast enough. Good place to have some well done fresh pizza but don't expect more or to stay chatting.

Okay

By Gigi |

I always pass up this pizzeria because the restaurant itself is the place where I love to dine. So I tried it with friends. It was okay the crust was good and the salad. But I was not blown away.

Amazing pizza!

By Love2GoPlay |

Pizza is authentic and flavorful. Crust is thin and has the perfect texture. Very fresh tasting, not greasy at all. Margherita pizza was delicious. Service was quick and friendly. Lovely!

Great, authentic

The Delfina pizzerias are excellent. Sides are good, too! Sidewalk dining, call to pick up and take out. Go early to avoid a line.

Pizza was great!

By barney4852 |

Rustic cramped small restaurant but pizza was great. I got the salsiccia with added arugula. It was their in house fennel sausage and it was delicious. My sister had the anchovies and caper pizza with no cheese. She thought she would probably add the cheese next time. Waitress was very informative so you could make a good choice.

Ok!

By Ro L |

Had lunch here and we ordered the prosciutto pizza and beet salad to start with. The salad was delicious! The beets were so fresh and delicious. It was mixed in with barley and cream which enhanced the beets flavor and I loved it! The pizza, however, was too salty and was very disappointing! I was only able to eat 1.5 slice which left my tummy hungry and unsatisfied. I would only go back for the beet salad.

Great

By Giles B |

Good pizza, the salads were excellent. I'd recommend the fennel sausage pizza although it was kind of salty. The attached restaurant might have space at the bar while you wait.

Grazie mille Delfina!

By Vince022 |

A fantastic experience! We had the chance to be seated at the counter, just in front of the chefs preparing the pizzas! What a show! The team works well to offer a very good pizza. I chose the Pizza Bianca with mushrooms and it was a delight! You have to write your name on a chalkboard when you arrive and they call you when a table is available! In our case, we could eat without waiting since we agreed for the counter! A very good meal! Gracie mille Delfina!

Good Food

By SFkix |

Came here for a glass of wine and ended up having dinner. The menu offers a variety of options, but you should at least order a pizza. They are good and well made, real Italian style. There's outdoor seating on the sidewalk. Huge windows allow for great people watching if you sit inside. The staff is friendly and precessional. If the octopus salad is on the menu - order it!!

Avoid - extremely dissappointing...

By SgtIncontro51 |

We came here as a family of three teenagers on recommendation from tripadvisor. The first thing we couldn't help but notice was the exorbitantly high prices. It is $13 for a single, run of the mill, though tiny margherita pizza, which is quite ridiculous. So we ordered one for takeaway - only to wait for over 20 minutes, by which time we were very frustrated. When we queried about our order, a worker saw that our order had been forgotten about in the recent orders lay-by, and we weren't even offered an apology. This is extremely poor customer service. When we finally tried the pizza, it was extremely underwhelming. I have eaten at countless well established pizzerias around the world - New York, Sydney, London, etc, and this one didn't even come close to any of them. It was salty, slightly burnt, and as another reviewer has mentioned on here - very greasy/oily. There was very little to admire. I haven't tried the other dishes at this place, but as far as a pizzeria goes (if you are looking for a good quality pizza), then I strongly recommend to skip this place to avoid disappointment. The problem is that this place has a SERIOUS identity crisis.

One of the Best Italian Restaurants in town

By belomiser |

It is hard to get reservations but you can find one on urbanspoon. Go for their pastas and their entres which vary and for their desserts. The wines are relatively inexpensive and pair well with their food. Their homemade pastas are excellent with just the right amount of sauce. We love their meat options as well. Well cooked. We normally get a few bar bites, salumi and then order and few pastas and a few meat dishes and share as the food is too yummy to have one dish Service is good. It is noisy and crowded and there are a few tables outside.

Must try if you're in the area!

By Elle M |

One of my favorites in San Francisco. The octopus, tomato salad, short rib pasta dish and mint tagliatelle all very delicious. I don't think there is anything on the menu that isn't delicious.. Especially the mint tagliatelle, the perfect juxtaposition of unexpected flavors make a great combination. It's nice to try something different every once in a while! Dessert was profiteroles and pomegranate sorbet. The profiteroles again, were the perfect combination of sweet and salty. I'm not big on dessert but I'd gladly go back again just for that. Waitstaff was very educated on the food and drinks and prompt and friendly.. My only gripe is how close you can be seated to the next table, unfortunately that is the way in the city.

Good local pizza place

By Avaya109 |

A nice n'hood pizza place with good wine selection. Excellent service. You'll be surrounded by yuppy families with expensive strollers living in a gentrifying neighborhood.

Pizza with "pizzaz"!

By Linda S |

Friendly, efficient staff! These people know what customer service is all about! The salads were extremely fresh and the pizza the absolute best! Absolutely would return!!

Love this Pizzeria

By EileenHurley |

Had a delicious Sausage pizza. Perfect late lunch. Second visit, wish we had a place like this in New Jersey.

Crowded, but Good Pizza

By Gailyn63 |

We ordered the little gem salad, which was excellent, and three pizzas for four people. We added mushrooms to the margherita pizza, though we got so few it wasn't worth it. We also had salsiccia and prosciutto pizzas, plus a bottle of barbera for $36, which was an excellent value. The pizza crust is thin, which is to our liking. The salsiccia was outstanding. It's a crowded restaurant, so get there early or resign yourself for a long wait.

Amazing Pie Worth A Try

By TravelswithTeens42 |

We stopped into Delfina on a whim. It's near a bakery we had to revisit (Tartine) during our last stay. Very tasty pizza. I think 3 of us shared one and it was adequate but I suspect there was a charge for each plate we used. Will still revisit

All the Foods are excellent

By Xudongh69 |

From the barrata appetizer to the cucumber salad to Margaretta pizza, every dish tastes so good. The materials are fresh.

Love this place for pizza and more!

By tsam1 |

Love these little pizzerias and have been to a couple of them in SF. Get there early and sign on the board or you will be waiting - but it is worth the wait. Local and seasonal with satisfying combinations. Great pizza but plenty to eat if you aren't having a pie. Tri color salad, grilled asparagus, meatballs, these folks know how to make a great margherita pizza - simple but easily ruined IMHO. Good prices, beer and wine. Go to any location and get good service once you are seated.

Not worth the wait

By sandypaw |

After an hour wait, we finally got a seat. Our expectations, especially after all these raving reviews were high, but we were deeply disappointed. We had the asparagus with poached egg and the tuna and broad bean salad as appetizers. Both appetizers were not bad, but not good either. The six spears of asparagus, one egg and some leaves of arugula were not worth the ca. $ 13.--. As a main dish, we had the prosciutto pie. The rim was burnt and the dough soggy. The prosciutto was good, but very little, not every slice was covered. Even though the piiza was really small. Yes, we could have said something. If somebody would have cared. And than? Get our pizza replaced by another soggy burnt one? The was our first and last visit.

A little bit of Napoli in San Francisco

By Stef K |

Really good Pizzas, the closest I have come to European tasting pizza in the States. Pricey but tasty

Best pizza I have ever had!

By EllenJoan2222 |

This is the best pizza place for Italian style pizza: thin crust, perfectly cooked, with perfect ingredients. One of the pizza of the days was tomatoes, fresh red and yellow, with ricotta sprinkled on top. TO DIE FOR! The broccoli pizza was also good! We also had the hand made fennel, onion, and pepper pizza which was amazing!!! The house salad and cooked zucchini were also awesome, but just get your own pizza skip the rest!!! Average about $15 per pizza is a lot, but so worth it, plus it is San Fran. You won't find better pizza anywhere else!!! Service was also great! Go early on Saturday because by 2:30, there was a long line on parties waiting for our table!!!

Don't get the hype

By CajunBeachBum |

We ubered from Union square because two different local folks told us it was "amazing"! Paid $14 for the hand torn mozzarella...and $20 for bland pizzas. The three meat balls entree was $16! Not sure what was amazing but I left just bummed. The servers were cute, at least some eye candy.

Excellent restaurant

By Parisian |

Love the pizza at Pizzeria Delfina. One of my favourite place to eat in San Francisco. Excellent service and great location in the Mission District.

Awesome pizza

By TravellingSMH |

Sure pizza is full of carbs and calories. But if you are going to have pizza, have a craving for pizza this is the place to go. Great enthusiastic staff who know the menu well. We also tried the roasted cauliflower which is a meal in itself. We also had the clam pizza. Deeelish! When you arrived you add your name to the chalk board at the entrance a neighborly and informal touch. Added plus--smitten ice cream is next door for dessert!!

Tasty Pizza

By LondonBuff |

Please try and eat here if you can get in otherwise get a take away. Good customer service and friendly staff. We were very impressed

Genuine Italian Pizza

By Peggy C |

I really like the thin crust of this pizza. It reminds me of the pizza we had in Siena,Italy. I would definately go there if you like thin crust as I do.My family were all very happy.

Great pizza and cool tunes in SF

By Lissandchris |

Super busy pizzeria next to the main restaurant (which is open in the evenings). When we arrived the place was full so we were asked to write our name on the board and waited nearby for a table. We were given a spot at the bar which was fun to watch the staff (all cool blokes - I did wonder if any cool ladies work here too??) make the pizzas... We were impressed with both pizzas ordered - Salsiccia which had homemade fennel sausage and the Napoletana with capers, anchovies etc. The crust was superb - light and slightly charred. The music selection was very cool - Velvet Underground, Johnny Cash, Clash...We are pizza connoisseurs having eaten pizza in many fine countries (and our hometown of Melbourne, Australia) and this was up there with the best..

Best pizza in San Fran

By Matthew M |

We were walking around the Mission district on our first day in San Fran and just happened to walk past Pizzeria Delfina and grabbed a seat. We started with the fresh stretched mozzarella, followed by the clam pie and when we thought it couldn't get any better we indulged in a bellwether ricotta cannoli. I must express how good this pizza was! It was cooked perfectly, fresh ingredients and the base was just so flavoursome! It's an awesome restaurant in a really cool part of town. The staff were fantastic. I have only good things to say about this gem! A must do when in San Fran

Uh-mazing

By ChristiW21 |

Tricolore salad, margharita pizza. Crispy, fresh, amazing. Really wanted the cannoli but resisted. Recommended by a local and I will definitely be thanking her. Must try!

Perfect Pizza!

By tom t |

As a full on Pizza freak and an active traveler, I always look for the best of the best when i'm on the road. Had lunch yesterday and have to say Delfina's pizza was fantastic...Had a margarita and added salami and prosciutto...it was cooked perfect, nice and thin/crispy. Also shared the stretched mozzarella and the meat balls...both were fantastic :) And, staff were friendly, helpful! Definitely would recommend :)

One of the best pizzas in the world. No joke.

By Wilson Howe |

Pizza is my favorite food, and this is my favorite pizza place. I have never been to Italy, so I cannot compare to there, but it beats any pizza I can recall. Thin crust. Very high-quality ingredients. Formaggi pizza is outstanding!

Interesting fusion of flavors

By Holidav |

We were impressed with the good fusion of flavors. Chicken soup was an Italian & Mexican mix. Marinated cucumbers added garum & mint (Vietnamese). The pizza crust was delish but they limited the toppings that would've given it flavor. Basil & cheeses appeared on only 3 of 6 slices. Service was decent but nothing special.

A little but too cool for school

By sers76 |

Having been recommended to experience Pizza Delfina we found that the service was below par and unfriendly, the food was nice/ok but nothing astounding and the prices were on the high side. I am always happy to pay for good food and good eating experiences but found that this was a waste of money and over hyped :(

Very small, very popular - go at an off time or expect to wait

By Webbuzzard |

We had the leek appetizer and the rice balls. both were very good. The pizza crust is crisp, airy and tasty. I honestly couldn't understand what the hype was about. i thought the toppings (two pies - margherita, sausage) were a bit lacking. however, the place is extremely popular and i thought a bit pricey. but hey, i'm a middle aged east coast person, with different pizza expectations. we showed up at the peak time on Sunday afternoon as a party of 3. we waited over an hour and were finally squeezed into a small area at a table suitable for two. When we left, there was plenty of seating, so avoid peak time if you want a quick eat.

Great little lunch

By RandRCalifornia |

We stopped by for a quick bite to eat. We got the pizza with prosciutto and arugula. Big enough to share for 2 people. Very nice light crust - brick oven style pizza. Friendly service but not a lot of seating - we went on an off hour but I can imagine it being crowded during lunch.

Cheeseboard in Berkeley closed this week? Here's our answer!

By Anniversary_minded |

This was our second visit to SF/Berkeley in a couple of years and we hoped to bring our Minn. son and daughter-in-law to Cheeseboard. Alas. No go. BUT, our Berkeley son's girlfriend had a great idea for lunch on our SF day: Pizzeria Delfina! Even tho' we were dining mid-afternoon, there was a fair wait for a table...like the long line we'd experienced at Cheeseboard! And, like C, we found ourselves in outdoor seating. Just a bit coolish, even in August, but the waitress was happy to accommodate our request that the overhead heaters be turned on. We tried: Arancini (saffron risotto balls stuffed with mozzarella, breaded and fried)...oh, so good! Panna pie with sausage (pizza topped with tomato sauce, cream, basil and sausage)...I loved it! Panna pie without sausage...gotta try to please everybody! Broccoli raab pie (white pizza topped with broccoli raab, olives & hot peppers)...not my favorite; pretty heavy on the broccoli raab, and the hot peppers were not so very. Prosciutto pie (white pizza topped with prosciutto and cream)...very nice; a tasty meat, for sure! Cannoli (crispy pastry shell filled with sweet ricotta cheese & candied pistachios)...a fun "dessert" I'd never seen before.

Super super super SUPER

By Dasdo S |

Simple-nicely located restaurant. It just appears Like a normal street-side restaurant. To make your life easy, take a cab to reach the place, or take tram (experiencing SF with tram is a must, isn't it?) and walk for around 1 km enjoying the nice surrounding SF-kind of building with the hilly street. Literally the best pizza my whole life by far. I have forgotten the name/kind of pizza that I had, but will not forget how SUPER GREAT it was. (Refer to pics please) Accompanied with rose wine for the late afternoon, It was uh-mazing. Definitely will come if I visit SF again.

Possibly the best pizza in SF

By qrtis |

Very good and inventive pizzas and service is ok. Nothing to complain about. We had a table outside and that was nice.

Top notch artisanal pizza

By msm55 |

This is another great artisanal pizza lovers delight. Try the mushroom or the margarita pizza and you can't go wrong. They also have a fine Italian wine list that's very affordable. The sidewalk cafe seating is very comfortable and not too noisy. For a great lunch in the Mission District I recommend trying this spot.

Perfect Napoli pie

By David M |

Delphina pizza was the one craving request that my wife had through pregnancy and the first thing that you wanted after childbirth. I suppose it's not much of a craving as we've been regulars there for years. Having studied abroad in Italy and through through Naples, this is truly authentic Napoletan style pizza. The salads are a perfect palate cleanser and always well balanced, And the warm olives are a great finger food starter. You can go with the traditional margarita pizza or try their special of the day which you can never lose with. The weight can be a little bit long with limited seating and no reservations, but well worth the anticipation. While you are waiting go walk to Dolores Park or shop around at the local Bi-Rite market.

Sit at the bar & watch the kitchen action

By Travelotely |

The bar is the best spot to eat if you like to feel part of the action. The pizza are very good -- crispy, thin crust and inventive combinations of toppings. The wine selections are notable for being both unusual as well as good value. Let the server suggest one. Make sure you try the saffron arancini as a starter. If you plan on desert ask them to save you a cannoli because they usually sell out and there is good reason for this! Enjoy!!!

Busy - Worth the Wait!

By Colleen L |

Service was quick & super friendly. Drinks were a bit on the expensive side. The food was DELISH. We got the arancini, gem salad, and a pizza (all were excellent). One weird side note was that you have to pay extra for a side of sauce with the arancini - which I was a bit perplexed about. Although it's pricey, and crowded, it was definitely worth the wait.

Pizza just average but the blacken chicken was great

By fizzy1991 |

So many people raved about this pizza and my husband just thought it was okay. Since I am gluten free, I had the chicken which was moist and juicy, with lots of spice on the skin. Since pizza places are a dime a dozen I don't know that I would go back again, if I was in the area.

Can't beat

By mtymouse |

What a great pie!!! Another place when I visit SF I stop in.....best pie ever!! i wish they had a location in YYC ..drool

Amazing Pizza!

By greerhere |

Very good pizza! This restaurant is very small and very popular! We were able to get in real quick before the Warriors game and we ate every bite of our Salsiccia pizza! Not a real impressive wine menu, but the rest of the menu was great.

Good Pizza Place

By JJ_SF_JJ |

Pretty good pizza and rest of the menu, which change time to time. The place is very small but it also has a few tables out door, so if it is a nice day you can enjoy it open air.

Some of the Best Pizza in San Francisco

By sokarys |

It's true: the pizza really is that good. Not certain whether it's the absolute best in the city (tastes vary--I also like Zero Zero, personally), but it's a very solid choice and worth going a little out of your way for. We started out with two glasses of the "Apollo" red wine and the the rock cod appetizer, both of which I personally found totally forgettable. Luckily, they was more than made up for by the pizza. The menu is small, but you can add toppings. We went for a margherita with onions, and it was so delicious we actually ended up ordering a second one. Knocking off a star because of the restaurant itself. It's really small (only seats a dozen people or so, plus a few tables outside), and people kept leaving the door open when it was cold outside. Given how small the restaurant is, it got chilly really quickly.

Awesome pizzas

By Pahari |

It's a tiny place so if you are there at meal times, the wait can be long. We however landed there later in the day and were rewarded with a seat. While the pizza arrived we had the Marinated Beets with Feta ( a trifle expensive for the amount) and The Hen of the Woods pizza and a simple Margharita. Both were just great.

Tiny place/Big taste

By eileenbs |

Right next to the restaurant. We ordered the pizza and picked it up to eat at our vrbo in the neighborhood. Perfect with left-overs to our 4 diners. Fennel sausage - delish crust!

Great Italian

By Mark S |

Dinner with partner and friends on a recent business trip to San Francisco. Excellent food -- everyone raved about all of the appetizers and main courses -- and our server was extremely friendly and provided just the right level of service. Would definitely go back.

Amazing pizza but expensive

By Magnus A |

Amazing pizza and great taste, perhaps a little bit too small to be honest , and comes with a high price.

Great Experience

By Jfed |

This is a neighborhood place recommended to us by a former S.F. resident. There were very few tourists apparent - by far the majority of the customers were locals, always a good sign. Also a good sign was the fact that this restaurant was very crowded on a Monday night. They have a unique system for signing in - you just write your first name on a chalkboard near the front door and wait as the hostess erases each name until they get to yours. My wife and I shared a pizza and some homemade meatballs - both were excellent. The only downside is the tables are very close together, so it you're looking for a quiet or private place for a meal, this is not the place.

Not too impressed

By Kat H |

As a New Yorker, I take my pizza very seriously. After being in Tahoe for the week, I was excited to be in San Fran to try all of the amazing food. I was told that this was the place to go for pizza. The place was packed so I was super excited. A large is actually pretty small. We were pretty hungry so we grabbed two different ones. One with anchovies and another with veggies. We took the pizzas to go and were a little confused when we were handed a box a lettuce. We actually thought that we got a free salad by mistake, but it was actually for the veggie pie. The flavor wasn't impressive at all. It was just average. Nothing to brag about. The service was excellent though! Everyone was super friendly and seemed to be enjoying themselves.

we had a nice meal at this restaurant and came at the right time

By Linda H |

So we went here after touring we found it thru our phones of course. Well service was a little slow but they are busy and have a lot of take out {which means it must be good} We had 2 different kinds of pizza all very good and the meatballs were Very good. This place is a very nice restaurant staff very nice and were very sorry for he wait on our food

Pete Za

By Adrian C |

Clam pie was really bad. Really tough and just not appetizing. Wait staff were a bunch of unfriendly people as well. Didn't want to give us a glass of water even though we were taking out. Though the prosciutto pie and margarita were pretty good.

Good pizza, ok appetizers

By Gio_barcelona |

The pizza is good and the ingredients are fresh. Prices are reasonable and is really friendly and attentive. I did not like the arancini and the olives but I d go back for the pizza for sure !

You have to try the Proscuitto Pie

By Jean T |

We stayed in Mission and wanted to go to Delfina, but of course, without a reservation that is impossible. So we went next door and had the most amazing pizza - fresh, crispy, interesting toppings and great service. Would definitely recommend.

Simple

By Marleenrod |

Panna pizza. Simple as that. I added sausage to it and it was a party in my mouth. I ate the whole thing by myself. Good dough, great crust. Also had the tempura fried fava beans with aioli. That might be a seasonal item , but that was delicious as well. Great menu. Hard to choose. Staff was very friendly. Small place but i got seated right away. Highly recommend it!

Best Pizza in SF

By 364foodlover |

This is the best place to eat a super thin and crispy crust pizza. Great service, fantastic prices and a nice wine list. We choose the Prosciutto Pie and also the Margherita which were both so good and satysfying.

Terribly overrated!

By Felicia H |

This restaurant is very poorly managed and the pizza is subpar. Unless, of course, you love a crust that is precooked before they add ingredients; my husband's pizza had uncooked prosciutto topped with a ton of arugula. He ordered a pizza not a salad:( I had the Alfredo pizza which was a special - it was just ok. We waited 1 1/2hr to get in & parties of two were seated at four tops; hence the observation of poor management. When people are waiting hours to be seated, larger parties should be seated at bigger tables. I feel we got ripped off not only for the sub-par quality of the food, but more importantly, wasting our vacation time waiting for it!

Not quite as good as our first visit

By SW2 |

Perhaps we were wearing rose-tinted spectacles for our first visit to San Francisco 18 months ago, which is when we first enjoyed the Pizzeria Delfina experience. This time around, we found a seat outside, but our experience wasn't quite as special, with the food being dull and 'ordinary', and served on a metal plate. The service was also not as friendly as we remember. Still, it's not a bad place, but this will probably be our last visit as we explore more of what this great city has to offer. The restaurant still doesn't do chip & pin, so expect to sign the old-fashioned way.

Perfect Example of the Changing Face of SF

By MagyarfromCA |

This used to be one of my favorite spots in town, but as the face and culture of SF has drastically changed, so has this spot. Most of my disappointment is with the sad change in clientele and their behavior. The food is still good, although everything we had was extremely over-salted and not really worth the increased prices. This used to be a greatly, lively place to grab dinner with friends, but now it's slammed with entitled, manner-less 20-somethings wearing flip flops and either loudly bragging about their jobs or all sitting together, glued to their devices, and not talking. It's no different from hanging out in the industry restaurants of LA where everyone's bragging all over each other. I suppose kudos should be given to the restaurant for continuing to serve good pizza, but those who know better (including me next time), will order to go or go here midweek at lunch.

Beat's LA's Pizzeria Mozza

By mikeyvero |

We were in town for Bay to Breakers and happened on Delfina while we were on a Wild SF Tour. Didn't have time to eat just then so made back the next day after the race. I had a great pizza and Veronica had chicken soup along with arancini. All three were excellent and the service was good too. Not cheap but worth it.

Pizza Pizza!

By Wilson L |

Unless you've tried the pizzas here, you will then understand why this restaurant (and its sister restaurant) is rated one of the top 10 pizzas to try in America. It is great to pair with a Peroni! They also have a great tri-color salad, along with Burrata cheese. A must try in you're in San Francisco.

Great pizza!

By Jordan |

Went with some friends, we all got our own pizza and finished it all! The taste was amazing and you could tell they used high quality ingredients. The only reason for not getting a 5 is that my wife and I thought the center of our pizza was pretty soggy...but we still ate it all!

Best pizza we've had since our trip to Italy

By Ramsey475 |

We were in Italy in 2010 and it was the best pizza we've had since our trip. I had the margherita and it was a perfect crust, perfect sauce, amazing mozzarella. My husband had a pizza with fennel sausage. Fun place in the Mission and such great pizza! We didn't have a reservation and had about a 10 minute wait on a Tuesday night.

Yummy piza

By Amy W |

This is my second time enjoying this great neighborhood spot. You always see a good mix of people ordering take out, and people sitting down at one of the few tables to enjoy the delicious pizza. I had a delicious pizza with olives, capers, and anchovies. It's great to get the little plate of toppings (real grated cheese, pepper flakes, and dried oregano).

Best Pizza and Best Service

By Leo |

We went on December 27, 2013 and the place was full but we only have to wait about 10 minutes to get a table for 2. What I really liked from this place was the quality of the service. Even though there was a lot of people and seems to be a crazy day all the waitress were smiling and giving a good service to everyone. The pizza came out really fast and it was delicious plus the price was really good!!! If you visit San Francisco don't miss stopping by this place!

Fantastic

By Planetravella |

We went to Delfina on the recommendation of a taxi driver, and were not disappointed. Full of San Francisco locals, the atmosphere is one of efficiency and friendliness. The pizzas were seriously good - less focus on the cheese, and more on the sauce. Great way to say goodbye to SF!

Great lunch in good neighbour

By LavenderQ |

The scallop pizza and the meatball were excellent. The service was an add-on with great. Probably it's a good sunny day in Burligame. I recommend for those who want to eat Italian food.

Best wine and pizza!

By nov193 |

Nice and clean inside. Serve was quick and friendly. Fresh veggie's and fresh cheese were nothing but perfect. I'll visit next time for sure.

Waited an hour and 30 minutes for what was nothing more than mediocre pepperoni pizza.

By Davemarels |

Was visiting from out of town and came across this website online saying it was very good. While they didn't take reservations, we showed up and put our name down on the list. (we were a table of 2). After waiting 45 minutes with no updates given on ETA, I asked if they could give us some sort of expectation on time. I was told 10 minutes. We waited 10 minutes and again was given the same response. We then asked if we could order the food while we waited to which they said no, only once seated. Finally after waiting a full one and half hours, we were sat. Still service was slow, only bringing out the two pizzas after 30 minutes. The pizza tasted mediocre, was probably one of the worst overall experiences at a restaurant I have ever had. NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. (2 small one person pizzas came out to $54 USD)

Friendly and good

By Larry W |

We got in just before the big crowd. Comfortable and not fancy. The food was very good, from the pizzas to the brodo and the appetizers. Creative menu changes daily. Service was excellent, friendly, and caring.

Great Pizza!

By bogwurst |

It was really good! We went early for lunch - just when the restaurant opened. If we'd come any later we'd had to stand in queue.

Excellent Pizza

By skytravelgal |

The MARGHERITA and the Panna are my favorite pizza's there. Always a line to get in but so worth it!

Excelent pizza!

By Paulo J |

The pizza is excelent, very fresh, tastes good. We have came there three times, and we have enjoyed every visit. Excelent. The place is very crowdy, maybe it is good to make a previous reservation.

Yum!

By jerseyjean25 |

Loved their anchovy pizza and the quaint little cozy design of the pizzeria. Worth taking the trip and snackin at.

Very good pizza and great service!

By PabloSantosIg |

After a morning visiting Mission and Castro we went to this restaurant because it looked good. My margherita pizza was delicious and my brother's (I can remember which one) was good two. We had a great and fast service. We still remember how great this pizza place was when we talk about our trip to SF.

Yum! Worth the Wait!

A delightful experience! Our food was fantastic! We enjoyed a wonderful pizza and pulled mozzarella with bruschetta. We would definitely recommend this pizza joint!

Inedibly salty

By Liza613 |

When you pay this much for pizza and salad and meatballs it better be really good, even in San Francisco. $20 meatballs inedibly salty. The toast that came with it had the rest of the salt box on it. Other problems, but I'm just fed up. Stop taking up space or get good. This was a delivery order through Caviar.

really great pizza

By Nadj |

We came here at 3PM for a late "lunch" and thought we'd get in no problem but the place was packed with an hour wait. Reservations are a must. Luckily they sell pizza by the slice next door and we grabbed a few and ate in the park nearby. Margherita pizza was amazing, so were the other slices we had. Good pizza, good price.

Delicious Pizza

By booradleysx |

Fantastic take-out pizza and salad. No tables available on a Saturday evening so our group of friends decided to get take-out and it was terrific with only a 20-minute wait.

Pizza reminiscent of Italy

By kpiddy |

Oh the pizza, they make it just the way I remember we had in Italy, thin base, little burnt bits on the edge, the right amount of topping, yummy mozzarella, lots of fresh flavours. We first discovered the food at this pizzeria on one of the walking food tours that we took while staying in San Francisco, on that occasion we got to try a margherita pizza, after one slice we knew we had to come back for dinner. On the night that we dined in we shared saliccia pizza (House made fennel sausage, tomato, bell peppers, onions, mozzarella) it came with a few things to sprinkle on the pizza: Parmesan cheese, chilli flakes, dried herbs. We each ordered a glass of Italian wine to complete the meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, come early or prepare to wait as this place is small and is very popular. I'm not sure if they take reservations but on our arrival and what I saw most other customers do is to write their name on a big blackboard in the restaurant near the front entry and then wait outside.

Flavorful salads & pizza

By agg2011 |

Every time I visit SF I stop at Delfinas for pizza. The pizza here is outstanding with flavorful & bold ingredients. Their salads are also incredibly tasty. Order the Margherita for a great pizza pie. If feeling adventurous, you can't go wrong with any of the other pies.

Great real Italian Pizza

By dorono |

Had 2 great crispy pizzas (prosciutto, Quattro formagi), plus a very good red wine. Clearly the pizzas were precise, made using high quality ingredients. Service was also gentle and friendly ,in particular the waiter easily switched our wine into another one after we tasted the one we've ordered, and were unsatisfied with it. Highly Recommended!

Great food

By isletripper |

We were there on a late afternoon Saturday. Tight space so seating is limited. Pizza was great and the arancini was a tease. Staff was so busy we sat for a bit waiting for the check. Otherwise, it was very good. Prices are what you'd expect for a great pizza and expensive town.

One of my favorite spots

By SomeAlex |

One of my favorite places to eat. Amazing pizza, love the atmosphere, prices are ok, the rest of their menu keeps changing and is usually excellent.

Great Outside Dining

By Fritz416 |

Recommend: SALSICCIA PIZZA MARGHERITA PIZZA Ate outside with friends and family. It was a little chilly, but they had the heaters going which made the temperature just about perfect. Great people watching spot. The dough, toppings, and cheese are all as fresh as can be. No complaints here. Had a very enjoyable evening.

Great Pizza!!!

By Pier Luigi |

I've had lunch at Delfina a couple of times and the pizza is just perfect (I'm from Italy, so I know what I am talking about!). And, the waiter was really the best, I did not get his name, it says Franco on the receipt, but I'm not sure.

Great Service & Great Food

By Idap_tx |

Who could ask for more. The staff was great and the food was awesome. I was there with 3 friends and we each got a pizza and a cannoli. The pizza was fantastic, the cannoli wasn't bad either.

So good, and it came to my home!

By William M |

Ah, the joys of living in SF. Had a hankering for their pizza, always the most wonderful crust, the tomato just sweet enough, the cheese way delicious, and the next thing I know I'm on my phone and a food delivery app and a little over an hour later two of the most wonderful pizzas arrived. What a wonderful treat! Enjoy!

Best in the world

By anita1104 |

We were strolling down Fillmore St looking to have an early lunch somewhere, when we walked past Delfina. The menu looked inviting. I'm so happy we walked in to check it out, it not only made my day, but I felt I'd had the best pizza in the world. Since I visit San Francisco often, I'm going to make sure this is a weekly treat if not more often. Only wish there was a better choice for vegetarians. Great desserts as well.

Nice

By lovetripsdd |

Very good pizza and very good service! The toppings were certainly not scrimped and the mixture of flavours are a delight.

Neighborhood pride

By lemoncc1000 |

It is pretty cool to be living next to pizza Delfina, it is super low key setting, high quality food, feels like your own kitchen. This week weather in San Francisco finally enabled us to eat outside on the street. We ordered our favorite cheese dish and a pizza, a pot of tea ( only black tea). We took a few minutes while waiting for our orders to grab some breakfast as well at the Tartine next door -life is good.

Totally BEST pizza ever!

By Kimberlee S |

Traveling with teenagers, we decided to find the city's best pizza. This was exactly what we were looking for....crispy crust with perfect toppings. Had an appetizer of asparagus with browned butter, breadcrumbs & pancetta....delicioso!! Small place so be prepared to wait if you go at usual dining hours.

Good thin crust pizza

By Jim K |

Had heard about this place from a pizza tour guide while in NYC. Had the Margherita pie and was on par with what we had in NY. Good stuff!

Best real Italian style thin crust pizza!

By ATMCC |

Love this place. We go there regularly for the pizza and the meatballs. It's always busy but worth the wait or take-out. It's normally hard to find the perfect thin crust in the US, that's why we love Delfina's.

Not bad

By Alia K |

It's ok, the pizza is not hot enough and the crust is a bit hard.. not bad but not great.. the waitress was nice but the host wasn't friendly at all!

Average Pizza, Rude Staff

By carjamin |

I have eaten pizza all over the world in all the best places and this pizza is good ... average, not mind-blowing. The experience is definitely tainted by the incredibly rude hosts and waiters. Save yourself a long wait in line and choose elsewhere.

Good Almost Neopolitan Pizza

By Chappaqua3 |

The pizza here was crispy and delicious but not true Neopolitan which has a wetter and slightly thicker crust. Have the cherry tomato pizza if in season. Worth a visit. Also excellent homemade Italian ice

Great Pizza!

By AmyB1067 |

My husband and I ate dinner here during a recent trip to San Francisco. We went on a Sunday night. It was busy, but we ended up not having to wait a long time for a table. We started with the pulled mozzarella appetizer, which was fantastic. I had the Panna pizza and it was fabulous. A simple pizza with lots of flavor and a crispy/chewy crust. We thought the price was reasonable for the area and will definitely come back next time we are in town.

Not much for the Big $

By fcoya |

Had lunch at the Pizzeria Delfina. Starting with $12. for a glass of bad red wine. The rest was a small salad and 3 meat balls, in a tomato sauce, highly salted with little flavor, the bill ending at $82. for two, without the tip yet included. The place was jammed with the lunch crowd so packed together and so loud that you could barely hold a conversation or move. I did not have the pizza, perhaps that is so magical that it brings them back. Perhaps it is, because it is in the Mission and trendy. I for one, think it is a rip off. It has nothing that merits the money they ask for, no terrace with lovely views, is no privacy, no comfortable seating, nothing much on decor and the food is mediocre at best.

Great Meal

By Bryan S |

Had a very good experience. Enjoyed dinner while on vacation. Pizza was amazing as were the meat balls.

Absolutely delicious pizza

By Linda N |

First of all you need to note that Delfina and Pizzeria Delfina are not the same restaurant even though they have the same name and are right next to each other. We had read that one of the best pizzas in the US can be found in Delfina in San Francisco. Therefore we looked it up and went there, only to find out there are no pizzas at the menu. While inquiring the waitress about why this was she told us we were probably looking for Pizzeria Delfina, which was right next door. Pizzeria Delfina was a small and very busy place, but as there was just two of us we got lucky and got a tiny table outside. We had to wait for our pizzas quite long but it was definitely worth it. Easily one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The crust was perfection. It was actually so good that we seriously considered going back there the very next day. This is something you don't want to miss out on.

Great Pizza

By Jayorbon |

We had the Fungo Mista, an order of meatballs and 2 glasses of red wine. Couldn't be happier with the resturant or the food. We walked at 7:30 on a beautiful Saturay summer evening, waited 5 minutes and were soon munching on some great meatballs. The Fungi Mista waz perfect with a thin crispy crust, wondetful mushrooms and s cheese rather than a tomato sauce. Wonderful. Give tgem a try.

Hidden gem

By Renato F |

Walking around Mission District looking for a place to eat we ended up finding Delfina a couple of blocks of the main street and it was totally worth it. Very simple and chilled... the food speaks for itself. Delicious pizzas with very fresh ingredients were the highlight along with a very nice burrata and a refreshing fizzy lemonade. The staff was also super friendly and overall everybody loved it! Congratulations!

Glad we came back for the pizza

By Va9nessa |

We had dinner at the restaurant the night before and got very carried away with pastas and appetizers that we enjoyed so much we had to go back to try the pizza next door. Boy was it a good call. We didn't order too much because it was a late addition to our Mission food crawl that day but worth the quick pie stop! We had the Prosciutto pie and I have to say it is some of the best pizza this side of NYC! Too bad I didn't have enough time or room in my stomach to give the other ones a try!

Pizza to remember

By Matlockmahers |

During our stay in San Francisco we followed a recommendation and lunched at Delfina. Their pizzas were perfect and crispy crust, house made meatballs were amazing and the vegetables of the day were just delicious. Also highly recommend the cannoli and coffee. Friendly and helpful staff made great recommendations to help us choose a delicious local wine and and the food was so great we came back for dinner a couple of days later. Worth the small wait - get your name on the blackboard and people watch until your table's ready.

truly outstanding pizza

By tigerinatlanta1 |

We stumbled on this place by accident as we were staying at a nearby hotel. We had no expectations but were pleasantly surprised by the outstanding taste of our pizza and of the tres color salad. Both were simple, fresh, and served in a timely manner by a professional staff. Really enjoyed it and would become a regular if I lived in San Francisco.

Spectacular pizza!

By Mygoldenticket |

Delicious pizza, great local beer and the best gelato and chocolate sauce. I would've given this restaurant FIVE stars if the staff had been friendlier. Tsk tsk. Too bad. This place had wonderful food.

Great buzzy little pizza place

By Snickershey |

I had read about this place before our trip to San Fran and literally stumbled upon it just as we were about to leave so decided to go in. The place was packed so we had to wait about 10 minutes to get a table and ended up seated at the counter, which was actually pretty cool. We were convinced to try the cold tomato and basil soup and it was absolutely delicious. The pizza was beautiful too as was the gelato. Great service, great atmosphere - I definitely recommend it!

Best pizza I've had in a long time!

By ccampbeb |

A couple of friends and I are in down in San Francisco for a work conference, and we settled on this place for dinner (after a friend of a friend recommended it!) and boy did we LUCK OUT! At first glance, the restaurant is super cute with tables both inside and out. They offer a ton of different wines and local beers. We shared the buffalo mozzarella balls and a salad as appetizers, and then spilt the Napoletana and Salsiccia pizza. It was plenty of food for three people (of course we were starving after a day at the conference). The pizzas were handmade with thin crust and FULL of flavor. The service was excellent. If we had time we would definitely go back again!

Best Cannoli in the USA

By 2Legit2Trip |

I love cannoli and I love pizza. Pizzeria Delfina has the best cannoli I've ever had in the US and is definitely worth the trip. The pizzeria doesn't have much seating, so if possible, order to go or go early to get seating. It's best for intimate groups from 2-4 people. The pizza is great too! I didn't want to stop eating it, but wanted to save room for cannoli! I also got a great recommendation from the waitstaff for a glass of wine to compliment the meal. Definitely a great dining experience.

Pizzarific

Cozy spot, the staff worked like a well oiled machine, very impressive. Everything we ate was well seasoned and executed to perfection. And yes, we went back a second time on this trip.

Fine Restaurant Week Takeout Meal

By Frank Sories |

This was the first time my spouse and I have eaten anything from this particular location. We have dined several times at their downtown location and have always been very pleased with our meal. Because they offered a special menu for SF Restaurant Week, we wanted to give the Mission District outpost a try. Although they did have an outdoor dining setup on the street, we decided to do takeout. The setup there was a bit confusing as far as order line, pickup line, when to pay, etc., but we managed to get our food without too much difficulty. The fact that the meals were packaged as two servings in single containers for $50.00 rather than single meals at $25.00 each was also a bit odd. Still, we found the food to be very, very good and the deal to be, overall, excellent. We started with the winter citrus salad with golden beets and preserved lemon; it was really fresh tasting and the flavors were well-balanced. The main course was a lasagna al ragu, which was made with nettle pasta; it was delicious, very homemade tasting, and truly unique. The sauce was rich and contained three kinds of meat. Dessert was a tasty tiramisu. The various components made for a fine dinner, and we would definitely recommend this Pizzeria Delfina location.

As good as they say

By Riccardo C |

Yes, this very famous pizzeria in the Mission is really as good as its fame. Pizzas are light, made with excellent ingredients, and simply very very good ! If you go late (i.e., after 21:30) you will skip the queues.

Outstanding Italian cuisine in fun, relaxed cafe!

By Midwest Mark |

My wife and I stopped here for lunch while in SF for Memorial weekend last month. We have been to the "more formal" restaurant next door, but this was my first time at the pizzeria. We arrived 10 minutes before they opened on Monday (Memorial Day) and therefore were seated right after opening. The staff was warm and smiling, very friendly and welcoming. We looked over the menu and decided to order some anchovies, a salad and a pizza to share. We had a few glasses of Italian wine (white and rosé) to match. Everything we ate was absolutely wonderful. My wife had been in Italy a few weeks prior, and said that the pizza was as good as what she had in Naples. I definitely recommend this place if you love casual and relaxed ambience, unpretentious service and great food. See my pictures and don't forget to wipe the drool off your computer :)

Best crust ever!!

By Mitdit |

This restaurant is a fun place w/ a great sidewalk cafe and an excellent wait staff! The meatball appetizer was delicious. The Margherita pizza and the clam pie were yummy, w/ possibly the best crust ever - flavorful, thin and crispy!

Sunday afternoon outing

By Kate O |

The six of us had planned on eating next door at Delfina, but our stomachs we rumbling and we couldn't wait until it opened at 5. The pizzeria was a perfect solution! Our party was too large to sit on the patio, but they say us at the counter and we happily complied. The saffron arrancini were wonderful! The wine list had some great Italian wines. We ordered 3 pizzas to share and didn't leave any pieces behind. Glad we arrived early!

Very bad

By Pasqua G |

There is nothing that can even come close to an Italian pizza... terrible, unleavened and super salty dough... not to mention the bill... 85 dollars for two margheritas and two beers... San Francisco certainly offers better...

Comfort Italian Food - best Pizza in San Fran

By djmontano |

My favorite pizza restaurant in San Francisco. The crust is perfect - crisp outside and chewy inside. My favorite is the Prosciutto and Arugula. They accept take out so have made it a weekend habit.

Pizzeria Delfina has been a favorite in the neighborhood for so long!!!

By Nancy M |

Pizzeria Delfina has been a favorite in the neighborhood for so long. The secret behind this is that their pizzas are consistently delicious, with a perfect balance of sauce, cheese, and toppings. Also the atmosphere makes it a great spot for gatherings or a casual get-together with family and friends!!!

Good Pizza & Not accommodating Restaurant

By pareshraja14 |

Highly recommend Pizza restaurants and good quality food. However I have been hundreds is Italian restaurants across the world and this is the first place it’s not adaptable or accommodating for extra topping like Garlic & fresh Chilli. The waitress says the chef will not do anything off the menu and this i fine it every strange. All Italians pizza restaurants are open for adding extra toppings and relaxed about it. I guess I will not be going there again.

Pizza!

By Felipe B |

Yes, that's the pizza you should have in San Francisco. Was there with my wife. We were very well treated. Service was great and a even better pizza!

Really great

By Mark S |

We walked a long way to get to Delfina's but it was worth it. Simply one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The crust was light and crisp, and ingredients fresh. I had the clam pizza which had a real depth of flavour. The service was really friendly too.

5 star pizza

By jaygilgert |

We had the clam pie, and it was certainly tasty. I was a little skeptical when I saw the lack of cheese and so much sauce, but the pecorino is a strong cheese and was a perfect balance to the mellow tomatoes that are not as strong as regular pizza sauce. The smokey clams compliment the charred crust perfectly to make this truly amazing. We split the pizza 2 ways and had iced tea.. For $30 we felt like we had an expensive tasty snack. The pizza is so thin it is not a meal, but if price or hunger is not an issue then you will find that this is a 5 star pizza. I deducted a star for price and for portion.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EVEN TO AN ENEMY

By ajackson933 |

Had literally THE WORST experience here wow. My mom came to visit SF for one night and I took her here. Biggest mistake ever, would have had a better experience at Taco Bell. As soon as we walked in the waiter told us "it's gonna be a while" granted he was the only waiter working but he was HORRIBLE. After 30 minutes of waiting we had to ask to order and he came back to ask us what we had ordered for every single item. He brought us the wrong food, food was pretty sub-par I've had better pizza from Trader Joe's, the same waiter spilled food on us (TWICE!), didn't pour our wine. We actually went into the other restaurant to find a manager but couldn't find one. A truly horrible experience that ended up being more than $100 for two cold pizzas and some wine. Would never go back and am still pretty bitter about spending that much for a truly awful dining experience. If you want to have a nice evening with good service go literally anywhere else.

Great Neapolitan style pizza!

By herbstfam |

We ate here on out first night in San Francisco. We took the recommendations of our Airbnb host and were very happy for the guidance. The pizza was excellent as was the Little Gems Salad and Brentwood corn. Our favorite pizza was the Cherry Pie. Awesome and oh so fresh! Proscuitto Pie and Margherita and Salsiccia were also very good.

Friendly and popular Mission pizzeria

By Peter A |

Delfina always seems to be buzzing with people and the staff is really friendly and want to help you swiftly. The pizzas where nice, but a little bit over prized in my view since they did not stand out of the crowd that much.

Solid pizza eatery

By Enrico P |

This location has a fine-dining side and a more casual bistro side and my partner and I went to the bistro side, at her recommendation, and sat at the bar. I would easily recommend this as a place to stop for dinner while touring the area or before heading to a show as we did. Delicious pizza with an absolutely perfect tomato sauce, generous portions which went you could easily share a pie if you weren't starving, decent wine selection and decent coffee as well.

Sinner

By Danielle B |

Great restaurant Thankyou ! We ordered the margarita pizza With extra anchovie and olives , we shared the wonderful meatballs And This fresh beautiful salad will be back

Delicious neopolitan pizza

By Shikha K |

Visited this place this weekend and enjoyed delicious neopolitan margarita pizza with stir fried veggies. Its location is beautiful and service is appreciable. A place worth visit if you are roaming nearby.

Nothing out of the ordinary

By luciordgz |

Not bad or good pizza. The service was good and ingredients fresh, but a regular brick oven pizza at a regular price The best thing about this place is the ice cream store next door that they make your ice cream as you order it fresh, very good

Quaint little Gem.....

By Stephen |

Having been to San Francisco a number of times I like to explorer the inner city (Mission in this case) and more organic places. Get away from the tourists and get a feel for what the locals get to experience daily. This little restaurant is a true find, custom created Italian food at its finest and fairly priced at that. The service was wonderful and I'll go back most definitely

Nothing to write home about!

By shmuel b |

The place was not child friendly, tried to stick us (4 adults and a 1 year old), in impossible table outside when ir was about to drizzle. The food was nit more than o.k. The cauliflower first course, was scorched on the outside but still very cold on the inside that brought the suspicion of it being frozen earlier, the pizza was really not exciting. Our waitress was very loud in voice

Great pizza!

By willman80027 |

Met the family at this restaurant and we loved it! Like most restaurants in SF, not a lot of seating area. However, we sat outside and they had heat lamps above, which made our dining experience comfortable. Great appetizers, pizza, and local craft beers!

Every bite delicious

By crthomson3 |

On a Friday night waited about 15 min at 6:30 for dinner. Got two seats at the counter which is fun because you can peer through and watch them cook. Shared an order of meatballs, a Tricolore salad with lemon vinaigrette, and a Margherita pizza. Every bite of each item was delicious. Especially loved the salad. The pizza crust is divine. With one soft drink, $47.

One of the best Pizzas I've ever had!

By Dan Fitz |

Great pizzeria with amazing food! the staff went out of their way to accommodate a high chair. Very nice local craft beer also.

It a typical pizza place

By ColleenQD |

This place makes ah-mazing pizza. But it's not what you'd think of when you think pizza place. Think fine dining instead well, fine dining that's more accessible and laid back, and they make great food that happens to be pizza. What makes it great? Fresh ingredients, high quality cheeses and oils, and the flaky thin crust is a dream. I also ordered a bottle of delicious wine (and they let me taste before committing, which was excellent because I didn't like what I'd tasted and accordingly ordered something different that I liked much better). I also had the cucumber salad. We had to ask the server the recipe for the cucumber salad because it really was that delicious. I'll definitely be back.

I LOVE their spicy browned Cauliflower--but the pizza is great too

By Julia N |

Who would have thought that you would find the best Cauliflower dish here ever. Can't seem to reproduce it. They said it is made on the stove top (not in the pizza oven like I thought) at a very high temp. But its the spices that make it so perfect. Pizza is excellent.

Fantastic pizza

By brockcork |

Firstly a confession -we stopped by to try Delfina, not the pizzeria adjoining it. Given that the main restaurant had an hour and a half wait and we had two kids with us, we decided to go for the pizza instead and we're delighted that we did. As they don't take reservations, we had to wait on the sidewalk outside, but 20 minutes later we were sat on one of the outside tables and our server was immediately over to us to help us start the meal. Super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list, we plumped for a tuna salad and three pizzas. I haven't had as good a pizza in many years and the quality of dough, cheese and sauce shone through. I'd highly recommend this to everybody but they won't need me to do that as a roaring trade was being done for take out and eat in.

Okay, but very overrated

By Alexandra B |

We visited based on several recommendations from locals. The pizzas are okay, certainly nothing I would go back for. We thought the place was very overrated. Pizzas were also quite expensive for what we received. There are a lot of other really great pizza places in San Francisco.

Best Pizza ever tasted outside Italy!

By badboy4 |

We spent a quick lunch during our first day walk in San Francisco. Great experience, wonderful staff and services, amazing pizza and starters. A++++

Tasty and different

By Curly |

We ordered the Salsiccia pizza. It was topped with delicious house made fennel sausage, tomato, onions and fresh mozzarella. (We had them hold the bell peppers.) We had to wait a bit longer for our order because they were training someone new and the first pizza did not turn our perfectly so they had to make another. It was worth the wait. The restaurant wasn't as busy as usual since we hit an off day/time. Normally you add your name to a chalk board on the wall and have to wait for a table or bar stool. The pizza was more than enough for two. They have thin breadsticks in containers to nibble on while waiting for your food. We will definitely go back again when in the area.

Take out extordinaire

By Bill D |

Enjoyed our takeout, ordered two gluten free pizzas, and picked up on a Friday night. The place was packed inside and out, but the pickup service was perfect. Young lady was very conscientious and kept checking for our order, even when it was only a few minutes late. Gave us cheese and peppers to go, as add one, and off we went home to enjoy. Servers were hustling and bustling around inside. Great general atmosphere, but with a packed house, the noise level would have been a bit too loud for me.

Late lunch, enjoyed the pizza!

By Morcella |

We were on a Food Safari with Chef Joseph. We came by this place towards the end of the walk. We stopped I. And enjoyed two different pizzas. Great thin, crispy crust, the house made sausage was a hit! The prosciutto, cheese topped with arugula was good, as well. Small area, great service. Indoor and outdoor seating!

Great pizza and more

By 777_Andy |

Definitely in the top 5 of best pizza I've ever had. Went off menu with the Diablo for some extra spice. Crust, sauce, cheese... so tasty.

Truly Italian pizza

By mirmiru86 |

Wasn´t expecting much when I saw the crowded little place on 18th street, but I was too hungry to be picky and the smell immediately reminded me of home. the taste even more so: the pizza was just like in italy, thin and crusty. the ingredients of the topping (we had a simple margherita) were very good, tomato tasted like tomato and mozzarella was fior di latte, both things are hard to come by in the USA as far as I know. service was very quick.

Absolutely great

By JacquesetJacques |

We found this restaurant by chance and frankly never had a better pizza in our lifetime. The crust is divine and, as we shared two pizzas on their menu, we had the pleasure of tasting simple and delicious ingredients, perfectly balanced. The tomato sauce that was used for one of the pizzas was paradise on our tongue. Do not miss this restaurant.

Delicious food, excellent service

By qc215 |

We stopped here for late lunch. We enjoyed the Margherita pizza and meatballs. Both were absolutely delicious! The service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and provided great recommendations. If you are staying in the Mission or Castro neighborhoods, this is a short walk away and great option for lunch or dinner!

Great blend of American-Italian pizza

By majormotoko |

Very good pies here. Not too many choices but a good blend of toppings and good veg pizzas. This makes for a place where they know what they are doing and speedy service. Staff is very helpful and nice. Good selection of both wines and beers. Small and very popular so if you have not booked be prepared for a wait. But the chalkboard list of the line for a table and the outside with benches makes for an ok wait with an idea of how long it will take. You can leave for a drink elsewhere if the line is long and if your name has not been struck from the list you keep your place in line.

Wonderful pizza

By EBTravelGirl |

I'm a fan of thin crust Italian style pizza (and I've certainly eaten my share of it!) and this pizza was great! I had a table outside on a lovely day and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience!

Taste of California

By Punch Drunk Cola |

Egg on your pizza, WHY NOT! :) If you want to have a taste of California Pizza then Pizzeria Delfina is the place to go. I have been coming here since 2009 and this place is good.

More than pizza

By kasvcstnt |

Great local spot for casual dining that makes great pizza. Great variety of small plates to satisfy many tastes. Also a good spot for lunch when open.

As good as expected

By Advokaten |

Anybody who thinks "pizza is pizza" clearly has not been to Delfina. We had heard a lot of good thing about Delfina before we came to San Francisco, but they were not exaggerated. The pizza dough was delightfully thin, the toppings delicious. Enough choices both for kids and more adventurous adults.

Compaes to the best

By Lafeti |

Delfina's pizzas are a must stop for anyone who's really into pizza. Second only to what we ate in Napoli. Airy crust, great tomato sauce.

delicious pizza

By mocheenpaw |

Have been coming here for years. Everything is delicious - appetizers, salads, pizzas, wines, and service.

Great food

By Amanda L |

We were lucky enough to walk in and get a spot at the bar. The staff was ultra nice and the pizza was amazing.

Great pizzas.

By William V |

Went for lunch on a business trip. Got the veggie salad, the peas and burrata, and the cheese pizza. All food was well seasoned and excellent. Would come back.

Can't wait to go back!

By Brett M |

My wife and I were told to check out this place for great pizza in San Francisco. We were able to on a recent trip and were very happy with the recommendation! The appetizers, pizza, beer list and the atmosphere were all wonderful! It was very busy so there was a wait on the Sunday afternoon that we were there but it was well worth it! I'm sure the next time we are in town we will make it a point to go back

Pizza was Good but Pricey

By EJW3 |

The pizza was good but the size was small and the price was on the high side. The server and the staff were very nice, but the service was slow and we had to wait a long time for our second pizza to arrive.

Loved it, totally recommend it!

By Hélène DSL |

Really loved this pizza place (California Street)! Attentive and efficient service, cosy yet effervescent atmosphere, and most importantly, delicious, flavorful thin crust pizzas. What more can I say? I really recommend this venue - clearly popular, it gets busy so be prepared to wait! NB: we sat at the counter and loved it.
