Perfection

By LeslieL4 |

Great authentic deep dish. Very nice atmosphere & waiter (John?) was excellent. It takes 40 minutes for a deep dish pizza to cook & he made a point of putting that order in right away. I had never had deep dish before & I can see that it is not for everyone. Expect that it will not be like some chain pizza stores.

One of Chicgao's Best Deep Dish Pizza

By E.J. F |

Early evening, restaurant had a line out the door. We could either wait 30 minutes for a table or eat at the bar. We ate at the bar. The bar had about 12 seats around it. Order was simple, one small Numero Uno & one Veggie pizza. We were informed it would take about 30/35 minutes for our pizzas to be prepared. The deep dish pizza arrived as promised. Hot, delicious & full of wonderful flavor. The two bartenders were ok, not very interactive.

Chicago Pizza still a hit

By travlingmama |

We were with family visiting from Europe and high on their list to try was Chicago Pizza. I personally love their crust on the deep dish pizzas. We all felt that the tomato topping was a little heavy but several different pizzas were enjoyed. Over-all it was a good experience and because it was a late lunch - early dinner, they were not busy. Service was good.

Deep Dish History

By Tex Hon |

Although you can eat outside, the moment you step inside you feel the sense of history of this place. The walls are decorated with photos of famous (and infamous) Chicagoans - we were happy to sit under photos of Coach Ditka and William Perry. The pizza was well worth the 40-minute wait, and we wished we could have taken the leftovers back to the hotel. We ordered a pepperoni and a half cheese/half spinach - all were fantastic but it was way too much for our family of three. Highly recommend Pizzeria Due!

Dip dish pizza

By Claire |

I heard it's one of the oldest restaurant which offers dip dish pizza in Chicago. They have few location around it. Make sure to know that the dip dish pizza takes 45min to cook, you have to be prepared to wait. The smaller size is more than enough for a single person. If you wonder what is it, it looks like a quiche with tomato. Nice to try

Really good

By mzz39 |

Visited with family and pizza was amazing. Different style of pizza To anything we tried before but thoroughly enjoyed by all. Bit of a wait(45 mins cooking time) but waitress informed before ordering so not a problem. Worth a visit

Listen up. We’re from Savannah

By tlfreymuth |

Listen up. We’re from Savannah Ga. This was our first night in Chicago. We decided on authentic Chicago pizza as our first meal. There were tons of choices. I invested waaaay too much time on TripAdvisor looking at reviews. We were very tired and ended up at Pizzeria Due which was highly recommended AND close to our hotel. Long story short, DELICIOUS!!!! We have never had a pizza crust that was more like a buttery, crispy biscuit than a traditional pizza crust. Don’t think about it. Eat here. We also ordered an appetizer of meatballs which was amazing.

Perfect team dinner!

Our first night in Chicago, we hade booked “How to make your own deep-dish Chicago pizza”. And it couldn’t have been better!! It was the perfect introduction! And so lovely staff!

The go-to place for great Chicago-style pizza!

By xnlover |

Pizzaria Due is my go-to place for great Chicago-style pizza. I usually order the Numero Uno that is simply stuffed with meat and veggies. Because the flavors and juices of the fillings seep into the crust during the baking process, the crust is a delightful part of the meal rather than being something one would cut off and leave on the plate uneaten. My friend and I ordered a small along with a single dinner salad and two brews and found that it was just the right amount of food for each of us. Whether one goes with a Groupon, as we did, or simply pays regular price, the food and the atmosphere are well worth it! I called for a reservation early on the day we were planning on eating there and was told that they don't normally take reservations the day of; but the hostess gave me one anyway. (I'd recommend making your reservations at least the day before, as I will from now on.) In addition, since my friend and I were planning on going to a concert that evening, I asked that the pizza be ready when we got there, since it takes 45 minutes cooking time for deep dish. When we got there, the place was hopping; but we were seated quickly because of our reservation, and ahead of a number of people who had already been waiting for a while before we arrived. We ordered some brews and a small salad to share; and they were brought quickly. I have a feeling the pizza was ready when we got there; but since they wanted to give us time to eat the salad, the pizza ended up getting delivered to the table about 20 minutes after we sat down - the perfect time for us to eat and get to our concert on time! I've always found the service to be very accommodating. The restaurant is associated with Pizzaria Uno, which is a block away; but Uno doesn't offer Groupons, and Due does. Whichever one you go to, I believe you'll come away completely satisfied.

Best Gluten free pizza we had in Chicago! Deep dish was well liked as well!

By Louise M |

After two not-so-good gluten free pizza experiences in Chicago, we finally found a fantastic one! The crust was crispy and tasted like a regular thin crust. The flavor was rich and yummy. We had the vegetarian, subbing roasted garlic for the bell peppers. The guys enjoyed the deep dish also. The pub atmosphere was nice.

Never Again

By S2M |

We have been wanting to visit this establishment for a long time. Should have kept waiting ..........Service was mediocre. A little too laid back and I am a really laid back kind of dude. I am all for legalization but if you can't handle it at work, keep it at home. Server just couldn't keep track of practically anything. Served us "1" water which had a fly on top......asked for a new water and returned 10 minutes later and said "I made sure this was fly-free water". Funny in a way, but to my young daughter, not so much. She lost her appetite at that point. Asked for a soft drink refill...........had to ask for it 15 minutes later. Pizza was fair, nothing special. Waited at least 45 minutes. I realize it was a deep dish so wait time not a big factor. Do not come here with high expectations, you will surely be disappointed. The dining area wasn't crowded, 3 people at 1 table when we arrived is all.

So good!

By WannabeTraveler01 |

I called ahead to see what the wait time was and I was told an hour for four of us. We opted to just order togo and pick it up. We each got 7” individual pizzas and they did not disappoint! It was my first experience having Chicago deep dish and I was pleased! We will most definitely be returning!

Chicago style pizza a must

By IronLenny |

At Pizzeria Due they bake the topping on top not inside. You can also get a thinner crust. Outside seating allows you to watch the city life. Was close to our hotel so made for an easy choice for lunch.

Cubs Fans Eat Here

By CubbyFan2016 |

You shouldn’t visit the Windy City and miss deep dish pizza. People argue over their favorite places, but we’re fans of Uno and Due Pizzerias. Great sauce- walking distance if you’re staying near the magnificent mile- and normally if one is crowded, a quick walk down the block can save you 10 minutes or more in wait time. After a reasonable wait for a Friday night,(20 minutes)we were seated on the patio. our server (Swen-don’t call me Sven) was attentive and provided awesome service. He brought drinks and took app and salad orders within 5 minutes. As we finished the salad and cheesy garlic bread, our pizza arrived. You can place your order when you put in your name to cut down on wait time. The Cubs won earlier in the day so great food and service was a perfect ending to the day.

UNO's sister restaurant that is easy to enter by yourself

By W00Boo |

I went to DUE this time because the Deep Dish Pizza I had at UNO was delicious a long time ago, but I was not impressed like before. There are personal sizes smaller than Small, so you can go it alone, but it's better for a few people to try things out. Caesar salad was not delicious.

Where the Chicago-style pizza started.

By MrsRC72 |

Super place. Great atmosphere with a family feel to it. Menu offered a great choice. Very friendly service. When we ignored the pizza size recommendations (we were ravenous!!), the waitress kindly advised us to stick to them- and she was absolutely right! Don’t be deceived...these delicious pizzas ARE deep and very filling. Great quality food.

Overpriced for what it is

By Michael |

Extremely thick pastry-ish crust, baked in an oven with some pizza toppings. Closer to a bready quiche than anything else. Yeah okay, I guess that's "Chicago style pizza", and they do serve that here. Unbelievably for a pizzeria (supposed to be a fast food), you will wait at least 45 minutes just for your pizza to cook as warned by our waitress, and it turned out to take over 50 minutes. Not worth the price or the time in my opinion. We sat outside and the tables were unadorned and a little grimy, probably from being next to a busy street. Our waitress turned out to be slightly hopeless, she kept stopping to chat with a table of people she apparently knew, ended up tilting a tray-full of our drinks onto the floor she was so distracted by them. She then got my salad order wrong, and explained that "she always gets those mixed up!" whatever that means. I suspect the tourists keep this place in business, but there must be better places to get decent pizza in Chicago?

A new favorite

By MillieHelper |

As an unabashed deep dish fan, I've tried most of them, but after getting stuck on Lou Malnalti as my favorite, I finally got around to trying Pizzeria Uno/Due. We wound up at Due because there appeared to be a wait at Uno (and no acknowledgement from any staff). Due was cozy and friendly and we were given a table right away. We kept ourselves busy with the veggie platter while we waited for the deep dish. We also enjoyed the mostly-local beers. We got the Numero Uno, which was so flavourful. Compared to the other places, the cheese especially had a rich, distinct flavor. Nothing can touch Malnalti's salad, but I think I've found a new favorite deep dish!

Excellent Chicago style pizza

By Hanni |

This pizzeria was only two blocks from our hotel and we highly recommended it. It proved a great success. It's very tasty pizza with four cheeses with pesto. Rich at a good price and totally typical of Chicago

Not just for pizza!

By Susan S |

Enjoyed a wonderful meal of Pomodoro Penne and cheesecake for dessert! Pizzeria Due is not just for pizza!

Best Deep Dish in the City

By Rcirullo |

Best deep dish in Chicago! Pizza is excellent, I really like the cornbread style crust and sauce. The sauce is no nonsense, just straight up tomatoes and spices. My favorite Chicago pizza-coming from an Italian born and raised in Chicago!

Delicious "deep-dish" stop!

By Matt SouthFL |

Nice authentic Italian-American pizzeria in the heart of Downtown Chicago with delightful selections of Chicago style pizzas; we waited about 40 mins for it to be baked (we were so warned and had appetizers meanwhile) which means they do it with an oven the old-school original way. Tasty appetizers and friendly pub atmosphere, recommended!

Food is as good as Uno but atmosphere is better!

By Taron66 |

Along with Uno, the first location for this company, Due is awesome! The atmosphere in Due I found to be a lot more relaxed than at Uno but whether you stop here or at Uno the service and food is exception at both locations. A most food experience when Visiting Chicago.

A Little Disappointing

By dan m |

We were looking for a reasonably priced restaurant near our hotel that specialized in deep dish pizza. Our reseach told us that Pizzeria Due satisfied this criteria. Unfortunately, we were left dissatisfied. The restaurant was in a basement, was quite small, very dark and the tables were too close together. We did order a small deep dish pizza, and were unsatisfied with that as well. The pizza crust was over cooked, and the sauce was not very good. Even the price was higher than we expected.

Deep dish? Not really.

By jaduzink |

The “deep dish” pizza was very tasty. But was it really deep dish? The crust of the large pizza was a bit thicker than normal on the edges but in the middle it was quite thin. We felt cheated and probably were.

Nothing Special

By damonj2010 |

My wife and I went here on a friend’s recommendation. Pizzeria Uno was also recommended, but when we got there it was very crowded, so we tried Pizzeria Due. My two cents is that the pizza was not all that great. Of course this is just my opinion, others seem to enjoy it. We had the thin crust with everything on it ( can’t remember the name of it) When we’re in Chicago again, I’ll pass this by.

Poor sausage

By Dwayne W |

Sausage was a pre- made patty to fit the pan. Terrible taste, unlike the hand pressed meat from days gone by. Terrible taste!

WOW!!!

By Hagz70 |

Stopped here as my family was hungry and not sure where to eat. Very glad that I did!!! Pizza was great!! Place was very busy, but waiter did a nice job trying to juggle all his tables and stay on top of everything. Pizza and deserts were great. Better then expected. I would say this was the best pizza I had in Chicago !!!!!!

Bad experience

By Benamard |

We came in early to our reservation and our table was not ready yet so the hostess suggested we pre-order our deep dishes which we gladly did. After 15 min (on time for our reservation) our table was ready and we were told our pizzas will be ready in 25 minutes. Perfect we thought. Only they didn’t get out till 50 minutes later. Our appetizers included a salad which came with the wrong dressing (and minimal dressing at that) and garlic bread (not that garlicky, most dough and cheese on top). The pizza seems to be a case where they were the first and others have improved since all of us agreed on all our 3 pizzas that we had better during our stay in Chicago. But worst was the service. Our waitress was clueless and mostly not to be found. And when we were 80% done with our food we got the feeling of being pushed out - suddenly she started hovering around our table. Will not return.

Twice as nice

By jdsbiz98 |

Went here with colleagues for their first taste of Chicago deep dish. I’ve been to original UNOs and now I’ve been here. The deep dish cheese was perfect, almost like eating a steak. You won’t leave hungry, that’s for sure

Great thin crust pizza

By Matthew R L |

Great thin crust pizza. The food was flavorful, reasonably priced. Cool old school pizzeria location.

Good pizza, horrible hostess

By Tinajfarrell |

Visiting Chicago for the week, me and my husband were looking for great pizza downtown. We went to Pizza Due, we were greeted by a very rude hostess which immediately gave us a negative impression of the restaurant. There was a 30 minute wait, we decided to try the pizza anyway and put in our order and sat at the bar. Another couple came and they were treated rudely and unprofessional by the hostess also. We were finally seated at a tiny high top table that was almost the size of our 16 inch pizza. Asked to see manager, told her about her disrespectful hostess,we ate our pizza, it was good but we won't be back.

Due better than uno

By WhereUg0 |

Much better Pizza than Pizzeria uno! The charm is also in the surroundings. I have always liked Pizzeria do a better than Pizzeria Uno

Take-out option

By gdc701 |

Ordered twice within a few days. Took 45min+ at 11pm-1am for orders and they don't offer delivery. Food was good.

If they can and are in the. City. I don't know what to do

GREAT!

By Nat |

We visited DUE two times during our stay in Chicago. The first time it was on a weekend and it was not a very pleasant experience at first because it was really crowded and there are no areas to wait comfortably. Also, at that point we didn’t know they took reservations, so we ended up waiting 40 minutes in the cold. It is also important to mention that despite it being so busy, all the staff was extremely kind, except for the girl at the front desk, who gave blunt answers and refused to speak Spanish despite understanding it. But the waiters and the other person at the entrance (who I assume was the manager) were polite and efficient. The second time, we learnt our lesson and made a reservation, but this time it ended up being useless, as the restaurant was much more empty on a weekday (and earlier). On both occasions, we had the Four Cheese Chicago style pizza and it was amazing! I loved that it didn’t have any tomato sauce, because then it didn’t feel so overwhelming and had a softer flavor. We also had refill soft drinks, which are great to go along with such a big dish haha. The medium size is enough for four people. Actually, we had asked for the big one on our first visit, and we ended up having two slices to-go. (By the way, they taste great after a reheat. The restrooms are not very clean, but the rest of the restaurant is fine; it feels comfortable and casual, almost pub-like. We loved this place and would definitely recommend visiting (but taking into consideration the tips mentioned above).

Good value but very much a tourist restaurant

By James T |

We stumbled across this during our first evening in Chicago looking for somewhere to eat that was suitable for the family and trying to avoid downtown city centre tourist traps. I think this falls between nostalgic and touristy, although from what we read afterwards the original place is down the road called Pizzaria Uno. We were told there would be a 45 minute wait for a Chicago Deep fill pizza and 25 minute wait for thin crust. As the kids were tired from a day travelling and a delayed flight and having seen someone else's deep fill we decided not to go for that. Instead choosing the meatballs sub for me, my wife had a Chicken caesar and the kids had spaghettgi which on the kids menu only came with the tomato sauce so we had to ask for meatballs separately. The food was served quickly by an attentive server and the meatballs were a hit with the three of us that had them, if you do come to this restaurant choose these over the deep fill as I don't think you'll be disappointed but I expect you could be with the deep fill.

Decent pizza

By Likesholidays11 |

We wanted to have a good Chicago deep dish pizza during our short break to Chicago and came here after reading reviews on trip advisor. The restaurant was packed with people waiting for a table. There was a 40 minute wait for pizza after ordering. The menu is pretty basic - you come here if you specifically want pizza. Having said all of that the pizza was excellent - really tasty and well worth the wait. One word of warning - the pizza is very filling so the individual size is definitely large enough for one person!

Group of 15 on the outdoor patio, perfect!

By Pamela M |

We were entertaining a group of 15 and Pizzeria Due reserved the outdoor patio for us. I wanted my guests to have a true downtown Chicago experience and the street view (raised and covered) was ideal. PD did not disappoint! The service was attentive and they allowed me to have a cake delivered. While waiting for our pizzas, we ordered appetizers and they were delivered quickly. A great time was had by all!

Anniversary supper

By Ruth H |

Had a fab week overall in Chicago... final night we celebrated our anniversary by visiting my husbands favourite ever pizza place - it’s now mine. We booked ahead and arrived a few minutes early but got seated ok.. lovely crowd, great atmosphere. We’re Brits we went thin crust and made our own and it was the best we could have hoped for. Great evening, happy memories and can’t wait to visit again.

Nothing special

By Eileen G |

I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are close by and desperate. We ordered a small deep dish pizza, the soup, and the meatballs. The soup was OK, but nothing special, the meatballs were average, and I thought that the pizza was terrible. The crust was dry and overcooked and seemed to be mainly a mound of cheese although we had ordered 2 toppings for the pizza. The sauce on the meatballs was good though, and it made the meatballs edible. It must mainly be tourists or other Magnificent Mile shoppers who eat here because the restaurant was packed (it was an early Saturday evening) and people were waiting outside to get in. I have eaten at other deep dish restaurants in Chicago, but this one was by far the worst. On the other hand, our waiter was good and we had no service problems. But the kitchen needs a little work....

See all 50 Chicago Illinois

By Daddy And Caleb |

The best pizza so far ! The crust is out of this world and the sauce and cheese too! We stayed close by and walked , and would seriously eat here every day ! Don’t miss out , they were recommended by customers and friends from the area who now live in NWA the Guidos and also by the owners and staff of the Lang house ! Thank you for such an amazing meal !

Amazing Pizza - Quick Service

By V5015ZIchristinef |

We were on a short wait list to be seated, and ended up getting a table in half the time they stated. We loved the deep dish pizza and retro atmosphere.

Do this!

By Lillian S |

Worth the trip. Deep dish pizza, good service, and a friendly atmosphere. We enjoyed the food and our waitress did not rush us to leave.

Best Pizza in the World

By Charley W |

Due's is the reason to come to Chicago. It is, without question, the best pizza in the world. If you're in Chicago and you haven't been to Due's...you haven't been to Chicago.

Great pizza

By Traveler from Midwest |

Cozy, hole-in-the wall eatery. Great pizza. Service very slow for a weekday night; took 15 minutes to bring water. Popular place. Tiny bathroom.

Pizzeria Due Chicago

By Raymond S |

A group dinner. Loved the pizzeria feel what expected visiting Chicago. The deep dish pizzas were very good especially the house special. Service was a little slow.

A Chicago Legend!

By Linda M |

Our friends, Charmaine and Tony, wanted us to experience authentic and original Chicago deep dish pizza, so brought us to Pizzeria Due, a true Chicago legend. Built in the early 1940's, this restaurant combines some of Italy's old, authentic recipes with impressive quantities of the finest meats, tomato sauce, vegetables and cheese to create a truly signature deep dish. The key, however, is that crisp, buttery crust - unlike anything I've ever tasted - delicious! We ordered a Special Salad Bowl to start (fresh Romaine lettuce, salami, Swiss cheese, giardiniera, tomatoes and onion and dressed with house wine vinegar), then a medium sausage pizza and a small cheese pizza to share between the four of us. Add a glass of Chianti and you have absolute perfection! It takes a while to bake this deep dish, so order ahead if you don't want to wait too long once you get there. Pizzeria Due is Chicago's original Deep Dish - an absolute experience! Taste the legend while in Chicago!

Great Chicago Pizza

By Americantravel17 |

Had the sausage pizza. Had a whole sausage patty. Very different than midwest pizza and very filling. Good deep dish. Service at the bar for food was much faster to get seated.

Opps - I eat to much!!

By Bruce P |

If you love pizza, deep dish pizza (& a slight crazy waiter) then this is the joint for you. I had the deep dish numero uno pizza and boy was it good, unfortunately I also eat half of the wifes "the works" pizza as well. Highly recommend this place for carbo loading.

Not good and wouldn’t return

By PawCane |

We opted for the outside seating to see the sights. We were the first to be seated up here. Jeffery waited on us and took 15 minutes to bring drinks while another party came in and received water and drinks before we were checked on again. All 4 of us were drinking beer and 1 having a simple vodka cocktail. Wings were ordered as an appetizer as we were told about an hour wait on the pizza. Cool, good to know. We split wings (16) between Buffalo and bbq. They were good size but oven baked with the ol fat chicken skin. BBQ looked as if they squeezed some bbq sauce on them after they were baked. Disappointed but eatable. Drink service took for ever. Ran out of Mich ultra after 2 beers. Jeffery sliced and placed the thick crust pie, cheese wasn’t melted and was rather skimpy. Zero, O cheese pull. Sauce had 0 flavor. Highly disappointed with the doughie crust and overall deep dish. Thin crust pepperoni style was better and had a little crisp to the crust. Local friends allowed it was not a pizza joint they would ever return to and were disappointed this was our experience of Chicago style pizza. Wouldn’t return and left over 3 quarters of both on the table. It wasn’t fit for leftovers. Also, guy came around taking pictures then wanted to sell them to us for $20 bucks. Dumb idea for a pizza joint.

Great deep dish

By Nellzzz |

Our first time in Chicago so we needed to try the infamous deep dish pizza. It was great and totally different to the normal pizza we are used too. I would visit again.

The Original Chicago Deep Dish Pizza!

By MartinAngloKiwi |

Great lunch time spot for an incredible pizza, the best I have had in a long time. If you order deep dish pizzas you will need to wait approx 40 mins but well worth it. Great to sit outside if the weather is fine so that you can watch the world go by.

It was ok

By Luis Fig |

We came to Chicago with A LOT of expectations, to find the best deep dish! This one was ok. We liked the service and the drinks

The worst service I have ever experienced. I have never given a bad review

By bullarst |

I have never given a bad review. We were seen as an inconvenience as soon as we turned up. We booked for 5.30pm and were told they couldn’t do this. So we agreed to buy a drink and wait at the bar. Only for another family to be seated before us and then told we had agreed to eat at the bar which we had not - only to wait for a table. The lady then said again that we had agreed to eat at the bar and was very rude and dismissive. I honestly have never experienced anything like this. So we left sadly as on our food tour we had tried their pizza and it was very good and we wanted to share that with the rest of our family. The worst service I have ever experienced.

Delivered once again

By SWCSW14 |

I always visit Pizzeria Due on an annual business trip to Chicago. I travel alone and the familiar, friendly and welcoming staff at Due’s keep me coming back for more - that and the delicious pizzas of course. This time I was unwell the day before I flew in and just ordered an Appetizer and a bottled water. Even with this tiny order they treated me well as always.

Dinner for Five

By anands |

The service was excellent however everyone found the food, deep dish cheese pizza and meatballs, average. The sauce on the pizza was rather sweet. Note well deep dish pizza takes about 40 minutes to be prepared.

Fabulous

By Northerner687 |

After being let down by Giordano’s running out of gluten free crust I searched trip advisor and tried Pizzeria Due. What a blessing as we ended up having the best gluten free pizza I’ve ever tasted. I would recommend anytime.

Classic deep dish

By Ankan44 |

Feels like a very classic little Italian corner restaurant. We had the deep dish pizza which is quite an experience. More like pie but very good.

The classic, the original, the best.

By M H |

The pizza is just delicious. Old school Chicago deep dish with the ambience to match! Friendly and attentive staff.

Meh...

By serendipitiously |

Someone suggested this place to us. We ordered thin crust. It was ok, I think too much cheese and not especially tasty. After two squares I had had enough, my husband had about 3. We took it back to our hotel but ultimately could not eat it. It cost us $29 to park downtown for just an hour and about $33 for the pizza with tip. It was the most expensive pizza we ever ate or couldn’t eat!!!

Uno o Due

By CharlyWar |

Deep Dish pizza was excelent. Staff was very polite and nice. We choose It because the ambient was more adecuate than the Uno (that look more like a bar)

Delicious Chicago-style pizza and excellent service!

By Vadim B |

On Jun 30, 2022 our family spent a day in Chicago. This was our first time in the "Windy City". From our tour guide and friends we heard quite skeptical opinions on Chicago deep-dish pizza, but nevertheless we decided to risk and try for more complete Chicago experience. We picked Pizzeria Due based on reviews and we were neatby anyway. Surprisingly we got sitted quickly though the place was packed. Our waiter Aaron was very attentive and helped us to decide on the order as what we initially planned was 3-4x what we could eat :) Our pizza came fresh and hot in 45 min after order (exactly as promised), and was absolultely delicious! It certainly exceeded all expectations and was well worth the wait! Appetizers: Buffalo wings - good fresh and juicy. Mains: 1 large deep-dish pizza - half veggie / half pesto 4 cheeses - both sides were delicious! 1 personal BBQ chicken deep-dish pizza - great, fresh, and tasty! 1 personal plain cheese deep-dish pizza - can't assess as we took it for our 7y old used to New York pizza and as expected she didn't like it :) We highly recommend this restaurant! Thank you Aaron for great polite and ettentive serivce and advice on the order! P.s. Turned out this restaurant is a second location of Chicago famous Pizzeria Uno which is probably equally good. Our private tour guide later confirmed this place was one of the best Chicago pizza places ad they make everything fresh instead of heating frozen stuff like in many other places Don't order too much so you can finish everything in the restaurant. Next day this pizza is certainly not the same :)

Solid Deep Dish!

By StefJax |

Deep dish pizza in Chicago is a hotly debated issue but you can’t go wrong with this classic spot! Give it a try and you won’t be sorry!

Don't get thin crust

By Steve M |

Keep seeing bad reviews of the thin crust. I feel like this is someone going to the ocean and giving two stars to an Avengers movie because they wanted a rom-com. Put simply, don't get thin crust here. There are thin crust Chicago styles but they are at completely different places. Pizzeria Due, and many others, specialize in deep dish and sure they have menus with variety but, with the wait times and everything else, if you're a tourist, why come here for anything but deep dish? Please, to everyone, because there are so many bad reviews about the thin crust - DON'T DO IT. And if you are looking for "Chicago Style" then try to have that style be a New York or New Haven or even California style, you're just going to be disappointed. Now, again, there are other places in Chicago to go for these types of things, just not here. Anyway, I do love deep dish pizza but had never had it actually in Chicago before. So it was a treat to finally do it. I got to avoid a long line by being a solo traveler and scoring a lone seat at the bar.

Good Food - Confused by receipt

By Pork C |

We visited "Due" last month in March. The quarters were a bit cramped for a group of seven but we made it through. We ordered a deep dish pizza with onions, pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. We were a bit shocked when the waitress said 45 minutes. It was actually shorter than that but we had plenty to talk about since others (in our group) food came quickly. The spaghetti got a thumbs up, the crab appetizer ordered was creamy and was in the running as some of the yummy crab offerings in Maryland. When I got home from visiting Chicago I noticed the receipt said UNO and I was a bit miffed since I was looking for an authentic Chicago experience. However, their history DUE and UNO are intertwined. Just look it up on the internet, but eat the pizza first. Worthy of a return visit or two.

Deep dish pizza at its best!

By Sandy G |

Deep dish pizza at its best! A landmark in Chicago that did not disappoint. The deep dish pizza and salad was a great dinner for two people to share and the atmosphere was electric. Our waitress was pleasant, attentive and very helpful.

Good Chicago style pizza here!

By MJbChateauL |

This is the second place where they started serving Chicago style pizza in the early 1950’s. Friendly service (from Ireland) in our case. Good food and desserts! It takes some time when You have the real stuff but it surely is worthwhile waiting for! We had 2 mediums for 4 adults and that was good! Recommended.

Authentic deep dish pizza

There were four of us there and we didn't quite manage to finish a large deep dish pizza. Opinions about this pizza were divided, but that's subjective. The pizzeria itself is really authentic, the service was nice and we had a really good time there - and I really enjoyed the pizza.

Great Chicago Deep Dish Pizza

By Edward D |

Established in 1955, the pizzeria and bar is a great establishment across from Trader Joe’s and was so good. Deep dish is a 45 minute cook time and they also have a thin crust in about 5-10 minutes. We really liked the atmosphere, service was really good and the food was fantastic. We ordered the house salad, vegetable tray and the vegetarian deep dish. The house dressing was a vinaigrette that was just enough and not too much for the salad. The tray had hummus, ranch dip and broccoli, cauliflower, celery, carrots, zucchini, squash, cucumber and green bell pepper. There are several deep dish pizza options. We found this one to be excellent. Soft drinks are Pepsi products. Uno and Due are the same ownership is my understanding and a block apart.

The best pizza!

By Woodland42 |

We had to queue for a while but I knew this meant it was a good restaurant. I’d never experienced deep dish pizza before and just, wow. It tasted so good and was well worth the wait.

Best deep dish pizza I've ever had, but demerits for poor service

By JMinNC |

I'm not a great pizza fan, but our small deep-dish pizzas had amazing fresh and robust flavor, with a beautiful, moist, fluffy, yeasty, buttery-tasting crust. Friends ordered a thin-crust pizza which was also excellent. Neither pizzas were over-salted or greasy, which is all too common with pizza. On the other hand, it was a little annoying that our server didn't tell us until after we ordered that the pizzas would take 45 minutes, and even the salad we ordered to eat first took 25 minutes (on a weeknight at 8:30 pm). The server also didn't come by to see if we needed anything during the meal. The reviews for this restaurant are interesting in that some love the service and not the food, some the food and not the service, some both, and some neither. Obviously people differ in their perceptions and tastes, but this makes me wonder whether there is just a lot of variability in food and service here. Regardless, I'd come back for the pizza, as long as I wasn't in a hurry.

A real good address to recommend!

By Franck A |

A great time spent at Pizzeria Due, besides it was so good and the waiters so nice that we went twice! The pizzas are very good, very hearty (we took a medium for 3 while we are good eaters) and the rating is very reasonable. Some say we eat the best pizzas in Chicago... I'm happy to be convinced!

Deep dish pizza

By Mads A |

This place serves up the classic Chicago style deep dish pizza. It is a nice place with good pizza and a decent beer selection. Expect a bit of a wait if you order deep dish.

Very filling

By Mike V |

I have had a few deep dish pizzas but none compares to the one I had here. It was both delicious and filling. The staff was friendly and quick to get our order. The place was quite small but full of charm. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

So Delicious!

By HintonTN |

This place is just a treasure in the city. Cute and quaint and the best deep dish pizza! There were four of us for dinner -- one large pizza was plenty big for all of us -- and so delicious. Truly a fabulous crust, the tomatoes/sauce, cheese and other toppings -- it just cannot be beat. Coupled this with wine -- and we were happy as can be! Delicious! Should not be missed on your visit to Chicago!

Nothing Special

By Tim T |

I really wanted this to be a great experience. It was a letdown. The pizza was above average but the atmosphere from walking through the door to the service to leaving was slow and poor. I'm not from Chicago so when I walk into new place I always look for a friendly smile or a hey we're glad you're here ! attitude..... My wife and I were seated in the lower level with half of my butt hanging out into floor traffic. The table shouldn't have even been there. Took a really long time to get waitress to come to the the table and take our drink order...many workers standing around but apparently no enthusiasm to wait on us. No water was offered and the again wait for the semi cold draft beer was long.....one of those moments when you realize that you should order 2 drinks at a time. Make sure your cell phone flashlight is available so that you can read the menu or the super small beer list menu. I had a sip of my drink and the waitress said ... are you ready?? I said that I had never been there before... she said, oh, well this is pretty good.......not exactly putting effort or confidence into her answer.....there was more downside but I've covered enough....This was the most disappointing dining experience in Chicago.

Bad night out

The best pizzas in this town!!!!

By Aram A |

Whenever we crave pizza, we always head to this pizzeria in Chicago. The pizza here is simply the best we’ve ever had. The crust is perfectly crispy, the sauce is rich and flavorful, and the toppings are always fresh and generously applied. We’ve tried several different pizzas, and each one has been amazing. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff is always friendly and attentive, ensuring that we have a great dining experience every time we visit. If you’re in Chicago and looking for delicious pizza, pizzeria Due is a must-visit. We highly recommend it!

Missing toppings, rock hard crust

By Climber09294796794 |

Service was prompt and we were informed that if we wanted deep dish (which we did) it requires 40 minutes to prepare. We ordered three individual deep dish pizzas: an uno, a pepperoni, and a pesto. The came within the promised time but disappointment soon followed as the crust of the Uno was rock hard and the only discernible topping was sausage. Missing was the pepperoni, onion, and green pepper. The crust on the pepperoni pizza was better but it, too, was missing pepperoni. Thankfully the manager removed those two pizzas from the bill and offered to remake them. We didn’t have that kind of time, so he offered to make a thin crust pepperoni and we accepted. When the bill came, we were charged for the thin crust pizza! Very disappointing.

Back for the Umpteenth Time and it is Still Great

By Ken R |

We had a giant salad and a Due Special Pizza; they were terrific. The Waitress was very helpful and the cocktails were excellent. Glad to see it is still a favorite.

Good Pizza that has changed over the years

By 108Lexi |

Went to Uno's again after so many years. We ordered the spinoccoli, spinach, and vegetarian pizzas. The vegetarian was the best. Great service, our waiter and the manager were awesome. The spinoccoli seemed to have frozen cauliflower instead of or along with broccoli - it was an unexpected taste. The spinoccoli has definitely changed over the years. The serving size was decent and we were glad to have a good meal when in downtown.

The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From The Tree

By David S |

The sister restaurant of Pizzeria Uno opened in 1955 to satisfy the demand for wonderfully crafted pizza. They boast two lovely patios: one outside the restaurant and the second on the second floor. The atmosphere fills the restaurant and flows outside to the street. The staff is fast, friendly and efficient which compliments the relaxing but lively feel of the rooms. If you want the original this is where you want to be.

Lovely!!

By Kelly B |

We popped in here for a late dinner and the food was incredible. My husband has a big appetite but we know the portion sizes in the states are massive so he ordered a small deep dish pizza - he could only eat half! The portions are big and the food is really tasty. Between 4 us we ordered a 10” (smallest) thin crust pizza. The small deep dish pizza, a small portion of chicken wings and a portion of garlic bread with cheese - we took 3 boxes of food home!! We now have to return to try some of the other bits in the menu that look amazing!

Fabulous little place witha great bar vibe

By deccrv |

Went in by chance for an evening meal and went for the meatballs which were wonderful. Really enjoyed the first vist so went back a couple of more times for the vibe and bar chat. Barre the host is a genuine, warm and welcoming character, in touch with the modern world and was great for conversation and fun. Same goes for all the staff I spoke to. The place shows it's age but that's all part of the authenticity and I'd definitely go back if I visit Chicago again

Nice, but not special

By Alan C |

This is one of the restaurants claiming the original Chicago pizza. The pizzas are good, but not fantastic. We had a classic and a vegetarian 4 cheese and pesto. Unfortunately the vegetarian was more like a quiche than pizza. The classic was good, although a bit of a soggy bottom and the sausage very heavy on the fennel. It is a busy place and service was brisk and our server helpful. Altogether a decent pizza experience but a little disappointing as expected more from this place given their claims to pizza fame.

Good food, long waits

By Ian S |

We came here because pizza Uno was shut. It was really busy but we were seated quickly. Our server was friendly but clearly had a lot to do. We had the veg and hummus to start, you get loss of veg and that’s ok as long as you like raw cauliflower and broccoli! The deep dish pizza was really nice, we waited over an hour for it but was very good. My friend had a gluten free pizza and she said it was the best gluten free base she’s had.

Good if you like deep dish

By Airsucker |

Deep dish pizza is a Chicago phenomenon but not one I'm partial too. The supreme was good but the dough is too much for an enjoyable pizza.

Great Deep Dish Pizza place

By GCHTraveller |

We had at this place with a smaller group for an afternoon eat. The place has quite limited space, but a very nice atmosphere. We were lucky since we immediately got a table - when we left there was quite a queue (recommendation to be there outside of regular lunch/dinner hours). They have a good choice of deep dish pizzas, and they were really tasty. And they also had a good choice of craft beers. Staff is nice and helpful. Calculate in that the deep dish pizza takes around 45min for preparation. Nice place, good food, nice atmosphere, nice staff - great place in Chicago.

Thin crust was terrible

By O skyes |

Ordered the thin crust cheese. It was burned to a crisp and tasted similar, but worse than a Totino’s frozen pizza. Couldn’t eat more than one piece. I appreciate that the manager took it off the bill but probably not going back.

Crushed Tomatoes and My Hopes

By Dee N |

My partner wanted me to have REAL Chicago pizza. He lived here. Well he were both displeased. Take crust cover it with mozzarella cheese, add slabs of Sausage and POUR on a whole can of crushed tomatoes. Awful... Coming from New Haven CT we know pizza. This was a terrible 1st impression. Sorry.... going to try Gino East tonight he wants me to get Chicago Drep Dish..... waiter was awesome.....

Awful!

By Sue |

We had gotten takeout. The salad was not what we ordered, we asked for paper products and plastic ware, we received 2 paper plates and packages of cheese. How do you eat salad without utensils? The hostess was AWFUL! She told another patron they only had beer when there was a full bar! One of the servers said a table was waiting for a waitress as he was eating pizza and coughing without covering his mouth right on the floor! The food was sub par at best and the service was the worst I’ve ever witnessed in a restaurant. Go elsewhere!!!

Affordable pub/restaurant just off the Magnificent Mile

By Timothy C |

Chose this restaurant my first night in Chicago because it was close to my hotel. Tried the deep dish pizza (which was very good) only to find out later that the sister restaurant just down the street lays claim to inventing it. More importantly, staff and other customers were quite friendly to tourists and locals alike.

If you love deep dish, this is the place

By Mark D |

My wife is from Chicago. She turned me on to Due's Pizza. Now that we live here, it is our go to place for deep dish. We get it here at least once a quarter. We would eat there more if we weren't afraid of getting fat. We usually take it to go. All the wait staff has always been helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

I'm sorry but worst service ever

By barry d |

Shocking service Every table around us had the same terrible service. The service was funny at the start but nobody was joking after over an hour waiting on anything to turn up

OUTSTANDING DEEP PAN EXPERIENCE!

By Michael P |

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST DEEP PAN PIZZA! We had this pizza as part of the Chicago MOB tour. The crust was awesome, and it was LOADED with cheese! I hope they will ship to Louisiana, cause I will be ordering them. You wont go wrong with Due! THE BEST! MP

Had to try it while it Chicago

By homefrontgirl |

We had to say we'd try Chicago-style pizza while we were in city. Glad I had the experience and the pizza (actually toppings in a pan-shaped crust) was flavorful.

Good Place with Kids

By 1moreround |

My 14-yo granddaughter and I were "tourists in Chicago" for a week-end. She opted for the Mag Mile area, so I chose restaurants that are typical Chicago. I've lived in the suburbs most of my life and don't get into the city that often anymore, but I've known Uno & Due since they opened, and what teenager doesn't like pizza? Granddaughter had pasta and said it was really good. I had an indiv. thin-crust pizza, which was also good (plenty of toppings). I'm an easy-cheese person, & they got it right. Side salads were fine, and we had a decadent choc. dessert, which alone would be worth a trip. We went early, which I strongly recommend because by the time we left (around 6:30), there were people lined up outside, and the wait was an hour. We had no trouble getting seated. Service was slow, but we were talking so didn't mind. Our waiter was great, & we were seated at the wall banquette, so no jostling (tables aren't crammed together along banq.). We'd go back anytime.

Not the best in the city, but good

By divya92 |

Service was good, we couldn't get a reservation at Pizzeria Unos and they send us here instead. The one real complaint I have is the restroom is tiny, stalls are tinier and claustrophobic. We had a big family style group dinner which was nice. Garlic bread was good and pizza was also pretty good- both the deep dish and the thin crust were both good!

Chicago Pizza (The Best)

By Timothy L |

Sister restaurant of Pizzeria Uno and the same pizza just location # 2. I used to go to this place after baseball games and it is still a great spot for genuine Chicago Deep Dish. Located in the tourist area but a Chicago institution and I had the deep dish to go. Great pizza has not changed however Chicago sure has.

Lunch introduction for colleagues

By Keith G. |

In town for a conference with colleagues who never had Chicago style pizza. Many options as expected but decided to try one of the originals. Able to walk in and was seated quickly. First impression was historical and real nice. However we had to move our seats as the booths were more than small. Service was quick, but expect to wait when you order pizza. We had some drinks during the wait and then pizza arrived, and presentation was great. We ordered the BBQ and also the original sausage. First bits were great and the opinions continued as we all ate. Pizza was great all around and would return next time in town.

Just Okay

By j916802 |

Pizza crust was hard, toppings were sparse, cheese was hard to find - mostly just tomatoes on bread. Soup had a delicious broth, whish was good since there were no vegetables in my cup! Not the Due's of old!

Not how I remember it

By Patrick A |

The deep dish was fine but nothing that great. Our table was in a rotten spot with wait staff continually running past. The first Pepsi brought to the table was diet not regular, but it was finally fixed when our waiter got around to our table again. The meatball appetizer could be much better if there were more than 4 little pieces of bread provided. It was not all that great of a visit.

Fantastic Wings

By snaggledraws54 |

I must say the place didn’t instil me with a great deal of confidence by looking at it,as to what the quality of the food would be!! Amazingly the food was great. We sat outside and watched the world go by and were impressed with the food, the service and the position. Just off the Magnificent Mile. Worth a visit👍👍

If you've been to Uno, it only makes sense to go to Due

By Taylor B |

After opening Pizzeria Uno at Ohio and Wabash in Chicago in 1943, founder Ike Sewell realized his deep dish pizza concept was so popular that he decided to open Pizzeria Due a block away at Ontario and Wabash in 1955. Over the years, my wife and I have enjoyed dining at both. And we don't go for the deep dish pizza. We favor thin crust cheese and sausage. When we go to Due, which opens at 11 a.m. daily and is housed in the lower level of a beautiful Victorian mansion in the River North neighborhood, we usually order other Italian delights. For example, at our most recent visit for lunch, we started with garlic bread with cheese, Florence Sewell's signature minestrone soup with cheese and Caesar salad with romaine lettuce, grated cheese and croutons tossed in a home-made dressing. For an entree, I chose spaghetti and meatballs. At other times, I opt for an Italian beef sandwich. My wife always prefers an Italian beef and sausage sandwich with home-made sauce. We always agree on dessert, however. Spumoni, pistachio, cherry and chocolate ice creams with nuts and candied fruit. There are reasons why Uno and Due have been satisfying customers since FDR and Ike were in the White House.

Worth a Try

By Cynthia S |

Good local pizza. Compared to Giordano’s the vegetables in this deep dish were more cooked & cheese tasted more authentic, however, Dues small deep dish was smaller. Served 2 ppl with 4 slices no leftovers but was very filling. Worth a try to compare to other deep dish pizzerias. In the picture is homemade meatballs & small, Unos deep dish

Chicago Deep Dish

By FUNDEB1 |

After years of trying to find that good Deep Dish pizza, this place takes the prize. Tender crust and overall good tasting pizza. Ambiance was okay...a little loud to hear conversation, but small price to pay for such delicious food !

Pizzeria Due

By dougbopst |

Just ate at Pizzeria Due yesterday. This is the absolute best of the Chicago Deep Dish pie. This is no knock against Giordanos or Genos but the Due was amazing! I can’t believe what I have been missing all these years. Very nice salad and craft beer menu. Excellent waiter service and ambience. Arrived at 4:00 pm which is a perfect time to get a seat with no wait. A+++ pie!

Great deep dish pizza!

By Thomas B |

My wife and I like all kinds of pizza, but the deep dish pizza at Pizzeria Due is unmatched! It takes 30-40 mins. for them to cook it after you order, but the pizza is well worth the wait!

cute and good but very slow

By Nancy M |

This is a very cute, historic place. It took a very long time to get our 1st drinks, our food, and our 2nd drinks, but luckily we were not in a hurry. The waitress was friendly, and I don't know what part of the delay was due to her or the other staff. We shared the spinach pizza, based on her size recommendation - which was spot on. We loved it.

Hmm....things not quite so good

By EmilyKate |

We always visit this restaurant when in Chicago but this time things were not so good. Our pizza had a crust that teetered on the edge of being burnt and consequently the filling seemed a little dry. Having waited (as expected and forewarned) for a good 45 minutes or so for our food, we felt disinclined to send the food back and wait for another to be cooked. It is also disappointing that the restaurant would think it in order to serve food obviously overcooked. Maybe we were just unlucky but, based on this experience, I think we may try elsewhere next time. Sorry ‘Due’!

Do the Due for deep dish

By Kevin K |

We had a group of first timer Chicago visitors who wanted to dive into the deep dish. Pizzeria Due filled the bill. The crust is not the typical pizza dough - it was a little more chewy like corn meal. I liked it. Fills your appetite fast.

Pizza our heart!

By Kelley N |

Delicious food. Great staff. And probably the lowest priced meal we ate in Chicago- we all left at the restaurant stuffed, too!

Good food and value

By tvdirector |

Needed a quick takeout meal after an all day event. This place was right up the street. Glad we tried it! A couple of Italian beef sandwiches- large enough with a good salad. Priced well for Chicago. Attentive staff. Food took longer than promised but all in all a good choice.

Straightforward. Perfect for a Quick Meal

By Bernard B |

Staff were attentive. Plenty of choices on the menu. Food prepared fresh and arrived quickly. Inexpensive considering the location

Time Capsule of Happiness

By Scarsm0m |

I recently took my daughter to Due after not having eaten her since childhood in the late 1970's. NOTHING has changed, thankfully. The best pizza, best atmosphere, same very quirky bathrooms. Nothing compares to this place or its charm. This is a landmark and not to be missed. I would recommend elastic pants so you can sample all of the delicious options you will have here. A MUST!

Deep Dish pizza super!!

By emanuela z |

We tried Chicago pizza by chance, the famous Deep Dish pizza and it's really excellent here! Don't expect Italian pizza but it's a specialty not to be missed! The veggie is amazing! It's very filling... With a large one you can eat in 4. In my humble opinion, here it is much better than the pizzeria that boasts its invention. It takes a little patience because it has to stay in the oven for about 40/45 minutes so be patient and know that you won't regret it.

Great deep dish

By VancityGal |

Great deep dish pizza which is why we came to this place. Their salads are really good as well. Service was fantastic. Our server warned us about the 45 min wait for deep dish which was fine because he told us when we ordered. He managed our expectations. Food was delicious. We would definitely come back here again.

AMAZING!!!!

By Anna B |

First time to Chicago and had to experience the Chicago Pizza, and this place was awesome!!! Staff, restaurant, and pizza were fantastic!!!! If you go to Chicago this is a must!

Great deep dish

By barryclarke75 |

Our first taste of Chicago deep dish. We had to wait 10 mins for table but service was quick and friendly when we got our table. We opted for a medium bbq chicken to share. Had no idea just how deep these things actually are. There was a whole chicken worth of meat on the pizza and 2 slices each was enough to have us having to waddle home with a doggie bag in defeat! Recommended for anyone wanting to try genuine Chicago deep dish when in town. Just don’t order too big....

Classic Chicago Pie

By United99 |

We arrived on a Tuesday evening at 19:00. We were seated quickly and given time to peruse the menu. We ordered our food and drinks at the same time. The drinks menu has a good selection of craft beers which are rotated regularly. Our server told us the pizza takes around 35 minutes from ordering. She recommended sharing a small pizza, I’m glad we did! We split it 50/50, my wife chose BBQ chicken and I went for pepperoni. The pizza was simply amazing. Lots of meat and cheese, a beautiful tomato sauce and an amazing thick and light crust. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit from start to finish. Our server was helpful and friendly and the restaurant had a good mix of locals and tourists eating, I’d say it had a typical Chicago relaxed feel to it.

Delicious Chicago Style Pizza

By NapiliR |

Perfect for lunch after a visit to the Driehaus Museum as its just a block away. The second restaurant of the Pizzeria Uno group, the atmosphere and pizza are the same high quality. Fountain beverages are Pepsi.

I get the appeal, but the ingredients aren't great

By Bill Scurry |

This is a gratifying meal which sticks to your ribs, but the quality of meats and cheeses leaves a little to be desire. You can taste the difference -- even a tourist mecca like Pizzeria Uno could afford to wow the crowds with superior pepperoni. The tap list is great, I just wish the pizza had been worth the caloric expense!

Classic Deep Dish pizza in Chicago in Historic old building

By CaptDrLarry |

I was in Chicago to complete a medical residency but had arrived late on a Thursday and was hungry. I walked over to Numero Uno pizzeria but they were full and they directed me down the street, one block over, to their sister restaurant Numero Due (pizzeria due). It had a nice large patio and spacious interior filled with lots of memories of old Chicago. Service was slow but friendly. I ordered the deep dish Uno Pizza (their signature dish) and was told it may take 40 minutes to bake and I was OK with the wait. I am sure glad that I did. This was a unique experience. Delicious, full of flavour and a really different pizza experience than I was expecting. Really happy I came here and will endeavour to repeat this experience again in a future visit to Chicago.

Deep dish pizza Chicago style

By Markus H |

Deep dish pizza Chicago style. Really great food. Definitely worth a visit. 2 large ones easily feed 7 people!

Delicious Food and Great Service

By giletravels |

We ate here for dinner. We arrived around 6:00 on a Friday night and didn't have to wait for a table. (When we left around 7:30 there was a 30 minute wait). We were sat at a booth and had a wonderful waiter who answered all our questions honestly and was very helpful. I wish I remembered his name. The booth was suuuper small and cramped but it had charm and appeal of an older place. We didn't do the famous deep dish pizza but did get the thin crust (which for us from MN USA is called traditional crust not thin crust) and it was delicious!

This is not Uno pizzeria

By Annarbor Wei |

The name they use online is misleading, I thought I have ordered from Uno pizzeria which was the restaurant I intended to order from but this one is down the corner. Taste is not great.

Crowded, hot, filling

By mrlan |

Fresh ingredients and tasty but be prepared for crowds at peak times (weekends, etc.). Two pieces from a large pie is enough. They do a vegan option (no cheese) which someone in our party said was good.

Authentic Deep-Pan Pizza

By Liam101 |

100% worth a visit. Be prepared to queue and wait another 40mins for pizza once you’ve ordered... but will worth it for the pizza! Yum!

Pretty good deep dish

By kevin s |

We liked the deep dish pizza here. The crust is a little strange. I think they use cornmeal in it, which helps keep it crispy, but it has a strange texture and is not what you would expect in a pizza crust. Overall, we thought it was very good. Small menu and they warn you that it takes 40 minutes to make a deep dish although it came to us in about 25 minutes.

Deep Dish Heaven

By jaywalker2309 |

We couldnt go to Chicago for the day and NOT have a proper deep dish pizza. Searching online found out about Pizzeria Uno, but couldnt get a table, but was able to book the sister restaurant, next door almost, without issue. We got there a bit early, but was able to get our table easily. We were going to ring in advance to order our pie, but as early thought would just wing it. It wasnt a problem to do this. Our server was so attentive, and i dont think our drinks were ever more than half drank before being refilled. We chose 3 deep dish small pizzas for the table, 4 adults and 1 excited child. This proved to be MORE than enough for us, and we had slices to go home with. The pizzas were just so thick with topping and flavour. The crust was almost like quiche which was not a bad thing. Would so recommend eating here if in the city

A long wait, for a good pizza

By Claus N |

The deep pan pizza should be a Chicago special. So we tried it in pizzeria Due. We were warned, that it will take 45 min. from order to you got your pizza. It took an hour. It was good (4 stars). The service was average. Now we have tried it. It is not a place, we will retur to.

Waste of a neat space

By procyclist |

I've been to the companion location a few years back. Remember it being unmemorable, as far as the pizza went. But it Due was close to where I was staying, and I wanted deep dish, so I thought - what the heck. Well, in retrospect, it would have well been worth a longer walk or even a Lyft to go to one of the competitors, as this was plumb pitiful. The little building (appears to be an old house) was neat and was decorated nicely. That's where the compliments end. Sat at the bar, as I was traveling alone. The small bar has a dishwasher on the patron side that the bartender had to repeatedly open, which released a wave of hot steam into my face, along with the smell. I ordered a deep dish, which, as it does everywhere, takes 45 minutes to make. After about that amount of time, a man appeared with a plastic plate and half a pizza. He said "here's your small. We'll bring the rest out if you finish this" (or something to that effect). No pan. The toppings had already slid completely off the crust. Speaking of the crust, the closest thing I can compare it to is month-old cornbread. Just awful. At least now I know.

Terrible. Would not return

By Lauraldawn |

Want to wait 45 minutes past your reservation time? Want to pay your bill on full only to be called a thief because their POS system doesn’t work? Then this is your place. I was so excited to come here post-marathon. I booked well ahead. Arrived on time. Had called in my pizza order (on hold 15 minutes) Ended up waiting for 45 minutes for our reservation. Dinner was fine. Then I used my credit card to pay. I got the transaction receipt. Went to leave. Assistant manager told me it didn’t go through. I disagreed since I had the approval. I also showed him my only credit card statement. Accused me of theft. I’ve never been so humiliated in a restaurant. He also yelled at the server who processed the bill. Wasn’t allowed to leave until I asked another member of my group for their credit to AGAIN pay for the meal I had paid for. Way to RUIN a marathon celebration dinner.

We're Just Not Fans

By Linda M |

This is probably Chicago style pizza but we didn't care for it. We prefer a soft dough crust and not a pie type hard crust.

The best Pizza ever tasted !

We came there and we loved it ! Thin crust pizza is amazing, give it a try! A medium size is perfect for 3 ;-)

My Home for Deep Dish for years

By PStosh |

This has been my go to for years. I think the ovens matter, and those that cook matter. Ingredients of course, but this has been a reliable venue for me. Is it better than Uno down the block? It might be. Lous the sauce can be sloppy, Ginos crust not as flavorful, Giardano is kind of a different thing. So, Due has been reliable, and I like the like the little basement bar.

Authentic Deep Dish Pizza

By iliketowrite |

Way too long of a wait at Uno's, so we took a short walk down the street to Due and got seated right away - same owners, same pizza, lots of choices. Authentic deep dish pizza, tasted wonderful, although it's a bit too heavy to be eating very often. Service was friendly and very efficient with the drinks. They serve the pizza right from the baking pan to your plate at the table. We had a nice cozy table in the bar area and it was a good meal. Couldn't ask for more. Easy to recommend Due for a pizza treat.

First Deep Dish Experience

By sailnola |

Thanks goodness for the long waits at other places, because the numero uno at pizzeria due was just that -- no. 1 in our book. The sausage and pepperoni were spicy and, while I had my doubts about deep dish crust, those doubts vanished with the first bite. The service was also extraordinarily friendly. Due will be a yearly ritual.

Great Deep Pizza

By Jorge L Gomez |

Went to this place for the first time in 2009. I have been visiting Uno Pizzeria in local area and knew history of pizzeria Due and Uno. We had the número uno classic deep dish and it was my husband second time trying it since he went 5 years ago to a different restaurant and was not a fan of deep dish until he try Due. His a lover of the deep dish. Service was prompt and super friendly. Will go back again

Due let us down with bad pizza and service.

My family loves Uno but we were a bit pressed for time and the normal hour wait at Uno led us to finally try Due, the wait was still 35 minutes but each restaurant let you order ahead of seating. We were seated at a table by the bar. I expected Due to be much larger than Uno but it is not by much. A group of 5 decided to squeeze in at the end of the bar right next to us which was not cool, imagine butts a foot from you when eating. Staff had to constantly ask them to make way going to the kitchen and when I brought the situation up to the staff, they acted like that's the way it is. It is cramped in the restaurant but nobody else had this issue. Got our pizzas and one was so sad looking, it was about 3/4 inch deep and it was a deep dish!! I got the waiter and asked if this was a deep dish? Right away he said that is not how a deep dish should be made and went for the manager, we talked to the manager 10 minutes later. It takes about 40 minutes to make a deep dish pie so no way we can ask for another pie. The manager immediately said that is not how the pie should be and said he would comp it. I wasn't looking for a free pie, I was hungry but also out of luck. Pizzeria Due needs to get their act together! Treat customers with some respect and give them a proper meal and environment. Like I said I know Uno and Due can be cramped but this was flat out wrong to allow a situation to exist. Making a pathetic pie is the worst a pizzeria can do and Due shamed themselves serving a terrible version of a Chicago deep dish, SHAME!!! Due made us realize that time can compromise quality. Spend the extra 20+ minutes and go to Uno, they know how to treat their customers. How did a sister restaurant go so wrong?

Could have had a better experience.

Cute little place that was recommended by some of our local friends. I'm giving 3 stars because this place was so hot on the inside, and they came out and turned on a few ceiling fans the ones that worked when other customers complained. The bathroom was very small and also hot inside. The service was really good, and we were told that deep dish takes 45 minutes. It was worth the wait, but sweating bullets while you're eating is not ideal. Some AC would have been nice.

Don't bother, pizza was not good, service was though.

We went for dinner. We hade a deep dish pizza and a meatball appetizer. I'll start with the good. Service was good. Meatballs were really good. BUT the sauce was NOT good, as if it hadn't been cooked. The pizza also had the sauce which was very disappointing. Needless to say pizza wasn't good and crust was overcooked. Too bad, I've previously had good food here.

Best pizza ever? You decide!

Took some of my new Canadian friends there as they were curious about Chicago style pizza. I tend to be a regular, sharing a small deep dish where's my wife. So we ordered the extra large sausage, pep, onions....as usual, Deelishis! Thick slices of a sausage lots of pepperoni and thick, gooey cheese with Rich savory sauce. The crust was buttery and Flaky and was a joy to eat on its own. My friends said, I never thought it would be this good. I think they said it all! If you haven't had one, stop cheating yourself go and enjoy.

This is Chicago Pizza

Sat outside for lunch on a nice summer day. Enjoyed my Special Salad Bowl, and my friends enjoyed their deep dish personal pizzas. We all loved the Garlic Bread with Cheese.

Just Like Pizzarus Uno

Very friendly waitress. Pizza looks and tastes like Uno. I recommend if you’re near by. Needs a lot more lightings inside.

Lunch at Historic Place

By Irina |

If not for an overwhelming number of people during a lunch hour, that caused some waiting to be seated and waiting to be served - so, if not for all that waiting, we would have enjoyed our lunch even more. Young servers were very courteous and amiable. The signature deep dish - Numero Uno Pizza - was excellent, cooked to perfection, all the ingredients were fresh, well-balanced, and pizza was not overpowered by sauce. Nice! The location of Pizzeria Due at 619 N Wabash is quite close to the N Michigan Ave, so this restaurant is always busy, from what I concluded after several visits to this restaurant over the years. This time, I was also very impressed with the long history of this place (Pizzeria Due opened in 1955). The information about its founder Ike Sewell and his successful restaurant business at Pizzeria Due is presented on the walls inside the restaurant in the form of paper articles and old photos, the plaque outside also tells us about the history of this building itself. This restaurant still keeps its history and authentic ambiance today.

Make sure you book

By DaveNKent |

As it was our first visit to Chicago we thought we had to try deep dish pizza and decided to try Uno or Due which claim to be the original. Uno was full but we were able to book a table at Due. Just as well we did. When we arrived there were people everywhere queueing. We walked past them to let the restaurant know we had arrived which illicited many comments from those who thought we were jumping the queue. The waitress gave us a menu and took us to our table about five minutes later, which was at about the time we had booked. As the pizzas are made to order there's about a 40 minute wait from ordering. We had a shrimp and crab deep to start, which was very tasty, and a medium "numero uno" their original pizza. Undoubtably the best pizza I have ever had and I've had loads in Italy and Southern France. We couldn't finish it and took the two remaining slices back to the hotel for lunch the next day. It was also good cold.

Average

We ate here one evening during our trip to Chicago. We ordered the Chicago-style garlic bread and a deep dish pizza. Both were just average.

New experience

The husband had never had Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. We made our way to a street side table and ordered. The server (fabulous gentleman) told us stories and helped pass the time while waiting for this Chicago delight. Fun experience.

An experience to miss

By Flying_Marcy |

We heard so much about the Deep Dish Pizza that we thought we needed to give it a try. You need to plan at least 45 minutes for the preparation of your pizza and at the end, we were quite disappointed. The pizza was mainly dough and we had to look hard to find the extra ingredients we ordered. If you think about using the time while you wait for the pizza for a drink or two, beware since we thought the drinks were pretty overpriced compared to other places we had been. The location itself is quite nice and very authentic.

Overpriced, terrible service, dirty

By laura m |

Overpriced, terrible service. Server served people that arrived after us. He eventually took our order then arrived with my pizza well before my husbands pizza was even ready. He put my pizza straight on the table, no pizza pan or plate, we just stared at him and said we werent eating that. He took it away, said he would get another one made and would come back to clean the table. We sat for 10 minutes waiting on it being cleaned, while he passed us to serve other people. Eventually a couple at the table next to us gave us a cloth they had as a similar thing had happened to them. Eventually got our pizzas at the same time. Altho mine had several toppings it all tasted the same - tasteless. The whole place felt dirty and the toilets are disgusting all full of flies. I would not recommend this place

Terrible place, don’t go there, they don’t know how to cook!!

By Julio Roberto Vega Sánchez |

Very bad food, the ceasar salad was like a paste, with too much cheese in it, the spaghetti also terrible, the noodleseere still hard, and the meatballs you could hardly eat it, I am still waiting g for my pizza after 45 minutes

BEWARE: Do not recommend for a Rehearsal Dinner

I am giving 2 Stars because they did provide our food and we were seated on time. The rest of the review does not warrant any stars. We signed a contract for our party months ahead of time and I confirmed with Howard, the Sales Manager all of the information a week and day of prior to the dinner. We were supposed to get unlimited pizza, salad, soda pop and dessert from 7pm-8:30pm. I was told they stick and adhere to the time strictly. I confirmed our number of adults, kids and time the day before. We were seated around 7pm, or slightly before, but we had a problem getting the pizza on time. I asked the wait staff at 7:35 when it was coming out and they told us "soon." The wait staff then proceeded to tell me that our contracted time was starting at 7:30 rather than 7. This was not true and my husband and I knew that was incorrect as I had the contract with me and and I confirmed 7pm that day with me via email with the Sales Manager, Howard. They had to bring slices for the kids since they were hungry and tired. Finally, after the pizza finally arrived and they served it, my husband asked for another slice of sausage and we were told it was gone/out. He then proceeded to remind one of the two servers that it was unlimited and she said "NO". The server also got my husbands drink order wrong 3 times and he kept telling her what he was ordering and then she finally said what she was telling the bartender and she was completely wrong. I had also confirmed with with Howard that we would receive thin crust as I needed it for the kids. We did not receive any thin crust either. The manager on duty, finally came over and wanted to know how things were going and my husband and I explained what was transpiring. She apologized and said she would knock 4 people off our bill and take it from 24-20. At that point, I spoke privately with her and explained I had confirmed with you that our group size which was was for 18 adults, 2 kids 10-13 and 2 kids under 3. She had no idea about that either. I had also shown her my email exchange with Howard to prove I was telling the truth. So, we never received those "4 people off our bill", but she did comp us some drink beverages since a lot of it was wrong and we should not have paid for it anyway. We paid a good amount for the food and we didn't receive what we expected. One of our servers was great, and if it wasn't for him, who knows how much more of a disaster it would have been. I don't think it was planned properly as more servers were needed. Our family knew that if they wanted drinks or anything extra, it was to be paid by them. However, the server put it all on one bill and my husband and I were stuck with everyone's alcohol beverages, cheese bread and anything else they ordered, because they were hungry waiting over a half an hour for our food to arrive. Overall it was a huge disappointment, the food was not great, the service was bad and the communication from the Sales Manager Howard was lacking. I cannot say we would ever return, nor recommend it for anyone. We were so disappointed overall as it was the night before our wedding!

Great pizza place!

My first try of Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. Was not disappointed. Great pizza...great atmosphere. Bruce, our waiter, was awesome!

Enjoyed the pizza

Hung out at the bar, enjoyed the service and the pizza. The individual pepperoni was perfect for my solo self. Good beer selections.

Best pizza in Chicago

By Shampeu |

We lived in Chicago and have eaten lots of deep dish pizza. Due's is hands down the best. The crust tastes like cornmeal and the tomato sauce is complex. There is a perfect ratio of sauce to cheese. The caesar salad was good. The service definitely could have been better.

Lovely staff - great pizza

By EmmaRodgers |

Visited here whilst on holiday - can particularly recommend the soup and the meatballs !! Staff were lovely - very attentive , nice atmosphere great cocktails , reasonably priced . Would definitely recommend. Just a word of warning - unless you are exceptionally hungry you just need the individual pizza definitely not the small which is anything but !!!

Should’ve gone somewhere else...

By rkar323 |

I had read a review that they had good thin crust pizza. It was okay, nothing special. The place is tiny....small tables, crowded...but overall a quaint atmosphere. Service was good at first until it got busier...then no one would even get our check or run my card. I waited for over 15 minutes at our table with card in hand...nothing. I asked at the bar and he said he couldn’t help me. I finally stood by the doorway and waited for our waitress who was still not in any kind of hurry. Should’ve been a fun night out but turned into a disappointment all around.

Service didn't meet our expectations and food was under cooked

By Debjani M |

The waitress kept on forgetting us. She took our order and never came back to ask for drinks or to refill the water. Deep dish pizza takes longer to bake (about 40 minutes) because of its thick crust and to be left unattended all that time sure was uncomfortable. I went twice to find our waitress but couldn’t, maybe she was on a break. Finally, she came back after about half an hour and it was clear that she had forgotten about us. The result, our pizza took another half an hour and then when it finally arrived we could see that it was baked in a hurry. The crust could have used another couple of minutes in the oven. Its color was a light yellow, in other words, it was just enough baked. Read the complete review on my blog Life Without Alu?

Great Chicago style pizza

By Rita W |

Visited relatives in the Chicago area, & this is where we all ate dinner. The pizza was really good, and the server was the best. By all means, if you get an opportunity to eat here, I think you will be well pleased.
