Was there with friends from out of town, it was still as good as it was 20 years ago. The best deep dish anywhere, period! Worth the wait, the weather, and the traffic and the nightmare that is downtown.

The food was mediocre at best but what topped it off was the server insulting my wife and asking what was wrong with her nose. 10/10 would never recommend this place - do yourself a favor and don’t stop by to eat here

Their specialty is deep dish pizza, and it has to be said they look great. And if you go for the first time I recommend the one from home One. Mind you, beware of the quantities because they fill a lot and a large pizza is for 4 people.

So, my girlfriend was here from New York city last week. I wanted to show off our city a little bit, so after attending the Driehaus Museum (which was very cool), I guided us to Pizzeria UNO on Ohio street. I haven't been there in MANY years, but I was SO DISAPPOINTED. My memories are of a cool place with lots of bohemian/Italian ambience. And, I've always loved their deep dish pan pizza. The place was HOT as hell!! They seated us in an area where I could see in to the kitchen. Big mistake!! I could see lettuce and other food on the floor that the servers kept walking through, in and out. Our server was not friendly. To be fair, it was crowded and noisy, but she was shouting at us and with NO friendliness about her at all. I ordered a 1/2 lemonade/1/2 club soda. They don't have any club soda and only bottled drinks, no fountain availability at ALL!! What the heck??!!! No fountain drinks?? Worst of all, the pizza was cold and practically cheese-less. I remember the pizza being ooey-gooey with ample mozzarella cheese!! We each ordered individual pizzas, but it was the SAME CHARGE as it would be if we ordered a large for any of the add on ingredients!! The crust was terrible and it was just bland, NO taste to the sausage, the sauce, nor the minimal cheese. I was embarrassed, humiliated and it only solidified my friend's choice to live in New York!! I will NEVER go back. I'm not a huge fan of Lou Malnati's, but it's looking better and better for good pan pizza. So sad.

What can I say? This is the best of the best place in Chicago. You must try at once if you’re visiting Chicago. I love it. Everybody’s love the pizza and this is a great spot to try the real deep dish Chicago style pizza Highly addictive, highly recommended.

Th e pizza was amazing! The staff was friendly. This was a cute little restaurant with great choices. They were right on time with the food. It was hot and fresh.

This is a great alternative to try Chicago's deep dish pizza , I've traveling to the city the last 10 years and never stop in this place before , actually pizza quality is great and so the service . The pizza is crunchy and sauce is also fantastic .

Bartenders awesome. Chicago classic for deep dish pizza. Delicious! Gotta go here to taste original deep dish pizza and the service and atmosphere was awesome!!

Ordered a pepperoni pizza to go and picked it up promptly when it was ready. The hostesses were friendly and helpful. The pizza was OK - the crust definitely lacked but the sauce and the pepperoni was good. I prefer Giordano's but had to try the original!

Ike Sewell was a football star at the University of Texas who came to Chicago, developed deep dish pizza and opened an iconic restaurant at Ohio and Wabash. Located at 29 East Ohio Street, Pizzeria Uno opened in 1943. Today, it has grown to a chain of 102 pizza parlors in 21 states. And deep dish pizza, a Chicago classic with extra sausage and cheese, remains the signature item on the menu. So are my wife and I the only ones who come to Pizzeria Uno and don't order pizza? It's a small venue with small tables but that doesn't deter the crowds. In Chicago, Pizzeria Uno is a popular tourist attraction, like Navy Pier or Wrigley Field. We sometimes order our favorite style of pizza, thin crust with cheese and sausage, but usually we prefer the seafood. On this occasion, we started with cheesy garlic bread, a bowl of New England clam chowder and Caesar salad. For an entree, my wife had lemon basil salmon while I chose baked haddock. If you're on a more fish/less meat diet, like us, this is the way to go. Then you still have an appetite for dessert, which is heavenly. Don't miss The Grand Finale, Granny Smith's All-American, consisting of Granny Smith apples with sugar and cinnamon, baked with brown sugar and rolled oat crust and served warm with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. It tastes as good as it sounds. Mixed with great conversation from adjacent tables and booths, it makes for an exhilarating evening. Even if you don't sample the deep dish pizza.

We were lucky enough to eat outdoors. The service was excellent, the prices modest by local standards and the portions generous. The main draw was to try the speciality dish, deep pan pizza. I found it inedible and can think of nothing to commend it. From the hard brittle crust to the sloppy, tasteless filling it was impossible to eat and not worth the 40 minute wait. A bad idea, and surprising the concept has survived and thrived for over 80 years.

It’s more of bar and less of a restaurant. We tried the veggie gluten free pizza, which was good, but they are very slow and crowded.

We had been anticipating eating at Pizzeria Uno for many years. (I had prevously dined here about twenty years ago.) The pizza is still terrific, and the manager was very helpful. We will dine here every time we visit the Windy City.

We got to Pizzera Uno just in time, we were able to snag a table for 2 without a wait on a Friday night! Our service was great and we were able to try deep dish pizza for the first time while visiting Chicago. I will say, we did hit one other deep dish restaurant in Chicago and we agreed that Pizzeria Uno had better ingredients in their pizza, which would make us definitely stop by Pizzeria Uno if we visit again! We did learn that we prefer a deep dish pizza with lots of toppings, so if you are new to deep dish, I suggest picking multiple toppings rather than just one or two. Definitely worth the stop if you're visiting out of town!

Friendly service, cosy atmosphere and good value considering that it could be just a tourist trap. Food however was average at best, pizza a little undercooked and chewy calamari.

Cute place. Found out I’m not a fan of Chicago deep dish, but the pizza was good. Nice atmosphere. Wait time for two was quick. Location was across from our hotel. We shared a medium and is was perfect.

Had a Terrible experience here while looking for a Downtown Deep dish experience. Was seated on an overcrowded outside patio. Had pre-ordered our pizza when we submitted our name for a table and was advised that our pizza would then be served 10 minutes after being seated. Waited for almost 45 minutes for food to arrive. Big disappointment was the terrible and almost ‘rude’ service we received. First time I’ve never left a tip. Look elsewhere for your pizza!!!!!!

If you are lucky and get a table, you have to bring a lot of patience, it all took an extremely long time, but was very friendly. Quaint decor and atmosphere, very sympathetic. The starter was nothing special, the deep dish original was okay but I also have no comparison options because this was my first deep dish pizza. In any case, you should order the deep dish pizza smaller rather than larger, because between show and tomatoes there is an unexpected huge amount of cheese, you really don't manage too much of it!

The good news--service was good and house salad was fine but overdressed. Sadly, this is a pizza place and the pizza is the worst deep dish we have ever had. The crust is so dry as to be inedible. Have been to Lou Malnati's (pizza just fine--get the sausage, Malnati's salad phenomenal), Giordano's (fine--order your pizza while you wait for your table so both ready at same time), and Pizano's is best. Gino's East does deliver and travels ok to the hotel. We so many options, the is absolutely no need to visit Pizzeria Uno ever again.

Our waitress was great!!!! The Pizza we ordered with all the meat was fantastic. They gave lost of meat

This is debatably the original Chicago deep pan pizza. Always busy . Lots of character. Great original Chicago pan pizza. Expect to wait unless you are there at off hours weekdays. Great staff. You can even do carry out. If they are too busy walk one block to Pizzaria Due (Aka Uno) and get the same style, food and location. A must go for anyone in search of the original pan pizza.

This place was amazing. Absolutely the best deep dish pizza I have ever had. There is a plaque on the outside of the building that says it was the birthplace of the deep dish. This restaurant made the hole trip to Chicago. Loved how it was downtown in the middle of all the tall buildings and beautiful architecture. Cant wait to go back.

Sure, this is THE original Chicago deep-dish in the original location. Phenomenal sauce and crust for sure—just like my local Pizzaria Uno (see below notes re: WEIRD sausage). But THIS location is NOT worth the hassle unless you're already in downtown Chicago, traveling on foot, and have unlimited time. I'll stick to my local Pizzaria Uno. [Note on sausage: our NUMERO UNO® style pizza had a layer of sausage (paste?) plastered to the pizza surface that cannot be picked off without ruining the pizza. Even my son wouldn't eat it, and he ALWAYS requests sausage as a topping.]

First time experiencing Chicago and this restaurant was a must on my list. Corey was an amazing server and walked me through the menu. The pizza did not disappoint. Would definitely come back!

I took some out of town friends to Pizzeria Uno after a Cubs game. The deep dish pan pizza was great. One of my friends isn't a big pizza fan, but he loved it and how fresh the ingredients were.

29 East Ohio downtown Chicago The individual size has as much dough, cheese, and topping as a large at other places. They have been here since 1943, this is the original location.

If you are in chicago and if you'd like to try chicago specialty "deep dish pizza", then this is a good place. Personnally I prefer thin and crispy pizza, but this is also good

Being from the West Coast and not having been to Chicago before, we felt compelled to eat at the birthplace of deep dish pizza. Three of us ate here tonight and we are so full we may never eat again. We started with beverages and split one order of garlic bread with cheese that came with marinara sauce. We then split a medium numero uno meaning we each got two slices. None of us could finish our slices. So huge and so yummy. We were quite surprised by how light the pizza tasted presumably due to the fresh ingredients and fantastic crust. The server was very attentive. We showed up at 4:30 and were immediately seated at an outdoor table. Great experience.

I took my 13 year old for his birthday dinner because it was recommended by a couple of friends. We loved the pizza. The birthday boy liked it so much that we ate there a second time during our one week vacation in Chicago.

Uno’s Pizzeria in Chicago is a must-visit for pizza lovers! Their iconic deep-dish pizza is everything you’d hope for—flaky, buttery crust, rich tomato sauce, and perfectly melted cheese. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with a classic Chicago vibe that adds to the experience. The staff was friendly and efficient, ensuring we had a great meal from start to finish. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Uno’s is the perfect place to indulge in the city’s most famous dish. Highly recommend for an authentic taste of Chicago!

I ordered the deep dish individual pan Uno Original and a veggie. Crust was horrible and the sauce was tasteless. They dumped raw tomatoe sauce on it. The pepperoni was undercooked or it was a turkey. The itailian sausage was a slab of grey meat with no flavor. The cheese was the only thing that tasted good. We both ate two to three bites. Picked at it then just threw $30 in the trash. Sorry folks. I was hoping that this would be a game changer for me. I missed the old fashion deep dish. First time in Chicago so I thought they would have the best since they created it first. They need help badly. Not sure why the mix reviews. Could be different chefs. Who knows. Like to have my money back. Was going to just drive by Chicago. Now I wish I did. The thought of that pizza tasted better.

Even though I am not a real fan of deep dish (prefer thin crust) this is definitely one of the best deep dish pizza in Chicago, awesome quality. Just remember it's always good to make a reservation in advance or you might have to wait pretty long. Friendly employees and great service.

Deep dish pizza is a must in Chicago. It's their stuff. It's not pizza. It's a tomato and mozzarella pie. If you expect something similar to our pizza don't go there. If you want to try something different you can try

Pizzeria Uno one one of the oldest pizza places in Chicago. They must be doing something right because they are still a popular place to visit after all of these years. Their deep dish pizza's are some of most tasty and delicious pizza that you will encounter. They have a variety of pizzas and combination of topping that you can choose from. The tomato and cheese are always fresh and tasty. The peperoni and other toppings are just as fresh, and the seasoning in the pizza compliments the whole pizza pie. They have nice appetizers as well. Their calamari appetizer is really good. The buffalo wings, cheese sticks are a can't miss also. The prices are very reasonable and affordable. The atmosphere is lively and laid back, and the service is very attentive even on crowded days. The draft beers are nice and cold. The mixed cocktails are worth a try also. You also have a choice to sit at the bar to drink and dine. The management is really good here, and will address any issue that might arise. There is usually a wait to get seated, but is is well worth the wait. They have indoor and outdoor seating, Enjoy a good day or night out there.

On my long weekend in July visiting Chicago, me and a few coworkers wanted to get deep dish pizza, we decided to go to the original Pizzeria Uno. Uno is located in the lower level of an old brick building, near downtown Chicago. On our visit the restaurant was full, our wait was about 20 minutes. The interior is small, so they do their best to accommodate, it retains a lot of it's classic aesthetic. We ordered two pizzas, one pepperoni, and the other was a meat lovers pie. I have to say it they were pretty good pies, both had a firm buttery crust, and the sauce was really good, sweet and savory. I was really impressed with the pizza, we also ordered beers and salad. There is a full bar in the pizzeria. Overall I was really pleased with our pizzas and the service, even in a very busy day our server was attentive and helpful.

Pizzeria Uno/Due is our favorite Chicago style deep dish pizza! We always get the Numero Uno, and it is always fantastic! Their sauce and crust are hands down the best we've ever had. You can tell it's fresh and each pizza is great quality. Can't wait to go back and enjoy another pizza here!

Good vibes but not a deep dish fan, chicken BBQ pizza was delicious though. The vegetarian soup was delicious as well as the mango ice tea. Wait time at dinner was a short 15 minute wait.

Never again First the hostess was rude. Never explained we had to order deep dish pizza while waiting for a table. We only found out when she told another customer that’s waiting to be seated. We later figure out it does take 30 minutes to make a deep dish pizza, she should have told us that. The waiter nor hostess offered my 5 & 7 year olds kids menu. We didn’t know there’s kids menu until after dinner and we saw a family with kids menu. We did order a pasta dish off the regular menu for the kids to share. Suppose to come with a salad, they never brought the salad out. Also one of us threw up that night in our hotel room from the food.

Some of our friends from Ireland visited Pizzeria Uno the other day and recommended it us knowing that we are HUGE pizza lovers...but to be honest, we didn't love it. The original deep dish pizza was OK, nothing more. Don't know if I'd come a second time, I'd probably try another place.

We didn't have to wait long to be seated inside to eat, the waitress was great and provided great service and when her shift was over she brung over the waitress that was taking over for her and introduced her and the 2nd waitress kept the same great service as the 1st. the food was GREAT, my grandkids really enjoyed their food also

They claim to have invented the 'deep-dish' pizza. Whether true or not the pizza is delicious. We had the original Numero Uno and the 3 of us shared a 'small'. It was plenty, and plenty good. This is a very small location and we lucked into no line. A bottle of Chianti and a shared dish of spumoni topped off the evening $50.79. Recommended. I hear there is a Duo down the street serving the same product, but our little spot was a classic.

This morning my teenage son and I took the deep dish pizza cooking class. Lupe, our instructor, was fantastic! She definitely has a passion for what she’s doing. She was so funny and informative. We learned so much from Lupe like, the history of the restaurant, stories from the restaurants and of course how to make their famous dish pizza and a quick and easy salad dressing. When we were finished, we were able to enjoy the pizzas that we made. Amazing time!! My 17-year-old son rated this as his most favorite thing to do while we were in Chicago. Note, there is a Groupons available which we took advantage of.

Stayed in nearby hotel. This place was local, quint, but with great service and good food for the price. Would absolutely eat here for Chicago deep dish rather than traipsing around town if you are already staying nearby.

Service was great! Clean and friendly environment with a cute outside seating area. The individual deep dish cheese pizza was so/so. Nothing wrong with it but flavor was minimal, not much cheese, very acidic sauce, crust was underwhelming. I would return but look for a better option first.

I went to the restaurant and I was told it was a 30 min wait for a table and if I wanted to order take out, it would be 45 mins. I was staying around the corner, so I ordered takeout and then told to come back in 30 mins by the hostess (as I went back to my room). I went back at the time I was directed and had to wait another 10+ mins. I then left having paid for a soda and then noticed the soda wasn’t included in the take out bundle - had to go back.to the restaurant I then had to walk 2 mins around the corner to my hotel and ate the pizza immediately. It was cold! The pizza tasted good, it was just cold and thats why I marked it average. If you LOVE deep, thick crust this will be enjoyable to you. If you LOVE thin and crispy crust, you won’t enjoy this pizza. Think it the pizza was hot, it would be much more enjoyable! The service at the front and providing for clients needs requires some tweaking.

We went downtown Chicago to check out the new casino and to revisit Uno’s for salad and pizza. The worst from the moment we sat down. I have so many issues that I’ll just list them: dirty table, cold air down my neck, iced tea with no ice, salad lettuce was literally brown and tasteless, pizza was the wrong size (ordered medium, small came to table) and of course after waiting the obligatory 40 minutes we didn’t send it back, canned tomato sauce topping and a few wilted green pepper slivers, no taste just terrible. And without a doubt the worst waitress. Again, a list: complaints about her job, complaints about us stacking our salad plates because “we were supposed to use them for the pizza”, asked a few times for salt and pepper “I have to pour some, people don’t usually ask for it”, brought our pizza but it was a small not medium-neighboring tables (3) had wrong pizzas too and one had the wrong salad which she offered to another table “well it’s free”, then…to put the final nail in the coffin, she brought us a bill with errors. Twice. And I still think it was wrong but I just wanted to get out. The other two tables got bills with errors too. I said to one table “what is going on!” Dumbfounded all. Never again going back, or recommending or even believing “Chicago is home of the deep dish”.

We had planned on going to Gino’s but Uno’s Was next door to our hotel so won out. You order your food first then wait to be seated in the little extension on the front of the restaurant. The wait was maybe 20 minutes or so which wasn’t too bad. We were seated, got drinks and waited for our pie - half cheese, half pepperoni. When it came we were surprised at how deep it was. We knew we were getting a Chicago deep dish pie but this was more than we expected. Anyway, it was a nice pie. Service was ok without being great.

Definitely a place for tourists. The food is good. Slow service and kitchen. Expensive menu and even more so if you don't consider that you should order the smallest pizza to your liking. Patience

Coming from out of town, each Chicago visit requires a pizza stop. Uno's is our go to for deep dish pizza.

Advertised as “Authentic Chicago Deep Dish Pizza” However, I would wager this place has never even seen a Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. The crust was hard and inedible. The toppings lacked flavour and there was water in the pizza case suggesting that it had come fresh from the freezer. The special seasoned fries however were fantastic. And the local craft beers were also tasty and not heavy on the stomach. Will unfortunately have to find somewhere else for my next trip for a deep dish.

The service was good but the food no so much. The individual pizza seemed like the crust was stale. I had the chicken bbq and it tasted good but then again the crust was not the right texture.

I grew up eating UNO's deep dish in the 1970's and return every few yrs to Chicago and rarely miss going to UNO's on OHIO st. My Deep dish spinach pizza I had on was extremely disappointing. It was half the depth of the usual UNO deep dish and the crust was not the usual flaky thick mouth watering crust I remember. The Service was excellent! The wait was not long, but I miss the REAL DEAL.

Marked as a landmark, we also visited Pizzeria Uno during our Chicago trip. Overall impression - we've eaten better. The ambience is unwelcoming, packed with tables and poor service were the main criticisms. The beer was off and my husband was asked twice to order another variety. But the absolute no-go is dumping the tables. In a large transparent box, food and beverage scraps as well as all the dishes are stacked and then carried through the whole place. Who comes up with that?

The reason why Pizzaria Due is visible from Pizzeria Uno is because this place is small! Originally from 1943 I doubt the owner could have imagined the popularity of his invention. I don't need to talk about the food or service, you you know that will be good. But advise is that you should either go early or very late. There are very few seats in this location (maybe 15 tables in my estimation. We went after drinks around 10:15 pm and were seated immediately. Excellent place!

Because there seems to be no way to warn people away from the frozen Uno pizzas they infest the grocery stores with: do not buy. There is no way to bake them and get an edible result. Really - thaw first - miserable result you'll spend fun hours cleaning your oven afterwards. Bake from frozen - a Monty Python joke. Do not buy frozen Uno pizzas anywhere, for any reason. SO =Uno restaurant, what are you going to do about your suck-egg pizzas outside your overpriced restaurants? DON'T BUY THEIR SH*T.

Slow service. After being seated (after a 55 min wait time, told it would be 40min), it took at least 10min before a server came to our table. We had to tell our hostess no one had been to our table. It took so long for our pizza to come out, we got it to go. We take it back to our hotel and find the sausage was undercooked. Very upsetting and disappointing. Also, the sauce had too much garlic for my stomach.

Very disappointing for our first deep dish pizza experience. We arrived for an early dinner and were seated promptly and then waited too long until our server wandered over to bring menus. After our order was taken, the salad was brought to the table fairly quickly but our drinks were forgotten. We waited and waited and were able to catch the server and ask about our drinks which she said she forgot and did not apologize. We then waited an hour for our pizza to arrive. We asked about it a couple of times and were told that sometimes they come out fast, sometimes not. The pizza was just ok, nothing special and it was not hot so had obviously been out of the oven for a while. We had much better the next day. Service terrible so would not recommend.

Obviously we are talking improperly about a pizza as it resembles a savory pie with tomato and cheese.... That said, it's a historic place in Chicago and you eat well at a good price. Service nn just fast but very friendly.

You cannot book a table so walk-ups are necessary. They take your order and after a wait of in our case 25 mins we got a text to say the table was ready. Quick round of drinks then the pizzas arrived. A small between two is adaquate of the individual which is slightly more for one person. Our waitress was very entertaining and made the night. Great choice of toppings for meat eaters or for veggies and the deep pan pizza is a must do on any visit to Chicago.

Everyone knows about the pizza, and that’s why they come. But I was foolish enough to order pasta...bad idea. It was some overcooked penne from a grocery store with some pizza sauce thrown on it. Yuck. And the salads were mostly iceberg lettuce. Nothing special. It’s really packed and busy. It took a longgg time to get our pizza, so I recommend ordering while you wait. Server was kind of crazy and mixed up, but fun.

Wow.. what a pizza.. bit of a wait for a table, approx 35 mins (but we’re advised on this due to popularity) and nearly gave up waiting, but so glad to preserved.. Big salad starter for one (which was more than enough for two) followed by a small deep pan pizza.. I enjoy a pizza but even the small was too much for me and left a quarter (which can be boxed to takeaway). It’s busy, friendly welcoming staff, great place to visit..

Delicious pizzas! Pizzeria Uno never fails to impress! The crust is always perfectly crispy, and the toppings are fresh and flavorful. Their cozy ambiance adds to the overall dining experience. Highly recommend!!!

Great service and fantastic pizza! It was fun to visit the original and I have to say they take their pizza seriously. Good beer and bar selection as well.

Loved this experience. Feels like family in all dimensions - service, food and taste. Pizzas unlike anything tasted elsewhere so unique as well as delicious. Can’t use finger licking good, but it is.

Pizzeria Uno is a Chicago institution that’s been here for over 30 years that I know of. It got the same nostalgic look inside and out. They have their own unique crust recipe with corn meal in the dough which gives a really good flavor. They hand make the pies to order vs. having the crusts all prepped in the pans beforehand. Makes a difference in my opinion. We started with the shrimp and crab dip that came with toasts. There was plenty of shrimp in the dip and it was flavorful. Honestly though, I wouldn’t order an appetizer if it’s 3 or less of you eating as the apps fill you up and you can’t eat much pizza pie then! Corey our server was very friendly, not in a rush and we really liked that he talked with us a bit. The Broccolini pizza pie was delicious. Sauce to crust and everything in between was really flavorful! Even if you’re a die hard stuffed pizza fan of other famous Chicago pies, it’s good to try this pie at the original location while you’re downtown!

I'm not a huge pizza fan and typically I like thin crust New York style pies.....until I ate here!!!! Holy cow this pizza is the best I've ever had. No really I would drive the 2.5 hours each way and wait just as long in line for this pizza

It’s a really nice place with very friendly staff, and it was worth waiting 45 minutes for the pizza. The pizza was very good and not like other pizzas... so try it.

I heard so much about fry pizza that I had to try it! We ask for the personal size which is enough. This place is definitely popular not only for tourist but also for locals. Actually, both tables next to us were locals. Crowed. We had to wait around 20 minutes and it was not a peak time to eat. Service was friendly and fast. Pizza has the reputation it deserved. Don’t know about parking since we were waking and taking uber when need to.

After 50 years and 100’s of pizzas I have lost faith. Strictly for tourists now. New crust is too fluffy. Less cheese than in the past. The sauce is now a thin spaghetti sauce with no pieces of tomato. The waiter never asked how it was. My guess is who knew the answer. Much better pies elsewhere don’t waste your time here

If you're looking for traditional Chicago pizza, this is the place. Yummo! We ordered several kinds- deep dish and thin crust- and had our own smorgasbord. We had deep dish cheese, pepperoni, and sausage and thin crust vegetable. I would make sure to eat there again on my next visit.

Very nice restaurant specializing - you’ll never guess - in pizza. Especially in deep dish one, aka Chicago style. Many sources claim this kind of pizza was invented in exactly this restaurant - or at gained popularity here. Pizza is offered in various sizes - you can eat it alone (individual serving) or with a large company. Just keep in mind that pizza takes quite a while to get cooked - around 45 minutes. But it’s well worth the wait - it’s mindblowingly delicious. The place is a little crowded, but cozy and not noisy. Staff is busy, but friendly and attentive. It’s a must-visit to get to know local food.

Poor Server quality and long wait times. It takes more than an hour to come out of the order. The drinks I ordered didn't come out. It tastes normal and never comes next. Too bad it's such a famous place.

The wait was ridiculous the food was not great at all. 80.00 wasted walk down the block to eatlay so much better food!!!

After some research there only seemed like one sensible choice of where to go for a deep dish pizza. The place was very busy but it does have a sister restaurant a block north called ‘Pizzeria Due’. They inform you that each pizza does take 45 minutes to cook so bare that in mind if you are in a hurry. The end product was well worth the wait though! Unequivocally the best pizza I have ever tasted! Servers were very friendly and there was a good choice of local beers and lagers on offer! A must visit place if you go to Chicago!

Pizzeria douay is much better than its sister location Pizzeria Uno in chicago. Pizzeria due is a little less crowded, and the surroundings make it a much preferable experience to going to uno. The pizza is exactly the same if not better at Pizzeria Due

This place serves the classical Chicago pizza called deep dish pizza. The Number One receipt is delicious. They also have a wide variety of local beers. One of my friends told me about this place. I truly recommend it.

Great food and cute place! Had to try the original deep dish pizza and it did not disappoint. Also had spaghetti, garlic cheese bread, and Caesar salad and there wasn't a crumb left of anything.

It was so cool visiting the original Pizzeria Uno. The deep dish pizza was massive. Great service. Lots of memorabilia on the walls.

I came here to try the original deep dish Chicago style pizza and this place was pretty good! Perhaps there are better places but this place is not half bad for a chain. I would recommend

This is the one that started it all. A visit to Chicago is not complete without a visit to Pizzeria Uno! Get a big enough pie to have take away for later!

Wow! This amazing place with great dishes! I had to go because this is the birthplace of the deep dish pizza! Loved the local craft beer. Amazing history behind this place. Original and with tons of atmosphere. Very friendly staff working here. Thank you for making me a good time here!

Stopped here at random for lunch before heading to the airport and was not disappointing, lovely deep pan pizza, craft beers and great conversation from the barman. Will certainly be back next time I'm in town.

Inside and outside seating available. Specialty is deep dish pizza. But soups and salads were better than average.

Some of the wait staff were wonderful. Our waitress seemed disgruntled we were there. Food was pretty good. Didn’t seem very clean.

I went to this restaurant yesterday Fri 20th Sept evening with 4 colleagues and firstly would like to say that the pizza was good and our waitress was lovely and friendly (didn’t catch her name, lady from California) but the front of house server was awful. So rude and unwelcoming, mumbling so difficult to understand her and pulling facing when it took us a few minutes to select our pizzas for pre-order (it was our first time to the restaurant so we didn’t know the menu). She is a customer’s first point of contact at the restaurant and does it a disservice. Worth persevering for the pizza but I recommend the restaurant management review who is on the front door.

I first had deep dish pizza at Pizzeria Uno in the 1960s. Then it was one of the few places in Chicago that made reliably good deep dish. Over the years the place where it all began evolved from a local favorite to tourist attraction. We went to Uno's because some family members had heard about it for years but had never been there, as they live in Texas. Hence off to Pizzeria Uno we went. The pizza is still good, the service is still good, but it is just not quite the same as when it was that local neighborhood place. Wait times have expanded, and you are now required to order pizza before they will even put you on the list to get a table. They told us it would be 45 minutes, and indeed we were at a table in about 45 minutes. Unfortunately, we did not see food for about another 30 minutes. Fortunately we had a good server who stayed on top of beverage refills and kept us informed of what was going on. That made up for the extra wait time. Once the pizza got there it was perfectly prepared, hot out of the oven, and a great example of what Chicago deep dish pizza is all about. Unfortunately for Pizzeria Uno a number of other deep dish pizza restaurants have opened in the Chicago area that serve as good or better pizza without the wait times imposed by the crowds of tourists. Would I go back, yes, would it be my first choice no

It has been 30 years since I have had a Chicago deep dish pizza. Pizzeria Uno was the first meal stop after landing at ORD and checking into the hotel. I grew up on Chicago deep pizza while at the University of Illinois. The pizza a Pizzeria Uno is as good as every and just as filling. I should have gone into "training" so I could finish my half of the pizza. The Numeria Uno was FILLED with sausage. Don't forget it takes about 1 hour to bake the pie.

Sat at bar on own because was full on a Thursday night. Ordered classic salad and small deep dish classic. Bar man suggested i ordered the smallest deep dish as they are filling and he was right! Crust was buttery / crispy and with plenty of filling. Batman was classic Chicago and answered of questions were asked. Top bloke without over selling

Great Deep Dish Pizza. I had the individual Sausage Pizza. The crust had the perfect thickness, the sausage covered the entire pizza, and it had a nice marinara sauce on top. I like the way Uno’s covers the bottom of the pizza with mozzarella so that the crust doesn’t get soggy. Because these are deep dish pizzas, they take longer to bake (about 45 minutes), so plan accordingly. The wait is worth it. I knew what I wanted, so I was able to order before I was seated. If you have to wait to be seated, order while you wait. Then your pizza will be ready shortly after you are seated. When I visit Chicago, this is my “go to” spot for a true Chicago-style deep dish pizza.

Great place to visit and get an awesome meal. Get there early though. The pizza is so good but unfortunately it takes about 45 minutes to cook. The appetizers are amazing.

Five of us in Chicago for just one evening so had to try some deep dish pizza. No time to queue for a table or takeout, so called the restaurant from the L train on the way on from the airport. Got off at Clark/Lake and wandered along the River Walk the up to the restaurant. Pizza ready to go and delicious. Ate it on the sidewalk outside.

I stopped here by myself - my husband was in meetings - It was almost noon and I was able to get a table outside. I think there are only about four outside tables. My server was fabulous - very friendly, always moving, and polite. I got a couple beers and an individual pepperoni pizza. I waited maybe 30 minutes for the pizza which is normal for Unos. The pizza was fabulous and loaded with pepperoni. She warns you how hot the oven is so be careful! Take your patience with you and don’t get a bunch of appetizers - you won’t need them!

Had a late lunch. The pizza was really good. Service was good, a little slow on getting drinks, but all in all I’d recommend this place. The only real downside is sitting outside which we did because it was a really nice day. We were approached by a homeless man while we were eating. We watched him scam several people out of money right in front of us. This wasn’t the restaurants fault, just bad that it’s allowed while people are eating.

Looking for a great deep dish pizza....look no further than Pizzeria Uno. Just got in for lunch before the rush arrived. Had the Numero Uno deep disher and it didn't disappoint. Just so awesome. The décor inside was amazing.

The pizza was a big disappointment. I have tried to get in here for years, but have always found the line to be a deterrent. This weekend was different; so we were excited...then the pizza. Bland as bland can be, no seasoning, burnt crust, horrible. What are people waiting for????

Were very satisfied we choose to eat here. Arrived at dinner time, very busy on a Friday night. They ask us for our name, hand us a menu. Must place order prior to being seated. We placed our order, was seated, and server confirmed order and brought us our drinks. Place is small and tight, patio was very busy also 2 washrooms to go around for patrons. Left satisfied

Pizzeria Uno offers an incredible menu and stylish decor. Each and every pizza here is loaded flavorful toppings and artisanal ingredients. The sleek ambiance and attentive service create the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience!!! 10 on 10!!!

Just went to the Pizza cooking class with Lupe. This class was absolutely AMAZING. Learned so much and have already reproduced this at home! Hard to find authentic deep dish pizza and this place hit the mark. Never have been treated so kindly like family. If you like pizza as much as we do, take this class and reserve ahead! We went on a Wednesday and it was a small group but Saturday's are usually filled. Thank you Lupe and all the staff for making this a day to remember!

I came in during my short vacation and sat at the bar in which my bartender was Ramiro a very kind man who is very personable and attentive. Great food and service will be going again 100%

My coworker recommended me this pizzeria saying that I'd eat the best pizza in Chicago here. Thus, we had extremely high expectations and yes the pizza is very good, but idk if it's our favorite! Food was better than the service.

As a European and pizza lover I was so excited to try this claimed to be “original, authentic”, etc. pizza but it was one huge disappointment. It’s not a pizza and fellow Italians (am sure) would definitely support me. Why call a vegetable / cheese pie on shortcrust dough “pizza”? So, it is touristic, far from pizza veggie pie. And since it is pandemic, the only option (other than take away) was sitting in the hallway... the guy who I faced with was not friendly at all. I imagine for the US visitors Chicago pizza is something meaningful, so, European visitors, please opt for something nicer - even pizza from Starbucks rostery at Michigan Avenue tastes way better. I loved Chicago food scene but this place was one huge disappointment. Thanks for reading

The perfect Chicago pizza experience! The staff were all so kind. Our waiter Robert was fantastic and the food delicious.

We visited on 3-29-23, mid afternoon and our waitress was an older women who was so rude and I felt like she belonged at a Dicks Last Resort Restaurant. The deep dish pizza was disgusting! Service was terrible because of our waitress, she rarely came to our table during our hour long wait, and then when we questioned the wait time, she was even more unpleasant! I would never recommend Unos pizza to anyone and would recommend sticking to Giordanos.

Wait was not long, loved the atmosphere! You can tell the place has lots of history. Didn't expect such a delicious pie! Best deep dish pizza we have had yet! Great service and prices are very affordable!

I will give respect to the fact that this is an institution and original, but many other places have done this specialty much better. The staff was curt which kind of made it an interesting experience. The dough was my biggest concern as it had no flavor. Plan a visit to be over two hours just for pizza.

Small restaurant with a nice ambience. We walked up and ordered. Waitress text us when the table was ready. Service was good and food good value for money. We went for a medium deep dish pizza and it was more than enough for the two of us. Food was very tasty!

The wait was at least 2 hours! We were excited to Eat our Pizza but the crust I. The pizza crust was so Hard we couldn’t cut it Off the plate. The restaurant is filthy and the staff was pretty young and sloppy. I wouldn’t go back again. It was so bad this is my first review ever but I had to write it! Terrible experience for our family! The only good the thing was the African American waiter working hard I. The rain while the other staff talked.

Tonight we ate at Pizzeria Uno on East Ohio Street, having just arrived in Chicago, Illinois, a few hours earlier after a very long journey from the U.K. We had heard the story that this was the place where the world-famous Deep Dish Pizza had been invented so we had to give it a try while in the city. We arrived at 5:15pm and the place looked like it was heaving with a queue for tables, however we walked up to the desk and upon telling them we didn't mind sitting outdoors, were seated immediately in a tight-fitting terrace along the side of the restaurant. Our server was a young Irish lass who was in the U.S. for 3 months on a work visa scheme and had managed to get a job at Uno's along with some of her friends. She ssid that there would be a 45 minute wait for the pizza as it would be freshly made. We were happy with this and it gave us time to enjoy a few drinks and read up on the history of Pizzeria Uno. Apparently it was founded in 1943 by Ike Sewell who also invented the special pizza that the restaurant had become famous for. His diner was so popular that he soon opened a second one across the way and called it Pizzeria Due. We decided to order the house speciality - 'Numero Uno Deep Dish Pizza' and were advised to go for the Medium size at $24.99 as this would feed our party of three - and indeed it did! The pizza came with generous toppings of cheese, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and green peppers and a crispy, high sided base. The flavours were delicious and it was a challenge to eat all the pizza. We washed our food down with the ever popular bottles of Coors Light but also tried a local beer called '18th Street Rise of the Angels', a 7.7% IPA brewed at neighbouring Hammond, Indiana. The beer's bitterness really did compliment the flavoursome spices and meats in the pizza. Our meal and drinks came to a very reasonable $75 (including gratuity) and we walked away from Pizzeria Uno feeling very content and very full on a warm Chicago summer evening.

This place is like eating in a dingy youth hostel. We ate deep dish in 5/6 other restaurants in town and really enjoyed each one so are not fussy or averse to blue-collar dining establishments. Lou Malnati’s, Pequods, Giordano’s are all infinitely better, and even Jim’s original (located next to a multi-lane highway) smells better. The pizza here is crumbly, overly moist and unappetising while the entire restaurant has the ambience of a public convenience. Do yourself a favour and avoid.

I've been to the original Uno more times than I can count! I've been coming to Chicago for the past 20 years, usually at least one trip per year, and this is my go-to first place to grab lunch when I get in town. They are my favorite for deep dish pizza! The atmosphere at the original location is great! There's something about the original location...their pizza here is better than the other locations scattered throughout the US. Why, you ask? This is THE place where it started! I am heading back up this weekend and signed up to take their pizza making class! I can't wait! I'm working on perfecting making my own deep dish at home! I should report back with another review after taking the class! Get a size pizza larger than you think you can eat, so you'll have leftovers! I won't shamefully admit the what size entire pizza I ate on my own at one sitting!

I was starving so I ate it but nothing special. Very bland. We got cheese sticks and calamari. Straight from the big box stores. Deep dish pizza. Flavorless. Spaghetti, again bland and flavorless.

I ordered Uno's pizza and Lou's at the same time, I lived in downtown Chicago for 13 years. When I recieved both 6 packs and gave them to friends, Uno;s was so very poor. Kinda gross. Not the Uno I remember. Hopefully my feral cats like this crap. Lou's pizza were amazing

The founder of deep dish. And nothing has changed since the 40s. I like pizza. I know pizza-the style is not the problem. It's the lack of love in the pizza. There's a lack of salt in the crust. A lack of love in the toppings. They just throw them on. There's a lack of execution here that makes me believe they're riding on the "we're the first" mentality and therefore will never change. They also hound you with photos to sell and create an experience at the "first deep dish place." The service however, lovely. They are the reason why I don't drop them to a 1 star.

Got stuck in Chicago after a missed flight and was dying to visit here after reading all the trip advisor reviews. So impressed absolutely loved the pizza! All four of us got deep dish pepperoni pizzas and we all loved them. Decor was great it is a great spot for a casual bite with friends. If I’m ever back in Chicago I’ll be paying this place a visit again!

You have to taste the Deep Dish Pizza: it's fantastic. The restaurant is furnished in a fine Irish pub style.

On a girls trip and we wanted to try authentic Chicago deep dish pizza. After being referred to unos pizziaria we fell in love. Each of us order our own individual pizzas of our liking and not one us could finish... good prices, amazing food, full bellies and we are all completed satisfied!

Everybody was dreaming and telling of classic Chicago-style deep dish pizzas. There are many places those days but as I understood this is where it was born. That being said, it was clear I needed to go here! :) To be honest, I expected it to be a bit different as I know how a classic, original italian pizza tastes like. So it wasn't quite I disliked it but I would probably not order it again. Taste and quality was really good - it was just my personal preference overall. So if you want to try ordinal deep dish pizza, I'd recommend going here. Especially the team around is really kind and positive so I liked staying there although I was alone and it took some time until the dish was served. Overall, I'm glad I went to Pizzeria Uno and had a try - great experience! BTW: I had a single portion and that was more than enough. In case you are looking for a challenge, just order a regular pan or bigger for yourself;)

My husband wanted to taste the Chicago speciality, this restaurant was apparently renowned for this famous deep dish. The welcome at the entrance made by the two young people...quite brief and cold as welcome. We were finally settled after more than half an hour waiting (outside the restaurant was far from complete)... Order made at our arrival because it takes 45 minutes to prepare the famous deep dish. For my part fried squid....(not really exceptional). In summary, we were disappointed as each other deepened our meal.

The pizza was tasty but the service was spotty at best. I’d say maybe 3.5 stars. Has the soup salad and pizza and all were pretty good. I’d go back. Maybe not my first choice but certainly better than many other options in the area

Just WOW! Do yourself a favour and have a deep rush pizza here. The original and the best. I can't believe this place is right next door to where I was staying and I waited until the last night to try it. Absolutely amazing - Do it

Pizzeria Due was closed due to Covid I guess so we went to Pizzeria Uno across the street. 2 hour wait after ordering the pizza with the hostess. Barely any cheese in my deep dish pizza and it was sprinkled with slivers of onion and green pepper on the top! Never again! Was not the Chicago Deep Dish I was craving. Will got to Lou Malnettis, Pizanos, Gino's East, Giordanos....anywhere but not here again!

I've eaten here twice, and had a fantastic experience both times. The pizza is amazing, and the atmosphere is fun. Loved that I was able to unwind with a glass of Prosecco after a long day of walking the city.

Came wanting my first experience with Chicago deep dish. Was so disappointed. The crust was so bad. Very hard and tasteless. The staff was great and the atmosphere was as well.

My husband and I tried several different popular Chicago deep dish pizza restaurants and uno’s was by far the best. We had the brocolli and spinach pizza and wow, so good! Our pizza was so good that we ordered some to be shipped some to our loved ones before we left. 10 stars from us!!

The food was burned and hard to eat the server never brought asked if we wanted drinks the cheese sticks were still frozen

The original deep pan pizza is different from the modern day chain pizza. The base is actiually this and pastry-like, but this means there is plenty of room for toppings - almost like a pie / quiche. We had the original, with lots of quite garlicy sausage which I liked but my wife less so. The kids had pepperoni only which was probably a better decision. We waited 30 minutes for a table early on a Saturday evening which wasn't bad.

Great bartender. We had a pizza and a salad. Be prepared to wait a long time for the pizza to bake but it is worth the wait. We sat at the bar and had great service. Small and cozy and fun.

We really liked the deep dish pizza and will return. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is great

First visit and loved it! Had the Chicago deep dish pizza and loved it. Everything was very fresh. Service was excellent!

This place has good pizza and its history is amazing but they treated us as tourists and not customers. Took our picture offering a post card and thought sure we get a postcard and they get free advertising, nope they gave me the bill for pizza and the pictures. I’m not paying for that when all I wanted was a nice dinner with my wife. Tourist trap and horrible for business! Your food is good please stop ruining it with crap like this.

Pizzeria Uno has a lengthy track record for appeasing the pizza cravings of Chicagoans and visitors alike. The famous Deep Dish pizza was conceived at this establishment and with this food invention, Pizzeria Uno is a magnet for pizza lovers. Uno is constantly flooded by customers queuing up in the lobby for one of the available 18 tables and pizza cooking time here is 45 minutes, as such, the quest for an Uno's Deep Dish is time consuming, but well worth the wait. The innards of Pizzeria Uno is cramped, dark and lacking in design. The pace of service is hamstrung by the small floor space and pizza cooking time. I ordered the Chicago Classic pizza and received a monstrous gala of sausage, mozzarella cheese and chunky tomato sauce. It was smooth and tantalizing with enough leftover for lunch tomorrow. So if you want a fill-up on Deep Dish pizza, can tolerate the wait time and would relish eating in an iconic restaurant...............then try Pizzeria Uno.......and Dig Deep.

Yuck! I love New York pizza, but had to try Chicago deep dish. It was gross. Service was poor, and the entire place felt dirty.

We visited the East Ohio location. Very busy so be prepared for a wait. However you can order your pizza pie whilst waiting as each pie is freshly made and takes around 45 mins to prepare. If you just have pizza and no appetiser a hungry couple can get through a medium size, otherwise stick to a small. Not like anything I've really had before. Different texture from a traditional pizza and more filling but delicious. Lots of topping. Would definitely recommend. Good to find a casual eaterie too that offers wine at reasonable prices - bottle chianti $21 plus tax. Service was also good.

Pizzeria Uno, Chicago — a legendary spot for deep-dish pizza lovers I visited the iconic Pizzeria Uno in Chicago — one of the very first places (if not the first) to serve the city’s famous deep-dish pizza. The history here is palpable: this is where it all began. The atmosphere is exactly what you’d expect from a classic Chicago pizzeria — warm, casual, and authentic. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the service is fast and attentive. The pizza itself is delicious, with a crispy crust, rich toppings, and perfectly melted cheese. If you’re in Chicago and want to experience real deep-dish pizza with a story behind it — this place is a must-visit.

It’s hard to say how the food is here, since my server wouldn’t let me order what I wanted. There were four people in our party and we wanted two different kinds of pizza. We tried to order two small pizzas. Our server demanded that we get one large pizza and divide the toppings among the two halves of the pie. The hill I will die on is that you cannot do this with pizza toppings because the flavors mix. As a result the pizza we had was nasty. And the waitress told me to smile no fewer than three times. If you want to be told what to order and what to do, maybe you’d enjoy this place more than I did.

If you are NOT expecting a pizza that even remotely can remember Italian pizza then you are in the right place. Otherwise turn your heels and go somewhere else because what you will eat you will not like!! Ridiculous mozzarella....Ridiculous tomato sauce.....pasta....raw....ridiculous!! Experience!!!! What else??

Deep dish pizza at its best! If you like think crust, with a lot of red sauce, cheese and meat (choices)...The best! The service is great and ask Sergio (bar tender) for an Irish coffee, with Bailey's and Jameson!

We went with my husband because we wanted to try traditional deep-dish pizza and eat somewhere with character. Unfortunately, the pizza was literally flavourless (a small Margherita). My husband’s pesto one was okay, but nothing special. The place itself has great character, which is the only reason I’m not rating it lower. If it were based on the pizza alone, it would be a poor+ at best. And for the prices they charge, it just isn’t justified.

My girlfriend and I stopped in here late night for pizza after a show at the Chicago Theater. We got seated quickly and ordered right away. We noticed this place had more of a "bar" feel because the tables were sat closer together and it was louder than other pizza places. We aren't bar people so we prefer more private and quieter seating. The pizza was very good though. We ordered a supreme pizza and ate it super fast. Again, the table was small so it was a bit of a struggle for us both to eat a big pizza. But, we made due and enjoyed it. It was walking distance to our hotel so we walked it off on the way home. We would likely come back next time in Chicago.

Host Christopher was the best!! He was very understanding to my partner a birthday and was looking for some good love and attention.. which Christopher provided wonderfully‼️

One of my top favorite Chicago deepdish pizza places. Great atmosphere, staff, and food. And a must because it's home of the original.

Pizzeria Uno is absolutely out of this world! So small inside but so worth the wait and crowd. You will never have a pizza like it!

So I like nostalgia when i travel. So this place was on my list to go to, to get deep dish. Well I have to say I have had better deep dish. It was great to see the original chicago deep dish. The service was amazing. Juan, was an amazing waiter and great drink maker. Ask for him. I understand it is covid, we did wait over an hour for our food. The pizza Uno we ordered was average. I was a little disappointed we waited that long for not a great pizza. I loved the experience and the people but the deep dish, no.

Pizzeria with the typical Chicago style. Could even eat outside. The hit was that you could also have the pizzas with half-half topping. Spinocolli/BBQ Chicken the absolute hit for us. Safe again when we get there.

Terrible service and attitude from waitress. The pizza was delicious but the waitress (Latin, Mexican I believe) has a really bad attitude, would make me not wanna come back since there are other places with better service like Lou Malnatis

This location is a must check out if you are a pizza fan. After working at an UNOs for years, I felt I should check it out. Overall? Kind of average. Our server didn't seem too attentive at first and it took a while for her to come over and get our drink order. It is important to note that it takes 40-45 mins for a pizza to come out! They do not par-bake their deep dish pizza dough, so be prepared to wait a while. Also, the dining area is very small, so i would not recommend large groups. There are a couple of booths that might fit 4 people or so as well as some small tables that can accommodate 2 people. For those fans of the "corporate UNOs", it is important to note that the menu here is very different from what you may have in your home town. They have some appetizers as well as basic pastas. Overall? I am glad we went here, but if we hadn't, I wouldn't have been that upset.

Very throwback neighborhood bar/restaurant ambiance and look - pizza was great as were the meatballs we ordered as sides

Great location, absolute tourist trap. Was not what I expected. Getting here was a challenge. The service was great! Food was meh, crust was hard and doughy. Sauce was mediocre. Expected a 10! deep dish, got a 3. Sorry but an experience to learn from. Paid 120$ for 1 large and one slice, 2 deserts. Food was not great.

First time on Chicago visit and tried famous deep dish at Uno and it was awesome, it took sometime to arrive but it was best pizza ever

Uno's is amazing. If you want to get the feel of old time, authentic deep dish pizza, then you really cant go anywhere else. It does take a while to get to you (30-40 minutes) so the pre-order may be best if you are in a hurry. If you are not in a hurry, then sit down and enjoy the ambiance of this amazing restaurant. Everything - I mean everything - is fresh made. Nothing is processed. The tomato sauce is handmade every day. The pepperoni is not greasy or oily. All the veggies are fresh. And the mozzarella.....amazing. So, so good. I would recommend anyone visiting Chicago to go here.

Before I went to Chicago, I asked a number of friends who had been there before for suggestions. One suggestion from a person who’s opinion I respect without question, was Pizzeria Uno. I knew there were a couple of Chicago Deep Dish Pizza spots that we needed to hit. They had us well fed and our drinks were great. When a huge rainstorm off Lake Michigan hit during dinner, they moved us inside from our seats on the patio. Great place great in every sense.

First night in Chicago, a block from our hotel, what's not to like. Arrived at this tiny pizzeria at about 7.30pm and managed to get a small table between the bar and the booths. Ordered a small special pizza (about $19) and a bottle of Ruffino Chianti Classico (about $20) and then managed to sneak in to a booth as someone left. We were told that the pizza would arrive in 45 minutes as they were all cooked fresh but, in fact, it came in 30. We don't claim to be the world's biggest eaters but the small did both of us with a piece to take home. Delicious and very unlike Italian pizza, the crust is more shortcrust. Good wine for the price and lots of people for atmosphere. There are tables outside if you come at a warmer time of year. There is a sister pizzeria, Pizzeria Due, nearby. Well worth a visit if you are in Chicago.

I really enjoyed their deep dish pizza, I thought the crust was the best and all together top notch, great service, friendly staff and a tasty personal Chicago deep dish pizza. What more could you want, go and enjoy.

Great traditional atmosphere. Service was cheerful and engaging. Food was excellent. My wife and I were staying only a block away so we dropped in one early afternoon. The setting is a classic neighborhood pizza joint that has been around awhile. Not tired or dated, just perfectly seasoned. The staff were outgoing and welcoming. They were very attentive throughout. I had a Caesar salad that was freshly made. Great taste. The wife also had a house salad that she loved. The classic deep dish pizza is the star in this place. As far as I’m concerned, there is no pizza debate. Deep dish wins and this deep dish is as good as you can get. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommended this place.

Wanted to taste a deep pizza. I found an excellent restaurant and very kind personell. I was alone but I was treated as regular customer and not put at the bar but had a table. Pizza is good but beware of the sizing, was uge and I was not prepared 😬 take the small one

We ate at several deep dish pizza joints while in Chicago and this was my favorite pizza. The crust was so tasty and tomatoes were very fresh!

I am shock of the attitude from Staff! We arrive with our baby and a stroller, we were informed we can not take the stroller inside as it’s very small. Once the pizza arrived , the table Next to us was not in use and was blocked by another three ladies so I asked again the waiter if we can get the stroller as baby was crying and we couldn’t eat! The waiter then shouted at me super abruptly and basically throw me out the restaurant saying I ll bring you a box to go! He said, the answer won’t change! They kept rushing us beforehand to eat and leave! The waiter was super scary and shouted really badly to me so I end up leaving in tears and waiting outside for my husband toe get our staff. I would not recommend the place, still On shock, destroyer our whole day! There is another pizzeria opposite called Duo, please go there! Here the hostess and the waiter and super rude , and not accommodating!

The iconic deep dish pizza is amazing! We came in early and ordered a medium deep dish cheese pizza. We did have a 45 minute wait (This is because we came in right when they opened, and they haven’t made any pizzas by this time in the morning, but there probably won’t be a wait in the middle of the day) , but the wait did end up being worth it.

Waitress was really rude and they have complicated menu with no all prices on it. They put that Soda juice is free refill, so you think that it is free, because there is no price in menu, but it's not. You pay approx 3 dollars for one drink, any later you don't pay for second. And all the menu was made to confuse tourists, so that you order more by accident (you think that you add for example beef meat on pizza), but they will bring you one more individual pizza, and will blame you that you ordered wrong, and did not tell them the right way. For example, they put that ingredient beef meat is approx 2 dollars, and you think that that is ingredient. In fact it is, you order that, but they will bring you individual pizza. That happened to us. And at the end, waitress was trying to cheat us by bringing two wrong bills, and when she figure out that we are comparing it to prices in menu, she bring second one, and that one was also wrong. So I showed to her, and she just bringed third one without saying sorry and she was enough rude to ask why is there no tip!!! Pizza was good, but they burned the crust, so spare your money and don't go here.

Rip off do not go. Ordered a pizza and bread. Gave a 20 tip.. waited bar guy here you go all there..rip off only pizza. There is another pizza place a block down round. Maybe if they rip off enough customers who complain they will change their ways

This is my husband's favorite deep dish pizza and he was not disappointed. Thankfully our wait was only 15 minutes. We were pleasantly surprised that the salads were so good. I had the spinach salad which had lots of bacon. My husband had the Caesar salad. Both were served with excellent house-made dressings

Excitement filled within me, as I was excited to try this place. I was hoping it would be worth it. A sign on the building stated PIZZERIA UNO®️ was a HISTORIC LANDMARK. It also stated it was the BIRTHPLACE OF THE ORIGINAL DEEP DISH PIZZA - 1943 - Ike Sewell invented Deep Dish Pizza in this building in 1943, which began a Deep Dish pizza revolution. My significant other and I walked inside and were told we could sit down anywhere at the bar. I was given a menu immediately. I looked at it to see what was offered. From the COCKTAILS section, we got a POMEGRANATE MARGARITA. It was Pomegranate splashed into a tequila con-noisseur’s favorite, Cuervo Silver, mixed with the sweetness of Cointreau and the tartness of lime. The server asked us if we wanted to have it rimmed with salt and we accepted. It was 12.99. From the DEEP DISH SPECIALTY PIZZAS section, I ordered an Ind. 14.99 NUMERO UNO®️. It stated Our first choice for the most delectable pizza! Extra cheese, an abundance of fresh sausage, just the right amount of pepperoni and fresh mushrooms, onions and green peppers. The HOT & COLD DRINKS section stated ALL SOFT DRINKS AND ICED TEAS…FREE CHICAGO REFILL. The SOFT DRINKS were 3.89. It stated We are proud to serve Pepsi®️ products. I went with a Diet Pepsi. The POMEGRANATE MARGARITA was fantastic. Every ingredient played perfectly off of each other. The NUMERO UNO®️ looked small upon arrival, but it was packed with ingredients and flavors, which made up for the size of it. I enjoyed every bite of it. The Diet Pepsi was good. The FREE CHICAGO REFILL was just as good. The service was alright. I expected it to be better. Overall, it was a decent spot to try. I wouldn’t be in a rush to go again. Date of visit: 05/06/25

I've never had deep-dish pizza, and we thought we're try it. The crust is almost a bread, but it's pretty tasty. Glad we tried it since we were in Chicago, but I prefer thin crust. We did take-out so I don't know how the service was, but the person who helped us was friendly.

Hello, Let me start by saying I am NOT a pizza lover, but i went with someone who is. Neither of us were fans. TIP you can preorder your pizza. Deep dish takes about 45 mins to cook so best to preorder. We had one with pepperoni and sausage. The sausage was ground sausage and was a thick layer. I got thru about 1/2 a slice and was done. My friend ate 2 slices and packed the rest to go. Where it sat in the fridge the rest of the week. At least we tried it!
A historic Chicago Deep Dish Pizza experience
While taking a break from shopping in the city...we wanted my God Son and his brother to experience Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. Location location location was on Pizzeria Uno's side as we saw their sign down the street. One quick Yelp check..and we walked in... We learned that this location was the orginal built in 1943 so there's tons of history in here. The dining is tight and cramped due to its age construction which makes it even cooler in a museum like way. Brick walls, wooden furniture from the 1940s is the vibe throughout. The main bar is showcased immediately upon entry. Our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu. He mentioned that the pizza would take 30 minutes to get to the table. We had no issue with this as we needed a rest and wanted to enjoy some cocktails. Shrimp & Crab Dip - Savory Calamari - Crispy and Fresh Caesar Salad - all good Large Uno Pizza - This deep dish pizza was very heavy and we enjoyed it. All the ingredients were fresh and the cheesey cheese was on point. The sauce wasn't as savory as I expected it to be. No issues. I had maybe unrealistically high expectations as this was a very good pizza. Overall, Pizzeria Uno did a good job. I would definitely visit again and grab some of their famous pizza when I'm in Chicago. Cheers!
