Excellent pizza

By Fcpeople |

Great pizza in a small intimate setting. The place is tiny so we shared a community table. Enjoyed roasted brussel sprouts and a nicely scorched Margerita pizza.

Fantastic!

By Aleielori |

Fantastic pizza in Philadelphia With many different beers to select. Absolutely reccomend this pizzeria.

Just OK Pizza and TERRIBLE service

By Julie S |

Pizza was just ok, as another reviewer pointed out the margarita pizza was very dry. Had to ask the servers for EVERYTHING, pizza came out but no plates, no refills on water, dessert came out and once again no plates, menus sat on the table through the ENTIRE meal. Place was not crowded so not sure where our server was. When she was around she had a very condescending attitude. No reason to go back.

Bcnot as good as it used to be

By urbangirl2015 |

We tried Pizzeria Vetri last week and this is the first time since they sold to Urban Outfitters- didn't seem the same as when Vetri owned it. The square pizza seems ordinary now - ok, not extraordinary.

Extremely Overpriced!

By jmgbar |

While the pizza was very good, it was so excessively priced I gave it only 3 stars. There is no need for waiters as well. You should be able to order at the counter and then it should be delivered like they do at the Taco restaurant next door. The chairs are extremely noisy when they scrape across the floors. For 2 pizzas and 2 glasses of wine it was well over $100 with tip--crazy!

Excellent Pizza!

By Brian G |

We stopped here because we read an article that said Pizzeria Ventri had some of the best pizza in the United States. I can't say that it was or wasn't the best in the United States but I can say the pizza is excellent! The crust is light and crispy, the sauce is very flavorful. We ordered two pizza's in the Napoletano size (serves 1-2 peeps). There were 3 of us and we ate all of both! One was the Margherita with Olives and the other was the Salsiccia (Fennel Sausage, roasted fennel, tomato sauce & Mozzarella). The restaurant is group seating, two long tables, counter seating by the pizza oven and counter seating in the front window. I would prefer small tables but I enjoyed the window counter seating. The service was quick and friendly. We were here around 3 pm so there weren't too many folks in the restaurant. The server was happy and seemed to enjoy her role. This is a good place to walk to after the Museum of Art, the Barnes Museum or the Rodin Museum.

Awesome pizza

By Traveller_123 |

Best pizza in town. Awesome ambience and the pizzas were so good. Kids loved the place. The crust is so good and service is awesome. Try the vege and margherita pizza.

Delicious pizza

By NCMom21 |

We sat at the pizza bar and watch them make our pizza. The chefs knew what they were doing and took pride in making each pizza. The seating area isn't too big, but the host did a great job of accommodating a lot of people at a busy time. Pizza is baked in a stone oven, cooked quick and had a great crispy bottom. Would definitely go back.

Perfect Lunch

By Amy D |

We stopped in for lunch after leaving the Franklin Institute on our way to the Eastern State Penitentiary. Friendly service and absolutely delicious pizza. Wish we would’ve had time to go back!

Limited But Good Menu Close to Art Museum And Barnes

By joanz359 |

I kept hearing how good this was and decided to try it for lunch after going to the Art Museum. One issue is parking which can be hard to get. There is a public parking lot across the street. We had the wood grilled salad which was excellent. The pizza is in two sizes the small (which we ordered ) had six pieces. We ordered the Crudo which was mozzarella and prosciutto. We were surprised how fast the salad came and the pizza followed almost immediately. We had the wine by the glass and spit a great soft serve gelatto a fiorlatte (close to vanilla). Before tip it was $56.00 (including tax). It was hot so we sat outside at communal picnic tables. The tables inside are also shared so not a romantic place or a place to discuss business. The menu is limited and there are daily specials.

My wife loved hers, mine was OK

By Jay P |

Have you ever wanted to like a restaurant? That is my situation with Pizzeria Vetri. We’d heard great things about this restaurant, visit the neighborhood regularly, and are always looking for great pizza (not an easy find). Usually, Pizzeria Vetri is pretty busy but as we were late for lunch/early for dinner, we got space at the bar facing the open windows to the street. The restaurant was a bit hot so these were great seats. Our server, “Dario M” (per the receipts) was great, explaining the menu in clear but also entertaining language. In fact, while I’m on the topic, my family would like to nominate Dario as the best servers we’ve ever encountered. So, staff was great. As this was our first visit, we each ordered different pizzas. There are two sizes of pizza, as explained clearly by Dario, with the smaller being enough for all but the larger appetites but not quite enough for two, normally hungry adults. My wife ordered the artichoke heart pizza with the addition of sausage (sorry to the vegetarians reading this). She decided that this was “one of the best pizzas,” she had ever eaten. I find the concept of artichoke hearts on pizzas a violation of the laws of nature so did not sample and cannot comment. I ordered the sausage and onion pizza which I found very disappointing. The sausage was sparse (1-2 pieces/slice, far less than on my wife’s pizza) and the onions stringy and poorly cooked. The crust was good, if not great, with the overall impact on my taste buds best described as: “so what?” My daughter chose the pepperoni pizza which I did try and was tasty. It was a little greasy with a bit of a pool left on the tray —a bit off-putting. With waters and two sodas, total cost $69.12 without a tip (Dario got a good tip, good pizza or not). So, would I go back? I will but next time will try the “create your own pizza.” As I said, the crust was good so maybe with the right combination of toppings?

Perfect pizza and more

By jeanne m |

Just luck that we ended up here after visiting the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. Quick walk over. The quality and taste of the food was exceptional. Pizza was wonderful Meatballs are the best. Great coffee and authentic Tiramisu. All that and great service.

Awesome meal

By lorraine |

Our server was Liam and is an amazing server. We had the sausage and fennel pizza. The crust is nice and thin with a nice light fresh sauce and then the toppings. Would highly recommend checking this location out. Restaurant was full with single business travellers, locals and tourists as couples and families and girls or guys night out.

Surprisingly mediocre pizza from Vetri

By Professor572 |

I consider Marc Vetri one of the best chefs in North America, and his flagship restaurant Vetri is my favorite place for serious celebrations. The pizza at Osteria is perhaps the best in the city. But on my recent visit to Pizzeria Vetri i was surprised by the consistently soggy crusts and by cheese that came out of the oven cold. By cold I don't mean room temperature. I mean cold. Salad was good. Concept was good. But the actual pizzas were disappointing. Back to Osteria? Back to takeout from Mix or Slice?

Excellent Pizza

By Ambrose F |

We had great service, Our waitress gave us some great recommendations on Pizzas. The orange and lemoncello is a must have. It is also home made.

Just perfect

By Jessica B |

The pizza are just perfect... seems big when arrived but we have eaten all. And for dessert, pizza marshmallows nutella... amazing !

Friendly service, reasonable prices

By Timothy E |

This appears to be a small family owned business that mainly serves pizza, salads and beer. The pizza was good although I have had better. But, the prices were such that I think it presents a good value. The seating it limited and consists of long picnic style tables and you may share a table with others, but we did not feel crowded at all while we were there. Two pizzas, a very good shared salad, two beers, with tax, and a good tip only came to $60 and in this town that is pretty reasonable.

Excellent pizza!

By Catherine C |

Shared the Crudo pizza with a friend & it was outstanding! One of the very best pizzas I've ever had.

Great Pizza Place!

By Morgan P |

My friend and I came in pretty hungry and happened to discover this restaurant by chance — and we’re so glad we did. It was Restaurant Week, so we decided to try the three-course menu, which turned out to be an excellent choice. Every dish was delicious, and the pizza was a standout favorite. The portion sizes were very generous, so I’d definitely recommend sharing or planning to take leftovers home. Overall, a great find and a really satisfying meal.

Great pizza!

By Natasha Cotti |

I had the margherita pizza. It was delicious! Wish there was more cheese but otherwise, excellent!!! Perfect location, right next to my hotel too!

The perfect end to a visit to the Barnes Foundation

By delp0rt |

So we have been going to Vetri since the Barnes Foundation opened. We are creatures of habit. We get the arugula salad, the pepperoni pizza and add sausage and the crudo pizza... And then an affagatto for dessert... time in a time out... why the repetition? Well we crave it something fierce in-between visits. You cannot fully describe how wonderful this pizza is. 9 to of 10 times it is like a religious experience... the 10th time is better! Ha Ha! in the several dozen times we have gone on occasion the center of the pizza has been a little soft, but well cooked... we load the pizza with toppings and that may be the reason, but my mouth is seriously watering writing this. Go!

GREAT PIZZA!!!!

By George H |

OMG. Mind blowing awesome pizza. Some oft he best pizza that we have ever had to say the least. Easy to find and only a block away from the Barns Museum. We highly recommend.

Great pizza ... Small restaurant

By Joel K |

This neighborhood pizza gem is good. They could use some extra hygiene in preparation. We were right up on the preparers of the pizza. They are hard working however and make good pizzas. We had two pizzas - a shroom and a margherita. we also had two caesar salads. Our son, grandchildren and us ate great and had a ringside seat. they also had a cannoli and soft serve cup. Service was good, helpful, and friendly.

Delicious pizza but no seating

By gckpost30 |

Very small restaurant with communal tables seating for like 50 max. We waited about 20 mins to sit. Staff was pleasant - rushing a bit but with gobs of ppl standing over you - completely understandable. Pizza was really good - especially the rotolo with pesto pistacchio. We have eaten a lot of gourmet pizzas and we ranked this pretty high. Be prepared to wait. We went at 5 on a Saturday and it was packed. Not from Philly so not sure if they have better times when it's not crowded.

Great lunch stop

By MyZiggyMan |

We stopped here for lunch between museums, and are happy we did. We split a Caesar salad and a pepperoni pizza. Very tasty. Enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Fresh Ingredients for a $15+ Pizza

By speedangel109 |

Pizza was excellent. Dough and toppings were crisp and fresh. Price is HIGH for Pizza. Staff was pleasant.

High End Pizza for a Common End Occasion

By Bob H |

We went there for lunch as a prelude to visiting the Franklin Institute with our granddaughter age 7. The occasion was all about her. It’s a Vetri restaurant so you should not expect ordinary pizza. The menu includes lots of innovative choices, and everyone should find at least one that intrigues them. Our party of five ordered three of the 1-2 offerings. It was plenty for lunch. Their thin crust pies are cooked in a hot wood oven, and come out with wonderful charred crusts. Your happiness with a specific pie depends on what you ordered, but overall at least a couple of the available choices should resonate with anyone. To me, these are a lunch snack, not a complete meal, and so are perfect for visiting the cultural attractions nearby (especially the Barnes). They won’t replace my usual dinner pizzas, but are definitely the way to go for a midday repast. BTW, our 7 yo granddaughter loved them!

Lunch at Pizzeria Vetri

By Nick L |

The service was super nice and very fast. We had the pepperoni pizza and arugula salad and they were delicious! They use a real wood burning oven, too.

IT'S THE CRUST, THE CRUST AND NOTHING BUT THE CRUST!

By BCM1225 |

We met our son here before touring the Barnes. Ordered the Arugula salad, the perreroni pizza and the Prosciutto Calzone. All were great but there is something about the crust that made it special The pizza and the calzone were both loaded with meat and were among the best we've ever eaten. Our son finished lunch with a cannoli and I got one after the museum tour. MOST ENJOYABLE!!

BEST pizza

By rosannemistretta |

Love the fennel, sausage pizza especially. Crust, sauce, everything is good here. Vetri Pizza is the best!

Amazing Staff and Food

By Destination790459 |

In April 2021, my family and I were visiting Philadelphia from MA. This restaurant was so good for lunch we decided to try a second location for dinner another night and we were just as impressed. The staff in both locations were so incredibly friendly. My son randomly asked if he could have pizza dough to play with and in each location they gave it to him. Even with limited seating due to COVID, we were never rushed. The pizza and salads are so delicious, I really wish they had locations in MA.

Good Italian pizza

By Amanda V |

Actual wood oven made pizza. The crust was thin and crispy and the toppings were fresh and delicious. The place itself has a fairly chilled atmosphere

Best pizza ever had

By 96Karen |

We had a cheese and a pepperoni pizza. Both were fantastic. Crispy crust and good sauce. Quality was the highest, as was the price. Really expensive, like about $40 for lunch for 2, but believe it or not worth it.

YUMMY!!!!

By AmberB460 |

This spot is the perfect location if your wondering the museums in the city. It is easy to access and so totally delicious!

Yummy

By klmaestra |

Delicious pizza today at Pizzeria Vetri for lunch. We arrived just before noon so no problem finding a seat. Other reviews mentioned ordering in the front but everyone today had full waitress service. You can watch the pizzas being made and cooking from any seat inside. The large margherita came piping hot from the oven. Looked way too large for the two of us. Guess what? So crunchy and delicious- there was not a bite left. Live in the DC area and look forward to trying the new location in our area when it opens.

Very Good food but poor food handling practices

By kholmes509 |

We sat at the counter, right next to the pizza prep area. The food was delicious, we had a Marguerite pizza and Caesar salad, The pistachio cannoli was also to die for! However..... I could not help but observe the chef not washing his hands the whole hour + we were there! This was alarming to me , especially since I watched as he handled raw sausage with his bare hands, then proceeded to other tasks without washing his hands, particularly the basil leaf topping on the pizza which is not cooked after it is sprinkled on the pizza. This is a serious concern regarding the spread of food borne illness due to cross contamination of raw uncooked meat to fresh ready to eat greens. Please wash your hands!

Taste of Italy

By maurypass |

As Italian I'm very picky where i go and I can tell that pizzeria Vetri truly embrace the awesome tastes we have in Italy, suggested

Delicious lunch near museums

By juliaoleary |

Stopped here for Friday lunch before going to the art museum and we were blown away. We ordered the margarita pizza and absolutely devoured it. My one quip is that there isn't a "medium" size - we could have eaten more than the smaller size, but I'm not sure we could have finished the larger size. We did not have to wait for a table though the place was pretty busy. Service was good and the food came fast.

Good Pizza place with excellent service.

By Sonny J. |

Was visiting Philadelphia this past Saturday (09/29) and across the street from the hotel that we were staying in was Pizzeria Vetri. Went for lunch with family and what a nice surprise. Nice greeting at the door and excellent service. Place is clean and pizza was just right, well done, excellent ingredients which made it just taste so good. You can sit at a table or sit at the counter where you can watch the pizza maker make your pie. Our server who's name I did not get was very helpful with making our choices. We all enjoyed our pizza and the atmosphere at Pizzeria Vetri. John G. Lewes, Delaware

Wood Fired Marinara Pizza

By Blake A |

Stopped in to get a takeout marinara pizza for dinner. Pizza was thin crust and wood fired and I enjoyed every bite of it. Although I didn't eat in, the place is small and cramped but everyone seemed to be having a good time. The service was very fast and friendly.

Excellent and worthwhile

By Jim K |

You will be pleased with this choice. Small, custom crafted artisan pizza. We had several and each was uniquely wonderful. Excellent and worthwhile.

What happened?

By PChocolat |

What is going on? This place is a shadow of its former self. People are still great. Oven is still great. What happened to the food? Oh! I know! You dropped half the menu! Smart!

Our first Neapolitan style pizza

By Mark M |

After a few hours at the nearby Barnes Foundation, we were ready for lunch, and we had to have Philadelphia pizza. Bingo! Pizzeria Vetri was close, plus it had good reviews.

Great casual pizzeria in Rittenhouse

By ACTraveler A |

Great quality pizza. But again it's Vetri! Melazana and Pepperoni pizza were delicious. We sat at the bar. Our server and bartender Claire was attentive and pleasant. Cool vibe and nice ambience. Ideal for hanging out with friends or going on a date. Located in the heart of Philly center city. They have limited selection of wines- I tried the red (poggio anima) and it was decent. Highly recommend for a casual night out.

Poor management and bad pizza

By Mr.Yupiii |

I visited Pizzeria Vetri to order a pizza on the go. The staff were very friendly. I asked for Shroom pizza with extra toppings. I then asked if I could swap the baby onion with pepper. The server Sasha A confirmed that I could swap toppings. I paid for the pizza and waited for it to be cooked. I checked my receipt to then find out that Sasha has charged me for pepper and removed onion instead of swapping it. I went to check if that was an error and Sasha asked me to wait for the manager to see if they can help with this matter. The manager with glasses and a baseball cap (apparently his name was guiseppe) asked if I need help. I explained the situation but Guiseppe didn’t seem to pay attention to what I explained. I repeated myself again and explained the matter. Guiseppe informed me that if I asked for pepper then I have to pay for it. This was clearly not what I explained. Guiseppe failed to understand that his staff explained to me that I can swap the topping. It’s not about whether I need to pay for it or not. Instead of containing the matter, Guiseppe offered to remove the pepper which is not the point. I gave up at this point and said to him not to worry. Guiseppe said to me that this is company policy. But this was not communicated to be by staff when I asked. I believe Guiseppe needs more managerial training as this is not the way to treat customers. $3 extra charge for the pepper is not going to break the bank but he could have apologised and offered to raise it with his staff to let them know this is not possible. I went back to my hotel and tried the pizza and I have to say that this is the second worst pizza I’ve had in my life. Not because of what happened but generally it is not tasty. I don’t usually write reviews but this experience and the way the matter was handled (by a manager) made me feel that this restaurant doesn’t really take their customers seriously. I hope this gets fixed.

Pizza Maniacs

By Allen P |

The staff here are the hardest working people in the pizza business! They are literally dashing about to make sure that you are served in the shortest possible time. Fortunately, the food is as good as the service! TIP: You can park right across the street for a few dollars.

Outstanding Brick Oven Pizza

By GooseCowboy |

I love their thin crust pizza. I come here all the time. I can be eating a fresh brick oven pizza in 5 minutes after sitting down. There are many delicious healthy choices. Service is great.

Ok pizza, but at more than ok pizza price

By JW-relaxed-traveller |

Don’t know if we caught Pizzeria Vetri on an off night, but was hoping to be more impressed than we were. Staff was mostly helpful, hostess smiled when we smiled, pizza was good, but priced at a “real good pizza price.” All in all, it was ok.

Interesting Pizza, Great rotolo

By Kenyon1972 |

The rotolo was the highlight of the meal. Great flavors and textures. The crudo pizza was good, but oddly the mozzarella was cool, like it had not been in the oven. Loved the crust on the pizza. We sat at the counter and watched the pizzas being prepared and cooked, which was a lot of fun. The place is something special - very convenient to Franklin Parkway.

Great Back-Alley Pizza Joint

By Elias M. |

We found Pizzaria Vetri on a Philadelphia magazine site where it is rated in the top 10 and rightly so. Getting there for tourist, (like us) can be daunting. Chancellor Street is little more than a back ally but the pizza and service is more than worth the effort. Big and open with long picnic tables and a decent-sized bar, Pizzaria Vetri is easy to get into. My Mrs. LOVES the classic hip-hop soundtrack. Caleb our server was fun and engaging. If he upsold us a bit on the pizza, I have no real complaint as the leftovers are EXCELLENT for breakfast. Hand tossed, the pizzas are offered in 16” rounds and platter-length longs. We ordered before seeing this and ended up with a platter of pizza. Again, the pizza is PHENOMINAL. We had the pepperoni but Pizzaria Vetri offers everything from a classic Margarita to sausage. Sidenote: the calzones look WONDERFUL as does the chopped salad. There is a good selection of beer, liquor, and soft drinks. I cannot recommend Pizzaria Vetri highly enough. We will probably go back tonight.

Amazing meal!

By sk888888 |

Went with friends after seeing the Terra Cotta Warriors exhibit at Franklin Institute. Wow. Had a calzone, friends shared a pizza, everything was terrific. Nice atmosphere too, and pretty good selection of beers.

Pizza blogger

By World Traveler |

I take my nephews out for pizza every week and one of them is a blogger. We have been to over 50 different pizza places in the area, and Vetri was not in our top 10. The pizza wasn't anything special. It was good, but it was no better than places cooking pizzas similarly - and worse than a few. Maybe we went on a bad day.

Nice spot - Nice pizza!

By Philly-In-Durham |

I was the FIRST customer of the day. They almost missed me. I tried to order a specialty pizza, not on the menu, but that was not possible. I just got a standard pizza margherita (basil, fresh mozzarella and sauce. I saw this restaurant while on Philly.com, and it was listed as one of the est in the city, if not one of the best in the NATION, so i had t go try a pie. The crust was great, the sauce was tasty. it was as good as advertised. The only issue was the Caesar salad, which was limp and very salty, to be the first of the day. i let them know and they promptly dropped it from my bill.

Delicious!

By jb_travels66 |

This was the perfect way to finish our museum outing. The pizza was delicious, with wonderful crust, and we loved the roasted vegetable salad. Friendly service. Limited seating, so keep that in mind when you visit.

This place strives for excellence.

By Big Zuck |

This weekend my wife and I took a short trip from Manhattan to Philadelphia. We went to see the Barnes and afterward happened upon Pizzeria Vetri. We sat at the counter and split a most delicious margherita with sausage. The service was terrific and the pizza tasted of the wood fire and excellent sauce, cheese and sausage among the other ingredients. What was really terrific was watching the three people behind the counter doing the cooking. These people all were amazing in that they worked both very steadily AND very smart. They kept their stations immaculate and restocked everything frequently...I totally enjoyed watching them. What I found above and beyond was watching them decide whether a pizza that evidently had been left in the oven less than a minute too long was to be served. To me, and I have a whole lot of experience with food, the pizza looked perfect if well cooked. They quickly decided that it didn't meet their standards, threw it away, and made a new one. I get to go to a lot of restaurants, but this was the first time I've seen that happen in a pizza kitchen. Kudos to the staff at Pizzeria Vetri!

Best pizza in Philly

By tongotuesday |

Our favorites are the eggplant and the fennel sausage pizza. They have a good wine list and great salads . Pizza is great the next day with an egg on top!

Sad, sad, sad...

By PChocolat |

We have eaten a lot of pizza at Pizzeria Vetri. 4 times in the past 3 months. 12 times since being sold by Vetri. This is the first time the service wasn't good. And the restaurant wasn't crowded with unruly Barnes fanatics. It wasn't even crowded. We got seated right away. But everybody was grumpy and at the end of their ropes... Pizza is good still. It just wasn't fun to feel like we were a burden to the staff.

Thin crust excellence

By Brit E |

Well rounded menu with very good salads, diverse beer and wine selections and well prepared pies with great toppings that are not belly busters. Service was attentive.

I like it, not enough meat options for my husband

By urbangirl2015 |

The square pizza is great. Super light - its like pizza and croissant had a baby! Their salads are good. My husband didn't like that they don't have more meat options for pizza. Eat in! Take out isnt the same crispiness! Watch the guys make the pizza at the bar.

Fresh ingredients- authentic food-10/10

By Rachelle212 |

Amazing heirloom pizza plus pepperoni. The service is outstanding. That food is so so good. Fresh ingredients. I have a super sensitive stomach and this place passed the test. We were just really impressed.

Good for light dinner

By kc1wong |

Went here after visiting Barnes Foundation Museum. Good light Neapolitan pizza (had a hard time figuring out which had meat though). the Salsiccia was better than I expected (not too "fennel-ly" even though 2 of the ingredients included fennel). Pepperoni pizza did look good. Wood Oven Salad was very good. The soft serve ice cream was very good - found out later how good when we wanted to find ice cream, and people were recommending this place for ice cream to our surprise!) Go early - it gets busy fast. It has community tables as well as individual, but the place is pretty small. A little pricey, but it was good food.

Horrible Customer Service

By CarribeanDave |

Do NOT do yourself the disservice of ordering from this place. Their customer service is garbage. They use a third party delivery service and once the order leaves their store they take no responsibility for it if something goes wrong. In my case I specifically requested they hand my order to me. This didnt happen. Instead they left my order at the front desk of my building and left. When we got it we saw that they sent us someone else’s order. Not only were they unwilling to send us our correct order, they were unwilling to do anything about it at all and even gave me attitude when I called to see what could be done. I realize that we live in a world where good customer service is disappearing but these people flat out just didnt care. They have so many customers that one individual customer just doesnt matter to them. Never go back.

Tasty thin crust pizza

By Beth S |

First time at this restaurant. Thin crust pizza with toppings to your liking. Food choices available for those seeking gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. Helpful staff to explain entrees and tend to customers. Fun to watch pizzas being made. Would eat here again when in town.

Try the Rotollo

By Vjayers |

We went after visiting the art museum. The pizza is tasty, but the Rotollo appetizer is mind-blowing. One of the best things I've ever eaten!

Super yummy Pizza

By Juliet F |

We went on a cold January night - the pizza is EXCELLENT - the eggplant is very good. Great rotating wine on tap and I also highly recommend the meatballs! Great for families!

Only the staff is better than the pizza

By Grey C |

Located close by the Philadelphia Museum and Barnes Foundation mad this the perfect place for a quick lunch before visiting. We were delighted but the courteous and prompt service and very pleased by the selections offered. The wood fired oven gave just the right taste for super pie. The Caesar salad actually had anchovies in it and since the house wine was unknown to me, they offered a sample which worked very well. Everyone and every dish were terrific.

If you know pizza you will enjoy this place

By daniela79rosero |

The place is usually crowded because it is really good. Prices are a bit high but totally worth it to have good pizza. Ingredients variety was perfect for vegetarian or not, and the freshness was everything! Highly recommended.

Awesoommme Pizza!

By CharltonDon |

Saw a list ranking Vetri among the best pizza places in the US. Decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint. Quaint place very nice staff. Gives Stella a run for their money as best place in Philly inn my opinion.

Great Pizza

By saturdaydiner |

My wife and I shared a sausage with fennel pizza and it was excellent! Just a bit doughy but still with enough crispness and great, tasty fresh ingredients. Clean with good quick service for lunch left us both very pleased.

Underwhelmed

By Chelssjh |

Came here with friends and found it very noisy and limited food options for those with dietary restrictions (gluten-free or vegan).

Great thin crust pizza,

By Romain L |

Family lunch, the place was packed and the ambiance is nice. The pizzas are really tasty, original ones such as the Peck one. Delicious. Very fast order to delivery. Highly recommended. Enjoy.

We order all the time

By André C |

one of the best pizzas in Philly. We order all the time when we have friends over. Its still not a brazilian pizza but its very good!

Unimpressed Pizza

By larryderm |

The pizza was small and unimaginative, as opposed to the salad which was skimpy and equally strange. The pizza was near cold, but this could be Caviar's problem. Not worth a second try

Unimpressed

By jpsjamdg |

Went here hoping for a good meal as I have enjoyed other Vetri restaurants. Service was minimal and the food overpriced and underwhelming. I did enjoy sitting outside but definitely would make a different choice next time.

Need some pizza

By Stewart C |

First time visit. Very open to the street, lots of seating. Sit near the oven, or find a family type table. Got a pizza and a calzone. Pizza was very good, calzone even better. Service a bit slow, but friendly. We were given a complimentary pizza, because it took so long to get the first one. Worth a try, if you want a different pizza experience.

Good pizza

By sararefaeli |

One of the best pizzas in this part of Philadelphia. The crust in thin and very tasteful. You have a good variety to choose from. the dinning room is very pleasent

Really really good. Very friendly.

By YX_657 |

Our visit was fantastic. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful. We ordered 2 Rotolos (which was superb), a Quattro Formaggi, a Crudo and a Nutella pizza. The two savory pizzas were white pizzas meaning there isn't any tomato sauce. Though at first thought it could be very plain, the simplicity of it was outstanding. All the flavors came through. For dessert, we ordered a Nutella Pizza to give it a shot. It was taking some time (not that long if I'm honest), so they gave us a complementary homemade strawberry sorbet and they paid for the Nutella pizza! They were really nice about it. The customer service and food was excellent. Will definitely come back again.

Awesome

By Mridul P |

Nice place and Pizzas are awesome .. one of the best that we ever had . It was busy as expected at the time of the day .. we loved it .. worth it

Excellent!

By Shannon K |

We were wandering around trying to find a bar that wasn't standing room only and we stumbled upon pizzeria vetri. We sat at the bar, ordered a few beers and a pizza and everything was excellent!

Delizzious

By Thomas G |

Hungry after a long day eating light while seeing area sights, walked there delighted to see some outdoor seating and a nice ambience. Ordered the Caesar and appetizer both surprising and delicious. Pizza and a calzone split were more than enough food and again delightfully different and tasty! The crust was nicely crisp and a perfect vehicle for the toppings. Tried a couple cocktails including elderberry basil lemonade, that had to be repeated. Strong recommend all around. Good service as well.

Great Stop for Lunch!

By sharirobyn |

Trying to avoid the uninteresting cafes in the museums, my daughter and I fell upon Pizzeria Vetri and were VERY happy! The arugula salad with potatoes, parmesan and pesto was perfectly balanced and delicious (one suggestion: use pitted olives - no one wants to spit out olive pits while eating salad.) But it was still super delicious! And the margherita pizza was equally delicious! Light, flaky and crispy crust, flavorful sauce and mozzarella cheese that didn't leave pools of grease on your pizza, all cooked to perfection in a brick oven made this one swell pizza. :) And all reasonably priced. Worth a stop when doing the museum trail.

Shot in the dark from Seri

Just arrived tired and hungry for our first visit to Philadelphia. Good food, great service, rockn pepperoni, fresh salads and some fun menu items. Glad we found it.

Excellent pizza

By LikeItActive |

The pizza was excellent. There were 4 of us, and we shared sliced from 2 pizzas. We also purchased 2 salads. The salads are on the smallish side and we should have split 3 salads among the 4 of us. The beer selection is just "okay".

Really good pizza with excellent service

By John C |

For someone who lives in Italy, I have to say this is some of the best pizza I have tasted outside of Rome. The service is good and so is the wine. The salads are also very good and shared as an entré they are delicious.

Just Falls Short

By bayonnebrawler |

Small industrial space with the Urban Outfitter vibe just falls short of being a good pizza spot. Service was efficient but curt, the pie itself had a nice char on the outside crust but was a bit soggy not what I expect in a brick-oven thin crust pie. The Marinara had the beginnings of a great sauce but a bit under seasoned. The Salsicca was a beautiful pie to look at but again the flavor of roasted fennel did not come through. This place just misses.

Nice prepared pizza and Caesar salad

By Joel K |

We went in for a Caesar salad and a small Mushroom pizza. The pizza was delicious and tasty. The Caesar salad was also freshly prepared with anchovies, croutons, parmesan and fresh romaine lettuce. We sat on the patio outside. Service was good and attentive.

Good place, unwelcoming service

By Claudio M |

Good quality of the product and climate inside the premises. We wanted to continue consuming and they gave us the bill without asking for it.

All delicious!

By trekker27nyc |

It's a small place with amazing pizza! Well worth a visit if your near. We went just after lunchtime and there were a few tables available.

Get the ‘Shroom!!!

By Heidi_loves_travel |

This was a convenient meal after visiting the art museums. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! The shroom pizza was so good that even my teens were a little envious of my meal. It was fun to watch them make the pizzas, too. Highly recommend.

Very good wood fired pizza

By Leslie S |

Quite good pizza with blistered thin crust. I prefer the simpler toppings. Communal seating. Located very near free library and museum, so if I am going to a library function, I make sure to go here, too. We've always been able to find street ( meter) parking. Salads are interesting but small and a bit pricey.

Very good

By L0ve2travel0ften |

Convenient to the museum area and it's good place for a cheap lunch or dinner. A place line this is welcome in the area. Very good pizza, but limited menu. Can be crowded & noisy.

I Expected More...

By Cait |

Are we just expecting everything Marc Vetri does to be so good, that when it's not outstandingly superb, we think it's bad? I am reckoning with this as I write this review. Vetri is not meant to be an incredible, life changing pizza experience - it's meant to be a money making operation. It seems to be doing that quite well. But for the customer, if you're serious about good pizza, I wouldn't go here unless it is extremely convenient - and I'd only get the rosemary/white pizza. Looking for this style of pizza but better? Check out Bufad.

Great pizza!

By L0ve2travel0ften |

Great pizza with a very thin crust. It's a small place with a small menu, but good for a fast lunch.

Great place and great service

By Indira A. |

Great place to get a pizza. Ingredients are made fresh and the taste of the pizza was amazing. My son got a calzone and it was similar to the ones you get in Italy.

Try the Unique “Rotolo”!

By fluffnfold |

My spouse and I stopped at the Art Museum location of Pizzeria Vetri for drinks and snacks on a Saturday afternoon in late June 2017. The restaurant is open daily for lunch, dinner, drinks, and snacks and accepts walk-in customers. Some limited (paid) street parking is available in front of the restaurant. The Vetri Family restaurant group operates Pizzeria Vetri, along with other Philadelphia restaurants including Alla Spina, Osteria, Vetri, Amis, and Bar Amis (previously called Lo Speido). Pizzeria Vetri offers additional locations in Rittenhouse Square, King of Prussia, and Washington DC. (We previously dined at Vetri in December 2011; see our review titled “Excellent Special Occasion Spot!”, and at Bar Amis at the Navy Yard in July 2017; see our review titled “Sit on the Outdoor Patio and Enjoy the Wood-Fired Aroma”.) Since 2015, the Vetri restaurants have operated under the umbrella of retail giant Urban Outfitters (which also owns Free People, Anthropologie, BHLDN [Beholden] online bridal shop, and Terrain Cafe). Pizzeria Vetri is located in the “art museum” neighborhood of Philadelphia just across the street from the Barnes Foundation. (In fact, we stopped at this conveniently located restaurant to pass the time when we arrived early for our reservation admittance time at Barnes.) The restaurant is located on the street level of the Granary Luxury Apartments building near the corner of Callowhill Street and North 20th Street. (Other restaurant tenants in the same building include Le Pain Quotidien and Buena Onda Tacos.) The focal point of the Pizzeria Vetri interior is the marble-topped pizza bar in front of the wood-fired oven (the kitchen is completely open and part of the dining space). You can choose to sit at the chef’s bar, at one of two long communal tables (which look like they can be broken into smaller segments), or at a narrow counter against the far wall or the front window. The interior restaurant space seats about 30 total customers, and sidewalk provides additional space. Indoors, the room features high ceilings, white subway tile, and framed Napolitano photographs. Pizzeria Vetri offers Italian cuisine, although pizzas are their specialty. (It takes 3 days to make/raise their dough, yet only 3 minutes to cook it in their 650-degree oven!) Because we had dined elsewhere earlier in the day, we visited for drinks and a snack only. We shared the amazing “rotolo”, a pinwheel of dough stuffed with ricotta and mortadella, then topped with a savory olive oil-pistachio pesto. The rotolo was a complete surprise because we did not know what to expect, and it was really delicious! We also sampled the cannoli; the crispy shell was filled with a unique citrusy-chocolate flavored cream and then dipped in crushed pistachios on each end. (We had originally ordered some soft-serve, but our waiter informed us that the machine was out of order. Later, toward the end of our visit, when he found that the machine was working, he offered us a complimentary serving, although we did not have the time or room.) Pizzeria Vetri has a liquor license; however, it offers only a service bar), not a bar where you can sit and imbibe, unless you want to sit at the interesting pizza counter. Pizzeria Vetri is a great lunch or snack choice when visiting the art museums. Be sure to try the “Rotolo”!

Fantastic pizza, good beer selection for such a small place. There is communal seating which did not bother me. Great place!

Amazing and quick pizza

By TheFelkers |

Staff was friendly - I was traveling alone and felt very well attended to. Pizza was fantastic (I got the mozzarella and prosciutto) and only waited maybe 10 minutes until it was ready.

Best pizza west of Napoli, Italia

By correspondent |

Incredibly authentic Italian pizza - better than any pizza I’ve eaten outside Napoli, Italy Mushroom pizza was outstanding and don’t miss Nutella pizza for dessert

Ask for Keenon

By Raushan R |

I was a guest at this location last night with family. Our waiter, Keenon (sorry if I spelled your name wrong bro) was the best. He was honest with his recommendations and took good care of us. We originally sat outside but it began to rain. Keenon quickly whisked us to an inside table, even though the restaurant was incredibly busy. I recommend the small Fennel Sausage pizza (I think the small pizzas cook better) and my wife enjoyed the “limon chello” beverage. Ask for Keenon!

Nice

By Effy108 |

Pizza was good (though olive oil made it a bit soggy), arugula salad was outstanding, nice service, nice atmosphere - except the music was loud and horrible. I suppose if they are trying to attack hipsters and rappers it's fine but might I suggest that during "business lunch" time they play something less distracting. When I asked the server about it she responded "we aren't aloud to touch it." What's that about?????

Excellent staff and terrific food!

By Cris W |

The staff was very helpful. Food arrived quickly. The pizza is cooked in a brick oven. Tastes amazing! Crudo pizza was the best. Definitely would go back

Don't miss this pizzería!

By Rebecca T |

Excellent pizza with just the right combination of crispy and chewy crust. Delicious toppings and mozzarella.

The best pizza in the past

By 4Horseman |

I understand the sellout. I support the sellout. I am just bummed that the food quality takes a hit. PV is now the 5 Guys of pizza. Not bad, better than most, but just a franchise.

Good pizza, low value

By RatherBatthebeach |

The pizza is good. But I was disappointed after hearing so much about Vetri's pizzas over the years. The combinations weren't terribly interesting.

Real gem across from the Barnes Foundation Museum

By Bobbi G |

Strongly recommended by Barnes Museum personnel. across the street from the Barnes at 20th and Pennsylvania Ave/Benjamin Franklin Pkwy. Small, casual friendly restaurant. Dario, Victor and Becca were serving us during our visit. Leave room for dessert - even chocolate marshmellow pizza. They have beer and wine on tap along with a list. Reasonably prices, quick service and fun. Tables outside during nice weather. Eat-in or take out. We all had a cannoli ($3.50 ea) and could have eaten a few more as they were fabulous and fresh. 10 different pizzas, salads, calzones and desserts. Will go back whenever I get to Philly.

Delicious pizza, innovative salads in a casual place right in the museum neighborhood.

By Susan S |

the place has a few long tables that are shared as well a bar stool type counter seats--so this is not a romantic, cozy date night spot. But the atmosphere is very friendly and clean and the food is delicious. I had a roasted vegetable salad and it was excellent. Friends had pizza. There is a wide selection of thin crust pizza and specials every day. Plus the house made sparkling water is freely flowing to patrons.

Too much hype...not enough Pizza

By gjmstarman |

Just another example of over rated "hipster" commercialism. There was just not enough cheese and toppings to warrant this overpriced disappointment of a pizza. With so many other choices in Philly for Pizza don't even bother with this place.

Great Lunch

By _VictoriaRob88 |

This was my third visit to Pizzeria Vetri and definitely the visit with the best service. Everyone loved their lunch and had a wonderful time. Server had good knowledge of the menu and seasonal adjustments. Allergy friendly. The seating area is “community seating” and there is music playing but we had no problem with seating or holding conversation.

Excellent salad, very good pizza and excellent service

By xcsk |

I highly recommend the arugula salad which all four of us, including people who usually do not like salads, truly enjoyed. The pizza was quite good and the service was excellent. This restaurant is near the Barnes Foundation and Rodin museum and convenient to both.

Yum. Chancellor st location

By nycmom22 |

We found by chance. Nice staff. Good salad. Calzones are what other calzones wish they could be. This is his Shake Shack designed to cover the country. A more casual Marta by Danny Meyer in NY

Excellent pizza and friendly service

By TrippettF |

My wife and daughter and I wandered over to Pizzeria Vetri from our hotel during a Philadelphia visit to the Barnes Foundation. Recommended by a friend, the Vetri was a friendly, welcoming venue serving excellent pizza. No pasta! Great find for us visitors.

Quality Pizza

By Moeti |

Delicious pizza with lots of options. The salads are also superb. You can eat inside or outside, but it was hot outside that day. They have different drink options as well. I never regret going to Vetri for pizza. Always delicious.

Authentic Italian Pizza in Philadelphia

By antoniopedro64 |

The Crudo pizza, while simple, makes the most of its 3 ingredients. High quality prosciutto, mozarella di buffala and parmegian with a drizzle of olive oil make a pizza so good you won't miss the tomato sauce. The spot has a nice and friendly vibe, boosted by the long family style tables. Service was very quick.

Amazing pizza and salad

By Jasmin G |

This is really a great place for wood fired pizza lovers. All the ingredients are tasty and super fresh, the pizza crust is crunchy and you must try the vegetables salad, wow totally amazing. A must go in downtown Philadelphia, a now mandatory stop for us.

Great price but food could have been better

By Stefan |

We went during happy hour and the pizza was only $7, bargain! Pizza lacked taste and flavour and tasted a little burnt. Service was great and the pizza was ready very quick. Would go again but maybe not order the Margherita pizza.

Ok

By YouBeeTs |

I had pepperoni pizza. It was not bad, but the dough was too soft, especially the rim. Too much topping, but this is usual in America. A little bit on the expensive side (12$ for a small pizza, 7$ for a glass of draft beer). The ambiance is informal and relaxed, I quite liked it. Service was efficient and corteuous. I got my pizza in a few minutes; the restaurant was about half full.

Best pizza for a long time

By Sharon W |

Wanted somewhere close to our hotel for a quick family dinner. We were sat at the bar so the kids could watch the pizzas being made. The food came out quickly and tasted fantastic. My family normally don't take their pizza with a thin base but there was not complaints as it tasted so good with very fresh ingredients. We indulged in dessert and all options were great. My teenager ordered the fried pizza dough with Nutella and we all 'helped' him out. Will go there again when in Philly.

Good Pizza but not great.

By PennStateShah |

The brick oven pizzas was definitely tasty but not sure it was worth the wait. The place is kinda small and so during peak times it may be tough to get a table. We went for lunch and sat at the "pizza bar". We shared 3 different pizza: tuna, prosciutto, and sausage. The tuna was my favorite. I gave it 4 stars because it was good pizza...but if it wasn't for the name, it would be lumped into all of the other good gourmet pizza places around the city. I would go back if the opportunity came up.

Delicioso!

By BAM1113 |

My husband and I were visiting Philly and after a morning at the art museum we wanted a quick lunch before heading over to the Barnes for more art overload. Pizzeria Vetri was conveniently located so we popped in. It's a modern, austere atmosphere with long communal tables, a bar by the window and a counter by the kitchen. We settled in at the end of a table and were promptly attended to by a personable young man. It wasn't overly crowded so it wasn't very loud. The pizzas come in two sizes and we ended up sharing a rotolo, a small crudo pizza and a wood oven salad packed with roasted vegetables. I ordered a glass of red wine (forgot which one but it was very good) to accompany the meal. The rotolo was scrumptious! The pizza had a thin crispy crust and the toppings (bufalo mozzarella, prosciutto, parmigiana) were terrific, added in just the right proportions. The salad was equally delicious. Service was efficient and congenial the whole time. It was a brutal bone-chillingly frigid day, but my husband can never resist ice cream, and soft serve is a special treat, so he couldn't resist that. I poached some and it was luscious. I enjoyed an espresso to end the meal. We really liked this place and would gladly return the next time we're in town.

Amazing pizza

By jonrd |

This was fantastic pizza. Great flavor, just the right amount of char. Incredible. Good place for lunch if you are in the area at the museums.

Great after a visit to the Free Library of Philadelphia

By CaptMakai |

We attended another great lecture, (Winner of Nobel Prize in Literature) and wanted something easy before driving home. I had a great vegie pizza that filled the bill.

Tasty Pizza and Fantastic Service

By worldmaps |

Tasty pizzas. Nice cocktails. Fantastic service. Reasonable prices. Great for mid-day break when visiting museums in the surrounding area.

Casual Pizza Restaurant

By SebastopolBing |

Just not exceptional, Cesar salad was crisp, croutons were doughy. The mushroom pizza had a ton of great mushroom flavor. Not a fan of their dough.

What happened??

By Anne W |

Pizzeria Vetri!!!... one of our favorite go-to- places for this foodie crowd who loves Philly. During the multitude of visits over the years we ordered all 4 of the fabulous salads, multiple pizzas, interesting and delicious beers on tap, and dessert all while enjoying the warm, welcoming and knowledgeable staff. What happened to our beloved place?? During our last visit we were met by staff with attitudes, as if we were bothering them. Don't think we didn't see you rolling your eyes or whispering to coworkers, then all looking back at our table. The table was filthy upon our arrival, despite the fact it was early in the day. The back shelf was loaded with dust! Several of the beers were already kicked, and new ones not yet available. We had to ask for more water and repeatedly flag down the irritated server for more food and drink. Half of our gang will not return again but the other half wants to give Pizzeria Vetri a second chance. Will it be worth it? So sad,

Delicious Lunch Close to Barnes Foundation

By kathy1966 |

Enjoyed a quick lunch before heading over across the street to the Barnes Museum. Delicious pizzas but salads a bit heavy on the dressing. Friendly service and quick turn around.

Pizza with a Difference

By galiano2017 |

Excellent pizza with very interesting variations; apps interesting and very good, such as rotolo excellent meatballs, etc. Service very good, common tables with small bar. Off the main path on side street in Center City.

Dropped in for a quick bite, and we were very happy with the experience. Great service, food was as good as expected!

Dinner Out w/ Our College Student

By dbailey3167 |

My wife and I were visiting our daughter who is a student at Temple Univ. We were looking for a new option and will definitely go back! Great apps and we recommend the cauliflower and veges which were awesome. Pizza, desserts and Vanilla Latte were all good.

Well-Worth the Walk

By Salli W |

After a long day of enjoying historic sights in Philly, we had tired feet. But we were revived with the excellent salads and pizza we enjoyed here.

Not Your Typical Pizzeria

By Wayne B |

Attended a company party at Vetri recently. Quite a few interesting varieties of pizza prepared and served right in front of you. Good selection of beer.

Pizza Pizza!

By fancyn1 |

Great place for a quick pizza. Fast service, delicious pizza and reasonably priced. Warning: they seat on a first come, first served basis, but they will text you when your table is ready and provide a link to check on your wait time. The tables are communal and there are some stools at the window so choose accordingly. It's a perfect casual spot when visiting Franklin Institute or the Barnes. And listen to the wait staff - a small pizza feeds one person.

Well worth repeat visits.

By jnice817 |

We did take out from Vetri for the second time and it was just as great as the first time. This time we had the Shroom Pizza and the Pepperoni Pizza and Caesar Salads. Service was very friendly. We’ll definitely go again.

Way overpriced..........

By Ron Ranella |

You better bring your check book when dining at this pizza place because the prices are way overpriced. After reading some of the reviews prior to going to this pizza restaurant, my wife & I were all hyped up about going. The margarita pizza we ordered lacked sauce & cheese. It was very dry & almost tasteless. We will not return.

Great pizza and homemade limoncello

By BostonChloe |

One of the best pizzas ever! Warm welcome by the owner and staff. The apps and pizza were excellent and the home-made limoncello and orangecello were amazing as an after-dinner drink! (I don't think that they are listed on the drink menu but be sure to ask for them!).

Excellent pizza

By Dr Mohammad |

I was with my daughter to this restaurant, which was an excellent choice. The menu was really easy to choose from , lots of variety of pizza & calzone. The staff are very friendly, the service is excellent. Wood oven is used inside the restaurant.

AMAZING pizza!

By jlrvs |

Delicious pizza, great selection of wines and very tasty salads. Super casual, was a great lunch after spending a few hours at the Barnes. Right near the Basilica too. Highly recommend.

Best Pizza around

By IrishBlueTraveller |

Had the Margherita pizza with mushrooms and peppers. Was really good, best pizza in a long time. Service was excellent and very attentive. Wood fired pizza was awesome...

This is not a calzone

By Tom T |

Burnt bread, taste like a streudel pastry with meat in it.. no ricotta.. small and edges were just bread, no meat, sauce, anything.. this is not the best calzone in Philly like written in articles.. wow horrible

Lunch

By Lynnette F |

Great wood fired pizza. We also shared the arugula salad. Very yummy. They had a good selection of beer on tap as well as bottles and cans. Fast service courteous and not invasive service.

Ok pizza, nice vibe.

By Morris |

With all the hype that the Vetri family restaurants get in Philly I was expecting more from Pizzeria Vetri. The pizza was fine that mall or chain pizza but certainly not anything worth a special trip. The wood fired crust of course has a great smoky flavor but the crust was floppy and did not hold up to the ingredients. Although there were not a lot of ingredients to hold up on the pizza. We had an egg plant pizza and there was only one small piece of egg plant on each slice. I don't know why Urban Outfitters thought it was a great place to purchase, it is not that unique.

Not so good

By YouBeeTs |

Been again. This time pizza was quite bad - almost no tomato, crusty cheese. More than 20$ for a less than mediocre pizza and a glass of beer. I will not be back.

Dinner

By JEC110 |

Great service! Love their pizza very fresh and great flavors! The salad are unusual but very tasty! Most recently had shaved cauliflower with kale. Enjoyed the meal

skip it...nothing special if you're over 30

By meadrooney |

Came here b/c of Trip Advisor. Not impressed. There are SO many better pizza spots in town to go to. This place caters to the yuppies...that millennial 20-30 y/o age group. It felt like 'fast casual'----like Chipotle for Italian. Pizza was ok...but we won't be back. Not our cup of tea.

Great flatbread magheritta's

By MvP |

Great pizza's, we enjoyed the flatbread magheritta again. But also the other pizza's are all freshmade & delicious. Service is good, location just 2 minutes from Barnes museum.

True Italian Wood Burning ovn Pizza

By Rich T |

Simply Outstanding. Have lived in Italy on and off for the last 5 years, we know a thing or two about good pizza. A trip to Pizzeria Vetri is like going home to Italia. Crust and sauce is authentic. This is the place if you want true wood burning pizza.

Fantastic salad and thin crust pizzas

By Philip M |

I'm a fan of thin crust, New Haven style. A little char is necessary to fit the bill. These certainly did, with just the right amount of crispness but still with a great bit of body. Now, I still think Pepe's has the better crust...but we're here in Philadelphia, not New Haven. We ordered 3 pizzas for 5 people. Probably a bit much but they were all so good. The 4 cheese formaggio was fantastic as was the one with fresh tomatoes. Also, if you can, try the salad with olives and roasted potatoes. Definitely, a good place to come back to. It was a chilly night but we enjoyed the outdoor seating even if the table was tilted quite a bit.

This used to be our go-to restaurant near the Free Library Main Branch

By susanausten |

I used to love this place -- it was clean, the pizza was great, and the service excellent. It's depressing how quickly something so good can get so bad. I've given it several tries since change of management (at least, that's what I heard was the problem) and the place now is dirty, service poor, and the pizza nowhere near as good as it was. If you are a Vetri Pizza lover, go to the one on Chancellor Street -- it's still great.

wonderful.

By flossgloss |

Quick seating on a Saturday night.... great service and fantastic pizza. I would go here every Saturday if I lived in Philly.

Good Pizza, Great atmosphere, nice drinks

By Danielle S |

Great place for families, fun dates, or friends. There are communal tables and my personal favorite, seats at the pizza oven. The space is cozy and well decorated in marble with rustic accents. The staff is very friendly and willing to make you comfortable. The location is spot on. It's a great place for neighborhood eats as well as for any visitors to the Art Museum area. It's right next to Whole foods, Target, and drug stores. The food is good. I like the pizzas but I would like more red sauce options. I like to make my own pizza each time with the Margherita base and add anchovies. The salads are the bomb. Each one is perfectly dressed with texture and flavor. Meatballs, definitely good. They even have the nutella pizza dessert (a fad if you ask me). The drink selection is great. There are plenty of beers and wines to choose from on the menu. Overall, it's a good spot with a hang out vibe.

EXCELLENT choice - across from the Barnes Foundation, for a Pizza Lunch & Beer

By VicEdee |

We visited the OUTSTANDING new Barnes Foundation - across the street, and were looking for a casual lunch spot. Got VERY lucky to happen onto this new place. It has the feel of a prototype for a new, soon-to-be-successful chain of stores (and in fact they are opening several new ones). Three of us (adults) shared a Caesar Salad (very good, but shouldn't share with more than 2 people), then TWO delicious pizzas: one with sausage and one with eggplant. Brick oven, thin crust - very delicious. The service / waitress was very friendly. Shared a few good beers (decent selection) and overall a very nice experience, all around. Low-to-mid priced (not cheap but definitely not expensive) Definitely RECOMMENDED

Lived up to the hype

By CityOrSand |

We ordered the crisp pizza. Not sure why, but we were expecting sauce. When it arrived I could see my husband was disappointed but said he would try it. Took one bite and said it was good. Took a second bite and said it was delicious! It was incredible and we can't wait to go back. Easy walk from the Rodin and Barnes museums.

Late Dinner

By zurak87 |

Great pizza. First visit after a nearby museum look around. Establishment is on the 2015 fifty best restaurants of Philly list. I ordered the personal Crudo Pizza. It was fabulous. The pizza dough was crisp and chewy. I loved the texture of the dough. Fresh cheeses were used. It had a healthy drizzle of olive oil and completely topped with multiple prosciutto slices. I took a stool at the counter by wood burning oven. You can feel the heat of the oven from ten feet away. I observed my pizza being created and baked. The place was empty since it was around 10pm. Lots of pickups around this time. Excellent customer service. Definitely coming back.

AWESOME

By Dominique B |

Fantastic pizza, terrific service, great location. We stopped by Pizza Vetri after a visit to the Barnes Foundation (it's right across the street). Thoroughly enjoyed a classic Margherita pizza (basil, mozzarella, tomato sauce) while my husband had a Salsiccia (fennel sausage, roasted fennel, tomato sauce, mozzarella. Definitely worth a visit!

A TOTAL RIPOFF

By Blizzard1000 |

Local friends suggested we get a pizza to go there. We called in order for a large. What we got for $35 resembled a good frozen pizza. Absolutely nothing like the photos presented above. A "large" was enough for a snack for four persons. At least 25% of the pizza was bare crust. A TOTAL RIPOFF!!!!!!

delightful, delicious thin crust pizza

By Tom E |

Went here with my cousins after touring the Barnes Foundation, practically across the street. Everyone loved it, including my cousin's 11 and 14 year old boys. We sat at the counter opposite the pizza oven, and the reward was watching the team of chefs making the pizzas, from scratch (the dough wrangler was the best!). Every pie we tried was delicious and with a toothy but not too crips crust that pleased this NY'er. Recommended.

Just like Italy!

By John Mark P |

Brick oven. Thin, crispy crust. Quality toppings to include Bufala mozzarella. Amazing pizza. Communal seating. Attentive, friendly, and engaging staff. This place reminded me so much of pizzerias in Italy. It's a small place and can get crowded but totally great. Try the Nutella pizza for dessert!

Excellent service and great salads ... and the pizza was great too

By Michael E |

Been to the Barnes Foundation gallery and stopped by for a late lunch. Good choice of pizza whch was served really quickly. Salads were excellent and we would recommend this for a quick break for lunch.

Lunch after visiting museums.

By ByronAllen |

This restaurant is conveniently located near the Barnes foundation and Rodin museums. It features Neapolitan style pizza cooked in a true wood burning oven. The crust tasted authentic and was properly fired. The variety of toppings will likely satisfy most anyone with both American and Italian choices. Service was prompt, congenial and efficient.

The best!

By alansfmd |

We went early on a Saturday night with all of the kids and grandkids; it was a short walk form our hotel on the Parkway. Even though it's a small place they sat all 13 of us at a long table. The service was superb and the pizza and salads top notch and they didn't rush us.

amazing pizza!

By Eliza1776 |

a great lunch spot, especially after visiting the barnes museum just a few steps away. v casual, great service and every pizza we tried was outstanding. sit at the bar and watch them make the pizzas for an even more intimate experience.

Birthday lunch

By devil30 |

We had10 in our party ranging from grandad to an 8 year old. We ordered drinks; beers were very good and what tress was attentive to all orders including those drinking water. We ordered a veggie calzone; it was stuffed with corn and zucchini. It was very tasty. The rest shared a traditional pie w moz, tomatoes and basil; it was great. We also ordered a peperoni and a pro suit. The chow was great, crust was crispy right out of the wood fired oven. We will go back again.

Casual Vibe, great pizza near the Barnes

By scbethesda |

I will admit it. We are pizza snobs - spoiled by DC mainstays like Pizzeria Paradiso, Comet Ping Pong, 2 Amys and their analogs in NYC. But this place in Philly really stacks up! Fabulous wood fired pizza, perfect salads and good beer. Plus excellent service, casual but cool atmosphere. My dead give away is how a pizza place handles the eggplant topping. Most tend to screw it up with thick slices that turn mushy, others cut it too fine and burn the darn thing. Very few get it right - sliced just right, slightly crunchy but flavorful. Vetri passed with flying colors. Must visit.

Good food in casual setting

By Rob P |

The good is great, but you have to be comfortable sharing tables with strangers in this crowded little restaurant. You order up front and take a seat. They bring you food and drinks, but you sit at long tables with other folks. This creates a casual friendliness, but if you want a romantic, private affair, this is not the place.

A master piece after the seeing the Masters!!!

By Morosiello |

After an wonderful and exhausting visit to the Barnes Foundation, my family and I stumbled into this unexpected gem. The menu offering is modest, but everything we ordered was amazing. Most notable were the wood grilled root salad and simple Margarita Pizza. Awesome, friendly service from people who are excited to be part of excellence. We indulged in a surprise desert...our children (and me!) thoroughly loved the Smore pizza made with marshmallows and Nutella filling...MMMMMM! This place will top our list of must do's during our return trip to Phili.

Rainy night dinner

By PeterKatrina6269 |

Bleak drizzly night so we elected to go local for dinner. On arrival we were confronted with community tables which did not sit comfortable with us; but “when in Rome”! The staff were fantastic; energetic and engaging and then they delivered the pizza which was sublime. Could not fault anything and even enjoyed the community table. While all food was excellent leave some room for the fried pizza dough.
