Smaller menu bistro with a view

By MooshLA |

Set back behind the main (tossing) fish market, this small bistro has probably >10 tables inside and maybe another 5 outside on a patio deck overlooking the market and Sound. The menu was not nearly as varied as I would have expected a restaurant to be when it’s literally adjacent to a fine fresh fish market. The only fish on the menu...salmon. Although it was indeed fresh, I wasn’t terribly impressed with the preparation and presentation. A bit oversauced and on an assortment of potatoes and broccoli. Those that don’t eat shellfish will have a real challenge here I’m afraid to say. Staff were attentive.

Saffron Clam Chowder!

By ColoradoLover65 |

We found this small restaurant in the busy Pike Place Market serendipitously. It’s a lovely spot close to, but far from the hustle of the market. I didn’t have high expectations considering its touristy location, but I would go back in a minute for the saffron clam chowder. Just a touch made this chowder a little extra special. The server seemed inexperienced, which accounts for the less than 5-star review.

Wonderful

By Mandy H |

What a wonderful find. Wonderful service and wonderful food. Would highly recommend. Not cheap but worth every dollar.

Excellent time

By Sherin V |

I went to Seattle with my husband who had a conference, it was a bucket list item to visit the Pike’s Place fish market, we got there late so the market was actually closing up shop. I was so very disappointed to miss the fish toss but I asked one of the vendors if there was a good place to have dinner and he recommended Place Pigalle so we went in it was quaint with a stunning view of Puget Sound at sunset. Our server was Millie. She was fantastic the best server I ever had. I ate duck comfit and orange moscato wine. My goodness I would move to Seattle just to eat there again. Wonderful experience Millie the best server ever!

Excellent fish at Pike St Market

By AnotherEngineer |

This restaurant is hidden away on the edge of Pike St Market, but well worth the search. We had to wait for a short time but the food and service were excellent and they obviously benefitted from the proximity of the fish market.

Great Seattle restaurant

By ccypher |

Looks like a tourist spot (right on the Sound! And in the Market Place). Feels like a local corner favorite. Great food, great service. Just be prepared to ‘squeeze’ into your table. Tiny tiny, but part of the fun. We ‘shared’ in another table’s birthday celebration! Not for quiet private conversations!

A night to remember

By Curt Y |

To celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary my wife and I chose our favorite restaurant in Seattle, Place Pigalle. It was a beautiful sun-drenched early evening and Tom, the maitre d’ , Tom, showed us to our table for two which was positioned strategically with a broad view of Elliot Bay and the ferry boats and sloops under full sail plying the waters. Shortly thereafter Tom presented us with two complimentary glasses of champagne to commemorate the occasion. Our delightful waiter, Julian, remembered us from a visit with friends the previous month. For an appetizer we shared a dozen Willapa Bay oysters. Very tasty. On his recommendation my wife ordered the king salmon special which was prepared medium rare and served with Morel mushrooms, pineapple salsa and sautéed squash blossoms. It was moist and very flavorful. I ordered the octopus with lavender and fennel sausage on a bed of white beans. I guess I’m not a real fan of octopus, calamari yes, but the totality of ingredients made a great combination. We brought our own bottle of wine, which was an anniversary gift from friends, and were charged a reasonable corkage fee of $30. We topped it all off by sharing a dried apricot tart with warm cream. As the evening started to wind down we were joined at our table by our chef, Tom, who we learned was at Gonzaga University at the same time as our daughter. In summary the food was delicious, the staff very friendly without being overbearing. It was a perfect evening.

Killed Father’s Day with my daughter

By Mark P |

Arrived at 2:34pm for our 2:30pm Father’s Day brunch reservation with my daughter that was visiting from LA… waited at least 5 minutes at the front hostess stand that was empty. Then what I assume was the manager arrived to inform me that they stop serving at 2:30 because the kitchen needs to switch service for dinner… they wouldn’t seat us even with our reservation. The hostess or manager could have cared less and definitely killed the festive “Father’s Day” brunch I was looking forward to with my daughter. Unfortunate and unnecessary rude response and behavior from anyone in the service or restaurant business. Sad…

High expectations not met

By DoctorM |

You'll find Place Pigalle in the famous Pike Place Market down a narrow hallway behind the vendors that throw the fish. This small restaurant seems suspended in space overlooking the Seattle waterfront and there are excellent views from the windows. The crowded and lively dining room is served by a tiny kitchen, so you can expect some delays in the delivery of your meal. We found that the food did not match the atmosphere this French Bistro. The list of appetizers looked so good on paper, that our friend basically ordered one of everything for the table. The mussels cooked in wine, bacon, and celery with were a hit: we asked for more bread just so we could suck up the liquid. However, the calamari and mushrooms cooked in cream dijon mustard sauce was a flop and there was not much flavor in those tubes resembling over-cooked pasta. The escargot in tarragon butter was bland and lacking the usual intense garlic flavor. Our waiter gushed over quality of the 12 tiny Willapa Bay oysters but we were unimpressed. The highly touted saffron clam chowder lacked any real flavor of the ocean. The chicken and rabbit liver pate was excellent. It was like eating a liver flavored marshmallow that spread like soft butter over bread. Likewise, Pigalle really knows how to make great pomme frites. My bouillabaisse was filled with fresh local seafood, but the saffron-tomato broth had little flavor. And my wife's crab cakes were nothing special. My advice is to order selectively, choose a bottle of wine or two from their extensive list, and focus on conversation with friends. Reservations absolutely required at this small bistro in a tourist centric location.

A classy view

By Megan W |

It was a little tricky finding the place. Look for the sign near the pig, behind the fish stand. I had the house-cured salmon and delicious cocktail. Try to get a spot by a window.

Tasty

By RoderickS1968 |

This was our first meal in Seattle. We were a party of four and they took us without reservations. I might have enjoyed it more than the others since I really enjoy seafood. Had the fish stew (can’t remember the Italian name). The other three from Iowa played it safe and ordered the fish and chips. Nice light filled room that could probable accommodate small and large groups.

Wonderful way to start our vacation

By DKGills |

My wife & I plus our dear friends were lucky enough to eat here the night before our cruise to Alaska last July. The food was absolutely magnificent and service simply fantastic. Weren’t rushed at all - the way dining out should be. Cannot recommend Pigalle Restaurant highly enough.

Very disappointed in the food, especially after reading other reviews

By AwayWeGo2016789 |

The restaurant is attractive and the staff was attentive. My husband, however, was not pleased with his meal which is most unusual. The staff was accommodating and provided him with a second choice which proved acceptable but we were disappointed as this was our first night in town and we were celebrating a special occasion.

PLACE PIGALLE Pike Place Market. The most hidden treasure in Seattle.

By barryrichardm |

Incredible food…. Just delicious. Wife had superb cocktail. Onion soup the best she ever had. Great service. Beautiful view of Elliott Bay! This place is a treasure.

Great discovery nice service good food

By Rik D |

In this area of town you would suspect that a French place would be a tourist trap. None of that! Very local feel, passionate service, well prepared food. Exactly what I needed after a days work. See you next time guys!

Wonderful evening!

By Ken C |

We met friends here for dinner and it couldn’t have been better. Good cocktails, then appetizers (white beans & bitter greens, calamari), followed by the most amazing scallops, crab cakes, and duck confit, with a very reasonably priced bottle of wine. Great service - a delightful evening.

Unacceptable Reservation

By Alex Sandra O |

I am incredibly disappointed. I made our reservation for a double birthday two and a half weeks ago before our reservation when I booked our airfare tickets specifically for our birthday celebration in Seattle, coming from Las Vegas. We arrived in town and went to Pike Place Saturday September 11th and noticed a sign that the restaurant was closed through the 12th. Concerned, I called and listened to the phone recording saying they would be closed through the 11th. I was relieved and shortly after also received a text asking me to confirm my reservation, which I did. My reservation was confirmed. TWO HOURS before our reservation, after we had already returned to the area, I received another text notifying us that our reservation was canceled. We peeked in the windows and saw a completely disheveled restaurant that was clearly nowhere near reopening and ready to serve customers. I called again and received the same message stating the restaurant would be closed through the 11th. I checked the website and saw that the restaurant was scheduled to be closed through the 18th for repairs! Finding another place last minute completely threw us and ruined our day. My daughter had specifically requested this restaurant for her birthday and was greatly disappointed traveling so far to spend her special day there. Clearly this establishment could have given plenty of notice since reopening for the day of our reservation was not even remotely a possibility. This was handled absolutely terribly. I attempted to contact the restaurant and emailed them about this situation and they didn’t even bother to respond! Absolutely TERRIBLE!!

Oh, the pot de crème

By Hsteinmiller |

My duck came with noodles and a chili sauce that was at the limit of spiciness for me. The duck was perfectly cooked, though. My husband liked his king salmon special. But the highlight was the Belgian chocolate pot de crème. It was sinfully delicious without being overly sweet. Our server was very charming. We like coming here on our yearly trips to Seattle.

Waterfront Hidden Gem!

By kitkatsjersey |

Such a fabulous find for lunch! Tucked away towards back of Public Market on the waterfront- lovely views. Delightful selection of menu items, highly recommend the mussels, simply scrumptious! Friendly ,accommodating , clean.

Great food, wonderful view, friendly service

By travel-world-mom |

This French bistro serves some very unique dishes that are not often found in US. It is strong on seafood. Calamari Dijonnaise and bitter greens and beans are outstanding. Bouillabaisse is also excellent with the super fresh and naturally sweet seafood. Accompanied by a great bubbling Rose and the wonderful view of blue ocean on a beautiful summer evening, what else can you ask for in life!

Great Service! Great View!

By AliBug |

This restaurant is in Pike Place Farmer's Market behind the fish counter where they throw fish. It's tucked away and may not be easily found, be we did, and glad we did. We needed a break from crowds and shopping so we popped in here for a cocktail and a bite to eat. We sat outside on a beautiful day overlooking the gorgeous bay. Ariana was our waitress and always greeted us with a smile. We enjoyed the crab cakes and pate. Be on the look out for this gem, it's a nice get-a-way from crowds. I would imagine it to be romantic at night.

Great experience and even better food

By Antonio M |

This place has really interesting and unique French cuisine. The atmosphere made us really feel like we were in a Parisian cafe. Our table was a little tight but the waiter was really nice and moved us to a table with a view. Highly recommend

Fabulous bouillabaisse!!

By Mary A |

What a cute restaurant tucked behind the market in Pike Place Market--and with a wonderful view of the water. I ordered the bouillabaisse not expecting the gorgeous presentation. Part of the seafood was arranged in a pyramid protruding from the broth. Every morsel was delicious!! Probably the best mussels ever.

unexpected delight

By RitaAdvisor |

after walking the market and finding a lot of restaurants crowded, we found this sweet place. The view was fantastic, being seated by the window. The service was excellent. The beet salad was wonderful and the peach vodka drink superb.

Good food, good service

By EspenSOre |

We sat on the ouside having a narrow view towards the sea (or down towards some of the corridors in Pike Place Market). We had a very good lunch and enjoyed our meal.

Pike Place Market eatery!

By Krisinseattle |

Lovely old restaurant in the Pike Place Market, but with a view our over the waterfront. Enjoyed the French Onion Soup, the warm greens salad, the beet salad, the pasta special (rigatoni) and wine with friends. Server (Guy) very friendly and timely. With 2.5% living wage added plus tax, the bill before gratuity for 4 was $280.00.

Family Owned, Must Visit

By VFP |

This family owned restaurant is lovely. The food quality was so fresh, and very reasonable for the portions. It is teeny tiny inside, so try to get a table in the outside tent close to the water, if you can. Reservations are a must.

Wonderful view

By JAHCalifornia |

Great food and atmosphere. The smoked salmon dish was particularly good. Others had the mussles and raved about them.

A gem in the market

By Janet O |

Lovely time, great service, delightful food. We will definitely be back. Oh and the view is spectacular.

Wonderful

By paulvilla |

Located in Pike Place Market, this was a small hidden gem of a restaurant, Great views and absolutely delicious food. Wonderful service from the bartender to the servers. Be sure to look into the open kitchen. It's amazing that such quality food comes out of such a small place. Would highly recommend

Wonderful dinner

By Merritt G |

Enjoyable meal, with views that can’t be beat, and excellent service. I truly expected the food to be subpar and that this restaurant would exist on the fact it’s in a great location. Thankfully, that was not true! The food was absolutely delicious and I would come here again!

excellent food; friendly service; great views; prices to match

By PJTraveler1950 |

Dined alone weekday night. Sat at a table near windows and against the mirrored wall, which enable me to see the water and the entire restaurant. nice art work. I started with octopus and sausage appetizer, which was big enough for two, really. then had bouillabaisse, which looked like too much so I skipped the 5 large chunks of potato and focused on the clams, mussels, prawns, salmon, etc. reasonably priced half bottle of Cote d;Rhone was also consumed. Wait staff was very friendly and efficient. They even brought me a charger for my phone when I mentioned it had unexpectedly crashed on me! above and beyond.

Hidden oasis

By tougo |

Our favorite hideaway in the market. Perfectly set up do every table has a view. The food is amazing! Mussels in a delicious sauce, pate with all the accompaniments, and onion soup swoon worthy. If that wasn’t enough reason to go, the service is perfectly on point. Looking forward to our next visit already.

Easy to miss and hard your forget

By Barbara M |

We had a late lunch and the food service and view are terrific. I definitely will return. A beautiful place to watch the sunset.

Delightful tucked away spot

By AdventurousAmy77 |

We by chance found this place while shopping at the Pike Place Market. It is tucked away behind the main Pike Place Market sign. We sat outside and had a nice view of the sound. We had a delightful lunch. The food and the service were stellar. After having excellent salads, my son and I had mussels served over pasta and my hubby had fresh catch king salmon. The house Pinot Grigio was a perfect pairing. Our son had a Moscow Mule. It was very relaxing and a wonderful meal. A tad pricey, but definitely worth it. I think it was the best meal on this trip to the Seattle area.

Last Minute Dining

By Eugene M |

We had wrapped up an event and decided to grab an early bite of dinner at the Pike Place Market...It was a Saturday evening...After trying six restaurants we ended up at the small bar of Place Pigalle. Wow! We each had a drink and then shared a glass of wine. We shared three different appetizers and left thrilled that we had ended up there. Foie Gras, Liver Salad, and Clams. The preparation and presentation coming from the tiny kitchen blew us away. Our Bartender/Waiter was a total pro.

Wonderful Hidden Gem

By hannah jane gillingham |

A hidden gem in Pike Place - our tour guide (Joe) recommended it to us. Beautiful views over the bay, peaceful and relaxed atmosphere, with very attentive and knowledgable service. We had lunch - and the food was excellent - we had the clam chowder and the warm beet salad - both first class. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the market and you won't be disappointed.

French Onion Soup is best outside France

By Janet T |

French Onion Soup for lunch was fabulous without the heavy beef broth that most places do. Our friend had the soup of the day and loved it while my husband had White Truffle Chicken with Apples Salad, which he also enjoyed. Since it was lunchtime, the staff my friend and me to split a glass of white wine. The wait staff was very attentive. We ALWAYS enjoy coming here. It's our friend's favorite in Seattle.

Vibrant and delicious

By Caroline K |

Tucked away upstairs amongst the Pike Place market buildings. Small, busy, relaxed. Food food and carefully blended cocktails. Tiny atmospheric bar, friendly staff, and we had a table looking out over the harbor, watching the lights of the ferris come and go.

EXCELLENT

By Trek02311813250 |

Excellent service, the manager, the cook and the waiters give personalized attention, family treatment, the food is 10, I can only say that every time I travel to Palma de Mallorca it will be one of my favorite restaurants. Thank you Daily, José, Jorge and Pedro for the good treatment received, see you soon.

Anniv of our 1yr Engagement

By ApprovedbyCraig |

We got engaged last year in Paris and wanted to have an amazing reminder of our Holiday. We decided upon Place Pigalle for it's incredible reputation and amazing views. We were not disappointed. The hostess greatest us with the nicest smile and welcome to Place Pigalle. Guy, our waiter, was the best. Attentive, cordial, great stories and recommendations for food and drinks. The bartender made the best Old Fashioned. We enjoyed foie gras, onion soup and an incredible pork chop. We will definitely be back. It was an amazing reminder of our engagement on the steps os Sacre Coeur last Dec 27th ❤❤

fabulaous lunch

By M8000NUkatiea |

Visited the restaurant for lunch - warm beet salad and Bouillabaisse - absolutely fabuous - best i have had in the US

Good Vibe

By jordansbulls |

Went to Place Pigalle for a cocktail which was the Champs Elysees Cocktail with Brandy, Yellow Chartreuse, lemon juice, Angostura Bitters. Also got the La Salle drink along with a half dozen oysters and Pommes Frites. Good environment and vibe.

A lovely escape from the crowds

By tougo |

What’s a wonderful lunch we had! Tinaa took great care of us. We enjoyed the mussels and frites with some fantastic wine she recommended. We relaxed and enjoyed the views out the windows.

Wonderful mid week lunch

By DEGiii |

Second visit and did not disappoint. The warm roasted beet salad was big enough to share and it was wonderful. The House-cured salmon with dill and gin was devine. The pate was superb. Initially, we were seated at a table away from the outside windows. When one such table was available, the waiter, Guy, moved us to that table.

Dinner for Four

By MontanaMom |

We arrived early and the host seated us right away. We had the best view in the house and watched the sun set. Stunning view. The service was outstanding! For the food and spirits I tasted of two different reds. Neither was off the charts. We ordered the mussels, which tasted okay but the appearance when they arrived was less than appealing. Two of our party ordered the duck, one ordered the salmon and I had the bouillabaisse. All were tasty. Overall, the restaurant seemed clean, however the restrooms need a deep cleaning. Finally, I want to reiterate that the service was outstanding!

Quaint French restaurant with wonderful views

By lesliebauman |

Place pigalle is past the throwing fish vendor in pike place market with a marvelous view overlooking Elliott bay. The food is excellent. The service was pretty bad this time which is unusual for this place but perhaps they’re short staffed like many places. Definitely recommend enjoying lunch here while in Seattle visiting pike place market.

August dinner(s) at Place Pigalle

By dridings |

My wife and I found Place Pigalle through website searches when looking for great downtown Seattle restaurants. I don't think we would ever have found it on chance, as it is hard to find wandering around. But this place is worth finding! We loved the food AND the ambience. To make it even better, Sassy, our server, was attentive, but also fun. Mike (bar) also contributed to our great experience. This is a great restaurant in a very touristy area, but it is much more reminiscent of a neighborhood gem! While this is great French food, it isn't pretentious. We certainly hope to return here on our next visit!

Fabulous

By katyo484 |

Dinner was delicious; the ambiance was perfect and lovely views. Highly recommend it. Felt very European.

A relaxing French lunch in a great location

By Arjun S |

The service was relaxed and friendly. The food was outstanding. The food is complimented by a good wine list. The restaurant is located down a back alley in the Pike's Place Market and a bit hard to find. It has outside tables with a view, The main room has a great harbor view also. The delicious food however, is the best reason to return.

Relaxed amazing dinner

By Judy G |

What a fun evening. The food was great- amazing view from the outside terrace. Excellent all around. The crab cakes were delicious. Definitely worth a return visit

Delightful Lunch

By Rumples |

I was showing a friend, who was visiting from Australia, around Pike Place Market and suggesting possibilities for lunch. When I led her to Place Pigalle, she expressed delight in the location and needed no more recommendations. This restaurant, on the main arcade level of the Public Market, stands away from the hubbub there. It is by itself at the rear, behind the stall where fish "fly" throughout the day. And it possesses a spectacular view of Elliott Bay, the Olympic mountains and ferries plying the water. Customers can sit inside or outside on a small patio, which has only a partial view and receives noise from traffic below. We made a reservation inside for 12:30 p.m. and asked for a window table, but that location cannot be reserved. When we returned, good luck accompanied us and the exact table that we wanted was vacant. It stood in the corner with a panoramic view. My friend kept getting up to capture photo after photo from the window. Our delightful waitress smiled at her enthusiasm but mostly focused on providing excellent service throughout our meal. I ordered steamed mussels and bread (extra charge) and my friend opted for crab cakes. They both proved to be nicely prepared and quite delicious. We both enjoyed a glass of white wine. Prices are somewhat high here, but, in my opinion, worth the expenditure for the quality of food, service and setting. The restaurant was only half full on this weekday, which is unusual, based on my past experience, and the noise level was low. The relatively small room has a pleasant atmosphere with good space between each table and flooring with giant black and white squares. But I doubt anyone spends much time surveying the interior with that exterior view.

Welcome to Pike!

By Lawrence |

My friend insisted we visit her favorite spot while I visited Seattle/Pike Place..we were greeted & served by a warm staff! The service was spot on, and food was delicious...This place fills up quickly, but it should: both FOH & BOH are working together as a Team, and you will not only feel this; you will taste. The views are nice and it’s a cozy place..

Great dinner date with my wife

By Paul W |

Had a wonderful dinner. If you’re a fan of mussels the appetizer was phenomenal. We were told the mussels were wild caught the previous day! My wife had a the Salmon Special which was caught in Skuna Bay, amazing dish as well!!! Great dinner date location.

View lovely, environment and service pleasant, food mediocre

By qmiller1 |

View a 4. Service and environment a 3. Food a 2. Was looking for a lovely seafood lunch with a view. The view met expectations, food did not. Would not recommend, from a foodie. I'm disappointed Seattle with this so called seafood. I could make better at home.

Lovely, delicious lunch

By lmitravel |

Tucked away in Pike Place Market, this is nice upscale French restaurant with delicious menu. We had lunch - crab cakes and duck - and both were delicious. Highly recommended. Only a few table outdoors and the view is a bit industrial although you do see the ocean, but nice on a sunny day.

Favorite place at Pikes Market

By PS623 |

Place Pigalle is our favorite stop at Pikes Market. We are from out of state but whenever we visit Seattle this is one of our preferred dining choices. The market was packed on Thursday and the restaurant is only steps away but offers a relaxed dining experience overlooking the water. Julian was our lunch server and the overall service was exceptional as we felt very welcomed by the entire staff. We had a warm beet salad, bouillabaisse, crab cakes and salmon. All the dishes were excellent. The wine selections were very nice and finishing the meal with a mousse made for a most pleasant Seattle afternoon again.

Well-Hidden Place Pigalle Still Provides French Delights in the Pike Place Market

By Marshall J |

Is there anything more comforting than returning to an old favorite restaurant after many years away and discovering that it is still just as great as remembered. Place Pigalle has secured its well-hidden spot in Seattle's Pike Place Market for decades, offering classic dishes in a small romantic spot with windows providing great views of Elliott Bay below, especially at sunset. A recent Sunday evening dinner found many of Place Pigalle's favorite classic dishes still holding a revered place on the menu and delivering delights at the table with their signature takes on classic French fare with Northwest accents. Superb cocktails and wines by the glass enlivened our visit. Engaging, informative service by the daughter of the longtime female owner of Place Pigalle (once a server under previous ownership) only added to the memorable experience for the three of us. It was an evening that we hated to see end. Find Place Pigalle in the Market -- it's not really that difficult -- and prepare to be swept away.

Very nice but with a dose of attitude

By Trey F |

We really enjoyed this restaurant. Prices are not as high as you light expect from a fine dining establishment. The food was perfect, the bar tender was great making non-alcoholic drinks for us with fresh juices and fruit. The only issue was the saddle shoed Host/Wait Staffer. She was abrasive and ingenuine in her interaction, maybe she was having a bad day! All-in-all, don’t miss this place!

Really low class…

By Chandiisthebest |

Just sharing… IF you have good taste and high expectations, watch out for this tourist trap… the location is cool, so all the tourists flock here - meaning that the food is low end and the service is matching. We made reservations weeks in advance and there was no table waiting for us. The food was heavy-handed.. it was a traumatic experience..

A bit disappointing

By Ambassador771931 |

We went for lunch this past Saturday, and sat outside on the Patio next to Pikes Market. The view was fabulous, the "talent" singing next door in the Market was slightly annoying, but we could tune it out. As for the food, two out of 4 dishes were very good--the french dip and the beans (nice presentation and flavorful). But I recommend skipping the crab cakes--mostly breading and pretty tasteless, and the calamari in a dijon sauce (presentation looks like someone scraped something off someone else's plate, it was barely warm and the balance of dijon to cream and seasonings were WAY off). Overall, for the prices they are charging this was disappointing.

Fortunate to have found Place Pigalle! Go there.

By Dulce |

Everything was perfect: food, ambiance, setting and service. Great food was served promptly and our server was helpful, courteous and charming. The place is welcoming and very “Parisian-feeling”, warm and just perfect. Our meal was served in very good time and was just delicious. My first time in Pike place and Seattle. We were scouting out for a good lunch restaurant and as soon as I read the menu outside, we de used to stay. No regrets and absolutely pleased. Thank you!! Keep up the great work.

It was Great...View, Food, Drinks, Staff ~ Highly Recommend~

By tammyjewel628 |

We were nearby and wanted to have dinner. Looked at a couple of places and decided on this one. The view is great. It overlooks the Bay. Food was great. Drinks great. Staff helpful and attentive. Would highly recommend. I had the french onion soup and pork chops. My husband had the crab cakes. I enjoyed my drink, but it's not on their online menu, so not remembering, but it was great. We had booked a reservation online, and were going to ride the ferris wheel first, but it was raining. We went there and they went ahead and seated us, which was great.

Fantastic Food, Service & Atmosphere!

By Jeff F |

Took my wife for mother's day dinner; Service was great, food was better! Would highly recommend Place Pigalle! Also, the atmosphere and view of Elliott Bay are the best!

While at the Market dine here

By Eddy35 |

Two days in downtown Seattle and two wonderful lunches here. Chef Marco worked magic with the meals we were served. Escargot and bouillabaisse were especially delicious.

Highly recommend

By Mariah G |

We decided to go to Place Pigalle around 4 pm on a Monday afternoon and were able to make an online reservation. After a few minutes searching for the restaurant (it's tucked away in Pike Place), the staff welcomed us into the cozy dining room. We were given a table for two by a window overlooking the sound. The Duck Confit was magnificent! We also enjoyed the Bouillabaisse. Highly recommend for a memorable dinner right in the heart of Pike Place.

Fantastic view

By M Z |

This is located in the Pike's Place Market so it's easy to locate, but everything around it is swarming with tourists. French-inspired cuisine. Everything we had was good, if a tad on the high priced side, and our server was great. They have seasonal items, so be sure to ask about those. The view is absolutely lovely.

Great View and Food

By Jane and Bob F |

Ate outside in an area with about 6 tables. It was lovely watching the sunset. Service was a bit slow in the beginning. Bread is extra, so until we got our appetizer you sat with nothing to eat. Not an easy spot outside for the waiter as he had to go up and down steps to reach us. But the dinner was fantastic and we enjoyed everything.

Culinary Delights with a View and a Whole Lot More

By Bill V |

Place Pigalle has an attractive setting off the main concourse in the Pike Place Market near Pike Street, with a welcoming ambience, comfortable seating arrangements and a beautiful view. The menu is filled with interesting selections made with fresh local ingredients using French and other culinary traditions to provide an amazing array of very interesting dishes. We chose the Duck Breast and Northwest Bouillabaisse and split a Washington Apple and Belgian Endive salad. Guy was our server and he was superb—very professional and helpful—with a good sense of humor. He gave us time to enjoy our meal, helped with our wine selections, which were excellent, attended to our requests and contributed to a most enjoyable evening. My ratings are based on my assessment of how well the personnel do what the owner expects them to do. I rated our experience as outstanding. I’m already thinking about another visit to Place Pigalle to try the Octopus and Country Sausage.

A Nice Place To Go To Escape The Crush Of Pike Place

By laff2live |

The food was excellent, the service was outstanding and the prices reasonable. A small, out of the way restaurant with a focus on seafood. The furniture is simple and dated, the view is pretty good if you get one of the three window tables and there is a nice 8-seat bar if you just want a drink in a relaxed environment. Would give 5 stars if they improve the furnishings and open up the view. There are bigger and busier restaurants around but the laid-back environment and good food really appeals to me. Will definately go back.

Great Restaurant

By Kim1084 |

We picked this place from a recommendation at our hotel. It was a nice place overlooking the sound tucked into Pike Place. The service was great and prompt. I had delicious bouillabaisse and my friend had halibut. She said it was some of the best she has had. Highly recommend

Perfect In Every Way

By Rumples |

We had lunch here on a Sunday and couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. Though we arrived at 11:30 a.m. without a reservation, the host seated us at a prime table with a breathtaking view of Elliott Bay and the ferries and freighters plying the water. It was difficult for me to take my eyes away to look at the menu. But when I did, it took a awhile to decide what to order because of myriad possibilities. They included steamed mussels, white truffle chicken and apple salad, duck confit and croque madame I finally selected Dungeness crab cakes ($24) and my husband chose Northwest bouillabaisse ($25). The crab cakes arrived perfectly prepared with much fresh crab and no filler that I could detect -- absolutely heavenly. The bouillabaisse contained wonderfully fresh clams, Dungeness crab, salmon, mussels and a giant prawn in a saffron-tomato broth. It was exquisite. I drank a glass of crisp, dry sauvignon blanc wine and my husband had iced tea with many free refills. Though more traditional French desserts were available, we shared a delicious apple crisp. I truly enjoyed this French bistro's calm atmosphere after the lively crowd in the Pike Place Market. (Place Pigalle is behind the market's flying fish stall, where countless tourists gather to watch the show.) Soft music played in the background and tables were set far enough apart to have private conversations. Mirrors made the fairly small space seem larger as did the many windows. Our host, upon arrival, also served as our waiter. He was congenial, appropriately attentive, prompt and focused on excellent service. His slight British accent along with the French cuisine gave me the feeling that I had gone abroad without leaving Seattle. As this is an upscale restaurant, expect to pay more than average prices for the fine-quality offerings here. And there is a $4.50 charge for an order of bread. But we thought our meals and the $1 million view made the expenditure well worthwhile.

General Manager was very passionate about his food

By Carol E |

Our work group had a private dinner here on a Tuesday night. It was a wonderful experience. First, it's in a great location....sort of down an alley but with a great view of the water and the ferris wheel. They served us nice appetizers. Oysters were okay. Mussels were good (their specialty). Lamb pops were fantastic. I could have made a meal off those. We had four entree choices. I had the salmon. My table mates had the beef option. There was also a vegetarian option. We all loved our dishes. They brought fresh bread to the table. The service was excellent. The best part was dessert. We had 3 options. Chocolate, Creme Brûlée and a tart. The chocolate dish was just like a creamy fudge. So delicious. The general manager showed so much passion for the food he was serving. We thought for sure he was the owner because of his enthusiasm. They didn't rush us at all. And one of my table mates even requested more bread at the end and they brought it.

Sometimes squeezing by the bar is the best spot

By Cassie H |

This restaurant is so small and yet so accommodating. We had popped in for lunch on our last day and most of the restaurant was closed for a private party. As the party wasn’t starting for another two hours they asked if we (5 of us) could eat at the bar if we really wanted to eat there. We said okay and were treated to tasty food, good wine and great conversation with the bartender.

Nice small restaurant in Pike Place Market

By Christian T |

Seattle is a very pleasant place in June. This restaurant has a nice outdoors sitting area with a nice view of Puget Sound. I had "House-Cured Salmon with Dill and Gin". It was very good. The service was very good as well. Pike Place Market is a very unique and interesting place and this is a nice alternative for lunch after visiting the market.

Very good fare in the middle of the most trafficed tourist zone in SEA

By Taco84098 |

A friend had recommende dPlace Pigalle to us. When we found that it was almost dead center in the middle of Pike's Place Market, we immediately has reservations. We went anyway and were very glad we did. Everthing was superb, from the cocktails, to the extensive wine list to the food. Very, very good! We startted with mussels appetizer and octopus appetizer. Both were perfectly prepared! Two diners selected the pan seared slamon, both reported it to be excellent (i'm not a salmon afficionado). I had the kurobuta pork chop- it was very juicy and perfectly med rare. We had chocolate pot de crème as well as crème brûlée, for desert..... both were excellent. We finished with a fine port- an excellent end to a very good dining evening. We will definitely return to Place Pigalle. (I know I heaped serious praise on this restaurant.... I do not like every place I eat and unfortunately found a bad apple in Seattle before we tried Place Pigalle. Bummer for them (Little Water Cantina) and good news for Place Pigalle.

Excellent for 30 years

By Pamela L |

We had an extended family gathering at Place Pigalle, a party of 9 people the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The dinners were all excellent, the wine delicious and service perfect. I do not live in Seattle, but every time I visit, I do my best to dine at Place Pigalle. One visit I dined as a walk in. I have never been disappointed in a single meal or with the service. The one suggestion that I hope management would consider is to tone down or eliminate the strong chemical cleaner or soaps used in the restrooms (both male and female). After a trip into the facilities, one cannot taste the superior, subtle flavor of the food. Some of the service people also wear too much chemical fragrance. These unnecessary strong odors interfere with what you do best as a restaurant, i.e. prepare and serve fine cuisine for those of us with fine palettes.

Wine was nice but service was nonexistent

By Amber G |

This was the single worst experience I have ever had from a trip advisor choice. I would have given it zero stars if I could. We had reservations for 2:15. It was a nightmare to find, but we arrived at 2:10. The few tables on the patio were taken so we went inside where there were 3 tables of maybe a total of 7 patrons. 5 of which were getting ready to leave. At 2:22 just as I was checking my watch and my husband was literally throwing his napkin on the table to leave someone came and took our drink order. To their credit the wine we had was fabulous, but it arrived 10 minutes after we ordered. We declined to order food and had our drinks paid and left. I would not suggest going there unless you want to waste your time.

Delicious local PacNW food

By loveDCA |

Place Pigalle is right behind the place where they throw fish at Pike's Place - putting it in the heart of the tourist destination. But don't let that stop you from going because the instant you step inside, you're immersed in a quiet and classy restaurant with amazing views, delicious food, and great service. I started the night with their potato soup that was delicious and went well with the salmon dish. All were fresh and well-presented, and went great with the red wine from sinister wineries. Dessert was an apple crisp that was also delicious.

Don't miss the mussels!

By krissullivan |

Sublime service and food and lovely atmosphere. Loved this place so much!! I am a fan of mussels and was overjoyed to find them on the menu. This version was quite tasty with bacon, celery, shallots, and balsamic vinaigrette. We learned from speaking with the waiter that they came over from Whidbey Island on the ferry that morning. Beet salad was also wonderful as was the Northwest Bouillabaisse....but I will dream about the mussels!!

Dreaming of those scallops!

By allygirl_05 |

Good service and genuinely delicious food. I enjoyed my calamari appetizer, but I dream about the scallops I had as an entree. The place is fairly small, so was happy someone had suggested reservations to us.

Waitress, service

By Daniel M |

Horrible, waitress over charged card by 100 then loudly complained she didn't get a tip even before we left table, avoid at all cost , so many better and respectful places to eat , JUST YUK

An interesting restaurant tucked away in Pike Place Market

By rkacruiser |

Good to very good food (the mussels and crusty bread were delicious) and service was pleasant. It is a small restaurant with tables close together and lots of hard surfaces, so the noise level was high. Good view of the Bay and the mountains from the tables near the windows on the West side of the restaurant. We were seated on the North side and the view was just OK. My dining party was pleased with our experience.

Tiny but Really GOOD

By busconi |

We were here on Mother's Day...you can imagine how crowded the restaurants were...but we found a spot at the bar at Place Pigalle. We had read the reviews ahead of time so we had the impression the food would be delicious and the service attentive....our impressions were confirmed. First off, views from this restaurant are outstanding out to the sound and the Olympics. The restaurant is on the smaller side (like many of the other Market Restaurants) but it has a nice feel and atmosphere. Sitting at the bar we had the almost undivided attention of the bartender (Awesome Ted) I ordered a Gin Gimlet and Ted, after a little cajoling, showed me his technique. I have to say, it was THE BEST gin gimlet I have ever had. Now to replicate at home!!!! Ordered the Roasted Chipotle Chicken Sandwich... Open-Faced, Charred Poblano Peppers, Arugula, Chipotle Pepper Aioli, on toasted Crostini. We shared a dessert...the vanilla creme brulee....very nice ending to our lunch. We enjoyed this restaurant, the view, the atmosphere, the service and the food. Would come back again in a heartbeat.

Excellent dining spot

By Natalia A |

Second time here and the food is excellent! They are a little busy, even during the week , so reservations are highly encouraged.

Unbelievable service!

By ray l |

We dropped in with no reservation. We are a sales team of 10 people, who got out of our meetings early and went to Pikes Place. Service her was unbelievable! They were so welcoming and helped us out tremendously. Restaurant is small- we were there early so that helped us. Food was excellent. The Salmon and Tuna were huge hits. View and history of this little restaurant are fantastic too!

Just do it—hidden dining gem, no regrets

By Michelle W |

Save yourself a lot of time. Come here for amazing seafood, service, and a unique and satisfying dining experience. Wild caught Alaskan salmon and veg were amazing. Bread never ending if you like that, calamari was stunning, dessert don’t get me started. I will always come back here when visiting Seattle.

Frenchish

By Edmund1020 |

You need to negotiate the acrophobia inducing short stairway to get to the door but once there you will have a fine meal. This is a casual place but with white table cloths. The food is Frenchish. The portions are generous and the food is excellent. The service prompt, courteous, and knowledgable. The prices are on the high side with the entries around the mid thirties. I'll be happy to return here anytime.

Solid COVID experience

By Galliwampus |

This is one of my favorites and they've responded to COVID admirably, with charming staff and resourceful chef. Tucked behind the fish-throwers, you'll feel like you found a secret refuge. This time we got the warm beet salad, which was soooooooo good. (In the past I've recommended the mussels and the calamari dijonnaise, both still solid). Great cocktails. Place Pigalle peeps, I am so happy to see you pull through this!

Place Pigalle Restaurant and Bar

By Geoff W |

This is a good restaurant that is moderately priced in a tourist area of Seattle. The muscles as a starter and the salmon as a main meal are the picks from the menu for me. There is a good choice on the menu and the service was excellent.

My favorite place for fish

By TrvlAdvntr |

Place Pigalle is a small place (maybe 12 tables accommodating fewer than 50 people), but with a big heart. The staff are all very welcoming and helpful. The menu is French and leans toward seafood, but has all the usual bistro items from mussels to steak frites. Prices are a bit on the high side, but is excellently prepared from the highest quality ingredients. Located in Pike Place Market, adjacent to where they throw fish, you can bet the seafood is as fresh as it can be. Window seats have a nice view of Elliot Bay and the ferries and in nice weather, there are a few tables outside. If you want the best salmon or halibut in Seattle, this is where I'd go!

Another fab visit :)

By PDXtraveller707 |

Had another fab lunch at this elegant, magical little place :) Loved it! We try to make it a stop on every visit to Seattle - mussels were the best, as was the wonderful sparkling rose by the glass... And the view of the sound and mountains beyond was ridiculous!

Special place, special friends.

By Matthew X C |

Place Pigalle was the perfect fit for a return visit and gathering place for 2 other couples for an introduction! Always have admired the Pike's Market vintage charm of the restaurant but in full sun midday all of the details, warmth and nuanced French cuisine combined with spectacular view made 6 very happy guests. Something for everyone and many shared tastes from escargot, country pate, perfect salads, pasta vegan fare and of course, French bread served with attentive charm. The introductions were for friends visiting from the Gascogne region and local friends due to travel there.

Fav spot in Seattle

By Thomo_A |

One of my fav spots in Seattle. Consistently top class. Usually start with the moules and/or the Calamari Dijonnaise. And then most times will have the Bouillabaisse.

Impressed Foodie Guests: Tender Octopus, Rabbit Roulade, Perfect Pork...

By mstarrynight |

Friends who are in the travel industry came to visit us. Invited them to Place Pigalle. The four of us ordered: rabbit roulade, octopus with sausage, pork loin, and the Northwest Bouillabaisse. We knew it was going on to be a tasting dinner: we were all going to taste each other’s meals. We started with a delicious (and very reasonably priced) Washington voignier and Macrina bread. The rabbit came naturally sweetened and incredibly tender. If Place Pigalle is the first place you try rabbit, you will LOVE it for LIFE. The octopus arrived moments later, so tender and so beautifully subtle. The theme of tender morsels continued when the bouillabaisse arrived with extraordinarily tender chucks of fruits de mer: scallops, salmon, mussels. And then the pork arrived...Betty wa delighted and we were all wowed. Thanks, Place Pigalle, for preparing dishes that even my international foodie friends were delighted. Will be back.

The Top of My Seattle Restaurant List

By MarySchaffer |

A friend wanted to take us to Place Pigalle. I was concerned because I thought it was just another bad tourist restaurant. I was totally wrong. Place Pigalle is excellent - the food is excellent - the service is excellent We had a wonderful lunch First - make a reservation so you can get a window or a patio table. This is not a large restaurant, so tables are a premium. We had New England Clam chowder which was perfect.. The Bitter Greens and Beans salad was a knock out - i think i could eat this every day. i order Northwest Bouillabaisse, which the restaurant calls "the Boo". Another outstanding dish. And all three deserts were incredible. To top it off before hand, they made a perfect Kir Royal. This is now on the top of my Seattle restaurant list. EXCELLENT.

A Hidden Gem

By Sonja J |

While talking to the guys at the Fish Market, CJ tells us of a restaurant right behind them, Place Pigalle. It's really hard to miss because it's the only place behind the fish market. Now we were looking for seafood but when we ordered it was not seafood. They have a great variety of French cuisine. This little restaurant seats 69 people. It doesn't look like much but the view (we sat at table #1 - looking out over Pugent Sound) is very nice. It is a bit pricey but I'd pay that much again for this delicious food. For starters we ordered a cup of the Daily Market soup which was butternut squash bisque with dungeness crab on top. I could have eaten more than a cup of that! For our entrees, hubby ordered the Liver Pate and I ordered the Rabbit Cassoulet. I'm not fond of liver but took a bite and it was good but my rabbit was DA BOMB!!! The waitress called it comfort food and boy howdy, was it ever! I wasn't going to order dessert but hubby wanted something so we shared. I don't even know what it was called but it was chocolate with homemade whipped cream. The chocolate was very thick too. Yes, it was very good!

Great Food with Beautiful View

By PattieVeee3 |

I had a wonderful dinner there while attending a conference in Seattle. They had to have the best French Onion soup I have ever had. Main course was outstanding as well. The only odd thing I noticed was that the waiter asked if I wanted bread and then charged me for it. I’ve never encountered that anywhere else.

An Underwhelming Taste of Paris -

By Sue A |

I met some friends at Place Pigalle instead of our usual Cafe Campagne, which was closed for the month of Oct., for brunch and was greatly disappointed. I hadn't been there for years and remembered why I hadn't returned after reading the menu. There was no vegetarian option nor subtlety in the flavors used. What would have been a very delicious creamy tomato soup was saturated with smoke flavoring and the beet salad, which had quite a few items left out to make it vegetarian, was overloaded with a strong honey-mustard dressing. My friends had escargot which they said was too salty as was the calamari. My only friend who was satisfied had the fois gras platter. The meeting is quite wonderful overlooking the sound, but it was dampened by the unsatisfying meal.

So good we came back the next day too!

By tougo |

We love having lunch here. After a walk thru the busy market it’s nice to come into the calm of this restaurant. It’s so cozy and has great views of the waterfront. We had the onion soup and it was so amazing we came back for it again the next day! Service is always excellent, and they have great wines that pair perfectly with the menu. Can’t wait to come back.

Great food with a nice view

By Hannah H |

We had arrived in Seattle on Friday morning and had gone to Pike Place Maket for the tourist stroll. Asked a fellow at the Pike Place Fish Market where there was a good restaurant for dinner. He pointed to Place Pigalle. We were able to make reservations for 5:30 that evening, a surprise given the excellent food and view of Puget Sound. We began our meal with an half dozen oysters. My wife ate a warm beet salad. It was delicious, but huge. The soup of the day was a fine tomato vegetable with chorizo. Delightfully spicy. My wife ordered the King Salmon special. It was about a 6 oz piece served with crab. I ate the octopus-country sausage with white beans and parmagiano. It resembled a cassoulet. Excellent and much more than I could eat. We enjoyed dining so much, we will be back next week when we return from Victoria BC.

A terrible dining experience which supposedly should have been good.

By R K L |

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Since we dine out frequently and generally patronize our many favorite restaurants, we decided to try a different and supposedly highly-rated one for this occasion...Place Pigalle in Pike Place Market. We often rely heavily upon Trip Advisor reviews when we travel throughout the world, and on average, the Overview ratings are pretty accurate. So we were looking forward to this dining experience. However, a word to the wise in order to minimize surprises, we should have read some of the negative comments, as well as the favorable ones, because as luck would have it our experience was definitely at the lowest end of the scale. We arrived twenty minutes after our reservation due to Uber problems but had called to let the restaurant know. We were cheerfully greeted and promply seated at a great table by the windows. We decided upon wine selections and again reviewed the menu which we had seen online. The restaurant had a good feel to it but was a bit noisy for being able to just carry on a conversation. After a number of minutes, the young lady who had seated us came back around to inquire how we were doing. Upon hearing that we had not even seen our server yet, she took our wine order and said that Guy would be our waiter. We got our wines, placed our salad and entree orders and proceeded to enjoy our evening. The Washington Apple and Endive salad, as well as the Mixed Greens salad, were very tasty and arrived promptly, and we declined to order bread when asked. Guy religiously asked if we needed more wine, but we declined that as well because we were ready for our entrees. In hindsight, we should have ordered bread to eat because after nearly an hour we were fed up with waiting for food and asked Guy to explain the delay. When my Duck Breast and my spouse's Osso Bucco finally arrived, Guy offered that the kitchen had become "overwhelmed" with orders. Really? We were famished and proceeded to consume the nicely-presented meals. It was only after I had tried a few bites of the "duck" and shared a piece with my spouse that I noticed there were potatoes instead of rice, and there was no detectable choy sum, as per the menu. When we called Guy over again, he said that "the kitchen must have plated it wrong" and that he would correct it. The entree he brought back about ten minutes later was COMPLETELY different. The "duck" was a different meat than I had tried prior and there clearly was now rice and choy sum. Our guess was that Guy had served me the wrong meal. Sadly, the person who may have ordered the dinner which I started eating was now going to experience a further delay also. Although the food which was ultimately served was delicious, I had lost my appetite after waiting for almost two hours. My spouse needed to eat and quickly scarfed down the entree (without really being able to enjoy it much), and I tried several pieces of duck before asking that the meal be boxed. To their credit, the restaurant said that they would comp the entrees due to the problem. We just wanted to leave, so decided to forgo dessert and after dinner drinks. Although our bill for the wine and salads was only $50, we left a $20 gratuity which Guy suggested was very generous under the circumstances. Probably so! Although we cannot say that we would never return, as some of the Trip Advisor reviews have indicated, we definitely will neither be back very soon nor recommend it. It was a very special evening which was spoiled by a terrible dining experince which supposedly should have been good per Trip Advisor reviews.

Great location, fabulous food

By Michael C |

Open Table Reservation for 6:45, arrived 6:30, maitre'd sat us, but then moved us to a table at the window when it became available - much appreciated. Beautiful waterfront view includes the constant shuttling ferries. Bouillabaisse is excellent and strongly recommended by this reviewer. Wife's five scallops were delicious. Spent over 2.5 hours there socializing, eating, and drinking. Did not feel rushed in the least. Superb dining experience start to finish.

Beautiful, quiet escape from market

By GMJinTN |

We asked our tour guide where to eat lunch in the market. This was his #1 choice and it is right behind the throwing fish guys. The location is incredible and it is quiet and relaxed. We were happy to get the last table outside, but it was very sunny and warm. They had one umbrella, but it wasn't where the sun was most of the time. All of this would have been ok, but it took a long time for our food to come out and this was 1:30 on a Monday (place was not packed). We ordered soup, wilted greens salad, mussels and bread ($5 up charge for bread also seemed a bit steep). Bread finally came out, but no explanation on when the rest of our food would come out. When it arrived, it was great. Would we go back? Yes, it is a lovely little spot and food was good, but plan to be there a while and maybe wait for the shady tables.

Little French Gem

By Ann S |

Our family tried Place Pigalle based on a recommendation from a local couple. We all had something different and were not disappointed. The goat cheese on the roasted beer salad was the creamiest I have ever tasted. My husband is still raving about the warm bitter greens salad. Delicious food, wonderful service and an amazing view of the Sound.

For the right occasion...

By Ronald M |

I didn’t know if I should make this a very good or excellent rating. I chose the excellent because the meal I had was just that, excellent! I had the special of that day, pan fried/baked wild salmon from the waters around Vancouver, I didn’t leave anything on the plate! The food is a little pricey, but I really enjoyed the service, location, and most of all the food. My wife had a mixed shell fish meal, and she just left the shells...fun for the foodie!

A Seattle Favorite

By travfromLA |

I had a wonderful experience dining here some 20 years ago and didn't expect it to still be in business when I returned to Seattle recently. It was a pleasant surprise to find it still there and better than ever. The setting and somewhat hidden location is special. The food and service is excellent and the views don't hurt either. I highly recommend. The owner/staff are very caring and attentive.

Cosy and expensive

By Jose B |

Little corner of France in Seattle, lovely food …small portions and high prices. Very recommended for their wine selection and cosy atmosphere

Cozy restaurant at Pike Place Market

By Jim T |

The hotel we stayed at recommended Place Pigalle for a last minute Saturday dinner reservation for three. The restaurant is up a flight of stairs and has an outside balcony. We had a table inside. The food was fine but not spectacular. The oysters we ordered were huge but not very tasty. Our waiter said they were from north Puget Sound, not the best oysters we ever had. We also had the bitter greens and beans, probably the best dish of the night. For entrees, we had the bouillabaisse, pork chop and the pasta special (mussels) but none of the dishes were memorable. There is a bread service charge. Service was spotty. We waited more than 15 minutes before the waiter came to our table. We ordered a half bottle of white wine but wasn't chilled. When he served it, it was at the wrong temperature. He did put it into an ice bucket which helped. I'd give service three stars at best.

A great place for a special meal with old friends

We were visiting Seattle from the UK and our old friends took us out to this restaurant at Pikes Place Market. We had a lovely table by the window with a view of the sunset to accompany the fantastic food.

Perfect spot

Stumbled on this place during a beautiful Seattle afternoon. Sat outside with a gorgeous view, very friendly service and delicious food. The lunch certainly lingered because we didn’t want to leave!

Get there early!

We stumbled upon this place walking through the market. Holy cow! The women got the clam chowder and absolutely loved it get the baguettes. I had the duck confit one of the best meals of my life. My buddy got the bouillabaisse it was huge. Service was great!

Accommodating!

A Very Pleasant Surprise

I never expected to find an upscale French Restaurant in Pike Market. When we happened past the terrace it just looked right, it was. Popped in got in without reservations and had a very nice dinner.. will definitely visit again on future visit to the city.

The food is absolutely amazing as well the environment of the restaurant. You have an amazing view with good vibes. Not that expensive. Definitely 100% worth it !

Hidden gem

By Tito717 |

We never would have found Place Pigalle amid the craziness of the market had we not been looking for it -- directions from the info booth were necessary. Arriving for a late lunch, we found the dining room to be small, serene, timeless in style, with big windows overlooking the Sound. Our server was very charming and helpful (even recommending some good restaurants for later in our stay). Food was delicious, traditional French bistro fare. The onion soup with a glass of wine was a perfect lunch for a gray day. Mussels, greens, baguettes -- all excellent as well. Hope you like butter!

Fantastic French Bistro in Pike Market. Great Seafood

By BAA1949 |

Great French style bistro overlooking the water with fabulous seafood. I had a cup of chowder. Some warm, crusty French bread, and the plumpest, sweetest most delicate tasting mussels I have ever had. That and a glass of rose made for a perfect lunch

Quaint, out of the hustle and bustle of the market

By wannago2015 |

Beautiful location, small and sophisticated restaurant, tucked behind the fish mongers with a gorgeous view overlooking the harbor. The mussels were fabulous, served differently than most, in a rich brown sauce with butter, vinegar and bacon. Crab cakes also very good as well as the crafted cocktails. Lunch would be my preference to enjoy the views.

Delicious!

By Jane M |

We loved this restaurant! The staff were so lovely and friendly - they sat us at an amazing table right by the window overlooking the bay. The food was fabulous- I had the salmon with loads of delicious veggies and balsamic glaze, Lovely Husband had the duck cassoulet. We had a great bottle of local red, recommended by our smashing waitress, and followed our mains with an apple crisp (not too sweet - perfect!) for me and creme brûlée for LH. We highly recommend La Place Pigalle!

Could have been so much better.

By 2muchfun4us |

Highly recommended by the fish market next door but so disappointing. Late opening the patio with no set up and a very rude waitress. Getting off a cruise we wanted to extend our vacation. Seating complicated. Service inattentive. Waitress argumentative. Ordered rose wine. That neither looked or tasted like rose. Received a real rose and was overcharged for both. Food took an hour to come out but was OK.

Quiet French restaurant tucked behind Pike Market - this is THE spot!

By jigregor |

This is the spot to enjoy a wonderful casual, yet elegant, French lunch as part of visiting Pike Market. Food - outstanding! Ambiance - French and intimate, with both indoor seating (only 2-3 tables with a view of the water) and several outdoor tables with a view if the weather is good. Go the main entrance of Pike Market, and look up & to the left for the Place Pigalle sign...it will guide you to the entrance behind the Market in its own oasis. Wonderful oysters, nice wine list both by the glass and bottle and an evolving menu that takes the daily fresh ingredients from the market itself. I only wish to have found this spot earlier rather than trying a myriad of other (very so-so) restaurants in Pike Market. Place Pigalle is "the spot!" Wonderful story as well from a hotel to brother to a farm to table restaurant - you'll enjoy reading the story as displayed on the menu. Place Pigalle...keep up the wonderful work!

A hidden gem

By onygo12 |

at the Market we discovered many years ago. It remains a favorite whenever we are nearby. French cafe atmosphere overlooking the water, the menu is terrific. Their steamed mussels are incredible—not to be missed! Wonderful, crunchy baguettes...fun wine list. Enjoyed onion soup and a northwest bouillabase.

Great little waterfront restaurant

By Marcia R |

My husband and I ate here on May 23 after a long day at Mt. Ranier. The restaurant is located at Pikes Market and has a lovely water view. The onion soup and bouillabaise are fantastic. French 75 is also very good. In addition the hostess and waitress were wonderful. Highly recommend this little restaurant for a pleasant evening out

Charming, intimate space with a view of the waterfront—you look right out toward the Seattle Great Wheel. They are known for serving the freshest seasonal ingredients that they are able to find at the market, and the menu choices certainly reflect that. There are a few items that have been on the menu for decades and one of them, Calamari Dijonnaise, is so wonderful you will be hard pressed not to order it every time you visit. This place definitely has personality and it is clear that they want you to have a good experience. Order one of their fresh salads and a seafood choice, pair it with a bottle of Chablis and take in the hawks that often fly over the waterfront. Check out my photos for more details.

Delicious tucked away restaurant in the market

By Varda L |

We had a fabulous lunch at Place Pigalle, wouldn’t have knows it’s there as tucked away in Pikes place market. Tina looked after us beautifully and made the whole experience even better. Food and wine was delicious, had the warm beet salad and my friend the clam chowder. Extensive wine list, just look at the racks on the wall! Very relaxing given how busy the market can be, with views of the water. Definitely recommended. Thank you!

Two Thumbs Up From Me & My Visiting Brother

Excellent atmosphere. Very cozy, intimate yet comfortable & warm. Great view from our window table. My halibut was unbelievably good. My brother enjoyed his crab cakes and calamari. We both started with a very fulfilling cup of onion soup. Definitely will visit again soon.

Bistro with a View

Dodge the flying fish in the Market and wander the back walkways to find this French bistro gem. Excellent French wines and steak frittes with a view of the ferries heading out to the islands.

Outstanding Restaurant at Pike Street Market.

By PapaJRT |

One of the best restaurants in Seattle in a very unique location with a ton of history. Some outside seating available. Delicious classic and modern French food in a welcoming and comfy cozy location you can even watch the sunset. We will go back! P.S. The mussels and the broth are to die for.

Place Pigalle Always!

By Kim P |

Place Pigalle has always been my favorite Seattle restaurant. I was in town for business and was able to stop in. I just had the perfect lunch. Cup of saffron clam chowder, mussels in some delicious concoction of bacon, balsamic vinegar and shallot in a thick broth, fresh baguette with butter and a glass of rose wine. ♥️ This is why I love this “Place” so much.

Better than tourist trap

By A Ernest S |

The location is in Pike Market in the heart of what is a very crowded tourist area. Place Pigalle is like sitting in a Greek hillside location overlooking Puget Sound. We expected mediocre food and we were so delightfully surprised by a well prepared, delicious meal. Our seafood was so fresh, we had no reason to doubt that it was today's catch. One diner had the mussels and said they were the best he had ever eaten. The salmon was so well prepared, hot, moist, fresh and brilliant color. We absolutely loved our meal and will come back in a heartbeat. Also must mention that our server was personable and a delight.

Oh, yum!

This little gem is perched above the gum wall at Pikes Place Market - a little hard to find but well worth it. I had the duck confit, which was perfectly delicious, and my husband's salmon special meal was equally good. Desserts stood out though - my crème brûlée was to die for and my husband's pot de crème was equally swoon-worthy. Service was friendly and unhurried. I'd eat here a lot if I lived in the city.

Great Oasis from the Market

It had been over 5 years since dinning at Place Pigalle. Nothing has changed from my previous dinning experience. The food was excellent, service attentive and setting hasn't changed (which is a good thing).

A Treat For All Five Senses

By Linda2601 |

We were road weary from a full day of air travel, and happened into Place Pigalle. Everything about our visit was nothing short of amazing. The weather was beautiful so the patio was full. We sat inside near an open window where we had a nice breeze, and a beautiful view of the Sound. It was very relaxing and peaceful. My memory can run short some days, so I am sad that I do not remember our servers name. She is the owners daughter and is a lovely young lady that is very hospitable and easy to have a conversation with. You will walk away having made a new friend in Seattle that you will look forward coming back to visit. We did not get too adventurous this time around, we both had the French Dip, my husband had fries with his, and I had the green salad. There was just something magical about the fries, the olive oil on the greens was a very nice variety, the onions on the sandwich were so delicious and sweet, the bread was amazing, and the most important part, the beef, it was not a deli cut. This was steak that was cut on the bias, seasons and cooked beautifully. We look forward to visiting again soon, and trying some other items.

Where the Seattle 'Freeze' is fully Defrosted!

After a fortunate flight delay I totally stumbled on this gem for a most memorable Seattle sendoff. Travelling alone the whole team were great company - with food and drinks to match. Certainly can't miss the opportunity to return - I will be back!

Best French dip!

By Kyndall A |

The place is very quaint with a lovely view. We were seated right away and our server Daniel was exceptional. My daughter had the Madame Croquet and loved it (impressive since she’s super picky). The French dip was the best I have ever tasted! Next time we are in town I will definitely make sure we stop back in!

Felt like Europe and they went out of their way for us

By keepmovingmom |

Husband and I found Pike Place a bit overwhelming. We are not shoppers. Tucked away behind the fishmongers is this bit of France: small, unassuming but they know just what they are doing. We stopped by, admired the menu (husband focused on venison main course) and we made a reservation for the next evening. Arrived to find that they had changed the menu that very day - oh no! no venison. The waiter will ask - oh yes! - they have a bit left and the chef is happy to prepare it. Husband loved it. And, after so many restaurants on this Pacific Northwest trip, I finally get the delightful cheese plate I have been craving. Onion soup and pork loin also delicious. Wine list very reasonable. But the charm of the small place and the care of the service are what we will most remember, Worth finding!

Little place with European food in the middle of Pike Place market

By Inga B |

You have to know where this restaurant is located to get there. It is one of the best kept secrets of the Pike Place market. Don't go there if you are looking for American size meals. If you wish to enjoy European food, this is the place to go. Escargots are fantastic, mussels and oysters are great as well. The water view is amazing.

Delicious French food

By Rico R |

We visited Seattle for the first time and were looking for something new. This French restaurant did not disappoint. The chowder and french baguette are a must. The staff was very accommodating and nice! Will definitely come back before we leave the city.

A Slice of Paris in Seattle

By Megan E |

This was my second time eating at Place Pigalle. It really is a hidden gem hanging off the back of the market behind the fish guys. It's a quiet respite from the hustle of Pike Place Market and you can't beat the view! With the little bistro tables and dark wood and cozy space, you feel like you've been transported to a little spot in Paris. The service was great and the food was lovely. Always a solid choice.

Delightful Lunch

By Russ00 |

We had a great lunch of mussels and crab cakes with a glass of rose. we sat right by the window and enjoyed the view of the sound. The mussels had a very unique sauce that begged to be sopped up with bread. And the crab cakes were all crab and very well prepared. Not an inexpensive lunch, but well worth the price.

Great

The food is delicious! Great service! The dishes are cooked with care. Very unique flavor! Dishes ordered by the day are very fresh! Want to come back and enjoy

Quirky waiter and great food

By steven_newman1966 |

We were wondering thru the Pike market and stubbled across this charming kind of old world restaurant that offers you views of the Seattle waterfront. We arrived early enough to get seated , but what I understand from the hotel that we were staying at that this is a busy restaurant We were greeted by a nice gentleman who seated us in a private table . Once seated we were greeted by a quirky man named Guy We were entertained by his presentation of the specials and his stories . The restaurant became packed within 20 minutes of arriving and I must say that all of the staff was polite and efficient . The food was excellent and they did not rush you at all! They allow you to enjoy your drinks and savor the delicious food ! The dessert was also very nice ! Not to sweet and not to tart ! A must see & do in Seattle

Died and went to heaven

Treated myself on my last day in Seattle at this very special restaurant. Arrived around 11:45 and was seated at the side window. David took very good care of me with suggestions but I was on a mission since a friend insisted I order the Mussels. I also ordered the Escargot. First the Escargot- soaked in butter with Tarragon served with crispy bread which I dunked into the little snail holders. I paired with an Oregon Pinot Noir. Next the mussels which didn't disappoint. Bacon, celery and herbs are slow simmered creating a rich sauce with the mussels presented with their open shells served up. I wanted to pick up the dish and drink it all in. Even though it's in Pike's Place, this restaurant is high end and fabulous! Go there!

Good but trapped by Pike's Place Market

By weyl-59 |

This is a good French cafe but not quite where it should be. Surprising that it's in such a tourist location. We had a good dinner, excellent oysters, and good white wine. But there was not really a French cafe style. Service was reasonable, but tables should have been more spaced out due to covid. Note that it's not easy to thread your way through the Market and find the cafe. Go to the back on the left and look for signs.

Nice view but croque madame overpriced

By toujoursenroute |

A nice little spot with a view of the water. I should have ordered a fish dish. I just wanted a snack for a late lunch and found the croque madame to be bland and uninspired and overpriced. The service was also underwhelming.

Stopped for lunch

What a neat place. Seated on the patio on the 4th of July afternoon for appetizers and a glass of wine. Our short visit and the service provided made us want to return and we will on our next visit to this city.

Amazing food with a view to match

By Steve G |

Prior to our Alaska cruise, we had the good fortune of having an amazing dinner here with equally exceptional service. Our waiter Guy was delightful and steered us with expert guidance through each course. We started with a bottle of champagne to toast a great day and eventually moved to the foie gras and mussels. Next we had an amazing French onion soup and Washington apple salad. Our main course was the lamb osso bucco and venison medallions. Just incredible and the entire time we watched the sun set over the Seattle Sound. Can not recommend enough!

Great place, great views

By Mike S |

What a great surprise! Walked in about 1:30 pm on a Thursday, not busy. Excellent food—the bitters greens and bean warm salad was particularly delicious, as were the crab cakes

Subpar food

By Expedition501394 |

We had a terrfic meal here several years ago and visited for the second time this September 2020. The duck confit was oily and served with half raw half cooked apples in a sweet sauce which was unedible. My husband's burger was low quality and probably the worst burger patty we've had in the US. The french fries the kids ordered were edible but neither fresh nor crisp. The waitress was also quite pushy. We will definitely not be coming back.

It was Sublime!

By aficianada |

My colleague and I arrived for lunch Seattle time, but really hungry because we had been traveling all day. Unless you look up and read the ceiling signs at Pike Market you could miss this gem! The view is incredible. The restaurant is small, which is charming, even with a bright blue ceiling. My colleague ordered the crab cakes and I ordered the bouillabaisse. Once our lunch arrived, we barely said a word because the food was great! I do not remember the last time I enjoyed bouillabaisse like this except my mother’s old Julia Child recipe. It’s pricey for lunch but so worth it!

Beautiful view with French bistro feel

Our hotel recommended place Pigalle for lunch and we could not have been happier with the recommendation. Beautiful view from a place that feels like a French bistro. Delicious food and wonderful service and all handled with complete Covid safety.

Fabulous lunch oasis at Pike Place Market

By Kathy M |

We came across Place Pigalle accidentally and wandered in. How fortunate. It was an elegant quiet oasis in the midst of the Saturday crowds at Pike Place Market? The staff was attentive and friendly. We enjoyed lovely glasses of white wine and their Dungeness crab cakes with fresh salad and baguette. A perfect relaxing lunch.

Hidden gem

By Athena G |

This was a great place hidden a bit behind the main portion of Pike Place Market. It's a small place because of that I recommend making reservations. The menu changes daily, so don't expect to find old favorites. They have a somewhat small selection but it was fantastic. Their menu was not the standard fare, rabbit and duck were the specials of the day. They also have an especially good bartender who makes excellent cocktails.

Place Pigalle Restaurant and Bar

This is a good place for a meal. The signature dish is salmon and it was cooked perfectly. There is a good selection of seafood and other dishes on the menu.

Nice view and good food for lunch.

Happened in for lunch one day. Food was above average. Service was nicely paced and attentive. The over Puget Sound on a sunny day was an extra benefit.

Exceptional Old School Seattle Restaurant with Stunning Views!

By Fred M |

Finding the restaurant is not easy, but once you locate off Pike's Place Market, you can see the stunning views of the water. The restaurant is old school Seattle and is small and cozy with excellent service and cuisine. Cocktails are perfectly made, and the restaurant has a fine wine list. Food was excellent, and everything we ordered was perfect. The venison rack; the pate; the oysters; the halibut---everything was cooked perfectly. Service was professional and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant and will most definitely return.

An oasis in the hustle and bustle of the market

Sweet little restaurant, very good waitresses, cosy very good bouillabaisse and mussels with delicious bread - a nice haven of peace away from the Jussel of the Pike market - worth going

Ageing Very Well!

By Bob S |

I visited Place Pigalle many years ago on a short Seattle vacation. Very recently my wife and I were again visiting Seattle and found ourselves in Pike Place Market and outside Place Pigalle looking over the menu. It was such a beautiful evening and we were so hungry Place Pigalle was an easy choice - turned out to be a perfect one. We were greeted like old friends, seated at a table with a view of the Sound, and quickly served a perfect rose (80 degrees outside). I had the rabbit (and would have eaten it every day for a week). My wife had the endive salad and said it was a perfect meal. Be warned - Place Pigalle is the kind of place where the waiters might break into song at any moment ((and the table next to you might join in). That's because everyone seems to be having a terrific shared experience. We left very happy. Some things don't change. And sometimes, that's a good thing!

Quaint restaurant with water views

By DBLJAM |

We had an early dinner before the theater and they accommodated our quick meal without compromising service or quality of the food. We had French onion soup and pate for appetizers- both perfect. For entrees we had the French dip and scallops. the meat in the sandwich was thick and well roasted. The scallops were beautifully seared. We want to go back for a more leisurely dinner next time.

Took my future in laws.... what a lovely dining experience! I cannot describe the comfort and Excellent dining experience...

Great food, charming space with a view, and excellent service!

By globalfinder312 |

Located close to the Pike Street entrance of the market and behind the flying fish, Place Pigalle delivers delicious French classics and PacNW flavors. The space is cozy but offers space between tables. My favorites are those on the west windows, which afford a view of the Washington State Ferries, the ferris wheel, and on a clear day the Olympic Mountains. There is a French onion soup that would hold its own in Paris, along with mussels, croquet madame, and a wonderful baguette. But there is also Dungeness crab and salmon. Desserts are as good as the entrees. The bittersweet pot de creme is amazing. The service was (and always has been) friendly, professional, and caring. This is a highly recommended place for foodies.

Good view but not great food

By DocHarrisHHI |

Visiting from Hilton Head Island and went here with my son and his lady... The location in Pike Place Market and views of the water front are excellent... A small place so we sat at the bar for drinks to wait for a "view table" that we had requested with our reservation... Bartender was great and had excellent offerings for everyone... They kept us informed of the tables progress and we were seated in about 15 minutes... Not an issue because of excellent drinks and a great bartender... The food was was very good, the server excellent and the dinner service was paced from the small kitchen very well... All in all a very good experience but the 4 rating was based on over priced drinks, but this seems to be a Seattle thing...

Wonerful view, good food with a French flair

By lainim |

You'll want a view, so I recommend getting a reservation for a good table. Best choices, in my opinion, are the seafood items -- capitalizing on the fish market just steps away. Their unique cocktails are pricy, but delightful!. The owner, a friendly Frenchman, is welcoming and attentive.
