Fabulous food. And even if you are a meat eater, you will not miss it in the least. The Meringue dessert I had was the best, most complex flavor combination I have ever enjoyed. Chocolate, texture, tropical tart fruit puree...heaven.

The worst service all around in the restaurant. As a vegan I have eaten here several times, and every time the food has been worse and worse. The service is absolutely unacceptable though.

I am so glad I could visit Plant Food + Wine. By the hippy-chic promenade of Venice a place for great food lovers. The entrance is discrete but both the inside and the patio grant a cool atmosphere in limpid and soft colors. The food is both safisfying and healthy with an obsessive attention to plating. The smashing colors of the food make your day. One time is not enough for a lifetime. I will definitely be back 🇺🇸🍸

I am not a vegan but that was the best food I've had in a long time. Nice little patio at the back. I recommend the raclette.

The food is 100% delicious. The flavors are amazingly balanced. From starters, mains, salads (the kale salad is amazing! With coriander dates!!!), Mushroom burger, avocado toast... amazing variety of all Organics wines, local Bears! Super fresh, delicious and beautiful desserts. One of my favorite restaurants in the world. Every plate has something special and they're all beautiful to appreciate with all your senses🙏🙏🙏 Must go and must see! The garden is magical.. You'll feel you're in Italy.. Or in some sort of love bubble.. Under the fig and olive trees... Then you tell me about!

A cute vegan restaurant, tucked away near Venice Beach. I had the zucchini lasagna, which was really great. Not a lot of choices on the menu, there were more wine choices, but what we had was great. The portions are small and a little pricey. We ate on the patio, which is beautiful, especially when the lights are on after dark. Reservations are advised.

Most vegan restaurants are terrible: the menu concepts are terrible, the food is sloppily executed, poorly plated and inelegantly served. Throw all of those ideas out the window to allow room for Mathew Kenney's brilliantly conceived and flawlessly executed Plant Food & Wine. Everything is plant-based and fresh, everything is artistically plated and elegantly served. The garden in the back of the restaurant is where you have to sit--if it's chilly, sit under a heat lamp. The garden exudes charm and is the perfect setting to enjoy all of those perfectly conceived and plated dishes. I have taken two carnivores to dine here and even they were completely floored by how beautiful and delicious everything was.

What a lovely dinner on the back patio! The setting is like being at your closest friends house and the food was delicious! Clean options with so much flavor and wonderful presentation. It was the perfrct setting for catching up with friends.

My daughter and I wanted to try something new (for us) on Abbott Kinney. She'd heard that Plant Food + Wine was good, and boy was it! The back patio created a beautiful ambiance, the service was lovely and the food was fantastic. This is a no meat place but it doesn't miss a thing. Fantastic flavors. Highly recommended!

Great food. Great service. Great ambience. Great location. Refreshing with an all vegan restaurant. Some gluten free options too.

The restaurant has a very relaxing and clean feel to it on the inside, and a large charming beautiful patio out back. Our server was not knowledgeable on the menu but he was very nice and kept having to go and ask someone for answers to our questions. Beware that this is an expensive place where nothing is complimentary ! We were charged $7.00 for one slice of bread and 1 tablespoon of their nut butter. It was delicious, but certainly NOT worth $7.00!!! The Poutine was NOT like the traditional Canadian version, but simply boiled potatoes with a very small amount of brown gravy. We ask for extra gravy and was charged $3.00 for an extra 2 tablespoons!!! We were quite disappointed. The Butternut Squash Ravioli was also a disappointment as it was 3 pieces of ravioli filled with some sort of mushroom filling and a very small amount pureed butternut squash over them. The dish they called SOCCA was just not good at all!!!!! We decided to skip dessert , not wanting to take a chance on the very unique options that we would pay a fortune for two bites of !!!!!

Great experience, great place and awesome food. Service was excellent too. We really enjoy everything. Exactly what we were looking for.

We had an early dinner outside. Staff is very attentive and the atmosphere nice and trendy. We ordered various dishes and asked for special adjustments to the menu for our kid. The food was good (apart from the Mac&cheese version for our little daughter which she rejected but asked for plain noodles instead of the rather untasty cheese). The atmosphere is excellent.

Amazing selection of vegetarian and vegan plates. From starters to main courses, full of flavor. Don’t miss the cheese sampler. Be sure to reserve the terrace.

I really wanted to like the food at PFW but it didn’t deliver. Nice outdoor patio and dining room. The waiter was ok but made some mistakes along the way that leave you wondering. He helped us decant a wine, and then he proceeded to pour another open bottle of wine on top of the decanted wine in the glass. I guess he was distracted but he was very apologetic as he ruined a $$$ glass of wine Raw lasagne 7/10 nut cheese ricotta was not very tasty. Mushrooms 7/10 polenta not good Cavatelli 9/10 decent sauce and well prepared Nut cheeses as app were enjoyable but the chèvre was tasteless 7/10 Brussel sprouts 7/10 I expected more. We were two couples and had a great time in the rustic setting outside despite the less then interesting food. Will be back to try this innovative spot again.

Our friends were married at Plant Food, and we had an absolutely FANTASTIC time at their wedding celebration! The outdoor venue was so gorgeous: sleek, modern design, wooden tables, very minimalist, but lots of foliage, plants, and trees. The tables for the guests were all different sizes, which added interest to the layout. The best touch was the many strings of white lights that really made the place look magical after the sun went down. All of that said, I cannot give this place five starts simply because I didn't like the food - but no fault of the venue. I'm about as far from a vegan as one can be. I can do vegetarian, but vegan is a bridge too far for me. I was apprehensive and thought I might end up going hungry for the evening, but fortunately the situation was not *that* dire. Lol The things I did like: the cashew baclette; the salad tossed with sunflower seed caesar; the hummus; and the veggie lasagna with macadamia ricotta cheese was all right. I actually REALLY liked the caesar salad and mostly filled up on that and the cashew spread. I wanted no part of anything associated with kale. The wine was a different matter entirely. It was INCREDIBLE! The outdoor bar was stunningly beautiful. I sampled sparkly wine, rose, white, red... you name it. All top notch. The wine experience mostly made up for the fact that I didn't love the food so much. All in all, it was an excellent event and beautiful, memorable wedding. My only other quibble is that, when I left, my bare legs were absolutely covered in bug bites that I acquired during dinner, and they took quite some time to heal (and I do not have any allergies).

We were a party of 6 who came for brunch and everyone left with full happy bellies. The service was great as well. We ate in the back patio area along with our dogs which was also lovely.

Somewhat out of center, this place in Venice has a terrace which was nice setting for a lunch in beautiful weather. We took different choices in entrees and desserts and all where satisfying. Tasteful, even without meat, fresh vegetables and inspired decorations and combinations. Service somewha5 distant but efficient.

The patio area is so nice at night! The menu is overpriced but the food is really good. The portions are a little small. The zucchini lasagna was not what I expected I expected real lasagna pasta noodles not zucchini strips but it was still good. The coconut cream pie is delicious but pricey.

The food here is really impressive. It's the first time I've come across vegan food created by a true foodie. I'm a real foodie myself and started following a purely plant based diet a few months ago. I've been frustrated by the lack of attention and care many top hotels and restaurants give to vegetarian food so this was a refreshing surprise. The outdoor patio is great too. Shade is provided by 4 or 5 mature olive trees. Even if you're not eating a veggie or vegan diet, give it a try. I can guarantee you'll be really surprised.

This is a vegan restaurant. With most vegan restaurants, one leaves thinking , " that was a healthy meal/" Here, one leaves thinking," that was incredibly creative and delicious!". No fake meats, just an enormously talented chef who blends tastes and textures in an exquisite fashion. Four of us, we all tried different dishes, shared - each dish was excellent. Lovely wine list, reasonably priced.

The food is pretty and inventively presented the flavor are sophisticated for vegetarian food, the garden is lovely. It was pleasantly quiet but still busy for both lunch when I went with a friend then dinner with my husband.

Incredible experience, fresh, creative, flavorful. Los Angeles is one of the food capitals and this place should be on top of the list of the best vegetarian restaurants in town. If you can, stop by during lunch and try to enjoy the outdoor patio.

Excellent vegan food, I have been here twice now and both times exceeded my expectations. The patio is lovely and romantic and the service is excellent. I recommend the little gem caesar, heirloom tomato & zucchini lasagna, the plant bowl, and the smoked hummus. Definitely will be back.

I was in town for one night on business. The hotel recommended this place and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Wonderful atmosphere and staff. Thank you for being so gracious and accommodating of one person dining alone last minute

Absolutely exceeds all expectations! Matthew Kenney had person himself this time. The vegan dishes are delightful and the ambience both inside and it is hipster Chic. Having champagne at lunch felt necessary! The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. A must visit.

I admit it. I generally avoid vegan restaurants. But my wife gets her turn to choose and off we went. Lunch on a Wednesday. The patio out back was idyllic. Sunny and warm and spring-like. My wife had the Kale salad $12 and loved it. I had the mushroom sandwich $14. It was to die for. Grilled mushrooms, some onion and truffle aioli on grilled crisp bread. Felt like I was cheating but it was heaven. My wife had ordered a white wine and we shared that and then I thought we should have another. Had I known it was $18 a glass I might have picked a less expensive wine but it was very tasty. So the total was $74 before tip but you may not have $36 in wine! It is also my wife's turn to choose dinner. Tonight we will be back here again trying the dinner menu and I will be sampling a less expensive wine! Cheers. It was great. Try it.

very pleasant location and relaxing atmosphere with an excellent service. we ordered an apetizer : smoked humus and a main course: zucchini lasagna and spicy peas noodles and both the taste and the presentation were impressive! Totally recommend it ,if you are in for a special vegan and vegetarian experience!

I was staying in Venice and this restaurant had been recommended to me as due to food intolerances I am a vegetarian who also doesn't eat much dairy. This restaurant is completely vegan and one thing I really liked about it is that they use inventive substitutes for dairy such as macadamia and coconut cream, which was great for me as I am really not keen at all on soy products. The choices all sounded amazing, I went for a vegan lasagna because it's a dish I love and don't get to eat much anymore due to problems with cheese. The desserts all sound delicious too. I had a tiramisu and then got a coconut cream pie to take out and they were both fantastic. The food was very tasty and very rich, and is literally presented like a work of art. Staff were polite and attentive and able to answer questions about ingredients. You can choose whether to sit indoors or outdoors. Outdoors is a lovely fairy-lit garden. I would just say don't underestimate that it can get quite cold in coastal LA as the evening comes in, because I was there without a jacket and wish I'd brought one or asked to sit inside by the end. The building is easy to miss from the outside and quite a way down Abbot Kinney from where it intersects with Venice Boulevard, but for any vegetarian or vegan or foodie looking for a different eating experience, I would urge you not to miss this. You get a lot of food for your money and it's very filling, as well as excellent service, but it is a more expensive restaurant so you are aware. I would definitely visit again when in the area.

If your looking fine dining and vegan, you’ll want to try this place. We had the Kale Salad, Roasted Brussel Sprouts, Heirloom Tomato Zucchini Lasagna, Aromatic Squash, all very yummy! If you like Coconut Cream Pie, save room for that. It’s the best I’ve ever had.

My daughter and I enjoyed a delicious and nutritious lunch here. We sat in the courtyard which is cosy and relaxing. The service was outstanding and friendly. Great choice of foods and wine. I chose the rose which was light and refreshing.

I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but I love eating vegetables and I'm always interested in plant-based foods. This place was so fun and the food was so delicious. I took my mom, who is not used to eating at places like this and she loved it. "That wasn't weird at all," she said. We had the raw lasagna, the cashew raclette (baked "cheese" course), the ravioli, the chocolate cake, the hearts of palm ceviche, and the banana split. (Hey, when in Rome-try everything.) Every single thing was great. Good service, too. We ate indoors because it was chilly while we were there and it had a nice atmosphere. The server was nice and explained terms we were unfamiliar with.

I'm so happy to have a strong recommendation for visitors to Venice Beach! I live in LA, but formerly in NYC and love restaurants. This will be my new go-to spot in VB and I can't wait to go back. Ate lunch here with a friend this week and the back garden is expansive and so relaxing. It's a great spot to catch a real VB vibe. The food is phenomenal--and I'm not a vegan! Everything looks beautiful on the plate, and is well-portioned. We shared 4 dishes, left full, yet without that "heavy" feeling. We had the cashew raclette with grilled bread, the mushroom veggie burger, the California chopped kale, and the kelp noodles cacio e pepe. I would eat all of them again! My friend had a sparkling rose that she enjoyed, and we also had the Tiramisu for dessert, which we really couldn't finish. Stick to 3 dishes for 2 people if you need dessert. :-) If you're visiting, skip the more highly-ranked restaurants and eat here (says a local!)

I've been a vegetarian for 35 years. (Okay I just almost fainted at the realization of how long it's been...) I love restaurants that have good options for vegetarians, and I TREASURE restaurants that offer exclusively vegetarian options, especially a fine dining experience that isn't a miso-mash of wraps, falafel and other items that seemed like a good idea because they didn't contain meat. Plant Food + Wine is a really good, fine dining experience for any vegetarian or vegan where we mostly enjoyed what we got, and appreciated the artistry that went into it. There outdoor seating area is lovely and preferred by most (as best we could tell) but we're not fans of discernible temperatures or wind so we sat inside which was also comfortable. My wife and I shared 4 items. We had the Baked Raclette, Kimchi Dumplings, Artisanal Cheese Plate, and Trumpet Mushrooms (and there's a lot more to choose from, much of which is also gluten free.) We especially loved the mushroom dish, it was the heartiest and freshest of the lot with a nice alfredo-like sauce creating a wonderful and satisfying eating experience. The dumplings were good, but we got it in our head, as dumplings often are, that they'd be warm and it was a cold dish...so good on it's own terms but not what we'd hoped for. The fill-in was also "cream-cheesy" which overlapped a lot in texture with what was on the cheese plate...so we felt like we had too much "faux cheese" going on The dumplings flavor was good, but we would have liked more of a vegetables based texture of some kind. These cheese plate...Full disclosure – I eat cheese. I like cheese. I have yet to meet a vegan cheese that really does the job. These looked gorgeous but were mostly similar in taste and texture – again more cream-cheesy (if you will) than hard or soft-cheesy which is what you really want on a cheese plate. The Panda Cotta we had for desert was DELICIOUS. We demolished it and very much appreciated the taste and texture. Well done. We definitely didn't leave hungry, and enjoyed much of what we ate. There's a lot more to try so we'll be back at some point.

Amazing ambience and food. One of the highlights of my meal was the kelp noodles cacio e pepe with snap peas, pea sprouts and crispy oil cured olives’. Perfectly balanced and addictive flavours all round that left me wanting seconds.

My husband and I enjoyed our early dinner outside in their lovely patio. Our first time here and we thought our server was quite knowledgeable. We started with the Grilled Lodge Bread which was very tasty and the vegan butter quite yummy. We just found it quite pricey for the portion. Based on our server’s recommendations, we tried the Coffee Rubbed Beech Mushroom which was flavorful but a bit salty, the Chickpea Socca which was also good but our least favorite, and the Truffle Potatoes which are worth going back for! I enjoyed the Passion of the Spice cocktail which was perfectly spicey and not so sweet.

This restaurant was recommended to us by fellow vegans. We found the atmosphere to be comfortable, relaxing, and trendy. We started with the cashew raclette; two of the three of our party really liked it, but one wasn't too thrilled. For the dinner entree, two of our party ordered the Roan Mills Polenta Bowl and the other ordered the Mushroom and Vegetable Burger with Kimchi potatoes as the side. The polenta bowl was okay, but the vegetable side dishes (roasted carrots and a cauliflower dish) were actually better. The burger was mushy, but a good mushy. The kimchi potatoes, however, were hiding an extremely hot sauce which was not discovered until there was too much in the mouth--whew!! At that point, we decided we had to try the dessert. I got the coconut cream pie, which was to die for. I would go back just for that! Another one of us got the strawberry hibiscus cheesecake--not a winner. The third got Gianduja chocolate cake that was soooo good. So, the general consensus is that we'd go back for dessert, wine, and the cherry kombucha, but skip the entrees. In addition, this place is really expensive, so be prepared!

Perfection from the beginning to the end. My friends and I went there on a Saturday for an early dinner, we didn't have reservation and we really wanted to seat on the patio. Our hostess was extremely sweet and accommodating, was able to seat us in this charming table surrounded by trees. The food was delicious, the kind that makes you keep craving for days. The presentation was superb, service was very discreet, not intrusive or interrupting, seamless. I had the zucchini lasagna, can't stop thinking about it. For appetizer we had the smoked hummus, OMG! Can't wait to go back

Delicately prepared dishes to the point where you forget you are eating vegan. Just to be clear I am not vegan and have no desire to be totally vegan but this can definitely turn a girl! This is where LA really excels so when we are in town we always eat vegetarian or vegan as its delicious. They really use the colour and the flavours of the dishes to present something mouthwatering on the plate - it's easy to miss it as LA presents so much great food but this is a definite must if you're in town Decor light and airy, soft and ambioic music with minimalistic features and it never seems overcrowded even when full, be sure to reserve to avoid disappointment...

This is really beautiful place with amazing food and garden. Me and my friend enjoyed our dishes. It's a bit pricey, but still worth it

We LOVE trying Veg and Vegan spots in and around LA when we visit from Montana such as Crossroads + many other superb places. Food was meh at Plant (will note the delicious hummus) but this place is a mess. We ordered "another round" and it took over 20 min. (meanwhile none of the plates from first or second courses were ever cleared - maybe LA'rs only have one course IDK but the table was getting smaller). After someone (not waiter) noticed we never got our drinks, they said they were "on it." Right, 10 min later the round came out: a mocktail and a glass of red wine. Within minutes my 14-year old had pretty much drained their drink and was acting funny. I had a last sip. Yep. Alcohol. I've scrolled the comments and that's why we went. Looked like a great meal. Almost wrote the management but realized they wouldn't care. This joint is 5-star-rated place. Power to them, but hope they get their game on straighter.

Service was good, food was sensational, lots of Gluten free options, ambience was really nice inside, the back patio area looked amazing. Enjoyed the meal, would return any time.

I have been here twice and have enjoyed both visits. The food is healthy, fresh, creative, and the waiters and waitresses are so nice!! They have a lovely patio that is really comfortable. There are a lot of gluten free options.

Since turning plant-based food eater two years ago, I have been struggling to find a chef who not only cooks this way, but who creates new and exciting cuisine in this format. Matthew Kinney and his staff at Plant Food +Wine take eating plants to a whole new level, a real adventure. Just reading the menu is exciting and the eclectic wine list invigorating. We sampled the Cashew Raclette with grilled Lodge bread-utterly sublime. Also loved the Kung Pao Cauliflower-a beautiful mix of sweet & sour, multi-colored florets cooked to perfection. The Kelp Noodle Cacio e Peppe, served cold, was dreamy-amazing textures in the mouth. The Farro & Fennel Sausage dish melted in the mouth. All works of art. All exciting and all devoured. We'll be back to try more offerings to be sure!

After a few hours traversing Abbot Kinney on a Sunday, you need to pause and recharge. This place is a good choice. It is located at a bookend of the major shopping zone so it is well positioned. During the day the vibe is fairly relaxed but still a little upscale. The back patio offers a comforting vibe. The food is really visually appealing (and we all know we eat partly with our eyes). The food is also pretty tasty, with varying spice intensity but generally to my liking. The wine selections are limited but a nice balance of eclectics and reliables. After a brief repast, you're ready to get back out there and that perfect LA bangle.

We came, without reservations, from a beautiful beach day and sat in the beautiful garden area. A very patient waitress explained the menu and answered all of our questions. We ordered multiple dishes and split them all. What seemed like smallish portions turned out to be just fine. While everything was excellent my husband is still raving about the Banana Cream Pie with the macadamia crust and I truly loved the roasted beets. Yes, it is a bit pricey but totally worth it. We'll be back.

We had heard about this great place serving amazing food that was also all plant based, and it was as described. Delightful outside courtyard, friendly service, and food that was unlike anything I had eaten anywhere else. To call one of the dishes mushrooms on toast just doesn't do it justice, and the gnocchi were outstandingly tasty.

The food here is amazing! Expensive? Sure, but so is everything in this town! You must have the dumplings. I normally would never have ordered them a kimchi filling, but honestly, with a dehydrated cilantro exterior and melt in your mouth inside, it was totally delicious experience that we had to order another set! Wow! The outside is lovely too. Highly recommend for plant-based eating, or just eating in general!

This gem came highly recommended and same comes from me! It's a beautiful abbot Kinney vegan restaurant with a cute patio on the back. Ambiance is amazing, service is excellent and the food is mouthwatering yummy! We had the guac and the mushroom pate as starters, the bread served with the pate was amazingly delicious! the lasagna which was great but didn't know it was raw and was craving for sth warm so I also got the spaghetti squash caponata which satiated my foodie appetite! I was so envious of the cheese platter served to the table next to us but finished dinner with the yummy trilogy sorbet instead! They also offer seminar and cooking classes which I'm so close to signing up for!

Homey garden in the backyard! Delicious, fresh and beautifully presented food. Nice choice of drinks. Great service! Our party was larger than the seats we had reserved, plus our dog -- no problem. We were seated in PF&W famous garden. Had a great time catching up with friends, we felt like home.

Plant food and wine is certainly one of my favorite vegan restaurants! I visited for my birthday with my family (I am vegan, they are not) and everyone was extremely happy with their meals! We ordered several appetizers along with entrees, and we were extremely satisfied leaving (although we would have been fine ordering less food). 100% order the cheese plate--the truffle cheese is amazing; my favorite vegan cheese in the WORLD. Leave room for dessert as all of the options that we tried were phenomenal. The setting was also very nice. It was pouring rain when we were there, but the atmosphere inside was lovely with ambient lighting and private booths to enjoy our meal. The music playing was nice, and the waiting staff was friendly and very helpful. All in all, Plant Food and Wine is my new favorite vegan restaurant, and it is a perfect dinner destination for vegans and non-vegans alike! I will certainly return whenever I am in Venice.

The vegan fare is tasty but the portions are tiny and the prices rather high. The dining room is nicely decorated and the outdoor patio looked like a lot of fun, had we been allowed to access it. However as soon as we arrived (a party of 8 family members, plus three young children), we were made to feel very unwelcome. When I pointed out that having dinner outside with 3 children might be easier, I was very sternly told that it would be impossible ( some other party had reserved that space... Really? I did check and by the time we got ready to leave, no one was sitting there). We had chosen this place because it advertised " come and visit our secret garden". On top of that, we were given the wrong check, our payment had to be cancelled and re-processed. Instead of any kind of goodwill gesture, we were told off for being angry. We were not angry, just anxious as one of us had a flght to catch and this whole payment snafu delayed us considerably. So my advice is: if you are planning on going out as a family, avoid this restaurant.

Outstanding in every way. Visually stunning. Delicious. Satisfying. Simply beautiful food. I could eat here every day for the rest of my life and never need another restaurant again (if I lived close enough and didn't travel as much, I would!). This is enlightened food.

Has a very charming patio, service is very good and the food is unbelievable! I was a little reluctant in the beginning because it's vegetarian and I'm far from that. But I have to tell you, if I could eat like this every day I would become a vegetarian tomorrow. Every single dish we tried had amazing and surprising flavors. The presentation is beautiful. It's the kind of restaurant that you want to go back.

We were really looking forward to eating in this restaurant, but from the moment we arrived until the moment we left it was ruined by front of house staff that were completely uncoordinated and the fact that we had six separate people wait on our table, again who were not communicating. The problem started when we were greeted by the lady with the blond curly hair, who is front of house. When we arrived we told her our names and time of booking, she said ok and walked away, not returning and two other front of house staff came to ask us if we were ok, but couldn't help as the other lady had the iPad. Eventually one of the other front of house staff placed us at a table as her colleague was not returning. We were given Menus and left there. Eventually the small dark haired front of house lady returned and asked if we wanted drinks, but they didn't turn up. In fact we had to order them again before she returned with our drinks and apologized for the delay. A waitress took our food order and she was very nice and knew the menu. We ordered hummus and avocado starters. The starters arrived and they were very nice, quite large portions, so you could share. After we finished our starters yet another waiter came and cleared our tables and then one of the front of house staff arrived and asked if we wanted dessert or the check, but we explained that our main course had not even arrived. She apologized and then another waiter arrived with our curry. The curry was ok, but nowhere as good as Gratitude. We were so unimpressed by the service and overall experience, that we decided not to stay for dessert or coffee. The main problem in this restaurant is the management. We watched the front of house lady with the blond curly hair make mistake, after mistake with other customers, with her colleagues having to intervene. The people seated near us were also complaining about the terrible service. I would not recommend going to this restaurant. If you want good vegetarian food with good service, you better go to Gratitude.

This was my last meal before I left America. It was very tasty but admittedly, after 2 courses, could have eaten it all over again. It is one of those, pay a lot, get a small portion kind of places. Sometimes that is nice, as long as you know what you're in for. We did enjoy the food, the tiramisu dessert was lovely. It was nice to sit and eat in the 'secret garden', despite the squirrel dropping stuff on us from the tree lol.

Food was beautifully presented and tasted really great. The atmosphere is great for a peaceful setting. A couple things though: -the food was very minimal portions...so be ready to spend money for a small portion but great flavorful food -I think they could’ve played some nice background music -service could’ve been a lot more attentive...we sat down for probably 10min before getting water and our server’s mood was very rushy, but also he didn’t have a welcoming persona I think overall the food was super flavorful and great, but small portions. Not sure I would pay the price again for what we got, but for being plant base I really do appreciate the efforts of spreading a plant base lifestyle.

Every thing you would expect from Chef Matthe Kenney and Chef Scott Winegard and their crew. Simply amazing

This is one of my new favorite vegan restaurants in Los Angeles. Everything on the menu is wonderful from appetizers to desserts. Our waitress, Paris, was truly incredible helping us pair different foods. We liked this place so much we ate here for dinner two nights in a row. Ordered different items both nights. My favorite item was the raw lasagna.

The best vegan gluten free restaurant in LA! Better to book it on weekends; and go explore the terrasse at the back

Beautifully prepared and presented vegan dishes. Everything is fresh and lively and not the usual attempt to try copy traditional meat dishes. The menu is varied enough to appeal to any palette.

One of my favorite restaurants in LA. Imaginative vegan dishes make this a welcome respite from the salt+sugar neo-fare found in places like Republique (which are totally fine for their purpose), or the saucy offerings at "special occasion" tourist-traps like Mellsse. The atmosphere at PF&W is casual, especially in the olive tree garden, as is the friendly service. The wine list is short and good, although it may not be to the taste of the Vegas/Burgundy crowd. The scene is mixed, perhaps a bit younger and healthier (and better looking :) than in most other places. Not cheap, but about the same as comparable places in Los Angeles and NY. Overall, highly recommended, unless your idea of a great restaurant is Ruth's Chris Steak House.

Had lunch here in the very nice patio. Service was friendly and good. I'm not a vegetarian or vegan. Just saying. I think vegetarians and vegans will like it. Zucchini Lasagna (raw, not cooked) was tasty, although something in it was salty. It didn't look like a big portion but it was surprisingly rich and filling. My companions had BLT and frittata. Something on the frittata plate was salty too, though. I tasted one of their side salads..., pretty good. The Panna Cotta was just ok. Should have had the pie. It's not cheap but for the westside I guess it's not unusual. All in all it was a quite refreshing and interesting experience.

Good food and nice service but nothing truly remarkable except for the bill. 120$ for one shared appetizer, two mains, one beer and one glass of wine is way too much. Would have rated it 3.5, but for our standards this place doesn't deserve 4.

I've been looking for a place like this for years---a tasty organic restaurant which doesn't make you feel like a hippy. Plant Food & Wine makes no apologies in taste and elegance for being an outstanding healthy organic meal. Nut cheese is the best. Sit in the back terrace if you can---it's one of the coolest spaces on an already very hip street.

We visited Plant Food and Wine for Brunch on the weekend and sat outside. The space was gorgeous and relaxed. Our server was AMAZING!! Kind, attentive and softly spoken. She was knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. I ordered the Plant Bowl and it was delicious, particularly the Tahini Dressing and Harissa Paste. We thought it was well priced, particularly when you consider that the ingredients are organic and locally sourced. Serving sizes are substantial, without leaving you feeling completely stuffed. Thank you!!

Empty restaurant when we arrived. Staff were talking amongst themselves not paying any attention. Then they were rude when we asked if it was ok to seat ourselves. Food was bland and ridiculously expensive. They allow dogs of any size in the place? Not hygienic. To top it off, my wife had to rush to the bathroom when we got home. We'll never go here again. Please don't try this place.bzero stars.

Our family of 4 adults and baby were on our way to Venice Canals and looked up an option online for lunch. We were not disappointed with this restaurant. We are not vegans but really enjoyed the food that was served. We had the lasagne, chickpea frittata, plant bowl, mushroom burger. Each choice was presented artistically and the flavour were delicious. We eat outside under the shade of the tree and there was room for the baby pram.

We were walking back to 3rd Avenue Promenade, and were getting a bit thirsty. Came upon this quaint doorway and walked in. We were told that they were serving lunch for a few minutes longer. We told them that we just wanted something to drink, so they asked us to pick a place to sit. When we sat down, another customer mentioned to go to the "patio in the back". It was like going through the mirror in Alice in Wonderland. There was soft music playing, fountains dribbling, trees and shrubs covered in tiny lights. So peaceful, and so quiet. I had the gluten free chocolate cookie with vanilla ice cream. Very Very tasty.

We were looking for a nice restaurant in Venice, when we passed this place. The menu looked very interesting, so we went in and where very nicely welcomed. The design was very elegant albeit a little bit sterile and cold. That feeling was exacerbated by the fact, that the restaurant was almost empty. There was only one other party, while other restaurants we passed had been rather crowded. We ordered three dishes, a soup, zucchini lasagna and a wild mushroom sandwich and it startet really well. The soup was good and tasty, but the rest was pretty disappointing. The zucchini lasagna had nothing to do with lasagna. It was more a salad with zucchinis, tomatoes etc. The tomatoes where still half green and absolutely tasteless and the rest was not much better. The wild mushrooms on my sandwich were quite ok although I somewhat suspect that the mushrooms where not really wild. I think they were oyster mushrooms which I wouldn't consider as wild. The bread on the outside looked very nice and perfectly grilled, but on the inside it was completely charred. Something I have never seen in any good restaurant. I think this is a place for people who care very much for style and fashionable food. If you belong to this crowd this is the right place for you. If you care about the quality and the taste of your food, I strongly recommend to go somewhere else. (We had wonderful meals in Silver Lake, where we lived during our stay in Los Angeles)

We adored this cute restaurant and had a table outside for lunch which was wonderful. Even though it was busy it was quiet and relaxing. Lots of fairy lights in the garden so imagine it would look magical at night. Food was amazing! Service was very attentive and charming. So glad we found this place.

Very flavourful and yummy, and vegetarian really isn't my thing, but even I was able to enjoy the delicious dumplings. Among other things.

I love the patio at this restaurant with its olive trees and twinkling lights. Okay, about the food ... yes, it is really good vegan and as a poultry and fish eater, I don't miss that protein while having a meal here. I've had dinner and brunch here several times in the past and the food was exceptional; however, this birthday dinner night was just okay. The manager assisted us in getting the table I desired on the patio and our server was fantastic. The desserts were fabulous, as there is no refined sugar used for sweetening, only agave. Definitely the coconut cream pie on macadamia nut crust is the way to go - gluten-free to boot. Although I ordered something different on the menu than the lasagna (which I love), I do know it is delicious as my friend ordered it and I had a bite. In all, a beautiful spot with good food, nice staff, good wine list and a great patio.

This is an amazing restaurant in every way. Great vegan food (they even had a tasting menu) with wonderful presentation and service. The back patio was a great place to enjoy the meal. I would come back in a heartbeat.

Arrived there for a three person business meeting. Entrance was small but they walked us through into outside beautiful patio area. Ambience was lovely with lighting and fire going. Service was sweet and prompt and smart. However, it went downhill when the food came out. We ordered many dishes from the cold selections and then equal amounts of the hot food. Plus two deserts.NOT one selection can I say was good, not one. This was a consensus in my group. Extremely disappointed and would not recommend this place for their food.I was hoping for better results.

Really enjoyed our dinner. We were just walking by and stopped here. What a find! Must try. Great food with amazing flavors. Staff was very nice and made the evening pleasant.

My daughter, an LA resident was very anxious to take us here. She has got the know the owner. So, conflict of interest declared. But this was lovely. We had lunch in the shaded garden, quiet even though every table was taken. We shared dishes. I strongly recommend this the warm olives. The humus and crispy breads where spectacular, and a truly flavoursome mushroom frittata. We will definitely return. This was definitely a lunch menu - light dishes perfectly suited to the climate. I look forward to returning to sample their dinner menu.

Stopped to read the menu and we were greeted and welcomed in to just "check out the garden". We had the place to ourselves, which is not always a good sign. But it was a great decision to stay for happy hour, even though neither of us are vegans! I enjoyed an excellent glass of Austrian wine, my husband had a beer, we loved the small plate of olives, almonds, etc. that came with the HH drinks and ordered the avocado mash as well. We're light eaters, but this was enough for dinner! GREAT staff. Great food and gorgeous, incredibly cool and relaxing oasis in the garden. Would definitely go back.

Basil Lemonade tasted like it was freshly squeezed in the backyard right from the lemon tree. It was definitely a lipsmacker with just a hint of basil; not super sweet and not too tart but just right. Rating: 4.8/5 Smoked Hummus ($12) is made with sprouted garbanzo, spring roots, dukkah and served with flatbread. This dish was beautifully presented with vibrant dark green and purple hues from the herbs that contrasted with the cream color of the hummus. Dukkah added a smoky flavor to the hummus plus the aromatics of walking through the spice market in Cairo. Sesame seeds added a richness and earthy flavor to the mix. There was also ample flatbread for dipping, a detail which is often overlooked. Rating: 4.5/5 Golden Beet + Avocado Tartar ($14) is served with red quinoa crisps, horseradish, and dill. The tartar was refreshing and the creamy avocado paired nicely with the sweet golden beets. The horseradish tantalized the taste buds with its quick fiery notes. The red quinoa crisps were a lovely reminiscent of a Wasa flatbread but without the sharp bite of rye. Just needs a few more of these to use with the tartar. Rating: 4.3/5 Zucchini Lasagna ($22) is layered with spicy marinara, almond ricotta, and basil pesto. This artfully constructed tower of lasagna was raw yet refreshingly tasty. The fresh, juicy tomatoes contrasted nicely with the spicy and zingy marinara although they gave the dish a slightly acidic aftertaste. The pesto added an herbaceous component. The almond ricotta had the mouthfeel of traditional ricotta but with a mild nutty flavor. Rating: 4.3/5 Spring Pea Ravioli ($22) made with nettles, pea puree and topped with spring onion soubise. The presentation was beautiful with its organic colors of cream, yellow, and green like the first shoots of vegetation determinedly springing from snow covered ground. The aroma was herbaceous as if walking through an herbal garden. The spring onion soubise was creamy with just the right amount of spring onion flavor without being overbearing. The raviolis were cooked al dente and the pea filling was refreshing with rich flavor, body, and texture. Rating: 5/5 Flora Artisanal Cheese (Choose 2 for $14, 3 for $19, or 4 for $22) is served with pickles, mustard, and almond fennel crackers. White Truffle Cashew-Macadamia Cheese had a great truffle flavor and aroma with a silky texture. Smoked Cheddar Cashew-Macadamia Cheese had a smoky and subtle cheddar flavor. Brazil Nut Cashew Cheese was more granular texture than the others but had a nice creamy cheese-like flavor. Rating: 4/4 Passionfruit Cheesecake ($13) is made with a pistachio crust and topped with a rhubarb strawberry compote. This was an amazing dessert! It was rich and creamy, tasting just like a dairy cheesecake. The passionfruit added a tropical tang to the cheesecake. The compote added a fresh-from-the-garden flavor with the tartness from the rhubarb and sweetness from the sun-kissed strawberries. Rating: 5/5

My new favorite LA restaurant! I'm a gluten free vegetarian. Visiting my daughter in LA, I made reservations at Plant. So glad I did. I loved it! The garden is peaceful and pretty. Staff was dog friendly. And, most importantly, the food was incredible! We splurged on the 6 course tasting menu. Highlights were the hummus which has a delightful smoky flavor served on gluten free crackers which were crisp and delicious, the heart of palm ceviche, and the curried chickpea soup. For dessert I had the tiramisu, and it was also delicious. The wine pairings were great, too. The experience was worth every penny. Thanks, Matthew Kenney, your chef, your sommalier, and your terrific waitstaff. Can't wait to bring my meat eating hubby here on our next trip!

I walked out of the restaurant and said to my son, "That's the best meal I've ever had." I don't think I need to say anything more.

OMG - this is foodie heaven! Everything on the menu looked scrumptious so we ended up ordering 8 entrees and sides. This is definitely the new hip place on Abbott-Kinney. Love sitting outside on the back patio under the lights and stars - very romantic... The wait staff hustled about keeping an eye on our needs without interrupting conversation - didn't chase out out even though we were only ones left 30 minutes after closing. We loved the tacos - have them substitute lettuce for a complete vegan dish. Dessert blew my date away... ordered a second helping of banana cream pie to take home. Slightly pricey but well worth it. Can't wait to go again!

Very good organic plant based menu with organic wines also. Lovely fine dining. Very nice ambiance. A little higher priced than many restaurants but our Australian dollar being poor against American dollar, was not helpful. For the average person the price would seem fair. For us it was quite expensive. We have an entree to share, a main each and no dessert and one drink each. Our total was $201AU so a little pricy for us. Very nice food. My risotto could have had a bit more flavour and depth to it. There was no salt or pepper for us to add extra taste either. Nice spot.

Went here for brunch today - it was superb! From the friendly welcome, beautiful outside dining, and utterly fantastic food. One of the best meals I've had. Highly recommended.

Vegan Type Restaurant only a couple of steps from Venice Beach. Perfect hideaway backyard garden with excellent food and wine. Relaxing atmosphere and great to get away from the beach at night.

the location on Abbot Kinney, the setting (indoor and gorgeous garden), the friendly and accommodating service join the amazing tastes and flavors of vegan celebration. all dishes are supreme!

I was visiting family who are vegan and decided to try this restaurant. We had a reservation for 7:45 PM and arrived around 7:30 PM to check in with all parties present. I was told that our table wouldn't be ready until almost 8 PM and was done so rudely and with no apologies offered. We did not get seated until almost 8:15 PM and that was only because I kept pushing for a table. The food, at best, was mediocre and that was the opinion of vegan and non-vegan eaters. The best part of the entire experience was the dessert! Excellent coconut cream pie was had by all. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in this place!

Beautiful patio, delicious selection of food and nice organic wines. Excellent service. We eat here regularly and take friends often - everyone LOVES the outing.

My friends are hard core carnivores and were skeptical of a vegan brunch place, however they thoroughly enjoyed Plant, Food and Wine. Highly recommended brunch spot on Abbott Kinney.

While I couldn't eat this food every day I find it super tasty and beautiful. The creativity of Mr. Kinney is to be applauded.

Cute patio with friendly unpretentious staff in a chill environment. Enjoyed the food as a carnivore. Will return.

When eating out food is as important as the service and this place sadly fell apart massively on the service aspect. Dining with friends tonight and after ordering a bottle of wine, it took another server 40 mins to come back to us to tell us that they were out of that wine. Our server (nick) kept telling us that the wine was on the way and walked by our table several times with no acknowledgement. Additionally between that 40 mins, he did not take a moment to pour us water again or even follow up with our order until we had to ask. The saving grace was the food was actually excellent and the setting in the back area was charming. Overall a place you'd want to rave + love but just a horribly amateur service experience. Honestly the chef should be embarrassed to have service like that degrade the customer experience and the great food we had. Could be something special, but based on this evening, I cannot recommend as there are better serviced places on abbott kinney by far. Not recommended.

First, we were greeted by a very sweet & beautiful hostess. She had fantastic style we well! Sara our server made this quite the most pleasant experience. Besides the quality of service she provided, she was knowledgeable about all the items on the menu & did a superb job at recommending all of the delicious food that we ordered. Food was a little on the pricey side but I cant complain as I did not end up paying for it; surprise treat from my friend. Either way, worth the price even if I did. We ordered a handful of items off the menu, some my buddy knew from previous experience & some came from Sara's recommendations. All in all, can't wait to go back! Thank you for everything!

The atmosphere and amazingly delicious dishes perfectly compliment each other. I had the "cheese" platter and the sun dried tomato and pesto lasagna. As much as I wanted to try dessert, I was full and satisfied both in portions and nutritionally! Coming here was a dream 2 years ago when I took one of MK's weekend online raw food courses! A MUST TRY!

On a recent business trip to LA, I ate dinner twice at Plant Food & Wine in Venice. Both dining experiences were delightful, delicious, and a huge relief from the usual multitude of other mediocre dining options for travelers. (I was also in Anaheim for a conference on this trip - and that was a total food desert for vegan gluten free folks!) Service was great as well. I am mostly vegan, plant-based, and gluten free (extreme celiac). I was amazed to see that PF&W offered many delicious menu choices, which friends and I sampled and found delicious! The food is clean, healthy, organic, well-labeled for any allergens, and simply delicious and well-presented. Bravo to the owner, chefs, servers, and everyone involved. This restaurant is so wonderful, I would consider moving to the area to be near it if I could!

The food is amazing, very relaxing atmosphere. One of my favourite restaurant in Venice Beach. Very friendly staff. Love it!

First let me say that Mathew Kenney's Plant Food and Wine restaurant is Fine dining. This is the pinnacle of Plant Based cuisine. My wife and I are travelers and Foodies and have eaten in some of the most delicious restuarants in Europe and the States and Plant Food Wine stands up. Plant based or not. I honestly think it should be considered for a Michelin Star. That being said lets talk about the food. The simple grilled sourdough with nut butter is not to be believed. Like most of the dishes here, the simplicity will fool you, until it hits your taste buds. The use of local and seasonal ingredients is the basis and I've never tasted the complexity of flavors that his team creates. The back patio is like a scene out of Italy or Greece at night with the trees and lights. The staff is committed to service and the overall philosophy that Mathew has created. Alitalia the ( GM) is on every detail and is on the floor make sure everything is going as planned. Skylar, sever extraordinaire knows every ingredient and can answer and pair things up beautifully. James is the host and front of house and is impeccable in his manners and service. The Chef is Andre Olivera .... he is 20 years old and began when he was 16... a culinary savant. Other stand outs are Jay and the rest of the staff. the restaurant is fairly pricey, but this is no ordinary meal and is special dinner whenever we decide to go. For a very special night out, I highly recommend PFW.

OK, it's maybe 50% overpriced. $19 for a veggie burger? $15 for banana creme pie? Oh my. Well, it's a fancy Venice Beach location. You'll see a few Sitcom TV stars hanging out on the street. Anyway, the Mitake mushroom veggie burger was tasty. The spicy mustard was great. The carrot butter was fantastic. The bun was above average. But the lightly dressed lettuce on the plate was disappointing. At least throw some crispy onions or pickled cabbage on top to make it more special and worth this price point. The pie was tasty, but again unremarkable. But it was vegan. And very good service, so I added a star to bring it up to four.

Vegan restaurant. Very friendly staff, food is tasty but left me needing more despite eating as many carrots as I could get my hands on ! The chick pea lemongrass curry is pretty awesome ! Fantastic little garden eating area at back of restaurant perfect for larger gatherings.

I am a carnivore so finding food on a plant based menu is always hard for me. They do a nice job making sure the food isn't too heavy with nuts and fats. The outdoor seating is lovely, although I was hoping for more creativity in the inside Beyond just slapping on a fresh coat of paint vs the previous Resturant. Our server was really bad, had a real attitude like serving was beneath him. It really took away from the experience.

We drove an hour to get to this place on a weekday and it took us 2 hours to get back home due to traffic. It was still worth it. Food was great and the serving is also big. The food presentation was also superb. We ordered the flora artisinal cheese tasting and the smokes hummus. I would recommend the cheese sampler, it was better than the hummus. Then we each ordered our main dish. Out of all of them, we recommend the plant bowl and the zucchini lasagna. Their cocktail drinks are also good.

I leave in Los Angeles just few months. And I'm so happy to find new place for myself. Being vegan and enjoying your life is absolutely possible. This restaurant is perfect example of high end vegan kitchen. Any meal I've ever tried here is a masterpiece. Appetizers, main courses. I wish I can try more food. But it's so full feeling that you can not try more then 2 plates of anything. And that's cheese plate. With a glass of wine. I'd eat there every day. Unexpected rich flavor of vegan ice cream for dessert. Incredible. And that's just about the food. Now the interier. If you come for dinner, make sure to ask for a table at the backyard. It's so gorgeous there. Nightlights, candles and plants and flowers. It reminds Greece in some point. Very romantic. From my personal point of view I would add some lightly sounded jazz music. Because sometimes tables could be close to each other and you can hear someone's speech. But in general it's definitely going to be one of my favorite restaurants in town. Highly recommending...

If there was a GOOD rating option I would have used that ... Very happy to see more Vegan and Vegetarian restaurants opening up and showing what can be done without meat & fish. Amazing space, great sounding menu items, some very nice presentation and good staff team. Really original, creative and exciting menu ... But the food did not quite live up to expectations. We are going to go again and try some more of the menu items ...

This place is remarkable! We went there with friends that are not vegans and they loved it as well. We started with the vegan cheese platter and cashew raclette for sharing - the cheeses are made on premises and had amazing flavors. The mains, here I would highlight the hay smoked gnocchi as the main attraction. Desserts: we tried carrot cake, coconut cream pie, tiramisu and lemon meringue tart - all absolutely outstanding 🙌🏽 Enjoy!

I came across Plant Food and Wine on a strong, and I repeat, strong recommendation from a Venice Local. We started with the avacado)Tikka and it was perfect. The plant bowl was an A+. The kung Pao cauliflower held it's own but I wouldn't get it again.Turn off your brain. Go to PF&W and indulge in what plant based eating should taste like. (Skylar was a sweetheart)

To begin with, I am a great supporter of vegan and organic restaurants which I believe deserve our support in a world full of factory farming and pesticide foods damaging our environment and so I went to PF&W with everything in my mind to make this a good evening with great food. Unfortunately, the entire evening was a great disappointment. Firstly, on sitting down in the garden one could see the cushions on the seats were grubby, marked, stained and clearly either needed cleaning or replacing. Not a good start. We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairings and the bill with a tip came to over $320.00 for two people and here is the problem............... Our first course was served and once we had finished this course only then did the wine pairing turn up, in other words, we had no wine to pair with our first course. When you are paying over $300.00 for a meal for two people I do think it outrageous for the restaurant to be so incompetent. We requested the bread with our meal but this took close to 45 mins to arrive, again it was just not good enough. With regards to the food and wine pairing, well my wife and I travel the world and eat at many world-class restaurants and I can tell you that this is not one of them. The tasting menu was bland, boring and unexciting and the wine pairings failed miserably in our opinion. I might add that the wine pairings were rather mean and minuscule in size. We were told this was a great restaurant with exciting modern vegan cuisine but i have to say we found it quite the opposite with it being overpriced, over hyped and perhaps having seen better days. Avoid.

We're new to the vegan/raw food lifestyle and thought the food was alright. We were expecting more raw food choices and expecting the food to be more tasteful. We were wanting to try the other restaurant, M.A.K.E. but weren't sure if it was open, our server told us it was still open which we found confusing, cause apparently it's been closed for a while. The busboy brought us glasses and said the water was coming later, What? Sitting outside patio we asked that the heater be turned on and found it wasn't working and no one cared to bring us another one or offer to let us move.

Such a gem place in the heart of Venice. When you walk in you wouldn’t know how pretty the garden is. Highly recommend to sit outside. There are fig and olive trees and it’s very relaxing. Food was innovated, fresh and full of flavors. Service was superb. Avalon was so nice.
Amazingly Creative Plant-Based Cuisine!
Last night was our first time to visit Plant Food + Wine and we can’t wait to return and try more dishes. Following other reviewers suggestions, we began with the Kimchee Dumplings. They were melt in your mouth and surprisingly delicious! A must-try! We also ordered the Carrot Soup, which was dense and sweet, the Heirloom Tomato Zucchini Lasagna (raw) and the Beech Mushroom with Black Rice dishes. I’m not one to normally gravitate towards a raw dish, but the lasagna did not disappoint! Chef Mathew Kenney is known for his raw dishes, and I’m glad we went for it.
