Joel Barajas provides world-class service!

By Garry T |

Joel Barajas, General Manager, provides world-class service! I really appreciated his reaching out to me in such a kind, thoughtful and generous manner!

Amazing Breakfast

By freddyflu |

This breakfast buffet is one of the best breakfast buffets I've ever had. Their mix of traditional and southwestern dishes is a good change compared to standard buffets. Totally worth it!

Good Spot for Lunch

By Statman24 |

The lunch buffet at Plateia is a great choice for a quick, yet satisfying lunch. Great selection of Mediterranean food, good service and not overly expensive.

Convenience is all there is

By SoCalTraveler91356 |

Very convenient to events at UCLA. Located in Luskin conference center. No tipping. No sales tax. Valet parking if you are just there for a meal, but you can't leave a car through an event at UCLA. Other nearby parking is plentiful. Service is cheerful. However. Small portions (except for the pizza and hamburger). And I mean small. You will leave hungry. My wife's chicken came without the potatoes listed on the menu. Chicken was small. No explanation for the missing potatoes other than the kitchen "must have run out." Substitute potatoes took 16 minutes on the clock. We ordered wine in advance for my wife, who was running late. (There are only two of her varietal of choice on the menu anyway.) Did not arrive. When my wife arrived she was asked for her wine order yet again. And then we had to wait, so ordering in advance so it would be waiting for her was less than useless. $80 for 3, with two glasses of wine.

Great find in the middle of UCLA campus

By tabster-SD |

What a lovely place for dinner. Great food, good service, and reasonably priced. We had grilled octopus for appetizer, lamb Tagine, the tricolor salad with chicken for dinner and a chocolate dessert. The lamb was buttery and soft. Octopus was so tasty. We sat at the outdoor patio which was nice and very relaxing. Glad I was able to get a reservation.

Relaxing and Enjoyable

By Melissa W |

Great experience. Relaxing atmosphere. Great and unique breakfast selections. Ariel, our server was fantastic. Breakfast was timely but not rushed. Coffee was always full. There was no wait (but do make sure you have a reservation)-this was what a restaurant experience should be. Enjoyable!

Delicious food

This is a very nice place for lunch. The staff was helpful and very professional. And the food Delicious. Was a great lunch.

Delicious Food and Beautiful Setting

By Daniel D |

My mom and I were staying at the hotel and we tried the restaurant out for brunch. Both of our dishes were delicious and the portions are generous so bring an appetite! I love the outdoor area amongst the olive trees, it’s very serene and peaceful. The service was great albeit a little confusing because we didn’t have a dedicated server rather anyone we could flag down.

Fantastic food and outstanding service

By Adrianna B |

Everybody in the restaurant took the time to make me feel welcome and to get to know me. Always a plus when you're eating alone. I ordered the house made blueberry lime soda and the beef ravioli. The pasta came with an Alfredo sauce and was surprisingly light. The portion was the perfect size and I was pleasantly full.

Plateia, in the new UCLA Luskin Conference Center

By eheyman |

Plateia, in the new UCLA Luskin Conference Center offers great food, equal to many outside restaurants, at reasonable prices, and with great decor.

Great Hotel Restaurant

By AngusRodrigo |

Good quality food throughout the experience of my conference - we had buffets prepared for us which were super fresh and had unique combinations of salads and foods. Really liked it.

Excellent new restaurant at UCLA

By 123Avila |

Atmosphere is great, lively but not too noisy. Our waitress was wonderful. She took time to explain how the restaurant works, and what they try to do. I LOVE the fact that they are following on Europe's lead: no tip because the employees receive a decent salary, or the tip is included in the price. Either way, you know exactly how much it will cost you. I am SO tired of having to tip everyone (hugely) for the least little effort. The food is imaginative and delicious. I had the seared scallops (yum!) and my husband had the braised short ribs. Both great. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Buffet choices first rate

By giorgitd |

I was here with a group and had multiple breakfasts and lunches at the buffet over the course of a week. One sit down (but pre-programmed) dinner, too. The selections are all quite good and with enough variety. The 'formula' is similar, but the specifics are changed enough to be interesting. The breakfast egg in a small ramekin is awesome and different each day (as an example). Kale one day, green chili the next, both with an over easy egg on top - pretty dang great. Smoked salmon at breakfast is among the best I've experienced anywhere. The desserts are bite sized, three different choices at each meal, mostly very good. The salads are terrific and interesting. The formula here seems to be greens + something 'odd' (beets, orange slices, nuts) plus some cheese. Pretty fabulous. I'm not sure that I'd come here just for a meal, but if you are staying at the UCLA Meyer & Renee Luskin Conference Center, this restaurant is attached and is an awesome and convenient choice. Service was generally attentive, but the coffee at the end of a meal seemed slow on multiple occasions.

Great addition to Westwood dining

By nancybott |

A brand new restaurant in the recently opened Luskin Conference Center. Lots of options: outside, so you can bring the dog, inside (actual dining room looks better than the picture on the website), large & small spaces for private parties. Interesting & unusual menu. NO tipping allowed so the menu price includes the service charge. Had a great waiter, a UCLA student. No sales tax because it is a not-for-profit, or so I understand. Suggest going while "the game," of whatever sport, is going on. Or it might get more crowded.

EXCELLENT! Food and drinks!

By barbaraandfamily |

After a day of walking around on the UCLA campus this is the perfect stop for pizza and salad. We ordered at the bar but the wait was a bit longer than we'd hoped. Once the food arrived we ate our meal outside under the olive trees. The waiters were very helpful and the food was delicious. We ordered a pizza and Mediterranean salad to share. The salad was delicious with lots of cucumbers, feta and tomatoes. The pizza (flat crust) was quite tasty. I will definitely eat here again.

Excellent restaurant - great food & service!

By Dhorko |

Excellent all around - food, quality, variety, location. Located right in the Luskin Center, Plateia is an excellent upscale dining option. Breakfast: don't miss the Moroccan Orange Pancakes. Yummm! Perfect way to start the day. Dinner options were equally good - we had the Greek Village Salad and Margherita pizza. Don't miss the desserts (Chocolate Nemesis and Tiramisu). Service was beyond expectations; extremely attentive, courteous, and customer-oriented. Definitely a place we are looking forward to going back to!

Classy campus restaurant

By Back_to_Sandringham |

This is a very elegant restaurant inside the beautiful UCLA conference centre. The menu is pretty extensive; I had a Greek salad and was very pleased with it. Nice service and a great modern ambiance.

Beautiful outdoor space to enjoy breakfast or lunch with your Bruin!

By maminjtrav |

I LOVE eating at this beautiful space on UCLA’s campus. This is second time we’ve been here and we’ll surely be back again since our daughter is only a freshman. UCLA is lucky to have such a lovely place right on campus. Aesthetically, the space and food are always beautiful and the service attentive. I did find my meal a little bland this time but I probably like my food spicier than most people. My husband’s burger was very tasty. Beautiful place to lunch outside with your Bruin. And there specialty sodas and incredible!

Good food but pricey

By J G |

I got breakfast here since I was staying at the location. The service was very fast and the food was good, but I find $5 for coffee a bit much.

Handy for the hotel and good food too

By Terri L |

Really good chicken and avocado sandwich was yummy- but be prepared to not eat it all. Fries were good to. While group liked there meals, so good all around. Bar staff is mostly friendly.

This Place Topped Off our Visit

By FLB |

We were staying at the Luskin Conference Center/Hotel the night before my doctor's visit. We had breakfast and loved it. The setting is lovely with large windows overlooking the patio and the decor is contemporary, relaxing and cheerful. The servers were friendly and accommodating. We felt very welcomed.

Top restaurant

By enjoy0001 |

Went to Luskin several times for conferences and seminars. Tried different items of the menu proposed at Plateia at dinner. This is a top restaurant. Very good quality/price ratio

Nice place to eat...NO TIPPING

By Kesslane |

Very nice restaurant with excellent service. There is no tipping. The menu is Mediterranean influenced.

Wonderful service and location!

Our server, Celestino, was wonderful! Very attentive and made sure we were taken care of for the entirety of our lunch. Food was delicious too and lovely patio. Highly recommend!

An enjoyable celebration dinner at Plateia in the UCLA On-Campus Hotel or Luskin Conf Ctr

By Devin K |

Our family was looking for a restaurant to celebrate our parents' anniversary dinner and chose Plateia at UCLA due to the fact that we are all UCLA alumni. We found the opportunity to reminisce and enjoy a delicious dinner at Plateia within the UCLA Luskin Conference Center or the newly built on campus hotel. It should be noted that the weekend lunch menu is limited, but the dinner menu provides a range of options as we were eating on a Saturday night. From the beginning, the General Manager Joe made us feel welcome and appreciated our choice to spend this special dinner at their restaurant. Our server Gabbie was informative, helpful and attentive throughout the evening. We enjoyed all parts of the meal starting from the housemade sodas like blueberry lime and the ginger lemon. Each person enjoyed their meals from the salmon entree to the pastas containing fresh pasta. The desserts were unique and delicious. Be aware that this is an elegant menu in price and style, but also that the restaurant is a "no tip" restaurant as part of the recent trend as the service is built into the pricing. As our families appreciated the delicious food and attentive service, we were pleasantly surprised to find this gem and will definitely will return when we are in the area again.

A Perfect Place when staying at the Luskin Conference Center

By FLB |

We stay at the Luskin Center twice a year and love dining at Plateia. The menu is interesting and the food is very good. The staff is always friendly and accommodating.

Lovely Mediterranean Restaurant in UCLA

By ICM H |

Joel and the team at Plateia serve great food and provide impeccable service. We regularly host guests and/or our staff here for business meals and Plateia never fails to impress. Make sure to plan ahead as the place gets packed especially during lunch!

FANTASTIC FOOD.

By yobewild |

Great bar and the atmosphere is really nice and outside dinning too. We had the following for dinner Duck fries, black mussels Natural Cured Meats Churned Cheeses Kale & Baby Romaine Greek Village Salad. Everything was wonderful. Then next night was a Margerita the dough was really tasty and the sauce was well seasoned. Great food for the money.

Finer Dining in Westwood with Excellent Service

By lyleis2018 |

Whether you are visiting UCLA or just looking for a nice place to eat in Westwood, you can't go wrong here! We go here before UCLA basketball games and it is great. If you just want a drink, a quick bite, or a whole meal before the game this is a nice elevation over the typical campus or "college town" food you find in Westwood. In that way, it is a nice place to go even if you don't need to be on campus for any other reason. The setting is quite nice. When the weather permits, they have outdoor seating in a courtyard with lots of room and beautiful olive trees to provide just the right amount of shade. The food is really good, too. If you are just going for a bite and a drink, I would recommend the hummus and the fries. They don't disappoint! If you want something a bit more substantial, their burgers are really good, too. When my wife and I go for dinner, we usually split a burger and fries. They have a full bar and I find their selection of spirits, beer, and wine to have something for everyone. By far the best aspect of Plateia is the service. In spite of the "no tipping" policy, the service here is amazing! Everyone is helpful - doesn't have to be your dedicated server - and they are very quick to attend to your every need. This level of service is not surprising given the leadership there. Joel is one of the best restaurant managers I have ever come across. He treats you like royalty and never fails to give you that personal touch that is lacking in so many fine dining establishments. His contribution to the experience cannot be understated. All together, Plateia is a convenient place to get some good food before visiting the campus or a fine dining alternative to the "college food" in the rest of Westwood. I think you'll have a good time, especially if Joel is there!

Nice selection of fresh ingredients

By Mike A |

The breakfast has a wide array of fresh fruits which exceeded the quality of the scrambled eggs (over cooked to plastic texture) with an array of meats, yogurts and the usual suspects. Lunch and dinner are more adventurous and inventive with the continuing access to fresh. Nice choices but prices are similar to hotel aspects of facility.

Food Was Missing and Terrible

By ARWagner |

The place has really gone to Hell. They lost our order for the lamb dish and the idiots tried to fix it by bringing a linguini with clams dish. This replacement was not linguini, but some crappy spaghetti with NO clams. We had guests from Washington who are funding a major program at UCLA and spent $400 for dinner and this place is a total embarrassment.

Good but not gourmet food

By Ciderwinemaker |

Breakfast buffet excellent; food for other meals was good, presentation even better. Service was a bit slow, and occasionally forgetful.

Great place for family gatherings or business meals when on the UCLA Campus

By rhkimmunology |

We have eaten here many times and it is a favorite on the UCLA campus. Our group got together this time to host a visiting professor and everyone had a wonderful time, with plenty of space to mingle and socialize. The food is always good and the service is excellent. We ate indoors this time, but if the weather is warm, dining outside is better. The lamb was superbly prepared and my wife had the black cod. Everyone shared dessert and the evening was enjoyed by all. The only caveat is the parking is a little confusing. The entrance is not obvious and if you are parking in lot 8, the entrance is not where you logically would think it is.

Great Breakfast

By Mike B |

I found this to be a great place for breakfast. The buffet was excellent with a variety of meat and eggs as well as a very good selection of fruits.

Service (Jess.) was amazing

By Sophie H |

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at the restaurant, and much of it was thanks to Jess. She was incredibly friendly and truly transformed our evening into something special. Her recommendations were spot-on, and we had such a pleasant conversation with her throughout the night. Jess made our dining experience unforgettable with her warm and attentive service

Hotel restaurant.

By MonoJ |

Food overal very good, Vegetables sometime undercooked or burnt flavour from grilling what makes it dry as well, List of thinks we had. Tagging of cous cous with meat, perfect. chicken, Salmon, cheese and meat plate, pizza with artichoke. all very good Baby plate good. Some recommendation, listen to what the customer wants, don't bring the main when starter is stil there. be consistent together, for example if you give bread to one table also to the other, train each other you all have good quality's. And last you can always hold my baby, hahaha thanks again.

Good food, slow service

By THOMAS B |

Convenient location at UCLA Luskin Conference Center Hotel. Food I'd healthy and tasty, but service by college students is slow and uninformed. Still very happy with this convenient option on campus. Atmosphere is great.

Great food, good seating and takeout options

By SERUs |

Really enjoyed the food and when wait times were long, the take out options were a great alternative. Very expensive, but everything was done to a great standard.

UCLA Restaurant was great!

By NatcoH |

After our tour of the campus, we enjoyed a lovely delicious lunch at PLATEIA. Our server was great and so was the food.

Great addition to UCLA's campus...

By TheseGo211 |

I was in L.A. to attend a UCLA basketball game and had several meals at Plateia (the Luskin Center's restaurant and bar) during my trip, and also spent an evening hanging out in the bar. The food was outstanding, the drinks were delicious, the staff was super-friendly, and the center itself is beautifully done...it's great to have somewhere just steps from Pauley Pavilion to have a drink or two and a meal before or after a game/event. They set up a table in the lobby before the games where they sell inexpensive ($5) beer and wine, and there are always tons of fans there, making it a good place to get into the right frame of mind to attend the games. Part of the lobby adjacent to the restaurant can be opened up to combine with an outdoor seating area, so it's great to enjoy on sunny L.A. days. Note that because this venue is on campus, there is a strict no tipping policy, so while the prices aren't cheap, they also aren't really that high for the quality of the food and drink served. We tried the charred octopus, the burger with duck fat fries and the chicken BLT sandwich and all of them were great. And they make a delicious margarita as well. I didn't actually stay at the Conference Center, so cannot speak to the rooms or other aspects of it as a hotel - but as a place to hang out, eat and drink with high quality at a reasonable price, it's perfect...

A white tablecloth restaurant in a hotel on UCLA's campus!

By TravelingJo2014 |

Coming back for an alumni event on campus, we were looking for a place to have classmates get together afterwards and were pleasantly surprised to find this addition to the campus. While we were only there for a light meal and drinks, it definitely fit the need well. Service was good and the menu interesting.

Pretentious and overpriced restaurant

By dillichalo |

I accompanied a group of around 5-6 faculty and a visitor to this restaurant which is part of UCLA's relatively new Lushkin conference center. Service was erratic at best, and some would say poor; the broccolini had been cooked to death and had to be returned. I had paella: it's not even a patch on the paella served, for example, at Geoffrey's in Malibu, but is similarly priced at $30. The portions of every dish are small, and the restaurant is generally overpriced: academic visitors who are lodging there would be well advised to step out into Westwood village where they will find far better and more reasonably priced restaurants.

Not prepared for the crowd

By dctraveler43 |

I may have picked a bad time to eat here as we were at a conference and all ate lunch at once. However, the buffet was out of most items and there were very few options. Steak and fish were both cold. So, had potential, but on this occasion, a disappointment.

Slow service, decent food

By nylabuyer |

I attended a dinner meeting at Plateia. We had a tight timeline and unfortunately, the service was slow. It is pricey, but there is no tipping. Maybe this is why the service tends to be slow. The bar, on the other hand, is a fun place to hang out with good drinks.

Contemporary, brand new, great service, excellent dining

By ranishi |

Located inside the Luskin Conference center on the UCLA campus. A contemporary restaurant, great service, upscale ambience, and great dining choices. We stopped for lunch and had a cheese sampler which was excellent. The shaved brussel sprout salad was unique and excellent. The other sandwiches and salads of the other guests were nicely prepared with fresh ingredients. Plateia is brand new and a wonderful addition to the dining in and around UCLA.

Great Patio for Dining....Should be a good bet for brunch and you can bring a dog!

By Love vacation time |

Three of us enjoyed our dinner experience . We only had a total of one Sauvignon Blanc and one coke between the three of us. "The Mozzarella Salad was not great and the Greek Salad was very generous, but didn't care for the dressing.....big enough to take home for dinner for two of us. My wife's Putanesca pasta was just fair .The chicken tangine (one leg and one breast) was very nice. Cost for the three of us was $119.00.....tips are not accepted. This restaurant is part of a conference center. Sit on the patio in the summer.....very nice. Waiter, Calash, was exceptionally nice.

Not very appetizing

By Debbie J |

I guess you would call this high-end offerings but to me it was just too much fluff. No comfort food here, no basics. One of our foursome enjoyed the salmon. The rest didn't enjoy our meals so much. Some of the fare on the plates was not identifiable and we had to ask the server what they were. Too pricey for what you get. We did not return for the remainder of our stay in this hotel.

UCLA Hospitality

By RJ702 |

Wonderful restaurant and a great staff. Sat at the bar this time around. Bar staff were excellent. Outside seating is nice, atmosphere is quiet and easy to have a conversation. I come to UCLA/Luskin twice a year for medical reasons and my wife and I always enjoy a dinning here.

Horrible

By M M |

Our experience at this restaurant was unacceptable. From the moment we arrived, the manager was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. What really pushed this over the edge was how we were treated because of our service dog. Instead of being welcomed like any other customer, we were immediately questioned about the legitimacy of our dog — in a tone that was accusatory and downright hostile. The manager seemed completely unaware (or just didn’t care) about the laws protecting individuals with service animals. It was embarrassing, stressful, and completely unnecessary. We tried to explain calmly, but the attitude never changed. We were made to feel like we didn’t belong. The rest of the staff seemed uneasy too, probably because of how their manager was handling things. This is not how anyone should be treated — especially when following the law and just trying to enjoy a meal. We won’t be returning, and I hope management gets proper training on ADA compliance and basic customer service

Great dinner alfresco

By dwg51357 |

We stopped at Plateia for dinner after a visit to UCLA, primarily out of convenience, since it was nearby. Great choice. We dined outside, since it was a warm November evening. The place is contemporary and new with an upscale and fun menu - assorted small plates, salads, sandwiches, pizzas and main dishes. The three of us shared a huge shaved brussels sprouts salad, the tagine of the day, and salmon. All were outstanding. Our server was extremely attentive and friendly. A great, relaxing experience.

Nices Burgers close to UCLA

By BTS1972 |

The burgers here are far better than the average stuff. The staff is friendly and fast. And all comes for a reasonable price.

Superb service!

By SBK12014 |

The service was wonderful! The restaurant dies not allow or accept gratituities. The servers are friendly and helpful and second to none! The food was great too!
