We visited this restaurant while staying in a hotel near the Seattle Space needle. The food was outstanding with generous servings. The decorations were warm and cozy. Tortilla soup, Carne Asada, Ensalada Con Pollo. Great salsa. Great food. We took left overs back to the hotel for a late night snack.

We have been back multiple times and have never been disappointed. The quality of ingredients, preparation and service, portion size, and price are all excellent. If Mexican cuisine is a favorite, then this restaurant will be too.

The food was delicious and the staff was so nice. My son was on a bottle cap collecting mission and they really hooked him up. Servings are generous here too.

This is my go-to Mexican restaurant. There are plenty in Seattle, but this one is run by Mexicans, and is true to the food. They don't do fancy, by the table guac, but the guac they serve is great. They have authentic dishes like Menudo and albondigas, but also burritos and tortas. They also make a really tasty and fresh margarita. The servers and bartenders are friendly, and the vibe is fun. It's family friendly, but not overrun with kids. It's already a well priced restaurant, but they also offer a great happy hour.

I love the food, the service and the atmosphere. This is my go to place when I want a sit down Mexican meal. The ribeye steak is outstanding. Service, food and atmosphere is great, what more do you need?

Came upon this place by accident (we had just finished a Segway tour about 3 blocks away). Walked in for a late lunch, and boy did it hit the spot! An iced-cold Strawberry Margarita, a beer, and a Sprite started our our lunch. The combination platters were delicious (our plates were practically clean when we finished), and the chips and salsa hit the spot. Overall, this was a true gem we are glad we found.

Plaza Garibaldi has some of the best Mexican food in Seattle. Huge portions, great sauces, quality meats...they remind me of how good the Azteca chain used to be. The drinks are also great, but the bartenders are very generous so lightweights beware! They have a pretty large building, so they've been great at accommodating large groups on short notice. The service is always friendly and efficient, and though the kitchen tends to make small mistakes, they never hassle you if something is wrong and they fix it quickly. If you're in the downtown area, catch a Rapid Ride D Line or a #2 or #13 to Denny and 1st Ave N. After you enjoy a meal, Seattle Center is right across the street!

I went here with high expectations from yelp. I did enjoy my visit the food was good but didnt blow me away. However you must get the churros mine was filled with bavarian cream and were amazing. Big portions you wont leave hungry.

Met local friends there for dinner. We were visiting from the desert southwest where we have loads of Mexican food restaurants. So we were skeptical. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The place is spacious, staff is friendly and you can practice your Spanish without embarrassment. Lol! They will also sing to you on your birthday if you let them know. Parking is on the street is cheapest and you have to pay but there are two rather expensive pay lots next to the restaurant. The chips and salsa arrived quickly as did our drinks of margaritas and sangrias. We ordered chicken mole and tacos al carbon. Both were delicious and prepared authentically. Prices are reasonable for a large city. Karaoke is offered weekend nights.

Went for a late supper date on a Friday night. Busy spot, but not too noisy (until the karaoke started in the bar, haha). The food was delicious, starting with chips and spicy salsas. We each had a combo plate and shared the fried ice cream for dessert. Prices are quite reasonable (dinner, dessert, 2 draught, and 1 margarita was about $55). Great food and fast, friendly service. Would definitely go again when in Seattle!

We walked to the nearest Mexican restaurant from our AirBnb and was pleasantly surprised. Starting with their chips and sausa which was excellent. Many Mexican restaurants salsa is weak but this was tasty and had some substance to it, chips were also excellent. From simple tacos to our meals we all kept commenting how good it was. Area a little sketchy but food excellent! Serves was great! Prices reasonable.

this used to be Jalisco... as an FYI and is located on lower Queen Anne. love the Mexican themed interior. Prompt and good service. Each table gets freshly baked chips and salsa (2 kinds). Two of us had a crispy taco with rice/beans (plenty to eat) and one Pollo Asado. Total bill came to $19.89 for that before a tip. If you drive into the alley they do have a some free parking space. Must come before noon to get one. Large restaurant. Lots of menu choices. It does get quite noisy inside. It seems to be a very popular place

Plaza Garibaldi opened recently near Key Arena. Sat at the bar two different nights and was very impressed by the fresh food, big portions and great service by Pepe. The chips are thin, crisp and warm, the salsa is excellent, and the guacamole is wonderful. I can recommend the Tacos al Carbon, the happy hour taquitos, the ground beef tostada and the chicken mole. The mole sauce is more chocolate flavored and very unique!

Nobody should expect to eat Mexican food in the US that compares with the range and quality of what one finds in Mexico, but Plaza Garibaldi delivers very good quality Mexican-American food for a very fair price. Portions are large, service is friendly and quick, and there are a few free parking spaces behind the restaurant. You really can't ask for more in this neighborhood.

Blended margueritas no taste. Food less than mediocre. Tacos bland. Fajitas burnt and chicken dry/old. Service rushed although not at all busy

To-go review only. My husband & I recently tried their carne asada & beef fajitas to go when I wasn't feeling like going out. They had it ready super quick and their portions are huge! The food was a little too seasoned for my liking, but seemed like pretty good quality. I was a bit annoyed that I had requested no beans with extra rice in my to-go order and to go home and find out they didn't catch that was frustrating, but that's just a little gripe; it's just the risk of ordering to-go anywhere. Decent Mexican in the area, nothing amazing, but not bad.

While you are perusing the comprehensive menu you are served complementary chips & salsa. Unfortunately starters & mains arrive together, what’s that all about, but the food was very tasty & full of flavour. Delicious. We also ordered the deep fried ice-cream, yummy!! Come here hungry as the portions are enormous. Very good friendly service Located 10 mins walk from Space Needle. Highly recommended.

Walking down the street after seeing a game. Found this restaurant. The salsa was great - perfect blend of taste and heat. They also served a mexican slaw/pico de gallo which I had never had before and which was very good. The service attentive. Would go back. I had carne asada tacos and they were very tasty. The margaritas were fantastic - smooth and knocked me out.

Very comfortable Mexican Restaurant - better than most we have found in Seattle. Excellent Happy Hour from 4-7 daily with $5 price points for food and drinks for nice sized portions. Food is quite good and very flavorful. Regular menu is quite varied with large portions. Staff was very attentive and friendly. A very enjoyable experience.

The service was great but not enough to offset mediocre food. Several appetizers, tacos, fajita salad, all nothing to write home about. Bland and tasteless.

normal Mexican restaurant fare but tasted much better and Seemed fresh not microwaved. Good portions. We had frozen mar baristas who'd had some taste of taquilla

Excellent food, excellent service, excellent drinks. Nothing more to say. Great location next to Key Arena.

Friendly service, complimentary Taco crisps and salsas, a delicious plate of Mexican style food and a bargain price.

We stumbled upon this restaurant while heading to a concert at Key Arena and didn't know what to expect by first impressions of the low key exterior. But what a pleasant surprise as we walked inside to the fabulous aromas all around. They were quite busy being a Saturday night, but we were greeted and seated quickly. We had the Fajita Supreme (Steak, Chicken and Shrimp) with green, red, and yellow peppers, onions and mushrooms. The drinks and food were scrumptious and delivered so quickly by our very friendly waiter. Best Fajita's we've ever had was the general consensus of our group of 3 and affordable. Can't wait to go back and try more of their wide variety of options.

This place is ideal for families, groups, business. Plaza Garibaldi serves fresh Mexican food with an American slant. They have a separate bar area for those looking for a more festive atmosphere. They serve complementary chips & salsa and have very broad selection of choices. I try to hit this place every few months event though it is not in my neighborhood.

If you are anywhere in the Queen Anne/Belltown area, Plaza Garibaldi is a must try! Delicious food and fantastic hosts. It is a quick 5-10 min walk from the space needle and never disappoints. I usually eat here at least once a week and try to catch karaoke on Friday or Saturday nights when I can!

Perfect for when you crave old fashioned American/Mexican food. Sauces/salsas are great. Everything meets or beats expectations. Plus they are available for delivery on several apps.

I was devastated when I found that the Taqueria Jalisco on 129 1st Ave N in lower Queen Anne had closed. I had frequented it weekly for good food and friendly staff every time I wintered over in Seattle, for months at a time. Now, I happily discover that the same free-standing location has been resurrected as the Plaza Garibaldi, with very delicious food and again, friendly staff. It is what I call a "full-service" Tex-Mex cafe. [Like, to me, a "full-service" Chinese restaurant greets you pro forma with a pot of green-jasmine tea, and a fortune cookie after the meal]. You are greeted with a basket of freshly-baked nacho chips, a condiment plate of tart and tasty chopped cabbage & onion, and a dish of salsa dip with onion and other spices. It is all good. It is very satisfying. I only regret that the new proprietor has removed the several overhead televisions, which were kept on low or off-volume. At my luncheon occasions they provided some distraction if there were no interesting diners to entertain. But I am sure others would say that this makes the cafe more authentic. They certainly did not spare expense with the new furnishings, which are very nice. All in all, I highly recommend Plaza Garibaldi. It is great. Go and enjoy, even if it means more crowds to have to contend with!

The chips and salsa were horrible...just so bland! Was really disappointed! I mean why go to have Mexican food if you can't have yummy chips and salsa...those should be the best BUT they were not! UGH! Everything else is good though!

I was not all that impressed. You're okay, the food was okay, the service was okay, the ambience was okay. So everything was just kind of mediocre. Not a place that I would necessarily recommend but it's good enough to be able to walk to from your hotel when you don't feel like driving

We have been twice and everyone there is welcoming, the food is very good, they have a good variety of Mexican beers on tap and a wide variety of menu choices. We will be back.

We have eaten here on a couple different occasions both prior to and after concerts at Key Arena. It is very close to the venue and has great food and very solid (respectably strong) drinks. I don't know that I would go out of my way to go here, but if around Seattle Center for any event, I would definitely recommend trying it out.

My husband and I had been going to Jalisco's for a long time until it closed. When we saw it was re-opening as Plaza Garibaldi, we were glad, but cautiously hopeful. They re-did the interior, new decor, freshly painted walls etc. The pleasant surprise is that the food is WAY better than it ever was at Jalisco's. We thought it might be a fluke, but after 4 visits now, it has been fantastic and we're looking forward to going back. The service was friendly and fast and the food ingredients fresh and tasty. I highly recommend!

We chose this place because it was close to the hotel. It was an excellent choice. The food was very good, the portions large and the prices reasonable. Service was very good and they have a good menu selection. We went with family we were visiting and they never rushed us to leave even though we stayed a long time to chat after our meal. We would definitely eat here again.

We had heard that this was a good Mexican restaurant-better than average. We were pleased with friendly service, extensive menu, and most importantly, good food. The decor is lovely, with beautiful tile.

We go to this restuarant once a month and we are always impressed by how absolutely nice the employees are here. The food is outstanding, and the atmosphere is pleasant also. They always remember us, and ask about our baby and go out of their way to make sure we have everything we need and always ask about the food. It is an aboluste pleasure to dine with them, and you really feel like you are eating with family. I highly recommend their house specials. Everything we have eaten here has been wonderful....and don't forget the Margaritas!

We were looking for Rice 'n Spice for some Thai, and well...it had been leveled! The aroma of Mexican Food hit is and we thought why not! Family owned restaurant with Great service and really good food and LOTS of it! The shrimp Chimichangas were really good! 2 chimichangas lots of shrimp, rice and beans! The boys had Grilled Steak Burrito that was about 16inches long and stuffed with steak, onion, peppers rice and beans! Not what I came to Seattle expecting to eat but I would definitely go again!

Just got to Seattle and had lunch at the closest one. One can always tell a great place by the salsa and pico and they were excellent. I had the shredded beef Chimi and my date had the burritos and we both went away completely satisfied. Staff prompt and very friendly. Would not hesitate to recommend.

The low key exterior doesn't give away the fact that there is really good food inside. Their food hits the spot that only well prepared Tex-Mex "Mexican" food can and that I find difficult to find so far north of our southern border. The tables and dining area as well as the washrooms were all spotlessly clean.

After spending a couple of hours being blown away at Chihuly we came upon Plaza Garibaldi while walking back to our hotel, tired and hungry. As noted in other comments our meal of fajitas, margaritas and churros was tasty but not outstanding. However we did find the atmosphere welcoming and relaxing, something we were looking for. Our server, Berna, gave us very good service, attentive but not overblown. She was enthusiastic and made us feel like we had been invited for a family meal. A pleasant end to a busy day.

Excellent lunch, food was fast hot and perfect, drinks are no shame either. The service was outstanding prices are reasonable and this is what I like in Mexican food, smothered in cheese, sour cream and guac came as sides no charge and even the rice was good and I'm not a rice person. Loved the beans and the chips and salsa would make me come back for more, lets see chips, salsa and margarita's that sounds like a nice afternoon. Really I can't rave enough about this place after so many other failed places I've gone to.

If you're like me, you love mexican food. Plaza had one of my favorite salsas, great flavor with a good amount of heat. FREE CHIPS AND SALSA... maybe I'm expecting too much from mexican restaurants, but when I go, I expect free chips and salsa which is harder and harder to come by these days. Plaza Garibaldi offers this and more, they also serve you up a very interesting mexican slaw/pico de gallo with your chips consisting of cabbage, tomatoes, onions, cilantro and more... very tasty. The service is warm and welcoming, the food fantastic. If you're visiting the space needle, seattle center, pacific science center or lower queen anne, this place definitely deserves a visit! Oh, and the margaritas were fantastic (that's the most important thing right?).

Decent Mexican food. Chips and salsa were ok (runny salsa), food was pretty good. Average Mexican food restaurant.

Great local Mexican close to our hotel (homewood suites). Not cheap but not crazy expensive either. I had a build your own burrito...it was really good. Black beans as a side were great. Highly recommend.

We were visiting Seattle and ate here two nights in a row. The food is very good and the portions are huge. Plenty of food to share with 2 or 3 people. Prices very reasonable as well, great place to go with a fun atmosphere.

My wife and I are visiting from Oregon and read the great reviews for this restaurant. My wife has Celiac disease, and usually can eat in most Mexican restaurants. With that said Plaza Garibaldi uses a wheat based soy to marinate their chicken and fish dishes. While they do offer several vegan options, there were no options for her to add protein to her dishes. Service was ok and the food was just ok as well.

Visited Tuesday, July 21, 2015 and was impressed. I never ate at an authentic Mexican Restaurant before. Service was top notch and the food was amazing. I believe because of this experience, I'm going to eat REAL Mexican food from this point forward. The chicken & Rice soup was seasoned just right and my main course was superb. Thanks for making my first time experience one to remember.

I met some business associates here for a meeting recently, and although the food didn't blow us away, it wasn't disappointing either. Plaza Garibaldi serves all the basic staples one would find at a Mexican restaurant, and everything we had was good, just not great. The service was a high point as they were fast, attentive, and friendly, but not overbearing. It was also quiet enough that we could hear one another with no problems so the meeting went well. The decor is festive, but not garish. I will return for lunch again.

As good a meal as we have had while on vacation in Mexico. The staff were friendly and all the meals were ample and well prepared. Worth a visit.

To be honest, we stumbled across this place as we went walkabout in a search for a food place. We were really quite pleased with it. It was a bit quiet, but it WAS Sunday, so to be expected. Service was good, and our food was really tasty. It doesn’t look much from the outside, but I would recommend if you like Mexican food.

I had the crab enchiladas and they were excellent -- lots of crab and a good tomatillo sauce. Rice was pretty good, too, although the beans were your average refried. My companions like their seafood chimichanga, arroz con pollo and tortilla soup. The star of the show was the very generous serving of traditional fish ceviche. Good selection of draft beers.

Went solo while on a business trip on Saturday evening. Had the ribeye steak with a great tomatillo salad, rice, pinto beans and grilled plantain. Wonderfully flavored steak. Great presentation. Highly recommend!

I was skeptical about it because it's way too far from Mexico but I was gladly surprised when I tasted the food, it was great and it was almost like being in my country, great service too

My family has grown up eating out at Mexican restaurants. When Plaza Garibaldi opened, it received a warm welcome from the restaurant reviewer in Seattle and I took a look at their menu and was very impressed with the quantity and variety of items. There was even a vegetarian section for those interested. It passed the test for us and we will be returning again.

Aren’t all Mexican restaurants alike? It sometimes seems like it. At the Mexican restaurant near where we live, all food items contain onions, and you cannot order menu items without onions. This is a problem for me. When I ordered at Plaza Garibaldi, I asked which of my three choices contained onion. The server said, “None of them do, but we can add onions if you like.” I declined, but was pleased with how accommodating they were. The food was very good, not as spicy as at other restaurants, which we both preferred. Staff kept my water glass filled, and brought us a second bowl of chips and extra tortillas without us even asking. Service was nothing short of outstanding. I can’t remember the last time we had such good service, and the place was fairly busy, too!

My husband and I were walking to the market when we passed by this restaurant on Queen Anne and decided to eat here for lunch. First, they gave us two salsas with the chips and the one that looked really fresh was very good and spicy but not too spicy. The other salsa was your typical one that is served everywhere. I ordered the side chicken enchailada and my husband ordered the lunch burrito, that is served with rice and refried beans. He asked if he could substitute the refried beans with black beans and it was no problem. We both enjoyed our food very much but felt they put too much chicken in both the enchailada and burrito. I would definately come back again but would ask for less chicken in my enchailada.

In our recent trip to Seattle after walking around for two hours we stopped by to have a margarita to cool off. The drinks were great and watching food ordered by others we ended up getting some food too. If we go to Seattle again we are certainly going to stop by there again. Great mexican food, drinks and service.

we did not feel like going out to eat that night for dinner and wanted to try the local Mexican food. the food was wonderful we had 2 different styles of tacos and they were so filling and you can tell all the ingredients were freshly made that day.

This place is absolutely amazing and delicious!!! It reminds me of my grandmas food; it's is authentic and great! I would highly recommend this place to anyone!!

We were pretty tired from our long day in the city so we decided to eat in. Close to where we are staying Plaza Garibaldi was just steps away so we picked up a menu and ordered, picked it up and was so very pleased. Food was the best Mexican food we have ever had. Everything was delicious lots of flavor and their homemade hot sauce watch out if you are a weakling it is hot. Would go back in a heart beat so highly recommend this place.
Positive experience
The restaurant offers large portions of very good Mexican-American food. The service is friendly and very quick. And the price is very affordable.
