Not the place for me!

By koleke |

My husband and I travel to San Diego about once a year to spend a few days. We have eaten breakfast here in the past, but this was our last time. Our meal was $30.00!!!!! We had coffee and a two egg breakfast with meat and toast. My bacon was undercooked and I couldn't get the attention of the waitress during the whole meal to get her to fix it; it was so greasy I couldn't even swallow it. The do not have flavored creamer (which is a must for me!) either. When we told the manager upon paying he said we should have told the waitress. He did not offer to discount the unedible meal or fix the problem. The only good thing about the place was the Kona coffee!

Good food and attentive staff

By anlof9 |

Had breakfast at the Cafe, the food was good and tasty. Service from Rod was very attentive. I didn't like they falsely advertised on their menu "freshly squeezed orange juice" when in reality it was no better than minute maid carton OJ. The place is a mix of old and new. Menus were a little sticky with syrup and stuff, other than that it was pretty clean. Prices were very fair.

Good food

By CapeCodTenor |

Good food and wait staff. The wait staff never turned down a request when I was asking for directions or things to do.

Good place, good service..

By William G |

The portions were big. The service was excellent. And it was right next to the hotel. The staff was really friendly....

Great food and exceptional service

By meawolfy |

It was our first time to visit San Diego and my cousin took us to this cafe, and we were not disappointed. We were greeted by Bing. She is friendly and very attentive. She told us to try their tequila shrimp taco. It was superb! We will definitely go back on our next visit.

Decent Breakfast. Staff a little iffy.

By J K |

We stayed at the Holiday Inn right next door and were given breakfast vouchers for $7.50 to use at the cafe. The cafe was nice. Food was decent. The staff was okay. There was only one waitress which we really liked who was very cheerful and friendly the rest were so-so. My husband ordered french toast and the waitress asked him if he wanted fruit topping on his french toast. i thought that was an extra charge but the way the waitres said it made it seem like it was free. He started asking what flavors they had, and i interjected and asked if there is an extra charge for that? When i asked she said Yes it was an extra charge. My husband told her no fruit topping b/c he only was interested in it if it was free. I didn't like that. If its an extra charge you should mention it ahead of time or don't offer it like its free. Another waitress did the same thing to me on a different day when i ordered pancakes asking me if i wanted bacon and sausage on the side. I just said no, b/c i knew there was a charge for it. One day a waitress made it a point to make sure we tip. I guess people using the vouchers don't tip the full breakfast value but to make sure we tip was not necessary. we always give 20%

Great Service, Good food

By denisem306 |

This was a good Cafe, the server was really nice. I had to go print off my bording pass so I left my son at the table and when I came back my son was eating and the waiter brought my food out that he was keeping warm for me. I appreciate those little things waitstaff do to make the visit more enjoyable. I would eat here again, good food reasonable prices.

Good solid breakfast; excellent corn muffin

By Kevin S |

We had breakfast here, and I had one of the skillets (meat, potatoes, and eggs), and a corn muffin. The muffin was excellent, and the skillet was good, although more potatoes than I could eat. If you are in the area, this is a fine place to go for breakfast, but nothing extraordinary that would make it worth a special trip.

Nice place for breakfast

By So_Cal_Illini_81 |

It is a very open and clean restaurant. It looks to be attached to a Holiday Inn (I came in from the street). I had pretty good service. I ordered biscuits and gravy and they came in a huge bowl swimming in gravy. The gravy was good - not great. I'm not sure I would get it again but it is better than average for restaurant biscuits and gravy

Point Loma Cafe at Holiday Inn Bayside

By Diana T |

The service at Point Loma Cafe at Holiday Inn Bayside is wonderful, clean, fast and friendly service.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn - Bayside and Ate Multiple Meals Here, Would Recommend !!

By Rod |

We stayed at the Holiday Inn - Bayside a Night Before and a Night After our Disney Wonder cruise. We ate Breakfast Twice and Lunch Once at the Point Loma cafe and were very pleased on each encounter with the Food, Staff, Cleanliness and Ambiance of the Restaurant. We had three young Girls with us ages 9, 7, and 6, who were able to eat off the kid's menu for free since we were staying at the Hotel. For Breakfast each day the Girl's all ordered the Pancake Breakfast and the Pancakes came out looking like Mickey Mouse Head, so they were thrilled, since we were going on the Disney Ship, the staff was also very friendly and taken with the Girls and brought them extra things for Breakfast, on both occasions for Breakfast, even though they were different waiters. The Adults had regular Breakfast items of Eggs, Bacon, Toast, Hash Browns etc ... and everything was good and also nice sized portions. For our one time Lunch the Adults ordered Sandwich Plate , and a Cobb Salad for the Adults, and then Pizza for the Kid's along with some Soup ..... again everything was very tasty and good sized portions, in fact the Cobb Salad was pretty large and only able to finish abut 60% of it, we asked for Iced Tea to go, and they brought our two large cups for the adults, and again the kids received a discount since we were staying at the Hotel .... Overall this is a hidden gem and would highly recommend eating here if near by or staying at the hotel.

Fantastic Food

By lovetotravel06 |

This is the best experience that I have ever had in a hotel restaurant. Fantastic foods such as vegetable soup, fish tacos, a breakfast skillet and an incredible turkey club sandwich were very good. Everyone on the staff was efficient and pleasant. I didn't wait too long for my food. The customer service was excellent. Someone even helped me get directions. In the restaurant the décor was attractive and clean. Their prices were reasonable.

Good Enough

By Ken F |

This restaurant is right on the Holiday Inn property which makes it super convenient when you're staying. It's a nice restaurant with a pretty solid menu. Each of the three of us tried different entrees and they were all good but nothing great. The portions were nice and the food was well prepared. Service was a bit slow on this particular night, which was strange as it wasn't crowded. The wait staff was all very nice though. You cannot really go wrong eating here but there are likely better options if you have the time and inclination to wander a bit.

Good Food but High Price

By 670leannes |

The food was good at this property, but the price was high especially for breakfast. I had the special french toast which in spite of the high price tasted like most french toast. We did not come back as the value was not present.

Good food!

By rhine1784 |

We stayed at the Bayside Holiday Inn and this is the restaurant that is attached. We only had breakfast but it was delicious. I had an omlette with avocado and cream cheese. Extremley tasty! My wife had eggs and bacon which was extremely good as well. Good coffee too!

Killing time

By Brett H |

Took a nice walk past the airport and landed here. Out of the way place with great nachos - and you can eat and drink by the pool! Good times and a chill atmosphere.

Attracts patrons other than the neighboring hotel's guests

By Taughboyne |

We ate breakfast here twice in a four day visit to San Diego and would go back. We were not staying at the Holiday Inn with which this is linked but many of the customers were. The greeter and seater was pleasant and the initial drinks came quickly but the kitchen seemed overtaxed on one occasion when the service was slower than we would have liked. The eggs and toast were significantly above average, the decor relaxed and the setting, across a road from the bay and its marine-related services, was suitably rejuvenating. We were charged for a dish that was requested but not delivered and couldn't get the waiter's attention to correct the mistake; however the cashier had no hesitation in graciously apologizing and adjusting the bill. The Point Loma Cafe is considerably better than a fast food joint but not somewhere that merits a detour for those in search of a fine meal.

Flatbread for lunch (and dinner)!!

By Laurene K |

I reviewed this cafe for breakfast, then went back for lunch several weeks later! Wow! For lunch, we didn't really know what to order, but after talking to Carlos, we each ordered a different flatbread. What a great choice! One was the Lobster & Smoked Gouda; it was delicious. It had just a bit of spicy heat which intensified the flavor. The other was the Garlic Shrimp; it had 3 kinds of cheese which added to the wonderful saltiness of it. Carlos served each on a flat board. We could have gotten plates if we wanted. There were 8 pieces to each flatbread & each was $14. You can pick up like a pizza or use a knife/fork. Of course, we shared & I still had 3 pieces leftover for dinner that same night! Carlos was a great server; he didn't hover as we sat & talked. It was a fun & delicious lunch. I really like this place. The food is really good & the service has been terrific both times. It is becoming a favorite place for me.

Just OK; can you be a little more imaginative?

By Chuck |

Just dropped by for breakfast since it looked like the PLC was not just another chain restaurant. We ordered basic egg breakfasts, and came away thinking that it was just OK. The potatoes and the toast seemed to have been put through the deflavorizer a few too many times, and the service was just flat. Even simple meals should have some flair and be memorable, but our meals were extremely generic. I'd ask the manager: how can you make your basic breakfasts stand out?

Good food

By Annette M |

Where ever I go if s monte crust is on the menu I try it. This was in my top five. Oh and the nachos delicious

Excellent Breakfast

By dclewis |

Try the french toast for breakfast. Dinnertime menu isn't large but the food is good. And reasonably priced when compared to other hotels.

Breakfast visit

By knealed |

I ate here for breakfast when staying at holiday inn bayside and it was good food, I had fresh OJ and skittle American which was great and fresh and hot so no complaints and service was good and the tea was even quite good which is not easy thing to find a for a Brit in the US

Excellent food, good prices

By MRMartins |

went here so my wife could grab a bite and a coffee for me so we could kill time till check in at our nearby hotel. It was so worth it! wife got the cheese quesadillas and it came with all the fixings and a big size. she loved it. coffee was good, service was friendly and we were there for like 2 hours and no one cared. Saw some people with nachos piled high! and delicious looking overstuffed tacos!

Excellent customer service squiset food

By Jenny R |

Hade the pleasure off dinning at the Point Loma Café! and the food was exquisite. Thanks to the two cooks that prepared my plates Fausto & Ulices who were able to redefine the customer service process to meet clients’ changing needs; most amazing service from them. Don't even get me started with the manager Mario who has a very warm rapport with everyone he comes in contact with, follows up with clients to ensure no one felt forgotten or lost in the process waiting to be served and Clearly enjoys the “people” aspect of his position

Reasonable food

By Carole P |

Food ok. I think it's best to say exactly what you want as you end up with a plate full of potatoes and toast other wise, I don't like to see waste food. The staff quite slow but did try to please. I asked for fresh orange juice but when it came it was out of a carton. I think it needed some one in charge to over see Coffee continually topped up

Slow service and adverage food for insane prices

By AmethystScarab |

I just finished eating here for breakfast. I would have simply walked to Denny's for a better experience but my hotel gave me a voucher for a free meal up to $30. Little did I know I would almost use the entire thing on a small meal. I got a "Full Stack" (3) Pancakes for $8. I also added a side of "Applewood Smoked Bacon" (4 slices) $5, and Sausage (2 links) $5. To drink I ordered the fresh squeezed orange juice which I was somewhat surprised to see them carrying around in a pitcher. The orange juice itself was rather watery and has zero pulp, seemed more freshly mixed from concentrate than fresh squeezed. it also for some reason for more than 10 minutes to bring me when I requested a larger and the small empty glass was already at the table. This was not the firs time service was unreasonably slow. Looking around the entire restaurant I rarely saw a single server even though there were at least 3 working at the time. I started to wonder if they had some sort of game or TV show on in the kitchen. My pancakes were extremely dense and heavy. I was brought with them an incredibly small premeasured cup of pancake syrup. The menu clearly stated maple syrup but this is definitely not real maple syrup, and instead one of the chemically created maple flavored pancake syrups (the kind you expect to come in a gallon and above sizes at Walmart or a warehouse store). It had been sitting out so long it had developed a thick congealed film at the top. The bacon was over cooked and the sausage was only cooked on one side and cold. They did bring me some watermelon and an orange slice for some reason with the sausage, not sure if I was charged for it but I guess it looked nice. Shortly after I began eating I needed a second orange juice and more syrup. The host at the counter saw me looking anxiously for my server for an extended period and eventually came over and asked if I needed something. He then quickly got me the refill on my orange juice and another premeasured cup of syrup complete with congealed surface. This really made me question what took my server so long to get me the first glass of OJ (or anything else for that matter). I only saw my server again when he came by and reminded me that the voucher only covers food and tax but not gratuity. After which he quickly vanished back to the kitchen. I waited for a while for my check so I could determine his tip, but he never returned. Eventually I calculated out how much it would have been based on menu prices without tax and left a small cash trip of about 12% which I feel was overly generous. I was actually shocked to see a TripAdvisor certificate of excellence on their wall considering my experience. I actually felt I needed to come online and verify as it looked someone odd and almost fake. The site does have the log on this restaurant but doesn't say what year. If I go back it will only be because the food is free and definitely wont happen if I am in a hurry, as walking anywhere and back will be faster than the service I had today.

Bad Weekend For San Diego Resturants

By prosailortim |

Came here for New Years and Stayed at the adjacent Holiday Inn. We were deciding where to get breakfast after checking out and decided to give this place a try. After being seated we waited awhile to get menus. We place our drink orders and were served promptly, we then ordered. Now this is where it goes bad, from where we sat we had a clear view of the kitchen. After 20 minutes of placing our order I see our food placed up on the warming counter where the waitress pick up the orders (several other orders were on this counter as well). The waitress were no where to be seen, my wife takes note of what time it is. 15 minutes later the wait staff appears and begins serving tables. The table next to us gets served first, their food looked old and cold. Now comes our meal a few minutes later, it was old and cold as well. the waitress says she'll warm our items up, we say "No Thanks" and offered to pay for our drinks (1 diet coke). So to say the least we had two disappointing experiences this weekend with food.... hope the new year gets better.

Good food, friendly staff

By J B |

We had several meals here while staying at the Holiday Inn. The first meal we had was dinner. We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time so we got a lot of attention from the staff. The staff were all very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with several of them. The food was so good. I got the short ribs and the meat was very tender. The carrots were so good. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Nothing was over seasoned or too salty. My husband had the cottage pie, (they called it shepherd's pie but it was made with ground beef), which looked very good. He enjoyed it. It looked very good and there was a lot there. He was not able to finish it. For breakfast one morning I had the Two Egg breakfast. It was very good. The potatoes were good, as was the bacon and the eggs were prepared just as I asked. Another morning I had the special which was a pancake sandwich. It was also very good. It came with two pancakes, two eggs and two sausages. Everything was prepared just right and it was very good. There were no TV's which was good. I do not like to eat at restaurants that have TV's. I'm there to eat, not watch TV. I can watch TV at home or in my hotel room. Service was always fast and friendly.

Filling Breakfast

By Jsimpson1544 |

We had the breakfast coupon from Holiday Inn Bayside for $7 and we had the single egg, biscuits and gravy, potatoes and a couple slices of fresh fruit. Thank you Rod and Bing for excellent service and a great breakfast.

Highly Suggest

By hpl2222 |

Calamari is really well cooked and battered. The Cobb salad is a big portion. Mahi mahi tacos were good and comes with chips on the side. Corn muffin is fantastic!!!!!

Laid back breakfast

By joangel418 |

Fantastic place for breakfast. We were glad to have this restaurant close to our hotel. The food was really tasty and plentiful. The biscuits and sausage gravy was perfect and their service was quick. Our server was friendly and didn't bother us over and over like some places. She did keep our coffee cups filled and I appreciate that.

great food

By derrick b |

service and food are excellent. Staff is very friendly and see to it you are 100% satisfied. Most have been there for some time and are very good at what they do

Hot breakfast

Friendly and talkative staff. Large portions. Pets are welcome! Good view of thr marina across the street.

Good food, Great Service

By SebastianandMichelle |

Our service was friendly and food was well prepared. This place had a huge list of variations of the breakfast staples like omelettes, scrambles and pancakes. Large helpings. I would eat here again, good food reasonable prices.

Slow and expensive

By Amber G |

We stayed at the Holiday Inn so we had breakfast here one morning. I ordered from the bakery and my kids ordered from the menu. I've never waited so long for eggs in my life. I also ordered a coffee with my cinnamon roll and the coffee was so bad I had to ask for a glass of water instead. To top all of that off, the bill BEFORE tipping was $50! Absolutely outrageous and I absolutely would not recommend this place regardless if you're staying here or not. Simply not worth the price or the hassle.

Great value and excellent food!

By Connie H |

I stayed at the Harbor Island Sheraton from 3/26 - 3/30/14 and took one look at the menu and knew I didn't need to be there for breakfast (boring menu/exorbitant prices). So I went west on Harbor Drive, passed the airport, passed Nimithz Blvd corner and in the next block on the right was Point Loma Cafe. Great service, prices, and food. It is a bit small, with about a dozen booths, a half dozen small tables and two tables that can accomodate 5-6 persons each. Try this place!

OK 'Diner' style food

By OnTheCoastAl |

I stayed at the attached Holiday Inn, although this restaurant seems to be independent of it. As such, I visited the cafe for breakfast only. It was 'OK' with diner style food and service - nothing spectacular, but big and filling breakfasts (with lots of fried food!) and copious cheap coffee. Service was pleasant, and the food served quickly - just what is needed in the morning (especially when travelling on business!).

Bayside Bar

By TMT90 |

Hector, Cesar, and Tony made my stay here at the Holiday Inn Bayside fantastic! We frequented the bar almost on a daily basis and if it weren't for these three individuals we would have probably went to a different bar. They were all incredibly personable, approachable, and lightning fast at serving drinks. I couldn't have asked for a better staff and would definitely stay here again just for them!

Good Food

By Dan M |

Potatoes needed to be cooked all the way, great service, pretty good food otherwise. Good Value. Good choices on the menu, they validate your ticket for free parking

A very good experience

By Sandy2645 |

The cafe is next door to the holiday Inn and mostly likely serves as their restaurant. We had breakfast there. The food and service were very good. Worth a return visit.

great food, slow kitchen

By Donna B |

we had breakfast here. The food was very good and the portions generous. My only complaint was the time it took from placing our order until the food arrived...a bit slow.

great food

By Lori W |

Great Service and great food....Carlos our waiter ROCKS!!

Terrific Service

By Catherine H |

The food here was really good, and the staff was excellent. Friendliest, most courteous waiters and waitresses, servers, and even buspersons ever. Ate here several times during the course of our 5-day stay.

Unbelievably delicious!

By Bulldoglynn |

2 dinners in a row and my entrees are phenomenal! Service is excellent. I asked for a special drink and for the bartender to surprise me. I gave him a couple ground rules and he beyond exceeded my expectations. I must visit.

Fresh and Flavorful

By KathleeenK |

Both times dining at this restaurant was worth it. All the food is fresh. Tasty tacos with different fillings. We ordered the mahi mahi, carnitas and short ribs. None was a favorite because they are all equally delicious.

A good sandwich for brekky

By drdanielmacdonald |

Ate here with restaurant.com.. A solid sandwich, a good tortilla soup and a comfy booth adjacent the marina and part of the Holiday Inn complex. A good choice if in the area...

Very disappointing

By Julia C |

Service slow, lots of buzzing around but not much actual service. Waited 10 minutes just to get a cup of watery, thin, tasteless coffee. Place is very loud and clanky, dishes rattling, utensils clattering. We won't eat here again. Lots of better choices in the same vicinity.

Good breakfast

By Ritajay |

We had breakfast here twice, the first day the special was a seafood omlette, with tomatoes, crab meat and cream cheese. So delicious! We came back and tried their eggs benedict, and that was very good. The portions are quite large. Nice and bright restaurant near the airport.

BAYSIDE BAR AGAIN

By SoCalOregonian |

This review is for the Bayside Bar, a bar/pub restaurant, co-located with the Point Loma Café. When the Point Loma Café is closed, which is often, the Bayside provides the same menu options as the café. We stayed at the Holiday Inn, and had dinner here on Dec 6. Service was good; food was good with large portions. As it was inclement, the outside dining area was closed. We had for dinner, a club sandwich, a Kobe burger, water and a margarita; total $39.37 w/tax before tip. Not a bad dining option.

Pleasant and convenient

By Vicki V |

This restaurant is part of the Holiday Inn Bayside. It opens very early so you can get on with your day. The food is very good, especially the breakfasts, and they are very big portions. Most of the time we only got a snack for lunch!

Nice surprise while staying at this hotel for the first time.

By MiamiJames |

Tired and not wanting to stray too far from the hotel for dinner, as I had an early morning flight, I decided to give this place a try. Located right in the middle of the Holiday Inn Bayside buildings, it was a very short walk. The service was good, and everything was served quickly, even the main course. The top sirloin was cooked a perfect medium-rare for me and was very tasty, as were the mashed potatoes w/gravy, and mixed veggies. Now I have a great place to dine when I stay at the other end of the bay.

Bayside Bar

By Vacation232417 |

Hector, Cesar, and Tony at the Bayside bar are amazing! We went there for 2 weeks for work and went to the bar all but 2 nights to eat/drink due to the awesome staff. Hector was very friendly, professional and accommodating. Cesar was friendly and fun to talk to and hang out with at the bar. Tony was also personable and funny. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting for business or pleasure. They also have a great happy hour at the bar!! Definitely a must!!!

Good food

By Basia2012 |

Have eaten here in the past and once this visit. Food consistently good. Just don't order Ceaser salad - I forget Amercians don't know how to make a proper Ceasar salad. Otherwise food and service good.

Great breakfests

By spot1956 |

If you are looking for a great breakfast, this is the place. The menu is varied and the portions large. The wait staff is on top of things.

awesome brunch

By Renato L |

I have been to a lot of brunch restaurants here in san diego. this place is very nice and classy considering the location. they served food generously in big plates and its really good. if you want a huge selection of menu items the choices of entrees is very minimal. the best time to go in this place is after 10 am to avoid the crowd. Parking is limited on site or else street parking is recommended at peak hours.

Excellent

By g3times |

Stayed at the Holiday Inn for a week for a USN reunion. Ate breakfast at the café every morning. Never a dull moment with Irene as your waitress! She is a hoot and a very good waitress as well. The food was good. Eggs were always done correctly, good bacon, great fruit (we substituted the potatoes for fruit each day). You can get a discount if over 55 also. Well worth it here, especially when Irene is the waitress!

Nice Cafe

By Theresa r |

While visiting my son who In the Navy we ate 3 breakfasts here. Never and long lines or crowds which was a treat. Only complaint service was a little slow. The omelets were very good and portions were large and filing. Irene was such a pleasure to wait on us. She took off a coupon for his military status. This café is part of the Holiday Inn which was convenient.

Outstanding Service

By Robert S |

Use a coupon for breakfast every year when we attend a veterinary conference and stay on nearby Shelter Island. Restaurant is sparkling clean, bright, and well appointed. Food is quite good and the service is indeed outstanding. Particularly enjoyed the exchanges with the hostess this year. Not often you have a chance to meet a U of Maine Alum. :) Watching the staff hustle while taking the time to be personable was impressive. Breakfast menu is not extensive and perhaps a little pricey for cafe breakfast but what isn't pricey in San Diego? Parking can be a challenge if you're not staying in the adjacent Holiday Inn.

Great for breakfast!

By Robin N |

I was staying in the Holiday Inn Bayside and this was convenient but it was also very good for breakfast. Everyone was nice and made sure you were welcomed.

Great for Breakfast

By Blonde L |

My Family & i stayed at the Holiday inn right next door and figured we should try the point loma cafe. The atmosphere was quaint. The space was small but it was not packed with people. The menu didn't really have a lot to choose from however the reason why i am giving it an 'Excellent" review is because of the quality, presentation & temperature of the food. You will not get this type of food at a denny’s or ihop. this food was perfectly cooked as well as brought to our table still steaming from the kitchen. It was not sat on the counter under a heat lamp. Our waitress was very friendly and struck up a conversation with us as soon as we sat down. All in all A++ for this Restaurant. Can't wait to try them for lunch.

Excellent diner style restaurant

By DesertRat011 |

Have eaten here often though we do not stay at nearby Holiday Inn. Food is fantastic and does not take long to arrive at the table. Eggs Benedict is delicious along with the southern style biscuits and gravy and are very reasonably priced. Waitress on duty in the mornings is delightful and has a great sense of humor. We much prefer this kind of dining to the overpriced and hyped restaurants of the Gaslamp and Hillcrest areas.

Good Food, Great Prices!

By NannaYinda |

We were in San Diego for the holidays this year. Our hotel was just across from the harbor and a more expensive restaurant. When we found out that they served breakfast all day and looked at the reasonable prices, we ordered breakfast at a brunch hour. Plenty of tasty food and fast, cordial service. Parking is limited to the street but we felt fortunate to find one parking place in the small parking lot right next to the café. We'll be back in the near future to visit our "city by the bay" and this will be the one restaurant that we return to for our first meal of the day.

Food is not so good. "CHECK PLEASE!!"

By CDE64 |

My wife and I and two daughters all sat down to eat, I asked for an ice tea, it was so cloudy and murky looking that I had to send it back and get a coke instead. I ordered a simple hamburger and french fries, the hamburger was okay, but the the french fries tasted odd, I think they needed to change the grease in the deep fryer. Also my older daughter said that her chicken fingers (strips) tasted rubbery. And my littlest daughter had mashed potatoes she would not eat them, I stuck my finger in them and they were cold and dry. I didn't even bother with bringing it back "CHECK PLEASE!!!"

Huge Sandwiches/Great Views

By jwja |

This Holiday Inn Deli/Cafe has a delicious variety of deli sandwiches at reasonable rates. It faces the bay and has spectacular views. Its prices for breakfast are quite reasonable for the area, my eggs were cooked to perfection.

Nothing special but adequate

By Robert T |

Having driven down from Las Vegas for the weekend we decided to try out the onsite cafe rather than venturing further into town. We both had a basic meal, one spaghetti dish and the meatloaf, both meals included either a bowl of soup or the house sald(which we had), the staff were efficient and the food arrived quickly, in all it was what you would expect from a onsite hotel restaurant.

Basic family style restaurant

By RosefromWAstate |

We has a dinner and a breakfast here. The dinner was OK and the price was reasonable. I had the yogurt and granola for a light breakfast and it wasn't very good...very small parfait and the yogurt was runny and sour (not like the good Greek yogurt I have had other places). My spouse had eggs benedict and seemed to like it fine.

Great Breakfast Place

By Alan F |

The service here is truly amazing. They appear to have the best waitstaff as a group that I have encountered at any restaurant. On top of the excellent service the food was super.

Great, reliable experience

By zzc09 |

We ate breakfast there several mornings along with two dinners. Food was good, well prepared, and service on point. It was an excellent choice as we were too tired to explore and this did not disappoint. I was very happy this was on property with our hotel, great addition.

Can't beat the breakfast

By APAT12345 |

The American breakfast was great and portions were good size. But if you really want something phenomenal, try the ham skillet, there's enough food for 2 days and it was great rewarmed too. Prices were fair

Great Place for Drinks and Dinner

By Yosemitesteve |

This place is located near Holiday Inn across from the harbor. We opened up a tab and the friendly bartender got our drinks and we told him we’d be on the patio. We were checked on often and our food was ordered from the bartender and brought to our table. Some of the outdoor seating had fire rings and even though not cold outside these were a nice touch. I had Mac and cheese with lobster.Great choice, the pasta was creamy and the bits of lobster tasted perfect. My wife seldom has a chance for Monte Cristo sandwiches but they have them here. She orders them when she can and says this one was one of the better ones. When we come back,we will eat here again.

Good Experience

By NCam8410 |

We ate here a couple of times while staying at the Holiday Inn San Diego Bayside. The food was good, the service was good, and best of all, since we were guests of the hotel, the kids ate for free.

Great Breakfast selection

By AntnttaJ |

Since our hotel's continental breakfast didn't make the cut we went looking for a nearby restaurant other than Denny's that would feed us. This place had a huge list of variations of the breakfast staples like omelettes, scrambles and pancakes. Large helpings. But nothing extraordinary about the food themselves. Worth trying if you are in the area looking to catch breakfast.

Great breakfast

By Jim T |

My wife and I ate here a number of times, since we were attending a ship's reunion at the Holiday Inn. The full breakfast is a LOT of food. After our first experience of eating this feast we figured that would could order ala carte and was much happier with the amount of food. Don't get me wrong, the food was great...there was just way too much for any one person to eat. My favorite was a couple of eggs with the ham steak, very fresh and cooked perfectly. The staff here is very nice and willing to help out any way they can. Ask for the senior discount, if you are over 55 (10% off).

Yummy biscuits and gravy

By Debbie L |

We went there on looking for a good breakfast. They use Farmer brothers product which makes great coffee and other products. Enjoyed very much.

Convenient, good food, great service

By Tamara M |

We had breakfast there twice and dinner once. Food was tastey, service was very personable. I would for sure eat here again!

Excellent Breakfast with free parking

By RaptorMD |

My wife and I ate here on our final day in San Diego. I had the Western skillet, 3 eggs, cheddar cheese, potatoes, bell peppers, and onions, with 2 full pieces of sour dough toast. My wife had the chorizo eggs and wheat toast. Both breakfasts were excellent. Our waitress was super nice, but disorganized... Parking is free when you have the cashier validate parking. Parking in San Diego can be difficult to find, this is a definite plus.

Long wait.

By Alicia W |

My boyfriend and I ate here twice because of a breakfast deal with Holiday Inn. The first time was okay. The Belgian waffle was pretty tasty but the waitress didn't really pay much attention to us, and when she did, she didn't act like she cared much. The 2nd time was awful. Once we were seated, it was like we were invisible for at least 20 minutes. It would have been longer, but a waiter heard me ask my boyfriend if I needed to stand up and ask everyone if they could see us (who knows... we could have died tragically and not known it like the couple in "Beetlejuice"). After that, our waiter was apologetic and very attentive. The food wasn't the best - I didn't like the eggs and the potatoes could have been cooked longer. Not really sure how I felt about the biscuit & gravy either. Not terrible for free breakfast (not considering the wait), but I wouldn't go there any other way.

Travel agent review

By Vlo65 |

We came here after standing in the free breakfast line at our hotel for a long time. We ordered the special which was 2 pancakes, 2 pieces of sausage, 2 eggs and a cup of fruit. My husbands order was better than mine but was not as warm as he would have wanted, mine was cold, the eggs were overcooked for scrambled, (brown edges) the sausage was also cool. I sent it back and she was immediately back, the eggs were better but kind of wet still. sent those back and they finally got it good. I expected more.

Uninspired food

I ordered the Mahi and was looking forward to eating it. Unfortunately the fish was overdone and quite dry.

Very nice setting with helpful staff.

Ate breakfast here after reading good reviews. Everyone was super nice and worked well together, so service was excellent. Good food and coffee. Definitely would return.

Point Loma Cafe-good for lunch

By Pern453 |

Good for for lunch. It's near the Holiday Inn. We had sandwiches and burgers. The food was filling and reasonably priced. It looks fancier than it's menu is.

Big portions, good food, slow service but hey—it’s California!

By Pat S |

Cafe Point Loma is a good on-site diner if you’re staying at Holiday Inn Bayside but be Advised— if you need to be somewhere add on at least an hour for slow moving servers. Speedy is not in the vocabulary here but if you have time to kill ( a lot of time) stroll down at 6:40 am and order breakfast and don’t plan to see your check until nearly 9. This is a cafe that desperately needs those self check out processors that sit on the tables of bigger chain restaraunts. It takes time to first GET the attention of a waiter/ waitress and once you do, plan not to see them for a long time. At one point we wondered if maybe they didn’t have a kitchen but instead went to pick up our order somewhere else. When the food did arrive it was good, the portions were large which helped since you found you had a longer wait for your check. I eventually smartened up and asked for the check and takeout box when I placed the order. The hours are a little strange — they close at 530 and you can place orders at the bar next door— but same Hawkins Mataram service. I was attending a conference at this location so maybe time was a little more important but pick up the pace

Good Food, Great Personal Service & lots of Laughs!

By amanda5805 |

We were staying at the Holiday Inn Bayside before heading on a cruise. The Holiday Inn had two restaruants onsite. So when we arrived we were very hungry we had lunch luch on the patio on the pubside. Mike was our server and he was awesome. So funny and great to talk to after fly day. He was very personable. Felt like we had known him for ages. We liked him so much we came back for dinner. Lunch & dinner were both excellent. My only complaint would be the calamari was the blandest I have ever had. But hey some people like that. The drinks were perfectly made & mixed. They have a beautiful patio to sit on. We kind of ordered a few dishes and all shared. FlatBread Pizza was really good! Dinner we sat inside how it was a little cooler that evening. It was very busy seemed like even the locals liked this spot! We had Fish Tacos, Seafood pasta & Chowder. There Chowder is one of the bests! The evening Bartender was Tony. Another awesome employee. The next morning we figured why not have breakfast as well. Again incrdible service deleicious food and really good coffee. They also had us in and out in not time at all!

Very good Breakfast and service

By lotteeb2 |

We ate breakfast here for five days as it was included in our rate at the holiday inn bayside. We didn't quite know what to expect, but it was absolutely fantastic. There were limitations with our included rate. The children still are for free. The choice and portion size was excellent. Such a variety each day. The staff are lovely. A lady served us on two or three occasions she was excellent and also Rod was a very good server and another gentleman who was very tall, was also excellent with the family. This is an excellent place to eat, we really enjoyed and were sad to leave after five days.

Nice setting but average food, nothing special

By weggerzz |

We were staying next door at Yacht Harbor Hotel and since it was close we decided to give it a try for dinner and then again a few days later for breakfast. Both meals were nothing special, however, Roger, our waiter for dinner really tried to make things okay. Meatloaf was tasteless and looked more like a hamburger. A few days later we took our grandson there for breakfast and his meal was free since he is under 12 and we found out it should have been free for dinner too. Again, breakfast was okay but nothing special. Jodie was our waitress and she was a little too hyper for a relaxing meal, then she forgot to give us the free meal so we had to remind her and she was the one who suggested it to begin with. If you are really hungry, it would be alright but I'd go elsewhere.

Good Breakfast - Great Price

By Kevin R |

It was convenient, so I stopped in for breakfast. I wasn't expecting "non-California" prices. It was comparatively quite inexpensive. My eggs, toast, and breakfast potatoes were ready in just a couple minutes. The service was friendly. I'd definitely go back there to eat.

great food

By john g |

This is our 3rd visit, it's been wonderful each time. They offer coupons on restaurant.com, and other sites too I'm sure. It's part of the Holiday Inn on San Diego bay, about 15 minutes west of the Airport. There's a full menu, my wife always gets the fish taco's. There are fancier places nearby that are on the water, but if you want to pay extra for the view, I bet the food isn't as good.

A bit pricey for a hotel eatery

By amanda42 |

We ate here for 3 nights in a row because the two other choices nearby were packed when we needed to eat dinner. This place wasn't and it makes sense. We ate in the bar area which had the same two waitresses. They were not terrible but neither of them wrote down our orders and every night there were mistakes. They really were not attentive and although we were one of about three tables every night we had to get up and ask for things like ketchup, napkins, and our check. I understand they were also bartenders but it was pretty lame. The food was "ok" at best and very overpriced. It was an average of about $18 for dinner and a beverage every night. However, I can say the spicy buffalo wings are really good and we got those every night for $10.50 which I'm pretty sure is more than Chilis or Applebees.

Actually a little less than very good, but better than average

By MapleRidge2 |

Say it's a Sunday. Say, you usually enjoy brunch but your wife is out of town and you don't want to go to one of the regular places, but you want a filling breakfast. If you can forgo the fancy menus and specialty coffee and live in Point Loma you could do worse than Point Loma Cafe. Even around ten o'clock in the morning there is no wait. The service is fast and friendly and the food is several notches above Denny's. Nothing particularly special, but everything is competent and filling.

Try to soup adn sandwich

By derrick b |

Lots to choose from on the menu. I had the half sandwich and soup and it was more than enough and excellent taste. Great to not have to drive anywhere and just eat in the hotel. Great staff as wewll

Horrible service; very average food

By lsmkw |

We only had breakfast there - eggs were fair; toast undercooked, OJ good. It's supposed to open at 6 but even w guests waiting outside they opened late and appeared indifferent. We had an early pick up and so we left without breakfast.

The server manager needs training

The person who seemed to be in charge at breakfast acted like she was too good to serve my food, slapped it down just could not care less. The food was very average at best

Excellent food and service at a great price N Harbor Dr SDG

By jdbuller |

We stopped in after a big day at the San Diego Convention Center after passing the San Diego Airport we saw this restaurant. We gave it a try and we were all pleasantly surprised the sesame crusted salmon and the house cornbread were absolutely amazing texture and taste I found this location also an extreme value for downtown San Diego Thank You Hector for a fantastic service and I may add the garden salad with your homemade ranch dressing was a fabulous taste as well.

Batside bat

By tcarroll0306 |

Outstanding service at the bayside bar by Hector, Tony and Ceasar. Their quick service, attention to detail, freliendly demeanor and perfessionalism made the stay worth it. One of the best times had in San Diego. They made it worth it. BOOM.

Average Diner Food

By CdnTravelr13 |

Had breakfast here while staying at the Holiday Inn which is attached. Had breakfast here, which was your average bacon and eggs or pancakes, etc. A little expensive but not much else nearby.

Experience did not match other reviews

By Flygirlmsp |

We were staying at the holiday inn and were tired from a day of travel with a 1 year old so we opted to not go far and eat here. I had read the reviews and they were all good. Our experience was far from that! The cafe was closed but were serving at the bayside bar right next door. We selected a table and asked for a high chair. We had to ask 2 other times before the waiter finally brought us one. It took forever to order, get our food and check. The food was pretty decent once we did get it, except for my sons grill cheese. It came out hard as a rock and cold. Since it had taken forever in the first place we made do. There was plenty of staff it appeared and they all seemed discombobulated. I understand waiting when it’s busy but it wasn’t that busy and a majority of people were just having cocktails. From when we sat down till when we left it was 1 hour 45 minutes. The people around us having food were experiencing the same issues. Not sure what the issues were or just an off day as the other reviews are all good....I would not return myself and do not recommend this place.

Outstanding food and service

By marshalnk |

We were greeted by Irene who was friendly and advised us the mahi taco was great with the mango salsa she was so right!! The 1/2 club sandwich with tomato basil sop was outstanding. She gave excellent service. I was amazed at the food quality for a hotel. It was reasonably priced. she also mentioned the killer chocolate cake was great. It was a huge serving and we shared it with two other couples. Although it could be devoured by two. It was served with raspberries. The next morning we had breakfast and Greg, the server suggested the chefs scramble it was 3 eggs with onion, bacon, avocado, swiss cheese and roasted potato. We knew that we would have a long bus ride to catch cruise in Ensenada Mexico . Greg was wonderful and so friendly. Staff was outstanding. Will suggest clients walk the short distance to the free standing venue that is part of the hotel.

Slightly better than average quality Coffee Shop.

By Doug Rodrigues |

Good food. I had a Chicken Fried Steak that was delicious. I was somewhat disappointed that the steak wasn't larger, but okay never the less. The strong Kona Coffee was great. Service was prompt. Everything went well.

Good Resturant

Needed a place to eat while in an overnight stay between planes. Cafe located very near my Hotel. Excellent service, food, and price. Nice aymosphere .. full bar ... nicely decorated with bay few.

Delicious food & great staff

By BlackpoolMouse |

Ate here on our last night in San Diego & we were not disappointed. Lovely attentive staff, food was really delicious. As we were at the end of our USA road trip & missing some English comfort food we chose the shepherds pie & meatloaf which was just the best. Beautifully presented & really tasty made with good ingredients. Would certainly recommend this fab little cafe.

Great breakfast place!

By Robin |

It was the morning after my niece's wedding and we had a private room overlooking the patio. Service was very good and attentive. Everyone's breakfast came in a timely manner and was very good. Their corn muffins were a hit.

A very nice place to start the day

By Coolcruiser190762 |

We were staying at the Holiday Inn Bayside and had breakfast here every morning. The staff were very pleasant and efficient. We were seated and our orders taken very quickly. Unlimited tea and coffee was constantly offered by staff walking round checking your cup (in a nice and welcome way). The choice of food was very good and the egg benedict is to 'die for', absolutely fabulous. The place is clean and portions plentiful. Really pleased with the café and would definitely use it again.

Good Breakfast

By Traveler |

We ate breakfast here two times during our stay. It does get busy and may take a bit of time to get your food but if you aren't in a hurry it is worth the wait. Breakfast skillets are good and they keep your coffee cup full.

Short staff

By sam m |

Full restaurant 2 servers it was very bad service food was ok price was ok location good I think it was one of those days I'll give them one more chance they were trying

Great for breakfast!

By Joyce S |

We had breakfast here while staying this past week. The food was hot, served quickly, and the service staff were happy and friendly. Only complaint was the Farmer Bros. coffee.....just not a fan. At least it was hot.. The hot tea was also very hot, which can be difficult to find in restaurants.

Good food and reasonable prices

By Nancy Z |

We read some reviews that were not so great, so we were a bit leary. Our experience was good though. We had great service from our waiter, and the food was really good. My hubby got the Halibut dinner, and I had the point loma café special..... which was a burger with fries. The order did not come out quickly, but when it did come out, it was hot and fresh. We really had no complaints here.

Don't dismiss the name

By flyingangela |

This is a restaurant attatched to the Holiday Inn. We ate here a lot aswell ,and once again never had a bad meal or service. Their food was excellent value for money (and cheaper than JFAT), and what you could get at this place, you also could eat at the Bayside bar (also Holiday Inn). Enjoyed their fish & chips too!

Great breakfast choices!

By WeLuvARoadTrip |

Had breakfast here. Food was very good, served quickly and nice and hot. Great service even though the place was packed. Would eat here again.

Great cafe!!

By Kara B |

Great food, amazing service. This is the cafe that room service comes from for the Holiday Inn and it is fantastic!

Great Breakfast

By donnellyjen |

Great food and a great deal with Kids Eat Free if you are staying at the Holiday Inn Bayside. Our service was friendly and food was well prepared.

Hidden Gem

By SusanC |

This little restaurant is in the back of the hotel by the pool. If you haven’t stayed here you might not even know that it exists. We have dined here several times over the last few years and it never disappoints. The food portions are huge and you can basically share everything. On this last visit I tried the Cobb salad and it was so gigantic, I could barely eat half. It was fresh and all the toppings were fresh as well. It also came with a giant sized homemade corn muffin, which was so delicious! Our waiter was great! The service is always fast and friendly. We would probably come here weekly if it wasn’t so far away from us.

Great breakfast

By becky t |

We were in San Diego for a navy reunion and ate breakfast here several days. Food was good but Irene ( one of the waitresses) made it great. She has a great personality! Really good with her tables. This is a nice cafe for coffee, breakfast, whether alone or meeting someone.

This is next to the Holiday Inn. Feels...

By SuZenMaster |

This is next to the Holiday Inn. Feels like an Ihop/Denny's inside. Nothing spectacular - breakfast was fine - menu not as big as a chain. Service was slow - waitress had stains all over the front of her shirt. (Kinda' kills your appetite.).

Great place for breakfast

By indyann52 |

My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn on 7/24-26/2020. We ate breakfast at this sweet cafe. We had the best waitress both times but I didn't get her name. I felt so bad for her, while we were there she had several people complain about the coupon deal from the hotels (which she had no control over). And a family of 5 walked off with all the receipts, so in other words without paying. She was still so pleasant to us and on the second day remembered what our order was and gave us some extra attention. Sorry I didn't get her name. Oh, and the French toast and cinnamon roll were both delicious!

Convenient average food

By Lexizmom |

Decent breakfast, but pricey - $5 to add bacon to your meal! Unfortunately, it's a necessity unless you are up for a brisk walk in the morning to Ralph's or Starbucks.

Breakfast special was especially good!

By Laurene K |

A friend & I ate at Point Loma Cafe this morning for the first time. We both ordered the breakfast special of Eggs Benedict over Crab-cake over English muffin w/ chunky potatoes & fruit. Waiter said it was real crab! Sounded good for $12.95. We had a coupon with significant discount, but I thought the food was worth the full price. If you park at the Holiday Inn next door, the restaurant will validate parking. We arrived about 9:45 am & missed the breakfast crowd. The wait staff was courteous & kept the coffee refills coming. No one rushed us which was very nice. I will go back again to try lunch or dinner. Maybe we found a new good place hiding in plain sight in San Diego!

Poor selection of food.

By Honest (lee) |

If you like greasy calorie loaded food then this is the place. The staff do not speak "English/American" so don't expect a correct or efficient order.

Didn't ask for Orange juice - were charge for it!

By One Review At a Time |

We were on a small weekend getaway and wanted to go to a certain restaurant for Breakfast but unfortunately it had shut down, so we walked around H&M Landing but couldn't find anything, so we decided to walk to the Point Loma Cafe. As we sat down the place mats were dirty and one set of silverware was as well. Which sometimes that happens I get it! But what really made us kind of upset, there were tiny glasses on the table and the waiter came up to our table before even taking any drinks or anything didn't say anything and filled the glasses with Orange juice - they were really small glasses so we thought oh that's nice complimentary (just a small shot glass) of OJ until we are ready to order. Well that small glass ended up costing $4 each??? Are you serious?! The food was ok! Way to pricey for what you got. Will probably not go there again!

Holiday Inn

By Lynne J |

We went out of our way to go here based on comments but it was a good breakfast inside the Holiday Inn but average and typical menu.

Breakfast on the Bay

By SAC1962 |

I am here for a conference and staying at the Holiday Inn San Diego on the Bay. The in-house restaurant, Point Loma Café, is the place to eat breakfast if you are ever in this area of the city. The service to take my order was a little slow but the delivery of the order was prompt and the quality of the food excellent. The price of the Eggs Benedict was within reason. The staff was polite and attentive.

Nice Service

By Bagpipemarshall |

We stopped for a late breakfast with our granddaughter. We were seated quickly, served quickly with hot food. Coffee was kept filled and children's menu met our needs. Parking is tight - may need to use adjoining hotel parking lot.

Good food, awesome service

By LaserRanger |

We were here on a quiet Saturday afternoon. The food was good, but the service was outstanding. Extremely friendly, accommodating staff.

Amazing seafood!

By Karen R |

This place has the freshest seafood! All very delicious and worth the price. It's a must-do if visiting San Diego.

Eggs were dry

Omelet with avocado and cream cheese sounded good but the eggs were dry. Not sure how you get dry eggs. Was a close 10 min walk from our hotel. Breakfast tomorrow will be at the hilton

Only average

By jackiekay |

My husband and I visited this restaurant before heading out on a cruise. The waiter was unfriendly, never smiled, and seemed to hate his job. Lucky us! I had a Cobb salad. It was fine. Everything was fresh. My husband had a club sandwich and fries. He said they were fine too. We could have gotten these at almost any other restaurant for much less. They were $14 each.

better values/food elsewhere

By Warren J |

ceviche very average and lobster pizza was not good as we threw most of it out. I've heard burgers are good, but not willing to drop $18 to find out, especially with a jack in the box only blocks away.

Yummy restaurant

By Roberta S |

We were staying very close to this restaurant and the hotel recommended it. Gret choice. The food was excellent and the interior was decorated very nicely. It is part of the Holiday Inn but open to the public. If the Holiday Inn uses this as their restaurant for it;s guest, they are very lucky.

Very friendly service

By bookworm8 |

The menu tended to be American, nothing outstanding but nothing bad either....maybe overpriced a little. However, our waiter was so very nice and helpful that he made the meal a very pleasant experience.

Great food and service

By John R |

Ate here twice on our vacation; once for dinner and once for breakfast. Both times we had great food and great service. Located in front of a hotel and close to Shelter Island, parking is available on the street or with validation. Nice and relaxing atmosphere as well.

Great place for breakfast

By sarah_luce1 |

We were staying at the Holiday Inn Bayside for a few nights and had 3 breakfasts here. The hotel gave a coupon which gave 30 dollars off the bill and the kids ate free so we had an amazing breakfast each day for 5 of us for 20 dollars! Brilliant selection of food and the service was brilliant. Of particular mention was one of the waitresses Irene. She was fantastic! One of our kids is a really fussy eater and she was so good and patient with him. It made a good experience an excellent one!

Your average cafe

By EZCalifornian |

This cafe is on the premise of Holiday Inn San Diego Bayside. We were given a coupon for breakfast here with a value of $9. You can choose from your usual continental breakfast or from the menu(burrito, pancakes, waffle, french toast). If it's over $9, you pay the difference. We were here for a campus tour and the usual American 1 egg, sunny side up & wheat toast lasted a long time. The quality of breakfast is your norm. Nothing special...

Average food

Restaurant is decent, clean, and about average cost for the area. Not an impressive menu. Service was ok. Its located right on the harbor next to holiday inn and minutes from airport

A fantastic selection of food reasonably priced

By Chris B |

This cafe offers a full range of meals from breakfast through to dinner. The choice at breakfast is outstanding! Serice is great with friendly and helpful staff. As usual in the States, the portions are immense! Beware of a busy period around 07.30 as nearby military officers enjoy a great breakfast!

Great breakfast near San Diego airport

By Rhett L |

If you want a great breakfast near San Diego airport and the Point Loma area, this is your place. Great service and lots of tables inside for small/large parties.

Great food close at hand

By Scott_M_SubGuy |

Staying at the attached hotel for a couple night, I was looking for some food close by. I tried out the hotel restaurant and was quite pleasantly surprised and pleased. Dinner the first night was a delectable grilled halibut. Breakfast on another day was a mouth watering chorizo. The food was quite good, the service quite acceptable and the pricing not outside what you should expect. Portions were appropriate and both times I found the meal perfectly filling.

IT WAS CLOSED SO ATE AT BAYSIDE BAR

By SoCalOregonian |

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Bayside and found the Point Loma café closed when we went to eat dinner, so we went to the Bayside Bar, which is co-located with the PL café. The bar offers a full menu and service was very good. For our meal, we had a Calamari appetizer, 2 special sandwiches with fruit, a ½ sandwich, and 2 cups of soup and for drinks a coke, a tea and a margarita. Total with tax before tip was $83.55. A little high, but service was good, food was delicious and a nice view of the pool area. This is a good option when the PL café is closed.

Nice enough

By Amanda C |

This is the cafe located in the Holiday Inn Express. The food is good- but comes with hotel prices. My husband and I just ordered a la carte and were able to get biscuits, toast, bacon, and juice for a reasonable price as opposed to buying the pre-set meals on the menu.

Delicious, relaxing, comfortable.

By mxnbsnswthplsr |

The restaurant was closed for floor polishing, so we sat in the lounge area. Very comfortable, outside eating had fire pits in the centers of the tables. Food was good, happy hour fare was good, service was excellent. We would go back.

Excellent place

By Carlos Xavier M |

Food is very good, portions are gigantic, atmosphere is great. Lots of families but kids are very well behaved. Order the buiscuit and gravy as a side, it is a full breakfast on it itself and rivals any buiscuit and gravy I've had in the south.

PL CAFE CLOSED AGAIN

By SoCalOregonian |

Point Loma Café was closed, which I have come to find out is often, so this review is for the Bayside Bar, a bar/pub restaurant, co-located with the Point Loma Café. It provides the same menu options as the Point Loma Café. We dined here on 03/22 and it coincided with Taco Tuesday…What a bonus. We had orders of Carne Asada and Mahi-Mahi tacos (3 each). We also each ordered the side of black beans and rice. For drinks we had 2 margaritas and water. The tacos were fantastic. HIGHLY RECOMMEND them. Service was very good, with one minor exception, my wife had to ask twice for a refill for her margarita. There is outdoor patio dining, but we chose to dine indoors. Overall a very pleasant dining experience Total before tip was $41.48

Indonesian Waitress was Excellent

By MoviemakerLasVegas |

Our party of fifteen had breakfast at a large table made up specially from several small ones. The food was very good. One in our party wanted Huevos Rancheros, not on the menu. After brief recipe directions, it was created perfectly. All the orders seemed correct, hot and generous. Our server handled the entire party by herself with friendliness and expertise.

Good Food

By rhenness11 |

I was staying at the Holiday Inn Bayside for some work training. Had breakfast and lunch here. For breakfast I had the Number 1 omelette (sausage, jack cheese and onion). Was a nice big omelette that came with breakfast potatoes and toast was very filling. Coffee was decent as well. For lunch I had the turkey sandwich with fries. Also a good size portion. The wait staff was very nice and check back several times.

Wife and I spent a week at the Holiday Inn and the Point Loma Cafe was perfect, as it was only a few minutes walk from our room. Staff was very friendly and the food was great. Prices were very reasonable as well.

Excellent food accommodating people with Celiac Disease

By EandR C |

We had a very caring and attentive waitress by the name of Irene who watched out for me to make sure I had a pleasant dining experience. She really went above and beyond, and we appreciated her attention to detail and care. I had no problems with the food thanks to her!

Friendly, clean, and varied menue.

By EbonyOnly |

Nice location by the Yacht Club, across the street. We stayed at the Best Western Yacht Club which is a 3 minute walk from this restaurant. This establishment looks like a renovated business, but the staff was very friendly, food was hot and tasted good. You can't go wrong with this place.

Great meals and service

By Ngria |

Very friendly team and quick service. Breakfast was delicious hearty and fresh. I Wish I could show you my tasty, huge vegetarian breakfast omelet that was big enough for breakfast and lunch.

Understaffed, long wait, good food

By Maile C |

In a hurry? Go somewhere else! If you're on your way to the airport you may miss your flight. We live in the neighborhood and have eaten at this restaurant for many years, during its various name, management, and menu changes. Wait staff is friendly and works hard, but management isn't able to think ahead and plan for busy times. Hint: Weekends are busy and there should be more wait staff, especially when the Chargers are playing at home. We waited almost 10 minutes for someone to come to the cash register so we could pay our bill. $35 breakfast (2 of us) before the tip, they can afford to hire more staff!

Breakfast

By Dhplad1 |

Staying at holiday inn express so complimentary breakfast included($8.50 value). Ordered the hot cereal option ( oatmeal) along with blueberries. Also ordered the cinnamon roll ($4). Service was attentive, food was ok. Cinnamon roll not glazed very well so lots of " just bread". Oatmeal was lukewarm which degraded when I added the mountain blueberries ....

Group Breakfast

By Dis-Ability-Girl Goes AGAIN!! |

It was a joy to eat breakfast at Point Loma Cafe! The manager set up a table for our group, some of which didn't show, but we had a great time anyway! The food was very good and tasty and the portions were extremely large. I ordered the cinnamon vanilla French toast without powdered sugar and was so glad I did! It was just delightful with the perfect ratio of crunch on the crust to soft and sweet with a touch of cinnamon to add pop to the palate. I also ordered a side of bacon and a side of sliced bananas. The bacon was a little more crispy that what I usually enjoy but it was still yummy . I also enjoyed the decaf coffee and a small apple juice. My hubby had a mushroom and cheese omelette which was so large it could have fed 6 people! It was served with hash browns, toast and fruit. I highly recommend Point Loma Cafe for breakfast. It's a nice place where you can enjoy breakfast or lunch.

Excellent Food and Service, Try the Number Two!

By ChrisnSherry |

We were staying at the accompanying Holiday Inn and decided to try this place out our first morning there. We were so glad we did! I had the number two omelette with bacon, avocado, and cream cheese, and it was amazing. It was one of those items that you put in your mouth and you think you've tasted a little bit of heaven. I had never had that combination in an omelette along with cream cheese. So, of course, I had it the next day, too! My wife had the machaca shredded beef breakfast plate and loved it. The portions were very large. I highly recommend eating here.

Pleasant Surprise Cafe

We found this restaurant after having a terrible experience across the street at Jimmy's Famous American Tavern. We waited at Jimmy's for 40 minutes with terrible service and no lunch served. We were starved. We were immediately seated in the Cafe. The waiter, Carlos immediately took our drink and food order. We were served our drinks and meal totally in ten minutes. We were pleasantly impressed. The food was terrific and exactly what we ordered. We had cup of clam chowder and 1/2 a club sandwich. All was delicious and delectable to eat. The service was excellent. Good menu with lots of food options. Highly recommend.

Convenient and Casual

The Point Loma Cafe adjacent to the Holiday Inn on N Harbor Drive was a short walk from the hotel (not Holiday Inn) where I was staying. The evening I had dinner here I was happily surprised by the friendly, attentive service and the DELICIOUS mahi-mahi with tomato-caper sauce. The next day I returned for lunch with a friend. The service was less attentive, the salads okay. In all cases the food was reasonably priced. (The Bayside Bar, which I didn't visit, has a separate entrance behind the cafe. )

Average breakfast

The service was adequate, the coffee below par, the menu was limited, the food was bland. Seemed like your average hotel chain restaurant. The setting was nice, however.
