Beautiful Bar

By OrlandoJAM |

Bar staff was great and the atmosphere charming and lively, with a working fireplace, comfortable furniture to lounge in, gorgeous pool table, and lots of spots to hang out and chat. Now that I think about it, the acoustics are great here as no matter how many people were chatting, I always felt I could hear my husband, without hearing what anyone else was saying.

Excellent Bar

By Andriyko |

This bar is located inside The Arctic Club - DoubleTree hotel. We were staying at the hotel, and had drinks at the bar two nights and ate dinner there once. The bar is excellent, and there is a lot of charge about it. Not sure it they changed much from the day of the property being a men's club, but the bar did have a lot of historical feel to it. The bartenders are fantastic - very attentive and mix great drinks. This is definitely a place to pop into for a drink.

Great for a drink

By David B |

The Polar Bar is the lounge for the Arctic Club. It is outfitted to be reminiscent of the Klondike gold rush era. Lovely and friendly.

Nice atmosphere, good drinks and service

By ArmenInSeattle |

Despite its name, we felt warm and cared for in this bar. The drinks were good and the service was friendly. This is a classy place to come for a drink even if you're not staying at the Arctic Club.

Friendness of Hotel Bar punches above its weight

By michaelpaulmccabe |

I'm used to checking through boxes and nodding along as if I know what to expect from life, so I was both surprised and delighted to find a place that helped me relax. Mike and Nora were both excellent bartenders to me and I was able to really slow down and recognize and enjoy the hospitality afforded by people who seem to care. Kudos to both of them. The chef even provided a special meal for my wife to hit that craving for a warm meal during the cold. It's nice to enjoy that level of service and consideration .Thank you.

beautiful bar

Because the hotel used to be a private menus club, it still has the original bar with wood paneling and pool table, it also offers $5 drinks M-f, until 6 with 50% off appetizers.

Bar inside Arctic Club Hotel

By FlyHigh1010 |

Nice bar inside the Arctic club hotel 1920’s/old school decor. Good cocktail list, 2 beers on tap. Limited food menu. 20% service added to the check. Located few blocks from Lumen field& T-Mobile park.

Don't Miss the Polar Bar

By EduardTravels |

Stayed at the hotel, fell in love with the bar. Great old school atmosphere. Excellent staff. They make a mean Sazerac. Excellent food - both meals and appetizers. Even if I wasn't staying at the hotel, I'd still stop by for the bar.

Share a beer with a Polar Bear

By Kathryn E |

The Polar Bar is inside the Artic Hotel. The bar is large area with many seating groups. The room is dominated by the carved bar, and next to it is the illuminated life-size polar bear! Quite the conversation starter!

What a cool bar!

By Carney Idaho |

Old school, complete with the old guy club atmosphere. Beautiful bar, very friendly bartenders, nice drinks, reasonably priced. This is a landmark bar inside a beautiful old building with walruses on the exterior of the building. Very nice and down tempo.

Excellent Quiet Bar

By D V |

Comfortable quiet place to have a drink if you are staying at Arctic Club or are in the area. Highly recommend. Great Absinthe.

Great bar and staff and I recommend a visit.

By KweqSmanit |

This is a great bar and staff here and I recommend a visit. It is a cool place to hang out and meet friends for either an after work get together or just after dinner. The bartender was both fast and knowledgeable and as well friendly on a busy Friday night. The interior is comfortable with calming and nice lighting and they have a full bar here with reasonable pricing considering you are in the heart of downtown.

Typical Lobby bar

Good for a quick gathering with friends before heading out. Pool table in the area. May close by 11pm if busines is slow, plan ahead in case you need a night cap

Excellent craft cocktails

By angie12345 |

Great selection of quality liquors. Bartender was helpful with dinner ideas. Drinks were average priced for a higher end bar.

Cocktails

By bredhairedgirl |

Excellent bartender. Best martini. Sat in comfortable chairs while waiting for friends to head for dinner. Waiter came and got us a second. Very relaxing as a lounge should

Almost flawless

By JMCurley |

If you want to step back in time, the Polar Bar is worth a visit. Enjoy a couple of drinks and soak in the feeling of being a somewhat pampered member of an exclusive private club at the beginning of the 20th century. Bring your patience with you - during busy times - the staff seemed a little overwhelmed.

Cocktails and a Polar Bear!

By backpacker31 |

We’re big fans of polar bears so we made it a point to visit the Arctic Hotel’s Polar Bar. We were immediately impressed by the decor - dark woods, heavy furnishings and an overall atmosphere of days-gone-by. We enjoyed cocktails (from the extensive and creative menu) as well as a charcuterie board (very generous and diverse portions) and a Mediterranean platter. Everything was delicious. Service was attentive and friendly. And we loved the HUGE polar bear statue standing beside the bar.

Wonderful decor and service to match!

By FGU |

Great service, wonderful drinks and food. We ordered the ceviche and the cioppino. They were good. But the service was better, than wait and bar is staffed in a way that we had time for brief conversations with the servers and they were delightful. Get the 1oz top hat sampler!

It was terrible the food and the service i am never coming here again

By BrockJones897 |

The atmosphere was terrible it smelt like piss and beer the service was terrible it was so bad I almost left and then after waiting 40-50 minutes my food came and it was a disgrace to wait that long and that such a bad dish I really recommend not going here

Stay for Happy Hour

By TravelingBoomers1946 |

One evening rather than go out for dinner we sat in very comfortable leather chairs and enjoyed $5 merlot and 1/2 price appetizers. Their pork sliders (3) were very good, the calamari was ok but tangy sauce was very good. They do get busy but their staff hustled to provide good service . Happy hour is 4-6pm- so enjoy.

Great Place for Grown Ups

By HoustonTraveler |

Great bar with a super vibe for folks looking for a traditional old school place. Good happy hour, bar menu has plenty of choices, and bartenders are a great source of info and amusement. There's a pool table and places to sit and have privacy if you want it. Not a vibe that 20 year old's will want but for those of a more mature age, it is a perfect place to get a drink and a bite.

Great Place for a Night Cap

By TravelBug428 |

Has a relaxed, lounge feel to it. Our bartender was great! You definitely get what you pay for. Drinks were strong and delicious!

Great service and creative drinks.

By RobinDS |

Do yourself a favor and get the Smoke and Mirrors, or the I am the Walrus. They’re funky and cool. The place has a great vibe.

Cool looking but that's all

By Undrwtr |

We sat and waited...and waited .... and waited with other guests we did not know, but who were equally patient, for a server to appear. Finally, once the bartender appeared, hubby (and other patrons) had to approach the bar to order. I had the cocktail special (berry, gin, soda) and it tasted great, but my water tasted terrible. We decided that either the ice was old/bad/sour/yucky or the soda line was dirty or the city water tasted bad. Regardless, it made me suspicious of both of my beverages, because both had ice in them. So, we left our drinks unconsumed, paid up in full and headed out for the evening. The bar certainly looks cool, but that is about it.

Like stepping back in time into a 1917 explorers club

By Claude P |

Because that is what this hotel was! It was a club for Arctic explorers around the turn of the century who profited during the Klondike Gold Rush. It's all here. Turn of the century decor and furnishings, globes, maps and pictures of the former members. A map table complete with binders of early 1900s newspapers. Great fireplace. Well stocked bar. We really settled in here. Ok, the Polar Bear is a little cheesy but somehow it seems to work anyway. Just a terrific bar with a world class historic atmosphere.

An elegant, lounge and bar.

By LoveNewAdventures |

Double check to make sure their drink and appetizer service coincide with your visit. A good place for small groups of co-workers and friends.

Nice

By Smoothmimi |

The staff was nice and friendly. Not loud. Just a quiet, dim lit, relaxing place to have a drink, snack or meal. Good drinks during HH. A few choices of HH food.

Go there for friends or business, but go there.

By Marintraveller |

This historic building features this fine bar and lounge on the lobby level. Just entering the room will transport you back in time to an age of refinement. The bar is well-stocked and moderately priced. The bartenders were prompt, knowledgable and willing either to spend some time talking or leave you alone as you chose. Local friends recommended it to us for weekday happy hour.

very nice social bar

By ezflyer1 |

very nice atmosphere and great social areas where can visit with friends. Not too noise like most bars. Drinks were good. Go here for the great atmosphere and setting. Will come back

Step Back in Time at the Polar Bar

By JulioGM |

The fireplace, wood-paneled walls, pool table and art deco furniture take you back to the time when the Arctic Club Hotel was a club for gentlemen who had struck it right in the 1890s Klondike Gold Rush.

Beautiful with great cocktails

By Andrea_W_MV |

The ambience at the Polar Bar is wonderful. We got drinks on a Saturday night while staying at the hotel. It was nice and quiet since the hotel is in the Financial District, so not as busy on the weekends. The bartender made some delicious cocktails. It was great to see some interesting ingredients included - my cocktail with falernum was delicious.

Big white polar bear in the corner and lots of wood, romantic

By mary d |

Tuna Poke and Calamari and wine was a great dinner for 2 tired people who had done way too much walking and sight seeing during the day. Lots of couches to sit on, or stay at the bar. Computers near the fireplace are free to use.

Great spot for a cocktail

By A mom and her blondes |

we enjoyed an afternoon cocktail at the bar after walking around the city. Great place to sit back and enjoy the Arctic Polar Bear.

Drinks after work

By Kenneth B |

This is a busy hotel bar. The bartender was very distracted and it took fifteen minutes to get a drink. The beer on tap was pretty common, and the decor was not very interesting. Bring in some cool Arctic themed art!

Relax in an old style of comfort.

By Mike S |

The bar staff is fantastic and the atmosphere is great of the early 20th century. Very nice pool table.

Old world classic bar

By Ross S |

If you want craft beers this is not the place but if you want to sit around in formal setting drinking a martini or scotch this should be for you.

Warm? Chilly? The Perfect Solution for either!

By Momma Harris |

Looking for a warm place on a rainy, cold Seattle evening? Or a cool place to get-a-way from the bustle of traffic and heat? Then, tuck yourself into the Polar Bar!! Impress your friends by adding this little goodie to your cache of 'go to' places that will charm both out of town guests and locals alike!! WINTER: Warm yourself by the fire, with a good book or friend and a Hot Toddy (bourbon or whiskey or your fav top shelf - I prefer Jack!) SUMMER: Refresh your parched lips with a cool and perfectly blended Long Island Iced Tea as you catch your breath and brush up on your 'new language studies' or check in on social media. Meet for lunch or appetizers or whatever suits your fancy in between.

Halley deserves a raise and some help!

By Michael G |

We are staying at the Arctic Club Hotel for two nights and went to the lobby bar for a happy hour drink before dining. At 3 pm there were a few customers and Halley was fine coming out to serve us as well as take care of the long bar. By 4pm there were more than 34 people in the lounge and nobody came to help her. Managers were coming out of the back office on their way to? But did nothing to help the situation as champagne corks popped for a last minute reservation by a small firm celebrating something adding 12 more customers. People waited at the bar but many walked away so sales were lost. Halley did a fantastic job and finally someone showed up at 4:30pm but it's no way to run a fine hotel!

Nice quaint setting

By foolrush |

Typical selection for a hotel bar in the lobby including a limited number of what i considered comfort finger foods. Best to take advantage of their happy hour which if i recall, ended at 6/7. The nice thing about this bar is its history and soft setting.

Nice atmosphere and staff.

By Faith P |

Great happy hour prices. Free billiard table. Classy. Nostalgic. Excellent compliment to the Doubletree Hotel.

Polar Bar

By fungus49 |

A classy, dimly lit bar or "lounge" with wonderful leather chairs and sofa seating throughout. Pool Table as well and yes, a polar bear. Also serves better quality appetizers.

Really cool place for a drink!

By Wanderer0213 |

The Polar Bar is inside the Arctic Club Hotel. The bar itself is absolutely amazing, really old school quaint. The servers when we were there had a old fashion bar keeps suit, even with a towel over the shoulder. They will make you hand crafted cocktails to your liking. Very professional, clean, really a cool place. A must stop, the hotel is great also!

History is alive in Seattle!!

By chrisDTW |

Just discovered this gem of a historic restaurant and bar that was closed for many years and has been renovated and open to business showcasing the glory days of Seattle’s historic boom in the 1900’s. You’ll definitely feel transported to an earlier era. Enjoy great cocktails and wines in a wood paneled bar, with a great fireplace !

A trip back to the 1920s

By EconProf |

We were looking for a location for cocktails in Seattle, and stumbled on the Polar Bar at the Arctic Club (the Doubletree Hotel). It's a little confusing to find -- you have to walk into the hotel and the bar is on the right in the lobby. The building used to be a Gentlemen's Club (the Arctic Club) back in the 1920s. The bar retains this feel, with dark wood, an original tin ceiling, and a list of cocktails that reminds you of that time. The bartender, Viktor, is simply terrific. We tried five cocktails (two different nights) and each was perfect: a Sazerac, a Corpse Reviver, a Vieux Carre, a Derby, a Manhattan. I list the drinks to give you a sense of what they list on their menu. You can also get absinthe served correctly. We also tried the calamari, which was crispy and tender.

Best ambiance bar in Seattle.

By Laura_Kayaks |

If you love The Shining like I do, you will find this place on your top 5 list and will desire to become a regular. The Polar Bar sits inside the Arctic Club (hotel by Doubletree). However, you'd never guess it's a hotel and it wasn't always. The lobby walls hold pictures of the prestigious gentlemen that used to walk their halls. This beautifully architected building used to be a gentleman's club. And you can tell by the bar. As I rounded the corner I expected to see men sipping cognac and enjoying cigars. The seating is intimate and well spaced. I had the regular mule and it was the best I've ever had. Definitely returning!

Cheesy Chic Cool Old School Vibe

By metntex |

Something almost comical about this place...the fake stuffed polar bear tops it all...vintage era furniture with a big fire place and a bartender dressed in classic era attire. Service was great, bars snacks good and happy hour priced right. Was a tad disappointed in the beer selection but overall we enjoyed it. Would we go back? Sure.

Gorgeous Bar Takes You Back to the Klondike Rush!

By reilingd |

One of the better Bloody Marys I have had - in fact, I had a second one :) And we all had to take a photo with the Polar Bear!

Excellent Service

By SoJerzeeGirl |

A great place for a nightcap. Enjoyed watching people play pool and just relax while conversing. Bartenders were extremely friendly and attentive.

great happy hour

By drtravels |

Lots of choices with reasonable prices. Staff is very helpful. Doesn't open until noon but happy hour is the time to go.
