My sister-in-law married into a large, Polish-Catholic family and they told us we must try Polonia. I'm glad we took their advice! We started with the potato pancakes - they were good, but not the best I've ever had. Then, we got the combination plate, a side of perogies and an order of schnitzel and shared. There were five of us and we still took home leftovers. The meat perogies and cabbage roll were my favorites. Everything else ranged from good to great. The meatloaf was the only thing I didn't like - too dry. The service was good, and there was an artist painting a fresco on the wall - very fun to watch! There is a little Polish store attached to the restaurant that was fun to visit as well. Reservations are required for parties of 6 or more.

All staff in restaurant and store seemed proudly Polish and committed to their crafts. Immaculately clean and organized with linen covered tables, professional service, fine food and nice European style bar with a selection including a range of potato vodkas and pilsners from the old country. Relaxed but with understated elegance. The perfect escape from the chains of the "industrial food complex". Proud to be what it is, a preserve for authentic, heavy Eastern European "soul food", in a setting of perfect incongruity, enjoy some real food and a little benign culture shock without the long flight or need for a passport. Don't tell your cardiologist or other party spoilers.

Located in Spring Branch, at the intersection of Blalock and Campbell Road, is a little corner of Poland. The menu promises a "Taste of the Old Country" and delivers original Polish dishes. We have dined at Polonia serveral times and usually get the Combination Plate which includes: a delicious sauerkraut soup, a very mild taste with little chunks of melt-in-your-mouth pork; pierogi, those little Polish raviolis, filled with potato & cheese or meat; cabbage rolls in a tomato sauce; kielbasa sausage; bigos, which is sauerkraut, potato and braised pork; meat loaf stuffed with ground meat; baked pork loin stuffed with peppers; tender braised chicken legs and a salad. The menu says plate but this meal is served on a large platter that is kept warm with a small bunson burner. This Combination Plate is more than enough for two people and we always get a "to-go" container and have another Polish dinner at home the next night. They have several beers...a Czech beer on tap and a bottled Polish beer. If you are looking for an authentic European dining experience...please give Polonia a try. Highly recommended.

We went to this restaurant to have lunch, then buy food at their market. When we walked in, there were so many uncleaned tables, that one of the only small tables, was in a corner niche. The young girl working there was very nice & gave us water. We then waited 28 minutes before a young guy took our order. We both ordered soup & an entree. After another 30 minutes, I got up to ask about our order. She brought my husband warm soup & my entree. I told her that I had ordered soup too. She quickly brought it to me, but it was so hot that I had to let it cool down about 15 minutes. I then got up & asked if there was any bread or crackers to go with it. She told they were out if bread, but she would see what she could find. She came back with four hard cold rolls. My husband had finished his soup & after about 20 minutes he got up to inquire about his entree. The young man said he would look into it. He came back about five minutes later with his mildly warm entree & said, “Thank you for reminding me?” The servers were very polite, but the service is one of the worst that I have ever had. It wasn’t very crowded at 1pm, but I couldn’t believe how many empty & dirty tables there were! We have been to this restaurant about 8 years ago & the service & food was much better. I will never go back there! On top of this, we ordered 16 cabbage rolls to go & they didn’t have any sauce this time! I asked for the tomato sauce & was told the restaurant had it. I was then handed a half pint of sauce, which clearly, not enough for 16 cabbage rolls! Also, I just called to ask how to heat up the cabbage rolls & the man chuckled & said he didn’t know? He said, “Maybe, 400 degrees for ten minutes?” Needless to say, we were truly disappointed & will not go back to eat there!

Saturday November 16th we took a good friend to Polonia for his birthday. When we walked in the place was packed with people which is always a good sign and we were seated pretty quickly. We ordered our drinks and food and when our friend asked if he could get some bread the waiter replied they were out of bread, we more than understood it was a busy night. We waited and chatted and other people came in and sat down two ladies next to us got who came in after us got their food and low and behold a basket of bread....hmmmm. Our food came and it was amazing food but the waiter had t be called over to get refills and when he came with the tea it was warm and no ice was given. as a group we felt like we had crashed a party and that is never a good feeling at a restaurant. Do not think we will be going back anytime soon.

Polonia is still one of the most authentic restaurants in Houston. Excellent service. Huge portions. Great family restaurant. Feels like you are somewhere in Eastern Europe. We will keep coming back

Our family loves Polonia. Their Golabki (stuffed cabbage leaves) is the best. If you want to try a sample of their favorites, get their combination plate for two. You will have enough for at least three people, plus leftovers. Don't let the exterior fool you. The interior is warm and inviting, the service is good, and the food excellent. The only thing I wouldn't recommend are the fruit pierogi, imagine pasta and pie filling. Otherwise, everything is delicious.

I was treated to my birthday dinner there Saturday night & the restaurant was not crowded whatsoever. The decor & atmosohere was very nice. It had a warm homey feel. We started with potato & cheese pierogies & potato pancakes-- they were both excellent--I give the appetizers a 5. The entree course was okay. I had stuffed pork cutlet (very tasty) the red cabbage was very good- the cole slaw adequate & the mashed potatoes just ok. The other 2 entrees my companions ordered- the weiner snitzel was very bland & practically tasteless. The last entree was chicken with pineapple. While I had never seen that on a menu before it really didnt look appetizing & tasted bland & strange also. I give them a 3. Hence my overall score of 4 only because of the delicious appetizers. I would go back but order different entrees next time.

Wow, the sampler plate was fantastic! Coworker had the beet soup and said it was fantastic also. This was a jewel of a find and is now on my repeat list for Houston! Found all of the family traditional dishes and some we never had. Will have to eat my way through the menu.

At first, it looks like a very simple place. The waitress is friendly and the Potato Pancakes were excellent.

Excellent Polish / Eastern European restaurant with a completely authentic and scrumptious menu. The pierogi (also know as varenyky or pyrohy if you're Ukrainian) were outstanding. Very casual and family friendly atmosphere. We'll be back as lot's of great dishes to try.

It was nearly empty on a Tuesday night, and I was wondering why. The food was good and the price quite reasonable. I had some great sausages including the blood sausage, fairly good perogies, great pork cheeks in aspic and a fabulous Hunter's Stew. The service was attentive and the only blips on the radar were the lack of wines advertised on the wine list. I am told it gets really busy on the weekend and you might need reservations then.

Thus place does not have the most eye catching curb appeal, but inside it is very nice and much bigger than it appears from outside. The waitress was friendly and efficient. We found our meal tasty, and we didn't have to wait long, even tho it got very busy. The platter for two was heaped with a variety. The restaurant is attached to a Polish market.

We have ordered take out several times from this restaurant and have never been disappointed. Wonderful food, excellent take out service and a gem of a restaurant. As a long time Houstonian, I love that you can find. A wonderful place like this hidden in a close-in shopping center. Love it.

The restaurant successfully captures the atmosphere of an old Polish restaurant with authentic cuisine and decor. The service was polite and helpful in navigating the menu. The food came relatively quick, was hot and tasty. The bread and beer is excellent! The prices are a little steep, but not too painful on occasion. Good place to practice your Polish!

Although the outside doesn't look like much, diners will be more than happy with their experience at Polonia. The friendly staff can accommodate large groups and single diners, and the room itself is warm and welcoming. My friend and I had the stuffed pork cutlet and potato pancake "Goral" style (which comes with a beef goulash), and both dishes were delicious and plentiful. For dessert, we opted for the mixed fruit (plum, blackberry, strawberry, etc.) pierogi, which come nine to the plate with whipped cream. Start to finish, everything was wonderful, and now I want to bring a larger group of friends to give it a try.

We always enjoy a meal at Polonia. The food is traditional Polish fare. The price is a bit expensive but worth it for an additional meal. There is also an authentic Polish delicatessen and meat market next door. They have a lot imported Polish food and lots of Polish sausages.

We have been meaning to go there for years and just decided to drop in. We had the combination plate with everything on it and had food leftover for the next day!

Well...I wish I could be writing songs of praise but not so. We as a family visited during last years' Christmas holidays. Did the same this year. It seems we all had very kind and glowing recollections from 2011 and were quite excited about the thought of dining there again. As a matter of fact, Very excited. I am sorry to say, the food on offer was lack lustre, under seasoned, dry and over-cooked. Presentation was amateur. Now, a lot of this could be chalked up to homesy, comfort food, family style. But I can cook and present better than this! Methinks they got a bad case of the lazies. I hope they have improved their lot by next Christmas, I wouldn't mind paying another visits to see if things have improved. With such a basic menu, this should be easy least. They still have that stiff Polish couple standing in the corner!!!

Vyborna restaurace a servis.Dal sem si rizek s bramborem a se zelim. Taky nudlovou polevku s Magim.A plzensky pivo v krasnym pullitru. DOporucuji a urcite se tam vratim Great place and service . I ate Veal Schnitzel/veal cutlet breaded and pan fried served with potatoes and sauerkraut. Also had chicken noodle soup with Magi ( a must have seasoning ) And real Czech beer in authentic 1/2 liter pint. Highly recommend and I will be back .

zurek tastes just like babci's homemade :-D if you love the food, then you have to go next door to the polish market

The best advice I could give for Polonia? Check out the extensive menu ahead of time and schedule some time to shop the unique little grocery store. This is exceptionally good Polish food, per Polish friends and our own happy taste buds. Recommend any of the pierogis, (sauerkraut/mushroom are especially delicious), zupa grzybowa (mushroom soup), and whipped potatoes. Outstanding.

The wait staff speaks polish fluently the food is very authentic Im polish i would know. Try the Borshe its great the potatoe soup is very good too. It feels like your in poland the wait staff wears polish style clothes also.

We always wanted to try Polish cuisine, so we finally had a chance. I knew we would not be able to eat most of the items on the menu because of my husband's pork allergies, but we were looking forward to pierogi. What a disappointment. The dough was sticky and felt under cooked, the filling was good, but the dough kind of messed it up. I am used to Ukrainian/Russian pierogi with softer and well cooked dough, so I will be wondering now whether we happened to get them under cooked that one time or that's the way they are. Gulasz was very very delicious - a cup of rice would go great with that. Ginormous desserts: apple pie was delicious, crepe - not that good, even Ihop makes them better. Overall our food choices were too fatty to our taste, but that's how Eastern European cuisine is in general, so no surprise there. On the good note the service was amazing and so was the atmosphere. Will definitely come back to taste the lamb and get some beer and apple pie and listen to nice music.

Awesome place. The food is awesome and not too pricey. The cabbage rolls rock. However, they used to have better bread spread at one point... this cheese chive concoction that was pretty rad. Still, all around great place to eat. Really nice on the inside too.

Don't be fooled by the unimpressive exterior because inside is a gem of a restaurant. The pierogis and potato pancakes were some of the best I have ever tasted. My husband tried to rye soup and loved it. The four of us tried pork, goulash, and rouladen and each one was delicious. We considered this to be a "find" and would recommend it to anyone in the Houston area.

This place was really good, the service was good and the food tasted even better. It's hard to find good Polish food, and this place hits the spot. The place is very welcoming on the inside, it makes you feel like your in another country.

Wonderful place to eat. Check out their deli/grocery store next door.

New place is very nice. Good food. I love the pickle soup! And the veal... wow. This is not diet food... prepare to be full.

I'm not a connoisseur of polish food, but meal was very tasty and the menu seemed to be very authentic (would you like cabbage with that?). There beer menu was a bit lacking I was expecting a good variety of polish beers, I think they had only 1 out of their only 4 or so possible options. For desert, had a cheese cake which was surprisingly light and fluffy, would definitely recommend saving room for it.

Platter for two will leave you full and still have a meal left over to take with you as portions are huge and delicious.

Polonia restaurant is in a stripmall in a quiet Northwest area of Houston. It shares the stripmall with Polonia grocery store where many items of Polish ethnic food can be found. The restaurant is modest from the outside and the inside, although it is clean and the tables have white tablecloths. The service is friendly and reasonably prompt. The night we visited, we were one of four tables, which is surprising for a Saturday evening. By the time we left, at 9:15 pm, we were the lasts customers and the place was deserted. The typical Polish food is well prepared. We selected the Pork Aspic, the Potato and Cheese Periogi and Golabki. The portions were generous and the flavors good although we would have liked them a bit more intense or condimented. The Veal Schnitzel was good as was the Hunters' stew (Bigos). My Pork Shank (Golonka) was huge, tender, but a bit on the dry side and the skin was limp. I like my shank skin to be crispy, as they prepare it in Bavaria, but I don't know if they do the same in Poland. In addition, the shank was rather plain in flavor and could have used some condiments too.The cheese Blintzes were excellent and well worth the visit. There were many other, typically Polish offerings and we are likely going back to taste them.

Polonia is a fabulous restaurant! The food is outstanding. Even my husband liked it, and he typically does not like Polish food. If you like sour rye soup, you must try Polonia's. It is great! The stuffed cabbage rolls were probably the best I've ever had. Don't forget to order dessert. Both the Polish doughnut and the Polish cheesecake were great, and the portions were huge. One slice of cheesecake will serve two. We can't wait to return.

We came here for dinner to satisfy our family craving for Polish food. We sampled several of their menu items. By far the best were the potato pancakes - pancakes with lightly fried diced potatoes that just melted in your mouth. We found the blood sausage to be just average and the fried schnitzel dishes to be far too dry. Otherwise it was an interesting meal to try. Service was completely overwhelmed and under staffed.

Went here with a group looking to try different types of food, since Houston has so many options to offer. I am not completely familiar with Polish food, but what I had (Bigos) was very good. The portions are huge so keep that in mind when ordering! There is a sampler platter that says "for two" and was ordered by a table of 4 and still not finished! They have Polish beer on tap and Polish vodka. If you're yearning for some of the ingredients, there is a Polish grocery store a block away affiliated with the restaurant too.

Polonia is a Polish resto. This place is in an odd location but don't let that deter you from making a trip. The dining room sets off a very comfortable vibe with a full bar at the end of the dining room, the obligatory big screen TV, large fireplace, high ceilings, and white tablecloth table settings. I suspect the majority of the people reading this think they know what Polish food is all about. Yes it's about polish sausage. Pierogi? Yes that too. Things that are similar to German and Austrian cuisine -Yes! But this resto has so much more to offer. The menu is chock full of different schnitzels and cutlets (which are served with a variety of krauts, slaws, potatoes and salads). Unique appetizers are highlighted by pickled herring with Rye bread and pork in aspic. Also there are 4-5 different Pierogis , cabbage rolls and of course the amazing soups! .The beetroot soup known as Barszcz is one of those soups you must try before you die. The flavors are all clean and pure and overall the attention to detail was spot on. Man, you gotta get some here!

It was Ash Wednesday so my family always had a tradition of eating polish food that day. Since I was in Houston, I thought I would look up a polish restaraunt in a spanish community. This was a delight to find one. We had the pickle soup, potato pancakes and periogis. All the food was close to as my Bushca would make. I enjoyed the food, but did notice the perigos were maybe factory made. Everyone one was perfect size and rolled edges. Since I have not had them in so long, they were still delicious and I ate them all. The potato pancakes were great, they did come with a zide of bacon grease and bits. I have never seen that before. There was only two other tables in the restaraunt, one 6 top and a 2 top besides us. The service is super slowand it takes a while to get your food or drink refills. This was the only drawback.

This is just a little neighborhood restaurant with their own Polish grocery store right down the block from the restaurant but it is well worth finding and visiting. Definitely try the BARSZCZ SOUP WITH DUMPLINGS. This soup was amazing. I've had Borscht many times but this was different. It is the color of a Cabernet Sauvignon and it is a clear soup not a thick soup. The flavor was lightly beet flavored with a background that was probably an excellent beef stock. You can't really see them but the soup is full of little beef dumplings! Laura had the Potato pancakes with sour cream and apple sauce. There were many there having the combination platter which has all the traditional Polish favorites but we followed the chief's advice and had the roasted veal with mashed potatoes, a cucumber salad in yogurt and dill, shredded beets and a red cabbage slaw. Again for dessert we had the chief's recommendation. They serve many different blintz's and some fruit pierogi but I think this was a "Molina blintz" with strawberries, black berries, chocolate and whipped cream with a great Italian coffee.

I had very high expectations about this restaurant based on the few reviews I read. Before you get to it you will pass their store on the right if driving north. A block later I saw the restaurant which was located at the far end of an ell-shaped desolate strip mall. When I pulled up it looked to be out of business because the outside windows were dark. I decided to try the door anyway and actually found it to be open. There is a very small bar and about eight tables that seat four per table. The menu was very inviting since it had a lot of great selections. I started with potato pancakes, barszcz soup with dumplings and then shared a combination plate with business colleague. Barszcz Soup with Dumplings - This is the Polish traditional renowned beet root soup served with a crepe filled with meat. It had a clear red broth with dill and a lot of small tender meat filled dumplings ... overall very good. Potato Pancakes - The three potato pancakes ($6) were served with sour cream and apple sauce. Good size and better than average. Combination Plate for two. Pierogi, cabbage rolls, kielbasa, bigos (Hunter’s Stew), meat loaf, baked pork, duck leg (Chicken) and salad. The combo platter was presented very well on the large serving dish. There were six pierogies, two large stuffed cabbages, two chicken legs, large meatball, hunter stew, slab of pork and eight inch piece of kielbasa. The pierogies were cheese/potato, sauerkraut/mushroom and meat. Average at best. The cheese/potato was the best of the worst. Stuffed cabbage had too little filling and more rice than meat. Taste was below average even though the cabbage was tender. The kielbasa was juicy and very good. The meatball was too salty and the pork in dark gravy tough and fatty. The chicken was dry and was not duck as advertised. Overall I have to say it was a disappointment. I was still hungry and with food still left but I didn't want to eat anymore which says a lot about the quality. The worst part of the experience was when I brought to the attention of our waitress a piece of plastic that I found in my pierogi, possibly a fake finger nail that she took and didn’t even apologize! Overall experience was not good, an injustice to Poland (Nie dobry, niesprawiedliwość Polonii).

Scrumptious food, Polish atmosphere, homey. A little crowded but not looking for privacy. Just great food!

Excellent menu, excellent food, almost like in Poland - a bit Americanized. The dessert should be the dumpling with plums and not with strawberries

Next to Polish market where thayapprentl get some of the ingrediants for themal. Frozen peiorgi not as good as makng thereal thng, Potatoe pancakes very god as a apetizer, as part of a man ,one large pancake with beef tips and gravy. coplimentary soup with lunch was good . Saqusage wa tasty suurkraut prepared well . Would like to return andt ry rest of the menu.

When Im in Houston this is where i eat. I love the sour rye soup. The combination plate for two is what my husband and i get and we are never let down. The bigos and cabbage rolls are the best I've ever had.

Came here for a family dinner. I don't typically like sauerkraut or that range of cuisine, so I settled for the potato pancakes without expecting much. I loved them. Very tasty and delicious. I think there is something for everyone here, even the picky eaters.

I agreed with the other reviewer, what is the big deal about this Vietnamis/French restaurant? I rate the food a 3-4, it's a nice place to take a lady to, if she does not know anything about Vietnamis food.

After living half a year in Poland back in 2008, I was missing so much authentic Polish food. And I found it in Houston! These pierogi ruskie (with cheese) remind me my old days in Warsaw. 100% Polish!!! I also tried the Polish Sausage (spectacular, and just for 7.90 bucks) and of course one shot of Zubrowka, my top Polish Wodka (it is difficult to find this one in bars). I did not like that much the dessert: fruit inside Pierogi (I don't like combination of Pasta and Fruit at all). And with the meal with ordered Tyskie (the authentic). A bit expensive this beer, but it worth to remind this flavor. The waitress was extremely helpful, and the Polish decoration was real! I want to go again soon for those Pieroi Ruskie!!!

There's something that all the people of Houston should know, and that is: this is the only full-blown, sit-down Polish restaurant in this city, and only Polish people work here (cooks, waiters, bartenders, owner, etc). I know this because one of my family members has worked here for the better part of a decade. If you like Eastern European food (pork chops, potatoes in multiple ways, cabbage rolls, sauerkraut & sausage, etc), you'll be solidly satisfied with your meal here. For those who need a little more convincing away from the typical Tex-Mex and other yummy cuisine that our lovely city has to offer, you gotta come here knowing that the type of food is much more bland than what is commonly eaten outside of it. However, if you get past that, it is absolutely delicious and home made in every single way, other than being made literally in a house! You can't get more authentic than this!

I don’t know what happened in June, but the service was fine. The food was luscious, and we’ll definitely come back. And no, I don’t know the owners! The borscht was wonderful. I had the pork meat loaf and my husband had roasted veal. We took home leftovers. The helpings were huge.

I've been meaning to visit this place for years... I decided to try it with my daughter today. I'm so glad I did. I think I found my new favorite restaurant. So good! Not sure what to get my daughter and I got the combo plate for two because that was a good variety of things to try. So much food we had to take some home. So pleased with this place.

Fantastic restaurant! Delicious food. My very picky 12 year old ate and ate and ate! We tried a little of everything and all of it was wonderful. Very good service, very quaint and quiet little restaurant. However, families are welcome!

I love love love loveeee Polonia. My family use to come here back in the day and I am excited to be moving back to Houston soon, will definitely make this place a monthly visit. This place is run by Polish people so it is extremely authentic. The prices are great for the amount of food you get (free bread!) and they have great coffee and Polish beer. The people are always super nice. We went for my mom's birthday and when they found out they gave her a free cheesecake with candles. How sweet! Don't be scared off by the location. It may look small and run down, but DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER. One of the best restaurants around town. I recommend the Bigos. If you cannot choose and are with a group of people, go for the family platter because it has a little of everything. That easily feeds three people. They also have a Polish grocery store right behind the restaurant. They have a lot of neat import.

We had dinner last night here and the food was excellent. We are originally from Chicago and are used to good polish food. We loved this place!

We wanted to like this place because of the positive reviews we read. Please don’t be misled like we were by the positive reviews that were no doubt written by friends and family of this establishment. The food was horrible, and, if possible, the service was even worse. What’s worse, we had to wait more than an hour and 15 minutes from the time that we ordered until the time we were finally served our food.

I haven't been to a Polish restaurant in a long time so I maybe a little critical here. I ordered the potatoe pancakes and found them hard. I was expecting to be lighter but maybe that is the way they should be. The sausage was very good. The cabbage rolls could have been a little meater. A lunch menu with smaller portions would be nice. Overall we enjoyed our meal and would go back but make different selections.

I was looking for authentic Polish food in Houston and found the Polonia. The owner of Polonia owned a restaraunt in Poland. The food was catered at our office, so I can't comment on the service in the restaraunt (although I do intend to go there with family and friends). The delivery was made on time, and the food was still warm. My test of good Polish cooking is the pierogi dough - and the Polonia's pierogis were very good - we had saurerkraut, meat, potato and cheese, and my favorite, blueberry filling. The Kielbasa was excellent. (Note - the store next door sells several varieties of kielbasa along with lots of other Polish foods.) We had bigos ("hunters' stew") which I have not had before; it was very good. Most of the people at the lunch had never had Polish food before; they also enjoyed it and plan to visit the restaraunt. It's not in the downtown area, so depending on where you are staying you may have to drive a bit. the outside does not look like much, but you're there for the food. Parking is right in front. If you are looking for authentic Polish food or just want to try something different, I recommend the Polonia. It's a great value and the prices are good, also.

This restaurant is known for authentic Polish food. My husband loves pierogis and sausage so we went to seek them out. The couple who owns it has brought a little bit of their homeland with them to Houston. The sampler platter is a lot for two people but you can take some home. Definitely give them a try and go next door and shop the European market too.

I'm not saying it just because I feel sentimental about polish foods. They have a great selection of typical polish pierogis, but also galabki ( stuffed cabbage), potato pancakes, goulash, barszcz ( red beet soup) and many more. We travel 3 hrs to go to this restaurant and my husband who is not polish likes it very much too. There is a polish grocery store attached so after a meal you can pick up new stock of sausages, pickles or sweets. Great to have place like that in Texas:)

Out side of the building is ..just plain outside.....inside is a cute, clean, tables with TABLE CLOTHS and LINEN NAPKINS, Starched , very nice heavy cutlery, forks and knives are properly set, smiling staff and very old country service......I loved it...Friendly yet, sophisticated atmosphere...Food was excellent ...Veal was out of this world, I had Pierogi ..well, my luck I guess it was not up to par (Thick dow, needed to cook more) Drinks were very nice...Polish beer was great...Actually it was fine dining with very good value.....Prices were totally acceptable.....

Polonia's is a family owned and operated quaint Polish restaurant in the Spring Branch area of Houston, TX. We got dinner to go - next time we will eat in. Everything was delicious, but the pierogis, sausage and stuffed cabbage rolls were especially tasty.

Their menu had a great assortment of polish cusine. The sampler platter will feed at least 4. They also have Polish Beer.

Service was very good but food was like good festival food not necessarily good polish restaurant food. Had the Rouladen and good but slightly dried out and heavy on the black pepper. Friend had Goral style potato pancakes and they were very salty. Girlfriend had Perogis and they tasted like they were straight from the freezer. All was very edible and the prices were reasonable. Also like having a solid Polish option in town but I'm not in line with the rave reviews. Service prevented me from going 3 stars

The food is really good at this restaurant. Nice staff, clean operation. The pierogi are very good with the meat variety being particularly nice. Pyzy was awesome too. Nice soup too! It is closed in Mondays. They have a nice grocery store attached for those that enjoy Polish items.

This is a quiet little restaurant, but the food is excellent, the decor is good, and the service is great. I have been in 84 countries, but sadly Poland is not one of them, and I therefore cannot personally comment on how authentic the cuisine is, but the manager is Polish, there is a Polish food store next door, and a Polish church across the street. There is also a 60 inch LED TV quietly playing Polish broadcasts, and I feel confident the menu is authentic. The place is fastidiously clean, tables are set with real cloth tablecloths, and there is a fresh rose on each table. Ask your waiter for suggestions and you won't be disappointed, but I liked the pork meatloaf. They also offer a sampler platter that will easily satisfy two large appetites and provide a good idea of Polish food.

It's as good as you can get in Texas and has a polish food store next to the restaurant (it's the only Polish store in Texas). Decent food in the restaurant as far as Polish food goes, good selection of Polish foods in their grocery store. Not cheap but they can upcharge due to it being the only place to purchase real Polish foods.

Perfect place to take those who have never had Polish food before. The bread on the table comes with an herbed butter or a lard which has bacon bits in it--I know that sounds vile but believe me, you can't judge it before you've tried it. The food is homemade and wonderful. The combination platter says it feeds 2 but 4 of us cannot wipe it clean. The potato pancake Goral style is wonderful--a totally different kind of potato pancake (not a latke) stuffed with a rich stew. Yummy!! You can get Polish beer and there is a full bar if you prefer. It is not a large place so on weekends I would recommend a reservation as there is really no room to wait for a table.

The sampler was great! The pierogi’s were excellent, especially the potato & cheese & the sauerkraut & mushroom. My favorite dish was the Bigos (hunters stew). It was incredible!

We had eaten the pierogies from Polonia at a festival so we were anxious to try other food. The pierogies were again delicious but the same cannot be said for our other fare. The potato pancakes tasted like they were previous cooked and then warmed up in a microwave. The rouladen that should be made with thin pieces of round steak was made with a tough cubed steak that was rolled up. It was hard to cut and was still cold in the middle. Obviously this is previously made and refrigerated and then heated up to serve. It was accompanied by thick red cabbage with absolutely no seasoning and no taste. Red cabbage is usually very thin with a sweet and sour taste. Since it is a good drive for us we will not be returning to this restaurant and could not recommend it to others.

One of my favorite little restaurants in Houston. Polonia has a cute atmosphere, like dining in Eastern Europe. The service is very fast, comes in handy if you are really hungry and are short on time. I had the small order of potato pancakes (3), a cup of barszcz(borsht) soup, and veal schnitzel. Of course I started off with the fresh bread and garlic butter and believe it or not, I passed on the bean soup, which are served with every meal. My work colleague had the cabbage rolls, which was my second choice. Lucky for me she shared a 1/4 roll with me. Ok overall a great place for lunch or dinner. Stay hungry amigos. El Gordo!

If you do not know what Eastern European food is, do not go here. You won't get a Polish Sausage on a bun. This place is real Polish food. A great variety on the menu. We first tried them at the Houston Rodeo, and have tried to go for some time now. Was worth the trip. Service is a little casual, but fun. Not a stuffy place like some high end places. Also stop next door and shop at the store.

What a great restaurant for hot flavorful food. Lots to choose from on the menu and good pricing, a fantastic home cooked meal.

If they dimmed the lights a bit it would help. But the place is so bright it's uncomfortable. Food is good tho and well presented. And there's a lot of it too. I probably won't return but it was a good experience.

We returned here after years away and were reassured that the food was quite good. Three of us ordered the platter for two, and it was plenty with a side of beetroot soup. The service was indifferent, our water not refilled. While we probably won't rush to return, but it was good for a visit.

While the exterior looks downscale, inside is very nice. I don't think I've ever eaten Polish food before, so I can't compare it to similar food. However, in general, the food here is quite good! I had the Veal Schnitzel. It came with salad, mashed potatoes, and sauerkraut -- which was so much better than I was expecting. (It wasn't like pickled cabbage, it was closer to sautéed onions. DELICIOUS!) There were many other things on the menu that I want to try.

We found this restaurant when parking at the polish festival in Houston. It was run very professionally and took the extra steps to ensure that the prices were justifiable. Tablecloths, breadbaskets, beautifully printed menus were a nice touch! The waiter was very knowledgeable with suggestions on the menu for my vegan diet. The pierogis were amazing! I will definitely be back to try more!

Fantastic spot for some great Polish food in a family but white table cloth environment where the owner and staff treat you like family in an un-rushed environment where you can actually carry on a conversation. The portions are very ample and the quality almost excellent. I and a friend had the Potato Pancakes "Goral Style" which was a large perfectly cooked potato pancake filled with a delicious beef goulash and served with a nice bit of salad and sour cream. Both our dishes were outstanding, tender beef and a wonderful sauce. Another companion had the Beef Roulden served with dumplings and red cabbage. Again an ample portion and excellent flavor but the beef was just a tad bit dry. For desert we shared a plate of Plum Pierogi's, nice flavor but a bit under cooked. I still rate this as excellent when all is considered that this was one of the most enjoyable lunches I have had in a long time. Even though this was my first time there the owner as staff were wonderful, nothing was rushed, everything was fresh and the location is comfortable and welcoming. Attached to the restaurant is a Polish Store owned by the same family with wonderful sausages, imported products, a sensory delight. If you go for a meal stop in the store, if you go to the store, stay for lunch, you won't regret it.

Homemade food away from home. Polish cuisine 6000 miles away from Poland. Pierogis, golabki, polska kielbasa, kiszka, famous pork chop and veal roast with gravy and combination plate you just have to try it. Tomato soup on Tuesdays, Chicken soup (rosol) every day, flaki, Kapusniak and pickle soup. Just try it.

Our family of five share four entrees family style which was more than adequate. The entrees were tasty, fairly priced, and graciously served.

This restaurant started in a strip center in our neighborhood. The food, beer and staff have always been fantastic. Now, they have moved into a much bigger place that is elegantly decorated with a fantastic bar. Same great people, same great food, much prettier place. This is a great place to submerge into a different environment without leaving beautiful Spring Branch. It is a reliable great experience.

We found the food very authentic tasting. The toughest decision was what to choose. I wasn’t too hungry so I ordered the pierogi they were delicious. It was definitely worth the drive time. I only wish the Polish store didn’t close at 3 pm on Sunday.

I've traveled around the world and around these fantastic United States and Polonia is one of my favorite restaurants ever. It reminds me of the better eateries throughout Europe. We ordered the potato pancakes, Borscht, golonka, and other goodies. Each and every one was superbly cooked, seasoned, and the sides were filling and tasty. I love the family friendly atmosphere and their ability to work with small kids food "needs" :)

Might be the only, but regardless the meal was excellent. We try to go every December for a great treat. Be ready to sweat pork fat, but SO WORTH IT!

My main course was Bigos, new to me and very flavorful. I liked it so much I tried to get some from the store next door to take home, but it was closed. The pierogis were good. The owner greeted us and gave us complimentary soup. Nice touch on our first visit.

I have not had much Polish food since my mother died, as she kept the cultural kitchen alive. I was very happily satisfied at Polonia Restaurant and plan to return. I also stopped at their Polish store for 3 different brands of kielbasa, hunter's stew, and sauerkraut. Yummy!

I'm not of Polish decent, nor have I ever been to Poland, but boy do I sure enjoy the food here! And by looking around it must be authentic since during the 10 or so times I've been, Polish is the majority language spoken. My family usually start with the draft Pilsner Urquell in these great glasses (the short ones) move on to the potato pancakes and then go our separate ways and cover the menu with perogi's, cabbage rolls and my favorite, the pork shank with sauerkraut. As mentioned in other reviews, the cost is very reasonable and I have had no problem with the service. I will try the sampler tray the next time, but have concerns, since my family has a problem with sharing.

the first time we ate there about a year ago, it was really good. this last time, most of the items were very heavy and not as good although we picked up some homemade perogies from the store attached & made them at home & they are excellent so i'm torn, i may have to go back again & see if there are some things i really enjoy there. i think there are some really good dishes to be found.

This was my first time trying Polish food and I loved it. The waitress very helpful picking an entree. She had a slight eastern european accent, which added to the experience. I will be coming back and would recommend it to anyone.

Regrettably, the restaurant did not meet that 'let's go there again' expectation based on the specific meal I had. It's not that the food was bad, just not special. The Rouladen meat was actually tender, and the pickle filling was good, but am used to also onion and bacon filling, plus, the Rouladen is normally braised before finishing up the cooking in gravy. The Silesian potato dumplings were ok, but are no match for good fresh 'klosse'. Finally, the cold red cabbage dish , somewhat akin to a red cabbage coleslaw, was not at all what I was looking forward to, especially since there was also a coleslaw with corn type dish. Altogether, two cold vegetable dishes was one too many. A warm red cabbage dish mixed with apple bits, bacon, bay leaf and cloves would have been nice. If I can point to one item that may have impacted the whole meal, it may have been the gravy, it just did not have that European taste. It is possible that the original Polish cook has been replaced by a local hire who simply does not have the 'touch'?? Service was prompt and efficient and the Polish beer was good. The adjoining Polish store is worth a visit to check out the Polish goods.

The restaurant was small and not very many customers were there. Polish themed items were being shown on the TV. All the employees were Polish. The bread they brought was very good with the garlic butter. The lard they bring with the bread is not something I would eat, although I am sure my husband would. It appears to be bacon fat drippings. I had the potato pancakes with goulash. The potatoes were very crisp. The beef was nice and tender.

If you are looking for good, authentic Polish food, this is a good place to go. The menu is varied and the fare excellent. The staff is friendly.

Three of us had lunch at Polonia to celebrate a birthday. We have driven past this restaurant a hundred times, each time promising to try it. Not sure why we waited, but we will definitely be back. We shared Pork Aspic & Pate as our appetisers. The Pate is served with crusty bread and two condiments. Delicious. The Aspic was good but not a favorite at our table. For entrees, we decided to get Potato Pancakes ‘Goral’ Style, Sauerkraut & Mushroom Pierogi, and Pyzy to share. The Pyzy were good, but flufiness os the dumpling was not what we expected. Pierogi were great, but the crispy potato pancakes covered in beef goulash was our favorite. We will be back to try the cabbage rolls, pickle soup (wednesday only), and more pierogi & potato pancakes. Hope to see you there. Enjoy, we did!
Surprising finding
At first, we got a little disappointed about the exterior of the place, which doesn't do justice to its interior. The decor is fenomenal, cozy and recalls the good old restaurants. The food was delicious and authentic and the service was helpful and kind.
